112/55...
I'll have it on while babbling
we went to see The King's Speech Friday night, Jilli
loved it
Saw it on Wednesday -- loved it too
particularly interesting since I don't really remember much about him, and certainly not his early problems
I'd like to see the Social Network some time
that would not have been an easy part to play
I remember a lot about Edward VIII and Geroge VI (even George V)
oh, I don't even keep track of new movies, George is not a movie buff at all
I keep typing Geroge instead of George
having lived in England, you'd have been more aware
hi all
hi cathy
hehe.
hi cathy! :o)
I remember the Silver Jubilee of George V and Queen Mary from Shanghai days.
Hi cathy
love the rubik's cube icon, btw :-)
wow, what a memory you have Jilli
Well, it was a special occasion and I had a lttle thing published in the school magazine -- "Jubileeve in fairies?"
that's my 'standard' icon/avatar :o)
how long does it take you to complete?
ah, so you've been writing from a very early age, jilli
Yes, flosey!
I think I was 5 (maybe 6) when King George VI and Queen Elizabeth came to Canada - we saw them on the train as it passed through - I was so disappointed because she was not wearing a long gown! Just a street length type dress and hat - I expected her to look queenly
gonna go beddybye now -- goodnight all!...*poof*
night jilli
me too, good night all and oops, it's that lag time!
me too, good night all
haven't played with the 3x3x3 for ages now... usually ~50seconds I usually play with a 5 now -- 4 minutes... slow :o(
and night, jilli! night, flosey!
good morning everybody
Hi
{{herin}}
how are you?
((((((Ruby))))
How you?
enjoying some much-needed light rain. We've had a strange drought since December and without a little moisture, all the already-up bulbs won't do much and it will be a blah spring.
you're in the grid, missie, must be very well-connectied!
Yes. I ahve a kitty on me
I think Renap is a word
I agree
sinai
NOT a word!
I bought new cheap clothes today
but whoops anyway
where?
At a store that is in Aus. Big W it is called. It is part of the Woolworths Corp
reins
sorry, losing what little marbles I have left!
carefully, now
I shocked my mum and got a soft salmon pink jumper
why was she shocked?
Pink is not my colour
what is your usual color range?
Errr black and red and purple
I wear any shade of purple, magenta, whatever. I don't know if they are becoming, I just like them
when I worked, I had all my biz suits in variations of grey and black and then wore bright-colored silk shirts
and only needed black shoes, so traveling was easy
Pants are black with mix and match
I didn't wear pants for working at that time as I was the only woman in the industry and used that to my advantage
my new shoes are aresome
What did you do Ruby?
how high?
I was a sales engineer in the glass industry, dealt with architects, designers, construction companies and glass merchants
Ok
Not that high Ruby
I am very short, so had to go high
what color are the shoes?
morning all. Just loving the NA6/21......a wise saying your gran might make? Not the real definition, it's almost as good!!
LIZZZZZZZZZZZ
Ruby black of course
gd morning, lizmac! na6 hmmmm putting monkeys to work
Hi, Lady and Ruby.
Ruby:http://tinyurl.com/4uu2wfj these
I bought a pair of red-orange crocodile platform ankle-strap shoes, just because they were beautiful, but it is very hard to find the times to wear them. And my fgirl friend in Ascot said they were "tarty"
however, I don't think you can be tarty at my age!
hello babblers
Red orange is nice
how do you spell weeja (as in board)? isn't it ouija?
hello gort!
Ruby Tarty is ok Mutton dressed up as lamb is bad
never would I do that! hahah
never was much of a lamb!
the shoes sound diabolically awesome and I would wear them on every possible occasion
Correct, Gort, but alas as you know..it is not allowed in the grid.
Hello, All :-)
oh. thanks zoo
Hi ZOo and Gort
You do know that saying Ruby?
watcha herin
Lizmac, if you are still around..is the Na6/21 connected to the Na5/10?
I worked it out with a simple black sleeveless dress, black stockings , African beads and scraf to match. It was perfect
yes, I think so, frills around the neck, too young cloths
clothes*
Yes, it is letter-wise, but not meaning wise.
{{zzoozz}}
Also have the pr8 what does the other 8 start with please?
Ok thank you :-)
((Ruby)) :-)
I just had a thought of jazzing up a top
just found an awesome mi6/24 on my own!
take the end off for a 5 if you haven't already...
it is easier for you, herin, because you're tall. Is had when you're short, not to look shorter
Hello, Hurshy :-)
Halfway, time to get dressed. BBL
ty hurshy
Hi Hurshy
hi all
Ruby what makes me giggle at the moment is the 1960's fashion returns worn by stick models
Stick models..LOL
and the stuff didn't look good in the 60's!
The clothes they are showing are for people like Christina Hendricks but worn on people like Kate Moss
nm found the other 8.

She is sitting on my shoulder
nvm, i got it, latin pl
I think that is cos cat reads Babble too. Mine does same thing and eats my hair meanwhiles. Probably cos I am fixed in one place until that black screen comes up.
I must stop typing cos. I can spell.

Hi all. The wheel fell off my wheelchair last night and I am soo sore, but no broken bones, Thank Gd! But I feel like I was beaten up.
am so sorry mich
HI Mich
Hi, carleekat
Mich my friend did pass
mains
Thanks Carlee, I didn't make a fuss when it happened so everyone here thinks it was no big deal (also my niece started crying so I wanted her to be ok) no they tell me not to make a big deal!
oh no herin
I am so sorry Herin, are you OK?
Carlee she had CF she didn't get her transplant in time. Yes I am fine. It is just sad
She was in Israel
People with CF live longer now then they once did, but it is so hard when the lungs do fail. There aren't enough organ donors in Israel.
am sorry carlee
says* carlee
No there isn't Mich that is why her Husband and family did that piece to promote donation
is 5:30 am
I guess with her and NB passing makes me realise that we really don't need our organs when we die
It was a great piece, but it takes a lot to change people. Also I don't know exactly where Jewish law stands with organ donation. I am now very motivated to find out. I have a close friend who needs a hear/kidney translpant. They will do a kidney transplant but all the potential donors have not worked out.
4 letter word bigggining with t and ending in e
MIch I don't know either
Carlee it is a Sunday go to bed and snuggle a kitty or three :D
I have had 2 kidney transplants in the last 17 years and I am very grateful to all the selfless people who donate organs
I will ask my Rabbi today and let you know. I don't think I am healthy enough to be a donor for most of my organs (kidneys, lungs) but my eyes and heart should be OK.
Mich I have heard that cadaver skin is useful too. Though that thought freaks me out slightly
i woke up...will go back to bed in a bit
That's fantastic Joem, were they live donors? Have you met them? I have a few friends/acquaintances that have donated kidneys.
I don't know why skin should freak us out more than any other body part. In jewish law the issue is on respect of the dead. Autopsies are a complete NO NO, so I'd have to find out where organ donation is on the spectrum, I would imagine if it were done in a respectful way....? I really don't know.
That is it really is a matter of respect
No, both were road accident victims. I did not meet them but wrote to the families. only know 1 was 38 with 2 children, the other was just a 21 year old lad.
On the other hand, there is the whole ehtical question that "My Sister's Keeper" brings up. I had a friend that when her daughter was diagnosed with leukemia said that she was sorry she hadn't had more kids so the potential donor pool could have been bigger.
Joem that is wonderful for you and a gift from those families
I would imagine it is a comfort for the families.
I am adopted. I know that it isn't the same thing but it still is a selfless gift
Why isn't amnio sticking?
am listening to music
Hawaii 5-0 here.
Look again Herin, amino isn't in there, it's a phantom. I keep seeing opal and jasmine. At least they are pleasant phantoms
Off for a bit, if I eat breakfast this late, I can call it lunch. BBL.
No it is a word that is in Morewords
Amnio
isn't amnio an abbreviation?
Yes but it is in the dictionary as a seperate word
ah
It is a noun plural
i have been tryin Jain but of vourse that's a proper noun
However, it won't take herin which is a medieval hat
Does that mean I am a phantom?
ENABLE pretty much does as it pleases.
HI dear BR
no herin is there but the ditionary won't accept
so you can't be a phantom!
Hello.
Phantom: cacodemomania
How have you been
oh what sophisticated phantoms you have BR - mine are plasma and napalm
Hanging in .....
Good
My phantoms are sometimes the products of delusions.
suspect mine are too *grin*

"knowledge acquired through meditation and study as a means of reaching Brahman"
jn is a common babblet? I have bee playing 3 years and this is the first time I have seen it
you will, crossy, you will! I had to wait for years to finally be able to enter atlatl in a grid.

UGH. wet dog smell....dread

so does that mean you and the wet dog on the couch for the TV?
not until tonight, but yes, sprite. phone off the hook, no internet, nothing. in the ZONE
morning
sounds lovely! And we use big towels to get the dog dry as soon as possible. Most of the smell comes from being wet for a longer time, I believe.
good morning feather! speaking of feathers, just found the HATED enemy of the fish in my pond....

Morning all. I haven't seen any of the Oscar nominated movies (as usual). I do watch the show though, for the dresses.

I don't think God will ever be pissed off at a prayer. Have a good one, Trif ;)
How dare there be snow?
there was a GREAT saturday night live skit years ago, in which jesus came to visit a woman who was driving jesus CRAZY with stupid prayers like "don't let the rice get sticky" and "Help Luke and Laura get away from Frank Smith" --- it was SO FUNNY
i'm not starting off well with this grid
howdy feathers
lol Trif!
hi crossy
I truly believe that love is the greatest force in the universe, with humour a close second.
there are some odd ones, weed...
HELLO
HELLO YOURSELF
...and I poof. good solving, all! I will tell God you say hi!
please do Trif. *hugs*
I said hello earlier and no one responded, hence the caps
sorry peri, didn'tn see it, deep in grid
IT WORKED
well I responded, periwinkle, and I saw some other responses as well
lol kap!
no sprite, you responded to Molly
lol... or not. The others I saw were for featherbee, I see... and my response isn't showing. Well, hello periwinkle, welcome to the grid.
oh and a big shout and and props to all those who recently joined our babble folding at home team!! we now have 29 members and are growing! for those that wish to be active in front line cancer research, read my profile for details!
we are doing well indeed, crossy
i keep wanting to do that crossy, but keep forgetting
Morning Peri. Mea cuppa. I haven't finished my first coffee yet.
oh and i have a 150,000 point certificate to those babble-folders who wish for a copy
I am not doing well with the vowel letters in the middle column
future certificates will be offered at 500,000 increments
on5/14, io4/4, an5/10 peri
what are those certificates for, crossy? And hi dan
ty dan, need the on5 and the an5 looking...
ty dan, need the on5 and the an5 looking...
just for a bit of fun, milestones are all,a little something you can hang on the wall as a thank you
lol, i'm covered in little boys. one resting on my right arm as a pillow as i type, the other squished up against my side. ah, the typing must have giggled my arm, nick moved.
ah ok, well I am glad to be doing this and don't need a thank you. Will wait until the million ;)
And guess who else will be staying up for the Oscars??!!!
how sweet featherbee
you, movie my man, and hi :)
I don't see why they do the Oscars on Sunday night.
Greetings all
lol, unless i can recruit about 50 more babblers,a million will be a year from now:/
cute, weed
it will grow, crossy. I have faith :)
not seeing the on5 and an5 from the middle column :(
(If anyone but Cross gets this clue, I will faint) The on 5 is the last part of the name of a Canadian band featuring Serge Fiori.
got it, Molly, thanks. Google is a wonderful thing :)
different clue please?
Hard to get anything but the right hit when you do a search on Serge. : D
exactly :)
The name of the band is also the name for a keyboard.
Kap,your icon is making me giggle.
OK
had to google it myself actually, there is a band or 2 i do not know;)
morning, all!
now only one, crossy
Molly, someone last night asked if it was a picture of me!
You weren't there- I thought you would know Yetta.
you mean it's not, kap? ;-)
hi uusue
so, Dad got himself completely dressed this morning, including socks and shoes!
wow uusue, a milestone!
I'm getting all kinds of weird words with my monkeys.
absolutely, especially as he will need to be able to do this after I leave...
yaa for uu,s da!
good morning Babblers :)
Hi nono
Sue your dad is making remarkable progress
he's already doing pretty much everything else by himself except driving (which I suspect will have to wait a little longer, probably longer than he would like)
I bet he feels good about it too, uusue. It is like conquering back some piece of yourself, or it was like that for me, anyway.
Hi, nono!
hi Nanette!
He does, sprite. It is good to see him happy.
Hi all....clue please for as5/10 please??
hi Flask, I don't have it but will help looking for it
hi Flask
thanx Sptiye!
as5/10 yoga pose
hi all, need to get ready for church, can I have a clue for the left column I and the middle A for nbt
thx, dan!
Great news about your Dad, Sue. Kap, SOMEONE ASKED IF THAT WAS A PICTURE OF YOU???
3 syllables with same vowel, Flask :)
YES THEY DID!
i5 - i + not yours but ****
Oh Dan thanx....but I dont do yoga!
perhaps with tongue in cheek, Molly :-)
hi sue

Got he as???/
sorry don't understand!

Flask: a + healthy of mind, change last vowel into another one.
she 'Got the as", kaplan... just a small typo...
lots of phantoms for me today - ermine, asinine...
stats on the lone a in the middle column?
ugh...looking like this one is stuffed with babblets:(
an5/10
yes it is, crossy. A happe reunion ;)
good morning/afternoon, everyone :)
morning nan :)
howdy cybernan
an + don't forget the stamp!
hi Nan
so all the N's I find come from the middle N and not the bottom one :-(
ok, nm, I finally found one, now nbs and nbt :-)
the vowelly one, uusue, na4/4, comes from the bottom one
How can a five letter word have three syllables?
as do the plural grandmas
Ouija is a word. I still can't find that an5.
indian bread and pl
Molly: when one syllable is only one letter long.
Back again, full of home made soup - yum!
the indian bread comes from the other N, crossy. Both.
hi Glantarell
crossy is doing up a home made chicken soup and i am also doing up a jumbo rack of honey garlic ribs for tonight;)
This is asinine.
(everyone types asinine only to find it's not in the grid)
the an5 is a Latin plural of an an4, if that's any help
Sprite did my clue for an5/10 help at all??
can I come for dinner, then, crossy?
Thank you got it- NBT
oh Flask, sorry. I didn't ask for a clue, I gave Kaplan the stats he asked for.
ty uu,was great help;))
Duh, it's not a word from the English language.
sure thing sprite;) dinner is at 7 p.m EST
oh sorry!
lovely! I'll do what I can to be there in time! *Scotty, do your thing! Now!*
I keep forgetting that Enable indiscriminately allows some foreign words and not others.
but thanks anyway, Flask :)
incidentally, I found an eo6 that doesn't have an ae equivalent. Violates my sense of symmetry.
that'll teach me to mind my own business.....lolol
ribs will have peaches and cream corn with it and a baked tater with sour cream, chives and of course bacon bits
lollllll nah, I should have specified my answer a bit more.
;-)
Whoa Cross, you've got fresh peaches and cream corn at this time of year?
Molly, I think that is discriminant, not indiscriinant
sounds lovely crossy -- can't wait to get home and have ribs that aren't doused with hot pepper sauce!
doesn't Babble help us to have supple minds, uusue! ;)
no,sadly it is canned nibblets but still tasty
mine is so supple it is mushy
morning all. crossy, this one's for you
http://baconfestchicago.com/
Kap, how about "whatever the hell it feels like allowing"?
hi TOwl :)
hi spritey!
sounds about right, Molly
hi, TO!
works for me. Say goobye to Yetta for now.
crossy is checking out baconfest....

gee, p words are not usually this hard to find
I don't like this grid -- all the letters are in the wrong place!
it needs another e
let's shake the grid a bit, nan
lol sprite, guess what is on the stove as we speak that is dues to be turned into bacon bits for tonights taters;))))
roflollll crossy!
crossy never buys pre-made bacon bits;(
Kap did you just get referred to as a "he"?
i think the logo is neat actually
The logo is cute, TO (for those who are not familiar with Chicago, it is a slight baconification of the Chicago city flag). And it's not until April 9th - must be a lot of bacon lovers in Chicago!
though the end is near...sigh..on the first i am due for my first colesterol test;(
baconification. Wow I love the word!
then there is baconify
some like carlee have baconitis
And have fits of baconepsy if you serve them bacon.
indeed
Oh.......haven't had breakfast yet, and you're making me hungry! Morning all!
morning Champ
and there is baconessance
Hey Champ
howdy champ
hi, Champ!
hi Champ
unfortunately we can only have uncured bacon at home (my SO, who has celiac disease as well as other food sensitvities, is sensitive to nitrates)
baconism?
not that there is anything wrong with uncured bacon, of course - it just tends to be pricier than the regular stuff...
Good day snowbunnies!
hi, scrabs!
hi Scrabs
hi Scrabs
hey scrabs!
I read the newspaper, ate yogurt and then came right here.
morning scrabs
Soon I must go into town to buy groceries.
Me too, but didn't eat first...getting hungry...

hi welki and nono
48 to go . . . grabbing more coffee -- back in a mo
that 'movement' ending is very rewarding though
Alright, welki, but be prepared for rejection.
hi all
Hi Boobear
hi boo
hi boo
hi, boo!
hi Boobear
hi Boo
how's the grid today
lots of babblets, Boobear.
Not too bad but I just started. I have found 48 quickly.
my nick from another era is in here (just like the bird and our blue***** babbler!) it's on one of my license plates and you'd be surprised how many people ask me if i'm a recovering addict .. they see the addicting drug instead!
that is really sad, welki,lol
i see spasm and jasmine
so I see that today's icon theme is unusual computer mice; I googled images of computer mice just for laughs. People are strange.
me too
Okay Welki, I am laughing at people seeing the drug for the bird.
wow, sprite, thanks for pointing to the "movement' ending!!
good stuff huh :) I love silly things like this. Did you see my computer mouse icon? It is a cutey.
yvw Une!
getting breakfast...bbl...
enjoy, Champ
I did, sprite. It's one of the more sensible ones :-)
jillibus's is a bit macabre, but funny. And some had fake animals inside, like a huge spider... nice gift for someone working to desensitise their arachnaphobia.
Oh, I haven't seen jilli's yet. I decided to turn off safe search (since I am, after all, an adult). Dear me.
Back from phone call.
molly, you should see the trackmarks *lol*
most of the sex oriented mice are not funny. But I must admit I smiled at the G-spot mouse.
in 6, please?
What does everyone think of my mouse then?
LOL movieman, yes, that is the same as jilli sports today. Very funny. And furry.
in6...in+ the beginning of a fabric that ends in ex that was popular in the 80's
Doh...ends in dex
it's literally a mouse!!!!!
TY, Molly
clue for am 7
howdy scwabby
crossy looks wonderful in that fabric
Hi Crossy
I like it, movieman :)
lol molly -- what do you mean the 80's? you still find it in swimsuits and in stretch jeans, etc.
Every time I think of that fabric I think of Eddie Murphy as Buddy Love.
ok, I can't help myself. Steampunk mouse in icon (may have to refresh to see).
crossy wiggles his spandex tushie at the chog
Boobear: am + what you scribble down to remember, insert a vowel.
Silly boy!
I was thinking of shirts and pants Nan.
lol movieman, reminds me of when my 2 year old granddaughter looked at my wireless mouse and asked "whats that?", I said a mouse and she said "No, whats that?" I think she was looking for a real mouse.
lolllll uusue, that is great!
Haha, SS

he is, crossy, and you look darn sexy in one! :)
ohhhh dear .. wrong dad .. so sorry, uusue
lol @ Mrs crossy
I have hit a wall with 102 to go. I am going to FB to take turns in word games.
No problem :-) although I don't think he wants to be on video.
for inspiration, Srabcs?
eek, i cannot believe i got you confused ... now, THAT is how chog kerfuffles start!
<-- clearly needs more coffee.
poor welki, lol. Don't feel too bad, it looks like uusue isn't mad at you :)
I have thought of taking a photo or two of him with my phone (the only camera I have) but don't know how he would feel about that.
Heavens, no (especially as I have no idea whose dad you are thinking of). I am no stranger to confusion :-)
acck! the mrs took a phone pic of me and my bike shorts and is threatening to put it on the net unless i pay her extorsion fee!
(have someone take a pic of the two of you together ... he probably wouldn't mind that) -- and thank you so much for forgiving my stupid mistake
crossy, ask if you are allowed to pay in natura. And ask mrs crossy to send me the pic regardless, grin.
Ooh, let's see, crossy! :-)
lol,ill pay her"fee" lol
I also thought your Dad was ill sue, he was wasn't he?
give your da my best uusue thell him if he does well ill send him a strip-o-gram

When a boss gives someone a job....that's a clue

chick, have you played before? Up above chat is a "help" page, then the next place I tell newbies to check out is down below the grid is a "friends of Babble area. You will find AngelSongs' Babble Page down there
that is for the sa6/24 - leaving now
Wht am I doing wrong Nef?
chick, what do you mean, "what are you doing wrong?"
U said that I should check the chat help page
chick, I said that IF you were new here; these are good sources of help in how to play the game. I didn't mean they were chat references. I mentioned the chat as a reference to where to find the games Help page
Oh srry lolz.... I am not new tho...
i also have a beginner's guide in my profile, just click the blue B icon.
hi feather. I didn't know that you had a guide in your profile too! :-)

I think I probably will, nef; will make final decision after we see ortho surgeon on Thursday
never seen an advert before
what's he allergic to, car.ee? Benedryl is first drug of choice for allergies (besides removing the allergen)
ty advertisement
strange...
hi car
yes it is
He has been on Benadryl since yesterday, taken every 4 hours. He still has hives even on the Benadryl. They are from his face all the way to his feet. I have NO IDEA what he is allergic to. He also has a horrible cough.
OBJECT To list as many words of the highest point value as you can find among the random assortment of letters in the cube grid. PLAYING Search the puzzle board for words of four letters or more. When you find a word, add it to your list using the form below the puzzle. Words are formed from adjoining letters. Letters must join in the proper sequence to spell a word. They may join horizontaly, vertically or diagonally to the left, right, up or down. No letter cube, however may be used more than once within a single word. TYPES OF WORDS ALLOWED The only words that are allowed are those that can be found in the Enable dictionary. You may look for any type of word - noun, verb, adjective, adverb, etc. Plural nouns are acceptable, as are all verb tenses. Words within words are also allowed. (e.g. revolt and volt) TYPES OF WORDS NOT ALLOWED Proper nouns, abbreviations, contractions, hyphenated words and foreign words that are not in the Enable Dictionary. SCORING AND WINNING Every night at midnight CT, the day's puzzle closes. The high score list for the day will then appear showing everyone's total score. SCORING Each tile has a point value. To determine the score for a word, the point-value for the length of the word is multiplied by the total letter values for the word: 4-letter word = 1 x Points 5-letter word = 2 x Points 6-letter word = 3 x Points 7-letter word = 4 x Points 8-letter word = 5 x Points 9-letter word = 6 x Points Example: Word: BABBLE Points: 3 x (3+1+3+3+1+1) Total: 36 pts. The winner is the player who has the highest point total when the puzzle closes. THINGS TO REMEMBER * The same word found in two different areas of the puzzle may not be used. * The "Qu" cube counts as two letters. * Points are awarded for both the singular and plural forms of a noun
car.ee, Bendryl will make most people sleepy (except ADHD kids; hyperactivity may increase with them)
My no likey advertisments.
He is managing. Just hanging out on the couch.
I just feel so bad for him and he looks SO uncomfortable.
So
I don't think they are from Dr God...cut and paste job methinks
me neither. car.ee; if he's been on benedryl every 4 hours, and no help; have you taken him in to the c\doctor yet?
Try oatmeal baths for itching and calamine lotion. Sarna lotion is very good for itching, but costs a whole lot of $$
Talked to the oncall pediatrician last night. He said I was doing everything right and that the hives could last 4-5 days. He did give me his cell phone number in case Dylan begins to have any trouble breathing. when he was coughing so much last night I got very nervous.
Did the oatmeal bath too.
LOTS of oatmeal baths! not just one or two
I use Arbonne Herbal Diaper Rash Cream...the stuff is awesome for so many things. Unfortunately, it does make him look very pasty!
Yes, I will continue the baths.
Sometimes a baking soda paste on hives helps
As a mom, I am just frustrated by not being able to help him more. I was up in the middle of the night with him massaging his feet because they were itching so bad. : (
Oh! TY Cherry!
hi all...my mother had hives lately (no known allergies, but she's been under great stress)..dr told her to take Claritin and Zantac (they work on different histamines).
The MD did not recommend anything other than Benadryl. Do you think I should call him and ask him about it?
allergic reactions have 4 levels: rash or hives, swelling of mucus membranes (puffy eyes and lips, etc) swelling around mouth and tongue and then respiratory collapse. If his eyes and lips are puffy, take him in
depends on the dr...with some docs, if it's not their idea, they poo poo it
OK Nef. I will keep an eye on it. There are hives around his eyes and mouth but not inside.
Poor Kid!!!
The MD is also in his office today. I am thinking I may take him in.
and Poor MOM
whats caused the reaction car
no, there won't be hives in his mouth, Just generalized swelling
I have no idea Kazz.
I'd take him in.
I think it is related to his cough, but I am not sure
right, anaphalaxis is unpredictable..keep a close eye...can't go wrong with taking him in...this must be so stressful for you
can you give benedryl to kids?
yes, rur
My Mom "spider senses" are tingling.
i bet
Yes, ruru. They have Children's Benadryl.
benedryl makes some kids hyper though so be careful
The last time my "spider senses" went off, he was in the hospital for 3 days.
hi DR! it's been so long...yep, it always winds my kids up
eyes and mouth sounds like he touched something - sucked it nd then rubbed his eyes
i'd ask the dr about that..
I've had anaphylaxis and it happens fast. The severe itching on his feet worries me
I would take him in if it was Jakester
Hi Krista!
clue for am 7 please
that sounds like the wise thing to do to me too
I just asked Dylan if I could take him to the doctor and he said "yes". Poor thing!
Kazz, it is from head to toe.
Do it, car.ee. This sounds pretty bad if you've treated it for 24 hours without improvement
I am going to go call the doctor. BBL.
I think he needs cortisone
good luck
Just take him in
let us know Car
chickenpox???
good luck car andd i hopd Dyland gets better soon
Yes, car, good luck and best wishes to him!

Your welcome. I never get the chemistry or currency clues. I figure other people don't either.
I get a not found in dictionary for that one molly
Good morning Cos.
thanks molly
the j's are hard...may have to view Lickety's for those soon
Sorry Nan, extra h.
Hey again. Dylan is going to see the doctor @ 2:20 today.
oh, whew, car! Hope all turns out OK.
Great!
no -- I was thinking the comparative suffix was er, but it can't be
Oh good Car. I read over the chat. Sounds like he is needing something more than Benadryl. Have you tried the topical stuff?
good - i hope that it turns out okay - how old is he
Here is another question...do y'all think I can let Zach go to his friends birthday party today?
Hello all, how is the grid?
Molly, I am using topical rash cream, oatmeal baths and the benadryl.
I'd want to keep him still and unexcited.
Zach has absolutely NO signs of being sick, but I would hate to contaminate others.
Unless it's chicken pox, car, I would think it wouldn't be communicable, so I would think Zach would be ok. I don't suppose you can decide after seeing the doc...
Oh, sorry...he's not the sick one. I'd let him go, personally. Are hives ever contagious?
goood morning molly, car, kaz, jilly, krista et al
Zach goes to his party before Dylan sees the MD
can the dicision on the party wait till Dylan seen the doc - then you could ask if he thought it was okay
Hi Cos!
can't think it's anything contagious...most of the time they never know what causes hives anyway
oh -- hesitation suffix! -- got it - ty molly
hi cos!
The party is for Zach's best friend from the town we moved from. He is so excited to go....
maybe can you call the kids mom and ask her what she thinks?
hate to ask for help with 4's, but...the first two ji 4's are killing me...any clues?
Well that is the other thing...the kid's mom is pregnant....
j + 3 vowels
car -- you can't send illness to a pregnant woman's home!
see from your post it cant - the only thing that can look like hives is chickenpox as somebody else mentioned and i think it might be safer not too as you have just said she is pregnant - but its difficult to dissappoint your kids
"hives are not contagious, but the triggers of hives can be contagious" (Google)...chicken pox are blisters...really don't look like hives, IMO
3 vowels. Well, that really narrows it down :)
I think calling the mom and seeing what she thinks would be a good idea - don't want to show up and then hear you shouldn't have...
It definitely isn't chicken pox.
haha, yes Kaplan
I did just talk to her and she seemed fine. I was asking if Zach could stay a bit longer if I run over at the MD's office.
i am off for a bit - need to debug the brain - bbl
ah, sounds good, car. Should be her call, I think.
bye, kazz!
Bye Kazz.
Got one of them so far, thanks Flosey.
Not knowing what it is, I would not bring him to a pregnant woman's house. That's just me.
if it hasn't beem diagnosed by an md I think you should play it safe and keep him home. There are several roseola type rashes that are contagious.
Oh, if the mom is pregnant, I would be extra careful.
Molly...I am really tending to agree with you. It would be the RIGHT thing to do and keep Zach away.
an 6 anyone?
I am so confused.
an + mantra+ t** one on
I once took my daughter to a play suspecting she had chickenpox- and she did- and it was wrong of me ...but we had these tickets...it is years ago, and I still can't believe I did it
My reasoning was, well, what if she broke out with chickenpox while we were already at the play- I'd still be out...
thank you
but then part of me is wondering if I am over reacting and it may just be hives.
**wags judgemental finger at Kaplan**
Ty Krista
I tried to pretend I didn't know. This was really ethically challenged of me.
yw
an5,12?
We had tickets to "42nd Street)
sounds like Japanese type of cartoon art
am + *evermind +top**ry
My ethics crumbled in the face of musical theater.
Car, any chance it's poison ivy?
well, if it was 42ND STREET.....
Nope. Classic hives.
See what I'm saying...
hi - just read back a little - car have you talked to him about touching something or maybe walking thru smoke from someone burning trash? Did he eat somethimg? Drink? All over is very extreme.
lol
Well, other than some new something he's used, soap, cream, etc. or something he got into outside...I"m stumped.
New laundry soap?
no new soaps, creams, shampoos, detergents.
It may have been a spider bite.
New clothes that haven't been washed?
And did the doctor suggest aspirin or some other pain killer to tame the itch?
did he eat pineapple, mango or anything like that?
is he allergic to bees?
But what he thought was a bug bite may have been a hive.
nope.
nope.
WE eat those fruits all the time anyway.
i used to be able to eat mangoes... til one day i ate one and my entire lip swelled three times... so it could be someting new
I think we are all stumped Car
Trif has that too Cos!
i hope the dr figures it out! :(
all over suggests something systemic, like food, rather than something he came in contact with (but I have no specialized medical knowledge, am just thinking out loud)
funny, cos...my Mom was thinking that's what caused hers at first..they came out after she ate a mango..but have happened a few times since then, sans mango..stress, methinks....I agree with my armchair degree, uusue...not like a contact reaction at all
I am sure that in usual form, the doctor will say, "yup, it's hives" and send us home.
Did he cut thru a neighbors yard where it had just been sprayed? Did a friend offer him a new food or treat? Have to cinsider lots of things.
hopefully he will give you meds
clue for an 6
we still have a foot of snow on the ground here.
if benadryal doesnt help then maybe he needs something stronger
an + mantra + t** one on, Boobear
I wouldn't take that for an answer Car. His reaction to whatever it is...is too severe.
that's it - he's allergic to snow! (sorry...)
i agree with molly... be aggressive if he just shrugs it off
first tr 6, please?
could be allergic to benadryl
I bet lots of people are " allergic" to snow- especailly if they haveto shovel it
could be hoot.. i am allergic to benadryl.. gives me hives
You don't make peace with your friends, you make peace with your enemies. That is a pun for an6.
nan, old roman coin
And I agree with everybody else - insist on an answer, not just a treatment. Allergic reactions can worsen with repeated exposure, and you need to know what it is.
but with hives, they usually just treat them because sometimes they never come back...if they do, then they start looking into cause..it's just too difficult to pin down from one occurrence...at least that's what I've seen over the years
Allergic to benadryl. Now isn't THAT ironic.
thats what my doc said molly lol
that makes no sense. Could it be an additive in the benadryl, like the coloring?
Please - I am allergic to aspirin!
monkeyed all around 3 related ideas for that first tr 6, but not coming up with it
*don't know the coin
krista..I am not getting your clue
that's wild, cos!
i have a tr6 its a plural of a tr5
and lots of times it's not the meds but the additives
Try an + h**inid + cherry p**, Boo.
have that one too, cos -- looking for the first one
It's like in the Trible- the story of Tr*** and the Whale- B
Sorry, that is a deranged clue.
OK. I just spoke to my mom...a retired doctor. She said that it should be fine for Zach to go to the party as he has absolutely no symptoms. I will also bring antibacterial hand cleanser with me in the car and have him clean his hands with it. Then I will come back and get Dylan and take him to the pediatrician's office.
lol, kap, and thx!
But it worked...love it!
Kaplan I thought it was a fabulous clue!!!!
You got it???????????
Handy mom!
Well geez, you should have called Mom first. :)
I did, Kap - deranged works for me :-)
Just needed her to get home from church!
I live with her!
I think tribles were from star trek, but didn't watch it that much and certainly wouldn't know the title of any particular episode
nothing to do with tribbles or star trek, nan, just a twisted clue :-)
that's what I thought at first, Nan...the trouble with Tribbles...
OK. I am off to get dressed, take Zach to this party, and then Dylan to the doctor. I will check back in later with an update for those who are interested. I cannot thank you all enough for your input and support this morning.
good luck with everything, car, and do let us know how everybody is!
Hope your day gets easier!
some days it ain't easy being a mom

no wonder I didn't know who he was. Rock is not my bag. I prefer something with a complexity of harmony and counterpoint attached to a recognizeable melody.
Cyber, youtube and listen, quite complex actually...

Yes Jill, there is nothing "un-complex" about his music.

And his melodies are very recognizable.
how am i supposed to know a word that starts with jn ?
sounds like a job for the monkies
It's evil Cos. Very evil.

Years ago I changed my mind about judging music; I was griping about Rap, my music teacher friend let me have it....it was great for teaching rhythm
J + evil grandma

Well, I utilize every kind of music I can to reach my teens in youth ministry....even when I'm gritting my teeth...lol

well, I must take a break bbl
Good afternoon, Babblers! I just made some rockin' delicious pesto. Recipe is in my profile if anyone is interested.
Gotta agree with ruru. Hate rap music. It's like Dr. Seuss getting funky in the ghetto.
don't like the culture of rap music either.. too violent and to abusive
True dat.
Judi - do you do it in a blender?
the pesto
I used my food processor, hoot.
ok ty - sounds good
I also have a lot of trouble with people blasting rap music on the street as they drive by at 1:00 in the morning and wake me up
Can't imagine "doing it" in a blender
Well, any music blasting at 1:00 a.m. (or any other time) is obnoxious.
the blades would scare me
lol
lol ouch
A blender should only be used as a sex toy by Superman.
talk about pulling a bobbittt
Judi understood.
wackos!
the only setting to use is whip I guess
Lois Lane: uh Superman.. what are you doing with that blender?
I'm ignoring you ru
lol ru
LOL
Me too. *giggle giggle*
Superman to Lois: relax Lois it's a squeezeinart
I don't suppose it would be a good time to mention that I also have a Juiceman.
ROFL
:D
And that the food processor is part of the Juiceman.
Good heavens. My kitchen is really an S&M dungeon!

Hi, Nef!
I haven't seen it either Cross. But from what I've read, it's the "higher quality" of film that is nominated.
has car.ee been back on in the past 1-2 hours?
don't think so, nef
okay.
you know you have seen a good movie, when you step out of the theatre and just for a little bit everything seems less real than what you just saw,a little fuzzy round the edges..then reality comes crashing back in and real life begins again and you wish for just a moment that you could recapture the love, the drama,or the victory against unbearable odds that that a really good movie can deliver...oops time for crossy meds,i am rambling again
nice, crossy!
wife says i get the verbal trotts sometimes hehe
ok, 8 left, all t's. Time for more grading.
not a fan of this grid today.
this grid has evil pretentions
nowhere near one of the worst though
it looked really promising when i first looked... got the pr 7/8 right off.... but since then, slowwwwwwwww. lol
i mean pr 7 and pr8
no,not even close, still i am almost half way and must take my victories where i can find them
those were my first 2 also cathy
hi all
yeah a good start.. then the wheels fall off part way through lol
lol
they fell off and rolled away
i wanna start the next one!!! *stamps feet*
me too!!
howdy t&C
hi-ho
i found that wordfamous.com helped a lot though
and lickety's page
don't want to get too excited or anything, but in 2 words time i'll have hit half way.... and.. get this.. .i've only been looking at it, on and off, for 12 hours.
i didn't use a list today.
i wouldnt be able to get much past half way without it usually
the jn words i would never have gotten
surprising what you can do without it...there didn't used to be lists when babble started
and i get a lot from the clues people give in the chat
and those jn words were there to trick us.
i only started playing in 2005
Cathy22w what a coup!! that averages 80 words about every half day. In 24 hours you should be finished!! That works.
see? you are beholding pure....genius. lol
/me looks around (.. ) ( ..) (" ) ( ") ... where? ;p
funny.
Lots of french words in the grid today des faux amis.
vraiment? zut alors... i didn't even consider that.
Did you start this grid in 2005 bodz? It will take me 6 years to finish it.
makes me wonder what the full list of words babble uses looks like
Well, we look for words where we find them cathy.
lol stidg
lmao
I enjoy not playing with a list, actually.
i start off trying to find all the ones i can.. use a list when i get stuck.. i do like to finish whatever i start
I'm trying to get over this need to finish.
Gran Mere. Lovely icon picture.
I figure I should be half-assed like I am about everything else.
lol
Perfection is so boring.
Kap, consistency is the spice of life.
No it isn't!
i did see the fireworks yesterday...that was fun.
help with either na6 please
Ah warmer weather. When the windows are open and I can hear all the loud neighborhood rugrats and the yippy dogs.
grannyism
I used to always have to finish... now I just enjoy what I find and the company
and nation spelt wrongly
ty Bods
i had the windows opened today...was nice to feel the fresh air through the house.
Er- can you put the actual suffix in your clue or is that a taboo?
sorry bodz
I could say "Clew"or "tabu" couldn't I.
I love the fresh air. The noise I could do without. Now the kids are barking at the dogs.
And the trees are climbing up the cats, and all's world with the right.
what suffix? whats a suffix?
the idea suffix?
ok down to 8 left
When I am feeling evil, I want to find out what time these people put their loud kids to bed, so I can then blast Edgar Winter from my windows.
yeah...the tweets are birding, too
Today our fresh air has snowflakes in it. Snow on the ground. Slick porches and roads. But! news is we have a new Lab puppy 15 weeks old.
contempt breeds familiarity.

Breeds are familiarly contemptable.
Too many broths spoil the cook.
jeez, I step out for a minute and you all go bananas on me. Shape up!!! :-)
I just emailed my neighbor and told her Jake wanted to know why all they silly girls were screaming...

I think she had a girl scout sleep over.. there are 10 screaming 8 yr olds in her back yard
screaming is what silly girls do best

yeah for new puppies !
*wanders off to do other things for a bit*
I remember the screaming girl parties...

my faculty member called and we talked for 78 minutes about my paper!!! in addition to feeling VERY much validated and supported by this person, I am also now much panicked by all the changes I need to make... have just cleared my schedule up to the point at which the paper actually gets turned in.
Stid, stick with validated. Toss the panic. The rest of this will play out just fine.
great news, stid! I know the changes can be daunting, but it will be a much better paper for it.
LOL thanks Molly!
*Extra choclits for Stid for doing such a good job*
i actually reflected to her that, while I still think this paper is essentially a waste of my professional time (I won't ever use this paper to support getting a job), I have learned a great deal about the process and have developed empathy for students who often need to do tasks not of their own devising but which are worthwhile academically.
thanks Molly! *looks around for more choclits*
Hi stidmama Just loooked at chog. busy with the ji words.
hello Mother. down to 141 here! :-D
going to get back to the paper in a few minutes, but figured I deserve a break.
Down to 98 here but not going fast! I'm the ony one awake here at the moment.
what do you think of me printing it out with line numbers and rearranging from there? I am so tired of looking at computer screens
Writing papers should be on the human rights watch list of unreasonable tortures
LOL Murph tired him out, did he?
Yes, line numbers can be very useful.
Especially papers like the one Stid is writing. That sounds right up there with water boarding.
What's the paper stid. I missed it.
Hi all. How is Babbleland today.
thanks Kaplan! *nodding head vigorously in agreement*
Hi Wht.
gah. you want the official title?
hi, wht!
"access to opportunity: digital literacies in education"
Other than the en5ous paper stid is writing.
it's really about the digital divide and some of the pitfalls teachers want to avoid, rather than literacy per se
OK
pretty boring... *sigh* but it meets the requirements for a master's in this program so it's getting done.
are you back to feeling okay kaplan? last I saw you for any time you were rather poorly
stid, I think that even if you don't exactly need the paper, the process is useful (as you pointed out). I could make large piles of stuff that I did as a student that weren't directly useful, but I am a better physicist and teacher for having done them.
my dissertation title did not rival "Of Mice and Men"or"The Naked and the Dead"either.
I'm ok stid thanks, although I can find something to complain about.
lol, kap - neither did mine, and it contained the mu word from today's puzzle which I nevertheless failed to spot.
yes, in some ways because I am not completely "into" the topic I think I am better able to separate my ego from the paper itself.
any other sub-atomic particles in the paper, sue? or the grid? I have the mu and the io
Oh- let me go look for that one
I didn't find mu**** as in teenage mu**** turtles in here uusue.
Mine had he6 in the title. What a coincidence.
well, my dissertation was full of them, but no more in today's grid. there is a chemical element, though.
hm. substance abuse, kaplan?
so far the mi 6/24 is my fav word in the grid today
right, that's not it, gmere - it's an elementary particle. I have a list of physics babblets in my profile if you're interested.
yes, even though I deconstructed the term "substance abuse."
Me too.
LOL mother!
ty uu, I may wander by to look as they do crop up in these grids with some regularity.
that's a useful topic, and explains why you were so helpful explaining the nature of addiction that one time.
how fishy is the O word?
not at all fishy, stid
I don't remember the specific instance, but it is something I go on and on about
it's more of a suffix than a word, really
Did anyone get away with murter?
hm.. stats for the O please?
I'm still looking for the mu. How many letters?
on5/14
it's a bad work day when the reading glasses make it HARDER to see the computer. *sigh* okay, thanks sue
four, kap, and then its plural
mu 4, and plural 5
Can I have clues for the im's. Thanks.
thank you
both im 5/12 wht
i+ not yours it is m***
I have the stats, stid. I was hoping for a clue.
same again but dif last letter.
ty zoo
got the O!
hey zoom!
they'd be acids if they started with a, wht
ty uu
hello, Stidmama :-)
okay, eyes really hurting. going to go rest and then get back to the paper. (((hugs all))) thanks for the help and encouragement! *poof*
Chemistry was not my field. Sometimes I think it is a real disadvantage when playing Babble.
hi, zooz! Didn't mean to step on your toes there, was typing...
No problems at all, Sue :-)
I just got whomped with two fish- sa4 and mi4. Makes me think I mistyped them earlier
Wht...ends the same way as those tiles with dots you play with. Lop off the vowel at the end for the short one.
sometimes I think I've typed a word, but it was in yesterday's puzzle (or some previous one...)
Sorry, change the vowel at the end.
all the grids kind of merge, don't they.
How many times this week havve we had ir4?
hi folks
It seems like every day. It's taunting us to go DO IT.
Hi Welki
Hi Welki
I am missing 6 p's- what am I not seeing?
kindle users here?
No- book.
i'm resisting buying one, but i do love gadgets
The Italian countryment, Kap?
Maybe -but I am missing most from the left side
hello all
I love to read and love books but a kindle would be kind of nice too
Hello Peri
I am missing two of the p's from the upper left
who is that in your icon, Kap?
I have a Sony reader, peri and welki - it's really nice for traveling
i'm to the point where no one wants the paper books i'm finished with .. so why waste the paper
Grandma Yetta. From "The Nanny."
ah, so it is :)
Someone yesterday thought it was me.
I thought it might be a self portrait too :O
the anti-glare screen of the kindle 3 is what's attracting me. i've tried to read books on my i-pad and can only do it inside
Grandma Yetta was the same actress as Millie in the old Dick Van Dyke show.
Yeah, right, Peri.
oh an anti glare screen sounds really good
(but kindle at this point is a u.s.a. product only .. would have to have it shipped here, pay import fees and for books in u.s. dollars)
Yetta cracked me up.
well, in my defense I have no idea what you look like, Kap
finished! finally! fireworks! more f words!
Neither do I, but I don't look like THAT!
Ah, Millie Helper. And her dentist husband Jerry.
yay for uusue
wtg uu
Yay Sue!
Yah- Millie Helper. Does someone want to google the actress?
ok then, when will you post a picture of yourself, Kap?
Do you all have pictures of yourselves posted? Are you a flower?
am really stuck with 54 left
my sony reader is nice, welki, it will take lots of common electronic publication formats. I haven't ever bought a book for it; I just go to the Gutenberg project website and download books that are no longer copyrighted.
32left and sticking.
I have posted a picture of my real self before.
I am a steampunk mouse.
Ann Morgan Guilbert
Right. She is a hoot.
how's it do in sunlight, uusue?
I am a rock, I am an island.
It's quite good, welki. It doesn't have its own light, so you can't read it in the dark.
...and an island never dies. (he said)
I got it from woot.com for about $100; they later sold me a holder for it that includes a light, for another $7. But, like all woots, that was a one-time dea.
*deal.
I don't have an iphone- or a kindle- it took me years to get a cellphone, but I rely on it- it's only amatter of time, I suppose.
I like my appointment book.
I think I am turning into Yetta.
Fortunately, I have not been incarcerated and have no need for a cell phone.
I don't think my Kindle lights up in the dark. But that is okay, since I don't do any reading in the dark. Kap, I wouldn't have a Kindle if my kids hadn't given it to me for Christmas. But I love the Scrabble game I have on it. It is a great time passer while waiting.
lol, BR!
hi there BR.nice to see you. Do you have your hammock out yet?
Hello, peri. For sure.
:)
I just found the homophones in the left p corner
I am homophonic.
I am anti-semantic too.
LOL Kaplan!
you are funny Kap
I am inclined to lean on my friends.
:)
OK, I am only missing one of those left p's now.
i have a fear of phobias...:)
Phobophobia.
There actually is a word for it...

hi BabRab - very few bushfires this year (except for the West - we thought we would do floods this time! How are you, any issues with melting snow?
na6,21 is like the belief in Grandmothers.
na6,18 is like the word for country but change the middle consonant.
Sorry about the floods, lyn.. Forecast is for record flood levels here. More sandbagging.
Keep safe - better put the hammock up on some higher pegs
Yep, between chimneys
what a picture!
BabRab - I think you would appreciate a cartoonist we have here - Leunig - you could Google to see a sample of his work. I am sure he woud do a lovely cartoon of you in your hammock slung between 2 chimneys well above the flooding/disaster!

Hmmm, Its broadcast live here, but, with work tomorrow, who can stay up till 3/4 am to watch the show?
I need J help... i have ji4/9 and ji4/10

Hi min!
Le petite singe! Where have you been?
I have 1 JA, 4 JI, and 2 JN, what am I missing please
bonjour Molly! Comment ca va
Car, how is your boy?
Ready for this....scarlet fever.
Holy shit!
Oh no....
But, of course, not run of the mill scarlet fever. He has "quite a unique presentation".
I have never heard of scarlet fever presenting that way. Your Mom vibes were on target.
Thank God Zach did not go to that party today!
you got 2 ji 4/9's lil*monkey?
does he have the strawberry tongue????
yes bodz
Oh man, you're not kidding Car.
google mothers ruin :)
OK
oh ok
T's Tumbled! 9 left
Jeepers, Car! And his only symptoms were hives?
Car, are you all contagious or just him?
is there a JO ?
He has wicked strep with a fever and this rash...which is most consistent, although not entirely with Henoch-Schönlein purpura (HSP) but even that is not presenting as a "normal" case.
or JU ?
ji 4/10 add the initials for sado masochism
We (those in the house) may likely get strep, but not in this fashion.
i have that, bodz
i have 4 words JI
That was Lil's first word, I'm sure. : P
ju 4/12 is what you do when you propel yourself off the ground
OK thanks!
No strawberry tongue lil*monkey...just hives, hives, hives.
How is he now, Car? Is he sickly?
yikes, carole!
Damn, antibiotics and chicken soup all around.
finally conquered the Js
You know it is a good case when the nurse goes "Oh my God!" and then the nurse practioner tells you what it is, but then says "but I really think the doctor should look at this".
congrats :)
nm
the young actress nominated for True Grit looks so divine on the rRed Carpet... pink beaded gown looks very "ballerina"
The doctor expects that he will get WORSE before he gets better. More joint swelling (his hands and feet are already swollen) and then the rash patches will most likely turn PURPLE!!!
And there is a good chance it will be accompanied by abdominal pain.
Tijani, did you get the pr7/36 word? If so, please clue
I need to go kick the kids off the big TV so Mom and I can watch...
car,i am sorry your boy has scarlett fever.. good lord, quite a rare thing these day;(
pr 7/36 nearly a promise.. one consonant changed
It is actually back quite a bit. They have seen hundreds of cases.
Poor kid. I'm glad he's got a good Mom taking care of him. Lil...what channel are you watching?

Oh sorry. Tijani confused me when he said he needed last pr 7/36.Maybe he meant it was the last word for him.So sorry bodz. Thanks for all of your clues anyway
Hello Nef! How are you doing? Welcome to the puzzle.'

congrats min :)
I told tertiare, and she FREAKED. she feels so bad!
What the doctor thinks the rash may be is called Henoch-schonlein purpura. Its a type of vasculitis.
:(
Trif...are you hunkered down for the Oscar night?
According to WBZ... the King's Speech has taken over the front runner spot and Colin Firth as well.
yup. the cone of silence has been constructed
What is it about Hollywood people? Most of them seem so in love with themselves.
clique
if thats the right word
i find it funny that not always the film hat has made the most money gets the awards
*that

I just said that....
How does Cate Blanchette look in the mirror and think that dress looks good on her? Really?

it's not the dress that's fashionable, it's the label i guess
I cannot get the grid to give me one more word. completely grid locked....
I was agreeing with you trif.
do you have food from God?
Who is that with Justin Timberlake? His Mother?
Ummm... I see him with Ryan!
If you mean the woman in the green, yes I think that is his mom.
ma 5/12 after the horse hair please?
Yep, I meant the woman in green. I'm watching the web stream which is probably different than what's on TV.
NM! Found it again!
what is food from god?
oh wait....
Little flakes that fall from the sky. Biblical.
now I do! I thought you meant here, to eat...
The food God sent to the Israelites in the desert.
(The Biblical food actually has a double consonant. This is really Polynesian power. But if the clue works, it's all good!)
Hello, everyone.
Hi Vicuna!
I thought it had 2 consonants!
ma5/12 after horse hair is craziness
Nice dress on Hilary Swank. She really needs to fem it up, she is such a man lookin' woman.
Hi Vicuna.
Something about Helena Bonham Carter's style reminds me of Stevie Nicks. I think they could share a closet.
clue for am7 please?
french friend + E flat or C sharp
Yes, Hilary is man-ish
I LOVE her -- no dissing allowed, ma'am!
am7 - like the fetus fluid, but end sounds like a porridge grain
Although it seems Helana has really dumbed it down lately. Her clothes are looking almost normal.
Oh God...EB...I am sorry...bad, bad clue
KEITH URBAN!!!!!!!!!!!
You love who Trif? Helena or Hilary?
COLIN FIRTHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Mr. Trif is taking the carpet!
Hilary
Yes, there is Nicole and her wee husband. : P
Oh...Nicole is there too?!??! Just kidding!
she is nominated for a movie absolutely NO ONE has seen. fun!
I would love to see what that man looks like with a "real" hairstyle.
Which man Molly?
Keith?
Geoffrey rush?
Yep. Keith. Why is Celine at the Oscars? Did she sing a nominated song? And where is Grandpa?
celine is singing along to the dead reel
She is singing the song during the "In Memorium"
hmmm. lots of slim top poofy bottom dresses this year
Thanks for the warning. I will be sure to mute that.
Hugh!

Hi all! Back to work on the grid again.

hi trifioso!
Car- how did hte Dr go? IS Dylan ok
or should I just read the chog
How much cuter can Reese be?!?!?
DR...he has scarlet fever.
OH NO1 Poor kid! My nephew has had that
WOW!! Glad you took him to MD! Is he feeling any better?
He also has Henoch-Schonlein (sp?) purpura, which is not presenting in a usual way.
You guys must have a different feed... I are watching Mark Guffalo and his wife
Nothing about this case is "normal" according to the doctor.
Doctor expects him to get worse before he gets better, unfortunately.
Scarlet's dress is hideous
Im sorry. I am used to not ever doing anything normal when it comes to medicine but that stinks
sorry...should say hello first...hi all ;)
Pini!
Hi Pini and yes it is
;)
sorry to hear about Dylan, hope he feels better soon ;)
I am so sorry car.ee ((hugs)) to you both
Thanks. Me too.
Ty jilly.
Ugh. Not a GP fan at all.
don't like her dress at all either
and Kidman's (don't care for her at all) dress was incredibly hideous
mi 5/14 please?
what do some of these people think?
I want Jakester to marry Hallie Steinfeld
Why is Gywennie so enchanted with lifeless, stringy hair?
fugly. hands down
she is adorable and was good in True Grit
I liked AMy ADams dress
Yes for Amy Adams.

Oh. I am watching E!
indy is asleep on my legs....SO cute! he is making little sniffly noises
I have not seen Gwen or some of the others you mentioned
There are 2 feeds on here...I finally figured out that trif/car are watching E
I am now seeing Christian Bale.
I'm watching the web stream.
christian bale...such a good guy
I am seeing Scarlett
christian bales voice does NOT match his face!
it's always startling to hear his accent, I'm so used to hearing him in movies without it...
Sandra Bullock looks Jackie O-ish.
Now Sandra
matthew mcc-however you spell it is SUCH a meat head
Sandra needs a better hairdo
Poor Sandra...quite a year for her.
UGH! I dont like him.
do you think if you stand right next to sandra you could see her boobs? I always wonder that about dresses like that
Yes, I definitely do Trif. And Sandy needs red nails with that dress.
lol...Oscars aren't on here yet...NOW I know what to be looking for...
I wonder that when I see the brides in the strapless dresses on "Say Yes to the Dress"
Halle Berry is so pretty
( changed to our E feed
And thank you Trif. I thought I was the only female who wondered things like that. (It goes without saying that men do)
but they are showing Gwennie
Halle is lovely, but I could go without the pouf at the bottom of her dress.
gwennie looks like the tin man
Has Donald Trump gained like a hundred pounds?
that's right, dr...they're backtracking a bit
don't like her/dress at all
Not enjoying the Gwyneth coverage
I miss when hollywood glamour meant pretty curly hair or waves
baby weight, molly
ewe! Donald Trump does look icky
wtf is donald trump doing there?
and I totally do NOT understand the women with the alien shaped hairdos.
Auntie...Zach says "hi"!
I miss that too Trif.
Robert Downey!!!!
looking for the next celebrity apprentice
nice! Robert downey jr checking for the dog poop on the shoes before hitting the carpet....lol!
That woman with Trump looks like a B-52 chick.
Hello to Zach!!!
And hollywood glamour wore a size 14!
Downey always looks constipated.
YOu heard it here first - Celine DIon did NOT have those twins. I promise, one day we are going to find out she used a surrogate and lied about it.
Sandra looks haggard.
very tired, car
Oh I believe that 100% Trif.
Hubby confirms you could see Sandras boobs for sure
surprising, but understandable
Yes, but I do enjoy his acting and I am so happy he turned his life around.
Penelope cruz --> lovely! looking like an actual woman who just had an actual baby.
what channel are you watching, e?
E
ok, the dress doesn't fit if you have keep pulling the straps back up

Kudos to Natalie Portman's dress designer. Anyone who can make a woman that pregnant look like she still has a waist is okay with me.

hi red
Hi Red!
hi red. i am regretting that i out down the brownie bites i picked up in the market today :(
omg jennifer hudson is so skinny
Not crazy about Anne Hathaway's make up. I can't abide red lipstick that doesn't match the red dress.
wow. I am eating regretful pizza but it is good.
Weight Watchers has to be loving the fact that they chose Jennifer Hudson.
OK...talk me down friends...I have the hungry horrors and I am trying so hard to stick to my diet. I have sinned....I ate some mac & cheese.

hi weed
hi all
hi nrkii
{{nrkii}}
((nrk)) hey there!
hi nrk!
is it me, or is this grid a beast?
lol, hi all
hi nrkii... I have 44 words...
good evening all - hope it is not that bad a beast - just getting started
I am very distracted, so it has taken me quite a while.
Tim Gunn just told Justin Timberlake it took JT a full hour to walk the red carpet wich is only 500' long! ugh
Hi wv!
Well, the web stream just cut out, so I will have to pick things up at the real live show.
I'm down to 51, but this might be too ornery to put up with
I just want to know...where is Johnny Depp?!?!?
Hey Nrkii.
at home in sweats, car?
I'm back home tonight
hi again. I still haven't hit half way on this grid. Toomany distractions today (and I'm not even watching the Oscars)
this is the kind of grid where i can have the first 4 letters, words before & aft, snd STILL cannot find words:?
how's it feeling so far?
boy is my house quiet compared to my mom's
quieter?
Him or me, pini?!?!?
oh, it will be nice to sleep in your own bed, I hope, nrk!
Glad to hear it Nrkii. That must be a comfort.
welcome home then
Welcome home nrkii.
thanks... only here for 3 days
then back to mom's
(((nrkii)))
Well, brief respites help.
Enough time to regroup and enjoy some quiet.
oh, it's raining SO hard now... a nice change from the rain, at least the roads will be safe to drive on again!
car, I've been tending to my dad, and missed the chog - how is your son?
I got an 8!
ha! enough time for 2 5-hour long meetings, a 2-hour doctor's appointment, and showing my face in the office
5 hour long meeting???
gah. meetings. yuck.
pr8?
Oh rats. No respite.
work meeting tomorrow, board of ed meeting tuesday
*Hands choclits to Stid for finding an 8*
that's why I am down here now
mmmm. choclits.
pr8 = carbs and pr8 (the other is the same word, different spelling)
that's the 8 I found! not fat, not starch, but what you get from meat and beans
pr8 = plural of pr7, what meats are high in (not carbs, for instance)
the other pr8 is the same, but change the last vowel
wowo keith urban is so little!
help with the O please/
on5
on 5: resembles a mineral named for smelly veggie
on5 = on + "eye" + sound of hesitation
I think, TO... Nicole Kidman is just so tall! LOL
Keith Urban would be WAY taller than me!
Kidman is 5'10"...I think Urban is, too, but she always wears extremely high heels
hi all
oh i am missing the academy awars
hi jmc
*awrds
oh that would do it. of course *catty mode engaged* easier to wear such high heels with size 20 feets...
*awards (threes the charm)
got it, thanks
LOL jmc! I am doing the same thing!
i hate mil kunis' gown
is that the purple one?
yes
ah, yes I was thinking very few women would be brave enough to eawear that one
or wear
i listen to radio sunday night
i did not think it was flattering - excpet the color was
I have no E words at all
yes, the color was lovely. I think the dress would have worked without the strange vertical drape in the front.
first tr 6 clue pls?
me either nrkii
oh! past halfway. MUST take an eyeball break before working on paper some more. *hugs and guilt-free choclits for all* see you later! *poof*
ugh this is getting slow....
I am going to sign off now. Got to try and get the boys settled. If I am up during the night with Dyl, I may bump into some of you later! Enjoy the Oscars!
night, car

And Boston is sad that you are gone...
hi dorens

we had about four inches of snow this morning... but still a nice ride
ty
i had a good book i'm listening to... chris bojalian's most recent, and it kept me well entertained
i like listening to books while i drive
the house is quiet - they were just here for dinner - warm day, played in the park this afternoon
that is how i finally got through bleak house
I want to get an audio book for the car.
jmc, I had a book, but I kind of wanted the time to think
i need abook rreommendation or to
apparently, my thoughts are boring today
sounds nice wv
I'm not getting that in6 clue... sigh... sorry
lol nrkii!
that + good lumbar support in the seats makes for nice driving... and yes, nrk i know what you mean... you do need time to think now, it's true
ooh, got it
was starting from wrong i
ah that is part of why i am so regular at meeting for worship
no6/24?
I was sorry to miss church today. It would have been nice to go to my regular church while I was here.
yeah i missed it too
no6/24 = no**nation + snake + dbl hump
I made it to church and also a wake today.
(I should really get the defs instead of cluing like that)
:-(
I prayed for everybody....
especialy since no**nation means nothing to me
no worries jmc, Nef has us covered
ty if i was included in that nef
Okay Pini...the followers of nom. : P
no**nation (elect)
that'll work, molly! :)
sure do nrkii! ;-) I figure that others kept us in their thoughts when DH was ill...
:0) I needed a few prayers I ended up stopping off at an emergency room on my way home from a meeting on saturday
oh no, jmc!
why, jmc?
thanks Nef
What happened JMC?
you gonna be ok, jmc?
i had a "cardiac incident"
in other words they could find anything that had happened
so i am going in for tests this week
oh??? Tell us what happened. (((jmc)))
well, if you have to have a cardiac incident, that's the way to do it
i spent most of today discussing whether i would stay there
oh... prayers for you jmc (and i'm not much of a pray er_
they kept you overnight?
I was driving home and my left arm just felt weird and i felt like i had a tight bra on but didn't
jmc, why did you argue?
yeah they gave me this and that and concluded that i had moderately high BP and moderately high colesteral
because i was tired from no sleeping and all their tests said nothing was really currently wrong
so i came home to sleep. I will go back and do the tests.
besides my cat was hungary
Oh My Jmc. Are you feeling better now?
okay; when?
so i came home tonight
is someone with you?
not sure that was a good idea
i am calling them tomorrow and not going the board meeting that has been causing me so much stress tomorrow
you guys are :-)
jmc, take care of you
i talked with the cardiologist at some length and am not worried
I *really* hated it when patients drove themselves to the hospital and had cardiac events
really? I thought that was better than staying on the freeway at 70 miph
this sketch is lame evne if anne hathaway is too funny
hi all
hi boo
jmc, pull over and call 911 if that happens again
hi Boo
i actually like it (the sketch). usualy don't se these things, so don't have much to compare it to. but the black swan/brown duck scene was good
time for me to go
have agood night everyone
anyway i am heading to bed early so night all and don't worry--if the doctor told me i was an idiot i would have stayed as I made perfectly clear to him
yes that was funny! she is really beautiful
it was ambigous nef

Good night nrkii and jmc

thx luv
ty luv, nice clue
yw
hi, all!
hello sue
Just reading back through the chog - it's been quite a day for a couple of our babblers!!! scarlet fever and threats of heart attacks - good heavens!!
Back again to finish...*sigh* 24 left, hitting the s and looking forward to the T (ya, right)
I can clue if needed :-)
I have 90 left, and I should go on to bed.
clue for ji 4/11
the 1st pr8, please.
My mo chopped my hair trif. It was not til I was 20 that I grew it all out.
ji4/11 sounds like a monkey
Red, did she chop it because you were throwing fits about getting it brushed?
1st pr8 is plural of the pr7 before it; both differ from the second pr7/pr8 pair by a single letter
and now the T's...
I always had to have pixie cuts when we were young because I had "impossible" hair
probably. I had/have very curly, sort of African-American hair and it hurts even now to brush it. but now I brush it not my Mom.
yeah I had the "Dorothy Hamill"
I had a pixie cut because I chose to 'trim' my own hair...that and I LOVED Twiggy!!
Now THAT dates me...lol
My sister gave me awful pixie cuts. They look good on about 1% of females.
LOL! I was an adult when her hair style was in. My daughter had that style in 4th grade because she wouldn't let me do anything with hers
May I please have a clue for pr7-32 the 2nd? Thanks
and they're BACCCKk
clue for ji 4/10
I think my pixie cut left my hair about an inch long over most of my head.
I don't have girls. But if I did, I would give the child one of three options. Let me brush it, you brush it or it all gets cut off. I am, and always have been, a no BS Mom.
pr7/32 the 2nd is something there is a lot of in meat
And this is probably many of us had these short cuts, because we had no nonsense Moms.
well, this grid has kicked my butt,so i will bid you all good night, was thinking of poor johnny cash and i will share this with you as i leave/tc and happy babbling...poof! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HBWFJ85 n_w0
ji4/10 is a somewhat crude term for ejaculate
j+3 vowels boobear
uusue, who had scarlet fever, and the threat of the heart attack?
uusue, I have that as the 3rd pr7-32....am I mispelling one? T hanks
funny... every spring my mother dragged me to some barber shop for what she called a pixie haircut. i hated it. never had a choice. So when my daughter had beautiful blonde shirley temple type curls, i let them grow, never cut her hair till she wanted it, and believe me brushing it was a real challenge
you're probably right, Jilly. My Aunt had the 4 of us girls, our 2 younger brothers, a full time job; and no patience for any nonsense.
guess i am a bs, nonsense kind of mom (or at least was with my daughter)
car.eeyore's son has scarlet fever, and jmcnrick had a heart attack scare (but got a more or less clean bill of health; she'll be going back tomorrow for more tests)
i wondered if it was car's son! hope all are ok.
for your daughters Hair....maybe not the whole daughter... ;)
this grid stinks..not liking it at all
hah! maybe, red and hi sue and feather
peach, I can't count! the second pr7/32 is the same as the first except with a different consonant on the end
yeah, i stopped earlier at 42 found, and have decided that's enough!
my mom was always giving me permanents, which I hated. I wanted long straight hair, which is what my hair does if left alone, and which was the style when I was a teenager lo these many years ago...
I am at 87 and I am going to take myself to bed.
night, red!
Really Sue? How old were you when she gave you perms?
Thanks so much, uusue2.
4 the first time, 13 the last, which was the most infuriating (I was just starting high school)
niters, red.
Nite red, sweet dreams!
Oh my God. I can't imagine expecting a 4 year old to sit still for a perm. Bless you.
sue your mom and mine must have been friends... i got perms when the pixies were growing in, and I hated the smell of them (as well as the results) i had absolutely no self-determination growing up (at least in terms of my hair... which was red and i hated that too)
not only that but I had VERY stubborn hair, and she had to use the adult perms on me (her hair was naturally curly)
dang, one more to fw, am missing one of the tr5/10's between the tr6/18 and the tr5/14 HELP
Dorens!!! Fellow red head!!!
Sorry, Jilly. I don't have it yet. :-(
I have the tr+need a glass of w*** NOWWWW
the other is french for three
Okay, will hold back and clue as needed after I take a quick break...brb
french for # three word meaning three ......
hated it until i was 15 molly.. then realized it was actually cool
got it! ty fw
YAY, Jilly!!!!! WTG!!!!
I hated it until I heard these magic words..."Guys dig red heads".
yay, jill!
yay jij
well .. they didn't dig flat chested girls until i was about 16, then the hair compensated, i guess
Dorens, I didn't know that teen-aged boys liked flat-chested girls.
can't monkey the na 4/4 that is between the na 4/4 and na 4/5 - can anyone help with a clue please
n+ 3 vowels
and it starts from the bottom middle N
not the younger ones, but by the time i was 16, the hair got a couple of them, I guess
thanks uusue
was trying to use the wrong n
Heading to FB for scrabble, but will check in for clue needs
Jilly, I'm still trying to get through this grid; but don't know what I need even though I AM using Lickety now! I admire those who have finished!
*pokes the chat*
I'm still alive here.
i'm still here - trying to monkey my last word - as 5 - will take any help so i can head off to bed - clue please
wish i could help. i bailed early on this one.
add a vowel ending to the as4/4 wvteach
there is no as that i know of - the as 5 is the only as on the list
as5 = a + sweat box - u
as + 3 letter girls name (using all the 1st vowels
OMG Nef....I didn't use Lickety today....lol..he must have posted after I started??
WTG, JIlly! I AM impressed! :-O
Probably took me about 5 hours....so not so impressive...lol
thnx - fireworks here - and off to bed
WooT WooT wvteach...sweet dreams
see you all tomorrow - thnx for all the help with the clues
*dear* 28 year old daughter just had a screaming snit fit because she said her Dad was sarcastic and snotty to her! She stomped her feet and slammed the door just like when she was 5 years old! Sheesh!
YAY, wv! WTG!!!
My *dear* 28 yr old son called today for money....trade you!!
mine texted to see how life was going
Out of the 3, I'll keep mine ;)
Nice pini!!
No, Jilly, I just wish sometimes she would either grow up OR she was small enough to take privledges away from her (and sending to her room actually was a punsihment again!)
I keep thinking mine will get off on his own...he KNOWS his dad and I are now on a very limited income until we know if my sweetie qualifies for disability.
raise their rents!
Oh, but we do love them don't we...*heavy sigh*
at least if you say NO to him about money it might have some effect.
Well, next year will be better, he'll be going to ODU and living in the dorms...HOPEFULLY will learn to save for a rainy day.
He just needed a small amount to rent a car for the next week...then he's got spring break and hopefully his truck will be repaired by then
Pini, our daughter had her paycheck garnished (or whatever it's called) for ignoring her bills. She had an abusive boyfriend, so she was a mess when she moved back home last year.
oh, sorry to hear that, Nef...
It actually was a loan as he gets his GI bill payment this week.
She is paying rent, and paying her bills, but her attitude kind of sucks when it's "that time of the month"
sorry nef, I can empathize, mine was in a marriage that was very emotionally abusive for him...he went back to her 4 times...thankfully finally separated on opposite coasts and divorced
I just hate the 5 year old mentality when it shows up
sorry to hear about yours, too, JJ
Well, not to defend her behavior but...I work with people who have very childish behavior at times...lol
I work with profs who act like that ALL the time...
we had seen her personality change; I'd always had the gut feeling that "he was a nice guy; but not right for MY daughter" and she hid the abuse from us quite well.
LOL! Maybe I should be glad that she's got the gumpshun to be a 5 year old again? OMG, what a thought!!!
I truly now understand abused spouse syndrome....it was so hard to watch...it is so hard to see our children suffer.. :(
ROFL
Okay Nef, let's discuss doctor's behaviors....lol...there's a childish group!
Ahh, Motherhood! Such a joy and sorrow!
we nurture them and bring them along to the point they should be able to stand on their own two feet.
So we do too much for them>
I think I did
HI snags!!
and am not treated with respect. so I guess I did it to myself
hi Jilly jill
Jilly, I've had a few run-ins with docs in my day; but I think the last time I told a doc off was more than 8,9 years ago!
hi snags
hello nef
I can say that mine really do treat us well and do appreciate what we have done/do for them. They are really good young men.
I have come to the conclusion, I am not a very nice person.
just feeling sorry for myself today..........
Nef, I work with 8 MD's; 2 of them are 'old school' and fairly difficult to work with at times. The younger new MD's are truly a joy!
tomorrow will be better
my DH and I were both raised in poor families. We felt that since we could, we wanted to help our kids by doing a lot of stuff that we couldn't have when we were kids. That may have been a problem in the long run.
NO SNAGS...never say that!!
(((snags))) *hands snags chocolates*
how can you say that snags? Because your kids say that?
today I am a mess. we went to church this morning and I started crying when we sand the Lord's Prayer.............
Man, I have had THOSE days snags...hang in there!!
well I have an adult daughter that wont talk to me because she thinks I put my oldest granddaughter before her and that was nearly 2 years ago
(((Snags))) We all do the best we can in a given situation.
glad I am not alone, but am sorry you have those feelings too.
a grandchild should come before an adult child.
Thanks yo two...... for listening and encouraging me.
but the thing was, i didn't do that.
My thoughts are with parents who struggle with their children; I've also had my fair share...but I will always be there for my kids unlike my own parents and siblings (but 1) who are no longer 'there' for me.
Man, you are stuck between a rock and a hard place then
Pass the chocolate please
cholits for all
The one thing I've learned over the past 5 months is to trust God, thank him for whatever his plan is, and remembering the situation does not define ME
Children............ there are days but I have 3 grandsons I adore and they adore me.
wise Jilly. very wise
very true, Jilly.
Believe me, it has taken all of my 52 years to learn that...*bites into chocolate*
I have 2 gkids...I'm not 'allowed' to see one
swallowed my piece of choco, whole.............
Oh Pini............
* eyeing the whole box of chocs *
first thing we learned back in nursing school is that no one is perfect and that as long as you do the best you can in any situation, you should never blame yourself if things go terribly wrong. Just do your best and that's all you can do
any of them have nuts?
OH pini, I am so sorry...the hardest part of my son's divorce was losing the step=grandchild that I loved dearly...cried many nights
(and those nuns were talking about people dieing under our care!)
I think the 1950's were easier
Good trainers those nuns...I had a couple that transfered when my college took over the Catholic school.
...the one I can't see is the one I raised for 6 years...
snags, one box with nuts; 1 box without. Which do you want?
...and she lives only 1/2 mile away. :(
Well, the 70's were, or was it the mood enhancers?
(((PINI)))
Oh Pini ((Hugs)))
LOL, Jilly! I had my nose to the grindstone in the 70's and missed the mood enhancers!
Us student nurses partied HARD on weekends....
not in my school. We started out with 55 in our freshman class; only 20 graduated. Anyone who partied a lot flunked
the nutted chocolates please.
(but I went to nursing school in the 60's; and we were pretty innocent in North Dakota back then
* wonders if there are any chocs with caramel *
where in ND, Nef?
I was here in Montana, but Missoula was pretty liberal, that was my last year as well.
here you go, snags; this box has some interesting hazel nut mocha pieces in it
Gran Forks, Fargo and Jamestown, Pini
Missoula was always liberal, Jilly!
Oops! GranD forks, that was
<-- family in Mandan/Bismarck
Not as much now...
I survived the 50s -- not a good time for wives and women.
...and a cousin-in-law from Fargo
It was known as the Berkley of the ROckies back then
Jilli! Your icon is a hoot!
ty nef!
Hi sis!
hi jilli
I'm really watching the Oscars but hi all
(also distracted by Oscars)
Me too jilli
JIlly, my dad knew every hippy artist in Missoula. He had all sorts of artists and druggy as his buddys back then
nice to see a sis and a cuz here -- so sorry about your grandkid, pini :-( You are such a good person and don't deserve that.
distracted by hubby. he was having a leg cramp
Have another chocolate snags...
that isn't fun...
hi snags -- I know about leg cramps too -- eat bananas.
how about the boxzz// grinning
Nef, I sure hope you get out here sometime!
thx jilli...pretty soon she'll hopefully have a voice and can make some decisions that are good for her!
and I totally agree with jilli saying that you don't deserve that treatment, Pini!
i just read about drinking a glass of water before bed.......... it helps hydrate the legs......... wonder if it's true.
are the oscars very good??
It'll give you exercise making a potty run during the night!
Better than some years snags
lol
I think the leg cramps at night might be because of a potassium deficiency (esp if he is on diuretics) so bananas are a nice bedtime snack.
great, the oscars were hoping to attract a younger group
no diuretics, or blood pressure meds.
I don't know about that one, snags. I try to drink a couple of glasses of water before bedtime; but then have to get up and go at night! ;-) I have found that making sure I get my multivit each day helps
totally agree jilli, potassium deficit
frankly growing old isn't such a good idea!! :)
I think it's most important to drink water during the day...bedtime shouldn't make a difference.
the Oscars? I'm just curious about who's going to win (loved The Kig's Speech -- haven't seen the others) -- thought the actor who played the speech coach deserves an Oscar -- brilliant.
it can also be magnesium that causes leg cramps.
NEF, not enough or too much?
growing old is better than the alternative, snags
"The golden years have come at last......the golden years can kiss my a**."
lol
A cal/mag/zinc supplement very needed if you take a blood pressure med.
ROFL jj, but here I am enjoying 83...
oops -- dinner's ready -- back later
bb sis!
I am 66............ and a young one at heart......... zipping along the highways on a Honda gold wing three wheeler............... lovin it
not enough, snags. I was taking Vit D3, and you should take calcium when you take Vit. D. Got leg cramps; was told I needed to increase my magnesium. That helped
good for you, snags! :-) I'm 64 myself
As the youngsters say...SAHWEET! snags
Nef, hubby takes a multitude of things......... but I don't think mag, is one of them
lol........ my hubby is my first passion, the wing the second passion.;.;.;.;.;.;.;.;.;.;.;
Sahweeeeeeeeeet!
we both ride so we take turns .... when he rides I sit on the back and read
my advice is he should check with his doctor and get a blood test. Don't follow vitamin advice except by someone who knows what your blood levels
brb
are
Well, going to have to sign off for tonight. Early day, was supposed to be off, but one nurse doesn't want to work (reference to previous conversation on childish behaviors...lol). Thanks for a great chat every one!
take care jj
LOL! Daughter came upstairs and (sort of) apologized. Dh suggested that she use a red flag to warn us that she's PMS-ing
niters, Jilly
nice, nef!
oooh, I like the quote they just showed by Lena Horne: It's not the load the breaks you down; it's how you carry it.
my mind is a bit twisted. I know what he means; but it could be taken a different way...
I know what you mean, Nef...perhaps a pretty floral or something LOL
I like that too! (I am not watching the Oscars, though)
..or a lock on her door!
* the = that
"It's not the load that breaks you down; it's how you carry it."
LOL!
I adored Lena Horne. She was remarkable for any age!
*relurk*
I should think about doing my hair before it gets too late.
I really liked her too. She definitely had class (something a lot of famous people lack these days)
very much so, Nef...
...and interetingly enough, Hallie Berry resembles her quite a bit!
(in appearance and presented character)
true. I read an in-depth interview with Hallie Berry once while waiting in the doctor's office. She sounded like she had her act together
I like the idea that she always seems to carry herself in public in a classy/classic manor...not into changing her look/personality to fit the most current 'trend'
that's nice too
I really don't keep up with celebrities; I don't care for movies or gossip columns. I'm pretty boring I guess. I'd rather read biographies and watch educational TV I guess
likewise ... I've not seen any of the movies they've been talking about
Last time I saw a movie in a theater it was Titanic. DH loves movies; he watches them when I'm at work. (hmm, maybe that's why he says it's okay for me to keep working...?) ;-)
I'd go to a movie sometime if I had someone to go with...otherwise I'm good with watching the old black and whites when I get a chance.
The last 2 times DH went to a movie, he went with my best friend. She's divorced; and every once in a while there is a movie that they both want to see and I really don't want to go.
Perhaps one will come out that will really catch my attention...until then...
...I'll save my money. ;)
...and speaking of doing hair, I should go get it over with...
...back shortly. ;)
okay. I gotta get back to this #@&%!! grid
May I please have a clue for te5-10? Thanks
I only have the 2nd te 5/10; it's a male singer
te5/10 1st or 2nd?
Oh, sorry, Jac.....1st please.
Also, it's Halle Berry and 'manner' not 'manor'. That's for past posters.
Gap - it's a ancient Grecian headband. Number after 9 + 2 vowels.
Thanks so much, Jacula.
Jac, we were typing/talking fast; didn't notice the mistakes til you mentioned them
I'm feeling a bit picky right now, since an old friend picked on me earlier for talking about meat when she's a veggie. (On FB, not on here, btw.)
IRL I often say things backwards. I hate to tell you how many times I have to retype what I'm trying to say here sometimes in a fast discussion.
Last night I told a friend of my dtr's not to "drink drunk" and meant not to "drink and drive"
if I get upset; I often get whole phrases back-a**wards. I AM the queen of spoonerisms
No shame in that, Nef.
I was watching 'Nurse Jackie' (a US medical drama) earlier with my son and NJ told a patient's husband, 'I'm not going to blue sky you. It's not looking good!' 'What the bloody hell did that mean?' asked my son. 'I've never heard that expression before.' 'Neither have I,' I said. 'But I know what she means. She's not going to tell him everything's sunny and bright and the outlook is good.'
I think I would have known what you meant re not to drink drunk, too.
I've never heard that phrase before either, Jac. So it isn't in *this* part of the US if it's a common phrase elsewhere
okay, oscars over, dinner done, going to get three words and then back to the grind
Nef - the Nurse Jackie series is set in New York. (City, not state.)
Just 3 words, stid?
well that was fast... LOL yes, that gets me down to 80.
I'll be back soon. *poof*
LOL! stid "hits and runs" again. I bet you will get more words from this grid than most will, stid
Hi -- back post-Oscar and post yummy dinner (catfish au gratin, brown and wild rice, baby bok choy)
My grid's been all done for some time if any clues are needed.
41 left here and I don't care ;-)
Oh heck! That's 2 friends on here and one on FB that have been watching the Oscars. I HATE award shows.
Your loss, jac.
37 left here, but I want to finish. I'll just keep plodding along though (presently stuck in the mo's)
jilli - I don't like cat fish or brown rice, but I do love pack choi/bok choy.
I like watching animals in zoos too.
May I please have a clue for to6-18? Thanks
LOL, jilli. So long as you watch it for the cruel humour value, that's fine.
gap - more to4.
peach, I love the way you just arrive, igoner the chat, and beg clues
oscars done. bored now. waiting for flip.
*ignore
Oh, not another Oscar watcher!
*ignore. LOL
Thanks, Jacula.
i watch them every year..i got 6 out of 7 predictions right.go me. :P and thts all ill say on that topic
y/w Gap.
Well, gee whiz, jillibus.....guess I just feel like part of a family.
now I have the psot-Oscar fashion parade on, lol
Jilli - I don't want to know who was wearing what.
*post
neither do I -- I just get a kick out of the commentary
LOL
I just like to keep in touch with unreality
i had no idea kirk douglas was still alive.. i bet they were just humoring him the whole time.. hes senile lol
poor old Kirk -- determined to overcome that stroke he had.
Kirk Douglas, as far as I can tell, might well outlive son Michael.
not nice to laugh at Kirk
i think i need to watch the king's speech and the fighter.. t hey look good, ive seen social network and inception
King's Speech is wonderful!
i absolutely adore helena bonham carter so i'm sure its good!
I've never laughed at Kirk.
oh, me too, cos -- she's just too fab for words! :-)
I loved The King's Speech and am so old I remember those circumstances quite well.
The King's Speech, so I've heard, takes liberties with the facts, but is a good film nonetheless. I also want to see Yogi Bear film and a couple of others.
You didn't, Jac.
I mean you didn't laugh at Kirk, Jac.
like the social network.. takes liberties with facts..but i thought it was a great movie
still haven't seen Black Swan . . .
I understand that the grandson of the speech therapist for "Bertie" found authentic notes and diaries which were used for the movie.
Our local cinema has the cheaper ticket thing, but you have to buy it for a year. Usually, all the films I want to see come in a bunch all at once, so the ticket is never worth buying. However, in 6 years and 2 months' time - I can get an OAP pass. Half price for pensioners, plus yu get a comfy seat and tea and biscuits.:-))
yes, jilli, I read about that -- amazing, eh?
Black Swan is another I'd like to see.
am sure it's a fish, but clue for on5, please?
black swan looks great... the winter bone too.. and the kids are all right
Une - it's a salty ending sort of word.
Our movie theatre is unique -- just a former little church building which can convert from movies to other uses, having moveable seats. Before each performance, instead of a string of commercials, we're streated to a lovely slide show of Salt spring scenes.
saw Kids Are All Right and Winter's Bone -- both for a dollar via Redbox -- really really good
tx jac
I'd like to see the other contenders too and I understand we can get them on our cable TV
on5 -- pandemon***
sounds great, jilli :-)
Une - y/w.
little town nearby used to have seating in movie theatre that allowed for a little table with drinks . . . and smoking (gasp) -- long gone alas
oh, une, that sounds really civilised!
that's where I first saw midnite showing of Rocky Horror :-)
I've never seent
I've never seen that
never too late, jilli! LOL
Yes, I remember smoking in the cinema, too. You could do it on the left of the screen but not on the right. (No extractor fans to stop smoke drifting, though.)
i miss smoking . . . sigh
Shock, horror! Jilli's never seen The Rocky Horror Show either live or on film? *gasps and faints*
Some day, jac...
Une - we're trying to give up smoking here in our house. It's a slow process.
LOL!
We were too busy travelling to dog shows in those days
I'm hungry!
I don't miss smoking ONE BIT.
ill have a cig for you Une
No more stinking ashtrays et cetc
after all these years, I miss it at times of extreme strees . . . and after a good meal . . . and with drinks
tx cos LOL
i did buy some e-cigs.. they work ok.. i just gotta get in the habit of using them
*stress
no tar or anything.. feeels like ur smoking a very heavy cig lol
i've heard of them and wondered . . .
My d-i-l's brother has stage 4 lung cancer. It killed Geroge VI among countless others. QUIT.
jilli, I quit many years ago
I smoked from age 14 on, quite in 1989 with the help of nicoteme gum and Paipo (fake cigs which dragged like real ones).
i know i want to quit.. unfortuantely ryan smokes too and he wont quit.
btw jill.. icon theme for next grid? i have time now to change it so....? :)
sigh, cos.
see, that makes it really hard, I know, cos
just check my bio, cos.
Nicotine is as hard to quite as heroine, so the medics say.
when I first tried to quit it was soooo hard 'cause my friends smoked . . .
thanks.. checking now
my neighbors also smoke and hey hang out with us all the time. .so.... and my MIL smokes.. every one i know smokes.. all my friends... its hard
I deliberately misspelled that so as not to end up in the PB. LOL
but the weird thing is.. i quit meth cold turkey 6 1/2 years ago. how can i quit meth cold turkey and not cigs?
i believe it, jac -- good friend continued to smoke for several yrs after a radical mastectomy -- has finally quit for good but it was a long hard process for her
nicotine is deadly and the hardest to quit, we're told.
she spent a fortune on Nicorette gum
Une - I've gone into the local hospice to see realtives dying from smoking-related cancers, nipped out for a cigarette during the visit only to see doctors, nurses and patients (with mobile drips) out there smoking, too.
Une - I've gone into the local hospice to see realtives dying from smoking-related cancers, nipped out for a cigarette during the visit only to see doctors, nurses and patients (with mobile drips) out there smoking, too.

I think the chog's broken again!
ok i added you... but sprite isnt on so i cant add her or can i?
awww, cos -- are those your pets?
yeah.. my dog and one of my cats
at least in the pic, your dog looks like my Beagle mix :-)
I think you have to wait until sprite is on -- which may be in the middle of the night for you -- she's in the Netherlands.
okay i will check im usually up late anyway
lol une.. my dog's a yorkie/chihuahua mix.. they call these "chorkie"
looks very sweet

Jac I love that video in your profile lol
I am done with today's work. taking another break... tomorrow it's all writing, all the time.
hey, stiddy
Well -- here's my pet/animal icon -- a drawing I did years ago of an ideal Dane head.
welcome, stid!
bonsoir, chere et belle Une! :-D did you watch the Oscars? when Helen Mirren was speaking and Brandt (sp?) was "translating" it reminded me of our language lessons!
gorgeous, jlli
thanks, une
ah, and a bone jure to the lovely artist of classy canines! *wicked mama look*
yes, and Helen did great -- only noticed one goof -- idiot is masculine, idiote is feminine
love that woman and man, did she look fabulous!
(maybe it wasn't a goof??? rofl)
i loved lvoed loved helen mirren in the queen
oh she is one of the classiest women alive, I think
:-D
me too, cos
grassy ass, stid <big spanish wink>
she was amazing in "teaching mrs. tingle" too
also really liked her in the police show on BBC several yrs ago
she plays heartless bi*ch very well
I missed the beginning of the Oscars by getting slaughtered at bridge this afternoon.
oh yes -- I rarely missed an episode of that... so refreshing to see a "strong" woman lead also have frailties
oui
rofl Jill!
Helen Mirren is magnificent
btw jill, your description of home-made computer mouse is TRES GROTESQUE!
I didn't write it, stid
oh, thank goodness! was worried you were descending to my level!
the source gives detailed instructions!
btw jill -- hope it's raining up your way and not snowing? we started this morning with a two inch accumulation that finally melted in early afternoon.
POURING rain here, stid -- snow in Vancouver.
we had bizarro 75 degrees today and tornado watch tonite . . . jeez
oh my Une! I hope you are sitting the safe closet?
Weather lately has been absolutley nuts -- very inconsistent like that.
i'll be safe when the sirens start -- supposed to have severe storm in middle of nite -- ugh -- which means I need to go ahead and give scaredy-cat dog her storm sedative :-)
good idea, une -- poor pup!
oh golly, Une... *soothing sounds to puppy*
We had a scaredycat Dane who used to hide her head under the TV if there was a thunderstorm.
finally gave up last yr and asked vet for prescription med -- she got so cared in one bout of heavy lightning, she actually gave herself a fever
*scared
(we raised the TV so that we could see it over the Danes if they got in the way)
jillil, this is hilarious!!!
not my dog, but your Dane story :-)
Danes are delicious
I am scared of lots of thundery storms, too... *shiver, shake* but I have access to beer!
We seldom get thunderstorms here -- lots in the summers back east
lovely, Jillibus -- the things we do for our furry friends
hi Christine :-)
lovely, Jillibus -- the things we do for our furry friends
lovely, Jillibus -- the things we do for our furry friends pains
