gnite thx for help
lol jili
bye josh should I yay you?
night josh -- finished??? I haven't been paying attention here.
he said something about going to the list jilli
so maybe?
prolly ;)
yes.. he finished.
where does 'hoser' come from?
ty m9
well then Yay Josh !!
from the losers having to water down the ice
I don't really now -- a Canadian Tv show with the Mackenzie brothers which I think got to SNL
really? don't they have Zamboni's
they were pretty funny jilli
not where the Mackenzie brothers came from, I guess
not everyone has a zamboni!
here's what wikip. says" Hoser is both a slang term and a stereotype, originating from and used primarily in Canada. It is not often used by Canadians, but it is sometimes used as "typical" Canadian slang by those imitating Canadians, similar to the expression "eh?" The term "hoser" also comes from the comedic skit by Rick Moranis and Dave Thomas is "The Great White North" also known as Bob and Doug Mckenzie. [1]
we should take up a collection then
thanks dee !
random house def: noun Canadian Slang . a person who is considered unintelligent or uncouth, esp. a beer-drinking man.
yes, dee, thanks!
yonder stands a beer drinking man
yqw... no true "origin info" in dictionaries though
yonder is a hoser lol
a real canadian neologism
words are so much fun
dee.. that wicki went on to tell two possible origins..
I've never met a Canadian I didn't like
Like the very similar term hosehead, the term may have referred to farmers of the Canadian prairies, who would siphon gas from farming vehicles with a hose during the Great Depression of the 1930s.
especially Canadian Babblers
oops didn't read far enough m9 ty
lucky you, west, lol!
Another proposed etymology originated from the sport of ice hockey. The losing team would supposedly have to water down the ice using hoses, hence the name "hoser".
very interesting
I think the gas siphoning makes more sense...
I think so jilli
or a combo of both!
could be
I was a product of a gas shortage
there seems to be a "duh" element to hosers -- the hoseheads sound too clever.
ah.. "we ran out of gas!" ??
my parents met during gas rationing mom was in dad's carpool
ah that's sweet west!
shows how young you are, west!
hah !! lol
mine met while my mom was painting ships.
mine met on a Peking Picnic
my mother was a welder in a shipyard during WWII
what's a peking picnic?
that sounds most romantic jilli
"foreigners" in Peking (now Beijing) in the 20s used to organise picnics in the countryside
i see that it's the name of a book..
There was even a book written called "Peking Picnic"
did he come striding through a field and kiss her like in A Room With A View????
Ah, I see you knew, m9!
(no... I googled it)
(haven't you figured out my ways yet??LOL)
jili did you say once that you were born in Peking?
(and yes.. I know that A Room With A View is not set in Peking!)
I have a photo of a group of them beside a railway car -- my dad eyeing my mother before they actually knew each other.
Yes, dee, I was born there (see my bio)
you can put that in your book jilli
They had quite a love story -- he was engaged to someone else in England
that is SO cool jilli!!
oh do tell
aww... your bio answered my second question ... how long you were in China... very interesting ty for sharing
what were they doing there?
She was coming to China to marry my dad, so he said to my mother " I could not love thee, dear, so much, loved I not honour more." So she left for Japan to leave them alone. Then his fiancee arrived and broke the news to him that she had met someone else on the ship, and broke the engagement.
that's just like a movie
how noble of both of them
My dad was there working for the Chinese Postal Bank. My mother was teaching Englsih by phonetics according to her father's immersion methods to Chinese medical students at the rockefeller Foundation;s Peking Union Medical College.
that made HeWho happy. He didn't like the idea of your dad breaking his promise....
so phew!
It's a long story on both sides. Those generations of Brits were very adventurous.
fireworks
YAY dee!!!
Yay dee !!
he said "if they cheat for you...they'll cheat on you." LOL
wow Dee, wtg
wtg Dee!!!
I have 67 left..
ty and ty lickety!
he's a smart kid m
I like him.LOL
jilli did they remain friends?
I have 168 left! Not going to worry about this one -- too busy tomorrow.
west, that's a funny one. When I was 8 and went to England, I was introduced to another little girl by my aunt (my dad's sister) so that I'd have someone to play with. Turns out she was the ex-fiancee's kid. I found out later that my mother was not pleased.
yes, lol you might have been sisters
i don't think "we can still be friends" was done so much back then!LOL
that's a helical thought, west!
I hope you're thinking about who will play them in the movie
Actually, the ex-fiancee went back to England so I don't think they saw anything of each other after the breakup.
but first you must write the book
very funny, west!
oh.. what actors do you think looks most like them??
I wanted my dad to write the book.
Paul Newman looked a bit like my dad.
but he's died! that won't work at all!
Irene Dunne like my mother?
oh! how bout that guy who played captain kirk in the latest star trek??
Can't think of any of the new ones. Will try...
irene dunne!!! what year is this jilli?!?!?
LOL, m9!
maybe Cate Blanchet? and Jude Law?
just because I'll watch anything with Jude Law in it
chris pine!
They're just not the type.
then maybe unknowns who will become big stars
look at this jilli: http://tinyurl.com/2d5pzzg
I don't go to movies these days so haven't a clue.
I think he has a little paul newman to his look..
you saw Avatar lol
ooh m look at those eyes
I didn't see avatar
jilli did
oh yes, yummy. But wait -- will change icons to dad...
nice eyes, huh!
yes, dad had blue blue eyes.
ok.. I need to go beddy bye... but I'm waiting to see yer dad!
I can't think of actress that looks like irene dunne... oh wait... wait...
didn't she play Mama?
oh.. how about zooey deschanel!
Here he is (refresh or re-enter)
don't know her great name though
wow.. that's a serious look he's got going!
He was 50 then.
I can only see the tiny pic will go out and come back in
He wasn't really that serious -- just felt awkward having his picture taken.
this is zooey deschanel: http://tinyurl.com/267pcwu
he's quite good looking.
I think chris pine is a good choice.
that didn't work either
she's pretty kind of looks like your Aidan
yes, zooey is a bit like my mum
oh yeah! but most people say Aiden looks like Drew Barrymore
I should be a casting agent!!LOL
HeWho says I should be banned from talking to people on the internet.... I said I was going to bed a while ago!LOL
HeWho says I should be banned from talking to people on the internet.... I said I was going to bed a while ago!LOL
except for the hair color I can see that too
Chris Pine isn't chiselled enough. Dad was more like Alec Guinness in the Bridge Over the River Kwai.
west, I wish you could see Dad properly!
I see that likeness jilli
Of course, Alec Guinness could look like anyone!
me too jilli I'm going to try once more
guess he could, quite an actor
LOVE alec guinnes!
not chiselled enough!! we can deal with that.. we'll starve him for a few weeks before filming..
I can see him !!
There's a picture of my mother when she was young which I love -- must scan it into the computer some day. It's in a frame now.
he was quite handsome
Oh good, west!
I shut down completey
ok. I'm off to bed! Would love to see a pic of your mom some day!
I thought so -- that's my favourite picture of him -- he was fresh off the tennis court in Hong Kong.
*completely
happy dentisting m
*poof* (ha ha west!)
G'night m9 -- you can see her pic when you come here for a visit ;)
I dentisted yesterday -- no problems, just a cleaning and scraping.

Ah, I see you could :)

ruby have you given him his gift yet?
no, I'm waiting until pre-lunch when dil gets up (!!!) and he is having his apero before the restaurant
and John brought him a little fossil from TX
he should like that
your d-i-l sounds like my kind of non-early riser :)
were they on standby for very long?
down to 125, hopefully can finish them tomorrow
they had a great, easy, trip. First class from Dulles to Geneva and free except for taxes and fees! Denise has a 1964 family priority because of her 84 yr old uncle who worked for United. Amazing
goodnight all
hellooooooo
good night flosey very nice
g'night flosey -- well done!
ruby I wish I had an uncle like that
they don't know until close to flight time, but the plane was mostly empty, no 1st class passengers at all, so it was easier than usual. Geneva isn't a hot spot for tourists!
hello var
gd night, flosey

Joan

Nancy Ellen sounds like I should be wearing Mary Janes. Does anybody else still remember them?
oh yes
unknown to me

that's what they said in Catholic schools
I know lol

How many words please

Thanks
No problem.
morning Haz
Good evening, lynxxx.
What news of life with lynxxx and Stu?
Not much actually, still waiting for Spring to arrive, only seen glimpses so far. That will give me a spur on to start some projects. What is happening with you...I imagine lots with your daughter/s (?) back and planning of wedding
morning all and sandrafrances
It's been one of those slightly mad periods where everything has happened at once. Wedding planning is going swimmingly, but lots of activity to do with Riding for the Disabled, I was helping out at a charity function last night and I've taken on another role as secretary for Speech and drama at the local festival.
Sorry I haven't been talking much of late. I am finding some of the company a little off-putting. Present company excluded of course!
I know, it can get overwhelming and easier to keep quiet.
When is the local festival (annual I expect?)
Hello, diann.
morning Diann and Sandra
It happens every late February/ early March. There's a huge amount of administration going on behind the scenes that I knew nothing about.
Sadly, the previous secretary died recently so it's a case of trying to figure out what used to happen and update things to bring it in line with computers. She had refused to use them...
oh dear. Volunteers are wonderful and usually hold all those things together
She was something of a legend in the town, so active in so many areas, it's a hard act to follow.
I am sure you will do exceptionally well
I'm getting a lot of support from other members, so I'm hoping it will all go smoothly.
The prospect of listening to 90 pupils reciting the same poem is a bit daunting.
Lots of the classes are for schools, so troops of children arrive to say their bit. The same adjudicator listens to the whole lot and my role will be to prod her awake.
!!!
lol
So, apart from all that going on, life is normal.
Morning/evening Haz and lynxxx.
Hello, FM!
morning FM
Hi Haz, you ARE a busy bee at the moment!
Hi lynxxx
I know. It all seems to be happening at once. The charity do last night was a great success, a Pink Pamper night for ladies in a local hotel. We'll find out today how much money was raised.
Oh that sounds like fun.
It was for Action Cancer, the charity of the Moonlight walk. We had about 160 ladies out last night and it was fun watching them trying to do armchair yoga.
One fried had me in stitches. She was always one beat behind everyone else, like Jones in Dad's Army.
friend
Armchair yoga? lol re friend.
Kind of using exercises that could be done sitting down - lots of arm movements, leg exercises but no twisting in knots.
Ahh well Im sure a good time was had by all and in the name of a very good cause.
There was also a talk on dressing in a recession (new version of wartime Make do and Mend) and a talk on breast self-examination. So a good variety of topics.
is the Recession still a problem over there?
Yes, it was fun and they all went home with a goody bag of treats donated by friendly firms. People here like to get their money's worth.
No rain today and the sun is just coming through the mist so I am getting ready to head out and do shopping/errands and then get stuck into a mound of paperwork.
It's a big problem, lynxxx and may be about to get worse as the government is going to be issuing cuts soon to get the deficit reduced.
Grim. We are doing very well over here
Enjoy the sun (we had mist last night as well for the first time) and don't get TOO stuck in the paperwork mound.
and VAT goes up in January to 20%
ouch
So husband was right. He mentioned something about VAT going up and I hoped he was either mistaken or joking. Eeeeek.
yep, a 5% rise :(
It's at 17.5% now, though.
doh you are right HAz was remembering the heady days when it was dropped to 15%.
They took it back to 15 for a while to encourage us to spend money we didn't have.
but is it on ALL goods and services. It is here with few exceptions
OK gonna scoot, the sooner I go the sooner I can be back to babble, erm I mean work *grin*
It's not on food or children's clothes and you can claim it back if you're registered as a trader or farmer etc.
bye FM
Bye, FM.
It is not on FRESH foods here, can't think of any other exceptions
It can make quite a hefty difference to a bill - things can look reasonable until you start adding in the extras. It's a bit like these budget airlines, you can go anywhere for practically nothing, but oh look, you've got to pay taxes and extra to be able to breathe fresh air.
Paying tax never has been and never will be popular, but if we want roads and hospitals etc, then we just have to cough up.
Ours is still at 12.5%. Wonder how our personal tax rates compare....anyway half way for me, will take a break for a bit. Bye for now Haz
Toodle-oo, lynxxx and thanks for confirming that I'm not the only one to be quiet for a reason.
I should take a break as well and come back to this with fresh eyes. Bye!
VAT is 12.5% in austrailia? Wow
Hi Bichon, well timed, 2 hours later and I just got back
Each state has a different sales tax rate [and some have none] Ours is 6%
and VAT in UK is going to be 20%. But we both have a better public health system than the US I think. The UK is much better than Australias
We don't have individual state taxes...each gets a portion from the Commonwealth from personal, company and GST taxes - much simpler
I think the public health system in the UK [and Aus.] is more accessible and available than in the US, but I'm not sure that the quality is always better.
We get our insurance through our employer and we do have to pay for some of it, but we don't have to wait for an operation.
Yes - I meant accessable and affordable only of course
Then there are the people who are unemployed and don't have insurance at all.
Our personal tax rates are much lower than in European countries
All are covered by our Medicare and if you want additional cover (so you don't need to wait for operations and have choice of doctors you can take out additional private health cover - privately)
One problem we face, upon my husband's retirement, is dental coverage. We will have Medicare coverage, but will have to pay to go to the dentist.
Yes - I just looked at them...you seem to be able to claim all sorts of things too. Ours allows no claims for the average income earner. Avge rate is 30-38%
Dental here is a problem too,,,about 30% only is covered by the extras on our private health insurance.
We don't itemize deductions on our income tax. We don't have a mortgage and have a health savings plan. But, our tax bracket is low
In living memory here we have not been able to claim any sort of mortgage payments
The interest on a mortgage is fully deductible. But, if you have a small mortgage, it may not pay to itemize deductions
Does the government pay any sort of aged pension?
We get Social Security, but it's really only a pittance. We have pensions through work though. But still, if you don't have additional savings, it's difficult
Same here, any applicants are asset tested. Though the pension itself is not too bad, livable but no extras. Government, because of baby boomers hitting retirement age, has been pushing Superannuation for last 20 years. Any employer is now obligated to pay 10% into each employees Super fund
Hello again.
wb Haz
good afternoon all
I'm hoping to get the rest of the grid finished. I've never seen so many s in a grid! Hello, sprite.
hi Sprite
hello beautiful babble friends
98 - if I am adding correctly
a not insignificant grid in itself, 98
What a nice compliment!
what about yesterdays - ! I listed about halfway
the both of you deserve it, Haz
I know. Babble's like that, one day a delight, the next a slog. Don't ever get complacent about babble!
I liked yesterdays. Listed for the last 5.
I am waiting for Sprite to tell us about her good morning, she is obviously very happy with the world
If you list for anything Sprite I just know I am going to be in trouble
I am. Made some big decisions and am ready to go on with MY life.
Excellent! And not a k in sight, it's an omen.
lol lyn! With big grids, I sometimes have to list at the end because I cannot think of any more words to try.
Haz, it must be :)
Good girl!
oh, and I had tremendous fun making this icon.
You've combined all the elements - well done! I'm sure ruby will be back at some stage to enjoy it.
That is fun Sprite
most likely, and otherwise I can email her the picture.
I like the toasting fossil best
And is the drink definitely his tipple?
hold on, must look up tipple
His drink of choice.
oh nice one :) Actually, the fossil said that after so many years in the earth, any alcohol would do.
Understandable! Your English is so good I sometimes forget that you don't know every phrase - and of course there are all sorts of regional variations as well.
I love learning new words and phrases. Thanks.
The Dutch speake the best English
People can also ask 'What's your poison?' meaning 'What would you like to drink?' but it must sound off-putting to the unwary.
hi bichon! Well, except for the English people?
Debatable, when you hear some people speaking on TV.
nearly 200 and I just find an 8/9
I've always wondered why the Dutch speak the best English. The Germans and Scandinavians are good too, but nowhere near the Dutch
*grin* Must be fun, asking someone which poison they prefer. Will remember. In dutch, some people on TV are awful to listen to too. Some accents are horrible.
Share Lynxxx, please
wtg lyn!
bichon, it might be because the Dutch always had to? Being a tiny country and being very active traders?
Sprite in NYC and the surrounding area, we have a lot of Dutch place names. Front steps are called the "stoop"
think of the tongue twister about selling shells at the beach
oh I didn't know that! That is funny, bichon.
lyn, how does it go?
And a seesaw is called a "sliding nd" after some Dutch word
*pond
a seesaw is a swing, right? We call that a schommel... something you probably cannot pronounce. The ch is a hard G, a guttural sound.
Thats a bit hard Sprite, gives too much away. think of a compound word for a beach
ty Lynxxx, got it
ohhhh sorry lyn! I didn't realise it was a clue. Please tell me the tongue twister tomorrow?
a seesaw is a plank of wood balanced in the centre, so needs 2 children on either end to go up then down
No, a seesaw is a plank and it's set on a thingamajib which makes it go up and down when there are children on it.
oh ok, that is a wip. Or a wipwap.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seesaw
thanks, yes a wip (in Dutch). Don't know from which word 'sliding pond' comes.
I could never speak Dutch. Correctly pronouncing VanGogh is a bear
a thinjamajib - of course! - I couldn't think what to call it!
I think it's a sliding bahn, corrupted to pond
Van Gogh and Scheveningen. Enough to drive most english and german speaking people nuts.
bichon, that is odd! A sliding bahn refers to a glijbaan, a smooth thing that you climb at one si4, with steps, and then slide down from.
a slide
Wait, I'm mixed up. A sliding pond is a slide. Got to get back to my inner child
ah, that makes sense. Let's get out to the playing ground, bichon.
oh got another 8
The comparatives and superlatives get a good showing today. And there are some nice uses of the 'le4/4 is more' ending.
ah thanks :)
Right, I'm going to leave you to enjoy the rest of the grid. Nice to see you all and have a good day. Bye!
bye Haz
bye Haz, have a good day
Bye!
too bad ud5 and le4 don't combine
and a st*** + le** ranch would be run by vegans?
lol!
hey, sprite :-)
hi Une :)
aw such a sweetie on your icon

hey lynxxx :-)
wow
sprite, your icon is a classic! LOL
thanks :)
we should have an archive of "award-winning Babble icons" :-)
oh yes that would be fun
am always surprised we cannot re-'slim'. People do it all the time.
:-D
dogs pointing to their watches -- time to go outside to pee -- back in a mo!
lol Une... YOU do it indoors, right?
yes! LOL
*grin* Am relieved.
Yay another 8/9
could please give a vague clue, lyn?
builds on the dr 'frock' word
sorry, not very vague
thank you

mmm coffee is nice

:-)
aww Tony Curtis has died
aww
6 times married... wow
such a pretty man and so funny, would have been much in demand
absolutely
During WWII I was in camp and he was our counselor;s boyfriend. He came up to visit and we all fell all over him as 9 year olds would do. He graduated from the same HS as we.
oh Annie, that is special

Hi varumba
Mutual, I'm sure, FM.
singing always brings her to us, we must be sirens :)
Yes, FM is right - I spend less time Babbling now that I can actually spend time doing other stuff.
Sirens... yeah, as in emergency alarms!
Are you still working on the huge project and if so how is it going?
Aha! I have finished the project, and you can see it in my profile. I actually joined Flickr. It's the top two pictures in my profile, looks like.
Are you well, Annieb, I hope?
emergency alarms, I take exception to that, just wait till HAz gets here!
Oh - zoomz off to have a look.
I am well, Vicuna and your alphabet book was a great hit
Oh good, glad to hear it. =)
That has worked beautifully Vi, well done! Did the ToG think so too?
di 8/45?
They did. They have placed an order to have one framed and hung in their play area. I'm pretty pleased with it. A few parts didn't turn out as I hoped, but that's inevitable. For the most part I like it. Now we'll have to see how the great public feel about it at shows!
di8/45 - expire + peanut butter Pieces without the double vowel
Well done dear one - it was quite a project!
Yeah, took me a couple of weeks. Of course, a couple of weeks of work is nothing compared with a big needlework project!
i don't get the peanut butter pieces vic
Oh, sorry, varumba, that's a US thing. Try expire + consonant + spelled out plural letter
or maybe kick the bucket + a couple of Witherspoon actresses without the double vowel
that did it, lol
I think that di word is one of the hardes I have seen to clue for a long time.
tx
could'nt understand the spelled out plural letters either ;P
My pleasure.
fireworks, and now must have breakfast!! 10:20 am
oooh i get it now... spoken plural letter in the plural.... lol
well they count as a word in Enable, so if you haven't yet, type it into the grid and you'll get another word!
Yay for flosey!
wtg flosey!
var, as you are now clearly addicted to the game you will learn much of the lingo and terminology us ancient addicts use :)
congrats, flosey
Congrats flosey!
yep, hope so anyway!
ty ty, also have to move furniture so carpet cleaner can now do downstairs!
Clean carpets are nice.
When I first started babbling I didn't talk for at least a month or so.
In theory, I mean. Not that Id actually know anything about it. =P
Yeah, I didn't talk for months. And only started with giving the occasional clue. SPeaking when spoken to, as it were. =)
had upstairs done yesterday
clearly i have no problem with looking like a right idiot LOL
lol var you do not come over as an idiot at all!
Yeah, well I'm not very outgoing in general, so that was just me. Nothing wrong with jumping right in if that's your style!
just feel like it when i read a clue, and have no idea! lol
The majority of idiocies are committed by people who are afraid of looking like idiots!
Words of wisdom from Vicuna.
Oh that feeling comes to us all from time to time var
i think it's more that i am so competitive, i cannot go to bed until i have finished that damn grid..... so i have to ask before i throw the laptop at the wall out of frustration ;)
I think varumba might need an intervention in the future
Ah, yes, I didn't finish a grid until I'd played for I don't know how long. Admittedly, when FM and I began, there was no such thing as a list.
hello everybody
oh i wouldn't go far without the list!
hi jacq
Now that finishing is possible, I also am too compulsive to leave one undone.
and the clues ;)
hello jacq
Hello, jacq.
hello varumba
heya annie and vic et al
That is, if I start I finish. If I know I won't have time to finish, I don't start.
Vi it wasn't too long after that BrandyJack started his lists
yes, i think i'm gonna have to stick to that too vic, if i want to get the sleep i need
Well, it wasn't long before people would post snippets of list in the log: all the L's, say. But I think it was a while before BJ's list in all its glory was available.
Evenin jacq, how goes it?
the last dr5/12?
my last is archaic past tense of put on clothes. But there may be another.
hells bells its 6.30pm - must poof for a while. Great to see you Vi and TTFN all.
it goes well FM if i type slowly lol, how goes it with you?
oh duh me... i had found it, but not entered it in the list
Goodbye, FM! Nice to see you, too!
bye FM, have a great evening

Jac it was just a comment not a drat it kind of thing.
i cant get le 4 5. i hate asking clues for 4s but i am stumped
Thanks for the Te clue and the He8 Jac.
Pini - maybe.
That and it shows that with this many words it is still possible to not have everything covered
le4.5 = le + 'that woman' with her vowel removed.
that and my idiot eyes or glasses are failing me
it is rather a big one herin.
If you can't get that, think of the scene in the lift in a Pink Panther movie, where farting happening and Goldie Hawn giggled.
Hi Red.
It is big but friendly that other monster the other day I chucked it in
ok , I have 108 left, but I need to go to sleep. and it is indeed a nice grid, wish I could stay up for it.

Hi, Nef!
Cos sorry I don't ahve that word uyou need
so any clues for the se 6 after that 7?
These days, she'd just be seen as yet another nutter and put into therapy. At least that way she would not have been put to death by fire.
Could I have a clue for one of the words originating from the fourth column, third row E, please?
Hi Nef and Kalea. Is that yr pup?>
se6, which is a large beer mug, sounds like drie***, a Jewish plaything.

If I had the yard and no cats I would have adopted a rescue Border Collie x
ok jac but if it is se and then that i am not getting it.

Ah, Jac, it's just a small measure of progress for those of us who need encouragement...
kalea - Ah! Can't see the fun in that, myself.

ty
Sorry Cos I don't have it. I don't know if you saw the message
mkg - try switching the e and the i around.
this is my first small dog, and never thought I'd like one, but Moe is great
thanks here
that word is a proper last name.
awww. I really would take home a couple of the rescues if I had a yard
tr 8 is two words. the 4 above and then to have none of those is to be this.
Herin - do you in Oz call a garden a 'yard', too?
Moe doesn't care for cats, birds, or most other dogs, so he's an only child
Yard for the back Garden for the front or were plants are
eight.

Like out the front is a garden that is were all the pretty plants and flowers are the yard out the back is were teh hills hoist and BBQ live

sh7/32?
pini i cnat get that one either. the 9 is after it.
The word yard is never used in UK to describe anything other than a small spacebehind a house, a length of 3 feet, or a place where trucks park or deliver.
JAc you have gardens yes? To me a garden is a place of plants a back yard is a place of grass and trees and a cubby
sh7.32 is like the 8 above without the last vowel
Hi Lb
in my neck of the woods, a garden is pretty flowers; a yard is a space with grass sometimes edged by trees/bushes...
ty ibd.
hi herin!
Hi, lbd
thx lbd ;)
does anyone have sh 5 14 the second to last one????pretty please?
a yard is anything that you have to water, mow or take care of.
hi jellen

Or let grow ferral in my case
gardens are for veggies
it was clued, mkg
also need si 6 18 the second one on list. pini are you done?

Interesting discussion. A yard can have a garden in itr; my back yard (which is 100X 150 ft) has 3 separate vegetable gardens in it and I have some flower gardens around the edges
si6/18 & si7/28 after misters
cant find it. any idea how long ago?
yes minski. do you have a clue?
I think we are just used to having a backyard were the kids go nuts and the front yard to show off to the neighbours how pretty it is
what you do to paper; tear into small pieces
nope. Iwas hoping one of you did.
re 6,24 please
si6.28 combo si double cons + double vowels, plural for the 7

di is tough. opp of live + there are monkeys called by this name but they spell it rh. sounds like double plurals.
di 8: expire + ?
di8 = terminate life + do ** mi + counseling ***sion
yes die and then use the r but not the h for the monkeys.
will try olive oil. good idea
does that work?
de 6,21

It is warm here but cold. I am dreading going to my parents nexrt week. They have had snow
is that unusual?
i am so not ready for snow yet!
In Spring
ah
still stuggling with AS
They got 2 inch's over night this week and I said to mum she pooed my idea about getting a -5 sleeping bag
I'm in the upper midwest; areas of MPLS and St. Paul are having flood stages here. We live on a gentle hill, away from the flooding river
z words I have... 2 ways of saying zs, rind of citrus and what you use to get it
and I hate snow
You Saffe there Nef?
I'd like to know why rez*** isn't a word; it means to calibrate a measuring device in my profession
oh, and ze word for null
I have 36 left
we are safe, herin. It was raining so much the past couple of weeks and we've now had 3 days of drying out; but the Mississippi River is finally starting to drop

OK even though I have had toasty's someone just mentioned on tv about hazelnut spread and bannana pancakes. That is a brill idea
I'm not sure what sounds good about that, herin. I'm eating celery and carrots myself
sounds tasty
(I always crave crunchy stuff
It does. I love my honey pancakes
I like pancakes with just a little plain old maple syrup and a touch of butter
I am trying to fins a hotel for next week with dinner not breaky
hotels come with free dinners? Or don't I understand you?
still looking for that last st 6 -- missed the clue as I was called away from the comuter.

I have lost the will to finish minis list
herin; it would be nice to find such a deal; never heard of that before and would love to hear how you do.
too bad herin but you can stay and chat
They do have them but they are very pricey. I guess it is Mcdonalds for dinner that night
I am going to finish with the list
the hotel we stay at for thankgiving includes the breakfast and dinner in the price --lunch is extra
we don't need breaky we are going out for luch
really, jmc? That sounds cool!
we have been going there 20 years as an ever growing family
4 generations
well hubby's family
WOW!!! what a neat tradition!
unfortunately i think we are down to only one member of the first generation (my MIL) coming and I would be surprised if it was not her last
how old is she, jmc?
That is said
SAD bad tyoping
late 80s but fell and broke her hip last year (while my mother was dieing and i was distracted) and really has not recovered mentally
JM I hope you don't blame yourself for her accident
I'm sorry to hear that.
oh no -- she was being herself
she saw a woman at the "apartment" who had fallen and instead of getting help she decided she would pick her up herself
Good I read that as you blamed yourself
so shefell and broke her hip
her hip replaced but her mind has been rapidly slipping away
no no I can see how you would have gotten that but it was more about not being around for her
as she was recovering
oh dear! trying to help someone else and she injures herself
You can't be everwhere at once
well she really should have called for help
no i know herin but she likes me better than her son who has now come and filled in the void i left
awww
but i really had to deal with my mother and all
i think she may have done better if i had been around more but she was slipping mentally already so whose to say
tr8?
jmc, the son should have been there all along; your leaving and being with your Mother shouldn't have left a void
tr8 is 2 4 letter words, tre + not enough
well we got along really well and she did not with her local son (one of six including my huby)
ty nef
i cannot stand him myself
