yes and no. I have lymphedema very bad in my right arm, but on the good side - I am heading to Hawaii on Monday
well! so... can you wrap the arm lightly to help the swelling go down so you will be more comfortable? hawaii this time of year always sounds so appealing!
I don't know much about lymphedema except it looks uncomfortable.
I am going to a therapist who has wrapped my arm like a mummy. I will be going for the next three days, if we don't have another paralyzing storm

it is uncomfortable, and worse being wrapped, but the result should be good.
well, I guess that the idea is to get the extra fluid to be in a place where your systems can take care of it. So I hope that a few days discomfort will yield many more days of enjoyment.

it was a salty sweet...was quite yummy actually..not hard to do either you dredge the bacon slices in brown sugar...lay it on a cookie sheet lined with foil....then lay foil over it...and place a second cookie shett on top..bake 20 - 25 mins..let cool a couple mins as the caramelized sugar hardens

Re techniques - very interesting. I am only new to Babbling: yesterday when I did not finish I realised that if I had chased the long words first (assuming Lickety is around) then I can look at them for lots of shorter ones inside. It is not chasing marks, its getting the wordlets.

Another missing word from a few grids ago - pitter (the thing I use to get the stones out of my cherries)
often i will snipe the big words as they are clued in the chog,than ping off as many 4 letter words as i can,that way you have your points and can just coast for the rest

Even the death of our online friends can leave a big void.... I've experienced it 4 times now, and I've only chatted online for about 7 years or so.
I am glad that we were able to know. I know that I will mourn him. How much pain we as parents can inflict on our children, and how much love if we are just a little smart.
There has just got to be enough love to go around. We need to make sure we give and receive bunches of love everyday.

oh my goodness -- so shocked to read about NB -- didn't even know he had been ill -- was it a tissue rejection issue? I hope he was able to reconcile with his parents. I know he had managed to keep in touch with his sister.

I hve just logged on and read about NB - what a terrible shame - he was such a nice young man - we were exchanging vegan recipes a couple of weeks ago when he was explaining that the anit-rejection drugs were having some pretty lousy side effects nincluding an inability to keep food of any kind down. So sad.

While it is heartwarming to see so many good wishes for Nancy Boy, shame on whoever betrayed the trust of Nancy Boy's partner. It was his prerogative to make this information public. No one else's. Now he's been robbed of that. And what is worse, rumors are now flying about what killed NB. He contracted malaria in August, in Korea. Mistreatment by his doctors caused complications that destroyed his liver. He received a transplant in mid December. Unfortunately, the anti-rejection drugs weakened his immune system. He caught glandular fever, which developed into pneumonia, which ended up killing him.
Nancy Boy's partner wanted to be the one to decide when to let all of the Babble community know. Now that has been taken away from him by a very inconsiderate person.
I sure hope he doesn't catch wind of any of these rumors. He's already suffered enough. :(

And yes. It started with Jesse getting Malaria Falciparum from a mosquito bite when he was in the ROK this past August.
Just to be clear, what I said about Nancy Boy's illness is all accurate. He was a very dear friend. I was there all along, online of course, as I do not live in the UK. But I know this all firsthand from live chat.
Which led to liver damage when he wasn't diagnosed and treated properly for a while. :(

Oh there were the blood transfusions too JC, that gave him an iron overdose. The chelation therapy made him violently ill.

But ultimately, it was his body rejecting the new liver and the pneumonia infection he contracted at the end, that caused his tragic demise. :(

Jesse seemed to be doing so well after that - and was released and went home for 17 days.

Being on immunosuppressants (anti rejection drugs), his body couldn't fight off the infection - even with the triple-antibiotic therapy adminstered via IV. He went into respiratory failure and was intubated. He lasted about three more days after that. :(

And then the chelation drugs. They can do a lot of damage too.

Im am so sorry to hear this sad News ,im only a lurker ,but Nancy Boy helped me a coupleof times,how heartless can a parent be not to say good by ,im truly sorry ,and my deepest Sympathy
this is really a winter of discontent, to say the least
such a sad thing my sympathy to all over Nancy Boy. I became mostly a lurker a couple years ago. Just to avoid controversial and often trivial conversations. But I know his story and I know that the Babble Community embraced and supported him. So sorry again to all. : (

she's getting on in years and tonight vomited, collapsed, and started oozing... my brother in law took her to an emergency vet and i'm waiting to hear more. my sister is VERY attached to her and called me sobbing on her way to the vet.
we all know that sad things happen and that death will come to us all, but somehow it never gets any less shocking.
I know, it's very hard losing a pet, friend, confidante.:(

I'll repeat, for those just coming on. I am a good friend of Jesse's (Nancy Boy). Jesse wanted to go to Korea last August to see his family. His doctor told him he would not need malaria protection, since he was Korean. He got bitten by a mosquito there, and got malaria. A particularly difficult strain to treat. It damaged his liver and caused severe weight loss and anemia. He nearly died. The hospital overdid the blood transfusions, and Jesse had to have chelation to get the excess iron out. This made him violently ill, and further damaged his liver. A transplant was needed. His partner, Frank, was found to be the same rare blood type, so he donated a portion of his liver. Unfortunately, the anti-rejection drugs lowered Jesse's immunity to infection, and he caught glandular fever. This became pneumonia. After a few days of being intubated, he died, very quietly, with Frank, his partner, by his side.

Very sorry to hear about Jesse's passing.
I spent the day babysitting my niece, cooking a curried yellow pea soup, and ate some bon-bons. I got together with my sister this past Saturday for our annual joint observance -- her birthday is on the 5th.
