So I see, crystalle :-)
NBT and 37 words found.
jill have you gotten any viruses from fb recently?
that seems pretty reasonable sleeping level...
LOL! So perfectly apt, that description! This teacher has had the fastest grade-return rate of **ANY** prof i've had in the last year and a half. Most professors take 10-14 days to return grades...
la 7
*looks at five distinct piles of books and random scattered papers covering half the living room* This can wait for another week or two...
actually la 6/7
oh, I just hate waiting like that!
thanks stid i got it
(late-ish) *flip*
LOL don't stay up too late, knut -- you may be younger than I am (we won't say by how much) but even you young'uns need some shut-eye to do your best!
fl 6
see you-all tomorrow! *special hugs for jill* *poof*
Thanks, I won't. My husband gets cranky when I stay up past 2. (And he notices.) I'll be in bed well before then. (Brain hurts after four hours of rigorous class debate on discussion boards anyway).
mlf -- just saw your question about fb and the answer is no viruses ever.
congrats jilll lol
bye stid and ty!

hi MPitt -- what's been happening?
phantom atlatl
MP, hoping it was a voluntary hiatus...
yes ru...our 20 yr old nephew was killed 12/15 then father in law died 1/21 bit of rough times for us here
oh wow.. I'm sorry MP.. that's too much loss
so sorry to hear, such loss!
if that wasn't enough mother in law fell at nephs funeral and broke pelvis in 3 places...is now in nurshing home
20 is awful...to lose someone

yeah, had them...
were you close to the nephew MP?
phantom scythe
thank you all...mother in law is doing well and we expect her to go into an independant living facility with some hired assistance...everyone is moving thru grieving healthily (gosh is that a word??) we have alot ahead to settle things but we are all supporting one another...we weren't super close but we still loved him and the pain was heavy but my sis in laws strong faith helped all of us.
I would think the loss of a child would be the hardest thing to cope with
funny how when people are in a crisis how they come together...just like in our 9/11 crisis as I'm sure all countries can relate to a similar situation...wish we were all that way all the time
yes ru...I feel the same...you expect those older than you to someday die but not those younger than you...
today's icon theme is appropriate
indeed it is, jilli
oh jilli what is that?
look at my icon, MPitt!
ok brb
we need a *day* for random acts of kindness? o.0 ... that tells a sad thing about society :o(

always a good way to live, MP :o)

River, I could tell you're a New Englander with that kind of clue.
How is your son doing?
we are neighbors gramma
he is doing great - back to the active kid he was - playing soccer and snowboarding - you would never know he went through all the trouble with his heart last year
You have the east coast and we have the west coast of NE. (meaning the Champlain Valley or the banana belt of Vt)
That's great. I'm happy for you both.

Good news about your boy River. Glad to hear it.

tried topsy AND mopsy! LOL
me too, une!
Hi Une!
hey, annie :-)
grabbing coffee -- back in a mo
Annie, does that mean we are the only ones old enough to know about Uncle Tom's Cabin? :-(
Hi, Babblers - Une your flower is beautiful!
and Molly, I actually read Uncle Tom's Cabin as a little girl - didn't understand most of it, but I do remember the scene on the icy river - it scared me
It scared me too..jbv
drat, phone
I grew up on the books my mother and aunts had read in the 20s and 30s when they were in school
Captains Courageous, Kidnapped, Treasure Island, Ivanhoe, etc. - I was much too young for most of them, but I can say I definitely read them
and I loved Edna Ferber's books too
yes, Edna Ferber too -
remember in those days there was no such thing as "kid lit" - we were probably better off for it (do I sound like a dinosaur?)
today's kids are not reading the classics at all -
No JBV, you actually sound very well read. All those books are classics. And no, today's kids have no clue about classics. Shame.
No they are not..Harry Potter is good reading but what about Dickens
Harry Potter is what they think of as great literature - okay off my soapbox
yes, great literature is my haven, Molly - I truly find inspiration and serenity in spending a few hours with the great minds of history
You two are hilarious, both coming up with Harry Potter at the same time.
and I did read Harry Potter, so I know of what I speak :)
I love the Harry Potter books. And they have their place in the great scheme of things. Just as Dickens, Melville and Ferber.
Hello my friends!
hi Mark
Hello JBV. How are you?
What defines a 'classic' is pretty shaky though. Dickens was never considered a classic writer in his day, I don't think, but more of a pulp novelist churning out the novels to keep his head above water. All perspective, I suppose..
fine, Mark - we're talking about books -
Awesome. One of my favorite topics. Who about?
well, join in - what are you reading these days?
very true, Silver
I just read Romeo And Juliet a second time, and also Othello.
timeless - I saw an interesting production of Romeo and Juliet here recently - Romeo was Black and Juliet was Hispanic and the entire dialogue was bilingual - the Capulets only spoke Spanish - it worked! (for a bilingual audience0
Wow.
that's so cool, JBV! Having read Romeo and Juliet in Spanish first (my mother tongue) and English later, it felt really magical reading it in English.
it was great, Silver - a local theater group here in New Brunswick, NJ
Cool. No one knows where i live.
you live here, Mark
Where is here?
I'd love to see an English production one day. Spanish productions are pretty good but tend to get a bit...flouncy ;)
Babble chat
Clever, clever, clever.
where are you Silver - if I may ask?
Hi again, all! Back briefly while finishing my tea -
Hey uu!
hi uusue
sure, JBV. I'm in Sevilla - Southern Spain.
oh, so beautiful! I was there once in my other life - lovely memories
LUCKY!
will be heading to New Jersey tonight, staying a little over 2 weeks - dorens and I will try to get together. anyone else interested? you can find my contact info through my profile (OK to email me at work)
Oh yes - lived here all my life and love it! :) Hoping to actually travel abroad for the first time in my life next year though - scary!
oh, I'd love to meet you uusue - Doren has my contact info -
Can i have a hint for either 8?
me 8/50 - it's a plural - souvenirs of Sevilla
scary exciting Silver - where are you going?
?
souvenirs in general, really, Mark, and the singular is also in the grid
I thought memoir, but that isn't in the puzzle.
hopefully to study at a partner university in England! Definitely exciting.
you're almost there Mark -
Mark, could also be me + a brand of mints
not quite, mark, but good start :-)
uusue I just emailed you
me + a brand of mints that go crazy when you put them in diet coke, I might add ;)
got it, jbv :-)
Thanks silver!
I went to Spain for the first time as an undergraduate - went back 6 more times!
ME TOO!
you're welcome :)
oh, you did?? how great - where did you go?
to silver, i meant.
I'm glad you enjoyed it enough to come back 6 times...I have resolved to go the states one day
first summer was Madrid, then a 2-week tour around the north - Santiago de Compostela, etc., second summer was Granada, Córdoba, Sevilla
after that it was mostly Madrid and environs
I had some friends there
I was a Spanish major
I have been to many places. States, Israel, Jordan, England, Dominican Republic, Turks and Cacaos...
and the Andromeda galaxy, apparently, mark - I am jealous! :-)
LOL
ok, computer is getting packed - bbl!!!
See ya uu
that's great, JBV! I would love to be able to travel like that - even around my own country, since I haven't seen much of it. Never really strayed far outside Andalusia.
and oops, I'd better go if I actually want a grade on the assignment that's due in today. See you later!
Bye, Silver, hasta pronto!
Bye Silver!
Just you and me, JBV.
I haven't been finding too many words, busy chatting
Yeah, i have 47 total.
68 here
OK JBV, sorry, i have to go now too. I have 2nd period coming. I will see you later though. BBL
bye Mark -

Hope you feel better Kap.
Did you get your neu roses for Valentine's Day, Crossy??
Some days I douse myself in Compassion. Other days Empathy, and then I have an expensive bottle of YTYGT?
i told them when they invited me i would not be the director of the center then and wouldn't have my feelings hurt if that meant they didn't want me but they said they wanted me any war
That is, "You think you got troubles?" the new scent designed by Lindsay Lohan.
*giggle* I mean way of course
lol kap i may need to get me some of that!
I'm pale and wan today.
lol,do not remind me judi.my son asked me "dad, how much does it cost to get married?" i told him" i do not know son,i am still paying" :)))
lol, kap!
YTYGT is the fragrance for people averse to those with AAMS...All About Me Syndrome.
(the scent, kap, not the pale and wan...)
halfway!
So I tell my students exactly which metric prefixes they need to know. Then I ask for about half of them on the test. Some of them get NONE of them right. Sigh.
congrats helena
Will we ever fin out who it IS all about?
find
lol keep trying them on metric uu,someday the states is going to have to join the rest of the planet;))
well, it is physics for engineers, they should know it. Harumpf.

Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity. Mental health is not just the absence of mental disorder. It is defined as a state of well-being in which every individual realizes his or her own potential, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to her or his community.
It is all about Sam Lapidus, formerly of Yonkers, lately of Boca Raton.
An excellent video.
We tried metric. Thought it was stupid and went back to normal.
(trying to find the link to BR's video)
uh Molly that is not what uu is talking about
ty ! got it.
it is in his profile uu
lol,br,someone whose cheese has slid off their cracker is most comfortable and serene with their state of being just before everything goes up in a big mushroom cloud
oh, thx, jmc!
btw wd helen (chog moving fast)

No JMC, that is what Cross was talking about.
must keep law practice alive in case there is no job.
Be well, jmc
oh i see that now molly -- nm
bye, jmc!!
thanks BR and don't be a stranger
*poof*
do what we do up here with the big jobs are in limbo, combine 2 or 3 mcjobs till something opens up
anyway, I am asking them things like how many hertz is one gigahertz - this is common to all systems (answer:10^9)
I put a band aid where it hertz
so,a gigahertz is a really, really big car rental place?;)))))
Gigahertz...that is a vehicle a band rents to haul their equipment...right?
uusue2-I believe that some engineers made mistakes confusing the metric on the Hubble telescope when it was first launched-you're in there trying to teach them!
REALLY BIG equipment, Molly :-)
or is that a megahertz? lol
confusion between English and metric units caused one of the Mars missions to crash :-(
the Hubble was a different problem, I think (but I would have to look it up, which I will do later...)
yeas remember when measuring out that rocket fuel, our old imperial gallon is 4.11 litres and the U.S gallon is 3.78;P
also, how many bytes in a terabyte - you can buy terabyte disk drives now... (answer: 10^12)
fireworks for me- must get back to work - have a great day everyone
Hello ladles a jellyspoons. How are we all?
yaa for river!!

howdy dwarf
Well done river!
hi, dwarf!

there are some teams out there with over 1000 members and we cannot get to 100? for shame!
done, crossy! (although my home computer is packed for travel at the moment, so not processing until I unpack later...)

uusuzanne@yahoo.com
ol,sent
tyvm!
and we will be glad to have you with us wv
and remember, you can turn this on and off as you wish,it does not need to be running non stop if you do not wish it and it will remember your place mid-fold
also, meme is totally a word, but babble won't take it
And a widely recognizable word too Helena.
hopefully dr_updates enable when he ships the new build
dr_g
can someone help with the third me4/5? I'm stuck
a note,something to eat,and a roast
got the cert, crossy, and printed and posted it :-)
very cool
I agree, helena! Tried it myself...
you can use the paint program to tweak the size and orientation before you print it off
3rd me 4/5 - people get together
oh wow, i'm hopeless! thanks teach
thanks others as well!
my printer does that, crossy :-)
cool:)
Huzzah. Fireworks!
yay, judi!
yaa for judi!!
congrats judi
There's some weirdo words in here today.
Hurshy's in the grid, too!
me 6/21 would qualify as one of those weird words.
,
so one of my students, in order to convert 50 cm to meters, converted cm and meters to inches...(and got it wrong)...sigh
I'M IN THE GRID?!?!?!
whoopeee!
"hursh" has been in before but i've never seen the full "hurshy" until today. how very exciting!
you are SPECIAL !!
yay, hurshy! Many of us have already found you :-)
now i feel like i have to apologize for the weirdo words that judi says have come along with me :)
And I certainly didn't mean to imply that you are weird, Hurshy.
i know. although i kind of am. :)
Ah, and now that Hursh is here...name that proper noun! Richie Cunningham's friend.
POTSY!
potsy! although i am not sure that is how he spelled it
Ding Judi, Ding Hursh! You can spell any way you want in this game.
no no, it's "the enable game" in which you can spell things any way you want. that's where you go around saying thing like "i saw a moal yesterday"
and I just saw a plone fly overhead, or maybe it was a plame
it flew ryte ovur you?
drekly overhed.
(usually i pull even my misspellings from the grid, lol)
ah, trying to grade exams so I pulled them out of my ear this time...
well, you know, it is the enable game, so, why should it matter?
gooooooooooooooooood evening fellow babblers xxx
hey, frog!
hello, frogface. welcome to my grid.
hi hurshy and sue
sue have u had your sleep???
not as much as i need, obviously :-)
it was you on the flight today wasnt it sue?
and grading exams fries my brain after a while
I leave for the airport in about an hour (starts grading even faster...)
exams in what subject?
lmao - well you make sure you rest up so you have a clear marking head
calculus-based university physics
sweet
They are SO much easier to grade if they do the problems RIGHT!!!
i hear ya.
lol r u a professer
I am indeed. Details in my profile.
nice i ust read
I am a student that often plays this in homeroom :)
im not very good though :/
we are all learning all the time, garde
yes, yes we are well said
yup, learn new things every day "the only stupid question is the one that is never asked"
i don't actually believe that. there are some other stupid questions, in my opinion. for instance, if i were to ask you, "so, crossy, are you from canada?", having known you for much time in the chog, and seeing your flag, and so on, i think one could fairly consider that a stupid question.
stupid questions are not always asked by stupid people, either. often, but not always.
name that proper noun! a brand of dog food
very true
unless they were born elsewhere and moved to canada of course, then they would be "from" somewhere else, and not from canada, so not a stupid question lol
hmmm too much to think about, MALFUNCTION
well frogface, it's the internet, so everyone could be lying about all that stuff anyway, but, you see what i mean.
v v true
ask watson the jeopardy playing computer
see hurshy, not a stupid question, yes i am in canada now but was not born here.i was born in the U.K
ok, so change the "from" in my original post to "in", and THEN it can be a stupid question.
knowledge gained is never stupid;)
i'm glad watson didn't do as well yesterday as the first day. the first day i thought, they need to reset his timing to the average time it takes a human to ring in, because they just could not get an answer in edgewise.
wastons sort of a jerk
if i type in psyche one more time im gonna go madd
how ironic, frog
computers are only as smart as those who programme them
lol
Alpo!
and apparently the people who programmed watson failed to tell him that toronto is in canada, not the US.
woof!
ding ding ding!
lol I need to watch this tonight
lol
Isn't the Jeopardy thing over?
I hurt my ribcage at wrestling practice thats why im not at school :O
yes, it was just 2 rounds, 3 days.
eh its on on demand
but garde, you might enjoy tonight's, as it's the beginning of the teen tournament. perhaps a cute gal will catch your eye.
fancy dictionary not letting me have mentos lol
were you trying for gardengnome ?
There is probably some of the Watson stuff on YouTube.
(yes, i am making the sexist assumption that as a wrestler, gardenom is a male - but statistically that IS very likely)
nooo my nickname is GardeNom
oh GardeNoms a girl
cvool, well anyways crossy must head to work.tc all and happy babbling
you would have to go and violate all the statistics.
bye bye cross
poof!
ya i went there
bye, crossy!
our ca=oach has no problem with it
i had a female friend in college who wrestled. so i haven't really got a problem with it either. i only object because you made me guess wrong.
he's cool we have 8 girls on our team
only 5 wrestle
*scratches head*
the other 3 manage the team
ah.
yup,
free random princess bride clue: "BUT you have to wait fifteen minutes for full po7 AND you shouldn't go in swimming after for what, an hour?" "yeah, a good hour."
Inconceivable!!
grading is done!!!! now I just have to record them, so that's 160 tests that don't need to fly to NJ and back!!!
well done sue!
hey all. I am working on my paper... not very hard yet, but getting there. I am excited to be now mostly "polishing" the writing. Have to expunge about 8 pages worth of material though. *sigh*
*Hands Stid Godiva as a reward*
mmmm. thanks Molly. and there is the timer for the beans that I am simmering on the stove. Will refill my tea while I am in the kitchen and then back into the paper. Down to 73 now! ((Molly)) *poof*
off to the airport!!!
Ladies and Gentlemen...STIDMAMA!! In and out of Babble chat faster than any other player. Give her a big round of applause!
*poof*
Safe travels Sue.
lol
phantom: flamenco
I was sure that flamenco was a word.
well you were right. it just isn't in this grid. :)
i suddenly feel all empty inside :( my husband just left for 2.5 days for a conference :(
hi flashman
vone
feen
evening all...
ah, if only.
Hello, All :-)
evening ZZ
I am sure your husband will buy you a nice present when he returns, Hurshy :-)
Hello, Fish :-)
HA! i am sure he won't. but, that's ok.
it would never have occurred to either of us that one would buy someone a present just because one had been away for a few days.
My dad would always buy a little present for my mother when ever he went to new towns etc.
my dad went on, i believe, only one business trip in my entire life. and he did bring me and my sister back some stuffed animals. but that was more because, being out from under the thumb of my mom, he was enabled to actually spend money on something.
darn, you can't spell hyssop with only one S.
Nice of him, out of curiosity did you keep the stuffed animal still or long lost?
i still have them - along with all my others - they are a pair of mice, hugging, with velcro paws to hold them together.
actually, when my dad was in the hospital and i was staying at my sister's house, her young son had her animals from that trip (a pair of hugging dogs) in his room, and i nearly started to cry.
That is really nice to hear..i still have my green koala bear from many years ago..my sisters children destroy there toys a few days after getting them.
i was one of those kids who secretly thought my stuffed animals came to life when i wasn't looking, so i treated them pretty nicely.
Bless you, Hurshy.
agreed
To be honest, i used to do that too..in fact i am sure many children thought that..lol
when i was VERY little, i had Puppy (so creatively named) and he got worn out over and over because i took him everywhere as a toddler. my mom just kept sewing new "skins" on him out of different fabrics, so he could live on.
LOL love it..all those memories in our little toys.
My Dad traveled a lot on business and he always brought me something back. It was exciting as a little kid to wonder what he would bring.
i had a kitty benie baby named scarlet when i was little, id remember what happened after that
i had a kitty benie baby named scarlet when i was little, id remember what happened after that
i had a kitty benie baby named scarlet when i was little, id remember what happened after that
Puppy and White Bear and the One-Eyed Cat all have a special place of their own because they are the most delicate. the rest of the animals are mostly together in a pet net. i was really the least creative toy namer ever, wasn't i?
Me too, Molly, i used to be annoyed if he just bought sweets back..he soon changed it to toys i could keep..lol
Called my koala bear, Bengo..no idea why..just did.
i am soo bored im watching vampire diaries i hate twillight
One eyed cat..oh no..what happened?
Then how about doing the babble grid, GardeNom :-)
i don't know, he was already one-eyed when i got him, i think. i think he was a rescue. i know white bear was. i had a quarter to spend at the school fair and i wanted a book, cinderella i think, but white bear was also that price, and he looked so forlorn, i bought him instead.
Ahh so you adopted him..sweet..bet he has given you many years of greatness, even with just one eye :-)
the what
i think the main thing the one-eyed cat has always given me is that he reminds me to have sympathy.
Which is a good thing, i feel.
of course!
YaY found both 8s :-)
garde - "the what" is those letters over there at left, that one makes words from - we often refer to it as the grid.
oh, i only have the me8, what's the other one?
st8
thanks, got it!
Cool.
hi all... hi zooz, hu6/33, Garde, Molly, Fish! :o)
Hello, DFM :-)
i don't think you have to refer to me by my stats, since i don't COUNT :)
it's different when it's peri
lol
hehe it's still fun to ;o)
Not seen you on at this time for a while, DFM..normally at the flip.
speaking of babble names, how on earth did you pick out dfmchfhf ??
I'm in class right now... usually don't enter chat
but I just had two exams and have another two coming up in an hour, babble chat is a nice break :o)
Ah i see..i will be quiet then..lol
babble CHAT is a nice break, zooz, not babble silence :)
ugh still only have 23 words
Keep going , GardeNom..you are doing well.
I pick dfmchfhf for everything... was so4 word (which I have forgotten) encrypted for a project on cryptography to demonstrate how unbreakable short texts are. (and it does seem quite unbreakable!) I've used it ever since... it is never taken on any site :o)
How do you feel the exams went, DFM, confident?
not really... woke up late (assignments late last night... ugh...), pretty sure I got 20/25 and about 60/75 on the exams.
the next two ... :oD one double-sided cheat sheet allowed
I printed 4 million digits of pi on mine :o3
i never did understand the allowed cheatsheet thing.
Good grief..4 million digits??
it's mostly for complex algorithms and formulae...
Too complex for me, i am not samrt like that..lol
i know. i just always liked memorizing crap like that, so i thought it was part of the fun, and having the cheat sheet spoiled it.
smart*
yeah, and that's the only thing on my cheatsheets... :o3 I'm doing it to be silly, I have all the algorithms and formulae memorised :o)
Thats good to hear then.
i think i love you, dfmchfhf.
the upcoming exams are grindy (long questions) but easy for me.
hehe I also bring an abacus for "calculator not allowed" exams... and for mo4 of my "calculator allowed" exams too
lol
ஜ۩۞۩ஜ FIREWORKS ஜ۩۞۩ஜ
i remember when i started college, for some reason they had us take this math placement test, even if we already had done the AP test and stuff. and i remember finishing really fast and looking around and being very scared by the fact that nobody else seemed to be even remotely close to finishing, because unlike high school, these were supposed to be all smart people. i kept checking and checking again for some pages of problems i had missed.
congrats zooz
I was placed in an advanced class already so didn't have to do the math placement test... but I know how it feels, my highschool exams all felt that way!
congrats zooz! :o)
wow, that is great, Hurshy!
but in high school, one was so used to it that one didn't feel scared.
and one of my CS exams were 3 hours... I finished in 17 minutes 31 seconds :oS
ffffffffast is ffffffffffffun
I was even delayed, my prof was joking with me and made me solve my rubik's cube I brought into the exam first! (took me 32 seconds... new record :oD)
(I wasn't so worried because there was someone beside me who finished in 17 minutes 2 seconds... >.<)
Ok i am surrounded by two very intelligent people..i am feeling..err dumb..lol
uhh... I fail art and al6 English?
i actually frightened a teacher once, i think. i had a psych class in high school, senior year, we did this instead of history. and we took IQ tests because we were learning about them. when i got everything right in i think about 1/3 of the time, my teacher got really really big eyes.
lol
hehe
well your written, English is excellent, DFM :-)
can I get a clue for the cy5?
cy + 2000lb
cy5 a neuron
my grammar is good... my composition, not so great.
Ok, nice to talk to you, Hurshy & DFM..but time for me to depart, Take care..and happy babbling, All :-)
and I tend to either overshoot word limits by 200% or undershoot them by 50%. :oS
bye zooz! :o)
thanks!
hello all
hurshy you are in the grid today :)
Heya Peri
dfm, what do you do to English?
periwinkle! u are here

Yes you can JBV. Hurshy, Hurshy, Hurshy. If it's not an "approved word" you can say it all you want. HURSHY.

pretty icon, Molly, did you take the picture?

hi all
i'm back, apologies to zooz and dfmchfhf if my abrupt departure was jarring - although i don't see either of you...
i feel like it's my birthday or something, having my name in the grid. it's so exciting.
I just saw that Hurshy. I tried to type your name but it won't take it
Hello Everybody. I started this AM before I had to go to work; and in less than 15 minutes I had NBT. How are you all doing with the grid today?
hey, hurshy, you should print out this grid and frame it!
hi Nef
it's slow going, Nef - haven't opened the list yet, have 21 left
I have 123 left; should be a breeze, right? ;-)
morning all, finding the last 1/3rd tough
hi lynxxx
well, I started early this morning - been at this all day in between other things - had lunch with a friend, errands, etc
hi lynxxx
I just came back on again. I believe you; it does seem slower now.
Some of the words in this grid are truly whacked. I would never have found them without some list help.
hi Molly,JBV and Nef
hi Boo
does anyone have all the E's - I only have em 5, en 6, and en 4
Hi Boo, JBV, and Molly
en5.12 medical type eeeww word - then em7.32 builds on it
hi Lynxxx
perhaps I should have said medical procedure - pre op
got it, thanks
hi Boo
sorry, that 7 was obviously en7 not em7
it was the eeeww that gave it away!
LOL, lynxxx! I've been totally confused since you first said em7! You should see all the crazy words I've tried! :-D
sorry Nef
NP, lynxxx. I'm just here to play and have fun;as a nurse I tried a lot of silly words!
emenemema and so on! ;-)
hi, all!
hi uusue
hi uusue
hi uusue
sitting in O'Hare airport waiting for my plane to arrive so I can leave...
how long have you been there?
about an hour all told
some of which I spent going through security (they closed the fancy scanner just as I got there so I had to have the full pat down)
that's not too bad....
Hey, everyone. :3
hi cgw
hi cgw

hi sue, where are you headed for in NJ? do you have a specific date yet with doren?

no there are 3 mo 5/12
they sound lovely, peri. Today, which is my first full day at home for several weeks, I am making a pinto bean chili. Love crock pots! LOL
Yep, you're right. I skipped right over the first one because it is a word that doesn't compute for me.
lol fair enough
I like black beans better than pintos, to be honest, but I have decided to use what I have for a while and stop waiting to cook until I have just the right ingredients
good idea stid
me too stid, I luv black beans
well, we'll see if it works peri -- I had another nasty scare with food allergies at a restaurant I used to be "safe" at. So I think I have to go back to cooking at home and not eating out at all.
Actually... there is ONE restaurant I know I am safe at, it's called "Bamboo" and it's right next to the Seattle Center. It's completely vegan, and though they use wheat it's not enough to bother me.
sorry to hear that stiddy, what was the food that caused the scare?
yikes, scary stid. Glad you're okay.
have you read the book Skinny Bitch and Skinny Bitch in the kitcen. written by two vegans
ne 5/12?
ne + not bottom
and plural
it almost has to have been an incidental exposure to beef when we ate dinner... I always order vegetarian dishes there and my family never orders beef, but by the time I woke up it was clear I was having a significant reaction. If I didn't take extra antihistamines at night for a different allergy I think it could have been really bad.
ne + the roof is the *** of your house

ugh i was using the wrong last letter.. ty!
soodles, I will share my gardening excitement and disappointment for today: we have had a very mild winter, which means the bulbs are coming up quicker than normal. Which had me all happy and excited because I have some lovely pink hyacinths Mother gave me with the heavenliest scent. And there are some tiny daffodils that are scattered about that show up like jewels in an emerald lawn.
yw
ohhhh, stid, how lovely! and what a great description!
our bulbs are just beginning to poke their leaves through the soil
primroses are beginning to flower though and look pretty, and snowdrops and hellebores look beautiful
40 left
Soodle is here! Soodle pass the po6/21 lass.
today I took a break from the paper writing and found that baby slugs (like naked snails) have taken advantage of the mild winter and my distraction with school to enjoy the open bar. Their favorite? my pink hyacinths!!! which will survive but might not now bloom after all. *sad mama look*
I fear we will not see bulbs for another month and a half, if then....
Stid - that sounds just wonderful :-). The snowdrops are out here, and the daffodils are about 3- 4 inches above the ground. OH! a very heartfelt "ROLL ON SPRING"
SO... I put out the slug bait (which gets molluscs and fish but doesn't hurt anything else) this afternoon and am hoping the daffodils will at least survive.
speaking of hyacinths.. it's patricia routledge's birthday!
I don't have snowdrops yet... that's on the plan for next fall -- snowdrops, and replace the crocuses that got eaten last year!
your daffodils are further out of the ground than mine stid - must be warmer that 100 miles or so west :-)
is it, cosdem!? happy birthday to her! LOVE her!
is it really? how neat! I so enjoyed her in Keeping up Appearances
we need a candlelit supper in her honor tonight
I had planted quite a lot of muscarii a few years back, but it seems to have vanished. not sure who ate it....
the trouble with the slug bait getting the molluscs is that the birds eat the molluscs, sometimes when they are full of bait but before they die, and the birds get poisoned too
she is a hoot, that hyacinth!
:-D well, I planted them in honor of my great-great-great grandfather who was born in merthyr tydfil (but who was likely actually Irish). And I love their bright color on grey days.
no, I use something that is not toxic to birds. It
I take a tour of the garden, armed with a sharp knife, morning and evening, once the slugs and snaiols start getting active
It's called "Sluggo" and it's basically an iron tablet.
glad to hear your slug bait is non toxic stid
slugs hate copper, isn't that right? they can't crawl across it, or something like that?
Our garden is about half an acre....
i dug a pond which now has agreat frog population and my slug and snail problems are much reduced
Those early spring bulbs are very very hardy... they might just survive the slugs. I have always found that sprinkling salt on slugs is a satisfactory disposal method...
copper works well -- but it needs to be kept clean and... see the size of the garden. Prohibitive cost in large places
slugs can't crawl across copper because it sets up an electric reaction - maybe their bodies complete a curcuit?
We have frogs, which I love -- and snakes will be out in a couple more months (which I also love).
ewww snakes... i run away screamingat the sight of garden snakes
my garden is only a fifth of an acre - which is sizeable for the UK
I see Soodle has ignored my request and is hogging all the po6/21. Greedy Soodle. : (
Give me slugs instead of frogs anyday. I have a phobia aboujt cold-blooded creatures.......
hmph. garter snakes are sweet little guys. They make a soft sound like a distant waterfall when they move through dry leaves.
i need some po6 too
yes i know. i'm gay. :)
that's a nice size glantarell!
Bless St Patrick!!! No snakes here!!!
oh soode, when your garden has teensy weensy cute little frogs less than an inch long it is wonderful LOL
??? *wonders where that last comment cos made came from*
I hope my pond inhabitants have survived out there...I had a corner of the pond clear with a heater, but it blew after the last storm, and thus the pond has been frozen over for a while now. i always lose a few fish each winter, and hope for a good survival rate comes from
cause im scared of snakes :P
of course, I grew up in Virginia where you had to watch your step walking even in the city... so I understand people who aren't so fond of snakes.
If your pond is more than 2 feet deep they should survive pretty well trifioso
i put a plastic ball in my pond at the beginning of winter - itn helps stop it freezing complely
Glan, a neighbour of mine brews the stuff.... Locals rub it onto racehorses, greyhounds arthritic limbs etc. Only the very brave would acutally drink the stuff!
*grins at cos* way to play to stereotypes, dude! how do you feel about spiders? *dangles lovely orb spider in front of monitor*
frogs and newts burrow deep into the mud at the bottom of pomnds - do you aheb newst in the US and Ireland?
lol i once had to call maintenance in my old apartment to come killa spider for me
i am very brave soodle!
or foolish!
yes, there are some fine newts here.
the ball thing should work, but given that there is also a 2' layer of snow on top.....
scrape the snow off LOL
We have some really big ones in a local beaver pond -- orange ones. And occasional ones in the garden, but it's mostly dry.
frogs or newts? we have greater crested newts - pretty and spotty!
the only time I ever saw a toad (warts n all) was in the UK. It was horrible!
I like toads! sweet little guys, eating mozzies all day...
we have ordinary toads and natterjacks in Wales - Natterjacks are very rare and mainly live in the sand dunes along the north Wales coast
I am happy to ignore spiders as long as they return the favour
earwigs, however, are another matter entirely - hideous little things LOL
clue for en 5 please
We also have bats... *eye of newt and wing of bat, snakes and spiders -- where it's at*
Thank you, everybody. I am off to bed now, and am guaranteed to dream about toads, snakes and frogs. Thank you all again (:-P_
internal cleansing of your nether regions
what is a natterjack? amphbian or reptile?
sweet dreams soodles! LOL
it is a type of tod

night night soodles
we have bats in our roof - little ones called pipistrelles - there are about 5 other kinds in the UK but they are all getting rarer and rarer
hm. I shall look that up. The phone call this time was reminding me of a dentist appointment. I canceled and will reschedule in June when I have more time.
Glan- what a lovely clue. Will fit into my dreams perfectly!!!! With that I will bid you all adeiu, or to Stidmama - Oiche mhaith!! Poof
there are a few pics of natterjacks at wikipedia, cute little guys!
I love our quirky intercontinental conversations.
welsh words in the grid are driving me nuts - afal (apple) atal (stop/prevent) and a few others
i love our quirky intercontinental conversations too - and ou never know what the topic is going to be LOL
there is a Coast Salish word for house in the grid: 'al'al which I keep trying...
Coast salish?
Coast Salish is a Native American language spoken by Pacific Northwest tribes (mostly ocean-going tribes), related to the inland Salishan languages

hi stid. I'm wondering if I can learn a smattering of French for tomorrow AM. Nothing fancy; just a few medical phrases. I have a client coming to her New OB clinic appt. and just wanted her to feel welcome. (I do have an interpreter ordered too, though)
a lot of people in the local area haven't heard of the languages either, Glantarell -- it's a hidden part of U.S. history that indigenous peoples aren't usually well covered.
bonjour madame would be a good start ;-)
I am sure you can, Nef -- Une was around here a little while ago.
sorry didnt notice po7/32 can i have clue pls lol xxx

yep. language distribution and dialect mutations are the interesting bits!
so I really want to get through the whole paper just once today. I am past the halfway point. back later to get my last 33.
**Hugs and choclits and whisky for all** *poof*
Oh. I guess I'll go to a listening site to get it right. But I appreciate the help. I once asked a Russian lady how to say something; then wrote down what she said in my own interpretation of HOW she said it. SHe looked at it, took my pen away and then wrote it in Russian (which made no sense to me at all!)

Perhaps some respect...Oh mighty overlord...when might we minions expect to worship you at your new and improved venue? We eagerly await your genius.

well, we could do with something to bring his average down
I'd love to hitch a ride to DC -
or at least Dr God does not get ranked
time to go ... later, gators
I don't know hurshy - it's just the phonetic spelling of Hershey (chocolate) that is in the grid after some gave 'colostomy bag' as a clue

i have said that to welki before
*fret fret fret*
don't fret. I've gone back and re-read that and can't find any offensive remarks

so how is life treating you these days?
oh okay no job on the horizon but still working at this one so i am okay
jmc; there will be a job soon for you. When are you finished there?
not till this summer so i am getting my worry in early to beat the last minute rush
oops *runs to the pb*
LOL! You know; I took a job (before this one) that I thought would be perfect. I couldn't stand it and quit after 10 months. This job was NOT what I had planned for; I felt I wasn't exzperienced in it at all; but when it came down to it it was the only offer I got. And I absolutely LOVE it
you never know
so how is DH?
you really don't know.
He is well; just has so** cabin fever these days. Right now I have to put in extra hours and so he's home al5 a lot; so he's finally using some other transportation to things he has to go to
it is good he is using other transportaion
okay i must be going
bbl
he qualifies for Metro Mobility (it's for handicapped) and has used it twice this week; plus he finally asked a couple of friends for rides to men's meetings
by Dr God! ;-)
bye all
*poof*
bye, jmc
Mr. Nef is sprouting some wings. Good for him.
it takes a huge load off my shoulders, Molly. I've never been a person who likes to run around (shopping, going places and doing a lot of stuff after work); so this really helps
I'm with you Nef. I don't like to do anything after work. Except fix dinner, clean the kitchen and make sure we have clean clothes for the next day. I'm up at 5:30AM on work days, so running around after work is not on my hit parade.
exactly, Molly!
DH loves to grocery shop. I'd like to just drop him off at the grocery store and have him call when he's done so I could pick him up; but that isn't what he wants anymore. He wants me along-- then he takes off and I lose him in the store!
I'm a solo shopper. I get it done a lot faster if I don't have someone with me.
Since my OTJ injury I can't be on my feet too long. Grocery shopping is NOT my idea of a good time!
down to 30 now; need a short break for more tea.
Good evening Friends!
hi car.ee How are you?
Hi Nef! I have had a funky kind of day...but it is almost bedtime! Yeah!
How are you?
Hi Car, it's good when funky kind of days are almost over.
I'm fine. How are you doing? I haven't seen you here for a while (I've been on at weird times I think --that and also short times
I usually on in the morning now. Glad to know you are well.
your icon is adoreable!
TY! My boys!
they are so cute! Especially when sleeping I bet! :-)
Yup!
I think it's time for me to vamoose. I'm feeling invisible here tonight.
Oh Molly! I am sorry! I am glad you are here!
Why are you feeling invisible, Molly? Just chime in! (Often people don''t respond to a po4 if chatting with another
Clue for to 6/21 please?
sorry, don't have it yet but will look
I am stuck on the middle of the TO's.
Got it....heavy weight + vowel + not you but **
Got em all!
thanks for that clue. I kept going down instead of up
FIREWORKS!!!
I am here to clue for a few minutes if anyone needs it!
YAY, car.eeyore!!!! WTG!!!!
I listed a bit ago and am amazed at some of these words
I am watching Winter Wipeout with the boys...this show makes me roll with laughter!
what is it about? (Never heard of it)
It is an ass kicking obstacle course. It is like the Japanese show, Most Extreme Challenge.
Literally, we are laughing at people fall and trip and contort their bodies into very unnatural positions...all in good fun of course!
okay. Doesn't sound like something I'd like. I caught one of those Japanese game shows on** and wondered how they could do that without getting sued
Hi, all! I am in New Jersey!
Oh Good UU! Glad you arrived safely!
Glad you made it, uusue! How was the flight?
Flight was good; left late but arrived early. And I was on the airline where all my miles are, so got upgraded to first class, and didn't have to pay extra to check my bag :-)
Sweet!
Got to my dad's house ok; will settle in and go over to see him tomorrow.
NICE!
and maybe I can even finish the grid :-)
I am all done UU, so let me know if you need any clues.
does he know you're coming, uusue? Last time I talked with you he wouldn't answer the phone
Hello Babblers
Hello wht!
Oh yes, it turned out that he'd moved to the other bed in his room (to be near the window) so had a different phone number but they wouldn't give it to me without his permission.
hi wht
He's really happy that I'm here.
Hi, wht!
that's good. Where's his wife now?
In Ann Arbor; she left yesterday, still talking about divorce :-(
I'm hoping once she gets some rest, and is in a situation where she is being taken care of, she will reconsider, but maybe not.
The whole thing is so upsetting...I can't imagine how you are all handling it.
that's too bad.... do you talk with her kids at all?
Anyway, dad is a lot more mad than despondent, which is good, and his friends have been coming around, which is also good. And physically he's been doing really well, and can't wait to get home!
that's good news!
Yes, she still likes me a lot, and I've been on the phone with her son frequently (I'm kind of the go-between at the moment)
Well that is good then.
Howdy, Babblers. Just to confirm, that was *not* me in the chat log an hour ago. But it was someone logged in as me (seemingly accidentally). No clue how that happened. If it happens again, please drop me an email or FB message. Thanks.
Hello Dr. God!!!
now, are you SURE you are the "right" Dr_God?
My goodness!
hi, dr_god!!!
Phew! That's a relief Dr. G :)
I didn't realize we had a pantheon of Dr_Gods
this is quite interesting. I wonder how that happened?
lol, angela!
I wasn't here when it happened...what was said?
he said something about the game "assigning him that name?
nothing bad, car.ee. It was jsut a bt confusing
I can imagine!
(kind of like my typing just now) :-/
When you log in, you're given your ID number, and it's used for everything while you're on the site. Somehow he got assigned the mighty ID #1, which is reserved for yours truly. ;) No clue how it happened.
My husband was laughing at me - couldn't believe it was weirding me out so much! lol!
WOW!! You are going to have to make it tougher for a person to use that then!
I guess having been here for almost 6 years, when you see the Docta and it turns out not to be the Docta - freaks you out a bit! ;)
At least he/she/it entered 76 words for me. :)
yep! It sure does!
I am having the best time....my son's homework...to give 100 hugs and check them off! He is all snuggy & warm and fresh out of the tub....I am loving this!
Woo-Hoo Dr_!!!
So I asked the imposter if you ever give the grid an extra spin if you don't like the way the letters came out. NOw I'm asking the "Real you!
Sounds wonderful, car!
It is! He is a wonderful hugger!
that's quite a nice homework assignment, car.ee What class is it for?
To celebrate 100 days of kindergarten!
yay - now a real answer to the question, Nef!
Nef- The grid is completely random every day. I have no control over it.
Very interesting. Especially when you consider the grid after the news about NB passing....
How so Nef?
there were several words in the grid that day... Korea, nancy, etc (not that they were "acceptable" WORDS;
OMG!!! I didn't realize that! How funky!
there were quite a number that commented on it that day
done with paper writing for today. Now I just need to read one more article for class tomorrow...
I have missed a couple of days here and there.
Hello Stid!
*waves to Dr. G*
THAT's why I had to ask my question of Dr_God
very cool, Nef...and bizarre.
I can see why, Nef...but I like to think of something like that as karma
...and I use "karma" only for lack of finding a better word.
Were people upset or glad to have the rememberance?
I agree, car.ee; there was something going on
it didn't seem to upset people; but many saw them
To me, if it was truly unintentional, that would have been so awesome...a feeling like NB was still here.
random means ... unintentional -- I like to think of such synchronistic events as the balance of the universe showing its face.
amen stid :)
Gives me goodsebumps!
Random seems to describe a number of words in today's grid.
I keep thinking about Nancy Boy at least a couple times a day, as I did before. Each time, it catches me off guard, but a little less as time goes on.
LOL wht! so true!
I don't think I like this face of the universe.
very true, stid. (I'm trying to find that grid in the archives now)
Does anyone have a clue for the en7?
I think of NB often too. Frank did such lovely drawings of his gentle face
en + vowel + not pa + Brit goodbye
didn't know there was en 7 ... *looking*
hey bugs ((hugs bugs))
what a peculiar word...
I don't know that there is, but Lickety says so.
great clue car!
thanks for that clue!
YVW!
Hugs back at ya stid. Just arrived
hiya! how's the grid?
ty car. Didn't see your clue for a moment.
(((FEATHER))) it's lovely. So easy and delightful.
Hi feather. Haven't seen you for a while.
Come on in... *beckons from the far end* want to race?
Hi Feather!
i lurk, wht!
hi all. actually car.. that is british slang for thanks, not goodbye (i've made the same mistake in the past and was corrected - is how i know)
hmmm, depends on how "far" the far end is!
down to 29 feather, but have to get up and stretch my legs for a while.
Oh, OK Dorens! TY for the correction...don't want to offend anyone!
where you at?
hey doren!
ha, haven't started yet
don't think anyone would take offense... we are all (well mostly) friendly here, right?
Hi, Doren! I am in NJ!!
hi stid... am off to FL tomorrow ridiculously early
welcome sue
You never know...on any given day...who will get bent over something....
gee whiz! mid-winter break, doren?
yes we are. Hi feather, Dorens, and Bugs
SUE! you made it! *mama sigh of relief*
Car.ee the grid I was talking about is for Feb. 9th
okay, I am now at 28. will be back in a little while, I am STARVING and the chili is almost done! *micro poof*
actually car, they are fairly predictable. yes stid... visitng with my old friend who has a condo down there on the beach, and all we will do is read, walk on the beach, float in the ocean, and drink wine
laters stid
yes, it was a good trip, stid
I am off to bed now, but I will give it a look tomorrow when I have more time.
OH Dorens! It sounds heavenly!

hi stid :)
the chili I made is actually pretty good. except tom said it wasn't spicy enough and added chili peppers. . Now it is definitely spicy enough!!!
I was thinking vanilla, but I might be able to find some mint chocolate chip here in the freezer.
en6?
Put in a cy4,7
thx, wht!
thx wht
that was my last E word!
sorry feather -- 27 now
OK. I need rh6,27 for fireworks. Any clues?
hmm, i'm feeling like there are a lot of P and S words that are staring me in the face
there is a lot of P in the puzzle...
it's ok stid!
limericks ***me + weight
a lot of the P are normal, just a little unused
good because suddenly (and I don't remember even doing it) I am at 25...
thx, shirlockc!
oooh. thanks shirlock!
lol, i'm at 74. don't wait for me.
sue, may I ask your professional advice on teaching physics?
po7/44?
Sure, stid!
ty shir. I could have sworn that I had tried that.
But fireworks now
yay, wht!
YAY wht!!!
yay wht!
okay, I am planning a unit on measurement of force and motion -- for 4th/5th grade (this is for my coursework, no actual children will be traumatized by it yet)
ok...
I am wondering if I should focus on the basic concepts of force (which is pretty exciting) or if delving deeply into measurement is more logical as a starting point.
make the vector arrow stick in the wall, stid. that amused the crap out of me as a kid.
As a student, I would think you would want to start with what is exciting to get them hooked and then fill in the measurement stuff.
I would say forces first; they can worry about measurement once they have something interesting to measure.
at that age, they won't be able to calculate a lot I know, but I know that in middle school a lot of kids are still really unclear about what gets measured and why
hi all. I need a clue for en 6 please
brb
ah. Thank you so much, all! that helps me get going and I can figure it out from here I think...
en + c4
Boobear, it was clued at 7:51
force it is, then. first question to the kids: how hard would it be for you to push me around the gym on a scooter; how hard would it be for you to push a classmate; how hard would you have to push to get a schoolbus moving? *wicked mama grin* followed by actual experimentation... (not!)
I don't see it Bugsaw
can you put two kids on the scooter? might be fun to see how much harder it is to push two than one
boo: EN + a kind of bump in your body...
the scooters I have seen are pretty small, but I could possibly borrow somebody's long skateboard.
or maybe a wagon, less chance of falling off
That leads right into measurement. How do you measure the force. What are the units, etc.
true, safety is an issue.
we were tasked to measure something in school once, and not given standard units; we had to make our own.
so we measured by the length of a classmate, laying flat on the floor.
down to my last 8!
at 5th grade, the kids will likely be ready to understand that how hard to push depends on the mass of something; I am working through how to help them discover the "speed" element (acceleration might be rough).
go sue go!
I am at 22, waiting for feather.
The Mass Ave bridge between Cambridge and Boston is measured in smoots.
po
The smoot being the height of a certain MIT undergrad.
I am considering doing something like that, jes. First to let them measure with anything, and then introduce the reason for SI when they try to compare their measurements.
smoots????
how long is a SMOOT?
heh. i have 104 left!
go jes go!!
ok, getting the list early, at 73
HA. I got a to 6 just by thinking about sound...
It is 5 feet something. He was a short undergrad.
21 feathery....
clue for en 7 please
that's just funny, wht!
yes, smoot is famous in physics texts :-)
en5 a anal waterbath + british goodbye
IIRC the bridge is some number of smoots and an ear.
hello ruru, what a great entry!
are the am 5 and 6 related to the am4?
smoot! the bridge to harvard is measured in smoots!
The fraternity that did it refreshes the smoot marks every year.
maybe too graphic of a clue..lol
thanks, ruru
I thought it was a harvard grad, wht, and he was very tall?
second al6 please?
Actually, the bridge goes to MIT.
I thought smoots were cereal
yes, that is what we are discussing, I think...
just what I was thinking, wht! :-)
al 6 ... nearly there feather
I thought they were small blue gnome-like critters, actually...
sheesh, slap me with a cod.
brb Mother's home!
*whack*
am 5 and 6??
whoops - you are right, wht, and I am a doof. MIT it is: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smoot

I had to do it feather ..just for the halibut
this grid is hard
hell of it.. sorry
ty
careful, or i'm going to go find the biggest, most frozen fish i can get, and smack you upside the head with it!
ruru, admit that the puns are the sole reason you are here.
lol

mmmmmm - tasty phantom
hi book
good one, gwen!
So Mother's contribution to our conversation was to suggest asking the students how a car knows to switch from miles to kilometers when going from the U.S. to Canada... *wicked mama teacher grin*
that is evil, stiddy! lol
*grin* I know! It's a perfect "bonus" question though...
i'm thinking of upgrading my icon to a picture the "new" dalek. i hear some fans don't like 'em LOL
Do you give extra credit if the answer makes you laugh?
how are classes going, stid?
evening all
hi dan, hi jes
ps, 5/12 help please
well, I spent ALL day working on the master's paper. I have the length down far enough, need to tighten up the citations and get the references pulled together properly. Mother will help me this weekend with minor editing and revisions, and then I will spend some time planning the 10 minute presentation I have to give.
howdy, dawg
hey dan! I don't have that yet flashman
ps+ three vowels, flash
ps + a bunch of vowes
vowels, even
thanks LBD!
what's the paper on, stid?
thank you!!
I have two weeks to finish polishing the paper, and almost three to have the presentation ready. And of course several other tasks to complete for the quarter.
I hate the paper topic. It's about how access to technology affects digital literacy and thus academic use.
ponte not accepted. enable needs to get so4 fasion sense.
fashion sense
ahhh, well there are some aspects to that topic that would be relevent for people with learning disabilities, such as the talking software.
hey, stid, my car switches from miles to kilometers with the push of a button :-)
true, TO. I was thinking a nice crisp look with line and silk?
hmm.ponte with linen and silk...
except that isn't what I explored -- it's about how out-of-school access and experience affect instructional considerations in the classroom; do I need to teach students how to do internet research, or can I assign the research and spend class time talking about expository writing?
that's pretty cool, sue! old-fashioned mechanical odometers can't do that.
15 now feather... where are you? *looks back to find feather*
got the last A word. 14.
back! just had a snack, ready to go again. 53 left.

he's taken lately to asking for something he really wants, but thinks i might say no to, such as chocolate at 6am, and putting a huge cheesy grin on his face after asking. so freaking hard to resist laughing!
but a cute chee baw!
rofl too cute, feather!

Good evening to my fellow babblers! How is everyone?
By the way, congratulations to all the finishers! YAY!
hello min!
(kje, yahoo)
Hello, Minveryork. I am fine. How is your onion?
hi min!
k
How's my onion?Ok,I guess.How is yours BabbleRabble
Here is a rhyme I just made up: I hate double negatives, I really do! They’re wrong to say for me and you. A double negative is not good English. They should go away, I really do wish. Every time I hear one, I want to scream. It isn’t proper grammar, do you know what I mean? So please people, don’t use them anymore. Kick those double negatives out the door!
cute min!
hello, br.
I am not babbling tonight so I am useless. Signing off.
Goodnight to my fellow babblers! I'll see you tomorrow
good night, min!
po7/32 pls?
ends in adolescent temple
lol i hate double negatives as well...yea...right! lol
a case where 2 posatives are indeed a negative
ty, do you have the 7/44?
ty and good night all!
this grid is failing to enthrall me
back again
howdy jes;))
how goes, crossy?
it goes,a fine case of going with the flow
good, good. you need a cute little dog to keep you company, right? :D
lol,we are cat people and have 2 rescue litty cats
she gets along with cats too
lol,i do not need your dog;) sorry
yah. me either... i am getting frustrated with how long it's been and nobody has had any interest in her
how many puppies you trying to find an home for?
just the one. same one i've had since Thanksgiving.
I don't have a kennel, i just foster individuals in home...
lol,not a puppy anymore
no, she's a senior
probably 9 years old or so
everybody wants puppies though :(
hard to find a homre at that age,it is the age when things start to go wrong and vet bills get expensive
yeah, but i've already DONE the expensive stuff. now she just needs a house.
here, just x-rays and blood work is 400 dollars
what breed?
beagle/lab. 30 pounds, yellow with white feet.
i've done blood work on her, and a dental cleaning and extracted 2 fractured teeth. vaccinated and microchipped.
lab= bad hips + hip displaysia=$$$ [ast 10 years of age and the max expeted is 14
will be a hard sell i am afraid
she's only half the size of a lab, mixed breeds live longer, hip problems and other arthritis issues tend to be worst in bigger dogs and overweight dogs--she's not really high profile for that
i love labs, but they are renouned for bad hips
ahh
i hope myou find a lifetime home for her
and she doesn't have the beagle personality things either... she will not leave the yard, apparently got none of that hound-dog desire to see the next county over.
yes, beagles =ear infections up the wazoo
labs too. but hers are clean.
and the hound dog yowling...
'course, i haven't taken her swimming, either.
dougs are a tough thing, have to be a perfect mach to her human
barks when she wants out to pee. have heard no howling at all.
i had a cock-a-poo, smart as a whip..picked up a parasite off the dew mon the morning grass in our fields..killed her in the end
so you have a vacancy for a dog :D
massive infections..was not good at all
sounds no fun
lol, good try jess,we are a cat family now
hi again.
howdy nef
lolo, and besides, with shipping a pet over the border and quarrantine..thing would be full of kennel cough and flleas..i will stick with cats for now
don't have to quarantine to get from US to canada, just a health certificate. and i know a vet that could write one of those. :)
crossy, the dog we have now is a schiz-poo (or however it's spelled) We got him when he was 8; we've had him for 4 years now. He was on his way to being put down because of bad behavior and previous owner had no time for him. He's really been a nice dog for us. Dumber than dirt, cute as can be (has always gotten by on his looks); but it's nice not dealing with puppies
i love your fevour, but no thank you
well i have an early day tomorrow,so goodnight all and happy babbling
poof!
nite!
sleep sweet
I take it no one else feels the way we do, jes?
nah, crossy's got rescues too.
he just doesn't want THIS rescue...
seems that nobody does, though.
does this dog have problems? I'm allergic to animals that shed; this dog doesn't shed (but our daughter's cat does; and she lives here now
she's old, is really her only problem.
nobody wants to adopt an older dog, they all want pups.
6 years?
probably 9 ish. guessing; she was a sheriff's impound, so we don't have any history on her.
ahh. Well, we knew that J.C. was 8 when we got him
but she walks well on a leash, likes car rides (and does not crawl into your lap or try to steal food off the front seat), gets along with dogs and cats, doesn't chase horses, loves to follow the tractor around.
is obviously a dog someone's trained and put time into
poor dog
she looks sad
but nobody came to claim her. it's a dirty shame. but i don't need another permanent dog (i already have 2) and as long as i have her, i can't bring home other fosters.
just don't have the space...
she'd be great for an older person. Have you thought about having her in a nursing home (a therapy pet?)
the nursing home here already has 2 cats and 4 budgies... they allow dogs to visit, but don't want any permanent ones.
really? Wow. Most of the nursing homes here have a dog or 2 on staff too
we're a pretty small town. there's only one person there who has to organize and be responsible for the home's pets and all the visiting pets.
have you asked at any other nursing home or rehab centers? Dogs seem to encourage the elderly to be more active
i haven't, but there aren't any others very nearby... guess i could just cold-call some down in spokie.
oh, my! I was in bed; got up to check something and got back online "for just a minute!" Now look at the time!
hah! sorry, didn't mean to drag you away from your pillow
if she's a gentle dog, she might do well there. But I do need to get to bedbecause I've got to be up in 7 hours.
Good Night, jes. Good luck!
go sleep! good dreams
rh6,27?
May I please have a clue for po5-14? Thanks
p+o4 word
jump on something playfully, missing a vowel from the middle
Thanks much, jesdraggon.
do you have the rh6?
Yes, thanks, jes.
could you clue it? :D
nm, monkeys found it
Oh, sorry, jes, looked away for a minute.....sorry.
I'd take the rh6 if you're offering...
rh + sometimes vowel + weight.
augh. how to clue it, because it makes no sense...
it's a greek drinking horn
yeah, what gapeach said
It's a new one to me too. lol
gonna go make a cup of cocoa. back to clue more if you need in a few :)
Make one for me too, please...Sounds good.
May I please have a clue for cy5-16? Thanks
NM, found it.
thanks!
yw
st5-10 the 1st and to6-21 to finish please....thanks
found the st-5....need only the to6-21...thanks
back.
to4 meaning sound + personal pronoun
NM.... fireworks. Thanks for all the help. See y'all at the flip.
Oh, yes, thanks, jesdraggon.
welcome
Oh, jesdraggon, I just read your profile.....I admire you so much. I have two lovely little "rescued" dogs. Wish there were more people in the world to help these and other wonderful animals.
need a third? I've had Holly since Thanksgiving and am getting really frustrated with trying to find her a home. nobody has expressed interest at all...
Wish I could, jes, I'm in a wheelchair now and taking care of these two are all I can adequately care for (I have a neighbor who does the scooping for me). Where in the country do you live, if I may ask?
washington state
far far away from georgia...
Yes, 'tis. Are there any Humane Societies there? Or close by?
bout 50 miles away, and they don't take animals from out of county (which i am)
Drats! You know, jes, it may be that she is supposed to be with you at this time.....at least I've found that to be true for me. Just keep on doing what you're doing and see what happens.
the problem is, i already have 2 permanent dogs (and 4 cats) so while i have her, i can't bring home other fosters... no time/space. so until she gets adopted out, i can't take on other critters that need more immediate help.
she's all up on everything she needs now, except a home...
Remember when I said I was going to bed? (OK, me neither). I lied. I am still up, not easy to sleep in a strange place (even if it is my dad's house). Put my dad's story in my profile in case anyone is interested.
Have you tried putting her picture in Vet offices and even grocery or drug stores....anything to get the word....maybe a mailman...will try to think of more ideas.
she's on petfinder, adoptapet, her picture is posted at the clinic where i work, and she spent last saturday at PetSmart for an adoption event.
i've been talking to anybody that'll listen about her since December...
jes, I wish I could help! But we already have two rescue cats (who hate each other) and a rescue dog (who doesn't get along with other dogs much); I think one more dog would create a black hole or something. I do wish you luck, and if I think of anyone that I know in WA I will certainly tell them about Holly!
thanks, uusue
You've certainly covered all the bases that come to my mind right away, though!
sorry you can't sleep
yah, eventually I will :-)
uusue2, I read your profile. You certainly do have your hands full right now.....tough making those decisions. (lovely picture, house and all). I'll keep you and your family in my prayers.
talking about divorce over health issues? that's rough.
Jes, just keep on loving her and things will work out, I don't claim to know how but they do. You and your family (human or other animals) will be in my prayers too.
thanks, ga
thx, ga and jes. It's tough all around; my stepmom is failing, and is exhausted. I am hoping that once she gets some rest, and is in a place where someone is taking care of her, that she will come around. But still, she wants to be with her children, and my dad doesn't, so I don't know that they'll get back together again. We'll just have to see.
