I cannot believe there are 16 v's...wtg flosey
Good night all!
Va4.7 is a place near here. It has a United Methodist Church and some houses and a late 19-th century school that is now a park, and that's the whole place. Oh, and a four-way stop with flashing red lights.
evening, yall
Bye neil. Can the papers wait till morning?

odd sa 7/32 melancholy + press clothes
it's usually hyphenated, and means a pressing metal device with a flat surface
(yay for dictionaries)
1st time I have ever seen it
made it my icon clue :)
wtg
were not for my one great-grandmother and a great-aunt, i'd never have heard the word myself.
neat photo
still missing one elusive y
I thought that one looked neat, if heavy
now that I see your photo, I think a friend of mine uses one as a doorstop...
i have no Ys at all, and i'm still seeking my 2nd va6
yes, they make great doorstops, and have a handle too
popped back in for a bit and saw that sa7 -- looking at the ? is think dc's pic isn't quite it...
second va 6 ends with suffix... more of va 4/7
they come in many different styles, though an inverted U handle seems more common for the style
I have one like that as a doorstop -- also a tailor's goose and a little flat-**** with a moveable "door" so that a hot coal can be inserted. Got it in England.
oh, the internal coal ones are so much nicer than the heat-on-stove ones
wow the door would have been a great innovation
there, updated to reflect the ?
nice
ah, yes -- nice, dc!
I would love to have the vase jili has as an icon...
yes, her vase is a very lovely piece indeed :)
well, I'll have to change it when I find a good word in this grid, but meanwhile...*repoof*
I love china from England... adore Waterford Crystal, and we have a Glass Factory here that makes amazing cutglass...
oh, that suffix. i was blind. ty, dee
g'night jill
yqw I didn't see it right away either
ttfn jili
This vase is not from England -- it's Delft, from the Netherlands -- yesterday's theme.
Here is the website for our local Cut Glass Factory...http://www.warsaw-cutglass.c om/
I have pieces from the original owner Mr. Dobbins...
oh, i know some of their work, Dee, they do nice stuff.
amazing pieces... some of my older pieces feel very heavy like the old "lead glass"... the newer glass seems to be thinner, but still lovely
Interesting Dee, I was admiring the different patterns
I started with fern when I was married, but I inherited pieces from Dan's grandmother and my mom, so now I have many different patterns... I love the look of more than one...a bit eclectic but very interesting
http://www.blenko.com/ is the nearest-to-me glass place.
one of my favorite wedding gifts is a large cannister... then we fill it with candy kisses... a beautiful piece for a cookie jar...
brb looking
i have a cut glass bowl from my grandparents that used to always be full of peanut M&Ms. kk
if you have the pieces you should use them... I use my decanters for mouthwash... love blenko's decanters
we have a few pieces, and will acquire more once i'm working again. A friend has been talking me into going into realty.
I don't care for Warsaw Cut Glass' new sunflower pattern, but the younger ladies like it.. too cutesey for me
how did your job lead go?
alas, it did not pan out.
so sorry... was hoping this was "the one"... know that feeling of disappointment... have learned it well with this house situation...
i'm sure you have. Such a lovely, lovely home. Cannot imagine why it's not sold.
market there must be in bad shape.
We can't either, but our market is flooded now. I will almost be glad when the listing expires the end of Oct... then we'll just concentrate on the wedding and wait until next spring. I have REALLY appreciated your kind words - they always seem to come when I need them the most.
afternoon all :)
really, if we had any desire to live in that part of the country, we so would've snatched it up. It's so much of what we want, but such is so hard to afford here.
hi, mrp :)
the wedding must be exciting though :)
hi mrp!
you should just move dc... only 2 hours from Chicago and 2 hours from Indianpolis... really beautiful location... :)
the wedding IS exciting... have to pinch myself to remind myself it is really happening :)... we adore our son-in-law to be...
did you settle on a dress yet Dee?
hope his family fell the same of your daughter
er, feel
that is so important Dee, we have been blessed with wonderful sil and dils
being a MIL is a blessed thing... keeping the pleasantry side of things is so important!
i have to be lucky to have such a luvly MIL and FIL... but they have worked at it!
THAT is a good family!
indeed, mrp :)
unfortunately, I wasn't quite so lucky there!!
nor i
my sister and b-i-l both have fared well, though :)
oh flosey... my husband made darn sure they worked at keeping things loving. Otherwise, he would have been living with them now! LOL
we just did not like each other - can you imagine a mother who would actually tell a little boy he was unplanned and unwanted
Flosey, I found a "maybe" dress... didn't knock me to the ground, but I bought it just in case I don't find something else. His family seems to adore our daughter... a true love-fest between our families... truly grateful for that!
he was the 4th - 6 years later than the 3rd
I agree with you, Flosey, ... I'll just say my ML is a challenge...
sadly, i have seen such parents
flosey, that is one cold bitch
she isn't worth the effort
yes, am afraid so mrp, a sad situation
my SIL isn't worth the effort... not one bit. and she knows it, but keeps the peace with me now for the sake of her parents - cause they love me
unfortunately, my brother and hubby had a falling out and it bubbled over into OUR lives... now that hurts... my own brother turned on me.
but, we are talking about wedding dresses!! I wanna see a pic of the dress dee!
me too, do you have a picture Dee?
OMG! My son just changed my dressing on my leg... he is a friggin surgeon in the making! did the cross latching and waterproof dressing over the top!
very nice, mrp, and a life skill for him, too
wow, lucky you mrp
I won't see a scar cause of his expertness!
expertise? sorry
I don't have a pic of Lindz's dress... she was afraid Jason would see it, so I am not allowed to have one LOL... tooo funny. I can show a photo of her shoes: http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/glint-trio -peep-toe-bootie/3112761?origin=catego ry&resultback=241
so dee, do you put a dress pic on FB for us??
how about sending it to our emails... those that are interested would love to see it!! promise not to reveil it to anyone!
or, we just salivate and wait till the wedding day! LOL!!
oh, aren't they elegant, Dee
hang on looking for a photo of dress I bought... don't have one of Lindsay's...
I LOVE the shoes, too, flosey!
that's what I meant Dee, wouldn't ask to see the wedding dress before the day
hang on... looking for my dress
Here is my dress: http://promcollection.com/pages/4193.a sp
I really wanted a jacket, but we'll see...
very elegant Dee
ty flosey!
when is the wedding Dee?
Here is their honeymoon site: http://www.capellahotels.com/ixtapa/de fault-en.html
The wedding is January 21, 2012 in the evening.
lovely honeymoon site
It looks neat... wouldn't be my choice, but they are thrilled.
beautiful view from the rooms
They wanted somewhere warm, even though they wanted a winter wedding... praying it is as cool as the online photos... it has a high rating
I guess I'm old and skeptical lol... so far everything has been as nice as the online photos... they are having an exceptionally simple cake...
flowers are simple, but elegant... they are being very budget conscious... makes me proud of them
smart kids
as a mom, I was a bit concerned, but instead of arguing, we sent them a check and said "go to it". I don't know all of the details (which sometimes drives me nuts), but it has saved sooooo many potential arguments and fussing. I did not want to argue about any of it.
good moring everybody
Did I tell you my brother is going to officiate?
oh that's lovely Dee, makes it more intimate
hello Ruby
took away ALL of my stress... I don't care about anything else...I know the service will be lovely and that is all I really care about.
Hi ruby.
You're a very smart Mom, Dee
lol, not really, I just watched my friends make boo boos, and decided I didn't want to follow suit
our daughter has the potential of being a bridzilla, so didn't really want to go there lol
what a lovely, upbeat conversation!
what a lovely, upbeat conversation!
hugs ruby
did anybody see 27 dresses, speaking of bridezillas!
no ruby, seldom see movies
yes, made me laugh
it is a lovely movie both funny and touching
my favorite scene was when she was trying on dresses in her closet
yes, mom, but also when she gets tipsy and sings Benny and the Jets in the bar
definitely!!
I actually liked that so much I bought it :)
floesy, I am a terrible movie addict -- will watch anything that isn't too vilent, too rappish, or science fiction
I've seen it 4 times on TV here
me, too, ruby... movie addict and proud of it LOL
(great spelling, ruby! violent* flosey*
I should watch to see what's coming in the way of movies on tv - just never think of it
there is that evening time, between 8:30 and 11 or so, when there is nothing else left to do and eyes are too tired to read more
lately I have watched a lot of netflix streaming flics, and many of them have been BBC or Canadian
lol, I don't notice misspelled words,
Flashpoint, the Canadian series is fine and Detroit 587 is fabulous!
well, come 10 pm, this is where I usually am
we have a little movie house on the Island - have been to see, I think, 4 movies in the 16 years we've been here
we don't necessarily get series just when they come out, usually 6 mos or a year later
we don't necessarily get series just when they come out, usually 6 mos or a year later
I loved flashpoint.
I'll have to look for Detroit 587
it makes Toronto look soooo beautiful with its super-saturated colors!
brb
tried watching a dvd movie on computer - didn't have same effect we were given a dvd player but don't know hot to hook it up (so silly)
we have one, too, flosey, and I don't know how to use it, either
a second hand one amd the instructions didn't come with it
boo hoo can't get Detroit 587 on netflix... I loved Monarch on the Glen, DaVinci's Inquest...
and watching films on the computer is not as good as lying in bed and watching in more comfort
had same prob with hook up here... had to ask my brother to do it.. felt silly, too
I think you have to be a child to use all the electronic gadgetry. It comes to them so easily
so true
yes, grandson knows so much more than we do about both tvs and computers
the one who is 13
always amazing how much they know
it is,
fireworks
yay ded!
ty... this one took me forever... just couldn't see the words lol
wow wtg Dee - I'm falling asleep right here! better get to bed, 82 to go for tomorrow
good night, flosey

hugs, dee

Oh, good, ruby. I was trying to find a way to clue it.

any clues for the se8,40 please
thanks deeha..unfortunately dxh is going to go BALLISTIC b.c i am going back to school...b/c i wont be working full time...so his plan of paying me less ... is going to blow up in his face

anyone
or..no...i am cooking today???? what day is it today????
aaron, the mostest ending, as in weary, wearier, wear****
Aaronitor, it's the most se**y something can be. It has the superlative ending for an adjective. Adjective = cool Comparative ending = cooler Superlative ending = coolest
Thanks got it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!
woohooo, aaron
Praise be!
(((((((haz))))))
And now you can look for something that is as dry as it can possibly be. ar7/32.
Good morning/evening all.
And one who is as creative as can possibly be ar7/28
thanks I got it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We're on a roll.
u got any more
Another superlative is ta8 - the latest, the most delayed you can be. And another easy 7 is av7/40 - one who flies.
If you got the ar7, there's another word in the grid that would describe it - dr7.
And now that you've got some 7s and 8s, look at the grid and get lots of the 4s and 5s.
can u stretch on the ta8 please, got all the other ones
The ta8 has that same superlative ending as se8. First three letters form the black sticky stuff used to make roads.
aaron, another word for late, then mostest ending
if you are the last one of several students who are late to class, you are the ta8 of them all
oops, I used the la4 word, anything good in the pb? ;p
ok...well i am going to try and get a few more minutes of shut eye now... sorry rbud it is a bit early for me to bake...later there will be a cake ( orange tropical dream cake... i renamed it from Pig Cake as i am taking them to the mosque tomorrow and somehow..especially for eid..they would NOT appreciate "pig cake" on their table...
thanks i got it, u guys are the best cluers in the WHOLE, WIDE, WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!!
yw aaron
{{RMCC}} you take care hun
I know and we charge the most as well. We are superlative cluers.
have a good day haz.... back later
any clues for the ri7,44 word, please
nite carlee, and please try to come down off mach 10, ((((hugs))))
Bye, carlee.
ri7/44 is the past tense of ri5/16 - one who you compete with, someone who might want the same things as you.
ok, dinner ready, see y'all later
Bye, grannyrose.
thanks got it
And don't forget to plural the ri5/16.
i know i did
Good, it's easy sometimes to forget or sometimes you don't see that it can have other endings.
is there a word that comes of the bottom rightmost s?
su5/12 comes from there. Keep going up.
yep su 4/4
ty haz
You're welcome.
su 5/12 comes from 4th col
5 am here, just doing a few words till i can get sleepy again
You're right - you've managed to su4/5 out the right one.

good morning all
HI and pounce Huggles on SPrite
hey lady :)
How are you going sprite I miss yuo
hey sweetie *hugs*. I am okayish, things are pretty rough on therapy terrain and in my relation, which isn't easy. But managing. And you?
Well you just be kind to yourslef
yes I try, I really do! And even managing partly, so I am reasonably proud of myself. How are you doing?
Slowly
Back room of the house is done
wow, well done.
Bathroom toilet emergancy was dealt with no stress. Stupid pipe fell out of the toilet at 1030pm last night. Love FLy lady for that one
ouch, must have made a spectacular noise!
No noise. Just the pipe that connects the tank to the loo unattached itself. But because of fly lady the bathroom was clean, there was spare towels to mop up the water and there was no mount washmore to cry about as it was done
wtg lady! Could have been much worse indeed.
I think so. I have scheduled into my phone repeat events on Friday to wash towels and repeat events every Wednesday to vacuum and dust the bedroom.
oh that is smart. I might copy that, when I start organising my days again. From Monday on.
Do you have a smart phone ?
no, but I can set alarms
Ok. What I have on my iphone is at 1pm every day check laundry put on a load, every second Wednesday (as it is cooler at the moment) vacuum bedroom so the dust bunnies don't kill me and every Friday Towels
yes, something like that should work for me too. I promised myself to get things together from the moment the children go back to school.
I just use Fly lady. it is so helpful and a sanity saviour.
I had the landlord comment on how clean the toilet was both inside and out and teh bathroom in general
woot!
Just makes everything so much more pleasant
morning, all!
hi
hi, herin!
how are you?
Morning all. Happy Friday.

Good Morning Everybody. How are you doing this AM? Our heat and humidity of yesterday are gone; cloudy and nice today. :-)
Hi Nef, nice to hear you are having nice weather..good weather here also
good morning - must have sent the heat and humidity this direction for both today and tomorrow
morning, teach
good morning everyone:)
good morning all
hI crossy :)
howdy teach,annie
morning crossy
It was in the 90's with very high humidity yesterday (my usual weather page isn't there today!) but it's 75 and dew point is down in the 50's now; MUCH more comfy
hi Annie, crossy, wvteach and everybody else.
wv, I need some coffee: I thought your icon was a fuzzy halter top til I checked your profile! :-)
these small icons are hard to make out even under the best of circumstances
hi again, all! popping in briefly before class...
...and nef, I thought the same thing about wv's icon! Also we have one more day of beastly hot weather, then it will cool off here too.
but it's so much fun to see what everyone has for theirs! I know, I should change mine, but if I do change mine a lot I can't figure out where I'm at.
Take care of yourself in the heat, sue. Use a spritzer bottle to stay cool
nef, I change mine every day now; once I got into the habit it turned out not to be a problem (every once in a while I forget who I am, but it doesn't last long :-)
and thanks to the chog, which gave me an s and an 8, I now have nbs and nbt and can go to class with a clear conscience :-)
WTG, sue!
i usually get it changed once a week or so - but i guess i better change it so it is not so confusing
congrats sue
it isn't confusing, wv; I'm just having my 1st cup of coffee and that will help
I've decided to retire soon; then I may have more time for Babble and maybe then I can learn to switch my icon more often
A fuzzy halter top. Good one Nef! : )
straight out of the 60's, Molly! ;-)
(or maybe the 70's would be better)
Good morning!
hi car.ee
Yes, we need some denim cut offs with a peace sign patch to go with. Morning Car.
Hi Molly and car.
Hi Nef! Hi Annie! Hi Molly!
and platform shoes
crossy still has his thin suede open throat shirt with the tassels and one or 2 wide collar dress shirts.....my platforms were the first thing to go,2 tone white over brown they were
Hi Annie. Yes, some ankle twisters (that is what I call platform shoes)
Good morning from Mr. Bob
Hi Mr. Bob
I still have my leather vest with the 2 foot long fringe (with a few wooden beads threaded onto the fringe and the matching mini skirt (wrap around style); but the knee high platform boots (that DH called "hooker boots" because the soles were 4" high --which kept me out of the rain and snow!) are long gone.
hi Mr. Bob!
Hi Crossy!
hi babblers, platform shoes were great! [spoken by someone who's 5'1") :0
Crossy, did you see the article on FB about bacon roses?
hi JBV!
now, I'd be afraid I'd fall off them
hi car
And there is now way in God's green earth I'd ever be caught dead in that outfit again! (My daughter has worn the vest and skirt before though)
hi JBV and Mr. Bob
my favorite pair of shoes ever were suede platform shoes with a patchwork of colors - pink, yellow, light green, so happy wearing them, nice to remember
i have seen the bacon roses before car.they are quite interesting
OK good. Just wanted to make sure you knew they existed!
I am off...much work to catch up on. I hope you all have a GREAT day!
Last time I was "up home" I went through our old closet there and had to laugh. I was a County Health Nurse up there in the early 70's and ALL of my work dresses were very professional except that they were all short with the hems at my fingertips. Back then I thought I looked and was dressed professionally, now I know why so many of the men had high blood pressures!
bye car.ee. HAGD!
LOL, nef, I remember those short skirts, too - it was easier to pack then, I traveled through Europe with just a flight bag (clothes were tiny and so was I)
now I'd need a steamer trunk :)
LOL!
and i also must be off to work, but before i go,i leave you with crossys tidbit of the day!
Charles Lindbergh was named Time magazine’s first “Man of the Year†in 1927. But what turned into an annual tradition for the publication actually started as an apology: Time had embarrassingly left Lindbergh off the cover after his landmark solo flight and “Man of the Year†was their apology.
tc all and happy babbling...poink!
bye, crossy HAGD!

I put new baby pics up on fb yesterday
nope. Thaks again! :-D
How is he doing Wild? And how is the new Mom?
very well. has his 1st dr appt this morning. his mommy is fine too. easy delivery and he's absolutely perfect
about to go change a diaper while she gets ready
Good news. I love hearing about easy deliveries.
the other 2 o's rhyme with the main character's name in the little mermaid
I'm loving the pictures wild :-)
5 hours at the hospital start to finish. everything went naturally. she didn't even get the epidural started before he showed up
I got those, joshua. thanks
thank you. I love sharing them
So glad to hear she did so well, wild. That will really help her a lot (not starting out parenthood completely exhausted from a long difficult delivery)
Well, time for me to get moving again. BBL. Happy Babbling ALl!
he's awake right now

*steam rising from ears*
uh oh what's up jmc?
just got a phone call purportedly from my phone company
the young woman said she was from the billing department and she asked for my husband's name
if the bill is in your name why does she care?
IT IS AN ILLEGAL QUESTION
i scream at her and called her a bitch and then hung up
good morning everyone
good for you jmc
then i realized i should have just asked for her supervisor and then get to the general counsel to complain
Good morning, all.
call back
*posts signs on JMC's doors warning Jehovah Witnessess*
lots of purported credit card calls coming these days
Awesome, jmc!
so i called back and i am trying to get to the general counsel to complain
*steam rises*
hey i am nice to the jehovah witnesses!
well that is what i am now thinking is that it was actually some kind of phishing
probably a scam jmc. best to hang up.
it won't hurt to call your phone company and let them know this happened to you
X
C
well then the company needs to know that someone is using their name or the company needs to know that someone on staff is asking illegal questions

Or r plus done in languid fashion but with extra vowel inserted.
Off to the PB with wildcat. Ty, Haz.
Penalty box cat
thank you haz
he has his own word now..
You're welcome.
hi, jmc, imagine how many unsuspecting people have fallen for the same scam - or worse
fine i'll take my warm sleeping baby and go
I was almost going to clue it using a brand of handbags/purses but it occurred that ruru, you might not be well up in such matters.
I had a strange experience with my phone company not too long ago, but since it was in my favor, I didn't complain but it seemed weird - I called to report my husband's death and have the name on the bill changed to my own, and they did it without asking for any written proof !!
not up on that haz.. mrs ru would be an expert at that
It might be an English brand, starting with ra instead of ri but horribly overpriced. Don't get her interested.
the same thing happened to me with social security when i reported my husbands death.
well, I believe social security has ways of accessing public records - in my case, the funeral director notified social security immediately
so when I called they already had it on file
I guess they figure no one would falsly report a death if it meant they would lose income
I'll just take a moment to praise the Social Security Administration - of all the many accounts I had to deal with, they were the most prompt, had the kindest staff, very effective and efficient
if it is over-priced..she'd be extremely interested
no but someone could falsely report a death to claim survivor's benefits
anyone able to clue the sa 7/32?
wahoo, a whole $250
yes, a depressed laundry implement
thank you jbv
how are you doing ru?
are there happy ones anywhere?
Some are so happy there's steam coming out of them.
jbv, thats a great clue.
I can't remember the last time I used mine, it's probably crying out of loneliness
hello everybody
hello everyone - some great clues flying around -- ty
hi ruby
and don't even ask me why I keep the ironing board open in the spare room
and nan
hi ruby, flosey, nan, and everybody
just in case jbv
JBV, why DO you keep the ironing board open in the spare room?
you know, Haz, I think I'll put it away today :)
Mine sits out to shame me into ir/4ing. Absolutely HATE that chore.
do you ever look around your quarters and wonder why some things are where they are or why you even have them? I am motivating myself to de-clutter or at least move some things around
I don't mind that chore.
Our house is relatively clutter free. The garage, however...
stats for the middle bottom s, please?
The garage is terribly useful for more than cars, that's for sure.
nm - found it
In fact, ours hasn't seen a car for years but we'll not talk about that.
ty for the ri6, haz, it's incredible that that's a word
It is my husband's domain. I only ask for enough room to park my car.
Apparently ri6 is a grey sea turtle. News to me.
oh yes, now it rings a bell
{{jbv}}
do you think ri 6 is in the grid on tortoise.. er I mean purpose
Judi, you garaage comment made me smile.
You're being very restrained, ruru, you could have had a porpoise joke in there as well.
I know.. I held back
our garage is multi-purpose: one car, husband's treadmill (under the skylight), animal food, all the furniture we couldn't fit into this house when we moved
how about the second La 6.21 after the women?
That earns a gold star.
I could have a grand "garage sale" except I don't think they're allowed here
we keep both cars in the garage, most of our neighbors have to park in the driveway
la6/21 - what President Reagan's mother said when showing a photo of her son 'Here' our la6/21'
la 6 - spanish thief - or a male laundry implement minus the first vowel
I can't put my little car in the garage because the driveway is steep and there's no way I could back down it
cute clue..thank you
You're welcome.
never mind, Haz's was better LOL
Used to have a driveway like that, ruru. Hell in the winter.
you are the best haz.. thanks too jbv
kind of pairs up with the sa 7 -
wonder if there is a mad ir**?
is that for a blue laundry day?
ar 7, please?
ar7 - superlatively dry
the most ar 4/5
that's a word? - ty
ty haz and teach
You're welcome.
well, if it isn't a hazmataz!
yw - use that ending and the adverb ending on several words
hi hurshy
It is indeed. Hello, hurshy.
mm -- thought it might work for the av 7 as well!
hi all
Hello, Hurshy.
the av7 flies a plane.
*pondering what to have for lunch*
Hey all! So my latest trick is to obsess all night over a possible part-time position, only to re-read the announcement in the morning to find I am missing a key qualification. *heavy sigh* I WILL take a nap today, methinks....
v nice, hurshy, ty
ty hurshy
twisty grid today
Now to switch to "find word" mode. *splash*
just found 2 of the 8's on my own. yay and off to finish cooking
the 8's i've found are no and se... what's the other?
does anyone have a clue for ar7 please, the second one
ar7 - most creative?
thanks Haz
most aesthetic
You're welcome.
good one
and ruby
ta8 is the other, hurshy
no, se, ta are the 8's.
ah thanks
ty for the se8
and that leaves only one more 7, also!
thanks for the ta8, Mixi and Haz
I thought ot7 (rhymes with no8) were places where seals were raised....
ruby said a woooooord
into the pb for me....:(
se6,7?
*Puts a freshly baked apple pie in the PB for Ruby*
There is no ot7.
yum, molly, I'll save it for desert. I just picked enough raspberries for a tart!
se6/21 - se plus an anagram of a lazy word (in the grid)
poker player eric se6 (homophone of walk slowly) is the best i can do for a clue...
*poof*
pb ruby, again
Well, it is possible to play on this ipad, but not a lot of fun. Back later on the real computer. *poof*
is the middle di 6-7-6 a combo?
the 6-7 are
By the way Ruby, ot7 is a word. As usual, Enable is ignorant of that.
I didn't even have that one duh me
the second six only changes one letter from the first but is unrelated in meaning.
The last di6 is similar but not related.
thank you, molly
ty hurshy and haz
You're welcome.
ty haz. fireworks.
Congratulations, mixi!
need a clue for the first di7 please?
nm, monkeyed it
There's a relief.
se 6, please?
se6/21 - se plus a reworking of a lazy word in the grid.
ty has -- good clue
You're welcome, cybernan.
sl6 please?
sl6 - most foxlike?
thanks Haz
You're welcome, flosey.
::runs into chog frantically, to hide from any more work::
But you're being paid. It's your duty. Your country needs you.
they dont need me THIS much, all at once!
They obviously can't do without you.
i wanted to take today off. but i couldnt because of this project i have to work on...
We'll be kind and let you stay for a little while.
but have i even gotten to work on said project yet? no...
Is it hush hush and top secret or just so technical that we wouldn't understand?
::beats head against desk::
Don't do that, you might damage government property!
oh, nothing like that. just something that we were supposed to have a lot more time to work on, but they moved up our deadline by over a month. and everything else seems to be blowing up at the same time...
Deep breaths.
More deep breaths.
its basically my job to put out the fires i can + figure out which fires need attention -- and then actually FORCE the rest of the team's attention to them...
And do they not pay enough attention to you?
breakfast time, bbl
Bye, flosey.
well, since we are all already overworked with this deadline being moved up, its tough to jostle them out of their focus zone + get them to refocus on something else. they/we are all working very hard, its just that sometimes i need them to work on something else...
It's obviously frustrating for everyone. Still, it is Friday. Still taking those deep breaths?
yup.
life is just busy all-around lately, and ive been feeling a bit stressed. i just really wanted to take today off. :(
But you've been good and gone into work so that's a plus point for you.
stuck on those last 4 vi's
cybernan, first two are almost the word for a positive attribute ( as in patience is )
The last two relate to Latin life (lives).
You'd see the last one in the full version of CV. (vi5) and the vi4 is the singular.
ok - found the last two -- ty
vi 5.18 anyone?
haz just clued it ruru
thanks haz :)
vi5/18 - just clued below
*!* ta da *!*
Congratulations!
got it
must get back to my photos -- computer shop got the old one up and running temporarily (almost didn't start this morning, but a couple of soft boots later...)
Well done, ruru.
thanks.. that one was hidden
See you again, cybernan.
I'm looking forward to the new computer arriving today, but I'm going to have to replace some editing programs that are too old to run on Win7 -- then there is the question of the printer/copier/scanner -- will everything work?
hello, from an office that does have electricity. (alien feeling... walking in and turning on a light switch)
you still don't have power doren?
Don't ever trust a printer/copier/scanner to cooperate. They're possessed.
lol -- hope the new storm bypasses you
nope! and getting tired of it!
Hello, Dorens. Sympathies on your lack of power.
That's what I'm afraid of, haz
you can plug into our generator doren...
My printer has a mind of its own and I'm no mind-reader.
this one is HP, so no longer any support for it - I think the next one will be a Canon
Mine's an HP as well.
thanks for the sympathy and offer. don't think my extension cord is quite long enough
Anyway, must get to cooking. Enjoy the day!
oh.. maybe pick up a couple at the hardware store?
you too haz
bye haz -- I'm off as well -- bye everyone
bye haz.. thank you for your help
I have to run too.. good luck doren.. I'm sorry about the power.. my friends on Long Island haven't had power since Sunday too
later ru, haz, nan, and everyone?
he said his house feels like a homeless encampment..with all the coolers and ice.
yup. at least i can still shower... gas hot water heater.. but it is by flashlight
I am lighting candles and saying novenas that Katia fizzles out at sea. The East Coast cannot take another hurricane hit.
true molly.. keep it up (but the goddess still hasn't sent me power)
hi all
Molly, I like the quote in your profile, very true
I am sending an urgent note to whichever goddess is watching over Dorens. Stating that she needs electricity NOW!!
ty peri :)
lights should be on when i get home then, right?
Right!
will thank you mightily then
if not, let me know and I will see what else I can do
I am spoiled. don't know what I would do without power for so long. and there are two other people who live here and two cats
100left, need to do an errand, bbs
well i have two cats too, but they can see in the dark
haha

Yes, su5,12.

ty both. :-)
yw :)
Well ChrissieDee beat me to it, but yw. ;)
well i have 100 left - off to do some errands - bb later
clue for vi5/18 please?
nm found it
tr 6/18 ?
tr 6/18 ?
don's have it yet s'mom
**don't even
it's a boat mfr... the tr, that is...
i like you theme pic today flosey- reminds me of next door neighbor... she was an aux pilot in ww 11.... ferried the big ones across to the war zone- some of thse women were shot down... their service to our country was never recognised uuntil just a few years ago
wow, quite a gutsy gal
Flosey and I picked the same clue word. : )
yup- then married and raised 5 kids which she said was harder-lol
interesting Molly
well then you get into personality clashes s'mom - airplanes don't question your judgment, lol
molly- i love you exerpt from a boys life--
so true
thanks amelu, working on that
got it, thanks amelu
That is one of my favorite quotes SMom
yvw :o)
It's a wonderful quote, Molly.
still cannot see the tr 6/18
stay right in that corner s'mom
starts with the 5th col T.
dammmmmmmmm
thought i had it thanks
3 + 2000 lbs
Good clue, flosey.
lol
Well it is.
ty neil
I'm not the best at cluing sometimes... need to simplify things!
well sometimes you can be working on a very simple word but get your mind going in the wrong direction
greeting peoples!It's a sub not a boat
i am a terrible cluer
hi HO
hi flosey
You do realise that if a navy person were here he would be very upset. There are ships and small landing boats. I've been yelled at for calling the biggies boats!
<---Coast Guard brat. Knows what Hoot is referring to.
some people can get a bit touchy! worked with a gal who did the same thing
oh thanks Moll didn't expect backup. I wasn't nasty was I?
They would be most upset at calling a sub a boat I think.
Not at all Hoot.
oh good. Just came from commentingon the yahoo boards and I tend to be very short on there. Complete idiots most of them
Hi hootowl.
Oh god, can I ever relate. Just been doing much the same on Twitter. Total morons.
It's amazing how many don't realise that most of the southern states and coastal states are below sea level!
hi neil
some coastal
I won't even mention what they are saying about Vermont. Complete ignoramises
San Antonio is in the MIDDLE of Texas and they have flood gauges that go to 50 ft!
sorry - I'll stop now
I need a clue for the last ye5 please?
... lots of nodding not no saying
I posted updates on there about a very serious issue and situation in the news... and someone tweeted me asking what I thought about Beyonce being pregnant. I basically told her people like her are what's wrong with this world. Can't see past the end of their own noses.
I think thats the baking ingredient for bread?
Affirmatives, flosey.
thanks again neil
[ye5,14]
... lots of them
You're welcome.
oh my!!!
To what, flosey?
my grand daughter made a comment about beyonce ... to ME..lol... my response was " who could possibly care"
to how one's mind gets set into the wrong direction
parents fault mostly
entertainers shoudl not ber overpaid or worshiped
Oh, that girl who tweeted me? Well she doesn't seem to have enough of a mind in the first place. Didn't even realize she was being 'insulted' either. Although I wasn't really doing that... only stating fact.
No kidding, sammysmom! Amen.
hello everybody
hi again ruby
And that's about my response to anything of that nature too btw, sammysmom.
Beyonce...ugh.
Hi rubyfoo.
hello hootowl. I found the website for crostics and, funnily, when I printed one, it printed everything except the clues which I had to hand=-write!
... but that's not new ... the only thing that my mother and monther-in-law ever agreed on was ... Frank Sinatra is the hottest thing in pants
hey ruby
hi neil
Hi A
Oy vey.
Uh Hi all
I'll see whether amazon.fr has any of the Middleton crostic books that I used to buy in the US
Hi hego.
one of the neighborhood girls said " i just want to touch her"
Hey Ruby
hey ruby - BF did not go to PO yesterday nut he has to go today and then I'll find out postage on sending those crostic mags
my reactin was that you had better goddam well strive to touch a payckech instead
Oh good god. Yes, they do that. I have to see this kind of crap up close and personal sometimes... it's sickening.
Easy there , girl
hello hego, I haven't seen you in a long time
I think mom needs a hug {{mom}}
I'm in and out Ruby
I'm still trying to figure out when these "stars" became more important than god! Most of them are thugs of some sort.
(((MOM)))
hootowl, it is very kind of you, but maybe I can order them from here
then sadly- i realised that this person did not know the meaning of the word "strive" and that even though she was 19... hd never earned a paycheck
that is definitely depressing, mom!
well I'll still have him find out - just in case!
but you have to go to the pb anyway, hahah
thank you (and thank him!)
That's the age of that person who tweeted me, sammysmom. I'll bet she wouldn't know it either. I was very different at 19, can't relate.
slurps her home made chinese chop suey in the pb
I believe that mom - for too long the parents have just been giving the kids everything they want without and need to work for it
I was in college [UCSC] at that age, studying political science.
me too
mom, I miss oriental food, if I put a word in the chog, may I share?
will do ruby
come on ruby
Oh Amen Hoot. 9-year-olds have cell phones these days for Gods sake.
low mein for Ruby!!!
chop suey isn't chinese
Make it a good word that's hard to clue, ruby.
and too much money in their pickets which is why they're fat!
yea Ruby
it's American, isn't it?
I can put some real recipes in my profile if you'd like
yep
... it's from San Francisco I believe
I've been making ersatz sushi for myself as a midnight snack: lumpfish roe, sticky rice, quail egg yolk seasoned with soy sauce and wasabi. Still looking for no** here
I took 3 years of chinese cooking classes though so now half the time I just wing it instead of using a recipe
when my girls were teens and HAD to have designer jeans- holes in their ears - and fnacy shoes........ my response was sure babies- lets go to the boe and i will get work permits for you and you can male the money and buy whatever you want
do you the thing with duck where you put its head in a drawer and let it dry out for two days (to make Peking duck)?
Good, sammysmom.
as long as your sure the fish is fresh and clean - enjoy ruby
duck in a drawer?
Haven't tried that yet. Memphis is not good for that. DRAWER???
I read that in the New Yorker, some famous Chinese couple who travelled would dry out the duck that way
so that it would be crispy
sounds medieval
My kids all had part-time jobs as soon as they were old enough to get a work permit. I don't understand parents who hand their kids money for everything they want.
but would probably work
So did we, Molly... my brother and I.
Supposed to hang it in a clean room. They don't exist here because of forced air systems that are not cleaned, becasue they are rentals
I had a friend, years ago, who was a Chinese food expert and he would wrap a duck in a towel, smash it thoroughly with a hammer, cram it in a just-big-enough pot and cook it for 24 hrs
No. Kids don't learn anything that way... especially not the value of anything. They also don't develop a good work ethic. My parents wouldn't spoil us like that and now, I'm glad.
I started to work, without pay, in my father-s candy store when I was 7. I couldn't scoop ice cream, but could do everything else
when i tell the younger generation that i have worked at some job or another - sometimes 2 at a time since i was 10- they laugh and say that's impossible..... well it wasn t impossible and i did it
I loved it!
Well, just like us, dif parts of China have dif cousines
amen, mom
wouldn't there be a lot of splintered bones, Ruby
My parents gave me an allowance but I had to work for it. Once they started giving me that, then I had to start buying my own school clothes, books, etc...I was only 11.
I cant spell today
It's really sad how spoiled some kids are. They have nannies and maids and learn to do nothing on their own.
when it's cooked that way, you can even eat the bones "don't try this at home!"
Taught me how to save for the "important" things
it was truly the best duck I've ever had!
That's fine, Krysten. That's what our parents did too. Kids should have an allowance, but should have to help around the house for it.
<---Getting queasy at the smashed duck idea.
hego - raw bones don't spinter, they just kinda separate. That's why they tell you not to give dogs cooked bones
interesting Ruby
it's already dead, molly
We lived on a farm and had to get up early every day to do chores
I'm just pretending I don't see that, Molly.
lol Molly
when we didn't we were "docked" part of our allowance
Exactly, hootowl. Cooked bones do splinter.
it's ok moll - I'm sure it was already dead:D
smashed ducks, sounds like a rock band
when i mentioned allowance to my dad he said, " absolutely - i will ALLOW you to work as long as you keep up with your school obligatiions and household chores".
Know that from growing up with raw-fed labs.
dale
OOPS!
I also live about 10 km from town so working wasn't as easy as that
Haha, sammysmom. Well once we were old enough to get p/t jobs, we did that... and no more allowance. But before that we had one, as long as we did our chores. It wasn't much but enabled us to save for things we wanted.
Speaking of what kids are NOT learning these days, they are not learning how to cook.
until my parents thought I was older enough to bike that far on my own
We knew how to cook... both parents worked, so we had to get some of our own meals.
my mother never taught me to cook, I only learned after I became a faculty wife and it was a dish-by-dish process
Not fancy stuff, but we were pretty self-sufficient.
my son has turned out to be a serious cook, probably because his wife is a vegetarian
But then, I became so independant that I moved out of my parents house at the age of 17
But then, I became so independant that I moved out of my parents house at the age of 17
I'm Italian. We'r born knowing how.
But then, I became so independant that I moved out of my parents house at the age of 17.
But then, I became so independant that I moved out of my parents house at the age of 17
I moved out at 18, to go away to college. And never returned, except for visits.
that's true, hego!
they drum you out if you can't
i was peeling veggies, setting the table and doing dishes when i was 6... made my ow bed and swept floors and helped with laundry------- the4re were no child labor laws then
where did you take Chinese cooking classes, hootowl?
I still had almost 2 years of high school left.
Oboy hego - I'm italian too. BUT my mother was the worst cook in the world! I tought myself and watched how othere made stuff. I can now cook in 4 did languages!
I used to love to cook, but I've lost interest now that we don't entertain much any more
Night school when I was married and still in NY
Nothing wrong with doing little chores like that as a child, sammysmom. Doesn't hurt a healthy child.
aaah, you can learn anything in NY!
I've heard this before, Hoot
Agreed Ruby!
Can I be didmissed please my fingers are not listening to me...
good night, hoot
Poor hooty
Child labour laws...permits?? Must be a US thing
I give up with 66 left....
where are you krysten?
I don't like this grid much
surely child labour laws don't apply to having chores to do at home
It's not cooperating with me
Toronto, Canada
I wouldn't think so, flosey.
Oh, Ontario.
I'm feeling the same way hego, not enjoying this grid
Yup
or to my working in my father's store -- he didn't hit me with a stick or anything, lol
I've been to Toronto a couple of times. Nice.
you are right neg and what i learned has helped me throughout the years- also learned to sew, mend, darn, embroider, crochet and knit starting at 6... also was taught to play games like rummy dominoes, checkers, cribbage and do crossword puzzles.... we all could rad before we went to school- nana saw to that
airotid
Canada has child labor laws.
hey Krysten, I lived in Scarborough, North York and Aurora - over the years, before retiring to west coast
Hi snags
not many and only certain provinces
hi snags
hi
I'm Neil, sammysmom. And yes, exactly. Same here. I've been glad to be independent and self-sufficient.
goodheavens
Hi Flosey, I grew up in Sutton (Georgina)
... according to the Globe and Mail this morning ... Canada and the US are the only developed countries whose labour laws do not prevent working before the kid is 15
Krysten, are you sure? You do have to stay in school at least until age 16 - or is it 18
sorry neil , right- and i taught my own 4 kids most of the stuff i learned .. of course they get to use spray cleaners and a vacuum cleaner
you have to be in school, until 16 unless you have guardian or parental permission to quit
... the problem with kids working outside the home is going to be that emplyment becomes more important to them than going to school ... afterall ... they get paid for working ... not for going to school
but you can work at any age, as long as you can get hired
really dose! I had a girlfriend who had to apply to the government to work before she was 16 - that was way back!!! about 1848
I was born and raised in San Diego. I've lived in Santa Cruz since attending college there, except for a brief period where I lived temporarily in Brooklyn NY, for an assignment I was doing. Now some of my family in LA are trying to convince me to move here... ugh. I'm visiting in LA at the moment.
I think Alberta is the only province that has specific laws to govern child labour
great food in LA, Neil!
oops, sorry, 1948
We had a minor earthquake here yesterday. The hanging ceiling lights were moving slightly.
it is the attitude of the parents and educators-- we were allowed to work as long as we did well in school-
... In Ontario it
... In Ontario it's mostly done by the insurance companies ... the employees can't be bonded to handle money until they're 16
ok, part time work is different - after school
sure, but what is part time?
... there is no such thing as part time work after school ... ... as far as the employers are concerned ... you're working for me first ... not going to school ... afterall it's my business
... it's not the fifties and sixties anymore
hmmmm, showing my age!
Funny, doseffing... but my brother and I both had part time jobs after school. And that was only a decade ago for me.
In Ontario, it's defined as anything as long as you don't work 32 hours a week or more for more than 8 weeks in a row
... I know flosey ... I had to learn the hard way by going back to a high school environment
have to go. bbl
... yeah ... but that's just a definition
yes but employers will take advantage
... if the boss phones and says come in now ... ... I have to study for a test doesn't cut it as an excuse and jobs are hard to come by
part time also means lower minimum wages (students), no benefits, sick pay, etc
My youngest is 19 and going to vocational training. He has a part-time job after that 3.5 hours a day, 5 days a week. There are lots of part-time jobs for teenagers.
Oh, yes. It's always been like that though. You have to study and do homework on your own time.
employers will hire more students than adults if they were permited
yes dose, they can always get someone else who is willing to forego studies
... yeah ... but they've never had them ... so they can't lose them ... and they believe they're immortal and will never get sick
oops,. must go, have to groc. shop bbl
I know...I work for one of the biggest retaillers in Canada and we had to put "policies" in place or our store owners would hire only students
... we've got to be careful with generalizations ... there are lots of hardworking kids in school and out
Geez.
Of course there are, doseffing.
... but there's also lots of kids who see no use in school because someone will pay them 10 bucks an hour and that satisfies all my needs now ..
there are also a lot of kids who don't feel they should have to work if Mommy and Daddy keep giving them everything
I went to school with a girl who was my friend for years but she never would work
she's now almost 40 and still lives at home
and doesn't work
... absolutely ... but that's always been there ... I meant to ask sammysmom what her grandparents thought of Elvis and the Everly Brothers and Bill Haley ... my guess is much the same as she ... and I ... think of Beyonce
... ohh well ... I'm starting to sound like one of the five Yorkshiremen ... ... a fish slap for me for taking things too seriously
back again and needing clues for the vi 5/18 and 6/30
You're kidding me, Krysten? I'm 26 and have worked full-time since I graduated from college... supporting myself in my own apartment. I can't imagine living with my parents now, never mind at 40. I was out of their house at 18 and never went back, other than for visits.
nm - got them
Patience is a vi***, Wolvie. Minus the usual last vowel. Then pluralize that for the vi6,30.
lol that always seems to worl
work
Oh sorry, you had them already?
no - as soon as i asked, i saw them - don't know why it works that way sometimes, lol
Yes, it seems to work that way sometimes.
The problem is the kids who don't work at all because Mommy and Daddy pay for everything. Their cars, their college years apartments, everything.
back at last, hi all
hi again, all, classes are done until Tuesday! Yay!
gratz uusue, enjoy the weekend
trying to figure out what that is in your icon - not a stein or a glass or beer...or lager....hmmm (no hints yet, though, I'll figure it out sooner or later!)
it is german/jiddish for a stein
ah. let me think.
you'll figure it out :)
???? Stein IS a German word
yes Molly, I know. And the icon clue is german/yiddish
di6/21 after the trucks, please?
hi Bea
di + es 4
Hello all.
hmmm, I got one that is scottish (similar to the french for glass...)
hi, bea and wolvie, and sprite and molly!

wtg Wolvie!
yay, wolvie!
any clues before i go?
not for me, but thanks for the offer
i don't often get to finish these anymore. :-)
np - everyone have a great day!!
you too, Wolvie :)
Okay, duh. Had the stein word, just didn't know what it meant. I am not fluent in German or Yiddish.
something new learned from babble then... never wasted
I actually had a friend in grade school whose last name was that word.
I didn't know what it meant until I looked it up for the icon either.
ar 7./28 ??
Apparently, my 3/4 Irish genes run rampant over the 1/4 German.
most dry, smom, and hello
The one who paints the best.
... mostly likely to enjoy looking at a painting in a museum
oops, wrong one, sorry
Or...Most like Mr. Linkletter. : P
thanks dose
and thanks Molly
hi everyone, Happy Friday!
Hey Aloy
hey Aloy *hug* And to you too
av7 anyone? Hi y'all
hi pigeonman!
One who flies.
thank you
..
strange, my clue didn't enter
"The Red Baron was one" was what I wrote
hi all....whew!!!!!!!
awww nice one
hiya carlee :)
just spent the last 7 hours setting up my netbook and printer...and at one point i wanted someone to shoot me in the head
oh help that can be so frustrating. Poor carlee.
hi carlee... I'm just going to stop putting posts in Lickety Add box and use the Chatterbox
but.its done!!!!!!..and i hve the scanner working (WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE)
congrats on your new netbook and printer!!
wtg carlee!
i had to spend 2 hours on phone with microsoft installing word on netbook..for some wonky reason.....
and then 2 hours trying to sort out my router/ printer issues
hi again. Aloy, it looks like you are following in my footsteps: I'm forever trying to chat in the Add word box and that's why I often am in the PB for putting WORDS on chog!
hi nef
i usually only use chat box/ add word..hmmmm
thank goodness that job is done, carlee!
so how are u aloy, sprite, nef
as usul i started at the bottom and worked towards toe beginning and with that i bid you all a 5/14
well, something is amiss.. not entering posts into chat as it should..
bye smom
well, something is amiss.. not entering posts into chat as it should..
been better, carlee, but hanging in there.
Okay, this isn't proer etiquette; but I just called my E.D. and told her I'm going to retire --on her voice mail!
Hi all (briefly)
woooot must be a good feeling, Nef. Gratz!
hello jilli
hi jilli
hehehe...good one nef
On looking back in the chat I must again put in a plug for BabbleExpert if you're not using a Mac. Yoohoo Carlee!!!
Hooray for Nef!
sprite -- what are the first 2 letters of your icon clue please?
I really like my job; but my family needs my attention and she'd told me 2 days ago that when I return to work they expect 100% of my attention and focus when I'm at work. I was due to go back to work Sept. 12th; but with all the family things (and my own health also) I just can't do it any more. And it is a relief to say that too!
very well done, Nef. Wish I had been so wise a long time ago. Good for you!
.. back.. gave up, shut down the laptop and came upstairs to use the desktop.. NOW I can chat, (hopefully).
se, jilli
yup, seems to be working as it should
wb Aloy
Thx, sprite
ty, sprite.. lovely icon clue, btw
nef, congratulations on your upcoming retirement
wb, Aloy.
thanks Aloy :)
sprite, are you still working?
and don't forget the plural
Hi Annie! ... and congrats, Nef.. am so happy for you
Hi Aloy!
nef: got a disability benefit because I cannot work
hi, Nef - welcome to the wonderful world of retirement!! many blessing to you and your family
hi JBV
hi sprite - how are you?
hi all
not a good day (week) but hanging in here, not giving up. How are you?
hi there peri
The funny thing is; I'll probably end up volunteering there now! I *really* like the job; but the work and time away from DH and now his Aunt would be overwhelming
hi periwinkle
hi peri, Annie, ALoy and everybody!
hi JBV
sprite, thanks for putting up my icon suggestions. You chose Sept 18 for Angels. That is my youngest sister's birthday. She died in 2000.
nef, looking at your profile I think your retirement is well deserved.
sprite, I hope your weeks ends happily
wow peri, again we see there is no such thing as coincidence. Beautiful!
You did the right thing,Nef
hi jbv, jilli, peri
:)
my granddaughter was born on Sept. 18 (-:
sprite, I know you've had health problems for a while; the way you'd written that first comment to me (at 2:04) made me thinkl you were still working (nowe that I've re read it, it doesn't seem that way though)
Hi Annie -- long time...
hey Annie
np Nef :) I hope I will be able to do some work at home, some time.
that is a special date, that sep 18 :)
hi jilli, JBV, peri, Annie, and whomever else I've missed. BTW; I JUST NOW made that decision; I've been waffling all week about it and DH told me it's up to me to decide. He's not even here; so You guys all know before he does!
afternoon all
will try to use a pic of her as my icon on that day.. (makes note to self)
we are honored, Nef !
hi jesdraggon
Nef, it is awesome!
hi jes
oh that would be very special, Aloy
:-) TY
hi jes :)
be back shortly; Aunty is calling
how is everyone?
Nef, retirement = time for you too, I hope.
just fine, jes, how are you and all the critters you take care of?
not too bad, annie
Hi Molly -- not being a movie-goer, could you please give the stats on your icon clue?
Nef - welcome to club! Will you quakify for SS now?
and sprite, I finally got yopu icon clue, thanks to morewords!
good jilli
sorry I haven't posted a clue yet, but I haven't found an appropriate word, except for the one dc beat me to.
and I still have 33 to go but need to leave and wash hair.
Fireworks
bye jilli
I think sa7 is aptly named, because I would be morose also if I had to use a heavy flat thing to press clothes all day
Hi jilli.
And bye, I guess.
hooray for sheila!
YAY, sheila!
Hello neil
congrats sheila, wtg!!!
lol Aloy
and bfn neil -- back in a bit
gratz Sheila
yay sheila!
Hi jes. Check the jokes I've just shared on profile, if you want a chuckle for the day?
cute
Yes, I thought so... Laura posted those on G+ and generously said I could pass them on.
ed
ed, Inge?
.. fishing self for missing the ts babblets
hi all.
*plonks Aloy gently with a flounder*
hi aloy
hey hego!
Hi again, hego.
And Annie!
hi hego
(-: ah, if it is a cold one, ty Annie.. hot and humid here today
hi hego!
hi sprite
here, neil: http://xkcd.com/936/
I think Inge has the same problem a lot of Babble Expert users have. Apparently if you type two letters, they end up in the chat log, instead of the add word box.
Oh, ok! I don't use Babble Expert.
Neither do I, it has too many bugs in it.
Thanks, jes... just checking it.
works as a charm here, no bugs
I've just never found a need to install it. A regular browser works fine for me.
I've never had a problem using it
and no, if you type two letters, they do not go the the chat log. Only if you use a space in between a word and two letters
Bug-free Expert here
fw here!
wtg Aloy!
YAY Aloy !!!
I was just repeating an explanation for the two letters in chat that Carlee gave. And she gave examples of that too, when she explained it.
yay aloy!
Thanks jes! That's a keeper... bookmarking.
am going to experiment, will now type ex and see..
ex
sorry but it is just not true. You only get a chat message like 'ed' if you type 'explain ed' in stead of explained. So it is a user bug and not a program bug.
.. h'mm
lol Aloy
Seems to have worked for Aloy
I typed the same and I don't see mine
Yay Aloy
I typed the ex in the Lickety Add box, now I'll type it in the Chat box
ex
.. h'mm
chat box and add box are combined in my expert
very interesting..
heh. i accidentally have a theme icon--the squirrel ea4 the se4s from the pinecone :)
I have Beta V12, what do you have?
nice, jes :)
same
wtg, jes, lol
I love y expert so much i've saved it to dvd
If the chat box and the add box are combined, how do you send one thing to chat and the other to the word list?
can I get a clue for sl 6/24 ?
i'm also apparently easily amused ;)
most sneeky?
That is a cute photo, jes!
and so are we then, jes ;)
it is the one who is most clever and sneaky, Annie
Thank you! aloy and sprite
if I type one word, Molly, it goes to the puzzle. When I type two words or more, using a space in between, they go to the chatbox
Have to head out for a job now. Not looking forward to driving around LA, ugh. Take care all.
yvw Annie :)
thanks, neil. That's Sister; one of my orphans from this spring.
bye, neil
never even looked at the bottom esses and there are three
Well, like I said, I don't use Expert. But some people who do, find that typing two letters will send them to the chat box. I can't explain why that happens to some and not others.
but, but.. you mean you do NOT have an empty box at the top of your chat?
bye neil
lol Annie
me neither, Molly
Aloy: yes but that is not the chat box of the expert, that is just the site one.
ah, sweet mysteries of Life.. ok.. well, I find Expert to be a big time saver.. after my brain is drained, I can use the "Resources" for help..
I made a Vegetable Pate which I used as a sandwich spread. It is really quite good.
wtg peri, sounds tasty
sounds healthy too, peri
must scoot now, fun chatting with you all.. ciao for now, hope to see you next grid!
I can put the recipe in my profile if anyone is interested.
bye Aloy, was nice to see you too
lots of people, i think, peri, including me
or not
bye, aloy
oh, ok then will do it later, spritey
yes, please do, peri (-: poof
lol well now I am somebody... not impressive, I know, but still count like one!
ok :)
I got it from the New Moosewood Cookbook.
sprtie, you always count in my book!
:) I know... and a special book it is too!
but if people do not ask for a recipe right away I am not sure if anyone wants it
indeed, a very special book with a few select people in it
fireflies for me... cute grid. *hugs* and have fun all!
Pate is mostly vegetables, except for the one meat ingredient. Vegetable pates substitute beans and/or nuts for the meat. Kind of like hummus.
well I want it, and I know a couple of others will too, but maybe they are not online right now.
this one is made with green beans, hard boiled eggs and walnuts
sounds really good
yay sprite!
I got that recipe from my mother in law years ago, it is delicious
yay sprite
will checkout your profile tomorrow, peri :) Ok, really gone now *poof*
She called it vegetable liver...sounds awful but very tasty
It's a great thing to put out for vegetarian friends when doing an appetizer table.
I wsill definitely make it again
it can be used as a dip as well
if you're looking for vegetarian recipes, i can get the recipe from bruce for the zucchini and tofu gratin he made wednesday
yes pls, jess
I asked Bruce to email it to you; probably won't happen until tonight, as he's building a fence for me right now.
np, ty Jess
welcome :)

ok, and why are you taking these classes?
sorry i found the wrong one peri haha!
what is this curriculum? i am thinkhng of taking restorative practices, i think the firt class is free

restorative justice is a part of conflict transformation
yes behtkehem and doylestown

bye, uusue
Hello jesdraggon! How are you doing? Welcome to grid
*wanders in and offers choclits* hey all!
Hi stidmama! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid
hi min, stid :)
I am well, Min -- spent about 6 hours helping in my friend's classroom. She'll have a fine weekend and have plenty of time to get ready before the kids arrive next Wednesday.
hey jes -- how's the dog fence going?
they'll be pretty stoked, i think. mostly it's a horse fence though--we're going around 12 acres or so.
so lots of posts, no wire yet.
ack. TWELVE acres?!? *mind boggles, then goes blank trying to count that high*
one of the lovelies of living in the back of beyond. We have 29 acres.
we're going to run the invisible fence along the horse fence, so that the dogs can have the whole field too
That's a wonderful idea!
we have just over one acre, but would only fence about half if we had the money. Originally thought it would be the back, but after what those venison have been doing to my flowers, considering fencing the front where all the gardens and orchard are...
heh. nice that you call them venison while they're still walking around
yes, I thought about that after I hit send. I think there might be a slight loss of "cute" when the gladioli all disappear in a single night. Too bad I can't actually eat those critters... but after consuming my glads they probably would taste somewhat peculiar now.
why can't you eat them? allergies?
yes, they are bovine, so off-limits to me.
hi stiddy, hi jes
hey LBD
they aren't bovine though
hi all. i have electricity!!
hi dawg :)
they aren't even ruminents
ruminants
yay dorens!
hi dorens! yeah for electricity!
well, sheep, goats and cows are all off-limits... are deer that different from those?
YAY DOREN!!!
someone asked what i liked best about getting electricity back.. I had to admit it was the computer
yes. deer, elk, and moose are cervids, not ruminants.
i don't know how food intolerance would or wouldn't cross-over, but we have a lot of dogs that don't tolerate beef based diets that do fine on venison diets.
hm. they don't ruminate?
no. they have a 3-chambered stomach, not a 4-chambered one.
maybe I will ask the allergist if they might be safe. I learned another new thing and still several hours before bedtime! LOL
clues for the o words top right?
wow. it's going to be COLD tonight -- mid forties.
And predicted to be low 80s -- that is a huge swing anticipated from morning to afternoon for us!
heh. though really, it should be the protein structure of the muscle tissue that's of concern for allergies, right?
mkg, like the orange and black bird from baltimore
yes, that is the concern -- I don't know which proteins might cross-over and cause a reaction
I can still eat pork, though so maybe venison would work.
well, assuming you don't have full on anaphylactic shock reaction, you could try a few bites and see what happens. Obviously, if there is risk of more than just discomfort, that wouldn't be such a swell plan
I get full anaphylaxis. Very scary.
got the bird stid. ty. and plural.
just cooking something on a griddle next to or after beef can cause me to have a full reaction.
go mkg go!
ah well. then don't go experimenting without your doctor's supervision! i wouldn't wanna accidentally hospitalize you!
so far sheep and goat just make me have hives.
need two more for that o.
and two more of the n words below the o.
LOL no worries, jes -- I am far too cowardly!
I need two more for that O also...
well, stid, if you ate some beef on accident, you might say that it causes an or6/21
ty for clues
hm. thanks jes *thinking*
YES! LOL it does -- like walking on hot coals or trial by fire...
I am suddenly down to 97.
jes i dont get that or clue. reaction i would get. hives or sneezes i would get. asthma i would get. coughing i would get.
now i got it. ty for clues.
and going through those reactions would be an or6, mkg
I think I will go see if Tom needs help in the kitchen. And then I want to do some learning on that new ipad.
i have one 8. the no. what are others please?
ooh, new toy! :)
have fun, stid!
don't know, mkg
Oh my poor state bird and baseball team. Their spelling has taken a beating today. As has the sexual manual that does not start with "karma". : )
hope you-all will have a lovely weekend! *poof*
thanks, molly! didn't have the manual :)
you also, stid. hugs!
Kama. Saying nothing about ownership. ;)
Jes, 29 acres sounds awesome.
it IS, molly. i love living in the woods
I think Boy George wrote the Karma su5. : )
*snerk*
Thanks, Molly. Had to save a screenshot of this... not saying why. ;) Hi to you too, people.
Hello Neil! How are you doing? Welcome to the puzzle.
uh oh. we've been recorded, molly
It's all in the archives Jes. What is said in Babble lives on in Babble infamy.
hmm. perhaps I should mind my matters then.
Haha!
Nothing to worry about.
It's just too funny not to pass on.
Thank you, thank you. We're here until 1AM. Please remember to tip your servers.
argh. i keep missing the words with the comparative endings.
endings
I was doing that yesterday with all the "us" endings.
nbt (finally!)

ty

Yes JMC, there is.
i thought so
today was friday, no?
hmm. the only name i know for neptune's weapon doesn't work.
3+1000 lbs
Jes...3 + 2000 pounds
JMC's clue is skinnier than mine. : )
oops wrong number of pounds! hahaha
thanks. that's a particular ion though, not a spear...
:)
thank god i don't need to know these things in real life!
<--- is feeling pedantic
The gum name is Neptune's spear.

I tr 5/12 to finish this grid but couldn't. I have given up on the grid at la 4/4. I gave up on the grid after I ea 4/4ed 1997 points. Now I'll ai4/5 my de 4/5 Babble friends with a story of clues. I am an av4/8 fan of my dog Da4/5,but he often gets very sick. My dog has a very weak stomach. Often have to de4/5 with a sick dog. He often ea 4/4 table scraps and gets sick. Not a good id4/5 to le 4/5 your dog to a plate full of meat Hubby is the one who feeds him the table scraps, but when dog gets sick, hubby sits there id4/5 as I clean up the mess. The le 5/10 he could do is hold dog while I am cleaning up. Have always de5/12 w/his sickness with TLC because I realize that it's not his fault that he gets sick. My dog also gets sick if he ri5/12 in the car for too long. Fortunately, his sickness la5/10 for less than 30 minutes. Would be id 5/12 to have a dog that never gets sick, but I wouldn't trade my dog for any other dog in the world. My dog's demeanor is not ta4/4ished when he's sick. He happily wags his ta4/4 even when he's sick. I love him! Dr 4/5! Hubby wants the computer. He thinks I have us4/6 it long enough. Sa 5/16, patience is not one of hubby's vi 5/18es and he can't wait for the laptop. We often become ri5/16 over laptop. If I don't give it to him,he will make a big or 6/21 out of it. I have ri 7/44 with him before over laptop and his or7/32 are not fun, so I'll just give him computer. Oh how I ye 5/14 for another computer. I wish we could buy another laptop on sa4/4 at Se4/4s but the sa 5/10 are never good enough and we can't afford it. Anyway,I am going to get out of this se4/4 and go ir 4/4 some clothes. Then I am going to go ra 4/5 the fridge for a snack. I was not an ed 6/21 and did not ed4/5 story so there may be some mistakes I did not see with my ey4/6. I will see you tomorrow la 6/21 and gentlemen. Goodnight to my fellow babblers.
se + F***** Castro.

Conflict Transformation? I have never heard of that.
theoretically it should le** to a new career
it is the next generation of conflict resolution/peace building
Oh is that like problem solving? We talk about that in my school. School has a whole RTI program at school.
My school does RTI,Second Step, Restorative Circles, etc. You name it we do it. However, it is for students
it is: restorative justice; alternatives to violence and help increase the peace
restorative justice is moving into the school disiplinary systems
I spent a whole day learning about restorative circles

HOLY MACARONI mrpesident!!!!!!
indeedido min! just friggin amazing ... just fueling the problem with my stalker
the Dick and the Mole are backing the lies... it is revolting... and fancy him coming at me for costs for HIS actions against me?? hahahahaha!!!
i also found out his last lawyer dumped him cause they told him he would lose his case... advised him to stop persuing me and he said no... so they dismissed him as a client and now they are chasing him up for the money he owes them! That is why he tried to get money from me before the hearing. I will win my case, he will be paying my lawyer fees and I will be moving where he can't find me
Whenver my life gets old & mundane,I can come here and talk w/you mrpresident.Sorry to hear about that
ah min... just another day in the life of....
small suburbian bullshite
Should not let him chase you out of your home though
desperate housewives of Hornsby Heights... total idiots
I can't do anything else but move min... he is really stalking me... it is scary and almost became a deadly event back in March
oooh, I have to start up a FB page on the desperate housewives of HH! LOL!!!
What a shame to have to give up your home, bummer!
Stalker should have to pay for the cost of that as well
so sleepy not sure if I am going to make it to the flip, lol
indeed he will be min
the judge will see him for what he is... and she will sort it out. I hope she throws his ugly fat arse in gaol really
