hi west
wtg jilli
hi ruru -- check my bio for flickr pix of the fun you missed!
hi jilli thanks for the icon clue
yw west :)
very cute jilli.. looks like nice folk
nbt
we had a lot of fun, ruru
wtg west!
pretty cinchy tonight
and ty lol
chinchy?
brb -- dishwasher needs filling before bedtime
it was a cinch
I have done dw duty
I have a college deferment from DW duty
you're lucky
we had some very good wine for dinner ruru very fruity
what was it?
have to get the bottle so you can tell me if it's good
Schmitt Sohne Piesporter Michelsberg
Never heard of it
we get their reisling all the time
Piesporter is moderately sweet .. probably nice.. was it 2008?
yes
sounds good. I like riesling
it was a good match for the roast chicken and artichokes
hmm.. artichokes are hard on wine
they are? we enjoyed the combination
didn't cook them in the wine just drank it lol
roast chicken is a good call with it though
I am meeting dorens for lunch tomorrow.
that's great say hi from me
where are you going?
a little french Bistro I like on the Napa river
oh perfect
yeah.. the food is great
she'll be impressed I think
so nice to have you to choose the wine too
yeah.. and I am buying lunch too..lol
gets better and better
hello
hi sandy
hey loo
lol ru
I have a cousin named Sandra Louise is that your name too?
no its sandra leonie
I like louise better
my daughter is Sandra Louise
that's pretty though
she is flosey? are you my aunt? lol
lol
there was a discussion about artichokes on the radio, and how they make wines taste sweeter.
well the combination was really good
have to try it sans artichokes next time
glad it worked..
how did you prepare them west?
yes.. just some corn, and roasted potato
I made paninis tonight for dinner
ruru -- take pix at luch!
got a pot of water boiling threw in some salt and boiled them gently for 45 minutes
riesling and corn is a wonderful pairing
covered the pot
the radio suggested steaming for an hour.
oh thanks ruru
steaming works too
it's been many years since I've had them
I love chokes
first I cut the thorns off all the leaves and slice the top and stem off
me too, but love marinated artichoke hearts in a salad.
the heart is the best best part
a few gardeners here grow them, we don't
marinated artichoke hearts are so good but the warm heart in melted butter mmmm
so do I jilli, it is one of my favourites
I was surprised to see them in the market
Nicky and I are on one of those diets where you get all your meals delivered
I put them in a cold bean salad with mozzerella and roasted peppers
I must screw up my courage and get one. I'm such an uncook!
I have lost 11 lbs on my diet so far
wtg ru
sandy how is that working out?
well done there ru
whoa,sandy, that sounds wonderful!
I am worried about the wine factor
sure is ruru !!
wtg ruru. How many do you want to lose?
wine has absolutely no calories didn't you know that?
what wine factor? Verboten?
wine is only fruit juice ....no fat....surely it should be free
looking for 25 jill..
wine has a lot of calories
shhh ruru
Well, I managed 28, ru so you can too -- much easier for guys.
I like west's version better
I said it before jilli you look terrific
broken cookies don't count either.
.. but that is only crappy wine that is caloric
thanks, west!
I think I will have a little with lots of soda water in a large wine glass
you do look great in the pictures jilli
oh dear -- will swollen head add pounds?
although I am going on holiday next week so I will take that week off, mainly want nicky to start eating healthy
well, I'm off to see Jilli's pictures, then to bed, 81 left for tomorrow
goodnight all
where are the pics Jilli, are they for us to see also
goodnight flosey sleep well
night flosey -- I'm getting nowhere with this -- still 124 to go!

nite flo
sandy -- I've posted a link in my bio
ok
nite all.. see you later
night ruru!
good night ruru have a great time tomorrow
I love these photos jilli, especially the cake!
isn't it amazing? Such a clever idea pini had.
did you all eat your names?
I still had 80 words to go on the cake though .. before you ate it
jeez, just realised this big grid has no S.
My piece of cake was pure white.
*peuffe*
Morning all how many words
have we been blessed with lickety?
182 sandra
182 sandra
Thanks
I just found the grits
I love those photos jilli, they are gorgeous and i love you great danes
oh thanks, sandy!
and thanks west!
I think this is a hard grid
so do I, and the last one was so nice.
it was , usually i get over halfway before i look at the list but so far I only have 48
well, i will keep trying
they are coming slowly but surely but mostly they're hiding
hi all. late flip for me
hi m
hi m9
great pictures, Jilli, looks like you had a wonderful time
now off to bed
we did, flosey, and missed you!
where are the pics?

woo hoo you're hot !!
are they both re's?
(not smirking)
rea is the 9
ok thanks for that
the other is em9
and Lickety is up
thanks jilli
weird I typed something and it went into some black hole or something.
creepy!
I'm collecting all your good words m
I'll sell them back to you
fun pics! I love the dog on the chair! ANd the party hats. You DO look great jilli!
you're a black hole west?
thanks, m9!
I could be lol
got the em
good 4 u west :)
thanks for the help
hoopray -- hafway!
so what year were you born Jilli? 27?
yes, m9
wtg jilli !!
that was supposed to be hooray, halfway, duh!
my mom was 22
hoop it up!LOL
like my bridge partner, m9 ;)
brb.. going to other puter..
obviously bedtime for moi!
can you believe it's been a week since you left for the meet up?
sometimes time goes very fast and sometimes very slowly... depending...LOL
how long did it take you to get there?
know what you mean m
well, I'm just getting back down to earth, west.
goes pretty fast now
wasn't it nice of stid to make gifts? where does she find the time?
she carves it out of nothing!
hmm -- 5 minutes to the ferry, half an hour wait for it, 25 minutes crossing, hour and a half to the other ferry, hour and a half crossing, 2½ hours to the hotel (stopped for a meal). Dear bugs did the driving.
oh, forgot had to wait for the 2nd ferry an hour and a half because of reservation.
that's a great ferry ride though... did you say "hi" to my parents??LOL
You do the math!
Where are your parents, m9? I forgot.
We did the Coho, Victoria to Port Angeles.
My Dad threw my mom's ashes off the Coho and we all threw dad's off.
they DID live in Port Angeles in their later years
Nice to get a 40 of Smirnoff for $14.95 at the Duty Free coming home, too!
Oh m9, what a great sendoff for them!
good morning everybody
Hi ruby!
We finally got the UK's rain and it's beautiful!
well... I'll have to tell you about my poor Dad's sometime. eek.
Ruby -- I have a link to the pix of our babble gathering in my bio.
m9 -- what is your icon about?
My dad mixed my mom's ashes with marine grade cement in a little pail...and just threw the whole pail over I guess. No one else was there. He did that by himself. And then he told my sister exactly when to throw his off, so they'd be about the same place.
yesterday's grid.
oh my, m9!
your icon is yesterday's grid? I thought that was the 3 little pigs etc...
what an interesting chog this morning!
My dad told me once (paraphrasing) "you know, folks get buried and for the first few years someone might put flowers on their grave, but after a while they get forgotten, except for people like your aunt that travels around cleaning off her ancestor's headstones. Those pretty little sea anemonies will grab on there, and your mom will always have flowers."
I got ahead of myself jilli.
m9: that is really touching and SO true!
I think he also liked it that his house looked out over the straight, so he could see that area of water all the time.
m9, I love that. What made them so attached to those waters?
ah, I see.
my Dad was a bargeman for 32 years out of seattle. Travelled up to Canada and through those waters a lot
I'd like to be chucked into vEsuvius Bay where I like to swim in the sea, but I don't hink it would be appreciated by the other swimmers.
hmmm -- maybe dropped off the ferry to Crofton...
I'm back I got lost but caught up with the chat and hello ruby
hello westford!
and in about 1940 he and a pal built a small wooden sailboat and sailed it up through your area and much further North
you are able to swim in the sea, jilli? Isn't it really cold there?
well, I guess I'll go to bed -- lots to do tomorrow.
his friend wrote it up and it was in wooden boat magazine. I recently got a copy of the article when my cousin went through her mom's storage.
that's a really sweet story about your mother and dad m
not so many wooden boats any more
ruby, Vesuvius Bay is the warmest spot on the island -- summer temps up to 72F (22C)
oh that is nice and warm jilli
West, stid's dad just refurbished a wooden boat.
a lot of work I'll bet
here the lake is 55F all year. I know people who swim across, but they do it with a boat in tandem, just in case. I think they're insane!
I miss sailing!
I should add some pix from their living room...maybe tomorrow
let us know when you do it ruby
don't hold yur breath! hahah
swim not sail lol
can't you sail on your lake?
we average about 59 here
the only place I could ever swim (paddle around, that is) was in Miami when the ocean was more than 80F
it is too small for ocean sailing which is what we did off Miami
love that FL water
we sold the boat before we came here
it's like taking a bath
me too, when it's calm
exactly!
It's always calm here -- sheltered.
that sounds wonderful, jilli, and swimming is supposed to be the best exercise of all, that is, if you don't sink!
I've been a water baby since I was 3.
not me, unfortunately, I sink like a stone
my mother was a good swimmer; my father wouldn't go near the water except to fish
i saw recently that my uncle's last boat was for sale up in your area jilli
he was a marine architect and boat designer
My mum taught me to swim, then I did have lessons for racing and diving at that great pool in Shanghai.
when are you writing your memoirs, jilli?
My mum did the side-stroke and my dad the trudgeon -- like the crawl with a scissor kick!
when pigs fly, I think, ruby.
I've been hearing about flying pigs, lately!
NBT! painlessly, for once
too bad I'm not in the boat market, m9!
http://tinyurl.com/23kldwb isn't she beautiful?
wtg ruby!
gj ruby the rest is not
she costs about exactly the same as my house!
no 7's, 8's or 9's!
oh wtg ruby!
I'm stuck on two tiles
nice boat m and nice size
gape
wow, m9 -- what a boat!!! Beautiful!
yes, kje, you might well gape at m9's uncle's boat!
kjg, that is
that was the one he was working on when he died of leukemia. The plan was that he and my aunt and two cousins were going to sail around the world...
hello kje
hubby was an ocean sailor and the crew could take dates along on weekends those were the days
oh dear, m9!
whoops, hello anyway, I thought you were kje but welcome!
btw, pb for jilli! she can swim over.....
i sent that link to my cousin and she was thinking of driving up to Canada just to see her.
the best-laid schemes gang aft agley...
does she have any interest in doing the sail?
I don't think so. she was about 8 at the time.. or so..
very rough time to lose one's daddy
for sure
I was just copying kjg
help with lowest a? a stat?
and the other a in that column?
I have one, skin condition
ap4/5 I think
yes
and the flying prefix for the upper one
I'm really going to bed now -- night all! and *poof*
that must be anathema tome! I missed it last time too!
night jilli
good night jilli sweet dreams
{{jilli}} as yu float by
NBT!! thank you for the help!
ruby have you decided on the kitten?
wtg m
~~~giggle~~~
well lookie who's still here!??!? LOL
I'm afraid that if it became a hunter and went after his birds or fish, I'd be in big trouble. Snadyloo suggested a beauceron pupy!! raofl
I remember she has such a great sense of humor
or I might wear a beauceron mask and shout "Surprise!"
oh no LOL
yikes.. I thought the idea was to cheer up his attitude.. not kill him with shock!
only kidding.....
that would snap him right out of it
LOL
and we'd see ruby swimming across that lake
I heard about a German shepherd that went down to the local beach and was biting people in the water last month
all these stories surface at once
that's horrible
peat
moss
and here I thought my dog was being so naughty cause he was eating off the table.
whoops, sorry, are there any croissants in the PB?
and repeat were down by the lake.....
how big is your dog?
must be there's always everything good
I remember croissants in Marseilles
my first chow used to do that if I turned my back -- once ate a whole French cheese in a flash
not like poppin' fresh
black ate 1.5 lbs of cheddar last week
tonight was spaghetti sauce
if you can imagine, we are in a really small village and there are 3 bakeries!
these dogs know what they like
OMG!
he ate spaghetti sauce?
and probably left the spaghetti.....
it was a very meaty sauce.. with sausage..LOL
cute!
mmmmm..... french bakeries! I'd be huge.
how big is this dog?
he's such a sweetie.. can't stay mad at him for long\
but none of the 3 makes decent pastry!
he's a medium sized dog. 1/2 border collie, 1/2 springer spaniel
very agile, I guess
oh VERY
sounds like a great combination!
he easily jumed my friend's 4 1/2 foot fence
now if you could just teach him to cook.....
jumped
yep.. got him at the local pet adoption place as a wee puppy.
he's such a happy boy.
he'll sit for ages with treat on his nose, until you say "ok!"
very eager to please.
still piddles when excited.
and a bit of separation anxiety, but it's getting better.
big thunder! poor Ruby is by my feet
ohh... poor ruby
piddling is the spaniel part, I bet!
she's very upset, looking for a place to hide....
only 72 words and really enjoying this chog, but I have to make blackberry jelly now or the quart I picked yesterday will spoil.
*ppof* and big hugs everybody
poor poor ruby!
bye ruby!
I'm working on the beauceron mask lol
{{m9}}
{{ruby}}
Good morning. Is anyone here?
Just started Sally. Hi
Hi lynxxx, seemed to have been nothing in the chog for over an hour and a half.
hi i am on the phone
That sometimes happens about this time Sally
I am here, finally NBT and at a dead standstill.
hi DizGrannie, not even halfway and wondering where the rest is
off the phone now, I am having trouble with this one
Hi diz. I have over half now but think this grid is evil! Relying heavily on morewords at the moment.
hi Sandy
maybe my brain has fallen out
hi lynxx
me too sally, I only got to 72 words on my own
Sally, over half way...lucky you...LOL
at least I have the 9's but no 8's
hey sandy, lynxx,dizgrannie, Sally
hey daycat!
I have one 9, 3 of the 8s.
oopsie twas really a K
hi Daykat
I'vve got 81 words, thanks to morewords, I think my brain has turned to mush too
hi daycat, I was going to ask you to send me an email and give me your phone number so we can discuss the chooks - or I will be happy to give you mine if you would prefer
I'll do that Sandy - just picked up your email address from your profile
Are you discussing chooks? I love discussing chooks!
lol sal, daycat has some lovely chooks and is going to let me get some off her
will send an em later sandy. OK?
our nice rooster has turned evil and has started chasing me
ok day
I LOVE chooks
Ah, too far for me to collect sadly.
hmm sally, I think australia post would balk at posting chooks
and too many immigration laws
I could post pics though!
My top hen has turned nasty and is pecking the new girls so she is now in quarantine to protect the others and to lower her place in the pecking order!
that would be great
much as it goes against all my feminist principles, having a rooster keeps the girls in line. Charlie watches over them with a steely eye and chats them if they misbehave!
When I say "new" girls, I realise I have had them 3 months now. So time to take a firm hand.
none of our girls have ever been a problem but the boys have been a disaster
see - thats what your rooster is doing Sandy, keeping you in line while your husband is away
They get such a lovely life, its that testosterone thing again
I did wonder about borrowing a rooster. Sort of rent-a-stud.
but we are the bosses. I have been monstered by a ram, several times, but never by a rooster except for a nasty little bantam rooster once who was viscious, but thankfully small enough to manage
lol lynxx, the rooster has taken to stalking me if it sees me outside without the dogs
Maybe Daykat can give you a few clues when you catch up
sounds like a cse for the pot sandy!
*case
I just cant eat those roosters, I can eat everything else tho
did you try the trick of holding him under your elbow Sandy (mind you I am giggling at the thought)
I am hoping he will start to see me as pack leader LOL I live in hope, he is very handsome
they would be tough as old boots Sandy (that testosterone again) but would make wonderful stock
or fertiliser for your roses
ha ha Lynxx, I cant get near him, it would take all day to catch him
no roses here day, no garden yet , that is a long way off
have to go, guests arrving later
bye Daykat
oldest daughter has just arrived here , so I suppose I will have to pretend to welcome her and get back to babble later bbs
sandy, perhaps you should wear a hat with large red bits on so he thinks you are a very large rooster!
and a face feather tail (i could try that)
bye Sandy...good idea Sally has there
Just don't forget the photos :-)
got to put a lasagne together BBS
back again, now watching masterchef, talking to daughter and playing this
lol sandy, multi-tasking with a vengeance.
indeed but masterchef not good to watch on this diet
phantom: antimale
And not phantom but not allowed: heman
Suppose it is hyphenated.
maybe
Well, fireworks but with no sense of satisfaction since I had to rely so heavily on morewords. There were just so many words I had never heard of, let alone couldn't see.
Do you want any clues sandy?
yes I need 92 clues
well done even so sally
hmmm an 7 and 8 please
Well if you change the end of your phantom, to a different description of that sex, you get an an7/32
ok looking,,
If you were all for computers and against old-fashioned ways of printing newspapers, you would be an 8/55
If someone was all sleepy and sluggish, you might try to an 7/32 them
got that 7 looking for the 8
Then the last an 7 is an 7/40. Do you want to talk about chooks? an*****!
got the last ones just that an8
an8: first four letters meaning against, last four being old fashioned way of produing print
*producing*
ok .....
Love your honesty, Sally. Feel the same way about this grid. Never heard of many of these words.
I could never finish without help from morewords
Well nurse, I don't mind resorting to morewords if I have to, but this grid was way beyond my abilities without it.
have you another clue for the an 7-40 please
I feel somehow hard done by!
ooh I feel it coming to me
got it!!!thankyou sal
lol! Good sandy.
nm got it
Did you get the am 7/32?
yes i have that
I will struggle on
If you have the an 7/32, you can do it again to get one of the 9s.
thanks for the an8 :-)...wonder why you cannot add a `r` to the end of that word...lol
I think I try that every time for the last part of that word, zooz.
just to make sure it doesn't work in the southern hemisphere, i'll try it too...
lol
nope, but it's good to get it out of my systerm
Must be difficult for you gort, with all the letters falling out of the grid like that.
yes, and the constant throb of the extra blood in my head, and having to type with my feet
lol, especially having to do so in the pb.
tsk tsk Sally 5:57 :-)
here in upside down land, the pb is a place of honour...bromate
ohhh no way, that was a total guess and it's a word
oh dear, so I did. But I've finished - so the pb holds no fears for me.
that would have to be the most ozzie of all words!
LOL, youre mad Gort
darn tootin', zoom, just tried vegiemite's little brother, bromite, but it isn't a word
oh WTG Sally..sorry did not realise you had finished.
No, but just change one letter ...
thats the one i tried earlier Gort..but did not have your one..lol
yeah i did that at 6:01
so you're quite mad too then, zoom?
it helps Gort..it helps :-)
amen; r u also an insomniac?
i`m afraid so Gort :-(
you must be the long lost brother that i thought my parents ate
*gort notices awkward silence* i kid, i kid, they haven't eaten anyone
this week
Sorry, gort, had a phone call.
Hello Gort & Zooz!
phew, thought i'd scared you off with my loony canibalism
heya lyn
hey there would not be much of a meal with me..might make a good stock though..LOL
Hello, lynxxx
hello everybody
hi ruby
back from lunch with 72 words from this AM!
Hello, Ruby :-)
biomate is not a word, biomate is not a word, biomate is not...
hi Ruby
hi all , I am quite distractedhere, and hi to you zooz
hey sandy
yes..yes...i still tried it..even tho you said it is not..lol
bonjour ruby
hi gort
I hope it is a nice distraction for you Sandy!
extra LOL zoom
daughter here, come dine with me on, and this
How are things Zooz? did Doc sort out the meds?
Hi ruby, was just putting laundry on. How are things?
deux daughters here
hi kidz
Yes..thanks Lynxxx...i have settled a bit..i do have my off days though :-
Hello, jean!
morning Espritd
hang tight zooz
((Z))
this sounds like a cookoo chog. And I've just gotten back from lunch and two grapppas!!!
hi lyn
bonjour (encore) everybody.
Great Zooz, remember we are always here for you
ruby, I really think you haven't a hope on this one without using morewords.
bonjour ruby
hopefully, I'll fit right in!
then I haven't a hope..... :(
Hey, it's no big deal to use more words - no more so than using clues from the chog. Just more satisfying without :-)
yeah what sally said
Anyway, I am here to clue if needed.
I'm too relaxed to do much more than this. LOL
comment allez-vous Ruby *smug grin with the massive knolledge of my french*
Beats sorting out the accounts :-)
I need 89 clues
and 8 or 9 would be appreciated! but I'm OK without LOL
yeah, what sally said again (sally, r u an oracle?)
c'est gentil zzoozz! Comment vas-tu?
oracle sally, saved the fish!
hang on ruby..just putting it into google..lol
OK, try to get the an 7/32 which means to get someone excited about something. Then do it again to get a 9!
Je m'appelle Sandy
I learned, this AM, that the mayor doesn't have the authority to have the bad dog put down. It will have to be muzzled until the court date (in Nov), but will be allowed to live here. And the police said I should hire a lawyer!
I learned, this AM, that the mayor doesn't have the authority to have the bad dog put down. It will have to be muzzled until the court date (in Nov), but will be allowed to live here. And the police said I should hire a lawyer!
Je suis bien Merci Ruby :-)
Comment allez vous Ruby?
an 8/55: first four letters meaning aginst, last four meaning old-fashioned way to set newsprint.
le plume de mon oncle ces't grande (the pen of my uncle is grande?)
lucky uncle!
sorry, aginst :> against
LOL
parlez lentement gort
yeah, my uncle's got it made, as his pen is even grander than the garden of my aunt
i couldn't have put it better myself, sandy
et la tante? Qu'est-ce qu'elle dit?
:-) sandy
I am perpetually tired, these days.
Did you get any of those clues ruby, amid the pens of your parents' siblings?
that's "pen" and "is" with a gap between them
Not surprised ruby.
I guess making 3 pots of blackberry jelly this morning is a good excuse, or at least, I hope so.....
haha, gort
I missed all the clues, just too tired....
Oooh, love blackberry jelly. Our blackberries aren't quite ready yet I think.
with hand-picked blackberries that you plucked from beside a charming, slightly run-down railway station near a babbling brook?
Ruby, do you have a blackberry produce store
they are here sally, really nice.
thank you zoom, you're a kind bromate
our are many this year, but not very sweet. They go to mold and fat without ever developing the sweetness
We certainly have the babbling brook, gort, but no realway station within 5 miles.
no no, I had them planted 13 years ago in the bottom of the garden
ahhh, you make me pine for the berry-growing bounty of ye olde england where i hatched
no railway or brook here.
After the torrential rain yesterday, I think ours will go mouldy too.
I have to go bbl
this is a fruity place
bye sandy.
yes, every time it rains, many go mouldy!
cheerio, sandy
{{{sandy}}}
this rain of which you speak...
I owe you a long letter, sandy!
We actually lit the log burner yesterday, the weather was so depressing.
I will try to arrange to ship the rain to you, gort
...i've heard people talk about it, but i assumed (living on the driest continent on earth) that it is myth
we had a big storm this AM and are expecting another tonight
Yes & lots of it Gort...you can have ours too if you really want it.
And once more into the pb, gort!
lets do an interhemispherical swap; i'll send you our wind and dust, you fill the pb with rain
I thought the Isle of Wight was always sunny and bright, zooz :-)
what I don't understand is why the people who live where there are monsoons don't save the water and then use it when they haven't any! People die of floods in India and Pakistan and then don't have any drinking water 3 months later. ?????
ooh thanks Sally..i missed that word in the grid :-)
:-)
thank you for my** gort; I didn't see it (quel surpris!)
i'm here to serve
so did we/i when first moved here Sally...was soon proven wrong :-(
nap time (I hope) now.
*poof*
There's another my word in the grid as well, a bird.
sweet dreams Ruby :-)
{{zzoozz}}
see you later
Bye ruby.
{{sally}}
[[[gort]]]
nighty night ruby
thanks for the extra squeeze
mmm...you have blackberry breath
if i clam up now, will you all come back?
*gort slinks off unnoticed into the night*
...arrives just in time to be left feeling very exposed and nervous in an apparently empty chog
Sorry, gort, was looking at fb. Must go myself now anyway. Bye everyone.
Is there something picking people off?
This grid surely will if nothng else gets them first, city.
lol, Sally, well get out while you still can. I'll hold it off with a big stick
It't an evil one.
It's all right, I have finished, with heavy use of morewords.
I noticed that earlier, while I struggled to get from 90 left to 80 left
Have you just started or do you need any clues before I go?
I'm still flailing at it semi-contentedly Sally :) Thanks, though.
OK, *gone*
Sorry,was on phone again.
*yells* have a good day!
Bye Sally & Gort :-)
Hello, City :-)
Hey zooz, who's winning, you or the grid?
good morning babblers :)
to be honest City..i have not done much of the grid..150 more to find.
morning nono :)
Hello, Nono :-)
zooz, city, how goes it?
Not bad, here, how about you?.
i was able to get nbt quite quickly but from there it seems to be a struggle
glad to hear it zooz! I'm doing well thanks
there are some nice words, today, but not obvious ones
Yay, I got a 9
Hi City & Nono
My favourites so far are an Indian spirit, and an East Indian tree :)
Good going Lynxxx!
hi Lyn
me too lynxxx... is it the same one, and shall we swap if not? em9.
no need to swap, but maybe there is 2. let's look
Have you listed yet, do you know what we're looking for? *monkeys poke at grid aimlessly*
no, not listed - YET. only got 83 so far
it is a redo word City
hmmm, found the indian tree but not the spirit
thanks zooz
whoo - and now an 8 - no stopping me (I lie!)
Go Lynxxx gooooooo, you are on fire!
the spirit is a nature one, and more usually spelt with an extra vowel on the end I think.
think I am tuckered out finding those 2 and I need to eat some dinner - back in a bit
later lyn
Enjoy your meal Lynxxx
layer lynxxx
did you findthe other 9 City?
*laughs hollowly* no.
I may be somewhat encumbered by my lack of 7s, if it's an 're'
ok a clue for you...the last 4 letters are what you call a friend ma4
hey, I just got that one and cussed it for being a 4
wow, these aren't exactly flying off the fingertips today.... is it me or the grid?
its the grig kje, it's evil!
Hello, Kje :-)
definitely the grid, kje
* grid
* grid
whew! good to know... thought I had gotten stupid during sleep ; )
any help with at7/40? ty
don't have it yet nurse
afterwards, nurse, you'll say 'thank you' and I'll say 'an7/40'
ty 17
oops, wrong one... perhaps you'll say 'don't be an idiot' instead o_o
ty City
lol...oh bless you City :-)
I don't have at7/40, sorry to get you all excited ;)
the at 7/40 is the one I just can't get.
YAY re9
but City what you clued is at7/40 :)
at 7/40 the pinecone- or heart-shaped fruit of this tree, having a sweet, edible, white pulp.
that's an an7/40
ooops no it wasnt LOL
or AT 7/40 a tropical tree of the Philippines that is a hybrid of the cherimoya and sweetsop.
had to look up the meanings as did not know how else to clue them..lol
ty zooz, for that (horrible to find!) and the re9 which I thought was going to kill me
good morning all! just came on, and already the phanton "payment" is making me nutso!
ty zoozzoom, never would have found it.
hi champ... I'm being bugged by 'harbor' and I'm British and don't even spell it that way :(
the phantom banana is killing me - good morning babblers
Hey Cham!...i tried that earlier too...lol
yw Nurse :-)
morning, all -- a belated congrats on how well your son is doing, river!! :-)
Hello, River!
Ohhhhhh...now you've done it River! Transfer of phantom!
have a good one!
boya
screwed that up - boy, isnt that a nice this
not there River :)
lucky for me cosmo
hello Cosmo :)
hi
hi Cosmo
got only 93 words.. it is hard..
thats 10 more than I have Cosmo
agreed, Cosmo, I've got 110 and the rest are refusing to come out
I only have 60 - not bad in 15 minutes
yesterday's grid was bigger..but faster..
this one is average size but a bit challenging
Im getting hungry repeatedly seeing the sandwich phantom
*notices that it's lunchtime* ... that's my cue to make myself a non-phantom sandwich. Enjoy the grid, folks
bye city
what sandwich?
bye City
panini phantom
mmmmmm
agreed River...
hmmm - panini and a banana - hmmm
Hi, back. The pumpkin and goats cheese lasagne I made was pretty good, tummy feels very happy
wb lyn
Hi lynxxx - thats quite a different combination
yes definitely differnt but sounds good
y
I may have to list before I even get half way - sad sad sad
goat chees and anything...good!
used butternut pumpkin, but I think you call is butternut squash in the States
any sauce?
or just the layered noodles, cheese and squash
Pasata/basic tomato sauce, also spinach...I'll find the recipe
http://www.lifestylefood.com.au/recipe s/1734/pumpkin-spinach-and-goats-chees e-lasagne
thanks lynxxx
kje - didn't get the Tiramisu recipe, wasn't happy about doing the joining credit number thing, even if you could cancel. Hey - are you STILL in your bed?
that sounds sooooo good lyn!
It is, fuss free too
I did a stuffed squash last nite, a summer squash with a corn bread stuffing and sprinked with parmesan cheese
we just had eggplant from our garden - this the season.....
just have to check out what a summer squash is
for sure River!
summer squash - yellow crook neck, zucchinni, patty pan
etc
I AM still in my bed
its a soft squash lyn something like zuccini but its yellow and shaped more like a butternut
like zucchini but yellow usually
it is later than I thought though.... 0730... should get moving soon
I like to slice it and saute with onions and garlic
summer squash is a catch bag for multiple varieties that have edible skins
get the ends nice and crispy - hmmmm
I thought you had been there for days kje! 'cause I notice that banana and nut cake receipe is STILL not there - not that I am nagging or anything
slice it, spray with olive oil, sprinkle with salt, pepper ad parmesan, and broil until just tender
LOL lynxxxxxxxxx
We grew zucchini once, I think it put me off it for life...you can eat or give away that much
yup thats a healthier version than mine
ditto lynxxx
but makes great bread - bake bake bake and freeze freeze freeze
stuffed zucchini flowers were very big here for a few years
Hi bichon - just noticed how you slid right in there
what a nice way to put it
had zuccini lasgne a few days ago
I've not been on here for a few days. Stayed up late last nite and got over 100 words in a short amount of time.
geez - now I keep seeing the phantom pecan - must be time for breakfast
Now I'm getting hungry
geesh bichon, I've been on for over an hour and still dont have 100
so what can we do with a panini, a banana and pecans - lol
sounds like a sweet grilled sandwich River LOL
ok, lynxxxx... typing it in now
aaaahhhhhggg! you're killing me!!!
me either Nono - not even close
Nono, that was yesterday's grid. Today, I've only gotten 31
you OK Champ?
rivers killing me with the phantoms... ;)
and my favorite kind of tomato is actually in the grid but not a real word
build onto it River
itty should be a real word
so sorry Champ - breakfast time coming up in 20 minutes - all I see is food....
just had mine, but it was boring...
oh thanks for clarifying that bichon. I almost thought you were super human for a moment
Hey Babblers! Where is aknitter? ya4 is in the grid for her.
Hi Scrabbs
morning Scrabs!
ty Scrabs
hi Scrabs
morning scrabs
mine will be boring too - wheat toast is all I have for today with my cup of tea
Scrabs, my granddaughter's new preschool has a hopping around bunny in it
yo
*squeal* Although I fear for the bunny's safety + well-being. Bunnies can get stressed out.
yo, tceicher
yo
Yo, dudes + dudettes. Wassup?
I think they work very hard to keep it stress free. 16 3 y.o.'s. They also have children's sewing machings and the kids actually sew projects
Sewing--how cool! Sounds very Waldorf-curriculum-like.
Got to take the bichon for his grooming. Talking about stress
Yes, but also Emilia Reggiano
They weave, garden, compost
I managed to catch Miss Bea last night to groom her--she is shedding like crazy and has thick, satiny fur.
Biscuit doesn't like being groomed, but he's pretty stoic [16 1/2 years old]
hi everyone!
my dogs fur is coming out in clumbs - its unbelieveable - I take the furminator to them every day and still it flies
hi ((Mom))
{{Nono}} good morning
morning! River, having the same troubles here. fur everywhere!
River, my cat sheds like that
lynxx?
He is a good age Bichon
Bichons don't shed, but have to have haircuts
Hi Champ
{{KJE}} good morning
Aha. http://tinyurl.com/294s7l
hello daykat
mt
lynxxx - do you know how to make sour milk, or do I need to put that in
hi Mom & WV & Daykat
hi Mom, Lunxx, river everybody:)
hi Mom, Lunxx, river everybody:)
oops Lynxxx
Hi daykat + wv
hi, all. kje, my book is done: https://www.createspace.com/3402609
hi daykat
Sure I can find out - maybe substitute with a light sour cream
congrats angel!
{{River}} hello! I am reading 1st to Die, and only have 60 more pages to go. Wow, what a page turner!
kje--are you heading to Binghamton after the sailing trip?
Well done Angel!
Yahoo Angel!!
no - just put appr a tbsp of vinegar in the bottom of whatever you are using to measure the milk - the milk will curdle..... can sub buttermilk if you want
I am considering it scrab... maybe - not exactly easy to get to
lemon juice also works to make butter milk
TY
Mom - I am glad you like it - I loved the whole series - up to 8 books now
that would work too angel - the vinegar/milk thing is a good trick to remember b/c who has sour milk or buttermilk stocked all the time - but the vinegar and milk thing you always have - my mom taught me thatr
you are up to 8 or he is up to #8 in the writing
I always use the vinegar now - hardly ever buy buttermilk
Hi. You can curdle soy milk buy using apple cider vinegar
he has 8 books in the series - I have read and enjoyed them all - love the characters
yep - apple cider is what I use b/c that is what I stock (besides my expensive salad vinegars) but any acid will do
hi Herin
Bye kids! Must get ready for a hiking adventure to the country forestry trails. BBL
Hello
bye scrab
are sour milk and buttermilk the same? I thoughgt buttermilk just had a high cream content
I make my vegan cup cakes with that method
bye scraabs
bye scrabbs - enjoy your day
Hi Herin
bye Scrabs, have fun
I am enjoying them as well. As soon as sweetie leaves for work I am finishing the last 60 pages. Tried last night but couldn't, but then couldn't sleep either, trying to figure out how it will end
no, they are not the same, but serve the same function - buttermilk is almost fat free... it is NOT high fat.... it is high acid
bye bye Scrabbler
it is the acid you need in those recipes - helps the baking soda to work properly
time for my breakfast and work - got to run for now - happy babbling everyone
TY - my cooking lesson for the day
bye bye {{River}} have a good day
sour milk is sour milk... LOL - I think those old cookbooks used up ingedients consistent with their capability to keep things fresh in that era
bye river! see you this evening!
bye River
Bye River
the cookbook was from the 1930s or so
Nice Cake
opps I meant KJE
I have seen lots of old recipes that call for sour milk
the first Betty Crocker cookbook has a list of substitutions in it
for when you don't have what you need
gotta stop hitting enter so quick
{{Herin}} good evening
How clever and useful
this is the banana bread i grew up with - so I really do not like other people's - they all seem too heavy to me
lynxxx - I also have a killer date nut bread recipe that I will give you some day - amazing stuff... and OTT with a smear of cream cheese on it
I have a very old cook book - (circa 1945) that has all sorts of handy tips like the sour milk one in it
I love banana bread
That brings back memories - Mum used to make that for herself. I think I even have some roll tins somewhere
Hi all
Hi Boo
hi Boo
hi Boo
Hi Boo
hi Dorens, big date today?
I believe we are in the same bracket/decade there girlfriend
I helped organize an anti bryant demonstration when for some bizarre reason she was asked to speak at the ABA meeting in Houston
Can anyone clue the at 7/40 for me?
apparently there is a "women of faith" conference at the verizon center today. lots of (im sure lovely) ladies milling about -- and standing in my way...heh and of course, the abortion protesters are right there with them. :/
really? I haven't looked at dcist yet today
after midnight, bed for me, night all
walked past a man with very large, colorful, detailed photos of things i really didnt want to see on friday morning.
bye lynxxx good to see you
good morning lynxxx
good morning, folks - how goes it?
hi jbv
I am anxious for news about our dear NB - has anyone heard from him?
i really should go do something constructive -- i have yet to make it downstairs
NB is or was here and having a good time
JBV -- he was just here a second ago, but seems to have fallen silent...
Never mind - found it. Fireworks
oh, thank goodness
whoo hoo anike!
TY = off to bed. Happy babbling
I had a coffee crisis this morning - my Farberware electric which I love just completely died, then I made espresso with my husband's pot and I misjudged the proportions and it came out like mud, so I'm digging out an antique stove-top coffee pot for a third try
that is a sad sad story jbv
i need a new coffee machine since i gave mine to my boy for his new apartment
Eva I usually give those protesters a bit of a mouth ful
using a french press but not getting the coffee strong enough
aww JM that is sweet
and if you believe in coincidences or serendipity - the only other pot I have is the old stove-top percolator which my father used to make coffee at night (I know, most people think it's strange) and today is the anniversary of his death so I was thinking of him when I woke up
we have a bunn and it works well
i have my moments herin ;-)
then you were meant to use it today JBV
i drink coffee at night too jbv
me too
Eva
i think it is a genetic thing since my grandfather drank a cup before bed
im here, im here. just skuttling around the office and only half paying attention. :)
half paying attention to work or babble?
help with the A on the bottom please
a little from column A, a little from column B...
lol
Eva with those sort of protesters I get the urge to say ''if I wanted your opinion I would have beaten it out of you''
herin you would have appreciated my boy -- every time the antifur people protested at the nearby department store he would walk by with a piece of (fake) fur and stroke it
well, i have to say, for a protester, he was quite well-mannered. just standing there, not shouting anything or yelling at anyone. and was even standing off to the side so as to not be in the way of daily commuters.
bottom a - think bees and pimples
ty bethn
hi all, sneaking in a few words at work
yvw
story of my life bethn
Eva that is good we had some out side of a women's clinic and I told them off. I told them to go to a church and do their thing. This place did also deal with general womens issues
Hi Beth
clue for an 5/10
JM I have nothing against anti fur
i just read a self improvement book that totally approves of playing games at work
JM farmed fur is cruel and not needed.
down to 48, and the going is verrrrry slow now
lets send the author money, i like his thought process : )
i dont wear fur but have no interest in people throwing blood on my fake fur
i felt exonerated in all the times i have played babble at my office!
ALL fur is cruel and unnecessary. What kind of human can skin an animal alive when there are such good fake alternatives available? It makes my skin crawl.
morning, folks
that is a little gross.
and what of your employees jmc
Hi Welki
i tell them i dont care if they play computer games or chat online as long as the work gets done
i have decided to leave early today so i feel guilty for not being productive, but not enought to stop
got any openings.....lol
JM were these certain protesters wearing Nike?
no no bethn the books says that taking a break every 90 minutes improves productivity
help with an 5/10 please
and it recommends a 30 minute afternoon nap
lol herin i didn't check
an5/10 - what's on each side of your head.
i would never go out and buy a brand new fur anything because i do much agree that it is wrong. but i am actually ok with vintage furs -- i figure if they died before i was born and i cant go back and prevent that, people may as well get as much use out of them as possible to at least somewhat justify it... maybe warped logic...
I dont even get an afternoon break - once lunch is done at 1 it is straight through to 4:30
ty Haz
You're welcome, Boo
hi haz
thanks Haz - did have that yet
No problem, River - hello all.
It's more than a little gross. It's horrifying :s
The Way We are Working is Not Working by Tony Schwartz
what can i say -- some people believe that they are entitled to do anything to force other people to comply with their self-righteous beliefs
NB I meant the blood bombs on people and fur fake
that is a good set bethn -- you are lucky
NB - if you're here or lurking (or reading back in chat) just want you to know I'm sending out hugs and lots of good wishes to you
my solution was to always be the boss
and your cousins are beautiful - you definitely have good genes in your family
NB ou home?
hello jaz!
oops haz
Hello TO!
hi TO
hello, enya is in the grid. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
phone - must actually go to work bye
I noticed.
Hi All can anyone help please with the at7/40?
no a fan i take it
And there's a river in Ireland to go with her.
bye bethn
begin with m?
Well Jmc, when some people feel they are 'entitled' to do whatever they want to animals, regardless of how much they are making the poor things suffer, don't you think there's a cause for it?
No, B - Boyne.
no nb i don't
is mohr a river?
JBV...thank you! :) I am trying to keep up with this chat and the messenger
You're thinking of the Cliffs of Moher.
i don't even think there is cause for it when people think they should kill people in the name of a country defense or justice
ah.
so glad to see you here! do you feel the invisible force of babblers across oceans and time zones?
good morning everyone;)
hi crossy
And a town in Scotland, Oban. It's just a shame that it's so hard to find words on the list.
i was going for nbt but i really gotta go do stuff
bbl
i once had a client who would cryif you squished a bug. but she didn't give a rat's patootie about the folks around her.
Hello crossy, bye jmc.
rat's patooties are hard to come by though TO
actually sprayed Raid on someone's sandwich.
She probably worried about the rat's patootie. (Must look up patootie or is it patooty?)
Clue for an 7/40
i would of sued his ass off for trying to poison me
actually it was her mother she tried to poison
I think ie haz.. like cutie patootie
good lord.....i would of just killed him then and make another look just like him
oh well.. her mother.. that explains it
her
she, crossy. she.
right that is it for me. I am off
an7/40 - at a convenient moment.
went on to grow up and be a top model
see below,i corrected myself
Or an7/40 - finishes with what the clock tells.
two an7? and i here with none? :(
ty haz,you can clue me an*****:)
You're welcome, crossy.
an7 x 3 (morning all)
bye herin
Hello, pini.
hiya haz ;)
well i have the one ending in clock output and the lively one
Night night
Then think of those women who profess hatred of males.
an7 = against + not lady
ty
oooh, good clue, haz ;)
You're welcome, TO.
peanyy
ahh! a feminazi;)..ty
i am drinking almond milk. not sure if i like it.
found a ro 7
Does it taste strong?
It becomes an 8, ruru.
almond milk?? now that is different
it tastes like toasted almonds. i prefer raw. anyway, we are so used to augmented flavorings, real doesn't even taste like the real thing anymore :(
thanks haz. missed that
has 30% calcium per glass
ro 7 clue pls>
30 % that's nuts
sorry ,my meat is real,my milk is real as is my butter and i make my own ice cream,cause they cannot seem to get it right anymore
No problem.
ro7 - as sought for by lovelorn men and women.
almond milk is a real food, not a milk sub..
ty haz
I believe crossy is the ro8 version of that Haz
ty. no wonder.
hints for the 9s?
And the 8 is the one who provides it.
I'm not here really
re9 - bring back to life in Disney fashion.
ty again haz
em9 - that which proceeds from em4/5.
thanky madam. :)
We'll keep the secret, River. You are not here.
You're welcome, EvaN.
who is not here?
have only one em4/5, hope that is all
Just the one - extend it (strange kind of word that you end up with, but who are we to judge?). If it started with re, it would be what you would give in payment for something.
ty for the em 9 haz
You're welcome, crossy.
ty now need sing e word besides merit on the left
em= a sad thing,it is a device used to spread sulphuric acid in open pit gold mining operations,they are known as rainbird em****** and devestate wildlife and land alike
Looking now, TO.
the sulphric acid helps leech small amounts of gold from the substrate
hmm, dark chocolate with my almond milk would be very healthy breakfast
there is an ea 4 To from that e
en6 - to make something attractive.
en plus Spanish luuuuurve.
think of that,those thing kill off more for gold baubles than the remaining furriers ever could:/
ty
sorry,i shall get off my soapbox now;))
actually, unless you are babling on wind power, we are all filthy polluters.
we are indeed
You mean you're not all cycling furiously on your own bicycle generators?
<--- hampster wheel powered
i thought babble was sheer mind-power?
no i just have a cage full of hamsters :)
i use sled dogs,on a tread mill along with a old alternator from a 66 pontiac..i can compute on 6 fish a day:)
I've got Spangle tied to a powered walker - kills two birds with the one stone.
hmmm wondering how this stuff would be with shredded wheat
why,that would be nitty!!! lol..crossy made a funny!
nutty
Which taste do you want to disguise - the Shredded wheat or the almond milk?
i could eat cereal more often if it proves to be good
lol
LOVE shredded wheat
and if you have to hide the taste of the almond milk,why drink it?
Well, you just have to try it and see, TO.
and vanilla almond milk. vanilla and sugar make everything better
did the dr,say you need 3000 almonds a day in your diet? lol
don't want to hide it. i enjoy it.
hehe,im just playing with ya
If he did, the fact that he runs an almond farm has NOTHING to do with it.
and can't wait ti try it with fruit in a blended drink. peach would surely en6 it
would he then be considered shell-shocked?
i need somethingl i am wasting away it seems
a dr with a almond farm,sounds like we have a tad of conflict of interest here;0
lol to,get your shredded wheat,put moo milk and real brown sugar on it lol
not really here but thanks, haz, for all the great words!
{{crossy}} *poof*\
howdy ruby:))
opps
<--- doesn't drink moo milk
Another one who isn't here. First River, now ruby.
i can get you reindeer milk if you prefer ruru
can you get blitzen on it crossie?
moose milk is a possability also,but your gonna have to bend down there and collect it yerself!
or reach up......
about chest height river,so stoop just enough to come in range of those back hooves
females usually top out at 1000 pounds
have seen many - up close and personal - come close to taking out a couple with my car - thank goodness for good reflexes and brakes
yes,they do have a way of denting a car
you sound like Sarah Palin River...
you do mean taking out the whole hood and windshield dont ya....
and back seat,and trunk
come on out to the northeast ruru - we'll show you some of our friendly wildlife (or not so)
and thats from their knees
mnr has a bear advisory out for our area as we speak;)
i do not worry,if a bear wants my sandwich,i give it to him;)
havent seen any of them since spring - almost hit one driving home from sons baseball game
someone needs to teach these animals to stay off the road
off the road?? lol,the bears are coming right into the back yard and saying howdy;)
my dogs keep them away during the day - they come and steal my bird feeders at night
mose eat bird seed?
we had one on the other die of town few days ago,decided some guys pool would be a perfect place for a dip and bath
nm
I have very unhappy birds - bears eat bird seed
bears will,not sure if moose like seed
read an article that one of the arab nations is marketing camel's milk
moose just make craters across the lawn as they meander through - may eat some plants
i do know moose like suet balls
very healthy. one drawback - the taste.
so do the dear - we have put them out to keep the deer something to eat other than my flowers
*deer
Just get the old almond essence/vanilla essence going, TO.
probably not too bad camel's milk once you get over the hump
lol,when we used to live further up north,we used to plant 2 gardens,one for us with fencing,and another full of lettuce for the deer and rabbits
from the inference, this may ne one thing that can't fix
har har har
I take it they're trying to export it?
yes. i meant to post to fb
am leaving you fine folks - need to clean up my desk before calling it a day - wow what busy day today - lol
No problem, car. Hello!
Good morning/afternoon/evening everyone!
ah, i see the gypsy language is not accepted
other thank dislike.. can some one clue the ab5's//
May i have help with the O please?
I do have the one OM 4...to leave out
ab5/16 - is an anagram of your president's second name.
ab5/18 - ab plus two letters of surprise, finish off with a consonant.
hello...clue for the an8?
The consonant being the first letter of Mr Twain, author.
ab5 = loathe
whoa.. thank you haz
thanks To..
an8 - against plus what a machine does when it prints out - it also means a sort, a variety.
more than 2 ab?
There are three ab5.
TY!
You're welcome.
ty
have hate and barack's anagram
The other one is ab, two letters of surprise/amazement, finish off with a consonant which also appears in Barack's anagram.
ty. it feels like nap ti4.5
Just found a variation of FM's favourite critter, the Madagascan hedgehog - ta6
Have some Enya standing by, TO....
Hello Haz and TO!
yes I chan my icon *grin*
no you chan ged it silly
FM's up to scratch with her typing as usual...
some mighty fine clueing been going on.
zzzzzzzzzzzzz
This grid has teeth.
If I typed every entry perfectly you would get very suspicious.
You're sounding as though you've just come off the Ponderosa, FM. Mighty fine!
Our wit and badinage has done for TO.
*head jerks up* huh? what?
I don't usually put people to sleep quite that quickly.
It must be all that almond milk TO's been drinking, it has untold soporific effects.
TO are you suffering with Friday afternoon'itis?
It can't be us.
i was up early to have car inspected while retiring late
Ahh.
and i am trying to get things done so i can travel but babbling while washing not cleaning while washing
So late to bed, early to rise - no wonder you're not quite firing on all cylinders.
mmmm..tea and english muffies with gooseberry jam..;))
haz i am just getting old. at least two diseases have been ruled out so far.
Good morning and good brekkie ((crossy))
((FM))
Are you having tests?
currant jam is lovely on enlgush muffins
when i kick off,i wish to die of something so rare and exotic,that my picture gets put beside it in some medical paper;0
had two. bllodwork needs to be looked at but i think it is same old anemia
That can be corrected with medication plus TLC, I take it, TO?
not sure. i am a bad patient, i di das told but did not follow up with bllodwork. now need to begin again for 30 days
Bad TO, we can nag you if you like?
but on the birght side, no lupus and no thyroid issues
I know, I like quick fixes for problems, not months of trial and error.
but sometimes you have to be patient and follow through.
Haz, is Spangle all back to her sproingy self now?
Oh, absolutely.
splendid :)
It was quite funny this morning - husband and I were sallying forth. Spangle got so indignant that she was being left behind.
my friend is going to italy and because her young springer bothers the old one at home, she feels she cannot kennek them together. i wonder if the behavior would cease in captivity?
However, she's being walked as we speak, so all is forgiven.
it will cost her an extra $400!
oh that is quite a bit extra TO
I don't know, TO, do they fight? It's an expensive problem!
this dog - she should have given it back, you have no idea
the young one harries the old one who is 13
what a shame.
Oh, not fair on the older one - probably just wants peace and quiet.
Whereabouts in Italy is she going and for how long? Could someone else take the older one for freeand let the young one be kenneled?
new house new carpet - smells bad. understood from someone young one peed on mattress. she got it for her son, who graduated college but he is not coming home. has girlfriend and they stayed in college town.
Hi babblers can anyone clue at7/40 please
Oh dear. The girlfriend is more attractive than a springer puppy.
phone - gotta go :(
this is a woman who cannot face facts, haz. you have no idea
at7/40 - consumed food for three, last four letters are a woman's name (widow of the late Bill Lear - see if you can get it on google)
That's a shame - dogs are great, but you have to be practical as well, don't you?
Thanks Haz
well she may not be practical but she WIll be in italy, I will be in PA
Or at7/40 - consumed food and an anagram of the creamy dressing that is also a county in Ireland.
You're welcome, Norma.
Will she fuss and fret the whole time she's away?
we are a sad lot here,the 2 cats own the house,furniture i purchaced on the basis of cat worthiness,since we do not believe in ripping out their claws
ty. and i also learned bill lear invented the 8 track tape!
Bill Lear was quite the inventor - Motorola car radio, Learjet etc.
who knows? if hse only had one dog she would just have someone come in
When does she leave?
late sept - early oct
and quite reightly crossy! (still on the phone).
He also had a wicked sense of humour. He insisted on calling one of his daughters 'Shanda' but his wife drew the line at 'Gonda'.
br 7=sounds like the old acid indigestion powders
that's cold
LOL I must stop reading the log - client just sked me why I snorted down the phone (Haz's 11.05 post).
"that bro7 won't wrk" said the doctor. "I'm afraid that mushroom you ingested was an am7/32. "
Bye Haz great to see you
i do it the old way with a large canning pot and a pot 2 inches smaller in diameter inside,then fill the void with ice and add salt to the ice..bingo,,instant ice cream maker
bye haz
Bye! (think of what you do when you enter words on your computer)
Clever crossy.I dont do things like that
ty haz
No problem! *gone*
it works,start with a base of 2 litres of homo milk and 1 litre of 10% cream,add liquid glucose or sugar to taste,then add your flavourings and stir,stir,stir!
if i use sugar i liquify it in a double boiler
and a dash of vanillia in the base is always good
You make it sound so easy (no good for my healthy eating though)
it is healthy...no chemicals added
just milk.cream.sugar and fresh fruit
Its high in calories though with the cream and sugar, can I just have the fruit? LOL
lol..sorry make it right or eat rice cakes;0
the worst insects here are earwigs
not getting it Nan
hi boo
lol, kje. We saw some weird creatures when we were in Sanibel Island a few years ago. I swear we saw a locust that was as big as my foot (8" long). Hubby and I stood gawking at it for several minutes - couldn't decide if it was alive or dead. "You poke it!" "No, you poke it!"
hi ruby
The worst insects here are hmm. Don't think we have any. Mice maybe.
8" OMG!
at4+ty4
you need a big stick
Finally it raised a leg (just to taunt us, I think) and we ran away like screaming meemies.
hahah
sounds good ruby,you can even bring grumpy,ill fill him full of booze then we will climb the eifel tower
an4+ty4 sorry
we have really cute furry mice here but not in the house, fortunately
Good response to an 8 inch insect.
grumpy doesn't eat sushi!
ty zz
It was some nuclear spawn, I swear.
hi zzooozz
did it glow in the dark?
There is not a house mouse that qualifies as cute.
I think these are field mice
I was just thinking that this morning, stid - i miss the land of no bugs (baltimore they were very very rare) but I did have mice.... I think I would rather have mice... well, if it was only 1, I could live with 1
ta 6, please?
The cat left us a beheaded bunny in the driveway yesterday. Urrgh.
we're out in the country, so lots of wildlife
what did she do with the head? is it at the taxidermist?
no idea cyber
They don't stay just one.
her trophy bunny
I'm not sure what HE did with it. Suspect he stuck it on a little pike in the woods - with the rest of his gruesome collection.
she dropped it near the lair as a warning to other bunnies
TA6 sun makes you go brown + first part of word for leisure
hello afternoon evening babblers.
hi there red !
Hello Red
Hello, red :-)
another everyday word in our vocab: at7.40, tropical tree of the Phillipines.. hrrmph
another tree, E. Indian.. ba6.30
The ba6/24 looks like an alternate spelling.
sure sounds the same, wht
but my dict. says it is a "Hindu merchant".. lol, this grid is a doozy
I know the tree, thanks ALoy!
have seen them in Fla., red... huge one outside the Ringling Museum in Sarasota
really! I have only seen them in kenya, but...I have not been to Sarasota.
wow, Kenya.. were you working or vacationing there?
Hello...
hi Jellen!
I worked overseas in Sudan, they sent us to there via Kenya, so spent a bit of time there...
It this grid a fun doozy or a mean doozy?
its not so fun jellen.
Today has been one helluva bad hair day. My email account was hacked, and all my contacts received an email saying I was robbed at gunpoint in London, and to please send money. Further, I am locked out of my account. People have been calling me ALL DAY to ask if I'm OK.
BUt Jmc, has been most recently in Kenya....
well, it was a fun doozy till it became quite a mean doozy
Oh, how awful, Kaplan!
so sorry, Kaplan! what a bummer!
that is unpleasant Kap, at least they are calling and not sending cash!
The full import is hitting me. All of my contacts and saved e-mails are in the hands of some grimy hacker in some unknown country. I could have used the cash, though. Mostly this has gone out to friends, family, colleagues, listserves, relatives, clients...no one important really!
rats ! Have you any idea how the hacker got in?
bo5.18: former Russian aristocrat, sigh
NFI. But I have been told I should have changed my password often, and made it compex.
ty, aloy for that bo word
oh, that sucks, kaplan
hi :)
yw dcs, at least I feel a bit better seeing that I'm not hunting down "fish" words.. grid is full of obscurities
Hi, dc
h'mm, I am lax about changing pws too
hello, jellen, nice to see you
I am too, Aloy...
my email pwd is 13 chars long, has cas and lower and several special chars
such a hassle keeping track of them
...has caps and lower...
good early morning [eople
Hi, daykat
*people
hello, daykat
but .. lesser of evils, guess I should work on doing that.. hi daykat
hello Jellen how you doing?
hi Al -dsc (how do you ever remember such complex passwords?)
yeas of working in secure environments with 11 char minimums :)
and i base my pwds on a non-indo-euro language, using complete sentences
I'm fine...was a little out sorts because a friend forgot we were supposed to meet for lunch, but invited myself to sit with some gentlemen I knew and they picked up the tab!
good move Jellen!
that was nice of them :)
I also have wacky complex passwords, and they force us to change them often...
... and next time your friend can make amends by treating you, Jellen (-:
Next week, she promised!
if you work it right, Jellen, you may never have to pay for a meal again!!
Oh I am half way. Very sleepy SO, I will take this moment to get ready for tomorrows activitys be back later for the rest of this yuck grid.
wow, the Gs were easy
was it a nice lunch?
lol, daykat...don't plan on that!
he6.24 is a cossack leader, I knew that, lol
The U's were easier.
Yes, I had a chicken chimichanga...
hah, wht
Hi, wht
sounds delish
bye, red.. see you next time
hi wht
bye, red
Hi Jellen. I'm not really here. I am working. Just popping in and out when I see a good straight line.
hasta, red
i regret starting, as i'm going to take a nap.
also was at a luncheon today.. bbq chopped chicken salad.. delish
maybe it will help you "dream up" some of these grid words, dcs !
I'm going to start, if I start, tonight...have a hair appointment followed by my first session with a new counselor...
did you not like the other counselor, Jellen?
Haven't had one in several years, Aloy...and this one comes highly recommended...
oh no, I missed the ma6.24, an Algonquin Indian deity... gheez
hope you "click", Jellen.. best of luck
I'm going to surprise my hair stylist by being early...see you all again soon...
I hope so too, Aloy...
*poof*
bye for now, Jellen.. tc
aggravates me when words are in "A-Z" but still not acceptable
just up from a nap, hello all
pa6.30: a pagan ... am never going to remember all these newbies
hi peri
Aloy you are in Fla?
no, won't be there until Dec.
whenyou are there where do you live. am thinking of moving to Fla either part of year or entire year.
my good friend is going too and they want to move to the gulf coast somewhere
whre are you now, Aloy?
ok, should have seen my last word, ta6.21 shows up quite often
peri, on the G. Coast, north of Naples.. do you like heat?
I do like heat not too cracy about humidity. what is the year round temp where you are, would be nice to know at least one person
well, I'd have to look that up.. we have been having "unusual" weather the last few years. Example: thirteen freezes last winter ! aack.. but no snow.. we live in a wonderful area.. you can google Punta Gorda
will do, brb
have to go wash the car; bats roosted in our garage, so... but we won't seal the opening until after they leave in October
hey i got the sparkles!!!
cheers, all, happy babbling
cheers, all, happy babbling
Evening all - is this grid tough or wot - i have been at for quite a while and i've only got 75
anyone about
Hello everybody :-)
Kazz - I just came on, and said hello without even looking at the chat. Quiet here tonight!!
i hate this grid - iam getting no where fast
I only just dropped in to get the gossip! I have no intention of even attempting the grid at this time of night.... How are you, Kazz?
had my nose in the grid
Hello Peri :-)
no gossip here
any news from NB?
Not to bad - only tuesday in work (monday is a bank holiday here) and then i am on holiday
My laptop is broken, so I have to queue up here to use the desktop....(Flippin' teenagers...) So I am very very out of touch with whats happening....
Oh, I really hope Nancy's trip is going well... I saw him on here earlier in the week, and it was a case of 'so far so good'. I hope it's continuing like that.
I did not see that post
where is he off to
he went to Korea to see family
I have not seen him in a while.
according to a babbler who saw a post from him, the extended family is angry with his parents cause when someone dies in Korea familly sends money and gifts. so now they are calling his parents thieves
clue for ta 6/21.
nm got it and fireworks
mitten handcuffs, red?
Well, I am sure that was not what he intended, but the parents are a little bit theivy in that case.
I thought they wer Great Peri!
were.
I can't read the small print tho, red
it basically says that these were invented by the Canadian police who were worried that a desperate criminal in the traditional handcuffs would grab a gun...
congratulations to Matches!
oh, ok, red. was wondering why they have a woman in the picture
its amazing what a bit of lickety does - i have got both the 9s
yes, me too, and one looking so pleased to be in the mittens!
took a nap but still feeling tired
LOL
I have one 9 and no lickety but...I think lickety and I have a rendezvous soon.
I am also very tired Peri. I think its the cumulative effect of nights since June.
good excuse not to do housework :)
Last I heard from NB was the younger members of the family in Korea were delighted to see him alive and well. However, that was very early in the trip, and Nancy was still very apprehensive about meeting the 'elders' and coming out to them. Oh, I really hope its going well for him!
I do too, Soodle
ooh go on i gave up and decide it was far too difficult to try without tonight
I vacuumed today! very proud, looks for gold star...
*hands a gold star to red*
I ma just at half way and I think lickety is fine. I just get so overwhelemd when alot of the lickety boxes are empty.
68 left, bbs
thanks Peri!
10 more left..
nice cosmo. go go go!
my, the pa6 is weird.
Every day is a trying day, Seain! But, I am still here.., which beats the hell out of the alternative!! :-) Trying to come to grips with the fact that in a little over a week I will be be hitting the bit Five Oh, ( and I am not talking Hawaii here...)
it means a heathen; a person who is not a Christian (especially a Muslim)
i am bck for a while. my laptop is being rubbish tonight and keeps losing the signal
you'll pull through with flying colours, soodle :)
why do those crazy numbers gang up on us sometimes?!?
you're welcome, cosmo. very odd word to me
i like item 5 on your profile soodle
need the at 7/40
Oh, Kazz, I used to be a Farmville MANIAC! Until I found myself driving through the Irish countryside, and commenting to myself that those fields need harvesting. Then I realised that I was becoming obsessed, so I stopped farmville-ing. I am afraid the same might happen if I start Fishville...
two variants on ma5 (other is ma6) sonne les ma***es
Hi everyone...Hey SOODLE!! Haven
et6 & 7 pls
Yay Jilly!!! Good to see you :-)
at8: one who at6 goals. looking for at7...
Love your pup soodle...I had a rottie/lab cross; love those dogs!!
hi, jilly
Good Enough...How right you are! 50 is only a number..... I will go to sleep tonight repeating that mantra to myself...
Hiya DC how are things there?
alright, jily, you?
Have you beat by two soodle!!
Oh, thank you Jilly. but that is a pic of the late King. He was put down in July..... we are all still totally devastated..... And thank you, Jilly for reminding me there is life after the dreaded 50... I feel AWFULLY old!
Well, unfortunately we had a terrible wind/lightening storm last night...and a big fire now near town. Spent today watching the fire planes and helicopter. Life in Montana... have several friends evactuated.
Hey Soodle, ironically enough, my friend just sent me this link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XaruNs_ 7okY
oh, my, jilly
Ya soodle, I lost mine in February and I still miss her so much. She was the greatest person to come home to! No one now to hike with or go on car rides with. :'(
Oh Jilly that is scary
Yes, but they really jump on these now, really something to watch the retardant drops and water drops. Kinda the price one pays to live in the mountains. There's also one east of my mom about 22 miles north.
at 8 anyone?
Hi Red and ty dc
thanks dc, 2 words!
though i've goten to the point i only compete w/myself
trying to decide what to get for food betwen here and my destination 45-60 min away.
sushi
hi babblers - can someone help with a clue for the an 7/8?
or pho.
Just finished a late lunch...had sushi....
no, not easily portable. i get take-out and eat at destination :)
and veggie pho VERY hard to find
Hmmm.
i'm leaning toward persian at the moment.
COme on to Orlando, they do make it in one part of town.
I had turkey burg.
Persian is more portable?
and i have an earworm of Small Town Southern Man for some reason, which has me thinking of my father.
an7/8: Bugs Bunny is an*****d
yes, persian is MUCH more portable for distance i'm travelling
Veggie Pho, I eat it all the time in the Bay Area
oh sorry, that was an7/32
here, several places offered it, but it just don't sell well here, so they drop it before long.
thanks for that an7
I always go to a place called
oh no hiccups.
thanks for trying redletter, still need the an 7/8
I'm looking in More Words and just not seeing it
I go to a place called Fresh Choice. They hardly serve any meat or fish, and they have it there
Good Enough...I just followed your like... all the Wrinkeld ladies... Ouch... so painful, but oh so true... But, you see it doesn't apply to me. I have got my (82 year old) dad to admit he was drunk the day he registered my birth, so he mucked up the year bit. So, I am actually 10 years younger than my birth cert says I am. Easy mistake....
they shut down here years ago; i mis sthem
i don't see how the bugs bunny one makes an 8
an 7/32 is to be against the male sex
Nice try there soodle....rofl!!
agreed with dc, not getting it.
there cant be an 7/8 ... there is 3x an7/32, and 1 an7/40
Goodness, just tuned in and see Soodle all riled up! What on earth are you talking about? Can I shave 10 years too? ;)
I met a funeral director from Florida once. He told me he called older drivers "Q-Tips", since all you could see was the white hair over the steering wheel! He was nice, if un-PC.
hey all...at 7/40 clue please?
LOL, Soodle! I had to scroll back and see what the problem was! I really enjoyed beingf in my 40's and 50's; I felt confident and had the energy and strength to follow through with whatever I chose to do. I find I'm more tired now that I'm in my mid- 60's though and can't always keep up with myself.
LMAO Champ! Q tips!!!! Maybe theres a couple of years in old Soodle yet!!! (No white hair....L'Oreal, cos I'm worth ut!!
still need the at 7/40
sorry I had to step away - has anyone clued the an 8?
Chicky, I used to call my grey highlights, till I found that people actually believed it! Like you;d actually put WHITE in your hair! So now I just don't say anything at all. It is what it is!
at7.40 at* consumed & cons & there is a flower here h*** (h4.7)
JBV, as far as I can tell, there is no an8
Yep, started with the white at 26, colored up to around 5 years ago, now just my true color....
Old Irish saying... (used by grey-haired old men usually) There may be snow on the thatch, but theres still fire in the grate......
but I have all the other a's in Lickety's List and I still have the second row A showing 11/12
lickety has an8/55
My mother in law was that way. Mine's coming in really even, so am very lucky. And I have ONE white eyelash...how odd is that?
hi Red
DH is slowly improving each day, lynxxx. His eyesight seems to change on a daily basis, though. He needs new glasses (my idea of cheap readers didn't work); but with his eyes changing so much, the Opthomologist won't give him a new Rx yetThanks for asking.
glad to hear he is improving nef...
SO nice to hear indeed, there was so much happening for a while
this is so much easier with the list
ok red, will get there later tonight
Sorry, DH interrupted me. There is still a lot going on with him but at least most of what's happening is more positive now
must depart for a while. bbl
bye Dawg
could I have the stats for that bottom row "A" please?
ap4.5 & ac4.5 I think
not ap4.5 but ap5.12
an 8= against keyboarding, maybe?
against & they used to set **** for newspaper printing
probably means to go against the norm I guess
the ap 5, 12 is the sleep disorder.
ty got it
th ap5 I suggested is related to bees
thanks red. You'd think I'd see that word quickly but I seem to miss it every time it's in the grid. Same with the ac4/5. Must be a blind spot or something
well it is some kind of spot anyway
this grid is taking very long
darned needcase
anyone have teh at 7/40?
thanks lynxxx. That's another word that's invisible to me!
I do, rur. Trying to figure out how to clue
at7.40 at* consumed & cons & the flower here today h***
not out. the doctor is **.
This grid has eaten heaps of my woirds....grrrrr
get it?
like the first ha4/6. add 'not out'
not sure M9.. but it had squid ink.. which didn't appeal to me
I thought the squid ink was bad for you.
it is?
there was a French restaurant here in Nashville many moons ago that served squid ink pasta . . .
I was down to 21 words and now I am back to 36?
I told you this grid eats words! seriously
maybe i just noticed that they remove the ink and thought it was a health thing when it was actually an aesthetic.
Think of all those Tennessee squids that can't write notes anymore
oh blech ruru!
can't get into black food
invisible squid notes!!
TO, Michel served it with "white" pasta so it was kinda cool -- black and white
tennessee squid?? "the tennessee squid was llooongg and lean, color of the sun and his eyes were greeeeeeen".. no.. just doesn't work
does it have a taste?
ruru, Michel originally came here to open a French bakery -- my ex used to tell people . . . "ah, yes, you know Michel came over with the ovens" LOL
no special taste, TO
just a novelty
a little fishy to me
did it turn your tongue black?
ok, enough with the black pasta!!!!
(or green?)
nooooooo
but inquiring minds want to know!
LOL!
then people would think you are a chow dog
was thinking the same thing ruru LOL
enough food i have big tome indigestion
you could scare rubyfoo's husband with her.
tome?
that's one way of avoiding the pb!LOL
the few chows I've met were really sweet
how could I forget "Rufus was a ti6.21"
LOL lynxxx!!!!!
and getting a headache
chows are a one person dog .. ty4 dog
et 5?
that's what I've always heard but hasn't always been my experience
Lord - my last word was the madagascan hedgehog - FM will never forgive me
et + anagram of sweet potato word
lol and she actually changed her icon from that! :/
I was wondering ho to clue that one, Uneaixoise!
thank you for the et
yw ruru
lynxxx, isn't that the tenrec?
nothing like the list to show you how dumb and unobservant I am
think i must venture out for tummy meds
Yes Une, alt spelling, ta6
are you sick TO?
indigestion
oh, didn't realize, thanks :-)
it must be the balck pasta
sigh. I"m the only Galaxy Quest fan apparently
i liked galaxy quest quite a bit! v. funny
did i miss a reference?
yape
what's Galaxy Quest?
my quotes at 6:19
oops
Love Galaxy Quest! saw it in IMAX
ar7 pls?
a movie
hmmm been a while since i've seen the movie
nm
ar* you happy? well then good **** and sleep well!
You can watch the DVD dubbed in the aliens' language
Galaxy Quest is one of my fave movies. We quote it at my house. It's as quotable as Princess Bride imo
too funny!
we often say "does the rolling help?"
or "hurry! before they kill Guy!"
I often qoute Sigourney Weaver's line: I have one job on this ship!
"whoever wrote this episode should DIE!"
yup.. "and I'm going to do it!"
"I see you managed to get your shirt off"
"it's the simple things you treasure'
"the show must go on!"........."damn you!"
my husbands fave .. "oooohhhhh... that's not riiiight!"
that is classic, especially to what it is said about
he7?
i think it has to do with blood ruru
sound interesting. I don't care for movies, but DH likes them (it's one area we aren't compatible in; but not a problem these days. He watches movies on TV while I work!)
and ends with that "not out"!!LOL
and then the next ends with fork prong
it's better if you're a trekkie... cause it's a trekkie spoof
although it's a good movie on it's own.
thank you
more of a satire than spoof
yw
yes. true Miz... I knew that wasn't quite right when I wrote it..
even if you are not a trekkie...it makes fun of them, but in a good hearted way
but it is really funny!
oh! and ... classic... "at least he's outside"
any scary or suspenseful parts?
yes.
the bad guy is done fairly well!
but horror scary...funny suspense
sorry, NOT horror scary
hating these h's right now
I have them all ruru... so if you need any 'elp
oops... sorry ... i 'ave them all.
I need the he 6/24 .. it is eluding me
he7/8pls?
I'm missing a H4 and have no clue
there's two that have the vowel flight letters in the middle
he7/36 & 8/50 blood & fork ****
grits
he6/24 = brit he5/14 bread
I'm such a wimp; I have nightmares from scary movies or those with suspense in them. That's why I don't like movies. I even had bad dreams after Bambi and the Lion King. :-(
sorry for the 7 delete last letter
hey.. it's my ho** from the good!
hood!
aww... that's sweet Nef.
sissy
thanks m9 -- I have those, plus "not love" and biblical form of have
lol
did you get that he6?
ty
no
don't get all he* up... male person1
Not really m9. And yes, ruru, I admit I'm a sissy! :-) (butr when it came to RL events; they never bothered me)
thank you
ha6/24 = brit spelling of he5/14 med/chemical word
ho 6/30 is a Southern food
bye everyone
bye TO
I have 2 left
bye TO. Take care
112 left here, m9
Go Nef!!!!
:-P
fw
YAY, m9!!!! WTG!!!!
ty.. ty very much
Good evening Babbleland. How are folks tonight?
I'm just jealous. I'm hoping I can finish tonight; but DH is seeking some attention too tonight. :-)
hi wht.
Well the evening is off to a better start, I just monkeyed the ab5,16
ab + unit of electrical resistance
thanks, wht. There are some very weird words in this grid!
I've noticed.
I was off to a good start and got the u's right off. Everything else has been a grind.
LOL! :-D
I'm down to 100 words left to find, but it's like pulling teeth right now. I ha** to open a list before I'm half way through the grid; but this one is tempting me....
he blood and fork?
are you asking or cluing, bichon?
I have 38 left and I can say that the list has not been as much help as you would think.
blood and fork??
definitely asking Nef
he 8/50 = blood and fork part
ooohhh LOL
29 left, this is a tough grid
he +oppos. of Pa + tine sharp part of a fork
119 to go--very tough grid.
ty Nef, got it
Scrabs do you mind a quick question?
oops! how's that for a clue? (wondering how THAT happened?)
can I get a clue for the an7,40?
Go ahead, Bichon.
against a grown boy, wht
an4 (prefix for against) + ty4 (keyboarding)
Oops, I clued an8
tx nef!!
Have that one. I need the last an7,40
amin
I have the an8 as well
Free word!
At a 1 y.o. well child checkup, where the child exhibits healthy social interactions, would not clapping hands or waving bye-bye be a cause for concern?
Have that one too, scrabs :^)
I have the an 7/32 (X 2) and the an 7/55. Sorry don't have that 7/40 yet (but will start looking)
en6 pls
I would just watch for progression of development. So, toddler responds to name, shows a toy to parent, hears well, jabbers, says 3-4 words?
en + love
I am retired and I can do this puzzle an7/40!
hi all
hey, hootowl!
hey Une - you been getting all my rain?
thanks Hootowl!
And how about other fine motor skills? Finger feeding? Grabs toys and transfers between hands? Has fine pincer grasp?
Hi Hootowl
THAT was a clue you know???
no rain for several days, hoot
ty Une
yw
poor hoot-straight to the pb
ty hoot
poor hoot-straight to the pb
yw peri
ok - seems like we got flooded and now drought
He does some of those things [I'm not concerned about lack of words], but doesn't play interactive games. Does respond to people [gestures to be picked up]
typical TN summer, eh?
hi again
as long as there is something besides choc!
Bichon--here is what we use in office for social + communication skill screening.http://www.dbpeds.org/articl es/detail.cfm?TextID=466
Onlt been here 5 years. Crazy is what I call it!
bichon.... do the parents play those kind of games with him regularly.. or try to??
only - here we go again
Scrabs, he does all those things well. Plays independently [with purpose]. Smiles at people a lot. Feeds himself very well, drinks from sippy cup
a's abolished
(poking my nose in.. you can ignore me!LOL)
(((everyone))) I am glad to be here!
Yes, parents and I do
Hi Stid
do you feel like he is playing back with you?
TYVM Scrabs
Hi stid and m9
I am not worried, Bichon.
how's the grid?
stid!!
It sucks, Stid.
Good, then neither am I
hi stiddy
a pain stid
not a nice grid
It sucks neurons right out of my cranium.
m9, no he smiles at attempts to play games
but I am plodding along, 23 left
yuck!!!
kids have spurts in different areas at different times...
the first season of Bob Newhart is on hulu.
That's what I say. The pediatrician wants to keep an eye on him, but neither I nor his parents, or his day care providers think there's a problem
scrabs, just for interest.... how many of those are "yes" before cause for concern?
everyone was freaking out saying my eldest boy needed speech when he was little.. but I knew he didn't. He speaks quite well now!LOL
oh well, can't be much more sucky than my day. I spent the whole time I had to be with people being as quiet and solo as possible to avoid saying anything out of turn or too much... and got scolded for that!!! I just can't figure these people out.
My daughter didn't speak until she was 2 1/2 and although she has an auditory memory problem, she speaks well
I have seen "typical" kids (the word normal is incorrectly used) say words at 10 mo and use phrases at 12 mo. Others do not combine words til 24 mo. Some kids walk at 7 mo, some at 18 mo.
oh stid! I'm sorry... that kind of situation sucks
ALL kids are different. Woulf didn't talk sentences til he was 3-4. Realized we were asking for Y/N answers instead of just talking to him
Oh, the test, Stid?
exactly scrabbler.. my philosophy was always "I'm sure he'll be walking/talking/using toilet..etc... by the time he's 18"
yes, that was what I was referencing... but the other info is intriguing too... one child spoke full words by around 9 or ten months and had a working vocab of over 30 words by one year.... the other didn't say more than a few basic words until almost two... one walked on his 9 month bday the other at one year. neurotypical development has a range, to be sure.
stid that sounds like me and my family - dammed if I do and dammed if I don't. Big reason I left NY! I do not speak to any of them now.
Gage has a really large vocabulary.... it's just that folks who don't know him can't understand him..
I looked at that web site Scrabs and I think he comes out okay for his age
My mother, when I was worried about things would say: he'll learn it by the time he goes to college...
((((hoot)))) these are my college faculty :-(
I like your mom stid!!LOL
you know...cause great minds....
ma 6/24?
I recently looked at my son's baby book [he is the father of the boy I am writing about] and was amazed at the things he did as a baby
don't forget stid.... at Evergreen seminar is a verb
Whenwe started talking instead of asking we opened a floodgate that didn't close for 15 yrs. AND compete sentences.
And here I've spent the past 28 years trying to shut my daughter up! (She was always very "verbal" from the minute her head popped out though)
bo7 anyone?
pronunciation was a real problem in part I think because of the hemiparesis... but the actual words (many multi-syllabic) he used by age one were varied and reflected a huge range of experiences.
LOL Nef!!!
ma 6/24... kind of like a mermaid but diff ending
bo7 add adult boy to word above
hello kids!
gee hoot --
hey George!!!
hi George!! how's the trip going... besides hot?
well we finally figured out he could remember anything and everything he heard!
Duh. Thanks peri
oh oh... *makes mental note to be careful when woulf is around*
hemiparesis? stid
gage just told me that we misappeared undergound but not in a tunnel...
is that where the bottom of tongue is tight?
My mother says that I didn't talk til age 3.
hemi=partial; paresis=paralysis one-sided cerebral palsy, peri
not that pretty, ha!
3rd mi5/12 pls
thanks for the 7
I have had enough of this grid so I shall go read + see you folks tomorrow.
ma 6/24 starts with big boy
nd sounds like what they used to think were mermaids
what island?
if bo7/40 works there should be an ha6 word that might mean a milliner!?
gilligan's island mayhap?
no but there's one VERY close to that George!
but don't get h** up about it!LOL
well. NBT and down to 133. certainly not as easy as yesterday.
oh! george, look for an HE 6
thanks m...
yw stid.. good job following the chog!
I keep having to pop off on little gamelets with Gage.
does the ma 6/24 have to do with a sea cow?
I think I will head out, my eyes, head and heart are tired tonight. Back tomorrow at some point.
(((hugs and choclits for all))) *Poof*
take care, stiddy
Night stid
LOL... "fried, simmered" looked so much like my dad's name! I had to do a double take!!!
bloody hell, your dad's name is 'Fried Simmered'??
he was a chef, wasn't he? ha!
oh yeah? ha, ha!!
what kind of work do you do?
I am an Examiner in the home office of an insurance company in the claims department.
Do you enjoy it or is it just a job?
most of the time I do like it - this week it has been crazy
yeah, it's hard switching gears. good to get back to a routine but there is so much in that routine it gets overwhelming!
hiya gang! is this a quick one? wondering if i should start or not...
ITs actually a very good company - just been a tough summer for me with my son and catching up from taking time off for his surgeries and now .... you get it
go ahead and start but definately not a quick one feather
don't go by me. i am making no progress whatsoever. not halfway, not even nbt.
hmm.... lol, maybe i'll just chat a little....
I have 28 left - same ones from hours ago - lol
well, do what we always do. hang on tight until the tough times pass.
this grid has teeth weed
hi ruru. teeth. not good.
fangs......actually
This grid has been leading me to an uninspiring amount of words.
it's too late at night for me to start one that's only going to annoy me!
hello stridg - you have been lurking havent you????
what does it hurt to get a few words....
shhhhh river! bad influence, lol
Hello...
Well, I've left to make potato salad, then put meat under the broiler. And now waiting for the rest of dinner to heat.
Hello Jellen
Hello jellen.
hi joiners!
Hi jellen.
hi jellen! ((((squishy hugs))))))
ba 6/24 ? anyone?
hi again people.
(((hugs back)))
It looks like an alternate spelling of the ba6,30
Hi, Nef
Hi nef
thank you wht
I've decided not to do the grid...I encounter enough teeth giving my cat his heart pill every night...
Wow! Chat's moving fast!
Hi Jellen! (((Jellen))) How's it going?
Good decision Jellen, this grid is not friendly.
26 left and I am calling it quits
calling uncle river?
make that 25
I'm going to go do my scrabble turns and then see what trouble i can get into on yahoo games. will pop in and out.
I have over half of the words. When I hit 100 I will have my limit.
Ok will look a bit longer but may need sustenance
I'm doing pretty well, Nef...had a counseling session today and then conquered my aversion to shopping to hit Walmart!
WHOA, Jellen! Walmart is a tough place to go if you hate shopping!
shop victoriously, Jellen
I'm glad you're doing the counseling. I'm a firm believer in it myself.
oh vey. diabetes boy is on the rampage.
I had my list and checked it twice...only had to go back into the store to buy one thing...the top thing on the list!
That sounds bad, GE. your kid or your hubby?
whoohooo - 23 - lol
wtg river
LOL, Jellen! I felt like I belonged in one of those bad Walmart pictures today. I took my dog to the groomer and saw I was wearing my bedroom slippers when I got home -after also going to a handicapped shop for my DH's repaired walker!
Jellen, I've done that, but usually I don't notice what I've missed until I get home.
GO, go, River!!! You can do this!
my son. DH was getting ready to take him driving but he has to test first. we should have been able to tell by his attitude he was low! no driving right now.
River, do you need any clues?
I have gone to work with two different shoes on - so beat that......
21
oh nef, how funny!
Thank goodness that you caught it before he got behind the wheel, GE
yes, but now he is annoying me :)
crabby crabby until that sugar kicks in
And this is different how???
They are very comfortable slippers, but the Maxine face and fussy cuff should have been more noticeable to me.... :-/
evening all
lol wht!
Hi, Magyk
GE - is your son doing drivers ed
lol, Nef
done with driver's ed but still driving on a permit
HI
thats wht - trying to work them out on my own - will ask for clues when I am desperate
Oh, also got my hair colored and got bangs today...
By the sounds of it he has mastered driving GE crazy already
Hi, herin
Snuggles
hi herin
the kids need 50 hours behind the wheel before they can get their driver;s license in IL
I'm feeling it..... got one of those myself....
18
Whoo hoo world Jellen is steppin out.
yeah they've been driving me crazy for years wht. come with the territory
Hiello bak
we have 40 hours here of parent driving with 10 being at night 1/2 hours after sunset
50 hours that is stupid. We have 120hours here
hello everyone! does anyone have a clue for yi,5 please?
oh fun jellen. are you b-u-tiful??
120 WOW
Jellen, what color did you dye your hair? I bet you look good with bangs (or is it hard to tell yet?). Do you like it?
Not necessarily, but I like it :-)
sorry -still on h's - dont have that y yet
Hi, texan
Hi Jellen
Good not really it is still stupid. I think that if you pay for a licence you should pay more and get defensive driving skills too.
good jell :)
oh need to back up - did Jellen get a new "do"
thanks river
Yes, I got a new "do"...
Pics Jellen at all
yi5 - sounds like a kind of pie
Or like what you do if you get hurt
what did I do texan and hello
herin, I really think that 40 or 50 hours isn't enough time either. We've had a couple of tragic accidents that could have been prevented if kids were more aware of the dangers of driving distractedly
I'll try to take a pic tomorrow...it's too dark in my room to take pics now...
Hi Jellen! Hello Everyone!
sarah need computer - will be back
Hi everyone! Love that pie clue wht! Worked for me!
Nef in VIctoria our road toll is higher than last year. People just are not giving a crap about everyone else
Hi, car
later river!
I'd love to see your new "do", Jellen
Hi, Digby
later, River
Hi Jellen
Not getting the pie clue....working....
yw Digby
hi everyone
Our MVA deaths are down here; but I think that there were 10 teens killed over their prom weekend throughout MN this year
TY Minski!
i was goona say that but you can't use me**
Hi, Minski
jsut getting started and in the pb already.....it's going to be one of those nights
brb...need to make a phone call...
So it looks like Minski gets to eat her pie in the PB
take care Jellen
at least there is chocolate and red wine in the pb
May I have some help with the O? I have the one to leave out...
hi Min, car.ee, ansd Digby
hi Nef!
i'm trying to lose weight. i must avoid the pb.
Nef that is sad. My friends brother died a couple of years ago. She had the grizzly task of identifying him then going through the car to get his stuff out.
Hi Nef!
There is what you swear and an ob4
Digby I have never have seen a near shaved Westie before
TY WHT! Strange OB 4...would not have gotten that one!
Lol Herin, we have to keep him shaved like that because he loves to roll and wallow in the dirt and muck!
(putting fresh fruit and water in PB for Good...)
oh thanks eeyore
Awww Still cute. Doesn't he need his woolies for winter?
that's no fun. I want some good fudge and good tequila in the pb
We live in FL now, so no, he likes it short.
Thanks, wht. I finally got that ob4
yw nef.
*calculating the ww points of tequila*
Minski, you can be in the *fun* pb, and GE will have to be in the not-so-fun PB
And here's some fudge and tequila for Minski.
Too many! Stay strong & stick with the water...add a lemon or watermelon wedge to perk it up!
The more tequila you drink, the lower the total will be when you do the calculation GE
wait my nieces call me the life of the party!!
FYI...A splash of cranberry juice with sprite zero in a martini glass looks just like a cosmo!!!!
looks good and tastes good but will it have the desired effect? i think not...
Digby does puppy have a jacket for colder days?
unless the desired effect is to be thin and then it will!
A slimmer waistline and no hangover work for me!
You could also have virgin Bloody Marys.
But then again....it is Friday night! Go wild and enjoy!!!!
ti6 anyone?
lol
someone said tequila...
gnite minski
i'm back... the first night we felt lost in the kitchen, it is sooooo big
63 left for me
Dorens, how did you hear of this place?
vrbo.com, which is the website we've used to rent places in martha's vineyard and the florida keys... .it's a good deal for owners and renters alike, no real estate folks getting their cut
hey une... we were talking about you at lunch today
uh oh
ruru and me! only nice stuff
:-D
so who was staying with you in your "estate"??
was it a family reunion?
I think your icon is hilarious, Unea
it totally cracked me up, nef :-)
and there was no followup
so have no idea if alien dog beamed up the rescue family . . .
all my kids... and my daughter in law's sister (with husband and five year old twins). we had visitors (one now, old friend of jeremy''s still here with her 15 month old).. my old buddy from high school who lives in napa was here for dinner one night... david's sister in law (with husband and two kids) a different night... lots of activity
oh, my! I'm sure that dog won't find a ho** soon then!
oh yes, awesome picture une!
wow, sounds like a terrific experience!
may i have clues for the last two an 7's please?
looking forward to pix (video?)
every summer we go to martha's vineyard... this was an aberration. and yes, nef, we are completely blessed!
Dang! Second ti** I'm jealous today!
it sounds like fun!
Hello all! How was the lungh with ruru? Any pix?
*lunch
hi jilli!
nef, good friend emailed me yesterday as she was sipping wine with friends on a rooftop in Istanbul in the moonlight
Hi, jilli
hey jilli :-)
I have alink to pix of our PNW gathering in my bio
no pix... i really should have done that!! and i had my daughter to play photographer too. it was delightful though jilli. and nef, i am sorry to be the cause of jealousy
Hi all. I'm back to see if I can whittle down the 108 I have left.
tsk tsk dorens, I gave orders for pix!
hey, hpb
jilli, enjoyed looking at your pix yesterday -- looks like great fun :-)
Hi, hpb
I have 33 left. Guess I'd better concentrate...
no problem, Dorens. With DH being ill this summer, I didn't get to go to a family wedding in MT or meet up with Harpjane and lbd while I was there. So I'm just having a jealous day! ;-)
and I still can't get the at7. I've seen several clues but I'm feeling thick-headed on this one. help?
it's my last A.
sorry, hpb; I don't have it yet. (Too busy chatting, I guess)
at7 -- past tense of eat + eeny meeni miney ** + a **cht is a sailboat
at7: consumed food + Spanish tennis champ Carlos ****
***AAAAA*** angelic choirs singing that I finally got it! Thanks Jilli and Une!
the part after the food rhymes with a kind of bean or milk favored by vegetarians
yay, hpb!!
on to the Bs...
the b's are very sucky . . .
sorry, got called away again... nef i'm sorry you're having such tough time there
so I'm noticing.
Dorens, DH is on his way back! Each day is getting better (I'll update my profile if I finish the grid)
oh i'm so happy to hear that
jilli, I saw your pics just now! What fun you guys had! :-)
am just trying to finish this grid before the kids reclaim me.... will see them later jilli. i apologize... didn't ask ruru cause he just seems like a kind of private person and i didn't want to put him on the spot. but he is a lovely man with a full head of hair!
hey, I got the em9 all by myself!
not really a hard word, but still feels like an accomplishment in this bear of a grid.
Good for you, hpb!! WTG
Dorens, you've used VRBO before?
yes jellen.. multiple times and we've had great success
I will have to tell my brother about it...they travel a lot...
all over the world.. and all sorts of places
Think I'm going to curl up and read a bit...back later...
Niters J
nite jellen... i am looking for 4 more words
Good night, Jellen. Take care.
tt
hi Ormal
atim
OOPS1 Sorry
hi Nef...didn't realize I'd shifted to here. :D
ok, that's it, fireworks. What a stinker of a grid!
Really needed Lickety and morewords.
wtg jill - I'm about to call it quits with 45 left
And what clues I saw -- for which , thanks!
Now for the next icon -- Sax players -- I hope you can take a few minutes to enjoy mine...
Jill?
sorry I missed you jilli. I was off cleaning up the kitchen for the night. I LOVED your pictures of the PNW get together!
(((Jill))) hey all, have half an hour to flip to get to halfway...
down to 127 earlier... *sigh* tough grid.
ta for that clue earlier, stid, never gonna finish though!
you can do it, stid! Hope you're feeling a bit better
woke up, couldn't sleep, at least this should be enough to put me there for a bit, lol!
I am still not happy about the actual master's program... but I am optimistic about the actual student teaching.
Hi George -- still in Israel?
and thanks Nef. how are you and dh doing these days?
of course, Jill
left offlines
DH is doing better each day; bit by bit. That makes me happy too
hi stiddie -- super jacket!
thanks jill. it was admired today!
so glad to hear, Nef
I love the jacket too, stid! How did you make it?
stid has a wonderful mother, nef...
Nef, I wish you could have been here last weekend. Jill is SO COOL! and so are bugs and jmc and... *wistful mama look* I wish we could have a grand babble meet someday and everyone get together.
and pini is a marvel, making that clever cake and the special grid for us all...
the jacket is a simplicity pattern for a doctor's jacket... 35** (can't remember exactly) and the fabric is from an old fabric store in Tacoma
oh that cake was SO delish!
who actually made the cake, stid?
pini designed the icing
Mother baked the cake, jill.
thought so -- spelt four?
I love the pics you guys have from your meet up. and none of the pics are the same!
*flour -- oh, where are the others? In your blog, stid?
stid, your jacket looks like it was knit or crocheted on the picture. And scrub jackets *do* have marvelous pockets too!
simplicity 3542 http://www.simplicity.com/p-1913-mis splus-size-scrubs.aspx
yes! the pockets MAKE this jacket. the fabric is easily double-sided, and so deep that I can carry nearly everything I might need for teaching.
no, gluten-free flour. it was very nice.
not finding words very fast... down to 124 now.
I'm stuck at 46. :-(
go Nef go!
I wish I could help...
Hello everyone, back for the flip!
hey jilly
hi Jilly
*drumming fingers* so how is everyone...
I'm giving up on this grid I think. There aren't ANY more words on this grid!
doing okay jilly . . . don't want to spend any time at all on school things, but will need to focus on it considerably most days from now until the end of November.
how about yourself?
see your guestbook, jill?
I agree with you Nef, I quit with 48 left....tough grid and I stop when it's no longer fun!
stid; you can do it! Believe me; that time will go so fast...
great pix, stid -- just found the links in your bio :)
ok george...
Jill, sorry, should have a cap on that
Doing just fine Stid, had fun this afternoon which is also why I didn't get back to grid...
same reply to you, Jill -- hadn't seen most of those yet!
