I went to a thing at my g.fs. A Star of IShtar new moon gathering. it is a womens thing were we can talk and such. ANd then we had a bonfire and bbq at my g.fs farm

It was great. It may be a Pagan thing but it really is non religious and great for getting together with females if you have not money close friends
that is what I miss here (one of the things); it is only one French friend at a time, no intimate groups like among English-speakers
and the women are basically more formal or at least it seems that way

Gurn is a wonderfully useful word. It covers all those silly faces you pull at one another. Gurning is actually a competition in Northern England and some of the faces are truly horrible with lips inside out and eyes in opposing positions etc - unbelievable. It's a perfect Babble word so why isn't it allowed?

was reading back on the thrift shoppes,we have a disturbing trend going on here.people who do not need these shops to keep clothes on their back or something other than a cardboard box for furniture,are hitting all the local shoppes one after another,grabbing all jeans and any thing made of leather and making quilts and custom leather clothing and selling them at flea markets the next month or in their own boutiques...seems wrong somehow... thoughts?

If the items have been dontated to the thrift shop then the homeless would not have access to them I guess. I donate stuff to homeless or sheltered housing charities rather than the mainstream ones but do like to browse in a charity shop.
Depends - if it is a charity shop like ours we dont care who we sell to as it is money in the charities pocket. Our manager is pretty shrewd and knows her labels so the good stuff is suitable priced.

I always donate my things to a local Church that does food banks and clothing banks. - They will go to the really needy.
We have a proboem here that the charities blitz an area with bags to ask for donations and people leave them outside to be collected - and the wrong people get there first, collect the bags and sell the stuff for thewir own profit. I think that is pretty low.
just watching some woman in a beemer outside of a salvation army thrift store cramming 80 pairs of jeans into the trunk catches one off guard,but like deeha says,it the proceeds go to the right place then all is well

We hjave a thing called Value Village - charities that used to collect clothes, small appliances, toys, etc., to sell in their thrift shops now send them to VV and get a cheque - the money for them isn't bad, I guess, and the volunteer requirement is much smaller (the boom really drained people out of volunteer positions), but the people who used to depend on the thrift shops can't afford to buy at VV - so I refuse to either give to them or shop there.

Grew up with Poles and Czechs (then called Bohemians locally - or Bohunks) along with Italians and Irish - the Germans were the ones hardest to get along with as kids!
Our Polish builders are usually bvrilliant. British builders come in at 9.30 and leave at 2.30 and take a lunch breakand tea breaks(I am generalising here!!) but the Polish ones are in at8 and leave at 6 and works really hard all day.

if you watch a lot of movies, but dont GO to the movies, it is great, very quick service usually 2 day turnaroud mail them back on monday new ones by wed. what i like, is i bought myself a roku. a machine that will allow streaming without a dvd so i have that in my kitchen. there is not quite as large a selection as using the blu-ray downstairs, but while i am cooking , etc i can have something i like on. I live in my kitchen so it is great for me

i have really enjoyed watching full seasons of tv on it. my dh gets movies delivered so it works for the both of us
when my daughter was in high school, lifetime tv was running an australian show called McLeods daughters. they only carried 2or 3 seasons. i was able to stream the complete 8 seasons and finally get " closure" ; )

i have had cancer 3 times,am i know from my own personal experience that my natural inclination was to try and withdraw into myself and huddle in my pain and discomfort and try and shut people out because i did not wish the world to see me,like i was,ill in pain,and dependant for others for my every daily movements.my wife ,bless her,never let me go that to myself,she tried to keep every day as normal as it could be and to share her day with me and to pour her love into me..i would go to your father carlee he will be shamed,embarrased,ill,but in the end,he will be glad to see his girl i think...my 2 cents worth anyways

Remind him that you have never cared how he looked because you always saw the man inside – and you still do. Tell him all that he has meant to you over your life – tell him stories you remember and how you felt when you were together. Tell him everything you want to – over the phone, in a letter (or email) – but tell it all. And tell him you love him, over and over. At the least, you will reinforce the love between you and maybe, just maybe, you'll reach out enough that he'll change his mind. But whatever, you will know that you have done your best to tell him and that will give you some peace. It can't be easy when you know you are dying and you want to save your loved ones from the pain, but pain shared is better for all. I pray that your dad will realize that.

we have a jumbo tin of tim horton brand hot chocolate.i make it with 75% milk and a splash of water and the mrs like a few mini mallows on top or shave dark chocolate
eva if u have a grocery store that sells presidents choice down there ( some chains there do ) if u can find it..this stuff is amazing...way better then the ghiradelli ( or however u spell it )
I make my own cocoa mix, which includes peppermint. Recipe available upon request. : P
