crys -- don't apologise to ME! I'm just sorry people miss such interesting stuff
how old are they crys?
oh i read it I just dont always change my icon
2, 6 and 11
I must stress that I don't determine the icon themes -- many people do.
oh boy, you do have your hands full - I understand
wow -- that's quite a spread of kids, crys!
my 4 were born between 1963 and 1968 - a handful but they also amused each other
aha, have nbt but no 8s or 9
I only had one so have nothing to say
Thats because I was too young when I had the first one so I needed to put off having more until I grew up a bit (also babies are hard work and wsnt ready to go down that road again). We were going to stop at 2 because we had the girl and boy but nature had other plans.
I have 5 words, haha
hubby started while I was looking for icon
Crys, I had mine close because I was older and we both wanted 4 children
having a first at 31 was considered old in 1963
still looking for the right column h -- stats, please?
funny nan
that's a chuckle
I had one boy and we tried for more but it didn't happen. Didn't know until about 9 years ago that I had ovarian cysts which prevented more.

i think i won a prolific game on facebook once with that word as the only points once
goodnight melon
{poof!}
finally got that so7 -- ty josh. I'm SO thick tonight.
do you know what it is josh? dictionary does not offer an explanation
nope, no idea
My Scrabble dictionary says it's a piece of armor for the foot - a variant spelling.
interesting, thanks broll, my oxford dictionary doesn't have it!
if you google it, you will see that the so7 is a piece of armour for the foot -- with a long point on the end.
i bet it is french
(sorry -- hadn't seen broll's post)
yes, it's french
he 7/36 my last 7...
thanks jilli, isn't in my french dict. either
it's in google!
Google is omniscient
but then, it's really a french/english
it is indeed, jilli - very useful tool
hands-free telephone? volley

no prob... are you still on vaca flosey?
no Dee, came home yesterday
always hard to say byebye to that little sweetie
oh, I bet it is!
am fortunate that he lives so close though, my other grandson is in Toronto - but he and family are coming out in July
oh that will be great fun! How many grandkids do you have?
that's it Dee, the 2 boys, the one in TO is 13
neat different ages to watch
bet they are handsome
he's really looking forward to meeting his 'Canadian' cousin - his others are on his mom's side, she's Philippino
I think they are handsome Dee - and both very sweet, loving
Will they be able to stay long? I can't imagine they would be anything else... great genes!
ah, thanks, will be here for 2 weeks
Wow, you will be walking on air. I love, love, love long family vacations!
I will be, for sure, Dee
well, I must be off for now. Glad you had a great time and made it home safely! *poofing with hugs*

so goodnight all and *poof*
goodnight jilli, see you tomorrow - and yes, I could walk!
if the road was safer!
(I don't think I like this grid)
el
not that bad, jilli, but then I had help too!
should get him to open his own account! then we'd have a competition
well, I'm not all there tonight
but the happy hour is such a nice idea
it was fun as usual
we keep saying that we'll get the neighbours in for a dinner and chance to meet each other - lol, still to come!
I appreciate having neighbours nearby now - didn't have any for so many years
well, it's easier when it's just a pre-dinner get-together
oh yes
no heavy obligations that way
now, if I screamed, someone might even hear me
well, I was almost alone here for quite a while, amazingly
true, we really don't want to start anything, just a case of getting to know them all
they're all younger, two of the couples have young children
sads
hi sugar
hi flosey, lurking......
well, I was lucky in that my present neighbours are not that young -- next door are my son's age with grown kids and the round-the-corners are between them and me in age, also grown kids
hi sugar -- I'm not here, as you can see -- went *poof* a while ago but I guess i lied ;-)
Glad I'm not the only one, lol
where in the UK are you, sugar?
Peterborough, East Anglia
There's a Peterborough in Ontario too.
Both are probably the same temperature (as in chilly)! I'm from South Africa, so usd to much higher temps!
right now it is still chilly, summers are lovely though
I think the Ontario one is chillier
yes, I would expect so
Spring is on its way here, just had a super week of higher temps which means I spend more time out walking with my dog
I grew up in Shanghai and recently checked the latitude to find it is the same as Jacksonville, Florida, so no wonder I find this climate too cool in the summer and even though it's warmer than most of Canada in the winter, it's colder for me than for many of my fellow residents.
we've had so much rain here and grey days -- sun is a joyful rarity
Exactly jili, I think our bodies never forget all that glorious sunshine and warmth!!!!
you'd think I'd be used to this climate after decades, but noooo
how long have you been away from South Africa?
4 years
oh -- not long at all!
No, still get homesick at times, but there's lots about UK that I like
I left Shanghai in 1939! But lived in NYC (hot summers, mildish winters) for many years.
WE have ursh here in Babble, from South Africa -- have you met?
No hope for me then, with regards to adapting to the cooler climes!
Your body may not be as stubborn as mine, sugar!
Yes we have met, I've been babbling for a few years, but I don't chat as much as I used to
lol jili, I bet it is!
I think there's another S. Africn
..babbler too -- can't remember the name (sorry, finger hit Enter at the wrong time)
We do tend to creep in everywhere.....bit like the Aussies
down to 8 but too tired, off to bed, goodnight jilli and sugar
see you tomorrow jilli
we had several really nice S. African doctors here but they've all left our island
night flosey, sleep well
g'night flosey -- a demain
Dr. C is from S.Africa, jilli - originally English
Probably couldn't take the cold jili
Dr C? The ones I meant haven't left for warmer climes -- just went off island.
sugar, the climate here isn't all that cold -- very much like the southern UK, unlike most of Canada
Crichton
I can't take Toronto summers anymore!
Oh -- I hear he's great, but not taking new patients, boohoo.
yes, tried to get my young friend in, but no!
I LOVE our few really warm summer days
because I know how to behave in the heat
lol, swimming, you mean?
Oh, okay - I tend to think of Canada as being covered in snow for most of the year, I obviously need to broaden my knowledge, I'll come on a visit when I win the lottery!!!!
that, and other ways
you'd be most welcome, sugar!
Thanks jili !
well, goodnight now, for sure!
Goodnight again, flosey, lol!
Hah, that's what you said last time flosey - goodnight again!
well, it's fun having a nice quiet chat with good people
while we find words
Time for me to take a walk with my girl, there's a lot of sighing and pleading looks going on, great talking to you jili and flosey, see you next time, maybe
your girl? Great to have met you, sugar -- hope to do so again -- have a lovely walk.
My girl Bailey, a spaniel x, a very special companion
Snuggles to Bailey from this dog-lover
thanks jili, bye (waves)

Ruby - you star. So obvious. I will now go and get clean,,,,,,,
we love you just like this.....
Aah
this is a kind grid; it accepts both English and American spellings!
i think i enjoyed yesterdays more as it flowed quicker!
bfn smaandmea
I loved it, but it was too big for me and I ran out of time
off to make a cuppa, i'm freezing and the heating is on!!
ttyl, lillian
if ha** is a word, why isn't hehe?
There seems to be a lot of compound words in the grid today.
hehehe
do you have the 9 zzoozz?
So we can still laugh..LOL
I did clue the 9 earlier, Ruby :-)
how much earlier, zzoozz?
the 9 is a silly word in my books
your books are important to us, diz! how are you feeling?
Hello, Dizgrannie :-)
the 9 is the area of the anatomy that hurts from a hangover
So9/66 compound word if you drink to much booze you will get a so******* in the morning + plural
a bit of a so4+he4 and plural
Now why can i not clue like that, BR.
Hi!!! All.
And hello, Br!
great clue, diz, ey*he** didn't work (although of course I tried!
hello BR
wow, half just slipped by.....
Hello
husband has just started his annual campaign to kill the grass! it always starts our beautiful and long with tiny pink flowers and then he cuts it shorter and shorter until it's brown
phantom: kestrel
ruby, haha is a type of wall or fence in landscape architecture
LOL..just found a cartoon character woody wood pe****
I thought it was an "eme" for SMS
mine just has dandelions ruby:( little pink flowers sound much nicer
thanks zooz
they'll be gone in 10 minutes and in the bottom garden where, fortunately, he won't mow (I think) there are violets everywhere and some pale yellow primroses
sounds lovely ruby
it would be, if he'd leave it alone!
I don't let him near the flowers
I kept some of the geraniums over the winter and, because it was so mild, I'll be able to put them in the border where they'll flower all summer
i let hubby cut the grass(when he's here) but not weeding or cutting trees or bushes! i've done the same thing with my geraniums but it will be a bit longer yet before i put them back in tubs
did all of you get sc**** from you sc**** isle?
I put the old ones in the ground and get new ones for the planters, because they get too leggy otherwise
was that the monarchs staff ruby? sc7/8? i had that already.missed your clue as i was in kitchen
I think this is a U>K> puzzle with le** and the other one
i take cuttings from mine every year to replant
no, I figured you'd get that ha**
I didn't know you could take cuttings from geraniums....duh
do you have to put them in hormone cutting solution?
i dip them in a bit,but when i haven't had any i've still just planted them in good compost and they're fine
what a great idea! sometimes we find beautiful magenta ones in the garden store, but not every year
ஜ۩۞۩ஜ FIREWORKS ஜ۩۞۩ஜ
yay for zzoozz's pictorial fireworks!
there are some beautiful types of geraniums and it seems a waste of money to keep buying more when you can take cuttings!
yay! wtg zooz!!
how to you get the picures zooz?
I think I learn something new everyday in babble (like ha**)
and plural ;-)
I just copied & paste into notebook and save it for when i need it.
oh ok, ty zooz
â•”â•â•â•â•— ♪ ║███║ ♫ â•‘ (â—) ♫ ╚â•â•â•â•♪♪

Oh, for heavens sake. I have spent ages looking for the royal's staff .. (lady in waiting, butler etc). Maybe I should go back to bed!
it's not staff as in butlers it's an ornamental staff, made out of gold i presume(ball and sc*****
and pl and there are 2 different spellings of it
I know, Lilliann - I could have kicked myself when I found it... LOL

Ivesy - that one drove me mad... think of the jewelled stick held by a monarch, goes with orb....
Two different spellings, and one plural...
thks soodle will work with that
It was clued earlier as Monarch's staff, and I was looking for butlers and ladies in waiting... Doh!

*Sets up breakfast buffet in the PB*
Hello MollyO. Did you win the lottery? (I didn't...)
No, some lucky duck in New York won. : (
But wisdom says I am to be glad for their abundance, as mine is soon to follow.
er.... (grudgingly) Me too!
And there will be no planting here today, as it's only 29 degrees. So we must come up with some "indoorsy" things to do.
Thats why they invented Babble :-)
I have been up since the crack of dawn - ferrying various offspring to various destinations.... I have a few short hours before I have to make the return trip....
I keep finding h's but none of them seem to be the ones in the far right column.
and good morning, babblers.

Kap, I had the same problem with that pesky H.
Hi Kap & Lynn :-)

c
I haven't been here since Monday--I've been so busy.
hi, it's early for me - my daily paper was not delivered this morning, so my routine is a little off
down to 10... trying to fiish before work
I go crazy when that happens, J. I need my routines intact.
I do not like to fall into a rut, but my morning coffee and paper is a time I enjoy
It's so nice to hear that people still read the newspaper.
Me too, J. If my paper hasn't arrived, or is buried in a snowbank (our papers get tossed at the end of our driveways), I go on our paper's web site.
Oh, I do, Molly - international, national and local (no sports) -
Routines! My morning routine...check my e-mail, babble till 8 AM, then have coffee and a bran muffin and read the paper. clean up and/or babble until it's time for the gym--(I work later)--what would we babblers do without our OCD schedules?
I've got my paper in my lap.
There is so much more to print news than you get on the internet.
I'm so much fun to live with.
Yes, Kaplan. I am a planner and when my plans are disrupted I get agitated.
well I've had so many big changes in my life this year, the comfort of routines is good for me
I hear you JBV.
s
One of my friends laughs at me, because when we walk I must plan where we will cross the street even.
I have to get to the movies early so I can get choose my seat. If I get there and the credits are already rolling, it's too late.
Routines help us maintain a sense of control.
a friend of ours just published a book based on his newspaper reporting last year - fascinating for anyone who has a mind for white-collar crime - but as I'm reading I realize that most of this was in the paper......
tceicher, you have been stuttering a bit. Out with it.
t
I don't think I'm like you in that, scrabbler, or Kap
DW!!!
Haha, JBV, then you aren't as pathologically OCD as us.
Thank you, scrabb.
I had an experience as a young mom that opened my eyes to how people are affected by self-imposed guidelines - I had an opportunity to see a good high school friend who was in town for the weekend,
I am not routie drive... the exact opposite actually (at least outside of work)
kje, is that the same as fireworks?
but she couldn't see me because it would interfere with her baby's nap (3 months old)
I didn't say I was healthy.
LOL!
yes
direworks
Congrats kje!
ok. off to shower ad get to work - hagd all
Direworks = needing to find 50 words when flip time is 10 minutes away.
New parents are all a little bit insane.
Congrats & Bye kje
I also had a 3-month old at the time and couldn't understand why someone could not just pick up a baby and take it anywhere
This is true, JBV.
I am not rigid, it's just that I get a bit irritable and anxious when my routine is altered. One of my friends is nearly manic and is totally spontaneous, always changing plans, so we laugh about each other's behavior.
s
you must be quite a team, scrabs :)
Yes, at that age it is easy to carry the baby around.
There can be some tension, J!
I have a sister-in-law who's like your friend - it does raise the blood pressure a bit, but I can easily say no
I always have to review the next day's plans with her--first we do ___, then ____, then ____.
When I flew out to Santa Fe one year to spend time with them, she met me at the airport with tickets to the Santa Fe OPera for that very evening
My spouse used to be the typewho would get to the airport when the plane was already boarding, and run like hell.
I would have like to just to home and take my shoes off
You can't do that nowadays, anyway. They have to inspect your socks and take away your water bottle while they are scanning your body.
I avoid movies, concerts and plays because I get overstimulated. My brain cannot handle those types of things--I cannot sleep afterward.
If she has a layover of more than an hour, she's figuring out what she can do - visit a museum, have lunch with a friend !!!! - I'd sit down and read a book
I am going to fly in June (hiking trip in Bryce Canyon, Zion Natl Park and the Grand Canyon) and am already anxious.
I actually can't plan ahead- it makes me anxious when someone asks me to commit to dinner next week. And I can't overstimulate my brain after 8 PM- but I can watch movies. Just can't have arguements,
I totally get it, scrabs, but planning ahead does ease the anxiety, right?
Other than that, I am completely normal.
My manic friend cannot sit still to play cards, play a board game, do a jigsaw puzzle. She is always moving.
Committing to the plan is hard.
I get that too, Kap
Yes, Kaplan, I am like that too. I must plan my plans carefully.
Kaplan, I am exactly the same. Planning ahead makes me really anxious, yet I can do things on the spur of the moment. Booking flights is a nightmare, yet I was fine when you could just go to the airport and get a stand-by flight.
Hi everyone.
Hi hydra
hi Hydra
my husband used to say I worried too much (when planning trips) but I say anyone who doesn't think of every eventuality just doesn't have enough imagination - I prefer to be prepared
I could never do that, lynxxx.
Me too, J.
I agree, JBV
Oops it has gotten late again. Goodnight all
Night lynxxx
Sleep well, lynxxx. I just woke up after a nice slumber.
I don't, however, need to finish my babble grids. Some of you may think that irresponsible and hedonistic.
Just remembered I have to go out. See you later!
But you gotta go wild somewhere!
Life on the edge- not finishing grids.
actually, scrabs, I'm thinking about that now -about how I'd like to go to Italy but I feel absolutely at a loss about travel to Europe, I need to get a lot of information
I have a passport. Step 1 - check
de
but what about money, phones, driver's license - don't have a clue
This was yesterday's non-plan for me. My car needed an inspection ($21 but less with coupon) and a new motor for rear-wiper (I didn't know how much that would be but I decided it was a necessity), and the total bill was $1002--brakes, motor, etc. And I trust this car mechanic too.
oh dear
Tceicher- speak up!
I hate when that happens
I no longer finish grids unless they are smaller, Kaplan.
on the other hand, I think most people who know me think I roll with the punches pretty well - did I tell you I had to replace my heating/cooling system, scrabs - $8000!!
J, if/when I go to Italy I would have to be with a tour group. I will need someone else to plan everything.
good afternoon all
spouse plans everything. I just go along for the ride.
Yikes, J! I got a new furnace maybe 6 yrs ago---$6000. I did not have AC installed. Being in the woods is nice--even if it is hot during the day it cools down a lot overnight.
Hi Sprite
I missed my husband a lot during that H/AC episode - he usually handled contractors and stuff like that, but I did it and it's done
hi sprite!
And arent you proud of yourself, J?
This is where I realize I take spouse for granted.
I always did all our vacation planning - tickets, hotels, car, itinerary, - the only thing he did was pack his own bag, I drew the line
Kap, every day I think of reasons to miss him - it's good to remind yourself once in a while....
absolutely, J!
yesterday in the supermarket I was behind a lady who was complaining that when she shops with her husband, they always spend more money (I was thinking I would gladly spend more if only...)
I here you, JBV.
Hear.
yes, scrabs, proud of myself for a few things lately - I also handled the entire estate thing without a lawyer
JBV, I had to replace my heating and air conditioning system this year too. I know what you mean about feeling "spouse-less" when things like that happen.
I have to mention my darling brother-in-law, though, who was here to support me - by the way, they LOVED the lobsters I sent (for anyone who remembers the story)
If I die first, he will drown in a sea of old newspapers and unfolded laundry, and if he goes first, I will have to check the oil in the car.
or get someone to do it for you Kap :)
Oh yum, I remember the story. Good on your brother in law for lending a hand.
Kap, Jiffy Lube every 5000 miles is a single woman's friend.
amen, Molly
I depend on my father for advice about big repairs and purchases. He loves to do the research and comparisons of products and costs. He will be 80 in 6 wks.
Not even going there, molly.
Haha, Ruru would, Kap!!!
scrabbler! iwas ust thinking about you last night!
Will someone please wash out my mind with soap?
(Molly's going back to reread her comment....)
Hi Owl! How have you been?
hi TO
hi TOwl
I'm really getting dotty. "I" didn't even go there. And that is usually the first place I go. Pass my cane please.
Kaplan, many terms are loaded with double-meanings.
Don't I know it!!!
hi all. i am ok and you?
At least I didn't mention anything battery operated. : P
Waking up, doing my morning routine--tea, newspaper and Babble.
I am just starting to drag the chog down several levels, so I am going to go get dressed and come back later.
battery operated lube? Gad am I behind things
thanks for the laugh, Kap - have a good day
Okay, I will wait for you, here in the gutter.
:)
I find these comments particularly amusing paired with the old lady icons. : P
*grins*
Especially yours, Ms. Supreme Court Justice. : D
I don't know enough about her to venture an opinion whether she'd be amused or shocked :)
Oh she had to carve her place in a man's world. I'd guess she'd be amused.
I think so too! She wouldn't have survived without a wicked sense of humour, I think.
omg I found a compound biggie combo all by myself! Yay me.
I found one 7 but no other biggies.
Yay Sprite! I found it by myself this morning too. Hooray for little proud moments.
amen to that :)
And I found that faster than that buggery little H in the last column. Which looks so obvious to me now that I want to conk myself over the head with a tuna.
you will, Scrabs :)
*saves the tuna and makes a salad*
Happy Saturday, Babblers
have 119 and now having to really look hard
Hi Aloy
hey Aloy!
I am up to 80 but am mostly reading the newspaper and thinking about breakfast.
hello aloy
sipping first cuppa here, thinking miniwheats for breakfast
i need to get to costco before it opens to the public but not likely
wish we had a costco near us.. went to Sam's Club yesterday
How do you get in before the public?
Do members get earlier access?
businesses do
hi Aloy - I love Mini-WHeats
have a business card
with or without milk, the frosted ones
slice some banana in the bowl
no frosted, here, I'm counting points - but I just tried almond "milk" - very nice with cereal
I will have Greek yogurt mixed with something--fruit and cereal.
my daughter is making me brunch. I am having a bad day, hubby is tearing down the garden fence because the neighbour's renovation is starting on Monday... am fighting panic attacks he4.
ooh, love Greek yogurt.. bit expensive tho; is there a brand you prefer, Scrabs?
Why does your own fence have to come down?
what the heck is your neighbor doing ?
oh sprite, they are tough
because the builders need to have access. They are going to... what is the word... building an outcrop?
I have tried Chobani, Yoplait and Oikos. They are more expensive but have more protein and less sugar.
the texture is wonderful
their house is gonna be bigger. Where part of the fence is now, will be their wall in about a month from now.
i eat chobani. how is the yoplait?
And Stonyfield Farm.
so, I hope you are receiving compensation, Sprite.. or are you just being a supernice neighbor?
scrabs, any idea why greek yogurt has less calcium?
ugh, that's awful - sprite, it happened to my sister
The Yoplait has more sugar because it is made with fruit. I usually buy plain yogurt then add Splenda, fresh fruit and cereal.
no compensation for things like that in the netherlands. They have a right to expand their home. We will have to sit out the ride. But we talked with them... they are gonna keep us up to date about what is happening, so that will help me be less panicky.
yogurt on top of granola, yum
chobani flavored has so very little sugar esp compared to regular yogurt
and I love greek yoghurt
I didn't know that, Owl. I mostly look at labels for sugar, fat and protein contents.
they could at least help with the labor of tearing down and reinstalling the fence!
nor did i. btw i have decided to rish going on prolia in wake of bad news re bones
risk
I have osteopenia.
true, Aloy. But they are not very handy and my love is. He is trying to make a construction that will provide a little bit of privacy while they are building.
part of my t score is now 3
not familiar with prolia, TO.. how risky is it?
On phone with Mother.
well it is a bilogic like remicaid for arthritis
ah yes, I remember the house he built for Terra.. nice!
biologic
Terra still loves it so much :)
my hubby and sons built a really nice house years ago for our pup.. but unfortunately, a wasp stung the pup when he went in it, and he would never go in it again!
aww what a shame :(
well, time to get going. happy babbling to all and a good morning/afternoon/night
well.. some lucky pup got the house, so it all worked out
bye TO
bye TOwl!
hagd, TO !
good morning / afternoon all
hi wvteach
hi wvt !
Scrabs, say hi to your mom for me, ok?
why isn't yeehaw valid?

thanks for that one, Aloy!
yw
h
morning everyone!
hi Angela
hi to swmbo and Angela
morning angela
ooh, sprite, just found se6.. do the same
I had to sign off quicker than usual the other day...did anyone ever hear back from Lickety and Mr. P about their house and car?
just on fb, Angela.. how horrible. House is ok, thanks to a helpful neighbor.. car is ruined totally
what I meant, sprite.. se 6 rhymes with the others
Does he know what caused it? That is so horrible.
investigation going on
thanks Aloy, looking. What's up with the house? And all I heard was that the car was burned to the ground?
(thanks, got it, nice one!)
the house is ok.. but would have burned except for a heroic neighbor
Ugh. Poor Lickety family. :(
couldyou please fill me in? What happened?
takes me back to playground days
All I know is that Lickety and Mr. President's car was burned to the ground and his house was apparently saved from the same fate by his neighbor...
(hope I got that right???)
right, Ang
sounds very scary :(
MrP posted a pic on fb
Good morning
morning Mr Bob
I can't even imagine. Especially if it was done on purpose.
hi Mr Bob
Thanks for the info Aloy.
Hello Babblers! How're y'all doing?
hey bob
hi Mark
hey mark
hi Mark, okayish he4.
finding some I should be looking up
I understand, sprite. I just came off sickness, and I am feeling much better! Today, I am seeing the play Jackie and Me. I am really looking forward to it!
glad you are better, Mark
that is great, Mark! Glad you are feeling better and enjoy the play :)
Thanks, Aloy. I haven't seen you lately; :(
Thanks to you, also, sprite.
I beg your pardon? The puzzle doesn't allow asher!
have been lurking a lot.. for speed purposes.. lately Life has been interfering with my retirement, too much "volunteer" work to do. Next week, four days of conferences, the first two on phosphate mining and the next two on water quality
I see.
computer training too.. shouldn't complain, learning a lot, keeps me out of trouble, lol
wow Aloy! Busy schedule.
for another month.. then I'll be going north and mainly working by computer
hey!
hello jeffrey
hi jeffrey, welcome to Babble
thanks.
what part of the world are you from, jeffrey?

Hi Jeffrey. Sorry, i stepped out for a moment.

Bye Aloy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
thanks Aloy and bye, have a good day!
There is a name of a famous musical artist in the puzzle today.
*When aloy leaves, chat becomes quiet*
lol am busy finding my last few words, sorry
:) Good for you!
NBT for me
good job Mark
thx sprite. Sandra Day O'Connor... Hmmmm. Good woman.
good morning everyone;) my first word is sc8/50:) may be hope for me today;)
interesting lady :)
hiya crossy, wtg! You will love this grid.
Hi crossy! I don't have that one.
and in my perfect size 150-250:)
hiya crossy :)
a magicians tool mark
howdy angela
plural tokens of reign
I have the king's tool...
thats even better
alt. spelling, Mark
thx sprite and crossy!
remember mark,i will always do the britt spelling first, just had to go back for the american version now;)
yvw
Hmmm...shows whom I am.
as soon as you said alt spelling,i knew what i had missed sprite;)
lol isn't babble a wondrous thing :)
May I have the 9 for halfway?
Yes, sprite, it is.
it is amazing how the way your word come together can give you away
it is indeed sprite
for instance our customs down at pearson can tell many things just by how you say the name Toronto,it is very interesting
I don't have it yet, Mark
the 9 is a compound word - so 9 / 66
oh I do now. Painful top of the body, and plural.
thx wv and sprite, halfway there for me!
most of us say Toranna or torrono very fast and fluid but many people from out of country will say T-or-ON-To with heavy emphasis on the t,s
ty sprite
Funny, crossy. I would say it as T-or-ON-To.
and many words liker, git, bugger, wanker, pin one as britt or aussie
as would I...
I would say it like that, crossy.
Then again, no babbler knows where I am or live, except for a select few.
spell a movie place and a cabonated beverage for me mark lol
or what crayolas come in many of
Wait, I don't get it.
'morning folks ... serviette or napkin :)
how these words are spelt can tell much
howdy welki
colour or color... sprite or spright... theater or theatre... aluminum or aluminium...
one would think that the move from the states to canada would be an easy transition, but i can tell you that there are so many subtle differences between the two countries and cultures that it made my head spin
hiya welki
wether you say pop or soda, theater or theatre, colour or color ,honor or honour and opn and on
i say behaviour...what does that say about me?
Ahhh, I am no longer confused! Yay.
it is wild welki,i am in the customer service business, and we can tell (most) american without even looking at the licence plate with or without accent
that you know how to spell, lol. How about neighbour?
lol sprite :)
the 'deer in the headlight look,' crossy?
all kinds of example, vey interesting the way language develops and alters itself
I get my hand slapped by spell check for that one word all the time. And I'm born and raised in VT and NH. Huh.
From the way I type crossy, can you tell the place that I am from?
not quite welki,it is hard to define, sure an accent helps, but it is the way one carries oneself and reacts to certain situations
you must be a closet brit, angela :)
BBL
if you are from georgia for example and step off the plane at pearson in january we got ya lol
fireflies! Lovely grid. Interesting but doable. must love and leave you all, have a great day/night and thanks for the company. *hugs*
bye, sprite ... 'night
sigh...that would be lovely welki :)
even close places like detroit or michigan..we used to see a lot of those plates till the U.S dollar tanked
bye sprite!
tc sprite
bye mark!
and of course family heratige plays a part
people say i still have a tiny trace of a brooklyn accent (and i know it's more obvious when i'm ticked off)
we actually are not even taking U.S dollars at the station now, lose 2 cents on each plus bank fees or opening an american acct, not worth it anymore
yes indeed welki,my britt comes out only when i am steaming mad
but if you go to the bank to exchange CA$ for US$, it's still not at/above par :(
again bank fees
I do not have an accent. I sound perfectly normal. Not at all like a New Englander.
:)
where in vt, angela? (i used to come up in winters, would rent a house in jamaica, londonderry)
was not so long ago we were paying 45 cents extra to get a u.s green back
I was born in Barre, then moved to Keene, NH.
Love this area - not many places as beautiful. At least to me.
oops, sorry .. you said NH and i saw VT (selective vision .. just like selective hearing! LOL)
No, I did say VT - your eyes are fine :
*scrolled back* i get it now ... i must need more coffee.
I second that Welki...
i always wanted to pop down into maine,i hear it is very nice
I mean, for me...need more coffee...
I eloped to Maine almost 19 years ago...Wells Beach - one of the prettiest places.
our 18 is this year angela:)
Best thing I ever did :) He rocks!
:)))) very cool
July 4th of all days
i've been to bar harbor (harbour!) and bucksport, maine .. i absolutely loved bar harbor
oct 1st for us
We just went to a wedding in Northeast Harbor last July. Hit Bar Harbor while we were there. Beautiful area.
our son was born in feb, talk about getting it done before the dress does not fit anymore;))
but with the exception of paris, i don't think i've ever been to a place that i didn't find something wonderful
congrats crossy :)
We only dated for about a week before we got married so I think everyone expected that of me as well...no kids though :)
Just silly in love :)
a week?? lol
Yup. We were friends for a year, but the minute we started dating I knew.
well it was 6 week before she move in,we were engaged for 2 years
family and friends were very surprised...
well with 18 years in,seems you 2 were right:)
you didn't like paris welki?
Morning, Babblers :)
howdy nono
morning nono
I just love your stories of romance Angela and Crossy. I met my hubby in August and we married in October that same year
I would say we have the right to be smug crossy - got a few years under our belts!
still get butterflies when he pulls into the driveway...
my better half was the one to propose...crossy is shy:)
ok, enough of all that gooey stuff :)
shy? really?
My Mom was sure I was pregnant but no kids for a bit more than 2 years and we were together 44 years until he passed last year
lol
hi nono
that's wonderful that you had so much time together nono
(no, within 24 hours, i'd arranged to get the heck out of paris ... i think it probably had to do with the time of year. there in august, all to friendly folks must have been away on holidays)
44 years..lol makes us a pipsqueak eh angela
that it does
awe you'll make it that long too crossy and you'll wonder where the years went
just bad time all around in paris?
I already wonder...
funny, the last place i would ever go on vacation is paris. no desire.
i can still make her laugh, and know how to make her blush, and i put a pretty flower in her long hair, but the hair always diminishes the flower and i see the 20 year old girl i dated all over again
just a really bad experiece .. very rude and arrogant folks
aw crossy...I'm all choked up now...so sweet!
;)
crossy your wife is lucky lady
nope..i am:)
speaking of the princess,i best put on the kettle and see if i can pry her out of bed,brb lol
really seet crossy, many more years of bein g together nothing like it!
good luck crossy!
i have fireworks here and really must get some things done. have a great day everyone

Oh crap, I meant to say ocean. Off to the PB with me.
hi all

howdy jmc
ad 6/7 to stick to
ty crossy
sheesh it doesn't like sheesh
god bless enable;)
thing hates most modern computer terms also
yes we are jmc...let's hear it...
okay
i was representing demonstrators down at the court house early on in my career as a DC attorney
I had no clue how to do much of anything but i knew it was unreasonable for the police to jail people for a nonjailable offense just because they wouldn't give a name the police believed
so i went in the to lawyers lounge to make some calls and figure out what to do next
there were 3 or 4 lawyers one of who challenged me and claimed i wasn't a lawyer--idiot me i offered to show him my bar card rather than just flip him off
but two of the lawyers were sweet and nice and helpful
one who looked jewish and one who looked hispanic
the jewish looking one was particularly helpful and I finally got my clients who had been locked up since Monday out of jail on Thursday
Thursday we were standing in the hall in front of the lawyers lounge and he was next to the door and the door kept hittinghim
Crossy gets the best husband award.
i said we could move and he said it wasn't a bother
i found out later my blouse had fallen open and i didn't wear a bra in those days and he could see my right nipple--he always said he fell in love with my right nipple first
we went out friday night and the day concluded sunday morning when i went to meeting
lol @ right nipple
Holy smokes, JMC!
hahaha - that's a funny story, jmc
HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! That was awesome!!
we moved in together depending on who you believe in one or two months and were married a little over a year later
he would always say he met me at the court house--and i was a working girl
(which means a whore)
lol
loved that man to death
again...awesome. great story.
I met my hubby in his driveway. A mutual friend wanted me to meet him, but then took off on me before he came outside. There I was, petting his dog out in the driveway, when he walked out the door. We were married three months later. Now going on 29 years.
wtg trent!
nice...
People don't believe me when I tell them I met him in his driveway - all by myself - ha!!
help with the left C please
stats on the 9 please? (not clue- just stat)
i do because sometimes you just know
Left c...to stop.
i was proposed to 13 time but married only once
I guess it's so/9
and it's compound
wow jmc
thank you
that was the right C but I needed it too
Which left c?
Got it. Great word.
I need the top e in the fourth column, please
Ce**pool
whoops - no, I guess I have that one, sorry
I need the H in the last column
looked at someone trent
ty kap
TNana...that H drove me nuts this morning. Think of a laughing sound, then plural.
TY, Molly!
ty i was trying all kinds of laughs but not plurals!
nbt
nbt for me, too - finally!
My hubby and I started dating on a Thursday, were engaged on Monday, drove to Maine and got our license Tuesday and on Saturday, July 4, got married in some lady's living room. Her kid was ticked cause he wanted to watch saturday morning cartoons :)
lol good story angela
I walked down the "aisle" from the dining room to the living room...tripping over the dog the whole way. Even put Rian's ring on the wrong finger... hehe
Angela* a woman who makes up her mind quickly*
hi ru
she was even faster than I was!
how long have you been married, Angela? I thought we got married quickly!!
hey ru - can't pick out a pair of socks, but life altering decisions...no problem for me.
This July 4 it will be 19 years.
Wonderful!!
Definitely is.
my wife tried to get rid of me on a few of her friends while we were dating..
I love to hear stories like that because some people think you should date a minimum of one year or two years, etc. I see people who are together for years, get married, and are divorced within a year.
Morning (or whatever) Babblelanders...how is the grid?
He is romantic like crossy - maybe his canadian twin???
i wanted to get married sooner but my silly hubby had some notion we had to live together for a year first
when you know, you know in my book.
People thought we were crazy and now I just say, "na-na-na-na-na-na!"
keeping up the romance helps
Yes, it does, jmc.
morning jilly
and keeping up the conversation
hi jilly
We just knew, that's right, Angela.
my husband and i met online, chatted for a year, met in person and i moved to canada 6 months later
i was actually running a bar with a 26 room motel attached to it and need 2 cleaning women for the rooms.i phones the temp service and they sent 2 ladies down for interview.one of them was my mrs.i remembered her from an adult education top up class for getting your diploma(the building was next to the food wholesale building we used) and of course she was 20 and thin and had legs up to her neck and hair down to her tushie.i was 27 and of course hired her on the spot.we used to chit chat as i assigned rooms or did payroll it it got to the point where i could see her face when i slept, when i ate,my paperwork was a shambles as i was daydreaming bout her all day.one day i have her the 4 rooms(2 upper and 2 lower) closest to the bar as i was tending it and could sneek looks at her as she went back and forth from the linnen closet to the rooms,i was going in and out of the units she was doing on the pretense of seeing how she was making out and if she was settling into the job.took me 3 hours and about 5 "visits" to get the nerve up to ask her out ans she said yes;))
when my hubby went deaf it got pretty rocky
Communication, respect and keeping the fire burning - all helps.
wow crossy quite the love story!!
Wow, JMC, how did that happen?
my tiny one was under crossy's novel :)
amen trent!
great story, Crossy
I saw it Welki. ; )
lol sorry welki
it was part of the hereditary cancer from which he died molly
after 19 years romance = he does the dishes and the laundry without a single complaint :)
but a good story none the less welki!
Aw JMC, what a gyp.
lol welki
I love to hear online success stories, too.
I met mine because my college friend dragged me to dinner @ college cafeteria...she was attracted to one of his friends. They never ended up dating, but Doug and I have been together now for 31 years!
Okay...grid time....
awww, sorry jmc
cool jilly
how so molly-- we had a great 11 years and i wouldn't trade it for the world
that's a great way of looking at it, jmc
I'm glad you got that JMC. Something to treasure.
how long has he been gone?
he died nearly 20 years ago so don't fret folks
romance :)
hate to go, but I have way too much stuff to do - thanks for the great stories everyone!
you never remarried?
my boy was 7 he was 40
bye angela thanks for sharing
that's way too soon to go jmc.. sorry
enjoy your days everyone - and your spouses :) *poof*
nope never could date without it interfering with the boy and he was my priority
I told my hubby I would never remarry if something happened to me. It would not be fair to them - I would constantly compare him to my hubby and he would never come close.
how is your son doing now?
Dr. Laura is proud of JMC
well when i met him we never thought he would live to see 50
whoops, telephone...bbs
really?
my son is soon to graduate college and already has a job (better than I am doing in that regard)
well, that is good

Way to go JMC's boy!!

on the other hand if someone knows a relatively cute funny guy . . . .
ok, gotta run - be back later
I am enjoying these stories, guys.
nice chatting all
never trent . . . you are never prepared for it
bye trent
problem with babbleland is all the guys are married or gay!
;-)
Met my hubby when I was 17 when he came to our small town to work. He was 19 and homesick... my family actually embraced him before I did !! We dated for 3 years, ( two of which we were apart, and I've got over 200 sweet letters from that time) We were married in 1960 and almost 51 years later, we have 4 grown kids, 10 grandkids and a great-grand on the way. Life has been great, and you are right trentsnana.... it's a lifelong project requiring many things !!
Isn't that the same problem in real life JMC? : D
nice -- I bet you cherish those letters
lol mostly molly
the single babble players dont' chat..jm..lol
i have a single 60 year old working for me and everyone says we are like and old married couple because we have worked together for so long
*shudder*
What a real, gutsy, "we'll face the odds together" love story JMC. It's one of my favorites. Thanks for sharing it.
hmmm i guess i need to draw them out
t's trammeled.
yw molly i love to tell that story because it reminds me what a funny guy he was
I do jmc.... and I've even given a few of them to my kids to read when they were teens... it gave them some insight and made them realize that there parents were teens once too and had the same feelings and turmoils.
*their parents*
oh what a good idea diane

Getting anything special at Ikea?
kitchen cabinets falling apart for last 20 years.
Sounds like a good incentive for going to Ikea
We are refinancing and rolling up our credit card debt so may be able to ek* out some moolah.
Might as well make the most of your investment!
Well guys, it's a sunny day here in Montana, so will leave the 46 for evening...bbl..happy babbling everyone!
<----- is not happy with Chrome, which keeps crashing. Is also not happy with her students, who are also crashing, at least as far as the last exam is concerned.
I am not at all impressed with Chrome, Sue.
I have liked it for a while but now it is starting to give me trouble, so I am back to Firefox.
I read that some people think that Google rolled it out before all the kinks were fixed.
There have been some updates but I'll wait for a while. Maybe I'll reinstall it at some point.
Afternoon, kiddoes!
I was thinking about a young man Jason Ray who was killed 4yrs ago at the UNC game in NJ. He was amazing and his organ donation saved many. If you havent had a chance before, you should check him out.
Hi Judi, Hi SueF
hi, judi and sue!

Something else we can thank Asia for.

Damn, Geraldine Ferraro died.
I think it's spelled schwa?
Butter? Don't eve know her.
*even*
I saw that, Molly, and she wasn't all that old, either :-(
I looked it up, uusue. It's a word.
She had been sick for years
True, DR, but still sad.
She had a type of blood cancer. Very sad.
yes it is sad. I heard her speak when she was running for VP
Gerry Ferraro died? No kidding. Who knew then that the next female VP candidate would be Sarah palin?
I'm not even over Jane Russell and Liz Taylor yet.
got a 7; now all I need is an 8 and a 9 for nbs :-P
reading back on the chog log and how some people agonize over their daily routines ocd i suppose, seems common in babblers.i have a binder listing all things that need to be done that day as far as bill to pay.appts etc and get thrown for a loop is something unexpected has to be added to the day when it is already upon me,but with travelling you can give me 20 minutes notice and i can pack a spare change of clothes,my ebook reader,a bottle of whiskey and my passport and i am instantly ready to go anywhere on the planet some visas, and a credit card, some local cash and i am there:) everything in a single carry on dufflle bag;)...well i guess i cannot take the whiskey on board anymore;9
you can take 3 ounces of it, I think, crossy :-)
Good for you, Crossy. You can take the whiskey on board if you buy it in the airport. Go figure.
lol,thats mouthwash lol
can you? if you buy it there?
did not know that
maybe if you buy it past security :-(
crossy wonder is a texas mickey can fit in overhead compartment....
or I suppose you could pack it in your checked bag...
although on my last trip I put all my disallowed items in my checked bag (like a full-sized tube of toothpaste, the horror!), packed them carefully so nothing would spill and would be contained if it did (inside plastic bags). Got home, opened the bag, found everything all over the place, and a note from the TSA that they'd searched my bag. Sigh. Fortunately it only had clothes and toiletries in it.
guess i can no longer hide diamonds in the toothpaste tube....
hi all! how is babbleland for everyone today?
howdy ballet
Hiya, ballet!
Well, I don't think they opened the tube, so you could probably still get away with it :-)
hi, ballet!
You don't have to hide diamonds, crossy. They aren't considered contraband.
no,i mean coming back in lol
well they sell all sorts of things after you get through security, and they've all been checked for dangerous whatever... so you can buy a big bottle of whiskey and take it on the plane with you if you like.
Avoiding paying import duties, crossy? :-)
And, if you're smuggling diamonds, you can afford to charter your own private flight.
there are also bars in the airport that you can enjoy before you board....
anyone live in the raleigh, nc area? I'm searching for apartments and could use advice.
not me, ballet, but i think there are some babblers in the area
No Ballet, but I've been there. Nice area. By the way I looked at your jewelry site. Love the crow feather earring.
yes, i seem to remember hearing about one or two, which is why i asked. But oh well. I'll continue my search for now.
Aww thanks Molly! How kind of you. I just started up the shop and am slowly filling it up...
well,i must leave you all for now.time to head to the shop.tc all and happy babbling! poink!
bye, crossy!
Bye, Crossy!
bye crossy!
what is everyone else up to as of late?
I'm currently ignoring the two heaping piles of laundry.
haha me too, Judi
I'm grading exams, and getting depressed by the results.
On the other hand, someone else had taken my class when about 2/3 of this material was covered, so maybe I can blame it on him :-)
Oh what do you teach, uu?
university physics, ballet :-)
ahh yes! I think I remember discussing this with you. :)
Well, if one student gets it right, you know you've done well. Right?
There you go :-)
lol
And I did run into one of my former students recently, who told me he always wears his seatbelt because of my class - that makes me feel good.
36 left. Time for a break. I guess that laundry will get partially done.
bye, judi!
You'll be happy when the clothes are done, Judi! :) bye for now
Tata for now. *POOF*
I think it's amazing the things that stick with you from a course. That student remembers to wear his seatbelt out of all the things you undoubtedly taught him... it's interesting.
well, that was a different course - in that one (gen ed for non-scientists) I tried to emphasize things that were relevant to everyday life.
Understandable.
hello everyone :)
I must be off for a bit. I have to go over to the studio to finish up some work before Monday. See you later!
ooh -- am I scaring everyone away?
rest in peace geraldine ferraro - a true blazetrailer

Ooo, Misery is on TV. Cathy Bates is creepy in that movie.
i have a trivia for that movie actulaly
I've seen it enough times, I'll give it a whirl.
anjelica huston was offered the role of annie wilkes in misery but she turned it down to do the grifters. so the role went to kathy bates who won the oscar for it. anjelica huston was also nominated that year for the grifters.
what channel molly?
Oh, I thought you meant a trivia question. I can't see Anjelica as Annie Wilkes.
no she was amazing in the grifters though. she made the right decision
TNT Cos
aw its almost over ... ill watch the rest of it.. :)
I wish I had a dollar for every time each one of my sons has said "HE DIDN'T GET OUT OF THE COCKADOODY CAR!!"

She played a radio announcer in The Stand.
no i know there is another one.. what is it....

Speaking of Delores Claiborne, I've only seen a few actors pull off playing the MISERABLE drunk that David Straithan played in that. I love him.
oh god if i saw annie wilkes walk in my house i'd crap my pants
You'd better not, Mister Man!!
she might put bullets in em

Geraldine Ferraro passed away, for those old enought to remember....
such a trailblazer
That she was...
shes the first one to actually touch the "glass ceiling"
I think she put a good crack in it! LOL
lol true true
hillarys the one who shattered it though ;-) but gerry put the first few cracks in it of course
I am so thankful to have been a young woman when role models like her (Geraldine) blazed the way. I always felt that I was not held back by any gender issues...but my dad had some measure in shaping that as well
thats awesome. in a way gerry did more for women than hillary did in 2008 because back in 1984 it wasn't so.. you know?
Hmmm hate to follow my last comment with this one, but I must toddle off to...clean the house....LOL bbl for flip
have fun m off too!
*poof*
hi all
stopping in to remember Shirley Chisholm, too - she was nominated for President - that was a big milestone

Hi Min..How are you?
yw Shirlockc.
I'm well Boobear. I am saving my last 2 words for later
nice. Did you do the big grid yesterday?
Hello Babble friends. :-)
been lurking and grading, now off to the mall to buy a nice birthday card for my dad - he will be 90 on Thursday!
Haven't Babbled since Monday.Very busy week for me
oh ok
How is your dad doing, Sue? And your dad's wife?
Happy Birthday to Due
Interesting busy, Min, or just busy busy?
Happy Birthday to Sue's Dad
My life is NEVER interesting so just busy busy I guess.
Ah, 'tis St. Soodle Of The Lottery Winnings.
Most interesting part of my life is here in the chat log
Correction, Moll - 'St Soodle on her knees praying for a lottery win' Soodle!
Practicing manifesting Soodle. See it, and it becomes real.
clue for du5
Sue, Dad is going to be 90? Wow. Hope he has a happy day.
du 5/16 is plural of the du 4/7 word before it Boobear
du + sale circulars in the paper
du 4/7 word is du plus abbreviation for tv commercial
Oh, I know, Moll. I spend money as if I had already won the lottery (practicing, as it were...) And now I think its time the manifestations came to pass.....
I tried that but it doesn't take it
Sounds Biblical Soodle...And the manifestations came to pass...
ok ty
hello dear freinds
The manifestations can do whatever they want to, as long as I come into money PDQ!!!
Hello Trifioso! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid
(((Trif))))
Hello Trifioso
I am avoiding doing all the dreaded, but necessary housework by spending time in lovely babble land
What house? What housework?
I have days like that too
Housework??? I remember housework......
My theory about housework......
now that I am working almost full time, I just cant seem to keep it all in balance. I will get there....
If you do housework, you are houseproud. Pride cometh before a fall. Ergo, if you do housework, your house falls down.
It's called working two jobs Trif.
LOL soodle. At this point, I could swap in the vacuum for a flamethrower and be done a lot faster
My elder daughter just started a new job as housekeeper (formerly known as chambermaid in pre-PC times) at a 5 star hotel. She was horrified at how clean they expect her to make the rooms....
She's going to be even more horrified to find how people leave those rooms.
It won't do her a bit of harm, Moll. She is 19, and in college, and has never had a job in her life.
Plus you can get in a lot of Mom zings about what it's like cleaning up after people all the time. : )
Hmm. It was after me making the 'Your 19 now, and must start taking some responsiblity for yourself' speech that she went and got the job. She is now flaked out on the couch, declaring that she is worn out. Sheesh!
wow, my babble just freaked out
wow, my babble just freaked out
we have honey bees in the kitchen dozens of buzzin bees! any one know why they are coming in from the rain?
What happened Trif? (disgruntled that my babble is the non-freak-out-version)
I thought all was well and cruising along, and then suddenly I realized no words were going in, and then I got about 25 red bars
Arrgghh. the dreaded red bars! Onyx, did you leave the top off the honey jar?
LOL Soodlebum!
not that i know of. but my son always does something like that in a place i would never look.
What part of the world are you in, Onyx? I haven't seen a bee in about 8 months.. Is it summer where you are?
california, and every thing is blooming now, citrus apricots lavender,
Oh how lovely. I love CA.
thhis is the 13 th day of rain in a very rainy month, getting a little tedious but yeah , am very fortunate to live here.
And, here in the country where it rains non-stop, we have had nothing but glorious spring sunshine for about 2 weeks now. Go figure!
clue for he 6/36 please
What the donkey said, Boo!
Seems everything is all mixed up. I enjoy the rain cause i know a long dry spell is just around the way, there have been years where it hardly rains at all. Enjoy the sun!
ty
if what the donkey says is a word then the red neck cheer should be a word too.
Yup, everybody is enjoying the good weather here. Its been the coldest winter on record, and people are in need of a bit of sunshine.
i'd have to be an ass to clue that for you boo
Cue Ruru and the donkey puns..........
:D
i've been burro-ed in the grid
hi Ruru
Oh stop being mulish.
hi there boo
how is everyone today?
Good here, Ruru, thanks. And you?
Hi, I'm just starting after a nice slow Saturday here in the Northwest. Cool outside, grey clouds, showers, blue skies, daffodils, crocus, suspiciously like Spring.
better.. doing much better.. I finally get to play tennis next weekend if the weather cooperates
Woo-hoo. Agassi is probably losing sleep at the very thought of it!
Hi Gmere :-)
clue for the last he4/5
Hi Soodle and ruru.
You might have he**-worshipped your teenage idol, Boo
no.. he isn't soodle.. he canceled and is going to play somewhere else in a senior's tournament..we are all bummed about it
however Jose Higeras is losing sleep right now..the fear of facing my serve will give him fits
he 4/5:body part at the bottom of your foot Boobear
Agassi cancelled???
ohnooo, I'm so sorry!
Oh Ru, I am sorry to hear that. Clearly he heard about the opposition, and chickened out. Yah boo Agasssi.
stidgmere, do you garden? Do you know if Everett/Seattle area is more Zone 7 or Zone 8? I've been looking at sites, and can't get a clear answer for veggie planting...
Ch you want to talk to stidmama on gardening. I am horrible at it but she has a flair and passion for the garden. We have so many mini zones. We live in a "banana belt" because we are right on the sound.
Okay, will do. We live closer to the Cascades, a bit more inland from the Sound. I'll check with her. Thanks, Stig.
Yw. Somethings I know about but you want the best possible advise.
ru i am so disappointed you don't get to make an ass out of yourself in front of agassi
hi all back
i had some upsetting news!
Hi jmc! Hope your day is going well.
my son's college graduation is the same date as two board meetings and my farewell party and a big national event i have to organize!
nice little palindrome in there today
*throws books and chairs around office*
sheeds
oops sorry everyone
at least it wasn't a real word
hi alem
So there is a day in the future that you don't think is going to be so great. Sorry jmc you need a clone.
two things neither of which i can miss!
sounds like you need 3 clones
what a horrible dilemma jmc!! You could forget the board meetings but the other two both require your presence!
i can forget one board meeting-- i am just the treasurer but the other one is my job!
you can get a day off your job for a graduation!
sheesh is to put is mildly
Bugsaw shall we pretend to be jmc for a day and help her out? Why does it sound like a plot from I Love Lucy?
by the way in case you need to know backberry doesn't accept the F word
lol not from my board's meeting bugs!
great plan stidgmere! i will take the graduation ceremonies since none of my brood made it that far. :)
*sobs* but I want to see my baby graduate! I missed my own high school, college and law school graduations!
I shall do the retirement ceremony since I've done that and it was fun.
I'll represent you at your farewell party. Sounds like I wouldn't have to do any actual work, just be gracious. since the graduation is already taken
then be the boss and change the date of the meeting. I think you are underestimating how much you are loved.
have your son carry his laptop around and you can be there via skype
I think we have the problem solved jmc. Are you saying you never graduated for the degrees you got the jobs for? Are we to talk about the great imposter here?
multiple laptops at all locations, skype them all
no unfortunately the board gets to pick the date of their meeting it is the only thing i can't boss around
no i was sick with fever all three times
the only one i regretted was the law school
you still need to tell them of your dilemma
there will be a Way
I found out at finals time, it didn't matter if I didn't feel well. I still had to show up and take the final. After a couple of times I just didn't use the sore throat, can't swallow or breathe gambit any more.
i will--i think if I leave the board meeting early i can make it to part of the ceremony and then the next day if i leave the other part of the ceremony early i can make it to my party
then i see the grand finale instead of going to Meeting for Worship on Sunday
Oh,JMC, that is horrible dilema..... You will be torn in many directions...
sheesh is to put is mildly -- guess which word is in our grid today -- but NOT IN THE DICTIONARY!!
of course my son has to come to my party too!
see? but we will all be on standby for the free food and smoozing just in case
i know alembick isn't that ridiculous?
If you are retiring, what are you planning to do next? When all the day of committment activities are finally over.
you can come for the free food and smoozing any way
Yes, Bugsaw, I shall be ready with frequent flier miles in hand ready to board Southwest Airlines flights east.
i am working until july 31 (or just before because there is a big quaker meeting that lasts until the 31st)
i will give a free pass to any babbler that shows up at my party
we can have a big slumber party at my house since i will already be going insane
after july 31 there is no telling what i am doing since i have yet to find another job
Hmmmm. Sounds promising. Does a slumber party require insanity or is it the result of unbalanced thinking?
i think slumber parties require a soupson of insanity
Maybe organizing parties for Babblers. Sounds like a full-time job.
lol
i could do that but would it pay?
absolutely they do jmc. especially when we all deny we snore lol
i admitted it :-P
Run a tour of the DC area for out-of-town Babblers.
lol
Packing PJ's and toothbrush, in hte unlikely event soodle wins the lottery and has the wherewithal to attend JMC's party. Hakuna Matata..
i'll have my figures crossed for you it is may 14 so you can get a relatively cheap flight with a saturday stayover

ok, anyone want to help me with an etiquette dilemma? i think i failed
I can try
i as in church and the lady in fonr of me had a bug crawling back and forth along the top of her coat. i did not say anything; should i have?
i was fascinated and horrified, it just kep gong back and forth
if you felt comfortable with it, you could have tapped her on the shoulder and told her and ask her if she would like you to remove it.
lol, I would have freaked.
well one problem: it was a stinkbug.
I wouldn't have touched that with a 10 foot pole.
i put o n my glasses to check out what kind of bug it was but hard to see brown on brown
I was reading about them in the paper this morning
i was worried it was going to crawl into her neck since it seemed to use her collar as a highay
you could have said to her after church, you might want to shake your coat off before you go home. there is a stinkbug on it
did it?
I read that they smell really bad
well i never saw one until four years ago. i think they were first found in PA. well it went around the front of the shoulder. she did brush as if something tickled her
Hi All. TO, I am not sure I would have told her either...
well then it took care of itself then.
Hi Red
Hi Mom and TO.
i guess... hi red
sorry that Florida lost today's game
for a stinkbug I would not have mentioned it. Unless I saw her after church. Would hate for her to have smacked it
really. but i have no idea what the etiquette is.
they smell awful, musty. sort of like curry.
I would say if you saw her after church, mention it but I wouldh
t have during church given the type of bug
I have never smelled curry
but I do know what musty smells like
and they show up everywhere, get in through the edges of screens
oh no! I will have to see what one looks like and keep an eye out
you should go eat, mom, it is getting late. you have never seen one?
I never thought curry smelled like musty? Hmmm.
no, never
well i think curry smells bad so they smell like musty curry. or maybve it is just projection, since i don't like the smell of curry
just in the last year or so bed bugs have gotten to be a problem in this area. Knock on wood, we haven't had them
Hi all! Just getting here.
i need a mew mattress :(
hi car
Maybe I love curry, sooo.
Me too TO!
Hello Car. E how are you?
Hi Car.
Hi Red! I am exhausted! Just took a nap....for about 4 hours!
I love the serta perfect sleeper mattressess
Hi Mom!
Hi Car
And Hi TO!
hi Boo!
i may just swap out for the guest room one for now. what if they haul away an infested one and the truc is infested?
How is everyone tonight?
I'm well-ish. had a crazy day.
true, TO. Makes you leary
Is the C in the upper right hand corner a CW wierd welsh word??
I just looked at pictures of stink bugs and have never seen them in our area
fireworks
nope, Red ce 5/12
congrats Boo
TO, when I bought my mattress, it came all wrapped in plastic. Yu could have them deliver it to the out of the truck, strip off the plastic and have them then carry it into your home.
Yeah Boo!
our mattresses have always come wrapped in plastic, but bedbugs were not a problem then
hey babblers, mind if i weigh in and ask for mattress advice?
ty all and have a good nite
hello Gortmold
hi gortmold!
pleasant dreams Boobear, see you tomorrow
hey there mom, do you know anything about latex mattresses?
no Gortmold, I sure don't
no worries mom
I'm sorry
good idea red
My Parents have one gort. they dont like to admit it but they are not in love with it.
i want to bake but cannot, i am too full to look at any food
do they ever complain that it's too hot, red?
if I ever get my house TO, I will need to also think of these things, so thanks for putting it into my mind...
I can ask, mostly that it sort of molds around the body but is not as supportive as a spring mattress, which doesn't :mold"
you mean bedbugs? or stinkbugs? gee, can i helo you with anything else, like palmetto bugs ? :/
roaches? termites?
Oh I hope not! the new home has special anti bug crud built into the stucco...
probably will give me cancer.
gee THERE's a thought
Hello all.
2ns re 5/18
plz
What has happened with the house Red? I thought you would be in by now
my ex bro in law had a trailer everyhting in it emittted formaldehyde
hey lyn
hmmm, thanks for that red; latex sounds perfect re bedbug resistant, and enduring, but lets itself down in the overheating and not supporting departments
I have never seen a bed bug, a termite, a stink bug, or a palmetto bug
You know, oddly I rarely see roaches. probably because of the chemicals. I discovered by running early in the am that the essentially "fog" the entire town almost daily for mosquitos.
Hi lynxxx! Hi Ivesy!
Mom....you need to get out more!
I am very curious about the sleep number bed though.
I know Red, I am so sheltered
hi car!
I have never seen a roach either
SHeltered from insects. not bad.
hi Car
Ivesy, I don't have it yet.
We do see them outside in the morning. BUt its Florida. we grow big bugs.
and lizards.
My sweetie says the next mattress we will get will be a sleep number
i have seen two of the four.
what does that mean mom?
now are palmettos roaches?
np car
it is a mattress that has adjustable firmness controls for each side of the bed. So I could have a soft side and his could be more firm
Ivesy I don't have it either
That re5.18 may be sighted again
Essentially yes they are large roaches.
ooh that sounds fandangly mom, wonder how that works
ty lynxx !

bye Gort
Yeah gort! Bye!
wtg gort
ok, break time. bbs
whoo hoo gort
Bye to!
sorry got distracted by an email
hi lynxxx and just fine red
you are buying a house? i guess i am not up on your gossip girl
boy you get distracted for a minute. . .
anymore job interviews jmc?
no but a spent 2 hours today trolling for jobs
I thought Red had contracted to buy a house - but that was some months ago now - not sure what happened
what a horrible task! almost makes me long for when you had to pound the pavement to look for work
buying a house is hard
she did Lynxxx, and I believe she is waiting for final paperwork
<----- can't think....heading back to sleep. Good night everyone!
thanks for the update Mom, glad it hasn't fallen through
bye car
jmc, when our youngest was looking for full time work, everywhere he went they told him he had to fill out an application on line
'night Car
good night Car. pleasant dreams
nite car
you're welcome Lynxxx
yeah now you have to email the resume and writing sample no matter what job you are applying for
i guess it means i can at least apply with my nightie on
that is so not right. Who is to say if they even look at them
well who was to say if they looked at them before when you dropped them off?
let them see you, see the potential, hear it in their voice.
well at least you had to hand it to someone before they put it in the trash
now at least you prove you can use a computer
true
but you use to have to prove you could type, take dictation
Been on the other side. Can assure you they are looked at. When you have up to 100 applicants for a job, narrowing down the choices via resumes is the only way to go - you can only interview 10 - certainly not 100
once during a recession i had three feet of resumes sent to my law office
heck shorthand is a thing of the past
everyone can type now and no one uses dictation anymore
lawyers write their own briefs on their computers
I didn't think they did jmc
is it a special program or just a word program, jmc
i prescreen them lynxxx by asking for an essay on conscience objection--if they don't bother i toss the resume
just a word program, then you email it to the printer who lays it out and emails it to the court and the opposing attorneys
our resumes are scanned by a computer program, if you don't match the buzzwords, yo are not rated eligible
i feel like a luddite sometimes
impressive TO
(I did eat .... ham on rye)
depressive. good mom, i was gong to nag again :P
wow TOwl, that is amazing (and scary)
cool but i don't think any outfit i am applying to is that high tech
not high tech, cheaper
now I need to go write a story about how our library has helped me out. If my story is selected I can win a nook
ooh i hope you win mom!
crossy loves his nook!:)
I do think you mean book - but a nook might be interesting
stiddyis our resident storyteller
I personally don't want a nook, but I would like to try
i am not using mine as much as i thought i would
barnes and noble ebook reader i think mom means, but i could be wrong
lynxxx, an e-reader.
(((Crossy)) hello and your are correct
oooohhhh, lol. No Barnes and Noble here
i use mine for books, data storage,i have about 200 songs on it and about 100 pictures
none here either lunxx, had my brother bring me one on his way through the states last year
let me run this by you all .... 5 years ago I signed up for a quilting class. Youngest was getting ready to graduate high school and I thought I would need something to help me with the transition. When I arrived for the class there was a lady there that I knew but couldn't remember her name (she was one of 12 children) I dated her brother for 2 years back in the late 70's. she looked at me and I looked at her and we both said you are a (Insert maiden name) and we have been best friends since
have about 400 books on it atm
Back from dinner....full tummy.
Hi Gapeach

yes, Lynxxx that is what I was thinking. Had I not signed up for the class and Rose did 2 weeks before me, we would never of reconnected.
sounds like a good kernel to make a 500 word story..lol i am a taurys,i can make a 500 word story out of going to the store for a can of bean, wife sats i was born with the verbal trott;))

welcome peach...no more bowing and twirling tonight...LOL
Thanks much, MP.

my pc is wack, i need help
May I please have a clue for any of the sc's? Thanks
king's rod
all i ahve
Thanks so much, TO.
hello all
Hey there, Jillyjill.
kings rod spelled two different ways and last one pluraled GA
Thanks much, Jillyjill.
actually, think the different spelling refers to a ghostly appearition
ty ijillyjill
i have lost my toolbar and myn taskbar, i am going crazy here
go to tools and revive which bar you would like
hi y'alls, and my phantom is aerosol!
howdy gwen;)
the toolbar is hide unless used. the taskbar is visible until i start ie and i have pointed and pointed and can't raise it
IE?...ewwww
do yourself a favour and load firefox
they have a new 4.0 version and it is nice
hi TO, and sounds like your puter might be on its way to crashing
more pressing issues at this time
gwen there were funny bue and white bars at the top of the page when i launched ie
(PS -- and you can get firefox free, safari free, and google chrome free, all of them are more stable than IE)
I.E has long ago fallen by the wayside against firefox and google chrome
(I use all three of those browser, and IE almost never, because it's crepe!)
i have ff,chrome and opera on this system atm
ty for the advice. i really would like to get my setting back right now, before trying something else
i hear ya!
how do i get to tools since i cannot see the menu as before
let me launch my IE and see if i can help you, just a sec
any clues for the two ya words? ty
nm
seems that the instructions for getting the toolbar on IE to show up, is to "Press ALT" -- does that do anything?
ust pressing that key does not ty
(POS instructions from the POS website for POS microshaft!!) Okay, next it say s . . .
1.Open Internet Explorer by clicking the Start button , and then clicking Internet Explorer. 2.Do one of the following: •In Internet Explorer 8, click the Tools button, point to Toolbars, and then click Menu Bar. •In Internet Explorer 7, click the Tools button, and then click Menu Bar. (Yes, that is totally useless since you can't click on TOOLS) !!!
evening all
hi dan2!
Evening, Dan.
In IE, if you can see the bar that has the "favorites" icon, you can right click on it and then click "menu bar" (that has the "tools" link)
evening all
have you tried right-clicking on the menu bar? that's all i can think of
start button not visible
Hey ther, Pini.
You don't have start button? You might have to unplug the puter
god bless google chrome and firefox
both are checked
unplug before shut down> I shut down twice already but did not unplug
and from the grid, what is not a word, but what I say to the IE business: SHEESH!
you should also have a start button on your keyboard?
how did you shut down if you can't see teh start button?
toolbars are locked i shut down via tasklist
It almost sounds like your display settings have been altered (to a setting that is larger than your screen, if you're not able to see the tops and/or bottoms of things)...but that's only a guess
bottom is light gray where taskbar should be. taskbar DOES appear upon startup, but disappears when ie is started
menu bar is visible upon moving crsor over top
You are in deep, TO, sorry i can't help you better!
* thinking * TO...
well first things first, need 3 words
TO...try pressing your F11 key
I can help with that....
It sounds like you're in "full screen" mode...F11 to get out of it
P's pounced
yay dan2!
TY PINI!!! MWAH!
although i now have the google toolbar - and i don't know hat the hell happened
:)
hooray for pini and congrats to TO, woot!
right click on the menu bar and unmark 'google toolbar'...it'll go away
se6/7 combo pls?
* curtsy *
:D
and final tr5/10 and i'm done
do you have a lock of hair?
tr5/10...term for hair
ty i am pulling mine out about now
now to find those se
did the google toolbar go away?
se=se+ro4/4, change last vowel for 6 then add it back for 7
se + Ms. Parks and latin plural
yes! i HATE that toolbar
yeah, I hate it when they add themselves, too, TO...it bites! (glad it's gone now tho!)
se 7/8 combo in return please?
ty i was looking at the bottom and trying to type setose
compound for nori
pesky little things these grids are....
ty

A Mafia Godfather finds out that his bookkeeper, Enzo, has cheated him out of 10 million bucks. His bookkeeper is deaf, that was the reason he got the job in the first place. It was assumed that Enzo would hear nothing that he might have to testify about in court. When the Godfather goes to confront Enzo about his missing $10 million, he takes along his lawyer who knows sign language. The Godfather tells the lawyer, "Ask him where the 10 million bucks is that he embezzled from me." The lawyer, using sign language, asks Enzo where the money is.. Enzo signs back, "I don't know what you are talking about." The lawyer tells the Godfather, "He says he doesn't know what you are talking about." The Godfather pulls out a pistol, puts it to Enzo's temple and says, "Ask him again!" The lawyer signs to Enzo, "He'll kill you if you don't tell him." Enzo signs back, "OK. You win! The money is in a brown briefcase, buried behind the shed in my cousin Bruno's backyard in Woodbridge !" The Godfather asks the lawyer, "What did he say?" The lawyer replies, "He says you don't have the balls to pull the trigger."
