Hi Min. Kind of sleepy...will probably only be here a few before I disappear.
Wingdings are a series of dingbat fonts which render letters as a variety of symbols. They were originally developed in 1990 by Microsoft by combining glyphs from Lucida Icons, Arrows, and Stars licensed from Charles Bigelow and Kris Holmes.

lung specialist has found a spot on my love's lung. He went in for testing for apnoea. Now we are waiting for blood test results and an appt for MRI scan.

I hope it turns out to be nothing Sprite, spots on lungs do come and go, there can be remnants of infections that will disappear in a few months. (Happened to me, was very worrying but 3rd scan over 5 months and it had gone)
One of my best friends has just got the all clear after chemo so the sky is the limit!! it was great news and it is about time Babble had some great news, so hang in there Sprite

I had my gall bladder removed - keyhole surgery, one night in the clinic and home yesterday morning.

I hope it will heal up quickly and fully. A friend of mine had hers removed and she says she can eat and drink everything now, only she must take care not to get a totally empty stomach.
It's so minor now compared to the open surgery - 4 puncture wounds instead of an open wound.

it is an amazing improvement over open surgery, that is for sure. But still pretty intense for your body to handle, I guess.

So many of us have suffered with depression and know the feeling that other people would be better off without you. That comes from irrational thinking - what seems real to you isn't always the case.

A friend of ours was visiting his brother in a mental hospital - he had only just be admitted and his brother was waiting to see him. Another patient came along and expressed his fear of what was going to happen to him.

My friend tried to be reassuring and told him that he would be assessed, people would talk to him and would put him on the right medication. Soon, he said, he would feel so much better. The patient looked at him for a while and said 'Well, right enough, it seems to have worked for you.'

actually I would think that UK laws are similar to ours here, we can committ someone for 72 hours if someone calls the police with the information of wanting to self harm.
i just popped in to see how big the grid is before i'm off, but, if it's any consolation, i believe that statistically, the real and successful suicides often say nothing before hand - the people that tell people ARE looking for help and often don't follow through. so have hope.

zooz, I don't know you but I feel very deeply that you need and want help - please listen to the wisdom of babblers, there is hope
and zooz, if you get someone who is not right for you, or helping you, ask for someone else
On top of that Zooz, kids who have parents who take their own lives are much more likely to do it also themselves, so please do not do that to your son.

Whenever I hear of anyone in a suicidal frame of mind, I wonder what I could've done to dissuade him - even if I don't know him - rich/famous, for example. Plus, I remember that we were taught despair is the great sin, thinking you can't get God's help.
My twin sister made 15 suicide attempts - she was sent from the hospital to have a filling pout back, dated the dentitst asnd has been married to him for 30 years - no further problems. We complain about the NHS but look what you get!!!
That's the thing - often treatment can help, but Zooz doesn't want to try. However, his idea is to not eat or drink, and I think that must be a hard way to go - I'm sure I'd give in for a last slice of brad or something.

I have not had any problems eating things afterwards but I did follow my doctor's suggestion that I cut down on the saturated fats and so have lost 25 lbs in the past year.

Last time, on another site, a woman from Australia saw a man in UK in real distress and contacted the UK police. As it turned out he HAD 'done the deed' with a blade, and the police were able to get there in time to save his life.

I have always said that suicide is the most selfish act anyone can do. Someone does something devastating and is not around to see their family and friends deal with the aftermath.
I agree with you Jac. I always cautioned my daughters when they were teens (some difficult years) to just give things time as situations will change and things will get better.
Nonnie - then that is the lever for her to carry on. She has two othe children and, no matter how devasted she is, she has to be there for them, especially the twin. If she is not, she will look down on their double suffering and wish she was.
It is selfish, min. But I know for someone to take that step they must be in such pain but I wish they'd stop and think what this will do to those I leave behind.

I work (volunteer) with a lot of very mentally ill people. they don't "think" they just end the pain the best way they know how, sometimes with alcohol and drugs, sometimes with suicide

You get the cases like people whose marriages have ended and they jump off a cliff holding their kids. The have NO right to end their kids' lives but that's not how they're seeing it. They are thinking it's the best thing to stop their children feeling pain and loss etc.

oh yes long ago. granted there WERE some terrible cases of mistreatment but just closing them all down with no recompense really was way worse
they did that about 20 years ago Jacula, now many mentally ill end up in the prison system because they act out in antisocial ways... and there is little support for people BEFORE they act out, even when it is clear they need help.
Fragile people who cannot cope with everyday life have been turned out onto the st7/28 here in UK.
a person can be committed to a hospital for observation up to 72 hours, after that, a doctor has to sign the commitment papers, or a legal guardian to commit for longer

you take into consideration, the cost of the residence, mortgage, taxes, then the professionals to help those in need, their salaries, health insurance, then you take into consideration overhead costs, lighting, heating, cooling, feeding, clothing...it all adds up, and governments/agencies don't have the money or don't want to spend the money on those things.

I work for a state-run residential facility for the devopmentally disabled. The feds are trying to close facilities like ours down. They have no idea what they are doing. Most of our people will have no place to go. They will be out on the streets. A lot of our people have dual diagnosis so they are severely disabled. Families have aged and cannot cope with the day-to-day care. My heart goes out the people in these situations.

I just lost a little girl a couple years ago. she had had a bad crack habit, got clean and had a great job and was in college. beautiful blondie had all the guys after her. she picked up that pipe again (what the hell was she thinking?) and was so disgusted with herself, she hung herself. But even when she was doing so good, I just knew :(
I wasn't self-made till I was thirteen.. but that is another story.

I was with my son, my daughter and her b/f in the centee of the city when we came out of the Ozzy Osbourne concert some weeks ago. A girl with heroin eyes asked if we had 'any spare change'. The kids all walked by her without another thought and grabbed my arms to make sure I did, too. I wouldn't have given her money, I'd probably have tried to take her somewhere safe. She's somebody's daughter.

zero tolerance for the driving while drunk, but some concern for the person herself... this is a medical issue (addiction) more likely than purely a decision to do something dangerous.

My thoughts...if you're uncomfortable now with her and you would rather not do business with her, then you have the right to not do business with her. If you've known her for 10 years, I would imagine you would be close enough to her to let her know why you're ending your business relationship. Maybe, just maybe, that will be a wake up call???

well Pini I am having a needle biopsy on a tumor in my breast tommorow at 3 so I am not so sure I would be good company this week-end but we will see

well the oncologist is farily certain it is a fibroadema which is a non cancerous tumor, and I have had the mamogram and ultrasound already so that is a good thing

it's the mammo after they put the clip in that hurts like a mo fo
the procedure is painless but the pain afterwards is what I am worried about they are taking 3- 5 samples
I am FULL of fibroadenomas
no mamo after they are doing it by ultrasound
they should give you something, just take it easy after - take care of yourself!
are they not putting a clip in?
and then it will be coming out soon as it is painful, but that wont be tommorow that will be next week sometime

they never said anything about a clip to me, either, but usually they put a titanium clip in to mark the spot(s) that they take samples from, so they have the location for future reference.
