I always hated that poem "...Go down to Kew in lilac time..."
Well, bedtime for moi -- 41 left for the morrow -- goodnight all and *poof*

only a few more months...
not soon enough!
I agree, am sooo ready for gentler temps, more colours and lots of sun.
hello all - am looking for ae and found a e i o u - pity not a word
i just want my heat off :)
lol ursh..
which ae?
hi ursh, LOL
ae6
ae + opposite of southwest + another 2 letter word for we
tsk, silly ursh. for a 6 you should have tried a e i o u y, of course.
tx cosdem - nice clue
morning all how many words today please
stole it from someone i forget who :)
hi sandra, 159 today
159, sandra
thanks
30 left.
thanks cosdem
105 left!!!!!
almost there then :)
well ive been at this for 2 hours :P
satan isnt accepted
must look up that word... thought it was a mythological name. Ae6 and Dido... had to read that for my finals. The man with the epitheton ornans 'pius' (devout, godfearing). Beautifully explained by my classic teacher as: even if Ae6 curses, he can still be called pius.
nor is saran
Satan seems to need a capital. Funny, considering, grin.
the last sa6 is my friend's name :P
ah, I see, it can also mean bronze, mostly in combination with botanical names.
makes sense. her parents were hippies
groovy, man
could be worse
could be named something like sunstarblossom
any clues for the di7?
or Petra Oil
(no kidding, a neighbour of mine actually called his daughter after himself, in dutch, Peter Olie and Petra Olie.)
theres a former u.s. senator whose name is roland and he named his son roland and his daughter rolanda
what an an4 cavity.
lol i know
15 left.. all 4's and 5's
time to bring out your monkeys then. I still need 98.
but its not 130am there right?
heck no, it is 9.28 am. Whole day left!
i still need to read my book.,... but thats ok i have nothng to do tomorrow
study book?
no.. i cant sleep without reading a book first
ah, a going to sleep routine. Also very important. I use sudokus for that.
funny cosdem - book is my sleeping pill - will read even if get to bed very late
i used to do that...
if I start reading a book, I want to finish it... one more chapter... just one more chapter... just one more...
amen to that ursh :)
lol i have to be careful sprite because i do that too.. lasdt night i ended up going to bed at 5am lol
grin, sounds familiar
but reading's important so i dont mind
so is doing sudokus... oh no, it isn't. Ah well it is fun.
i should download sudoku for my kindle
I am someone who always worries too much. Doing a sudoku seems to put my mind in a different gear, works very well!
fireworks!
wtg cosdem!
clues b4 i go?
not for me yet, thank you.
ok have a good day :)
you too, and sleep well :)
well! there goes my plan to lurk.....NOT going to lurk when there is a sprite in the chog!!!!
Trifffff!
*hugs* to my soul matey!
are you there insomnia? It's me, ElizaBeth....
HUGS back, but mind, I am still in my jammies, so all apologies
hmmmm you look cute in your jammies :)
Hello - any clues please for di7 ?
don't have it yet
not as cute as Indy does in my new profile pic....my daughter took that yesterday, and it's so stinking cute I can't stand it! those eyes!!!
oh my god that is soooo sweet :D
secondo is really developing a keen eye for photography, isn't she?
it is an amazing shot, actually. Could be a poster or card or book illustration/cover without any problem.
I did try to see about her becoming one of those people who sells images online to stock photo companies, but we havent had much luck there. she sent some stuff in, things I certainly thought would have sufficed, but they were all rejected. idiots.
keep on trying, I'd say. Someone should have a grain of sense some day.
di7 = di+2/3 of feline+plus reagan's first name
di7,1st 4 letters of something you go on to loose weight but different spelling and shortened mans name
its one of those things, I guess. we went to one site where the man who writes the blog makes BANK selling his photos, so of course she thought she was in the money
just don't let her give up. She will get there in the end, all she needs is that first foothold.
wow, nice job ursh and lilliann....enable is at it again, I see -- no defnition
thanks sprite. will do.
thanks, good clue
so, in other news....I am thinking the house needs a bit of a spruce up. Now that mr hate, and lots of the furniture, are gone, the house, particularly the downstairs, looks so....I don't know, empty? I am thinking of doing one of those redos like on HGTV, where you redecorate with things you already own
trifs ur up early
that is fun! And very empowering. Once you are on one of those creative surfs, I bet there is no stopping you.
I was at a book club meeting last week, at a home I hadn't been in before, and it was so homey! not fancy, but so so so lovely. little touches from their travels, comfortable seating arrangements, etc. I would love to emulate that sort of aesthetic
you too carlee!
sick with a flu
homey is so much more important than fancy.
hmmm. Not sure, sprite. I am creative enough, but decorating does me in. I am just not confident with it
woke up coughing and barking...
LOL sprite, it's my only option, at this point!
seems to go around
oh, carlee, poor you! I hope you get better really soon, but flu is one of those things you just have to wait out, isn't it
u add YOUr stufff to the mix trifs
yeap you do..this a chest version of flu
lol Trif, go for it. Make it totally yours. After this project, you will be fully confident
are you on antibiotics?
i want to do some kind of textile wall hanging something or other in my living room..not sure what yet...i have started a felted throw for family room
flu takes about 14 days without seeing a doctor and about 2 weeks with.
I am worried about pneumonia starting up
LOL sprite!
for the flu????? antibiotics work on bacterial..not viral..flu is viral
OMG carlee, I swear to god I am not making this up....in the ten minutes I was asleep tonight, I had a dream about felting rugs
for chest flu I recommend rest, sleep, warmth, a good coughing syrop to help bring up the bad stuff, tea with honey (plenty to drink) and about a shipload of patience.
i just bought up a crap load of mens wool sweaters yeterday and felted them all...cut them up..today..i start piecing
got the cough med's the cough woke me from my sleep and now am here
please post photos of your progress! how do you piece them?
will sew together...but you have diff widths..i have to cut to squares/ rectangles and and..ok..will take pics this am ( like when sun up) of my stack of pieces
wow, sounds really cool
cus sleeves more a trapzoid...not sure if i want everything square or if i want to accomadate the odd shapes
i got greys/ blacks/ browns and i found a couple patterned purples that had either black or beige and a couple beige ( one an argyle with purple in it)
i love argyle anything....
so i started with mens extra large..and now they would all have fit a 3 year old
but for 50.00 i will have a 100% wool one of a kind throw :)
do you put a backing on it as well?
no... just a wool throw...no need for backing is SOO thick...
i keep house temp set low....in family room its cold...so you need a blanket just to sit
i do the same, around 60 degrees, but I am thinking I need to bump it up a little, as I have had at least one sick kid around here for about a month now, and realize they might be a bit chilly
oh dear
its ok..when you are gaming the kids dont notice..but if i watch a movie..i do :)
god forbid my kids should, you know, put on a sweater if their cold....
mine do
to be fair, I need a chimney sweep to come and do the chimney, and I can't seem to get one to answer my calls, so the house has been extra chilly due to not having the fire going
my next house WILL have a fireplace..and if it doesnt..i am putting in a stupid electric one in my bedroom
sorry, popped away to google more chimney sweeps....back
wb Trif
Hello everyone - nice crowd
hello lynxxx
hi lyn :) xxx Did the little dog statue arrive yet?
hi trixxx
hi Sprite - yeah, bleeding awful, lol
am glad :)
a new puppy Trif! how lovely
this grid is bleeding awful
thanks lyxxxx. he is GAWGEOUS, isn't he?
He is! a lab?
ummm. mutt, with lab overtones.
stree
meth lab
*snorts*, sorry
nope, not valid. Try again :)
It's *always* not valid... you'd think if I used it enough times it'd become 'a word constantly entered into babble' and therefore defined as a word.
if only, City. If that were the case, 'oreo' would have become a babble word a lonnnng time ago.
I came up to the chog box to say I like Trif's pup. Not to 'stree' all over the place.
and reet
thank you city!
very kind
he is a pretty boy trifs
lol @ oreo - I do that one too. Thank you for the new one, 'reet' Trif ;)
OMG city 17, your cs lewis quote is SO GOOD. I may steal that....
I agree, Trif. Great quote!
I have stolen that.
I liked it, and the Franz Kafka one --- 'a book should be an ice-axe to break the frozen sea within us'.
that is a great quote...i agree..i'll let trifs nic it tho
I have always liked groucho marx: 'Outside of a dog, a book is man's best friend. Inside of a dog it's too dark to read.'
lollllll
Hah, Trif, I'd forgotten that one - they used to have it printed on Waterstones' (chain book store) bags here in the UK.
I know waterstones! used to haunt one in Dublin
They have a knack of choosing really nice buildings (de-commish'ed banks etc) and always have a lovely atmosphere, beyond that of just 'a shop with books in'
There's one in Birmingham that feels like a tiny book-cathedral.
oof, this grid is hard. 73 words in, and still not nbt
wow, city, sounds like my idea of heaven!
98 words in and nbt either, trif
92, and trying 'oreo', thanks Sprite.
grin, so sorry, City
oh man, thank you city!!!! reading about the book sellers made me think of a library a couple of towns over that has AMAZING book sales twice a year, which I had forgotten about....looked it up, and the sale is saturday! so thanks for that city!!!
45 and nbt
now I am jealous. Wish I could come, Trif!
all right then, smartycarleepants, clues for the u's please????
and no nbt..sorry
actually you DO wish sprite! every time I go I end up with a push cart full of books for about ten quid
am flipping between here and a live cam of owls
yay, I hope you make out like a lucky library leprechaun :)
i have ut4 ut = ** the world turns
all I have is ur5/14, having to do with pee. Ur + mixed up frozen water.
they see me coming and go get a rolling cart....it's so funny! Primo and his GF got their photos in the paper at it last year....it's your basic word nerd orgy
oh my.... really jealous now!
thanks sprite. I have one ut4, and that was it, until your clue
yvw :)
the best part is buying a) big coffee table type art books for primo (for .50 cents) and b) buying silly chick lit pink books that I normally would not be caught dead reading, but for a dime? bring em on!
sounds fun...our library here sells rubbish
I would be all over the large art books, what a find!
next time bring me a cart load of fantasy and thrillers, lol
the people who organize it deserve fully marks - they Dewey decimal each and every book donated for the sale, and it takes over the entire bottom floor of the library - with stacks - so we are talking thousands of volumes
*full marks, sorry
wow!
Wow, Triff, my envy levels are spiking... we only have a small library in town, their sales tend towards Barbara Cartland novels and books whose dust-jackets have been dipped in ketchup.
back in a sec
ok..51 and nbt
carlee, have mercy on me and throw me a bone for the top row e, please?
can you clue the top 'e' for me, Carlee? I've 93 words, and it's still AWOL.
(((secretly hoping sprite checked out to google flights to boston for the weekend....))))
old french coins
e+ not a sister or a brother...a 1 removed relative of sim age...spelled incorrectly
bless you, dear one
Thanks Kateq & Carlee.
nbt!
there u go trifs
nbs too!
i dont have that..not seriously looking..watchng owls
Well, I've ignored the fact that the day is getting ahead of me quite long enough ... bye everyone, enjoy the owls, Carlee, and the books, Trif.
later city
city, I am forever in your debt, thanks so much!
back. Just hate it when nature is a phantom and still it calls.
bye City
were you able to book a flight to boston for this weekend then, sprite?
ok..1 more for nbs
LOL Trif! I sooooo wish. And not just for the books.
me too....
ok..nbt/nbs in 61
one day.
just realized I have to work at ten this weekend, and the sale runs from 9 - 4. wondering if it's better to go first thing and get the "good stuff" or wait until after work, when I can loaf and linger, but the first pass will have happened already
good morning everybody! Welcome back sprite!
morning ruby!
I'd say why not do both, Trif
morning rubyfoo
hi ruby
http://www.ustream.tv/channel/owlceans ide
both owls in right now...
SO cool carlee!!! thanks for sharing!
with 4 eggs another egg expected later today
which kind of owls, carlee?
hello trif
there another one that has 8 eggs..and everyone is kinda shocked at the sizes of clutches...normally 4 or 5 eggs...but loads of 7-9 clutches this spring
barn
carlee, is that the noise they are making? can't tell where it's coming from
mel ( the male ) in front... sydney in back with her eggs
they hiss they dont hoot
when I was productive (in the olden days haha), I made many drawings of owls, all but one of which I sold, much to my (now) regret. But I needed the $$ at the time
so yes..that is the noise that they make..unless you are hearing crickets
mummy is eating a rat now
ty for the word, carlee!
these 2 cuddle alot... lots of birdy kissing and he is still covering her all time ( which of course means lots more eggs on way)
welcome ruby
omg, she just stepped on her eggs and I almost had a stroke
she woulndt put weight down
how many sq ft of sweater did you end up with, carlee?
once the eggs hatch these sites are fun...3 days from now we have babies
i dont rightly know ruby..enough for a nice lap blanket..its bloody heavy
30* days from now
heavy is good!
I am going to try to get a little sleep before the alarm goes off....love to all
i started with 9 men's extra large and ended with 9 toddler sized sweaters..ut once i cut the sleeves up too
{{trif}}
byebye trifs
bye Trif, *hugs* :)
did u get your squares out ruby?
:( not yet....
you will when you are ready :)
terrible stasis for me
it'll happen :)
maybe you need to thinnk of a way to "finish" it..perhaps you are not happy with what u envisage and u need some cretive little "thing" to finish it in your mid to make it work
that happens to me
I hope you're right, carlee
but you sound very active!!!
and your sweater project is brilliant!
do i have u on fb?
cus was going to say..get out the squares...and take some pics..post..sometimes you yourself will see somehing in apic that you didnt before..jsut the way is framed.or i could look and maybe with fresh eyes see something
I just looked for them and discovered that when my son was here, "organizing" my studio, he put them some place else....now, to search
hahaha..i thought perhaps u were looking
he meant well, I'm sure, has been looking at those squares for ages!
ok..i have 60 words left...going to turn on morning tv and hope to fall asleep
bye carlee
have 1 more guzzle of buckley's and drift away..i hope
sleep well, carlee, you can give me more inspritation later! lhahah

fun can do more good than sleep, sometimes :)
actually one of the cats woke me up, he got a mouse... but now it got away from him, darn!
yay, half!
we have a mouse family living under the bird feeder, sparky 1 and 2 and rusty
they appear to be building a nest, very cute

3 left
rusty (obviously) has a bright brown chest
ur + first 3 vowels in order
see yu later
bye rubyfoo, enjoy lunch and tell your hb hello from me
I love mice. Well, not inside the house, of course. But those cute little hands...
yes, I always feel kinda bad when the cats get one... thought this one was already gone, really, but then it sprang back to life and got away, cat and I were both surprised!
smart mouse :) Yeah, it is sad, but also just nature.
fireflies at last. Anything you'd like a clue for, rbud, before I go?
congrats! no - I'm in good shape, thanks. :)

I think people who enjoy a "normally challenging" grid will be happy that the longest word is fairly easy to find.
it was Molly
mornin babblers!

*Soodle has made my mind start singing "I'll Tumble For Ya"*
good morning everyone :)
Hey Nan, Happy Friday
hey all
Morning folks
morning bob
hi dorens bob
Dorens, how is your weather? More importantly, how are your roads?
well it looks like only about four inches or so... my buddy is shoveling the driveway now. I think I'm more concerned about the roads up in CT and Mass... but I'll find out later... Not planning to leave until after noon. how about you?
bbbbbbbbbooooooooooooooooobbbbbbbbbbbb b
i should belooking at weather channel, news, etc.but would rather try to do the majority of the grid first... just passed halfway so i might go be productive in other ways now.. particularly since chog is messed up
what is wrong with the chog?
just watching the weather channel -- Boston looks dreadful!
What do you mean Peri?
Dorens said chog is messed up
Ah sorry. Dorens, why do you think the chog is messed up?
how?
have no idea
what is chog?
This chat box is chog
The chat log mkg
maybe it's just me...when there are long ones like bbbbb from invictus, the size changes
so why call it chog ? just call it the chat box. and i dont see that anything is wrong.
i'm hoping that by four o'clock or so Boston will be all plowed out! and the highways clear and dry!
could be your computer dorens.
i see that the sizxe has changed and i have a slide bar at the bottom that has never been there before (i think)
Kap are you in MA?
what i ifind (and others have reported it before too) is that more text is entered than can fit horizontally, so you need to slide back and forth to read it all. that may not be with everyone... no biggie
my right hand side of the chog is cut off today
exactly my point, thanks wvt
I am in MA, yes
has snow stopped yet? how bad is it? (i'm driving up there in a few hours from nj)
No, still coming down
Hello folks - still snowing heavy in NH - supposed to stop early afternoon.
must you go today, Doren?
that is why i'm planning on waiting and leaving later
61 left, bbl
peri, this is my monthly visit to my grandkids, and Phoebe really wants me to be at her swimming lesson tomorrow morning at 9:30... she is now swimming unaided and wants to show off
i am a fool for her and will do anything just about
i love being a grandma nad know what you are saying
yup... and they live about four hours away, so this trip is sacred... one time when she was six months old i actually drove in a raging blizzard.. will never forget that drive, but the prize at the end wass worth it
i'm sure it was - mine are right here, but when the 4 year old was born they were down in Tennessee and we made that drive
lucky you
We fly out to CA about 4 times a year
that makes the four hour drive seem like nothing... everything is relative
well now i'm 2/3 done.. probably ought to go pack up and get ready... bbl
have a safe trip Dorens
i have the toy basket in the living room, a booster seat in the car and her "Princess" cot in the bedroom. We have sleepovers most Saturday evenings. My daughter-in-law goes back to work next week and I will have the 2 1/2 month old on some days
i am so jealous.....
Good morning kids!
morning scrabs
I just ventured outside to find my newspaper. Ours are in an orange plastic bag and tossed at the end of the driveway. So it is a treasure hunt in the winter to locate that bag.
How is the snow your way, RD?
snowing heavily now - are you getting it in NY
3rd storm this week - my kids have had 1 1/2 days school this week
We got another foot overnight but fluffy, powdery snow. XC-skiing will be great this weekend. I am giving my legs a rest today, I think.
This is kind of a slow grid. 61 left but it's been draggy.
I agree Kap - got 36 left here
124 to go but I have not put much effort in yet.
I don't understand why the chat box is off for some and not others.
It is?
How dod you mean Molly?
BRB, changing laundry in basement.
mine is fine today
good morning everyone:)
hello crossy
hi crossy
ae 6, please?
Hi Bichon, Crossy and Nan.
Good morning all. Glumly returning from sunny CA
finally got NBT and NBS
Go wv.
hi scrabs
where were you bichon?
ae 6 is like butt with a couple of e's thrown in NAN
With Marco and Polo?
our snow advisory was just issued, not much to come, just 5 inches or so,it is the lake effect of blowing and drifting that will be a pain
iN the Bay Area for 2 weeks. Visiting kids and grands
I did see Marco/Polo, but am awaiting news of their flight
lovely :)
I need the 4th colum u for NBT
ut4
ty ruru
hints for the J?
Hi Ruru!
hi scrabs.. good morning
I have one j two vowels + plural letter
I have only je4 = je + nylon poly**ter
should be up here with me scrabbs, our snowshoe and x-country trails are golden today.perfect conditions
hows about the E in the same column?
en5
en + are you s*** of that fact
though i am sadly out of shape,no x-country for crossy, but i am getting in 2 km of snowshoeing
stats for first row e, please?
I need help making a decision. A group of us are considering doing a hiking trip in June to Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon and Zion Ntl Park--total cost will be about $3000 (guided hikes, airfare, lodging...) and I am so frugal yet this would be a special adventure.
e + **tting teeth + pl letter
Do it scrabbler.
life is made of great memories and loved ones and friends...do it
It is in June, you could easily save the money for that trip by June....
Go for it Scrabs. But it is hot there in the summer
you will kick yourself if you do not
ty bichon
what are you saving it for,you cannot take the money with you..do it
bryce canyon is incredible
Crossy, we got a foot of fluffy snow overnight so skiing will be great here. I was going to rest my legs today and go the next 2 days, but I might get out today anyway.
ty bichon
yvw nan
go scrabs -- life is too short not to do the things that appeal to you!
agree with ruru bryce is beautiful.
Zion is okay
do it scrabby..enjoy..and take a ton of pictures
I'm going to be shoveling. That is a snow activity, right?
you m ust go - life is too short to not take advantage of these times
HIking the Grand Canyon is arduous
what else were you going to do this summer?
there..the vote is in..order the tickets
Another area around there is Arches National Park in Moab, UT
you must be in really good hiking shape for that one
TY for the push, friends. I am so frugal, so NOT self-indulgent, so afraid of flying, but this would be special--my youngest sister, 1-3 friends...we are thinking about this.
Arches is wonderful.
Go for it scrabbler! tho hiking in those places are pretty hot in the summer!
we enjoyed bryce and zion even more than the grand - enjoyed rafting trips on the snake river - canyons are beautiful
Scrabbler, Self indulgent would be a years worht of chocolate and a HUge TV...
Take lots of water on hikes. I usually take a personal hydration device plus two water bottles per day
I will do 2 other trips to the Adirondack Mtns, once in July, once in August, for kayaking + hiking. Those will cost $500 or less.
The heat will be an issue. I have a 3 liter hydration pack.
grand canyon is really hot in june
But, yes, why say "Not now, but someday I'll do it."
Last summer we were hiking in Maine during a massive heat wave. We took along water purification pills. Very smart move
I'd do BRyce again in a heartbeat
maybe one of the top 5 most beautiful places I've been
My sister discovered www.theworldoutdoors.com
think I need to list for my last twenty five
well done, ruru
impressive - I had to list long before that
Go Ruru go!
my wife and i years ago(around our 7th year) were in a rut scrabby, and i had a once in a lifetime opertunity for a afternoon ride and picnic in a hot air balloon.it was expensive 200 for the afternoon,i had never been in one before and the wife was afraid of heights.at that time 200 was all the spare cash we had in our savings.so i packed a nice lunch of salad, french stick, southern style pan fried chicken i had cooked the night before and a good bottle of wine that i also could not afford. but then again i could not afford not to lol. snuck the picnic basket into the trunk of the car, told the wife to grab out coat and that we were going for a dive and had to talk(she had no idea) got 2 min from the launch area and told her to put a bandana over her eyes that i had stuffed in my pocket.we rounded the corner and the owner of the balloon had it already filled and the flame going and it was tethered and ready to go.all this time the wife is saying "whats going on? where are you taking me?" i parked the car, grabbed her still blindfolded and the picnic basket and got her right in the thing before she demanded the blindfold be removed(she was actually getting angry by now) and i nodded my head to the pilot and pulled the blindfold off at the instant he let go the last tether and hit the flames....lol! she could not speak at all for 2 minutes, she was just clutching me and was all eyes and watching the land roll out below her after a while we landed in a nice meadow and the pilot make himself scarce for 45 min while we munched on chicken and french stick and sipped wine in the shade of a nice big tree and talked, really talked to each other again.200 dollar!! lol if i had it,i would of spent 2000 for that day..lol guess the moral of that story is scrabby that life is the journey and the experiences along the way,not who gets to be 80 and still have the most baubles in the bank.we cherish that day and i would not trade it for any money...lol...just go on that trip
Scrabs, I say go for it. Being "frugal" often = "regrets later".
sorry for rambling...need a tea i suppose
crossy - that's a great story...made me cry
Lovely story
Nice story Cross. Glad that worked out for you. I too, am afraid of heights and that story would have had a different ending had I been a part of it.
last sa 6, please?
Ty, Crossy and Molly!
Nan...sa + Scarlett O'Hara's home
ty molly
lol, sorry jafro, did not mean to get you teary:/
what was Scarlet's house?
hello everybody
Does anyone here use Turbo Tax? I have used a CPA for the last 10 yrs or so.
*hands out kleenex for everyone *
Hi Ruby
Pssst, Ruru, the house = Tara.
crossy uses H&R block without fail.cash the same day and they back up their work if the gov makes an error
Scrabs, I have used Tax act for six years, no problem.
Morning, all. Turbo Tax rocks, Scrabbler. We've used it for the past five years. No problems whatsoever.
Crossy - love the hot air balloon story.
Should I use the free version of Turbo Tax or is there a big advantage to upgrading and paying more?
I never get that Gone with the wind clue ever..am I just dumb or forgetful
Depends on how complicated your financial life is. If it's relatively simple, I would stick with the free stuff.
If you only use the short form, the freebie version is fine.
lovely story, crossy. I missed the beginning of this but scrabs, I lived in the US all my life until I came here and now will NEVER get to see Yellowstone, the Grand Canyon, Yosemite! What a mistake
With the Deluxe version, you can file state and Fed online. Easy peezy.
The only thing I don't like about Turbo Tax is you have to buy the full shot every year. They don't just have an upgrade. I suppose the
Federal government is to blame for constantly changing the tax codes.
I see, Judi.
Tax Act gives you Federal for free, Sate you pay $12.95 for. Which is a lot cheaper than the upgrade or paying H&R Block.
ur 5/12, please?
So true, Ruby.
hi gang, logging in to finish up
nm - monkeyed it
hi aloy

Hi everybody!

I have little hair to do anything with.... :( just a little old lady
Hiya, Car!
hi car!
yes, but once they have dreads, they never have to shampoo or do anything again! yuch
I'd start singing Bob Marley right now, but somehow, I don't think people on this board are into his music.
I love Bob Marley
actually, I love his music!
scratching head at the thought
sing, molly!
Who dares not love Bob Marley???!
and anybody can dance to his music!
His greatest hits CD is a MUST HAVE.
His music be spiritual, mon. You don't even need da ganga or da rum drinks to dig it.

Er...ok.

Er...en5/12 I think is for that E. I'll try and come up with a hint...
It's like the word that means when you last through something, but take out the d
en5/12 like in5
eu 4/5
no,the eu's not for that one I don't think
Nope, the eu comes from another e.

Can I have some help with the do5/16?
soft in French
Hi ruby. Back in CT and not loving it
are you having a new storm {{bichon}}
are the new pups there yet?
Ah, got it.
We got 3 more inches, but the wind is fierce. This, after two weeks in mild CA
our false Spring has passed, but there still isn't more snow yet
No. Marco/Polo still in CA. They are trying to set u a fly date. Snow hindering it.
Thanks for the do5/16, Ruby....hello, All..starting late today :-)
{{zzoozz}}
will they be in the same kennel on the plane? we've had lots of different experiences flying our dogs around
I thought the do 5/16 meant sweet in French, like Irma LaDo**
yes, sweet, too, I just thought of the other one first.....
my French has become increasingly vernacular.....I think I hang out in the wrong circles
Okay, gotta gird myself up to deal with the snow in the driveway. Lord, make me strong
wishing you strength and energy!!!
and good night everybody
Night.
Bye, Bichon & Ruby :-)
French is so confusing. I thought doux was soft in French.
Well, it led me in the right direction, so it definitely helped. xD
that's the plural, Molly
There is a plural of soft? Softs???
Can I have some help on the ou6's? :|
ou6 not in + faster than walking.
Thanks, now I just need the other one. :|
And I got it.
:-)
:DD
the ou7 is not in + in a hurry

e dois vous offrir tout le beau jour mes amis de rumeur pendant que le travail appelle. take care everyone and happy babbling...poink!

Thanks Queen!!
You're welcome.
HI everybody. Nice to meet you, Queen & Jazz :-). I don't think I hae met either of you before.
Hi Soodlebum. Nice to meet you too. I haven't been here for quite awhile. Hope to be back more often.
So, you managed to get over the babble addiction for a while, Queen? I reckon I will have to have therapy to get over my addiction!
More like I managed to get over the computer addiction. :) I love anything to do with words. But I was away from a computer for quite awhile.
hi, nice to meet you too - I need to get away from the computer more!!
:-)
So, where in the world are you guys?
hi all

Flu-less, thank goodness! You poor thing... you feeling rotten?

Sorry, Soodlebum, having trouble with the connection. I'm in California - USA
Oooh, I love CA! Carlee, hugs across the atlantic!!

Hey Moll. I LOVED your FB message. Still smirking about it!
hmmm..tumm thanks molls...
molls?... do i have u on fb?...i keep forgetting who is who
Ditto, Carlee. People add me as a friend, and I see we have heaps of mutual Babble friends, but I have no idea who they are. (I know you, Moll, and Carlee..)
oh man..i dont have brain strength to go to ur page soods and find molls...
When your up to it, Carlee, you'll have no problem finding Moll amongst my friends. She is the only Molly there.

okie kokie molls :)
i dont like this grid..just in case anyone is curious to know
haha, carlee
Hi carlee, some grids are like that. What flag are you flying?
tunisian gramma stiddy
Never saw the tunisian flag before. thanks for the info.
given what is going on over there..its my silent means of support
Stid!!! Conas atá tú?
Yes, and have you figured out Haiti yet? All the former dictators are coming back or wanting to go back and it is just weird, by my uninformed notions.
my guess....halliburton is likely gotten its fingers in the rebuilding contracts...and the old dictators are likely scheming to get a pieceof the $ pie....as the back room politics will be a tangled web that the US gov't will need aid in detangling
I am fine. Back from a train trip to Portland, Oregon.
has* even
Oh, rebuilding. Hope they remember to tie the rebar to something sturdy.
knowing halliburton....they wont IF my assumptions are correct
i am going cross eyed...going to lay down
later all
Bye for now carlee.
Gah. Internet connection very dodgy this evening.
hi all
Hey Boo :-)
How are you Soodle
I am good, thank you Boo. All the better for it being Friday! And you?
Hello. Is anyone else finding this grid to be really challenging?
Well, full of words that are obscure even for Babblers.
Its not the easiest, Red!
well, now I am at least 84/75 so over half way...dog is harassing me!
I'm back. :3
Hey cgw :-)
Hi.
Phew. Phireworks. Last word....su5/12. That erstwhile tome the Karma Su***.
Hello. Back from shovelling 8 inches of fluff from the driveway and walks.
Hiya wht. Is it still snowing there?
No, it stopped around 1:00.
But we have two elderly neighbors so we had a lot to shovel.
Hello my Babblish friends! How is everyone today?
Pretty good. How're you? :)
No problems here that a few Motrin won't cure.
I am fine! I am going to my town's televised basketball game tonight!
Sounds like fun!
It will be. I am doing the scorebook for my favorite hometown team! I am the manager;
pretty well, bored at work. How're you, MJ? did you have an icon last time I saw you?
have fun!
I am fine, jes. When did I see you last? I got the icon about 5 weeks ago.
probably about that time... i've not been on a lot. someone was accusing you of trolling...
Trolling? Who?
or maybe it was someone else and i'm just confused.
anyway... i was more aiming for grats on the icon than anything else :)
i have never said a word in the chog before. Thanks!
must have been someone else then
I'm sure it was someone else. mark is an excellent Babbler. No cursing or trolling.
My record is un****ished!
I'm not su** mine is...
Thanks, red. You are too!
yeah; whoever it was was being, as far as i could tell, perfectly civil. it was very odd that someone else kept making troll comments.
anyway, now that i've embarrassed myself with my total confusion of others, i'll off to an appointment...back in a bit
See ya Jes. I do know who you are talking about. A babbler named Johannah. They are one of my illicit friends.
They live near me;
you have illicit friends? I need some of those...
Can I have a clue fore the ae6 please.
ae + I read the paper for the *ws + you + me =
Thanks bichon! I got that one too.

See everyone later. Violin lesson! Bye!

Oh, and tylenol and a hot shower for you young man. Mayhap the heating pad as well.
I heard the Boston has already had as much snow as it does in an average winter. And that was before today's 8 inches.
Molly, already had the hot shower and some Motrin. And it really isn't a st6. It is just a little stiff.
It seems to be a ton of snow for you alll....

Good evening Gran Mere. What good things are cooking in your kitchen tonight?
We had a roast chicken with broccoli, salad, and French bread. Now my husband is cleaning up. I baked Spritz cookies this afternoon for the grandboys.
Have you had your dinner? We are thinking of chicken soup for tomorrow.
mmmmm spritz cookies... i remember them fondly
I like the almond flavour and the crispiness.
i liked the crispiness, but most of all the buttery flavor
We had macaroni and cheese with ham and broccoli in it. *Holds out plate for spritz cookies*
we went to a ramen noodle place cause that's what the grandkids like the most. it was ok, but not my idea of a real dinner... you folks have what i want!

Good evening to my fellow babblers! How is everyone?
By the way, congratulations to all the finishers! YAY!
hi Minver :-))
ello Min
Oh bummer! No icon clues in the chat log at this time!
di, seems to be an unword
diane - 2nnd sa6 = sa + actress **** Reid from Scrubs.
sa6/18 (cryptic): Indian town as reversed around endless videogame publisher
Or UK 'celebrity''s name - *** Palmer-Thompkinson.
clues for ANY of the /1 and /2 tiles?
It (the whole word) is also a place in S. Africa as well as in India.
found an e5, rest are all 4s now
dfm - I don't quite get your question.
I'm missing for nbt and fw J@(1,2) (0/2), E@(4,1) (0/1), U@(4,2) (0/1), E@(5,5) (0/1)
Whoa! What was that post with all the circled a's in it, dfm?
thanks jacula.... and dfm.... :-))) I got the word from jacula's clue and then figured out how dfm's worked.... clever !! good old game before intellevision and nintendo !!!
I'll try giving you e words - ea4.4 - you do this when you work; they give you money.
ea4/4 - opposite of West.
game system... we had one
ea4/4 - if someone gives her food, she ea4/4 it.
ec4/6 - Euopean money.
er4/4 - historical pasages of time.
Lot of NON-words in the puzzle today. It's kinda hard
eu4/5 - European money unit.
D's Demolished! 5 left
G's Gone! 4 left
The grid's big word, tr8/40, is easy to find.
Sorry for any typing errors, it's very late/early here. Can't sleep, am keeping an eye on the cat, who seems to be ill.
thanks jac :o)
O's Obliterated! 2 left
y/w dfm.
Keep going, Min!
C's Completed! 1 left
missing j4 and u4 now, last two
All the ao words are heart vein words.
ji4 is Chinese money, as I recall and u4 is wee-related or (2nd one) sounds like the Mormon state plural.
Mormon state?
Salt Lake City, dfm.
ooh, guessed it :o) yay nbt+fireworks! :oD
<-- doesn't know his U.S. geography...
Well done, dfm.
Good job this Brit does then, eh? LOL dfm.
in fact he knows his Canadian, Chinese, French, and English geographies better :o\
Congratulations dfmchfhf on fireworks! Good for you!
(operative word being "better", not that he claims to know French and/or English geography well at all!)
LOL
I don't know! There I am, trying to give clues that friends on the other side of The Pond will get quickly, and I find a fail.
it's just me I guess ;o)
*Drums fingers on chog in a ladylike but slightly impatient Lady of the Manor type way.*
dfm - it's okay.
I am done! I have fireworks! au5/12 was my last word
I'll quit with the irony now! LOL
Well done, Min.*~*~*~*~*~*~*
congrats minv! :o)
I will be here off and on to help give if anybody needs.
Thanks guys!
Min - normal plural or Latin plural?
Or was it the Roman money?
What do you mean Jacula? Which ending do I prefer?
Min - I meant was it au1,2 or 3 you ended with.
My last word was au 5/12 with the latin plural Jacula.
Oh no, not the latin plural one, it was the last au5/12
I'm always interested to know which word someone ends on. Often, for me, it's a silly plural like 'wantS' or something.
Thanks Min. My last word was a description of stockings or a rock face - sh5/12 (2nd).
sometimes that happens to me too, Jacula.... then one feels sooooooo stoooooooooopid !!
Congratulations Jacula on finishing early! Good for U!
diane - sometimes, I'm sure I've already typed the word in, so not looking for it again.
my last word was the sa word you helped me with, Jacula
Sausage fingers syndrome affects many of us in haste.
Congratulations dianedecoder on finishing early!YAY!
and sometimes I'll type in a word, not thinking it IS one, and lo and behold....it is accepted and I don't realize it.... and keep looking !
diane - that's a word you can be proud to finish on, since it is not a silly normal word.
diane - I do that, too. Not so much on here but often on Scrabble on Facebook.
thanks Minver... we are sort of on vacation in Arizona, so not spending much time on Babble. We'll be here for another 2 1/2 months and I'll soon settle into a routine
I haven't played Scrabble on Facebook.... I did play with my girls a bit, but I hate keeping people waiting and I often get long interruptions !!
We are golfing tomorrow and then out for dinner with son and wife, so probably won't start the grid.... we'll see ;-))
I need to spend much less time on Babble and on the computer in general, if I am to get this house sorted out. However, my daughter's travelling, doing a gap year between degree and Masters degree, and I need the PC to keep in touch with her.
of course you do :-))
She needs Mummy hugs and I need Daughter hugs on a weekly, if not daily basis.
our son and wife are down here visiting US in THEIR home... ( They live in Canada too, but built this lovely home about 5 years ago.
I've got to get my Skype sorted out before she goes to Australia, Tasmania and Canada in March for 3 months or more. She's just back from Slovenia and is off to neighbouring Hungary on Monday.
I love Facebook for that reason.... I've been in touch with all my daughters and many of the grandkids since we left home.
Wow.... what a trip !
I need a new web cam.... then I would love to Skype....would be such fun to see online friends as we chat!
I used to chat in windows live messenger, but old webcam was not compatable with my new computers.
We've been keeping in touch re Facebook and 'phone and texts up to now, as she's travelled the world, but this trip needs more. When she gets to Canada, she will be staying with my bro and sis in law first in Calgary, then she will be off the Ontario to stay with my aunt and uncle, and then on the the conservation island my cousin lives on. She may also be visiting friends she's met on her world trip.
I used to do Messenger, too. Haven't been there for years and have no idea id my new webcam is up to the job.
evening all
Hi Pini.
hi jac, di, et al ;)
Hello Pinikula! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid
hi min ;)
hiya Pini :-) I'm a temporary Arizonan ( Arizonian?? )
doing well...glad the week is over and I told the bosses I was NOT going to work this weekend...so, I'm here to 'relax' :)
Arizonian! Nice...how's the weather?
how's it going, jac?
It's lovely... was 72 yesterday :-) We left temperatures of -27 C ( 17 below in F ) It's such a nice change, because we've been having a bad winter
Read back, Pini. My daughter's travelling the world and my cat is not well. That's about it really. How are you?
hi pini! :o)
Congrats for your dau, jac...I'm sure she's have a grand time; sorry to hear about your cat...hope s/he recovers quickly!
hi dfm ;)
I can only imagine, di!!!!
:o( about your cat, jac... any idea what's wrong?
Speaking of my daughter and my cat, I need to try to get some sleep. Daughter might visit me later, but not just to use my hair straighteners, and the cat might need to visit the vet.
take care, jac!!! sleep well!
dfm - re the cat, not sure if it's his age, or if he's depressed from the death of our old cat and the long winter. I fear he's starting with kidney failure like she (our old cat) did.
I heard that a lot of cats go through kidney failure :o(
and I'm going to call it a day too... we are golfing early tomorrow morning, and 11:00 - midnight bedtime just won't cut it LOL.... Night night everyone... see you all tomorrow sometime !! z z z z z z
I'm off now. Will let you know how things go. Happy babbling!
enjoy the sun, di!!!
night di, jac!
night, friends.... dfm, pini, jacula, minver.... and gone !!!
Adios dianedecoder! Just about to enter a clue story.
down to 15...should make if I stay awake...
Took me ae4/4s to finish grid, but I finally did so here is a story of clues. My au4/5mobile broke down in the ra4/4 while I was on my way to the ci4/5ma.Tried to restart it,but it just sat on the road in 5/10. My car didn't care one io4/4 that I was going to miss a film I really wanted to see. I flipped a co 4/5 to decide if I wanted get it towed or not. The flip told me to get it towed. So I walked to a ne 4/4by di 5/12 to call a tow company. Then I had to stand outside in my co4/5 to wait for a tow. The tow cost me mucho di 5/12. Now my wallet is even dr 5/12 than it was before.Money I ea4/4 in my last paycheck went toward fixing car. It Seems like my car ea 4/4 up my paycheck every time I have a problem. Car has hu 4/6 my savings account many times.Think car has ou6/24 it's life expectancy I am su4/5 not in a ru4/6 to get another car though. That would really put a st6/18 on my bank account. I will take a tr 5/10 to work if I have to. Ra4/4! Hubby is not being so ni 4/5 right now. In fact,he's being an an4/5 and wants to take over my office ar4/4.If I do not give him computer,he'll cause a ri 4/4. He causes ri 5/10 everytime he doesn't get his way. I hope you have se 4/4 some more words with this story. By the way, this story is not tr4/5.I'm going to go ne 4/4en the kitchen and goto bed. Ci4/5! See you tomorrow.
nice, min!...going to look thru to see what I can get!!!

LOL Pinikula!

st5 was the 2nd (get the water off the noodles)

ar 5/12 is a plus anagram of actor **** Bana or Stoltz.
got it! :)
thx min ;)
ou6/24?
(compound?)
Tx Min.. got 12 words from your story..
hi cosmo
yw
yw cosmo
min's stories are great ;)
ou6/24 - compound.. not IN + faster than walk
hi Pini, Min
have that one...need the next one ;)
An ou 6/24 is not in + sprint at a rapid speed Pinikula.
ooooooh, I get it now!! very similar to the other ou6
Hello Cosmo Kramer! How are you?Welcome to the grid
thx cosmo and min ;)
yw
i have only one Ou6/24.. i have a 7/40 though... not IN + Min is not ru***ing to get a new car..
thx cosmo!

Go Pinikula go!
*sits back in chair to wait for Pini's FWs before going to bed*
ru5/14?
Hi All...
hi gingentle
Min...I am speechless at that cluestory! Thx.
ru 5/14 rhymes w/coat worn as part of a military or other uniform Pinikula.
Hi gingentle! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid
ru5/14 -- speed walk + David copperfield is a mag**ian
* thinking * (should probably know this being a military brat and everything)
got it!! :)
Thanks gingentle. I do them pretty often. Is that the first story of clues of mine that you have read so far?
that ru5 also rhymes with "long shirt" ;)
I was going to say a kind of shirt but I thought other definition would be bit more challenging to figure out.
oh, it was, min! thx!!! * grin *
This grid has a challenging wealth of vowels!
ge5/16?
nm, monkeyed it ;)
That ge 5/16 word is ge plus the od 4/6 word Pinikula
1 to go!!!
thx min ;)
go go pini!
clue for ou 7 please. it is two words?
without giving it away...is the last sa6 common?
no pini
ou7 = not in + not slow
no Pinikula
ok, dfm...that narrows it down! giving extra bananas to the monkeys
sa6/18 (cryptic) Indian town as reversed around videogame publisher
An ou7/40 word is opposite of in plus ru4/6 word mkg
yep, that's pretty cryptic, dfm!! * thinking extra hard! *
ty got it.
(loving the challenge)
Just let me know if U need for a dummy clue Pinikula.
yw mkg
will do :)
Wish I could give cryptic clues as well as I tell stories.
if I tell you what I think the game is, will it hurt my chances?
I love how cryptics when done well are so obvious only after you get the word :o)
oh, think I missed a word...
gee thx, dfm!! LOL
sa6/18 (cryptic) Indian town as reversed around endless videogame publisher
OMG. I still have 77 more to go. I doubt i will finish before flip!
GOT IT!!!! * sparklers *
there we go sorry :o(
you can do it, gingentle...we're here!!
The sa6/18 word is sa Scarlett O'Hara's home Pinikula
yay pini! go gin!
* patting self on back for getting the game publisher and figuring out the cryptic! *
Oops!I'm so sorry Pinikula! I entered that by mistake!
Yeah, I appreciate that, but i think i need toothpicks for the eyelids!
it's OK, min!! You're forgiven!! * giggle *
Congratulations Pinikula on fireworks!Hooray for you
whereabouts in the world are you, gingentle?
thx min and dfm for the clues
Goodnight to my fellow babblers! I'll see you tomorrow
yay pini! :o)
Kansas City
MO or KS? (not that they're that far apart!)
I leave you with a story of clues in my profile. *POOF*
thx again, min!
They border each other. I am in the metro, in a suburb on the Kansas side
gotcha...I used to live in Leavenworth...
Ooooh. The prison-town!
Several years ago, I saw Phantom of the Opera in the, what I think was called, Royal Theatre?
yeah, that one, gingentle :)
"Gin" is fin, Pin. Was this theatre downtown?
Trivia: Prisoners used to bag our groceries at the commissary
I think so, gin...
(ps, nice to meet cha)
I don't think i amfamiliar w/ the Royal
I'm probably wrong on the name...may have to look it up...
...it was a gorgeous theatre tho!
I was in Leavenworth a month ago, antique shopping
I haven't been there in, well let's just say, a "few years"....LOL
(well, lived there in that long, that is)
I am originally from Illinois
Been here for 8 years
<-- military brat (former)
Lotsa military in and around the metro!
hi all. clue for sa 6 the second one please?
sa + Gone with the Wind plantation
that's for sure, gin
Where are you now, Pin?
got it. ty pini. not in more words.
West Coast (OR)
Lovely. I lived in SF for a time. Love the coast!
I love the PNW...out of all the places I've lived in the US...it's my favorite...
...here's a pic of the interior of the theatre I saw POTO in: http://tinyurl.com/4zw4np6
Lovely theatre. Is it on the Plaza??
I know I have been in it at some point
well, not exactly sure yet...I googled KC theatres...saw the interior...now just have to find the name of it
Is it the Lyric?
still looking...
<-- is lost with all these abbreviations @.@
POTO = phantom of the opera :)
ah... :o)
Pin...I think the royal is at UMKC on their campus.
Well, I give up looking...it was a beautiful theatre with an incredible performance...
...we didn't go to a campus, gin, so that's probably not it...
oh well...
I can't find any history on when POTO played in KC...perhaps I'll try again another time...
KC is lucky to still have several fabulous old theatre spaces. So many have been razed over the last few decades all over the country.
...we should be concentrating on your 'words'! :)
(We don't have any that old here in town...not sure if there are any left in Portland)
Oh well, I rarely finish a grid these days. Get to about 100 words and get distracted or involved in convos. i must say, that is as much fun as working the grid!
but now we'll feel guilty for preventing you from finishing! Do:
maybe The Majestic Theatre???
I absolve thee!
(I'm the one who should feel guilty, dfm...I've hogged the chog!)
OOOH! YES. The Magestic!!! Lovely place!
That's the one!!! (Finding more and more pictures now) :)
"Hogging the chog" sounds almost obscene!
...and it "fit" the POTO soooo well!
* giggle *
I can hear my pillow whispering in a susserant manner. Must go to dreamland! Catch ya later in the grids! *Poof!*
no wait....it's called The Midland Theatre...
take care, gin...thx for the chat :)
(it "looks" Royal and/or Majestic)
The MIDLAND!!! Of Course. It, too is another lovely theatre. See...we have many here. Which is unusual for this area...they usually love to tear down old buildings rather than rehab them. But don't get me started. Must go. *Poof*
ok, dfm...we've pinpointed it so you don't have to worry about us talking about it anymore!! LOL
