12:53 am

thx

12:53 am

all anyone needs to do is have you listed amongst their "Friends" and they can retrieve it at any time

Ugh. No idea why some of it's messed up like that?

12:55 am

i find it helpful to have list in chog - i can compare side-by-side

anyone so inclined.... say a few prayers for us this week... we have had lots of showings lately... really want an offer soon - we think we found the house we want... would appreciate prayers for details to all work out soon :))

12:55 am

found the other co8

Yes, but it got messed up in the chog for some reason, gortmold. I pasted it from a notepad the same as I did to my profile... and it isn't messed up there. Weird.

12:56 am

gort you can compare side by side from lists in profiles as well

the co 8 I have is full of senators... do you have the other one cos?

Maybe I'll post an entry to my blog with the list each day I'm here to do it at flip.

1:02 am

1:02 am

no problem :)

Moved most of my stuff into the new apartment.

Not completely yet, jilli. More or less though.

1:03 am

1:09 am

1:09 am

1:09 am

Also gave me a DVD of Sex and the City -- ugh too.

1:09 am

there's another word for a homerun?

1:10 am

the name of the guy who wrote Odessey

1:10 am

They should know but they thought it would be girly fun, I guess. They were wrong.

1:11 am

just take off the first letter and replace it with the is

1:11 am

1:11 am

The "Babblers Anonymous" link doesn't work?

I was wondering about posting the clues list somewhere... guess that's not an option.

1:31 am

gn6?

g + facial feature [plural]

1:31 am

I have your list Neil, others will also copy it, so if anyone asks there could be someone available to help

I don't see it in your profile flosey?

1:32 am

thoughti'd tried that. thanks

I think I'll post a blog and enter the new lists in there... might be a good idea?

1:32 am

I have a Bab Anon link that works: http://babblersanonymous.yuku. com/

yw pigeonman.

1:32 am

I'll put it there, actually, I created a document

Oh thanks rbud.

1:32 am

I think it changed a while back, someone gave it to me

1:34 am

hello all and tx neil for your list - great help

1:35 am

In my profile now Neil, thanks

1:36 am

1:38 am

finally fireworks and list in my profile in format I usually post

1:47 am

Thanks, neil

1:47 am

congrats volley

1:47 am

congrats, dee.

ty and ty neil

It's still in my profile too, with letter pair groups spaced out.

1:48 am

Do you want the dresses Katie?

Until I can post it on Babbleanon.

my spacing works better if I put it in Excel like ARB taught me

1:49 am

wtg Dee,

here are the instructions she gave me: Instructions from ARB for putting babble grid results into profile: • Copy word list into an Excel spreadsheet (the word, the number of letters and the points go into 5 columns (because of ? for dictionary). • Then insert a column after the word. • Then write a formula in the first line after the word, example - " =left($B1,2)" (the $ makes the formula absolute) • Then copy the formula all the way down (put cursor in bottom right of the top cell with the formula and drag down to end of word list). • Voila you have 3 columns with first 2 letters, length, points

ty flosey

1:49 am

No thanks I'll dig out a suit I've got a big meeting this morning and really not in the mood for it as I found out by a lack of bold on a list that I am not a senior member of the team yesterday - no a good way to find out and not a fair reflection of this years work either! working at home this afternoon to sulk properly

not very equitable treatment, so sorry Katie

And ARB's the authority? I just do the list in notepad and copy and paste it to my profile from there.

1:52 am

sorry about that Katie - will speak to you later

1:52 am

It's ok Dee, it's pride really I still get paid the same but to go from covering for everyone and everything and then find out you now below another 3 people who haven't been doing it was a little disappointing. My Boss is back today so we'll see how she explains that I didn't know.

But the clues aren't in separate letter pair groups that way, Dee... and that makes it easier to see them. At least for me anyway.

no, definitely not, neil... was just sharing how i have been posting in my profile... not a criticism of you ... wow

1:53 am

I should just be grateful that I've got a job and I will be when I get over my sulk lol

Huh? "wow"? Geez, I think you read something into that that wasn't there, to be saying "wow"?

1:53 am

It is easier to see the clues when they are grouped

look at my profile to see the end results... nothing more than just telling you what I have done... you can do whatever is easiest for you. You are way tooo kind by posting so early!!

Sure didn't mean it the way you seem to have taken it.

Exactly, jilli. For me it is, anyway.

great, no problem!!

I hate chat logs.. ... I didn't mean to sound abrupt.

Yeah, if a spreadsheet put the letter pair groups in columns that would be great. Never used one so I don't know how that would work?

I don't have anything like that on here.

1:55 am

so easy for things to sound different than the intention behind it

Yep. Too easy sometimes.

it comes out like the one in my profile now ... when using Excel

1:55 am

Well, I need a bedtime snack and then my pillow so goodnight all and ...*poof

Ok, that's no different from how I do it... except I separate my letter pair groups, to make it easier to see them.

nite jili sleep well

1:56 am

3:38 am

ruby, such intimate invitations!

3:38 am

was just sh**ing....:(

3:38 am

I've got used to it now. Gave up with the colour about a year ago

3:38 am

never much understood the whole issue with greying. I don't care at all. So, I have lots of grey in my hair.

3:39 am

meant the hairstyle! hahah

3:39 am

lol sprite!

3:39 am

I think the big mistake is when women of "a certan age" dye their hair black. It is much less kind to the wrinkles

3:40 am

comes from the same place as the size zero thing sprite

3:40 am

but you almost never see a grey-haired French woman. They can be 100 yrs old, walking with two canes, and they have red hair (or, worse, pink)

3:40 am

black is awful, actually makes people look older, which I guess isn't the intention

3:40 am

I think so too, Kallia. A sad thing. I may be messed up in many a way, but I am pretty comfortable being me and looking like me, which is greying and much overweight.

3:41 am

I sometimes think hard black is only for the very young.

3:41 am

we have a (male) friend who I'm sure dyes his hair black (or else it's a bad toupee) and it is awful

3:41 am

yes very sad, and so sad for youngsters who don't fit the mold, who have such bad self image

3:42 am

we have an Irish friend with a red-haired daughter who went "goth" and dyed her gorgeous red locks pitch black.

3:42 am

the crazy thing is, most youngsters don't fit the mold. And have bad self esteem.

3:42 am

yeah but that's a teenagher beautiful haire phase ruby...she'll come to appreciate

3:43 am

lol rubyfoo, the red that was the envy of most other people... but it will be there when she stops needing the goth.

3:43 am

and her red was ao beautiful

3:43 am

it's funny, because she's a lovely girl, teaches French and skiing, and doesn't act "goth", but has ruined her lovely hair

3:44 am

indeed sprite, but that is the joy we.ve lost...everyone being individual...we are all being programmed lol

3:44 am

not in her own opinion. It is so much fun to DO something like that, daring it and going for what you want.

3:45 am

I have had so many friends of my daughter's here at home already, so insecure, and often pushed down at home even. Like having to go on a diet for just a bit of hip or belly. Crazy stuff.

3:47 am

seems to be the way these days....conform to stereotyped looks or you aren't worth anything

3:48 am

takes a long time to get over the damage that that does!

3:48 am

yeah. I am pretty happy my children are rather headstrong and prefer their own styles. I hope they will always be that way.

3:48 am

yes it does, Kallia :(

3:48 am

I'm sure they will, they have you for a mother after all :)

3:49 am

lol :) And an equally be-my-own-man father, luckily.

3:49 am

well adjusted then :)

3:50 am

I had 2dainty little sisters, younger, and I was the big clumsy one.....

3:50 am

hahahaha... in a way. Though for so4 people we are far from acceptable and adjusted.

3:51 am

did they grow bigger and taller, kalia?

3:51 am

nope, just aged really really badly lol.....

3:51 am

everyone thinks I am the youngest by about 15 years

3:52 am

serves them right! I think we have a choice, as we age, to be a little overweight and have fewer wrinkles or to be a little "chicken old lady" like me

3:52 am

lol... time will even out most scores, won't it. It is so sad, people comparing their children. Each is different, and unless ill, perfect in their own way.

3:52 am

my mother had fewer wrinkles at 85 than I have now

3:52 am

gives me a little satisfaction...I know its unworthy, but still lol

3:53 am

I am severely overweight but I have almost no wrinkles. My sister, 3 years the younger, is much slimmer but also much wrinklier. So I guess you are right.

3:53 am

oh I so agree with you Sprite

3:53 am

hey, their superiority thing was unworthy too. Enjoy the satisfation :D

3:53 am

amen!

3:54 am

my children are all very well adjusted individuals, getting on very well with their own lives, in their own ways

3:54 am

oh btw, i don't mean ill children are not perfect in their own way. I just mean, when they suffer and you can do something about it, of course you should, and do. But no need to 'fix' differences that don't lead to suffering.

3:55 am

Kallia, that is the best 'revenge' of all.

3:55 am

Has Babble Expert given up the ghost? Doesn't seem to have worked for several days.

3:55 am

LOL Sprite I do....and I know you didn't mean that!

3:56 am

my kids get lots of criticism from my sisters .....no idea why, except that they are beautiful, intelligent and their own person

3:57 am

it sounds like you've both done great jobs with your kids. HAVING an only son has made mine very independent and his own man. Of course, he's pretty old now

3:58 am

BTW, he has a new band, sprite, the Bravados. I should have some music in FB soon

3:58 am

so are my kids ruby, old I mean lol

3:58 am

I'm 68 and he's almost 48

3:59 am

same as me then Ruby......my eldest is 50 next month and my youngest is 34

3:59 am

so you were a child bride, too

4:00 am

dpomfr, the one making the clues is not available for unspecified time. The clues won't be done much.

4:00 am

yep, stolen away from my abusive father

4:00 am

great, rubyfoo. I am still enjoying his other CD.

4:01 am

I was stolen from a happy home, much to young to leave my mother!

4:01 am

wow, well done husband, Kallia. Am glad you got away. Was/is the marriage happy?

4:01 am

{{sprite}}, you are so sweet

4:01 am

too*

4:01 am

lol, what is sweet about telling the truth? If it had been awful, I'd have told you too :)

4:02 am

no you wouldn't.....

4:02 am

not really Sprite...too young, but I'vebeen married to my 2nd husband for 37 years, and he is a gem

4:02 am

he is lucky to have found a wife who lets him follow his dream. He is a data-base administrator, but has given it up to play music full-time

4:02 am

but they don't have children

4:02 am

*hugs Kallia* That is just great. You have probably done a lot of 'growing' since. Happy news.

4:03 am

37 years!

4:03 am

every partner should not just allow, but encourage the other one to follow their dream.

4:04 am

I mean news that makes me happy. To see we can overcome our youth problems.

4:04 am

oh I agree with thatwholeheartedly Sprite

4:04 am

she is amazing! Their living room is the studio, full of guitars and sound equipment. She is very frugal and organizes their money but he bought a Les Paul last year

4:04 am

that lady rocks!

4:05 am

yes and problems can be overcome, as I said earlier, sometimes takes a long time, but in the end you get there

4:05 am

amen to that!

4:05 am

yes, she does! and she is a data-base administrator also, working for Dell at the moment, but as an independent contractor

4:05 am

how many years did it take you to leave the first husband, Kalia?

4:06 am

It took me almost 8

4:06 am

well we had 3 kids really quickly....it was 10 years, we just grew apart and he wanted different things...wasn't a good father

4:07 am

fortunately, we only had one, but it still was very hard to leave as I had never lived on my own before

4:07 am

was just never there for either me or the kids after thefirst couple of years

4:07 am

I didn't marry young, I didn't have the courage. Or maybe, looking back, I had the wisdom to know my longtime boyfriend was no husband material. He was abusive, though never physically with me. My husband (of 15 years, yay!) is the best I could wish for and then some.

4:08 am

you were smart to have identified the "wrong" choice early on.

4:08 am

how lonely, Kallia

4:08 am

there's nothing lonelier than a bad marriage!

4:09 am

I like to think some guardian angel sometimes whispers in my ear.

4:09 am

yes wisdom sprite...when you are in a really bad place,it iseasy to mistake feelings, just the longing to get away makes you think its theright thing

4:09 am

time to take a break; see you later, ladies. Thank you for sh**ing your stories with me

4:09 am

yes exactly. I was so very needy back then.

4:09 am

bye for now, rubyfoo

4:10 am

bye Ruby

4:10 am

(poor dpom), falling in with a bunch of chatty women!

4:10 am

{{big hugs}}

4:10 am

hehehe at least I was chatty enough to answer :P

4:11 am

you were lol

4:11 am

but I have to go too,,,thanks for the chat, don't know what came over me, usually don't talk about tese things :)

4:11 am

but it was good:)

4:12 am

later :)

4:12 am

company of like-minded women, no doubt. Thanks Kallia. It means a lot to me, to know it can be done!

4:12 am

see you later :)

4:12 am

you better believe it Sprite....you are woman, hear yourself roar!

4:13 am

rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrroarrrrrrrrrrrrr!

4:13 am

:) bye

4:19 am

tsk, if we can demolish, why can't we molish? Or emolish or remolish?

4:21 am

sounds good sprite:) how many words today?

4:21 am

hi zoom, 206 today

4:22 am

really?! can there be 206 in this grid? is there a list anywhere?

4:22 am

also I am pivish that pivish isn't spelled pivish!

4:22 am

you could check volleymomdee's profile, or negativeneil's to see if they have lists posted.

4:23 am

Does anyone else keep seeing Pharisee?? : )

4:23 am

mmm...pivish is definitely how i'm feeling..:) will do...ty sprite

4:23 am

good luck, zoom, and have fun

4:24 am

hi Uni, yes, that too!

4:25 am

I can vouch for 130 of the words, zoom, btw. So far not a hard grid.

4:25 am

Hi Sprite! I've given myself a time limit...I only get 6 more minutes. I have had smoothish sailing so far

4:25 am

i'm impressed....i only have 69 and starting to stall!

4:26 am

nice, Uni! zoom, it is practice, nothing else. Have been playing this game for ages. My advice for this one is: find the endings and use them for each and every word. :)

4:27 am

thanks for that...will give it a try

4:27 am

time limit, so very wise! Self discipline. Now where did I put mine...

4:28 am

Well, so far it is my compromise so that I can Babble before work, but still do some reading and get ready. We'll see how it goes. : )

4:29 am

you will succeed, Uni.

4:31 am

Good luck all, and I am away. Happy gridding!

4:31 am

have a grand day,Uni :)

evening all

4:34 am

heya mrP *hug*. Was just thinking of you.

((sprite)), how you going?

4:35 am

yeah am ok. And you? And the children?

ok too thanks

4:37 am

any progress in getting the help you need?

lickety came home for the afternoon, went back to hospital a couple of hours ago. Maddi refused to talk to him, see him, or even be in the same house as him. not good

4:38 am

well it is good, actually. You as well as the children have to handle this in your own ways. Maddi is mad and disappointed, and she shows it. I think she is entitled to.

4:39 am

could you handle Lickety being home?

luke, however, listened to everything he had to say and agreed to trust that he would repair all the damage HE has done... but, he cried the whole time his dad was here

Mark got an absolute shock, didn't think maddi would react that way. hmmm, cause she has always been his 'little girl'.

4:41 am

it is very hard on the children. But then again, they are wise enough to know people can break under stress and duress. Nobody is infallible. If they can see that eventually even big bads can be forgiven and people can actually grow from them, it will give them a lot of confidence.

i had to sprite, i was the one that invited him and asked him to explain it all, then go back to hospital and take a good hard look at what we were dealing with...

4:42 am

yeah Lickety has to face the consequences as well. I think you did the right thing. It is his to explain.

was a good move i think... he saw it from where we were standing.

tomorrow, i make some more decisions, one day at a time.

4:43 am

very wise, hun. You have amazing strength, but it is not endless. Am glad you give yourself time to load up in between. How about the help you need?

as in money and housing?

4:44 am

and advice and support too

4:45 am

and hugs, now that I am thinking about it. Lots of hugs.

looked for that, got very little today... and the payment i was expecting didn't come through. it was a tough day really

thanks sprite *hugs*

4:46 am

*holds mrP close and warm* Tomorrow will be better. I hope the payment comes through.

we all have to deal with bloody shit life at times.

4:46 am

yep... the times when life isn't just a bitch, but has lots of puppies.

LOL !! too right

4:48 am

Somebody once paid us their account and attached a note saying "the wolf at the door had puppies and he sold them" hence the payment

4:48 am

and hello all

4:48 am

wow, some statement. Hi ursh!

hi ursh :)

yeah ursh, i might use that!

i have bills piling up... geez!

4:53 am

I can imagine, mrP. Scary :(

I wanna know who said 'the Lord never gives us more than we can handle'... humf!

4:54 am

good morning - thinking of you mrp!! hang in there

sprite, did I tell you what I did?? after thinking about it for 7 days? to the people who introduced lickety to where he ended up?

hi deb! thank you darling... my babble friends are great!! so so happy to have you all

4:55 am

no dear, you didn't? Tell me!

4:55 am

mrP, the one who said that, also added that he measures our cross out to the very millimetre!

i called the 'authorities', and now, his 'friend' has called about 10 times today, cause someone is in jail, and lost their children to welfare services

eye for an eye??? or turn the other cheek?? hmmmm, thought about it carefully and decided 'protect the young and innocent'

4:56 am

people pushing that kind of stuff must be in jail, and however bad the welfare can be, it is still better than being with a parent like that. Sorry to be judgmental, but I mean it.

well sprite, God gave me strength, cause I could be in a shitload of trouble, if it were not for annonymous... even though the 'authorities' knew exactly who I was, they left my name out of everything.

4:58 am

hey, if you can vent a bit of your anger toward the people who deserve it, it is not a bad thing. No need to be holier than we are.

4:58 am

very wise. You don't need any extra trouble.

you know what is the best thing that came out of all this shit??? the best thing???

4:58 am

now?

4:59 am

I mean what?

My husband found his spirituality... he has finally found God and believes that there is someone greater than HIMSELF! That, is, amazing!

4:59 am

yay for him!!! :)

4:59 am

oh that is wonderful. That will help him more than anything.

that is the most positive and amazing and blessed thing to come out of all this... he is coming to my church now... my Dad always said it would eventually happen, but would take something big for it to happen.

yes, he is drawing strength from God now... that is just fantastic!! I am so happy about that.

5:02 am

I am glad. Eventually, things will work out. I only wish there was a way to make the road a bit easier on you all.

5:03 am

hehehe am picturing Lickety, feeling for the first time how real that strength feels. That is such a great thing.

5:04 am

MrP - I wonder if the facility he is in practises the AA 12 Step Programme - which is a very spiritual programme in itself ??

5:05 am

so very true, ursh

5:06 am

Step 1. We admitted we were powerless over alcohol - that our lives had become unmanageable.

5:07 am

Step 2. Came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity.

5:07 am

looks like Lickety did both steps already

5:09 am

Yes sprite the first 3 steps are a reaching out for help - which is great

5:10 am

actually, that would work for most crises, wouldn't it

5:11 am

AA believes you can adapt the programme for any kind of life problem not only addiction

brb, dad is on phone

5:11 am

from what I know about it, they are right.

5:12 am

I know a couple of recovered alcoholics and always thought they were such lovely people because they had been to hell and back but since becoming involved in Al Anon I have realised that they "live" their 12 steps every single day

5:13 am

I would take the company of people who have been through hell and back over that of people who never had a hard time anyday.

5:15 am

Yeah sprite surviving hard times does make us humble and grateful and therefore happy

5:15 am

and often less judgemental too.

5:16 am

oh yes definitely

5:21 am

hey lady *hug*

Sorry if I just bugger off :(

5:22 am

np hun

my dad is having difficulties with lickety's 'path' to sobriety... oh well, he is hurt too.

Mr Pres is it just alchole?

Excuse my typing

5:23 am

yes, everybody is hurt, it is only understandable. *hugs*

Sorry

5:28 am

brb

no infern, but the 12 step program is helping him

Sorry to pry

5:29 am

mr p! so good to see u... your strenght is amazing

5:32 am

hi ivesy

hi ieves :)

5:32 am

(am back, btw, but I guess you knew that)

5:32 am

morning sprite.

5:33 am

sensed it lol

5:33 am

:)

Hi Iveys

5:33 am

hi herein...

Anyone got a suggestion for Jet Lag?

5:34 am

mr p.. my son has been in rehab 3x.. so i can relate to the tears, anger. etc..

5:35 am

not really, lady, except the ones that are always given: adapt your time to the time of arrival straight from the start, try to keep awake until sleeping time in the new time, drink a lot of water.

5:35 am

how hard, ivesy. How is he now?

I have basically jet lag because of stupid daylight savings

5:36 am

he is clean and sober for over a year.. but i so wish he would follow the 12 steps and reach for his higher power.

oh boy ives... i have another babble friend who has the same thing... so many times!

i personally don't understand how he is on a methadone program for 5 years now!!

5:37 am

it is much more common than you'd think, mrP. You are not alone in this. And there is no shame attached.

5:38 am

I think it is great he is staying clean and sober, ivesy. And trust that he will reach for that power once he is ready.

5:38 am

all we can do mrp.. is be there for them. and try to trust them. which is prob. the hardest thing to do.

yes, lickety is really trying hard to get to that higher power, and stop thinking selfishly that he is his own strength and everything is just luck or the role of a dice.

5:39 am

ty sprite. we just take it day to day.

5:39 am

they always say, have to hit rock bottom first .

ok, have to go for a bit... bbs :)

5:39 am

bye mrP *hugs*

5:39 am

take care there mrp.. we are here for u!

5:40 am

it is true, ivesy. Have seen it happen so often.

Bye Pres

5:41 am

saw it with my son sprite.. when he started to look for cocaine, he knew it was time. thk god he didnt find any.

5:42 am

omg indeed. Such an ugly drug.

Im just going to lurk on the grounds I am probably going to be snarky

5:43 am

I have a friend who actually used heroine with needles... they say once you get there, there is no way back. But he came back and has been clean for over 15 years now.

5:43 am

*hugs lady* I love you, snarky and lurking and all.

5:44 am

lots of strength needed. but people do get clean

5:45 am

someone here said there is no way out but through. I think that is so true. It can be done, if you are willing to take every step, one by one.

I think it is best I stay quiet adn know that you all have my thoughts and supports as my personal oppinions will not help

5:48 am

I think all opinions have an equal place and right to be there. But in the end, opinions is all we can give.

5:48 am

only the person in the situation can see every aspect, and often even that is hard.

true.

5:50 am

each indiviudal handles it in their own way.i have heard many diff. opinions. i dont let them affect me. i listen.sometimes someone outside of the matter can see things more clearly.

5:51 am

and it is my opinion that i need coffee lol..

5:52 am

If I can, I try to see every opinion als a potential inspiration. Though I often have trouble handling criticism, taking it too personally. But am learning.

5:55 am

coffee sounds good to me.

Toast and milo sounds good to me

5:56 am

:)

5:56 am

going back to bed sounds good to me

5:57 am

lunch here

5:57 am

hey wildcat. Sleep well then :)

Going to bed sounds better once my stomach decides to not be crappy

5:57 am

I wish sprite but it's not my reality

5:58 am

I have to work

5:58 am

aw that s*cks. *sends wildcat a load of energy to help her get through work*

5:59 am

ty :)

Wild call in ''sick?

6:01 am

I wish. I'm a teacher - sub plans are more work than actually going in

Drat

6:01 am

especially on this short of notice

6:02 am

cancel everything else and promise yourself a very early night? Cuddle in bed with a book and allow yourself to drift to sleep very early?

6:02 am

there's a good possibility

Try. And teachers do such a good job

6:03 am

might help you through the day, knowing you will be able to rest up and let go in a couple of hours.

6:03 am

another good possibility

6:04 am

that and babbling during lunch

6:04 am

yeah!

6:05 am

well thank you for the encouragement. off to face the day and will be back soon

6:06 am

bye wildcat, and good luck!

Bye Wild

Sprite is it quiet now at home?

6:08 am

it is and I treasure it

Yah

6:10 am

6:56 am

Did you know that hairspray gets ink off leather couches

7:00 am

no I didn't know that

7:01 am

herin, to think I was wasting my time playing Babble

Me either

7:01 am

hi bichon

Aparently it half works

Hi Bichon

7:02 am

hello there, another day of using all of my brain cells to the max. At 65, good exercise

7:02 am

yes it's a good one, isn't it

7:03 am

phantom digress

7:03 am

all I have left are S-s. Not strange if you realise almost 1/4 of the grid are S-s.

We wouldn't be silly enough to have leather in this house

7:03 am

good one

We have cats they love the couches

7:07 am

one of my fluffs goes through DH's pockets for Pup-A-Roni he puts in there. Amazing

7:07 am

oh smarty!

Awwww. We bought this fish toy that had netting in the bottom were you put the cat treats. The point is the cat paws out the food via the mouth. NOT Lucius . He just ate the mesh

7:09 am

hahahah

It took him under 30 min to do this.We should have known he was destructor cat

7:10 am

lol herin - sounds just like what my Whisky boy would do - the hell with all this messing around - just eat it all

7:11 am

the other fluff eats my ear plugs. Then he poops the orange day-glo things

7:11 am

oh mine too, bichon!

7:12 am

They sleep most of the day when they are not getting into mischief

http://tinyurl.com/3clultj it was this little thing

What is with that Bichon

7:13 am

Dogs are much smarter than us humans. They know the good life and how to get it

7:14 am

cool toy,lady

Yep. Our cats just hog the bed

7:14 am

and they know how to live in the moment

Hi Bichon

BYE BIchon

7:18 am

morning friends

7:18 am

Triffles! *hugs*

TRIIFFFFEIS

7:20 am

I am *such* a glum chum this morning! I have a script I need to finish by...welll....NOW and I am totally stuck. Just can't get it together. taking a break to babble, and hoping a word in the grid may spark something and I will get it finished. Mostly just avoiding the task altogether (how helpful!)

7:20 am

poor Trif, I know that feeling. *sends an inspiring muse to Trif*

7:21 am

thanks sprite!

Um Any help you need?

7:23 am

nah, but thank you herin. a lot of my problem is just general malaise with regards to the kids in this particular workshop. Just not really a warm, happy bunch, and I don't love the theme they picked either, so the whole piece has a rather b*tchy vibe to it, that is probably rather inappropriate for a children's play....lol

7:23 am

nah, children love bitchy. Go for it.

What is the theme and can you put a possitive spin on it?

7:24 am

trust me, THESE ones do!

7:24 am

fireflies! *hugs* to you all and have fun.

7:24 am

morning all, helpwith p words pls

7:24 am

huzzah for sprite!

A new girl has moved to town and challenges her, and rallies the kids against her and the villian gets punished and can't we all get along, blah blah blah friendship is most important and oh yeah, be yourself, everyone! and I just threw up in my mouth a little

O Highschool Musical hu?

7:27 am

it is supposed to be like Glee, actually. I need to throw in about 5 or 6 songs too.

BLERK

7:28 am

yup. and it's due - full script with songs lyrics and a CD by six tonight. and I am working from 1 to 5

7:29 am

DO you have to have original songs?

Hi Sue

7:54 am

Good morning Boobear!

7:54 am

good morning everyone:)

7:55 am

Hi Crossy

7:55 am

good morning Crossy!

7:55 am

who has a list?

7:56 am

i vaguely recall a horse named Phar Lap..but i guess "Phar' was just random. I can't get any Egyptian ruler either, just a beacon.

7:58 am

phar lap was a good movie and so was ildalgo

Yes there was a horse called Phar Lap. His pelt is in Melbourne and the heart is in Canbera

7:58 am

good horsie movies

7:59 am

Good day buddies.

7:59 am

Good morning Scrabbler!

SCRABBLE

8:00 am

scrabby:)

8:00 am

Hi kids.

8:01 am

Crossy, I will be spending the afternoon in Ontario at Niagara-on-the-Lake. We'll paddle in Lake Ontario and the Niagara River.

Miss seeing you Scrabbler

8:02 am

I've been here but I no longer finish grids unless they are small. I aim for halfway.

8:02 am

very nice, too bad you can not come up here, would kayak you round our bit of georgian bay..you can even see some old submerged wrecks

8:03 am

but the water has a 2 foot chop right now..so not today:(

8:03 am

I must come further north someday, Crossy. How far are you from Toronto?

8:04 am

2.5 hours north on the town of collingwood on georgian bay, right at the base of blue mtn

8:04 am

So 4.5-5 hrs from here. I must do that!

8:04 am

<---- getting into car with map....

8:05 am

Car, meet me in Buffalo and then we'll cross the border into Canada.

8:05 am

ROAD TRIP!!!!!!!

8:05 am

sadly you have missed most of our good canoeing and kayaking season for this year..we have 2-3 more weeks at most, then it starts getting ugly

8:05 am

ill put brekkies on

I vote road trip but I think I will win on most distance traveled

8:06 am

ok, sorry, I wandered off a bit!

8:06 am

I agree Herin!

8:06 am

you would herin

8:06 am

We will get our first snow within the next 2 wks or so but it won't stick on the ground.

8:06 am

hi, crossy, herin, scrabs!

8:06 am

I need help with the i please?

8:06 am

herin, we can stop at Niagara Falls for a visit there.

8:06 am

wb sue,all the girls are coming up for breakkies, climb aboard!

Erk snow

8:07 am

and car, I am doing well, way behind in everything as usual :-)

8:07 am

Hi Sue! How are classes for you and Leo?

8:07 am

I'm in, crossy!

8:08 am

pretty good, scrabs, Leo is struggling with time management but I think he is doing better than in the past

8:08 am

he's also feeling a bit stifled; it's tough to be living at home when you are 21

8:08 am

That is OK....I know you will catch up!

8:08 am

It's tough living at home when you are 43!!!

8:08 am

looking for the last "P" word and that'll be it for the day..

8:09 am

lol, car!

8:09 am

I only have 1 P word...sorry bob.

8:09 am

...and that is ph***s of the moon

8:09 am

I have agreed to teach an honors seminar in the spring (honors students have to take an upper-division seminar outside their major) - I decided to do sports physics

8:09 am

I draw a pie chart for adolescents--168 hrs in a week. The challenge is to keep the wedges at appropriate sizes, i.e. do not allow "social life" to dominate. Keep sleep and school wedges at right sizes.

8:10 am

don't ask me why, I guess I was hoping it would be interesting

8:10 am

Good for you Sue!

8:10 am

yeah, he doesn't want anybody drawing his pie charts, scrabs :-)

8:10 am

Oooh! Just got ph6/24

8:10 am

and he is working, too, sometimes on short notice - he does audio and video for the school of music

8:11 am

As a longtime tennis player (college too) I am fascinated with the elements of physics in tennis!

8:11 am

Sue...I don't have a fancy phone...what is your icon?

8:11 am

I am not much on sports myself, but the physics is interesting :-)

8:11 am

That's part of becoming a responsible adult--creating a balanced pie chart.

8:11 am

what shall i make for 10 starving women??...lets see3 jumbo farm eggs each so that is 33 eggs..i shall scramble them in a hot buttered pan and add some slivers of smoked ham, some diced sweet valencia onions and just before they hit the plate i shall shread some 5 year old quebec apple wood smoked cheddar, then some nice peameal bacon slices and a mound of english muffins with apple jelly or 3 fruit marmalade, then to wash it all down some earl grey tea or maybe a nice frosty glass of no pulp oj

8:11 am

Good afternoon all.....hope we are all well n happy!! Is the grid friendly today?

8:11 am

I've already been looking for books - there are a lot on individual sports but I want a more general one

8:12 am

<---- drooooooooool

8:12 am

hi, flask! don't know about the grid but the chat is nice :-)

8:12 am

Hello Flask1

May I please switch my muffin for a waffle?

8:12 am

sound ok?

8:12 am

hello, back from a rather severe haircut

8:12 am

Hi Pinny! Hi Ruby!

8:12 am

All good for me except the meat, Crossy, so that means more for everyone else. And I like pulpy OJ--I like to chew my OJ, haha.

8:12 am

{{crossy}}

8:12 am

sounds great, crossy!

8:12 am

mm,i have not made wafles in years...

Hi friends!

8:12 am

now my head really looks like an orange!

8:12 am

(((RUBY)))

Someone needs to make me toast. O that is right someone is in bed

8:12 am

Severe haircut...do you like the haircut?

8:13 am

ruby, severe as in awful or just a lot chopped off?

ivid

loops

8:13 am

I'll take the Earl Grey - never did grow up when it comes to pulpy orange juice

I mean 'oops'

8:13 am

not to worry scrabby i can make you some sans muscle and flesh lol

8:13 am

Doesn't work for me, Pinny.

8:13 am

Crossy, if there's enough for me too, I'll take it as it comes...and thankyou!!!

Hi anyone I missed too

8:13 am

i said no pulp..hate the pulp myself

8:13 am

hi, ruby, now you can be like those French women who always wear scarves - I think it's a genetic talent, I could never do anything with them

8:13 am

phooey no pharohs..As a long time and very VERY mediocre player i've run into a number of articles over the years on the physics of tennis. Didn't help my game any.

8:14 am

I don't know anyone that likes pulp.

8:14 am

hi bob

8:14 am

Me either Sue! I am a scarft NERD!

I do Scrabbler

BRB need to get tea and toast

8:14 am

Yeah, I read a book on the physics of golf, and it didn't do me any good either (of course I had only ever played one round). Was interesting, though.

8:14 am

Does anyone have a clue for the i?

8:15 am

you see it all the time in the stores..i ahve always wondered who buys it scrabby

8:15 am

sue--you can create a fascinating course by discussing the mechanics of each sport. Vector forces, trajectories, body motion, etc.

8:15 am

I bought some yesterday, Crossy.

8:15 am

that's, aham, 11 starving women, crossy

8:15 am

Teach a scarf tying / styling course instead!

8:15 am

yes, that was my plan, scrabs

8:16 am

I do have a book on the physics of the human body

8:16 am

the art(or insanity) of golf and physics are kissing cousins at best, not only is it a good walk spoiled, the game seems to be bonded with murphys set of laws

8:16 am

when I had chemo, I was very adept at scarves but I gave them all away to another woman who needed them after my hair came back

8:16 am

And swimming will teach hydrodynamics!

8:16 am

Sue there's a book calledball games for women written by Sue Mott......am featured in it!!!

8:16 am

funny Crossy

8:16 am

Wow! Great Flask!

8:17 am

lol ruby, during my chemo,i wore a bunch of those biker head scarves

8:17 am

Cool, Flask

8:17 am

I bought a fancy wig, but it looked ridiculous; my head disappeared

8:17 am

i never even considered a wig

8:18 am

I had to cover my head because I was working through the whole ordeal

8:18 am

ok lets see how long I take to get nbt/nbs....

8:18 am

even travelled to see customers

8:19 am

not that it mattered during treatments, everyone around me was bald, when allowed home for the weekend at the end of the first month a biker head scarf was fine..as i was not too fashion concious anyways with my head in the toilet 20 out of 24 hours:/

8:19 am

oars

8:19 am

secs

8:19 am

as a reasonably OK swimmer it WAS discouraging to realize that being tall/long was an advantage above and beyond being that much closer to the end...And over the decades i've gotten sig. shorter..sigh.

8:19 am

Special hugs to all of you who have fought cancer {{hug}} You are amazing!

8:19 am

oops!...bad start....lol

8:19 am

I was very lucky, never got sick from the (strong) chemo

8:19 am

cool, flask! (about being in the book)

8:20 am

gads! i was so ill..

8:20 am

I'll see if it's in our library, would be cool to check it out :-)

8:20 am

thanks....

8:20 am

I would have chemo, go to MacD's, sleep for the rest of the day and go to work in the morning

8:20 am

ice water, gatorage and ensure drinks from the pharmacy

8:20 am

your chemo must have been stronger

8:20 am

went from 240 to 160(my ideal is 185)

8:21 am

There are now some effective anti-nausea meds, crossy.

8:21 am

the only thing that sickened me was gin, so no martinis during that period

8:21 am

they added atavan to my drip at my request and maybe that's why I wasn't sick

8:22 am

ok, have words from more than half the tiles (which means I still have 7 blank ones), time to go to work!

8:22 am

lol ruby, there is a cancer diet joke in that while undergoing cheom, you can eat all the junk food you wish...(as you wish none of it)

8:22 am

Bye Sue

8:22 am

i had a small iv of anti nausea as well...may as well of been koo-aide

8:22 am

cool

8:22 am

{{sue}}

8:22 am

Bye Sue! Have a great day!

8:22 am

I still don't even have half and no 8's or the 9 or nbt

8:22 am

a single slice of toast becomes an adventure

8:23 am

all play and no work makes ruby a dull girl!

8:23 am

I have 57 and no 7's.8's or 9's

8:23 am

but that is in the past, lets move on to happier things

8:23 am

I have 1 8....co 8/55

8:23 am

Crossy and Ruby...you are here with us today and that makes me very happy!

No matter what one says tea and toast made by someone else tastes better

8:24 am

me, too, car. Every day is a gift!

8:24 am

we are happy to be here with you as well car

8:24 am

I have 118 words, no 9 and still need the i for NBT...UGH!

8:24 am

You are resilient and tough!

8:24 am

lol herin, everything tastes better when someone else is the cook

8:24 am

I lost my boss 2 days ago to some vile cancer-like illness.

8:24 am

found the co8, ty car.

8:25 am

how old washe?

8:25 am

in her 50's.

8:25 am

Some cancers are so ruthless--pancreatic, esophageal, ovarian, melanoma

8:25 am

Honestly, Scrabbler, the doctors never seemed to put a name on it.

8:25 am

I lost my best friend to bone cancer when she was in her 50's -- horrible

8:25 am

and one last cancer not..regular tap water.i love my water and will drink 6 or 7 bottle a day, sadly cisplatin make water taste bad.you actually sweat and taste the chemo..(crossy shudders at the memory of the taste)

8:26 am

Oh Crossy...that is horrible.

8:26 am

I wonder why, car?

8:26 am

I think cisplatin is what they use for ovarian C; no wonder you were sick, {{crossy}}

8:27 am

aah, just found two of sue's physics words

Later guys

8:27 am

At first it was referred to as a rare blood disorder and she had a marrow transplant and all sorts of treatment. Lately, they had been thinking leukemia.

8:27 am

Bye herin

8:27 am

Bye Herin!

8:28 am

bye herin, I didn't see you

Try and have a great day guys

I was here

and now I am not

8:28 am

curled up in a ball 3 weeks of the month..but mine was nothing as at the princess margerette lodge where i stayed,i saw children, just small children, some hundreds andd hundreds of miles from home..rips ones heart out

8:28 am

There is a spectrum of blood dysplasias-leukemia-lymphoma.

8:28 am

Oh God Crossy....my greatest fear.

8:28 am

oh, so sad!

8:29 am

The world of pediatric oncology is a frightening one, although now about 80% of kids get cured. The process of getting cured is hard for parents to observe. Kids are quite resilient.

8:30 am

making up stories and planning a childs fun times for "when she gets out" when you know from the nurse she has brain cancer and some tumor lodged in the centre of her brain the size of a lemon and she smiles up at you as the all knowing adult..brb..must make tea...

8:30 am

Brain tumors are just plain awful.

8:32 am

cough..ok kettle is on.time to talk about fun things..maybe i should streak the chog:))

8:32 am

I really can't handle the thought of sick children. When I was pregnant, I was taking a CPR course. When it came time to do the child portion, I kind of flipped out just thinking of a child in such a severe position.

8:33 am

I truly have PTSD from my experiences over the years--dying kids, death, etc.

8:33 am

please, I would love that! in the 70's I had a boyfriend who streaked once,; it was inter and he wore a stocking cap and workboots!

8:33 am

any clues please for the i in th top row please?

8:34 am

winter*

8:34 am

there is a special place for you and for others who care for sick children in Heaven Scrabs.

8:34 am

i shall wear my toque ruby;)

8:34 am

I gave up on that i, flask

8:34 am

I have been desperately trying to get it!

8:34 am

I'm pretending the i isn't there

8:35 am

lol....

8:35 am

We pay a price, car. I have a list in my head of so many dear, deceased kids. Damien, Joshua, Mark....I don't want to forget them.

8:35 am

can't get nbt without it....

8:35 am

{{Scrabs}}

8:35 am

scrabs, I think we all carry lists of our deceased loved ones, however they died

8:35 am

Morning All

8:36 am

but agree about the special place in heaven for you!

8:36 am

Oh, yes, Ruby.

8:39 am

Lisa Juarez 7:49pm Oct 3 Hey babblers! This is wildcat17. I'm starting a collection for MrP, similar to the one we all did for Jellen last year. I'm using the same website, ChipIn, for donations. Once I have a reasonable amount I will purchase a Visa gift card and send everything to MrP. I know there have to be others out there like myself, who want to do something to help. Any amount is welcome. Please spread the word to other babblers. The link is here and in my babble profile. 8:52 am

pita is paypal but for mrp,i shall give it a spin

8:52 am

I use it all the time Crossy.

8:52 am

what is wrong with paypal, something we should know?

8:53 am

No problems yet.

8:53 am

perhaps it has gotten better last 2 years

8:53 am

Poof!

8:53 am

8:56 am

8:57 am

8:59 am

8:59 am

ah, it wants me to use paypal if I have an account

9:00 am

9:00 am

fortunately I have many email addresses...

9:01 am

dammit

9:01 am

What is paypal

9:01 am

and I think Enable spells it aargh, I've seen it in the grid before

9:01 am

it is a stroke in the making for anyone north of the border boo

9:01 am

Boo, a way to pay $ while on line, instead of cedit card

9:02 am

Ah, yes. The old double A. So common.

9:02 am

Ok

9:02 am

isn't tea a wonderful thing?

9:03 am

it is and i am gonna have a cuppa before i kill something

9:04 am

scrabby, you have an office site,if i sent you a U.S money order, would you be willing to pass it along to the collection site for mrp for me??

9:04 am

you could probably email lisa and get a mailing address

9:04 am

that as well

9:05 am

I will not use Paypal but I can mail a check/checque to Featherbee.

9:05 am

i shall have a tea and mull it over..wildcat right?

9:05 am

Or I can get wildcat's address and send it to her.

9:05 am

9:06 am

9:06 am

9:06 am

Free clue! Don't miss it!

9:08 am

It's so pretty, Crossy! I think I have a 5 upstairs and then lots of coins! Maybe a loonie or two-nie!

9:08 am

9:10 am

I am at 103/103

9:10 am

i have 173.

9:10 am

btw, did anyone notice that the Nobel prize in physics was awarded to the guys who discovered that the expansion of the universe is accelerating?

9:10 am

I'm at the point where I need another cup of coffee.

9:11 am

104/102 so I must get ready for my daytrip to Canada. Bye kids. Enjoy the day!

9:11 am

probably the biggest new discovery in cosmology since the discovery that the universe is expanding in the first place

9:11 am

bye, scrabs! Have a great day!

9:11 am

i just learned about the Ig Nobel prizes

9:11 am

Sue, I cannot even comprehend the size of the Grand Canyon let alone an expanding universe!

9:11 am

Yeah, sue. They've prooved "The Big Zoom" theory. *covers head and waits for raining tomatoes*

9:12 am

The Ig Nobel prizes are VERY funny.

9:12 am

the Ig Nobel prizes are given to research that makes you laugh and then makes you think

9:12 am

and I can't really comprehend the size of the universe either but it is fun to try

9:12 am

ga 6/27 plz

9:12 am

a yale psych guy just got one for showing that having to pee really badly makes it hard to think. well i could have told you that. it's apparently equivalent to being drunk or sleep-deprived.

9:13 am

I saw that, hurshy :-)

9:13 am

Phhfth. Makes you think how much money was wasted on that "duh" research.

9:13 am

it also mentioned a previous one that i appreciated - cows who have names give more milk than cows who don't.

9:14 am

ack - i am getting so involved in the chat that I am forgetting to put my lecture on my thumb drive - cut it out, you guys!

9:14 am

Leave it to us to distract you with thumbthing thtupid.

9:36 am

12:45 pm

but enjoy playing it anyway

12:46 pm

Jacula has beaten me at every game of words with friends

12:46 pm

I like the words with friends grid better than lexulous. it is bigger and brighter and easier to see

12:47 pm

I miss Scramble

12:47 pm

mrp and dcseain have beated me every game

I liked scramble too...I play another game that is similar to scramble - wordsplay.net

12:48 pm

in words with friends. I have never played lexulous

12:48 pm

I'm used to lexulous, particularly like the blitz rooms

12:48 pm

I have played wordsplay too. do you play it as part of a team or solo

12:48 pm

I'll have to check that out sometimes

12:49 pm

12:49 pm

not likiing this grid, bbl

12:50 pm

good night everybody with 89 left....

12:50 pm

I play solo - usually start with the 4x4 grid and then depending on my mood with switch over to the 5x5. I do better on 4's. I use the same username there. There are a couple babble people there - poodletoes and lexophile

12:51 pm

I have teamed up with poodletoes a couple times but we do not use babble in our team name. We combine our own game names

12:51 pm

good night ((ruby))

Hi crossy. The grass is greening nicely as if it never was wheat color a week ago.

7:31 pm

howdy stidmere,we have had frost 3 times now:/

7:32 pm

Hello stidgmere! How are you doing? Welcome to grid.

7:32 pm

We are behind you in the frost category. Our middle-of-the-road weather has seemed pretty good when compared across the U.S.

7:32 pm

but yes is it wonderfully green..for the moment

7:33 pm

hi everyone. visiting for a little while before sleep

7:33 pm

what is nice is we are having sunny highs of 55 or 60f and the maples are bursting with fall colours, the umber and oranges and reds and the air is so crisp and clear in the morning you can stand on top of blue mtn, look out over the bay and almost see forever

7:33 pm

howdy eva

7:34 pm

colors are still very muted here

7:34 pm

Hi Eva.

7:34 pm

I can see and feel the morning view as you describe it, Crossy.

7:36 pm

stid mere you would love it,the crisp morning breeze bringing out the roses in your cheeks and you just need a nice cable knit sweater for the dawn as the sun breaks and the fog slowly comes of the hill and the panoramic view opens before you and the falling leaves dance around you and on the wind you can smell our apples being harvested in the farms below you

7:38 pm

We harvested (well, picked) the apples from our two trees this week. I've made an apple pie and apple sauce. I also found a good recipe for pear crumble. We are so blessed with bountiful crops.

7:38 pm

the air so clean and crisp as you take it in,you can almost feel it energizing you for the day

7:38 pm

Hello Eva! How are you doing? Welcome to the puzzle.

7:39 pm

we have a hybrid variety here called goldencrisp..they are a wonder..1 apple=1 pie!

7:39 pm

they are the size of my 2 fists!

7:39 pm

we some some at the market at the egg farm today

7:40 pm

hi Min...thank you. Serpentine just seemed too crowded and speedy tonight so I came back home to nice leisurely babble

7:40 pm

mmmm@ pear crumble...

7:40 pm

mmmm -any kind of crumble

7:40 pm

I need several apples to make a pie. I've a Queen Cox very small tree and a Dutch apple that I can never remember the name because it starts with a K but then goes all wobbly in my mind.

7:40 pm

wb eva, some days babble feels like a nice pair of slippers and a comfy chair:)

7:41 pm

yes indeed

7:41 pm

We contemplated a fire in the fireplace but it isn't really cool enough for that.

7:42 pm

do you do the pies dutch style then, with the crumble on top?

7:42 pm

crossy loves those

7:42 pm

had to make a fire here today-or turn on the heat and really too early for that!

7:42 pm

I ar 5/10 out of bed early this morning and put my no 4/4 to the grid. It took me ae5/10 amount of time to find 159 words. Was not able to babble with great ea 4/4 today so I gave up.Now here's a story of clues to sh 5/12 with you. When I was little, I went through a ph5/14 where I was in love with John Travolta. My Gr 4/6dmother took me to see the film "Gr 6/24" during the Winter se6/18. The movie was my favorite movie It has been eo 4/4 since I saw the film but I have not er5/10 lines from the film, which I memorized. When I was little, I would co4/6 home and watch the movie after school. Everytime I watched the movie,I sa4/6 all the songs along w/Travolta.My sister would ha4/7 her head, cover her ea4/4 and gr5/14 as she listened to me sing all of the so 4/6s, but I did not care at all. I also loved listening to the musical sc5/12 of the film Actually,I spent a gr5/14 amount of time staring at a John Travolta poster in my bedroom. I would say "I'm going to marry you so4/5 day Mr. Travolta".Husband who always di4/5es Babble,is being a big ar4/4 and lo 4/6s to use this laptop. It ce5/12s to amaze me how he always co5/14 into this office & wants this laptop shortly after I start chatting in the chog. It bothers me to the co4/5 of my being. Wish I could sh 4/6 him out to sea. I know that he has no good re6/18 to use computer. He wants to play Farmville. If I don't lo4/4 it to him, he will lo 4/4 his temper and get li 5/18. He lo 5/10 his temper and gets me 4/5 everytime I don't give him the computer. I'm at a lo4/4 for words when husband begins screaming and yelling. His nasty tone makes me sh4/8er. I'll give it to him. I do not want to make a me 4/5 of things. I am going to go wash some di 4/6es. Then I'm going to go watch the film "Lo6/24 Run".Then I'm going to goto bed and hopefully sn5/10 so loud it keeps my husband awake all night.Goodnite!

7:42 pm

No, I just make a regular crust on the top of the apples but you are inspiring me, Crossy. Why not says I?

7:42 pm

ty for the wonderfull story min:)

7:43 pm

indeed stidmere!

7:43 pm

dutch apples shhould have a dutch style topping says i:)

7:44 pm

and while still warm and on the plate,a single scoop of top end french vanillia ice cream or a small wedge of wendslydale cheese

7:45 pm

or some other nice sharp cheddar

7:45 pm

We certainly can do the ice cream but the wendeslydale cheese is new. Is it a cheddar?

7:45 pm

You answered my question already crossy.

7:46 pm

it is a lovely dlae cheese much loved in the uk

7:46 pm

My mouse has died, I shall have to find some batteries. Excuse my departure.

7:48 pm

we have a lovely custom cheese shoppe here called dags and willows

7:50 pm

wonderful story min!

7:50 pm

when you reach this level of cheese insanity, you go to shops like this and the small weges are astounding in price, but amazing in quality and the art of removing a wedge from the main cheese wheel becomes an event lol

7:51 pm

stop already! You're making e ravenous.

7:52 pm

you sneak this home like a guilty illegal drug and lock yourself in your room with some crackers,a glass of vino and one of those wooden cheese knifes so you do not insult the cheese with a metal implement

7:52 pm

I really love double Gloucester with chives

7:52 pm

we do have some incredible cheddar here in vermont

7:52 pm

ahh a real soft cheese

7:53 pm

crossy? a woodeb cheese knife? I never heard of one of those

7:53 pm

vermont cheddar is known here also eva

7:53 pm

joey, you can actually order glass knives now

7:54 pm

they are made of white glass and hold a sharper rdge than any metal

7:54 pm

edge

7:54 pm

I have seen glass knives. Just never a wooden one. Wooden spoons, yes. wow - so muh I don't know

7:54 pm

let me get u a link

7:54 pm

all this talk of food and cheese! I'm off to the gym!

7:54 pm

yes,wooden knife just for cheese

7:54 pm

how can you tell the difference between a bad cough with cold and pneumonia?

7:55 pm

night sweats

7:55 pm

I shall buy a new mouse. Maybe I'll just get a nice wedge of cheese and entice a mouse to my computer. Nothing too fancy though. Rats!

7:55 pm

you can cure pneumonia. lol

7:55 pm

radiographs, eva

7:55 pm

with pneumonia, you feel like you are breathing through a straw for one thing

7:55 pm

had pneumonia last year never been that sick before

7:56 pm

sometimes, joey. sometimes not--pneumonia kills a lot of people

7:56 pm

and if you are not sure get it looked into, ignored pneumonia can scar the lungs

7:56 pm

Well, time to pull the potatoes and dinner from their pots. Take care of yourselves and enjoy the Babble companions.

7:56 pm

tc stidmere

7:56 pm

good answers! My brother who is a doctor has been nudging me to get the pneumonia vaccine since I am over 60.

7:56 pm

enjoy supper, stidgmere

7:57 pm

I think this is more like bronchitis.

7:57 pm

Thanks for the story, Min. I got several words from it.

7:57 pm

i got it and im not over 60. never want to be that sick again. it gets worse at night

7:57 pm

it hurts to breath especially in your upper back.

7:58 pm

I don't seem to be wheezing too much-just attacks of wrenching coughing. This too shall pass

7:58 pm

I didn't know that jesdraggon. thanks for the info - but no thanks for ruining a wive's tale . lol

7:59 pm

yes-my brother said that shingles (the other recommended vaccine) will just make you feel like killing yourself, but pneumonia really can

7:59 pm

i'm not much fun, joey, sorry. always bursting bubbles :)

7:59 pm

hope I didn't upset you - it was all in fun from my side

7:59 pm

if in doubt, eva, get chest rads. much less expensive than hospital stays for pneumonia

8:00 pm

I'm sure dinner will be delicoud

8:00 pm

ty

8:00 pm

ignore that please.

8:00 pm

anyone have a clue for that bottom o?

8:00 pm

never mind

8:00 pm

eh? no, not upset, joey. you'd have to try much harder than that :)

8:01 pm

K

8:01 pm

why is it a law of nature that as soon as one asks for help with a letter the answer becomes obvious?

8:01 pm

lol joey, they are used to crossy,s insanity, you will not find a room full of more tolerant women than this;)

8:01 pm

it is eva:)

8:02 pm

schreck is an o 4

8:02 pm

once traveling back and forth from Israel I was subjected to Shreck 3 times. 3 times too much for one lifetime

8:03 pm

Hi there, jes. How are you today?

8:03 pm

and his wife would be an o 6

8:03 pm

pretty well, peach. almost finished painting ponies, now i'm rehairing them. need to come up with 2 more designs and i'll have all my work presents done for christmas :)

8:04 pm

I can breath fine when I'm not choking so I think I'm fine

8:04 pm

how're you?

8:04 pm

I adore the writer Steig but i don't think i would watch the movie 3 times

8:04 pm

Oh, good for you!

8:04 pm

so crossie the colors are intense up there this year?

8:06 pm

very intense eva,we had our first frost early

8:07 pm

Jes, I didn't get up until 3:00PM....I have my days and night turned around. It was a beautiful day. I've had this problem for several years now. Other that allergies and sinus problems I'm OK.

8:07 pm

there was frost in some of the valleys a couple of weeks ago but not here. They said that with all the water (to say the least) we'd have great foliage, but so far not that intense. But we're not at peak yet.

8:08 pm

I'm not sure though that they weren't just trying to get the tourists to come to make up for all the destruction and loss

8:08 pm

sleeping in would be nice, peach. in the name of better health, bruce and i have started getting up an hour earlier and working out.

8:08 pm

That is great, jes.

8:10 pm

neither of us is a morning person, so at night, we apologize to each other in advance for our attitude tomorrow.

8:10 pm

gap-you and I barely overlap. I woke up at 3:45 this morning.

8:10 pm

HA HA! Good one, jes.

8:11 pm

Did you take a nap this afternoon, Eva?

8:12 pm

no-can't nap wish I could.

8:13 pm

waiting now for benadryl to take effect so I can sleep

8:13 pm

I hope you can sleep a full 8 hours or so.

8:13 pm

do you live somewhere peachy and warm gap?

8:13 pm

a friend just found out his new puppy had a litter mate with parvo

8:14 pm

how long has he had the pup, shirlock?

8:14 pm

one weekend :(

8:15 pm

Yes, Eva, I live in GA. The winters are wonderful but the summers are wicked. Most people just go from one airconditioned place to another.

8:16 pm

sounds lovely right now peach- as it is rainy and chilly here, but the summer would do me in for sure

8:16 pm

don't suppose the pups had been separated before that? incubation is 3 - 10 days, so if they were just separated, your friend's pup is probably exposed too.

8:16 pm

that's the fear

8:16 pm

is parvo treatable?

i come to babble babble, not to praise him. dive!

8:17 pm

puppy started vomiting today

8:17 pm

yes, eva; sort of. no direct anti-viral medication, but with supportive care and covering for secondary bacterial infections, get pretty good survival rate

8:17 pm

I lived in CT for 7 years (I had a couple of strokes in 2002), my youngest daughter came and took me back to CT with her. She has a friend that is a teacher in Chicago who comes to visit every year and they go to Vermont for a couple of weeks. They say it is a beautiful state.

8:18 pm

unless they wait until the dog is damn near dead to bring it to a vet.

8:19 pm

It is very beautiful, but not very much sunlight which is wearing in the winter. It sounds like you are doing well now peach?

8:19 pm

he's taking the pup to the vet tomorrw

8:21 pm

I am much happier here, that's for sure. I made some great friends when I lived here before. I'm going to try to walk with my crutches (my sticks), the strokes left me with vertigo and I'll have to get some physical therapist to help me keep my balance.

8:22 pm

not a lot to do if it's not showing signs though. how old is it, and has it been vaccinated?

8:23 pm

vertigo is a real challenge peach, but it's heartening to hear that you have come through all of that being able to say that you are happy (er).

8:26 pm

Yes, it is, Eva.....there are days when everything goes well....I have to wait for a good day before driving.

8:26 pm

I need spoon fed help with the 9 please. I am tired

8:27 pm

great attitude peach.....I'm going to borrow some of that

and my payment that came through from social services is half of what I expected to be paid, so will have to call them now.

9:49 pm

TY Minveryork but have just logged out to see if that would help but no. I will wait but any help with the topline I would be much appreciated. Not usually up at 3.45 but have had a steroid injection and am wide awake - didn't help in the brain department.

9:50 pm

Minver that reads wrongly. I'm stuck for the letter I - second on the topline.

9:51 pm

is 6/21

well, remind me never to open mail again... the bills are just frightening me, and payments I didn't even know about are coming in.

10:07 pm

10:07 pm

See, I did warn you - the last word should have been wrist.

10:08 pm

Patxxx, don't worry about putting Words iin the chat. I do it a lot. It's when you put the chat in the Word box that annoys me!

10:08 pm

Great news, jes!

Hi. Patxx hugs

10:09 pm

hi herin.

10:09 pm

Patxxx, how did you break your wrist? That's certainly a pain!

hi pax **hugs**

10:13 pm

hi mrp

10:14 pm

Hi Nef

10:15 pm

hi again Jellen

10:16 pm

Hi Nef, I fell over a high 300yrs old kerb, broke my wirist, rearranged my face against a stone wall. The look would have been perfect for Halloween cos it really scared the kids. I was on hol for a week at my daughters and my husband says I'm not leaving the house again, a joke of course but I am now lacking my usual confidence. Plus today I had an Xray to check if I also broke rib/s!!!

O Pat :(

10:17 pm

(((Patxxx))) Just stay here playing Babble and it will keep you out of trouble and allow you to heal!

10:19 pm

Hello Nef! How are you doing? Welcome to the puzzle.

10:19 pm

My dtr. sprained her ankle last week by stepping wrong off a curb; and everyone first thought she did it on skates because she plays roller derby!!! Clumsiness happens!!!

10:19 pm

Hello herinfernallady! How are you? Welcome to puzzle

10:19 pm

Yeah! Made it to mediocrity yet again!

Nef I bet two to one that she will not hurt herself

in derby

10:20 pm

Hi Min. Tomorrow is Aunty's memorial (funeral); and once that is done I'll be much better I think

10:20 pm

Patxxx, sorry to hear about your troubles. You should come out of lurkdom more often. We really don't bite.

10:21 pm

Aunty was sure that that is what she did! (she did it the night before Aunty died)

10:21 pm

I hope you have a nice ceremony for you Aunt. Those things are always hard.I had one recently I attended.

10:21 pm

You lot must be super-intelligent. If I chat then I can't do the grid. If I use the list I need a week to finish. Must be me. I now return to the grid but I read chat and also look for clues. Still can't access lickety's but don't mind.

O Nef hugs

Pat I stay for the chat

10:23 pm

Patxxx,I have clue story in profile. Not as good as list however, it might help you out just a little bit. =:)

10:23 pm

Patxxx; the more you chat and play; the better you get at doing it. I cat for a while, then work on the grid. Going to the p[enalty box is actually a fun place to go too! ;-)

10:24 pm

gn6?

10:25 pm

The troll finally left wordtwist chat box.The chat box will remain the same for days on end.

Nef my friend was at Derby the other day. Did her back - reaching for her water. One of the other derby girls rearranged her face on a pole after practice triping on her own feet. Derby isn't the problem

10:25 pm

That gn 6/24 word is g plus an no 5/10 word Shirlockc

10:25 pm

(((Min))) sorry for the loss of your Grandmother I think? I still have to make a CD of the music for the ceremony; but have been doing too many other things so far.

Now that I know so4/5body that has benefitted from my story, I can goto bed with ea4/4. Goodnight to all

10:33 pm

Goodnight to my fellow babblers! I'll see you tomorrow

Night Min

10:34 pm

G'night Min

I am going too.

10:34 pm

good night, Min!

10:35 pm

niters, herin. Take care!

take care. Nef you have me in your thoughts

10:36 pm

Bye, herin

10:37 pm

I do have you in my thoughts, herin! :-)

10:38 pm

hey all.

10:38 pm

hi stid

10:38 pm

Stid! How's the teacher?

10:38 pm

not playing this evening, just checking in. I subbed all day today, and very tired.

10:38 pm

stiddy!!!

10:39 pm

firefly!!!! **sparkly smile*

10:39 pm

my feet hurt, jellen ... NEED gel insert for under my toes!

10:41 pm

you will love them, stid. I used them for a long time when I worked at the bedside; but occasionally they would leak!

10:41 pm

rofl... then at least my toes won't be too hot!

10:42 pm

I intended to sit down more... but with kids I didn't know, I just felt I needed to be up and monitoring their work a little more.

10:42 pm

they do stain your socks shoes and toes though!

10:43 pm

oh well... I wear black shoes and boots mostly. Easier to put new polish on to hide stains and scuffs.

10:44 pm

Being on your feet is a good thing, stid. I don't ever think substutue teachers ever sat down when I was in school

10:44 pm

so far, I am not working tomorrow -- so I might wander in to town at some point and get something like that.

10:44 pm

i think "garsh" sounds like a word, don't you? :)

10:45 pm

(I was raised by my Aunt who was County Sup''t of Schools; so maybe that made a difference!)

10:45 pm

Kids need to not know exactly where you are, so they keep thinking you might be standing "right there" to catch them off guard.

10:45 pm

*taking notes*

10:46 pm

I think it IS a word, firefly, at least in some dialects!

10:46 pm

I have an appointment with the department head tomorrow afternoon...I will be teaching at least one night class next semester!

10:46 pm

thanks stiddy - i mean, i'm pretty sure Goofy uses it...

10:47 pm

I want to know why "plog" isn't a word!

10:47 pm

Jellen -- COMFY shoes, clothes that don't need dry cleaning and are easy to get dry-erase marker out of... and that don't gap. I wear turtlenecks or a shell under every shirt just to be on the safe side.

10:47 pm

i tried that one myself Nef ;)

10:47 pm

Woo- Hoo, Jellen

10:47 pm

that is SO COOL, Jellen!

10:48 pm

Oh, I have comfy shoes with orthopedic insoles, lol...

10:49 pm

I may need to invest in some slacks, though...I'm a jeans wearer normally...

10:50 pm

there are some very comfortable slacks I got from Coldwater Creek that are zipperless and pocketless. Don't know about you, but if I have pockets I use them -- and THESE hips don't need extra baggage!

10:50 pm

They are comfortable, though.

10:51 pm

I swore by the J.C. Penneys' Worthington slacks myself, Jellen. I bought 2 pairs at a consignment shop and wore them pretty much continually for 3 years for work and they still look nearly brand new

10:53 pm

When I find something I like, I try to buy several pairs/sets right away. Inevitably, the things I like are the ones that get discontinued... *sigh*

10:54 pm

I have to have tall sizes, which limits my selection...

10:55 pm

stid, do they have elastic waists or what? No zippers are good; but elastic waists aren't always the best for me (I'm more of the apple shape myself; my hips are okay

10:55 pm

Eddie Bauer usually fits, though...

10:56 pm

They have elastic waist but it doesn't buckle and are a knit, but they look more like a nice solid twill.

10:56 pm

I like some Eddie Bauer; others just don't work for me

10:57 pm

LOL Jellen -- I need "short" pants for them to fit. Regular sizes generally need to lose the bottom four inches!

10:57 pm

Ooh, just found corduroy slacks on sale for $35!

10:58 pm

wow, I am tired... I meant the waistline lies flat, doesn't look like a traditional cased elastic waistline.

10:58 pm

Jellen, you are an AMAZING shopper! LOL

10:59 pm

okay, stid now I got what you said! :-)

11:01 pm

hello all -- here's the next icon theme

11:02 pm

(refresh?)

11:02 pm

so, I am driving the younger stidkid's girlfriend home. back tomorrow. ((((JILL)))) sorry I missed you. *Poof*

11:02 pm

I think that there is such an amazing difference in womens' body shapes! I have a friend who has to buy a size 16 pants (to fit her hips and thighs) but then needs to take in the waist 4-5 inches!

11:03 pm

Nef -- I'm the other way round -- big waist, no backside or hips, short legs where even Petites are too long.

11:05 pm

hi jilli. This is such a neat theme for tomorrow! Guess what?? Tomorrow is Aunty's memorial, and she was a "machine operator" and sewed clothes for 30+ years in the clothing industry!

11:05 pm

So I get Lands' End Sport knits (with pockets and full elastic waists) in 10-12 Petite and may not have to shorten them much, but they're still baggy in the rear.

11:06 pm

Oh Nef, that's great that we can respect her memory that way.

11:07 pm

jilli, I was born with a tummy and I still have it! ;-) I'm 5'4", and my butt and legs are normal sized, so I always think of myself as an apple

11:08 pm

I'd also like to thank mrp for her valiant attempts (so successful this time) to carry on the Lickety list.

11:08 pm

Same here, nef!

11:08 pm

I used to be well proportioned, but I've widened in the waist/tummy area...

11:09 pm

I used to have a 24" waist, sigh.

11:09 pm

I just think that the theme for tomorrow is a wonderful coincidence! Thank you! :-) (BTW, I started sewing on a Singer treadle sewing machine with a long skinny bobbin, Than machine was my great grandmothers

11:09 pm

Well, I'm excited about finding slacks on sale at Ann Taylor!

11:10 pm

Wish you could find a [picture of it, nef -- but I realise you don't change your icon.

11:10 pm

I have an early 1950s "portable" Singer...

11:10 pm

no Ann Taylor here...

11:11 pm

Online, jilli...It's the only way I can find tall sizes...

11:11 pm

Jellen, my portalbe was 1948-ish. For years before that I made things by hand

11:12 pm

now that I'm retired, I've promised myself that I'd trey switching my icon. But I have to get through tomorrow first....

11:12 pm

Yes, Nef...

11:13 pm

Jellen -- here I am, 5"3½, and I did advertising art and text (funny rhymes)for The Tall Shop in Montreal for several years

Just wondering if anyone could clue the di 7, 40. It's my last word and I can't figure it out. TY

11:18 pm

jilli! I found the machine! It was a Singer 1898 model 27, sometimes called a Sphinx (because of the art work on it, maybe?)

11:19 pm

hi Read- Di 7/40 is *sort of* two-sided electricity

11:20 pm

di7/40 -- di + the moon goes through several changes called ph5s

11:21 pm

Nef, save it to you My Pictures or whatever you use if it's a Mac

ty to both.

11:22 pm

yw RKB

11:23 pm

then what, Jilli?

11:24 pm

Go to your My Account, and click on Edit under your icon

11:26 pm

that's My Account here

11:29 pm

okay, I think I did that. I'll refresh and soo if it worked

11:29 pm

Then click on Browse, and find your sewing machine, then click on Open. When the path shows up in the box, click on Upload. When a red line shows up saying that was successful, close Babble and re-open it. The new icon should appear. cero

11:30 pm

It worked! :-) Thank you, jilli!

11:30 pm

oops

11:31 pm

Hooray, nef!!! Everyone refresh to see Nef's new icon!

11:31 pm

See how easy it is?

11:31 pm

Yay, Nef!

11:33 pm

Now, nef, it would be good if you could put a little story about that machine in your profile :-)

11:33 pm

Can you see how pretty that machine is? I remember tracing the sphinx decal just because it looked so neat (maybe that is why I'm fascinated with Egyptian history?)

11:33 pm

May I please have a clue for di7-44? Thanks

11:34 pm

<snicker> Jilli; are you trying to change e? ;-)

11:34 pm

that was change ME!

11:35 pm

I'll try, Jilli.

11:37 pm

Never, nef!

11:38 pm

But funnily enough, nef, although I can see your sewing machine when I click on your icon, your blue-haired self persists in the chog even though I've closed down Babble and opened it again twice. Let's see what happens after the flip.

11:39 pm

di 7 is something you wipe a plate with

11:39 pm

di7/44 -- what you wash plates with by hand

11:40 pm

hi jellen

11:40 pm

Thanks, Jellen and Jillibus.

11:40 pm

I'll probably never get that blue hair back again, Jilli.. :-/

11:40 pm

But it's still here, nef!

11:41 pm

not for me, Jilli!

11:41 pm

Where did it come from, nef?

Blue hair?

11:42 pm

Nefs usual icon, neil -- what are you seeing for her?

11:42 pm

and hi neil-the-blank

11:42 pm

how the heck do I know, Jilli. I've had the same icon since I started back in 2005

11:42 pm

hi neil

Ummm, no. Not blank. Refresh the page?

11:43 pm

It must have been saved somewhere, nef!

And hi jilli... and Nef.

Oh yes, the bird with blue feathers?

11:43 pm

that was 3 comuters ago, jilli

I'm still seeing that icon in here... weird?

11:44 pm

bird????? with blue feathers?

11:44 pm

now I see you properly, neil. Can you save Nef's blue hair for her?

Ok, just refreshed and now Nef is a sewing machine.

11:44 pm

I tried to change my icon, and it didn't take...

Isn't it a bird? Couldn't see it large enough to tell?

11:45 pm

Oh phooey.

I thought it was a cartoon bird with blue feathers on its head?

11:45 pm

Yes it did, Jellen!

Hi Jellen. Well you're a sewing machine so it must have "taken"?

11:45 pm

Oh, nevermind

You do need to refresh this page after changing icons, to see the new one.

You do need to refresh this page after changing icons, to see the new one.

11:46 pm

Neil, I have to do more than that -- have to shut down Babble and open up again

Weird?

I just refresh this page and it's there.

I just refresh this page and it's there.

Uh, twice even? :P Now how did that happen?

11:47 pm

wow, jilli. Even I don't have to do that on my mac

11:47 pm

What browser are you using, neil?

didn't mean to post in duplicate!

didn't mean to post in duplicate!

11:48 pm

and you did it again, neil -- weird is reight

11:48 pm

stuttering fingers, neil?

Damn. It didn't appear to have worked the first time, so I hit "Enter" again.

Uh, no.

And right now I'm using Google Chrome... but it works the same in this or Mozilla Firefox.

11:48 pm

see, jilli; it's cuz my icon changed! ;-)

11:50 pm

Nef, I saved your little blue-haired icon as a .gif -- could email it to you if I had your address -- mine is at the bottom of my profile

11:51 pm

neil -- I prefer Friefox but Babble defaults to IE for some reason. How can I change that? (email me?)

11:51 pm

I am weakening...

11:51 pm

IE is being VERY slow

11:52 pm

There is a 13 year old terrier who needs a home because her owner's apartment complex changed its animal policy...see the first pic in my profile...

11:53 pm

jilli, I'll email my addy it to you

11:53 pm

Aww, Jellen -- poor little guy.

11:54 pm

Thanks, nef

11:55 pm

Maybe I'll volunteer to foster for a while...if I go back to school, it will be really hard to have an inside dog...

11:57 pm

Jellen, Is she used to spending a while sleeping alone? She is an old girl, after all.

11:57 pm

jilli, email sent.

11:57 pm

How many hours would you be away from home?

11:57 pm

I don't know much about her...

11:57 pm

Thanks, nef.

11:57 pm

Jellen, that dog has such a sad face; what a aweetie!

11:57 pm

Morning all.....

11:58 pm

hello

11:58 pm

I would think at least 8 hours...

11:58 pm

Hi, Flask and MLF

11:58 pm
