hello ruby -- are you getting decent weather now? We had a lovely day today.
it rained during the night, so everything is green and lovely. It's been raining during the night for a few days, so the drught appears to be over and it's perfect in the afternoons
are you still up this late?
it's amazing to me, jilli, that you can stay up so late!
ruby, it's only 5 minutes to midnight here.
oh, not as bad as I thought. I guess I was thinking of the East coast rather than the West...duh
People do that. I got a phone call once at 5 am from someone in South Africa who forgot Canada is not all one time zone.
I should know better by now
morning all how many words this morning please
There was even a Babbler in NC who didn't realise we have more than one time zone (the Eastern one).

good morning my dear babble friends!
howdy trif;))
this grid is a tricky little monkey, isn't it?
indeed
How was graduation Trif?
It was really, really lovely, molly. Great weather, sunny, but not hot, nor too chilly, and the speakers were all excellent, and I didn't need the whole box of tissues I brought....my mom was in great form and made it through the whole ceremony without issue, and Primo was composed and had a great time.
congratulations, Trif!
Sounds wonderful.
the only dark spot was delivered via mr. hate, as expected. He arrived on time, with his partner, sat WAY up in the stands, not in the family area, and left without saying so much as one word to me, nor tertiare. He said hello (and that was it) to secondo, took a couple of photos of primo, and then left. I am surprised at how stung I am.
yaa for primo!
It takes a true asshat to behave in such a way at his son's graduation.
I know we aren't friends, but it was our son's graduation! To completely dismiss me like that, and to only put in a token appearance, at best, was really disappointing.
do not let it shadow that day
He sounds like my ex husband
I am trying crossy, I really, really am. I know it says more about my expectations than anything else, and I am the one who is responsible for those.
I am choosing to remember the good stuff. Seriously!
good girl
Trif, it just shows how juvenile he is. Any mature man would put aside any differences and make the day about his son, the graduate.
Trif, and that is all you should remember. Do not give Mr. Hate the power to shadow your life.
primo is fine with it, and that is the bigger concern, to me. were he hurt, or feeling rejected, it would be more of a big deal.
but a narcissist cannot do that...it is all about HIM
Yes Annie, the oh so tiring "it's all about me" show. I've learned to distance myself from people like that.
and that is all the chog space mr hate gets today. He does not deserve our greater attentions
there were a TON of other graduations this weekend, and I have really enjoyed looking at the various photos on FB.. for example, my pastor's daughter graduated from Bennington college this weekend, and the photos she posted looked GREAT. A really funky, fun looking time
my son is 17 and as a rarity is currently enjoying school and he knows his course in life already.he wished to be an auto mechanic and it just so happens we are getting a new college built just up the road and it will be ready in time for him..i will sell the bloody furniture if i have to to get him those college course..cannot wait, you are a lucky woman trif.my son will be the first male in our family to graduate normally(crossy finished via adult classes) and i hope it is a great a day as you and primo had
it sort of can't help but be great, crossy. The pride you will feel is so wonderful
wow, the li 5.10 is a new word for me. interesting!
i
pride indeed.he has some learning disabilities and has been a fight with life and the school system, but the mysteries of the automobile engine speak to him and he is a savant with it..amazing really
I am so happy for your son, crossy...his life will be so much easier knowing what he wants to do
lol half the time he puts the shoes on the wrong foot, but can tune up your car lol
and i am happy for primo.does primo know the next step yet?
ty annie
indeed annie i am almost 50 and still do not know what i want to do
well if all the red tape for my bookstore gets unravelled i will bury myself in tomes and e-book gift cards and art supplies and never look back;0
Lets see - the current plan: primo is attending the Massachusetts College of Art and Design. He feels certain he would like to go into teaching, so he is looking at a five year plan which will allow him to graduate with an MFA and a teaching certificate
and I will order books from your store, crossy
very nice trif:)
however, a good 75% of students who start at Mass Art end up graduating in something other than what they started in, so we will see!
primo is
for you annie, the first one is on me
thank you! crossy
Primo is incredibly good with physics, so he may end up in an engineering, architecture, or industrial design field, you never know
also, he is starting college as a published illustrator, having done an article for the Boston Globe and a book already, so he may continue there.
of course, he could be an illustrator and a teacher; they neednt be exclusve
I like your bookstore idea, crossy! virtual or brick and mortar?
i want bricks and mortar first
a web site can be added later
i want it very basic, very old school ambiance first hardwood shelving with that nice milk paint for that distressed look a cosy corner with a pair of wing back chairs and a table by a window for for just reading the paper or checking out books you may want.a bowl of werthers on the counter paper recipts and hand ledgers and a book store cat named italics ;)
It will be a wonderful book store
my wifes art supplies in a corner, paints, scetch pads and the writing instruments brushes canvas etc
i used to sell antique glass years ago and have rescued some old inkwells i have some in blue glass brown, red etc, will get some quills and use them as part of the decor as well
*sigh* i love crossy ;)
:)
i want it so cosy, you will never want to leave

Hi peri Darn, phone brb.
Sounds like Crossy's bookstore needs a Babble Corner, too. And a Craft Circle, and a Reading Circle, and a Writers' Club.... LOL
lol, need a bigger store now lol
i will take the chance on loitering peri, this is a old time store set up,a place to feel at home meet friends to get a book or 2 on the way to lunch,a place to de-stress at the end of a cold hard day i am not after the get them in and get them out type of place.if you buy something great,if not then then someone else about the place
sounds like a lovely place, crossy, did not mean to put a damper on it. would like you to make some money tho
rule of thumb is take a loss on year one, break even on year 2 and start making money on year 3 lol
going for my walk, bbl
hello and bye bye Peri
'Bye Peri.
more and more as we get more stressed and get more gadgets tossed at us we get stressed, being available at all times on the cell phone..this is a calm place, where you walk in brush the snow off your jacket, grab a werthers off the counter and head over to the wood stove for a moment to warm yourself, taking in that great old book smell.you give the cat italics a pet and spy that wonderfull old hard cover by your favorite author and your cares melt away, you buy the book, turn off the cell phone and sit in the wingback chair and scan the first chapter before you head home with your new treasure...lol tea and med time for crossy when he starts to was poetic ...brb

the top i anyway
hi vagirl
I have four, jmc, and hi, VA!
only 184 to go!! hego for the support!!!
and now for crossy,s tidbit of the day!!.....
Tuesday is the most popular day of the week for giving birth. Part of that factor has nothing to do with Nature and everything to do with hospital staffing since elective C-sections and induced labors are often scheduled during traditional working hours.
my daughter was born on a tuesday.... tuesday's child is full of grace
my boy was born on a sunday
and she was all natural... no drugs
my son was born on a Wednesday
Ouch again!
my boy was born on a wednesday... wednesday is full of woe
he was all natural too, up until the very end, but it took a really long time (like 3 days; you don't want to know)
seems i was born on a wednesday
What a woman!!!
my daughter was born on 12/23. I went home Christmas day. They brought her to me in a Christmas stocking.
holy moly sue!!
a child was born on the sabbath day is bonny and blithe and good and gay
eals
i was born on a saturday
cute, poodle!
OOPs
how cute poodle!
Morning folks
I was born on a Tuesday - mom was due on Nov. 1, and doc refused to induce, until the 24th, when he knew he wanted to go hunting on Thanksgiving
and my son was on a saturday
it's ok if it's not actually a word, hego :-)
Hi Mr Bob
my daughter was born on Estonia Day... that is the birthplace of her grandfather/ paternal side.... imagine the joy there!!
saturdays child must work for a living
hi, mr bob and jess!
hi bob and jess!! :)
hi sue and everyone else
nice, mrp!
Hi Jess
she just got in by 3 minutes! LOL
here is a handy little site.you can ask it anything.....
hi mrp and hego
my son was more than 10 months and they tried to induce him for a week and then gave up and had a C-section.. . .when he was born the entire medical crew gasped. . .
http://www.trueknowledge.com/
I chose Luke's birthdate.... 7th April... he was induced.... f*** that hurt!
he was 12 lbs
oh shit jmc!!
God love ya JMC!
My daughter was born on Easter Sunday - only a week late
excuse my french.... even thou it is perfect english
12 lbs!!!!
yep the first words he heard in this life were OMG!
pretty big, jmc!!!! no wonder!!!
both kids were 3 weeks earlly
lol jmc,my father at the time held the record in the uk for the heaviest baby(and i have seen his birth cert) 14 pounds 2 ounces!
he was a bruiser until he was about 8--now is is tall and thin
i understand sammie davis jr was 13 lbs
oh crossy! that is huge!
yup and look how thin he was later on
often a baby is that large because of incipient (?) diabetes in the mother
my nephew come out looking like a 3 month old!! huge baby
just what I was thinking, jmc
they had to cut my grammy from stem to stern to get him out
that is gruesome!
nasty stuff crossy
CROSSY!!!!
myself,i was 2 pounds oz
very early baby
yeah people were always saying to me when he was two that he acted like a two year old--they thought he was 3 or 4
C-sections used to be much more dangerous than they are now...
2.2*
thankfully, my vagina is fine after all my deliveries!!
lol glad to hear it mrp!!
erm, I am glad to hear that, mrp (I think...)
We're happy for you mrp. lol
okay i must go interview a new intern--a west point student who found out in the nick of time that he was a conscientious objector to war
should I have called it my vijajay??
i am so excited!
162 left
*poof*
west point... give em hell!
good for you, jmc! more power to him!
mornin babblers

that is lovely!
Congratulations to your graduates River.
how is your hubby doing, ruby?
hello molly
would somebody else please make a martini for Mr. H?
and hi, molly!
thanks Molly....big year for both
Would you like me to drop a sleeping pill in it Ruby?
sure, I'll make him a martini, ruby - he'll just have to wait a little while for me to bring it to him :-)
he's being nasty again, so he must be feeling better. I hauled him to the doctor today just to make sure my wound dressings were good
lots of firsts and lasts
i make a killer martini ruby....
rohypnol maybe
I must go....will be back later....happy babbling
we could call the drink rubyhypnol
bye, river!
Perfect!!
bye, river, lovely seeing you!
and I'm glad you took him to the doc, ruby, and that he's feeling better (even if that makes him nastier, sigh)
he goes from being nauseatingly grateful to super-nasty in a flash!
*poof* for now
have bookmarked it crossy
you take a jumbo chilled martini glass add 3 jiggers of the finest British gin, take a sterling silver cocktail sword and spear a small pickled onion with it and gently float it in the gin and lastly, you lean over the glass and whisper the name Antonio Benedetto Carpano and serve
hi molly :))
it is a very handy site mrp and you can add your own facts to it
thanks crossy!
i just joined Geni.... a site dedicated to family tree!!
can i say it now, mrp . . . ??? YAY, RAFA!!!! LOL!
clue for first al7/36
I can't believe how much family I have!!!
and I have found heaps of family and added them
al + consonant + an **** is an assistant

!!! Matches !!!
yay, matches!!!!!!!!!!!!!
yaa for matches!
everyone come over for brunch..i have a big chunk of peameal bacon from the farm that is so lean and so fine it will bring a tear to yer eye:)
yummy, crossy, I'll be there! (Conveniently I have not yet had breakfast :-)
jumbo eggs over easy in butter, home fries all crispy with herbs and spiced the mrs is growing in her herb jug
what is an herb jug?
english muffins with 3 fruit marmalade
I know it is a jug to grow herbs in. but do you buy it in a store or make it yourself?
an herb jug stands about 4 feet tall peri and along the sides of it,cuts have been made to get little terraces that you fill with earth and plant the herbs in,so with one jug you can plant 8-10 different herbs
Oh, I have seen them in the garden shops or maybe home depot, good idea
they are amazing peri
great for small patios
they re kept outside then?
we put ours outside after mid may
i guess they are
sounds lovely, crossy!
1/2 way, bl, going to donate blood again this afternoon
it is an entire garden in one jug sue! for the wide top,the mrs plants flowers in it
byeee
Peri, something like this http://tinyurl.com/3m3lazy
it is heavy when full though(over 1oo pounds) so i have a furniture dolly just to move it around
like that molly, but mine is 4 feet high and about 4 inches around
14*
more like a wide flat bottomed amphora
we found it at the canadian tire garden centre a few years ago
I have some small versions of that but they obviously were not intended for outdoor use (they have self-destructed)
ok, finally nbt, better get on with my day. bbl!
we have an overhang on our patio so when the rain is nice and gentle i roll it out for a watering and roll it back for protection
the parsley is doing fine but the dill is struggling this year
al 6/24 anyone?
al plus a mixed up fight for honour
a+ you write this to go shopping with
oops wrong one nm crossy
thank you haz
You're welcome.
think this is another stinker grid..
Affirmative.
did I hear that morewords was going to begin charging $ 1 per word search these days?
If they do, I'm going to be ruined.
*lol*
what??!
if they do,that site will die a fast death
now,i would pay 4 dollars for lickety, but not a dollar a word for morewords lol
14*
That's how rumours get started. By tonight there'll be an online petition begging morewords to stay free.
it seems like half the words In this grid I've never seen before
And the chances are that you'll never see them again.
fine with me
I was more aghast at the idea of Babble charging amonthly membership fee.. : O
Or a monthly
whose Idea was that molly?
No clue. I just remember people talking about the new Babble and how Dr. God could make a bundle charging monthly membership. Actually, I think he would lose people doing that. Yearly maybe but not monthly.
is there anyone we can blame that on?
Am I going to have to trawl the archives?
anyone have the last co 6/24?
co6/24- fruit sauce
thank you
c's are finito
You're welcome.
I am just not getting anywhere in this grid..ugh
It's not a grid that welcomes.
And I have to go. Be strong, use the list and don't forget morewords while it's still free. Who knows when that might change?
(Stirring the pot a little more)
lol.. thanks haz
Off I go... bye!
bye for now
de6/21 #1 anyone?
do you want the one which means to remove your house from sale ... or do you want the one that sounds like a famous acne medicine?

sorry, was off looking for my glasses!
i have my dreaded first pair of glasses beside me.i do not need them for driving,or daily moving around but i now need them for reading,so i am always forgetting them
first al 7/36 plz
thank god i can bump up the font sizes on my e-reader;)
one advantage to being blind as a bat without my glasses is that I seldom forget them :-)
although if I am in a strange place and put them down somewhere I often have to ask for help finding them :-/
It's all about contact lenses, people. Vanity before practicality.
Uh oh. I think I just made up a word.
lol, contacts are not much good for me at this point, yea ill be able to read, but i would drive my car off a cliff lol
unless they have trifocal contacts now;))
Uhg. I know they have bi-focal contacts. If you need tri-focals, might as well spring for the laser surgery.
si 6 please
Hello
Time for lunch. BBL.
indeed judi,,i will wait till i need them for daily living and driving as well, then save up two grand for each eye and get them done
my brother had his done in the states, says it is amazing
howdy sadie
Hiya crosshair

ty ty ty, and special thanks for the clues! Hi UU
took me a while to remember sigmunds pal;))
and I am not getting the si6 because I only have one si4 and obviously it is the wrong one, sigh
si + mr. gore + freud's littlest friend
nm, managed to monkey it, two more words I never heard of...
and thx, lbd!
that si4 is a babblet, UU
and a geology one apparently :-/
I've probably found it before by mistyping...
lol, i think that's how i find a lot of words!
hard to imagine there are 14 v words in this grid - I'm not sure I even KNOW 14 v words!
i have exactly 4 v words atm
nyaah - I have 5 :-)
anyway, time for the rest of my coffee
:P
now i have 6:P
This grid is designed to humble those of us that have been thinking we're getting good at this. ;-)
no kidding, jan!
and I found another v word, so there! and am going to refill coffee and find out why we have no running water.
it is indeed humbling me,but as long as i can keep ahead of sue on v words,i will be happy;))))
Dear God Sue, first no AC now no running water. Are you going primitive on us? : D
I'm up to 10 v words now...and think the stats have to be defective, there can't be anymore
loca
Coming into the home stretch, it's Jan by a length!!
Oops, that'll teach me...
have 7 v words now:)
While in the PB I will think about v words...
lol
8 v words..
Livin' la vida Jan
9
One thing--there are some unusual past tenses in those v's
just found the oen that is a pt to get a travel permit
*yawns, stretches* man, after last week, i am SO GLADD my manager is finally coming back tomorrow. one thing i can cross off of my list of stressors!
Yeah, that one is particularly strange. Ironically, I have to stop on my way to work and pick up my passport from a place that sends them away to get foreign vi/4's. So it will be vi/6 appropriately.
thx, crossy, that got me two more, but I still only have 8 :-)
OK all 14 accounted for. Now on to the c's...
and molly, I live in a very old house that has had a lot of very cheap work done on it, so a lot of things about it are weird.
Sue, are you in the chem/biochem branches of science? If so, there are three related words that you may use in experiments.
the reason there wasn't any water upstairs was because the washing machine was running and someone flushed the toilet. that didn't leave any for the rest of the house.
And three are musically related...
hi, all--need help with my last word --ac6/24?
And two have to do with small mammals
unfortunately, jan, I do high energy physics, and haven't taken chemistry since high school
although I do have two v words that are little glass containers
and two that involve small mammals
will look for musical words now!
ac + vowel + hawaiian flower necklace
And when you used them in the past...your work was vi/6?
i have twelve now(crossy one key is busted)
well, so it was! who knew?
off to do something constructive. good luck with this beast
2 more to go
And what a wiater says in a French restaurant when your entree arrives
that's waiter...
And a Roman construction for moving water
ty, lbd! thought i had tried all combos, but obviously missed that one!
anyone need a clue?
ty for all the wonder clues everyone
ty jan..heeded that one'
ha! got all the v's. thx, all, especially jan!
YVW...
crossy is missing one v
want a clue, crossy?
The French cloth, perhaps?
someone wanted to give me a bass vi4/7 once because she wanted to play with me; I pointed out that she already had someone; she said I was better than he was; I pointed out that I didn't play it at all but she said that as soon as I learned I'd be better than he was (if that makes any sense)
must be the one jan..looking....
I turned her down, though, as I really had to focus on writing my dissertation - oh well...
Hi does anyone have a clue for the ki7 plz?
Bombs power are measured in it, at least in Europe
thanks. I got it!
Sue there is no end to your talents. : D
ah - another entry for the physics babblets!
so, heard from mom this morning, and it sounds like they FINALLY have a diagnosis for my dad...
well, they kind of ended there, molly, as I pretty much gave up music (except choral music) to focus on physics
oh, eva, that is great! even if it is not good, I mean, it is good to know.
"neurological neuropathy from acute spinal arthritis"
ah. do they know what part of his spine is affected? (it sounds a little bit like what is going on with my neck)
What's the treatment Eva?
im not sure, as thats all her email said. they will be moving him (probably tomorrow) temporarily to a nursing home to undergo physical therapy until he can walk again, then he can return home.
That all sounds positive. Hopefully surgery won't be needed.
doesnt seem so, jan. im just hoping he is up to the challenge. mom said when that news came in, his first reaction was of the "oh, not a nursing home -- now i will NEVER go home" variety... and as we all know, outlook is SO much of it...
Does the nursing home have separate areas from the permanent residents for the physical therapy folks? My mom's nursing home did--in fact, lots of the PT patients were fairly young (accidents, strokes, etc.) and they were definitely working towards going beck home.
Well hopefully he will realize that the harder he works on his therapy, the faster he will be out of that place.
personally, im hoping the home they send him to is one that doesnt allow drinking or smoking of ANY sort. not only will that be good for his health, but it will also motivate him to work harder on the PT to go home faster...
Sounds like what my dad did, eva; he was there for about 5 weeks. They can be very depressing places so if you and your mom can keep him upbeat and working on recovery that will be very helpful.
jan, not sure which one he is going to, but i would assume that to be the case. but, he turns 70 this year, so its not like he would be one of the "younger folks"
And I don't think any of them allow you to smoke or drink, at least inside (I think they could go outside - far outside - to smoke)
Hi everyone. How many words today, please?
185, krysten
Interesting--my mother's roomie in the Alzheimer's wing used to have port sneaked it for a bedtime tipple. I think the staff was fully aware but they chose to look the other way.
my grandmothers nursing home allowed her a glass of sherry before bed each night, as she was physically healthy, and it was her regular routine for years. and, as you said, some allow you to smoke outside. im hoping for one that bans it all outright.
anyway, eva, I've moved my dad's story below the physics babblets in my profile but it is still there - he turned 90 in March, so please feel free to use him as an example if that is helpful :-)
thanks sue. so hard today since the internet here at work is really unsteady.
he is now fully recovered...
I am LOVING the stories about the elders getting their nightly glass of wine.
ha, molly, in my dad's case it is Jack Daniels but he didn't want it in the rehab center - saved it for when he got home.
Sue, I think I could have a great evening with your Dad, having some Jack and listening to him tell stories.
first to 5/10??
anyway it is now noon here and 90 degrees out so I suppose if I am going to show my face at work (which technically I don't have to since they only pay me one month's salary for the three summer months) I should get going.
and molly, I think you would love my dad - he has lots of stories!! (he's even written his memoirs)
evening all
and i am off - hi, kazz, and see you all soon!
I always think the idea that academics have the summer off is one of the crueler academic jokes. I think I work harder in the summer than during the school year.
The first one I have sammysmom is what bread is after you put it into an oven
thanks car
In our county, teachers get paid a set salary that is divided up into twelve months of payments. That way, they don't go the summers with no paycheck.
Any clues for the cu6 & 7?
Don't have it yet Judi.
starts with what cows chew ... and the whole word means to beat with a stick ...
it's an old fashioned word for a club/ weapon
love the Mr. Bill icon, Judi :)
TY!
Ty. Never would have found that one.
I'd like to beat this grid with a stick.
I need stats for the E please?
e 4/4, 5/16
TY!
this grid is very hard even with the list
This grid is full of gibberish. Starting with the very first word, ac5. What happens when you get ac5? Do you put on acoat?
: )
ahhh..crossy has soaped his muscular mass down in a delightful shower for 2 and am now lounging around in pj bottoms sipping ice cold Arizona iced tea with ginsing:) tis the life:)
thanks for that first word, Molly :)
howdy lilM:))
hi cwossy
Name that proper noun: Vodka brand.
vodka yum!
stoli!
Poteen!
Ding! Ding! Ding! Car.ee gets the Cosmo!
(I was just adding another kind of liquor to the list)
Rims martini glass with pink sugar and sends it over to Judi....
*sigh* Gave up drinking vodka. Triggered the migraines.
Must have been the cranberry juice. :p
how are there 9 h words?
i have 7
*slips fingers around Judi's cosmos glass*
I have 8 of them...so I know at least 8 of them are real!
now I have 8 H words
the H words all hi**!
The h's aren't too hellish (compared to the i's).
hi!!
why not past tense of the Hawaiian dance? that should be a word :(
Hi Ruby!
except for the hawaian dance
hi ruby
you funny ruby
hello jmc and car.
it is a noun lil!
ty onyx!
perhaps we could put on a latin ending....
hi dos
what is a noun, jmc?
the hawiian dance
Got 'em all!
therefore no pt
and it should have a past tense seeing as you can do it twice ...;
hmmm i don't agree
let get some lovely hawaiian ladies here to dance while we consider this?
eating English bet chips and drinking vodka (while looking for a few words but who cares?)
beet*
I took hula when I lived in Hawai'i...will that do?
what's in a Cosmo?
Lil, you wouldn't say they hu4ed, you would say they did the hu4. I think.
just fine..get those hips swivelling
Vodka, triple sec, cranberry and lime Ruby
that sounds wonderful
and good for you, too
Puts on grass skirt and coconut bra....
if you have chips with it, you have almost all the food groups
It's basically a Kamikaze with cranberry added.
got my h's yeah! I'd love a martini
never had a kamikaze, either....
i should make some crossys famous long island iced tea....
this sounds like a party -- crossy mixing drinks, car.eeyore dancing, molly, onyx and ruby drinking. How bad is that?
the Hawaiian dictionary online says hu4 is a noun/transitive verb
:)
nothing can go wrong;))
and lil* parsing the drinks!!!!
A transvestite noun. Fascinating.
i'll bring some guacamole...
mahalo :)
hi again, all! I survived the walk to work despite the 92 degree heat (actually I don't think that thermometer is right but i'll take it)
I am indulging in a small bowl of coconut pineapple ice cream as we speak....O.....M.....G!
oh no, ms. judi!!!!
I'll make some chips
coconut is my favorite!!!!!
It is amazing!
I'm packing it in with 29 left. This one is just too much of a brain drain.
anyway, hi to car, ruby, lil, onyx, judi, crossy, molly, dose...
There is a coffee shop around here that makes Coconut Cream smoothies in the summer...with shredded coconut in them!!!!!
Hi uusue!
omg, car, sounds WONDERFUL!!!
Don't leave Judi...the party is just getting rolling!
The little flakes of coconut get in the straw...soooo yummmmmmy!
Gotta jet. See you kids tomorrow! *POOF*
but will it go through a straw?
oooh coconut smoothies
i have part of a bag of shredded coconut at home. i can have coconut for dinner, right??
the party is better than the grid!
Go for it Eva!
(at the moment I am just drinking water, trying to rehydrate - do not like this weather)
Yes, it does go through the straw....and the fresh whipped cream on top....too divine!
absolutely, eva! it's a fruit, right?
car, i can imagine that going over well with the hubby. "so, what did you have for dinner before your running class tonight?" "coconut." "cool, what else? "more coconut..."
Try this Eva....oh honey! My Babble friends told me about the best new diet craze!!!! Coconut!!!! I am dong 1 whole day of eating coconut and then once a day for a week! I am so excited!
since my husband chided me for eating too much (huh?), I am doubling up on desserts
mmmmm.....coconut diet....
coconut smoothies with rum in them, and cocnut flan...
for those that would like a crossy long island iced tea: /2 ounce each og gin, rum, vodka and trppile sec use a tall frosted glass add 3/4 glass of pink lemonade(no pulp) and add a splash of coke or pepsi.add shaved ice and garnish with slice of lemon or lime
or just pour rum into a coconut and stick a straw in - you just keep adding rub
m
biab
one half ounce each
poink
anyone have the ac6?
Check this out....Coconut is highly nutritious and rich in fiber, vitamins, and minerals. It is classified as a "functional food" because it provides many health benefits beyond its nutritional content. Coconut oil is of special interest because it possesses healing properties far beyond that of any other dietary oil and is extensively used in traditional medicine among Asian and Pacific populations. Pacific Islanders consider coconut oil to be the cure for all illness. The coconut palm is so highly valued by them as both a source of food and medicine that it is called "The Tree of Life." Only recently has modern medical science unlocked the secrets to coconut's amazing healing powers.
I don't lil*monkey....searching now....
When I was in Tonga (on an Earthwatch expedition researching giant clams) we would go to the market every morning and buy green coconuts to drink later - coconut water is very good, and a good source of drinkable water in a place surrounded by salt water
ac6 = ac + vowel + Hawaiian garland (since we are talking about coconut anyway :-)
Ty uusue!
thanks sue!
OK....got to finish my work! I would MUCH rather stay and play here in BabbleLand though!
ty sue
{{car.}}
{{ruby}}
ty sue. earth watch? sounds interesting
it was great, onyx! I was single at the time and had some extra money, so I could afford to do it - basically it's a tax deductible vacation where you go help someone's research
sounds terrific, sue
you can find them at www.earthwatch.org
Any clue for cl5/14? Thanks
the expedition I did isn't available any more (not surprising as it was almost 25 years ago) but there are lots of others.
add a vowel to the cl4/6, kenny
Thanks uusue!
good night everybody. I give up with 71 left!
Interesting about coconut oil Car. Trees are very medicinal. Aspirin comes from a derivative of the willow tree.

A patient just showed up so I will step out soon. How are you, Sue?
I'm good, scrabs! Enjoying the summer although it is too hot.
but nice not to be swamped with work...
And in the winter we complain about how co4 it is.
Indeed we do! However it is now up to 93 degrees and humid, bleah.
Afternoon Babblers!
we will be close to 90 tomorrow and 80 today
Z
hi, red! How are you doing today?
Hi Red + Inge.
I'm alright, just hanging about staring at the ceiling.
Ohh must go change icon though.
lets see if it worked.
Hilarious Red!
thanks and Hi Molly, and everyone.
Hi Red, how goes the healing?
Same stuff. I am trying to resist the urge to overanalyze every little symptom.
It's got to be hard to be a patient when you are a nurse.
I just worry about this and that, but overall, i think things are going alright. Not much more I can do...watching turner classic movies...
Head it is hot and steamy up your way Molly.
errr heard..
Not so bad today but later in the week we'll be near 100. Blargh.
I'm back--finished with a "little wheezer."
Are you at the reservation today Scrabbler?
Yes, every Monday. Seneca Indians. Always interesting.
Woot, I passed halfway!
not near, I have 116 left.

Work is so distracting.

Crossy, go to Babble Community on FB and most people have mentioned their Babble names. I will find you later as FB is blocked at this ofc.
Which tablet did you get?
the monkeys are worn out. :-P
So are mine--they found some rather odd words.
Very
oy. thank goodness, almost time to go. only just through monday, and im already ready for the weekend!
Monday is like that
hi all, no time to play, but time enoughto snark about it won't accept "cludge"
Hi BDG
that's because it's spelled with a K, I think, gwen
and hi :-)
that did get me another word, though, now have exactly 100 :-)
i spell it with a C, so there LOL
and don't back down
oh, then yvw
hi hego
well, i be flyin', back later mebbee
Bye
bye, gwen! nice to see you, however briefly!
Are the il's normal words?
they're kind of technically medical, hego, so I suppose it depends on what you think of as normal :-)
that's normal for me. ty
(at least this is true of the two I've found; I don't know how many there are)
LOL. Fox News used a photo of tina fey accidentally while covering sarah palin
One is the Homer poem

Ends like an Italian dessert

I was talking about the first one, cos
Sue are you talking about the first co 6/24?
oh ok so was i :)
yes, the past tense of the fossil fuel
ty for the homers poem clue, would never have seen that one
I think that is a fairly common past tense, in reference to snakes
ywCrossy
not the snaky one, molly, unless they've been eating fossil fuels...
My mistake. I agree with you then, odd past tense.
ah thanks molly for that co6
i cant find either al7
al + consonant + assistant

hewoo pewi
hi, peri!
guten tag, inge, I miss you! (ich hab' dir gemissen? -- but never vergessen)
hey all!
yt, ty
Hi Peri
hi, stid!
I learned a good lesson today. Always sign up for a blood drive. I decided to go over to the local chruch after my errands today and no one was there and the door was locked. I called the Red Cross who informed me that it had been cancelled. I had not signed up since I did not know when I would be available today. But I did drink extra water and made sure I got enough iron in my food. So it was frustrating but not the end of the world
hi stiddy
just wanted to do a good thing today and was not able to ;(
did they cancel it because no one signed up?
a good lesson, peri -- and next time you will know to call in advance!
last drive i went to,there was 50 people and a 5 minute wait for 4 cots, but the screening take a bit of time anyways
work shortage or something I did not really hear her. just wanted to confirm that there had been one and that I was not completely crazy. I had written it on my calender too
Bye for now All.
next drive is at the local hospital on 6/30. I will wait til about a week before to call and sign up

on a different note I am cooking borwn rice and will make a stir fry tonight with sweet long red peppers, baby bok choy, onions and garlic.

reminds me of a old twilight zone story whhere the doctors are frantically working on a girl whose face is horribly disfigured..alas the operation is a faliure, the nurse removes the bandages and screams with revusion at what she sees, the camera pans to the patient and we behold a beautiful woman any man woudl dream of..then the camera pans to the doctors and nurses who are toad people lol
monkey
oh, everything is about perception when you come down to iot
when a man loves a woman .....
indeed, normal is what society says it is,the brave ones just test the boundries
insanity provides a welcome respite from the rigors of reality
dont know if any of you know of the weird saga going on with congressman anthony weiner and his peepee twitter shot?
Percy Sledge

you take off your shoes to jump on a trampoline..;0

I REMEMBER THAT TWILIGHT ZONE EPISODE CROSS...
hes refusing to resign.. he was generally seen as the next Mayor of NYC. i guess that won't happen now
thats one of my fave twilight zone episodes crossy!
the original twilight zone with rod serling rocks
but my absolute fave twilight zone is "jess-belle" i can never find it on tv anymore

jess-belle, pig nosed people, monsters on maple street are my personal favorites
the one with william shatner on the plane
I am so old I remember when God said, "Let there be light."
theres a funny story about that episode crossy...
and the one with the jet lost in time and it keeps trying to find the ever if took off in
era
I don't think so Babble :-)
lol, br!
in an episode of 3rd rock from the sun, william shatner did a guest appearance and john lithgow asks how his flight was. Shatner says "i think i saw a gremlin on the wing" and john goes " that happened to me once too!"
john did the same episode in the twlight zone movie.
<--- loves science fiction but never watched much Twilight Zone
i feel so old right now,i would not be surprised if i could fart dust;))
lmao - so descriptive crossy
crossy has a knack for taCT
my fave is the oddesy of flight 33

well, there's a big shock. Weiner admitted that the wienergate wiener was Weiner's wiener.
to follow charlie sheen's lead: Wein-ing?
love it!
New bumper stickers for his district " I like Weiner "
the sad thing is he was/is the frontrunner to be NYCs next Mayor.
well, he isnt stepping down from office, so he still may be.
the man has to be an absolute ASS to do such a thing and throw away his career
right eva.. and it is NYC...

nice single malt glenfidditch
cool, there is a to4/4 that refers to a type of folk painting on ceramic - replace its last vowel with a different vowel to make a to4/5
you warm it over a candle and add just a drop of branch water to release the aromas
sa5/14?
then add the Freudian thing that goes with ego and superego to make the to6/24
and add a final vowel to make the to7/36
single malts are quite special, crossy! very nice!!!
every once in a while, you can get them in mini casks...
just noticed stoli in the grid, speaking of which
no problem sue..crossy is easily satisfied by the very best
never mind found it

first one I have adds a vowel to the previous to4/4, cos
I think I shall have to look back. I have no excuse to not finish these days but I keep not finishing...
nope thats not it.. the only to4 before that is the to 4/5
the first to4/5 is an animal

Hi Monkey. I am again in love with the Physical therapists, some of them anyway.
OK thanks uusue! Hi RED, how's the patient????
I only have a cu7. but I have no list yet.
wow, they must be pretty good, red! I often hated mine (well, depending on what I was recovering from - the knee replacements were the worst)
lol, red, that seems to be the one I am missing!
I think I am OK, My hip feels very loose and strange...but that may be because it has never been unimpinged.... They massage my piriformis....I love them...
ai7 x 2, cu7, ki7, oc7, to7 and vi7
none of them normal lol
It has become obvious that I am fairly tolerant of pain. So I am tending to do better with this part of recovery.
Hang in there red :)
plus we cant adduct or abduct the hip, so..that would probably make me cry.
Well, the cu7 can't be a normal plural of the cu6 that I have...
the beating thing Sue?
right, that one :-)
AL7 x2, not Ai
theres only one cu6 and one cu7
or maybe it can. I keep forgetting there are two L's.
i meant al sorry
sigh, so now I have all the 7's :-)
wtg!
LOL thanks hurshy.... now that I have strained my monkey brain looking for ai7s
but still 53 left (although I haven't listed yet...)

hi dawg!
i hate my computer.
problems, car?
Well, it's been a busy no-babble day and now I have to get supper and go to bridge! 63 left. I'm out most of tomorrow too! Phew!
Laptop crapped out yesterday....needs new battery and the cord seems to also have died....my work computer is archaic and slow.
84 here...blah. they really are hiding.
i hear you, Car. i keep nursing along my sweet little HP. can't afford a new one and i just hate not having this one at my beck and call.
Hi Jilli! what's for supper?
tough grid, red.
Hi red!
hi car, and lbd and jilli if she is still here.
there is NO icon theme for tomorrow!!! I am freaked out.
Supper -- half a small leftover smoked salmon quiche and spinach nuggets, half a glass of sauvignon blanc -- gotta go! See y'all after the flip...
Now the boys are yammering at me. Ugh. Time for bed. The Bruins are on anyway!
I want spinach nuggets!!!!!
hi MRP!
bye, jilli, enjoy dinner and bridge
Hi again, (((MRP))) i want to know what spinache nuggets are.
OK...my free time is up. Grrrr.
night, car. hope your team wins and the computers all get back to working right for you.
hi car, dawg et al :)) i don't know either, but i luv spinach!!
see ya later car **hugs**
hmm, from the recipes i found, spinach nuggets are balls of spinach mixed with onion, croutons, cheese and eggs then baked.
ummmm..... yum!!
i have to go for a scan babble friends... see you all later on!!
take care, (((MRP)))
(((LBD))) hey all!
Good evening to my fellow babblers! How is everyone?
By the way, congratulations to all the finishers! YAY!
it's a lovely sunny day here -- no thunderstorms like they predicted. Probably hit us double hard tomorrow!
hey Min! welcome to the grid!
We were supposed to get T-Storms too, but got none
(((STIDDY)))
hi min
stiddy, i wish your weather would head my way. the storms we're getting now are coming out of the south. :-(
ick. south are bad storms for you. *mental nudge to my weather to move ea4*
how's you LBD?
Hello lbdawger! How are you doing? Did you finish grid
Morning everyone. Hey - Stid is back!
hey lynxxx!
Hello lynxxx! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid
how does Tuesday look to you, lynxxx?
Nice inside the house. Bit cold and miserable out there - seems we will have a proper Winter this year
well, maybe if you have a proper winter, we shall have a proper summer -- didn't last year.
and what is happening with you Stid?
well, I have apparently finished the Master's program -- just waiting for the papers to come in the mail. volunteering now with my teacher friends until the end of the school year.
Wow...Congrats - that was a looong slog! and then you go hunting for a position?
yes, I will substitute teach in the fall, and wait until mid-year to look for real. By then I will have more references and people will already know who I am. I am limited in where I can teach by where I live. Not going to move to a city, so have to wait for the local (rural) districts to have some openings.
Hope you don't have to wait too long, some of hose Baby Boomers must be thinking of retiring soon surely
Congratulations stidmama on getting your Masters. I have to say you picked a great profession! Although not so great now in my district with all of the layoffs.
*grin* I am just shy of being a "boomer" myself, Lynxxx! a couple more years before most currently employed teachers are willing to retire, I think.
thanks min
sorry, got distracted. Hi Lynxxx!
yeah, us boomers are itching to retire, unfortunately, there may not be much for pensions the way things are going.
hi Dawg
yes min, i finally finished this beastly grid
Congrats Dawg - it is a bit of a beast
Congratulations lbdawger on finishing! Good for you!
ty. if it weren't for the cluers i'd probably still be wracking my measly brain!
if i disappear again, it may be due to thunder storm.
oops. sorry I got distracted...
YAY lynXXX~
and now to have supper. down to 83. See you-all tomorrow!!! *poof*
night, stiddy!

Good Evening Everybody. How are you tonight? And How is the grid? (I've already started -about 10 minutes ago-; so don't tell me it's too tough!)
hi nef it's not an easy one that's for sure but it's doable
thanks, wild. :-) I just got NBT!
yay!
I have 5 left but I've been in and out all day

yw
Congrats wildcat!!!!!
ty
any more clues?
vi7-52 please....thanks
I have no clue what I need yet; but maybe clue the 8 and a 7 and I'll have NBS too?
id8/45
2 al7
vi7/52 = one who has been granted a pass to other countries, past tense.
Thanks much, Jacula.
Got the 8! Thanks, Wild!~
gap, y/w
yw
wild - id8/45 is a person who wants or sees only the best in/of the world.
hello jacsd! I get a vi 6/30 past tense
I already got the 8, Jac; wild finished already and was giving me a clue
Hi TO. Long time, no see.
How are you?
ditto. i am haning in, and you?
Oh, okay Nef.
off to do something about dinner. *poof*
I'm gardening - it's the time, To.
thanks for the help, wild!
i;ll take that vi 7 clue, i see the 6 with that definition
i am as well but am holding off, will be 100 on hursday, huddling my pots in the shade until it cools off.
Not so warm here in UK, TO.
second het wave of the season begins tomorrow
this past weekend was the first time anyone could even get in their gardens around here (I think). THe weather has been cold and rainy for so long....
I'm pleased that we are getting intermittent nights of rain - it makes my clay soil so much more friable, and much eaiser to dig weeds etc., out.
vi 7 - bridge train goes over - vi + 1st vowel + du 4/7
ihave all clay, extended a bed just a foot and my back is sore from the digging.
My tomato plants are doing well, and even the new runner bean strain of plants are putting on some growth. The old strain would have been at the top of the canes and tangling themselves together by now.
are there 2 vi7?
TO - you need to add lots of composted material and grit. DSo that over a number of years, plus adding leaf mould, and it starts to become friable.
jacs, i have two mini roma tomato plants, not what they told me they were but i am stuck with them. intersting but two are not enough
3 vi 6 - but only one vi 7
ty teach
No, only one vi7 - the thing that passes over water.
google them, grape size but roma taste and thin skin
(Roman thing.)
suitable for sauce but one would need tons
TO - if you want tons of tomatoes, Google Ildi. It's a yellow fruit.
not tons, just romas enogh for mozz & basil salad. don't like them for anything else
i have NO l words from last column]
TO - here's a pic of just one truss off Ildi http://tinyurl.com/5wrdxna
To - you just typed one 'l' word from the final column.
i have that word an alas still white box
Then there's la4.5 - sounds like what you did when you lay down on your bed.
la5/12 - soup spoon.
jacs they are grape tomatoes as well? nice looking, yellow ones are generally lower acid
le4/5 - heavy metal.
TO - yes. Try to find the seeds there. If not, I'll send you some.
i do beleive i have seen them. ty jacs
i need to go to ed, i'llnot finish tonight
hi
Hello Herin.x
How you?
HI Jac
Busy but well. And you?
I have to go out in this horrid cold weather
Hi Herin.
HI Nef
why do you need to go out?
Pay bills, interview, errr stuff. Mostly 10 min worth of stuff
And to buy new shoes for b.f as he got paid today and he needs new work shoes
It's been so rainy and cold here (for summer) that this weekend was Heaven. Today and tomorrow, however, they are giving heat index warnings (95 F today
I did see some of my USA friends had snow
really? Where?
Colorodo.
opps Colorado.
Must be high up in the mountains
I'm missing my daughter, whose latest travels have had her in Oz, Taz, and Bali, and now back in Oz. She's off to Canada soon, first to stay with relatives, then with friends and then with relatives again before she comes back home. But she wants to go back to Oz and stay there. I knew she would and I'm gutted.
Nef not really
Jac immigrate here too
Herin - not my sort of place. I'd prefer NZ or Taz.
clues for co 6/24 (last one) please
But I love GB! I don't really want to leave.
wvteach - the main acting part with another in a film.
Taz is nice
(Not co-star!)
co 6/24 is co plus anagagram of a Kinks song wvteach
jacula - i have that one min - what is Kinks
Hi Mini
Oh last co6! That is a fruit or veg pouring sauce.
wvteach - you have never heard of The Kinks?
Actually, it wasn't The Kinks it was The Kingsmen who is a group with a song which repeated it's own name.
sorry - i haven't but just googled them and saw that there was a list of more than 600 songs
http://tinyurl.com/namx6e
O poo I think I crashed google
it still works for my Herin
Babble friends - just learned earlier tonight that my partner's best buddy, a guy he's known for over fifty years, died April 28. Sudden heart attack - he was a firefighter and a Vietnam vet. Very sad...
clue for the first ac5/14 pls
Sorry to hear that, sue.
sorry sue
ac 5/14 is a plus it is very co** in the winter suefrad.
ty min
Blressings Sue.
Thx - he is pretty shredded.
yw
Understandably so Sue.
sorry to hear that sue; It must be tough for your partner.
eight words & I need to break down and ask for clues
ild
Oops!
I knew him too, back when we were young, but hadn't seen him in over 40 years (long story for another time)
did your partner find out back when his friend passed away; or did he just find out too?
how can he be a best buddy and they not see each other for 40 years? I don't get it
Does anyone have a clue for the ai 5/10 word please?
a walkway in the movie theater minver
Actually, I need that first ai 5/10 word if you have it.
sick.. past tense
Min - French garlic mayo dressing. Sounds like it should be about the lungs and breathing.
No,he just found out tonight - realized he hadn't heard from his friend for a while - he lived in FL and we are in IL - tried to call and got his friends sister.
Never mind!My monkeys finally found the ai5/10 word
Not hearing from a best friend for 10, 20, 30 or even 40 years just happens as life goes on its way for both of you. It doesn't mean the connection is not still there.
Ruru, my partner and his friend have been in touch all along. But my partner and I were apart for 40 years. We dated in high school and just got back together about 3 years ago.
I would think that after 40 years.. you'd be acquaintances and not best friends.
that's really cool uu.. nice story
Sue are you saying that you are now with your high school sweetheart after all this time?
If I didn't hear from my best friend for 10 years; it would be hard to still call that person a best friend. Uusue is the one who knew the guy 40 years ago; it's her partner that was the best friend
*buys prom dress for UU*
oh.. got it.. sorry I misunderstood the chat
So the two of them really were close. And yes, herein, you have it right.
Can I have a clue for 2nd to la4/4 co5/16 word please
Awwwwwwwwwwwww
second co 5/26 is to be able to do something he co* do it
Sorry I have a complicated life, and am typing on my phone to boot...
My heart just sunk. There was this couple I went to school with were together for errr longer than 15 years just found out they broke up a while back but he is now dating someone else.
I have that co5/16 word, I need the co5/16 before it
the other co 5/16 is co + half of a surfer d***

the two sound alike

de 6 - 2/3 of previous de 4/5 + 2/3 of si 4/4
first de 6 rhymes with well known pimple medicine, min
1st de6 starts the same way as the two words before it, then ends in ***ver (the color of my hair :-)
hi wv and sue and good night
Thank you for the de 6/21 clue. I just found the word
hi all - still the last last co 6 - don't get the clue about a fruit sauce
I am done! I have fireworks! de6/21 was my last word
congrats min
I can stay for 10 more minutes to help out with clues.
congrats min!
I see that there's no icon theme for tomorrow.Guess I'll have to go with another celebrity birthday again.
Thanks NonnieLight! And thanks uusue2 for your clue
yw :-)
cu 6 please
last co6 has the same 1st 4 letters as the previous word, then ends with the singular form of "are"
cu - type of weapon
cu 6/33:what cows chew on plus sticky stuff to style hair NonnieLight.
thnx sue and min - finally got it

Goodbye uusue2! I will see you tomorrow in the chog.
Hello mrpresident! How are you doing?Welcome to grid
Think my intent right now should be to goto bed soon
hi min!! get some sleep darling
Goodnight to my fellow babblers! I'll see you tomorrow
niters min
all alone??
i need to get my limepuss back
not alone, but i'm only about 1/3 here :)
hi jes **hugs**
26 left and keeping an eye on law & order too
oh, and my daughter A++ her english paper.... topped her whole year!!
I think her dreams of becoming a journalist are well on the way
good on her! :)
hi mrp and jes. I was here and wandered off, now back again
hi nef! **hugs**
how are you doing, mrp? holding together okay?
starting to fall apart nef... scared of operation on Thursday
but, have valium and psychologist to see tomorrow.
I'm still keeping you in my prayers and sending healing thoughts your way.
yay for valium! :)
then having my hair washed and dried and going out to tapas and wine with lickety tomorrow... keep myself busy with a lunch with a friend somewhere in the middle of all that
valium works well if you need it!!
Thursday is a big day for me too; I'm seeing an allergist and then having a cortisone injection into my bad hip. I'm worrying that my allergies will cause problems with my hip replacement
LOL! Valium is NOT a good drug for me! I'm glad it's helping you! :-)
i've never actually taken it...
seems to do good things for bruce at dentists visits
I haven't either; but I don't do well with any CNS depressant drugs (ie: narcotics, anesthesia, pain meds, etc)
Good evening, I need help on the last co6/24, please?
and that includes alcohol. I get too drugged too fast
do you have the co 5/16 before it, Marc?
yes
It starts with the same first 4 letters, then add the singular of "are"
thanks got it
yw
hi marc
hey all!
oh jes, can I ask you a doggie-related question or are you "done" for the day?
hi stid. How are you?
go for it, stid
((((NEF)))) I am done. I slept ALL day Saturday (really -- woke up for breakfast lunch and dinner only!), and now good to go again!
That's good to hear, stid! You really needed that rest!
okay, Lucky impaled himself on a dead blackberry vine Sunday going after a toy. It went in his mouth and stuck in the back of his throat. I had to pull it out with my hand. Today he is "owie" whenever he tries to eat (so I gave him canned salmon - dog food). I think I got the whole thorn and stick out. BUT should I worry if he doesn't feel all better by tomorrow evening?
he doesn't seem to be bleeding, btw
Oh, MAN, Stid! THAT sounds awful!
there was a good bit of bleeding, of course -- wasn't sure at first if it was mine or his! LOL he bit down a couple times when I was trying to help him. (I am fine, however, no worries)
he's such a good boy. I just hate it when he doesn't eat, though because he doesn't carry any extra weight
concerns would be infection and puncture through the wall of the throat
he definitely had a thorn in the throat, but at the back end near where the epiglottis would be in a human
signs of infection hot dry nose?
sorry; watching penn and teller and distracted
epiglottis or uvula, stid?
that's okay -- WAY more entertaining than dog ick... LOL uvula -- thanks Nef
watch for swelling in the lower throat--fluid accumulation
watch for swelling in the lower throat--fluid accumulation
okay, I can do that.
if there's air leaking through a puncture, you may notice a crackly feel/sound when you put pressure on the skin on the back of the neck
that's an emergency
epiglottis would be very serious, stid; that's what closes the airway off when we swallow
okay, I don't think that's the case, but will check again
a dog's nose being warmer than your hand is just normal, doesn't mean a fever. normal temperature is 101. get a thermometer and take his temperature, that's the most reliable way to know if he's got a fever
anything over 103 is a fever
it's not the epiglottis -- wrong side of the throat
normal is 101, fever at 103. Okay *wonders where dog thermometer is hiding*
that crackly feeling is like the bubble pkg wrapping under the skin
that crackly bit sounds like it would be pretty obvious, yes?
not always, but it's definitely weird. (I'm not sure what it would feel like under a dog's fur)
ewwww. my skin is crawling just thinking about crackly fur-covered bubble wrap.... *shudder*
I *think* that that is a rectal temp too, stid
feels like ... crinkly, you can hear it as well as feel it. like rice crispies sounds :)
yes, it has to be rectal with dogs. I have to hold him up by the tummy or he'll be dangerous.
and yes, rectal--oral temp attempts usually result in the dog chewing up the thermometer
I might just go ahead and take him in tomorrow evening if he is still acting like he's afraid and jittery. Even if his temp is okay. Better safe than sorry. He's my baby now that the boys are so big....

Oh! LOL last week for the concert at the boys' school stidkid #2 came into the living room and said, "Mom, I think my jacket (tux) shrank" -- NOPE. after two years at one size, he started growing again! *groan*
Don't worry; it's really scary under a person's skin! It sounds like someone playing with the cellophane that is (or used to be?) around a cigarette pkg. (I don't smoke, but that was how it was described to me and that is the best description I've ever heard)
I never smoked, but I know that sound well.
good description, nef
how old is stidkid#2, now?
well, I don't say the kids' ages in the log... but he's old enough to drive -- if he ever earns that right! LOL
Hello Babble Friends, am I seeing things or is this yesterday's puzzle?????
thanks so much jes -- I was going to call the vet in the morning if I hadn't seen you, but I would have worried all night. I will check his temp and not worry if it's normal (pretty sure it is) and then call in the morning and make an appointment for him later in the day.
hey gardner -- another 40 minutes to flip
did you refresh your page? THis is a new puzzle to me
Thank you, I would hate to think I was losing me mind'
glad to help, stid
and stidkid #1 is graduating from high school next week!
well, not losing your mind about this... LOL no guarantees about anything else! (at least that is how I am feeling today -- individually things are in order, but collectively is another matter for me)
Oh dear! I need to be in bed and asleep! (next 2 days are going to be long and hard) Stid; the boys are growing up too fast!
((Nef)) sweet dreams. See you again soon!
sleep sweet, nef
I will be online again daily for a few months! :-D
Good Night All! Happy Babbling!
ah! got the 8!
yay stid!
okay, it's time for me to figure out what I am doing tomorrow for the lesson I volunteered to teach. Back tomorrow to play again!!!! ((((jes)))) thanks again. I owe you SO MUCH. *piles choclits at Jes' feet*
see you-all soon!!! *poof*
fireworks finally!! lot's of weirdo words!
(YAY mrp) *repoof*
