no the trip over was tough - ferry to Van was full of students, obviously on a school trip
waiting room to board ferry was wall to wall people and stood there for at least half hour
standing for any time is hard but that was tough - spent the trip in the diningroom quite relaxing because was practically empty
have never seen such a crowd as that
I wonder what the occasion was
well, I remember trips with hubby and students - to Greece, Spain, etc, etc, the airport was always like that on spring break which is when the student trips were planned
!!
oops, lost my comment - I was much younger then
well, it's not spring break yet -- some team sport or something?

good morning everybody
anybody?
Hi Ruby. Just getting the dust out of my eyes
sleepy dust?
Yup. Cat woke me up
naughty cat!
it's 5:30 on a SATURDAY and I'm awake. How fair is that?
I believe he will find his kibbles allotment severely restricted!
husband woke me at 5:30 today, too, just with his restlessness. Then the dogs woke up and I had to let them out but was able to catch another our of ZZZZ's anyway
hour*
no sleepy dust, just tired
I can never go back to sleep once I've moved around on my feet
well, how else, of course?
I took a pill because I was so annoyed
Ah! that makes sense. But you only slept an hour?

Hi Sprite
hello, sprite! how are you feeling. I've already muddied my copy book but, fortunately, jayk is very tolerant! she didn't yell
am ok, bit of a broken night because I had to pick up my son from school party at 3 am. How is your husband?
he makes me very tired. he is nice to the nurse and the housekeeper, but when I say something to him, he rolls his eyes. I've invited his daughter to come from California, because I'm not sure he's going to get better.
does no one here get to sleep through the night?
babble seems to be a haven for the insomniacs, lol.
and while the housekeeper is on her one-month vacation (I haven't had a vacation that long since I was a child) his daughter can help me with housework and carrying stuff
and I need 8 hours!!
haven't had 8 since husband got sick!
I guess you are the only thing he is certain of at this moment, rubyfoo. He must be feeling pretty much out of control of his situation and maybe he takes it out on the one person he is certain will stand by him.
That sounds right Sprite
he's pushing his luck (only kidding) but this is certainly a welcome respite
I almost just typed a nasty (but, weirdly) acceptable word into the chat.....
I think it is very wise. Call in the cavalry and try to take a couple of hours for yourself every day. It is the only way to survive.
these c words are much fun!
it always amuses me that we type in words for the grid that we wouldn't dream of typing in chog.
or saying, for that matter!
and that one is particularly nasty
yeah it is.
how are you, Jayck? Except for up wayyyy too early?
I have to go make lucnh, see you later
{{sprite and jayk}}
or even lunch.....
bye rubyfoo, take it easy
Doing well, thanks. Signs of spring very encouraging
oh I fully agree! Makes all the difference, seeing how Spring is starting.
when i put the wretched cat out this morning the air felt SOFT!
day before yesterday, it was positively soft outside. Yesterday was suddenly very cold, but now I think we have another early spring day :)
i know spring can't really be here yet, but the hints are still welcome. although eventually i'll have to face the shambles of the garden
I guess we will see some more cold days, but we are getting close now. Another month and it is officially Spring.
how can there be anything over 6 in this grid? Either part of my brain died or the grids are a bit tough lately, I am having trouble.
I will give your brain a little push then, Spritey...co7 co + letter + canvas cover
definitely my brain being faulty then...thanks zooz, and hi :)
change last letter for another..and hello :-)
thanks zooz, consider my brain kicked into next gear :)

Good morning .....

hi all
hi carlee :)
hi sprite :)
Good morning
hi gail
morning Gail
don't you love it when you put something in that you are SURE will not work, and then it does?
I do. Also enjoyed recent grid bearing your name, btw.
thanks :)
i'm in there today too - as au4 :)
lol indeed!
Morning all. I get a bit afraid when an a/8 is so weird. If the words are that strange early in the grid, what am I letting myself in for? Spooky.
a8? do te4.
hiya Molly, I am not finding this one easy. An + boy's name that is also a valid word in this grid + british short for thank you.
def is: selected passages from the writings of an author or of different authors
Thanks Sprite. I had the word. I just think it's weird as hell.
isn't that usually an anthology?
hello, bqck
hmmm looking for boy's name....
me too
Oh look. A sleepy Lil Monkey.
not sleepy at all :)
more common ending in X, I think, that name.
about to go jogging...
hi lil*monkey
hi rubyfoo, wb
hi sprite!
ah thanks, got it
Molly: yes I knew you had it, was clueing it for hursh.
i need the slow learner clue
*Gets more coffee so as to be able to properly pay attention*
Lil, it starts with a phase you get stuck in if you are improperly potty trained.
OK got it now
The boys name is one of the Baldwins.
let me think... To split things into parts to understand them better = to An**yse. + What appears in a seance = ***oplasm. + vowel.
an + **** Baldwin + British goodbye
great minds think alike molly :)
*hopes Molly brings extra coffee!*
on that note, it's time for me to jog now
BBL
*Puts a large Dunkin Donuts coffee urn and doughnuts, bagels and croissants on the coffeetable*
I never knew Copernicus had such a big schnoz.
what a word! but ty for all those clues for it
Oh, lovely! I showed up just in time for breakfast. Haha, morning all.
hi mside
oh, I miss dunkin donuts!
Molly, did you read my profile text? It is a projection of his skull/DNA and resembles portraits of him very closely.
I love that DNA projection stuff. It's like what Angela does on "Bones".
Haha, some days I live or die by Dunks, ruby... dunno what I'll do when I move out west
*grabs a coffee and decides that doughnuts are too good to miss, so 2nd breakfast is in order*
don't they have them in the West?
Ruby, there is plenty left, help yourself. And hey, in honor of you, I bought Pepperidge Farm bread yesterday.
(smiling)
I actually bought myself a jelly donut for my lunch (beignet confiture framboise)
nope they don't
I've decided that since it's only 70 calories a slice, it's diet food. : P
everything is diet food. We only need to slice it thin enough. Am sorry, but must be away for a little bit, my love needs me.
it's the butter and jam that'll get you!
{{sprite}}
drat c words
Dirty word alert!!
it's always surprising, since it's something we wouldn't say or write in the chog
naturally, it was one of the first words I saw hahah
Watch, one of these days, someone will slip up and type that one in the chat box. : P
oh no! probably me
+hereafter referred to as the c word!
afternoon all - i really hate that word
back. Let's all boycot the bad word and not type it in. Oh... too late!
I must confess, I used that word once, called a bad guy I worked with that. He was dumbstruck, but deserved it and knew it!
hello friends!
{{trif}}
Triffles! *hugggggs* How are you today?
having a blessed lie in, sprite -- how's you?
am good, dear friend. Working like a fiend in therapy but really seeing results atm. So dog tired but very good.
what kind of therapy are you doing?
we had the MOST amazing storm here last night! lightning, HUGE thunder, high winds, and apparently some hail, though I didn't see any....very rare for a T storm in February!
seeing a psychiatrist to fix my mental state, a physical therapist to fix my body and a creative therapist to fix my emotional state. I am the one in the middle, integrating everything until it fits.
wow! I hope you were inside and there was no damage. Must have been impressive to watch.
wow, good for YOU!!!! I am so glad to hear that you are having success, and I can't wait to hear all about the positive changes you are experiencing!
I have been doing a lot of reading on compassion v. resentment -- quite eye opening
it is darn hard work and has been for some years. But am getting there :) Will email you more, if you like. Oh yes, compassion is a miracle cure. Compassion leads to freedom, resentment shackles you to the resentmentee ;)
My sister sent me a great quote on "crazymakers" this morning. And how, by attending to them, we neglect our own creativity.
half and time to lie down
{{everybody}}
I want to hear more about crazymakers, molly
I agree sprite, it does. or at least gets you to look at WHY someone might act the way they do. I feel like resentment is internally focused - "why are they doing this to ME?" whereas compassion just stops at the "why are they doing this?" and it helps me not buy into the whole pity party
if you have time could you send me the quote?
Ruby, I'll put it in my profile.
also, in terms of Mr. Hate, it helped me to realize that he might have ended up with the money, and his new life and all, but he paid a HELL of a price (his children, his integrity, his friends, the respect of everyone who loved him) and I would not trade with him for a million dollars.
there was a breast cancer organization called "Why Me?" Why not you, was my feeling, or anybody
ty molly
Hi Sprite. If hego agrees, maybe Flower Monday could be flowers for Nancy Boy?
excellent, ruby! I once heard a famous football player, who had been paralyzed in a game accident, when asked by an interviewer "do you ever ask 'why me'?" respond with best answer EVER == "Look around you. I had a million dollar contract, a gorgeous home, beautiful family, everything! I didn't ask 'why me?' then, so I am not asking it now."
I heard once that the answer to "why me?" is "because you have a lesson to learn from this".
very good, Trif! That is it. And even the whole question of why someone is doing what they do isn't necessary. If you can accept the fact that you cannot know what lives inside people and what made them become like that, you can be compassionate without even knowing the why.
that is good, molly!
good insight sprite! I think you are very right.
And to get even further into Sprite's comment...do we REALLY want to "understand" these people? REALLY?
I just read your profile Molly, you are a hero!!!!
he's in the grid today.
I saw that Kap, and waved at him.
hi jmbdobie, not sure... Let me ponder that for a little while, ok? We all miss him, but I am not sure that for the ones closest to him a reminder of the pain every 2 weeks is a good idea...
Ruby, I'm not a hero. I just keep putting one foot in front of the other. : P
hello kaplan, I was going, but this chat is too interesting
one of my teachers answered to the question of "Why me?" : and what if you were excluded from the suffering of the human race? Where would that place you?
i'm trying to follow it.
For me, molly, it's not so much the understanding of why they are doing it, as the step away from projecting some sort of malice into their actions. I admit, I am a person who feels resentful a lot, and I am working hard to reduce that. So for me, looking at someone's destructive behavior from another angle takes it off me, in a way
How are you feeling this morning Kap? Headache gone?
morning, all!
chat is flying. Hi Kaplan. Thanks Molly, copied it.
Morning Sue.
uusue, this is a big change from our usual "food talk"
hi suee
I mean hi uusue
Trif, focusing on compassion instead of resentment is very healthy. It reminds me of some of the things Mother Teresa said.
I see that :-) but a useful discussion nonetheless, and relevant to my current situation...
Hi, molly, ruby, and sprite!
what I mean is, rather than thinking "why is this happening to me?" I can think things like "wow, this person must be really unhappy to be acting in this way. How can I make this interaction less stressful?"
and trif!
I think headache is fading. Will try to get to the gym later
Hello uusue!
Yes, I'm trying to have that attitude towards my stepmother; it's hard (and my dad is pretty much just plain mad).
good morning kids
glad to hear you are feeling better, kap!
I keep meaning to tell you, we have a lovely UU church right up the street from us, in a gorgeous, very old NE church building....I wish you could see it, I know you would love it
bonjour jean
i got uo at 3 am to eat saltines, take sleep med and babble
hi dJean
Some very good advice I got once was..."don't neglect your anger, but don't let it consume you either."
sounds lovely, trif!
and hi, jean!
It's all about emotional regulation.
that is very apt, Molly.
Oh DUH. I didn't realize the UU stood for that.
hi sprite, ruby, uu
I have difficulty expressing anger; it wasn't allowed in our house
and that is the crux of where I am at with this whole thing, molly - I agree with the basic idea of living in a more compassionate way, but I struggle with the idea that there must be a line drawn somewhere
Ruby needs a Dammit Doll.
what's that?
or a RX for DamnitALL
hahah
let's see - how do I explain this? Take a battered woman for example. I would not want her to spend a lot of time ruminating over why her batterer was like he was - I would want her to RUN.
the line must be drawn where accepting and adapting to behaviour isn't good for you anymore.
compassion with common sense
I really do think some people are just toxic, and should be avoided whenever possible. but how to dovetail that with the ideal of a more compassionate outlook?
and what about compassion for self? some days I am just legitimately tired, and perhaps in those moments compassion is just too far away for me. Can I be compassionate to myself then, and just disengage? I think yes.
I think here you maybe confusing action with feeling, Trif? Of course she must leave. If she can. The time to challenge the resentment and admit compassion comes later, when she is safe from him and can start to heal.
you can be compassionate and still have good judgement
yes, and you can be compassionate from a distance.
ah, yes sprite, I think you hit it right on the head there
first, be compassionate to yourself! Absolutely. And being compassionate isn't the same as accepting everything thrown at you. On the contrary. It is saying: I have no right or reason to judge you. I do, however, have the obligation to myself to judge how much and what I will accept.
I think for me the biggest challenge is compassion with boundaries. I need to practice saying things like "I understand you are upset and I do want to hear what the problem is. However, right now you are speaking to me in a very disrespectful way, so I am ending this conversation until we can speak to each other calmly." and then walk away.
hi all
hello boo!
Boundaries. They are very important. Many of us discover that we are boundary-less.
hi, boo!
hi Boo
BOO!!
*poof*
I also need to develop a MUCH better ability to say "or maybe you are just a big ol' cu 4/6, LATER"
lol, trif!
ha ha ah
And I firmly believe that you cannot be good to, or love someone else fully, unless you are good to and love yourself.
absolutely, molly!
I think that sounds very good, Trif. I think it would also be ok to just say: "Right now this isn't healthy for me, and I take my distance for now." We tend to be boundary-less, as Moly said, and also we often think we need to explain ourselves.
L- is for the way you Look at me
amen, Molly
O is for the Only One i see
that is good sprite! But I must admit, I also resent (ugh, there is that word again!) people (and by this I mean "he who must not be named") who ALWAYS respond with "we need to talk about this later" but later NEVER comes. They just can't deal with anything, so they retreat and avoid. drives me batty
VVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVis Very Very
Extra-ordinary...
EXTRAORDINARY
also true, trif!
E is even more than
?????????????????????????
Love! Was Made for you and me! (Sorry, I was cleaning the juicer)
A former friend of mine always said: "Thank you for sharing this with me." He used that as a way to keep every discussion far away from him. I finally decided our relation wasn't friendship.
(is even more than anyone that you adore)
And there we have it. The answer.
anyone that you adore can
An Love is all that i can give to you
hello all
Love is more than just a game for two
hello periwinkle
kaplan, now let's do this one----> A you're adorable....
TWO in love can makei\ it, take my heart and please don't break it
hi, peri!
Love makes the world go a6/24
where is the cake and ice cream, it is my birthday today!
Love is all you need.
Love! Was made...for you and me! (Must go get a martini glass and my rat pack shades)
that would have chapped me wicked, sprite, I must admit....oh, of course it would have! If it bothers you, it bothers me....
Peri!!! ha5 bi8, dear one!
happy birthday periwinkle. *puts loads of cake and candles in the PB*
Hppy Birthday! I can't give you anything but Love, Peri
!!!!!!! Happy Birthday Peri !!!!!! *Gets cake with sparklers on it*
:-)
same here, Trif, lol. There have been moments I'd gladly have slapped the guy.
I'ts the only thing I've plenty of, Peri
thank you, it is my cat's birthday too, she is 15 years old!!
oh one last thing... even with all the insight on compassion... let's not forget we are human, there is nothing wrong with temporal anger and we are very much allowed to make mistakes!
If anyone starts singing "I Honestly Love You" or "Muskrat Love" I will hose down the chog.
what have you been drinking Kap :)
happy birthday, cattiwinkle
Coffee, dear
Yes Sprite. Which is why I think we all need a punching bag. Literally. It would be very theraputic.
Love is a many splendoured thing...
Happy birthday, peri, and to your cat!!
so true, Molly!
wait, according to some poll, today is also Temporary Insanity Day, really. We are supposed to do supoosed crazy and/or silly
Mornin' to all babblers!How is everybody doing today?
By the way, congratulations to all the finishers! YAY!
supposed to do something crazy/silly even
I think we already took care of that, peri!
well periwinkle, at long last something I don't have to try at :) Doing what comes naturally...
hi Minver
"I'm always a flop at a top-notch affair-but I still got my health so what do I care."
hi Min
LOL you folks are funny
I like to throw ice in the bathtub when I am REALLY angry - you get that nice glass breaking sound, but nothing actually gets broken. try it, it is SO satisfying!
hotdog, Kap is on a roll!!
oh good idea, Trif!
I like that idea Trif
right now I have decided I am over my overeating binge (my usual response to stress) and am breakfasting on shredded wheat (with chocolate milk - hey, it's my dad's house, and the selection is limited!)
How about this chestnut-
wow uusue, good for you! And nothing wrong with chocolate milk. You are eating a breakfast, that is the great thing.
"glorify 5th avenue/and put bathrooms in the zoo/but please, don't monkey with Broadway."
Love is in the air..... Ohohoh baby love.... Love me or leave me...
Clean up those old honky tonks/suppress cheering in the Bronx/ but please don't monkey with Brooooadway
(Fred Astaire and George Murphy)
now I am singing the Lullaby of Broadway... darn Kap :P
Though its tawdry andplain it's a lovely old lane/full of landmarks galore and memories gay/
So move Grant's tomb to Union Square/and put Brooklyn anywhere...
But please, please, I beg on my knees
Don't Monkey with Old -Broad-WAAAAy.
Oh Trif!!! Ice in the bathtub! I wish I had known about that in my angrier days.
You are the ice in my bathtub....
You freeze the world with your smile
tee hee
that's why I call you my ex-hub No I am not in denial.
And every time that he sees you, my Came starts walking a mile...
So in honor of Copernicus, my icon today is heliocentric (although I just now changed it, so if you care you'll have to refresh :-))
Camel
just checking
Very nice, uusue!
agai
Did you ever wonder abut the word "Jewish?" -It seems a funny way to describe a person of a religion.
ah yes, the camel - the bu** of my favorite Yiddish joke -
check out my icon for today, may need to refresh
I mean I wouldn't say you are "unitarianish" or Islamish or presbyterianish...
uu, your profile is very interesting! love the list of babblets....
Ok what's the joke. Save me from my own line of thought
Is the Pope Catholicish?
actually, kaplan, you remind me -- I am not Cath, and I have always wondered -- they call the Pope a "pontif" right/
I think we do say it just like that in dutch, Kaplan.
Yeah?...........
so what does that say about "pontificate?"
Yeah, Sprite?
So this guy goes and buys a camel, and is riding it down Broadway. One of his friends asks him whether the camel is male or female; he assures him that it's male. How do you know, the friend asked. Well, he says, I was riding the camel down Broadway and I heard someone say, "Look at the schmuck on that camel!"
bbl
HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAA!
:-)
yep. Hij is Joods = he is Jewish. Hij is katholiek = he is catholic Hij is protestant = he is Reformed. No lack of logic in dutch. Though there is in English, as you said.
lol uusue!
"ish" usually means sort of like. A pinkish tinge.
clue for an 8 please
You working the grid, Boo?
My son, whose father is Jewish (although I am not) has a T-shirt that says "I'm not really a Jew - I'm Jew-ish"
yes
There you go. That's what I'm talking about.
an + **** Baldwin + brits thank you
I think you can say it is pink, or it is pinkish. Latter is less pink. But there are several words ending in ish that don't have that 'less' aspect of meaning.
got two words out of that one, sprite! ty!
Knish.
lol, kaplan!
:)
Spanish
yvw :)
not getting your clue sprite
coquettish. Vinegarish. Admonish. Fish.
for that matter, Polish, Flemish, Danish, etc....
The other 8 is an en. The 7 has the small measure (less than a pound) at the end. And it's past tense is the 8.
Trif, do you know that polish is the only British word that changes pronunciation when you write it with a capital?
Some of those ishes are the same as Jew-ish. Poish- sort of a Pole.
Shoe Polish.
we were speaking of that very thing at work the other day, sprite!
got three from that one, Molly! THX!
Prague and the Hague don't rhyme.
Another clue for the an 8. A stage you go through when you are not properly potty trained + A cult is also called a s*** + first vowel
not sort of a Pole. It means fully 'a Pole'. You cannot say: that Dutchman is Polish.
but he could certainly be polished
I love random facts, Trif :)
You could if he was acting like a Pole, but I think I am not going to win this debate.
The facts are interfering with my logic. I shoud go into politics.\
I give up on the a in the bottom corner, which I am sure is completely fishy. clue please?
I mean, pinkish means a bit pink. But Polish does not mean a bit from Poland. There is nothing diminishing about the -ish ending in the last word.
Trif: the 2 kinds of cards in the Tarot.
ok, I should go visit my dad. bbl!
That's only if you are speaking from reality, Sprite. I am not.
major and minor ar6
Thanks for the camel joke, uu.
yw, kap!
uusue, all the best. Try and take care of yourself too... *hug*
bye sue
good morning everyone and ty for the tart card clue sprite
in that case, I won'
in that case, I won't put any more energy in an interesting discussion, Kap

hi trif, how goes it up in the northern world?
Tart cards! That's what I have read for me.
oh bodz, the enable dictionary Babble uses is way behind time. It doesn't know internet. So it doesn't know peta byte :(
tart cards must be a Freudian slip ;)
No, it's perfect. I have a t-shirt that says TART on it.
ok sprite.. thanks for the heads up on that one :)
we had a huge thunder storm last night, red, very unusual for february, and it was a right ol' cracker!
yvw :)
my son has a T-shirt that says: Good news! The lab called: your brain is ready.
Tart cards? There was a great slip on a clinicians listserve yesterday when someone asked for someone specializing in POLY(amorous) "life styes, but typed "PLOY"
gm

bye sprite, good to see you earlier and now.
Hi kje.
how is everyone this morning...
oh sorry to kill chat, and run. bye!
hi all
howdy jmc
so did the person who signed on as DR God ever admit to being Dr God?
dr god said it was a error
me thinks dr has been visiting us incognito
whoever signed o had registered ad somehow eded up with #1 - his number
really no wonder the poor person was confused
as is his right of course
i used to ghost gamespy for years as admin;)
i fear they will never come back with the odd greeting they got
but dr g is ot dumb - if he wanted to drop in anonymously, he would just make a different log in
me thinks he has been:)
well yes that is what i thought so i was so very confused by the person
i hope he adds my idea about a 10x10 ,5000 word monthly grid to the new build;))
did you email him that idea crossy? i think it is a good one
i have and one other idea as well,but i cannot remember what it was;/
i would never ever do it - that would be a colossal time suck
just a little something to amuse you between regular grid flips
Dr_God has been watching several times this week.
well i think the idea is for those days when the grid is 34 moderately easy words
yes,when the grids are puny,it will be a life saver
hi kids
hi welk
howdy welki
hi welki
and when the grids are tiny,people leave early,and when they leave early the are nit looking at adverts
welki did i piss you off some how the other night? your last comment was something to the effect of "staring at jmcnrick*
there are adverts?
*lifts up the carpet to find them*
nooooo ... it was something that someone else said, so i just looked at you :)
i hear there may be in the new build
oh okay that was the other interpretation i had
heck womink, by now if you ticked me off i'd just say, 'hey, you ticked me off!'
so i thought and that is why i was mystified! lol
(probably a little more colorfully, though)
lol
<==totally shocked
phantom "nacelle"
what does nacelle mean?
first co7?
engine covering on a plane engine
ah
(where's owl? nacelle is a term right up her alley)
sorry kje i just started
(pb crossy)
The nacelle is a cover housing (separate from the fuselage) that holds engines, fuel, or equipment on an aircraft. In some cases—the most notable one being the World War II .

Another real classic cross ... who was singing it ?? There has been so many covers
thasts the one
which artist, crossy.... several did it
the movie ghost was new and when they got to that part i held out my hand and asked for a dance
Hello everyone. Peri, are you having a nice birthday?
I have about 60,000 songs on my computer, everything from classical, to semi modern... some of my dad's piano and a couple of folders of stuff my choir has taped. ... That is my "other" addiction !!!
awwwww, crossy.... sweet
Happy Birthday Peri !
wiw diane! i hope you have that all backed up
happy b-day peri!!
I have the earliest recording of "my Diane".... done in 1928
And since y'all mentioned Elvis...here is a quote of his...Values are like fingerprints. Nobody's are the same, but you leave 'em all over everything you do.
Yes Crossy, I do. Most of it is tagged properly andneatly in folders.... a lot of work!!
nice quote, Molly :-)
Hello my peeps!
hi Mark
Hi Mark
very sweet crossy
hey mark!
lol our town hosts the international elvis festival every year.us local do not listen to elvis much for the rest of the year
There's an international Elvis festival?? In canada?
there is,they come from all over the world
There's a great Elvis tribute artist show every year in B.C. , Canada ...It is rated very highly and there too, the artists come from all over.
Can i have the a in the bottom right corner?
huh. learn something new every day... :)
changing the subject for a quick moment.... trying to identify the object in my icon picture.... if anyone knows a little about old containers etc.... have a look. ??
that may be a old wig storage container from the early 1800,s..not quite sure yet...
It is of a religious nature, there are fishes and crosses, etc.
I'm leaning toward a burial urn of sorts. I'm tryng to find this out for a friend.
court and church personnel often wore official wigs when doing their duties,but a history on where you got it may help lock it down
I have other pictures of it, enlarged, and showing an inscription in another language.....
That's a great idea to follow crossy.... will pursue it!!
without provenance,it is hard sometimes
Great talk show host
Great talk show host's first name is in the puzzle!
It was given to friend by her dentist who has collected boxes and containers for years, but he had no idea either.
I found a last name, mark :-)
I was thinkin' Conan, but okay;
ooops.... sorry.... :-) and I was thinking "jay"
funny that they are both in there though...
and when you say Conan.... I think of "barbarian" lol
Oooh, his last name is a word.
Funny, funny. :)
diane,can you show me the other photos?
Can i have a hint for the bottom right a?
i dealt in antique glass for years,and stuff like this is right up my alley
I'd help you but I don't have it yet...

Mark.... you are younger than 7 of my 10 grandkids :-) .... well, maybe same age as a couple of them.
Does anyone have the bottom right a?
just use the team number and it will do the rest
BRB
our babble team number is 173981 just go here http://folding.stanford.edu/ for the program client after you load the client,select run or open and it will place a icon in the bottom right of the task bar.right click on this and select configure select a user name and put our team number in the space provided and hit enter:)
to avoid confusion,you should picj a user name that is the same or close to your babble name
Diane, that's funny, because I meant to ask you yesterday what that was in your icon picture.
Good morning, I need a clue for an8 please?
an+baldwin brother+british thank you - stolen from earlier in the chog...can't remember who from :)
Thanks got it
yw
I just downloaded but now showing an icon to select

I think I got it - need to restart- brb
crossy are you still there
i am back
I have downloaded, I have enterred my name and team number...dont know if it is working...wont let me back on yet
just find it in your all programs menu and pin it to your start menu
it is in my start menu

you just mouse over it to see your folding progress and right click it for team stats
i found it - the icon was hidden - this is cool crossy - this is for my friend Cathy that fought long and hard
when my daughter returns my laptop I will set it up on there too
and you can be happy that you are now doing actual front line research9assisting anyways) and not just soving money at them

Good Morning Fellow Babblers! My 21 month old grandson is visiting today so I may not finish. How are all of you today?
Hello Nef
hello Nef - how fun for you
howdy nef;))
I never abuse the wonders of emailing.... I forward VERY little, unless it's awesome and I always send individually . Send your email address to bluejaydi@msn.com ( that's my alternate email )
half way - need to get something productive done today....bbl
i love how ladies use months to set the age of the kids till they are 6 or so;)))))
p.a.melbourne@gmail.com
are you on facebook Crossy ?
crossy does not do FB but this is my real world addy diane,you should have no probs
are the last row n words obscure? i have only found one so far
Not really, crossy. It's just that before 2 years a toddler is changing so much each week that each month is a milestone
thanks .... will try that one :-) And did you say you were coming 50 soon? Our eldest daughter will be 50 on April 1, ..... I could be your Mom !! Yikes !
mm,well,that is true enough nef;)
lol,diane,i lost my mum in 91 and would be honored
if you can make a really good home made corn bread that is....;))
nu6/7 to .. havent' found them though
I think TO they are very obscure
ty
nu + 16 to a pound
i am falling asleep here
nu's are the subtleties- people with bad social skills have trouble picking up the nu***** in conversation.
I am a very good cook and baker.... you're adopted :-)
sorry bad clue
Some people hit you over the head with a sledgehammer. I prefer an argument that is a bit more nu*****
ty.mkap, you left me ith a clue last night, now you greet me with one.
great clue Kap.... thankyou
thank you both.. I wasn't looking that way
Was it helpful at least?
so ru - they are not obscure. they are subtle. lol
I guessed they were obscure..wrongo!
k,diane,got the pics
uu told me a yiddishy joke this morning and I repeated it to five people at the gym and cracked them up
and Kap most likely enjoys double entendre conversations too :-)
the camel joke
I'd love to hear it
you do not grasp subtlesties then. no do i.
that's true TO .. I don't
great, Crossy.. See what you come up with and THANKS !!
usually
just got back, kaplan, glad to hear I am spreading mirth :-)
How about this- the opposite of old uncles is new aunts?
Should I have said that out loud?
yup,the age is right where i thought it would be,i am gussing a judicial wig or church official wig container
UU- they totally cracked up
you can from the PB Kaplan
but i will try and get a match with a tad of research
Does that PB me? I'm never quite sure, but will happily go there.
What is the fare?
hmmmm...but the fish and cross design is definitely religion related.
there may be leftover cherry pie
I'd love to hear the joke though
yes,i am thinking a bishops wig..but it is still speculation for now
UU, you wanna tell it, or should I?
Go ahead - I'm multitasking :-)
are there any hallmarks on the bottom of it diane?
I'll do some delving along that line too, Crossy... it's not really very big though, if you can see the comparison to the pencil container in the background. She never sent me any of the bottom I don't think .... I can ask her.
a guy was riding a camel down Broadway. Someone asked him is that camel male or female
It's a male
"How do you know"
"Didn't you hear that guy say 'look at the schmuck on the camel?'"
hard for me to tell size,what are its dimesions/
LOL
oy
Crossy, your comment is inapporpriately timed!
I'll get that info too, as it just was in chat in our game site and I don't recall what she said.
ROFL
LOL..... roaring.... how funny!!
:)
time for breakfast.... be back later
what can i say? chaos and me often coincide;)
i am watching paula deen and wondering why i am suddenly starving
that's okay crossie .. most boys worry about size
lol
If you're having a bad day, just think about the schmuck on the camel, and smile.
Schmuck also means jewelry. In German, that is.
The family jewels.
is that the origin of the expression "family jewels"?
groan
Must be.
i have to stop watching these cooking shows
Calling William Safire.
Meanwhile, how about a clue for en7,36 -- my "brain" refuses to cooperate.
I'm going to have to brag ... I am eating the most wonderful sugar creation on the planet for breakfast
en7,36 please??
i have an e******ment to make!
Like what the mc does on the radio, but with an e.
Gee -- NO WONDER I couldn't get that one. Thank you!!
crossy is sorry for vague clooze

will you be there long?
how is your dad doing sue?
I'll be here until March 5 (two weeks from today). Wildcat, my dad is doing quite well, and REALLY wants to get home. Looks like Tuesday is the day. His wife left Wednesday, taking most of her stuff, so there are a number of adjustments for him to make (more details in my profile)
Just got smacked with a big ro fish
oh my
which gave me an ar fish
ah thanks now I'm all caught up. glad he's doing so well, sorry all that has to happen in his life and yours. it's hard to know what is best for aging parents isn't it
It is indeed. My next task will be convincing him he shouldn't drive until his doc gives the OK (this may be tough).
ca7?
can he get r
a
around the house?
damn
yup it might. does he have a support system in NJ?
PB for TO..lol
points to pb for TO
He should be able to; he's walking now with a walker, longer distances than he needs to at home, and much of his house is on one level,
is there brisket and latkes in there?
sure TO
*makes some sweet potato latkes for TO*
ca7...kinda like the italian dessert
Wildcat, he has a lot of friends, so I think he'll be ok as far as support goes (as long as he is willing to ask; he likes to be left alone, so the 5 weeks he's spent in hospital and rehab have been very tough on him)
ooh - sweet potato latkes? Let me type in a word!
thank you
I'm close with the It. dessert but not getting it
well I thought my dad was the independent type but in his 80s he's been very willing to reach out to friends nearby and ask for help. I think he realized how much he needed it
yum
Good to hear, wildcat; I hope my dad does the same.
It's hard to lose one's parent's but it's also hard to see them decline.
it's a conversation worth having. I hope he agrees
I'm not sure which is harder kap
Why can't we all just go quietly, with dignity, when we feel like we're done.
Neither am I. Both hard.
and quickly (at least that's the way I want to go!)
need a break, bye all
Best is to have parents who are like John Kenneth Galbraith.
Really tall?
if only the world worked the way we wished it would
bye TO
98, active, intellectual to the end. Tall.
1st co 7?
My dad is still intellectually active, and his body is in pretty good shape too except for the broken leg - he may very well go another 10 years (he's 89 now)
also, kap, if you don't have the ca word yet, it is the same as the French word for cinnamon except with a different last letter
the one I have ru is a co7 lens
before that one
haha, wildcat - I am too much a physicist! was trying to find concave and convex (for the lens)
hehe
first co 7 is when 2 legislaters join together to pass a law
howdy peeps
hi hoot and thanks
hi, hoot!
yw
thank you hoot
yw
lol cohorts hoot? lol
Helloooo everyone! Happy Saturday.
I freely admit to using Morewords for my last 4 words!

howdy jilly
How is my favorite tennis star today ru?
yay done the puzzle!
hey there crossy...

Hiya wildcat

hi, jill and crossy, and congrats, tommie!
Thanks tommie!
you going to be well enough by andre time?
oh sure
I have to rest until tax time..
well I usually try not to but need to use the time for other things today!
I'm starting Physical therapy next week
need my A game for that time
oh no! she just admitted she has a life outside of babble
hehehe
there's life besides babble??
yep - and he's sleeping in the bedroom and working the nightshift
*lowers voice to avoid waking sleeping nightshift worker*
Nah - I think he could sleep thru a tornado.
And he's all the way on the other side of the house anyway
anyhoo - I can clue for a while
thanks hoot, can't seem to monkey the last ac5 and ac4
well I'm taking off then - bbl
ac 5 is nut of oak tree
how are you all today? I have just walked another 7.5 miles - that makes 22 miles in the last 3 days
ty
cu7?
ac4 is whats done on stage w/vowel at end
hi kazzer...awesome! not motivated here...too cold
wow, kazz! I am always so impressed with your walking!
its quite pleasant here temps about 8 or 9 celsius
cu = when everything is in place + vowel
We have to do something - I have to lose at least 20 lbs before 24th March
cu+
what does that translate to kaz 35 degrees?
everything in place
?
closer to 45, ruru
50 is 10 so a little bit less than that and the sun was out and we had some marvellous views over the countryside
ok - cu+ne4+vowel
i have 11 left and most of them are ps
just noticed I am over halfway!
ps are easy except for 6/24
think constelations and drop last letters
wtg sue
constellations beginning with p? somehow I am stuck at pisces...
pl6 - like pl5 beg, with extra vowel
think bigger and closer to us
pl
so far you have asked for all the words I had to look up!
ok, got it, thx!
clue for ar 6/24
trivia: said constellation is Subaru in Japanese, and that is the reason for the stars on the car's symbol
look ar6, boobear, you'll find it
ok - my love is up! bbl
uusue2 - neat!
more trivia - technically it is not a constellation but rather an open star cluster
bye hoot
bye, hoot!
HI dan2...not getting your clue on the ar6/24...
ca are killing me
turn ar6, look ar6, spin ar6, wrap ar6
hi jilly
ty
*slap*...thanks dan2
signed up! again.. sorted :)
is anyone here who knows about computers? i got a pop up that mine is infected but i think sometimes websites do that to make themselves look official
if i remember correctly.. wasnt there a list of words put up somewhere that helped with this game?
or what the words started with and how many letters each contained?
Excellent - fireworks for me - just in time to go out for dinner - off to friends for cottage pie and somerset apple cake
Bodz...Lickety is what you are looking for I believe..
right, bodz, there's a link below the grid
Woot Kazzer..have a great evening..
nitey nite all see you tomorrow
yay, kazz!
thanks :)
Losts of bowel words today....
Howdy peeps!
hi, pav!
morning pav
just opened lickety and realized there is a j in the grid (completely unused, I think)
yep...one of my vavorite letters too...lol
Bowel words?
Hmm
Hi Pav3
oh, that.
a4/4, ca5/14...nm me, I'm a nurse...
Yeah, I can tell. You're one of those people who talks about colors of sputum at the lunch table.
I love nurses :)
just missing the right N, U and bottom corner A for NBT
Not so much Kap...I work in Surgery Center, mostly in endoscopy...very close to home...lol
And color in your sputum means???? INFECTION!
I had an endoscopy done once...
Good Lord, are you a nurse too?
there's a ca4/6, too
Ahahahahahahaha! No but my girlie in law is.
red frothy=heart failure, pulmonary edema....
yep usue :)
could i have a clue for en7 and 8?
Okay then. Let's all never have red frothy sputum, okay?
or two clues, if they aren't related!
Hursh, those two words contain a unit of measure for weight.
thanks!
ok, time to go back and visit with my dad some more - bbl!
Incidentally (she says, not actually having left) - I am reminded of a story my (Hungarian) dissertation advisor once told be about the difference between French and Hungarians - he said that the French leave without saying goodbye, while Hungarians say goodbye without leaving :-) - right now I am more Hungarian than French...
lol
hi Jilly and Hurshy
oh the c's.....*heavy sigh*
hi boobear!
Hello Babblers, good afternoon....
Hi Red!! ((hugs))
Hello Jilly and maybe Hungarian uusue? and Boo and Hursh...
Hi everyone
TO, are you still here?
Hi Mom, thanks for the support yesterday. How are you?
Hi ((Jilly Jill)). You are so welcome. I am fine and you?
Hello Mom!
((Red)) hello. How is the house purchasing coming?
very slow. The bank asked the seller for one more form and seller provided, but no word. So I of course have tome t think do I really want to do this!
which way are you le**ing?
If it goes through I will purchase it. If not...I will probably not go househunting again until next year. prices are going to continue to drop...
that is a good way to feel about it
Red...I'm a realtor...need any help?
Hi Champ!
hi Mom..clue for the third ca 6/21 please
It's a short sale, so I think all I can do is to sort of wait. I email my agent once a week and get an update....
Hi Mom! And everyone!
Part of it just dreading all that moving again.
And Hello Champ!!!!
Hi Champ
((Boo)) hello
Oh honey...you're going to wait and wait and wait. If you aren't in a hurry, it can be a good thing. the waiting scares a lot of people off.
Will have to be co7/32 with 52 left and c's are conquered....bye for now bbl
sigh...well it is off to work in the freezing cold for crossy...whine.....
tc everyone and happy babbling!:)
If it is within your means, I highly recommend a moving company
poof!
*bundles up crossy*
((Crossy)) not the freezing cold! take care
I think a maving company may do it, though I will probably change a ton of furniture. so a throwing out company will work.
take care crossy!
*poof*
estate sale!
Yes, here in Fl Champ, and I guess in some other places, there is almost nothing to buy but short sales....but the deal is good and it is a nice townhome!
1-800-GOT-JUNK :-)
LOL!
(not that your furniture is junk, mind you)
Bye Jilly!
bye Jilly
A lot of it is very old and sort of junkish mom!
The banks are in no rush, and the left had doesn't know what the other hand is doing. It can take a very long time. But in the end, a great deal is a great deal!
I have been waiting abotu 3 weeks. I gave them 60 days, so after 60 days....
Red, that is not junkish, that is antique
oh not that old! most was from target!
It'll be longer than that...
lol
and is everyone starting to see some spring weather???
It's hot and icky here!
chilly here today Red, but the last two were wonderful
how about you?
hi folks - and red, that very special old furniture is not junk, it's junque!
yesterday it was 71 degrees here = today we have some kind of weird wind storm going on
good one JBV!
((JBV)) hello
cold and very blustery
we had sprinkles earlier, and now it's partly cloudy
Hi Pav
terribly windy here - had the chimney cap blow off and land on the roof - cat and I were none too pleased :)
Hiya Mom!
Babble is great - I sign on and get medical advice, real estate advice - can anyone answer a relatively EASY estate tax question??
Hi Angela, I bet not
only if it's not too hard!
where
Define "relatively easy".
where's jmc when you need her?
Southwest NH
oh! lol champ - thought you meant me :)
:)
she's 19 and does not like loud noises :)
NJ - I will not be subject to federal or state tax, I already know that, but do I need to set up an estate bank account to accept transfer of funds from one account that is giving me a major headache - offices are closed til Tuesday, of course, so I have to wait to ask anyone "official"
19! wow!
It's very windy here too. Stuff is blowing all over the place. And there was a bad fire about a mile from here.
I know, right?
She's a pistol.
JBV, just be sure that before you go to the bank, there will be someone there who knows how to set up an estate account. Apparently all bank employees are not trained to do that.
And, you are going to need a tax ID number from the Feds.
setting up a bank account s/b easier if you have the docs in order...
I always ask for the branch mgr or asst
believe me, Molly, I have learned about the different levels of skill and competence of bank employees - this is not a bank, though, it's a mutual fund - my question is whether I really need the estate tax account though, can't it just go into my own account with my own tax ID
for tax purposes at the end of the year it might be easier to have the estate tax account
keep it separate
not if the funds are be paid to an estate...you'll have to have POA or other doc giving you permission
ac5?
jbv I wonder if you could call the irs helpline and if they could answer this question
grows on an oak tree, angela
sorry - first ac5
high card plus british thank you
ty wildcat!
yes, I'm sure I can get the answer on Tuesday - not today :)
yw
you could always check irs.gov
check back periodically to see if jmcrick comes on.
yes, thanks PAV - they tell you HOW To do it - which is relatively easy but my question is whether I really need to do it -
I can call my local surrogate court offic e- they have been very helpful so far
I would think it would make accounting easier at the end of the year - what is taxable for you personally and what is not per the estate
thanks, everybody - I will let you know when I finally find the answer!
and I am off to the CU to deposit a check...bbl
jbv we just set up such an account in nj
JBV that sounds complex.
Sorry to interrupt. Just a quick question, please. What happened to Babblers Anonymous?
it got eaten by Yuku
What does that mean?
first the wind...now apparently the snow is here...crazy day!
apparently they bought the server/app it was running from. you have to join yuku (for free) and then you can get to babblers anonymous and a billion other things
Oh, ty.
off to watch a movie - back later - have fun everyone!
See you all later
hi all, just back from a lovely lunch with my god dtr and her boyfriend. Indian Food, yummm

Pork chops in the crock pot with onion soup, chopped carrots, chopped celery, sage, parsley and black pepper makes your place smell very, very good.
Oooh...sounds yummy.
I have never used a crock pot - and no I do not live under a rock -
LOVE the crock pot! Feel like I'm cheating, but so be it!
I can see the advantages - but now that I'm retired, I don't really have the need
bbl
I haven't tried pork or chicken in the crock pot. only roast
bye Peri
Molly, you made me hungry - haven't had lunch - i'll be back later - have fun
If you have a busy day running errands or something, it's nice to put it all in the crock before you leave, then have it ready when you get home.
bye bye JBV
clue for the first co7/36 please
enter a message...happy
whoops
boo.... an important part of the eye
oops..... that
that's the 21
ty

oops thats not the first one sorry
hiya ivesy..... I think that's the second one ?
LOL.... let's get that pesky "first" one !! ...don't have it either
lol... me either im looking
I don't put chicken in the crock pot. Chicken is tender and doesn't need slow cooking to tenderize it. I use the crock pot for tougher cuts of beef and pork.

Me too.
uh oh i am only 44 in. wheresabout does it get difficult?
ive got 54 and now im stuck lmao
ok so SOON haha
I was about to say exactly the same...54 words and struggling. :)
Early on for me but most words are "normal" words. I started this morning and back again...3/4's done
(hello all)
I have 40 left and its been like pulling teeth.
Hi Krista

Yes, doing very well, thanks. Hooked on Babble again. I am an all-or-nothing type, lol.
i have that :) thanks though!
its the small ca words that are killing me
You must be like me...the four letter ones are the hardest to find.
yep!
I always feel so silly asking for clues for them, but that's always what I'm left with.
ca and repeat
Oh, good one, thanks, Annie.

You're are in the PB too, Krista!
ar6- an easy one to get caught on
**oops** as long as there is food there, I'm cool with it
Always food.
i need the 2nd ca 6/21
please
no I didn't Krista.... I've had it on my computer for over a year, but thought the babble world would be great exposure !
Diane, I just looked at the object, no idea what it is for exactly, but I am thinking it is a church object due to the crosses and fishese.
fishes.
never mind got it
but you prob already deduced that...
Ca's done. phew.
I think i understand the hannibal/karinina clue, but can't find the right combo of letters
rob just get rid of the last letter and change the vowel
I agree, redturtle.... and the date appears to be 1810.... I sent more detailed pictures to Crosshair
I love a good challenge. I'm always researching things for my antique booth, so if you want to email me the rest of the pics, I'll keep my eyes peeled. (email on my profile).

Not sure if this is ok to ask...oh well...are there any -teau words?
not that i know of

Hi Soodle!

I think you are more right krista one of the "soviet bloc" countries...
Krista,... if you click on view choices, you can see it very clearly
the last co 5/14?
Found some of the characters in Bulgarian, so it has to be a Slavic language.
Diane - I was curious about your 'vessel' and had a look at your flickr..... wonderful photos, and didn't you look smashing at your anniversary? Really great looking grand-kids as well!
1 2 3 4
Someone of royal lineage.

Ditto what Cos said re the AN word!!! I was running out of clooze......
Two talk show host's names! One word, one not... One first name, one last.
Soodle knows.
Diane still here?
Wise old, ahem, Young Soodle
I think?
yes, Krista :-)
Mr. O'brien and Jay Le**
my hubby jokiingly said, maybe it's an ancient chamber pot :-)
ah nice catch mark!
Sue, have you come across Rubyfoo on Babble? Her husband was in hospital, and in her words, she 'sprung' him. He is doing well since he came home. I hope the same goes for your Dad!
Thanks cos! Anyway, i must leave. I have a scrapbook to make!
Hi, soodle! Yes, Ruby and I have chatted (she lives in a part of France of which I am quite fond). Thanks for thinking of me!
Bye Mark :-)
I'm almost certain it's Slavic language, but there are so many. I emailed Belarussian and Ukrainian friends to see if they recognize which one it is.
I'm leaning more to something related to burial, or ashes, or a warming pot of sorts. ( the first "slow cooker" ??? )
awww thanks Krista.... this is getting interesting !
Sure, this is fun. I have all kinds of nerd fun, lol.
It would be awesome if this artifact was worth something !!!!... this friend is wheel chair bound and life has been tough for her at times.
That would be wonderful for her.
I've never met her, but she is a favourite of us all in other chat rooms we've been together.
Funny how our virtual friends are so very real to us. I count so many Babblers as true friends.
I think we need Indiana Jones on the case of the Artifact. He would know!!!
(Humming theme from Raiders of the Lost Ark as I type).....
I think it's a priest's lunchbox. :)
LOL..... Crossy thought a wig container, but I think it's only about 8 or 9 inches high.... ( just waiting to hear from my friend )
just walked in mid conversation - a priests lunchbox?
brb...son needs a cuppa
Maybe it contained the fishes and the bread that fed thousands ! The symbols have some relationship to that, or at least to religion.
I can't believe something that ornate, with obvious religious symbols on it, would be a wig container.
What is it made out of, Diane? Is it pewter, or some other metal?
too small too...
Does it have holes in the top? Could it have been an incense burner for Mass?
It is a metal, and the craftmanship looks rather rough....hand hewed for certain
*singing Happy Birthday to Diane*
doesn't appear to have holes. .... I've never seen it,... just the pictures
Oh yeah, I keep forgetting it doesn't belong to you.
that is so nice Jillyjill.... but birthday was last May.... :-))) I'm not quite ready for another one !
'Raiders of the Lost Ark' theme tune reaches a crescendo in Soodles head..............
This has been the most response I've had from anyone, regarding the artifact. I just knew that there would be a Babble friend or two, who would know something. I've even thought of sending a picture to a museum curator, but where ??
first na 5/12 plz
it is a surname of someone I know.... rhymes with what fred astaire did ;-)
great clue ty diane!!
all I could think of .... I must go see what it DOES mean !
okay, now I know
My youngest daughter won a 'Meet and Greet' with Taylor Swift at her Dublin concert in March. She is ecstatic!!
wow, they are calling for 3- 5 inches of snow and ice here 2morrow nite . and i thought it was over!
how wonderful !
that was directed to soodlebum.... and sorry about your weather, ivesy :-(
i thought it was diane lollol
Understood, Diane!! :-).
I thought it was a censer at first, too, but don't see any holes.
Just told my daughter about your girl's meet/greet prize with Taylor Swift. She is very impressed, SB!
we have overcast and high winds right now in Arizona.... the poor little Mommy hummingbird is getting quite a ride on her nest.... I think the eggs have hatched.
diane are there ashes in that thing?
maybe it was the carrier for the holy grail? :)
Yikes, Ivesey - More snow? This sure has been one tough winter. I think (dare I say it?) Spring has arrived here. The daffodils are just about to bloom, and today was ... (in Irish speak) A grand soft day!
it's 60 here but i'm afraid it'll be like snowing again next week.. like it always does a week after high temps
I'm sure it's empty Cosdem... just waiting for friend to appear on Facebook and then I have a bunch of questions for her.
well, it will do this till end of march.. fool us with spring for a few day then kill us with snow and ice. been a long winter
we have had snow in may at times ahhh western ny lol
you've had a worse winter than we have had on the Alberta prairies Ivesy.... we've got tons of snow, but no ice etc. We just talked to neighbors back home who are taking care of clearing our walks and driveway, and they been busy !!!
i need some nice warm weather, with sun. getting the winter blues
it will come, my friend :-)
Its been the coldest winter since records began here in Ireland. Temperatures dropped to an all time low in December/January. Roll on the Spring, I say!
Daffodils are poking up here. We have been spared this winter, not much snow. We had our winter from hell last year. I'm ready for warm air and planting.
Diane, if you're comfortable with it, will you please email me a way to get in touch with you? Email, Facebook, etc.?
meeee tooo!
done! sparklers
yay, jill!
Molls - just had a look at your updated profile...... and I echo every single sentiment there. Well said!!!
te 6/21 plz

~~~~~~~Pom Pom Toss for Jilly~~~~~~~~~
ah ty jilly!
ty ty ty...
facebook is diane henes .... then I'll give you an email :-) Right now, I can only use hotmail, as my window's outlook won't let me send things.... does not agree with the local ISP here
yw ivesy
how is your weather soodle?
Soodle, we were having a very interesting discussion here this morning about compassion vs resentment and dealing with what bugs us. That is when I added that quote to my profile.
that works..i think it's a reliquary box now...I think you said that before...bye for now, all...my publuc calls
bye krista...have a great day
public, that is, lol...bye Jillyjill
Just got a little taste of Spring today, Jilly - Clear blue skies, a touch of warmth in the sun - a very beautiful Spring day. Needless to say - rain is forecast for tomorrow!!
A little cold here...29 (F) and snowing...ah well, it is only February...seed catalogs to look at and dream..
Thanks Moll - What you say is all true. Sometimes it is useful to see it written down to reaffirm it!
down to last 11. two A and 9 C :-(
Go uusue Go!!!
I can't take credit for those words. The author is quoted at the bottom of the passage.
elfin elope
the c's were daunting today!
Well, must toddle off to finish housework. bbl for flip. Take care babble buddies!
I saw that Molls. And, whoever wrote it....I agree! Jill - we are more than half way through February.... we are heading in the right direction!!!
Doing good, hanging on pretty well, how about you? How is your son?
Hello River :-)
housework....babble chat...hmmm let me think...
My son is Awesome - back to playing competitive soccer - game tonight actually - he is a non-stop kid - I am so lucky
(((Soodle)))
Yay for Keith!!!!!
That's so good to hear River.
YAY *sends fireworks up*....well, now I must go...
*poof*
I scream more than that at his games
(((Jilly)))) see you soon.
bye ((Jilly))
hello Molly - we are on the same babble time zone lately
I read your profile last week, River.... what a wonderful story... and so positive. Your heart must just swell when you watch him enjoy life !!
you can even imagine - what Keith went through keeping his positive attitude and moving on...he is an incredible kid
and an incredible athlete....
someone upstairs is certainly watching over him...
the 2nd co 5/12 plz
well River,..... the stamina and mindset had to come from somewhere/someone.... give yourself credit too :-)
***proud mama smile*** as stiddie would say
Watching another cartoon movie this morning
hi herin :-)
Hi
13 to go and I can list
Hey
LICKETYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
hello lickety
ty diane finally got it
We are watching Despicable Me. Last night we watched Madagascar 2
you are funny...watching madagascar and no kids yet...they are great movies
I dont know about you but I still cry at all Disney movies...kids laugh at me
Well it is funny when they make adult reference
not laughing at you herin....laughing with you...I watch them too
No I know you are not laughing at me
Hello Herin, Lickety. I don't get to see either of you very often. Hope you are both well and content?
Hi Soodle. I am busy with work in the week now.
6/21 right after the one relating to the eye plz
Change the final letter Ivesy... try the letter between K and M in the alphabet.....
How is the job going, Herin? Are you enjoying it?
ty soodle.. very nice clue!
Hey Lickety. Just want to say thanks for all your hard work here. Your lists are very much appreciated.
Probably will be sent to the PB for that clue....... but theres nice goodies there today...
I am loving the job
*looking at Soodles clue for words*
Oh, I am delighted to hear that, Herin. Good for you!
Thanks. It has been busy
Herin that is wonderful
River..... here to clue (graphically) if necessary....
River, Soodle meant that "between K and M" clue. Soodle, I left a box of Godiva in the PB. Go crazy.
Busy week.
still looking and havent listed yet - need 11 more to list - my own rule
oh isnt Molly the best...I may have to say something like....corn....ooops.... off to the PB for me
...faint mumblinhg sounds from PM..Om nom nom.....
Em..PB!
i liked the clue lol
River I love the new kids movies how they have more adult references. Like Madagascar
they always have but kids dont see them.....but us newer age parents watch them unlike my folks so we catch the references. Hard to explain when the kids ask why we are laughing at certain parts....we laugh harder
O Yes River. My cousin was trying to figure out why I was laughing.
corne t
Herin, start checking out other Disney movies, they are a scream
corne t
thanks inge
What movies River?
Hi Inge
The Shrek movies seem to have more for the adults than the kids...loads of double entendres and wink wink nudge nudge comments.
Soodle, any reason you know of that Tullamore Dew has doubled in price over here all of a sudden?
O gosh Shrek is so funny.
Shrek is the best - get the first one
I love the Shrek movies.
I also love Ice Age even though there isnt as much adult stuff in it
same with Monsters Inc
Sheesh, Moll....I have no idea, but I would guess its (somehow) recession related....
Supper is ready so must go...have fun kiddies...bbl
My absolute favourite Disney movie is Beauty and the Beast... Angela Lansbury is magical as Mrs Potts!
I don't know, Jemmy and Bushmills are about the same. Tullamore Dew is my choice, but not when it's ten dollars a bottle more than the other two.
I haven't seen Beauty and teh beast in ages
corr ade
In my dream house, by the lake, there will be a library. It will have books and DVD's. And there will be a whole section of Disney classics.
We have a library.
Molly - avert your eyes - I don't drink whiskey! I have no idea how much the stuff costs. But, on your behalf, I will go on a fact finding mission tomorrow, and will report back to you, OK?
**THUD**
..............sorry..............
Molly. What do you need to know about the whiskey
Glenfiddich is good
Hey Herin. I was just wondering why the price of one certain brand of Irish whiskey here has doubled. I wondered if there were labor issues or something in Ireland.
No idea. Maybe taxes and all that stuff
I havent heard of any labour related issues Moll, but, I guess they will blame it on the recession. Everything here is recession related!
*Wonders when Soodle entered the convent and why I didn't get the memo*
Soodle I heard that there is massive issues with horses needing new homes because no one can afford them
Herin.... this country is in meltdown! 4 years ago, we were awash with money. All of a sudden, BANG - we are broke. Its bewldering.
It is sad though. No one ever thinks in the future
ca 6/21 after the ca 7/32 plz
And Moll - I tried and tried and tried.... No convent would take me!!! A failed wannabe nun! Cripes... how bad can things get?
got it for fire works!
~~~~~********PomPom Toss for Ivesey***********~~~~~~~~~
yay, ivesy!
Yah Ivesy
There is a NEED NOT APPLY poster of me in every convent in the US. I'm sure the nuns that taught me are still praying for my heathen soul.
Molly did you get taught by penguins?
clues for the first ac5 (not the nut)?
Whenever someone asks me "What's wrong with you?" I reply...12 years of Catholic schooling.
Molly..... I saw those posters!!! Every convent I applied to had them on the front door!
Damn. Even in Ireland. I am internationally shunned.
Your reputation precedes you Moll!
ty ty.. time for wine !
My b.f has two great Aunts that are Catholic Nuns and one cousin that is a Buddhist nun.
Guys, its 11. 15 PM here. Time for Soodle to retire. Goodnight everybody, and thanks for cheering me up. (((((((((((((((Hugs all round)))))))))))))))) Poof
The nun I had in 8th grade was the best. Full on nun regalia from the 1940's. Handkerchiefs up her sleeve, rosary beads around her waste. And she insisted on calling everyone by their given name. Jimmy was James. Bobby was Robert and Molly was Marie.
Night Soodle, sweet dreams.
Molly did you call them Penguins behind their backs?
Her waste? Waist.
Night Soddle
nm, got the ac. Now to the first an5...
Brief re-poof... Molly - I think that old witch taught me as well........ could she have been bi-locating back in the sixties????
Soodle, if they can levitate (The Blues Brothers) they can bi-locate.
ROFL Moll - Levitation of nuns round these here parts usually was as a result of the application of footwear to the nether regions of nuns... (otherwise known as a kick in the a*se)...
My friend has worked out the best way to get me to call right back
Whats that, Herin?
Ok so he left me a normal message followed by a O MY GOD WHAT IS THAT. very convincing
He really is a ratbag
He he! And of course, you are going to call him back! Very clever!
I called him right back. Freaked me out at 830am
OK, Real poof this time. Goodnight Babblers. ((((Hugs all round))))
I have to get him back. Have to think about it though
Night SOodle
I am ogg to do a few things
help with the pl6/24 please
hi and bye Heirn
pl6/24 is pl, 3 vowels, and a 2-point letter.
The plural of the pl6/24 is a star cluster that looks kind of like a very tiny "dipper".
ty Uusue2-
down to my last 5: first an5/10, 3rd ca5/14, first two ca6/21's, and first co7/36. Will accept any hints :-)
ca6/21 body of water: English Ch***** minus "h"
thanks, une!

sue sorry to hear about your dad. guess i
have been out of the loop this week
ty, GE - he's actually doing pretty well right now; I'm hoping he doesn't melt down psychologically when he gets home (would be out of character for him but who knows?)
that's a lot of change for 89
It is, although he is very tough (both physically and mentally), and very stubborn.
Sue, he's fortunate to have you there. You are a good daughter. And you get extra good daughter points for eating shredded wheat with chocolate milk. : D
tee hee, molly!
Do you think his wife bolted because she wants to be the "cared for" instead of the "care taker"?
Yes, I think so; she is really physically unable to be the caretaker, and I think she was scared.
an 8, please?
an + 30 Rock Baldwin brother + brit thanks
That's why the perfect solution for them would be assisted living where they were. It's too bad she took off. He has to feel abandoned.
hae no idea about rock baldwin!
Nan, how about Sir **** Guiness?
Well, she always wanted to live near her children for the last part of her life; he knew that but was unwilling to consider it (he doesn't like her children). But it was awfully sudden.
ty molly
tx molly, was wracking my brain!
It sounds like they had some things to work out before all this happened. Maybe they can still reach some sort of compromise.
I am hoping so, Molly, but am not optimistic. But we'll see.
Fireworks!!!!! (I have been monkeying my last word for what seems like HOURS!!!)
OK, going to do a little online tutoring...
is it just me, or is this one really tough?
I had a pretty hard time with it, nan (and have decided not to tutor after all, I am tired)
en 7, please?
en + 16 of these to a pound
ty sue
te 6/21, please?
nm -- found it
pl 6/24, please?
pl6/24 is pl, 3 vowels, and a 2-point letter
like the pl5/14, but stick with a additional vowel in the middle
ty sue and kje
The plural of the pl6/24 is a star cluster that looks kind of like a very tiny "dipper".
trivia (repeated from earlier): the Japanese name for that star cluster is "Subaru"; a stylized version of it is on the front of the cars.
pl + number after 7 **ght + lemon**e
ok - back to the c's -- think I need a glass of wine to tackle those!
the c's were a bear in this one!!!
cu 7?

Hi again. My grandson is back home (or at least on his way); so I can work on the grid again. 41 down; 92 to go; I hope it isn't too difficult to finish!
hi, nef! It gets pretty tricky towards the end but there are a lot of hints in the chog :-)
lol, hi all, joining the fray
Thanks, uusue. How's your Dad doing?
hi Aloy!
He's doing really well, thanks! He's coming home on Tuesday and can hardly wait.
Hi, Aloy!
Do you think you will have trouble caring for him, uusue?
No, I don't think so. He doesn't need help with much at this point (maybe a little with dressing).
ooh boy, had to refresh, seems I joined a morning chat! didn't realize the chat leaves off where you left it
We'll have to figure out how to get him in and out of the shower but I am sure that is doable.
lol, aloy - I've noticed that too!
there was a fray this AM? What was going on?
so glad your dad is coming home.. just some fast and furious chat, Nef.. need to pay attention to the "time" from now on.. anyway, glad to be with you all
uusue, he should be able to get a home health aide to come and help with that a couple of times a week til he's stronger
bbl -- called away
Well, I'll be here for two more weeks, so that should cover most of it. We're meeting with the social worker at the rehab center on Monday so will find out what is available at that time. I think they're planning to have physical therapists come, anyway.
If he still can't drive by the time I leave, we'll need to make some arrangements, but he has quite a few friends in the area as well.
ask for an Occupational Therapist to visit the home too. They are very helpful in finding ways to modify or change how things are done so he can be more independent
excellent suggestion, Nef
yes, I wasn't sure what they were called, thanks! We'll probably need that to help with the transition.
He really is remarkably strong (and stubborn!!!)
my son is an O.T.
nice, aloy!
DH had a physical therapist, speech therapist and occupational therapist at different times and for specific problems this past summer. Plus the visiting nurse and the home health aide
yes.. he had two degrees in international business and finance, was a market funds analyst, hated it.. went back to school, loves working with people.. am proud of him
good for him, aloy! and thanks for the info, nef! By Monday or Tuesday I may have more questions :-)
Each of the therapistshave very different things they do. Aloy, you must be very proud of him; especially since he's found his nitch!
had no idea how broad the OT field is.. so many choices! for now he is specializing in neurology, working with children who have brain injuries
oh, aloy, that must be intense! I would have trouble working with children...
me too.. used to do some work with severely impaired children, became depressed. Most of them were born "normal".. accidents, etc.. so sad
oh yum, Reuben sandwiches for supper (hubby cooked tonight)
sounds good, aloy!
Aloy, my DH has M.S. and that's why he needed the intensive therapy. Everything went to hell this summer with relapses. A year ago his Au4/5 fell and broke both wrists and lived with us for 4 months while she recovered. She had an O.T. and her therapy was very different from anything they gave DH to do
coar sen
Nef, you have had it tuff.. wow.. hope both are doing much better now?
Yes, nef, I saw your DH's story in your profile - hope he continues to do well!
they are, Aloy. I happen to love his au**; she's never married and helped raise him; so that wasn't hard at all having her live with us. I'd really like her to move in with us; but she's too independent. DH was told this summer that his "new normal" would be a wheel chair; but he's back to using a ca** and "wall-walking" (using the walls for balance when necessary in the house).
good to hear, Nef. cybercheers of support for them .. and kudos to you for all the help you gave them (-:
thanks, Aloy. I did what I could for people I love. You'd do the same; just as uusue is doing for her Dad
whoopsie doopsie, just "qualified" to hit the list.. ty to volleymomdee, saw no Lickety
lickety's been up all day, aloy...
no Lickety? I'll have to *work* harder then when I list
brb, think this calls for a glass of Chenin blanc
h'mm.. maybe I'll try to access it again, ty uusue
Yes, lickety's up - I just checked again (couldn't have finished without him!)
Whew! I hope you're right, uusue!
going to log off and get back on.. dee's list is 170.. nope, not even the same grid.. am discombobulated.. pre-wine! brb
Aloy, I just peaked and Lickety is up and current for me too (I won't use it yet; too early for me to do so)
ok.. back and all is well. ty, Nef.
now to see what fishies I missed
hello all.
hi red! How are you?
Aloy, did you miss any big fish?
I'm Ok. I am irritated as I was stung by an inknown creature this evening and I can not get the stinger thing out of my finger.
but I am an adult, and I think I shall live.
h'mm, just found an8, not so fishy!
did you try the credit card trick? where you use the edge of the credit card to slide the stinger out?
and no s's in this grid, so no worry about overlooking a plural, lol
Ahhhh, no I went for actual alligator clamp Nef.
ouch, red..
and you still didn't get itout? Geez, what stung you?
it is better now, I am just still irritated. today was grouchy day. but I am really about to go to bed, wanted to say hi and complain.
How are all of your lovely babblers?
grouch away, red ! .. and tomorrow will be a better day, I'm sure
I'm fine, red. We had our grandson overnight; but he's gone again
:) Aloy and Nef are you participating in the Great Backyard Birdwatch?
remember that black stinky ointment we used to put on boils to draw out all the yucky? ichthymol, something like that.. wonder if it would work on a stinger
grandson overnight must be challenging at times...
I didn't know about it, red. What is it?
yes, red.. I hope to do just that (-:
saw a bald eagle today
in your yard?!!??!
no, I saw two bald eagles today
we have a cell tower at the end of the road that goes by our place; eagles have nested in it the past three years, yay.. one was perched as I went by this morning on my way to a meeting.. saw the other fly over just south of Ft. Pierce on my way to Lakeland
google the Great Backyard Birdwatch. you just birdwatch for 15 mins this week and record which birds you see. then they tally it up. there are some free giveaways and photo contests. My Mom is cleaning up though. her cardinal was on the front page and her sparrow was featured in "which sparrow: is it.
Aloy, you are eerily close to me!
just today, red.. usually am in the Punta Gorda area
Ahhhh. Well welcome to Central Florida.
funny thing happened.. hubby programmed Garmin, so my trip there was perfect.. but on the way home, it tried to send me back to Ohio when I punched "home".. lol.. was lost for quite a while
And with that, I must get on with sleep. as I must go back to work!
red, our grandson is 21 months and he can be very busy. Luckily, our house is a rambler stye and he can run ar6/24 in circles from the kitchen to dining room to living room, etc. and when he gets too busy, we have him chase the dog ar 6/24 with him.
good night all! And the dog is a good idea nef!!!!
Oh Aloy! that is terrible!!!!!!! going to Ohio!!!!
lol, that should help him run off some steam, Nef.. nite, red.. sweet dreams
And now I really have got to go!!!
niters red!
sweet dreams red
hey all! I am taking FIVE MINUTES (while I am actually making progress on the paper, I can tell I am not breathing, so I need a break).
yay, stid.. glad to see you.. good luck on that paper
We just had to cut down our 40 foot red maple tree about 2 weeks ago. It must have been hit by lightening in our first bad winter storm; the whole top was losing bark and rotted. Our house was just 20 feet from the tree in 2 directions. I hated to lose it; and we aren't getting many birds right now
Hi stid. (I forgot to enter my previous post)
thanks aloyisius ((hugs)) good to see you!
oh how sad, Nef. I love my bigleaf maples in the backyard.
rats.. red maples are so pretty, RIP, red maple
well, I missed the pl of the prickly desert plant, sigh
thanks for that one aloyisius!
heads over to Nef's house for syrup
(-: my pleasure, stid
I hadn't even known it was damaged til our tree guy came around. It would have hit the house for sure in a high wind
ruru.. howdy
hi, stid!
ruru, syrup is from sugar maples, not red ones
hiya aloy
and very sad about the tree, nef!
damn
hey sue! I caught just a glimpse earlier of why you had to go back to your dad's place... hope all is going well?
hey rru!
heysssstid
yes, stid, he's doing really well and will be coming home Tuesday.
I think you could technically make syrup ruru, but I suspect you would do a LOT of work for very little return with red maples.
the sap of the bigleaf maples is sweet, but doesn't flow very fast ever.
we had a sugar maple that was hit by lightening years ago. My kids still talkabout going out and "sucking the sap" in the spring! :-)
I am so pleased, sue! I bet he is happy about that. People like to be "home"
So I will be here for about 10 days after he gets home, which should help a lot with the transition. (Can't help as much with the psychological aftereffects of his wife leaving, of course!)
not going to touch that one nef..lol
we made syrup from our maples in Ohio.. peeled the kitchen wallpaper.. the following year, we changed venues, lol
oh, stid, you have no idea! He hates it in that place and is SO looking forward to coming home!
no, but hopefully he will have enough support from friends and neighbors?
yes, he has lots of friends in the area
LOL that much humidity, nef?
did I say something off-color? My kids would actually go out and cut the small twigs and suck on them
.. with three kids, I got distracted as it boiled down.. black smoke did a number on the lace curtains too.. oh what fun, making homemade maple syrup
that was Aloy, stid. :-)
hello babblers
I need the first co7/36 please?

co 7 eye lens
the other co7 is what ET did
Hello all and thanks.
three tiles for NBT -- the U, the central E and the A in the lower right corner please?
co 7 co + what you do to the garden
actually co(prisoner) + what you do in a garden
i am drawing a complete blank
co (prisoner) camping equipment
ty
i shopped at three food stores today and sitll have not made dinner
u = un4/6
hm. maybe you are just not hungry?
I do that all the time TO
thanks sue. *eating fish
are there more than three co 7 ords?
I seem to eat on the late side
4 of them, TO
I need the third co please.
past halfway...
lower right A is a tarot word - lesser ar6/21
i have three now
thanks sue!
go TO go!!!
there is an ar6/21 just after it that is identical except for the final vowel
i think it may be the garden one
I made the mistake of eating popcorn and some choclit when I got in from shopping for stidkid's bday present... got him a stand for his trombone that fits inside the trombone bell so it is easy to transport.
prisoner + you need to **** to dinner
yep. got it!
the 4 co 7's: to legislate with someone else; to touch; to vie; and what's inside
contest
concook? *grin*
prisoner + the number after nine + a consonant
almost, TO - change the penultimate consonant
ty. i think i will go find something
oooh! and the first CO 7 gave me the E in the center for NBT!!!!
yay, stid!
thanks sue for the ar6. finally nbt!
I need the senator one but haven't found it yet. Thanks all for your help.
Yay, GE!
Got it. Thanks.
so, I think my five minutes are way over the limit. back to the paper. I decided to go through it once today, and then hit it really hard tomorrow.
hope you get an A+++++, stid!

Hello TO and jes.
hello stidge and all
hi TO
hi TO and jes
hello Mother! hey all!
I figured 7 pm was a good enough time to stop for the day.
Good evening to my fellow babblers! How is everyone?
By the way, congratulations to all the finishers! YAY!
and stidg and Boo and stid and Min!
hello Min! welcome to the grid!
hi min. does that mean you're leaving us, stid?
hi boo hi ned hi min
LOL no, but it does mean my eyes are pretty tired and I won't get these last 55 today.
ah. well, i'm unlikely to finish... i'm home for only a couple hours before i have to go back to work again...
and i've got 90 left to find
May I please have a clue for te6-21? Thanks
gee whiz -- why back again? you pulled the short straw?
I thought bosses got to make their own hours!
i have the only straw, stid
are you working 16 hour shifts or what, jes?
an7 clue pls? ty
really? you are the only vet? gee, that's rough.
is it calving time where you live?
i am the only one on-call until such time as the new doc is comfortable enough taking emergencies on her own, which will probably be a month or so more
have been since the end of january
oh, I see -- so you have some day-time relief at least. That good.
was there from 8-4 today, came home for all of 15 minutes and headed back in, and have now a hospitalized case that needs meds every 4 hours.
it is starting calving, nef. haven't had many yet though. be more of them the end of feb-april
yowch. so you have a cot in the kennel?
my sister and her hubby do ridiculous hours during calving season (they're both vets); but that doesn't start til the end of March or beginning of April
there is an air mattress. i will come home to sleep between. newdoc will do the 1:30 check, but i'll have to go back in about 5:30
you make parenting sound easy, jes!
how big is your clinic?
clue for the last en 5
2 1/2 doctors, nef. currently the other full time doc is a new grad.
*worried mama look* I hope you are taking really good care of yourself jes... I understand the workload, just hope you are getting to take bubble baths and eating right and such (I love bubble baths...)
heh. no bubble baths. bruce is making sure that i eat though. he made enchiladas tonight.
en5/10 word is en plus spanish word for aunt Boobear
ty
good bruce. *pats bruce on head* I gave tom the link to the vinaigrette recipe with many stern looks and wistful sighs...
yw
but not sure what will come with the salad this evening. the younger stidkid is making supper today.
ra5-12 please.....thanks
can anyone pls clue an7?
one vowel shy of a masked animal
ra 5/12: masked critter variant
racon

*puts BIG pile of choclits in PB*
Thanks much, stidmama.....I'm going.
man, I needed that today peach! thanks! :-D
hi all
hey tea!

does anyone want a cute little 5 year old that thinks he is a kitten, thus making kitten noises?
yvw

Oooh!! Pet the kitty, TNC! ;-)
hi cross

de7 clue pls?
hey cross! how is the lovely mrs cross today? and the little cross?
Howdy. crosshair.
howdy t.O
the mrs cross and the crosslet are just fine:)
rofl tea... now now dear, it doesn't really last that long in the grand scheme of things. and it is a necessary part of development (it is WRITTEN that children shall drive their parents crazy at every age)
howdy gapeach
and yourself then cross? fit as a fiddle and feeling fine?
I just wish he would SHUT UP!
upright and taking fluids ((stidmama))
well that's not bad then, cross ((hugs))
ok, he jsut went to bug his sister - whew!
*gives tea official stid earplugs -- guaranteed to work with everything except fire alarms and electric guitars*
sorry, phone
*waits for sounds of sibling-whacking*
"TNC, kittens *have* to purr when petted. which might be better than meows" was not found in the dictionary
te6-21 please......thanks
awesome, nef
LOL nef!
yeah. wrong box . again.
and he's back . . .
well, I am down to 40. which is a good number for a grid of this size and complexity. I think I will bid you-all adieu. See you soonish, I hope! *poof*
but now he is playing on the computer, so the mewling may have stopped
night stiddles
niters, stid!
g'night, stid
ngith stid
can you stay home for a bit, jes? or have you been called out again?
Hi all!!
poor jes,been busy with the emergency calls?
hi jilly
Hi jes
hi Jilly. How are you?
Hi nef...good, how about you?
howdy jilly
HI crossy...brrrrr here now
brrrr here also
Guess that's winter huh!
would it be possbile to get a couple of clues?
yes, crossy. had, uhm... 3 cats not eating/listless, 2 dogs same, 1 dog with chronic pyometra (very long story, not good), 1 dog acutely not using back legs
today
doing fine; but supposedly we are going to have 7-12 inches of snow again tonight. (I'm very tired of snow now)
so far
Me too..snowing now *blowing hard to send storm south*
i do not like the sound of the dog not using his back legs...
Sure TO..fire away
plus the regularly scheduled appointments, which were mostly vaccines. oh, right, there was the dog that hurt her leg too.
jess be busy
those last 2 don't sound so good, jes
ac5/12 #2?
and de7?
oat tree seed
*oak..oops
ok smack me
ty
de+tooth root *****
yw..i missed that one too...teehee
ty jill
the chronic pyometra ended up being a euthanasia already. we'll see how the paralyzed dog goes; with any luck she'll feel better by the end of the weekend, since the owner did NOT eff around, got her in to the clinic within half an hour of the incident
again, just returning the favor
that's tough, jes.
jess ,i do not envy you..though here every time you go to a vet it is at LEAST $400.per visit minimum:((
good news is we made enough money today to buy a new washing machine to replace the 2 that are broken...
sigh.
that is one big carumba of a bill for an x-ray and blood work
clue for ou5 please
i think most of mine were in the $200 range, except the 2 that are hospitalized for the night
6pounds 5 ou*** baby boyt
boy
ty
here it is crazy..250 just to cremate a pat
and low ph food for cats..almost 2 dollars a tin
depends on the size of the dog, crossy. private cremation runs $140-$300 here.
though group cremation (no ashes returned) is only about $50.
sorryn to rant..i shall stop
can't blame the vet for the cost of the cat food, we pay out the ear for that stuff, and the company keeps raising the cost on us.
sorry, back now. Our youngest just called.
call Hill's/Science Diet and tell them to stop jacking prices up. we keep telling them, but no luck.
Sorry jes...sure know about that...have had several on kidney science diet and one on the diabetic diet.
I'd be happy to charge less for food, but kinda stuck on that.
I love Science Diet for my pets.. My sister told me to use it and it's made all of the difference in our dogs and cats. But it is expensive
Whoops...brb
you could drive down here instead of going locally, Crossy. Sounds like we charge less...though not sure that's gonna be a win for you with travel time and all...
not finding many words now; 55 left but I'll have to list
lol,jess,i would spend 2 days and 300 dollars in gas
but we'd only charge $200 for blood and rads! :D
gas here now is $1.15 per litre or $4.60 per gallon
hi everyone, just a quick pop in to see how everyone is doing
hey dawg :)
hi jes
ouch. you should buy gas while you're down here too then.
hi lbd
hi nef
just bitching about gasoline and how much vets charge lbd;)
it's only $3.20/gallon
i'd rather go to a vet than a human doc. way less in charges
yeah, but you need all kinds of special licenses to work on primates, dawg :P
just med me like a horse jes..bring on that pcp!! lol
lol, jes, but i know some real jackasses that should get a break!
right... i know just enough human med to know that the most common sedatives we use in horses give humans death.
my min pin and i had to take predisone, his cost me 1/4th the cost of mine, and they were the same pills!
pred should be dirt cheap, dawg.
mm,ill shall pass on death and the shoulder glove up my poop chute..;/
though there are some other steroids that have fewer side effects and (of course) cost 5-10 times as much
and on that note it is beddy bye time for crossy
niters crossy!
tc all and happy babbling
nah. i don't do rectal exams on non-livestock very often, crossy.
poof!
it wasn't that expensive, just thought it odd, that his was cheaper than mine.
sleep sweet, crossy. well-wishes to the missus and kitties.
nite nite crossy!
bye crossy
might have been name brand vs generic?
ty jess..super poof!...
prednisone is cheap, lbd.
nope, both generic, got them from the same pharmacy too.
well that's just weird then. i have no explanation.
*Someone* was making money then!
usually it's the other way 'round, as they are supposed to charge tax (at least in WA) on animal meds but not human.
Don't get me started on our pharmacuetical companies!
the pharmacist said it was insurance, i said then just fill it for the dog and we'll share! lol
huh. nice to know your insurance co is jacking prices up.
yeah, don't have either now, the dog or the insurance!
My other soapbox..insurance companies!
no more dog? :(
right now I'm really P.O.'d at insurance companies that I could just Spit!
i'm with you there, jilly
had to put him to sleep almost 12 years now. i still miss the little brat
Those of us in the medical field know the system is BROKEN!!
sadness
((dawg))
i think the only ones who don't think it's broken are the politicians and the insurance companies, jilly
so very true
oh, nad the pharmacuetical companies
oh, i'm sure they know it's broken, they just don't care because it's broken in the ins co's favor
*and
funny how we all know what the problem is...but no one listening!
that was a tough year, had to euthanize the poopster and then 6 months later, my mom died. but ya know, we all survive a little stronger if not a little sadder.
that's cus they have us over the barrel. what are we going to do without insurance or the pharm companies?
insurance companies have been making money hand over fist for the past 10 years by denying care to the insured. I'm so tired of them being "gate keepers" and saying that we can't have care
We had to put both our cat and dog down a year ago...it's really rough
yup
had a client in about a month ago on emergency and had to euthanize her cat. they'd just gotten home from a memorial for her cousin, and his mom had died like 3 days prior. she had a total break down in the office. :(
sucks when things go in waves likes that.
so much sadness
i think the politicians in DC need to take a cut in pay, that certainly would lower some of the deficit, then they can pay for their own healthcare too
it really does suck. But it really seems like things DO happen in threes
I'd like their healthcare plan!
geez, i bet the woman wanted you to euthanize her while you were at it. so much pain for her.
te6-21 please....thanks
talk about socialize medicine. We pay for their medical care at the BEST medical facilities!
number + high card, peach
count to *** + highest card value
yeah. she wasn't happy. (understatement much?)
Thanks so much, lbdawger and Jillyjill.
thanks, jilly
yw
well, my sister in MT wrote to Seator Baucus and told him to take a pay cut and get rid of the special insurance and he responded by saying that they hadn't had a COLA raise or any raise on pay or benies for 2 years.
bull pucky! that's the first thing they vote on each september!
Baucus is a waste!
I looked up the pay rates for the state folks here a bit ago, and was surprised by how low most of them were, actually.
i was expecting to be outraged, and just couldn't.
They're doing better than I am...retirement for life??!!
our state legislature only meets biannually, for 90 days. should they be paid a monthly salary and insurance for the full two years?
yeah; it didn't list benes, just base salary. but the salaries were not outrageous
Where does your sister live Nef?
well, enough of the spleen venting, i must head for my pillows. see you all tomorrow. good luck with the grid!
sleep sweet, dawg. and let me know when you need a new dog, i'll hook you up :)
we had a foster daughter about 10 years ago; friend of our dtr's who needed a "safe" home away from both parents who'd had a bitter divorce.... ANYWAY; she now works for the state of MN and her job was going to be cut; but they offered her a $4/hr cut in pay and no benefits. She took their offer (because she loves her job; plus is making headway in the job.
Niters dawg
thanks Jes, i'll keep you in mind.
Goodbye lbdawger! I will see you tomorrow in the log.
poof
JIlly, that's my sister in Missoula
niters, lbd
(or one of the 2 in Msla, that is)
ahhh, I do recall that now..
I have a full bro, a full sister, a half bro and a half sister all in Msla. I also have a sister and bro in Helena
Wow, no wonder you come out here!
And my sister/cousin in NW MN (I was raised by her mother, I've lievd with her longer than my "real" siblings; so I call her my sister too even though she's my cousin)
lived, that is; not lieved
I was born in Helena
interesting town. My sister has only lived there for about 10 years, max; my bro for the last 2 years
I've only visited there about 3 times but find it very intriguing
Come on out again!!
we were going to this past summer for a nephew's wedding and lbd and harpjane and I were talking about a get together; but DH got sick. :-(
I remember some discussion on that with harpjane. You should try agian this year, summers are wonderful here.
ah, must toddle off for a couple of tasks...bbl
Nice chatting with you Nef...
have a nice evening, jilly
bye, Jilly. We will talk about this again
May I please have a clue for ca7-32? Thanks
add double consonant and vowel to ca4 just above
Thanks so much, Unea.
yw and gnite *poof*
Sweet dreams, Unea.
nite unea

Does anyone have a clue for the an 7/28 word please?
Never mind!
I am done! I have fireworks! an7/28 was my last word
YAY, Min!!! WTG!!!
Seems pretty quiet here,but does anyone need a clue
Thanks Nef!
I'm struggling and trying to watch Ghost Stories at the same time as I work the grid.
In that case, I am off to bed then unless U want clues
nope, I'll do okay. You get to bed. Thanks for the offer.
evening all
* echo *
hi Pini
hiya Nef ;)
Was beginning to wonder if anyone was about...
it is lonely here tonight. Of course, it doesn't help that I haven't been very entertainng either
quiet on the western front?
You ok?
it says there are 92 online; but I often leave my grid on and open without being here....
I'm about- hopefully will be back in bed by the flip.
I do that, too, Nef...
Hi Kappy
I'm okay; just tired NS NOT CONCENTRATING
and hitting the worng keys a lot (sorry about yelling)
let me have another sip of wine
it's OK...understandable...
* pours another glass for Kappy *
* pours one for herself while at it *
* and one for Nef, too *
Hello Pinikula. :)
If I keep pouring, the flip could get interesting!
Hey Faux!
I suppose I would finish if I listed but I rely don't care at this point
really
(can help if needed/wanted)
how's it going, faux?
and if we drink it -- fast (since the flip is in 10 minutes!)
* drink fast and I'll pour you another, Nef *
* grin *
Getting sleepy kinda early!
I was getting there until I got a phone call...
How about you? That's an interesting avatar you have there.
mix it with an ambien and you will be OK
for the night...
and the next day
Hello all
Hi Jilli. :)
It's about how I've been feeling this week...we're right in the middle of admissions and faculty reviewers are driving me crazy!
hi jilli
Oh argh!
Drugs- just say yes.
hi faux and jilli
and Kaplan
Hi Nef. :)
Hi faux, pini, kap and anyone else here. I still have 18 left but gave up -- too tired already!
Hi Nef
Aw.
same here, jilli
I managed to finish this a bit ago. Still watching the fireworks. :P
I knew about 1/2 hour ago I wasn't going to finish and with 20 left I really don't care
congrats on finishing ;)
Thank you. :)
I was at the theatre today -- matinee of "ACloser Walk with Patsy Cline".
* momma said there
oops...
Oh I love Patsy Cline.
Well done, faux!
* momma said their be days like this, there's be days like this, my momma said *
The woman who played heree was amazing.
Thanks Jill. :)
a nice event, jilli?
"3 Cigarettes in the Ashtray"
*played her*
and the Shirelles! Anyone want a wine refill>
my typing goes kaflooie when I'm tired
"Crazy."
* passing the bottle *
It's a great day -- a fabulous buffet lunch before the play.
I saw the Mike Leigh film- Another Year. Did anyone see it and what do you think?
too tired. I'll have a virtual hang over in the AM
One minute to go here!
Not me
I'd fall asleep if I swigged from that bottle
Just a little one.
the longest minute...
A wee drop?
Icon theme today is Sidney Poitier as you may have noticed
nice, jilli
don't see your icon but I just saw him in that awesome movie with Tony Curtis- about escaping the chain gang...
Nary a wee dram
