morning all, and welcome to the tropical party in the penalty box. For all those who have cold weather atm.
if psst and tsks are words, why not grrr?
Hello, All :-)
hi zooz :)
How are you, Spritey?
down with the flu again, but otherwise not bad. And how are you doing these days?
I am ok, sorry to hear you have the flu, a lot of it going around at the moment..i know lots of people round here with the flu..not nice.
no it is not nice, but at least it is finite :) Will soon be better. Just hate missing my friend's 50st b/day because of it. Glad to hear you are ok. Just hanging in there or really ok?
Hanging in to be honest..but hey ho...there are people who are much worse off than me :-)
there will always be, zooz. No reason not to take your own things seriously enough :) Here, a big *hug* for you, a couple of cans full of sunlight and a package of peace of mind.
Aww, thanks, (((Spritey))), back at you :-)
also, if you ever feel you'd like to vent or chat to somebody not too close to you, please always feel free to use my email. Ok?
thanks :)
Many thanks, Sprite :-)
:) First part of this grid went so fast! And now I am pretty stuck.
Yes it is slow going here too..still need 12 more.
ouch... I am already stuck at 32 left
Well, i am always willing to try and clue for you if needed :-)
thanks =) Will make use of that as soon as I can oversee the words I am missing, grin.
lol
how many words today?

thanks
Oh, and good morning everyone!
hi Brookie
Hello, Brookie :-)
hi sprite
Hi zooz, sprite!
Hi Sprite, Ouwa, zooz, Brookie et al
please all enter the PB and join our tropical party. It will go on all day. Warm swimming water, jacuzzis, hot and cold drinks, lovely food... and great company, of course.
hi Aloy :D Terra is 2 years old now!
Hello, Aloy :-)
I'm there, sprite!
Ohh let me find my speedos..lol
hope you had a B-day celebration for him.. a yummy bone, maybe?
I saw you sipping something with an umbrella :D
hi zooz z9-z;
yes, yummy bone, extra walks, and a new toy. A woven cord with a kind of tennis ball at either end. Also with the strings of the cord at the ends, which he likes best. He loves nibbling them.
well, that was supposed to be a smile behind zooz.. like this: (-:
aww, you treat him well, sprite.. lucky Terra
hehehe it was a special sign, though
he is so worth it, Aloy. He is a ray of sunlight on every day. Such a happy, playful, cuddly dog. After 2 years, we still go oooooo and aaaahh and awwww to eachother about him... aren't we awful!
Back soon..just want to check last nights chog to see if, Lynxxx, is ok..she said she was checking to see what the watery sound was outside her door..and she never came back whilst i was there..just want to see if she was ok or flooded..as the water was rising quickly around her..there was even a youtube video..back soon.
Thanks, Aloy :-)
sus zooz. Yes, am thinking of lyn too.
will wait for your report, zooz
phew, 13 co's done
wtg Aloy
(-: one more c to find
I still need 5, and no idea yet if they are cr or co or ce or whatever. I just hope there are no ct words, lol.
no ct words
praise the Lord.
and pass the ammunition
Nope she did come back on :-(
:D Aloy
not, zooz?
oh, now I'm concerned..
heres the video that was taken close to where she lives
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iOH_sNm cHmE
yes so am I. I know they were on water watch all the time, relieving eachother.
I have all the `c` words and there are no `ct` words :-)
that is so good to know. Doesn't look nice, zooz, the flood there, but also not too alarming, if the houses along the stream are anything to go by.
I think it went over the bridge in the end though.
ah ok, didn't see the end yet. I so hope they are ok. And their home is safe.
there are three cr words.
and three ce words :-)
hm those crs I have. thanks zooz.
just back from watching that video.. ty for posting the link, zooz.. the Elwood Canal Bridge.. yes, water was coming over at the end but the bridge was still intact. The reporter pointed at houses on the other side that were "completely flooded"
Lets hope all is ok.
just seen the end too, yes, all flooded. Sending prayers to lyn and hers.
me too .. found the last cr, cr5 refers to one who has tears on his/her face
brb.. coffee refill time
I need one more ce and 4 of the cos. Will find them now that I know the 1st 2 letters though.
Ohh yes please, Aloy :-)
for me too! Please!
i would like a cookie with mine if you have any!
I sooo don't want to eat. But yesterday my son said very firmly I had to eat if I wanted to get better. Don't you hate it when your kids give you back the things you said to them all those years?
Zoom, you are very dear to go check on Lynxx. I will keep her in my prayers. And thank you for reminding me about how special this community is. I almost lost sight of that last night, after being taken to task about how I clue.
lol..then you taught them correct, sprite, you really must eat something. even if it is just a soup.
hi Molly, who did? Sometimes people can be unkind but often they are just very clumsy in how they formulate things... Anyway, I enjoy your presence in our babble chog. Always. *hugs*
Hey ((Molly)), i too have been questioned on how i clue..but i just give a clue how i can , if people don`t like it..oh well.. then sorry..but i still clue.
Molly - you can clue me any time you want to!
any clue is good, as long as it does not give away too much of the word. Different people need different clues.
Hello, Mrswhiski :-)
hi mrswhiski
"Who" isn't important Sprite. I let it hurt my feelings for a while, but I'm over it. And while my clues may not always be "imaginative" as this person implied, I like to think they are helpful. And hey, how do you give an "imaginative" clue for abohms?
Hi zooz & sprite.
lol. ab + plural electrical measure, I'd say.
back with freshly brewed tea and coffee.. who has the bagel and schmears (yesterday word, lol)
YaY..thanks, Aloy :-)
oh I had a helluva time finding that one yesterday. I bring apple pies, that good too, Aloy?
even with a clue you'd need to define "abohms" and them spell it before I'd get that one LOL
wonderful, sprite
some people are really brilliant cluers, like BabbleRabble and Haz. But not everybody gets a brilliant clue. So cluers like you and me are needed too.
if i find it too hard to clue but people still need a clue i would clue like ap5/14 + te4/5 take away last letter
I agree Sprite. Not everyone who plays this game have the vast knowledge base that others do. So there would be people who don't know what that electrical measure is.
the only 2 kind of clues I do not like are the spelling clues (like dotted letter, snake for is) and clues that give too many letters.
BR & Haz are masters at clueing..i am crap..but i still try.
Well, my clue probably gave too many letters, but it was a form of cluing I see here all the time. ab + oh 4/6. For a difficult word, I didn't think that was worth being taken to task for.
yep, so maybe I would then clue like ab + expression of surprise (2 letters), + first letter of your female parent.
Abohm was dropped on Hiroshima? I think last night waas much ado about nothing. It was a hard word. We
so how about clueing the ce's.....just for practice of course
well for me personally, that would give away too many letters, yes. But I am pretty sure for some people it was just what they needed. Some words are very hard to picture. What I do encourage though, is people using google a bit more. Like googling for electrical measures would help.
ce 6/24 like concrete but without the `N`
my last ce was 6 letters, sue, and hi. sounds a bit like the frog of the Muppet Show.
lol
hi all
ce 6.24: beginning of what Rice Krispies is + Harry *** Sally
Hello, Kap & Sue :-)
homework since 4am
taking a breather
hi Kaplan
That coffee was wonderful, Thanks, aloy :-)
I agree about Google search Sprite. I think the thing that bothered me the most was "you're not supposed to clue like that Molly". Like I'm five years old or something and need to be set straight. As far as I am aware, there are no "cluing rules" here.
ty all
argghh sue, that is very early. We here would call that night.
ah, yvw zooz.. (-:
lol, molly we love you
and I enjoy your clues very much
Wow, 4:00am your eyes must feel like grit, sue.
Thanks Sue. Like I said earlier, Zoom and his concern for Lynxx reminded me of the general good hearts and souls in this community. That's what it's all about.
COFFEEEEEEEE
amen sista
sounds very pedantic, Molly, indeed. Though it is hard to read 'tone' in written chat. Anyway, a clue like yours often comes after a couple of other clues that just didn't click, so I don't think it is much of a problem. And even if it is, it is still great you try to help people out. That is more important than what we are 'supposed' to do.
Aloy has the coffee pot :-)
brb
oh noooooo Molly! Now you got me singing the Hoky Poky with that last line of yours :D
LOl, spitey..very good.
Aloy makes lovely coffee
Spritey* even..oops.
compliments will get you some more, too!
*grin* it is a common typo, zooz, I don't mind! I am not a spiteful person ;)
molly, sprite and to who ever(or is it whom) give clues, thank you. i often dont understand some of the clues, but yours always help me find the words ty!
*gratefully holds cup up for a refill*
well, if any of you are coming to Concord NC, you always have a place to stay with me
hi ivesy, it is a great community. Something for everyone, even with clues ;)
sue, that is just great.
This jacuzzi is wonderful in the PB room, but i need to goto the bathroom in fear of turning the water yellow..LOL..brb
Hello, Ivesy :-)
lol zooz, sooo good you are housetrained!
and good morning to all, just getting in my babble fix before i have to get ready for work lol
hehehe a good way to start your day
love the icon ivey
hi ivesy, good way to wake up the gray matter
true, esp becuz i work at a library!
Good morning Ives. And hey Kap, I almost missed you back there.
ty sue, gets alot of laughs
I would like to work at a library. I love books. And readers.
isnt petri a word?
a petri dish, right?
its great. work mostly in childrens room and those kids are so computer literate even at young ages.
yes yes yes yesssss! Glad I am not the only one, sue.
I would like to work at a library too. Just the smell of a library makes me feel at home.
children are amazing with computers. But I always glad to find they are reading books as well.
Yes that is a word, Sue..for sure..yet not in babbleland :-(
oh my
hi MollyL.. sorry you had some flack from someone; the subject of clueing has come up so many times in the past.. there are really NO rules that I know of, and since clues are given with the intention of helping someone out.. phoeey on the criticisms.. just block chat if you don't want to see
and I thought homework was confusing
well, have a good day all.. off to see the wizard lol
Take care, Ivesy :-)
hagd, ivesy
Here is the scoop on petri. The dish was named after someone named Petri, so Enable probably considers it a proper noun. HOWEVER, Jean is a proper noun too, when in the context of a name, and it also has other meanings. So I would consider petri a word.
actually, the enable dictionary that is used for Babble isn't at all confusing. Just imprint on yourself that it is totally random and there will be no more confusion.
bye ivesy, have a grand day
peter also.
Totally random...like chaos...okay, no confusion. : P
lol
good morning babblers :)
hi Nono!
Hello, Nono :-)
*grin* You got it, Molly
hi Nanette!
was reading back thru the chog, and saw mention of lynxx. What is the news on that front is all ok with her?
how many wds today?
112
we don't know yet, Nanette. Seems she left the chog saying she'd check out a watery sound, then did not come back.
thanks
Hello, Grant :-)
hello grant
oph dear, I do hope she is ok
hello everyone
hello zooz and sprite
Hello, Annie :-)
hiya Annie :)
hi Annie

i know two very nice young men named Max. it wouldn't be such a bad thing if you were.
Nice one, Hurshy.
the plumbing is all well, alo, yes. the leaking is coming from melting snow and ice.
toooo many things going wrong at once around here.
I am so sick of this winter I can hardly stand it.
phew, that is not good, but a relief too
At the beginning of the winter, I really felt like I wanted to opt out. I just didn't feel like having it.
yes, leaking from outside, the condo association will have to pay to fix.
very lucky indeed that its still under warranty. I t would be my luck that the warranty expired the day before!
join us in the PB, hurshy and Kaplan, for a tropical party. Just what we need in times like these.
.. putting some reggae music on
followed by a steel drum band
Did I say anything penaltyish?
limbo dancing!
did i, too, or either?
fans will make the palm fronds sway
lower, lower!
no need for that today, Kaplan and hursh, just hop in for free and join the party!
lol, no Kap we are just having a party today is all
I'm coming in.
found nine words with the double `P`
sprite had this great idea! perfect timing
can't we bring the party OUT of the penalty box and into the chog?
wellllll we would miss out on the jacuzzi and the cabana boys, hursh...
either I can't count or I am missing one of those double P words, zoozoo
dunno, hurshy.. pretty noisy
and distracting with those cabana boys
I think I have 8 of them also.
there are ten jacuzzis and a thousand cabana boys out here, you don't know what you're missing in there
I just got the red message of doom
I just got the red message of doom
I just got the red message of doom
oh no, Annie
heard you the first time, Annie
awww poor Annie
What does that mean (x3)?
Annie, I'm not getting that but am experiencing a lot of lag time when entering any words
Oh, that.
you know, when there is a red entry in the chog that says "Word could not be added. Try again in a minute." or something like that.
lag time here too
nope i now have ten with the double `P`.
10????
dammit! I need more double Ps!
i have 8
I only have 8 so far, if I counted correctly.
i have 8 now
sprite's pooch is in the grid!

hi Pe4
and I knew **** was in the grid too, sorry
ah peri, I hope that is a good thing, lol. It is a fun game, isn't it :)
just started and did not realize I was in the grid. has been a while :)
it is a god thing and yes it is a fun game
peri, sprite, what game is that?
Eight1
good even
http://www.eastoftheweb.com/games/Eigh t1.html A word game, very much fun to play.
eight letters in search of a word, it is.
my last word was the to**c of conversation..
wtg Aloy
thanks pe4
wtg Aloy! ~*~*~*~FIREWORKS*~*~*~*~ for you too!

WTG, Aloy!
Oh great now i am playing Eight1..i failed on the first level..geez
there are 10 words with double p? I have 7
aw zooz, give yourself some time to get used to the game!
there's also text twist which is the same idea i believe but with only 6 letters, if you find 8 overwhelming
Will have another go in a min.
yes I like that game too hurrsh
*googling for text twist*
yeah i gave text twist ago..i like that game too.
and I think you cn scramble the letters in that one, cannot in eight1
tee
I think srambling the words is a great idea.
hello everybody
I like both.
Ok will go now, thanks for the jacuzzi party, Spritey..enjoy your chicken soup. Will pop in from time to time, Take care, All :-)
hi ruby

bye zooz
and so is my dog, rubyfoo :)
{{sprite}} are you feeling any better?
not much yet, rubyfoo, thanks for asking. But at least now I know I made the right decision by not going.
sprite, may I ask,not going where?
hmm, well i have 9 double p's
sorry you are not feeling well, not sure what is going on but hopeyou feel better son
I only have 7 hursh, think there are 10
hi Ruby, sorry i have been on phone and now they have put me on hold
of course you may, pe4. A friend of mine celebrates her 50st b'day today. I cancelled yesterday because I was ill, relapse of the flu I think. Am even sicker today, so was the right decision. Even though I hate disappointing her.
yes i heard there were 10
but i feel like i've tried everything - i only have 13 left overall so there aren't that many options left.
yes you did make the right decision, your health is most important. surely your friend will understand
no no! no no
well I have 71 left
I hope she will. She took it very badly, it really hurt her.
I hate being on hold, usually with horrible repetitious music
you can celebrate when you feel better
i don't see how you can take it badly if someone has the flu and doesn't come to infect you with it.
being on hold isn't fun. I always long for an option to stop the canned muzac.
there is that, hursh :)
pe4, true, and we will :D
You were correct in your decision, sprite, she'll get over it!
oh and for people who weren't here when i mentioned it before, lumosity.com is a site with a bunch of games including word bubbles, which is great.
yes sprite the music was horrid and very loud for some reason
have not checked that one out as yet hursh
guess they didnt want me to fall asleep LOL
it is a great site, hursh, but doesn't it require payment?
lol Nanette
help with lower O pls
you get a free trial for a couple of weeks and then they cut you down to 5 games you can access, but word bubbles is one of them.
when I am on hold like that, I put it on speaker and do chores
oh cool! Guess I will try that than, I really liked the site.
*then

bye pe4
that was just a guess, as I was too lazy to check! Are you in the Bahamas on holiday, P***?
we used to sail in the Bahamas when we lived in Miami
fireworks at last. It was fun :) Thanks for the company, all, and the help. Am leaving babble chog but will stay in the PB for the whole tropical party, so see you there :)
See you there sprite!

Hello, TO - happy belated birthday. You can still eat cake two days late, can't you?
Hi Mom...
ad5/14 - to bring a child into your family
dreich?
Is that Gaelic? Sounds that way.
Dreich is a very descriptive Scots word for a damp, drizzly dull day.
i can generally eat cake. do you have may fav? I said this year I ould bake it for myself
Hi TO, happy belated birthday
thanks Haz
ty haz and ty nono
{{{mom}}}
Pronounced dreeeeech with the same ch as loch.

Often wondered how it was spelt Haz .. it is a lovely word and so descriptive
Yes, Flask, I'll do that for you, just give me five minutes.
I love it...would put that word into my vocabulary. says it all very clearly. is it a guttural ch?
*will, not would
Ok thanks!!

Yes, guttural ch and a good roll of the r at the start.

Great, Flask. Isn't technology amazing?
em 5/14---the guy who runs the show
Hi Haz -- where is it you are located? --- We are planning on spending time around Salisbury and Eastbourne this summer -- are you anywhere near enough that we could get together for a cuppa?
I'm across the Irish sea, cybernan! I'm in Northern Ireland, right at the top of the island. I'd be needing either a flight or a ferry for that cup of tea!
lol -- too bad!
i am eating dark choco flavored oatmeal.
how is that, TO?
I know. The actual distance as the crow flies might not be much by North American standards but it's a bit of a hop for us.
Or very long straws!!!!...lol
anyone have a clue for the o in the top row please?
You've been to Europe several times before, haven't you, cybernan?
different.
hi cwestexan
can I get a clue for the first me6/24 ?
like a thought cwest but starts with o
hi mom
would you buy it again?
od4/5
smells nice while cooking. called "oat revolution". has flax seed too.
Hi
od 4: turn on the lightbulb and change the first vowel
thanks ya'll!
thanks NOno and Gramma
hi gramma
When you describe something as 'different' it's usually the same as when people say that 'it was an experience' - usually meaning you're not going to repeat it in a hurry.
EC 7? please
Hello, gramma.
sorry annie, i dont have any me6's
and "smells nice while cooking" means it taste awful
ec7 - ec plus the ending of a marvellous place U*****.
that's about right. the maple bron sugar is ok.
me either, Annie but will help look
ty
not, it does not taste awful, i did eat it.
nono, the second me6 is me and iso**** , chemistry word
me6 - me plus an anagram of one who writes verse.
nice clue haz -- didn't have that one
You're welcome, cybernan.
Haz, I have that one...I need the first me6
still pondering ec 7
Ec7: out of place bodily organ.
Hi Judi
ec plus three for the opposite of bottom, two vowels finish up the word.
'lo, all.
thanks Haz for the ec word
Annie, I haven't got that first me6 yet, I'll sing out when I do. (earplugs at the ready)
hello Judi
You're welcome, Mom.
Hello, Judi.
thanks Annie for the me word
Haz, I hope Vicuna is not in the vicinity ( Hi Vic)
youre welcome, Mom
I hope she is, but not wishing to favour us with a solo.
Thanks Nan now I have all the 7's
hi judi
wtg Marc
I know how Vicuna loves to sing
me6 - a dealer in goods, a merchant (often a surname in Britain)
finally. ty. :/
I know, she loves it but dogs have been known to howl piteously when she starts up.
Could someone give me the value and first two letters of the 'o' in the top row, please?
Oh, what a good clue...thanks Haz

You're welcome, Annie and TO.

She's very well, TO. She seems to have taken on a new lease of life now that we've changed her diet.
add another vowel before the last one in the second me6
seems it has been ages since we've caught up/
I know, I've not been around in chat so much. How are you doing?
thanks nono
i am ok, rhis as a tough eek but it is over.
Some weeks are like that. You get through them the best way you can.
thanx Nono...got it finally!
and i may be changing jobs again, they are forming a tiger team. except i may have ruined my chances.
halfway and NBT, time for me to get a start on my day. So good to see all of you. ((Hugs)) to all of you. TO, be safe going out.
What's a tiger team? It sounds streamlined and fierce.
i gave a maybe instead of a yes to my boss' query and then heard later my name came up for a ne organization they may staff.
Bye, Mom.
hey mom, come back later
bye bye Haz, enjoy your day
I will be back at lunch time, TO
Can you go back to your boss and register more interest?
tebye Momm
bye bye Nono, hope your weather doesn't get bad
a tiger team is formed to tackles a specific issue in this case, heat tickets - which are requests to correct systemn glitches
thanks mom, i hope so too
does anyone have the clues for today?
bye ((Mom)) have a great day
shorty, Nono has a list in her profile.
thank you Haz
but he spoke ith a colleague about our brainstorming an organizatio that solves those probles for his users so they can be resolved before they go into the black hole at HQ
I take it a tiger team would be for a short-term project - would you like that or do you want something more settled?
at least for a couple of years. and good if i ant to retire and come back as a contractor
Is there really two me6's?
yes marc and they were just clued in last 10 min or less
I hope it works out for you, TO.
aongriter bobby and the one just clued
Yes, Marc, me6/24 - a merchant and me6/24 - me plus an anagram of one who writes verse.
he asked my colleague to brainstorm if the organization will need ne roles and if they should have ne criteria for hiring, among other things
7's: ad x2, ec, er, me, pr x2, trx2 -- missing, please?
Well I got one but not the other. I am not sure what the one I got means?

Ah, not false hair. Tropical headgear!
I would agree, TO. Not so much the 10 years older but the weather isn't great. Has he his own teeth and hair?
but i will go eventually
well i saw hair in the picture, about the teeth, must see to tell
missing two Ps second row
Owl, Why not go? You might have a good time and, if not, make it an early evening. Ten years is not that much older.\
hydra - what is the last letter of the hairy please?
however there are a few flags
just lurking... but from my experience.. the picture is never current ...
hello teena
annie: 53 and 43 match. 17 and 17 are iffy. all depends.
PAx5, PEx3, POx2, PRx2. what's missing?

no v -- no vigourous workout
Just change the first letter of the vigorous. re plus to run a flawed election
Thanks for that.
Or re plus the first letters of not left.
Not left as in direction.
Sandieangel - not seen a Lickety list. sorry.

CE6? It's my last 1. Help,please?
but so does the second one as well!
first te6 is a group of three
I have to go thanks for all the help and clues.
ty -- I'm missing a 4 before that then
of course! duh
ce + r + came together
te (golf peg) + french sea
scouser, ty.
congrats to gramma
*!* ta da *!* - thanks for the help :)
tx flosey!
you'll get 4 if you get the 6 I clued nan
yw Une and nan
must go and get ready for my golf game -- will come back and clue if I have time.
I can clue for a bit if anyone needs help
just going to get coffee, brb
The te5 reminds me of curt or concise; but, with a c instead of a s. Then the 6 has a consonant on the end.
flosey, ty for posting the list. I couldn't have done it without you.
oh, you are most welcome gramma, I was just admiring your beautiful granddaughters
such bright, happy darlings
Im off for 4 days of their company, while Mom and Dad go skiing.
They are the best. I'm so lucky to be close enough to help out and to see them every week.
how very fortunate you are
Boy do I know it!
I have a grandson in north Van. and daughter was just saying I must get over to see him, he's 19 months and changing so fast
My husband left this am to go skiing with them and then I'll head over the mountain later and stay.
Is he very far away?
it's so hard to get 3 or 4 days to go over - have to allow betst part of a day to go and come
Have them meet you 1/2 way and take him home with you.
2 ferrys 35 min, and 90 min. then bus 1 hr. they pick me up at bus terminal
Good grief. That is not an easy trek
they offer to come to the ferry terminal but I figure it's just as easy for me to get on the bus right on the ferry before it docks, takes me to the bus terminal
no easy, but so well worth it
**not easy, ....
I figure I'll never get this time again. So I do what I can.
exactly, and easier for me to go than for them to come here with all the 'stuff' they need to use here
I loved being a mother when mine where small. Being a grand is even better.
***or were small
hello is lickety up today - mine still shows friday
I'm off to the shower. See you all later.
no ursh but I have a list in my profile if that will help you
*delurking to comment* gramma & flosey- just want to say how wonderful your attitude, as a mother of 4 it's nice when grandparents understand!
ty fruittart, I raised 4 also, do understand
when I was raising mine, we were in Ontario, parents were 1/2 hour away
i was an only and my mom would prefer me to travel across the country to visit her with all four than for her to hop on a plane and come here.
"grandchildren are your reward for not having strangled your teenagers" (grin)
lol, indeed there were a few times when you just had to close your eyes and count
ty flosey am sooooo stuck
what do you need ursh
i'm just getting into the teenager stage with the oldest . . . we'll see if I get to the grandparent stage!
lol, enjoy these years fruittart
Try to remember what you and your friends were like as teens; pick your battles; and listen to them.
I am very blessed - daughter number one with 2 little girls lives 5 mins up the road and daughter number 2 lives 30 min away but she is recently divorced and spends a lot of time with us so we see g/kids all the time
Lurking...my middle child turned 16 today, and we're watching the first Harry Potter movie together in our jammies as we speak!
sad re divorce but great to spend so much time with them
actually, the kids are pretty good and I really enjoy one on one time with them but all four together can get catty with each other.
flosey I will have a go with your list and see how I go
oh champ, those times are so precious
Seriously. She's getting her car, so I won't see her anymore! ;)
ursh, what I do, is squeeze it so just the clues are showing and put it beside the grid (make this grid page a bit slimmer
I, too, am blessed. About an hour away from our 4 g'kids. And even though our son is divorced from the mom of the older 2, we remain friends and get to see them all very often.
that's nice that it's amicable java
that's wonderful java
have to take the youngest to a birthday party now, so I'm off. I'm sure your kids appreciate your helpfulness! *poof*
tx flosey that is exactly what I have done - only irritation is it dissappears if I fill in a word on the grid
We work at it.
if you click on the little square at extreme top right of your screen, it will make it very small, then you just enlarge to size needed
and do same with the clues
copair
that's NOT a word in any language
but of course I tried it!
hi all
did it work champ? ;-)
hi jmc.....no...don't bother! ;)
lol, but sometimes monkeying is the only way to find some of the strange words in here
Exactly!
i have only gotten into the swing of true monkeying
hi jmc
but i confess i am embarrassed how many simple words i have monkeyed only recognized what they are after the fact!
monkeying ROCKS when it works!
it does sound odd if you are mispronouncing them as you type - then you realize!!
One of the things that happens is I don't pronouce the word right until I see it in type...and then it's a "doh"!
yes, java, then you wonder how you missed a simple one
LOL flosey - I think we just typed the same idea
exactly java
Well...every time I see "epitome" I have to THINK about it!!!
Sure - it's ep - i - tome...
EXACTLY!
lol adamant is the word that always stops me
i was sure for a long time it was a-damn-ent even thought i knew the oral word
That one's easy - he was a rock "star"
HA!!!
??
Adam Ant
Adam Ant
oh a little after my time :-)
i had this problem in college in 1969-1970
I have nothing from the second row E...must be going blind

cabin boy, oh cabin boy, you dirty little nipper
one word I never saw used here is poetaster -- one of my faves...

Or is that cabana boy?
why would one want to taste a poet?

eww dead poet on toast...
PB

There once was a po** named Emily, who wrote lyrics for musician Don Henley...

lol
but don't procrastinate, perendinate!
She won't have a go with the dork.
shhh..do not say "laundry" it is down the hall near me and it will hear you....
Love it, Molly
much better than another rhyming word dealing with the "other white meat"
I was trying to avoid that one.
And you did
The only other word I could think of was the alien with Mindy
mmm..mindy was cute;)

Hey, Pam Dawber is married to Mark Harmon. That's all the fame she needs. Yowza!

oooh. burn. go play scrabble by yourself

Hi Mom.

Can anyone help with the 2nd r in column 2. i have RE 6 6 5 4 5 5

Hey Min.
perhaps sparty is in a sugar coma
doing okay--my mopey son came by
you can come out now sparty
What's he moping about. Or is that just the general demeanor?
no, just the canal a few dooors away - from quiet tdall canal to roaring torrent - the tide was in, the rain was biblical, and all the storm mwater from many suburbs drains into the canal. some streets were like creeks thenmselves. Cars floating along them - as well as the occasional eel!
getting better at this game, down to 28 and no list, very good for me
No Way....the drinks are great....i'm staying
did you grab an eel for supper?
ewww
lol many people feel that way sparty
Oh Lynx!! That sounds awful.

Or a building set you had as a kid.
co + do you live in a house or an ***?
hi jeff
co7 is past tense -- i was cluing co5. (and the *** is an abbreviation)
TY Smaandmea - didn't have those
oh that led me to ap5. thanks
afternoon all
hi Jeff
i swear the temp is dropping like a stone here
Hello Jeff7!How are you doing? Welcome to the puzzle
Wow - thank you SO MUCH

sun sun sunny here. the drift have compacted down about a foot.
lol no offense but i am glad i am not visiting you jes!
i am tired of this freezing rain. i am going to fl on feb 18... pray the airports aren't close for some reason or another
heh. none taken, jmc; very few folks want to visit here this time of year
i will keep my fingers crossed for you dorens
supposed to see sun tomorrow.... may it melt enough ice that i can free some of my bushes that are frozen to the ground under tons of ice that dripped from the roof
where is here jes?
i went out in the wet snow to knock them off my trees so they are okay
there is ice here that is more than three inches thick j
hammer time!
serious hammer, i'd think. and i'll likely damage the plants either way
washington state, dorens
yah, that can be cold i'd think. maybe i'll get there some summer.. have never been and hear it's beautiful
we are thinking of going to Seattle and surrounds for summer vacation
DH and i have been but never the kids
Pulled pork barbecue working in my kitchen. It sure smells good.

TY Dorens, the me7 & 6 is along the same line if you don't have them
ty dorens

*wondering why molly had the tiara*
any a clues please?
SCIENCE!
ha. now i have the me7 but not the 6!!
2 diff vwls at the end Dorens
to have a child of ur own but not by birth, science
I have lots of tiaras. But I will NEVER be The Babble Queen. Too dim.
drop the a for 6
nice clue cosd very sweet
ty still not seeing much here 35 left
got it.. tiara to lyn for sure
27. How's the chogmosphere?
down to four words... and one of them is STILL a four... shame on me. and hi kap. seems friendly enough
hi kap
phantom ad5/14er
hi Kap
dorens you be so silly
Hi. Is it safe to come in?
top middle a..........
Not an Apple product mp3 player
absolutely...come on down...
science i am coming to austin Oct 2 or 8th (I forget) and hope to have a babble meet up
but j... how could i be missing a four? they're always the first ones to finish...
brb turning on expert
and don't tell me houston is to far I know better
hey all -- was going to play but eyes are so tired and painful. Was doing a lot of writing this morning.
some 4s are hard
writing---grrrrrr
Good, if you want to email and see if we can meet up when you are in the area this summer?
Oh no- does that put me in PB?
then rest them stid. just chat with us instead
hi Stid - should you be resting in a dark room instead?
heard there are cocktails there kaplan, maybe you want to go in
lol no kap
LOL doren -- the writing in the chog is teenier than the letters in the grid...
(((many hugs))) and yes lynxxx, I should. but i didn't get to babble at all yesterday.
you can make it larger stid... you know that, yes?
hi folks
Do you know thaat there is actually a new biography of Salinger that is good, not gossipy, is well-written, and clarifying?
you can get the writing in the chog to be bigger
go to view, and zoom in
didn't know that kap... could be interesting.. not written by joyce maynard?
argh
oh. no list lol
thats funny cause i was looking at the list and saw an ab word and i found one in the grid
you don't want to meetup science?
print is at about 30 pt now doren and jmc, thanks. I know how to make the text bigger LOL but it's the actual eyeball use that is the problem
an interesting way of saying hello
what do you mean j?
then you should be resting the eyes stid. don't you think?
No it's brand new- written by a guy who had a website for years and was researching- always respectful. I wouldn't read the Joyce Maynard one.
i was telling you about a meetup and you next response was arrgh
does anyone have a list - just getting started and may need it later
Oh, I did not see it! Let me look. The argh was for the a's
min does wv
Fireworks! :D
*sigh* yes doren. I should. *sigh* but ... *sigh*
YAY cgw!
jmc, i was in austin two years ago and met wildcat there.. was fun
whoo hoo cgw
:D
Oh, J October.......It depends on if I have a show! Otherwise, that sounds like fun!
congrats cgw!
too many R's -- all in the wrong places.
yay cgw.. i will never get my last four... sniff sniff
Want hints? :D
i hope to me** wildcat and maybe kje (but she thinks she has to work) and others
Grrrr
*hands dorens a hankie*
yes you will doren
hi ru
*offers kaplan choclits*
hi jm
RURU!!! (((hugs and hugs)))
*hands stid an enlarger*
ahah! norman vincent peale enters the chog
...Guess not. I'm gonna go back to studying, then. :D
J send me an email when you have the definite dates
ru i love your icon! lol
Yoo hoo...Dorens...just what made that little old ant, think he could move the rubber tree plant...
bye cgw
*poofs*
bye cgw, I will follow you out.
What did Normal Vincent Peale?
thanks jm
i will have to remember your real name but i know i can find it on fb
Norman.
bye stiddie
see you-all when I have vision again I think... *poof*
Ladies and Gentlemen...STIDMAMA! Now you see her, now you don't.
my name? who's name?
grapes?
great icon ru... scrabbler should see it
I'm not on FB.
this chog is so confusing sometimes
sciencegeeks name so i can email her when i remember what date i am in austin
heaven forbid!!
lol ru!
thanks doren
/me totally missed stid? wow, she's quick
i think scrabs would laugh at it too
J do you have my email?
nah, you're slow
*snicker*
i can talk to you on fb science
i just have to start trying to remember who all is in texas
sounds good to me. Why are you coming to Austin?
i'm multi-tasking! building the business website and trying to find out info about a possible payment plan to offer clients AND babbling :P
go jes go
I need to finish my new website. I hate working on it
very impressive the most i do is answer the hotline and talk to staff and babble
well, ok, bruce is building the website, but i'm "supervising" and answering questions
that reminds me i need to give my IT guy a long list of things to do next week
(ducking back in)
hey, there's a thought--anybody have any interesting ways they pay for their veterinary bills? besides barter--sorry, kids, i'm not a pawn shop or jewelery, i don't take necklaces for surgery...
i roll my eyes at the proposed price and walk out
I have one left, and have no idea what I'm missing. Is there only one g?
just visa, jes, and mostly for the dog; the cats don't go out so I don't take them to the vet very often
they wanted to charge $400 for my cat to stay overnight for observation
i am out of here... hoping these four words will be esier to find later on after a couple of glasses of vino. bye all
only one g, dalia
only one G dalia
Argh, I quit. I am going to the grocery store and then making jewelry. Chalking this one up as not to be
bye dorens
bye Dorens
i told them i would watch her myself and i did
sorry science
bye, dorens and sciencegeek!
that's not very helpful to me, jam :P i'm trying to make it easy as possible for people to choke down my prices....
9 m's? 2 o's? (Sorry--but I'm going nuts here.)
sorry :-(
bye all have fun
minveryork has a list dalia
so right now, i've got visa, mastercard, discover, cash, check, Care Credit, and have just emailed for info on Farm Plan (whatever that is, but the other vet in the county takes it, so...)
stats for the Os please?
bye, sciencegeek
thanks, jm
doesn't it seem like operi ought to be the plural of opera?
i was just wondering if you had used or heard of other payment plans i should look into
hmmm could you let them do work for you?
od4.5 & op5.14 Cos
i would think operea
od4/5 and op 5/14, cos, and I don't have either one of them
ty
od is a babblet
thx, jmc, got it for some reason
found the od4 thanks
od** spankie
hi all
it would seem that they could agree to wash out a stall or a cage or something
well looks like i've been elected to take the kids sledding.
bl for my laste 25
have fun GE
the op is a choice
ah, thx again, jmc!
Happy sledding, GE!
thanks!
jes?
O's done
yw guys
i didn't want to rush in with clues when you asked for stats
well, that gets clunky, jam. technically, i CAN trade services, but I already have a full staff, so unless it's someone with a particular skill (repainting the sign, or paving the parking lot, or something) i would be displacing an existing employee to do so.
i once had a carpenter build me a deck in exchange for legal work
someone else paid in pickles and jam
and letting people that are not official employees handle animals or medical stuff, the more interesting life gets if someone gets hurt.
in the chinese proverb sense of interesting...
heh. it would take a lot of jam to pay off a veterinary bill! :D
no I would not suggest letting them do anything that skilled
legal fees are not small either ;-)
though dr M does tell an entertaining story about a lady that paid part of her bill with a frozen goose....
who has a list?
min has a list
min tiene una lista
i do trade with some people (dental cleanings for my lawyer's dog in exchange for her paperwork/time...)
but that's not really an "official" payment method that I can list on the website, I think
we sounded like a foreign language dialog there
no no you wouldn't want to list that
off to take the kid grocery shopping (the kid is 21, in case you were wondering...), bbl
that will bankrupt you uu
no kidding
ok, next question then, any general questions any of you have ever wanted to ask a vet? (making a FAQ page now)
good luck, uusue
How to train a cat to use a litter box
really
uu you can take me grocery shopping too
minveryork, i cant find on the list
they're supposed to train themselves, jam! :D
my first three cats knew it automatically but my current cat refuses
change the litter more often jm
look on rankings sue
nope she never did
its probably too late since she is 13 or so
where does she go.. outside?
is she the only cat? try different litter textures and scents (or rather, unscented is better), different styles of box (covered/open), and different locations of box
go to rankings, use control F, then type name in the box
a lot of cats will refuse to share a box with another cat
mostly ru
mostly?
*note to self.. don't walk around JM's house in barefeet
i tried 4 different kinds of litter and three different boxes
lol i have an unfinished basement
it actually smells less like cat here than at house with litterboxes
but it is embarrassing when i try to get someone to cat sit
oh.. I bet
did doren leave?
. . . and they offer to change the litter
yeah a while back ru
what word am i thinking of.. ripote or???
riposte?
ty!
its not in the grid then lol
riposte
nope
but Jack is
Daniels?
no.. the serial killer
yep first word i found
Someone mention Mr Daniels?
oh you mean Jack the. . . .
there are a bevy of words with that ending
hi soodle
Hey Jmc, Cos, Ru and assorted lurkers :-)
i am suppose to go to a friends for dinner but they didn't tell me what time
fondly remembers first grateful dead concert for tr7
found one... the bo6
sorry sood.. I am a sorted lurker
who was that? Buddy Holly?
the BIg Bo6
yep
The Day the Music
. . . Died
clue for the second ap5 pls
bye bye miss american pie. . .
Hic.. the Day the Music Died was last Thursday - Buddy Holly's anniversary.
. . . .drove my chevy to the levy but the levy was dry. . .
AP 5, more appropriate, Sue
. . . good ole boys drinking whiskey and rye. . .
........singing this will be the day that I die......
. . . .this will be the day that i die.
*sniff*
...This will be the day that I die>>>>
Oooh... harmonies with soodle and jmc....
And blue......
hi blue!
Hello everyone!!
I was singing that the other day- and looking on line- Feb 3 was the day the music died- or did you already say that
And this grid is a tribute.
Been there, said that, Kap....
Buddy Holly was awesome.
soodle already said that
I've been lurking for months, just thought I would drop in and say Hi
he was a good person and a great musician AND a Texan
hi blueheron
not getting it
Don McLean's song is awesome..... so many references....
A wiggle in her walk and a giggle in her talk
but love the duets
glad you dropped by to sing with us
hello wv
they make the world go round round round
hi wv
And Richie Valens was just 17.
sorry sue what are you not getting?
Hey, wouldn't that be a great name for a band... The Lurkin' Babblers'..........
I've always loved that song...reminds me of when I was younger (17)
lol ap5/12, 2nd one
But you have probably already had this conversation.
Like 40 years ago...arggh
I am stuck at 26.
Sue like chAP*** and verse
I knew if I had the chance that I could make those people dance and maybe they'd be happy for a while
well if a word is perfect it is ap* and if it is more perfect it is ap5
ty lynx
fish me now
i forgot they were so young
thanks kap
They get younger as we get older, it seems
lol there is that kap
Buddy Holly- I think he was a genius.
who about co5, 1st one
sigh when should i call the people who invited me to dinner to find out what time?
am i stating with a fish?
Oh, Lynn. I'm glad I caught you. You left as I came on yesterday, and you were going to check out what damage was wrought by the storm. I hope everything was ok?
bye bye American Pie, drove my chevy to the levey but the levey was dry. Those good old boys were drinking whiskey and rye...
remember the clue you just got sue? ;-)
nm
I got it
lol sue
Minor damage for me thanks Soodle
maybe now jmc:)
jmc - do you know what time they normally eat?
okay i am off to find out when is dinner
bbl maybe
Is your home habitable, Lynn?
Hello all. Lynxx glad to catch you aboard the good ship Babble and find out you are floating high and mostly dry.
is there a list today
Yes Soodle, we just had rain thru the skylight in one room, ceiling won't collapse and we will take up carpet today - lost a tree - not too bad compared to a few others around here
Min apparently has on Kazz
Can you get things to dry out okay? You must have power or you wouldn't be able to Babble.
TY Stidgmere
Oh, my, Lynn. You Ozzies really have been suffering the wrath of Mother Nature this year. I am very glad you didn't suffer too much damage.
Acytually we were going to take up the carpet in this room anyway - polished underneath - not that we will tell insurance company that
Global climate change- not Mother Nature
thanks Lynn - hope that it all works out for you
..will cover the cost of tree removal - I don't think that is covered by insurance
We also are in amazement at the amount of damage Australia has suffered this year. Is it locusts next?
He he. Very same as me, Lynn. During the exceptional cold spell before Christmas, we had a burst pipe which caused minor damage. But I am hoping to get a new floor in the sitting room out of it.
lol, the locusts are actgually here now Stidgmere - good thing about all the floods they might dissappear!
Whispers in case the insurance man is listening ( I never liked that carpet anyway...)
Calling Al Gore.
lol Soodle, we just had new carpet put in in all the rest of the house except this one room
Lynn, these weather related events must be wreaking havoc on the national economy?
I find it all really alarming.
Am sure will puyt a sizeable dent in the coffers Soodle (they are even raising a new tax levy for the floods) but our economy is very strong at the moment
Well, thats good to hear, Lynn.
I haven't found a word in 25 minutes
Monkeys feeling depressed.
Words, are there words on this grid? Didn't think so.
Historically we have always had long long droughts, floods, bushfires - even locusts plagues - but I agree Kaplan. I don'rt think our generation/s have done very well b y the Earth
Apparently there are 112 of them Stid.
Well, I'm shocked. I can only vouch for 52 words on this grid. The rest are imposters.
I have 87. I don't see how there are any more.
does any one have the co 6/27s. I have 1 of them - slang for a policeman
That's the one I have.
ce kind of rhymes with sesame street's frog
thnx Kap
sorry, I am up to 108 (without a list so far) so they won't be too hard to find for you if I have managed them
sorry that was ce.. co.. 6/24 ... also called chopper
thank you for that
and co 6/27 like the word below it minus the double letter.. (turn it into a single)
got the ce need the co 6/27 - got the co 6/24
co5.14 is from coconuts - double the second cons for co6
oh i screwed that clue up royally. i meant to double the single letter in the center!
thanks Dorens - we must think on the same wavelenght cos i got it
ty, I got a raft of co words from that!
i am still missing the first me6.. anyone?
why the heck isnt rapter a word
nice to know someone thinks on my wavelength... but then again maybe that is scary
cause it is raptOr?
me6 - an old fashioned shopkeeper I think
a word for a shop keeper old word - I think -
oh dear
lol i had a late night
ok, so now kazz and lynxx are on the same wavelength... but not me
I don't know that reference. This is the discussion yesterday. Sometimes I'm not smart enough for the sophisticated clues.
i bet i know it but can't see it
Oh, I got it. Like Mabel Me****
Mabel Me**** was a singer.
see-- there we go! tanks..... fw
me & if something is not common is is sca****
Hooray for Dorens!!
oh gosh. now what can i do? for some reason i don't want to pick up my book. i have been addicted to the computer this week... to a ridiculous extent... i need to wean myself off i guess
I thought "perc" is a word
Oh, I didn't know that was a word for shop keeper. Interesting.
This older generation doesn't read anymore.
If you make coffe, you do sometimes use the perc system.
me 6 most of the begining of a chap who fights for money plus 18th letter of the alphabet
Did Dorens get fireworks? Congrats!!!!

yw
Dang! I'm having connection problems; we have Comcast for phone and internet. both have been on and off all day. NOW they tell me that the whole area I live in is having phone problems; how come the internet works (they are both on the modem line)
thats why i cancelled comcast and got dish/qwest.. no problems since. even witht he snow and ice...
comcast is evil.
nef, I have the same arrangement and it can get weird sometimes
We have the dish for TV; Comcast was horrid for that. But I don't like it for computer
qwest is not an option here, tho - without comcast it would be a dish and verizon, and I hate verizon
ah makes sense!
(Actually, I have Direct TV when I think about it)
direct tv i dont like.. dish is better for me anyway.cheaper. andi get starz, tmc, encore free lol
but I am not getting the re5/14 clue, my sailing lingo must be rusty :-)
me neither uusue@
in our area I get a better deal with Direct TV, cos. Must be different areas of the country have better deals?
probably so. with comcast i was paying almost 200 a month.. but with dish im paying 40 a month for the same service
re5/14 re + over the road van
that's a lot. I pay about $100 for internet, basic cable, and unlimited local and ld phone
thats a good deal sue
uusue, if I try to fix something different than the correct way, (say how I plug thnigs in) I'm re***ing it to work (that's the 5/14 I have, anyway)
with quest and dish combined its like 75
still 125.00 cheaper
I pay 68 for Direct TV and 88 for unlimited phone (local and long distance) and internet
i keep finding re 5/12s ugh
me too, and I am still in the dark
re + f***erator (where you keep food cold)
found it!
now i can breath
clue for the ce 6/24?
thx, nef, finally penetrated my thick head :-)
rhymes with Sesame st. frog
ty! major jim henson fan here
I wish I could remember all the words I entered earlier when I found out the computer wasn't just slow and I was offline.
oh man that sucks
Yes, I hate it when that happens!
yeah. I sometimes get on a roll and enter a whole slew of words as I see them (that's why I screw up and enter a bunch in chog at times). But I'm not seeing anything now
lil monkey wanted me to post that she made it through the polar plunge today. (for those of you that knew about it.)
any clue for the tr6?

at least the temp wasn't TOO bad then. Last year when my dtr. did it it was about 10 degrees. The hot tubs helped but it was still way too cold!
oh man! that is way too cold!!
ty very much!
it could have been a lot worse here, not too bad
this has been a miserably cold snowy year here; so I'm glad that they've decided to do the polar bear plunge a little later in the winter
i think that was a good idea.
i'm off to FB and to check my email. have a good evening nef
you too LB!

hello dear friends
Heya Trif, how goes it in your world tonight?
very well molly. how are you?
All good. Getting ready to curl up in front of a good movie.
which one?
Haven't decided yet. Whatever I download from my friend amazonunbox. : D
I finally watched the social network today....GREAT movie, but now I will feel slightly dirty whenever I go on FB...what a JERK that guy!
aw well. 15 left, but I give up. I have no more hair to tear out. lol
I have no interest in that one. Or Facebook really. I'm only a member there because it gives me access to family photos.
LOL spark...getting there myself, and I have only been babbling for 20mins....
lol Trifioso. I hate feeling my limitations. hecko.
Without the list, life is listless.
how many words begin with the stuff we breathe, please?
One
merci. all set then
Hello Gran Mere, how are you doing tonight?
*snerk* nice, stidgmere. hi all :)
I'm fine Molly. I plan to watch some DVDs tonight. Hi jesdraggon. Other than listless, fine.
What are you going to watch Gran Mere?
Outtakes from Indiana Jones--snippets on U.S. history.
I'm missing bunches of p words... any clues for words from the top p?
pa** means not the whole thing.
pa** such as shoes come in this amount also mittens.
i have those 2. and what you write on.
and how many holes at the golf course.
missing the other half though
ty didn't have the writing one.
welcome :)
ah, there's one that means get something ready
I think this comes from the top p-pr + 2 vowels
thanks, scribe
gladly-
I dont' get the golf course one....
uhm. how about how many of something are supposed to be on the shelf?
pa4,4
sorry, 4,5
if you do well at golf, you are below it
is that the one with the double final cons?
yeah
Hi all. Ever wanted to visit The Tower of London? Then take 12+ minutes out of your day to watch and listen to this Yeoman (Beefeater) doing part of the guided tour. It's all true and he tells it so well! http://tinyurl.com/5r3wdr5
If you don't feel well, you feel below pa**.
Lovely icon photo, btw...did you know I adopted a rescued dog in december?
i didn't, that's good to hear :) what kind did you get, and how's it working out?
Hi Jacula. Heck, I've just wanted to get to London--I mean not just the airport, but the city. I'll try the tinyurl site.
He is an absolute MUTT, and so far, pretty darn terrific, if a bit rough round the edges at first. he had a pretty significant parasite load that has been hard to regulate, but seems in check now.
his baby picture is on my profile page....
stidge - do take the time out to watch and listen. It's so good.
ty jacula
Trif - he has labrador in him at the very least.
he;s cute!
yay. I have the list! okay then. I'm gonna firework. :)
yes, definitely lab, and prob some german shepherd as well. he weighed 4 pounds when we got him, (8 weeks) and is now over 27 pounds. god help us all
stidge - incidentally, if you do eventually get to London, you'll need to be there early for the Crown Jewels Tour or the Tower tour. The torture stuff is ouchingy worth seeing, as is the same at Warwick Castle.
List is in my profile for anyone that needs it, assuming Lickety list has still not arrived.
Trif - not like our old Jack RussellXSheltie then, who never weighed more than 17-19 pounds in his entire life.
Okay, have put up more recent photo as well. he really is a dear little boy
I LOVE Jack Russells, but *man* they are a whole lotta dog in one teeny little package!
Trif - our JRX didn't really have that 'I'm going to tear your house to pieces if you leave me alone there' philosophy. He was far more laid back, due to being cross-bred, I guess.
he sounds like a lovely family member, jacula!
He was only a mad JR when he saw any breed of spaniel, and then he'd go in for the kill. No idea why! Perhaps a spaniel of some kind ursurped him and so that was why he was dumped on a busy road for us to find?
hee hee
Cockers, Welsh, King Charles, he hated them all.:-(
hello all, taking a short break from studying while I eat supper (can't see well enough to read the screen with steam from the curry fogging up my glasses.
yummy curry!
HI STID! SHOUTS AND WAVES TO BE SEEN THROUGH THE STEAM.
***hugs jac and trifioso***
are your eyes feeling better stid?
Jacula, so far all we can confirm he hates is vacuum cleaners, and car rides. weird, as Diggity LOVES car rides. Indy had better get over it, as we tend to take the doggos everywhere in the summer. can't wait to see Indy at a beach!
a little, Good -- have been working all day, but took a break of about a half an hour to visit with our dear friend riemann who is visiting today
We had Bobotie on Friday night. That's the South African version of Shepherd's Pie, I guess. Minced lamb , curried with a bay leaved batter topping rather than a potato topping.
what color curry, jacula?
sounds nice, jac!
well happy to hear that stid
how is your weekend going good?
brown, not red or yellow curry, Trif, Why do you ask?
I love all kinds of curries, and was just curious, is all. I have been doing a lot with red curry lately, myself
very well thanks. i've taken back the household chores from my husband for the weekend and it has been surprisingly satisfying.
our supper is green curry (from a jar, but nice nonetheless)
good for you! I like doing the chores when I can justify that much time... lately just keeping the bathroom sinks clear feels like such a victory.
crossy picked up some goodies for dins tomorrow night,a nice spinach spiral pasta, some fresh basil and oregano leaves,a small brick of provalone and some itallian pizza dough.i am going to make a nice aldente pasta with the fresh herbs,a touch of garlic,a dash of pepper, some mediterranian sea salt and ill shave to provalone over top and lightly drizzle extra viggin olive oil on it and i am soaking the chilli flakes in oil overnight and will brush on the home made itallian crust with all the herbs and spices and bake hot at 500f for 5 min till it puffs up all crispy and have a nice feta greek salad on da side;))...sound ok?
Bobotie is the basic African shanty town meal to feed a family. You mince lamb (or maybe goat), you add a slice of white bread soaked in water, a basic brown curry powder, onion. You top it with one egg beaten with milk and seasoning. Then you put it in the oven for 50 mins.
*books plane, train, car, boat, snowshoes and sled dogs* I'll be there, cross!!!
what time shall we be over, crossy?
snap, trifioso!
oooh. halfway!!
pick me up on your way to crossys, stid?
Right - Crossy's doing dinner tonight!
*pushes tom off sled to make room for trifioso*
Please don't try to make Bobotie from my last post, since it's not the full recipe.
hi stid and crossy
I am falling asleep...goodnight dear friends, and see you tomorrow, crossy and stid!
sweet dreams trifioso!!
g'night, trif!
if you picked up trif then that would be the pr7 before the real me4-up with crossy
stid, pushing Tom off the sled wasn't a nice thing to do! *Tuts in Mama cross fashion.*
hey jes! the (P*Y&TO&T MUTT DOG ate the stidkid's HUGE sandwich while the kid was at dance lessons and I was stuck in the back room writing.... *sigh* he NEVER climbs up on the table to eat.
stid - I assume you mean the dog and not the kid.
I was most miffed. The dog is now over-full and whiny. But I think he'll be okay once the discomfort "passes" *yuck mama face*
i have not done REAL itallian sine my bakery days :)) mmm cannot wait
LOL right. Dog. Kid doesn't even need to climb up to reach the top of the kitchen cabinets!
poor puppy
stid - having cats and dogs, you should know far better than to leave anything edible out of the fridge or hidden.
anyway.... jes I have a LOVELY German Shepherd Dog, house trained and adorable... will trade for lady-like beagle cross....
crossy - poor puppy nothing! He chose to pinch the food and eat it.
oh, only dogs Jac. never cats due to allergies. :-D And this fellow really has never ever eaten things even that were within reach unless they were actually on the floor.
*worries I scared jes away*
our cats are forbidden under pain of a reverse mohawk to be trying to go on the counters
will ya, now. how old is the german shepherd? he might be generally easier for me to rehome, being younger...
after all, he can walk past and reach well onto the kitchen table without stretching
Our dog jumped up and knocked a plate with a cheese sandwich on only once. The rap on the nose and the removal of the food cured him for the rest of his life.
he's just turned 6. rofl... he'll be lucky to make 7 at this rate!
hmm. that's not young enough to be an easy adoption, stid! poo
maybe he just needs a little lady to keep him in line?
unfortunately, I was so far away I didn't even know anything had happened until the kid got home and asked if *i* had eated the sandwich (which of course I wouldn't since it had too many allergens)
*grin* VERY nice try, jes!
When he started pinching potatoes from the open veg rack, not eating them but making puppy tooth marks in them, I changed the rack around so he could only reach the onions. One day of one toothmarked onion cured him.
12 left m's and r's. bb in a few
later good!
Jacula-be very careful with dogs & onions-if eaten it will dehydrate them & can kill them-
had to slip it in there, stid :)
crossy - Our cat(s), sadly now just cat, are also forbidden from going on the worktops or tables on pain of a KUTA. (Kick up the ass).
**hugs jes**
that would take an awful lot of onion, actually, scribe.
okay, eyes starting to hurt, but I am past halfway. Back tomorrow, probably. I hope you-all have lovely evenings/days! *Poof*
lol jacula...love the onion idea for bad puppies!
there is danger for choking if they try to swallow them whole, of course, but basically the concern would be that large amounts of onion (or garlic) can result in a hemolytic anemia. And that's much more common in cats than dogs.
have a good night, stid
scribe - I knew that when I put the onions within his puppy reach. Once sink in of the teeth and he was crying. He never did it again, lived to the ripe old age of 18, and I still miss him some 11 years after he's gone.
my apologies-just trying to prevent heartache
'Night Stid. Sleep well.
scribe - it's okay.
Scribe - there are a lot of us old-timers/animal lovers here and we mostly know all the pitfalls, but no harm is ever done by anyone pointing the pitfalls out.
Having said that, our old dog loved my Irish Stew, which did contain onion. I used to hoick the onions out as much as I could.
hi again! Now that my tummy is full, maybe I can find my last 30 words
Hi Nef.
hi nef :)
hi Jac and jes
Just yell if you need a clue, Nef.
co 6,27 that's not a soft metal?
what's all this about dogs eating onions? (hi all)
I was catching up with chat there for a minute. (I'd taken DH out for his b'day -which was yesterday, but I was working then- and we just got back)
hi gwen :)
hi jes! (and i'm the onion eater in the family)
We had a dog that loved grapes, she just loved them and then we found out that they shouldn't have them. So what did she do? She would go out in the fall and eat them right off the grape vines!
yeah, i like them too, but bruce doesn't, and since he does the cooking, onions are not a big part of the diet anymore
the grape thing is really weird, nef. unknown toxic principle, unknown action, not dose-dependent, not consistent across dogs, and therefore not predictable...
co5 and co6 like the wonderful life director
ce6?
a really mangled version of the muppet frog, dan
i guess your dog was not one of the dogs that succumbs to grape toxins
ty jes!
good clue, ty jes!
Tootsie (her name when we got her from the pound; not something I'd put on a dog normally) was a little 10 lb Schitz-poo and she would eat tons of grapes. It never seemed to bother her one bit. She'd also eat the tomatoes and raspberries right off the vines too
firewords! bo5 a Dukes of Hazzard painting was my last - thanks jes and all cluers
yay dan!
YAY, Dan2!!! WTG!!!!
wtg dan !!! ~~~~ !!!!!
got the bo5, too, ty

riposte is haunting me.
This grid is like a Rorschark test with letters. tell me what do you see in this one?
i see five bookshelves. but i see bookshelves everywhere lol
I see buildings and streets.
and i also see a silly jumble of P-R-P-P-R-R-R-P!
got the co5, but not finding the co6...
Well, with this in mind, I shall wander up to watch tv. Enjoy the random letters all.
have a good night, stidgemere

od4 is a Babblet, op5 is PT of choice
TY!
I see you op5 for a funny clue gwen

Hi Rol and Dan
ai4 and ap4
thanks!
ai4/4 and ap4/6
herin, stress has a lot to do with flare-ups I think
hi and bye herin - I must off to bed
That and this weather. I think we were so lucky to miss it. The two surrounding burbs got flooded
so you guys are safe?
anecdotal that i, too, have eczema that comes and goes according nothing that i can identify!
Yes. Everyone I know is. But to get 140mm of rain in one day is insane
I totally agree with you about that much rain, herin
Gwen, what do you do for your eczema?
to be honest, i use no remedy. i have tried a bunch and none seems to do anything, or make it worse. just keep water and oil off the affected area
Gwen I am going to try and find Udder Cream
sometimes if it itches a lot, i have tried an anti-itch lotion, just to keep from scratchin it
I used eucerin, (a very thick and heavy cream) which really helped clear it up. also hydrocortisone cream. But I've never had a real "bad" problem with it
I need one word for fireworks - c5. I have ce4,6,4' co5,7,4,4,4,4,5,6,6,5,6,4,5;cr5,5. What am I missing? Help, please?

jmc, sometimes we want our way so bad; but there is a different path for us to follow. That's how I was 2 years ago. I *wasn't going to give up working in cardiology; but the path for me was actually prenatal nursing. I don't earn much money now; but I'm very happy
oh i know nef it just feels like my quaker peers don't . . . i don't know . . ..value me

that's good (I didn't want to say the m 4/5 WORD) ;-)
lol pb for me *grabs a margarita*
jmc, sometimes those we want recognition from think that we already know that they appreciate us. It feels like they take advantage of us
true -- i actually got an email from the ministry and worship committee stating that a member had written about me by name in describing people who support the spiritual state of the me**ing
so like i said I will get over my sulks! lol I usually do
but finish this grid I will not!
that is so nice that they told you that!
come on jmc; you can do it!
so i think i am going to read a book
well i hope things get better, jam
okay, make sure you pick an up-lifting one then
well the person who wrote the email had gone out to lunch to me with another member of the committee and they had point blank asked me if i felt appreciated and i said no that i thought mostly people thought i was crazy.
things will, thanks for letting me grump
see you tomorrow
good night, jmc
