wtg melon -- and ty, but that was a loooong time ago!
congrats jilli
thks pug and hi!
hi dear
any clues needed?
ugh too brain dead to finish but thanks
I followed your lead jilli; here's me no so long ago.
gorgeous, melon!
good nite all & happy babbling
gnight pug -- did you finish?
no 9 left
too tired to care
tx jilli. I usually don't wear so much makeup - too much troupble.
I know what you mean, pug!
nitey nite
I'm back - for a bit anyway
wtg jilli, congratulations
haha flosey -- thought you would be!
thx -- had to go to morewords for some of the weird and useless ones
too early I guess, just can't sleep this early in spite of aching and being very tired
aha, got another 7, ma6 and 7
hi, flosey, it's almost 3 am here, but I'm up achy, too.
that's ma6lous
indeed, jilli
and sorry melon
doesn't some Tylenol (or generic) help? It does forme.
flosey -- lovely sunset picture
s'OK. I have fibromyalgia and if I overdo it, I pay. Substitute taught Mon and Tues, then cooked a huge meal for friends tuesday night, stuffed shells with tiramisu for dessert, all from scratch. All worth it :)
My mum has fybro, melon... I feel for you :( /hug
oh, sounds lovely, I do love tiramisu
Sounds yummy, melon!
hello MissO
tx MissO. jilli & flosey, it was yummy. My own recipe—well, I never make it twice the same, but this one was esp nice. I also made coconut chicken soup for lunch today, but that was easy since I started with baxed broth. I like to cook, and I love it when people eat my cooking.
boxed!
the soup sounds great too melon, I like almost anything coconut
sorry about thety4s - my other spcialty ;)
I'm about to make a whole lot of chicken stock, from the bones of several supermarket bbq birds.
I love coconut. The canned milk goes bad once you open it, and it is fattening, so I freeze it in ice cube trays to have a little bit at a time to add to curries, puddings, etc.
bbq stock - wow!
speaking of pudding, here's another phantom - tapioca
it's tasty -- very little bbq flavour left, though.
I make a carrot soup with coconut milk, chicken broth, cardamom, etc
mmmmm!
the best people are on babble -we are such an interesting compatible bunch!
I make that orange-asparagus bisque with coconut milk instead of cream, and freeze it. So easy and good.
I love picking up recipes
nice!
that sounds interesting jilli, must ask for your recipe
I thought I'd sent it to you, flosey, but will anyway.
I make a quick and easy ice cream using the frozen pina colada mix and a can of coconut milk - tossed into the ice cream maker and ready for dessert
oh, I don't remember jilli
checked my recipe file, not there
one of the tr7s is easy if you're a D Detroit Tigers fan from a few years back...

one of the tr7s is easy if you're a Detroit Tigers fan from a few years back...
Already emailed, flosey.
melon, you hit the hiccup!
is that the first tr7/32?
thanks jilli
I always thought the tr6 (&7) had a dbl cons in the middle. Phooey on enable.
only if you're a Detroit Tigers fan, jilli ;)
I see it has no dictionary definition
Alan - shortstop - double the two consonants that would be adjacent in the alphabet.
oh, and jilli, that dress... hot stuff!
went to a house party Saturday night - pot luck supper and watch the game - ONE friend arrived sporting the WRONG shirt!!
Oh sin, flosey!
melon, I loved that dress -- a gift from hubby!!!
What a gift; he knew what looked good on you!
all the 7s, nbt, and > halfway - mediocrity attained!
It was knitted with glittering gold yarn, could be scrunched into a small space for packing with no crushing. Had to wear a silky "underdress" though.
looks lovely jilli
Ah, them were the daze...
maybe that's why I thought you had been blonde - think we've seen the pic before
Yes, you have.
you'd have suited blonde hair too
I'll scan some other old pix when I get my new all-in-one printer (and get it hooked up).
I don't have any recent pix since the babble gathering that August.
If I could figure out how the camera on my laptop works I'd take some of me.
Any clues needed? I need my bed pretty soon...
not getting the third tr7
me, too. it was fun. nite, all. {pouf!}
3rd tr - hat
night melon
think manuel da falla
gnight, gorgeous!
I came back for flossey, but no w I musts. And tx, jilli!
thanks melon, working on it
tr7 -- old-style pirate kind of hat -- cryptically, three ears ;-)
gotta go to bed!
thanks melon and jilli, still can't get it, better just go back to bed
Did you get that clue, flosey?
Oh, I see...
ahahaha, just got it
Well, I'm off too then -- goodnight and *poof
was trying to make it 8 letters!! duh
Oh -- that's great!
so, goodnight all, once again

my bio has details of the op, but am drugged to the eyeballs so if my typing doesn't make sense... sorry in advance
so happy for you, mrp!!!!

things have progressed...when I had the op you just did, I was sick for a week...they do thing differently now..yes..the wonderful morphine..I remember it well
and some other little trick they gave me .... but remember kiddies, only for people who really need it for pain.
For the pain ONLY, of course
did you have nasty general aneasthetic?
Yes, I would not go any other way
too right... can't imagine being awake with a spinal block for any of what I had done...
and you feeling good darling??
mrp, I have the op 30 years ago..that was why I was comparing...I was practically comatose for 2 days..that is why I am marvelling at you...champagne toast to you, mrp!

Hi Bichon :0)

Maryte...the stats are the first two letters of the word, how many letter it is and how many points it's worth. Thus, le4/7 is a four letter word that starts with le that is worth 7 points.

Hello Diane. I have never had it;
Hi Mark :-)

Mark, did you get my clue at 9:20? am not poofing until you have vi6
Those were my last year birthday roses.. :-))
wow, they are lovely, diane
I did, but I wanted my friend Anole to get it from you.
Sego is like tapioca only much bigger... have to soak it overnight... we call it "fish eye" pudding !!
lol, ok!
I have it, and I got it when you gave the clue. I just didn't know how to clue it.
don't like tapioca pudding because of the lumps and the idea of fish eye pudding sounds awful
hi all

But, as that year wore on, Dora was not strong. I had hoped that lighter hands than mine would help to mold her character, and that a baby-smile upon her breast might turn my child-wife into a woman. It was not to be. The spirit fluttered for a moment on the threshold of its little prison, and, unconscious of captivity, took wing....this is your tidbit of the day.it has to be the most eloquent way of phrasing this time of loss that i have ever read in my life..and good morning everyone
cross my dear, thanks for that cheery image to start my day. I am grumpy because required to be at the college to do paperwork rather than at school teaching kids!!!! *grumpy mama look*
Hello stid, crossy!
hey Mark! wasn't sure you'd still be online! :-D
i am sorry stidmama,i was not trying for gloomy ,just to share the beauty of words

hi, all!

Sorry!PB for me;
*puts choclits in PB*
haven't been able to get any lawyers to call me back (small town so no big law offices) so no order of protection yet, sigh
and we had a lot of rain and there is a leak in the roof
DID U GET MY CLUE J?
it has made playing some of the fb games much easier though:))
bummer on the roof.
Thanks stid. Abigail, stop yelling at me.
sue, temporary orders can be issued by police in some areas
order of protection from what uu?
it's not a big leak but any water coming into my house other than through pipes is irritating
also, be clear if you want a protection order or restraining order -- they do different things.
sorry j
i am sorry sue..is there some grief in your life atm that i have missed whist prattling on like i do?
my son's gf - she came in and trashed his room yesterday including smashing the door jamb (he'd locked the door to keep her out and she broke it to get in)
I do not want her anywhere near my house
hey ruru
so she is treesspassing on your home and destruction of private property..she best be careful
I think it's a restraining order - just so she keeps away
since I don't know the way things work in your state, have you called the state DV hotline? They can advise you, and help you find a lawyer too (likely)
have her arrested by the police
haven't tried that yet, stid, and my son doesn't want to get the police involved (they started dating when he was 18 and she was 16, 3 years ago, and she's threated to charge him with statutory rape)
agree -- at least file the report with them, as ruru says
she damaged your property. Report it, and then decide if you want to prosecute.
at4/5
We reported a hoodlum in our neighborhood a couple times. Just having the police visit the house to investigate got the parents' attention and the issues stopped.
she also broke his glasses a couple of weeks ago but I don't have them so no proof
was he dumb enough to have relations with her being a minor?
he was although she is no longer a minor
(and the age difference is small, 2 years, although the law doesn't care)
help on the Y for NBT?
ma4/6
i agree ,always file a report, even if no charges are to be laid
oh boy that really complicates it.
sigh
actually sue the law MIGHT care if they were both minors when the relationship began. In our state a difference of less than 2 years is important
yes so they have a foundation of info
yi double consonant Stid
check your state's laws. Most states have them online. In my state the state registrar
ma4/5
registrar's (legislative) website has links to the laws.

i'm researching cabbage recipes to cook for lunch and use up some chopped cabbage, and had this open too
and the crazy kid wants to go back to school today...
school's still in session for several more weeks here
when I have left over cabbage...I chop it up and saute it with onions and butter, then add some egg noodles, salt and pepper....makes a great side dish
howdy, wild
i'm leaning toward a curry of it with carrots and onions, though that sounds good too.
he is done on the 21st but you would think he wouldnt want to go back today....
hi hi

Hi Crossy
yesterday was 90f and we have twisters here and there in the area

How old Seain
howdy hego
13 months and on the verge of walking
Walking is the end of everything. lol
hi, hego and crossy
Keep your head down Crossy!!
LOL hego. Yes, we shall see how that goes. She's very mobile as is, but will have consistently higher reach once walking
dc, how did u become a nanny??

congrats, science
Bye for now. bbl
lucky for the friend though
be well, hego
indeed, though it has been fun
and what do you think of nanning??
often fun, sometimes tedious, and in the end very rewarding :)
I love your answer. I took care of my grandson from birth to his 3rd birthday, and I don't think I could have done anything more important.

hi all
the last four letters are also a word in themselves...
hi, peri!
hi peri
do you have the op5/14, lbuxx? The ap7/40 and ph6/27 end the same way (the op5/14 has to do with eyes)

*ding, ding* molly. ;)
finally got it..
Eva! I read that some of the subway cars have no air conditioning. I hope one of them is not yours.
yesterdays was questionable, but i havent had a "hot car" yet...
I think I would pass out. I find subway cars stuffy when the air is working.
i have taken to riding in the front car because it is far less crowded. it sometimes means i miss the first shuttle out of the station, but i would rather stand there waiting for 5 minutes than be stuffed in a cramped train car for a half hour.
Sounds like a good plan.
sorry i went away and didn't ding!
We were ding-less without you
but i am dingy enough for all
hi all
it was cause my coworker's husband stopped by - she's out of intensive care!
noswaith dda - good evening
co 5/12 ??
dingless? wheres crossy with an inappropriate comment??
lol
i have been dingless for so long i forgot what one looks like
Actually, it would be Ruru I would expect a comment from about ding-less.
will that work eva? lol
silly, i believe is the word you're looking for, sammysmom
*rows in* Did someone say dinghy??
<----- Thinks dings are highly over rated.
yes they are
brb
<---- Wishes NB was here for this conversation. Miss you buddy.
sometimes dings are useful for getting people's attention...
rave
darn it
They certainly get the attention of the ding owners they are attached to.
I think they take most of their attention and make it difficult for ding owners to think of other things
That's okay Glant, I thought you were ra4ing about dings.
don't think I've ever ra4ed about dings!
per se
Me either.
hi again, all!
Hi Sue
getting dingy, are we?
I'm not - I've never had ding envy LOL
lol, glant! (me either :-)
What's to be envious of?
have i started a ding-dong riot?
possibly ;-)
half way
i asked old walter when a man stops thinking about his ding and he says he doesn t know. he is almost 85
but can't get NBT
Where is the spirit Chuck Berry? I think a chorus of "My Ding-A-Ling" is in order.
ding dong the witch is dead the wicked witch, the mean old witch ding dong the wicked witch is dead!
Ding dong merrily on high.....
I think they stop thinking about their dings when their dings stop donging.
well, my dad (who is 90) told me when I was with him earlier this year that the older he gets the younger a woman would need to be (not something I wanted to hear from my dad, exactly, but I figure when you are 90 you can be excused for a lot of things :-)
Hello Babblers! How are y'all doing?
lol, mark, read back in the chog and you can get an idea :-)
This conversation brings a whole new meaning to "Ding Dong! Avon calling!"
hi all aback after a crappy day at work
This segment brought to you by Rep. Anthony Weiner - the weiner tweeter, uh ding tweeter...
i think you are all in a fruity mood today
Sounds crazy.
I've been reading a really good book - The warmth of your heart prevents your body from rusting - by Marie de henezel - and she has a chapter on sex and sensuality amongst the over 75s.
i did some of this grid this morning - is it as hard as it felt then
did i miss a clue for ther co 5 /12?
It's worth a read Sue.
well hey, po4 is in the grid
Sorry you had a hard day at work Kazzer, and yes it is as hard as it felt this morning
is it july 31st yet?
no but the heat feels like it...
don;t wish your life away jmc
i have 45 i might finish tonight but i doubt it - off to he gym soon to be gentle to my back and leg - sciatica

I know how you feel, jmc. Our school is just finishing, and it has been a long hard year.
you've got heat, Hurshy? There;s ablooming cold wind here in north Wales
sue i gots nothin on the co5/12
i'm not really in the UK - just a wannabe.
its not so warm in the southwest - feels more like autunm than summer
bummer, jmc! too bad that your last few weeks couldn't have been more positive {{{{{{{{{{{jmc}}}}}}}}}}}
molly just clued it lbu
I just clued the co 5/12
oh I forgot Hurshy - I think you've tod me befoe
and thx for the co, molly! my brain is only slightly functional at the moment...
*Passes an icy cold beer to JMC*
my laptop keyboard is getting very temperamental and missing letters - and it's only 6 months old
is it still under warranty, glant?
yes it must be - a year i think =- but maybe it's just dirt - I'll have to have a look when i get home
for the record, i totally ended up NOT going to my running class last night. i just about melted walking home from the shuttle stop, so i couldnt even fathom running (or walking) for an hour in that heat.
started with but now some other letters are intermittent too
any clues forthe l please
Has anyone heard from Mr. P today? How did her surgery go?
phantom aphotic

ahh thank you molly!
Good call about your class Eva. It's heat stroke weather out there.
she was on earlier, judi, and things went well.
Very cold here where I am. It was blazing yesterday, but it rained and then cooled down. 40 degrees!
wow, mark! it cooled down here too but is still 65 degrees (and really muggy)
Thanks, uusue. I was thinking of her.
but then I would expect things to be cold in Andromeda, especially if you are in interstellar space :-)
MrP was on earlier and very stoned
lots of good drugs she said
any clue for the ar6?
My hubby's away in Maryland on business, staying overnight in a hotel. He complained how hot it was last night. I asked him, "Does the hotel have a pool?". He just blinked at me. Which means he never even thought of that. Men.
ar6 is Spanish for gulch (usually a dry one)
judi, she was on around 7:30 this morning if you want to look back in the archive
thanks Sue for the clue
ty Sue - the Spanish words always catch me out because we never hear them here
yw :-) (I lived in New Mexico for a while so picked up quite a bit of random vocabulary)
Judi! Ahahahaha!
can some one giveme the stats for the y please
yi4/6
yi4,6
ta sue - nbt at last with 33 left
rhymes with whirr Kazzer
yay, kazz!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
nice to have a spanish word to balance all the Scots..... :-)
I don't get the Scots word either LOL
many of them seem to be archaic - weird dictionary.
scots word?
oh - the one for bigger then perhaps
scots words - dodgy keyboard not typing every letter
and the hat/drum?
I looked up the definition of yi4/6 and it says it is scottish (involving dog growls)
not sure I have either of those Kazzer!
off to lok at the list
there is a ma and a ta
i have the ma
what cell phone/plan do you have and do you like the plan?
Hi Peri
that question was directedp everyone
to everyone even
I have Verizon, Peri. Largest network, best coverage. Don't get any of the cheapo phones, though.
peri, I have an HTC Inspire with AT&T; three of us are on a family plan (I like the rollover minutes). We have 1400 minutes/month, unlimited texting, and 2 of the smartphones are on a 2 Gb/month plan while the other one is on a 200 Mb/month plan
the whole thing is not cheap but I am happy with the service and I LOVE the phone
I have had extremely bad experiences with Verizon and would never use them again (but ymmv)
I don't send or receive texts, so I only pay about $35.00 per month. Will get texting when I get new IPHone in August.
and now i must leave you all and head to work, but before i go,i give you crossy,s tidbit of the day!!....
A 17th century children’s game called “dibstones†was similar to what we call “jacks†today, only back then sheep’s knuckles were used instead of little metal gizmos.
thx for the image (I think...), and hi and bye, crossy!
tc everyone and happy babbling....poink!
It went back way before the C17th Crossy
bye Crossy
i currently have Verizon and i have a pretty much unlimited plan (unlimited minutes, unlimited internet, unlimited texting). i have never had a problem with the company, and my service is great. added bonus, they are the only provider who gets good service inside my office building. :)
AT&T recently revamped their family texting plan.. it now includes unlimited mobile to mobile minutes. We have a fam plan so I was able to lower my minutes since everyone pretty much has a cell.
ty
ma5/18?
Sounds like the first name of Crockett, American pioneer.
ty
thx, mollly!
ty Molly - hard to believe it's a ord
*word, even
You could say that about SO many of the words in these grids.
<----- drove her mother crazy singing the Crockett song, lo these many years ago
One of my kids used to sing "King of the wild front door"
NBT at last - 11 left
lol, Moly!
Frontier means nothing to a 3 year old. : D
clue for the lower right R please
oh, the things i used to say wrong...
NM
i used to say "war war one" and "war war two"
Makes makes sense to me me.
i had to explain to a friend once that the phrase wasnt "minus well" -- that it was "might as well"
*fireflies*
yay, glant!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
yahooooooooo glant
anybody want a clue before i go to dinner?
i once used the phrase "for all intensive purposes" in print. i'm so ashamed. :)
lol, leslie!
how bout the sm7,32.. can I get a clue?
leslie -- i only learned a few years ago that thats not what it is!
If Haz was here, she'd faint at our grammatical faux pas.
why lbu, you are such a sm7
When I was little, there was a Japanese actor named Sessue Hayakawa. (Bridge On The River Kwai). I used to say "Sessue" for thank you, and the people in my family said "Hayakawa" for your welcome.
do you have small round flat chocolate sweets in a candy shell which come in a tube?
all different colours?
add two vowels to the sm5/12, lbuxx
they are a brand name here
extend the sm5
variant sp of sm**** pants
we don't really get them here, glant (I've lived in Europe so know what they are)
glan -- here, they arent covered on chocolate...
seriously, i want some of the chocolate ones!
they are nice - especially the blue ones!
leslie, i think theirs are a little closer to our M&Ms...sorta.... but not like our SM7s covered on chocolate...
Nom nom nom! Sounds good, Glant. Share!
true, eva, there is a candy here with the same name that is little disks of what is essentially pure sugar (with a bit of color and flavor)
ah. i was thinking necco wafers anyway, not sm7s
the european ones are very similar to M&Ms
http://canadiandgal.blogspot.com/2010/ 08/rockets-vs-smarties.html
M & Ms are bigger and crunchier
oh.. got it.. yeah here they are sugar candy
Neco wafers suck!
yeah, the "disgusting" ones in that photo are what I was trying to describe (and I think glant might belong in the PB for that url...)
i much prefer british candy to american candy. i just think the combinations are much more interesting. except for snickers. i will still keep my snickers, thankyou. :)
Oh the heated discussions I had with my Canadian husband about sm7s and rockets.
night all - off to dinner - have fun babbling
judi i know your profile note about your new adoptee is about the cat, but i think it's funnier to consider it mr. bill
Snickers is the perfect candy bar, Eva.
so true, judi. i could eat it for dinner...heh
I can't believe they still sell Necco Wafers. They are the most choke-able candy there is.
Mmm. Snickers pizza.
Clue for Ap7, please?
ap + not cold + first part of frozen water
Ty, Molly.
clue for pt6?
p + small child + first part of frozen water
another cell phone question. What is a good monthly price for one person including some texting? looks like I will have to stay with AT& T cause that is what my sister will have. I am currently on her plan
ty molly.
gee I remember Necco wafers.
Firewords!
congrats Judi.
I think $50 - $60 is about what you can expect to pay,, Peri.
ty Judi
ta5,12 anyone?
It's cheaper to stay on you sister's plan. Also check with your work, or insurance, some may offer discounts.
ta + between a ***k and a hard place.
other ta5 is an animal resembling swine.
I thought Ta5's were more like giant rats.
no, I've seen one in the wild and they are very pricine
from dictionary .com
any of several large, stout, three-toed ungulates of the family Tapiridae, of Central and South America, the Malay Peninsula, and Sumatra, somewhat resembling swine and having a long, flexible snout: all species are threatened or endangered.
In Belize
i've seen them in a zoo.
ar6,24?
ar + *** Rogers, cowboy married to Dale Evans, + vowel
hello everybody
ty molly. I used to watch *** and Silver.
are you all recovered, bichon?
*Passes Ruby a nice, cold martini*

congrats, you two!
whoo hooo mixi
and yay, lbuxx and mixi!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
whoo hooo lbuxx
I'm doing well ruby. My kitchen looks like a kitchen today instead of a construction zone.
thanks! anyone need clues while I'm here?
hi jmc
:-)
All the elitists around here have that kind of countertops.
but you still have to eat in restaurants, right?
nice, mixi!
yes, I still don't have a stove!!
well, molly, mine are plywood, sigh
my kitchen is about to look like a construction zone and not a kitchen
what are people's thoughts on counter tops?
i haven't figured that out yet
when we remodeled the kitchen, I went to the stoneyard with a cabinet door to pick the granite. I thought I'd be doing a lot of baking (at least that's what I told my husband)
I love the granite -- beautiful and easy to clean
there are some really nice ones made from recycled glass pieces, jmc - let me see if I can find a link
but the stainless backsplash was a big mistake
pt please
impossible to keep clean
here's one, jmc: http://www.vetrazzo.com/eng
I think stainless anything is a big mistake. It's a fingerprint magnet.
p + small child + first part of frozen water
or any speck of water but the kitchen is beautiful!
thanks molly
here's another: http://www.icestone.biz/
if I can ever afford countertops that's what I would like (not a particular brand but that type)
the pt means a drooping eyelid.. if that helps any
that sounds like it would be beautiful
good night everybody
Those are nice Sue
night, ruby!

I want to get off of my sister's plan
do yu have an i phone West?
I have had this att phone for at leasst 4 years. it is a basic phone with a basic plan
yes I do peri it's a 3g hubby has the 4g and so does our son
they're so cheap now
define cheap
I bought him the first iPhone and paid (gasp) $600 for it
I saw last years model of the iphone for $49.00
I think the new ones are $99
that's even better
yikes $600!!
You don't need all the bells and whistles
my husband and son are real fanatics have to have everything right away
I get the leftovers lol
there are an awful lot of choices, peri, and it can be very confusing!
my sister got a headache too and did not buy a new phone either.
if you are already on AT&T it wouls be a snap to change over to an iPhone
*would
might do that west
back
bet you never noticed i was gone :-)
hi, jmc!
I did too!!!!!!!!!!
I've been with AT&T since they took over Cingular. I liked Cingular
I was gone too and just got back, so I did not notice
hi jmc good sleep and ready to slay dragons?
i use verizon because they have better phone coverage
in what way, jmc?
hi west. no too busy dodging flames
A is getting better
bummer, jmc :-(
there are lots of places where phones other than verizon won't get a signal--but it mainly better in the eastern seaboard corridor
yeah this week has totally sucked
i did get a half-hearted apology at least
we have verizon for our land line, TV and computer FIOS
we do too, west
who was messing with our jmc?
i have clear for my land line and internet for and travel internet for $100 per month
Afternoon All

Uh oh!
not good shall we sort her out?
i am still glad she got the job and think she will do a great job but this transition is way more rocky than i would have hoped
when is the transition?
JMC can handle it. ;-)
you bet !!
*imagining the babblers with capes streaming flying and taking on successor girl*
not soon enough at this rate
lol
maybe you need to introduce her to babble
Good idea!
july 31 is my last day but i will be out of the office from the 25th on
NO! Where would I be able to come and bitch?
any travel plans?
Ah yes, there's that.
*nails boards across the chog doors*
lol
Don't worry Je
this weekend i am taking my staff to a retreat at Knoebels in mid-PA
Knoebels?
first week in july i am driving to Grinnel for a week long quaker meeting
www.knoebels.com
I like PA
both sound nice and relaxing
Grinnel, never heard of these places, I like PA too. I live there :)
:-)
Grinnell, Iowa?
then i am giving a sermon at a mennonite church and finishing up my stay in iowa meeting the iowan poet lauriete (?)
Hi Sue
oh peri you should really go to Knoebels
yes Grinnell, Iowa
cool! I have a nephew who is a student there
I'm Googling Knoebels
really?I will check it out, brb
also you may be driving right by me on your way...
then at the end of july i am going to Ohio to an international quaker org meeting (with those kenyans i hung out with last year)
uu how close are you to grinnell?
maybe I could swing by on the way back
Ah, an amusement resort!
then a week in western maryland and finish up my quaker work hosting 2 keyans for a week
more of a real family park with mild rides and great roller coasters and a pool and campground and picnic area
i hate amusement parks and i love this place
You should be able to avoid the mean lady fairly well.
I am in central Illinois, jmc, just north of I-88 (you would probably take I-80, and we are about an hour north of that, but I-88 is pretty much parallel)
I could come by on my way back I am leaving July 11 at the crack of dawn from Washington Iowa--coffee and babble?
I could hand deliver my book if I manage to actually finish it
that would be utterly fabulous, jmc!
ack! split infinative!
only a problem in Latin, jmc :-)
You're allowed
being from texas originally i really don't mind driving
that is how i "read" bleak house (what a great book!)
bbs
me too.
no my mother is SPINNING in her grave that i would do such a terrible thing
hb peri
send me a message on facebook, jmc, and we can get the details figured out
back from checking out Knoebels looks really great
we have friends in Mechanicsburg
have to ask if they know about it
whew have i mentioned how much i hate facebook?
i am sure they do west
Nothing terrible about listening to books on CD. I love it. I feel like a kid again, having someone read to me.
i love it because i don't have to pay 50 bucks to people watch while my kid and now my friends ride rides
well, you have my regular email too, jmc; I'll send you a message
lol jmc it just grabs hold and won't let go
I'm not a big fan of "All About Me" Book either, JMC.
i wouldn't mind it if it would quit changing where and what i do to contact people
everytime i am on there i swear they have moved things around again
i do uu? I get so confused as to who is who sometimes i want to spit
the nice part of facebook is i found my daddy's nephew
Sue, send JMC an email so she won't be confused. I'll fix her a drink.
I saw that crossy joined he was the main reason I quit cuz he was such a harbinger of doom and gloom re FB
I'll probably join again so I can see what everyone is up to..no one answers emails anymore
Don't you love it when people "cross over" like that.
sounds like he's having fun
That's what I don't like about Facebook. It's made people too lazy to email. Well, most people.
we're having a huge family crisis right now and thankfully one daughter is keeping me informed
the rest are all 'friends' and tell each other what's going on
too early in the day for a drink except the retsina i have for lunch
I answer emails
remember telephones? lol
ooh jmc did you have greek food too?
yes i had kabob chicken over a greek salad and demaldes
yummy
my son only texts me now
Telephones? I remember letters. *Insert sound of creaky bones*
lol molly
our son in law still writes thank you notes
my hubby was a big letter writer i feel sorry for all these kids that will only email cards to remember
I refuse to get into the text craze. If my kids want to communicate with me, they can make their fingers dial 7 numbers and speak.
Or 10 numbers.
I almost hate to call anyone and get the answering machine..seems no one just picks up the phone anymore
my son swears he remembers dial phones
having notes on paper is really nice, letters and cards...
back for a couple of minutes doing laundry (!!) I agree with you about FB, mostly it's too much information
hi ruby
I love letters but type them on the computer, then mail them
on the other hand texting can be handy (it's how my stepbrother and I communicate; he could do it in the hospital when he couldn't make calls)
they have their good and bad points
I don't even have a mobile phone
and hi, ruby!
hi westford (must go in and tickle the washing machine) brb
oo one of scrabs' bunnies died:sebastian
I have a pink princess dial phone with a rotary dial
*hands ruby a feather*
aww poor bunny and poor scrabs
I saw that, jmc, very sad
was he her oldest one?
too funny, west! I remember when those first came out...
terrible when pets die....I grieve for my various dead dogs
(the princess phones, that is)
it was in the house when we moved here
now if i could figure out who she is on fb and figure out how to contact her i could send condolences
i think so west
brb
Well, I guess The Universe took that out of Scrabs's hands. She was getting ready to euthanize him.
great big clunking wall mount
I have a rotary dial phone. Comes in handy when the power goes out.
it's good then..he was ready to go
love how the conversation just switches
jmc, she did put a post on FB about the rabbit yesterday so you can probably find it. Hello All.
our phones are electric so when the power goes out, oftenhere, no service
hi red
hello red, how is your hip?
we're having Florida weather in RI
I think it is OK. No walking still...
I heard. My sister took all of her Seniors to Block Island today!
where have I been ? did you fall?
that will be nice and cool..great boat ride too
I had some hip surgery, but no I did not fall, it is a little complicated.
how are you getting along?
this is such a lovely late-night group
all the more now that you're here ruby
I'm doing ok Westford, bored, and tired, and we will not know much about the success of the surgery for several more months, so I am learning about being patient. very patient.
the nurse is the patient patient now
FW ! ....now to wait for the call from the hospital.... I'm going to be a Great Grandma in minutes !!.... the first one :-)))
Very exciting Diane!
oh diane how wonderful
yay, diane!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (for both things!!!!!!!!!!!!)
so very much !!!
yay diane!
and yay for fireworks too
that is lovely news, diane
Diane!!! So excited for you!!
do you know what the baby is?
and are you close by?
she's been having a tough time... this little mommy is only 4 ' 11 inches.... and baby is stubborn and face down.... they've just taken her into OR for a C section.
<---- Still not so patiently waiting to be a Grandma
It is a little girl.
sweet !!
oh, dear, diane, best of luck to her!!!
All will be well soon enough I hope Diane!
This granddaughter is 26.... we've been wanting a wee one around again ( Youngest granddaughter is 12.... no baby anymore )
c-section sounds like a great idea. If men had to have babies, the human race would have died out long ago
might be a 12 pounder like jmc's son
I'll be in to share the news... I'm very excited
aaarghh
I love babies
me too the more the merrier
I'm going to put a casserole into the oven but will leave Babble chat open.... I'll be back .
we'll be waiting diane
Just wandered in... (((((Diane))))) Such happy news. Congrats!!! And ((((Ruby)))) fancy meeting you here..... (I owe you a long letter..... its 'being wrote'.....) Hows Burt?
no matter how messed up the world is the birth of a new baby seems to put it right
hi, soodle!!
Burt is Burt....'nuf said
:-))) We won't be seeing the baby tonight... I'm still a little shaky from one of those X-rays with the "white stuff" this morning LOL.
hi sood
and bye, all, I am going home, bbl!
Very well put, Westford. How right you are.
Hey and bye Sue :-)
his mood swings are getting pretty wild
Hi soodle... long time NO SEE !!
bye sue
bye sue see you soon
(it is down to 59 degrees after being 98 yesterday - I might even want my jacket!!)
ruby you are a living saint
Well, hey there, great grandma!!!!!! ((((((Hugs)))))))))))
and that is so true, westford
no, I just gnash my teeth a little and pet dogs....it helps
well , not quite soodle.... soon though. I'll be posting a pic on FB in due time :-)
Rubes..... I don't think I have ever seen you here this hour... Are you OK my friend?
my son's wife doesn't want children so I'll never have the experience. Anytime somebody wants to lend me one, I'll be very welcoming....
tough couple of days; I'd rather do laundry and chat than go to bed
please post one here too diane
you can have our oldest daughter ruby she's leaving her husband of 24 years and moving from Massachusetts to Seattle
all on a whim
she must be very brave!
or very nuts
do you think she'll change her mind?
her own kids are okay with it ...for now
Is it a mid-life crisis, Westford?
will do westford
he's never been the best of husbands but he was taken completely by surprise
better to do it while she's young enough to start another life
thanks diane..I tried FB as you know and just couldn't do it
Diane, are you close to the mom-to-be? Will you see the baby in real life soon?
waiting too long isn't such a great idea. I left my 1sat husband when I was 27 and waitedand waited almost 30 years to re-marry
true enough ruby but here's the clincher she's going out there to live with the son of a friend of mine from junior high school they met when he brought his son to visit back in 1984
but oh those in-between years!!!! splendid, mostly
Well Ruby, you certainly gave yourself "enough time between relationships" : P
you never know, he might be "the one". Let's all hope so
no regrets, that's for sure
so far they're just 'friends'
<----- Getting images of Ruby in Grease...... wella wella wella OOOOh, tell me more, tell me moe........
more
it was a great period of my life
that's for our collaborative book, soodle
we'll stock up on liquid refreshments and probably get it done in a week
Ah!!! The Rooble Book!! A Babble First!!!!
we'll both make some money
crossy can sell it in his book store
or the Sooby book
I like Sooby Rooble myself lol
I just have to change ALL the names
will we all be in it?
and make flow charts and chronologies
especially mine!!!
LOL. I guess the Rooble/Sooby book will be more of money spinner than Moll's incantations.... (I have been in an attitude of outstretched arms, saying 'Lord I am willing to recieve' (to no avail) for weeks now..........
still haven't won that lottery?
I'm a fast typist but had better do it before I am too old and I start forgetting
I guess I had better trudge on upstairs and face the music.....
Not yet, West.... but still chanting.....
I vote for "Women Of Substance" as a title. And please, folks, don't take advice from me about anything.
what's funny is that husband has never asked me questions about my past and I know EVERYTHING about his and all of his exwives'
(((((((((((((((Rubes)))))))))))))) <--- Mega hugs!!!
{{actually, it would be a fun project}}
bye and hugs ruby and all I'm trudging too
what I've learned though is that all the old boyfriends start to look like monkeys when they grow older....except the one who looks exactly like Viggo Mortensen (a nice Irish boy)
((((((Westford))))) We will keep a chapter free for our Babble friends, right, Rubes?
not Viggo, mine lol
for sure. Perhaps we can all write chapters, then anonymity will be easier. Locations would probably have to be changed, too
RUBY! You had a boyfriend that looked like Viggo AND YOU LET HIM GET AWAY???? *Faints*
get to specific and problems could arise.....
Oh My, I leave to cook spaghetti and I come back to all sort of love and steamy affairs. Woweee.
Baby is here.... no details.... the "Grandma" has blackberried a picture to my other daughters but I haven't seen it.... All is well !! YAYYYYYYY
we lived together for 4 years after my divorce and he was beautiful, I used to have him pose for me
too* specific
Congratulations Diane!!!
YAY and congratulations, diane
YABBA-DABBA-DOO! WELCOME TO THE WORLD, BABY GIRL.
congratulations Diane!!!! what a lovely occasion!!!!
My story is a little boring but wonderful... started dating my hubby at age 17, married at 20 and we just celebrated our 51 st wedding anniversary.... but it could make a good story LOL
{{big group hug}} maybe I'll start working on an outline.....
*Picturing Ruby as Greg Kinnear in "As Good As It Gets*
I never saw that....hmm
Be back later..... wheeeee !!
and THANKS, everyone !!!
mine definately isn't boring and even has some scary parts
definitely (I had better remember how to spell before I start writing....}
Ruby!!!! Shame on you. Get thee hence to the video shop and get 'As Good as It Gets' An absolute Must See!
OK
*poof*
((((Nite Rubes))))
I love the part when Nicholson tells Helen Hunt she makes him want to be a better man.
From start to finish, that film is perfect. The casting was superb, the acting second to none. Definitely, after The Wizard of Oz, my favourite film of all time.
My very favorite part is when Helen Hunt screams at her mother "I JUST WANT A NORMAL BOYFRIEND!" and Mom quietly replies, "We all do dear."
My favourite bit is when the secretary person is gushing at the Nicholson character, wondering how he gets into a woman's mind, and he does his siloquay.... about imagining a man, and taking away logic etc etc. No other actor but Nicholson could have got away with that scene :-)
i think i won't tell my story except the part with my hubby--too many men could have their feelings hurt if i forgot one
*Wonders if JMC was Pat Benetar's inspiration for that "before I put another notch in my lipstick case" line*

I'm actually going to bed soon. It's been a long day lifting people of their psychological burdens.
vi6?
sounds good, kap!
i i could use some of that!
Kap, that must be a tough job. I wish you a comfy, peaceful night.
vi6 + vi + ci**** acid is the acid in lemons
Ah, so much neurosis- gone just like that.
rhymes with acid in a lemon
can yo do it over the ether? ;)
From whence will my livelihood come?
I can do it WITH ether.
ah thanks
anesthesia is sounding pretty good right about now.
No Kap, not that. It didn't work out so well for that guy in "The Cider House Rules".
Ah, well- win some, lose some.
hmmpf. There are a couple of people in (or near) my house that could use a little neurosis removal.
I'm being selfish, I know. But I like having you around.
I replace the neurosis with full blown psychosis.
Not really.
job security.
It was a joke.
Oh my God Kap, you are channeling Alan Sherman.
But you knew that already.
Which Allen Sherman am I channeling?
Oh- the rhyming? I do it by osmosis.
Life a bed of is not a bed of roses.
I wonder where my nose is?
None, you are writing a new one for him. And you cure halitosis.
first va5?
SNAP! I was just going to use halitosis!
like gas, leslie (water va***, for example)
Mate grinds think alike!
The rest is verbosis.
how did i not see that? i tried so many ridiculous combinations.
co5pls?
Moses supposes his toses are roses but Moses supposes erroneously...
I'm serious, there is a Sherman memorial song in all this.
co + Ave Ma***
for Moses he knowses his toeses aren't roses as Moses supposes his toeses to be!
ty
That's from Singin' in the Rain.
And there is cirrhosis in the song too, we need someone with an alcohol problem.
I remember reading that to my son - life was much simpler when he was little :-(
(the moses rhyme, that was)
HI
hi, herin!
Herin, you are entering a thicket of osis.
Sue, there is a story in me about the days when my kids were little, about how life was simpler then. "Back In The Days Of Sesame Street".
Put down the duckie.
If you wanna play the saxophone.
Howdy. My Cat's are helping
But it would probably be a bad rip off of Kenny Loggins and "Back In The Days Of Pooh".
Herin doesn't know Put Down the Duckie?
pa 5/18?
I said I was going to bed, and I meant it.
No I doont sorry
nvm got it
The National Association Of W Lovers wishes you a good night, Kap.
It was a Sesame Street showstopper.
:)
fireworks!
Put Down The Ducky.... http://www.youtube.com/watch ?v=UiQsaEdJ1aI
Awwww. I miss old school Sesame Street
My friend says this sums up when his boss talks :http://tinyurl.com/3f63sw7 Thankyou Sesame Street
I am forever grateful that my kids have Sesame Street woven into the fabric of their upbringing.
Hello Babblers, how are you tonight?
Hi Wht
Just catching up on gossip here.
hi, wht!
and sorry, all, had to reboot. computer is much happier now.
I am much with the giggling with the amount of crap my ex is talking about
So I am being flummuxed by my last two words, the pt6 and the ap7.
Do you want clues wht?
And was it Lena Horne who sang "Me and my X" on Sesame Street?
I would love some clues. I am in my normal state. Clueless.
ap + not cold + first part of frozen water
pt + ot4/5
p + small child + frozen water first part again
ty Molly and Une. Fireworks.
yw and congrats!!
!!!! wht !!!!
I don't know why I couldn't see those. :^)
Perhaps because you speak normal words of English.
TRUE!! LOL
That must be it.
Maybe we need an Enable-English dictionary.
yay, wht!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
<---- was enjoying the Muppet videos
Muppets are great
Hi une
Does anyone need clues before I go?
I am clueless
pa5-12 please.....thanks
The place outside your back sliding door.
Thanks much, wht.
OK before I got to bed, I must complain. this grid has topiary and tapioca as phantoms...driving me nuts.
It sounds like there is a list - could someone tell me whose profile has it? I am too tired to continue on my own! Thanks!
Not to mention the phantom apricot.
Lickety has a list.

(((MRP)))
hi, mrp and crossy!
9:43 pm here mu down under darlin:)
sue:))
oh! you have your porcedure done mrp?
((crossy)) **hugs**
hi sue!! **hugs**
yes I have crossy... and I look about 5 months pregnant! LOL
I am staying in bed for 5 days
oh, I am glad you are taking it easy, mrp!!!
can't lift a thing
all black and blue i am sure..my mrs was a mess for a few weeks but her incision is the entire width of her lover belly
poor mrs crossy!!
nice image, crossy (the lover belly, I mean) although I suspect it is a typo :-)
poor mrp:(
you take it easy and eat bon bons in bed and babble
lower
they were in my ladys innards for 4 hours..was not pretty
yes, and they are not kidding about not lifting things - you probably have a lot of internal stitches, and don't want to be messing those up
(((MRP))) i was just thinking about you!!
do not lift ANYthing mrp..or ill come down there and give you heck
don't worry crossy, they did the whole thing through the vijajay... no stem to stern cuts for me!
i am glad to hear that they have advanced that far;)
((dawg))!! **hugs** i promise i won't do anything!
Hi everyone!!
my lady had to hold a pillow against her belly and apply pressure just to cough
they do hysterectomy now through keyhole surgery
hi, luwanda!
Glad you are ok mrp
poor mrs crossy! what an awful thing for her to go through
hi lu, and everyone!
hi lu :)
but as I understand it you didn't have a hysterectomy, mrp, right?
I have mine several years ago at 39. Mine was abdominal surgery. Make sure you take is easy
it is partially my fault mrp,she delayed her operation whole i was going through chemo..so it was 2 months before she could get in;9
no sue I had a type of hysterectomy, a hysteroscopy... took out the cot (lining of uterus) but left the playpen. still have falopians and ovaries, looped my cervix so that is kind of gone.... it will take a while for the uterus to go back down to size
crossy, don't blame yourself!!
lol@ playpen!! they took everything out of my mrs
did she go through early menopause?? was she younger than the usual menopause time?
but probably a quicker recovery than a complete hysterectomy (which took me a good 6 weeks to recover from as I recall...)
she had a massive infection of her reproductive system and everything was sticking together..was not good
she was 35 at the time
oh poor girl!!
I went back to work 4 wks after mine. The good part was I was not allowed to run the vacuum for a month.
oh, that's tough, crossy, I was 51 when I had mine
it ws interfering with peeing..pooping..digesting...etc
i am expecting a couple of weeks at the most, but will not be out of bed for 5 days
You are all in my thoughts an prayers
well, as I say, mrp, take care of yourself and don't try to rush things! your body needs time to heal.
i guess everyone has different recovery rates and am glad you all recovered well in the end
she was strong for me during my chemo and i nursed her through her hysterectomy..she was my rock and i was her staff
thanks so much lu, and to all my buddies on babble... your thoughts have helped me a lot
and i am sure you will recover post hate
allow yoursellf time to recover
post hate!! LOL...
i will, I promise I will
no refereeing for me this weekend!!
you tell lickety that he better be making you brekkies in bed for the next few days
post haste*
he sure is... and lunch and dinner.
i have my hot water bottle and drugs and friends sitting next to me doing babble, crosswords, target word and lexulous.
sounds just right, mrp!
i slept for about 24 hours, with maybe a 2 hour break in between up until now
evening all ... interesting conversation to walk in on ... ' been there, done that '

later, MRP
so, other than that, how's everyone doing?
ok for the moment; local drama seems to be over for the moment and I have a 3-day weekend coming up :-)
glad to hear things are subsiding; bet you can't wait for a long weekend...
indeed. Actually the university is now on its summer schedule, which is M-Th only so all my summer weekends are long
We're just finishing Finals Week; the uni graduation activities all occur on Monday...once next week is over, I'll be working 4/3, too! :)
nice :-)
my dept graduated last saturday *sigh of relief *
spent the latter half of my morning with my g'dau and her classmates...
sounds like fun.
...I was their art project guest (last Thurs, too)...
...what a group!
They've been studying The Oregon Trail...so last week I showed them how to make covered wagons; this week's lesson was how to make yarn dolls to go in the wagons (using materials kids would have used 'back the')
what ages?
* then
9-10
they must have had a blast!
sounds like a lot of fun, Pini
It was quite entertaining...and, thankfully, we got them all done: 12 wagons and 24 'dolls' (both boy and girl dolls - some with scrap fabric clothes, too!)
It was interesting to handle their attention spans and ability to cooperate (or not) with each other...
...2 girls were worked really well together; 4 girls just kept trying to do them individually (even though they'd all been paired up to help each other 'hold' and 'tie'); the boys just needed handholding...oy
I do have to admit that I found out today that they enjoyed making the wagons so much that during some of their other classroom downtime, they created the landscape to display the wagon train!
that's such an interesting age. they really want to please, and the drama is minimal (for the most part). lol at the boys needing their hands held.
Very true, lbd...and well worth the two sessions I spent with them. I hope my g'dau teacher next year will invite me to come do another craft with them...
Good evening to my fellow babblers! How is everyone?
