Well my family have been begging me to move down there for a while... we just don't see enough of each other. My brother and his b/f live there in W. Hollywood and our mom lives there now too... she works for him. My dad and stepmom are in San Diego and that's a much shorter drive from LA than where I am now. Plus there would be a lot more work for me there -- probably wouldn't have to travel so much. And I'll probably be working for family more too if I make this move, so I really have to.

here's a story..our daughter's bil is a plastic surgeon and he was in the middle of surgery when the power went out and the generators failed to come on so he finished with a flashlight

Ahhh.....yes! We went camping this weekend in the mountains. That is about 45 minutes from here.
here we are fortunate,we go with more grass and trees and imbed those nice round flag stones right into the ground so they seem to almost have grown there,perhaps a nice narrow paving stone path leading under the trees to a nice gazebo by a meandering stream..crossy cannot tolerate arid climates

yes, it doesn't freeze hard here very often, so we can embed into the ground pretty easily -- but we like to put gravel down for drainage, or things tend to sink into the fine silt that is the bulk of our soil.
what a great weekend trip that must have made! I am not a "camper" myself, but I sure wouldn't mind a little cabin in a place like that!

I did it for over two years, 3 nights a week. It was great.
my Tom's folks were too far away for a lot of shared help, but we tried to visit once a month when the kids were little. Once we stopped homeschooling and they moved to the other side of the mountains it became a lot more difficult to visit back and forth.
Ok that is a good thing i suppose. My friends boy has just been admitted to hospital with appendicitis. He went to the doctor this am and in the time it took to call his mum to get him the doctors had him in an ambulance to teh hospital
well that's good. My "co-MIL" is just 45 minutes or so away. We're both looking forward to sharing grandkids!
