at what point yesterday did the server recover?
couldn't believe how bad the server has been for the last several...
I never did get that other huge grid finished
not sure josh... I didn't get back until 9 AM today
was it ok by then?
still wonky... I turned off my chat, and was exceptionally patient
took forever to finish
I finished yesterdays grid at 1.30am Perth Western Australia time
personally i would happily pay the pro user fee once over again if it would help improve server capacity and performance
bet you were sleepy all day
Must go - happy babbling

ahh thats better - helllooooooooo you all xxxxx
Hello frog and all
lol just me yapping then
oooo hello lyn xxxx
im not happy about h4/5 as it is an abbreviation
Hi. if you mean an ho, froggie, it may have started out as an abbreviation a century or so ago, but the short form has been in popular use at least back to the 1890s for school kids, especially in GB
yes, maybe and whilst I agree that language has to evolve, i do not agree with this particular word being a singular word. I haven't actually checked the Collins dictionary definition of this word, and maybe it is now an agreed singular word - doesn't mean I have to agree with it. Funny language is the English one, I have to say. I wonder if any other languages abbreviate words thus wise?
I should say 'common" use, which makes it eligible for a game that embraces worldwide common English usage.
morning all. how many words today please
morning sandra there are 249 xxx
can i just ask why some people come on and ask how many words there are - do some peoples grids not show the amount of words?
if u r not a member it doesnt show it
thanks
ahhh rite ty crystalle xxx
the Sats dissappear after 2 weeks if you don't go Pro
Stats too
Googled fast, froggie, and this came right up: Summer Reading: 52 Picks for the Ho--" Keem in mind, it may not have anything to do with what a dictionary other than Enable says, nor what you or I are comfortable with.
Some people (usually not ones who stay in the game) take offense at certain common words ... which may or may not be offensive (or even have the same definitions) as those we are familiar with.
see, jwr, my point is that i am happy for language to evolve - in most cases. I guess it stems from my love of Shakespeare - and the language in those days would confuse the heck out of anyone these days who hasn't studied it. So h***day is probably only rightly eligible for shortening rather than abbreviating I suppose. Ok I retract my grumblings and accept it as a word!!!!!!
DO NOT ACCEPT IT!!!!!
lmao crystalle
Crystallie - are you trying to make trouble???
if we all keep accepting all these abbreviations then our beautiful language shall disappear
if somebody doesn't like foreigners they are classed as racist/racialist - what would somebody who dislikes abbreviating/shortening words be called? Abbreviist? Abbreviationalist? Discuss!!!!!
On the contrary. English is spread across the globe because it is so wonderfully flexible
A well written passage inspires all sorts of emotions in the reader. The only emotion I feel at these words that are seemingly now acceptable is anger.
see, one could say that all languages cross over at some point - some may not say "on the contrary" but "au contraire" - excuse my french spelling lol
Hey all :)
cant say i feel anger at the modern language, but when one listens to the soliloquy from Hamlet one can only be in awe and respect for such an amazing wordsmith
hi miss ombnibus xxx
and not the good type of anger that may have been the writers intent but anger that some one has taken a perfectly good word and made it slang!
<3 froggy
If you stop thinking of it as abbreviating, shortening or otherwise -- ouch! amputating -- your Words, then it's easier to accept them as words in themselves. Bottom line, I'm afraid, is that texting and twittering and just plain being in the hurry life is getting to be, especially among the young, is the vocabulary of the future. (2) Crys, a word that has been used for a dozen generations to mean a particular thing is not slang, nor does it degrade literature, it expands it.
surely language evolves though - otherwise we would all be speaking 'olde english"
I do agree that shakespeare needs a translator though
i have studied English for many years and between the 800s and 1800s there was very very little transformaton. The last 200 years has exploded into a totally different style of speech
brb
So do we explode with indignation when someone says 'Phone' rather than telephone?
probably exploded with the 'commoners' being able to read and write
morning Haz
Good evening lynxx, good morning others.
My last word on this -- re Shakespeare -- this is writing that puts together words, not because they have particular meaning, but in such a way that the rhythms and sounds of them evoke the emotion or effect the image. It was not common language of its time, it was theater and poetry.
... not becuase they ONLY have particular meaning
Plus Shakespeare himself coined new words and phrases, didn't he?
actually that explosion over the last 200 yrs or so has come, in most part from the colonies (esp. Aus and US). When these areas were colonised by English speakers they often used new phrases - a sort of search for identity, so to speak. Obviously, they had a cultural influence on the rest of the English speaking world.
I do not mind that language has and continues to evolve but literature is such a beautiful thing. I read my nieces assignment which she received an A for and throughout the paper she used OMG and BTW . She used the ho4 word she also wrote and i quote " whom goes on hols in febs anyways . They oughta know better.
Hi Haz. Indeed. I remember beeing a bit put out when I discovered that Georgette Heyer invented lots of words to fit her Regency dialog. Now I love her for it.
gee thanks dachef - I knew we were doing something important down here!
We can thank India for our bungalows.
For example, the ho4 evolved in the English upper class school system (along with buggering and capital punishment).
Oh no -- please don't let us get into "borrowed" words, we'll never get back to the grid.
Telephone!
The problem I have is that the teacher and her mother both said that oughta and anyways were so commonly used they should be acceptable and also that who and whom are ixed up so often that there was no need to correct it
doncha mean phone
in my opinion...as an english teacher...i accept language is an evolving entity...but to me the abbreviation of the language as it evolves to fit the raging technological advances means we are losing the beauty of language... the only solution for me is to see our language evolve in two strands... functional and artistic..
Okay Haz. I done been got yer phone numbah: 1556. I'll buzz ya.
Well, I think the teacher and the girl's mother should be horsewhipped.
Hello Rolin
crystalle - i'm with you on that one. Rules are important, and they help to maintain the axis of the language, but at the same time I think language is like a species - it naturally evolves.
I have no probs with abbreviations or slang but I think that people should just remember that our language is beautiful
hey lynxx
Hello, rolin.
hey haz...
crys -- what state are you in, may I ask? The situation you describe is strange because as far as I know, the college entrance examinations (SAT's or whatever) do not agree. Thus, neither would the school if they expect graduates to go on to higher education
Let that young woman write a letter of application for work written in that kind of language and see what sort of response she gets. I think the real world still expects a better standard than that which the world of education seems to accept.
lickety says 250 what is the extra word
lickety. really!!!
Don't know Ron, too early for me to list
My old English lecturer at uni used to lambast the Americans for bastardizing our beautiful language, but I reckon its just their way of establishing their own cultural identity, which, because of their country's standing in the international arena echoes back across the pond.
That's what you get for watching so much telly over the ho4,5.
Not many Americans round at this time in the chat. Let's just blame them.
Oh, doooo try.
She attends a school designed for kids who are difficult. Unruly, repeat truants that sort of thing. So I understand that the teaching staff have enough problems just getting the kids to attend. Maybe it was just enough for them that she actually completed something
Without wanting to offend but kids today are brats!
Language will naturally evolve anyway as it grows, just like people, as it learns from its environment and those around it - 'olde English' was a mixture of Celtic, Cornish, Welsh, Saxon, Brittain, and a thousand other colloquial languages.
Not all. Not all, some.
Hi. I have to have my two cents. Kids are not taught these days till year 9 (15/16 instead of 11/12 the different forms of words. The other two pet peeves are revert back (not possible) and new invention and Fest and Feast
I actually have 2 brats and one in training if anyone wants one
my 2 cents is that ALL (well most) rely on text language
Thanks for explaining, Chrys. That's different, though hopefully if she masters the discipline, and can express things meaningfully (if not grammatically), the teacher could encourage more adherence to what are still basic English rules.
Well the thing is that people are not taught it. My friend was doing English stuff that I did at 12
No text for me
Herin - know what you mean!! I saw an advert yesterday for the new Lexus, advertised as 'the worlds first fully hybrid car'. How can you have a 'full hybrid'???
Mind you, the ad did have Kylie in it, so i let them off.
Yes, I find it difficult to understand teachers who can't find the words to explain 'Good try, but you've made some mistakes. This is what you should have said.'
Dachef that sort of makes sense. Fully Hybrid wouldn't that just be Electric or gas?
That's funny, Dachef. Which reminds me that the complaints about the bastardization of English seems to have started with advertising (that's ads or adverts, depending on your country). I can recall the uproar around "Winston tastes good, LIKE a cigarette should."
exactly - 'hybrid' means it is a mixture of two or more. It cant be 'fuully' a mixture!
or fully, either.
My b.f just said the best thing EVER about Fully Hybrid. It is like fully sick mate
You're fully right, D
Your WHAT, herin?
Ok it is an ethnic thing. Aussism. Like err My car is Fully sic mate = totally awesome
herin, you're making my stomach ache, I'm laughing so hard . ROTF, is it? No, the "what" referred to your using an abbreviation that is pure slang after all this discussion.
:D
Regretful though I am that I must leave this place of wit, wisdom and erudition, I must nevertheless make preparations for departure.
In other words, sorry, but time for me to go! Back later.
Have a great day Haz
Goodbye Haz
Bye! (Goodbye for the abbreviation hater society members)
Bye they way that is wat I am here 4
*gone*
Haz, lymx, chrys, rollin, herin et al, I'm off to work. May check in from there later.
bye jwr
Sorry I had to say that. Bye JWR
Why won't the grid accept 'canolas' - I am stuck on this ca7 word.
I think the 6 is a plural - you can't have a single ca6
May I compliment you an an excellent debate. You said all would have said (I hope). Also very entertaining.
Hi Patx
canola is accepted
and according to 'More Words' canolas is a word
Hi Herin My head is now buzzing whereas it was pure sludge yesterday with no Babble.
RON if you are about Sara just solved the mystery. There is a plural of that word
By the way, my grandson Patrick was born yesterday morning - all wonderful!!
ca6, use the hybrid letter and think of an adding machine
Ooooooooooo Congrats so cute
congrats Sara
O funny my cat wants me to stop workings
vanilla, I am too far gone into grandbaby world - in the words of Pauline Hanson - please explain!
ca6, has qu in it
and its all in that corner but not the n
ca + student + lineup
already got that one, I am after the ca7
there is also a ca6 ruler
and waterways
and war machines
Is it possible that the 7 is the extra word that Lickety has, Sara? Or has that been established as something else?
got the waterways - what I want is between canola and canon - sorry if I gave anything away
if Morewords has one of the 6's pluralised and Babble doesn't, it might be the discrepancy.
Good thinking City
I have nothing there
Ah, if Lickety has an extra word that is probably the answer. Thanks City 17. Will continue with the c's and see if it works itself out. Sorry for the confusion and thanks for the help.
not at all; I am glad to have it cleared up before I started looking for it myself ;)
I've been paining over the ca9,60 any clues/
looking for that one now, van
what one has when it aint a normal birth
thank you, dizgrannie :)
thats ce8 isnt it?
Yes but added Vowel
yw.
ACTUALLy no. It means someone to do with Romans
spelt the same way isn't it, Herin?
been looking at the other c, lol thx
no. You have ae for the Roman person and es for the birth
its to do with their ruler as in 6,21
Yes that Thanks Vanilla. I couldnt think
finally done with the c's and that ca 7 does not exist in the grid
Just finished the c's as well and agree with Kateq - naughty Lickety!
may I have an assist on the la 8? I have the 7 but...
la7's: hairspray; milk acid; pertaining to milk acid
nm--found it
la8: plural hairspray
thanks--found it as soon as I asked
I never knew (have never used) hairspray is "a kind of sealing wax"
If the power goes off, can put a wick in your hair and light up the room.
hello, back to hack away at the second half!
Is the total today 249 or 250
249 Gran
the ca 7 is the extra
hello lynxx and BR and kareq
and dachef
and dizgran and gran
hi Ruby and BabRab
Hello
no flooding this year BabRab?
Thanks
The prediction is for the river crest to be close to or exceed the record flood level .. light snow falling now.
ugh...better hoist that hammock up a bit higher
Have it hung between smokestacks
excellent, you'll get some heat as well
Battling the raging river every spring gets old.
which river, BR?
I used to live near the raging Susquehanna which was normally flat and shallow and which would flood every spring
'They' had some project going to get on top of it didn't they? Did that get started?
Red River of the North
aaah, a serious river!
The project never got off the ground for various reasons. Another one is running the gauntlet now.
hope the predictions are overstated then
taking a newspaper break
see you later
stay dry, BR and warm
bye Ruby
Fireworks for me - all is forgiven Lickety as I couldn't have finished without you!!
congrats sara
may I have a clue for the bottom right o and R pls
Congrats Sara
bottom R is rh4.5
always get me, ty lynx
Thanks sue and lynxxx. Bottom o's are oc4/5, oc5/12(sea), oh6/24, on4/5(only time), on4/4(similar to on4/5)
oc 5/12 -- large body of water
ty
nbt and off to school
bbl
the oh6.24 is actually oc6.24 - or oc & sharpen a knife or saw
ty lynxxx I was starting to go crazy over that one
great clue lynx
yw
hey!
Tough grid. Giving away for tonight. Bye all
Take care, Lynxxx ;-)
well. maybe I can finish this one!
Hello, Red, i am starting to think i would prefer the 510 sized grid to this one..finding it rather difficult..lol
so far on this one I have 97 words, but have to go to work very soon.
92 for me :-)
and I just broke 100. the E in the top row has been good to me.
Good going!
yes, I am relieved, but sad that it was not a biggie.
I love the very big grids..the smaller ones i fseem to take ages...lol
Taking a poll...do I go back to bed for 3 hours or suck it up and stay awake?
Depends, Car (Hello), if i went to bed again for 3 hours , i would wake up feeling worse if i had only had a few hours..but if had a fair bit of sleep then 3 hours would be worth while.
hey all
Hello, MissOmnibus :-)
Woke up several times during the night...feel VERY groggy right now...can't clear my head. Neck and back hurt as well.
heya Zooz
Hi Miss!
And good morning Zooz!
Then Babbling would not be any use to you if you feel bad..i would try & sleep some more ((Car.eeyore))
LOL Zooz! You should see some of the words I am typing in!
lol..bless you.
OK...this is silly. Off I go! Talk to you in a bit.
Hope you sleep well, Car :-)
Bye!
good morning everyone.
Hello (((MoM)))
((Zoozz)) hello
did you have a good sleep?
I slept very well thanks, You?
glad to hear that, since you were up so late. I also slept well.
I am finding this grid harder than the 510 sized grid..lol
I am just getting started, but I can tell I will have a rough time with it as well. Too many vowels
Trying to get to half way point..104 words at this moment.
good for you.
I only have 15 minutes this morning to play. I have a dentist appointment. I hate things that get in the way of babble
I don't need teeth to play
Must admit i was very greatfull when i first started to see someone cluing the la8 hairspray product..i would never of found that one..lol
Hi zooz - did you have any internet problems yesterday
Hi Kazzer
hi mom
Yes a fair bit, Kazzer, but it was alright in the latter stages.
Zoozz, does the la 8 use the qu tile?
Hope nothing too serious on the dentist departmant, Mom.
ours was out all evening - didnt get it till this morning
Yes it does, Mom.
oh no, just my 6 month cleaning
thanks zoozz
yes Mom - its another word for hair spray
Oh thats ok then..nothing to worry about.
nah, just hate losing that 1/2 hours. (Pitiful, I know)
thank you both. Got it!
Sorry to hear it was off all day, Kazzer...i had to babble rather late into the night last night to get the grid finished.
i just gave up in the end
Poor Dr_God, imagine the hate mail he must have gotten :-)
Yes bless him..has happened a few times latley..wonder why.
he said once a time or two before yesterday that the server is falling in on itself and he doesn't know why
I am not up on that side of technology so would not have a clue about servers..lol
neither do I
time to scoot. be back later today. ((Hugs)) to all of you. Thanks Zoozz and Kazzer for my 1 and only 8
Take care, ((Mom)) should see you again later i hope :-)
Leaving the ra5/14 on my horse to get a cold one at the sa6/18 - hopefully it wont sl5/12 out of my mug...lol - good morning everyone
i'll be off soon as well - off to meet my son in Taunton
does anyone have the no 8 please just before i go
Hello River :-)
not yet kazzer
Sorry Kazzer not me.
bye bye Zoozz. Hello and bye for now ((River))
Just checking rivers clues now to see if i have those..lol
good day ((Mom))
good luck at the dentist Mom
no8 - not relating to the sun?
Hello , Haz :-)
Hello, zooz, good morning/evening all.
morning Haz
thanks Haz for the NO8
You're welcome.
Thanks for the sl 5/12 River :-)..now to try and find the No8
zooz, negative prefix and five sunny letters.
Ah yes of course..thanks, Haz!
You're welcome, zooz. I have the other eights but won't clue unless you want them.
Just found the weapons one.
off to make my breakfast - bbl
What are the stats for the 9 please?
Take care, River :-)
ca9/60
thank you.
No problem, zooz.
wow i actually found it!!
And you'll find another 8 within it (drop a letter)
ooh ok *looking*
Bless you, Haz!
Well done!
Talking of bless you..cannot believe there is a word in here for the action of a sneeze...lol
Which makes me wonder what other languages use to describe the noise?
lol yes..i wonder :-)
French dictionary isn't being very cooperative. The German word probably has fifty letters.
LOL
How would one actually look for the word..do you look up the word seeze and look for alternatives?
Sneeze*
I tried to look up ac5/14 - let's try sneeze and see if it will elaborate.
Maybe look up the word in a synopsis Dictionary.
No thats the wrong word i used..sorry
Eternuer is to sneeze in French.
But it doesn't want to tell me the noise you make when you're eternuing.
Yes i thought i would be hard to find out.
morning all
is the 9 a compound word?
Hello, peri.
you would need like a french Synonyms dictionary.
Hello, Peri
No it is not.
ok, looking
I have one somewhere - just not sure where.
I can clue if needed.
yes pl
when a woman cannot have a baby naturally.
ok, now to spell it correctly
go it, ty zooz
your welcome
and a ce8 too
Correct :-)
Although i needed, Haz to nudge me towards that one..lol
Just a little one. No shove needed.
:-)
can I get a clue for the 9 - found the ce8 - thanks
Forward, just put another vowel in before the e.
same again but do it with the CA
ty!
I tried Eternuer in an online french Synonyms, Haz, and it came up with 7 different words?
Good morning, dahlinks! Ooh - a grid that will not consume our entire souls. What a switch.
Hello, Judi, it maybe a smaller grid, but for me it is alot harder..lol
Oh, my Harraps Shorter French dictionary must be really lacking in imagination. Who knew the French sneezed so much?
LOL
Hello, Judi. Be prepared to make the acquaintance of some new words.
I do not read french so cannot vouch the words are the sneeze noise ..lol
Enchanting. Speaking of which, most of George's last name is in the grid today!
Well i have at last reached the half way mark..time for a snack, will be back shortly :-)
Found it - atchoum!
The French don't 'ac5/14) they 'atchoum'. Now we know.
clue for the ca 7/32 please.cannot seem to pluralise the 6/21
ca7/32 is the extra word featured in Lickety's list but which doesn't matter for babble.
ta haz that has been driving me to drink nearly lol.
It probably is the plural of the 6/21 but enable doesn't want it.
can someone clue the last ch7 please?

*YAWN* mornin babblers
Hello, Eva :-)
Hello, EvaN.
Hiya, Eva!
hi zooz, haz, judi. how goes it today?
I am well Thank. Hope you are too ;-)
good morning all
It's going.
Hello, Teach :-)
not unwell. just not feeling up to my best today. super-sleepy, headachey. but otherwise, cant complain. :)
Maybe a warm drink and a light breakfast might see you right :-)
got a cuppa in front of me. had a bagel, and have some yogurt with granola ready to go. :)
have a lot of work to do today, though, so need to get myself in gear!
You'll feel better after you've eaten, Eva.
Germans say 'Hatschi Hatschu' when they sneeze, zooz.
Is that two variations of the word or is that two word THE word?
canola
If you look up wiki, cross-linguistic onomatopoeias, there's a whole list from lots of languages.
Ty, Ouwachita!
oops
thanks ouwachita
I`ll take that, thanks, Ouwachita ;-)
Germans will never say one word when they can say two or more, preferably running together... Two words, zooz.
Could you make fresh pot of coffee while your in the PB, Ouwachita?
LOL
I don't drink coffee...sorry...none in the house
schadenfreude. best german word ever. :)
When Sprite sneezes, she goes 'Hatsjoe'. The things we learn.
Ah, so that's where Joe's hat went.
lol
I'm fond of Minderwertigkeitskomplex myself. They can't even feel bad without stringing it out.
Can't imagine Joe wants it back after it's been sneezed in, tho.
btw...does anyone have a clue for the ca7 after my oops word a couple of minutes ago?
i am now singing in my head the Schadenfreude song from Avenue Q. hehe...
Ouwachita - ca7 is a non-word, not accepted by enable but included in Lickety.
----
thanks haz...then only 249 words today?
Yes, 249.
great then I am done
Congratulations!
WTG Ouwachita!
congrats

hi Eva - I have at 4/4
and I just found a really silly sn 5/10 - looks like what thread is wound on
I have at 5/10 from bottom A
thanks, Chessy!
And you're right - that sn 5/10 is very silly!
TY!
and it doesn't help to look it up - there's no definition!!

thanx folks!

hi Flask, have been in and out - making breakfast and finding words

oops
Ooops!!
breakfast ready, bbs
good morning and nbt for crossy:)
hi crossy....well done
so close to having ache and therefore earache too
rats, i was so sure there was nothing offensive about that remark.
good morning hirshy, just digging at this grid a bit i am
me too, but i hate feeling like i have killed the chog :)
mornin crossy. :)
nope,u am still here and ready to cause dickens:)
howdy eva;)
i love dickens!
whew! there we go 2 passes through and 123 done, now we can take a bit of a breather;0
perfect size grid..for a change
it has been a strange week all right.
not a 50 word deamon with fangs and not a 500 word monster where the winner is simply the one left still breathing after 15 hours lol
well, there are those interesting people at the flip, but i try not to watch gremlinn finish a 500 grid in an hour..just depresses me lol
Crosshair - you don't mean that literally? That's impossible...
not quite but some including gremlinn have very impressive speeds
a 250 size in an hour is quite common for some'
but not i,i am a tarus,i love yakking in the chog too much;)
250 per hour is still incredible..
i see that quite a bit from some
chugga boom can do 250 in minutes like 15
yup
top end player that one
and luvwordgames
she is fast
i poke along
clue plz for se6/21 I hope the 7 is related to it
and I am sceptical. A person yesterday claimed to have finished the grid in 2 hours. When the rest of us couln't enter one word in 2-3 min. stuff & nonsense
Hi everyone!
there is a program i have that helps with that,it is a speech to type program can you speak into a mic and it can do up to 160 wpm on the screen, but with a house full of people i do not like to use it
I am loving the chat.
howdy luwanda
i did yesterday's in about 3.5
and i have tried it with babble and it does work
I am excited if I ever finish a grid!
But that was later was it not hursh
it was not at the flip, yeah, so i used the list for the last 84.
I usually don't use lickety's clues
you just say the word and say enter after each word and it comes up in the add word box
oh you mean this was during the trouble?
I got halfway through yesterday in about 45 min
I have seen typist go at 120 words per min... but they have the words! Here you have to find them first.
lol, what hit the fan last night hursh?
yep!
nothing, just the server had trouble, remember?
oh,when the server was being buggy...

i don't think that my cousin's son should be my first cousin once removed. i think he should be my nephew once removed. that feels more right sounding to me.
no, just one, but he never turned, would have been breech.

you are making that up, river! poor you!
We're looking forward to some more winterish weather
one year we had about 8 in of snow on April 16th, but this has been a strange winter, no snow since (a lot) December
hi folks - no, it's true ruby, snow is coming, thankfully not here (NJ)
I wish I was - I guess the big guy upstairs will be pulling a very big April Fools joke on us northern new englanders
Afternoon all - back again - hows are you all?
we've had a blizzard on April 6. The carnival is coming to town. It's called the "Rainmaker" for obvious reasons
it was like that in Binghamton; here it is much more clement
hello kazzer
does anyone have a clue for the no 8 please?
boss just called me - got to go - have a great day all
Is there anything bad in the place you live ruby? It sounds idyllic

(Diddy's real name LOL)
good morning everyone :)
hey, nan
Hi Nan
a weird thing happened to me the other day
tell us
yes . . . ?
I guess enable's creator never played with hoola hoops!
in the morning, i had that old song "hallelujah, come on get happy, get ready for the judgment day" - judy garland? in my head, even though as far as i am aware i hadn't heard it anywhere recently
and then later in the evening i watched a gilmore girls episode which contained that very song.
wow . . .
I think they're hula hoops
yep :-)
that makes sense I guess
things happen for a reason hurshy
back again for a clue for the sc 8 please
Hursh, they did that song on House recently.
oh THANK you molly, then i am not a freak!
now that you say it, i totally remember, the weird dream video
rancor
there is no sc 8 - there are sc 7's
Yes, and because of the way they did it, it tends to stick in your memory banks.
oops sorry about that
indeed!
you are correct teach - have a senior moment again
ok, those sn's - the dictionary has no listing. anyone know what it means?
you really can find out anything on the web - sometimes from a search, sometimes from your friends :)
sn? what are they? i need them!
don't expect it to be a word you know....
sn: Meaning: An extreme toady, a willing kow-tower, someone who submits tamely to oppression, a 'yes man'.
thankee
interesting, BR . . . not to be confused with stoolie . . . wow
well i didnt know that and i just monkeyed them cos i thought that it could be a word - but it was
I'm working on that S, too, hurshy, I need ONE more
molly - i sort of thought maybe hugh laurie found it a bit challenging to SING in an american accent. it seemed different from how he sang as bertie wooster... but then, that was a longish time ago.
yikes, BR, urband dictionary has a VERy different definition LOL
*urban dictionary
yes, I just found the urban dictionary, hm, not postable on a family site
is it unpleasant Une?
oh well i still need five of those s's but i don't care, now that i got past that ugly 19 of them, i think i'll get the list.
er, check it out . . .
to be compared with, "lickspittle."
:-D
who is that politician that colbert created a bizarre sexual meaning for his last name that comes up when you google it so it's really a problem for him, does anyone remember?
hmm - i like that word its nice and unpleasant and very english sounding
no, but, hursh, did you watch his interview re PACs last nite? it was GREAT and now he has his own! LOL
gobsmacked is still in my top 5 brit words :-)
no, i don't stay up that late, i watch em the next day
me too -- watched this morning -- also online
Rick Santorum, I believe. I just googled, and the nasty meaning comes up first
thats a good one as well
(i stay up late . . . Babbling)
right, thanks rasta
It was Dan SAvage, though, not Colbert
i thought it was funny that the other day michael moore seemed to be forgetting at points that colbert is just a character, and almost starting to talk to him as if he actually believed what he was saying
when i was a student one of the jokes was to insult each other with as many nasty old english words you could find without actualyl swearing - great fun
oh - well colbert mentioned it, so i guess i got mixed up.
That's Colbert's genius. He gets so many folks to interview that don't seem to know it's a comedy show, take him seriously
he's an absolute genius
brilliant AND hilarious
i think most people know it's a comedy show but they don't know what to do with themselves.
although apparently large segments of the general population think he is in fact a conservative or something.
has anyone seen Kallia lately? -- been wondering if she has thought any more about a date for our Salisbury babble meet
definitely . . . a good friend took a mutual friend of our to see his show a couple of years ago -- it was all new to her and she was incensed with things he was saying LOL!
*ours
yes, large chunks, and then politician get booked by their staff who don't seem to know, and they're totally blindsided
but i've been given to understand that there are some people who WATCH the show and still thing he means what he says.
definitely some deer-in-the-headlights moments
*think
is the ca 7 / 32 the non-word
words spoken by an ultracrepidarian to obnubilate before absquatulating like the pusillanimous lickspittle I am
I'd love to see a whole DVD of footage they DON'T use from non-studio interviews
yes, teach
the ca7 is nonexistent. it's in lickety but not the grid.
presumably lickety's comp thought you can plural the oil, and enable disagrees.
this whole grid looks like it is full of non-words to me
thnx - read it in the chat before but didn't note which - now can stop looking
it is in the grid, Enable just doesn't take it
i havent recently - but when are you coming again . If you let me know, I am sure I can get there. The ca is a plural that is in lickety but not in the grif
75 to go -- BBL *poof*
now i can have "get happy" in my head much more happily, since molly explained the solution of my mystery :)

BR, I am glad to see you! Do you mind if i ask you a manly man question?
I am needing some sort of power saw to do work in my yard, and I am thinking a chain saw would be a bit too much for me. Do you know any alternatives that might suit? I have been reading a bit about alligator saws, and wondered if you had any opinion regarding same?
Hello, Trifioso. Not sure I am so manly a man .. but ask
ca 7/32 plz
What do you need to cut Trif?
And are you going to buy or rent?
mostly felled trees and branches down to size, so I can move them. The biggest diameter would be about 5 or 6 inches, I am guessing. And I think buy, as this happens every year
is the ca 7 the one not accepted?
also, some weed-like trees are getting a bit big and need to be taken down, so some green wood cutting and some dry wood cutting
That is chain saw work. I don't know if any other power saw would have the UMPH to do that kind of work.
My dad used one of these: http://tinyurl.com/b9ojqp
Yes, ivesy3
is the no 8 a negative?
ty br
yes
no 8 -- without sun energy
I have a reciprocating saw, but it's not very good on tree branches.
Thank you, BR
hmmm. good to know, Babble rabble! I actually have one of those in the garage, and I am fairly adept at using it, but only on wood that is more steady. I find it a bit jiggly for branch work, but I could try again
ty babrab
molly, do you feel comfortable using a chain saw?
I knew you all would know. there has yet to be a question the chog can't answer!
Of course that one has more power than mine. No Trif, I'm not comfortable using a chain saw. Have you gone to an appliance place and asked a sales person? That might be a good idea.
I am going this afternoon, after I finish work, but wanted to do some research first, in case I end up with a salesperson that just wants to convince me to buy a tool I can't afford and won't use
Crossy would know
and you knew, babble rabble! You are so dear.
2nd ra 5/12, please?

speaking of work...I need to head back in for the afternoon. blessings to you all....

does anyone know when rankings are updated, seems like my score hasn't changed in the past few days
don't pay any attention to them white, but they must update daily. I would think your score would change only when your average improves or gets worse.
anyone want clues before I leave?
bye then :)
With all the server problems lately, there is a good chance that rankings have been impacted. I'm just guessing since I pay no attention to them either.
triff, reading back, there is a construction device called a sabre saw or saws-all that might be for you
and you can get many blades for it,wood, concrete, steel etc
we used to take houses apart with them;)
milwakee or hilti make the best ones
i use a 10 inch bow saw and hav cut up lots of small tress ith it. it is quiet and after a while, you get callouses and he blisters healand youget such a feeling of virtue

wow. big grids all over.
hi uusue, teach :)
hi jes and uusue
Small compared to yesterday's, jes :-)
congrats, teach! I've been lurking...
and yay, wv!!
yeah... i made it to about this size on yesterday's! :)
lurking also while trying to eat lunch at the computer
We called my dad this morning and sang Happy Birthday to him; I think he was tickled :-)
what a wonderful milestone
I'll bet he was.
Happy Birthday to Dad! Happy Birthday to Dad! Happy Birthday dear Sue's Dad! Happy Birthday to Dad!
:-) thx, Molly! He must have really lucked out with the genetic dice roll - his dad and brothers all died of heart attacks in their 50s and early 60s.
nbt...
congrats uusue
and nbs...
I prefer: nwl
no words left
that would be nice, BR, but I have a ways to go for that :-)
I try to get nbs and nbt, then I try to get at least half the words from each tile. Then I just go chugging through the grid and lickety (and watching the chog) to get the rest.
This one has its challenges ... add the suffix "que" when you can
I nibble at these things during the day. If I finish, cool. If I don't, that's cool too. It's nothing more than a time passer for me while I'm taking a break.
is it the ca 7/32 that we should skip>??
yes
yes
Lickety uses an updated version of ENABLE. Maybe Dr_God will too when the site is updated.
thanks for the warning on extra word! :)
any help on the first ch -- ch6/24?
Do you still have a lot of snow, jesdraggon?

did you just look it up, or are you an ornithologiest, jes?
no, veterinarian. we take ch6-al swabs to test for some diseases.
ah! all knowledge is useful...
sc + first of former vp gore + I am .. you ***
thanks, bab :)
again, ty, babble!
you got la 6/18?
se 6, 7, 5, 6 are terms of address for a man in Portuguese and Spanish
la + sniffer
you are GOOD, babble
heh. thanks, bab--i would have been awfully confused about that alternate spelling
thx for all of those, BR!
how about the la 7/32 that doesn't mean "related to milk" (i think)
milk prefix + adolescent (different spelling)
that's the one i have
milk prefix + first part of a stun gun
l + what a thespian does + cut followers are sometimes put in a v***
flowers
I put all my followers in a vase. : P
maybe the followers have the flowers, who knows?
the combo of all your clues got it for me--thx!
down to one--the qu 7/32
Or maybe you were thinking of cult flowers? : P
i'm in the cult of foamflowers
no qu 7 in my grid
lol
sorry--that's qu6/27
cant have a q7 for 32 I dont think
it's a kind of star
thanks
Used to be a kind of TV too, didn't it?
of course! that one IS gettable!
Hello, hursy
and that is the fireworks!
molly, by the way, are we ok, from the other day, when i was perhaps oversensitively defensive about people who do the grid quickly?
Hurshy
*Cyber high fives Hursh*
hello babblerabble!
can i return the favors?
Hi Babblers
I do grids with all deliberate speed.
Hello, Calusa D
Congrats, foamflower
two questions--what do people mean when they say they've listed?
that they used lickety's or someone else's (babanon, profile) list of word stats to finish.
"Listing" means using Lickety's Babble Clues.
See here: http://r46.me/BabbleClues.html
ty--and in the early morning hours, when people "call" a word--oi presume they mean they've found it first -- but how do they keep track?
it's when you first find it, and there's no official keeping track, it's just sort of a chaotic race/heads up/informal competition
Hi Babblers New to the game and enjoying it. Can I get a clue what y'all mean by - la 7/32 - or - q7 for 32 - se 6, 7, 5, 6? I understand the tile stats and word stats but dont get the sequencing in the chat. thank You!
there's no score, and no way to win, so it's mostly just for the heck of it.
i'm newe too, calusa, but i can help
I know you from Boggle I think!!
la 7/32 means someone is seeking a seven-letter words that begins with la
Words get called at various times -- there often is a lot of repetition. If I am watching the chat, I see if I have the word ....
Thank You Foamflower
se6,7, 5,6 woud be a ref to four words beginning se--one a six-letter word, one a seven, then a five, then another six
There is some useful information in Help above
unless you are a real word pro, calusa, you also need to discover the joy (frustration?) of lickety's babble clues
AngelSong's Babble Page below has many things some find useful
i'll check that babble--ty
although i've tried a few of those links, and with my dial-up connection i can't get in
Thank you Thank you Thank you I could see myself spending waaaay too many hours on my own!
My motto is: Words are easier to find after you have found them.
welcome to the addiction :)
i gather different folk have ways of approach: some go through the alphaabet, some start in the upper left-hand square, some hunt and peck until they reach a wall...
It also is good to remember you can stop looking for a word after you found it ... unless you do not want to.
LOL BR
and you are SO right, babble--one thing that frustrates me so is having a singleton missing, then discovering it
it's a simple plural or past tense!
I subscribe to the "continue to look for word even after typing it in several times" school of thought
i'm with you, jen
today i tried and retried seconal and choate
and then tried and retried again
I find it saves a lot of frustration later on to find the words you cannot find first.
very good advice, babble!
:o)
BabbleRabble SO TRUE! It also is good to remember you can stop looking for a word after you found it ... unless you do not want to.
can't. quite. get. "school"
so frustrating and i keep trying it!
okay, i have to get going--any clues needed?

they are yeah but mostly known for pirate ships. arrrrr
oh man. hubby just got home. crappy day at work and crappy dentist visit -- which is saying something, since regular cleanings frazzle him.
oh, dear {{{{{{{{{{{{Eva}}}}}}}}}}}}
aww im sorry
dentist was all unorganized, and when she started to work on him + he asked for just a minute, he pretty much refused to work on him and threw him out.
oh wow thats awful
im trying very hard to be sensitive to the fact that he has issues with doctors/dentists, but i really just wanna shake him and tell him to man up! grow a pair!
hahaha sounds like my SO, we've been together 3 years and he hasn't gotten to the dentist yet
hey!
unfortunately, this issue was passed down from his mother, who never took her kids to the dentist, since she + her sister were molested by their growing up. truly horrible.
omg, that happened to the sister of a friend of mine. Really awful.
*sigh* wish i could make it better for him.
hey eva.
welp, off to get dinner started. makeshift philly cheesesteak wrap thing. sounds interesting, so heres hoping it turns out well.
hi jeffrey
does anyone have the ca 6, 21 (the one before the ca 7 that doesn't' exist)? thanks!
Nm just got it thanks though!
which one was it? i have them all but i dont know which ca7 doesnt exist
There's an extra word in Lickety's list... a CA 7. There are only 249,,,Lickety has 250 listed.
bye for now. :)
i have all the C words in lickety
weird.. thanks
I think it's the plural of the ca that sounds like an Italian dessert that is the extra word in Lickety.
The word that is also a kind of oil.
ok, since i had so much success in deciphering my own psyche this morning (thank you molly), i will now see if you guys can tell me what i might like to eat for dinner. i didn't have lunch, so am hungry, but oddly nothing in particular that i can think of sounds appealing.
No clue Hursh. I'm fixing the boy a steak and cheese sub tonight. I'm not hungry for dinner. Still working off my lunch.
is the boy a son or a husband? :)
My son.
*think think think*
Chilli con carne chez Soodle for dinner this evening, Hursh, and it was yummy. Hi everybody :-)
hi, soodle, molly, and hurshy!
Hi Sue :-)
don't know what's for dinner at our house except that it will be gluten free (SO has celiac)
I made chili a few days ago. Froze the leftovers. My son likes to have chili on a baked potato with melted cheese for lunch on the weekend.
Sue, is that a hard diet to be creative with?
ooh, that sounds good, molly!
think we'll go to friendly's. thanks though!
no, you just have to avoid any form of wheat, oats, barley, and rye, and anything that might contain them.
So, lots of vegetables I would assume.
Leftover chilli on baked potatoes are a big hit in this house as well.
so lots of rice, corn, wheat-free pasta, potatoes, and the like for carbs, then veggies, meat, fruit, and so on.
chili on potatoes would be fine :-)
Okay, that sounds do-able. I would miss bread though.
you can get gluten-free breads but they are expensive.
And beer, I would miss beer a lot. Although I hear they have come out with gluten free beer, which is also probably expensive.
There seems to be quite a lot of gluten free products on sale these days. Pity they are so expensive.
supper here tonight is T=bone steak on the grill, baked potatoes, rye horns. (Just passing through)
Indeed. SO isn't that crazy about beer, prefers a single malt (distillation removes the gluten).
Dropping everything and heading to Moms......
i have a friend who has celiac and the beer doesn't seem too expensive, but it is hard to find.
I have friends with an autistic child who tried the gluten free diet for him. They said it made no impact on his disorder whatsoever.
He volunteers 2 hours a week at the local food coop, which gets us a 20% discount - that helps with the cost.
Yes, I don't know of any evidence that gluten-free diets do much for anybody except those with celiac or an allergy (celiac is an autoimmune disease, not an allergy)
((Soodle)) you are welcome anytime. We have a spare room all set up
Hurshy.... I'm too lazy to scroll back to investigate the findings on your psyche... could you give me quick resume?
I agree about going to mom's for dinner, though :-)
((((Mom))) You may just live to regret your last post......
Although, I love Friendly's
I didn't know that Sue. I always thought it was an allergy. I've learned my something new today.
now I must go and start supper. ((Hugs)) to all of you
Bye Mom ((())))
bye bye (((Soodle)))
Celiac people lack the enzyme to digest wheat gluten, so the body attacks any cells containing it as though they were foreign invaders, with unpleasant results.
Bye Mom. Bon appetite.
bye, mom! Save some supper for us!!
Wow Sue, how long did SO have to suffer with it before it was diagnosed?
almost his whole life, Molly, he was in his mid-50s when they finally figured it out.
Wow. That must have been a blessed relief. Hey, what's shaking for Dad's birthday? Did any friends stop by?
Did his quality of life improve much following his diagnosis, Sue?
by that time he was extremely sensitive, and had never been able to hold a job (constant diarrhea), which he was too embarrassed to talk to bosses about and which doctors couldn't figure out)
Enormously, soodle, he is very healthy now.
dunno about dad's birthday plans, molly, I called him this morning but couldn't talk long. He'd heard from a lot of people, though, which was nice.
Oh my! What a shame it wasn't diagnosed earlier. I wish him the best of health.
thx, soodle. He has a lot of anger at all the doctors who told him it was all in his head all those years :-(
co6/24 pls
u and ur friend will co6 a party

my parents didn't make that..
thx, joey, jbv, and all!
Oh, thank you, Sue. I had totally forgotten tomorrow is April Fools day. (Looking furtively over shoulder...)
my dad would have been 100 this summer
no.. last summer
My Great-Grandmother died 6 days short of her 100th birthday.
my friends gran is turning 104 soon
Aaargh.... 104? Don't think I would like to be that old, but, ask me again when I am 103!
lol, soodle, that is true!!!
yeah... the 103 yo's daughter (my friend's mom)..said she thinks her mom is getting frustrated with living so long..LOL
I read a quote on Old Age once that went something like 'Old age begins, and middle age ends, the day your descendants outnumber your friends'. I guess thats true when you reach 104!
m9 - I just heard from my cousin in Italy - his mother is 92 and she is so vibrant and full of life and energy - she just saw the birth of her 15th great grandchild and has so much she wants to live for
and I'm hoping she will hang in there, since I don't know when I can plan to make the trip but I would like to see her again
Thats wonderful, JBV. I really hope you can make the trip to see her soon.
me too, Soodle -
ok, off to class, bbl! Thanks for all the birthday wishes for my dad!!

I had what I think is my last surgery yesterday. I am doing ok.
thanks for asking
((((Joey)))) The very best of wishes going over to you.
thanks, I appreciate
Joey, I had the same year and I'm doing fine. I'm sure you will too.
Hi Sally :-)
sallyds, which part of my life did you go through?
Hi. I mostly lurk but I couldn't resist Joey's story since it so resembled mine. From birthday in 2010 to birthday in 2011 it was one thing after another. Now I'm free and clear and delighted to be able to encourage people to believe it's possible--because it is.
Breast cancer treatment. Your mother's death adds an element I escaped so you win.
salldys, I am so sorry that you had a bad year, but I know what you mean about getting through it.
Good for you Sallyds, on a personal level, and also for sharing. (((((hugs)))))
oho! got some VERY fishy co's!!LOL
fish me, m9.. and ty for the great clue. "he was from his mother's womb untimely ript".. clue for ca9 if you don't have that one
hi babblers
sallyds, that was pretty much the kicker and I went into deep deep depression. Unfortunately with everything going on with me, I didn't grieve. I couldn't. Now, over a year later, I am grieving but not in a bad way.
Joey...Onwards and upwards!
on a funny note, I have a paralyzed nerve in my chest and every doctor has told me that I should never get hiccups again. WEll, for the first time in probably 8 years, I have a full blown case that has now lasted for over 20 minutes. gadzooks. what else
Hi Aloy and all recent arrivals!
hi Jellen.. hang in there, joey!
Yay for Joey's hiccups!! And Hi Alloy
Yay for Joey's hiccups!! And Hi Alloy
I am a big lurker, but wanted to chime in that my 29 year old niece just finished her last radiation treatment for breast cancer...during the course of her treatment, she fell in love, so anything is possible
this is ridiculous
hi Soodle.. well, if my screen jumps, I know who to blame
Blame Joey's hiccups.....
hi emusing.. glad you ventured out of lurk mode (-:
Hello emusing. Nice to 'meet' you
emusing, that is so good. I am glad that there have been many good stories coming out today

Hi, emusing
I lurk on busy days, don't feel bad
hi, Jellen
Bye everyone, must run. Bye Jellen ((hugs)) - glad you are back, missed you
bye lynxxx, be well
Hello, Joey. Since you cannot have hiccups, you must have synchronous diaphragmatic flutter (SDF), or singultus.
hi there BabbleRabble
Hello
Hi, BabbleRabble!
BabbleRabble, I have never heard of that - I have a paralyzed phrenic nerve, my one lung never totally inflates
Bye, lynxxx
Hello, Jellen. Have you drawn to any inside straights lately?
No, but I have been playing pretty well lately...

Hooray for Soodle!

Hi Jellen. My husband's birthday was March 11th. I know how difficult those milestone days can be. Sedning some good thoughts your way.
Bye Jellen!
have a good refreshing snooze, Jellen
Car. Holy crap. I just saw the House about the homeless guy. Again, holy crap.
I prefer FWL
CREEEPY!
umm, forty winks what?
FWL?
I've never seen an episode of House with that kind of hook at the end.
I cannot find the ca 6/21 and the ca 7/32. is one of them the imaginary one? can I have help with them, please?
I've never seen an entire episode of house.
I used to watch HOuse, but House himself annoys me now
which is why I have never seen an entire episode...
ca6/21 a type of cooking oil
The actor who played the homeless guy was Amber Tamblyn's (Masters) co-star on "Joan Of Arcadia". It was nice to see them on screen together again.
the ca 7 is not accepted ... Lickety's extra word
enable doesn't like the pl of the oil, but lickety does, ergo one extra word in the list
thanks for the help. I appreciate it

Goodnight, Stidge.
good night mother!
oh, she's probably long gone. *sigh*
I just finished the task I had set myself for the evening. I really need to do about two more things, but going to take a short break first.
hey all! ***choclits***
night stidgmere! hi stiddy!
how's your second week of student teaching going, stid?
Hi stid. So glad you are enjoying the teaching experience and hoping that the 'old school who hate new brooms' are settling down now.
Incidentally, stid, what subject are you teaching?
*dances* I LOVE student teaching!!! but I am not too fond of half days for students. THEY have more energy and our days are just as long. Except today. My mentor teacher needed some quiet time and I had a headache, so after the last parent conference I went home early by half an hour.
fifth grade, Jac -- all content areas except physical education and the band class.
my mentor teacher is WONDERFUL. and funny. and kind.
I hope it's not English, because, if it is, don't forget you're in class amd not on Babble when you write 'chocolates'. LOL
I just feel SO lucky...
"choclits" are what I eat all the time... babble or no. *grin*
5th grade - what age is that?
10 and 11 year olds.
i've gotten a gift.....my one on one will not be at school tomorrow....great start to spring break LOL
most students begin kindergarten around age 5 here.
woo-hoo mcurl!!! :-D
For me, 'choclit' would be a literary novel about chocolate. LOL
after the month I've had it will be a little bit of heaven!
So, Year 1 of High school here.
I worry our usual para won't be there tomorrow, she is feeling a bit poorly... it apparently goes not so well when she isn't there.
(((gentle hugs for mcurl))) how's the knee this week?
Hi mcurls.
BUT. the kids who really depend on her are starting to accept me, so perhaps it won't be so bad. the half day schedule really has all the kids a bit antsy.
well perhaps with you there they will be better. The knee had a couple bad days this week. Found out today still waiting for L&I Okie Dokie fo surgery
Stid - you'll cope with whatever comes your way, I'm sure. You'll be fine.
hi Jac
L&I would be faster, I had hoped.
Stid what kind of kids are you with?
well, that's what self-insured gets you!
L&I = "labor and industries" a government agency that is devoted to keeping workplaces safe
hey Doren -- regular classroom, but some special needs students (my mentor used to be the special ed teacher)
I have no idea what L&l is.
age?
Ah! You explained before I asked. Thanks Stid.
so L&I is also responsible for making sure injured workers get the medical care they need. ((Jac))
hi dorens, hi jac
5th grade, Doren :-D
usually by this time in the year, at least in my schools, kids are less hyped up about half days, since we've had so many by now.
back, hi stiddy, jacula jorens and dawg, Mccurls too!!
Hello Jillyjill.
many of the not-identified students seem to have a few issues as well -- it's a bit of a squirrely group.
Hey jilly!
around here we're finally coming out of the gray winters and spring fever has set in....talk about hyped up kids
I have an intern! like a student teacher, but a student counselor. I am enjoying it more than i thought i would. it takes a lot of my time because i spend an awful lot of time giving her background, and keeping her up to date (she only comes twice a week) but she does help out with some stuff that I can delegate.. She led her first group today... fun to watch
but NICE kids. for the most part (and they wouldn't be normal if it were all the time) they try to do their best work and get along well together!
we have many kids who could be classified if they were in other districts... our numbers in Sp Ed are so high. But often the nicest kids for sure
how nice, doren! My mentor thanked me today for asking all the questions and for having so much interest and energy (she's younger than I am)... she says she is getting so many ideas! LOL (did I mention she is WONDERFUL?)
does your intern fetch you coffee?
LOL ruru.
hi ruru
hey ruru!
hah! She fetched me water today.. would fetch coffee if i asked!!
<---wants an intern
our district also has a very high number of sped qualified students; people actually move into our district for the services we offer making our jobs harder with so much budget cuts
hi stid, jilly, jac... good to see everyone
we joke that she is like my "executive assistant" She is amazed at how busy I am.... often my head is spinning, and she is happy to help when and where she can. I, of course, just wish she were there every day
it is a travesty to me that our school systems are imploding while we spend billiions bombing innocent people in Libya and Afganistan
I could have an at home intern, if I could clone Beloved and the clone could go to work for him and he could stay at home and be my personal slave. :-)
((ruru)) no arguments from me.
I think teachers and counselors at schools should make $100K per year to start
nor from me
indeed ruru, kind of a no brainer I would think
slave or sex slave?
However, for now, it's the other way around, except there is, so far, no clone of me.
Either would do, ruru! :-D
LOL
Preferably both!
you go girl
had the best dinner tonight... at an Ethiopian restaurant. my mouth is sooo happy
I'm making pizza
What did you have, dorens?
homemade
Hello you lot
I don't think I've ever had ethiopian food
ruru - heating it up or making it from scratch? My Beloved makes heavenly pizzas.
hello jilli #1
Hi Jillibus.
I'm back from an absolutely superlatively funny performance of The 39 Steps.
from scratch jac.. of course
ruru - did you make the base, too?
yes
I mean clever-funny.
I made a fairly big mess in the kitchen I must say too
went with a large group and had lots of everything. lega tibs (lamb with red onion, garlic, jalapenos, tomatos, rosemary and spices... pureed chickpea with onion garlic jalapeno, olive oil and lemon juice, collard greens cooked with spices and herbs, cabbage simmered in mild sauce
*Makes note to read The 39 Steps again. Funny?
I will stave off my wife's anger with a really nice glass of Barolo
bozeno shiro - cubed beef in shiro spicy pureed split peas and chick pease
Not at all like the book, Jac.
oh doren.. that sounds delish
I saw 39 steps on broadway jilli ... cleverest thing by far
I'll need to read on the 39 steps too
Okay, Dorens, I saw jalapenos twice and that is too hot for me.
guess what with me?
tasted far better than it looked on the menu too, great spices (the jalapenos were very mild unless we asked for hot jac,
What I saw today is the same play as the broadway one -- and a great performance, too.
what talent, eh jilli?
sounds fun jilli.. you always have fun
guess what what with you ru?
My Mum told me our local AMDram group is doing Chekov's 'The Cherry Orchard' later this month. To be honest, neither of us fancy going.
Brilliant, doren -- a professioinal troupe here at the Chemainus Theatre where a group of us has season tickets.
Even the version with Judi Dench in it had me yawning.
my son made pizza last weekend with blue cheese, onions, arugala and other preposterous stuff and it was yummy
I have my last physical therapy appointment tomorrow and get to play tennis on Saturday providing we don't have torrents of rain and wind
yay ruru! better even than finishing a 583 word grid
<---keeps fingers crossed for good weather for ruru
please no more 500+ grids for a while
My favourite pizza is a deep pan Hawaiian. Lots of ham and pineapple.
those two beat me to a pulp
hah! unusual to have two so close together... but we all survived, yes?
you don't sound pulpy
sorry, wandered off. *sigh*
I did.. barely
I didn't get a chance to battle those huge ones -- too busy.
I didn't mind the big grids, but I do think they'd be better kept for Sundays.
yes..on weekends for the biggies
I had a good seafood pizza in Key West years ago -- minus that tomato sauce stuff.
when i saw the one on MOnday my busiest day I screamed
i was a mess at school today... was up last nite till 1:30
i was a mess at school today... was up last nite till 1:30 .
I'm hungry. It must be all that chat about pizza. I'm going to wander off to eat and then zzz now. See you all again some time. In the meantime, Happy Babbling! xx
this is a tomato sauced pizza tonight
Toodles, jac.
night jac
I need to run to the store for some fresh Mozzerella.. bye all.. see you jac,

oh! and we had ethiopian coffee too... that was an experience... very very special. strong like espresso, absolutely NO bitterness.. wouldn't want milk in it
enjoy ruru. i'm jealous. fresh mozarella!
ruru, I hope you are okay if you play on Saturday -- please don't overdo! *puts ice in freezer and buys extra inflammatories just in case*
slides a piece of pizza doren's way.....
hi stiddie -- I did see your previous happy day description -- niiiice!
:-D
thanks stid.. we have a martini bar next to the courts I won't feel any pain..lol
the best pizza i ever had was an artichoke and cheese with an alfredo sauce. delish!
ty ru. I am still stuffed, but can always make room for your pizza
makes for some wacky games and a few injuries..lol

Bye Dawg!
Hello everyone!

hi/bye car! *poof*
nite dawg. mine should be too, but I just got in after long day and late dinner with my book buddies, and there are 68 words left to find.
anyway we are scheduled for 4 - 6 inches of snow tonite, so I'm hoping for a late morning
MORE snow doren??? isn't this a bit late, especially for SO MUCH???
and sweet dreams LBD
actually, when we get early april snow storms, they usually are big ones, but disappear quickly
we're all a bit sick of the stuff. but I don't mind having a delayed opening tomorrow or even a snow day. i am just not up for getting up at 6:30 again, particularly since i still have many words to find and i'm sleepy
that sounds pretty okay for me, doren! LOL I don't think we can stand another snow day -- already going into the last week of June.
gotta go and get some soup -- the buffet lunch at the theatre sufficed for a main meal (and then some -- sticky toffee pudding was one of the desserts offered)
hm. sounds like a nice dessert!
mmmmmsticky toffee pudding
it's to die for
okay, I need someone to help me get NBT. the O on the far right in the fourth row down please?
