Congratulations grem
never saw you finish the last one, grem -- did you?
wtg grem
looking for it, jilli
oh, yes
looking for Lickety's extra word - that's what I thought you were asking about
sam, the et4 is the pl of "a letter in the form of a crossed d, written d or ð, used in Old English writing to represent both voiced and unvoiced th and in modern Icelandic and in phonetic alphabets to represent voiced th. " Big help?
Lickety's extra word is either pon5 or pop5, but whatever it is, a2z doesn't have it either - I'll guess ponte
well, you're telling me it's another word for thorn, so I can probably Google that, thanks
george lucas would be upset to learn that "wookie" isn't accepted here
nope...
I am though, it's a good word!
PB for grem
Wookiee
you can't PB me for a word that doesn't work!
oh, I see
gremlin, next time you do that, type a word I don't already have, yeah?? ha!

Well, grem is finished and I have exactly 35 words...yeah, I'm rollin' right along...NOT!
yeah, like that, gremlin -- ta very much, ha!!
that's one I didn't have!
make that 36
<< give gremlin all the goodies from the PB!
I don't notice any effusive thanks for the def of the et4. Shucks.
Oh, I got it! I thought it was a 4/4, for some reason, and it's a thorn with a stroke on the *ascender*, not a wynn--thanks!
yeah, well I didn't notice any response to my 2 or 3 hello's to you either, so it all evens out? ha!
I am thinking the extra word is po 5/20... not sure yet...
Volley - there's a way to decode Lickety's page, but I'm too lazy to work it out
I helloed you, George!
aww gotcha
it is the po5/20, yes
oh, maybe it's "pooka"
eh? not that I saw, but all right--hello hello!
See, I was going nuts, jillibus, because the thorn is usually written as a stroke on the ascender and is a voiceless fricative for "th", whereas apparently the et is a fricative that was replaced by "dh" and so I was all confused
yep, pooka it was
and of course a tot gets in the way of nookie on the board
I was only looking at the top row Ps earlier
yjsy
oops, ha!
So, enter "pooka" on Lickety's page to get that one out of the way if you want
too funny ru lol
fingers over wrong keys, ha ha!!
Oh, I quite understand, sam. (I lie)
OK...since I'm rollin' so fast I'm scaring myself...I'd better call it a night...going to the coast in the morning and still have a few things to finish to be ready...

It's all Old English to you, innit?
Goodnight Pinik

"Thorn" is a letter that *used* to be in the English alphabet. It looked kind of like a P where the top stroke continued up. And it was pronounced "th".
And the word dropped out of the English language because the Germans did most of the original printing, and they didn't have such a letter, so they used a capital Y instead.
And *that* is why you have places nowadays that are called "Ye Olde Pizza Parlor" -- because there used to be a letter there where the "Y" is now, and it was pronounced "the", but it looks funny to modern eyes
What's the letter that was used a couple centuries or so ago (and older) that sounded like "s" but looked like a script-ish "f"?
Very interesting, Sam -- thanks, seriously.
yeah, interesting!!
That is interesting, Sam...
I think that "f" "s" was based ond the Greek sigma.
(For example, look at an image of the Declaration of Independence and you'll see the letter.)
very interesting
Ahh.
Wondering if it had a special "character name".
I knew this group was geeky enough to be interested. :)
It was called the long S (not really here so please ignore me)
Ah, thanks.

Not for the faint-hearted, Grem!
Oh all right. Hi everyone just for a moment.
*holds sign saying "HERE'S SALLY!"
It's actually just an "s", grem, but it was written that way when it was used in the middle or the beginning of a word--but not at the end.
hi saly :)
hello Sally
Psychological question. Why is it that when I come on and say hi, as you do, I get no responses, but when I say please ignore me everyone piles in and does the opposite? :-)
Do y'all read the language log? It's a blog I could see y'all loving, if you don't already know it.
sheesh, typo time already
Too busy reading science blogs, heh
In all fairness, sally, we've never met before (uh, hi) so I can't speak to past behavior. :-)
I'm not usually here this early :-)
The language log *is* a science blog--it's just not hosted there. Linguistics is a science, though! :-)
Saying "hi" can fly under the radar because it's so prevalent.
did you come on earlier, sally? I may have been absent in the kitchen or something
But the language log is hosted on the University of pennsylvania's site, and gremlinn, yo'd adore it.
No, have been doing hens and chores outside, thought I would just have a quick look at the grid - as you do - before having a shower and getting dressed. Not yet 7am here :-)

Got it!
AAAAAAAGGGGGHHHHHH I am reading a book while I am here and OMG "throws of ecstacy" are you people kidding me WHEN DID PROOFREADERS GO OUT OF STYLE?
Is this a trick to land me in the PB again?
probably about the same time Americans forgot how to use or not use apostrophes
what book is that??
lol grem
Perhaps he hurled her across the room:-)
lol, Sally!
Volley: that's one of my biggest language annoyances.
probably Nora Roberts...
when did to 6/21 (pl) become a word?
It's called "Eggplant Voodoo Doll Land" (yes, really) and it was recommended by a friend and I hate it. Note that even "ecstasy" is misspelled.
It may be a verb form.
LOL joy
is it set in Aubergine Texas?
I can't really criticise... misspelled "shake" on a blog the other day...idiot...
nbt
It doesn't have anything as mundane as a "setting". it's overwrought "intellekshool letrachoor"
I misspelled "comparative" in here. I noticed it before I got corrected, at least.
Yeah, dee, and if you'd failed to proofread and then published for profit*, I'd lambast you for it, but you just made a typo. :-)
all my misspellings are typos, of course
lambaste?
lol grem... read so fast you read right over those words... plus you type like a whiz
But I doubt he made a profit. He probably paid to publish. This has "vanity press" written all over it.
aww sweet...
definitely is troublesome for many folks, too...
Ah, either way.
well is it misspelling or mistyping, though? I do a lot of the latter, a bit of the former -- it happens!!
"defiantly"?
I'm sure a lot of folk who read my Twitter page think I'm illiterate at times, ha! when I'm tired I can't type for toffee
Firefox and Chrome underline all my egregious misspellings, but they won't help with defiantly vs. definitely.
"definately"
what's the point of having a twitter page George?
my dear hubby couldn't spell at all. Put "lelace" on a shopping list. I asked what that was and he giggled a bit and said "um, lettuce" rather sheepishly. He's even forgotten to cross the t. So now I always write "lelace" on my shopping list when I need the stuff.
. . . "can't type for toffee"? That's an AWESOME phrase! I've never heard that before.
big bugaboo of mine -- 'definately', see that one a lot! you can't be 'definate' can ya? ha!!
Oh boy I hate that too, George!
Helps to link it to the word "finite" in your head.
the point, ru, is that I'm sorta expected to so I do, otherwise I wouldn't bloody bother, cos all you can do is post status updates -- which I find a bit stupid! if anyone cares that much what I might be thinking or doing at any given time, they need to get a life!!
another is seperate... in lieu of separate
<has never misspelled definitely
A number of typos is annoying!
Some people I know use them to be funny at other folks, but I'm not that clever.
yeah, gremlinn, so I wonder what those folk are thinking, who type or write 'definately'??
Have always been curious. How do people find your twitter page, George?
Volley: yeah, the spelling of "desperate" probably worsens that one.
grrr, grem >-[
you can go on being curious........remember it killed the cat
always think a rat..
my hubby can't spell his name... poor guy
Voila vs. Viola? Discrete vs. Discreet?
Those who write "definately" might be thinking of "innately" or something along those lines.
what? dee?
lol his name daniel...
No, no, I don't mean yours in particular. Should rephrase. I have never gone to Twitter, have never seen anyone's Twitter page. So how do people find any particular Twitter page?
As long as he doesn't write "Danielle"...
I think they're just spelling it the way they pronounce it, grem.
Yeah, probably.
Sally, there's an option, if you go to twitter.com, to search for people my actual name, handle, or email address.
LOL grem... he never had phonics... just plain cannot spell... lucky he has a secretary ... even misses some things when he is diligent with spell check
er. by* actual name, etc.
(BTW, I often typo that as "probaby" and have to backspace. About 1% of the time it slips through too quickly though.)
You all heard about refudiate, right?
OK, thanks. (Have never understood the lure of Twitter.)
oh I see, yeah, wondered about that -- mine's boring and would bore anyone who doesn't know me to tears, I would think! you just go to the site, put in names I think--not sure if your not a member how you would search, cos we have a search thing to use that non-members don't?
It's so not like me, especially because I hate babies.

Yesterday, I found a lovely word, while looking for the definition of ultracrepidarian - zenzizenzizenzic
fireworks
Jellen, how is Tim?
Cool, never heard of that one.
Christine........the strawberry girl, Christine........banana split lady, Chrstine..........
are you fudging on the last line george?
Oh my goodness, Christine! Please don't tell enable.
...........the strawberry girl, Chrstine..........banana spit lady............
YAY josh!!!
no, ruru, that's how it goes -- search for 'Christine' by Siouxsie And The Banshees on Youtube!!
Oy! who's taking my name in vain?
Siouxsie And The Banshees?
yeah -- let's blame them!!
yeah she can't even spell suzie right
But, Jillibus, the dictionary didn't give a hint to the pronunciation
<< shakes head at ruru
<convinced that the t's are not accurate
what does it mean, Christine?
Zenzizenzizenzic The zenzizenzizenzic of a number is its eighth power. This term was suggested by Robert Recorde, a 16th century Welsh writer of popular mathematics textbooks, in his work The Whetstone of Witte, published in 1557, although his spelling was zenzizenzizenzike . The word is obsolete except as a curiosity; the Oxford English Dictionary has only one citation for it. It survives as a historical oddity. The word dates from a time when there was no easy way of denoting the powers of numbers other than squares and cubes. Its root word is the German zenzic , from the medieval Italian censo , meaning "squared." Since the square of a square of a number is its fourth power, Recorde used the word zenzizenzic (spelt by him as zenzizenzike ) to express it. This is a condensed form of the Italian censo di censo , used by Leonardo of Pisa in his famous book Liber Abaci of 1202. Similarly, as the sixth power of a number is equal to the square of its cube, Recorde used the word zenzicubike (a more modern spelling, zenzicube , is found in Samuel Jeake's Logisticelogia) to express it. Finally, the word zenzizenzizenzic denotes the square of the square of a number's square, which is its eighth power. Zenzizenzizenzic has more Zs than any other word in the English language.
flippin' heck, ultracrepidarian & zenzizenzizenzic are real words??
well, what do ya know?!!
Gee, I can just make up some crap and suggest it's a word? Or do I have to be a bigshot like Robert Recorde?
Someone mentioned ultracrepidarian, yesterday.
I guess you don't - some kid randomly came up with "googol" and we're stuck with it.
Very interesting, Christine.
I'm looking for pr 7/32 - can anyone help?

I need to go - does anyone need help before I go?
on TV someone just pronounced foie gras as "foy grah"
which reminds me of "flamin' yon"
would you guess that's "filet mignon"?
My pet peeve is where people add a "k" to the end of everything and anything ie. everythink
well, that's an accent in pats of the UK, eg Lancashire.
good mornink!
That said, I am going (ha ha George)
Jill, I thought the Lancashire accent just emphasised the g but this is a definite k= everythink is ok now
I have a friend from Preston, Lancs, who uses the k
Anyway - bye for now

Morning all. I am playing on hubby"s iPad this morning
iPad ... drool.
It is lovely
My Mac only runs Tiger so I can't (I think) use an iPad, according to the specs. My son says I could get it set up in the shop, and then just not plug it into the Mac to re-sync.
I don't know much about them other than they are lovely to use and it is making me want one even more. But I must buy my new camera this year so no iPad jut yet!
Nice of hubby to lend it to you:-)
good morning everybody. I is cool and wonderful this AM after a lot of rain yesterday. What a pleasure!
good morning everybody. I is cool and wonderful this AM after a lot of rain yesterday. What a pleasure!
I can hear the roses saying thank you
Doubly cool eh ruby? And good morning.
why did it do that? sorry to be annoying
Don't worry about it. Does it all the time.
Only thing wrong with it is that I can't see tha chog and the grid as
Oops at a reasonable size at the same to
me
That should have been same time
I wish you could see the fish, Sally, they are smiling, jumping and breeding like crazy, but I've left the bronze heron out there as it looks beautiful.
I sometimes resort to playing on the iPhone, and it's the same there, but I think I can see the chog, but it's a nuisance to join in. Dr-G is reportedly going to have iPad compatibility in the new version, so presumably you are using Safari atm but will be able to play direct.
Pleased about the fish ruby. Do the nets detract from the pond at all?
the nets are black and unobstrusive, but the plants over most of them and are coming up in the interstices
cover*
Oh that's good to know.
Bye for now - have to give it back and have brekkie- see u soon
Wondering if they would help to keep the blanket weed down. It's always a problem at this time of year cos of the wildlife, can't just hoik it out.
Saturday breakfast, my favorite
Bye Kazzer. If you ever want anyone to look after the iPad for you ...
I don't know about blanket weed. Is it like duck weed?
No, not like duck weed. Like a thick green blanket :-(
Comes out in huge swathes like felt.
But the little frogs and newts come with it at this time of year.
we don't have that, maybe the pond is too small. We also don't have any newts or frogs, have seen one toad in 12 years!
Just found my missing N words - can't think how I missed them:-)
Because it's a wildlife pond, there's a lot of silt in the bottom. I have cleared out the little ones a couple of times, but can't do the big one on my own and it's a major job and well overdue. It was planned for last year but OH was poorly. We hope perhaps in the autumn. Anyway, the blanketweed uses the nutrients from the silt so that will help when we have cleared it. Horrible job though, not looking forward to it, but hasn't been done in 7 years.
husband puts on waders to clean ours, but it is pretty small. And now that the fish aren't fearful any more, they nibble on him and he loves it. The only danger is that the bottom is slimy and he fell once, bringing down the fountain in the middle. Fortunately, the handyman was here or he would have drowned when his waders filled with water.
was yours a natural pond, already on the property?
Yes, he shouldn't do it if no-one else is there. Ours is about 20 ft diameter I think, and about 3-4 ft deep in the middle, so you can get to the middle with waders but I wouldn't, and OH should not do that now. We will have to partly empty it.
Does it have high sides or is it into the ground?
I stood there, helplessly looking on. There would have been no way I could get him out!
No, we had it dug to look natural: <http://www.stonybrook-ludlow.co.uk/im ages/image17.html> in its raw state. All grown up now of course!
Sloping sides ruby, so creatures can get in and out. Has sand then blanket then butyl as bottom surface.
the dogs hang over the sides and drink from it, but as nonw-swimmers, they would be at rish if they could just walk in. I'll bet chows are the only dogs that can't swim
risk*
True ruby, but with sloping sides they could walk out! Our cats drink from the ponds but have never fallen in. They sometimes wonder why their tails are wet, though! Look really puzzled.
I would worry with Max who always look slightly puzzled anyway....
lol
he loves the pond water, I guess it taste more interesting than the clean water in his bowl
I have two lovely phantoms today: polka and troika.
nice
as usual, 1st 50 were easy!
But they don't work :-(
I have slowed down, have 114, with 55 to find.

*poof*
bye ruby
Good morning/evening all.
Hallo Haz.
Morning Haz & Sally
Hello, Sally and lynxxx.
Some unusual words in this grid, aren't there?
Yes - just looking one up.
they must be some that I haven't found yet. There was some doozies yesterday
Yes, I used the blessed resource of morewords more than once yesterday.
excuse my terrible English
Dictionary.com and a few other resources can't even find the pr7/32 Iwas looking for. (sound like small female non-amateur!)
Yes, not your usual standard, lynxxx.
TY Sally
lol, so do you know what it actually means?
I suppose enable gives a definition?
a female professional athlete
there is an image of a topless female golfer, not sure what profession she is in
rofl! So I wasn't far wrong!
She'd have goosepimples if she played on some courses over here.
Don't have enable so couldn't look.
Perhaps that's what they mean by playing into the rough.
There's something deeply wrong about a dictionary that doesn't accept 'witter'. It must not have ever listened to people rambling on endlessly about things.
I so agree Haz, tried it as well.
It describes it so perfectly. Do you use 'witter' in Australia, lynxxx or are all your conversations riveting?
Wonder if it would allow "refudiate"?
ours are wittier of course
Of course. No wittering for the witty.
I have one word left--according to Babble it's a 7 letter P word--I've looked at the list and it seems to be a po 5/20. Can anyone help? TIA
It's a plural for the piggy meat.
Sally has a pr7.32 for you Kateq
Or could it be the illegal liquor - po7/32?
According to earlier chog there is a P word in lickety which is not in the grid.
I have that, Haz. On the list it is po 5, 5, 20, 6, 5, 9, 20. It's the first 5/20 I'm missing. I have your tarty golfer
My definition: pr7/32: small female non-amateur
It doesn't exist, Kateq. I have al the Ps. It is pooka, but not allowed in the grid.
Thanks, Sally--then it must be a p 7--tho I have the female non-amateur
and the Irish liquor
I have the illicit drink, and the gas.
there is 2 ways to spell the irish hooch
is/are!
po7/32 - a sign of things to come.
yes--a 6 and a 7
ah, TY Haz
You're welcome.
aha--my missing word was the pr 7 gas---many thanks, everyone. Spent a fair amount of time hunting for the phantom po 5/20 from the list
tried pl5.14 as a laugh - it worked! (noise you make when you dive in less s)
Well done, Kateq.
Congrats Kateq!
Thanks! Have a lovely day, everyone!
Congrats Kateq
Bye, Kate.

Good morning/evening BabbleLand.
Hello FM!
hi FM
Haz!!! HAven't seen you for a couple of days. Is F settled in now? Hello lynxxx :)
Yes, indeed - some unpacking done and the room customised to her liking.
HAve you got used to her being around too?
Yes and no. I have to stop and think before setting the table - 'how many are we?'
I am sure!
How goes the grid today as I am about to launch into it?
It's interesting, takes a bit of working at.
Ah I will bear that in mind but as I am having a lazy day today I shan't rush it.
Wonder how Ata got on in London yesterday.
It's a good grid for a day when you don't have to be anywhere in particular.
What was happening in London? I must have missed out on the news.
She was going to the zoo to take some photos and meet up with friends. Hope her knee was up to it.
Oh yes, of course, I remember now.
I remember her saying about it, just hadn't taken in the date. She's very brave to venture forth with a leg not quite healed.
mmm I know, we will have to wait and see.
Back shortly, coffee time.
Back in a couple of minutes - F wants to check e-mails.
I'm off too, not concentrating well. Byee
morning everyone
Hi Katie, just come back from long phone call.
Hi Sally
Looks as if everyone else has gone.
and have been for some time!
pooka is the extra word in Lickety's list

i'm here lurking
Hello, sandy
*drags sandy out of lurk mode, screaming*
'resists and stays lurking'
hmm ok no more lurking
bab and sally
are you having a nice weekend? its very cold here
better than very hot
Much much cooler here today, very dull and grey.
I love dull grey days, it has rained here 4 times since xmas and it is the middle of winter
When do you plan to start building your house, sandy?
we are working on the plans (with architect daughter) but we must sell our house first to get out of debt and have cash to build
funny tho - the planned house is getting smaller - has come down from 'grand design' LOL
Yes, we had to sell ours and rent to fund the build.
Some friends have done what I think you are doing. They have bought derelict cottage, built a large garage which they are living in (the cabin) while they build the house.
we will stay in the shed for the build of course lol - the shed has a bathroom, a big kitchen, computer, tv, etc and we have two transportable bedrooms
amazingly easy to live in
You won't want to leave it - think of all the housework!
shed is 12 metres long by 9 metres wide
you know sally, I am terrified of the housework - I want the new house to be like a magazine clean house - and I know I can't cut the mustard!
Maybe we can stay in the shed and go to the house when all you foreign babblers come to stay
I figure people come to visit us, not to see how clean the house is. It's a home, not a magazine! We did tidy up for some professional photos though.
is it in a magazine?
Was featured in a newspaper.
must be a lovely house then!
have you been there long?
I had to laugh at the time. The kitchen was immaculate - nothing on the worktops. First thing they did was get a cookery book and put it nonchalantly down on the worktop!
Been here 8 years, took a year to build before that and we first saw the land a year before that. Seems a lifetime ago.
its rural isn't it? how much land do you have?
I love your icon photo
I think the cat (Daisy) is saying to Lulu (the Light Sussex), "you have to lay what?"
Our chooks have stopped laying at the moment, I miss our lovely eggs- we need some new chooks since the three best layers ran away when husband got some Roosters (gone to god now) who pack rogered them
lol, we have two new ones who have been hammered by the rooster before they came to us. Still desperately trying to grow their feathers back.
Ours can't run away: (a) they are large and can't fly much and (b) we now have electric netting because of the foxes. (Very large area, so very expensive, but stlll free range)
we usually get 'rescue chooks' from the battery and it was the featherless one that appealed to the roosters! they left the more attractive ones well alone
ours wander about during the day and are locked into a large chookpen at night which has wire on the floor the sides and the roof to stop the foxes
Well, how can I put this delicately - if they are featherless it's easier for the roosters to, um, see what they're doing. Ours have totally bald bums but I suspect the breeder had plucked them (Orpingtons, so normally rather fluffy knickers).
Sadly our hens were taken by daytime foxes.
wow I am amazed at that, no foxes come here during the day - the creepy cruel things come only at night
Used to be so here, but I think they are getting less scared. They were taken at 11.30-12 in the morning. I was here at the time and able to rescue one.
before we covered the roof they were able to climb over the 6 foot wire fence and rip the heads off and then leave - they are evil
Yes, ours have a fox-proof inner run with weldmesh on the roof, and a mesh skirt round so they can't dig from the outside. But that's only 4 metres x 4 metres, so they need more space during the day. However, in a power cut I could leave them in there safely. They would just be a bit bored!
do you have a dog?
No, just the two cats.
A dog would be useful against a fox I think.
the dogs here would not allow any on our property but at night they are wrapped in their blankets sleeping by the fire
brb
what about a couple of geese? I would get some but I am scared of them
I cooked a goose one Christmas :) and it came out so well. Greetings you two.
hi mitch, I have never cooked goose, is it like duck?
Yes but not quite so rich and it is so easy to cook unlike turkey and comes out goldne brown and moist.
drool, drool.
mmmm I actually dont really like turkey
have you tasted 'foie gras' we can't buy it here?
Only draw back is that they are v expensive here. I dislike turkey with a vengance. Yes I have as a child in Paris but would not eat it now.
I think it is a cruel process, but I would like to try it just once
Haz was right, this grid takes some working at.
yes , I never have understood why turkey is so 'fabulous'
Back. I don't think I've ever tasted goose. I do like turkey, but we get ours from a farm and they are unlike any turkey in the shops.
ben franklin wanted the turkey to be the national bird of america.
I love duck, but I'm not very good at cooking it.
I agree but I have plenty of time tonight, waiting for everyone to sleep so I can watch my recorded Tour
I love duck, and I too need more practice cooking it
but he was outvoted.
I think the mass breeding for Christmas has something to do with it as they rarely taste of anything really unless you buy from a local producer/supplier.
I am about to cook Nigella Lawson's Anglo Italian Trifle which I am taking to a friend's place for lunch tomorrow
mmm, trifle.
you are probably right mitch
Why Anglo Italian? Part tiramisu?
its actually an up market version of trifle done with Limoncello and blackberries
Hi hurshy! Oh you can't go wrong with duck preheat over on high. place bird on trivet in deep pan, stick skewer into it all over and shove in oven for 20 mins, then turn down and slow cook for about 2 1/2 hrs (for a 2kg bird).
you can google it (the trifle)
Drool. Do you get wild blackberries in Oz as we do here?
duck or goose fat is perfect for cooking roast potatoes in.
I will sandyloo. ty for duck recipe FM.
we do get wild blackberries here but they are not as good or as prolific - you have to search them out in the bush in our south west
Sally I can email you the details, its from Delias ancient 'complete cookery' book.
Can't beat eating blackberries from the bush.
mitch......sorry to be ignorant...but what is a trivet?
I have Delia - will go and check.
I am contemplating going to one of those pick your own farms tomorrow.
a rack - to keep the bird out of the fat that it exudes.
trivets can also be smaller and used as spoon-rests
true hursh.
i have one on my stove for that purpose that i inherited from my mom
Got the recipe - thanks for the tip.
trivet is a multi meaning and mutifunctional word.
Trivet is a good word to find in Babble.
plus it sounds nice
it's so compact
ha ha but what is it for the duck recipe?
sorry I see now
oh good Sally - do give it a go as it has worked for me every time over the years. One thing I do is uncover the duck in the fridge the day before cooking as it helps dry the skin out.
ok I have a trivet I will try it
Sometimes when you buy a roasting tin in the UK, it comes complete with its own trivet which fits it properly.
same here Sally
*blush* just remembered the time I cooked a duck and forgot to take out the plastic bag in the cavity with the giblets etc in it. DH never let me forget that.
I am going to cook a duck during the week- do you have a good stuffing mitch?
Never stuff a duck as it will absorb too much fat - cook it separately.
aah, my mum has a great recipe for orange sauce I will use that
Hi everybody. FM, your giblets story reminds me of a friend, who was cooking her first Christmas dinner, and to make things easier, she had both the turkey and ham boned and rolled. Except, she boiled the turkey and roasted the ham....
ROFL Soodle!
lol
Delia suggests (still have the book open!) making sage and onion stuffing balls and serving them separately.
oh that is funny Soodle.
I am copying and pasting all suggestions into a word document to save in my recipe file (how incredibly computer literate!)
have to go and serve dinner now bbl
My Godmother gave me that Delia cookery book when I seft home and it was my bible for many years and I still refer to it now and again esp for cooking times and temps.
TTFN sandy
I have a 1966 Good Housekeeping book given to me on my first marriage, and I still use it for some things. very old-fashioned otherwise! My real bible now is the Reader's
Digest Cookery Year - sorry don't know what happened then.
the Reader's ..... ah, was wondering.
Think my pinkie hit the enter key :-)
I use the internet a great deal for suggestions and ideas these days.
Yes, I often look at Delia online.
Think my worst disaster was when I tried to make hash browns, and I froze some. When I came to cook them from frozen, they just melted.
oh dear :)

Problems with po 5/12 - word accepted in Lickety's list but not in Babble - what is the problem?
Sorry I meant po 5/20
It's an extra word in lickety, just ignore it. pooka, right?
So the total for today is 169/2221
Yes, gran. I've finished and that's what I have.
Brilliant - finished!
Congrats.
Must go and exert myself to do some other things I think. Anyone need clues?
Back.
Just going FM. See you again.
No clue for me thanks Sally am picking away.

I don't know if I can make halfway without list...
How many words today?
169
Thanks.
welcome
I made it over halfway!
I have 90 words!
amazing
Good morning Fellow Babblers. How's the grid today?
hi Nef! I made it over halfway without list!
but it was not quick
Good just a little challenging
oh, great. :-( I'm toddler sitting and caring for DH. I was hoping for EASY today. :-/
hello everyone
Hi Annie
hi Annie
hi annie
Hi Nef, How is your hubby?
hi m9, lynxxxie
(dang! It's Impossible just to chat here! 6 words entered already! I'm sunk!
oh Nef! but being around little ones is good for us!
Annie, he's not good at all. It's like he can't think all of a sudden; his eyesight hasn't come back and he's fallen several times again; all in the past 3 days.
I'm sorry to hear that Nef!
Nef, I am so sorry to hear that.
And I had clinic for 2 of those days.
Thanks. Sorry, I'm trying not to whine. The "good" news is that our mentally ill DIL is in the hospital; but this is our son's heavy season so he's working 12-16 hours/day --which is why we're going to have our 14 month old grandson a lot for about a month
wow Nef. that's a lot on your plate..
Any ideas of how to do this would be appreciated! :-)
Oh Nef, please talk all you want..it is not easy for you. Do you have some outside help?
You are an inspiration to us all Nef.
duct tape?
I agree with lynxxx
I do too!
m9, I hadn't thought about that; but it *might* work on DH! ;-)
put out big plastic mat and give the 14 mo old a big bowl and 2 cups.
with water
Is there a local playgroup youyr grandson can go to, a 14 months he would probably like the interaction - and maybe get you some free time
mcdonald's playland. ;-)
if you have laptop you can babble there. they have wifi
I LOVE kids; having had a crazy mother, he's pretty easy to take care of (he's been delightful, just clingy); it's DH that's a handful because I can't trust him. His 85 y/o Aunt Jean (the one who broke both wrists last fall and stayed with us and helped me play Babble for a while) has been with DH watching Ronnie for my clinic days; but last eve she said that DH is more of a problem (other than having to hold baby Ron all day).
call the local lds bishop and tell him your situation and does he know any young women who need service hours cause you can't pay. I bet you get help pretty quickly!
Will they try to "convert" me, m9? I really don't have any money; but am Catholic and don't know anything about lds
oh we're always hopeful!LOL But service has no conversion as a requirement.
Is your son living with you while his wife is in hospital? Even though he is working a lot having another adult living in the house may help
hey cbr1965
Hi rescue
what is up
kooop
This is what happens when your children start to play Babble!
My son lives and works 35 miles away, across the Cities from us. We're doing the kid exchange by Aunt Jean's; which is roughly half way between
is there a diagnosis regarding DH? what's wrong with him?
hi ruru
where is Twin cities?
gm m9
is that detroit area?
St. Paul
minnesota. you don't say "hope to shout" do you?
MS, ruru. He's had it 23 years and di great until a relapse in April, now it seems like he's on his 3rd or 4th relapse since then
or "mebbe so"?
Minneapolis/ St. Paul MN m9
oh.. I'm sorry..that's tough
Is it likely the meds will get his eyesight back Nef?
m9, we don't say either of those phrases. If you've ever listened to Prairire Home Companion on NPR, That is Minnesota Speak ( esp. the Lake Wobegon section)
I will pray for you all. I'm sure Heavenly Father will know what I mean when I say Nef and Nef's husband. ;-)
my husband says them both. his mom is from Cass Lake
< needs prayers
"Ya, sure, yo betcha" i or "Off ta" are more typical phrases
I'll pray for you too ruru!
what's going on ruru?
I have sinned..not really recently ...but most of my life...
anyway.. my ds wants the puter..and i have guests coming....
ruru... you remind me SO much of my brother!LOL
lol
but he recently found religion. he told me so.
thanks, m9. I do believe in the power of prayer. And I pray for ruru and my Babble friends all the time. I figure we all need it
his Goddess is Athena..and his secondary goddess is aphrodite.
ruru, I LOVE your peaceful-looking icon!
has a little shrine in his apartment in Germany.
it's a beautiful photo
is he in the service m9?
ok. ttyl
bye m9
no. he's been in germany for over thirty years
oh wow
(it was far away from my mother)
bye!
yep I understand that
BYE m9!
Well, the day is calling me. I'm going to be back off and on after the baby exchange. TTYL! Got my happy face on and am ready to go! :-)
Goodnight all. Hope you find some good solutions soon Nef and that your husband improves some
good luck nef.. you are amazing
God bless you Nef..you will be in my prayers
thanks all. Babble chat is always the best place on the internet. Everyone here encourages everyone else
just loggng in to chat, what's heppened to you ruru?
nothing with me ESP.. I am doing fine.. it is Nef who has the load
ah, what's happened?
oh, looks like I just missed Nef :( hope it all turns out alright for her...
her husband has had a relapse and she is also taking care of her grandson and is over - loaded
cancer?
MS
:-(
I was just teasing M9 with my comment
and to add to her load, Nef's DIL was admitted to a mental facility..when it rains........
wow .. I am STUCK
Hello all
gm Bobster
hello mr bob
Oh, what a shame, Annie. Hopefully, that'll make some things easier, at least - if her DIL can get any help she needs
She has more than her share.
jeez sounds like it
anyone have a clue for either pr7/32 or pr 7/36 ?
oh man, Frank and I rented Poltergeist to watch this afternoon - only like 20 minutes in but I'm scared already..
pr* + female ending is pr7/32 and the other sounds like what you use to cook on a gas grill with one vowel changed.
thanks, cbr
NB have you ever seen The Exorcist (original)
okay, have both pr 7's

hantjambo y'all!
Uhhh, yeah, not too long ago actually! Didn't think a great deal of it though; not scary enough ;)
hey, Jmc! How's Kenya?
I really like Drag Me to Hell (more recent)
Hi jmc! How was your trip?
good i gave a whole speech in swahili today
Drag Me to Hell was good. Did you like Zombieland?
still in keny annie but the internet gods are being kind to me
jambo jmc, habari gani?
nsouri esprit (i probably spelled that wrong)
Didn't see Drag Me to Hell - haven't actually been to the cinema in a long time. Saw Avatar though. What a waste of my life that was!¬
msouri maybe
have to check my notes :-)
probably -- the spelling still alludes me so i don't always have quite the right sounds
hi all!
my speech was asante sana marafiki wangu
*waves madly at TO* hi!
Hi Owl
I got the asante sana part
marafiki wangu sounds a little obscene tho ;-p
thank you very much my Friends
hey jmc! where are you?/ hi annie!
rafiki=friend -- marfiki means friends
still in kenya TO
I so want to go to africa again
*marafiki
ah, going well i hope
where did you go? east africa obviously with the swahili
TZ
I am having a good time and learning swahili
have been to Mauritius too, but they mostly speak hindi
I went to TZ for about a week with my son.
my hindi sucks :-D
did u love TZ? where did u go?
just dar past the penesula where my TZ friends live and then over to the luscious zanzibar
my friends taught me mungo wango! (my God!)
Zanzibar is def. on my short list!
I would have stayed in zanzibar longer but you have to have cash and they take no credit cards :-(
saw the black and white dolphins and my son swam with them
you could sell your body? ;-p
pb for me :-( *checks for a beer in the fridge*
lol no one would want my body not even in africa where plump is okay!
I have swum with belugas whales in Hudson Bay
oddest thing I have seen so far: we went to a village on zanzibar where they were having there annual celebration
what they do is the northern villagers and the southern villagers break into teams
then they do running marches around the village square chanting that they are going to win and they are the champions and such swinging banana tree branches and ropes made from banana leafs. . .
well, if nobody is naked, I am not interested
;-]
good morning..and who is neeked?
eventually they square off and spar only sometimes instead of two people fighting a bunch do and it is a melee
[should have known crossy would show up at naked] *looks for ruru and torg*
did u go to the spice farm?
eventually the village elders build a branch house and a man goes inside and sets it on fire and stays inside
Morning, Crossy :)
howdy nb
it was in a huge blaze before he came out
no ran out of money :-(
but none of that was the oddest part
several did it in drag
wow that sounds crazy!
No stranger than what you see in the streets round where I live, Jmc.
something you would see on National Georgraphic
Tho without the fire, admittedly...
well, maybe the drag part, but the burning hut NB>??
doing that in a country where they jail and kill gay guys? a lot crazier than london
I see your point ;) so the drag is personal preference and not part of anything ceremonial, then? If I was going to stand in a burning hut, I wouldn't wear anything I really wanted to keep ;)
okay i can understand no "pook" but no "poot"
mostof them just wore a dress but one guy wore a bra and a wig and no one would run with him
and not woot
woot woot!
well that is the point, they are pretending. it's ok for guys to do that. we had a bunch of marines who did that at a barbacue party they sponsored. it's a macho thing
i must say i wish i was a fly on the wall when they went to a local store to try on their dresses. i belive they got a bit of a repromand for that.
*closes her little fly eyes at the thought*

Pooka is in the dictionary so should be accepted here
Hello Nancy Boy! How are you? Welcome to the puzzle
I'm scared Min ;) watching Poltergeist..
i don't know NB I wish there was!
Oh, I cannot watch scary movies like that.I'm a wimp when it comes to scary films. Even thrillers scare me.
probably Dr. God thought he was safe in assuming not too many babblers there (yet!)
argh bro, why is he pulling his face off?!?!
I don't blame you Min, this film is GROSS. I'm a wimp too, but taking refuge in staring at my computer screen instead/wimpering into my flatmate's shoulder...how manly.
well done NB! lol
So is it just as hot in Kenya as it has been in D.C. and the whole east coast?. I hope that you are having fun
no it is winter here and by winter I mean it drops down to 65 at night some times
Well at least you are with someone. I don't even dare watch those kinds of films with someone else in room.
I have crossed the equator 3 times in 4 weeks
I rarely watch scary movies . . . I couldn't even watch Signs as one of the Babblers recommended to me *puts on foil cap to protect from bad thoughts*
later everyone!
Then you picked a great time to go to Kenya since it has been so miserable here w/the humidity!NYC hit a record this year w/it being the hottest July ever. It has gotten up to the 90s thirteen days this year and the month is not even over yet.It will definitely be in the 90s again today and next week jmcnrick.
I love scary films, but I'm very easily freaked out by them. I usually end up dug into a kind of fort between the sofa cushions.
my sister wrote that it went over 100 in DC for a few days
Bye 72 Temple Owl! I'll see later on in the chog maybe.

Yes it has also gotten up into the 100s here in NY too

hi CBR, did you get the movie yet?
also thxks for the te8/40
back - je, i thought of you the other day
Hi weiik - not yet but it is next in my queue so I will probably get it in a couple of days once I send one of my latest back.
hi 72, warm enough 4 u today
I have two left so maybe someone can help me with them. They are the first th5/12 and th6/24.
NM
sorry not me cbr
ooh, you finished? well done!
THanks, NB. I always miss an easy one or two that I thought I already had.
cbr, is it the number following two?

oh my, you are cooking?
whoo hooo cbr!
Hello all. JMC! Are you back from your African Adventure?
hi red

hi weiik and red
Hope you are enjoying it well.
rice and tomatoes and carrots
Yes, woolly blankets are nice there in the night.
what I would do for some fresh veggies
jmc I'm jealous, I've only been able to collect african artifacts, still not made the trip yet
am stuck on my last word....anyone have a clue for po5/20?
it has been fun weiik
not it ikd
cbr, th6/24 is a variant spelling of a word meaning "to scold"
i think that is the lickety phantom lkd
jmc do u study there, or just visit?
Hey, I'm still watching Poltergeist and the lady said the house was 'clean'. It's not though, is it?
i am a member of a board of an international Quaker organization and here for a month soon to be up
no it is not NB, get ready for the fun to start ... still remember that movie well ... my daughter had nightmares for weeks
so, are u saying that PO5/20 is bogus?
you've never seen poltergeist before NB?
I am glad you enjoyed it jmc, very nice photo you have too.
I never watch those movies, hi Nancy boy.
that is why it is important to have people define words like "clean" MN
Nope, but I bet that clown's gonna come into it somewhere..*biting nails*
ty ty I am vying for the babbleland photo contest ;-)
there is a photo contest?
*puts gloves on NB's hands to stop nasty habit*
NB, did the storm start yet?
no no red just a joke
LOL...I was lining up my photos!
but I have lots of good animal photos that i want to show off!
Well, I ran today a Personal Worst in the 5K!!!! It was still sort of fun, excepting the heat.and humidity!
*wondering if Dr God would be willing to host a photo page for babblers*
je, a friend borught me the program frm blofest, the celebration held each year in honor of the movie, part of which was filmed in the area.
We've been through all the storm bits at the beginning...they've had the medium in and now the kids are asleep, the mother's in the bath and the dad's away. Not good, surely?
did you come in last?
jmc, you can make some nice albums via facebook.
okay, the clown is gone from the chair. I'm worried.
I did not come in last. but it was still a personal worst time ever in a 5K for me. a bit frustrating but I am over it now, I know the next one will be easy time to beat.
yes and then facebook has a copyright on your photo -- no ty
NB, I don't like that clown either, had 1 as a kid ....
okay then you got your facebook wish! I am Not Dead Last!
Just when yopu think it is safe, NB, it isn't!
Lovely photo jmn! And lovely photo of lovely cat, pythonx!
I see now I was right not to trust the clown ;) never mind nail-biting, this calls for a cigarette...!
Or you can use flikr.
You're gonna need two, NB.
If I had tried a little bit harder, I could have been last.
later all, ex is calling poof
NB, stop that filthy habit, nail biting and now smoking!!!!
lol red!
bad NB bad!
lol Cbr! Both at once? ;)
hb weiik
I am trying to decide a good time to call this man that I apparently have been set up with...
If ypu dare, NB.
red, read your news. grats
what are the options red?
Ooh Red, sounds intriguing!

He's very nice, a friend's brother. She lives in CT and he in Tampa. and he has been wanting to meet me, I have been putting it off as I feel I am a bit too fat.

No really jmc, I am a bit too fat right now, I do not like to be seen in public at all....It's a byproduct of injury, coming off, but slow like.
pr 7/32=not amateur+ fem.
i joined anon line site. not going well.
what is anon line site and what is it for?
anon line?
then go to a movie -- its dark and you don't have to think about it
Oh no, we have a date set up, but he is a wants to chat on the phone kind of guy, date is in september, I have time to lose about 15 more pounds!
I assure you Red, you'll be thinking about it a lot more than he will.
*tap tap tap* is this mike on?
thanks for the clue jmc but I think I'm being thick, but was does fem mean
oh then chat at a time of the day when you have time but could come up with a legit excuse if it is deadly

I think it will work out. Since his sister and I are very good friends, and he and sister are very close the three of us are all very much alike. so I am not too worried, but I am feeling like a plump chicken.
must let the cats in there seems to be a storm coming
I am back from walking dog. Now I think I should not have done that. Dog was about collapse upon return.
and can I admit that I don't care too much if it doesn't? (I know its wrong, but I like my life right now anyway...)
too hot minver?
He wobbled into the house and then did not have the strength to go up the stairs. I had to carry Jack up.
ren- think of the cooking gas you get in tanks - then change the next last vowel.
lol Red, on the contrary, I'd say that's a very healthy view to have!
*agree*
Looked at thermometer when I got back & it read 98
(lurking)...Min --dogs can get heat stoke in as little as 15 min. do b careful with your furry friend!!
I really was not looking for anything, but Sister got us connected via the running thing ( he runs as well) and then we started talking...and then...
Oh minver! thats too hot for a lot of creatures!
sounds like it has potential, red
I become a little obsessed about making sure he gets his exercise. Hubby gets mad. I over do it sometimes.
like I said, I just don't really care. I am trying to get excited. but it's nice either way...
put a damp towel around his neck.
LOL, there are two conversations going on here. I am thinking WHY would I put a damp towel around this guys neck...
I do admit, walk was a bad idea. Sorry redturtlehead!
I wish I could feel like that, Red!
hahaha! me too!
LOL redturtlehead!
Its ok, Minver, I think now that you are inside the dog can cool off and no harm done. I often end up with that problem with Teulu, and he begs to go out...
nancy, I am older than you. I don't know why but I just don't get so worried about if someone is going to "like" me or what not. Now I just do my own thing.
can anyone please clue me for wi6

Hello Riverdance! How are you? Welcome to the puzzle
hi river
just got a minute in between chores - ugh
omg river i just read your profile you poor dear!
i am glad things are improving
its been a tough month since you have been away
i am sorry i didn't know to hold you and your son in the Light! But it looks like things are going well now?
yes much better - he is feeling well and we have fingers crossed for a good followup this coming Wednesday
a million hugs river
thanks jmc
*puts river and family on top of list for holding in Light*
the babble prayers were strong as always
the babble lot are the best for such things
you joined in the nick of time!
what is happening
in kenya
right now i am sitting in a house that is bolted and gated and locked to the brim and a guard is sitting on my porch (to avoid the thunderstorm) --- another normal night in Kenya
yikes - I would be terrified all the time
but earlier today I gave a speech in swahili -- i was so proud
i think i would be less scared if they didn't do all of this
impressive jmc - what was it about
i think it is left over from the post election violence
it was a sentence long -- asante sana marifiki wangu
thank you my friends
actually thank you very much
*standing with a round of applause*
*curtsies*
I must get back to my chores - have a great day everyone - stay safe jmc
the kenyans and tanzanians were all impressed since almost none of the other mzungu (europeans) bother to try to learn swahili
but it seems basic to know how to say thank you in the country in which you are traveling
hang in there river and no worries about me!
that is so true everywhere - congratulation to you for trying - and yes most especially thank you
*poof*
bye river!
gd evening everybody
I'm sorry I missed river!

esophagus [sp]
That po 5/20 word is plural of pr 4/9 chops rururocks

The first po 5/20 word is an extra word on Lickety's.
the first one minver

But it's in the dictionary so word should accept here.
96 and good night everybody!

looks like there is an extra p in lickety
te 7/28 is primary, secondary, and te******, drop the final two letters, and replace with a vowel and plural.

Hello hydra! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid!
yw vlcl
Oh! I've been puzzling over it for ages! Thanks, Minveryork. I'm doing fine, thanks. And you?
No wonder I couldn't find it. Or even figure out where it could be.
Love your photos, Minver!
The extra word is pookie whis is a real word, so don't know why Babble does not accept it. It really should.
Thanks hydra. I just updated those photos recently.
Pooka, isn't it@ It's 5 letters
That was meant to be a !, not a @
That's what I meant, pooka NOT pookie. Thanks hydra
Must put some photos on.
Clue for the ne5 please
That ne 5/12 word is ne plus opposite of bottom wht.

Hello...
Hello Jellen! How are you doing?Welcome to the puzzle
I'm fine...how are you?
I'm well. I am working on a story of clues to post later
How is Tim doing today? Never know what to expect each day, right? I hope weather is not too hot for him
His stomach is still bothering him...but he's in air-conditioning, so the heat's not a problem...
(((hugs))) to both of you
Hi, wildcat
hi
hello all!
Hello m9f9l! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid!
hello all. I am trying to get ready to go on an odd blind date. I was expecting to do this in a few weeks, not now!
I am extra nervous.
WhoooHooo red!
Hi, m9!
Yeah, I am not actually ready but...I could not find any more way to dissuade this guy and I do like him...
thank goodness I did my hair earlier today.
*pops head in* ooh Red, you're going out this evening?!
a date!
Yeah, that wasn't the plan but my schedule was bad, so he suggested tonight, he wanted to take me to Circ du Soleil, but...it was sold out.
Hi redturtlehead! How are you? Welcome back to chat
I am too too fat for this.
Hello Nancy Boy! How are you? Welcome back to chog
hmmm... you're meeting someplace public, right?
oh yes, plsu he is the brother of a friend of mine, so not exactly foreign turf, she would kill him.
oh good!
that's sweet~!
relax red and have a great time!
Hi, NB!
he is not just some guy from the internet, though we do a lot of email chatting last week...and I would have been happy to continue to do that...
His sister does not know!
hi, Jellen! How are you? :)
hmmm....how do you KNOW he's her brother then....
I'm fine, NB...you?
:-)
She introduced us, she does not know we are going out tonight.
thanks Bugs.
ah! even more fun!
she's going to be so excited.
I can't complain Jellen, though I can't wait for this evening to be over - I'm on my break at work, gonna be stuck here till 3am. Yawn!
Yeah well, we shall see. I am very insecure. I was trying to find a date and he finally said, you know, I really do have a big crush on you...
He seems nice. She is nice so it stands to reason.
My only sadness is that he is a vegetarian.
I occasionally enjoy meat and fish.
I met my husband thru mutual friends. No one had any idea we would spark so well
don't be sad..that means odds are very high that he's a good cook!
It is just so much nicer when he comes with recommendations
Hello Bugsaw! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid
Hi, Bugsaw
Hello Min and Nancy Boy and m9.
oooh the race today and now a date???? details!!!
it helps a lot, plus he is smart.
Yes, my legs hurt, but dinner at an Indian resturaunt can not be all bad.
I am sorry I missed your birthday NB but I was not near a computer that day.
I also met my husband on a blind date. We had mutual friends as well. He was friends with my girlfriend's BF.
Well Red, just because he is a vegetarian that doesn't mean you have to abstain from meat. I'm a vegan, my flatmate's a vegetarian so he eats eggs, dairy etc, and loads of my friends eat meat...
Happy belatd B day Nancy!!!!!!!!
Sings loudly. HAPPYYYYY BIIIIIIRRRRRRRRRRRRRTHDAY.
aw Bugs, how sweet of you to remember!
Hi Jellen too. I want to greet everyone but I always fail
July 11
red you have to decide you're going to have a good time tonight. this is so exciting!
hello all. I will keep it simple.
Thank you for that lovely rendition, Red ;)
how did the race go?
Bows. Primly.
mmm, indian food! nummy
I was not last. I did clock in my own personal worst time ever, but...I am over it.
kail
You missed out though - I wasn't around for a lot of the day, but the icon theme was hilarious...all those cabana boys!
yay for you! now tell me about your date
TY Bugs.
sorry PB for me (slinking off with hard lemonade)
nancy how many days til your trip?
It is a friend of mines brother who lives in Tampa. I can not believe he is driving all the way from Tampa to eat dinner with me.
Hand Bugs some Salmon.
I can :) sounds great. you WILL have a good time
I can. he's smart you said.
Just 27 days, Wild! Can't think about it without getting serious butterflies.
I think it should be interesting. I'm sort of ambivalent and he seems not to be so this is interesting.
sounds like someone needs an updated image of herself
I second that m9!
NB, what are you rplans for your trip??
exciting for you too nance
yes, its a 2 hour drive for dinner though. thats a lot.
Basically Red, since my parents told the rest of my family that I'm dead, I'm going to go prove that actually, I'm, er...not!
I once had a guy travel 9 hours to see me for a date
So that should be interesting NB, I hope it goes well, and that you enjoy it while there, some good eats for certain.
you're worth it red. update that self-image
Wow, Wild!
boy won't they all be surprised nance!
Ok Wild, I feel better about the two. I jsut hope it works out as well as it seems to be though the phone seemed awkward, but I was nervous...
To say the least, Red ;) whatever happens I guess it'll be pretty emotional; I have no idea whether they'll accept me being gay or not, but I don't have to tell them first thing - I can enjoy being with them for a day or two first!
of course you are .. that's normal. try to relax and enjoy the evening
I think we will be alrgith.
Just enjoy seeing them NB. I think one thing at a time with family!
thought you were going gaelic there red!LOL
I hope your trip is all you hope it will be NB
how long of a flight is it nancy?
My Babble family is the best!!!! Almost all my friends are at work today so I had no one to call for squeeee-ing.
You'll be great, red!
:)
Calm is always good red. Blessings
Deep breaths...
Thanks, Bugs :) and Wild, it's about...eleven, twelve hours or so. Have to fly over the whole of Russia!
first po5/20 plz
I think you're gonna have a great time! It'll be great to see everyone again.
sorry tijani. Ikeep trying polka
The first po 5/20 word is an extra word on Lickety's.
Thanks Wild, I'm so excited! Re-learning Korean like crazy :)
Hello tijani! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid!
oh so it's not in the puzzle
I bet it will be fine, NB. I can't believe people still have those attitudes. Sometimes even the most biased make an "exception" for someone they know. My father in law was the most prejudiced person against anyone not like him in general conversation - yet he had good friends that fit into those boxes and he considered them the "exceptions. He drove me crazy.
Oh, yes...it's pooka
Hi, cbr
thanks for the hello minver
Hi, tijani
Hi Jellen. Been gone for awhile and just came back. I finished this morning but thought I would see what was up on the chog.
hi all, clue for the po5 before the pontiff?
lbd = there isn't one. Extra word on lickety.
Well I'm hoping to get at least some who are still willing to talk to me! Not so hopeful regarding aunts, uncles grandparents etc, since they were brought up in much the same way as my parents, but maybe the cousins in my generation will be more accepting.
The first po 5/20 word is an extra word on Lickety's.
Hello cbr1965! How are you doing? Welcome to puzzle
Hi lbdawger! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid
thanks, Min.
i'm fine now that i can stop looking for that word!
Congratulations cbr1965 on finishing early!Way to go

Hi Min. Hope all is well with you. Got my kids doing Babble now. Sent my husband to our land when he came downstairs and we were all on 3 different computers Babbling!

Work hard, NB!

When I op 4/5ed up Babble and en 5/10ed Babbleland today,I was already halfway finished wi4/9 grid from starting at flip. I to 4/4 myself away from the laptop at 2:30. Now I have only th5/12 words left so here is a story of clues. It ai 4/4 me when I don't pass a test the first time. I am pr 5/12 to failing tests because I am not a good test taker. I re 6/30 my certification test several times before I passed.I had to pay many ce 4/5s to keep on taking tests.I po4/5ed over prep books before taking the tests. I even to4/8 some po 6/21 drugs to help me stay awake late studying. The questions about po 4/5ry were hard since I have not studied it since high school.Darn it! My dog thinks he should be the ce 6/21 of my attention. Dog has been pe4/5ing at me wa4/8ing for me to play wi 5/12 him. He looks at me&thinks I should take him out pr 6/21! Dog has been a good wa6/30 though as I sit here and babble all day. But now dog is la4/5ing out by barking & trying to get on4/4 my lap w/a ro4/5 toy between his te5/12. He hates to be pe4/5 up inside the house all day.Sometimes my dog is worse than a te4/4ager. I can only say no4/5 to my dog for so long. I feel like a ro 6/18 mother for neglecting him, so I am going to go play wi 5/12 him.Maybe I'll take him on a wa4/12. Jack LOVES his wa 5/26. The first wa 4/12 made him very we4/12 though because of the heat. Or Maybe I will fly a ki 4/9. He likes to tr 4/4 around and chase it. I hope you all to4/8 no4/4 of some of my clues and found more words. I'll be back later to re6/21 the list & finish & then hang out wi4/9 my babble friends.See you all later on in chat log!

Keeping both of you in our prayers - and all the other Babblers who are having bad times.
A neighbour's 8yearold came in, while his Mum ran to the market. He was sure he could see Shrek in the grid, until I explained the letters must abut. Still, he's coming by, tomorrow to 'help' me find the hard words.

Il4,8 plural of kind
hi bugs, pida, and cathy
Hi lbd! :)
We don't like the il4 of trolls around here.
il4/8 is il plus we are not in **nsas anymore and other is il plus abbreviation for state in first clue aknitter.
ty
Hi lbd and Cathy and wht and aknitter etc.
For the other drop the snake and add a vowel
yw
Hi Bugs! lol
there's that snake again
oh no, not more snakes!
tee hee hee
I came in from the heat because I was melting and discovered you all baking snakes and taters....
we are having a little snack bugsaw
How about spiders? Can we bake them? I hate spiders
*passes the snack bowl*
ewww
My fault, I left the door op4
nah, spiders are too leggy
the spiders are deep fried
i don't like spiders and snakes..... sing with me people
and the ants are chocolate covered
and that ain't what it takes...
i've never been brave enough to eat insects intentionally
Last night I saw a huge spider. It was GINORMOUS! I went to kill it.When I squished it, it popped & dozens of tiny microscopic spiders dispersed all over my floor
to love me......
I have eaten termites but only on a dare
Was like arachnophobia. Had to call hubby to gettem.
eeeewwwwww, Min!! break out the raid!
min.... that is disgusting
we need to take our act on the road knitter :)
spiders are icky poo
MIN THAT IS TERRIBLE!! some of us, like me, have that exact fear.
I've seen people in Africa grabbing swarming termites out of the air and eating them.
i don't mind spiders, but that is just gross
Or at least I think they were termites. I didn't try it.
I have to whop them with a broom in case that happens. I will have a chance to run
i am squirming just thinking about that ... ahhhh.. runs screaming from the chog
me too aknitter. see you in the grid
hands out cans of raid to everyone
ick ick ick ick
Do not mind spiders, but I have a weird phobia of the spiderwebs they make.If they did not make webs, I'd leave them alone. What would you call phobia of webs
most favorite bug is the dragonfly. great bug catchers!
internetaphobia?
My favorite bug is a ladybug. I LOVE ladybugs. But we seem to have had a big infestation of them this year.

Oh car.eeyore...I am so sorry!
He is only 7...a 16 lb blonde. Not the brightest bulb on the Christmas tree. When he got out at our other house, he was always nearby. We are now at my Mom's house. We are on a busy road and have a lot of woods with lots of creatures....not good.
set out a bowl of milk and wait. i hope he hasn't gone too far, maybe hiding under the porch or bush.
