absolutely fantastic!! Now, aren't you glad you had the surgery?
wonder why I put it off for last 2 years
It is amazing what fear does to us.
the idea of a knife to eyeball really frightened me until I talked to several friends who were so delighted with results
with *their* results
I totally understand that... is very scary, until you actually know folks who have done it. So glad you finally did!
"the dreadin' is worse than the doin'"
thanks Dee, me too

no flosey - I've been lurking.
ah, hello Dianne
was feeling lonely
not that I talk that much!
you never talk too much.
just comforting to see a bit of action
Has it gotten cold where you are?
yes, we had our first snowfall late today
ground isn't frozen though, won't stay
south-west corner of BC is milder than the rest
When the temp goes below 25c here folks get out their boots, sweaters and scarves ! Today it's around 24c.
I have trouble with C. grew up with F. so that would be around 50F ?
More like 75 F.
sorry for delay - we lost power again - second time tonight
happens when we have this kind of weather
(sleepBabbleChatting) oh hey, someone from Hong Kong! *waves*
hi dfm
Hello to you.
where are you?
hi flosey... woke up from sleep, will probably be back asleep very soon...
(Ottawa)
screen
ah, I was born/raised near Toronto
oops
born HK, been near Toronto most of my life since I was five
ah, lived in Scarborough, North York, Aurora
now west coast BC
Being a student in co-op has its advantages, I'm spending September to December up here :o)
ah, what are you studying?
CS / pure math major
ah, hubby was math/physics
I'm probably gonna go back to sleep, looked up and got excited by the HK flag earlier :o3
pretty late there
yeah... although I normally sleep at around now o.0 and wake up in 5 hours...
feeling extra sleepy today though :o(
5 hours is enough?
g'night then
If I sleep any more I feel really groggy when I wake up :o( and it persists the whole day
that's nasty
mmhmm. g'night (again) | (-.-) | ..zzzZZZ
restful sleep now
helloooooooooo
i see we have a bigger grid today.... how is it?
Morning var a bigger grid and some bigger words too! Am just starting out so no idea if it is kind or bitey.
ok FM and good morning to you too :)
i'm just starting out too and only playing in an attempt to forget how miserable i am, so i hardly care whether the grid is good or not
morning all, looks like a lovely Saturday grid.
Morning all how many in this big grid today
what's the matter hursh??
hi sprite :)
283 sandra, morning
283 sandra, and hiiiiiiii
Hey hursh and spritey sprite and sand ... 283 words.
Thanks
can't sleep, hate my job, don't like myself very much - all the usual things.
((((hursh))))
and there is a 12 and 13 letter word today too sand
i know how you feel ....... I'd love to have a rpivate chat with you to dshare the "tools" I was given to feel better about myself...
oh wow! real biggies :)
oh my i hadn'te ven noticed FM!
a very wet grid, at first look, lol
I have never seen those size words before
what does "wet grid' mean sprite?
so sorry to hear that, hursh. Turning the tide is a tough job, isn't it... I wish I could send you a bit of optimism.
'cos there is an oc5 in there var
oc, aq
oooh ok :) i thought it was an expression for either easy or tough.....
i think my babble brain isn't on yet
lol
lol no, just the first words I found were all water related
Evening all - as the bobbies say
hi there lynxxx
hi lyn :D
Evening lynxxx!
well i guess i better start....
Dixon of Dock Green was the most famouse TV bobby for that phrase (showing my age).
it is the only way to play the grid, varumba :D
:D
decent size grid and coffee and Spooks has just started - what more could I want
hehehe FM, or your memory
i was having breakfast ;)
:) sprite and it was in black and white.
I still need coffee and breakfast (hubby took ca4 of terra this morning and then went for another nap on the couch, grin). But the grid, the size, the big biggies and of course the company are a joy.
you are NOT that old FM
gd morning everybody
lollll ok FM, your age then ;)
good morning ruby!
morning rubyfoo
hi Ruby
bless you lynxx I am
Morning ruby!
male cow dung, FM. You will never be old.
LOL!
is hurshy still there? I think Nov3mber is tough for everybody in the northern hemisphere!
I hope she is, rubyfoo.
and not sure about November being hard... I find December a lot harder to stomach.
I guess the rapidly shortening days and the terrible weather do me in, in Nov
maybe it is a bit better here. We had some awfully cold storm-and-hail-and-rain days, but also a couple of sunny days. Yesterday was wonderful. Cold, but sunny and with that crispy feeling in the air.
I love those sorts of days.
Today is mild but gloomy/grey
oh yes! And Terra loves them too.
we rarely get sunny and crisp here
acted
*thanks ruby*
and the reciprocal thing too, rubyfoo
ooops, sorry, can't chat and find words at the same time! Is there more coffee in the PB?
but there is a good sized grid to be done and I don't have to go anywhere.
if so, I am coming with you, grin
ty, sprite
this is a lovely grid, at least so far
rate
morning all
catter
today is hanging in the balance still, weather-wise. Overcast, but just thinly. If the sun peeps through, it may become lovely again. But if not, just as you say, FM. A good day anyway :)
slinking away....
hello ishult, I am making faux pas right and left
hi Ishult
Hey Ishult! how are things in your neck of the woods?
hi Ishult
h ishult, nice to meet you
all quiet
I'll bet you have wonderful weather, ishult
all quiet
all quiet is great.
having a lazy day
you would probably like our rain and cold, at least for a couple of days!
mabye a couple of days would be nice
anyone know what the big words start with?
not yet, but looking forward to finding them. Wonder if they are compounds (for being so huge)
I only have one ce8/50 - what the press tried to do to bad news
i think most of use here have just started the grid ishult
been looking for over an hour now without luck
my list boasts 2 7s. That is it, lol
oh i've got 4! but dont'even know which ones.. would have to look at my list ;)
I know what they start with but don't want to give it away unless all are OK with it.
FM, I don't mind.
i dont'mind
OK .... Q
averting my eyes for a bit so go ahead
oh wow
both of them?
that figures
yup
we will make the post move down, lyn
down down down
down down down the drain...
la la la
further down
and a bit more
there we are, all set. Come back, lyn!
we need a bell to ring
hah, only found one
and down
wouldn't that be nice!
ding ding!
re9 played the civil war again
tx for that hursh!
HAving a bell would be great for when hurshy plays her NTPN game
ah thanks hursh
lovely hurshy
NTPN?
name that proper noun
I am the unofficial champion of the GWWHIM game though
guess which words hurshy is missing
hahah, fm
how can we cheer hurshy up? Shall we all sing happy songs?\
bethn was def the champ of NTPN last night but hursh was on a roll
tatter
oh don't try, please, just enjoy yourselves
lol @ ruby
I'm losing my marble, but cheerfully
we hug hurshy and are just glad she is with us
you are probably right hursh our singing voices might be a tad painful at this stage of the morning :)
And there's always the risk that Vicuna might drop in.
hi haz!
or Haz. Morning Haz :)
not even marbles! only one left
Unlikely, I know, but it's always to be considered.
hello haz
LOL I was just wondering if it was too early for Vi to be about. Morning Haz!
Hello! I can only stay briefly as I'm going bridesmaid dress shopping this morning.
can you just ttell me this: do the long words have a double cons in the middle? that would help me eliminate combinations ;)
oooooo!
The long words are foreign. FOREIGN! mkg will be horrified.
n1 haz!
sounds lovely, Haz. Bound to be fun! I hope you will succeed.
and what is the colour chart being considered for the dresses?
It's just a kind of recce to start with, I don't think any decisions will be reached.
Hello Haz.
Well, we're NOT going for the luminous range.
foreign in which direction, haz?
Hello, lynxxx.
ah, shopping to enable later shopping.
oh how disapointing *snort*
Foreign in the direction of Rome. Think of little Italian children learning their numbers.
tx, gave me the 12 ;)
and 1
13
*is kicked by monkeys for trying quarter again*
I did see horrific dresses in a magazine. Turquoise and yellow stripes.
and i kept looking for quarante somthing :)
did you see the movie 27 dresses? it should be required for all brides (and bridesmaids)
stripes!
wow party wasps, Haz. All swarming the queen bee.
BEFORE they buy their dresses
Broad stripes but stripes nonetheless. The sort of dresses that you'd hear people use the phrase to describe them 'They're very different.'
thanks for the biggies
For 'different' in Northern Ireland read 'odd as get out'
oh yes, ouch! Painful description.
Hows La Glitterati today?
thanks for the 9, hursh.
Spangle isn't in great form again - just about to take her out for a quick walk to see if she'll brighten up.
So, off we go! Bye!
bye Haz, have a good day
and I hope Spangle will feel better soon
oh i hope she does! enjoy the walk
awe. See you later.
bye haz
I submit a new word: more like a sea. I mean, why not??
did it take it?
no it didn't. Cannot understand why not, grin.
mean game!
absolutely
FM, he is waving at you again today!
oh for heavens sake - I hadn't spotted him!
he is a bit hidden today
who? i guess we're talking abotu a word in the grid?
yes varumba, the love god!
please could I have the stats for th 12 & 13?
I spent an evening a few days ago shredding lots of his paperwork and statements - didn't see the point in keeping them anymore.
ah yes, for once i saw it without being prompted!
lyn, look away...
qu12/144 and 13/170
i was trying to remeber who i had to tell to look away...
tx sprite
those words are so long they almost touch the points in the list!
wow FM, that is good. I mean, you being able to do that.
down down down with the big stats...
down and even more down
oh yes, le'ts push them down
two more...
one more shoudl do it
lol
I can't find them
yessss lyn, it is safe again! Ding ding!
good team work, varumba :)
It felt a bit strange opening the storage box but once I started it was OK, still have quite a bit to go tho.
remember my question about double cons ruby? well the answer was yes: there is a double cons at the beg.....
lol sprite, indeed :)
Hello. Sorry to be a wet blanket but I have missed indulging in Babble for the last week so I want to stretch this one out
my monkeys are trying every Italian number they know (not many, they are central American
I blame all of you for the fact that I haven't added a new word to my list in the last hour!
NP lynxxx, a good sized grid is your bonus for all the decorating you have been doing.
no need to be sorry, lyn! You are entitled to your babble fun.
HAve you finished or is there still more painting to be done?
90%
rubyfoo: just keep them at it. Concentrate on the big ones.
good going hursh
going to see to husband
ruby, think of the french for 400.... in one word. in it alian
Just a few touch-ups - then onto the bedroom! new carpet to come in a couple of weeks so want t get the stripping done before that happens (messiest part)
hi Hursh
it sounds like a huge job, lyn. But it will be worth it on4 it is done.
Last time 'forever' - getting too old to do this again
I can imagine. It is rather stressful and taxing!
saw to husband...hahah
looking for that number, trying everything desperately!
did you see my clue ruby?
rubyfoo, scroll down for a very clear clue from varumba
any news your end Ruby - court decision wise?
at the last minute, the lawyer told me not to bother to go, that she would take care of it and let me know on Monday....talk about anti-climax!
I'll say!
good for her. It saves you a lot of stress, rubyfoo.
Loving the chat but I must be off for a while. TTFN
bye FM, loved seeing you!
bye FM, stay warm!
bye for now FM
bye FM! syl
boy, do I ever feel dumb!
would you like a more detailed clue?
i know it drivves me mad if i can't get it.....
be sure to give lyn warning so she doesn't see the clue, though
you have been so helpful and I keep spelling it different ways but there is obviously something I'm missing (brain cells perhaps?)
i know sprite ;P
close yu eyes for a second, pls, lynxx!
ok, lynxxx, avert your eyes plz
this one is gonna be very explicit....
:D
......
sooooo it is a compound word first = italian for 4 qu***** + italian for 10 (like french, but add the ring vowel at the end ) ***** = 12
italian for 100*
the question is, do you knwo the italian for 4?
for the 13, add the pl
the bit for 4 ends with the same ring vowel
to lower yourself to the ground with flat feet = to (s)qu**. + in***duction + 1/100 part of an euro + vowel. Plural for the 13.
oh my, I got the 12, XXXX varumba
yw, just add the pl letter and you'll get the 13
so let's make it go down again
phew, thank you both for your patience and poor lynxx
because I very much like lyn to be part of the chat
filling up the chog with my silliness
cause I love her very much
lol, it's ok, i was the same yesterday with a few words..... ppl basically had to spell them out to me
nd i hve no doubt i'll be the ame later on with the words i'll remain blind to!
I love her too, also you, sprite, and varumba -- cha cha cha
so that was fast
lyn, ding ding! All is safe!
ok lyn, you can look again!!
lol yvw :)
Good morning everyone. TY for telling me the 12 was the Italian for 400! But I do object very strongly to making it plural with an "S". As every Italian speaker would know, you would plural it by making it end in I. So there! Stamps foot.
I have had words being clued for me in 10 ways, 5 letter words! And me not seeing them. It is part of babble, I think.
i know sally, i never said it was the pl italian , just that had to add the pl letter ;)
so agree with you sally :)
so very true, Sally, and hi. But hey, you know... enable and all that.
hello sally, they were just trying to help me
and now time to fix spouse his Campari!
many thanks for all your help -- see you later
Oh I'm not complaining at any of you! I see the definition is not actually "400" so I suppose they can get away with it.
*poof*
lol true
I want coffee...
I think this is the first time I have had a 13-letter word in the grid.
or a campari, sprite?
they are pretty rare
impressive points to those words too!
certainly my first in almost the whole year I've been playing
rubyfoo, I haven't even had breakfast... guess that wouldn't be a great idea, LOL
I have a bacon sarnie and fresh coffee in front of me!
hahah
rain
sure sure Sally, rub it in, why don't you!
I've been up for hours!
hi Sally
hey so have I. But my love is sleeping in the living room. And I am gonna let him.
oh, oh. Takes sarnie into pb.
I've been up ruby, just not had breakfast till now.
{{sally}}
real poof
come on Sally, share. No hogging the bacon! Nor the coffee!
It's very good bacon. Pours coffee for sprite.
Will put some extra rashers on the griddle for you Sprite.
you are a life saver, Sally, and a true friend. Thanks!
bye rubyfoo
hehehe I found a worm!
not in the sarni though.
*Inspects sarnie anxiously*
yeah that was clumsily phrased, sorry. The sarni is perfect. So is the coffee. Just a harmless grid worm.
Goodnight all, going to turn in early
Goodnight lyn
godo night lynxx!! sweet dreams
night lyn, have a lovely night
well first round of the grid, and i've onyl managed to blank 2 tiles! (the 2 small E).....
i'm sure lickety's will move me forward though, but it's time i get a move on....
i'll syl guys.... hf with this big grid
byeeeeeeee
it is a big grid, hun, you are doing fine :)
bye varumba, have a great day
txm you too sprite xxxx *poof*
am off for a bit too, bye all
Bye Sprite.
Hello, All :-)
Hallo zooz!
Hi, Sally, How are you?
Not too bad. Feeling a bit dozy. Still haven't bought one of those lights yet.
Hi zooz and Sally snoozy here too but been up for ages :(
Yes it is a grey day here too, hope you buy it soon.
Hello, FM :-)
Heloooo zoooooz :)
Oh, I've been up! Did hens, fed cats, had breakfast, been babbling :-)
You will notice that housework doesn't feature on this list :-)
lol, a wise person indeed, sally :-)
I chatted a lot in the chog but didn't find a single word then went to get the Saturday papers and am now happyily finding words.
house work - an unknown phrase to me.
I came on just as someone was clueing the 12 and 13, which was a nice start.
But you have a cleaner FM.
shhhhh :)
ooh, thanks..will look back in the chog *looking*
I would have to clean the house before I could let a cleaner near it.
My one indulgence.
How is life on the 'farm' Sally?
Is hubby doing OK?
lol. Wet.
Haz is out bridesmaild dress perusing - can't wait to hear what didn't make the list when she gets back!
Actually he's improving pretty well FM. Will never be back to normal or get the feeling in his hands back, but he is lucky to be alive, and could so easily have been either dead or quadroplegic.
I suspect Haz of being more tasteful than chav, somehow.
Sheesh, makes you think! Glad he is much imroved though.
Oh yes, no nakd midrifs nor platform shoes.
Is that just the men you are talking about?
LOL!!!!
would have to throw in hairy chests and medallions
egos and wigs and bad breath
Ok, now have the 12 13 Also found one of the 9s earlier..Thanks ,Sally.
yuck, I'm having a vry bad flash back.
By the way, talking of bad tastle, have you seen these Christmas lights? Imagine living next door! <http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=szLmAP W39uE>
And here's another one: <http://www.youtube.com/watch?annotati on_id=annotation_652395&v=mnk0KjWxgMA& feature=iv>
Sorry, tastle sb taste.
Heehee, imagines FM and zooz glued to their monitors in horror.
OMG!
Good god that second one started off rather nicely..but man it got worse.
I had to force myself to stop watching it.
Giggle. Nice, aren't they.
am not going to look at the 2nd one - still have flashing lights in front of my eyes.
we do have someone near us who has thousands of lights outside at christmas, but they do not stobe like that..lol
Must have cost a fortune to put together. I read (when I was given the links) that it takes 8 hours to code one minute.
There is a house near to where i used to live that did a huge display just for the 2 weeks before Christmas to raise money for the local air amulance service and they regularly raised about £12k. Was a great display.
I have to say that they are actually very well done. If you saw part of it on a stage you would think it was very clever:-)
What i do like about this sort of thing over here at least is, they do it for charities.
Talking of which did either of you watch any of the 'Children in Need' prog last night?
Perhaps Haz could have something like this for the wedding reception?
I would break out into a sweat watching my electric meter wizzing round..lol
LOL Sally we MUST remember to tell her that!
No FM, no TV, though I do watch some things on iPlayer. Was it good?
I saw parts of it , FM.
Hi everybody. FM - I watched the Corrie/Eastenders combo. Very good!
Hello, Soodle.
That was one of the highlights for me Soodle but it was quite surreal.
Hey Zooz ((()))
I'd say they had the best of fun making it!
Wonder if they have it on iplayer..i missed that bit.
Think it wouldn't mean much to me never having seen either programme. Now if they did a spoof of the Archers...
Oh it was soo funny zooz
I wonder if they will raise as much money as last year.
I think they raised about £18.
yay it is on youtube, just going to watch it.
morning all - they are ahead of where they were last year at this time
Hi Katie!
Hello Katie :-)
KAtie - you ahve been to the Maldives, yes?
we went in May - no big holidays booked now until I find out if I still have a job *sigh*
Hi Katie.
Oh dear - how uncertain is the situation?
Only reason I was asking is that crossy was talking about taking his wife there for their anniversay.
we will lose between 1/3 to 1/2 of staff so really not good. we will all have to apply for our own jobs again, process will start in January with us all being issued with at risk redundancy notices
sheesh, sorry to hear that - have you got skills/opportunities you could fall back on?
Oh, thats scary Katie. Best of luck....
oh it is a fantastic place. Can strongly recommend and island called Reethi Beach, and would recommend he goes all inclusive
Now is the time to start networking and making contacts.
hello again. 131 this morning and now?????
Hi ruby
Thanks both. The problem is they are stopping doing much of what we do. The other quangoes in the sector have all closed and the council's are downsizing as much as we are so if I don't keep my job there is no hope of getting another similar job so I will need to retrain or something
Hi Rubes (())
Hi ruby.
the worst thing is that I have devoted my career to public service and absolutely love my job, I have no idea what else to do although I am sure I have transferable skills I am lucky enough to have a job that is made for me, just makes it harder to start over again especially at 42 with 10 years studying behind me to do this!
Thats what I meant re networking Katie. I went through a big career change about 8 years ago due to redundancy and learnt a whole new set of skills as a result.
good luck, katie, career changes are tough but, often, wonderful in the end!
{{soodles}}
Katie I was a little older than you and it was a very scary prospect but it has been the best thing that happened to me.
once I got over the loss of the job and all of that.
my network is all in the public sector or with developers/consultants and everyone is downsizing so it will be a complete change reqired, just need to find something I can feel passionate about and I'm struggling. I'm sure I could find work but it is dealling with the loss of what I want to do I'm finding hard - you never know I might be one of the lucky ones (fingers crossed)
Katie, if, as you said, the job was made for you, you will more than likely be kept on. Think positive.
I think for a lot of people it feels like a loss of self-esteem. It is also very difficult to work for yourself, and to be motivated to work on your own.
amen, katie!
still health and family is more important no matter how much I love my job and at least I have both of them
still could have smacked the bloke who said we had never had it so good in the week lol
I have worked for myself in the past and it was OK then, would find it more difficult now. I found other people difficult as well, they would assume because I was working from home I could drop everything at the drop of a hat and have coffee, or sit in the garden or something.
how are thiings with you soodle, I didn't realise until this week how hard you had been hit
you as in the Country!
Oh I could not believe that - what was he thinking? but there have been quite a few comments in the press from odinary people backing him up.
I like working in the public sector as it meets my values etc so it would have probably have to be working for myself, I'd hate to have to just be a profit hunter.
phew, I though it wa Soodle, personally!
Katie - Its an absolute nightmare. I have just given up watching the news. The IMF are here now, and heaven knows what will happen next.
I am also a public servant - I work in the Coroners Service. The suicide rate had jumped by...wait for it... 700%. Its just dreadful.
I think if you have a tracker mortgage and kept your job he is right, however if you are unemployed, rent need to remortgage trying to get on the property ladder running a small company or relying on savings he was very wrong - and that covers a lot of people
700%! that's astonishing
700% what to say?
By the way, for those of us still doing the grid, we not only have the Italian for 400, but the Italian for 300.
700% oh that it just so dreadful
Look away if you didn't want to know this :-)
I am not happy with the world we live in but see no way to be able to influence any changes.
ty sally
Of course - those stats are not being made public, which is following in the tradition of this government adopting the Mushroom approach. (Keep 'em in the dark, and feed them sh*t)!
This was a Public Service Announcement.
LOL, just watched the eaststreet (children in need) really enjoyed that.
I've stepped up what I do for charity and have done the shoebox appeal this year as well as my sponsor child, next year I will look to see what else I can do, always remembering that no matter what happens with the job I am loved which makes me a very lucky person
{{zzoozz}}
It was really good wasn't it zooz.
Oh it was very clever wasn't it zooz
Hello ((Ruby))
Hi everyone!
and zzoozz is very much loved!
It was a bloody classic..LOL
hi brookie
followed by sing along to take that, a perfect evening
Hello, Brookie :-)
Ah Brookie!!!!!
hi zooz!
And FM!
Hi Brookie :-)
And soodle!
I guess "good afternoon" to you all!
*cough*
I loved your speach - I have kept the link as it made me laugh out loud quite a few time. Well done girl!
lol sally
I GOT THE 13!!!!!!
And sally! :-)
yay, soodle!
Soodle, could you give me a clue for it?
:-)
So funny when you got up on the table.
Good going, soodle.
varumba fed it to me, two letters at a time this AM
feeling quite faint, hadn't noticed there was a 13
Thanks so much, FM! I'm running it in the background right now to artificially increase the # of hits. My goal was 200 by this weekend, but I'm falling a bit short. :-(
Italian for 400 gives the 12, then add an illegal S to make an illegal Italian plural for the 13.
Brookie, do the link again and I will visit it
OK so publish the link to this munch who I am sure will love it too!
Italian for 400 and Italian for middle (That may not be factually correct - but think along those lines)
*bunch not munch .. but whatever works :)
munch worked for me :-)
lol
Okay, will do. Thanks for clarifying "munch". I thought maybe my British English wasn't up to par.
What is this speech?
o munchkin, if you're short!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kr5fhmp _xP0
Happy to visit.
I have to say that this was Brookies 1st time out at speaking and she got 2nd place - and is so entertaining.
Will go and look now.
It was the Finals of the Toastmasters Humorous Speech competition.
The compliments make me happy :-)
Now need to look up 400 in Italian.
silence will fall in the chat as youtube viewing figs go up :)
thanks for the 12 and 13, good morning / afternoon everyone
{{mom}}
Good morning, mom!
((Ruby)), good afternoon
Brookie, good morning, I have marked your speech and will look at it in a bit
That's very nice of you!
it is nice of you to share the link, thanks
Ah, the 7AM Saturday before Thanksgiving grocery store run is complete. It's so nice to be one of three people in the store. Morning all.
Good morning Molly
It's for anyone to watch. I didn't win the competition, but I really worked hard on that speech; I'm happy to share my labor of love!
Wow, Molly, you are so efficient!
{{molly}}
And good morning to you!
I do have the turkey thawing in the refrigerator
Hi ruby!
I think Silver is quite an accomplishment.
I don't know about efficient, but I hate crowded stores. Mom, I'm getting my fresh turkey on Monday.
tell me about your various stuffings.....
Good point, Molly.
have fresh once
Silver is great Brooke. You were wonderful. Ruby, I only do traditional celery, onion , sage stuffing.
afternoon everyone!
Ruby, I make mine from stale white bread, onions, celery, salt, pepper, poultry seasoning and chicken broth
Hi Nancy!
((NB)) hello
do you add giblets? chestnuts?
The question is ... will you do it again Brookie?
and, of course, butter!!!!!
Hello, NB :-)
I enjoyed that, Brookie..LOL
the chicken broth has the neck and giblets cooked with it bit I don't chop them up and put them in the dressing and no, no chestnuts
((Zoozz)) hello
but*
Brookie that was great
Hello, (((MoM)))
my mother always added chestnuts and walnuts, but not too much
I use the giblet broth too Mom. And, of course, butter. No chestnuts here either.
Yes, FM. The question for me is, writing humor is a lot easier than writing something serious. It's hard for me to tap into my emotions. But I'm going to try for the more "serious" competition this spring.
Hi everyone. Brookie - I just listened to your speech. Brilliant! Loved it.
Thanks so much, Katie!
Thanks Jacula!
it is possible to buy cooked, plain chestnuts here, much better than cleaning them.....
although I did come across a stuffing recipe using White Castles minus the pickles
HI Jacula
hello jacula
Hello, jacula :-)
Hey Jacs!!!!
too funny, mom
Brookie - I just watched your speech. Utterly brilliant. And.....stick with the humour.....its a special talent to be able to make people laugh. Theres not enough of it about.
ditto, Soodle.
Just watched the speech, Brookie. Well done! And very funny it was too.
((Soodle)) hello and I agree
And Hi NB,Jac & Mom (((()))))
Thanks so much, Soodle! The humorous speech competition is every Fall, so I'll definitely do that. My dream, honestly, is to be a humorous speech writer. Not sure how to turn that dream into money, but it'll somehow happen!
mm know what you mean brook, I had to do a 7 min talk on a Dale Carnegie course that was on a serious subject.
72 words to find - got the 12 but not the 13 yet. have to go off to the shops now. BBL.
plural the 12 Jacula
You did the Dale Carnegie course? How was it?
Erm, Jac ....use the curly letter....
*sends fish to JAcs* just pl the 12!
great speech brookie, it is hard to be funny in front of people
Thanks ruby!
Mom - thanks! 71 left for later now. See you when I've braved the pre-Christmas crowds in the shops. Wish me luck!
guppy --> jacs
Good luck!
Oh it was great I did it once as a student and then was asked back to be an assocaite teacher.
good luck Jacula, glad you got the 13
wow, anyone who can perform any kind of speech has my respect. if I have to speak in public I freeze up!
good luck jacula I'm not sure I am up to it!
Hi NB!
It's easier to speak in front of strangers - you won't care so much about their opinion.
NB - I know it was ages ago but how did your trip to see your family go?
I can tell jokes, but not to my husband who raises an eyebrow
The worst lot I had to talkto were 90+ sales guys froma Co we had just taken over and I had to teach them the way we handled sales - that was a rough audience.
I'd rather not say if that's okay, Katie. Don't wanna talk/think about it!
Yikes, FM
sorry to bring it up {{{{hugs}}}}
FM - I'm thinking David Brent in The Office.......
I have to do a lot of training of our office and there are some who just don't care or want to know which I find hard
LOL and I had a hand held mike and a laptop for the powerpoint presentation - I don't think they saw me shaking too much.
computer guy is coming to help husband. Unfortunately, his mom comes with and I have to entertain her..... AAARGH
the hardest thing is looking positive and enthusiastic all the time lol
Oh that sounds like a slap a smile on occassion ruby
David Brent would have been a welcome break Soodle.
I'm the other way, Brookie - can speak in front of a group of friends (have given toasts before in varying degrees of intoxication) but couldn't talk in front of strangers!
hi, folks
Oh Lord, there is a 12 and a 13. *horrified look*
Brook that was wonderful! What great presence, wit, imagination! How did you get involved with doing this?
or keep her awash in g and t's
don't be scared, molly, just look up your Italian numbers
(a balmy -22C here, -7F)
Hey Moll ((()))
I do think strangers are easier, it's always the q&a sessions I dread, you never know what they will ask and it usually what you least want them to ask
Isn't she great Eva (I feel like Brooks ambasador).
Hello, Molly....Hello, Welki..thats sounds mighty cold :-(
Soodle, where are ya? : ) Italian numbers? Oy
I sat on a panel recently with 4 others for a half hour session and every question was for me - I think even the audience felt sorry for me by the end of it
Phone - back in a bit.
OMG welki! Would you like a warm puppy?
I'm think I would need to hibernate welki
Sorry, stepped away for a second... let me look at the chat log...
much better a warm bed, but i'm up for the day
you were probably the cutest one, katie, and they wanted to see you squirm
Right here Moll! C'mon......think 4 in Italian!
Molly, the 12 begins with a Q and is Italian for 400.
((Welki)) hello brrrr
one hour for a lie-down, then the hordes descend!
*poof*
Welki.......Your making me cold.....
bye ruby good luck
bye ((Ruby))
ty ty
Bon chance Rubes
To answer your question, Eva, I just joined a local Toastmasters club. The clubs give you a lot of leeway in terms of the types of speeches you can practice. Then several times a year Toastmasters has different speech contests.
Oh Soodle dear, you are so fit and trim I almost missed ya. : D
Molly, molly, molly....... Its clear that we are not on Babble-Vision!!!
helloooo every1
back for more ;)
Hello, Varumba :-)
Hi Varumba

Molly - this one is for you....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v= XbcYQvIhcLg
hi there brookie
Soodle, having to speak Italian before I'm done with my second cup of coffee makes everyone look thinner.
Children are climbing all over me... hard to type...
Have another cup, Moll - I'm feeling thinner already!
hi mom and everyone

Hello, Eva & Angel :-)
*Molly jigs around the kitchen*
Brings a wee tear to my eye. My Mom used to call me Molly-o.
Is anyone else hitting a roadblock with this grid? I'm stuck with 168 words left! (Didn't look at Lickety's list yet.)
just haad 92 left, and decided to list....

An italian number, esprit
but that's not the defo though../ this is just how we explain it ;)
bye bye Katie, have a good afternoon ((hugs))
Bye Katie.
Bye Katie!
maybe growing up in bensonhurst and bay ridge helped with the italian :)
its'; actually a noun used to describe the italian art of the 15th century
bye bye katie
my help with italian came in the form of english to italian translator :-)
as for cluing it, exactly what molly said :)
And the Italian for 300 is also in the grid.
oh tx sally! didnt'have that 1
Thanks, Sally! I wouldn't have looked for that!
now back to translator for 300
just replace the beg of the 12 with tre
Two words, add the plural again :-)
Don't make it too easy, varumba!
any1 got the first 2 ae? ae6/18 and ae7/32.... am very bad with the ae words

Yick. I better go and forage for food at the supermarket. Then come home and put it all away, the cook it, then clean up after it and on and on and on. Bye all - have a great day.

Hello all, can someone tell me how to brighten my computer sc6/21? I think it's something to do with the f8 key on the top row, but I can't remember which other key to depress ...
my brightness control is F1/F2 (but it's a mac) ... look for an icon of a sun
hello babblers..perhspa it is the alt key?
F7 has a sun and a downarrow (darken?), f8 has the sun and uparrow - but I can't remember the other key.
Christine, it depends on whether you are using Windows or a Mac and what system you are running.
I know it's windows, but after that it's all a mystery.
I know it's windows, but after that it's all a mystery.
oops! apparently i have accidentally hit the invisibility key while trying to find it
then i would try what owl said .. try the alt or the function key
Never mind, I'll just peer st the sc6/21. It happened once before, then corrected itself.
I guess tomorrow/today, I'll mdig ou the manual. Thanks for trying to help.
You can try going into My Computer and adjusting the settings from the Appearance function.
gotta scoot. ((hugs)) to all of you
Molly, where would I find My Computer? could it have another name, because I can't find it listed under any of the toolbar thingies.
bye, mom
'bye Mom
Hey TO et al.
hi fm
(()) how ya doing dear?
ok, and you?
did you find it, christine?
about the same, did you finish you cleaning episode?

lol and procrastination does help
but i threw away the travel section on england, i can rely on you lot to steer me in the right direction!
Oh you just come right on over and we will take care of you!!!!!!
and i have hung laundry already and found 27 words. not bad for being awake an hour and a half
207 words
It would be a blast. wtg - I chatted for an hour first things this morning and didn't find a single word.
i can only dream.
nothing wrong with dreaming - sometimes they come rue.
well i have not chatted till now.
There are pockets of happy chat and interesting chat depending on what time of day one is on.
But the grid goes on and constantly boggles us.
ok, scones baking :D
hey FM! wb!
oooo can I have one when they come out of the oven var ... please??!?!?!
oh my that was quick! what kind?
they've got sultanas in them too, is that ok?

yummy yum yum!
an yes, i've made 12, so i'd appreciate it if someone else than just me ate them ;)
**drool**
am not actually sure what fresh fruits sultanas are from owl!
Is everyone in the PB eating sc5's?
*Grabs a warm scone and gives Varumba a grateful hug*
What gives? Where are the police?

i''ll just take my sc5 with me then into the pb
who's with me?
Darn it - all off to the PB to party :)
lol
this chog is terrible for the waist, has any1 else noticed?
Now I'm having this hilarious mental image of what The Babble Police look like. Kinda dominatrix-y.
Yeah, and the cops were looking the other way!
LMAO
Kap you need to chill
oh oven already ringing?
The sultana (also called the sultanina) is a type of white, seedless grape of Turkish, Greek, South African or Iranian origin. In some countries, especially Commonwealth countries, it is also the name given to the raisin made from it; such sultana raisins are often called simply sultanas or sultanis. These are typically larger than Zante currants (which are actually a kind of dried grape, rather than true currants), but smaller than "normal" raisins. Sometimes, the name "sultana" is applied to all raisins, to the extent that the breakfast cereal known as Raisin Bran in the United States and most English speaking countries, is known as "Sultana Bran" in Australia

Couldn't you have baked MUFFINS?
i've made a lot of those int he past few weeks.....
There are muffins already in the PB KAp - go help yourself.
Kap, I'm a retired Catholic. I have also said five Hail Marys for my indiscretion.
babble is so educational
varumba, are you talking about my eyes? I'm right here. I can hear you you know.
:)
chill, they tell me. Hmmmph!
Sultanas: seedless, large-berried and light yellow. Larger than currants and smaller than raisins. Currants: seedless, small-berried, purple/black color. Their name derives from the Greek city of Corinth. Raisins on the bunch: seeded, large-berried, generally with stalk.
There may be no written rules but the 'spoken' ones have worked well and have also given much laughter and fun over the years.
Somebody said the other day that there was an unwritten rule - I can't remember what it was- so I went in search of the written rules
and found a dusty tome
more of a scroll, really
mmmmmm all fuming hot
oops sorry, TO, did not realise you had informed.
ty zooz, i am sure what we have are mere pale imitations - except i know we have currants
with Aramaic letters...
have put some butter and whipped cream on it :D
ah that would be Dr_G's copy of enable - not the rules!
It appeared to be at least 2000 years old
<<<<<<passes around the plate with steaming scones
This conversation has a vaguely psychotic air to it
yup that sounds about right for the enable word list.
thanks to me
wow, you have made them already, Var..nice one.

and i am still here because of tummy ache.
lolol
varumba, I thought ice cream, ate some and still don't get it??
awwwww sry to hear TO, hope you feel better soon
oh dear, sorry to hear that, TO
cornetto is what i read in zoom's cllue
gramma: their word for ice cream holder instead of co4/5 is like the trumpet like brass horn
it's a TO word tocornetto
to+ fishing *** + hey *Eacher leave them kids alone.
i think i should make some broth, but most probably must ride it out
have you been to the docs, TO?
TO, ty for completely dumbing that done for me. I was stumped.
how
zoom what in the world did you clue? a to6?
bout the very last re6/21?
i don't think that was dumbed down. i hate dumbed down clues, generally leave when they start to fly
VAr, a bit like a criminal check but with the `R` not the `V`
past tense of getting the water out of your linen?
having trouble with my caplock, sorry.
TO I didn't mean to insult your cluing. I was belittling myself.
no doctor. they tell you to ride it out, so i shall and be $20 richer for it
exactly. no beliettling allowed!
mmmm still in the dark here....
i was gonna say the same TO
or belittling! crossword clues are aacceptable and fun if they can be clever
Take care, All, bye.
bye zoooooooooooom
hag evening

re6/21

Still not seeing (or getting the clues for to 6/18) any further help please
it comes after to cut a sheet of paper again with hands (no cscissors)
which is opposite of grossed
to6/18 is more high brow
to8/18 = more than to4/4: a *** is 1000kgs : i would be happ*** if I could live near the sea
to 6 a mans name with a dif. last vowel + more so
i meant 6.18 of course n ot 8

yw
oh yea forgot the American thanksgiving is coming up fast! happy turkey day to my friends down south!
:o/ some of my words I had last night disappeared
first ta 6/18 plz?
you are prepping for Thanksgiving already?
I make the cranberry and the sweet potato concoction ahead of time because they taste better if the flavors set for a few days. Likewise the pumpkin bread, but that gets made tomorrow.
ta is 1 of those vowelly words. It is the ribbon like nerves in the brain
the ta7 is latin plural
i think i'm gonna need more words for that one, as i have no idea but for the start!
I hope that helps. I'm outta here.
pumpkin bread?...mmmmm
ta plus your en5 word minus the T
i looked it up gramm, but at least i knew what to look for, so ty :)
oh good. now off to the shower after a celebratory cigarette
and that's it for me! phew! well at least that kept me busy ;)

*rising

Hi soodle :o)
can I have stats/clue for e in 4th column and a in 5th column? Need these for nbt
the last one I have is to ca5 an event - provide food
yeah, that's pretty cryptic, dmf!

Need clues for qu12/13. Help!
i like katy,s cryptic clue better:))
4 pennies in italian kenny
ty ruru
144 points on 1 word...sweet..
What? Does everyone here except me speak Italian?
plural it for 170 points, Crossy!
hi everyone
yaaa! 170 points!
((mom)
Hi Mom. Just got done making an awesome batch of cranberry sauce.
((Crossy))
you are a better girl than I am Molly and hello
crossy love cranberry jelly..does not like crunching on the whole berry kind:/
qu12/144 (cryptic:) four hundred crouch headlessly, retakes decay with a penny makes one directionless
<--- has all of the Ra's now
No "jell" in this stuff Cross, it's strictly sauce. With some orange rind and a good bit of sugar.
It's sad. I know what qu12 is, and I still don't understand that cryptic clue.
the first part of the qu 12 is four in Italian.. tha last part is penny
but it refers to and age in time in Italy
aww.... maybe this might help? Four hundred crouch headlessly (5 - 1) retakes decay (3) + penny (4) make one "direction"-less (1)
"retake" is a keyword for anagram
:o( did I scare everyone away?
still here not getting the clue
can you give a cryptic clue with an answer- one not in the grid. i have the word you are clueing, and i cant follow. I've never done cryptics and would like to learn
morning all
Nothing about the cryptics is sinking in with me. I am enjoying listening to Adam Sandler singing The Turkey Song though. Hey M9.
yeah, I got it too, but your crypticism is still rather cryptic
That's because one person's "cryptic" is another person's "stupid."
excellent clue, ru - thanks
hmm, need a word to make a clue... :o/
when it comes to cryptics i am always stupid : )
preferably a long one
how about enclosure?
All you need is the online Italian dictionary and words for 4 and 100...
te 6/21 # 1 please
just started - that qu12 was my first - no help here, sorry
first one i have sounds like the net and racket game ru
thank you beth
I was all around that one
yvw :)
final lap
have 40 left here, trying not to list, don't think it will work
go go ruru!!
246 left here
woohoo
gooooo je
* kje
(cryptic) Northbound in European Community, fringe washroom is certain to fence in (9)
ok, now explain it please : )
* I am going in without you kje.. i can't wait that long*
I guess I'm "stupid" then.
Northbound is often abbreviated "N", European Community is often abbreviated "EC" so "Northbound *in* European Community" = ENC "washroom" = "loo", and its "fringe" letters are "L" and "O" "is certain" = "sure" "to fence in" is a definition clue
done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
down to 201 - does that change your mind? LOL
WOOOOOHOOOOO RUUUUUUUU!
congrats ruru :o)
there is a whole language of sorts to learn
WAHOO ru!!!
Way to go Ruru!
those c's almost killed me
YAY ruru!!!!
we would never let them take you without a fight, ru
yeah, doing your first few cryptic reads is hard... when reading try to separate what seem to be the separate parts of the clue :o)
yeah, doing your first few cryptic reads is hard... when reading try to separate what seem to be the separate parts of the clue :o)
yeah.. sometimes you have to look at them twice!LOL
From yesterday's grid: (Cryptic) spear thrower doubles Aztec god tail (6)
did someone teach you? I imagine the clues are different from country to country, loo is not common usage here. not unheard of, just not common
'loo' isn't common here either, but it seems to be in the UK
spear thrower clone in middle of frasier's hometown?
oh wait.. that's not his hometown. his city.
who is Frasier?
I've been doing / writing cryptics for just nine months :o) weekly First month was hard, but then it got easier
that one i understood. is the placement of the definition word always in the same place? or is there not always a definition phrase
yeah.. you have to know that television show.LOL
There's almost always a definition phrase. Otherwise it's a bad clue ;o)
That's why I get bored with the larger grids. I just don't have it in me to find over 50 c words.
dfm puts definition at beginning and end at least.
where are you dfm?
or end I should say
Ottawa
br rrrr
m9 yeah, usually the definition is separate from the rest of the clue, always helpful to isolate one or two possible definitions
170 - break time - bbiab
hehe, I have the window wide open... :o/ and am wearing a t-shirt and shorts...
Frasier is a spin-off from Cheers.. about a psychoanalyst in Seattle, which now that I look at it typed out doesn't have an atl in it!ROFL!
menopause? :)
I don't even know if dfm is male or female. maybe manopause...LOL
as if, beth, I'm not even the right age. Or gender, I think. ;o)
ah.. that's what I guessed though.
maybe its manopause
we need a profile dfm, no more witness protection for you
too late on that one ru!
oooh a twelve and 13 letter word. don't think i've ever seen a 13
i worry if we ever met in person ru.LOL
If I were a girl I'd probably have had my first period within this year... late puberty... :o( (i'm nineteen! And late sucks :o( makes all this change worse)
but you will like it when you look so much younger than everyone else dfm
A clue for re7,32 please? Non-cryptic...
to take back testimony pl
oops -- the other one please!
play a civil war battle again
:oO "like it"? Wouldn't I have to worry about flatchestedness? (no offense but I don't understand why most females are so captivated by the size of their secondary sexual feature...)
19! no wonder you still remember so much from class!LOL
i don't mean as a girl, dfm, i meant as a person, you will probably look more youthful, than other people longer
(or, really, male fascination to same characteristic, but that's a different story :o/)
and I don't think that's secondary either.
LOL
as far as cup size, just as it suck to be late, it sucks to be different when so much emphasis is placed on sexuality it the media and entertainment. Girls may understand intellectualy that it is not their bra size that matters, but when clothes don't fit, and boys aren't interested in them, the intellect doesn't enter in to it
<-- hung around primarily with girls (and teachers) until the age of seventeen and *still* doesn't really understand why most boys in class thought I'm strange...
adolescence is the pits
don't even get me started on the clothing industry!!!!!
Hello.
hello
hey cgw :o)
:D
qu12+13 today cgw :oO
yes.. hard to come through adolescence with your dignity in6. Much easier if homeschooled!
Really? D;
D:*
my 29 yr old daughter @ 6 ft tall, and weighs @ 125 lbs. She is beautiful, and not anorexic, super fast metabolism. buying clothes is a nightmare
oh beth, I bet!
do you sew?
does she?
we went christmas shopping last week. I thought i would require medically induced coma by the end
why are girls so much more susceptible (and targetted) to/by the media? o.o wait, never mind, guys probably are too, just not as noticeable...
ha.. just look at all the haircuts on the guys at school.....
i sew enough to make cute halloween costumes, not wearable clothing for a grownup :/
Hello babble buddies!
Hello. :)
<insert salutation directed at jilly here>
remember,we have to all be 6 foot 4,wide shouldered,a 6 pack for abs and make a million a year...no pressure at all;)
adolescent boys tend to run toward "you cant make me wear that, I like this" and girls like them anyway
you may have better luck online: http://tinyurl.com/285lckp
six foot four? o.0 Isn't that... like... almost two metres?
describes you to a T crossy! right?
lol dfmchfhf!!
my first boyfriend was 6'4".
makes me feel so short... not that I'm not already... -.-
err..yes m9..that right...
Crossy!! (((hugs))) It's snowing here!! Yipee....
she does some online shopping, but until she has actually tried on a mfg, there are a lot of returns involved. What works for one tall thin girl, does not always work on the next. I keep trying
im a a mere 6 ft,so alas i do not make the grade
(wonders if dfm is same height as own 19 yo)
<-- barely a metre and a half... shorter than even most girls in class... :o(
my husband is 6'4"
guys in my family run around 5' 10"
My friend's brother is 14 and is already 6 feet tall.
if you had a delayed puberty, dfm, you may still grow. one of my very close friends graduated highschool at about 5'3". at our reunion he was 5'11"
and 5' 10" seems to be the average looking online
((jilly)) snow loses its appeal quite fast up here
we're having talk of snow.
i pity his mom, he must grow out of clothes every month
yup. my husband said our son still has some growing years coming..
yeah, when you have a metre dumped in front of your door and need to go to work/school at 0600h... >.>
Well, if we are going to have zero and below zero temps....it had better have snow with it!! LOL
when's yer bday dfm?
<mathtorture>exact middle of a non leap year</mathtorture> ;oP
*diving into c words*....*sigh*
Ugh, these q words are driving me crazy. I only have 1. D:
"diving"? o.0 how many are there? (I have 29, thought that was it...)
saving last 37 for later, nice chatting with you all
ah but were you born at NOON on July 2nd?
bye beth :o)
bye beth
There are 35 for one c and 18 for the other.
if you change time zones around a bit, yeah m9 ;o)
by bethn
cute.
well, off by 18 minutes.
just don't start singing jimmy buffett..
singing what?
Changes in latitude, changes in longitude.
Or something like that, amirite?
wasting away again in margeritaville..searching for my lost shaker of salt...oh there it is!
<-- knowledge of music ends in the 1850s, with the exception of some piano pieces
Haha, nice. xD
I was thinking "it's five o'clock somewhere"...
Lol oh. xD
didn't want to miss out on Bartok eh?
crossy< used to be a parrothead
no Greenday? No Muse?
my son listens to green day i think
No Stones, Beatles....
Greenday is awesome. :3
never even heard of them.
No Styx, either? D:
you do not listen to radio dfm?
strictly baroque -- no mainstream opera either... sad
well, "Beatles" yes, but the game in which I first heard of them appended an extra 's' ;o)
radio? Yes, the classical music ones
no elvis, sinatra,
bobby darrin
oh, but I play DJMAX, so I at least know a *bit* of modern music...
you have not heard one single song made after 1900?
let's also say that the first time I've heard about Michael Jackson was the day he died? o.o
WHAT
lol, just get out of jail after a long term?
Verdi was writing by 1850.. so it's not all neccessarily ruled out....?
you live in ottawa so you can listen to the CBC ... late night Friday's on Radio 2 ... Burton Cummings will catch you up ..
I've probably *heard* some songs but have no idea what they are... playing rhythm games and don't know the music (probably am one of the few people who play RockBand with the TV/speakers on MUTE o.0)
facinating, you must have no television in the house either
75 words, got the q's, nbt...time for a break!!
D: I neeeeed the q words! D:
no TV up here in Ottawa, I'm going back home in a month anyways (co-op work term)
wow. no meatloaf's bat out of hell.....
LOL
just a harsichord and classical vynal records

qu6/27, qu5/16, qu5/16, qu12/144, qu13/170
damn typos
he's online! he's got youtube!!
Ugh, thanks dfm. I'm never gonna get that 12 and 13. D:

i know erda, some days i just give up
qu6/27 archaic inquiry
qu5/12 strange
dont bother spell checking me on my bad days just interpet
"interpet" ???
Thanks, dfm. :)
qu5/12 no idea what this one means
its on erda,i have a dictionary
ok
qu12/144, qu13/170pl. 1400-1500, means 400 in Italian
That's ok, I already have qu5. Somehow. xD
anyways time for me to be off for a bit i think.tc all and happy babbling...poof!
now listening to Pavarotti "No, pagliaccio non son". Just had to get modern!
bye crossy :o)
Bye.
gonna go make lunch (at 1340h!), will only be here-ish
bye crossy!
Ugh I'm failing miserably at finding qu6/27. :|
same as the first qu5/16 just add an `E` third from last.
insert a vowel in the word that comes after
start by falling
hey zooz!
Oooooh thanks, zoom. :D
Hello, All..have finished, just popping in while adverts are on tv..lol
Yw Cgw8 :-)
You're finished? D:
yep finished a while ago :-)
Ugh, I have 197 words left. xD
You will get there, Cgw8, i am sure.
hi zooz!
Hello, DFM :-)
Lol I'll be happy if I can just get all the q's. Specifically qu12 and 13. Then I'd be happy. xD
put this in google and it is the fourth one down.
the 15th century, used in reference to the Italian art and literature of that time.
start by falling?? oh I get it
qu12/144 (cryptic:) four hundred crouch headlessly, retakes decay with a penny makes one directionless
mmmm...last night
's leftovers
Omg, thanks zoom and dfm. :D
bubble & squeak.
Yw Cgw8
"thanks" :oP did you even understand my clue?
nummy. I LOVE bubble and squeak!
Well...no. But I still figured I should thank you anyway. 'Cause it sounds pretty darn cool. xD
but right now it's celery, carrots, brussel sprouts and chicken with garlic and ponzu
So did i, have not had that for years, M9 :-)
But now that I know the word, your clue makes sense. :D
Hey everybody... I am ducking in and out - very dodgy internet connection this evening.
<-- is a horrible cryptic writer, usually doesn't make it to his school's puzzles :o(
Hello, Soodle :-)
xD

Speaking of HP, we went and saw the EXHIBITION yesterday in Seattle ---- AMAZING.
Any particular reason you started today, after a year, Zooz (I'm just curious....)
Going to see the movie tomorrow!
Ooh, I went to the HP theme park in Orlando over the summer! It was brilliant.
going to wait until it's on dvd!!
From all the movies, props, costumes, artifacts, sets, displays, etc. Wow!
What really struck me is how TINY all the actors really are -- even the adults are very small, except for Hagrid of course.
That sounds really cool, ch, I wish I could see it. :(
Well, I wish I could go see the theme park, cgw :)

Bye M9, and Hello Jilly :-)
bye m9 :o)
Back to tackle some more words... hi everyone!
Hi Brookie :-)
Hi soodle!
Once I get halfway through this list, I'll allow myself to look at Lickety's list. Almost there...
this one isn't bad, I'm at 46 to go without Lickety's.
Have you reached your target on YouTube yet, Brookie?
Really close. At 196 hits. :-)
I don't know why this is important to me. In the scheme of things, it's awfully trivial.
C's crushed!!
Post the link again.... I'm sure there are people on now who haven't seen it. And.....as its feel-good viewing, you will be doing them a favour!
Well, if you insist...
watched what? :oO
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kr5fhmp _xP0
YES....I'll go on...I've been away from babble for 3 days
I am not Brookie's publicist, but I urge everybody to watch this....... Feel-good viewing!!!!
Oh, I will sooo hire you to be my publicist!
(Brookie - you can put the cheque in the post....)
And I'll promote that everyone reads the cool list on Soodle's profile.
Will do. Will address it to Soodlebum. Hopefully it'll get to you.
Soodlebum, Ireland. That should do it!
clue for the an5?
good morning everyone -- a weekend whopper I see
Good morning, cybernan!
Don't have the an5, sorry.

A and not far, Cos. And hi Nan :-)

Thanks!
nice speech Brookie...I laughed while consumer football game watching food!
Thanks jilly!
hi all
Hi jmc!
Hi JMC - did you make a decision on the outfit?
brb
no not yet I need to pass it on to the Quakers
brookie is there a reason you want a particular number of hits on your speech?
Unexplainable. Maybe to justify all the time and energy I put into writing it. Or ego issues?
How have you been, jmc?
a bit harried but okay
my housekeeper cleaned up my office which she is not suppose to do and I can find a $$$$$ check
I am sure it will turn up but it is driving me nuts
You can't find it?
not yet
I don't like it either when people slightly rearrange my stuff. Hard to find things.
it is fine in the rest of the house but I put client and my stuff in separate piles and then I came home and it was all stacked neatly in three different places
Good intentions gone awry.
indeed
Gotta go now. I hope to be back later this evening to finish up the grid. Enjoy your day, everyone! (poof)
it is, alas, one of the reasons I told her she would not have a job in the new year
i felt bad but she really does not do a good cleaning job and all my clothes are stained and there are cobwebs everywhere
what does the 12/13 start with?
Qu
i lucked out. i monkeyed it on the first try today :P
same ending as tr8/9
qu? ack!
the ce5/12 and 6/21 is the ending of the qu 12/13
lol a lot of information but it wil take a me a wihle to ferret it out
lol yeah sorry i shld have kept it simple
is there only one ce5/12 because I have that then
I got both qu12/13 on my own and ruru took my babble training wheels off!! lol
2 ce 5/12s but its the first one
both the ce 5/12's I have are plurals
oops
3 ce 5/12s
the first one is the one u want for the 13
lucky you jiily! did he keep one hand on the back of the bike just in case?
cybernan, money with a vowel on the end
well that explains my problem
teehee
then there are 3 ce 5/12's
yes
but how you get there from the qu is beyond me!
well its the last 5 letters of the qu
so there u have 7 out of 12 letters you need lol
i need a clue for the last ca 6/21 please?
this should be doable since we have the first 3 letters and the last 5 so we are only missing 4!
think shaving razor brand for the first 5 letters
It sounds like an Italian counting
er i buy very few shaving razors
hi lynxxx! *waves*
but theyre adversited on tv quite a bit lol

Oh sorry Cos, I thought you had gotten pre-paid tickets.
ah no.. didnt get paid til friday and by then it was too late
I like New York anytime. Only ever been there once, but, wow! I had a blast!
I don't know about a Bette Midler movie, but Richard Dreyfuss sings it to Marsha Mason in "The Goodbye Girl" in possibly the most romantic film scene ever. Dancing in the rain on the roof of a New York apartment building.
I hate my job... I hate shopping... I hate New York in June. How about you?
I hate men who smell like beer and bean dip... and makin' love in the back of recreational vehicles!
my son went to see Harry Potter today and he said it really sets the scene for the final film
a bette midler/lily tomlin conversation .. it always makes me laugh
beer and bean dip - there's a combo to put anyone off
they play twins who were mixed up at birth. its a hilarious movie
beer and pickled onions is worse
beer, brats and kraut....
BBL
cya lyn
by linx!
I like a Gershwin tune...how about you? I like a fireside when a storm is due. I like potato chips, moonlight and motor trips, how about you?

TNana...12 and 13 are 400 and 400's in...wait for it...Italian.
i now have 95 left and havent listed yet - so i am quite pleased with myself
well good for you smarty pants!
the first qu?
qu12/144 (cryptic:) four hundred crouch headlessly, retakes decay with a penny makes one directionless
your cryptic clues are too obscure for me dfm
For the simple minded...qu 12/144...four in spanish, double the cross letter + a penny is one **** + *h, I wish these grids were easier
lovely lovely word - got it from the itailian clue - thanks
qu + 5 letters + ce5/12 (the first one)
lol -- wish I could kazzer
What Nan? Don't you speak Italian fluently like the rest of them? Me neither.
me neither.. i monkeyed it.. i had a heart attack when it worked lol
italian for 4 or a very old audi car
plus the dollars and **** plus another vowel to make it sound italian again plus plural for 13
Oh my.... will the R's ever end?
I'm starting the Rs now
The Cs are worse, I think, if you don't count the REs...
there are more cs though
hi all
Hi TC
Too many c's and r's in this grid. Enough is enough.
Hi Tea!
ooh i have 18 c's and 18 r's to find

The easy way: remove the H key from your keyboard ;o)

It was JMC who stole your choclits Stid. I am the tattle tale.
but that's okay because when my internet connection died I restocked!
lol
o.o that's a lot of T. And tea. mmm, tea.
grrr there needs to be an extra R so i can use record
oh! I am WAY past halfway! down to 128~
cos re7 + re9 re9/66 (cryptic:) A stick rises to the top of a tree in the grass shows on stage
the last re7/32 anyone?
I should probably get another 5 sources annotated, and then I am actually "at" the mark that the faculty set. Then I can spend time tomorrow or this evening refining and adding on.
and re7 is root of re9
(oh, and pretend you somehow know that the clue is for vertical...)
hm....
while she sailed down the ole miss... lol
idk dfm :)
hmmmm
Could somebody please remind me why I am so addicted to Babble? I am flustrated right now (Flustrated is a mix of frustrated and flustered, for the record)
decan t
because u get that feeling when you get fireworks and you go.. damn i'm good!

You know, I tried middle school youth ministry...NOT my age group..you have my respects stid!
Flustrated...it's like muttmering...a combination of muttering and murmuring.
i am a giver
i used to teach sunday school to middle schoolers... wow...

I admire anyone who can teach a room full of hormones.

Probably Rs or Ss...
The teens are just home after attending a march in Dublin. Were they protesting about the state of the Irish economy? About World Peace? Nope....It was a 'Bring Justin Bieber to Ireland' march. Sheesh.
a whaa? o.0
first ca 5, please?
silly what drives teens these days... it's all about the entertainment... having fun...
My sentiments entirely, DFM!
nan ca5/14 part of the digestive tract
Used to digest mostly fibrous material
48 r's, 42 s's
no idea - not a doctor, nor a nurse
brb i have to refresh.. the grid says i have two more R words while the list is only showing 1 more

Oh, Lovely clue, Diane. I had completely forgotten about Suzi....
oh dear -- don't know any rock singers either -- have never listened to rock music
erm, *anagram of atmospheric unit. -.-
glad it helped soodle ...
qu12 s.... to crouch + ... anagram of decay + .... $0.01 + vowel
qu + first vowel + two crosses + letter + 4th vowel + ce5/10 (the first one)
There, a NORMAL clue... <.<
then plural it for the 13
ty very much -- I swear I tried that!
:oO found (i.e. monkeyed) 3 more Rs...
2 left x.x 1 R and 1 not-C,Q,R,S,T
I think we should all try to persuade Dr. G. to switch to a dictionary that does not use foreign words -- this is getting ridiculous. I think there must be as much latin as english in this one!
so... many... 6-letter RA monkeying possibilities... x.x
I can't see any ca 5/12 that fits in following dialects
-- oops yess I do -- and those being a girls best friend
dialects? o.0
Hello, Fellow Babblers. How are you all today? And how is the grid?
painful nef
very tough for me nef
I guess it is ok if you know latin
and belong to mensa
2 words to go without listing, trying to monkey a final R
lol nan!
ok 50 left.. gonna lie down and watch tv for a bit
hey, how does knowing Latin help? o.0
I would just like to finish the c's before I go and make another batch of shorbread
Okay; I won't start. I've had my grandson since last evening and he's napping right now. I'm already too tired (from keeping up with an 18 month old) so know I can't stay up late tomight
Hi Nef!! Grid pretty twisty today...
Hi Jilly. How'd your hubby's test go?
Darn! I see so many easy words; maybe I'll start for just a few words.... (I'm always so tempted...)
Nef then you run into the problem of finding the qu12+13
i think ill start working on my book today
oh-oh.
cos is a writer?
i used to write alot in the past. havent for years but i just got an idea for abook the last few days and some babblers have been encouraging me to write it
even though it is most likely illegal forme to publish it.. ill just write it for fun
(BTW, my "Oh-oh" was related to the qu 12 -13 that dfm mentioned. I'm now LOOKING for them!)
Why illegal? :o(
because it will be an unauthorized biography of dolores umbridge
st
Ooops... sorry
fanfic isn't illegal, is it? :o/
it is if JK rowling has a copyright
i mean i can write it but not sell it
besides i love jo rowling i would never try to profit from her lol
clue for the first ta6/18?

ta6/18 can be a tapeworm

Back to try and finish this grid. Good evening, everyone!
congrats to you Brookie on your Silver Medal. will listen to your speech later.
Thanks so much. How have you been doing, peri?
I am doing just fine, Brookie, and you?
25
Brookie wish you could have been at the babble meetup in Phila in Sept.
And I wish my head hadn't been in the sand in September... I totally would have attended! How was it? Who was there?
aarrggh this R is proving difficult to monkey :o(
Cos...this Babbler is still encouraging you to write. Do it. It could be an amazing amount of fun.
It was great, me, marigold, jmnrick, dcscaein, nrki, pam, hego and her husband. it was at a nice Italian restaurant in center city with free parking
stuck on the second ce 6/21 help??
FREE PARKING??? Amazing!
next time, Brookie
plural of ce5 before it sammy
Just looking at the chat log earlier... write, write, cos!
I was so surpised re the parking. they gave us a parking pass to give the attendant. totally unheard of in center city. and the food was very good too. LaScala's Italian Restaurant 7th and Chestnut
i will! Ill be posting chapters on my profile here too
I am drinking tea with apricot brandy in it :)
oh my!!!! qu 12 and 13 .... never even seen a word that long LOL
me neither cw
Last time I went to Center City and parked a car for free, the car was towed. (Actually, my dad was driving.) We totally didn't see the "tow away zone" signs. (Facepalm)
this was in a garage in the building where the restaurant was
peri, that tea sound delish!
Gotcha. Will note LaScala. Will be in Center City around Thanksgiving weekend.
I added the brandy :)

I have a John O'Donohue walking tour of Ireland DVD and it looks just like the magical country of my roots that I have always imagined.
Brookie.... thats the actual castle. I pass it every day of my life.

29 to go, and losing the will to live......
The Pope brought the Catholic Church into the 1980's this weekend btw.
He now says it is ok to use condoms lol
WHAT?! For real? Seriously? I had not heard!
Only to prevent AIDs though.
http://www.thestar.com/news/world/arti cle/894235--pope-says-condoms-ok-to-us e-in-some-cases?utm_medium=twitter&utm _source=twitterfeed
Really?! WOW. Okay, I have to check this out (brb)
Jeepers, didn't hear that Cos. Could that be deemed "Too little, too late" do you think?
lol yes.. like i said,, he brought the church to the 1980s
American kids...get in the Thanksgiving spirit with Adam Sandler's Turkey song...http://www.hulu.com/watch/11096 2/saturday-night-live-update-sandler-t hanksgiving-song
Get in the Thanksgiving spirit by watching the greatest Thanksgiving movie ever! Planes Trains and Automobiles.. especially the scene at the car rental place with the so talented Edie McClurg
That was an awesome movie.
John Candy.....absolutely superb!
I love Canada for giving us John Candy
May he rest in peace.
Agreed.
The best part of "Planes, Trains, And Automobiles" was FLINTTONES, MEET THE FLINTSTONES, THEY'RE A MODERN STONE AGE FAMILY!
(returns shaking her head) Ooookkkkkaaay. Ah, John Candy -- yes, wonderful.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n3a7ATw S6-A&NR=1
Why are you shaking your head ch? We're just having fun.
ch12 is shaking her head at the Pope
is there anybody here?
is there anybody here?
well, cheers to this pope...
hi kalia.
Hi kalia!
We have power again - was out for 13 hours
oh wow flosey, thats a long time...
now, maybe I can finish this grid
Oh Molly, just read the Pope's statements regarding condems. Apparently a "first step" and okay for preventing infection among male prositutes. No word on female prostitutes, or anyone for whom (as the Pope explained) "for whom contraception is not an issue." ................ Sorry. Venting. LEt's not even get started. ......
Welcome back to electricity!
ty Brookie, was it ever quiet here!
lol agreed... it's a first step but.. he isn't in t he 2010's yet. hes still 30 years behind
I guess in a way, I'm grateful for even this tiny step. Glad your electricity is back!
As a non-Catholic,I guess it is less of an issue for me..
I'll bbl. Gonna take a shower lol. Lazy Saturday.
I must have missed a chapter in Catholic-icty. I thought all sex had to be initiated with regard to procreation. So any kind of birth control (condems) was a no-no.
bye, cos. Thanks for the news update.
Oh my. Speaking as an irish Catholic (who has seen all the abuse cases). I can only shake my head and despair.
anyone here?
hello my dear babble friends
Molly, my understanding is that part of Vatican II changed the focus slightly. Procreation is certainly still a reason for sex between married people, but the number one reason now is ... (can't recall the wording) but basically partnership, comfort for the two.
The 'churches' desire to have procreation as a 'good thing' was to help grow the church during the centuries of 'absolute control' -- and the church has never left that ideology, even after population explosions--boils down to you can't breed religion, as it is really a choice, or not
(((Trif)))))
Well put, shadow.
OH wow,
OH wow,
hello soodle!
Shadow...you are so right.
How is your MIL, Trif?
testify Shadow!
trif, I had no idea MIL was ill?
thank you so much for asking, soodle! last update was she had "rallied" a bit, and was eating on her own, at least a little, but that was a few days ago now. Really, at this point a quick end would be most merciful. She has not known who she was for YEARS, nor anyone else, but until recently was perfectly happy. Now that her body is breaking down, it's less of a happy life for her
soodle, is there an airport in belfast, and, if so, is it a big deal to fly in there, and then drive south?
Oh Trif, I am sorry to hear that. Long drawn out painful things are very unpleasant.
and stressful..
interestingly, all religions have a similar moralistic base ]10 commandment philosophy] as didid the ancient religions--the manipulation of and control for, or against these, have as well, been archaic at times ['thou shalt' not kill' -- except to kill the infidel, and oh, by the way to the Holy Land, it's ok to kill anyone else, because 'god will seperate them out']...etc, etc. etc..
((((Trif and Family))) so sorry to hear about this.
thanks red.
this si true, though I was recently excused form Jury duty for being a Quaker. I dont know but I am guessing it was a death penatly type of trial...
thanks molly. she isn't my mil anymore, of course, but she is still my children's "gran" and they will feel the loss of her keenly. Primo more than the others, as he knew her before she was truly ill and lost to us
Yes -Trif....Belfast International Airport caters for transatlantic flights. And. obivoulsy, would be a heck of a lot handier for you to transfer to Cavan.
Yes, I agree.
transfer to cavan? like fly, or just drive?
hey all!
Blessings to your kids Trif. It's hard to lose a Gran. I'm glad they got to know her, each in their own way.
oh, and news from the cinema front -- two of my kids have seen Harry Potter, and said it was EXCELLENT, but they both cried buckets.
at last fireworks - off to bed - see you tomorrow
thanks molly. I did love her, but seriously, she has been gone for years. Alzheimers SUCKS
well, that is great news, I skipped last years HP as it got such sukky reviews. but this time I gotta go...
Indeed it does ..
huzzah for kazzer! (that was fun to type!)
(((((((((((((((((((TOR)))))))))))))))) ))
YAY kazzer!
hery tor! ((hugs))
thnk u see u tmorrow
I lost my Dad to Alzheimers. I know the drill. Nice thing about my Dad...he never forgot how to pray or say "I love you" to his girls and wife.
My Grandma had terrible alzeheimers that caused anxiety. the wrost part of it was the year after Grandpa died. She remembered anew each day that he had died. It was so stressful to see her so sad.
Stid, did you finish?
no, 109 to go
But, Trif.... I would be very happy to meet you in Belfast or Dublin and take you to Cavan. Jeepers...It wouldnn't take me more than half a day... and I would get to meet you! (I'm not joking here....a genuine offer!)
Your school stuff?
Red, that is a sad story. If someone has to have Alzheimer's, that is one day they should forget.
red, my mil forgot she was married. her lovely husband died, and within a week she had forgotten all about him, which gutted everyone else
soodle, you ROCK. Do I have your email address?
well, here's mine anyway - trifioso@comcast.net
Heyas kids ..
how far are you from belfast airport?
medickinson@eircom.net. My cell phone is 0035386 85 99916.
Yes, it bothered me that she had to remember that each day, but on a good note, my cousin lived with her and she died at home, same as Grandpa.
yes, and I really can't finish big grids without lickety -- and tried to use lickety the other night (actually managed to do it) but the print was so small that I ended up with a migraine after only 20 minutes. The mac just works better for my eyes
oooh lets all Prank call Soodle now!!!!
SOODLES! YOU DID NOT JUST POST THAT TO THE LOG?!?
Bless our loved ones on the other side. I know they are shining down on us.
she did!
*very amazingly stern mama look*
have saved both, soodle, and thanks! you would be seriously helping me out. It's SO AWKWARD to think about asking the family....
I'm having 500 pizzas delivered to the Soodle house. Heeee!
mmmm. pizza. will be there in about 16 hours soodles... LOL
Laughing, thinking about phoning to say "hello, may I speak to soodle please?"
Trif..... I would be Soooo happy to meet you, even tho it would be sad circumstances. The offer stands... whenever.
*delivery of 300 squirming puppies to soodle house imminent*
If you all prank Soodle after she offered to help me when my mother in law dies I will personally hunt all you down and egg your homes, and let the air out of your tires and other dreadful things. BEHAVE
Erm... Soodle - AKA Mary!
Suddenly, the phone lines to Aer Lingus are all busy.
thanks soodle. I will seriously be taking you up on it!
but but but -- thought soodles LIKED pizza and puppies?
ooooh puppies! what of strippers?
Nope. I am calling and asking for soodle. It just MUST happen! :)
Mother missed seeing Soodle when she was in Ireland -- the tour they were on kept them SO busy.
back again -- double batch of shortbread cooling in the fridge :)
hey nan! we're all going to soodles for pizza... LOL
Sorry, can't reply. Working my way through 1050 pizzas.....
soodle, look away for a minute....
DAMN! Don't mess with Trif! * hiding*
rofl....
Eyes shut tight....
someday. I want to take a vacation.
you guys, TRUST me - I have had the pizza in Ireland. don't. Just.....don't. Go for a guinness, or the fish, or whatever, but the pizza? just....no.
Can I look now?
yes dear.
oh, okay trifioso... but can I go to play with soodles puppies?
yes. that you CAN do
soodle sure has a lot of it now.
Re-odering. Ten cases of Jameson, ten cases of Guiness and ten pounds of fresh salmon to be delivered to the Soodle house. Better?
oh, I have to admit something dreadful. Having the extra doggies here has shown me how much diggity would love a little dog friend.
mmm -- pizza -- sounds good to me
Now your talking, Molly......
okie dokie! *puts chew toys in suitcase*
so I went on petfinder.com.....what a HUGE mistake! every photo is more appealing than the next. There is a SERIOUSLY cute Irish Wolfhound that I would take in a new york minute....
he even has a cool name - "Liam"
trif you may have my Teulu, he is cute but keeps eating something that is giving him a lot of diarrhea. no fun.
how big is your house trifioso? because Irish Wolfhounds are HUGE!!!
like, as in, as big as tom's little hyundai car

Hey Peri.
my dear friend and former neighbor lost one of hers recently -- a huge loss in every way
speaking of mondo dogs, I just got back from helping transport 2 rescue dogs originating at a puppy mill in Arkansas - one, Max, was a very sweet 90 lb yellow lab mix! :-)

mom, i used to iron my dad's handkerchiefs, and all the sheets and pillowcases! LOL
hey ruru!
Hi Ruru
Honestly, I think I would rather iron than do this monster grid. Rats.
oohhh, shirts might be too hard!
I like ironing, but I am not fond of setting up the board and finding the iron and ...
I iron pillowcases and hankies but not bed sheets
I USED to -- not now! :-)
PEOPLE IRON BED SHEETS???? LORD!!!!
I'll iron Ruru shirts .... how many creases do you want in your sleeves?
just one.
yes, my mother in law even ironed towels and shoelaces
molly, this was back when they were all 100% cotton and VERY wrinkled
no sense of adventure Ruru

Hows the weather now, Welki?
I think you meant "gorgeous, talented Soodle" dear
freezing with more snow in the forecast
Hi ruru and welki
grapes are not sexy - things shaped like grapes are usually pathologic... can't get into that
have to release the hounds....brb
hi boo.. good to see you
Forgot to say hi to Boo. HI BOO.
yes I have been away
oooh kje does not have a pathology fetish...
i wasn't thinking that he should wear them as body jewelry, kje, but more as things that are already there (and healthy)
Hi molly
bad path on service right now... nothing fungating or grape like wanted
I ain't toting plums welki
I think comparing ru's parts to grapes might be insulting him a tad - LOLOL
Ruru...large fig leaf...all that's necessary. Enough said. : D
Tsk. Of course. Thank you for pointing that out, Trif.
*shrug* good thing, ru ... tight tidy whities if you did
two fig leaves
wow im all pruned up i passed out in the tub
hello sounds like an interesting chat going on tonight!
That's what I meant. Two fig leaves. Maybe three. : )
Cosdem....Too Much Information!!!!!

Yes I'm sure you would never do anything like that..wink, wink...;o)

Are you in your flannels, shriveled one?

wait, it is a man, right? not sure which team you bat for, now that I think of it....whatevs. I don't judge
(how can you shred your knuckles peeling grapes? this has got to be good)
It is such a bizzare relationshiip... We met 30 years ago, when we were both 20.
well, you have to hold them so close to the mandolin, don't you?
Then life happened, and we both married, and seperated, and hooked up again via Facebook.

ahhh .. you said, "welki" at the end, it was someone else who asked. i get it :)
multiple choice is nice!
oops sorry -
oh, hey -- totally off track, but I need advice -- is it even slightly okay to mow a wettish lawn? I HAVE to get it done....
ru, it's a 'bug's eye view' shot .. doesn't show him well, but it does show the goofy guy who came in with a face full of snow this morning :)
off to get the shortbread in the oven -- back at the flip :)
that's a photo welki?
purists will say never mow wet grass, it tears the grass instead of cuts it ... if you need to, you need to.
thanks welki
yeah, go to photofunia.com and upload one of yours .. hundreds of different effects
my DH says you shouldn't it will stick all over under the mower...not good...plus you will be a green mess...and all the rest mentioned
OOOOH! I got both 9s!!!!

oh, some of them are quite lovely, some are funny and there are animation options
actually welki, at this point it's more about mulching up the leaves that are left more than mowing
'night soodle
Soodle, my dearest, I wish you a blissful trip to the land of Nod
trif is on the way to ireland?
(i'm on the way to put potatoes into the oven .. brb)
I may be welki, yes. My former MIL is near the end of her life journey, and I want to pay my respects to her, and support my children too, as they will be most sad
wet leaves are prone to have mold not nice on ones nose or lungs!
ONE mention of potatoes, and she puts potatoes in the oven....jesus!

my saxy son? don't have one. i have a passel of daughters and step-daughters and one step-son
...and sons in law, and grandchildren :)
no, this is the first time I've been here. I have kept up with a couple of folks
you will only go to hell if you sitkc the fork into HER eye
oops, sorry, must have gotten mixed up
or temple or whatever
if she asks me one more question....just kidding! and hey there temple! nice to see you!
you'll like it, irish .. as you can see, nice folks, good laughs. a tight community, people help each other out for the most part (sometimes the help even flows into "real" life).
Trif, I don't miss the sleep overs that involve kids with a million questions. No forks.
who has the son who plays sax in a local band there abouts?
mmm i smell my dinner
i think i bought a pro-membership less than 15 minutes after i started playing here
... just a potato, owl?
i need 49 words and have not a whit of inspiration
terrific! I've been looking for a place like this to play. I can't do much with cobra either

irish, i think the best thing about this game is that you have 24 hours to complete the puzzle .. and if you do, that's great .. .and if you don't, so what
thanks to. it does look like a hershey kiss
I have fallen asleep with three to go before, welki....I have to admit, that does make it hard to shrug and say "oh well"
car, are you still here?
i used to be more attentive to finishing .. not so much anymore.
ok peeps, has anyone here ever made the pistachio cake that uses jello pudding?
toy story 3 on the dvd player again = cry face off in 3, 2, .....
TO, I have
and hi everyone
hi nrk
and the pistachio cake with pudding is yummy
haven't had it in years
but I remember it well
how do you think it would work with vanilla layer cake mix instead ofyellow?
I seem to remember it was just yellow cake mix with half a packet of pudding, and then cool whip with the other half a packet, in lieu of frosting
I think yellow is better, but vanilla would probably be okay... just might cut back on the pistachio a bit whith a vanilla cake
recipe calls for whole packet
to me, the yellow cake is a rich enough flavor to hold its own with the pistachio
but not so sure about the vanilla
why? i am afriad it might be bland
really? wow... I am pretty sure I only used 1/2
well i have a box of white ake mix and a box of vanilla and an invitation and need a dessert
this qu12/13 is gonna drive me insane
and you have pistachio pudding mix on hand?
4 cents (not really, but should be)
welki, I'm back. Sorry about that. I am on facebook and would love for us to get together there.

Ty! Got it!
okay, back from playing several rounds of word rampage (another boggle)
hi Gwen. Good?
did you like it?
hi TOwl
it is exaclt like boggle, so yes, i liked it, but it is a bit primitive and needs some redesign
what would you change?
the chat room has problems, for one thing
well not meant to be like this one, only a minute between rounds
hiya lyn!!!
no, but everytime you chat into the chat room, you have to scroll again to see it. it keeps scrolling to the top, whereas the chat is at the bottom
yes it is weird
at5 please?
at*** for your sins
and there is an option to close the grid, but no option to move the grid, which is backwards
ah, that will take a while
but you don't need an option to close the grid, really?
it goes down quite a lot. but it also has chat monitors
are all of you aware of Cobra Dragon Games? It has a game called Serpentine. If you ever played Tangleword, it's a lot like it. Varuma and Bridgie play it.
Varumba
Letter Blox is good - if you can get the version without too many ads - quite addictive

and pl
mmm.... bo derick..she is so cute...
This grid was not ac 4/6 today. I wasn't in 4/4 doing the grid. On 4/5 I got sick of it I gave up way before fireworks were ne 4/4. I quit with a sc 5/12 of 1982 points. I know I could have sc 6/24 more, but did not feel like doing puzzle anymore. Here's a story of clues for you to sc 4/5. I ca 4/5 decide what I want to do for Thanksgiving; go somewhere or stay home. There are advantages and disadvantes to both. I do not ca 4/5 to travel far from my ar4/4.Traffic will be bad.It is also supposed to ra 4/4 on Thursday. If it ra 5/10, then traffic will be worse. But if I stay home, I might have to have it ca 5/12ed since I do not cook & that will co4/5 a lot.It would be ne 4/4 if I could just snap my fingers and a meal appears on my table. If I go to my sister's house, my dog will ra 4/5 after her ca 4/5 and sc 5/12 them.He might even sc 4/5 them for life. I am sure they wish he would sc 4/5 every time he is there. Her ca 4/5s do not like his sc 5/12. They hiss and sn 5/10 every time they see him.He puts them in a sn4/4. Thanksgiving isn't highly ra 5/12 in my book anyway, so if I didn't do anything I would not ca 4/5. I'd be happy just having ta 5/12.I so4/4 of wish I did not have to celebrate it.I told hubby I didn't want to celebrate it and he st 5/10d at me in disbelief. It also isn't ta 4/5ful to snub family on Thanksgiving. I might st4/4 up trouble if I do not spend it with family. They might get so 4/4 and re 5/12 badly. They might think I'm a sn 4/4.I might re 5/12sider not doing anything. Bed time is an 5/10 so I should reti4/4 for the nite. I am going to get off my fat re4/4, te 4/4 myself away from computer and go on4/4 bed & sn 5/10 the night away. I hope for a te 7/28 grid tomorrow. Goodnight

Hi Jilly, no didn't watch it, was skyping with my sister. did hear it though, hubz was hooting and a hollering the whole time
GO CATS!!
Ya BABY!!! great game!!!! Feel sorry for Chase Reynolds though...
what happened?
Well, if the Griz are done, he has no chance on reaching goal of rushing yards
oh, too bad for that. what was the deal about a player getting kicked out of the game?
punched someone in face....
guess i'll read all about it in tomorrow's paper.
What's funny is that the ones fighting weren't from MT...you would think the rivalry would be more heated between natives...
I was babbling to keep my game stress down, so I missed some of the incident...
ahh, so some hothead let loose, bad sportsmanship. too bad about that. the drunks...i mean the fans will be doing enough damage tonight.
lol...you got that right...and bad night for it..the temps are downright dangerous...
yeah, dumb, drunk and frozen! drunk dumb-sicles
rofl
have you seen Jane lately?
Last night, Mary Black concert at our PAC..doing well.
good, haven't seen her online for a while. was wondering if it was just bad timing or if she was just way too busy to babble.
I think it's the latter...she and hubby are doing well. I keep meaning to ask her if she was intentionally not being on line...
i know this is the beginning of her busy music season, so i wouldn't be surprised if she's got way too many irons in the fire right now
brb..
need to be heading for the pillows. see everyone tomorrow! stay warm! it's freezing outside my window! (11°F)
niters dawg....go Cats!
who's mary black?
sorry ru...lol was on itunes buying an album of hers...she's an irish singer..jazzy
that is cold, lbd - stay warm
hi kje...it's 14 here..about 170 miles south of dawg...
ruru.....*knocking on screen*...are you there?
HI again. I didn't think I'd still be awake by this time; but I am!
it is 62 here
28F and freezing drizzle here
WOW! I just got the qu 12 and 13! And only have 28 words that I've found so far!
You Go Nef!!
It's dropping like a rock...getting in the cold canadian air...
not often enough, Jilly! That was a fluck
fluke?
we'll be getting the bad weather tomorrow they are saying
lol...nice froidian slip there....
nah, it was a spelling error. I'm a bad speller espceially when tired
BTW, when we were on earlier, I asked how your hubby's tests turned out. You didn't answer while I was here and I had to leave after a bit
frustrating....just one referral after another...blood tests okay, waiting on 24 hr sleep study, went to neurologist who now has referred him to a nuero behavioralist...grrrrrrr
thanks for asking though...
neuro behavioralists are helpful though
Yah, he has an all day test on 12/14 and results on the 22nd...it's just his medical leave ends a few days after that...
my DH has seen several through the years. But I understand the frustration of not knowing too
Not really sure what they do?? lol
oh dear. There's no way you can get it moved up because of that?
No, I sorta fault our local doc for not starting referrals timely...
If we hadn't been pushing it'd been even later...not happy with MD follow thru AT ALL...
The ones DH saw gave him all sorts of tests (esp. cognitive tests) and he (we) learned what he could and could not do.
sounds like what mine needs
I'm not sure if itr would help; but I'd contact the insurance company and tell them (and complain)
Tough situation all around, doc works for the hospital we (or now I) do and he is one of the docs that I have to work directly with :(
that is tough. Is that doc approachable?
(sorry typed away a longer response and lost it by hitting the "back Space" instead of "enter" button
Sort of, not a bad doc, just a little too laid back and that particular clinic has been notorious for poor communication/coordination. I left it years ago..
oh and to make it even more complicated, my doc is this other docs wife....lol..life in a small town
"lol! been there; done that!"
regarding the clinic, it took 4 days for them to respond to his request for a neurologist...
that's not good at all!
do you have any idea what might be going on?
And you should know!!
The clinic has been slow all the 21 years we have lived there...different docs and personell thru those years..so have absolutely no idea!
unfortunately, I DO know that.
so, in other words, it isn't just the one doc; it's the whole system?
NEAR
OOPS! SORRY
*puts a gin and tonic in pb for nef
It must be, they have some of the best nurses over there...suspect it
it's the office systems
Thanks, but I'd prefer hot chocolate (which I just found there on the stove
better for you....I'm enjoying a G&T in celebration of the Cat-Griz game today..
who won?
CATS!! :D
110th playing...wonder if any other states can claim that?!
I'm not fond of alcohol. I found I function much better without it and don't have to hug the toilet the next day if I don't drink.
Well, I'll bet my family is all in mourning then
I do fine with one...and don't need any more than that.
ahhh, diehard Griz eh?
yep. I have 2 sisters and 2 brothers and my step-mother living IN Mzla and my other sis and bro are in Helena (but both still claim Mzla as home)
lbd and I were chatting tonight about all the partying that will go on tonight...she called them drunk dumbsicles
lbd and I were chatting tonight about all the partying that will go on tonight...she called them drunk dumbsicles
whoops
even one drink can make me very ill the next day.
LOL! It's so true though, isn't it? "drunk dumbsicles" is so apt!
That's too bad nef...oh well, I could do with or without it myself....
I know, I really chuckled...will be below zero here by mid week, have about 2-3 inches of snow on the ground
I have maybe 1-2 watered down glasses of wine a year (for holidays). That's plenty.
We are escaping for awhile, going to New Orleans for a Catholic youth ministers convention the 6th-12th.
Sounds like fun! One of my Mzla neices's is working as an intern chef down there in a fancy restaurant there!
Nice..
(NOw I have to remember where.....
lol
DH and I were talking about going down there before he got sick; she's only down there for a year; so I don't know if we will make it when she's still there
How is DH doing now?
wonderful! He's using a ca** most of the time to walk now; speech is back to normal; sight is improved to better than 2 prescriptions ago. But still has cognitive issues
and the neuropathy --no feeling below the waist
Happy to hear the progress, saddened there is so much unresolved
but at least he's regained some sense of proprioception again
Good!
I'm thrilled with how good he is. We were told in May and June that his "new normal" would be a wheel chair! *I* consider him my miracle man!
Is he still falling?
he fell the other night when he got mad and tried throwing something (but as he later admitted; he shouldn't have gotten so upset)
PUt a little body english in it did he...ahh if only all of us had that little reminder to keep our anger in check...
He's had a temper in the past; he once (when we were first married) left a perfect imprint in the wall of a key (you could have made a copy of it from that!) I told him he had to work on it because I wouldn't tolerate that behavior. I think that this summer is the first time in many years that he's gotten that angry
BTW; here's where my niece is working in New Orleans now: http://www.commanderspalace.com/
lovely place to work, nef
clue for at5 please?
Man, that's a well known place, two friends here that are from there recommended it...
We must at*** for our sinds

So that place is recommended and well-known? That's good to know!
5 minutes....
VERY well know and respected -- for decades -- old New Orleans
*known
Yes nef, supposed to have really good food (on a pricey scale) and good oysters
hello
(established in 1880!)
hey mlf
My niece went to a chef school in MT and this is her internship at that restaurant. I'm pretty clue-less about stuff like this; so I was hoping it would be a great place
Hi -- lining up for the next challenge :-)
hi MLF and jilli
hi nef
(and also Unea and others
Next theme is World Hello Day so hello all!
i am thinking it might be small this time
