Morning/evening all
Good morning/evening all.
Oh thank you both. I was really struggling with that one.
did ya get it???
Hello to my fellow snow sufferers... and diz.
We have had about a foot of snow overnight :(
We are now at about 4 foot of frozen snow. Its nighmarish.
You're worse than us, FM, or at least north of the border. How're you doing, Soodle?
I'll not complain about the few inches we have, in that case.
'fellow snow sufferers' haha....1st 2 days of summer here and we are rained out...grrr
4 feet!!!
Totally snowed in here. No bread in the house (let them eat cake...) rapidly running out of solid fuel and most importantly dog food. I am trying not to panic!
WOW glad I don't get snow, hope you are all well stock up in case of a snowin
Soodle, boil up pasta for the dogs....our dogs luv it
Or rice as well.
And an Irish dog will never say no to a spud.
cev e
Good idea, Diz. We only have 2 dogs left. Poor little Buster was hit and killed by a car yesterday. The car completely lost control. If it had been a person, the same would have happened. Thats why I am just not venturing out :-(
I hear your Buster is gone, Soodle.
AWWWW {HUGGLES} Soodle...xxx
Oh Haz, it is just heartbreaking. The mercy is that he was killed outright. Thank goodness he wasn't badly mangled, because we couldn't have gotten to a vet.
No doubt you'll be kicking yourself for ever having complained about him. I'm sorry - but as you say, glad it was quick.
yes at least it was quick but still v sad.
For a split second when I woke up this morning, I thought yesterday was just a bad dream :-(
I know, it takes a while for things to sink in, doesn't it?
Hope you all have Central Heating (we call it reverse cycle aircondtioner) and are keeping warm...xxx
oh yes diz, heating is on and ticking over nicely.
Yes, keeping warm.
and I am going to make a beef and onion casserole today.
I made a huge pot of soup yesterday so we'll have more of that at lunch today. You really need comfort food in this weather!
I honestly can say Have never been snowed in, have been to the snow and thats it....been rained in as of the past few days...LOL...but can still get to shops etc.
I will be demanding virtual home-made soup and beef and onion casserole from Haz and FM later.....
It's pretty to look at, diz, but not easy to cope with.
*puts a care package together for Soodle (and the dogs)*
Thanks FM :-)
I better go and do stuff. Happy babbling all, and thanks for the EV clues. Poof
Bye Soodle.
emailing bowls of chicken an vegetable stew with fresh crusty bread for dippers...enjoy...LOL
Byeee Soodle
What about your mum, FM, will she be snowed in as well?
When I spoke to her yesterday they had only had a light dusting and R had been out to the shops. I would guess they have had more snow overnight, will call her later.
Hopefully that means that they're okay and they've got fresh provisions.
Not that there is much I can do as I can't use the car.
I know, frustrating for everyone.
Oh well, just ahve to sit it out. All footie matches are canx until further notice too.
What are you up to today?
Pitches unplayable and roads not in great shape - it makes sense.
RDA has been cancelled because the lane to the stables is only passable in four wheel drive vehicles. So, staying put, although we haven't nearly as much snow as you.
I'll get out with Spangle for a walk, she likes the snow.
silly dog :) WEll I am going to get some breakfast and then contemplate the grid. Probably see you later.
See you later, FM.
morning all how many words today please
196, sandra. Good morning.
thanks on this cold and snowy morning
You're welcome.
good morning from the arctic north!
Good morning, ruby.
poor Soodle; it makes all other problems seem very unimportant.
We are pretty much snowed in but housekeeper's husband just came and cleared paths up the driveway for the trash and for feeding the birds and made the parking reasonably clear so husband could get the car out.
Ruby has what I think is terrible ecema on her legs and we are trying to help her, but it is too difficult to get to the vet's in about 3 ft of snow.
eczema?*
eczema, yes, is the spelling.
Hello all. Poor Ruby!
Hello, lynxxx.
i hope hes okay rubyfoo

I learned to make good bandages from the nurse who cared for husband, and I wa actually able to keep bandage on for 4 hours, enough time for the meds to absorb, I hope
she seems to be less uncomfortable

loves lynxx!!!
You're calling those mitigating circumstances, lynxxx?
Just consulting the rule book.
a double whammy - sure
Exceptions may be made in the case of personal sickness or in extreme circumstances the illness of others present in the immediate family circle. I suppose it counts.
whew
You're very lucky, ruby, to have Portia/lynxxx here to plead your cause.
well, I can hold my head part way up again -- maybe
any further news from 'that' court/judge Ruby?
Back from breakfast and time to have a look for words.
morning FM
back again, husband left the car window open through all this snow and left in the other car with the keys!
one thing after another.
Hello lynxxx! Had a good day?
We received half the settlement (not yet, even) that the lawyer asked for and now have to pay 425 euros to the court-appointed doctor to see if we have a case for damages.
Also, the dog is back at home!
achieved what I wanted so yes (though tired/sore)
Morning ruby, oh dear re hubby :(
he is a mess and shoveled snow yesterday which totally flattened him! I am not his mother and he gets mad at me if I tell him he's overdoing
Oh good grief! where is all that concern
not from you Ruby - from the villagers and mayor and police
THat sounds like a very unsatisfactory outcome (so far) on the court case.
I am disgusted. And the dog-owner, who was found guilty, only had to pay a fine of 450 euros to the court.
Soiunds like an unsatisfactory outcome for the whole neigbourhood
French criminal justice, the ultimate oxymoron, I fear
bonjour bonjour
Hello Ata!!
Bonjour!
it will wind up costing us a lot of money plus the terrible psychological and physical toll it has taken on poor husband
Hey Ata!!
bonjour, ata
working from home :)
It is all very wrong Ruby
Are you snowed in too Ata?
HOw much has fallen Ata?
it's not like he bit the dog!
refresh for spaniel dismay!
the fields have about a foot, everywhere else about 6 inches
ruby, I think at this point you have to cut your losses and give up the fight. You're not going to win on the terms you want and it's not worth the struggle for both of you to continue.
oh poor Hobbit!
Words of wisdom from Haz. I think it is so disappointing that the community hasn't supported you both too
I think, once the next stage is over, they will all come together with a petition to destroy the dog
oh poor hobbity!
I'd love nothing better than for justice to be done, but it's not worth the anxiety you've given yourselves. Certainly let the villagers carry on, but I think you should take a back seat.
Okay, having dispensed words of wisdom and having read the rule book twice through to see if there's anything about French justice (NOTHING THERE) I must take five minutes to throw on some more layers.
good idea!
no matter how it turns out, it's a bad situation. At least, this way, husband feels he's doing something
Is this a colder start to Winter than last year for you?
this is the most snow we've had in 13 yrs here!
Yes!
and never this early
So whats the verdict on the grid, good one?
nice grid, almost half for me
wtg ruby! you are miles ahead of me.
I'm just fiddling around, going OK
half, yay!
I keep getting distracted by things so input of words is at a snails pace.
Input? Words?
lol, Im using my typing skills in the chog rather than the grid.
for nbt, hint for the top-right l
all the l's come from the other one.....
mind you I just typed that whole sentence in the wrong box. There is no hope for me today :)
and I'll bet enable didn't accept it....
LOL!
lo5.10
it means a scoundrel or worthless person
comes between the misplaced and misplaces
ty lynxx
and enable accepts the Italian wine....go figure!
ooo I got an 8! yay!
I've missed that smugness!
no 8's, no 9's, but have to make a soup -- will try to use up all the yucky old vegs in fridge
you can feel it emenating can't you lynxxx :)
see you later!!
it's worse now I can prove I'm the most intelligent person in the world. Well, nearly :P
Bye ruby.
There will be no stopping your world domination now Ata :)
what??? how/why is that?
HAve you joined Mensa yet?
go on tell lynxx, Ata.
oh lol, was rooting through a lot of my gran's stuff the other day and found a report from an educational psychologist person done when I was 6 basically saying I was so vastly intelligent at that age that I was as intelligent as a normal primary school teacher *sporfle*
*blinks blearily* I slept through the flip :o(
*passes dfm a coffee*
oh my Lord - major major smugness!
but caffeine puts me to sleep! :o/
it really was quite quite funny to read
morning dfm
Ah ok, how about juice?
juice works :o)
It was a facinating insight Ata.
but then again maybe the pyschol. did not have a very high opinion of primary school teachers - ?
the whole thing went on for pages. I was giggling madly while reading it and mother was most put out that I was finding it funny
I wonder how many layers Haz is putton as she has been gone quite some time now.
the thermal underwear takes a while to put on I understand
hehe the letters I have left looks like a heart...
*giggle*
I'm back.
hi haz! :o)
Hello, dfm and everyone.
hello warm haz
we were wondering where you had got to. But I guess you cleaned the house from top to bottom whilst donning layers and doing the ironing.
Body warmer on over jumpers, feeling better now.
I think I'm sleepy... I've been stuck on the C for a long time for nbt, any hints?
No, I was also checking on the food and water supply for the birds.
ce4/6 - give up
I work backwards dfm and haven't got to the c's yet.
ce5 - gives up
My birds are v confused as the food and water is in a different place today as I can't get up the garden.
ce4 and ce5 - padded ones provided in the Home for the Bewildered.
thanks haz :o) nbt and 50 left
Husband bought some huge feeders for the birds. I think he was getting fed up with having to replace the food every five minutes in the smaller ones.
What is it with men and having to buy big. Mum was commenting that R had brought back the biggest bag of bird seed she had ever seen.
I think it's because it's better value?
Talking of which I had better give her a quick ring just to check all is well. BRB.
Hope all's well.
on phone with them now and the central heating has packed up
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!
but they have an engineer there now.
phew!
Oh good!
I was going to ask if they had alternative source of heat, but thank goodness they've got help already.
BRB
drat. Idotea isn't allowed. That's a type of little shrimpy thing
A y in the grid would be good.
Then we could have identity and 70.
yay engineer has replaced a part and all is working again. Thank goodness and bless the engineer wh has a 4 wheel drive car! Phone call may take a while.
That's good news, FM.
aha, vets just phoned, hobbit has a reprieve from her trim until next week
It'll save you having to try to get through the snow as well.
yep! though I really could just walk her down tehre, it's very close. BUt still, it's easiest
Thoughts on Apprentice?
hmmm. not a particularly interesting one. No Stuart idiocy. Chicken feet are horrid. Phoning up Gordon Ramsay for truffles was amusing. Laura was fairly hopeless and how on earth did the boys win??
I think the penalties for not getting an item should have been far higher.
At one point I thought that this is being edited in such a way as to make you feel it inevitable that the girls win, therefore had a sneaky suspicion that the boys might do it.
We were glad to see Laura out, she's been such a moan the whole way through.
Yes, but it didn't almost seem fair that the boys could win without getting all the items.
I know, I agree.
and back :)
But then it was pointed out that it was more than just a treasure hunt, it was a cut-price treasure hunt and the girls lost sight of that.
and I'm surprised nothing was really said about the boys making up stories. Normally AS doesn't like that sort of thing
I know, and the stories were so rubbish, all told in that monotone voice.
good to hear you ladies are feeding the birds, every time i put food out it gets covered by fresh snow, and they cannot get water from my pond as it is covered with slush.
Hi ron.
Hello, ron. They're going mad for the sunflower hearts and the water has to keep being replenished as it keeps freezing.
We've just put a tin thing out on the table for the water.
same here, I had to use a different container for the water today and the birds are all spooked but what can you do.
Hi Haz i have got a football in the pond to keep a space free of ice to save the liner but the ball is in a place the birds cannot drink from.
adopt a word? how do you adopt a word? adoptaword.com
football in the pond? o.0 hi ron :o)
Some people should set up adoptaphrase.com 'At the end of the day' 'When all's said and done'
run it up the flag pole.
Hello dfmcfhf, say hi to my son in Vancouver,he reckons we have more snow than they have there.
You know, it would be far easier if you called yourself mdf. That rolls off the tongue nicely.
you probably do, it's usually not that snowy in Vancouver... heard they had a big snowfall recently though
haz you can call me mdf if you want! :o)
and we could build him into all sorts of useful shelves and cupboards :)
As for the football in the pond i used to have a heater but am now watching my carbon footprint, and saving money.
But if I do, will it ring your wee bell to let you know you're being talked about?
but I don't want to be built in4 shelves and cupboards Do:
oh phooey thats me off to the PB then.
it already looks for "dmf" as well, might as well make it look for "mdf" too
That's settled, then.
just keep me out of cupboards and shelves.
at least if you were mdf you could get a job with the blue film people as you would always have wood!! lol.
lol naughty ron, but technically mdf is reconstituted stuff.
so you would have to watch out for the splinters.
yer but its still woody
:)
time to put the kettle on and walk about a bit back in a bit.
*yaa~~awn* I think I'm gonna go back to sleep...
Good morning everyone.
Rusty just bought me a hot chocy sans rum shucks she says it is too early for some caribbean sunshine in my drink.
Good morning, Sally.
Hasve fresh pot of coffee here.
See you later, dmf/mdf. Sleep well!
What did I say?
woody is tired out.
hi sally :o)
Hi dfm.
and if I start to stop replying... "night" all (although the sun is almost just starting to rise...)
Okay, I'm going to see if I can get anything useful done around here. Enjoy the grid, and see you later. Bye!
Bye Haz. See you later perhaps.
Morning Sally.
hi sally
Hi FM. Came on just as you were having a problem. Your heating?
And hi Ata.
No! my v elderly parents but all is well now as engineer was able to get to them thanks to 4 wheel drive and spare parts.
Ah, OK. I didn't scroll back, just saw a mention of heating engineers whisking past my eyes.
So thankful to whoever he is.
or should that to 'to whomever he is'?
It's OK, Haz has left for the moment.
phew!
So hows you today and how is hubby doing?
I do wish those two S letters were together, could make so many words with a double one.
I'm well, hubby doing pretty well at the moment, but we have battened down the hatches and will not go out for the moment! Will make bread later and have plenty of food and log burner alight so all is well!
Sorry, two exclamation marks in same paragraph. Naughty Sally.
Good to hear all of that :)
Gather it's pretty bad down your way. Niece who works at Christ's Hospital is snowed in at work which she thinks is most unfair!
If it would stop snowing I would happily don wellies and venture in4 the village just for the fun of walking in snow ... but perhaps not.
I bought some Yaktrax for my boots last year FM, and they are invaluable for walking in the snow.
back. Hi Sally
I think skis would work well here today.
Hallo lynxxx
Hi again lynxxx
so fed up of the snow
what happens with the chickens in the snow?
They stay under cover. They don't like walking on it.
there has to be a joke response to lynxxx's question but I just can't think of one :(
l
Did try myself FM.
If ruru was here I bet he would come up with a great one liner.
Well I suppose you could say that you get instant frozen chicken.
Ooh, two lovely pheasants outside the window.
oh wow!
We have been having 'dumps' of rain combined with warm temps. All very steamy. My Angel Trumpet tree is totally covered in flowers - but I am going crazy tonight (itchy skin & slight headache) with the fragrance, I will have to pull at least half the flowers off it tomorrow
You do not have my sympathy lynxxx :-)
poor lynxxx, will have to google Angel Trumpet tree.
Nice half way, got 100 without too much trouble. Now the wall starts!
isn't that datura?
What lovely flowers.
Yes - think it has had a few name changes
Deadly poisonous, isn't it.
where in australia are you Lynxxx?
Yeah - but I just love the flowers - except when it is hot/humid
In Melbourne Sami
im in canberra
hi all my daddy's aorta kind of ripped apart yesterday and they had to replace a whole bunch of artery and the next couple days are very critical we have to hope he doesn't have any complications including stroke and stroke is a worry lessening over time but for about a month and must hope the new part where it is sewed onto the heart valve doesn't tear away because there would be nothing they could do in that case and please pray if you pray thank you.
he is only 55.
Welcome Sami. You can usually tell where 'pro' players are from if you click on their names/flags
(((hurshy)))
oh Hurshy, of course ((Hugs))
Oh hurshy, I am so very sorry.
Happy Thursday, Babllers
((((hurshy and hurshy's dad)))))
His young age is on his side.
he is doing well so far all things considered but there are just still these risks.
hi Aloy
hurshy, I wish your dad a complete and speedy recovery!
hello all
Hursh, prayers out for your Dad and your family.
oh, Hurshy... so sorry, just read your post.. will keep him in my thoughts
hi Peri
thank you all
hugs hurshy
I was reading back in the log looking for clues earlier and it sounds like something has happened to Nancy Boy, hopefully we will be able to get some news from someone.
What sort of thing FM? What time should I look at?
I don't know what sort of thing but it was about half an hour after the flip.
OK, will go and look.
Hi Aloy and peri! good to see you.
ty for letting us know, FM
and hi to peri.. def. soup weather, right?
um it was about 12.30 log time
yes, diesnt sound good
oh dear, wonder what happened and if he is ok
Oh dear, just read back. Thanks for the tip FM. If something has actually happened to him, can't think why it couldn't have been put briefly in the chog.
well lets try and keep the smiles going and support those that need it.
its only for the Secret Clique to know
Someone will know, that's for sure.
Ata don't start.
just explaining
k
For a lot of us we don't actually know other Babblers in real life so if anything happened to one of us, we would just vanish from Babble without trace presumably.
Speaking of vanishing, anyone heard from Sprite?
i think my husband would probably know to post something here if i died or something - i mean he might think of it after a while.
true Sally and I had a nightmare a while back if anything happened to me - trying to explain to my non internet savvy parents how to let babble friends know :)
Mine wouldn't.
morning all :)
She is usually on in the afternoons these days lynxxx
But you know Ata and Haz in real life, FM, so presumably one of them would know. Perhaps I should leave vital instructions in my will. Amend FB, tell Babble, that sort of thing.
Hey mia!
Great! thankyou FM, I have been concerned
hi Mia
so many of us enjoy chatting with NB.. now I am concerned.. how did you know it was him, FM? I couldn't tell from the chatlog I read
hello everyone - just a moment to stop in and tell you I'm here, I'm OK, but today will be the hardest day of all - we bury my husband at 11:00. I also want to send hugs and good wishes to Hurshy and to our dear Nancy Boy
Mum can't get her head round internet friends, I tried to use the pen pal analagy (as she has had a pen pal for years and they have met up) but she still can't quite grasp it.
Because JC said he had spoken to (sent a message to?) Frank, who is NB's partner.
my deepest condolences, JBV.. (( ))
Will be thinking of you JBV.
Hello JBV, will be thinking of you ((hugs))
We will all be thinking of you today JBV.
Aloy as Sally said Frank is NB's partner.
thank you everyone, it is comforting to know you care
(((JBV)))
Be strong today for him.
(((JBV)))
Seriously FM. Perhaps you should just let one of your internet-savvy friends know where to post a message (Babble etc). None of us know what will happen.
It is something I have on my to do list Sally as no-one would know how to access client files or whe they are ... and and and...
stats pls for corner L
*who not whe
lo5.10 peri
I run a couple of web sites and have a file with all the access passwords and so on. My husband is not internet savvy at all, and wouldn't have the slightest idea.
ty Aloy, have a couple of lo5 but not from that L
will keep looking
k, let me know if you need a clue
Don't forget it must use the other L peri.
found it ty Aloy
nbt
wtg (-:
Aloy is your head still full of Paris images, you really did manage to fit a huge amount in during the time you were there.
ave
yes, FM! now and probably forever (-:
So glad you had such a great time, it is a wonderful city.
Ata you still here?
we are such "babies" here in the US.. that is how I felt as I learned so much French history.. the buildings, art, etc.. centuries old.. so much to try to absorb, couldn't do it justice but tried
How long were you there for Aloy?
a week, Sally.. so "scratched the surface"
phone
phone
hello friends.
Hi Trif
hi Trif
hi Trif
i dont chat before nbt, so I have been lurking for a bit. the news, but no real details, about nancyboy is most concerning
can you tell us anything Trif?
what's up with NB?
no, i have no idea! not in the secret society either
darn, I am worried about him. EvaN will be v upset when she hears there is something wrong.
it could also be wicked good news, I suppose. he won an award, was suddenly welcomed back into his family, I just don't know
yes, but not chatting
Oh too late Ata was going to say look at ITV as they have the most georgous pup on there.
I have my sisters and a cousin on here, as well as my pastor, so if I got hit by a bus or something, some one could let you know.
a 9 week old lab of some sort but looks like it will grow into a monster.
am partial to labs, won't look
funny how we view our babble buddies as part of the network that need to be told if something happens.
Back from phone.
It was someone ringing me to thank them for sending them this link. You may all have seen it before but if not some of you may enjoy it. You will need to turn your sound on: <http://www.youtube.com/user/AlphabetP hotography>
Hello again - I've just been catching up with the log news.
hello Haz
Just watching your link Sally.
Hello, Aloy. I'm so pleased to hear you enjoyed Paris.
I'd have been amazed if you'd not liked the place.
I did indeed, Haz.. my first time, was agog to say the least
I love Paris, Aloy.
It's just beautiful.
yes, even in Nov.. it snowed twice..
Did you just go to Paris Aloy, or other parts of Europe as well?
wore a quilted vest under my winter coat, so in pics, I look like the Pillsbury doughboy, lol
hello haz...sorry, got distracted there for a second....
just Paris
next year we hope to visit Italy
And to think they called that girl after that place. The city should sue.
That was glorious Sally TY
saving our Euros
Oh you've watched the link! Isn't it wonderful!
Magic - I have tears in my eyes
Oh Sally that brill, thanks v uplifting for a grey day. Am going to keep the link.
Me too lynxxx
Glad to spread the magic.
will save link and watch later.. can't seem to access it from this page, sigh
*passes lynxx a tissue*
Was in a Canadian shopping mall apparently.
Another flash mob? I love them, the one in the Tmobile advert from Heathrow is great as well.
Those Canadians are pretty classy
some one had that as their fb status the other day, and I was a soppy mess after watching it. I want to either be in a flash mob, or at least witness one, someday
<http://www.youtube.com/user/AlphabetP hotography> Haz
Aloy it is great a resounding rendition of the Hallelujah Chorus.
I have it on at the minute, Sally. Reached my favourite bit 'The kingdom... is become THE KINGDOM OF OUR LORD'
I love how the volume rises!
I would have been singing along....anyone else?
tx, FM.. bet I will be weepy too
I have the CD of Messiah in the car, I like to play it through December.
That girl at the beginning has an amazing voice. But it was the faces of the diners I loved.
hearing it in my brain, Trif
try this link Aloy: http://tinyurl.com/38uzcbh
Who has the tissues?
Passes box of tissues round Babble.
well can you imagine sitting there eating our burger and suddenly that happens :)
I thought it was mostly an Easter song? I mean, whatever, I love it, but at my church we sing it every Easter....
Wouldn't it be wonderful FM.
it is an Easter song, but you hardly ever hear it at easter
I love how the first gal never gets off the phone!
tomorrow I am going to Messiah Rocks, a slightly different presentation
Any day that music touches you is a good day to sing.
I think you'll find that isn't a phone but her MP3 for the sound.
nope.. you know, I am still using the B.Expert prog. you sent me after my old computer crashed, FM.. have it on a flash drive and so.. if I go to the reg. Babble site, I will be able to link off the site, but not while using the flash drive.. it is ok.. have something to look forward to shortly (-:
If you look they are exactly in time, and she is leading. That last pause is exactly two beats. You don't do that without someone leading.
the thing that really amazes me is that they did this seemingly without a director. that is one GOOD chorale!
Any day that music touches you is a good day to sing.
brb.. kitchen is calling (-:
Also the man playing the background music has the score on his keyboard if you look carefully :-)
If you've still got tissues to hand, try this http://tinyurl.com/38q2qx4
Sally, that gave me major chills up and down my spine -- thanks so much!
I enjoy this flashmob as well: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e6DLGB3 uwFU&feature=related
Gets tissues ready and goes to view Haz's link.
We're going to be a soggy mess if this keeps up.
I justlove the looks on peoples faces!
And yes, Trif, I love the Antwerp one as well. Can you imagine the organisation required?
Just shows what viral advertising can do.
Very clever Haz
but it is a good soggy mess Haz :)
saved that url too, ty Haz
Isn't it fun, lynxxx? The bit that always gets me is the woman gathering the children for a hug and it's downhill from then on.
OK, just looked at the T-mobile one. You might also like this one, sorry for long link but I don't do tinyurl: <http://www.youtube.com/watch_popup?v= NLjuGPBusxs&vq=medium>
I must get to bed. If you don't hear from me again I will have succumbed to the Angels Trumpet perfume
Normal service will be resumed on babble after these intermissions...
Hello babblers! I'm here for ten minutes, so let's make this fast.
Goodnight, lynxxx. Sleep well.
sweet dreams lynxxx
lol.. sweet dreams lynxxx
hi bye Mark
We're too busy blowing our no5/10 and wallowing to bother with the grid, Mark.
aren't we all so funny?
yup we are :)
I thank God every day for you all. Life sure would be less fun without you.
I feel 'right cheered up' as my Grandmother would have said.
me too, fm
That's good. I know people are having tough times right now (JBV and hurshy) but there's something cheering about enjoying/enduring together.
Just glad I didn't put on any mascara this morning
lol FM. Obviously not the day for your cleaner then.
Not fully made up and sitting down to babble. Standards, woman!
Oh he blew me off Sally, called in sick. Doesn't eat and fruit or veg and wonder why he keeps getting coughs and colds?? I ask you!
(Okay, so I have no make-up on either but it's a scheduled letting the skin breathe day.)
Didn't you know Haz? Dr_G is planning live web cam links for the new Babble. So those who play before getting dressed will be outed!
DREAD
There'll be no live webcam in this house!
well, I'm off to get cheered/happy weepy too.. have a long "to do" list as we are headed south in a couple of days.. antifreeze for the toilets, etc.. oh no.. not me, Sally.. still in my jammies.. no no no, lol
I'll just employ my patented method for typing from under the desk. Arm extensions.
((((whispering))) I am not actually enthused about the new babble having the instant private message capability. just makes me paranoid
lol Haz
Take care Aloy and see you warmer climes.
Bye Aloy!
I know what you mean, Trif. We'll see if it's used much.
Bye, Aloy, safe travel.
Well presumably you can ignore it Trif.
will do.. neighbors in Fla. tell us a cold snap there too.. thank goodness they can't blame us for bringing it down..
I think it will be a shame if people use that rather than the chog though.
ttfn.. poof
i envision a chog where by people will write what should have been private in this box instead, and all hell will break loose. Happens with grid words all the time, so it's a fait accompli, I should think
thank you so much for that wonderful uplifting hallelujah moment - it was just what I needd to get started today. Love you all - talk to you tomorrow
Well that should be amusing then Trif!
So glad you all enjoyed it.
jbv, my icon is for you and your husband....so much love sent to you
Right I am going to go too - I must prepare casserole for the oven and go dry my eyes :) Thanks for the brilliant chat and see you later.
Bye JBV - courage.
See you later, FM.
You remind me FM. I must take meat out of freezer.
thank you dear Trif and Haz and everyone - I love you all
(((((((((((((((jbv))))))))))))))))))))
JBV, prayers out for you and your family.
You'll be in many people's thoughts today, JBV, and future days as well.
And time for me to get lunch on the table. The birds have been feeding all morning, time the humans got a look in. Bye for now!
bye Haz
oh, sure, everyone go and be all productive, and make me feel like a big fat slag for babbling on.....
de nt
I'm still here Trif.
goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooood mornin babblers!
thank you sally!!!
Hi Eva!
good morning evaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Nantucket Nectars drink cap fact of the day: The average water temperature in July for Nantucket is 73 degrees.
LOL. I live in massachusetts, and I can tell you the average temp of the water for the rest of the year is about 50
rest of the summer, i should say. the rest of the year the water is nigh on frozen
where in massachusets?
on the south shore
well, maybe you should move to the magical, mystical land of nantucket. hehe
Hi!
norwell
hey car my love!!!
couldn't afford the air there, let alone the water, evan
did the boy get off okay, car?
good morning Babblers :)
good morning nono
Yes he did. Very well this morning as a matter of fact!
Now I am chillin' with my girl!
car, the bane of your existence is in the grid today! ea4.7
No kidding!
and, btw, I haven't heard a word. not from weymouth, ireland, or oz
I didn't think you would.
mmmmmmmmm...... omelette for breakfast. :) tomato, onion, ham + cheese.....
Yes, please, Eva!
mmmm sounds good Eva but I just had my yougurt
the omelettes they make here are quite large. i usually try to make them work for 2 breakfasts, but i might hafta be a little piggy today and eat the whole thing...
phone....
it's not me.
ce
morning Inge
is there an LL word?
not that I have car.ee
that's what I was thinking car? can't figure out the top right l
morning all
that begins and ends with same leter
do i want to start this one?
its lo5/10
losl?
Of course you do carlee! Good morning!
hi Carlee
close bichon but 5 letters
not sure
Carlee! Where have you been hiding?
hi nono
car.
i've been decorating for xmas
and super tired...didnt sleep well for 2 nights..so i read fluff
then you need a break Carlee
how are u molls?
i was thinking of starting some holiday baking
Taking it as it comes.
hear u load and clear molls
I have a couple of lo 5's but not from that L!
loud even molls
That L in the corner is a weird one, and mind the hint given earlier that it begins and ends with the same letter.
Got it!
TY!
anyone have the i in the bottom row?
Yes...babblet with 3 vowels
nm got it
yes, hang on.
in4 babblet
not out + do re me fa so la....
Wrong I molly
thanks molly but thats from the other i
in plus two vowels
but i found it as soon as i asked for help
TY Molly! Needed that one too!
Always the way Nono!
Again, what is a babblet?
seems that way Sally
A word often found in the grid but not in real life.
Oh man, there are thousands of those. : P
I mean, how often have you used the words etui or nene?
LOL! I used to use nene a lot!
Oooh! Whole left column grayed!
Am I all alone?
i think i will skip this one... just not inthe mood for babbling these last few days...
reading..sipping coffee...decorating for xmas...maybe some xmas baking
Sounds good too, Carlee! Take some time to take care of yourself too!
Sorry, no you aren't alone, just was deep in the S words.
Good! I like the company!
I'm in and out. I'm spotty here when I'm at work.
I know!
are candles the theme today?
( not babbling just in and out for the chat )
Poster JBV lost her husband.
jbv's husband's funeral today
They are in honor of JBV's husband who passed away.
omg I had no idea! My prayers are with JBV and her family
There is a thread at Babanon, if you know how to get there. I had to follow a link from Stid because the link here doesn't work for me.
thanks Molly going there now
There is also something afoot with NB, but we don't know what. JC posted something in the chog but no-one else knows whether something or what has happened to him.
What did JC post Sally?
hang on, let me find it.
Oh dear.
Good morning everyone...thoughts and prayers to JBV and family
Good morning!
oh no...poor jbv
terrific (and funny, if you can imagine) French ad promoting mammograms: http://tinyurl.com/yhv6pm7
I do hope NB is ok
Starts at 12.38 Babble time. JC says to m9f9l "Did you get the email?", and got the response "too overwhelmed to even respond yet", then JC says "We had a chat with Frank on MSN", best discussed there. So we don't know what's up unless we are in the inner circle! But presumably some other Babblers do.
Sorry, my quotes are a bit in the wrong place but I think you get the gist.
Great promo!
:-D
Yes, I hope he is OK and it isn't just perhaps a break-up of a relationship or something. Not that that isn't awful, but not usually life-threatening.
I was thinking the same thing, sally . . .
Une...I like your icon!
thanks!
no snow here but others have had a lot -- Ruby said she had two feet!
hello everyone
Hi Annie
morning, annie!
is this grid a starter?
hi Une and Sea
so sorry about JBV's husband passing
Hi Annie! I am finding it quite enjoyable.
yeah, you can do it, Annie :-)
hi car. glad you said that, here I go
**splash**
The first half presents no problems, and there are only a few really hard words.
Shinola! My kids are playing marching band! Who the heck bought my kids a drum?!?!
hi Sally, will give it a go
Still have 14 to find though :-(
morning Annie
Hi Nono...any snow up there? we have terrific winds here
Car, I was a persona non grata many years ago when i gave a friend's little boy a percussion set for Xmas! LOL
the first word I found was rather poopy!
And Dora droning on in the background certainly isn't helping!
lol seaspray. I have that one!
I only have myself to blame...I bought the drum/instruments.
Car! What were you thinking? lol
And to be honest...we have gotten a lot of use out of these toys! My kids love music!
she was thinking, oh maybe with these they will be musically inclined LOL
car. then money well spent
Music is good...my daughter played the clarinet and I will never forget when she first learned to play she played happy birthday to my husband at a family birthday party...so cute
Oh! Awesome!
Now that they are old enough, I think I will take them to an open rehearsal at Boston Symphony. I think they will be amazed!
and we loved Mr Hollands Opus
car. that would be great for your kids
Now that would be awesome Car
oh, car, that sounds terrific!!
love Mr. Holland's Opus as well -- was a huge band geek myself! LOL
I have always loved the orchestra and classical music, even as a kid, so I want to give them that exposure too.
loas
ooops
np, not a word :-)
got the word that starts and ends with the same letter...it made a complete circle, 5 letters
top right corner
Against my better judgement I walked into the village and didn't break anything but unfortunately the camer batteries went pffht as soon as I left home :(
hi all, help with T in lower left pls
Keep your camera warm FM, in a breast pocket or something, it's the temperature that does it.
Hi FM! Please dont say you were walking on an icy road...tsk tsk
FM? What?
NM
No Annie, a foot at least now of snow
Hi Peri
the cold will kill the batteries really fast FM
Ugh. I really need to be getting to my work now. Would MUCH rather stay here!
hi Peri
FM, that can be tricky too...glad youre okay
Ah well I will have to take pics from indoors instead.
I am glad you are OK too FM! Be careful!
Shall I saddle up the sled dogs?
I have Yaktrax for my boots FM, absolutely brilliant for snow and ice.
I'm fine and actually it was fun to see so much snow.
I love snow! Can't wait!
Fresh snow is beautiful..I love it
brb
you can hav eour car.e
I am considering buying a new point and shoot camera but I want a powerful zoom...does anyone have any experience with them?
Send it on over!
I'll translate that for you car.e: you can have our snow :)
I have a Kodak camera with 12x zoom and I LOVE IT!
What model car?
Just an Easy Share I think. I will go get it....
I HATE snow and ice
Oh, thank you
I like snow...not ice so much
plain snow is ok but it tends to melt and turn to ice
tomorrow might be a different issue as it has snowed all day and is going down well below breezing overnight. No going anywhere tomorrow I think.
are there 2 sa8? I have one
We had our share last winter FM, at least 4 feet..it was very bad
dont have it peri, not lisisting yet
have sa8 and va8, very similar except for start of word
and listing too
not listing here either, thought I saw mention of it in the chat
A real man is a woman's best friend. He will Never stand her up and never let her down. He will reassure her when she feels insecure And comfort her after a bad day. He will inspire her to do things she never Thought she could do; to live without fear And forget regret. He will enable her to Express her deepest emotions and give in to Her most intimate desires. He will make sure She always feels as though she's the most Beautiful woman in the room and will enable Her to be the most confident, sexy, Seductive and invincible. No wait... Sorry... I'm thinking of wine. Its wine that does all that damn. Never mind.
JBV if you are out there. Blessings to you and yours.
I phoned my parents this morning to make sure they were OK (v aged and infirm) to find out that their central heating had broken .... but the good news was an engineer had maanged to get to them and was there fixing it when I called.
LOL Molly, loved the post until the end :)
LOL Molly was just about to get the kleenex out again.
Back...it is a Kodak Easy Share Z712 IS. But note, it does not slip into your pocket. I wanted something with more weight, as I kept losing the smaller, slim camera that I had.
Hi herin!
FM, glad the heating problem is being attended to
Oh Good to hear FM.
Hi Herin!
peri i have an se8
LOL. Molly
thank you car...will keep that one in mind
Can't tell you how relieved I was Annie as there was nothing I could have done to help them.
FM, I can imagine your relief esp. in frigid weather.
ty will now look for se8
I have sa 8
Real good to hear FM, glad they are ok
phantom: sentient
va 8 x 2
Perhaps I should buy or hire a cheap 4x4 for the winter, my sports car just ain't up to this snow.
ok, car will now look for othr va8, ty
Ooh! Found the SE 8! TY!
Waves hello. I am just about to go to bed. But I wanted to drop JBV a message
That may be a good idea FM!
Plural and past tense peri
Nighty night then herin, sleep well.
nite nite Herin
good night herin!
Night herin
Alright, I really need to get some work done. Have a wonderful day everyone! BBL@
Sally, I must be missing something. I don't see how that conversation links to NB. But I am out of the loop.
ah thanks Car.ee, i found the second va8
TTFN car.e
night, herin
help with se8 pls
i se8 my vegies with garlic and pepper
can't help peri.
tx nono!!
sheesh, a regular word, ty NoNo
yw
would have helped if I had the se6, now have both, ty
and there it is - good one Nono.
ive got yet another work-less day ahead of me here at the office (tis the season) so i brought a cookbook with me to go through and mark recipes id like to try. how long do we think thats going to keep me entertained?
two va 8 's. I'm in trouble.
one of the va8 is similar to an sa8 except for first letter
Nonsense, Annie, we're here to help. Hello!
Annie, if you have the sa8, just change the first letter. :o)
The va8 only differ from each other in the last letter.
Morning all
Or, what Peri said, LOL.
Just podgering in then to bed
there are so many people who are overwhelmed doing their job and the jobs of other who have been let go
Hi Hazel, Mr. Bob, Jen
lol are you finished reading it already EvaN?
so there are Haz, ty
hi Haz, Bob and Jen
morning!
nono, havent started yet, FM. i DID actually have a meeting this morning.
Then I have to find the sa 8
so take advantage of the down time, Eva,
You're welcome, peri. Hello Annie, Nono, FM, herin, Jen and EvaN (they're the only ones I can see without scrolling down)
*grin* you new wife you!
Hey Haz!
peri, i try as much as possible. :) but despite not having much to do this time of year, we are still supposed to somehow appear busy.
Hello FM. Did you venture out in the snow yet?
FM, i do tend to do most of the cooking... so i like a little variety in what i eat! yesterdays new recipe was panko-crusted chicken with a citrus butter sauce. :)
what type of work do you do, Eva? (what type of business I guess is what I meant to ask)
ooh that sounds good, did hubby like it?
Have no idea what the panko crusted bit is but the rest sounds delish.
i do software and application testing -- im a contractor for the government. the agency we work for heavily relies on congress for their work -- when congress isnt busy, neither are we, for the most part. we do have to come in on saturday morning for work, but right now, things are very light -- they usually are around the holidays...
panko is an asian-style type of breadcrumb. extra crispy. :) and yes, hubby and i quite enjoyed it!
that explains it then, ty
Haz, I did and it was fun and Budgens was empty of most things but it was great stomping about in the snow.
oohhh in which case EvaN double yummy!
Snow is so strange with that cotton wool feeling under your feet.
panko works better than regular breadcrumbs if you actually want something to have a little crunch to it. ;)
So, EvaN, you play with computers, is that about the height of it?
bbl
*makes a note to book EvaN to host a cookery demo in the PB one day*
Just as long as she doesn't go all Nigella on us.
hello everyone
EvaN does have the wonderful decolletage so she could compete there.
((Mom)) good morning
hi ((Mom))
Hi Mom
(((Annie))) good morning
((Nono)) good morning and ((FMitch)) good afternoon
Just so long as she doesn't go all frufru and pouty lipped.
EvaN tha is not Nigella - it is too late for her!
Hello, Mom.
good afternoon Haz
I know, she's got the chest but she'd need to use a wig to get the Nigella hair toss.
Ah now perhaps that would be the USP for EvaN no pout, no long hair but great recepies and a great dress sense.
Stye, class and good food - what more could you ask for? Oh and we could get ruru to provide the wine.
oh my, i escape the chog for just a moment and return to quite the... erm, flattery??
;)
yes indeed :)
we are setting you up with your own babble TV prog.
well, trust me, my cooking skills are nothing to be admired. im pleased when my dishes come out merely edible. :)
but at least i try!
exactly!
It's better than resorting to ping cookery.
ping cookery?
you'll get the hang of it Eva
Microwave. Shove it in, take it out when it pings.
the good ole micro
However the micro does have it's place in the kitchen.
hah. thats my preferred method, but only when im just cooking for one...heh
The woman who did the hygiene in catering course I was doing hadn't much of a good word to say about microwaves.
She reckoned they weren't to be trusted because they cook unevenly, leaving pockets of bacteria to multiply and multiply and plot your downfall.
hello all!
TO!!!!!!!!!!!
Hello To!
isnt that what husbands do, anyway?
Hello Owl!
((TO)) good morning
oops sorry Haz for the overuse of the ! was carried away for a moment.
We'll forgive you this time.
teas
LOL EvaN.
thanks TO, didn't have that one
pour them out whist in the PB TO :)
oopsie
:P
so, since i have chopped all my hair off, i have found the part i love the most -- i dont have to wash it as often, and (on days like today) it looks so interesting when i wake up that i just spray and go!
I'd love to have hair that looks interesting in the morning. Mine always looks as though it's been in a losing battle with a hedge.
ive got the "bedhead" look today. most literally. :)
de
lol@haz
Hi Tceicher
hi
struggling with the d's
Hello tc.
I have only managed to get 7 so far
well, hello there TC! not used to seeing you type more than 2 letters at a time. :)
Sing out for clues if you want.
hello tc
you have me beat by 2......i always forget to check the no chat box on lickety and end up sprinkling the chat log with 2 letters
Argh I still have the 24 words that I found first thing this morning. Will attempt to find more later.
oh fm, even i have 95
im dead-ev4 at 98. :)
LOL (hugs TO)
stats please for top o?
(Drumming fingers impatiently, wondering when people are going to pick up the pace)
have discovered that the last 5 d's start with the same three letters if that helps
Don't look over here Haz.
oc5 - all at sea
but did do sucky duck over tea this morning - does that count?
oh*hangs head in shame* it's my impatience
and thanks for keeping me company in the pb :P
I suppose so. Reluctant granting of pardon.
im assuming haz has finished already?
*OK everyone - get up out of your seats and stand by your desk/bed/armchair* ... Over to Haz ........
fm: what?
I finished earlier, EvaN, yes.
sucky duck = sudoku
oh. ms ha don't be all innocent - what do you have to bring into pb?
i do sudoku every morning. i have completed every single sudoku puzzle since Dr God created iron sudoku. :)
me too EvaN
time to scoot, see you all later. ((Hugs))
I do that before looking at the grid.
You should be in line for some sort of award, you two.
Bye, Mom, see you later.
bye mom, have a good day
me too, FM! i also have a few sudoku apps on my phone. :)
BRB all, need to go turn in my form for a parking pass... back in a flash!
Right I am going to make one last forray for the birds, their water and food in the garden so will be back in a while.
As Scott said: I may be a while.
see you later fm. i must go over to work pc and log in, bbs
Wrap up warm!
bye Haz, enjoy your day
It wasn't Scott....
bye mom
OK I will research it and submit it as homework tomorrow
:)
This is the sort of trivia you need to know if you're ever going to be on Eggheads.
It was on that Scott expedition, you're right on that.
It's OK I am going and will hang my head and weep quietly in the snow whilst giving the birds my last crust.
clue for the 9 please?
such drama
Oh FM, you'll get me weeping for my hardness of heart and nitpicking....
ev9 - disappeared quietly, faded away.
so nice to be on with you all today
Don't start with the kleenex but I did save all those links so will enjoy them again and for now ... a double back flip and pompoms as a flourish as I poof.
I know, it's like the old days, TO.
lol
FM had better watch out in case she slips a di4 with all that back flipping.
ok must square away my absence with work, bb shortly
i would slip a di4 if i tried to di5
haz tried evaporated but not working. hmmm
I know - there should be signs up warning uninhibited dancers of the dangers at the di5.
ev9 - past tense of ev8.
*chuckle*
e plus four lettered weather indicator that sounds proud, then first letters of what a landscape painter paints.
No, evaporate won't work without a p or an r in the grid.
got it. super clue.
i would like an r. i miss it.
Glad it worked, mkg.
An r would be nice or a y in the right place would be good, TO.
and im back!
We could nearly use you as part of a clue for the 9, EvaN.
that is an 8 though. the 9 is plural i guess
No, it's the past tense.
past tense
ty
got it
Annie, is your back all better again?
this is true. :)
more clues for the 8s please.
there is also a band whose name is a different form of that word. :)
Hazel, Good as new.
Brilliant, Annie, such a relief.
A se8/45 babbler is one who knows lots of babblets.

ty got it
what a wasted b.
clue for the loan i word bottom line of grid plz
te8/40 looks like a double plural for te5/10. Number after nine with a couple of vowels.
in4/4 - babblet
haz both in 4 4 s come from i that is on right side of grid. is there another one?
is there more than one te 5 10? not getting that 8
It's the hairy nosed dolphin, it's appeared lots of times.
nm got the 8.
yes, more than one
ty
stil didnt get in
in4/4 - like the country of Calcutta, but minus the d.
hi all! just popping in for a few with 55 left . . .I have 6 8s -- Ev, Sa, Se, Te, and Vax2. What am I missing?
le8
tyvm haz! ;-)
le8 being a past tense of le6/27.
You're welcome.
tart, past tense of le 6
go it! Had the 6, not the 8! Thanks!
Extra !!! just for Haz since she loves them so much ;-) *ducks*
No problem, fruittart.
I'll just capture them and put them in the 'reserved for emergencies' box.
i need help with the non-self-centered VA8
Waste not, Want not.
oh, NM. they are BOTH self-centered. :)
pt evaN
EvaN - it looks like your wedding was lovely and you were a radiant bride. Congrats!
oh dear, my friend just posted on FB a crossy-riffic recipe for bacon chocolate chip cookies.
thankyou tart! it was a glorious day. :)
someone said bacon....
good morning everyone
Good morning, crossy.
wow -- not only do you use the bacon in the recipe, you save the fat, chill it, and put it into the cookies too. right up your alley, crossy!
howdy haz
ooh, and bourbon too!
hi crossy, knew that would be you out
*bring, of course
death by cookies!:))
top right hand l if somebody could
bichon, it's lo5/10 - beginning and ending with same letter.
sounds like an interesting cookie. Must be productive now :P *poof*
now i want a cookie:/
ty haz
You're welcome, bichon.
I must start my day, bye dear babblers ( 33 left for rlater )
coookies! Hello all. I am cheerful person as I have been informed that I shall recieve cranberry Oatmeal cookies in the mail.
o.0 someone brought bacon bourbon cookies in4 the office (to share) just yesterday...
Bye Annie.
hi everyone :o) Don't you hate it when you sleep a second time and thus wake up late? :o(
When will the cookies of wonderment arrive, red?
Probably on Wednesday. He is baking this weeked...
Hello, mdf. I imagine it can't be pleasant but maybe you're making up for lost time.
Hi Dfm I did that this morning. but it was such a good thing. I feel better than I have in a long time.
Be sure to tell us what they're like, they sound good!
i need to figure out what kinda holiday cookies im making this year. i did cake balls last year...
I hope they are. but even if they are terrible, I like being tought of.
good morning all
err thought of.
Hello, trentsnana.
hi trents :o)
I've made four kinds of cookies so far. Number five today.
dfm - were the bacon cookies good?
It's the twelve days of cookies at TNana's house. : P
what kinds of cookies? i need new ideas
i got a cookie press as a shower gift, so im excited to make use of it!
they barely tasted of bacon :o/
pretty much - ha!
cookie presses are fun
Ooo, pretty little cookies at Eva's house.
YAAAAAA FOR COOKIES!!
are you going to make more than se5 different flavors?
lemon drops, a basic butter cookie, peanut butter kisses - kind of standards
i like to do slightly unusual cookies for my holiday cookies. the year before last i did pumpkin oatmeal cookies and i did cranberry ginger bars
There's a bit of a technique with cookie presses, isn't there?
thanks for the clue, mix, and yes I am
mmmm sounds good eva
i dunno haz, but im so4 to find out!
if the dough is too moist, it can be a problem with a press
you've got to get the consistency just right
I haven't even put a de** in what I'd like to make this year
a clue for the top "o", please?
oc5 - Atlantic etc
you can swim in the top o
a large mass of water trent
i am SO far behind this year. normally id be at least halfway done with my shopping, but this year, i dont even have a list made up yet!
duh - thanks
Are there any CO words?
You've got a good excuse, EvaN.
I've got shopping almost done - but no decorating in the house - no tree.....
No co words.
s
There's ages yet, it's only just the start of December.
nbt - yay!
can i just send everyone a card that says "i got married -- sorry!" ??
lol - sure
you've got lots of time yet
OK I am past half way, must go do things I'd rather avoid....grrrr.
Martha Stewart's White Chocolate Gingerbread Blondies are very good. The recipe is on her site.
mmm - sounds good Molly, thnx
so, to make up for how cold i was yesterday (i was sitting here with my space heater on, a shawl across my lap, and a scarf around my neck) i did LOTS of layers today: tights and socks under my pants and a cami under my turtleneck. hoping to stay warm today -- it was only 30-something degrees when i left the house this morning! BRRRR!!!!
ooh, molly, those sound FAB!
i may have to pay a visit to your house this year. ;)
Back again - casserole is cooking and smelling good.
Hello, FM.
we used to get into the Christmas panic mode when our son was younger now we relax, buy each other 1 special gift and we each make a donation to the charity of our choice, all on a pre arranged budget.i have also in the last few years made a 5 foot pre-assembled,pre-wired tree that i can take out of storage and plunk on a table with a red cloth draped over it so tree set up time= 3 minutes flat....no more christmas panic;)))
what kind of casserole
I made a big veg soup from all the old veggies in the fridge
Hi Haz and ((crossy))
((FM))
{{crossy}}
beef, red wine and onions. ruru
hi {{ruby}}! :o)
ev** how did you get into today's grid?
umm. sounds good on a cold day
{{dfm}} how are you?
i see i have retirned just in time
okay Molly - I just bookmarked that recipe - going to take your word for it that they are good and try them this year
hello TO
btw we are alll in today's grid.
Food won't be ready for a while TO but glad to see you back.
Hey TO
hello nana and molly
I went back to sleep this morning and woke up late :o(
hi TO :o)
hi ruby
ruby -- i just weaseled my way right in there. ;)
just some chicken soup for me i fear. and a cuppa
I used to make cookie-press cookies in my ambitious days, now just make sugar cookies by the spoonful
same dough as I use for tarts
lol eva just read back on you dying in the cold at 30f..where do you live? cause we do not even turn the heat on till the toilet bowl freezes over up here lol
*homemade chicken soup on it's way to TO*
our bedroom is less than 60F in the AM
i made 5 or six kinds in the day. i think i may make nurembregers if i am laid up for much longer, they must ne made aheada to mellow
hehe same here crossy :oD
DC area, crossy. we dont have the heat turned on in our house yet -- its actually fairly warm in there. but the stinkin office is so cold!
or pferrnusse, they are my faves
I have a chicken defrosting at the mo for the sole purpose of turning it into soup.
i was NOT created to live north of florida, methinks.
halfway there
better go get something done bbl
loves pfeffernuse!!
geez can't type today! hi ruby, ru, fm, df
Bye, trentsnana.
lol,my mrs is the same.every winter we engage in the war of the therostat.she likes roaring flames,i like even heat without sweating in the living room when i come home lol
bye trents :o)
they are my fave, ruby with peppkakkers second
I have no idea how to spell it, just a wild stab
thermostat
crossy my mom and I do that! :o/
i have a blanket over my permanently once i get home. its not really cold in the house, but i just feel warmer + more snug with a blankie. :)
I don't know those, but I like the idea of sweet and spicy, like sweet and salty
took me an hour to square away work, so much red tape when out more than three days
TO don't worry, I haven't been typing properly for two days or so now...
blankies are a wonderful invention.
i got my mrs,a fuzzy couch bankie,a heating pat womens thermal long johns and a hot water bottle...not sure what to do next..set her on fire maybe....
they are swedish ginger bread. i do pa dutch light ginger cookies and swap for peppakakkers with my sil
good idea to make them while laid up
hahah crossy
very easy and egg less
im going to use the cold as motivation to get back into cooking again -- made my turkey loaf the other night. 45min to an hour in the oven, and the house was toasty warm!
((ruby))
I love my bed - my Mom said why do you need such a big one (it is a big brass bedstead affair) and I said cos I love to be able to spread out in it and roll over.
mrs wants a big king size bed next
how;s the cooking coming, evaN?
a big 4 poster with a pillowtop matteress
was looking at one the other day, would need a step stool for her to get in the thing lol
having a king-size makes it possible to have differing amounts of blankets on the two sides. Husband has twice as many as I
you have got to get one crossy - mine is 6' by 6'3 and is is heaven.
and I am the only one sleeping in it.
i like our old double, she cannot hide, its like i roll over and its good morning darlin! lol
we brought it from the US, but it's very hard to get large-enough sheets here
crossy you are such a sweetheat
thats me, a gentleman at all times;)
sweetheart or maybe my typo works too? *blush*
{loves crossy}
:))
sweetheat is probably more like it FM
Hey ruru!
TO -- turkey loaf is an old standard of mine, so that turned out great. the panko-crusted chicken i did last night was good, but i forgot to pound the chicken thinner before breading it, so the breading got overdone whilst waiting for the chicken to cook. will definitely try that one again and remember to thin the chicken!
actually i love this stage of wedded bliss, for the first 15 years i used to chase her around, now it is her turn;))
hah, darling husband loves that im always cold -- it guarantees that i cuddle up with him at night!
you are the persofication of adoration - we all know that you are both besotted with eachother and we love that.
a tip evan : did you lower the heat and cover tha pan to get the inside to cook?
:))
hi all
I have never seen a man write about his wife like you do crossy outside of published literature.
I still have my blankie from when I was little. Now dog sleeps on it
Hello, Boo.
Once you switch to a king size bed, there is no going back.
lol fm,i may metion her from time to time....
mention
hello bichon
Bonjour ruby. How did the opthamologist visit go?
no, i didnt. i will file that tip away. instead, i was too busy working on the citrus butter sauce and the side-dish of carrots.
we canceled as husband didn't feel up to the trip and then we had a huge blizzard yesterday, so it was just as well. I was relieved. Thank you for asking, bichon.
My Mom got rid of my blankie :(((
also the ovenis your friend, in these cases, in a foil covered dish at 350 while sauce is making
hi bichon
FMitch, get a substitute
Hi Boo
hello boo
hi boo
It was pale blue and yellow and cream squares - has anyone seen it?
My granddaughter has her father's blankie
its all THOSE tips i need to learn. the things you learn from trial + error. :)
last year,or was it the year before,i did buy her this wonderful innuit style white fur coat(not made with real pelts) with matching white muuckuks with tassels and a nice matching scarf and mitt set.i call her my innuit princess when she dons that on cold days with her long black hair cascading down the front of it as it spills out of the fir lined hood
you wil, evan. my first meat loaf ould have held up an elephant
crossy, you are so loving
TO, my turkey loaf is pretty amazing. :)
don't be afraid to use simple repcipes for siple things, the ones that teach basic techniques
do any of you babble ladies overseas know of or use an AGA cooking range?
i use betty crockers cookinf for two, still
121 and dinner time. Bye everybody
I don't have an aga myself, but lots of people, especially in the country, do.
and better homes has cooking school recipe series that does just that
Bye, ruby.
bye ruby
what is aga range?
bye bye ruby
i hear great things about them and was looking for some first hand reviews
on7?
i just try recipes i find that sounds interesting and do-able. then i make notes about what i did wrong or what needs to be changed...
when we re-did the house, we thought about a Viking range, but as it comes with an ankle chain, I thought UH UH!
I know a lady who has a pink aga - it's a type of stove. They're basically ready to cook all the time.
the lower right t
it is a cooking stove with 2,3,or 4 ovens that are brick lined and all heated to a specific temperature from a central heat source
on7 - compound word taking in who you are, kind of.
the lower right t?
ti6/21 pt of colored
thank you
one oven is set for roasts,on for broil, one for breats and one as a slow cooker or a warming oven and they are ready to go at all times
ty Haz
ty ruby
breads
No problem, bichon.
OMG someone just sent this to me, it is hysterical
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8-0WVfj 76bo&feature=player_embedded#!
that is neat cross, what is the heat source?
You're right, TO, it's brilliant.
the best i have ever seen!
Do I need to get the kleenex out again Haz?
the heat source in the older ones can be wood or coal, but all the new ones are either propane or natural gas or a dual fuel gas or electric
I'm convinced that the white cat that refuses to sing is Herin's Pandora.
i was looking at the propane one with 4 ovens and 4 gas burners on top
What is the cat's name,Haz
No, it's just very funny, FM. Animals singing Deck the Halls.
my eyes are so red from earlier today.
hrm. i may have decided on some holiday cookies! well, at least i picked a few recipes i like...may have to narrow down...
Pandora is the white cat belonging to herin, her black cat is Lucius. It may well be in there as well. I like to think that Scrabbler's bunnies contributed.
good names
do you bake much, evan?
red from?
lol at haz you may be right! even a few ru dogs in there
laughing and crying at vids that were share ruru - they were great.
occasionally. i usually do cookies every year for christmas, but last year i opted for cake balls...
the no bake rum & crumb type?
what
The chog had got a bit heavy as it is JBV's husbands funeral tomorrow and there was bad news about NB but the vids gave a good lift to us all.
what is a ru dog
the type of dogs you own.
A golden retriever.
oh.. lol
ok i heard the latter, but not the former.
how is NB?
not implying that ru is a dog. or looks like one :P
no one knows ruru
*woof*
can you share?
<---- sometimes acts like a dog
Looks like ruru is auditioning for a new version of that Deck the Halls video.
hehehe
perhaps it shoudl be renamed Deck the Hell ....
I must say I pretty much suck at dance numbers
only if vi chimes in XD
She'll be getting tuned up soon for the belting out of the Christmas carols.
Tuning up being an approximate term for what Vicuna does.
email, you lot
Oh I hear her the other day recording greetings on the Christmas cars via that new fangled microchip thingy.
Ta, TO.
lol have you seen the target commercial about that
I can't seem to decipher from the chat log what is going on with NB, but I will send out some generic prayers for him.
I give up - you all know I type rubbish but at leasst I finally got fireworks!
whats going on with NB?
Hooray, FM!
congrats FM!
EvaN - you still here>?
im here!
There was some talk just after the filp EvaN - and we are concerned.
was hoping you might be able to find out to be honest.
*heads to the slip*
*flip
vaned vanes
oh um, err hello!
oh dear. going to try to see if i can get in touch with him...
It's ok, I'm going, don't need to send me.
yay fm, you sly fox!
liz?
Indeed it is, but off to PB now.
entered those already liz
That's some entrance, lizmac. How's Stranraer?
I must be allergic to Liz, sneezing like mad - almost stopped but now got a nose bleed.
Maybe it's lynxxx's Angel Trumpet flowers? She said the perfume was strong.
Oh don't make me laugh I will splatter bodd all oer the place. Back in a bit.
Hi Liz
Oh, avoid bodd splatter, the CSI people will be on4/4 you.
disc s
*snort* Oh that was a bad idea.
hi beth! :o)
hi all anyone want anything from th pb?
ve 6/27?
Here's a cautionary tale for would-be burglars. http://tinyurl.com/35vd7g8
beth you were completely in yesterday's grid o.0
presidentia ve** past tense
ve6/27 - ve plus Michael Jackson's most altered feature.
sl6,27 maybe?
there are two there haz..hmmm
sl6/27 - looks like a badly spelled version of what keeps your arms warm in a garment.
sl6/27 to separate a thread in4 filaments
ev8?
ev8/60 to disappear
*disappear gradually.
ev8 - a plus a proud sounding weather indicator (4 letters) then the first letters of what a landscape painter paints.
clue for en 5 please
en5/10 (Metaphys.) real things
Thank you, dfm & Haz
You're welcome, Erda.
haz I like that clue :o)
That's good, dfm.
back for a few
ty dfm & haz. Fireworks.
Well done, mixi!
congrats mixi :o)
real things?
en5/10 - en plus a Spanish aunt
One thing is an ....ty, add the first vowel
pls try that on 7 again?
1 + me
doh! ty
i think im blind to these D-words
i am blind to the upper right l
lo5/10 - starts and ends with the same letter.
hi all
time to heat up leftover turkey loaf... BRB
ty. i have no idea what the remaining 3 l words could be
je did yo get my email today?
Hello, jmc.
TO not that I saw I will check my spam box
hi jmc
*pouts in offense*
And I must head off - walk time with the dog before it gets too late.
spam - IMAGINE THAT
Pouting in sympathy. TO with spam?
hi jmc :o)
have a good walk, haz. doyou walk her no matter the weather?
I'm pouting and shaking my fist in jmc's direction. Shocked!
ea since SHE emailed ME first
I try to get her out most days, TO, fresh air and all that.
You could sue for hurt feelings.
*sniff*
see you soon.
I'll be a character witness. This is the same woman who claims that she remembers dfm by thinking 'ditsy FM'. I rest my case.
Wait wait why are you shaking your fist at me
Toodle-oo!
lol I'm in trouble now
(Putting TO in spam, jmc - horrors!)
I couldn't find the email anywhere TO
*gone*
I didn't put her there I thought maybe that is why i couldn't find it
bye haz
mmmmm..... turkey loaf with green beans _ cheese masher-taters...
okay, that makes me hungry... :o/
elegant lunch *looks at chicken sandwich*
heh, its called "leftovers" ;)
TO could you please resend the email? My yahoo account had a major hiccup earlier when i was trying to email some files
I've got a rough and ready lunch nearly ready although it is dinner time here.
hell i hope not spoofed. you sent me mail at work about this weekend
my chicken is left over too -- $7 for an oven roasted chicken make 2 suppers and 3 lunches
sorry TO it was the only address I had :-(
i am now logged off. since i am at home and using air card. i will just rephrase using home email
hello all - not getting the clue for the ev8
that is good value jmc, my kin of shopping.
you could not know i was home
thats great jmc! dear hubs doesnt really DO leftovers, so i really need to master the art of turning leftovers into something else, so he doesnt recognize them!
that would be better and I will delete the work address TO
A roasted chicken starts out as a roasted chicken and we eat the legs and lots of skin; slice the breast for sandwiches two days; chicken salad with scraps and then last tid bits into a stirfry
and use the left overs and carcass to make stock.
well the work was ok for daily things.
i will do that if i make, say, sloppy joes... sloppy joe one night, then i put some over a salad, then i wrap it up in a tortilla...
although when I was feeding my hubby and son I got one roasted chicken dinner and then one set of sandwiches and the rest into texas tamale pie
chicken leftovers have many uses: pot pie is a snap, also chicken divan, chicken croquettes
also queadillas
what is great when they have the chickens on sale for $5
i have yet to try cooking a whole bird... but i could try that when they have the pre-cooked ones on sale!
chicken noodle casserole or chicken rice casserole if a little white sauce is ok by you
I used to make my own stock FM -- I have a bag in the freezer where I would throw carcasses and ends and skins of onions and celery and such and when it got full i would cook it down
evan I haven't roasted a chicken in decades
whole bird is easy with timer. do you have a bacis cookbook with measures and roasting times etc? youus eth epop up but gauge it by the raost times so sides come out in time
Same here, still do.
*bows down to jmc and TO*
it is easy but I have no time
I make my own chichen stock and veg stock but will buy in beef stock.
oh evaN, trust me - just takes some guidance and practice, must fins out what both of you like
Perdue's pop up timers are a beautiful thing.
well, thats part of the issue. he is a super picky eater.
if you want any of the listed recipes just yell
i have never made stock.
It is a most satsifying thing TO
id love to make a thick, chunky soup/stew like my dad sometimes makes, but i dont think chris would eat it. hes not really a soup guy.
you take a few ingedients and cook them up and then the fridge/freezer is full of food.
i bread chicken breasts and freeze with wax paper. can cook in oven or fry healthy even if no time to thaw. and can parmigiana or tons of things - chicken fingers served with honey mustard dressing
I have just started making my own vegetable stock. I keep onion ends, celery and carrot ends, broccoli stems and asparagus stems in a zip lock freezer bag. When it gets full enough, I make stock out of it.
i don't do gravy but in a pinch use cream of chicken soup for it
wtg Molly that is great.
molly i would love to learn that
that is what I did when I was younger molly
Eva, you could make soup and freeze it in individual containers just for you. As long as it doesn't have noodles in it. They get mushy if you freeze them.
I recommend Texas Tamale pie for left over chicken. corn meal mush in the bottom of a baking pan, sauteed onion garlic chili powder and left over chicken next, then top with cheese and bake.
sounds good
would like recipe
i dont bother cooking things for just me, unless im SUPER craving it. we eat most of our dinners together, and i usually end up bringing leftover dinner for lunch. so not many opportunities for me to eat something he wouldnt eat...
nice tip, molly.
Now is your chance to change that EvaN!
i am enjoying chat, ty all.
TO, like I said, I just save the vegetable ends and stems. Then I cover them with water, add salt, pepper and some herbs and cook for about two hours. It's great stock and it makes wonderful soup.
maybe i will ask dad his "recipe" for whatever the soup is... the other challenge is that we have a small freezer, so theres not much room in there for things we arent actually eating...
TO did you get my email?
i see the potato recipe - have never boiled first, will try. love oregano in them and onions.
Oh that is the only way to get the best roasties!!!!!
yes ty, fm dear. did you liek the christmas festivities i sent?
i did those for thanksgiving -- my first time doing them. they didnt turn out as crispy as his, but were passable. will have to try again -- i also slipped some parsnips in with mine. ;)
am saving them for tomorrow dear TO.
oh yes, it is getting late there. je and i are trying to attend
Oh parsnips and a few small quartered onions work well too
i am looking forward to live peeps dioramas!
sigh i was blocked from the chog for 5 minutes
mmmm slightly charred parsnips mmmm
* she doesn;t knoe about the super secret babbler blocker*
that is the way to do it is slip a few in and then say *but you ate them before* with a surprised look on your face
*sulking* I just assumed it was FM's revenge
id never had parsnips until a few years ago. my dad told me he had made my favorite roasted potatoes, but they were really roasted parsnips! i immediately fell in love. :)
Oh jmc!
i like all root veggies
well haz is clearly never going to let me forget admitting my mnemonic devise!
EvaN I was drawn in the same way but they are so tasty!
I had thought better of you but then there i was all blocked from talking about food
There are sone things we all have to live with jmc, Just don't mention my greek dancing tunic when lynxxx is around.
lol it will be immediately forgotten *falls to the ground giggling*
i just saw parsnips in the grocery one day and desided they would go nicely with my turnips
*hope you fell in an elegant fahsion*
did the same with rutabagas
always elegant except when I blow coffee out my nose from laughing
You can make soup for one out of small cans of broth. Throw in some leftover meat and veggies, maybe some rice. Voila.
I keep working on that too though --- I am open to suggestions
lol jmc - luv ya!
:-) back at ya!
<==never blows jack daniels out nose as it would a) hurt and b) be a terrible waste of JD
a) would def be the worst
and I am off to the kitchen to serve up dinner.
bye FM
bye FM
ack! *runs to pb for remarks about no4/4*

her HER! LOL :P It's a bit of a strain on the knee, but it's ok. Just. I can certainly feel it's not very strong, but it manages :)
Sorry - you know how it is , all dogs become the same sex as your own dog!

evening everyone
Asleep on my bed! he bothers Ken (it is light here just before 6am) who then gets up and goes to gym, then he jumps on the bed and stays there until I get dressed a couple of hours later. King of the Castle!
hi Katie
ds
oops - sorry
Helena, do you have the place in jail, alt spelling?
Helena - drop one of the double cons
Hello all. Just popping in. Nice to see so many friends from England, Great Britain, and Scotland.
ahhh! thanks!
very sensible boy :D
heya stigmere
hi Stidgmere
Hello jacq. I have been playing rather sporatically lately and lurking rather than chatting. Sometimes it is just the way it is. Hi lynxx.!
hello stidgemere
this is a good grid for monkeying, lots of odd words & abbrev
i know what you mean stigmere, sometimes there isn't time to chat and babble
Hi TO, nice to see you here. Is it as cold where you are as in New York State?
And of course, jacq, I am never, never out of sorts and feeling crabby.
lol i was being diplomatic, i feel the same sometimes, everybody does
I tend to come when I'm out of sorts and crabby - it helps me lol
Diplomacy is not alive and well in most quarters it seems. If you can't say something nice about things, don't say anything at all. Why are the people who are in charge of things forget these simple maxims?
Restarting the Babble server. Hang on to your hats. Should be back up in a minute or two.
Boy, that didn't go smoothly. I'm slowly getting things running again. Hopefully everything is okay now.
Things seems to be working on this end!
Babble works, but I think my brain is broken.
I think I lost my hat.
Haha, if only Dr. God could restart our brains... mine feels pretty mushy, too.
helllo all, my monitor is not working again. using marigold's computer
also, hello to the people I missed coming in while I was busy :o)

hi, nan
hi C'nan
i have done lots of 'on' insted of 'one' of late. how annoying. must be more mindful
you'll have to talk to on7.40
ty for that, lyn :)
yw - it is a lovely word, quaint
still looking for that ev 8-9 combo that I couldn't find last night
I'm sure something ends in 'tition' but I have no idea what. This grid needs an R...
it rhymes with a type of light lumin**etc, starts with a Babblers name that ends in 'aut'
Babblers name ends in -onut, sorry
finally -- ty lynxxx :)
does anyone have the ce 5/14?
Ev**onut & teenage adol****nt may be a clearer clue for anyone else
both ce5.14 are plurals
thanks - i always miss the plurals!
Lyn it's not clearer to me LOL
Glan - starts with a name - like not straight but ev** but change the second vowel
what clue is that for lynx?
ev8/9 Cos
thanks lyn - got it now
ty
I finally finished.
Hooray for Annie!!
maybe another angle on the ev .. a popular singing group who sang "Immortal".... and then drop the last 3 letters of their name

Hi Diane!
Minus 12 outside...... Us paddies are NOT built for this weather!
bloomin g cold here in wales too
That is why whisky was invented.
hooray for whiskey!
LOL Stidg! Now you're talking....
Putting on water to boil for sympathy tea.
Do you have snow in Wales, Glan?
yes we have snow
Tea...shmea.... break out the whikkey!
ot much by US standards but enough to disrupt life - been here since friday - just a couple of inches or 4
for once the east of england has it much worse - around a foot or more
looks like Soodle has had some "whikkey" already
that's enough to disrupt life for a day or three from Baltimore, Maryland and South in the US
We have a babbler that just married...the first four letters of her name and as lynxxxxx just noted "Adol****nce is a difficult age for the ev8, past tense for the 9
the first de5/12 anyone?
Nope, Lynn...... Not succumbed yet, but definitely veering whikkey-ward....
pl. sounds like a prima donna
de 5 rhymes with the edge of your roof
de5.18 - like the green things on trees
hi everyone! may i have a clue for the lone I bottom of fourth column?

i'm having trouble with this dolphin - is it the i on the bottom row?
got it! ty
try in**mate Dawg
ys
yes
what is this hairy nosed dolphin?
glant, its a babblet in babbleland.....in 4/4
i always confuse the first in4 with the second in4 for defs.
nbt, 33 remaining
a babble in babbland? I'm even more confused now LOL
The hairy nosed dolphin is a frequent visitor to Babble. IN 4/4 Opposite of out and two vowels...
google, river dolphin for the in4.4
I have to start thinking about dinner, bye dear babblers
ah, I think I have grasped the hairy nosed dolphin but don;t understand how it got its name
Bye Annie.
bye Annie
a Babblet Glan? just means a word you will find a lot in Babble - but rarely anywhere else
Soodle, a shot of Jameson's went down my pipe for your pup last night. Long life to him in The Summerlands.
Glan... my advice on the hairy nosed dolphin is 'Don't try to understand it..... Just remember it'.
haha, babblet is like those words you see all the time in crosswords, right? like the volcano in this grid?
Ah Molly, thank you. There were a lot of tears shed here between yesterday and today. I appreciate your support. (Molly)))
babblets are evil.
Hi Babblers.

I'm still wondering what is going on with NB. There have been "hints" here today that all is not well in his world. My good thoughts and prayers are out.
I saw her on earlier, Moll. She was saying the burial was at 11.00am. I just wondered if she had checked in afterwards.

I will do thanks Mom. Just off two minds. I never had a Grandpa. Grandma has adopted me bless her. Helping at the wake on Wednesday. Helped last night making sandwiches. The hordes descended and we used a loaf of bred
bread
I am sure you felt better helping and gransma appreciated it
thank you! Can I help with clues anyone?
Roses, I still have 105 left, wouldn't know where to start
but thank you
My pleasure. Clues anyone?
Mom there is about 50 decedents combined. That is Grans sisters children grand children and great grand kids. Gran thinks about 125 people will turn up Wednesday. Too many family members. I had trouble with the handful there last night
oh my goodness. I wish I lived closer to help you
Mom it is ok. That is why I love Grans house. There is a cellar. I can hide there :D
If not, I'm off to pull together some supper for this rainy night. Good luck herin! I'm sure everyone will pitch in and help when they see what needs to be done. Funerals are like that - brings out the best in us all for some reason.
Thanks Roses
:D Herin
Have a good evening Roses
Roses too many freeking people. Bloody Catholics
You don't have to take them on, just float among them, angel that you are.
Just a thought.
Bloody Catholics indeed
:-)
Awww RThank you Rose. Grans house is awesome. It looks quite small but it held 6 kids
what a nice compliment Roses. Herin is a sweetheart
Night all.
Poor Gran looks so lost. They were married for 62 years
good night Roses
oh wow Herin
that is about how long my grandparents were married when Grandpa died, Grandma lived for 11 years after that
Yep and they always acted like they were just married.
grandma and grandpa didn't do that :)
grandma was 14 when they married
I remember recently Gran bent over to grab something and he slapped her butt.
lol
Then there was the time Gran had the shortbread I made and she said to Pa whilst wagging it under his nose ''Do you want it???' Then quickly eatiing it
what a character

When he was in the Air force in the 1940s he stole a plane and did a fly over one of the country towns because he wanted to.
B.f is ignoring it all
Mom, are you talking to me or herin?
n.m.
Brookie that was at me. B.fs Pa died
Herin...
So sorry to hear that, herin.
OM I forgot to send you my class results. High Distinction Average.
Herin, that is wonderful news!
Brookie he was unwell for a while but we weren't told. I think they didn't want to worry us
Congratulations
When did he pass away?
Wednesday. We were going to see him yesterday. About 2 months ago b.fs mum sent him a text to say that the ''oldies'' were unwell. He never got the message. Found out only last week that he was ill
Herin, do they live near you?
What was the illness, if I may ask?
Brain thing. Not sure what really. They do live near us.
It must be hard for your b.f. to get closure on something that he didn't have time to mentally prepare for.
that is good, then you can visit Gran and keep tabs on her
I found out Pa and Great Pa built the house in 1948ish. And then when Gran wanted it to expand Pa fixed it
Brookie he is being the typical male. Not saying much. But I am there for him.
he will need you Herin
I'm sure he appreciates that.
I know he will. He is a big softy under it al
the service will not be until next week?
Herin, my condolences on your loss. Prayers out.
((Molly)) hello
Babble has had its share of losses this week
Hi molly!
I did read that about JBV. Did I miss something else?
Mom yes next week. That is when Father is available
What happened with JBV?
Soodlebum's little Buster (her dog) was hit by a car yesterday and didn't make it
Oh Herin, I hope that won't be too hard on the family
Yikes.
Her husband passed away
O no to Soodle :( Poor puppy
he was buried yesterday
There really is a lot of sad news.
JBV's husband that is
I did see that Mom.
So sad
JBV had just retired
Sorry to ask was it sudden?
she said that he had illnesses before but was always able to bounce back, but this time he wasn't able to
That is too sad.
I am despretly trying to think if she is on FB
it is Herin
They were married 33 years
I think I have that number correct
hey mom and all
HI TO
Hi ((TO))
Mom is JBV on FB? Scratching my brain here
I don't know. TO, do you know?
Hi TO
i don't.
Ok. I have this mental blank at the moment
wish I could help you Herin
That is ok. I just don't want to be a bad friend and not send a personal message if I have JBV as a friend. I just can't remember
i am listening to an a cappella goup auditioning for musikfest while babbling
how are they, TO?
they are very good at what they do. the question is would their show tune like repetoire have an audience? google the accidentals
will do brb
listening to a sort of be bop swing forties tune at present
O were at TO?
on our account for electronic auditions
TO that sounds wonderful though
they pop up readily on google
Mom. Pa built the cellar in their house by hand when he was in his late 60s. I swear he would have painted the whole outside of the house recently if Gran hadn't stopped him.
ah, lovely rendition of "where or when"
I just heard "rave on"
wow Herin, he was quite the worker
Yep.
He loved his gadgets. Sent a text a few weeks ago saying ''Help I am stuck in the cellar''. In a panic FIL rings Gran and she says 'He is fine silly bugger drank to much port can't get up the stairs. He can stay there''
lol Herin
It was so sweet yesterday Gran said ''Pa and I talked about moving this and that around''.
oh Herin
what do you think, mom? you have to like standards & show tunes a la manhattan transfer
I love show tunes but I can't find the one you listened to. Rave On was okay
they have Christmas songs to listen to as well
buddy holly's rave on?

But....*excited voice* we fly out Sunday for a week in New Orleans!!! *big grin*
great jilly
doing the big easy eh, take your water wings just in case.
hi all
how nice, jilly!!!

lol...will do dawg...we've never been, so this should be really fun!! And a little warmer...
Hi doren!
are the folks in UK still snowed in?
cold enough for snow here today... yessterday tons of rain and wind (no power in our school for about four hours... such fun
hi doren!
Jilly, ah chere, tell all the chefs on Bourbon street that you are a cold Northern chile. They will spice you right up.
oh new orleans... what fun!
haha Molly :)
ick. *puts warm blankie around doren*
did you get to go home?
great food, great music.
no owl, of course not!
Lil, what are you doing here? Shouldn't you be primping for tomorrow night? : D
TY molly..chuckle...we have already been told that Commanders Palace and Cafe DuMonde are required!!
going up to boston tomorrow so really need to finish these last ten words and go pack
YOU MUST GET BEIGNETS AT CAFE DU MONDE!!!
geez what do you do with a pack of kids and no power?
oh no dorens hands over hot mug of soup...
Yep...warned not to inhale as the approach your mouth...lol
everyone must do that... and then go back again cause they are so good
TO...drink heavily.
our teachers were very resourceful, i must say, they were impressive
Oh Dorens...we LOVE Boston....
i just kind of wandered around and checked on folks... there was an emergency generator which supplied juice for about three hours to most classrooms (but not my office)
brrrrr, Dorens! i'd walk around just to keep warm!
jilly my grandkids are there, so i go once a month. saturday taking my four year old to see the nutcracker ballet.. she is so excited
See, I was right. Dorens is speaking in code. Emergency generator = secret bar...juice = booze.
sounds great
luckily the cold weather came today... yesterday it was warm enough, actually, just dark and dreary and frightfully windy
hello i am off the sauce for a couple of months, woe is me
that will be such fun, doren! :-D give the princess an extra hug from me!
va8/60 pls?
that does sound fun! I love the Music and the story!
indeed stid... and how has stidkid fared today after yesterday's mishap
?
TO,think of how healthy you are being. And you will dream of little angels flitting about instead of bizarro stuff.
i have never needed booze to have odd dreams
past tense of a word i wouldn't have thought would be past tensed... the next is the plural and it makes more sense
owl why no sauce? diet?
I never drink TO, you can hang with me...
well, as I related a little while ago -- he didn't turn on his phone today either. BUT . . . tom just pulled into the driveway with the kid, so I think things are better.
ty this gird is all about ridiculous past tense
i'm just a wino, that's all
and I have to take the younger stidkid to a rehearsal....
i don;t much but it's the holidays and i hate not being able to choose
back again later. *poof*
I have other vices.
no. bleeding ulcer
by stid
oh my goodness... i missed that. sorry
Oh that is unpleasant. I hope it heals well.
ouch TO...did they do an EGD (scope) on you?
Take care driving Stid. *Wonders about Red's "other vices* Muahahahaha
please tell me how to get adhesive from electrodes off of me.
yes safe driviing
nail polish remover
back. the stidkid left his computer unattended at the high school today ... and surprisingly, someone stole it!
*Passing bland food and weak tea to TO*
I sure hope he didn't need any of the information that was on it...
mostly sugar.
and very hot baths, I know they are wasteful, but...
wow they have tracking software here for that
lost my wallet this week. (suppose someone stole it, from wherever i managed to misplace it). tell him i commiserate
anyway, back again another time. the kid will be unhappy about the consequences.... *repoof*
Opps I dropped of to sleep. It is mid day here.
molly, booze is only restriction
Nail polish remover=acetone....TO
nothing wrong with a little nap herin
naps are awesome!
Red, you are a long distance runner. How is sugar a vice? I thought runners needed sugar.
wow, you mean i waas right? i said nailpolish remover, but wasn't sure why i thught that
*hands stiff cup of coffe to herin*
ty. tried scrubbing and alcohol, heard olive oil
Thanks guys. I really need to shift my bum off the couch and get these suits lodged at the cleaners
Yep, they package it for hospitals as "Adhesive Remover" charge a bundle..but all it is is acetone.
sorry to hear, doren- any idea where?
somewhere in my mind i've heard acetone (nail polish remover). think i've used it. think exhusband the doctor told me this sometime in a past life
not at all owl. i'm such a ditzbrain lately it could have been anywhere, since monday nite
Molly, some sugar is fine, but I would rather eat cake than meat... and I need to eat protien...its a vice, cookies...pies...
And TO, you have to work at that stuff gently, a little at a time. Just keep working it with the acetone until it starts to come off. It's nasty stuff.
I am getting cookies in the mail next week!!!
sorry I know I told this yesterday but I am excited...
Maybe ex mumbled it in his sleep...lol
oh my you did not need $ for three days?!
Don't be sorry. Cookies in the mail is an awesome treat.
Ahh my second vice, the hot steaming bath is prepared. BBL people!
my my...had better focus on grid for awhile...122 left
enjoy red
yes owl i did . that is how i found out i didn't have my wallet on wednesday... was sure i had left in my jacket pocket the night before came home and found it wasn't there - then decided it must have fallen out of my purse in my OTHER office, so went there today and found it wasn't there!
removal of adhesives...goo gone. smells nice too. or any citris oil will remove adhesive as well as WD 40
i have oops and maybe goo gone but on skin?
RIght better go roll off the couch and get stuff done. Loves and blessings
sure,. googone won't hurt your skin
yes, i've used goo gone on my skin. doesn't hurt and like i said, smells nice
it's actually safer than acetone
i'm done.... see y'all tomorrow
whoooo hoooooo DORENS!! hope you find your wallet
bye doren

I'm back! You guys are still on?
Does anyone have a hint for ev10?
or ce 4/6 & ce5/14?
ev 8 and ev 9 Mark ?
That's what I meant. Sorry, pressed wrong button
If you are into music.... the group who sang " My Immortal".... drop the last 3 letters
does the ev8 build off the ev5?
ev8/60 + ev9/84 to fade away
hi everyone :o) ... also I thought it was funny when MJ asked whether anyone was still on and nobody answered XoD
Ha ha. Very funny.
hi dfm :-)
*innocent whistle* I wasn't here then *shifty eyes*
don't think I was either ... ;-)
GUILTY as charged. Hey, dfm
Don't go all innocent on me. You were all here.
guilty? Charged? Do:
thanks dianedecoder, that did it for me
clue for ae5?
did you get the ev word, Mark
good, monkey :-)
Nope. Haven't gotten it.
ce4/6 + ce5/14 Ghanese money
google "My Immortal"
ae5/12 yellow-fever mosquito
or ae + *** moines
(that I didn't know.) ae5/12 mosquito genus previously known as Stegomyia (that I *did* know)
ah tank u
Got ev8. Hint now for ev9 please.
thankyou

Wrong word. ty
Diane...My Immortal was a most excellent clue
It was. Gracias.
love that song, and that group. I haven't used any help sites except lickety's, so I guess the odd googling is allowed ;-)
Pssst...don't tell anyone...I don't believe in the "rules" around here...
playing it now ...
rules? There are rules? :oO
nbt, nbs, no clues in the first hour, no listing until halfway done...etc
guidelines :-)
I still am not sure what nbt and nbs mean
wait, HALFway? :oO
nbt is No Blank Tiles
I'm down to 13 words... going back to the beginning and ploy my monkies with bananas !
NBT, no blank tiles. It means you have one word out of each of the 25 tiles in the grid. NBS, no blank stats. It means you have one tile in each of the Word stats tiles, like one 4, one 5, etc.
If you have one word for each letter on the grid
Hello, bichon
okay..... I sort of don't play that way... I'm a systematic creature lol
I think everyone should play the way they like. It's a game.
so it's sort of a competition when the grid first flips... as I see players declaring those things
And I don't think checking Morewords or A2Z wordfinder is any different than "monkeying" aka randomly typing in possibilities.
yup.... "I do it, my way"..... la la la la la
Oh that first hour looks like serious business to me. You will never see me there. Uber competitive.
Molly, I agree. People will get clues from the chat log, but think that's different than using the list
well in monkeying, I just use word values... and I haven't used morewords or A2Z
I know. I laugh when I see people asking for clues in the chat log before they have listed.
Can i have a hint for te8?
and I love the game.... good exercise for the brain.... I believe I'm beginning to think in "Babble-ese"
oooh, I need that one too Mark... in fact I need 4 te words... just starting to work on them
monkeying is different than using morewords or grep search, because morewords and grep can be done more systematically...
I've just had a new washer and dryer delivered.... they are hooking them up now. ... excited ! Imagine being excited about laundry appliances !!
I started out 50 years ago with a wringer washer and a clothes line... LOL ( but I've had upgrades along the way ! )
now the clothes lines are back strong, and get that wringer washer back out cause we cannot afford the hydro for the dryer ;) evening all;)
I still hang out clothes :-) Hi crossy !!
hi crossy! :o)
in ontario hydro is expected to rise 10% every year for the next 5 years;((((
Hi crossy!
I like hanging clothes out, the clothes feel better...
howdy diane and dfm and howdy to you mark
some areas do not allow a clothes line... even those little umbrella type ones.... and yet they talk about us going "green"....
Diane, I just got a new washer and dryer too. After putting up with the crappy end of the other two, I tell those appliances that I love them every day.
and the sheets and towels smell soooooo nice
ve6,27 ???
i do not hang them here now,it is minus 6 c,they would be frozen solid and crossy hates beating ice out of clean clothes
never mind!
ve6/27 having many ve4/7s
ve + proboscis
deep breaths lilM:))
tank u dfm and diandecod
ty diane
i found it already
Retractable indoor clotheslines are wonderful.
we hang them in the basement next to the dehumidifier during winter... only when it's too cold do we use the drier...
be right back.... gotta check things out
I can't get the ve6/27
i love those unbrella line contraptions
umbrella
mark, it's ve + the facial feature you smell with

did chicken quarters tonight in da oven with a nice coating of spiced bread crumbs mixed with romano cheese, some aldente rigatoni pasta with a cream sauce with bacon bits and steamed veggies with butter;)))
are you guys in here all the time
crossy, that makes me hungry, and I just had a buffet dinner...
No, but I'm here when I can be. I've played for about a week and a half.
Hello Babblers, how are you tonight?
hi wht :o)
clue for te8 pls?
Hey wht! Welcome to the grid
plural the plural for the second te5,10
oh OK!
howdy wht
tank u whit
I didn't even get the te5 *blush, sigh*
crossy lives in babble smooth;)
The te5 is a number + a Latin ending
hi wht
*puts crossy in a Babble bubble*
te5/10 ribbon
Hi diane, is that your decoder in your icon?
I got the first part but not the second.
nope... that is a ancient roman calendar stone ....
I do have a decoder icon though.... "Enigma".... I'll put it up one day :-))
sa8 ? hint please?
thanks wht.... your clue gave me the 4 te words I needed
Mark, a number + 2/3 of the James Bond author's first name.
I didn't watch James Bond!
lil-monkey sa8 is what the lo7's don't have.
still, you can google the author's name.... * * * Fleming
of course i am missing the lo7
Got it. Ty
LOL... that is funny but a great clue... what the lo 7's DON'T have thanks wht
OK got em both, tanks whit
ev8/9?
our $1.00 coin is called a lo 7
ev8/60 + p.t. ev9/84 to fade away
ty
Trust me Diane, I had no idea what a lo7 was, or a tw7 was until I married a Canadian.
Nor did I know that y'all have bills in color. My husband was lost when he came down here and couldn't organize his bills by color.
do American bills have raised dots to identify them too?
it's easier to separate your bills, that's for certain
they have something so that the blind can discern the bills
Oh yeah. They have numbers and everything! The currency is very recognizable.
oops.... that was you asking. dfm, and we do, don't we
peace people. this was an awesome game. i will totes be back.
yeah we do... I use them to find my bills in my pocket without taking them out...
american and canadian bill identification is easy..i laugh when we get visitors from the south, our money is easy,if you see a 5,it is 5 dollars,a 10 is ten dollars etc lol
Likewise with American money Cross. We have numbers on our bills too. We just got that last week. : P : P
if you see a blue, it's a 5... a purple is 10...
we are just more colourful is all
Hi. Canada $$ is similar in colour to Aus money except we have $1 and $2 coins
Molly, do American bills have raised dots?
No raised dots on American bills.
And $1 bills... I think up to the 1950s... I have one :o)
:o( Babble eated my message now...
Don't know. I've never checked. I don't read Braille.
I was supposed to have said: Canada has $1 and $2 coins too, and $2 bills (from ages ago)!
we have the raised dots but any blind person i know identifies the differnt bill by folding the corner of the bill itself
Does Canada and AMerica have different sizes for their notes?
US has dollar coins, but they aren't used very often
America doesn't.
Yep Cross, that is how blind people identify their bills here. And those with vision trouble.
the note size is the same across all dominations
lol the 1 dollar bills and the 2 dollar bills we not "ages" ago dfm you young puppy...
I am a coin collector, so I have many of each currency.
and we also have 2 dollar bills, also not used very often.
clue for on7?
I have heard that the idea behind the uniformity of American bills was so that it would be harder for someone to know how much money you had with a quick glance.
they were totally *ages* ago crossy... :oP
That is very true.
Lil...1 + me, my**** and I
i am a numismatic collector myself mark
americans get confused with 2 dollar bills, and the dollar coins were just a hair bigger than our quarter, so not used a lot for that reason
tanks Molly.... FISH slap me!
well, okay, I concede, not the $2... but the $1...
So sometimes people fold up their money so that the large bills are inside, or the large bills are outside, depending on whether they want to appear rich or poor.
Cool.
Wow. Our notes have different sizes just enough to be visable. Not that I would know what anything past a $20 looks like these days
No way honey. I want you to smell lovely at the dance tomorrow night. : P
the problem with a coin dollar for the americans began with the susan b anthony dollar
I want to have a wad of bills big enough to be concerned about "wht"..."wht" is speaking about someday.
I have a bunch of $1 American coins :oO
It didn't fit into vending machines, so they stopped making it;
uniformity of the american dollar bills is probably also due to the mass production in the mints. one size versus having to change the cut blades for each change of denomination
I was given a silver dollar when I was born
I like Hong Kong bills and coins so much more than the on4 we have here...
Americans are just mired in tradition. We rejected metric as soon as it was forced on us and we don't want coins that have value of a dollar or more. Creatures of habit.
I have a 1897 mint silver dollar.
oh Molly, such a diplomatic way of saying how lazy we are to have to think!
i do not bother too much with american coinage other than the 1 dollar gold coin fron the mid 1800,s
Question...do Canadian vending machines take the dollar coins? That is something I never asked Dan.
The fare machines in the Boston subways give out dollar coins for change, so you are starting to see them around here more. But the cach register drawers don't have a place for them.
I don't know.
they sometimes don't, most do (and the $2 coins too)
vending machines are scarce here now molly
most have a label that states "this machine (do4 not) accept(s) dollar coins"
dawg, are we lazy, or are the vending machine manufacturers lazy? Hmmmmm? : P
Both.
Whoa, hold up. No vending machines in Canada?
the pop machines take loonies and toonies, and we no longer have ciggarette machines
i think it's the human factor. the vending machine makers just go with what's going to be spent
:oO mental note to se4: visit Boston (subways) a few more times.
clue for se6,18 (the last one)
our machines say "do4 not accept canadian coins"
Cross! Report to the PB...tout suit
Some of our money is the same size as overseas stuff and it frustrates me to no end when I get a coin that I can't use
ours reject American coins, so I guess we're ev4.
se + anagram of 2nd in4

lol i went to the counter of the liquor store in my neighborhood and they asked what else and I said a large . . . .and they finished the sentence
oh FM you are up late!!!!
No wht, JMC was prattling on about shooting liquids out her no4 earlier, blissfully ignorant that it was a grid word.
up early :( couldn't sleep.
what's keeping you awake, FM?
also, hi jmc :o)
*Must try some other bribery to get JMC to quit ignoring me*
Oh. I spend most of my life blissfully ignorant of just about everything.
i just mentioned that i would never shoot Jack out my no** and no one had the courtesy to mention it was in the grid so i used the word multiple times
Was having strange dreams.
aww FM, I hate when that happens :o( and when you go back to sleep you'll wake up late...
are you getting any snow there, FM?
Mayhap I should go to the PB for that JMC. Mea culpa.
oh dear FM that happens to me some times when it is too late to take a shot of jack for a night cap

last di7 is sickness
That is mostly why I've been up so late. Hoping that someone would chime in on how NB is doing. I'm going to say some more prayers, send out more good thoughts and hope to see something good tomorrow.
((molly))
confused look What ever the deal is hope NB is ok

night lbd!
hi all
i had this wild fantasy of getting half way but the battle with my computer has discouraged me
thanks dfm..... was wandering ..
hi crystalle
hi crys :o)
Sleep well lbd
sleep better than FM ;-)
lol
night dawg
the word pease refers to sea slugs?
apparently TO I looked it up when it was in the grid a few nights ago
At least I don't have to be anywhere today so can nap when I choose - the joy of being my own boss I guess.
uuuggghhh.... I only know it as in "pease porridge"....
i was getting wrapped up with envisioning whirled peas
guess it's made from sea slugs..... funny little nursery rhyme anyhow
and moved on to envisioning whirled pease
pease pudding double urrgh.
wait, how do pease and sea slugs relate? o.0
pease porridge hot, pease porridge cold, pease porridge in the pot, nine days old !!
thanks diane I now have that rhyme going round in my head.
yeah. me too.
... o.0 I just realised that my keyboard is on QWERTY today.
i thought pease pudding was made of peas,
sorrrry :-) just googled this; Pease porridge, quite simply, was a form of the dish we today call split pea soup
pease are the sea slugs in my icon dfm
pease is made from peas...
i need to start the boards earlier
so double meanings
Hi babblers
hi jilly! :o)
arrrrggghhhhhh!
needless to say wiki has an entry for pease pudding.
gross
Why is it when someone says we will call you back they leave you hanging and stressing out all day?
you spelt that wrong, jmc, it's "aarrggh". one H.
Hi jilly
http://www.seaslugforum.net/find/phils pec
my bad dfm I may have to shoot my computer however
cos people are rude and have no common curtesy!
cos people are rude and have no common curtesy!
Thanks Crystalle. As soon as I sleep or have a nap bam phone is going to ring
lol if dfm is going to spell check the log - my typos alone will keep him busy for hours!
:o/ jmc, I think that's the name of the discoverer, not the slug...
Once again my ex is mentioned slug
herin, lovely icon by the way.
I only do spellchecking for aarrggh and variations thereof! And horribly mangled words, and Canadian/American differences and misspellings that make sentences funny :oD
It is a windows icon
Have you seen National Geo?
I think dfm just likes to tease, FM
i really dislike people who are rude....ones who say they will meet u at this time but dont arrive for ages later or those who say will call u right back and dont ring until much later ( usually when i am cooking dinner!)
te8?
No herin. I know diane :) and I totally agree crystalle!
<-- likes editing though, so errors pop out to me :o(
people who dont indicate when they are turning while driving really annoy me too
by jove dmf i think you are right! i misread the label on my sea slugs!
te8 is the 6/18 but pl
it's an honest mistake to make :o)
National Geo website have photos that you can download
oh will have to look at that herin, thanks.
o duh, thx FMitch
OK I seriously lack ANY brain cells. I have a lead that I can hook up to my stereo to pc and I just remembered it.

are you guys set for christmas or are some of you last minute shoppers?
NOOOOO you are WRONG Herin they reflect them!!!!
OK hun see you in your tomorrow.
I use giftbox^^^ and found it helpful
bye FM
bay all
if you want to reflect brain waves, use clear plastic...
bye je
i am too busy stuffing my face with chinese to type!
se6/24
*resists the temptation to ask dfm why clear plastic would reflect brain waves*.
Crystalle I was doing that with pasta salad. I have half a kilo of the stuff
wait, crys, you're a cannibal? Do:
I just received 2 gifts today
clear plastic is opaque to IR and UV wavelengths.
nm, got the se6
lol dfm ur sooooooo funny
night everyone, happy babbling
how do you know that stuff dfm????
Really... I've never quite thought of myself as comedic.
night TO!
Bye TO!!
that is a really good question, FM.
:)
sometimes, I'd like to know myself... pretty sure it wasn't from studying for trivia.
Ah now ... if there was a degree in trivia, so many of us would qualify w/o even trying!
*twitch* *suppressing urge to correct grammar :oP* aww FM, now you've done it...
*grin*
Can someone please get up and turn my air con off and make me a coffee. Were is my house helpers
feel free to correct at will.
*sends cabana boy over to herin*
I wish
you have me beat, FM, I was going to send herin a virus which would write a program to control all the electronics in her house... but I guess it would have difficulties finding the coffee.
I have to keep them busy in the off season :)
Good evening to my fellow babblers! How is everyone?
By the way, congratulations to all the finishers! YAY!
also, correction would be if there *were* a degree ;o)
hi minv! :o)
Hi Minv...
Hello Minv
LOL dfm
Hi Mini
DM need a robot. The man of the hour is at work so he can't help
I don't suppose GameWrecker has been here to post all the words in the chog.It would be nice for me now since I just got here and have NO time to babble now
and you are totaly right about the was/were and if Haz was here I would be put in detention.
you should have seen me going over my high school newspaper... since it was a school course I wasn't allowed in it, so I se4 them an edited copy every issue... most pages were covered in red (error marks) and green (suggestive and stylistic corrections) ink!
We are about to get more storms AGAIN i wish they would bugger off
eventually the teachers gave in and I got to edit without taking the course :o) (it was an after school course, and I couldn't stay after school...)
wazap y'alls?
I ev4 gave them a bonus and made a website for them, from scratch! :oO
no wonder you had issues with your paper the other day!
Just came in to say hello and to show off my calendar icon. Have a calendar of King Charles Cavaliers as my icon today since I got an adorable Cavalier as my pet
aww herin, storms suck :o(
minv sorry I can't help, if I tried what GW did, all you'd get are clues, because of my scripts...
hi Gwen! :o)
dfm i did that too.. I wasnt allowed on newspaper cos i was in year 8 and only 9's on got to be on it. So i used to edit and correct every issue!
And now I am off again since I have to go to bed now.
Goodnight to my fellow babblers! I'll see you tomorrow
Bye Minv
hi and bye min
Did you send the heavily edited version to them? :oO I think the teacher kept all mine, she'd used them as an example in class once...
hi dfm
Goodnight minv! Sleep well :o)
Hello BDG
wazap fm?
hi Gwen
i did send it to them about 6 times and the media teacher changed age limits to alow me on paper!
good to see you BDG.
you got good eyes, fm LOL
i loved writing on the paper....I had high aspirations! I was going to be a world renowned journalist. I was gonna blow every conspiracy and wrong doing out of the water!
so where did life take you then crystalle?
but then a little thing called life got in the way
aah, I love persistence :o)
nursing
even more rewarding!
I havent actually started nursing properly yet
just doing the course
just doing the course
I applaud you - that is a vocation rather than a job.
why nursing instead of writing? :o/
i had children very young and chose to stay at home and now am about to start on my journey to become me ( the me that isnt changing nappies and being a slave to my kids )
or fast food? (joke!)
wtg for taking that big step into the unknown.
I need a guaranteed income and writing can not provide that. So I am going to get a job and write in my spare time. If i send articles into my local paper constantly, eventually one of them has to make an impact and hopefully lead to a free lance writing job. ( I did do a journalism course at university through home studies)
Did you know that being a grown up is over rated
the sad truth about art-based jobs... :o(
*throws a custard pie at herin*
sa7/32 please?
my 10 year old keeps saying she cant wait to grow up and i keep thinking "WHY?" what is so great about bills and cleaning and did i mention bills and cleaning
pt of the sa5/10
ty
I have decided though when I do get married. Guests are getting one haz mat suit and there will be a food fight.
That's the thing - when we are young we can't wait to grow up and when we have grown up we .....
and the last sa5/10?
having to get out of bed early pretty much every day to put washing on and start breakfast and clean and pay bills and put more washing on and cook and clean some more and pay even more bills. Growing up is soo fun! (note the sarcasm)
can anyone clue the bottom from i? plz and ty
I never wanted to grow up even as a kid. I learnt pretty young compromise. Don't misbehave you can stay up late and watch 21 Jump street
you mean i'm supposed to PAY all those bills? LOLOL
Then again at 8 I was reading Robin Cook books
in4 (bottle nosed fish)
evening all ;)
HI Pini
Hi Pini.
hi pini! :o)
hiya herin, fm, dfm, et al
I had a baby at 16 so never had that free time to enjoy growing up but now i am grown up i dont see anything much enjoyable about it ( other than all the great things my kids do )
WOW Crystalle that is young. My blood sister was 15 (she is still with him)
oh crepe, not finding the freakin fish. grrrrrrr
sixteen... isn't that young? :oO
think 'dolphin' gwen
i am still with the father of my kids too. We got to gether in1998 when i was 14 and we are still going strong
crepe, found it. one of my favorite babblets, too! (slap me with a giant in4 lol)
:)
NBT at last, woot
which in4 is it? o.0
the 1st one
we have 3 kids and now i am done. No more babies for me :(
but you are young and have a whole lot of living to do yet :)
Crystalle that is sweet though. My friend has 4 kids under 6 and she is always rudely asked if her husband is the father of all of them
why done? :o(
dfm if u ever had to give birth you wouldnt ask that !!!!!!!!!!
<-- done havin' babies, too!!!
ah, and the in4 is also the plural of the... erm, external occipital protuberance that is sometimes an in5.
* giggle * good answer, crystalle!
Can't imagine what it would be like to have 4 kids under the age of 6. Actually can't imagine what it would be like to have one of that age.
Q. Hoe
LOL crystalle!!!
Q. How do you make an artichoke?
I know someone who had 6 kids under the age of 10! all hers and her husbands...
BR!!!! :)
strangle it?
ah, I guess that is one of the fortunes of being male... unfortunately that comes with the consequence of a shorter average life expectancy...
A. You strangle it.
hi BR! :o)
cute BR :)
"it"? Isn't it "him"?
BR, how're ya doin'?
yay! Greetings BR
Hello, folks
Good to see you and am still keeping the hammock warm for you.
omg she must have been soooo tired all the time!!! ^ kids under ten! I have 3 under ten and thats hard enough!
It was my mother, crystalle ;)
Not sure how we all survived!
but being male, I sometimes wonder how it feels <.<
BR! HELLO! So sorry to have missed you yesterday!
(this being said by someone who has forcefully caused a bee to sting him to know how bee stings feel... I am probably just weird.)
Hello, Uni
hi une :o)
hey, dfmchfhf :-)
Does anyone need any snow?
I do! I do!
no thanks :-)
No thanks BR
I would love some wet sticky snow to cover up all the ice everywhere...
Lets send our unwanted snow to Pini! Hi Une :)
* Imma waitin'! *
How much have you got BR?
hey, fmitch :-)
No have the aircon on here
A lot of people like snow. I find it to be an unnecessary freezing of water. ~Carl Reiner
snow is better than sleet, or ice.
well, yeah!
The poeple that like snow are the ones who are not having to live with it.
snow is fine as long as it's outdoors and i'm indoors
<-- loves snow! :)
<-- likes snow, especially when it's been barely 0C recently and there's black ice everywhere!
pini, i like to LOOK at it but not DRIVE in it! :-)
And so we remained till the red of the dawn began to fall through the snow gloom. I was desolate and afraid, and full of woe and terror. But when that beautiful sun began to climb the horizon life was to me again. Bram Stoker
very nice, BR
<-- has 4WD now and doesn't even mind driving in it much anymore ;)
cool, BR :)
driving in snow is better than driving on ice
ooh, found an 8 at last
* pyrotechnics *
FM, not so much --- maybe two feet
i know, but around here, roads don't get cleared very well or quickly AND you have to watch out for all the wackos driving like it's July!
driving in snow can be fun. and you don't really need 4wd, just avoid rear wheel drive
wtg pini !!!! ~~~~ !!!!
Not so bad so far then BR.
:)
yay, pini! Moi as well! and signing off -- later, boys and girls! *poof*
Q. How do you fix a broken tomato? A. With tomato past.
wtg une ;)
past
paste ... .duh
Be well, Une
BR, you're too cute!!! :)
lol you are a bit of kilter, must be the cold.
Yea, Ducks
they're doin' awesome, eh, BR??? ;)
'tis great to see you though.
congrats pini!
bye une :o)
okay, have nbt, more than half grey tiles and 2342 pts....must give up and hit the pillows...niters all *ppof*
Time to take a nap before I fall asleep.
TTFN BR

I am determined to stay up now for the flip
night BR!
but I wish it would hurry up.
night jilly!
there is only so much tea I can drink!
make another cup, then! :oO
Or do you mean that you have no more tea?
I have tea in many flavours - can I make you one too?
en 5 clue please.
I like plain tea :o) almost any type of tea is fine, as long as it has no additives and doesn't clash with what I'm eating...
en + spanish aunt
*holds out teacup to FM*

I have to revise my self eval and pay attention to my student teaching app for the spring (due Dec 17) otherwise "free" for a month!
I miss you too!

Well that was a lame storm

I asked you jilli if you could tell us anything about NB as a lot of us are worried about the posts from yesterday.

Thx, stid. NB is ill and I may have my head removed for admitting it.
Sorry about all this, FM.
mkg, im hunting for it too
What posts from yesterday? I wan't here.
Blessings NB. Had to duck outside due to major alarm going off in the complex behind me (that was a bit scary)
*worried mama look* I can look back in the archives... do you know about what time of day FM?
JC said he had been im'ing Frank and m9 said she was overwhelmed or words to that effect so we were all thinking the worst.
need ti 6 18 the last one on the list.
oh dear.
Not the worst. NB does not want this discussed here.
Understand , but at least send him all our good wishes and love.
