working on the ts now, lots of them!
your fo8 has me buffaloed for now but will go back to it after the so words as you suggested
I'm tackling the q words now
yes, makes it much easier cos (I think) clued it as fo* + so5
oh, I see -- thks. I didn't see that clue -- got started too late.
yes, you came in a bit later
had to check mail and email (weird things had happened to it on the desktop too) and then Babble on laptop , then desktop, restart, etc etc.
I was having a problem this morning - couldn't open email so called Shaw tech, waited long time, but when I got through, was told it wasn't something they do (only internet stuff, but he very sweetly walked me through it
I did talk to the people who sold me the desktop this afternoon and they said I should do a security scan right away (I hadn't realised it was needed) -- I did, and they found a Trojan which was removed. Maybe that's what was causing the troubles.
oh, lucky to find that nasty
that's great, flosey.
he said that I should have called a local techie but I guess since I got hold of him, he felt sorry for the LOL (term we used ages ago referring to Little Old Ladies, in bridge)
Well, we'll see what happens next time I try to change icons and Lickety posts a list. I brought them up on the laptop first, thinking maybe the desktop needed a nudge from the network.
Nice that he is a good human being.
One thing we really must do is get separate email addresses!!
yes, I thanked him profusely
that sounds like a good idea
I mean the separate email addresses
yes, we have well over 3000 going back as far as 2006!
yes
understood
whew! finished the ts
not getting st6
I'm now at the ro words
I'm going back up and filling in blanks
you're way ahead of me
went out and couldn't get back in!, got the message from Dr.G. about temper tantrum
I got a red box -- just the hiccup
Did you and Geo win at bridge?
don't know the rest of the scores Jilli - just know we beat P&P
Paul and I were comparing scores
Ah -- very satisfactory!
yes, always nice to beat them!
and they both take it in good fun
Yes indeed!
That's a releif.
*relief
yes, I believe Paul is sincerely happy to see anyone beat him
He's a good sport -- really nice guy.
Prem too, I just know Paul better - and yes, he'd do anything for you
in spite of how busy he keeps himself
do you have sa5/14, I can't get it
Prem seems to be warming up.
yes, I think so too
poor fellow, has such a time hearing
Is that it? He's a bit deaf???? Never knew!
yes
I think sometimes he just smiles rather than say he hasn't heard
I haven't got that sa5/14 either
sa 5 = not happy + not she
thanks diz
tyvm diz and hello!
yes, yes, thanks
yw...took me awhile and suddenly thought ITS BEEN HERE BEFORE...lol
good morning! It's funny to look at a grid and see a bunch of words laid out in order. This smacks of a trap, cleverly designed! lol
hi ruby!
hi ruby, sorry I missed seeing you on your b'day, hope it was a good one - I had a big happy b'day icon for you
yes, diz, I remember the unhappy guy now ;-)
hello flosey and thank you. I'm sorry I missed the special icon -- maybe next year!
and my last, st6/21 - monkeying like crazy
what did you do for your b'day, ruby?
well,, finally, and I know I've typed it in earlier - maybe mistyped it!
Fireworks
it was surprisingly lovely: husband was a prince, startingf the day before: perfume, flowers, a new bird book and then, on Sunday, lunch out in my one-a-year special place, right on the lake - www.perebise.com (or something like that).
how lovely ruby
YAY flosey the fabulous!
that sound dreamy, ruby!
well!! ty jilli
yay for flosey! I got one of my few finishes last night with FM and Crossy carrying me across, as always
when he wants to be nice, he can be, that's for sure!
WOW, ruby, what a gorgeous place
just checked it out
went to the website, ruby -- what a wonderful place!
I just wish they posted the menu -- what did you have?
it is the only really good restaurant around here
in places, like theat, the best things are the "estras" that they serve between courses, but I had various hors d-oeuvres, snails, steak with artichoke and mushrooms, various deserts (tiny ones that they just bring) and a lovely St. Emilion.
sorry for all those typos, I couldn't get back in after I typed it
they do show the Easter weekend menu jilli - in french of course
phantom: dastard
Reminds me of one near here (near Sidney, BC) -- http://www.deepcovechalet.com/
the only thing that I don't like is that they give the menu with prices only to the man!
I'm looking it up, but after I take a break. If I do it now, for some reason, I'll have to re-boot!
Must go back and look at that menu...oh yes, ruby, I think that's very au courant in the top spots
that's a nice one too, jilli, we've never been - yet!
what if it's a biz lunch and the woman is paying?
perhaps you have to warn them ahead of time, ruby??
you're right, that's what I used to do when I was working -- retirement makes me forget those niceties!
ah, but it is so nice to be retired!!
I still can't find the Easter menu.
it's hard to imagine having time to work!
I loved my job, though.
I remember when a friend of ours became Vice Pres. of the company, he took 4 couples out to a fancy dinner and he was the only one who had the price list
that's so true, ruby!
that is too funny! I was in a totally male industry, and I became adept at getting the check. When husband's friends come to visit, they are always terrible at trying to pay. Maybe they just don't want to.
scroll down on the front page jilli - small print on right hand side "Easter Sunday menu Link"
I'll do that, flosey -- and I finally got that fo8, lol!
good!
oh, and ruby, you should have seen Jilli's icon
ahd did you make, jilli?
I can't even change mind, even though everybody has given me directions. I think all my photos are too large
mine*
ahd was supposed to be what*
ruby -- I told you -- it was Ruby Foo's in Mtl, and you said you used to be taken to the one in NYC as a kid.
Good morning everyone:) am at work again taking a sneaky preview of the grid lol
and I saw the Easter menu -- quite a price!
ah, I saw the note but not the picture! that is so funny; I wonder if they are related to the one in NY
hi jean
hi jean
here it is Ruby
hello jean
so npw O
***fingers in wrong position there! SO, now I'm off to bed, good night all
I don't think so, ruby -- the Mtl one was locally owned, I think by some enterprising Chinese.
Goodnight flosey sleep well :)
maybe the NY ones moved to Montreal, after all we are talking about more than 60 yrs ago in NY!
ty jean
I wonder why you didn't see the picture!
as soon as I get to half, I'm checking those out
I would have been very young when I first remember my aunt talking about the one in Montreal, ruby
and now, poof
morning everyone could i have a clue for the qu8 please
I just saw flosey's icon, thank you.
Good morning cool.girl:)
half and off to B>C>! see you later
morning jean
bye jean and coolgirl!
Bye rubyfoo sleep well:)
bye bye
qu 4/7 +to 4/4
There was another Chinese/European restaurant right near Ruby Foo;s, called Bill Wong's, also upscale. We used to call it Will Bongs before that had any other meaning.
oh and plural for the 8
bye flosey!
deep cdeeover chalet looks magnificent
diz, there are 7 to4s!
deep cover challet looks magnificent! And I prefered its menu to Pere Bise
it is, ruby! And the water you see is a branch of the Pacific Ocean.
I have such lag that I can't see what I'm typing, hence the typos! but that looks like a great restaurant!
I've only been there once -- taken as a birthday treat by my brother- and sister-in-law (my late hubby's brother) about 2 years ago.
are you on dial-up, ruby?
seefood here isn't much and it's what I really miss. We are too far inland
BC must be fabulous from everything I read about it
well, of course we have wonderful seafood here -- but no local lobster. I guess what they offer is flown in from the East.
We like BC ;-)
I shudder to think where our seafood comes from, but it's never fresh enough
2:58 amjillibus diz, there are 7 to4s! ....try 'em all ...lol
hello dizgrannia, we were, as most ofte, talking about food
how are you feeling?
haha diz -- I haven't got them all yet!
sorry about the typos, I can't see what I'm typing
bye for now, I had better get dressed
bye ruby -- I'll be in bed when you get back
ah, finally -- got the qu7 & 8 -- ty doz
Bye rubyfoo:)
Well, 35 left and bedtime so goodnight all -- happy babbly day...*poof

Yes, I think each of us has our own truth ... the product of our perceptions ... to try to understand another without seeking to understand his/her perceptions makes the process very difficult

lol Kap, but I'm alone
hi all
howdy jmc
nbs ty vanilla
In the song Papa was a Rolling Stone, is the line "all he left us was alone" or was it "all he left us was a loan" or a pun?
all he left us was a load
Alone Kap
All he left us was aloe?
all he left us was a loon
All he left us was Hello.
A loo.
it was indeed alone...

no, hurshy, shakespearean
it's an arcaic compound, not related to podiatry
ahhh - thanks!
I saw a great video on Sunday (on PBS) called the Gefilte Fish Chronicles - for anyone who knows about seders or wants to know about them - it was a family type documentary, very well made, very moving
means in truth
archaic
is there just one F7?
Is it the one that shows 3 generations makinggefilte fish- from real fish chopping to cuisinart to jars?
yes, Kap - I loved it - laughed, cried, the whole thing!
the horseradish scene was a hott
that's "hoot"
Don't forget the iceberg lettuce leaf.
and I loved how they went to the same butcher they've been going to for 40 years and had to tell him exactly how to cut the meat :)

Chogkill.

morning, all! anyone still around?
Hey sue---gues what?
what?
The camel joke made this month's Atlantic Monthly!
cool!
How did that happen?
No, really!
There was an article about a nun, I think from Kentucky, whose family name was Schmuck.
And she went North, and people thought she was kidding. No one in her home town had never heard the term.
pretty funny :-)
So she went about trying to reclaim the name Schmuck as an honorable one.
good luck with that!
I should look for the article on line- it was a hoot.

"Sister Schmuck takes a Stand" http://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/ar chive/2011/05/sister-schmuck-takes-a-s tand/8445/
really have to stp taking my name in vain. :D
morning
You just have to google Atlantic Monthly and Schmuck.
is that like schnook? lol
Not quite...
the invisible woman leaves the room - see ya at the flip...maybe
sorry hoots.i get that all the time
?
owl, sorry, I've been off getting (VERY LATE) breakfast!
too many windows and tabs opened and was remiss in greeting hoot
It's reeeeaaallllly hard to greet everyone individually....
that and brunch;))
still having a hard time here, headaches continue. Probably stress. Am waiting until the end of the semester; if they don't go away after that I will go back to the dr and complain.
i am going to make a macro with the top 100 regilar players in it and we can all just copy and paste it when we enter the room in the morning lol
drinking lots of fluids sue?
Sue, ever thought about something alternative, like accupressure?
tea, mostly
drink more water
had blood tests and an mri, no obvious problems
I am having hip pain...eating lots of motrin. I aggravated it at the gym probably.
probably massage would be nice but $$$ and time intervene, molly
Kap, how does your hip respond to gentle stretching?
ah, the gym - I remember such places -
I have missed the stretch class because I have been doing Zumba. Probably not a good idea.
lol, kap, I don't think they're exactly equivalent :-)
No, but I really like Zumba.
I have a hard time admitting these limitations- I do 5 gym classes a week. Probably killing me.
Sue, if you do a search on head massage, you can find a few things you can do on your own. A few sets of deep breathing during the day will increase your oxygen, which is helpful to some with headaches.
you will be the healthiest body in the grave yard lol
wow, kap, you must be in pretty good shape!
Or you can do what I've done. My hip makes me forget my headaches.
Toned--and de4.
molly, i will check that out, thanks. Had problems with headaches before too, turned out to be a combination of neck problems and depression.
There you go, kap. Maybe I will hit my toe with a hammer.
I have that too sue.
Decrepitude.
oh, by the way--PB for Sue and me and everybody who discussed the he4.
indeed. upcoming birthday (end of next month) isn't helping either...
oh, right. oh well :-)
Molly- PB.
I have daily hip pains. Rubbing in Capsaicin does wonders. Painfree for at least 4 hours. Wash your nands well afterwards.
perhaps there is something medicinal in there, like whiskey :-)
For the neck problems, you will need to ask for your guy's help. Some deep neck massage can be very helpful for neck pain, headache and depression. Hope you find some relief soon.
hi, inge - yes, and be really careful about getting the stuff in your eyes!
thanks, molly, will look into it. Need someone who is pretty careful as I already have 3 vertebrae fused in my neck (thanks to an accident during my misspent youth)
Whee! There is matzah, bitter herbs, boiled eggs and Mogan David in the PB!!!
*Wonders why there are no Passover treats*
what, no lamb shank?
:-)
Maccaroons.
off t9 sudoko/ Later
No lamb and no macaroons. I have been gypped. : (
anyway, I should probably get to work, don't teach until 5 so I don't feel horrendously guilty but I do have a student coming in at noon to take a makeup test. bbl.
Oh well. At least there is lamb's blood on the door. Pass on over, Angel of Death.
uusue, what do you teach? Botany? I am married to a bromeiliad expert.
every time i see a bromeiliad it reminds me of that movie with sean connery
Good day Babble buddies.
howdy scwabby
That has to be one of Connery's least popular movies.
How are you, Crossy? Is your ski season over?
yup,all done,we still have a 10 foot base, but it is just the die hard snowboarders up there getting all wet and muddy
Do you know the name of that movie
medicine man
So you are still open for snow sports?
very good movie
Wie geht's, Inge?
nope, just let the kids play in the slush.all done scrabbs
It reminds me that there are people who swear there is a cure for cancer in the rainforest.
Es geht mir gut. Scrabbler
So what do you do between snow sports + golf seasons?
go broke lol
Molly, many medications are derived from plants---digitalis, tamoxifen, etc
Do you still work at this this time, Crossy?
there us a cure out there..providing we do not cut it down burn it up or pave it over
Yep Scrab. Our beloved and widely taken aspirin comes from Ma Wllow.
oh yes scrabbs,we do all the fix ups, inventories etc
Cancer is not one disease. There are multiple kinds of cancer.
Or Ma Willow
Pave paradise & put up a parking lot!
spruce it all up for the summer citiots
Good, Crossy. I want you to be able to survive.
Hi scribe
as do i..lol
Hello, Scrabbler-
Hello all. Looking for bottom A and top A for NBT. Can anyone help?
I haven't even had breakfast yet, just coffee. I need to eat NOW!
NM - got the bottom A. Just need the top one now.
top a--a + ocean
top a lost in the water
thank you scrib!
bottom a - a long time
thank you!
glad to help!
ae4 = long time, alternate spelling
Also, as Sherlock Holmes might say, "The game's a****"
*Waves hello to all before someone gets offended and stomps off*
And hello all.
Just found that one wht. A good one that!
wht--is that like 'The door is ajar.'?
poor hootowl..
ok, I am in my office. Inge, I teach physics (if you are still around...)
Yes, it is scribe.
thought so! lol
and thanks for the top a, now have nbt
good show!
Greek yogurt + berries for brunch. Yummy.
I'm having Greek yoghurt too Scrab, Fage
Physicians are such healthy eaters.
I have Chabani
I like Greek yogurt, think there is some waiting for me for lunch
Not just physicians, diabetics too
Ah yes, diabetics too.
crossy had a western omelette with green peppers, onions, smoked ham bits fried in butter and laid upon crunchy texas toast
I decided that although Greek yogurt is much more expensive that the benefits outweigh the cost.
Hi to my fellow babblers! How is everyone doing today
Ditto Scrabs. I like Fage the best. I get a large container at Costco
*burp* Haha, Crossy.
howdy min and welcome to the grid
By the way, congratulations to all the finishers! YAY!
crossy, you're not diabetic, right?
err....well....not that i have been tested yet....errm....no
I have not seen Fage at our Walmart but I think Wegman's has it. I would love a quart or gallon supply rather than a pint.
I Was speaking with my physica yesterday and he told me his 3 and 1/2 old grandson was just diagnosed with diabetes
Do you go to Costco Scrabs. They definitely have a large container there
if scrabbs got ahold of me,she would have a field day with lipid tests, blood tests, colesterol tests and stress tests and testing for sugar or lack of it
That sucks, Bichon.
No Costco here. We have a Sam's CLub and BJ's in the Buffalo area.
You bet it does. Not only the difficulties with a child of that age, but the wherewithal outside of the home. Nursery school, friends houses, school
BJ's has Chobani. It's okay, but not as good as Fage
Crossy, you are a cancer survivor so I permit you to live your live as you choose. Your lease has been extended a few times!
lol, extended 3 times to daye..not counting childhood disasters lol
date
Crossy, as long as she doesn't do a bacon test, you wil be fine.
And within 15-20 yrs after diagnosis of DM type I there are changes in the kidneys and retinas.
My diabetes has been easy to manage for the last 17 years, Metformin, diet, exercise
lol wht,i would be busted with just the lipid test
Serum bacon level--now there's a test that should be created.
Is that true Scrabs if your HbA1C is under 7 consistantly
actually i have cut my bacon consumption down 70% and we have just swiched to a low salt brand
Bichon, glucose control is not enough. Inflammation of blood vessels occurs.
Yikes, is there anything I can do to help, besides what I have been doing?
there but for the grace of god go i...crossy thinks he will have just a bowl of diced fresh fruit for lunch....
So you are down to one meal a day, crossy? :^)
Hello Everyone :)
Fireworks for me.
lol no wht
yaa for wht!!
howdy sadie
Yippee wht!
Bichon--I am referring to type I DM.
Hi sadie
yay, wht!
Whew for me, but not for my doctor's grandson. Is it inherited, could his little sister get it
hya cross and Scrabbler :)
Yes, I presume diabetes in a child that young would almost certainly be type I although I understand that rates of type 2 are increasing in children (but mostly older children, I think)
I think a kids that little would be active enough not to have Type II
Type I DM in kids is usually autoimmune, perhaps genetically predisposed and perhaps triggered by a viral illness.
Type II DM is skyrocketing due to the childhood obesity epidemic.
So if a kids gets a bad virus, like the flu, that could trigger it? How scary
Neither of my three grands eat enough that they'd get fat
Qu's Quipped! 8 left
yaa for min!!

Hello amelu0218! How are you? Welcome to the puzzle
yw bichon
Bichon, I have seen 80-90 pound 4 and 5 yr olds!
Hi Min and amelu
hi min! I'm very well today, thanks. I've been lurking... (and thanks for the ae)... hi scrabs!
Hello Scrabbler!
I can believe that Scrabs. But I have three fussy eaters. But they are not fussy eaters when it comes to junk food
Bichon, many parents do not care about nutrition for themselves or their kids and allow their kids to suck down soda pop, juice all day and eat bad snacks, have fast food frequently, etc
Childhood obesity if a family problem and is very hard to fix if parents have no interest to change the family's behaviors.
Amen Scrabs
You work on an Indian reservation right? I think the problem there must be worse
Can u guys give me any clues?
Bichon, we see a LOT of type II DM in the Native Americans, starting in kids due to obesity and genetic predisposition.
to 7/32 ??

Hi all. Just checking in with 22 left. FO8 has me baffled (or babbled).
Hello gramma! How are you doing?Welcome to the grid
fo8/60 is fo plus consonant plus so 5/12 word gramma
Hello all. I should have worked on this a little more.
Hi redturtlehead! How are you? Welcome to the grid!
TY. That was driving me mad.
I have 113 left! Ahhh, I wanted to finish.
The da 4/5 today is April 29, 2011 and here is a story for all of my de 4/5 Babble friends to so 4/4 through. I ar 5/10 out of bed,I got up on my fe4/7 and walked right into the office to babble. It took me ae 5/10 to finish. Grid was hard and I was unable to babble with ea 4/4. It actually gave me a he4/6ache and I had to take some aspirin to so6/21 it. I would ra6/12r have finished on my own,but I sent for my monkeys to help with the last 10 words. They were playing very loudly on my fr5/16 porch. I told my monkeys to be qu5/16, but they got even louder. Then I told them they could ea4/4 some bananas & to5/10 to sa4/4 their hunger They sn 5/10ed at me and te 6/21 me. Their ro5/10n behavior angered me so much I just wanted to te4/4 their arms from their to 5/10s. Nobody ever te5/10s me and gets away with it! I really need to tr 5/12 my monkeys in for some new ones.Anyway, I told them if they did not come inside, I would drag them inside by their ea4/4. Monkeys qu 7/44 down and he 4/6ed my warning and ran in & helped me finish. After I sa5/12 their hunger with bananas they tr 7/32 off down the ro 4/5. Da4/5! Hubby is being an ar4/4. I can he 4/5 him making smart reto5/10 about my addiction as he he 5/12 me typing away. If I don't give him computer he will go through the ro4/7 and we will get into a he 4/5ed argument.I wish that he would qu4/7 Farmville I find it qu 5/16 annoying how much he hates Babble, but sees nothing wrong w/Farmville addiction. At any ra 4/4, our game addictions are the ro4/4 of most of our problems. Although I love him with all my he 5/12, he drives me nuts sometimes! I'm going to get out of this se 4/4 and go watch "De 5/14 of a Salesman" on the so 4/7. I will be back later to help out with clues.
yw redturtlehead
ahhh minver. thanks for the story, your da** is off but hey its ok.
Thank you redturtlehead! I just fixed it in my profile.

Hello uusue, how are you and how goes things with your father?
and I got some words from it too!
hi, red, I am ok and dad is fine, but my stepmom had a heart attack Sunday morning and is not doing well at all. I called my dad to let him know, but of course he is in NJ and she is in MI (and I am in IL).
Wow. Hope all goes well. I suppose that even after her odd behavior lately, he is concerned about her.
oh, absolutely, red. I think he feels bad that he is not able to care for her.
Awkward and difficult situation.
indeed. And sad.
agreed.
Fini! The last word that had hung me up was the 2nd ta4. How sad is that?
ty min if you are still here.wonderful clue story:)
yaa for gramma!!
congrats Gramma!!!
I'd be happy to try to clue, if any1 would like.
the 2nd ro5/10 please
never mind found it
If a deal is too good to be true, ...... We were supposed to get a new stove tonight. I think it was a bait and switch. They called and said 1 of the burners couldn't be converted from natural gas to LP. Really! 1 burner is diff. from the rest? He said "We have other stoves, we could deliver." They of course would be several hundred more. Creep.
u should report them to the BBB or something
I'm bitter.
that is very odd. and I would feel bitter. one burner only?
I would like a clue for any of the 8's. No list yet.
It's thru Sears. They've been busted before for this. A few years ago, they did it w/a come-on price for an air conditioner. When I called them on it, they found 1 left for me.
qu8 is a plural.
hi red fo8/60 is very Shakespeare
ro8 has the high tile in the middle.. and its a past tense
RO8 rhymes w/yard game played w/mallets and balls
red glad you're here we won't be coming down for this launch
congrats, gramma, and sorry to hear about the Sears debacle!
thanks all.
FO8 starts out sounding like the number + calm or so5
Oh West, I am sorry. It is one of the very last.
but there will be something else.
Company, drats!
wanted to stay for a few days but our 4th granddaughter is making her First Communion on May 7th and it would be too rushed
we may just try for the June launch if we can take the heat lol
one of my students offered me tickets to the launch but it's before the end of the semester (unless they delay it some more) and I just can't do it.
I was just about to say West, I tis already Boiling here.
gramma,i was in the hydrocarbon business for 15 years, the only difference on the lp burners vs the ng ones is the iar gas mixture and the aperture sizes.do not let them bs you.if they can change one burner, they can change them all
we could use a bit of heat..cold and drab and rainy now
air
highs all week in the mid 90's. We could use a wee bit of rain to cool it off in the afternoon.
too hot red!! we are at -2c and light flurries

it angers crossy that sears has gotten so bad at this bait and switch.i had them busted for it up here, but it took a call to the better business watch dogs
oh, west, that must have been so upsetting! I still get emotional when I watch that launch...
i saw it in my elementary school assembly live.. i cant imagine it in person..
only fo7 I have is the plural of an fo6, helena
fo7/40 is plural of an fo6/27 word if U have that word
I agree sue I was watching on tv and couldn't believe it was happening
fo6/27 a is british spelling of a very bad smell HelenaB
I just got back from a walk in the rain with the dog.I am off to the store now.I will be back later on to clue

a shaksperian term meaning wonder or doubt
oops wrong one
I think that's the 8, crossy
hi helena not friend and hill
a rottin g carcass would be described with this smell

ah, west, alzheimers is tough, I know what you mean by bittersweet...
seems like that's the only time we see each other anymore
sue her daughter and sil took care of her the whole time we think that's why she was here for so long
ah - my grandfather had a similar story although it was my grandmother who took care of him - not an easy thing to do
they brought her to all the family gatherings and though she didn't talk anymore she was aware of her surrounding

oh, crap, i suck at the cluing! sorry, glan
last so6 is past tense drunk
so6/21 - pt of a person who drinks too much
thank you, Glan
but I'd appreciate either of the other so6/21s
fo8, Jes...we missed the clue request. : P

past tense of chimney residue, and add a vowel to the so5/12
One is the past tense of someone covered in ash
I have the on which means o calm but not the other

TY all

All is well but I m on holiday in Norfolk, Engalnd
hope you are enjoying holiday, Glan
I guess I need a whole bucket of fish! is the TO 5/16 and 6/27 pair fishy?
so so - I have driven my deaf mother and my father with alzheimers to see my brother
Oh, Norfolk, Virginia was where I went to school to study how to teach and help readers. Not the same (of course) but we have so many name-alikes here in the States.
use the big letter on the bottom, phand.
Oh, you are doing such a kindness to your family. It reflects beautifully on you.
dad opened the car door 3 times and moved the morror ad put the hazard warning lihts on twice and u did his seatbelt several times throuh the 5 hour drive \LOL
thank you Jes. That's FW for me!
yay phand!
that sounds like an ordeal, Glan
Allo Gran Mere. Murphy has gotten SO BIG!
Congrats Phandmd!!
Thank you, Stidgmere
not too bad but if I can get him into the back of the car for the home journey I will be happier LOL
Murphy is growing as we Babble. He is currently taking his nap.
woo hoo phand
Glan, bless you...you good, good woman. You have so much on your plate these days. Wishing you happier days ahead.
ROFL - hideous husband is trying to decide if he has an STD or prostate cancer LOL - doubt if it is actualy anything serious but did think karma was kicj=king in (finally) this morning!
I love Golden Retriever puppies. But they are only puppies for about 5 minutes, right Gran Mere?
hideous husband?
They do start growing but their mischieveious ways keep cropping up. They bear watching.
Glan, I think gangrene of certain parts would be amazing retribution for cheating husbands.
hideous husband - separated since last summer but moved back in last month
hey Molly - I thi nk anrene would be a suitable karma for hideous hiusband
std? sounds creepy
uhm... not that it's any of my business, but if he's hideous, why let him move back in?
glant i wish i could bring you over here and get you away from HH
jes - i hd no choice - he says he wpns half the house and he does
ah.
you could sell him your half?
coss - i have nev er been to canada - don't tempt me LOL
Crossy, we need you as our caped crusader. Any chance our Babblemobile could fly you to Gian ASAP?
So, does anyone need anymore clues right now? If not, I will get on with more homework...
if the house is inbsured..burn the thing...lol
and then use the money to move to canadia, apparently :)
wish i douls stid
i iwsh i could sell him my ha;f jes - the hose went on the marke last week because he can't afford my half#
the house is drop dead goreous Welsh heritage LOL
ah, i see
it is a unendurable position for anyone to be in glant and i hope the house sells fast
well, here's hoping it sells promptly and you can be shut of HH
Okay, Babblites need a house in Wales. We all pool our free cash and buy the house fom Gian, then rent it back to her and we visit gratis.
lol great idea stidmere!!
My house:
We just need to band together in tough times, crossy.
wow, that'd be a complicated closing/signing...
http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-fo r-sale/property-33512993.html
We have lawyer types who know how to do paperwork I think.
we have what? 5000 babblers if we all kick in 100 each
lol
Lol, gmere, I can throw in a $ or two
now that would be grand!! 5000 babblers buy home in wales!
hey, i love the idea
as do i
I'm in crossy.
it's a lovely looking home!
then we rent it to you for 1 pound a month with visitation rights
it is in the middle of a national park LOL so good walking country and picturesque landscapes
and I guess I am over and out...
Best money I spent today!!
*peek*
By phandmd.
and it sits on a fifth of an acre which is BIG for the UK LOL
bye phand
to 6/18 # 1?
interesting..the logistics are horrible..have to get one of your babble lawyers to set it up
our
add a vowel to the 5/10
Yes, crossy, international, various currencies, a bill of sale to us as a group of some sort.
thank you jess
welcome, ru :)
to7 pls
it has happened before stidmere
hey all... 46 to go. And my little logical brain can't help but point out only need to come up with half. to buy out HH.
i think it would be necessary to form an organization and donate money or buy stock in the org, then the org buys the property, rather than having a property co-owned by 100 different people.
we shall have to ask one of our lawyers
to + pretty flower
ty jes
lurking...but the idea sounds fabulous to me :)
i'm sorry. to+ consonant + marqui de ****
i'm sorry. to+ consonant + marqui de ****
Hi all. Glantarell, if you're still here... I was at infant school with a girl called Christine Goodenough. Any relative?
and sorry for the glitch/double post, too
the international horrid husband deferral find
TY jes
Would we all have to show up to sign the papers? That would be quite a meetup!
fund
ty jess
hidous husbamd deferral fund LOL
I like disposal rather than deferral :)
there u go
not if it was an organization, sue--just the president and secretary. but if it was as a bunch of individuals, then yes, every single person has to come sign.
Hi Peri - you beat me twice in our word games today. I shall have to look to my laurels in future!
If Chistine G is a relative I don't know her - but the I am a Goodenough by marriage
Would we all have to show up to sign the papers? That would be quite a meetup!
I like disposal too LOL
many hands make light work glant.if you can get one of our lawyers to draw up a workable plan..i am in for 100
sounds more like taking out the trash that he is...
Glantarell - you'll have to ask yuor husband (about Christine).
Nice garden for a party to sign in! And, I am a very good cook (blowing own trumpet)
as long as there is bacon I'm sure Crossy and I are in...
lol, imagine all of us owning a home in wales..lol
Really, if you can get the organization to exist, I'll be in for $100.
*or even yOUr husband. Sorry for the typo!
We can have bacon, not a problem.
Hi, Jacula, you have been beating me for some time, had to step up my game
mm welsh bacon rashers.....
Peri - well done, you!
the pics of the house are gorgeous - bacon can only make it better!
:)
Talk about Karma - hideous husband is all of a panic - he apparently has blood in hid urine so is now worked up about the possibilii=tiesof havin picked up an STD (well, he has slept with at least 20 different people in the last 12 months) or having prostate cancer (shame, not that I am bitter!)
Crossy - have you ever tasted Welsh lamb? It's fantabulous!
Welsh dry cure bacon is divine! And bacon and mushroom sandwiches are wonderfu
Speaking of bacon, I need to start our supper. Do carry on but keep me in the loop.
OOPS! re the hubby (ask) thing, Glantarell. I didn't realise the situation.
no prob Jacula!
hi everyone .. what are we purchasing?
My house welki
indeed!
HI welki. A property in Wales, I believe.
http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-fo r-sale/property-33512993.html
what is the price needed glant?
£300,000
I did have one, but I think it's down a manganse mine shaft now.:-((
akk so about 450,000
so 3500 babblers
coal mine surely LOL Jacula
ohh, it's lovely!
at 100 each
How many babblers are there?
not sure have to ask dr_g
It is lovely welki - i m sad to lose it
stupid husband
no way to keep it and perhaps turn it into a business? guided flyfishing tours? (now why would i think of that?)
Glantarell - No, a manganese mine - it was in North Wales.
more than lovely - I'm drooling over here...
Won't be buying the property - other houses too close. I liked my mountain hideaway.
hey, there is great salmon and trout fly fishing in the rivers here
when i lived in the states, glan, i gave up a house, too .. 1840 center hall colonial on a small acreage, right on the convergence of two trout streams
so i commisserate.
i didn't know thee were amnagnese mines in n wales jacula - where was your house?
ty for the commiserations welki
Merionithshire (now Gwynnedd)
where in meirionydd?
Llanbedr.
ah, lovely area - I am from Anglesey originally
Before that, I was in the village above, Llanfair.
Glantarell - here's a bit of info on manganese mining in the area: http://tinyurl.com/3zpxn76
I was in the Rhinog Mountains.
eyelids are closing - good luck with the house and the idiot in it. :) Hope it's a rager of an STD! Nighty night!
and there i was thinking it was all slate mining in gwynedd
i hope it's a rager of an STD too lol - and goodniht angela
Well, you've learned something new today then, Glantarell.
i learn something new mots days Jacula - but thanks for today's tidbit
and now it's 2am and |I'd best be off to sleep - 20 left but not finishing
hope the std eats his winkie down to a nub
I hope the STD makes his winkie fall off LOL
night all! *poof*
poor glant..what a position to be in;((
'Night Glantarell.
war of the roses indeed
Any one need any grid clues before I wander off?
Night, glan!
Not me jac, but thanks
war of the roses btw is a great movie starring micheal douglas and an actress i cannot remember..they divide the entire youse in half and porceed to drive each other mental
house
* Michael, LOL
whatever
I knew you'd say that!
spell check as you need it
:)
Kathleen Turner
that would be her
'Micheal' instead of 'Michael' is one of the most common typos, as is beginning a business letter 'Dead Sir'.
Jac, I love your icon!
good thing i do not give a rats tickus about typos lol since i cannot type anyways
uusue - thanks!
"Dead Sir" is my favorite typo
i do not care if it is typed in igpay antentay as long as i can decipher it
pig latin that is
The other thing that my typists used to slip up on (in the old days when you typed and used carbon paper for copies) ws the word 'account', which we typed a lot. It would often end up as 'acoCUNT'. I've no idea why it always ended up spelled wrongly with the rude part in upper case, but it did!
Crossy - my ex-M_I_L speaks pig Latin.
I see the same thing on Babble sometimes, if a rude word is to be found it gets put in the chog and in upper case.
Jac, it's been my unfortunate experience that even with the event of spell check, people just keep on ignoring the red squiggly line. Especially on business related documents.
fo6/27 clue pls?
Molly - 'in my day' spell check didn't exist! We'd only just got electronic typewriters by the 80s, despite working for a computer company. I, as supervisor, was the grammar, punctuation and spell- checker. LOL
wordfind - fo6.27 - a nasty smell.
.. or, try 'emeny' + 'rocky promontary' for fo6, if the other clue doesn't work.
never saw that spelling for that word!
fireworks
thx jac
Speaking of spell-checks, I should have typed 'enemy'. LOL
y/w, wordfind.
My favourite grid word today was fo8/60. Old English word for indeed or 'in truth'. I'd like to see it in use again today.
zounds!
gadzooks!
egads?
(hail and well met....)
hey, stiddy :-)
evening all
hey dan!
bonjour, chere Une la belle de tout le mode!
*silly mama grin*
LOLOL!!
oops. speaking of TYPOS! ***MONDE*** (though maybe mode works too?)
and it is time for crossy to hit the sack with his beloved.read a bit.and back massagesand a nice sleep...good night everyone and happy babbling...poof!
nite, crossy
sweet dreams cross!
and, down to 136 with NBT I will also bid you a fond adieu. I am just exhausted -- woke up early (pre-alarm by about 40 minutes), and had a stressful but not unpleasant day. This evening, ONE lesson plan, and dinner. And then I sleep. Or else. *stern mama look at world*
**Hugs and choclits for all** *poof*
so
evening all
Good evening to my fellow babblers! How is everyone?
By the way, congratulations to all the finishers! YAY!
hi min ...
What is NBT? The initials suddenly appeared and i seen no clue to their meaning.
NBT = no blank tiles (meaning you have a least one word from each of the available tiles)
I have seen ;(
Thank you, Pini.
you're welcome ;)
(NBS = no blank stats [meaning you have at least one word from each of the tile lengths [[below the word list]])
Okay ...now I'm curious, and have to ask ... how is NBS different from NBT .. you lost me with that explanation Pini
NBT relates to the stat section below the grid, NBS relates to the section below the word list
Okay .. I see now.
* smile *
Like...right now, I have NBT, but not NBS :-/
Evening all. May I please have a clue for any ao's? Thanks
think blood
Thanks much, Poirot.
1st ae?

Good Evening Everybody. I was here before 8AM today; now I return to try and finish -with 159 words left to find. Is it do-able?
Hello Nef! How are you doing? Welcome to the puzzle.
I'm doing okay, Min. How are you?
Grid is a little tough, but definitely doable with a list.I also have a story of clues in my profile if you need it.
I am well. I'm going to enter my last word soon. Been savin' it since 1:57 game time so I can help with clues
A story! Oh Goodie!!! I love your stories
fo6? (first?)

Pini, fo6: enemy + first three letters of one of our Babblers name (gone).
danke

Do I need to go to the PB on that one?
don't think so
fo8? (for nbs)
I have two left sa5-14 and st6-21 please....thanks
What did you say to get in trouble, GA?
fo8/60 is fo plus consonant plus so 5/12 word Pinikula
Pini, a Shakespearian -type of word
Just trying to clue, Nef.....I'm not very good at it.
got it ;)
LOL, GA! I was hoping you's "spill the beans" and actually SAY a word in chog! :-)
I've been known to do that.
so Have I; I think it's a common problem of cluing for some grids
he6 (first?)
That he6/21 is a car that carries coffins in it Pinikula
I haven't listed yet Pini; my 1st he 6 is a pl though
thanks, Min
there's one before that, nef ;)
thx! :)
Pini, think Mortuary.
qu7?
past tense of the word before it
sorry, 7/40
yw
I don't know Pini
A qu 7/40 is qu 4/7 word plus babbler ***gone Pinikula
danke ;)
Gotta love that babbler!!!
Right on, Pini.
st6-21 please.....thanks
Hello all -- here's the next icon theme. I'm delighted that I was able to change it here on the new desktop, which had been giving me trouble. It seems it had acquired a Trojan before I did a virus scan, but it's gone now, thank goodness.
hi jilli
Hi cuz ;-)
st 6/21 word is st + the Grapes of W**** gapeach1066
Thanks so much Min.
yw
Hello jillibus! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid.
Min, my very last word is sa5-14 please.....thanks
hi jilli! I just read your icon information. I have a granny square blanket that fits a queen sized bed; it's all just one giant granny square in soft pastel (kind of baby) colors
Hi Min -- I finished a few hours ago -- had lots to do afterwards. I'd love a day with nothing to do but babble!
Nef -- that sounds lovely
It is lovely, jilli; and my grandson takes his naps under it and holds it up and says the colors as he points to them! :-)
What a wonderful heirloom, nef!
Did you make it?
ro5 after 'grounded'?
I just wish I knew who made it; I received it as an anonymous gift pkg.
(and it weighs a ton!)
ro5/16 -- rhymes with ro**, paper, scissors
rock?
roque.
yes, peach, LOL!
Darn.....I'm on my way.....any choclits in there?
thx peach!
thanks, GA! :-)
Thanks
Congratulations jillibus on finishing early! Way to go!
ro7/28?
the ro6 beheads the game where you hit a ball through hoops
did you finish now Min?
sa5/14?
the boy is crying Pin
sa 5/14 is unhappy plus the opposite of she Pinikula.
Not yet Nef.I'm waiting for Pinikula to get FWs so we can get them together.Been saving my last one since 1:57 PM.But I might just enter last word soon anyway
thx! :)
I clued that as an unhappy guy

I just googled granny squares. Now I know that it is.
I got story of clues in my profile if you need gremlinn.
ah, I'm finished, I mean for the upcoming puzzle
granny squares are crocheted and were very popular in the '70's. I have a beautiful queen-sized blanket made of just one square in pastel colors
