Hello Ruby and anyone else around
good morning lynxxxx
with no chat, I got to 88 very quickly, and no words in the wrong places lol
Still snowed in? Your dogs must be loving it, I imagine this is what their coats are for
we had 2 warm days and all the snow is gone. Now it is just extremely cold but, surprisingly, everything is still green
I had to clear places for them to poop as it was so deep
I know this cold snap was abnormal but are you normally snowed under during Winter?
this was very early and it was the most snow in France in general since the 50's. We had a lot of snow the first couple of years, but not much since then
and we've been here 13
half and I'd better get dressed! see you later
bye for now
Morning all how many words today
178 sandra.
Good morning/evening all.
Thanks
You're welcome.
Morning Haz.
We were right about the hospital wedding.
Good morning, FM! We're thawing out, at last.
I know! But Charlotte still has a pulse, I didn't see that one coming.
That is good news re the thaw.
We keep hearing rumbling noises and it's snow tumbling off the roof.
oh dear
You will have to keep a look out when going in and out :)
It'll be a relief to have it all away, but as you say, I'd rather not have it dumped on my head.
hi haz. The noise of the snow coming off the roof was scary! It sounds like the roof itself was coming down. Fortunately, no people or dogs were under it, just my little Japanese maples.....
Morning ruby!
Good morning, ruby.
the smart people here all have little projections on their roofs to keep that from happening, but our house was built without them, hence, the problem
{{FM}}
the noise went on for more than an hour on Monday night
goodness!
were you underneath it?
it was a lot of snow
I am just thankful for seeing green instead of white.
We didn't even have a frost this morning :)
me, too, and the grass is amazingly green
phantom: percale
for nbt, does anybody have the lonely bottom-middle e?
'fraid not.
epee
It's the ep9.
Sorry, ep8.
oh rats thats me of to the PB, well I was ready to put the kettle on, biab.
FM don't forget the plural...lol
ep8 - Edgar Allen mixed up, Edgar Allen not mixed up, finish with a couple of vowels.
great clue Haz (tho already had it)
thanks diz Brilliant clue Haz!!!
Oh good, it works.
HI
Hello, herin.
How you?
dancing around the ep8....monkeys dancing, too
{{herin}}
hugs
The last two vowels are the first in the Bond creator's first name.
got it, phew, thanks haz
Well done.
I "sort of" knew the word, but not in that form, from old poetry calls 100 yrs ago
class, not calls
I am watching the chaviest Escape to the Country ever
do they say "init"?
No they are a shade of yellow that is not seen on man kind
my nephews wife described chav for me as 12, white, pregnant, gum-chewing and saying init! hahah
More like Ompah lompa yellow
tanning creme?
LOL herin
It is a shade of orange that is wrong and bleach yellow
hair
oh and don't forget 2 tons of makeup and fake eyelashes that measure at least an inch :)
Noice they are in a charming area of housing estates
that is all too funny for me
They scare me. I can't even watch them an tv.
are there housing estates in Australia? Here, I think they're mostly around the big cities
where they burn cars for fun
I just said to the b.f after the comentator said ''the house is a blank canvas she can put her magic mark on. I said more like Magic Marker, no that is her face.
Yes there are ruby. But they way the are complaining are not the nice sort
hahah
If you remember the show Birds of a Feather they kind of remind me of Sharon
we don't get much English TV here, just the occasional series, usually of very high quality, e.g. MI5, In Immersion, The Trial of Juliette Miller (unfortunately, they just showed the first two episodes)....
it's very spotty
They're starting one this week, translated as Pillars of the Earth. I have no idea if it's good or not, set in 12th C England with Ian McShane
I grew up on a lot of English Tv
Matthew McFadden
off to lunch, see you later
{{herin}}
Take Care Ruby
*poof*
off
Bye herin, was buried in the grid.
DId lynxxx disappear to have dinner?
maybe she was overcome with the elegance of your clue :)
Hunger is more likely!
*grin*
Will the football be on again this weekend?
HAve you made all your "to do" lists?
So far this week only one game played but as things are thawing out, fingers crossed.
I've done the central master overview list.
good so at least you know what is needed :)
That will then be broken down into more detailed lists with specific headings. I've got the tinselled clipboard out of storage.
lol
(I haven't really, but I liked the image)
Ah now I know what to send yo for Christmas :)
Do you think Ata has got frozen into an estuary somewhere?
I don't know, she's been a bit low profile.
I used to be much more organised about Christmas until I realised that there isn't actually going to be anybody coming round to inspect your house and award marks for presentation and provision of wonderment.
I can't see the point in getting stressed out about Christmas but perhaps that is because the family is so small now.
If you are doing lunch for 15 and then have a big bash on Boxing day it is a different story.
I think papers and magazines kind of up the ante with their long lists of what to do, what to buy, how to make up a spare bed, what entertainments to lay on etc etc.
It's possible as well that people don't really eat meals together as much as they would have done in the past, so to produce a special meal is a big deal. I'm only catering for 6 (unless we have unexpected additions) and that's pretty normal.
good morning (barely still) all :)
Good morning, sprite.
Greetings spritey sprite!
Are you thawing out yet?
hi Haz and FM :D Yes, rain rain rain here, no more ice and all streets are clear!
rain is ok, no ice is even better.
Wonderful! It makes such a difference not to be having to watch every st4.
absolutely. Rain is compatible with everyday life. Ice isn't.
am happy today... a friend of ours is coming to stay for a couple of days, she will arrive at dinnertime. We are gonna treat ourselves to a weekend of dvd watching and lazing about, and chatting up, and lots of hugs :)
That sounds like a great way to spend the weekend!
it is one of those rare things... a friend of mine that my husband and kids like as much as I do.
As I said yesterday and probably the day before Dr_G is making us work for our words this week.
isn't he just! I am having loads of fun, but it isn't coming easy. And new words to discover every day.
Haz gave an excellent clue earlier for the ep8 - you just have to shut your eyes and type it in. An 8 letter word with only 2 cons in it for heavens sake.
roflollllllll
ok that IS a marvelous clue. I found it, thanks Haz and FM
Well done, sprite.
Well done, sprite.
*grin* I love it when you are proud of me, Haz
Sorry for repeat.
uh oh Haz is getting over excited again.
Where are our USA buddies?
they're just waking uo. Morning all!
good question
hey Jayk :)
are they all snowed under or just hibernating? Morning Jay.
FM is unbeatable when it comes to bringing people out
Hibernating.
Cat woke me up
I could hibernate. I would love to. I think I will reincarnate as a big brown mama bear.
I dunno, Sprite. There'd be all that lumbering to do later
Is it cold in Atlanta Jay?
Very. 20F
brrrr that is almost minus 7 degrees celsius
crossybear will be waking up soon so I will put some tea in the PB for him.
*makes some bacon flavoured, low calory cookies too*
I can't bring myself to walk to the end of the driveway to get the Times. But I MUST do some Christmas shopping today
dress in layers, is all I can say...
I am hibernating (more or less) wake up with the dawn, do work stuff etc and then can't wait to go to bed which is so comfy.
I am doing all my Christmas shopping on line this year.
Sorry, back again after being tossed aside by internet connection.
I did most of it that way, thank God
how inconsiderate of that connection. Wb.
I gave it a stern talking to.
I should think so!
that'll teach it
but you know what happened when you tried that approach with the last printer.
You can't take these things lying down.
uh-oh... printers are sensitive things.
This new one cooperates reasonably well. I've had to bring out the install disc a few times to wave in front of it and that seems to have an effect.
hunkering under the desk sometimes works though. *teehee*
But yes, printers seem to be extraordinarily temperamental.
and the cost of the flipping ink!
amen to that
I know, it's just ridiculous.
The printers seem to be getting more and more complicated and yet less expensive while the ink just mounts in cost.
Outrageous. I just bought a new one which i really like but the black cartridge yesterday cost me $25!!!
omg that is awful
ouch.
I certainly don't believe the 'your ink level is low' until the quality really diminishes.
oh I run mine down until the print disappears.
hah, that is true. *speaks very softly* I trick my printer by taking out the 'empty' cartridge, putting it back and starting again... works a very long time!
Same here.
Gosh, that's a new one, I've never tried that.
really Sprite? what make is it?
I have an Epson Stylus
lets take a straw poll of what printers we all use: Mine is a Canon MP490
I use PrintLab cartridges, not the real Epson ones.
Rats. But I'll try that next time. Mine won't print at all once it tells you the ink is out. The old Canon would print forever under "Ink out"
Mine' s a Brother. VERY fast.
Mine is an HP Deskjet. Printer, scanner, photocopier, dishwasher all in one.
I used to have a Canon laserprinter. I loved that thing. But for my children we have to have colour printer now. School demands it.
Morning Jay, and all those across the pond. Happy Friday.
lol Haz.
Hello, Molly.
Hi Molly
hi Molly, welcome in chat, babble and penalty box
Morning Molly
Morning Babblers :)
hi Nanette :)
*Troops off to PB, groggily sipping coffee*
Good morning, Nono.
we have cookies too, Molly!
heheee thanks for my first word Molly
No problem Nono. Thanks to whoever put the warm danish in here.
Morning Nono.
I have trouble clearing the F tile. Does anyone know if there are odd F words in the grid today?
You'd better believe it.
fe6 and fe7
Im missing 5 from the f
fe6/42 and fe7/60
Sing out if you want a further nudge.
arrrgghh. A gentle clue to get me on the right track, Haz, please? Those are the 2 I am missing, no doubt.
but I've got to that point where I stare at the screen and can't see anything.
fe6 - fe then use a vowel to get to most of the Arc heroine.
feoan feoni
oh dear I am sorry
fe7 is the plural. The Arc heroine is the English version of the French name. Think Miss Rivers.
thanks Haz! So those are words? *looking them up now*
I'll work on a more efficient clue - strange words!
a shrub of the myrtle family, native to South America, bearing edible, greenish, plumlike fruit. Or the fruit itself. Well, who knew.
fe plus two dotted letters in a row, then first two letters of the rower's means of propulsion.
Great googly moogly. That is one weird set of f words. Thanks for the clue Haz.
You're welcome, Molly.
looks like portugese to me, lol. Never would have monkeyed those on my own.
It's funny, most of the words in the grid are normal, but those that aren't AREN'T.
it is also called pineapple guava.
yes, grin, true. First that ep and now those F words.
And some of the pe words are downright peculiar.
great clues, Haz, once i got the right vowel in there they worked like a charm
That's good, Nono.
I have found 2 pe7s and a pe6 that are odd but have been in grids before.
There's a pe 8 and pe9 as well (not plurals)
ouch. Ok, thanks, on the hunt I go.
ep8 - Edgar Allen mixed up, Edgar Allen not mixed up, finish with the two vowels that begin Bond creator's first name.
I'll hold fire on any more long words.
darn I am almost sorry I got that from your earlier clue, grin. That is brilliant.
oh my that is a strange one!
are they normal words, Haz, those big Ps?
sprite, you probably have pe7/32 - the one that ends with a charged particle?
If so, remove the last letter and add a pea container.
yes, got that one
That's the pe9. The pe8 has the same structure but lose a vowel within the word.
you are kidding... no you are not. It takes. Thanks! Another new one for me!
Told you they were odd! You're welcome.
oh of course, I should have know. They are (in a crustacean) an appendage of the thorax. Ata could have told us, lol.
Lol I was just thinking that!
I know, she'll come on and say 'oh look, pe9!'
exactly! And being smug about it, grin. Gosh I miss seeing her.
I know - this working lark is a nuisance.
very inconsiderate of her. But what can one do.
oh you had t ogo and say the 'w' word :(
Sorry! It slipped out.
*erases W word and gently distracts FM*
I'll need to go and be productive as well. I did try to buy self-writing, self-addressing Christmas cards but they were fresh out in the shops.
I guess I will have to go ...... In a shower of Fireworks!!!!!!!!
wtg FM!!!!!!!!!
Oh, well done!
wtg FM!
huh... why does the plural of the car-related person who word take, but not the singular?
Happy Babbling all, thanks for the chat and TTFN.
Toodle-oo, FM.
have a good day, FM. *hugs*
take care FM
I should go as well. Enjoy the grid and the rest of the day - bye for now!
nm looked it up, it is an exclamation
bye Haz, have a good day!
Bye!
bye Haz have a great day
fireflies for me as well. As Haz said, this grid is easy except for where it is very difficult.
congrats Sprite!
thanks :) I am off too, have fun and don't be afraid to try crazy combinations.
and thanks to Haz, I have a bit of a head start on those more difficult ones
bye bye sprite, have a wonderful day
I must keep an eye on the time... I have a dentist appointment this morning
Oh sure...everyone leaves when I get here!
Hey Car! I'm here.
Yeah! Good morning Molly!
morning all, may I have a clue for the bottom E above the S pls
Need it myself!
Okay, let me see if I can remember Haz's brilliant clue from this morning. First three letters mixed up Edgar Allan last name, second three, spelled correctly Edgar Allan second name, last two...first two letters of Bond creator's first name.
Okay, let me see if I can remember Haz's brilliant clue from this morning. First three letters mixed up Edgar Allan last name, second three, spelled correctly Edgar Allan second name, last two...first two letters of Bond creator's first name.
Sorry for the double post.
saw that clue and could not get it then or now, but ty, Molly
Wow. TY Molly..and Haz!

EP 8/50
Okay Peri...the guy who takes your car is a r*** man...a person who writes odes is a ***t...Ave Mar**

ep 8/50 related to epic poetry. Edgas Allen's name is in it, and it ends in 4 vowels. Good luck LOL
thank you so much Ms. Molly
hi swmbo
and Haz
As Haz said this morning, this grid is easy, except where it is difficult. There are some very whacked out words today.
hello Babblers!
bbs
Bye Peri!
Hello swmbo
phantoms: poise; nose
What's up with all the J words this week?
I don't know, but I will be hard pressed to find 10 of 'em!
The N's have been nasty lately too.
mornin babblers!
Ooo...got the j7.
Morning Eva!
Howdy Eva
how are we today? any news on anything?
I jumped in the grid early this morning, said hello to the folks across the po4 (but not that way) and immediately had to do some PB time. No chatting before coffee is my new rule.
No news...just trying to look forward to a better day than I had yesterday! So far, so good! Except this ginormous zit on my face...just like high school...Holiday party tomorrow...big zit today!
There ought to be a law against zits after a certain age. Really.
morning everyone
Hi Mom!
Hi Mom, Happy Friday
No kidding!
((Car.)) I missed yesterday, sorry it was a bad day for you
((Molly)) good morning
if youre prone to zits, you should invest in a zeno device. thankfully, i dont get too many zits these days, but my friend got one of those devices right before her wedding (because the wedding stress was causing her to break out) and she swears that within 24 hours, zits were gone.
Any n on the right for NBT?
If I stopped touching it, it would probably go away faster too! Thank goodness for coverup!
your sisters daughter
slang for no
TY.
thanks Car.
Never heard of Zeno. Just looked them up.

Oh Eva! {{hug}}
cold and snowy here
*Passing fleece blankie to Eva*
Eva...can you use a Snuggie while at work?
i think my metro car had the AC on today! i had to keep my coat and scarf bundled up for the whole ride...
how did you know that Molly?
How far of a Metro ride do you have Eva?
actually we are above freezing for the first time in over a week. No sunshine though
car -- i dont have a blanket here (yet) but i do have a shawl/wrap that i often wear around my shoulders or across my lap...
Mother's intuition Mom. ; )
Uh oh! i have played too long again! I need to work and now the sun has come up and is glaring on to my screen, thus making it very difficult to see what I am typing!
molly -- shady grove down to either gallery place or judiciary (i get off at gallery place when its nicer outside and get a little extra walking in. this time of year, i go to judiciary and hurry into my building...)
I am such a throw back
nice to see you Car., don't over do on the working stuff
Ummm...Mom...consider that we all knew the clue....we are all throw backs then!
such a catchy tune
Thanks Mom! With the sun blinding me, it will be little slow going!
I had better scoot off here as well. Groceries need to be bought. Mother Hubbard's cupboard is getting bare
I mean, heck we have run out of egg nog
Hugs and love to all! Have a great day!
{{{{SCREEEEEAAAMMMMM}} out of egg nog! NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Which now reminds me...I need to go buy some as well! Love the New England Egg Nog...burns the hair right off your chest! Love it!
Bye!
Hello Babbleland if anyone is out there.

Hey EvaN!

I won't tell.
No worries Eva. The PB is well stocked today.

EvaN question for you which I don't know if can answer - do you know how NB is?
and hopefully toasty warm, too!
i dont know, FM. :(
Hi Molly and weiki
i have been hoping to hear something...
has he had some troubles?
I turned the jacuzzi on when I was in there.
flip, thought you would know if anyone did.
I'm keeping NB in my good thoughts and prayers.
aparently he is unwell weldi.
as am i, molly. i am hoping no news is good news...
hi folks, worried about NB, praying all is oK for him
when was he here last?
Last time I saw him here, he was going to the doctor and nervous about it. I thought it was just a check up.
one day I might actually type your name correctly welki!
greetings JBV.
no worries, fm ... some days, i barely know my own name :)
lol know that feeling too :)
hi FMitch, Molli, welki, Eva,
mornin :)
my fingers just seem to do their own thing on the keyboard sometimes.
works well for the grid but not for the chog.
hints for the O?
op4/5
old, old word for not closed
Greetings zooz!
hi zooz
hi jbv, zoon
Hello, everyone :-)
((JBV))
and zooz too (you are not alone, fm)
TY. couldnt noodle that one for the life of me!
those 2 lower E tiles are also eluding me...
hi friends - here's my progress report: things are getting done, phone calls, correspondence, it's dreadful, but keeps me busy, I work in fun time every day : babble (of course!) reading, etc.
Feeling mild here today, FM , hope it is where you are.
incredibly no frost this morning, no nothing so not complaining :)
ooh, got one of those lower Es. anyone have the solo one?
JBV - well done, I know that takes effort to keep things going and isn't Babbleland just great for a bit of R&R.
i think it's es 5/10
busy is good, jbv
yes, thanks to all of you, this is my oasis
(((JBV)))
It is not going to be easy, JBV, just hope you have loving friends & family supporting you.
I have always found Babble friends the best of all.
yes, I do, zooz, some are long-distance but we're talking and emailing daily -
help with the sc7 please, my last word
merlin carried one
good morning/afternoon everyone
and my family in Italy SKyped me - that was incredible - the Italians are great - they were crying, kissing me, hugging me, saying their hearts were wrung in two, etc. - very emotional
Hello, Annie :-)
Thanks Annie, forgot to look in that direction. fini
hi zooz!
thanks, annie, forgot the British spelling!
WTG Bubba!
(((JBV))) what a great thing skye is
congrats, bubba
my sister and brother who are here and love me dearly can't believe the language the Italians use, who really barely know me, although we're family
must admit i have never used skype.
that middle bottom e is an ep8 which Haz clued this morning with style: ep8 - Edgar Allen mixed up, Edgar Allen not mixed up, finish with a couple of vowels. ring with much aplomb:
oh it's definitely amazing zooz - I think of my father who lived 50 years in this country without ever seeing his family again - what would he think of this amazing invention?
I have only seen skype on television
lol .. he'd either think it's the best thing since sliced bread or the work of the devil!
I've used skype since the early days.
LOL
I do have to get used to combing my hair and putting on lipstick when the phone rings :)
my niece in Arizona also skypes with me frequently -
Technology is getting so advanced quickly...will not be long before we are watching holographic TV..which i have heard they are already trying out.
but would not have webcam
you don't have to use the video option, jbv .. if you're 'indisposed,' just use the phone function
that's true, welki, but now we've established a "tradition" so to speak, so to not use video would be strange to them
i've used it since the beginning, too, fm. i'd chat with friends in australia and we'd use it like a walkie talkie (it was simplex mode back then)
I love the internet and my PC and my limited mobile phone but I still love to write a letter using a pen and paper and posting it off.
hi all
i mainly used skype for business
'morniing, jmc .. how the heck are you?!
me too, FMitch - that's why I kept my icon from a few days ago - handwritten letters, nothing like 'em
tell haz that was a lovely clue
i am doing okay welki
really welki, I remember looking at the skype stats and thing 'wow, 200,000 users this is growing!
even though carlee is convinced something is wrong in my life
i have no idea what merlin carried btw
but everything IS okay? (how's the job search going?)
merlin carried a pint of jack
had the interview which went well waiting on the results
merlin is my kind of guy then
applying for another job also in philly
good luck with the job search, jmc
Daniels
jmc has had a make over (been to the hairdresser) and we are still waiting for a pic.
philly ... expensive
good luck, jmc, i'm off to do some errands, see you all later
ty annie as i told my sister yesterday i can always go back to practicing law
bye, jbv
bye jbv
bye, jbv
philly is cheaper than DC
Hi Annie and bye JBV
can i take a pic with the camera on my computer?
FM, are you thawing?
where is crossy when you need him
Bye, JBV.
yes, jmc .. what kind of computer? pc?
hp pc
all thawed out glad to report Annie, as is ruby and Haz is slowly thawing too.
in 'my computer,' there should be an icon for a camera or webcam
okay i will look
if you open it up, you'll see what looks like a video of yourself .. if you press the enter button, it'll capture a photograph
we think that Ata is still frozen into an estuary somewhere as she has beem AWOL for a couple of days now :)
Anyone have some clues for the J words ???
i thought of her yesterday, saw a photo of a tiny octopus perched on a finger
poor ata!
jo4 jo** the dots to dot.
a car that was invented for the military gran
then plural.
and good morning to you, too, granfield
and to shout and boo
and plural the letter
ty zooz hadn't found that one yet
:-)
and je7/52
je4
then plural
je6/33---court je****
ooh thanks, FM.
and of course there is the Court Je6/33
ty ty
yw zooz
Oh ho...Thanks!!! 52 points!!!
i found skype and in my list of devices is a webcam but i can't find it to launch it
Hope all of those clues help all of you at GGroup.
hmm still looking for the je7 is it connected to the motely fool?
hmmm ... hang on, let me get a windows laptop
this is windows 7 home premium for heaven's sake
extend the je4/10 jmc.
no .. it's like Shezam! or crikey! or Gee Willickers!
je7 cr*****!
Je***** creepers, where'd you get those peepers? old, popular song
lol
LOL welki and I was trying to think of the singer of that song Annie.
whats his name that gave carol burnett her start
arthur godfrey
I should know it but it is buried somewhere in my brain
not red skelton?
good i hated him
Gary Moore
ahhh
but I do like the word crikey - we should petition for it to be brought back into use.
probably him too
you are right gary moore gave carol burnett her start
lol you can never tell where babble chat is going to take you :)
we will just have to make it fashionable in babbleland
Anyone have a clue for a 9 letterer???
but that crocodile guy said it all the time i think
was it jack paar that gave Carol Burnett her start?
no gary moore as annie said
no, Luv, it was Gary Moore
i have autographed photo of her
guess I'm mis-remembering lol
I saw Carol Burnett in her Broadway debut in Once Upon A Mattress...she was wonderful
the 9 is a pe9/72 and might take some finding GGroup.
ack fe**s don't fail me now!
but if you have the 8, all you need to do is remove a vowel.
Failing that read back in the chog archive for some great p clues.
ok .. jmc, open up 'my computer' .. you'll see USB Video Device, double click and you should see yourself .. probably looking much confused (like I just did)
if that isn't counter-intuitive i don't know what is
ack! (looked at myself)
alright hate to sound dumb to you but i don't have my computer just computer and it doesn't seem to be there
awe lol welki
can you navigate to where you see your C Drive and any other devices/disks?
okay
is there an icon that looks a little like a camera or video-camera?
i see my C drive and it lists decies with removable storage
it should be listed under, "Scanners and Cameras"
no
dang i have windows 7 upstairs .. you gonna be around for a few?
let me look under control panel
ok
hold on
will run upstairs in the meantime
there is a cool pix listed there but i think that was connected with a cable at some point
it is under device manager but that just tells me it is working
FM i hope you appreciate all the work i am doing to take a pic! lol
under ''devices and printers""
i wonder if you have a webcam
when i look under devices and printers in control panel it says it is there and i have used it for skype
i know it is there
and when you double click?
çourse, you could open skype and take a pic there
really?
I do indeed dear jmc!
my keyboard seems to be speaking french .. check this out ç ç ;c
or you could just take a pic on a camera and upload that :)
here's hoping i remember my password :-(
my camera battery is dead and i am recharging it
hahahaha .. i'd skype you, but would scare the dickens out of anyone who saw me right now
excuses, excuses.
*going back downstairs*
Jmc does your coputer have a webcam on it?
Mind you I can't talk I don't have a web cam and can't skype cos my head set is broken.
yep, she says she's used it before
if so, jjust use the Windows live movie maker, then click on the webcam icon in there.
well boyhowdy zooz, you're a genius!
oh okay i will look for that
just click Start, All programs.
glad i have the day off, it's snowing to beat the band out there (looks pretty, though .. one of those snowfalls that leaves a sparkling blanket on the trees)
i have live call, live mail, live messenger, and live writer
:-(
she's a-LIVE
welki is off to the PB but I loved the descriptive post.
when you click on start..at the bottom is a search bar, try and type words as webcam ...camera..and see what results you get.
i'll take a hit for the team .. want me to skype you?
hey fm .. you forgave evan. i am deeply wounded.
that worked! ty zooz!
yw :-)
ACK!!!
*whew*
*Passes bandaged and blankies and hot toddies* to make up
LOLOLOL .. sounds like you just saw ME!
lol
okie doke i gots a photo
no i saw me
(that *whew* was relief at not having to reveal her dissheveled self to jmc)
you lot are mad..lol
i always knew we were related :)
how do i get this to save to somewhere i can turn it into an icon?
probably file, save .. and then just save it to your desktop so you can find it easier
hmmm
jmc, i meant to tell you before .. bought another saab
OK now lets talk about embedding text and voice messages into excel...... ?
Morning all
Hello, Mr Bob.
fm, i just figured out how to insert a table and get autosum to work ... don't stress me out! lolol
damn i can't find file save
<==fe**s like a luddite
maybe you can drag the image onto your desktop?
hi mr bob
morning all :o) Is it normal if within the first ten words I see the di8, ep8 and pe7 relating to the pe9? :oS
no, it's not, dfm. you should go to emerg.
Hello, DFM...not here it is not..lol
for you probably yes dfm :)
JMC, are you trying to get a picture of something on the computer? Do you know how to do a screen capture?
tried that but did find the path so i will duck out and add a new icon
i have a grand total of NONE of those words...heh
morning all - jmc - there should be file in upper left corer. Click and there is a drop-down menu. Save and it will have name cmp gives it. Save as and you name it
oh by the way dfm a) have you spelt b) have you eaten
oh, okay then I should leave for the hospital now?
yes, I've definitely spelt.
*slept
Hello, Molly & Hoot :-)
Not sure about eaten though :o/
okay refresh everybody!
lol and on that note I am going to get lunch.
hi hoot! :o)
no no FM this was all for you!!
by jove - I think shes got it!
i look a million years old in the pic!
hi dfm
i am refreshed. and i see you! *clicking*
jmc you look great!
cut about a foot off my hair
def look better than me!
love it!! it looks, you look so pretty!!!!
well done, Jmc..i see your new icon.
I look like a brillo pad
no $hit .. what a change
*beams*
yay jmc's new icon!
ty welki zooz and all for the help and the kudos
brand new around the edges
I want to eat , Hoots, owls.
je7! i wish my hair could do something like that. i have wavy superthick hair .. and no patience. so it's cut real short all the time
MY OWLS!?
but this is all my hair will do welki! i once spent a fortune on a perm and it lasted one day
nonononono
zooz you want to eat owls? Do:
i'm thinking that you could do one of those 'oh my bangs are in my face so i'm going to shake my head' moves :)
lol..well they do look very tasty.
zooz are you threatening hoots' owls?
they are made out of cloth zooz you need to get something else
not edible - ever!
no welki i would just end up with bangs in my face
try a smoothie - fast and satisfying
No way..so sorry i thought they were shortbread.
they are very cute.
hoot needs to make some extras and send owls to everyone though... they look so squishy and huggable!
hehehe .. me, i'd probably put my neck out
lol no zooz--felt
oh - ok. apology accepted
okay i need to focus and get nbt to go to work
I want one though, they look cool.
well I didn't make those but hopefully, after the holidays I will make my own.
they are cute -- did you make them hoot?
google xmas owls
will do.
my hair grows fast, has to be cut every 3-4 weeks .. and ive tried so many stylists. always comes out the same, no matter who does it, how much it costs, how the planets are aligned, what directions i give.
then they can join the fifty or so in my bedroom
i cut mine every two years whether it needs it or not
a hootenanny :)
grass is always greener
:-)
well there has to be a reaso for my name! I collect. Have for 30 yrs
Left a whole lot behind in NY when I left
stats for the top S please
I'm trying to avoid the hair thing but...I have "naurally cured" hair. It does what it wants, whenever it wants. I have found I can control it better when it's longer. Which is not saying much.
try naturally curled...
when my hair is long i can put it in a pony tail and forget it -- but it does take a while to brush in the morning
just tie it back or put it up.
yep
i can't put it up because it is so fine it falls outwith in minutes
stats for the top S??
please
well the curl tends to lock it in place so reverse problem
sp4/5 and so4/9
Sa 6/18, so4/9, sp4/5
missing the 3rd
ty zooz
ty hoot
ty for my 3rd
stats for the right hand N?
na4/4, na4/4, ni5/12 &6
ty that makes nbt and i am off to work
i think i will change my icon when i get there since it is disconcerting to look at myself while i type
*poof*
bye jmc
Afternoon people, anyone got a clue for the FE6 & FE7, please?
fe + letter + ***n of arc then plural.
fe 6 and 7 ----fe, personal pronoun, and ***n of Arc and pl.
snap, zooz
lol
ty zooz and annie
Between those fe words and the ep 8, I feel like I'm playing "Babble: Foreign Language Edition".
youre welcome, welki
yw :-)
and all the Scottish words?
Bl***y he**, No wonder I couldn't find it. TYVM, fireworks!!
fe was new for me, thanks zooz and annie :o)
congrats liz! :o)
WTG, Liz!
congrats, iizmac and hi molly and dfm
hi annie! :o)
hmm, it seems that we have a great system here... I need to reset my internal mail password before I can log in, but I need my intranet password to do that, and I need to reset my intranet password before I can log in, but I need to log in to my mail in order to reset it :oS
fireworks! and good morning to all!
lol..good god what a muck around.
congrats and good morning :o)
WTG Smooth_Pappa! & hello.
hi smooth
mornin pappa! havent seen you over on the babble side of things in a while...
hey eva, for a long time (like maybe a couple of years) I stopped playing, but several months ago I started back up. But I don't usually have enough time to get into the chat. But I am at least playing every day... and now and then stop in for a hello. :)
And we're glad when you do SP.
Hey all...
fins
oops
Hello, Red ;-)
hi zooz, red faced.
thanks molly. :)
hi red! :o)
You have wonderful photos on your flickr, Smooth_Pappa.
dfm! just getting ready to drive down to sanibel....
ohhhh, i've always wanted to visit sanibel! have a great time, red!
Come on Welki, my friend cancelled, so I have a 2 bed room!
careful what you wish for ;)
Oooh Sanibel....pick some shells for me...Sanibel is lovely
Thanks Zoom. I used to do a lot more personal art photography, but about 18 months ago, I had "product photographer" added to my job, so that's been where most of my photographic efforts have fallen over the last year and a half, but I still try to get out once in a while to work on my own stuff too
*quickly Googles to figure out where Sanibel is*
(me too, dfm)
3 hrs south of me dfm. Its just sort of a bummer because its sort of cold. and I have a race..
Zoom, I agree. SP is a gifted photographer.
red, are you running on the beach?
Smooth you have a lot of talent, and you have helped me in the past to improve my photography.....
really, red? Jeez! you guys are gonna make my blush here, in a second
no, we run by the mangrove preserve in Cape Coral...on the road I hope!
red, good luck on your race!
Really SMooth. My roseate Spoonbills once again won an honorable mention in the Audobon competition, over 6,000 entries.
good luck for your race, red! :o)
you helped me with something about photographing motion...
thanks dfm, I am terribly nervous.
how many words today?
awesome! way to go, red!
178
red, that is awesome
I have 176...missing two somewhere
fireworks
Yes, I am hoping to go to the Wildlife preserve down there on Sunday, and see if I can see more birds...
WTG Annie!
It's hard when you dont know exactly where the birds might be.
Whooo Hoo AnnieB!!!!!!!
I have 38 words.
I've actually been working on something pretty different. Studio work with models. Not just portrait, or simple fine art, but concept photography, building a scene and getting it in print. I'm working on a Memento Mori series right now... or at least, I'm trying to. But I've not had much luck getting the models I'd like to use.
Interesting Smooth. Depending on the models I think people would be interested...
wowsa .. great concept, but i'll bet difficult to capture
and so I must be off...any clues wanted before I leave?
Would be good to see the results, hope you put some up for us to view.
Well, yes and no... one girl is definitely interested, but lives about 45 minutes away, and just has a crazy schedule... so we've been having a hard time getting together. A couple others think it sounds like a great concept, but don't think that they would work well in front of a camera (by the way, I'm approaching people I know personally first, which is why all the trouble, I think)
123 clue annie, but I need to be off too.
zoom, as soon as it comes to fruition, you bet!
good luck red!
i guess i think the difficulty would be in trying avoid being morbid
I hope it will be fun and not so cold...
bye dear babblers
Thank you all. I will have Internet access at the hotel, so I imagine as nervous as I am, I will be babbling a lot.
do you use large format, Smooth?
safe trip, red .. good luck!
I use both digital and medium format, zoom
have fun red!
Still learning my self, so just use standard digital.
coming from film, it really is a learning curve!
Yes i can imagine, hopefully for the better, although for long exposure, i think film is still the best..lol
there are quite a few advantages of film. I'm still a big fan. But I work for a catalog company with quick deadlines, so digital is the only way for me to go with the product photography.
But there is something great about loading a roll of fuji velvia into my medium format camera and just pulling out those soft creamy colors!
cameras that can make good digital long exposures are expensive :o(
i have the Canon 5dmk2 and it is ok, but i feel i am out of my depth with it at the moment..lol
have a Rebel for travel and family has EOS 7d at home, but neither are that good when making 200s+ exposures :o(
Hey guys, it's been nice chatting, but I've gotta run... have a nice day!
bye smooth! :o)
Take care, Smooth..good to talk to you.
yes i find the noise just too much when you crank the ISO up or do long exposures..thats where film are king still.
even ISO100 starts looking extremely noisy on the 7d at 10 minutes. :o(
i also have the 50d and with the 1.6 cmos sensor i find the edges oare still sharp as the full frame 5Dmk2 is slighty out of focus on the edges..still learning.
did you not use the in built noise reducer?
noise reducer? :o\
yeah if you goto the menus and it might be on the second spanner icon..not sure on the 7D but you will find a noise reduction function..it is wonderfull on long exposeures.
my spelling is going to pot..time for a nap i feel.
ooh, heh, right, you also have different numberings in the UK.
have a nice nap :o)
tecti, tecta;
good morning everyone;)
guten tag, inge.. hi Babblers
howdy aloy
howdy crossy (-:
hi inge, crossy, aloy! :o)
howdy dfm:)
hi dfm!
crossy! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b1NyGmn 4D80
lookin....
no,,i do not put bacon in my soap lol
:)
you don't? :oO
i have been known to put bacon in my soup...
.. back, ding dong phone.. hi welki
i am again deluding myself and not scrolling down enough to see todays word total.that way i can think i am always near the finish;))
hello
((ruby))
hi ruby!
hi {{ruby}}! :o)
Good morning, snow bunnies!
howdy scwabby
hi Scrabs! :o)
hi there Scrabs, feeling better I hope?
Yes! All better. I am sipping coffee at Panera Bread and using free Wi-FI
watch your language, scrabs, I've had enough of the s-word to last the winter!
Winter is just revving up! To be able to cross-country skii and snowshoe already is a treat.
yay! glad to hear that.. last night we went to an event and the lady next to me at the table had "dragged herself" out of a sickbed.. she was still coughing and looked awful.. wished she had stayed home.. I tried not to breathe deeply around her, lol
ours is actually gone, surprisingly, but it was a shock to have so much, so early
In some situations, e.g. my office or other locations where nearby people are coughing + sneezing, I am tempted to wear a mask.
lol scwabbs, our snow is too deep and came too fast to snowshoe on with any use in the bush.i tried some yesterday cause we had a bit of a break and it is all up to my waist in the bush
I try to stay home and when I come back I scrub my hands -- haven't had a cold in years (probably just jinxed myself!)
wonder how effective masks are though.. well, at least they block the droplets that carry the viruses
the only time I ever went snowshoeing, I would up in a hole and had to be pulled out
The snowshoes can't support you?
airborne ones.. smaller than a mask can filter
they didn't that time!
I'm certainly not heavy!
it is all untrammeld powder ,oh im sure it keeps me 2 or 3 feet off the dirt but my legs vanish in the depths of it all
pretty though...
No, I mean Crossy. Snowshoes are supposed to allow one to walk on top of snow, but I suppose that light, powdery snow is a challenge.
it was a very weird feeling, felt like I could drown in the snow as it was up to my shoulders
we got a total of almost 2 meters from sat noon the wed pm lol
this time, it was only 3 1/2 ft but I didn't venture out except to flatten places for the pups
wow! big snow
Some areas around here have gotten over 4 ft of snow in the last wk.
no matter how good the snowshoes,it will not hold 225 pounds on to of 2 meters of powder lol
and my leg muscles...ouch!
that is a huge amount for so early!
Yes, Crossy, I see now that you are right. I have never snowshoed in deep powdery snow---yet.
dinner now, see you later!
bye, ruby!
I bought myself a new XC-ski package for myself for Xmas!! I received the package on Wed. They are "backcountry" skis--wider, shorter and with metal edges. I can bushwhack through the woods now.
Bye Ruby
bye ruby!
df, does your screenname represent something?
*has lovely mental image of scrabs heading off in the snow with the bunnies bouncing in her tracks*
oh an dhello all :)
hi FM! :o)
hi FM! listened to Lanza and ty again for the link.. wonderful (-:
won't mention the song, might stick in someone's head again
Sometimes I do think about putting one of the bunnies in a backpack, with a little head + the ears popping out, and traveling thru the woods. But I would be afraid that a predator would snatch up the bunny.
Hey Aloy - it was a lovely song wasm't it.
HI dfm!
and there were two possible next lines.. "softer than starlight" was one of them, quite poetic.. just beautiful
It was fun chat yesterday.
yes, sometimes whack moods "click", lol.. fun
whacky that is
It's nice to be wacky with others!
Scrabs you should get a pic of all your bunnies together so we can see them.
Yes, I MUST!
We managed to get jmc to get her webcam working so she could take a pic of her self and new hair do today.
good idea, FM... and then you could put them on a Christmas card, Scrabs
I am going to order a sandwich for lunch here at this bread shop, then will return here. I want to order before the lunch crowd tramples in.
Aloy--that is exactly what I thought of yesterday!
holy cow, had to look that fe6/7 combo up in my word book
Scrabbs, it would be adorable!
Would they grow in your climate Aloy?
don't leave your laptop unattended.. my daughter's was stolen at a coffee shop..:-(
lol, FM.. don't even know what they are!... checking dictionary
"green edible fruit"... h'mm, never heard of them. Are you familiar with them, FM?
They are part of the myrtle family
we do have lots of myrtle here.. will have to research it, ty for the idea
oh also called pineapple guava apparently.
Any help for I@(1,1), O@(2,2) and T@(2,5) [at 5/6]?
don't you love google!
no kidding! we have lots of strawberry guava, make jelly with it too
dfm, would love to help.. must first decipher your request..
you go in4 a room
I on first column, first row O on second column, second row T on second column, fifth row
ugh, I always miss that I! >.>
o, almost has positive wishes...
where are your brian cells today dfm?
the poet op4 the book to read a passage
pick an apple off the tr4
I almost always miss that in, FM... for t I have te4 4 5 6 8...
oops.. not the right t, lemme look
thanks amelu, aloy :o)
indian home(s)
have them
There is a te5/10 I think that comes from that bottom t.
te8: te + Alpo is **t food + I love French *r*** but they have lots of calories
I have from the T: te4 4 5 6 8
try te5, short and to the point
I refer you to my te5/10 post earlier.
oops, pb for me!
yup, FM had it
:)
I am back. No, I would never leave my laptop unattended. I put it in a bag, went to the counter to order and am at a new table--more private now. The lunch crowd will soon be arriving and then there will be no tables.
ah, got it... :o) thanks FM, aloy! a bit twisty, too many Es...
That te8--which French food is that?
wb Scrabs :)
te8 means to make lukewarm.
well, *makes lukewarm.
am missing one for fireworks and need to scoot.. anyone have a clue for the last st6.18?
usually I see it when I ask (-:
That is called the Periwinkle Phenomenon, Aloy!
got it!
it worked, lol!
Yahoo Aloy!!
wtg and Congrats Aloy!
Scrabs...what they serve at McDonalds with burgers
congrats aloy! :o)
TY so much, Molly. I was trying bread, bries, etc with ridiculous words being creating.
ty.. hate to go but must.. see you all next grid, I hope.. ttfn
Byee Aloy.
bye aloy! :o)
Bye Aloy. Enjoy the day!
fries?
bye aloy
Hi Jm
a few of the strangest words today for me were the per9/72 and ep8/50 and fe6 & pl. Can't remember seeing the in a grid before.
ep is an alternate spelling of one...
I think of yesterday?
Hi jmc, was juast talking about you a little earlier.
hi all
CLues would be gladly accepted, FM.
i saw FM
:)
The man at the next table is talking so LOUD on his cell phone.
Haz did a great clue for the ep8 - let me look back for it.
ep8 - Edgar Allen mixed up, Edgar Allen not mixed up, finish with a couple of vowels
scrambled Edgar Allan straight Edgar Allen and a couple of vowells
you were faster looking it up than i with doing it from memory
That worked my first try. TY
lol
With big words I usually mess up the first time I try the clues.
ntm i misspelled Edgar Allen the first time Haz would have my hide!
I did a quick Control f on the archive file.
missing one pe8...
i changed my icon -- couldn't stand to stare at myself all day
or possibly po8, but I don't see how one is possible.
Or maybe a pr8 -.-
:-)
take a vowel out of the 9 dfm
i did something foolish for christmas
uh oh?
oh silly alternative alternative alternative spellings -.- the 9 is aready alternative!
bought myself and the boy each an ipod touch
booked a flight to the UK?
there we go,hosed down this mas of muscle and ready to face the world:)
yay, jm. that's on my dream list
First of all, JMC...love the hair. The highlights look great. Now, what am I doing wrong. Someone mentions they changed their icon, so I refresh. And the icon is changed in the chog, but not in their profile?
lol i wish FM there are so many people there I want to meet now
mm you smell good crossy - hope it is OK to say that ;)
and here I was just trying pre + sc5... XoD
it is indeed:)
nothing molly you just need to close your browser for that
oh, also, fireworks ^.^
i like the hair but don't like looking at myself
so are you done dfm?
whoo hoo dfm!
COngrats, df!
yaa for dfm!
Congrats!
I spell the pe- with four vowels, not three nor two :o(
hmm what does the pe word mean?
and Enable doesn't like it. ;_;
Well then, there is no point in refreshing. I might as well close the browser and be done with it all at once.
part of a lobster (yay virtual lobster dissections.)
well sometimes refreshing works
mmmmm lobster!
molly, clear cache?
yum!
lobster??? where?!!
lobster is just sooooo expensive here.
there's not really much meat there... mostly gills and the legs...
it is expensive everywhere but on our east coast it seems, and there it is a poor mans stew:/
hehe... lobster buffet on NS: $14.99. Lobster buffet in ON: $29.99. hmm...
ooh that gave me the 9 ty dfm!
cost comparison time: A decent sized fresh one here will set me back about £40 if you can find one.
ouch
and that is from a fishmonger not a resturant
:o( poor FM, what do you do when you want lobster?
how about scallops?
they are about $6/pound here i think
in dubblin fair city, where the girls are so pretty,i first set my eyes on sweet molly Malone, she pushed the wheellbarrow down streets broad and narrow crying "cockles and mussels,alive,alive-oh"... mmmm crusteations
eeek allergic to scallops and all molluscs.
i meant scallops in the UK, where i amn't really :)
no i am wrong apparently they are up to $11 per pound
ok, so you are allergic, does that mean you have no idea what they cost?
Hi Hurshy. How is your father doing?
i hate mussels and never saw a cockle
here, they are so expensive, you just do not look at the tag..if you want lobster of any size, you just look the man in the eye and pay up
lol no it means they give me violent food poisening - didn't know this until I tried clams.
my dad MAY be coming off of the ventilator tomorrow or even today - not sure how this will correlate with coming out of sedation. unless he has an infection (there was a temp spike, they are checking). i would love to be able to talk with him this weekend!!
prayers for your da hurshy
oh fingers crossed hursh!
well scallops are my favorite, so i want to be prepared for how much they will cost if i ever DO get to move to the UK.
easy for me if i move to the U.K,i just take the cost of everything here and times iy by 1.7 lol
hurshy if you do come back to the UK - we will cover the cost of your seafood desires.
would be easy for me,i still have my limey passport, just have to renew it;)
"come back", i like that. given that my ancestors in various branches go back to roger williams and john & priscilla alden. it's been a loooooong holiday.
Good news, Hurshy. Often ICU patients take 2 steps forward then one back-- secondary infections, etc.
but I remember when you were over here and met up with Babbler :)
i know, that's what he's been doing.
lol, hurshy,my family also has a long, sordid history o,er there lol
did i meet up with babbler? i had tea with atalante at the ritz... shopping and dinner with bex and her mom in newcastle...
limey passport? :o/
ooo tea at the ritz
a U.K passport dfm:) you must get out more my friend
brits=limey
I never knew that, Hursh. When did you go over?
hello hello :)
hey FM, would it be easier to get in to the UK via Canada or Hong Kong?
hi ata! :o)
On cue, Atalante is here!
Oh I thought it was babbler you met at the Ritz.
howdy ata
because british sailors kept limes aboard their ships to keep from getting scurvy
well that trip was in... um... 2006? and then i was in cornwall last fall.
Ata!!!!!!!!
indeed
hi ata i thought you were frozen in somewhere!
I am!!
no idea dfm sorry. but both are soft options I think.
my granmum is in cornwall still..i hope
i didn't meet up with any babblers when i came last fall bc it was a tenth anniversary trip.
I think the UK handles HK passports issued after 1990 as international :o(
Hursh, good news about your Dad. Glad to hear it.
Ata dear how it it with you??
snowy! Sily keeps pooing on the stairs. and it's cold!
oh you still have snow! Thought you might have got some of the thaw that is going on.
Naughty Sily!
We still have snow on the fields and from where roads ahve been cleared but last night it didn't freeze for the first time in weeks.
name that proper noun! capital of bulgaria
warm today only -2 scrabby, maybe by tomorrow we shall have some good snowshoeing snow for you as this massive mound of fluff settles in:)
Sofia
ding ding ding!
:)
hello babble friends
home is clear now, but work is an ice rink
Hi Trif, how are you holding up?
okay, thanks. it
has been a ridiculously hard week, but have had a few good convos with mr. hates family that were v. illuminating, and very supportive, so it helped
I'm in the grid today too I would be a fi5/10 if I was valid. Glad you are getting some support Trif, that has got to help.
fiona!
Hi Trif!!
the big fight today is over the visitation this weekend. he is insisting that he and roomie sleep in the same room now, as "the secret is out" but I feel the children should be given some time to adjust, and it is just not appropriate for he and Jim to be sharing a bed when Tertiare is there, not just yet.
She needs some time to adjust, of course
*can't count but hursh gt it anyway :)
I was going to say "Riga" but I knew that wasn't right, Hurshy.
hi trif
hi jmc
hi hursh
and scrabbler
if it could count, i wouldn't put it in the chog!
mr hate is gay?
that's latvia.
And Riga is not in the grid.
yes, jmc, it turns out he is. He told the kids last week, and sent them home to tell me. Didn't even have the courage to do THAT himself
Trif, you cannot control what Mr Hate says or does. Your children are learning who he is.
OMG! well that explains a lot I suspect!
it did little to explain why he made me go to counseling for YEARS and blamed me over and over and over for not being a good enough wife.
WOW, Trif, that IS a lot for you and the kids to accept.
He told his sister in law that he mourns the time HE has lost, and is sure he would have found out years earlier if only "he wasn't burdened with the distraction of marriage"
Like I proposed to myself?
well he may have been trying to understand himself then trif
If he "found out" earlier...he knew already but didn't want to accept it.
my brother was proposing to women still months before he died of aids
and now he expects that he and his beau can share a room when the kids are visiting. Of course in time, maybe.....but after 1 week, with an 11 year old? um.....no.
well, you know, that football player on glee was picking on kurt and making death threats because kurt is openly gay, and it was all to hide the fact that HE is apparently gay himself. so it does seem like sometimes things might rebound on other people.
Trif, please get yourself screened for you-know-what stuff. Who knows how many encounters he had in the past.
not that glee is the best guide to reality...
trif i KNOW it is hard on you and the kids but stop and think how hard it is to spend years of your life repressing who you are because you are afraid to face it
Exactly scrabbler. He wants to meet for coffee tonight, and I am anxious as all hell, but interested to hear what he has to say.
And PLEASE understand me - there is absolutely NOTHING wrong with being homosexual. There is something HUGELY wrong, however, with being a coward and a liar and blaming your entire life on someone else.
actually hursh that is a common story -- i talk to guys in teh military who have come to grips with who they are after years of playing macho
Trif, do as Scrabs says just to be sure and safe.
lol,i had set the tree up but had not put the decoration box away yet and our tree topper has a coating of silver metalic sprinkles that adorn it and some must of shaken loose into the bottom of the box, well our black kitty thought that this box would be a great thing to play in,so he pounced into the box,it rocked back and forth wildly for 30 seconds and out pops this jet black kitty all covered with silver sprinkles!..i hope things get better for you from here on out trif, and please get the tests like our good Dr scrabby says.i must be off to work now tc everyone and happy babbling!!
i understand that you are not saying there is anything wrong with being gay
well it would probably help things a lot if we were less wedded to stereotypes...
Clue for the 9 please?
He has issues, weaknesses and personal frailties, as we all do, but to be so rude and disrepectful for the mother of his kids is unacceptable. he is so self-absorbed.
he had to know this was his issue, and yet he let me think, for years, that it was me. he left us in the dirt, poor as anything, when it was him all along
I'm sorry Trif. His comments must make you feel like you and your relationship with him was just a waste of time. That's unfortunate.
good advice scrabs!
Shame you couldn't get a pic crossy - have a good day.
lobster legs bettyanne and hello
I feel so stupid and deluded. 20 years of my life. and it was all a lie. Well, hang on. *I* never lied. I lived my truth.
Thanks and hello jmcnrick.
his life was a lie, not yours dear trif
and a jerk is a jerk gay or straight
You did live your truth Trif. And that is what you hang onto. What he's done is on him.
my gay brother was a complete and total jerk
Right now my biggest concern is my children. They simply must NOT be used as messengers, and he puts them in that position time and again. He consistently puts himself first, and it's not okay with me.
jmc, you say was, has your brohter gone?
It is a enormous adjustment for the kids--confusing, shocking, with all sorts of emotions and thoughts.
yes, apparently being gay is not a protection from being a selfish ass
my brother died of AIDs
on the other hand i think being a repressed gay probably encourages being an ass
Can't imagine how it feels Trif for you as his wife and then what the children think.
I went to med school with a guy who got married had 2 kids, came out when his kids were 5 and 3, had his first gay relationship, acquired HIV in 1994 and was dead in a year from AIDS.
honestly, I feel for his new partner. Their relationship is pretty much doomed, due to the fact that mr hate has NO idea who he is, how to tell the truth, how to put others first, or how to speak the language of life. Good luck, Jim!
now, on to the excellent, happy news -- new adopted puppy comes home tomorrow!
Mr Hate needs intensive, longterm therapy to get to a better place--his behavior reflects his confusion, his fears, etc
Bowie, right?
jmc would like to have your email addy - I have put mine in my profile (take out the spaces).
Bowie! There is a photo of him in my profile, fine handsome lad that he is
Afternoon, all. Just read back in the chat. Ay carumbah, Trif! There's a best-selling book in that amazing story. Getting rich is the best revenge.
did the last of the puppy shopping last night, crate and training area all set up, bowls clean and ready, all is prepared
LOL judi. Didn't Toni Morrison already cover this?
oh, wait...Terry McMillan, maybe?
what's the E that's the only one from its box?
those T M authors are so easy to mix up...
Me, Liza Minelli, Mrs. Cole Porter, and Terry McMillan all have membership in the same club. whee.
Possibly. You just can't make that stuff up.
I would settle for making it go away, judi....
I get that reference- I wonder if we can add Mrs Cary Grant...
Totally understandable.
Mrs. half of Hollywood's golden age...
oh, and I think Star Jones. See? Not so rare
Hi Judi and Kaplan
I am ready for a break--BBL
hey.
take care dear scrabs
my brother was apparently HIV positive for years even though he swore he was straight
don't ***nt, ***n of arc, with your ep4...
oh I am sorry, jmc. that is a hard think
thing
are his kids clear?
sorry for the delay i was talking to a client
FM i don't see the addy in the profile
Mrs Cole Porter knew before they married
sorry I just took it out as I thought you had gone . Will put it back in give me a sec.
okay
wish my lawyer would call me back! I want to know what my rights are regarding not sending tertiare on visitation, if I am concerned with the sleeping arrangements. well, she is concerned. She does not want them to sleep in the same bed while she is there.
she can refuse to go i suspect
So did a lot of them in those days- Louis B Mayer made sure there were marriages to be reported in Winchell or Hopper- I think most of Hollywood was closeted, except within Hollywood
she is only 11. I am not sure she can
did barbara stanwyck ever get married?
there you go jmc
got it FM
brill :)
I love it when brits say brill or brilliant!
If she did, she fought it all the way- Claudette Colbert too.
brill :-) Hi all.
Cary Grant lived with Randolph Scott for years.
Jury is still out on Tony Curtis.
wow,all three of my kids' real names are sort of here today
But- come on!
and we must not leave out Ma Kettle Hello everyone
wow, claudette colbert, huh? didn't know that one
Good evening Sally and all.
and Miss Hathaway from Beverly Hillbillies
Hi FMitch
i did not think there was any doubt about tony curtis
nancy culp? well....yeah. I can see that.
Marjorie Main. Zelda on Dobie Gillis.
Tony Curtis wasy gay?
and mrs keating from family ties, but only recently
Thanks Kap, I knew it was Marjorie but couldn't think of her last name
Well, there was a lot of Hollywood on the continuum. Joan Crawford.
dammit! what is WITH me and the lead lines for horses? I swear, I am completely blind to that word, every time!
oh fooey BRB
Oh! Thanks Trif.
LOL sally
I don't think Mom meant that Nancy Culp was gay. I think she meant that Miss Hathaway's first name is in the grid. : P
OH, dear! my goodness!
No- she was, reportedly.
oh sure I did Molly, Nancy Culp was gay
speaking of gay any word on NB
lol jmc and hello
((Molly))
I was just wondering the same thing -- do we have any info on what happened?
did something happen to NB?
I haven't heard anything jmc, feel something very bad must have happened.
**I feel so out of the loop**
I wish someone would say SOMETHING - it could equally be something very good. we just dont knopw
anyone ask JC?
what happened that makes everyone thing something has happened?
There was very cryptic early morning chat between JC and M9 about "what is going on with NB". I think that is all anyone knows.
hmmm
JC posted something which more or less said, isn't it dreadful, I have spoken to Frank, we'll talk further on msn. I am paraphrasing terribly here but that was the gist.
I was up in the middle of the night a while back and JC came on and was asking certain people to go to MSN
M9 replied that he/she was still in shock, so that sounds bad to me, not good.
What? What? What? Something is wrong with our Nancy Boy? *terribly concerned*
I remember that Mom. I wasn't up then, but I read that chat at the flip.
I really don't understand why there can't be a simple statement, without any private details, to those of us who are concerned about him.
This chat was earlier today?
I agree, sally, this whole secret society thing is most vexing
no Judi it was a while back
No Judi, days ago. Not sure how many. Sally, do you remember?
No maybe about a week ago, Judi.
Oh dear. That's how out of it I am. Did Eva mention anything? They're good buds.
No, you would have to search back for JC's postings I think.
I guess all we can do is send good vibes, thoughts and prayers (if you pray) out for NB.
I didn't think about it being about NB. I knew jC had a run in with some babblers so I was thinking that he wanted to chat but not on babble
Eva has posted that she's tried to get in touch with NB but had no luck.
Eva hasn't brought it up when I have been around
JC or M9 didn't put any details or info in their profiles, did they?
Perhaps Eva could ask JC.
my mom just posted on facebook a few mins ago that they are trying taking out my dad's breathing tube and see if he's ready to breathe on his own again!
wow, hurshy, will we pray for a good outcome!!!
I sure hope so Hurshy
Sending good thoughts to your Dad, Hursh.
Yes, thinking about your Dad Hurshy.
i REALLY hope he does well. if they have to put it back in, that would be unpleasant.
je 474546 jo 45 what am i missing?
je 7
ty
Finger crossed for your dad, Hurshy. What happened that he need a breathing tube?
*needed*
eeek, just seen there are 10 J words!
he had an aortic dissection last wednesday, followed by major major surgery, and has been in ICU ever since.
the J's were doable.

fe6 and 7 are /very/weird
Sorry for the delay. Computer just decided to re-boot on me. That sounds really scarey, Hursh.
best wishes to you Hurshy

No, just one jmc
where'd ya get those peepers?
(grin)
:-D
Loving that icon Une!
yes, I agree, fm, it's adorable!
she sleeps with me every nite :-)\
Oh, just noticed yet. Aaaaah!
That is my Christmas in a basket so now I am happy.
JMC, did you get snow in the city? We have a dusting out here, but it stopped.
trif, has your puppy arrived??
Sally haven't seen you today - all well in your neck of the woods?
ok, back later -- gotta run *poof*
BBL. Errands to run.
Yes fm, have been out all day so only came on a little while ago and trying to catch up with the grid! (and the chat of course)
lol and we were right about the hospital wedding!
awwww reindeer in sussex!
there were flakes but thta is all molly
The hospital wedding? What have I missed?
and creepy lady is not dead - I told you!
Oh sorry - t'was convo with Haz and Katie yesterday. Forgot you didn't have TV.
oh i already have the je7 so I will ask again:
Ah! What programme? Do watch some things on iPlayer.
je 474546 jo 45 what am i missing?

I thought FM was talking about another Babbler for a moment and was trying to think who it might be.
ah! wht my saviour!

off to pretend to work again
wtg jmc
must send out holiday party invites
Now back to work for me as well.
Sorry Sally - I got all excited about Corrie and then remembered it wasn't you that was part of the conversation. *blushes with embarrasment*
Oh, was that the one that was live?
yes
I've just got so caught up in it this week
Can't be nearly as gripping as who stole David's hay in The Archers :-)
Don't usually watch it. LOL The Archers now I haven't listeneed to that for a while.
So whom (who?) has stolen the hay??
I don't know, and frankly my dear ...
lo
l
Having just monkeyed the long pe words, I see why there all the lobster references just as I came on.
I would never eat lobster in a resturant but after todays grid I might go down to the coast and find a fishmonger.
come to whitstable!
I love crab, not sure if I have had lobster.
ooooh yes Ata
Lobster is like monk fish and hard fish with a good strong taste.
its *gorgeous*
actually what I realy want at the moment is whiting in tempura.
T had a lot of Morton Bay Bugs in Australia, which I think are like small lobsters.
with a wasabi mayo
can't eat whiting :(
oh, how come Ata?
allergy or just not appertising?
allergy
OK so you can have my clams and I'll take the whiting.
can't eat any oily fish - whitebait, tuna, sardines, mackerel ...
That's sad Ata. Love fresh mackerel.
so do I!!!
All right - I will take all your omega 3's but can't think of anything to relace them with for you.
How about egg and bacon sarnies all round with a good strong mug of tea?
mmmmmmmm!
lol
Are you offering FM?
Thought that might hit the tastebuds for most babblers regardless of the time zones.
Free entry into the PB Sally - help yourself.
What did I say?
nothing
lol, that's a relief, thought I had missed some vital word :-)
Will put some special Ludlow bacon in there for next time.
It is a cold December evening and what are babble buds supposed to do?
Sally, don't go putting bacon in the penalty box. Cross will come crashing in, tossing the joint searching for it. : P
If Haz was here she would have multipe puds on the go.
I think crossy might be good company :-)
crossy is great company
even when bacon isn't mentioned :)
mmmmmm bacon
Corrie is on again so am mesmerised to watch......
I don't think I've ever watched COrrie
Nor me Ata.
FM is obviously entranced :)
:-)
Entranced and exhausted
Why is it so entrancing?
not fair they use our emotions like that then throw in an add break.
have lots of people died?
because fictional characters are dying or or being saved and plot lines are bing extended .... OK I know!
this whole week is called 4 funerals and a wedding.
Goodness, that's a lot for one week. I must lead a quiet life.
well it is thier 50th anniversay Sally
It is rumoured there will be something major for The Archers anniversary next year (60th I think). We have been speculating on a murder in another group I belong to, and deciding who does what to whom and with what. A bit like an Archers Cluedo really.
watch out for those hay bales!
Time for dinner - Happy Babbling and TTFN.
Bye FM. Hope Corrie doesn't keep you awake!
bye FM!
Time for me to eat too. Three left to find when I come back. Bye fior now Ata.
bye FM and Sally. hello Atalante!
hey everyone else! *waves*
Hello All :)
hey sadie! long time no see! how are you?

oh thanks for the ep 8..... shades of onomato***** tough one !

TY!

that is an odd word
hey car! ((hugs)) better today?
that was the 9
Yes, Stid! Thank you for asking! Funny day though...baked cookies for Dylan's kindergarten class to decorate....they changed the date to NEXT friday but didn't tell me!
drop the middle letter for the 8
oh no! so what will you do -- keep the cookies in the freezer until then?
got the 8 - still need the 6. These have to do with lobsters???
pe6 french father and not off. another pe6 is french father and 2 vowels
oh nice of them to let you know car
thanks for those also, lynxxx
Nope! We decorated them anyway! A lot of the people who were sending in the frosting, sprinkles, etc had already done so and I had brought some with me too! I was only supposed to make 1 dozen cookies, but for some reason decided to make 2 dozen....good thing! Everyone got a cookie!
It honestly was just a mix up. I am no worse for wear with it! But the teacher sure was surprised!
yea you are right good thing
got that one - need the one before the 7
wonderful! so glad you got to do something fun with the kids. I so miss my kids being interested in those sorts of things... but they are disinterested adolescents at odd and unpredictable moments, so I generally don't plan too much.
I am glad the teacher could be flexible, too.
yea i miss that also was fun mine are adults now
And Trifioso's tertiare was with me yesterday making them, so it was all good! The BEST part....
was always fun assisting the teachers also
I couldn't find a rolling pin, so I just used a bottle of Stoli!
that one has Ava Mar** on the end of the father Hoot (I think, but I am not listing yet)\
anyway, have to get myself pulled together for my classroom time. (((Hugs))) have a lovely rest of your day, all!

Bye hoot!

Not a bauble nor a bit of tinsel yet Chez Soodle. I have to wait for the son & heir to come home and forage in the dark and scary attic for all our 'stuff'.

Just got back from seeing the Christmas lights display in the local State Park. 4 miles of gorgeous.
SOODLE!!!! Got your shopping done? I'm not doing much this year. That tooth extraction just about took it all out of me (Pun intended.)
time for me to crash
Night Ardilla. Sweet dreams.
hi all
(((((Gapeach)))). Was just reading your emails. Inspriational! How are your doing, my friend?
Hey Molly :-).... I hear you were looking for me? Do you have the photos of your candle yet?
Hey Soodle, here is a picture of the candle my sister sent me. http://media9.dropshots.com/photos/698 395/20101208/150606.jpg
I'm OK, hon. Got my flu shot yesterday. Hope all is well with you. How are the kiddos doing?
LOL Moll - our posts clashed. Can't wait to look..
Oh, Molly.....That is so special. It must make you very very happy. :-)
Carol...Everybody here very well, thank you. Looking forward to seeing the son and heir this day next week. Its been a month since I have seen him, and we are all really looking forward to the holidays.
That candle is a little piece of serenity during a sometimes difficult holiday season.
Molly - do you have any idea what sort of tree was used to make the candle holder? It seems so even, and calm....its just beautiful.
I'm glad that you all will be together. That is what it is all about, isn't it? Have a blessed
christmas.
I think it's Pine. Which is perfect, because I have a special affection for Pine trees. They are my second favorite after Willow.
(((((Gapeach)))) Thank you. Hey! Have you and Molly met? You are both lovely people, and I know you both would hit it off.....
bye all
Night TO.
Bye Temple. Have a great evening
brb
soodle ,have not seen you to offer condolences
Oh thank you, TO. It was a very very upsetting experience, specially for my 15 yr old daughter, who actually witnessed it. We are all still grieving here. I appreciate your kind thoughts. :-)
hi folks
hi welk
Hello Welki :-)
i read down that jmc is off for the weekend .. is she travelling?
Not sure, Welki... maybe just taking the weekend off. Good for her!
i think she was just going home frm the office
She has very important work to do. BOURBON BALLS!!
i'm trying to get motivated for a business dinner party
wish we could do a babble cookie swap
would only cost you airfare, to :)
Where's the party Welki?
well someone can think of something
at a restaurant ... nice gesture, but i'm tired of schmoozing
I get that. I have limited capacity to schmooze. : D
ROFL Welki. I love that word..schmooze. (not so fond of schmoozing, I just love the word!)
TO I like the cookie swap idea!
Yech. As a non-baker, I would be a social outcast at a cookie swap gig. I would be happy to be a judge, tho'...sample the cookies etc....
Soodle, you can be my sous chef. I will only require that you follow me around the kitchen, sipping Jemmy and tasting occasionally.
Ummm. I think I might be able to manage that, Moll......
Soodle, you are such a good woman. Always willing to take the high road for the betterment of all. Slainte.
Thats me! Always ready to sacrifice myself for a good cause. (As long as there are cookies and whiskey, of course)
Seriously, Molly.... I identify with you. I also hit the jackpot when it came to sisters. My only sister is an absolute Diamond. She is a doctor, married to a Vet, so money to them is not an issue, which makes it nigh on impossible to buy a present for her.
So, the candle in pine, complete with prayers is what she is going to get from me for Christmas. And I know she will just love it.
Oh Soodle, that's so sweet. Glad to hear that you have a golden sister too. It makes life's rough spots a bit easier.
By Golly, Molly, never a truer word spoken. I can't imagine my life without my sister. And I am so glad I had 2 girls, so each of them has a sister.
Hi MollyL, I love willow trees too. My mother got a switch (Not that I'd done anything bad of course), eventually I got the switch and planted it. It grew into the most beautiful tree.
Have sweet potato in microwave.....back in a few.
Welcome back Gapeach.:-)
can anyone clue the fe 6 and 7 please.
enters chat long and settles self. been a very exciting and long day.
Peach, I keep Willow switches in the car. It's supposed to be a travelers blessing. I braid them and give them to loved ones to travel with too. Am I Pagan or what?
feodin
RED! How was the race?
Molly, you should have sent me some today. I had a tire accident.
Race is on Sunday.
Hi all -- anyone here located along I5 in WA or OR that would like to give me a road report and or forecast for tomorrow ?
Oops.
Hello Red. Nice to see you. :-)
Hi Soodle, Hugs Soodle, its been a while.
Ew Nan, isn't it icky and snowy out there?
HI Cyber, I am in Sanibel Island Florida, no help.
hey all!
It's going to be very wet and rainy tomorrow nan
Hi stid mama.
Hiya Stidster.
hey stid -- what are the roads like?
floodwatches on in all western washington counties, but along I5 should be fine
you can check wsdot.wa.gov/traffic for information including road work that is being done
today it's dry and was even sunny earlier!
Sending sparkly blessings to Nan and all the roads she will be traveling on.
Indeed it has Red. Lovely to see you. And Hi Nan, ad Stiddy (((Hugs)))all round
OK - thanks - we plan on leaving Vancouver around 8 am tomorrow
I think odot (oregon dept of transportation) has a similar website
May the switch be with you!
that's a good time to do that. you'll miss rush hour in Seattle and Olympia, but might hit it through Portland depending on construction delays
hey soodles!
I keep typing "spondee" even though I can see it's not there! LOL
Mama... Have a look at my icon...two feet of snow!! the place has ground to a halt!
that's cute soodles! LOL and yes, I have been following the Ireland and UK weather with interest. Seems you-all are being slammed.
Oh.
Hic. Shure, begob and begorrah, tis terrible, to be sure to be sure!
we don't EVER get that kind of snow... and I hope we don't get it this year either. I have SO MUCH I need to do and being stuck 15 miles from the nearest town would get in the way.
BUT.... it has been predicted, so I am nervous. Will start laying in supplies next week just in case.
sclera is also not a wurd today, but I have typed it several times.
I freakin' hate snow. We had a dusting today and I was teetering on the brink of deep depression. Luckily it stopped and blew away.
*waves magic pixie dust wand so molly can sleep safely tonight* NO SNOW!
I am slightly nervous about the debate meet tomorrow. Every time I judge meets at that particular school it snows... *sigh*
but it's supposed to be precip from the "pineapple express" (straight from hawaii) so should be too warm.
*Waves magic pixie dust back at Stid so all is safe and sound for the meet tomorrow*
FINALLY have all the J wurds in case anyone wants help with those. Down to 54
thanks Molly! :-D
The weather seems to have gone mad altogether. I was snowed in here for 8 full days. Not a hope of moving my car..it was wedged in 8 inches of pure ice. Totally unheard of round these here parts. A thaw set in yesterday, but they are predicting more Siberian weather for next week. Sheesh
oh soodles, I am sorry. that makes it hard. turf or coal? which is better for such weather?
Coal, Mama, Coal. (If the flipping coal delivery men could get here.....)
oooh. that doesn't sound good. *worried mama look*
sorry I was distracted by TV. Is everyone fine. I am still getting over my tire explosion from today but am well...
wait wait. tire EXPLOSION???? 'splain yerself, young lady!
soodle I am sorry about the cold weather...I think cold is really hard to deal with.
Oh golly, Red... a tyre explosion?
My tire sort of blew on the Interstate. but it is OK now.
hm. "sort of blew" (wonders what this means)
A very nice man came and put my spare on and directed me to get a new tire...so I have now gifted myself with a new tire for the holdiays.
It totally came apart stid. the odd thing is that they are fairly new tires.
Well, clearly you are ok, thanks be to goodness, but, wow, that must have been terrifying, Red?
*approving mama look at nice people* good. and yes, new tires are appropriate in that case!
well, I saw the tire pressure light come on...and then the car seemed to be driving not so well, so I pulled over. I had to call a friend to think about what to do, how silly of me.
And Carlee had to buy new tyres today as well...Can we take this as a note to all
I think red... if they are fairly new you might have been under warranty? also -- do you know that tires have about 6 years from manufacture date that they are considered "safe" -- but sometimes tires are in the store for more than 6 years before they sell...
Babblers to check their tyres?
I am very very glad that you pulled over! Too many people keep driving, and then they really are in trouble
I think Stid what happened was that I had the tires checked today when it was 53 degrees, the guy inflated them, then I drove south and it got HOT to 75...and the pressure increased. so sort of my fault.
OH No Carlee bught new tires too?
Red... What a horrible experience. I am so glad you are safe and well.
oh boy. but -- the person who checked and then inflated them should have allowed for that red... I would complain!
It worked out. my big thing is that I still have the big race on Sunday...so my main focus is going to be on forgetting the tire and concentrating on that...
Check back over the chog in the last 2 -3 hours, Red. You'll see Carlee had to buy new tyres as well (curtailing her christmas-tree-buying activities!)
theres no realy way to prove anything Stid. and since the car and I are well...I think it best not to get too excited...
At least I had only one tire to purchase!!!
ah! I see... *sprinkles more magic pixie dust* RACE will go well... I see you finishing with a personal best... I see you greeting your adoring fans humbly and graciously...
Smiles at Stids Image!!!! thanks.
(I see you sending me a box of choclits...)
*grin*
LOLOL, if you give me an address, I may. Over Xmas I will be ging to a special store in Rhode Island where you can watch them make the candies!!!
And Red's acceptance speech will acknowledge the support of Babble colleagues....
indeedy it will. I shall serve champers and choclits.
oh gee red, don't tempt me! those special choclit factories are supposed to be most excellent
Sprinkling more pixie dust and blessings to all Babblers and their vehicles. Sending thanks that Red and Carlee are safe.
thanks Molly. I could still use some of those pagan charms
well, under 50 and need to crack the whip and get the boys to their pre-concert warm-up gig thingy. *sigh*
See you-all later this weekend! *poof*
I am off for a bit to shower all the road dust off and think about running...
:)
thanks all for listening to my agony.
*Weaving a Willow switch for Red* To put snow in perspective. We had three two foot snow events here last winter, and one came with a 30 hour power outage. I about lost my faith during that one.
*wanders back in to chog*
....(shuffling and mumbling.....Moll... as you are brandishing that willow switch.. could you send a couple of good vibes this way, please....
*Chanting in my best Pagan-speak...sending sparkly white light Soodle's way* Hi TO!
Welcome back TO. (
thank you Molly. :-)
Soodle, I bounced it off a star. I'm sure it's on it's way to you directly. It will be dusting the creepies out of your attic as well. There are wee people up there as I type this, dancing a jig.
Hi all!
Howdy Champ
someone gave me scrabble flash as an early birthday present...fun game! 11 year old has stolen it for the moment. 5 letter words...fun!
Molly! I look forward to getting the star from you. However.... I have no wish whatsoever to meet the jig-dancing inhabitants of my dark and scary attic. If its not too late, could you tell them to stay put??? LOL LOL LOL!!
*Sending an Exorcist to Chez Soodle* Champ...is that a computer game?
It's 5 different blocks, and they come up different letters. You put them side-by-side touching, and when you get the right word it counts as a point. If you guess the wrong word, and time runs out, you're out.
It's electronic, so the words change.
I just looked it up at Amazon. I might just make that my "after Christmas present". Looks fun.
VERY fun! Possible new addiction, as if I needed one1
Its time I retired. Once again, thank you all for your wonderful company. Good night/afternoon everybody, and I hope to see you all soon. Poof
Bye soodle!
Champ! sorry guys I have returned.
hey red! what's up?
my race is this SUnday. I have had of course the usual comedy of errors getting to the town etc...
yeah...
but one new tire later, I have arrived. I can smell sea air.
and I remembered my shoes.
GOOD FOR YOU!!! Why are you so worried?
for most of the time prepping for the race i thought I could not have a PR, so no pressure, now I think I might have a chance, so I am getting wound...
Please don't think about the PR!!! It'll mess with your head. You need to get out there and see what the day brings.
PR?
Personal Record. Runners get a little crazy about them...
oh, thanks. wasn't quite sure how it fit in with the running.
Red...honestly...just go out there, start slow, speed up when you're feeling the love, then go for it. You'll be fine.
it will be alright....
no matter what...
Heyas kids ..
hi org.
torg.
Sorry red...had some last minute cheer stuff for my youngest. Of course it'll be ok!!! I believe in you!!! You just gotta go out and believe in you too!
How's the grid, Kid?
Did I mention I'm not in love with this grid on the second half?
some really odd words today
hi tor

Ohhhhh...had it but had no clue what it was...how's that for smart? :)
that's a fish sauce? i thought it was a name
can't be a name, can it?
yes
huh, didn't realize it was a herring! the things we learn here in babble
put anchovies in my spaghetti sauce yesterday for the first time ever...big hit here!
but i guess, technically, it would have to be the fish sauce since Proper names aren't allowed...
9 left and i have no will to finihs
totally with you TO. 'Night all!
as long as i don't know about it being in my food, i'm okay with anchovies. just looking at them grosses me out.
night night, Champ

I signed up for an Italian conversation course - just came back from class tonight - very helpful

good ngiht babblers.
would you like to hear a Sicilian song? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NXw5vuV 0ZPE
it's like the Prego commercial "It's in there!" once it's in your brain, you just have to reactivate it
ep8?
ah, jbv, i just love to hear "Tu scendi dalle stelle"
it is so beautiful
THAT WAS FUN! thanks seain
sweet dreams TO...
i'm having trouble viewing it - it's not loading , i'll try again
glad yall liked. friend on LiveJournal posted it.
g'night TO
same here seain
e+ *** goes the weasle + 4 vowels, 4,2,3, 1 in that order. shirl
yes, that is a pretty song, JBV
bye seain - nice video - sounds like Napoletano
i love that dialect, so easy to understand
i get malformed video url
music to my ears
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iANRO3I 30nM
same as the tinyurl
holy what type of word is that?! thx lbd
bye!
night, TO
from greek, meaning epic poem or song, shirlockc
i guess it means, epic poetry, shirl. sure a hard way to get that po5 across
sicilian and neapolitan are close to spanish
well the Spanish ruled the Two Sicilies for how long? not sure but a long time
I suspect that's partly the celtic influence and partly the arab influence? and partly the norman invaders, and partly the goths? rofl... mediterranean property has long been highly sought after!
all of the above LOL
you forgot the Carthaginians!
Fernando of Isabela and Fernando was King of Aragon, Navarra, and The Two Sicilies (Sicily and Naples)
oh yes! and hannibal, and...
there were several Ferdinands, not necessarily in numerical order
LOL gotta go. see you-all again soon! *poof*
all of those indeed
seain have you ever been to Sicily?
it looks like Spain too
no, but i lived in Spain
i know, lucky you
beato te, as they say in Italian
he was Fernando the V of aragon, IV of Navarra, II of Sicily and III of Naples, and I of Spain
i think i have all those numbers straight -- it's been many years
wow, seain - that's great! I'm copying and pasting into my Italian notebook right now = thanks :)
Isabela basically ruled spain, and he ruled El Reino de los dos Sicilias for most of their joint rule
(i concentrated on that period of Spanish history in school, end of moorish rule, and the inquisition in Spain)
big year - 1492
Which nobody expected ..
i studied 1390 to 1520 primarily
LOL torg
we have a similar academic background, seain
and 1492-98 were some very, very interesting times, indeed
neat, JBV :)
Hi all. Sorry to bust in on the arrival of Columbus and the explusion of the Jews.
hi Jac :)
Well, that's as much as I remember from history lessons.
Hi JBV.
What s it with the world and expelling 'the Jews'? It's happened time after time.
paris has a long history of expelling and/or killing their jews
Even though they are a nomadic people, they DO have claim to a strip of land. Why not just give them that land?
Is the lesson from history, oft repeated, not learned yet?
who knows
dcs - true.
and i will take a moment to point out that most of the least politically restful parts of the world were divided up by the British.
Maybe calling themselves 'The Chosen People' didn't exactly ende4 themselves to the world? Especially since they sentenced the Messiah, they'd been told to expect, to death. Well, actually it was the Romans that did that in all truth.
hi all
would have been on sooner but i thought my computer had died died died
Hi jmc
evening, JMC
hey dc my office holiday party is next weds from 2 to 5
dcs - I think the British and the Dutch actually brought order to many part of the world.
i am making the bourbon balls with a new recipte
evening all!
oh, jmc?
hi, dan.
some parts, indeed so, jac
there are some interesting murder mystery novels set in Manhattan starting when the dutch was there and moving forward to modern time following a jewish and a dutch and an eglish family that all intertwine
I'm thinking about making cherry marzipan and chocolate balls for my daughter. Three of her favourite things all in a bite.
hi dan
but the British partitioning of the Ottomans and India brought little good, IMHO
sounds good, jac
jmc - and the novels are? I'd like to read them.
Dan, maggie sleeping through the night for you, i hope?
someone FM maybe had a lovely black cherry trifle recipe yesterday
hmm i will try to remember their names i read them several years ago
dcs - off and on yes. She's usually good for at least one 5-6 hour stretch. Sometimes longer
dcs - you are corect there. Terrible treachery happened on both the Indian and the English sides, but I think we have both (sides) come to terms with that now. At least in UK on both sides.
that matches my understanding, Jac, yes
brb
The Sikh's were heroes for us in WWII.
yes they were!
I think that's when we (both sides) realised that we were fighting for the same cause. And w welcomed them here and they us, there.
the author was Maan Meyers at least that was the non de plume of the husband and wife histrorians
Okay, I'll check out the author name, jmc.
not the best mysteries written but some interesting bits
I've bookmarked the site, jmc.
my daddy got off his ventilator today. he asked for supper. he got ice chips. he knows his birthday, and what year it is.
hursh - that's so good to hear. xxxx
hooray hurshy!
oh, wonderful news, hurshy!
that's great news hurshy
could anybody clue the lone E?
yes and tomorrow i get to go see him!
wonderful news hursh i am so happy for you
a woman's name dan
e + **t**urri + three more vowels
er4while
sorry i was wrong :-(
hurshy, queen of boxes
It's been so long since I finished the grid, I can't remember what the lone e was! sorry.
wow hursh - that must be it, but I can't suss that clue
yes I got a late start today
the word with the stars is dried stuff that you have in a bowl or sachet that smells nice.
got it! tx
ep8 and fe6 & 7 are fun to find. Try using any of those words in your everyday conversation.
fe6 i use in portuguese
it's a brazilian bean stew
je7/52 where'd you get those peepers?
don't forget the long pe's
and the te8
Who could forget the long pe's? LOL
it's maddening when so many of the long ones are so weird.
hello friends. any hint for the n on the right? I just can't budge it!
They're only weird if you don't know them. And, no, they weren't familiar to me.
dc that brazilian word has a D in it
greek temple and pl
no4/4 trif
Hi Trif - sister's daughter and plural maybe?
and then, what you are to your aunt or uncle, and pl
oh, gads. FISH
just couldnt see it. feh. it happens
oh, cosfusing the stew with the fruit again. Silly Brazilian.
maybe someday i'll get the Brazilian down
i had broccoli-cheddar soup at a restaurant today. usually when people say "broccoli-cheddar soup" they mean "cheddar soup with a few token crumbs of broccoli thrown in to make you feel like you're being healthy and eating your vegetables". but this was really half and half. bit too much pepper for my taste, but overall, impressive.
sounds good, hurshy
dcs - can you stop saying 'Brazilian' please? Once, I would hve just thought of the country or a tasty nut, but these days, Brazilian has another more painful meaning.
i don't like how words get ruined like that.
Not that I've ever had one! The wax or the man. LOL
i want to still be able to sing the flintstones' theme song without people misinterpreting it.
Have a gay time, hursh.:-)
I know what you mean!
had one of those tonight! coffee with mr hate...
Trif - yo got waxed and then had coffee??
with a guy you can't stand?
lol. no, a "gay old time"
maybe it was just brazilian coffee
i've never understood how gay differs from happy or merry or bright
see, there she goes!
well, i guess i should say differed at this point
i can tell you how they feel different to me...
we have to be able to be in the same room. its best for the kids
oh, pleas do, hursh
Well, the word 'gay' has been hijacked by the media as an acceptable term to use rather than homosexual, or what I would rather term as othersexual.
happy feels warm and quiet. merry feels laughy and enjoying wholesome pleasures. gay feels sort of like merry but with an added nuance of possible recklessness.
it was pretty interesting, for sure. listening to him to on and on about how our marriage wouldnt' have worked out anyway, we didn't communicate that well, blah blah blah. I was all, Yeah, and as it turns out, YOU ARE GAY
Hursh - well defined. I like that.
oh, what lovely nuance. ty, hursh
I agree, well done, hursh!
and bright, i don't think of as a feeling at all - i think bright lights, intelligence, etc etc. so ya got me on that one.
Oh, Trif - so sorry! I did see your posts a day or so ago. I remember what you are going through now.
tell webster's to hire me :) lol
its fine, jacula. i haven't spoken of it much since i found out. I was really thrown for a loop, but I am getting acclimated now. it was the lying, and the way he told the kids and made them tell me that hurt me so much
i'm a terrible person; some friends tell me my memory is legendary re their lives, but others, more newly met on the net, probsbly don't think I care at all. Truth is, my memory's not so sharp now re new things and new friends.
Trif - I do understand your pain, at leat re the lies to you and your family. My ex wasn'r 'gay' but a womaniser.
but you got through it Trif?
did you find out if you could keep trecere home?
As for getting the kids to tell you lies, my ex tried that, but they wouldn't do it.
i survived coffee. I still think he is 90% full of crap, but we will see what comes from tonight. it would be nice to not be so angry
that's rough, trif
That meant I got really hurt at times, but I came through.
well i will say i am a tiny bit more sympthetic to mr hate than men who are womanizers
i would like to meet his partner. I think if he is going to be around for a while, and part of my kids life, I should
they are both liars, jmc, just of a different kind
i think you should too trif but no reason to rush it
Trif - he's probably 98 per cent full of crap.
the difference is that mr hate was repressing something out of fear
but both liars indeed
Trif - leave it 2 or 3 years to meet his partner. Make sure it's still the same guy.
yes, he was. or shame, I guess, which is just so goofy, because there is nothing wrong with being homosexual
well there is still some societal pressure against it even now and it was worse when you were younger
but still, that does not excuse the financial shape he left us in, or the choices he made. on the one hand, he has discovered he is gay. on the other, he is a cheap bastard and a complete narcissist
and i have no idea how his parents acted
oh, and adultery! I forgot that one.
The only thing wrong with being homosexual is if you hide it and marry a woman to save face. However, it happened in the past and will still hapen for some time in certain families, i think.
abosolutely the cheap bastard and narcissist is not excused
he claims this is something he only discovered recently, though certainly months and months before he said anything to me
it just helps to get over the anger to try and see the other persons side
Jumping back into chat to say that people who cheat, are people who cheat. And betrayal is betrayal. Womanizer, manizer...betraying your partner is wrong.
<==little mary sunshine
He can't have discovered that he was 'gay' recently, he must always have known that. As for the financial side - he's just being a total shit.
anyway, no more talk of mr hate. He and I took our first steps in to a bigger world tonight, and my prayer is that somehow this will enable a lessening of the tension that has plagued all of us for years. it's bad for the kids, it's bad for me
again i am not saying mr hate is a good person just suggesting a way to look athim with less anger
may it be so, trif
Molly - I agree!
thanks
i agree dc
ugh phone
Trif, bless you sweetie. You are taking this incredibly hard to deal with situation and moving forward to the better place for all involved. Those nice things being said, I would still like to give him a big ole kick in the ass for putting you and your kids through all this dramatic crap.
Anyone need any grid clues?
i'm about to list, so not yet, thank you, Jac
no doubt i will need some soon jac
okay dcs.
