I mean nbt -- toldja I was tired!

dee, I knew the word -- my dad used it in a poem he wrote while in the HongKong internment camp, WW2.

I do not and I cannot know; For Knowledge thus far does not go. But Beauty, Truth, the Good, and Love Our human life are far above, Existing independently Of Mankind and his destiny. Here then we know at least one Truth -- That if a person loves in sooth, That love can never pass away, Come Death, Destuction, or what may: I takes its place with God's decrees Among th' Eternal Verities. And so, dear Jill, my love for you Shall ever live, strong, deep, and true.
That was in April, 1944
Sorry -- the first few lines got lost a few minutes ago...
and forgive the typos...
Jilli, can you please put that on your profile...I'd love to read it all in one hit...Ta
OK diz -- you'll have to do a lot of scrolling! Actually it was the Envoi to quite a long bunch of verses -- dad didn't call them poems.
hello
hello again.. phone calls over
Woo-hoo! Just figured out a 7-8 combo all by myself. Go me :)
I think I killed the chat
Well really a 4-7-8 combo.
hi ruru
hi nan
Diz -- those verses are now at the very bottom of my profile.
Ugh. Very late for flip.
Ho obewan, ruru, neil
Well, ho, yes, and hi too, lol!
Hi jilli and anyone else who's here.
they are lovely jill
Thank you, sammysmom
my husband wrote a few verses when he was in ww2 also....... i guess a lot of the men did , but they were not as articulate and well versed as what you have
back... much better
walter was a landing craft pilot at the invasion or normandy- while he was doing that , i was mastering first grade-lol
s'mom, there are many more which I cherish
beautiful poem jili
i know you do
I didn't see my dad from age 12 to age almost 22
Wow, jilli. :(
bet that was tough
but then saw quite a bit of him, seeing that he and my mother were in NYC and I was in Montreal.
hi neil nan ru smom... all I missed
how sad for you- i was lucky- my father was a cook at a fort 6 miles from where we lived on t4h coast of maine
Very sad, yeah. :(
War stinks.
That it sure does.
And hi Dee.
there's a t-shirt motto
At least he came back alive. Others were not so lucky. Why does it still go on and on and on?
pr 7
yup- i remember the fear , the moods of the adults, the blackouts because we were living in a coastal city, the rationing, the recycling and the smell of my fathers friend
Right, obewan!
because Dick CHeney's company hasn't made enough money
Because people perpetuate it... don't want peace.
my father was a typist in the war
i gave up reading a lot of history because i got so weary of it- since the beginning of time- there have been wars somewhere in the world - - i guess it is the tru nature of man to hate and try to control others- maybe it is time for the mothers of the world to take over hmmmmmmmmmm?
You wouldn't think it should be so hard to just learn to co-exist peacefully, but apparently it is.
only if Mitt Romney and RIck Perry hug and make up
Haha, obewan.
I heard Michele Bachman asked Herman Cain to fetch her car..
..talk about Driving Ms Daisy from Hell...
Oh boy. Ok, punchline?
Haha! Knew something like that was coming.

gn jili
did cos leave... quiet today
Good night jilli. Haven't seen him here, Dee? I had left myself logged in but returned much later than flip.
gotcha
And I'm so tired I literally have one eye open, trying to do this grid.
hate that feeling
If you're so tired so to bed sleepy head.
No, gotta get this done.
I often have to remind myself that babble is not a job and can be left to finish at leisure - always want to get it done - dont know why
exactly how I react ursh... type A's??
Haha, ursh. I just want it out of the way.
Got a lot to do tomorrow.
lol Dee - i think i am afraid i wont get back to it
And yeah, I always like to complete the grid.
I usually get to a point where the words just aren't coming anymore and I gotta let the puzzle be. When I come back to it the next day I always find more.
It's so rare for me to finish a puzzle .
frankly if we dont finish - who will die ??
is this a game or a mountain
Gamountain.
*looks up at the summit*
good morning all
gamountain?
Morning to you, sprite!
It's not quite morning here yet.
Another 38 minutes to go.
bo 7/36
it is 8.22 am here
you should change your icon, neil, it is your theme today
Game + mountain = gamountain :)
:)
Oh is it, sprite? Thanks for reminding me... I made a special one for it.
ah great!
I should have remembered... it's a friends birthday today, or was, and I thought that's how I'd remember.
I didn't see anyone else with that icon theme though?
Which date is it for?
wednesday 19 oct
the list of themes is always in my profile, if you need it
Popping back in -- I posted me as a 3-yr-old, neil, and I list the themes in my profile all the time
jilli has a very sweet one, neil
oh LOL hi jilli... was just checking yours
hi sprite -- you were a cutie (still are)
aw :)
<---this is me at 5
I lived in my brother's shadow
rather undescript kid you were, obewan
no it's not, obewan
we were plain people sprite
part of a faceless crowd
so I see
my little one wants to play with your little one, jilli!
Ok, all set. Refresh.
so does my little one want to play with yours, sprite. They seem about the same age.
yes I thought so too. They get along fine ;)
awww neil, that is a great one. Nicely done.
oh.. found the 10
I'll fix it later to include an adolescent or teen photo.
But for now that'll have to do.
good job obewan
You were such a cutie, sprite!
wtg obewan
And you too, jilli!
a scared little cutie, I always think when I see that pic. Thanks :)
sprite, shall our little girls ask that little boy to play too?
Haha, yeah... you do look a little scared there.
yes! That little boy is very welcome to your play
Which little boy? Me?
yep you
thanks for that, neil. I'm told she was a brat at times.
Oh goody! What are we going to play?
Of course, neil.
Oh I know I was a brat... a lot of the time! lol
I suggest something very dirty with sand and water
We're not going to play doctor.
I used to drive my brother nuts... then he'd cave in and beat me up, haha! Dad would take us to the door and say "If you two are gonna fight, take it outdoors and try to refrain from any activity that results in bodily injury or expensive dental work."
lol no. Dirty in the literal sense. Clothes-wracking dirty.
lol @ your dad. My kids quote me still on the 'Don't bleed on the carpet!'
I guess we're too little to play marbles.
sprite.. an early starter?
Turns out he needed some expensive dental work anyway... braces for a few years.
Haha, yeah.
Ok, is there a sandbox around?
my little one might eat the marbles
my love made us a wonderful sandbox and climbing house. The kids (of the whole neighbourhood) had so much fun there.
We could get a little pool and splash around.
with sand and water, I was a happy little girl
Sounds like fun for them, sprite. :)
eating them is the easiest way to lose them sprite
yeah, our kids couldn't have asked for better. It had a small swing too, and when they got older, my love built the thing up until it looked over the fence. You wouldn't believe the fantasies they lived out there. Castles in the air!
hiya ruru... but only temporary
Hi ruru.
hi ruru
Kids or marbles, ru?
Haha!
marbles
lol!
hi jilli
Yeah, I figured... but you know.
Oh, M. Bachmann really made a blunder tonight.
Check it.
You'll laugh out loud.
Another blunder?
any chance of getting the fun part here, neil? I hate checking out political stuff.
Can't see straight -- really going to bed now -- poof again!
night jilli
One of thousands, but yes.
Showing her ignorance very clearly, for all to see. She should be embarrassed.
...test...
Test?
Oh, the hiccup?
yeah I wondered if the chog had frozen for me. It sometimes does. No, not the hiccup.
The hiccup happens at this time though and seemed to there... it was frozen for a couple of minutes.
sibilance...sibilance
ssshhhhhh!@
hiya boat! :)
Huh?
Hey sprite :)
yes hiccup is always at 2 am grid time, 2 hours after flip. But chog had been quiet since 5 mins before, so I wondered.
Hi again boat.
Oh, ok. I had gone to my kitchen to make some toast.
Was feeling a little hungry.
oooo found the biggies :D
Hey neil :) Again? Sorry if you said Hi earlier and I didn't see it.
am peckish myself, but cbb to go downstairs and make something. Not worth the pain.
we have children's pics as theme today, boat, of ourselves.
Oh, I don't know where I was at earlier anyway, boat. Was kind of back and forth here.
I'm gonna fix mine to include a teen pic.
Maybe I'll put that where my brother is in this one?
He doesn't need to be there. :P
Haha!
lol not for this pic, though it is a cute combination
Yeah, but just in case anyone confuses us. Not like the would, but still.
not here, probably, unless he plays babble under a similar name
No. He made an account here but never has time so he hasn't upgraded it. I think he played once or twice. He said he finished one grid... but it was a small one and not too difficult.
too bad, but if this isn't his kind of thing, he is right not to waste time or money at it
oh mannnn hail! Big stones falling here.
Oh it isn't so much that, sprite, he is just super busy and doesn't have time for this.
also a valid reason. Too bad though, from what you say it seems he would be a nice addition to the babble community.
Hi guys and gals. I have to say, I love the icons today!
From what I say? Haven't said much about him.
hey Marmar :) How have you been?
Hi Marmar.
yes, from the little you said
aren't they sweet, Marmar?
Very well generally. Busy as always though. Play babble regualarly but stick with my time limit and therefore stay away from the chat. But today is more relaxed!
sprite's is sooo cute. :)
Miss talking to everyone though. Think of you all very often!
oh lovely. And I admire your restraint!
yes I miss you too. But real life comes first :)
Yes Neil and you're a cutie too! I don't have any kid pics scanned so I have to stay old!
Aww. Haha!
jilli's was sweet too
Yes, real life. And as it is things still get away from me consistantly. Marcus is playing again since fall break started, I love that.
Oh, I'll have to go back in the chat and check out jilli's.
Yes, she was a cute little girl!
yes or look up her profile
http://www.playbabble.com/profile_mini .php?id=24882 This is the link to jilli
http://www.playbabble.com/profile_mini .php?id=24882
lol
Oh, you beat me to it. ;)
Awwww, that is cute! It's fun to look back and revel in the cuteness isn't it?
fast as lightning, my fingers. Only my fingers though.
oh yes, Marmar, I agree :)
Yeah. I say "I was cute at ONE time." :P
We watched home videos made when our kiddies were little, what a trip! Those little cute voices and they were so funny bumbling around. Time goes fast as lightning too.
Oh that's funny... watching ours when we were kids. Can't believe I looked and sounded like that! lol
it does. My son is more than a head taller than I, with a deep voice and sometimes amazingly mature attitude. And it seems like last week that I was walking around with him in my arms because he wouldn't stop crying.
Aw Neil, don't count yourself out just yet Dude! You're a fox! (do people still say that?)
I don't know, Marmar, lolll. I do know that my kids often do that 'roll-eyes-upward' thing when I use a word from my teenage days.
I remember when my friend's oldest was about 14 and she was marveling that this little human was becoming so interesting and opinionated and fun to converse with. I'm experiencing that now....wonderful.
same here! 15 and 13 they are.
Sprite, I voluntarily gave myself the nickname "wet blanket" as I know I'm out of date and usually say "no" when they want me to say "yes". Goes with the job. Oh, I'M right behind you, 13, 12 and 10.
Uh, I'm a nerd/dork Marmar... but think you for being so kind. ;)
oh yes. Giving them limits may be the most important thing of the job now. Being there, loving them unconditionally and limiting them!
Aww, sprite. Does the time really seem to go that fast? My mom always says it does... she keeps saying it's strange to see us as adults now, because it seems like no time since we were little ones.
Just think, Neil has this all infront of him (and he'll prob be the cool dad)
And I know that's really sad for her in some ways.
If I'm ever lucky enough to be one, Marmar.
it really does, neil. I don't know why, but it really does. One's own kids are always older than we think.
Yes, my parents have said the same!
for me it is not sad though. I have loved watching them grow up and I stil do. I find them more interesting the older they get. I love a cuddly baby, but I don't long back to that period.
Neil, for me, it continutes to go faster as I get older, for obvious reasons I guess, the expiration date gets closer and closer. But It literally feels like I just moved here and settled in and it's been 15 years. Sometimes I look at my husband and think, I hardly know him, and look at the kids and think, who are these little adults-like people...funny.
I see, sprite.
someone told me time goes faster all the time, because every next year is a smaller percentage of the time we have lived. Somehow that makes sense to me.
I agree Sprite, I am enjoying it like crazy and look forward to the new and amazing things we'll all experience in the future.
Where did you move there from, Marmar?
wait till they start talking back without reason or sense, lol.
Dallas Texas.
Oh, ok? I just assumed you were German.
But you're American... cool. What took you over to Deutschland?
I feel German sometimes.
After that long living there? I bet.
Marmar is an import German :)
Yes. :)
Fell in love with a German musician who was playing at Wurstfest in New Braunfels Texas one year.
I can understand a lot of German to hear or read it, because Yiddish is so similar. I've had conversations with Germans speaking German, with me speaking Yiddish... it's funny.
I see, Marmar. :) Very good reason!
I like Yiddish better though. It is softer in sound.
Oh that is fun. I love how languages evolved, shared and changed into what they are today.
I love to hear Hollandish as it such a neat combination of German, English and jibberish (NO offence to any Nederlanders out there)
I have never just heard someone speaking Yiddish, just the occasional word thrown into English conversation.
hehehe no offense taken! I can understand how it sounds like jibberish.
Sprint, why have I thought your flag was the Belgium flag all these years....
I loved hearing Dutch spoken when we were there last year. :)
and yes, Dutch is very relaxed in taking up strange words. We say 'het is een mengelmoes' = it is a mishmash.
And I agree, Marmar... I'm fascinated with languages.
I don't know, Marmar!
I knew what "het is een" meant... but not that last word.
mengelmoes = hodgepodge
I am doing a project with the kids called "English from the roots up". It takes a latin or Greek root word, defines it and then we look at all the words we know in our lives today that use that root. It's fun, maybe more for me then them, but they will appreciate it someday when they score high on their ACT's or the German equivalent.
How do you pronounce that, sprite?
Oh that would be fun, Marmar.
wow Marmar, that is really a gift to them. And fun! I have read english books with them and they still benefit enormously.
hold on, let me think how to put that
Are your kids fluent in English too, sprite?
I think if you would say 'mengle moos' it would be correct
With a hard 'g' sound right?
they are better reading than talking, neil, but yes, pretty much so.
Mengelmoes is my word of the day!
no, the g is part of the NG here. Which is the same as in english.
I find that too... I'm much better with reading than speaking other languages.
Do you all watch DVD's in English sometimes Sprity?
Yes! I just learned a new Dutch word. I'll remember it for next time I'm there. :P
yes, often, Marmar. I don't mind subtitles, but I don't need them for english either.
great neil :)
That and to buy that teapot I mentioned. ;)
By the way, I think this grid is a big mengelmoes.
I agree
Haha, a little.
2 more words...
and fireflies
I need a proper cup of coffee. I had one but it was awful. I used a new milk frother and it over-frothed my milk and was basically a cup of froth, no room for the coffee!
Congrats!
You all are good!
WTG sprite! :)
I'm still content when I reach 50 percent...
thanks :) Anything I can clue for you before I go?
Congrats to you.
Oh? I just drink my coffee inky black... with sugar.
50% is nice
Yes, a clue for the 10 :)
No thanks sprite... but thanks for asking. :)
No, just take care of yourself!
plural for I have no in10 to give you a clue for that!
in10,70 -- plural of in9,54
in9,54 -- something you mean to do?
Oh, I see it! Thanks guys :)
yw :)
6/9/10/7 combo :)
or cryptic: not out but after a canvas hut is an electrical charged particle.
That's good, sprite.
;) Bye all, have a lovely day / night.
Take care, sprite. :)
G'night sprite :)
"not out but after a canvas hut is an electrical charged particle." What???
One thing at a time, boat. "Not out" but... **?
A canvas hut?
Then an electrically charged particle?
I have in 4/4.
A canvas hut -- wigwam, teepee, etc.?
Ok, well try in6,18 first.
Oh, I have the word. I just didn't understand that that statement was a clue for the word. I get it now :)
It was never my in9,54 to give you that obvious a clue. :P
Oh, I see!
You have patience in abundance. Thanks :)
Who, me?
Yes
I wouldn't say that! :P
Well I would. Take a compliemt :)
Ok? Thanks. :P
It says a lot about a person that even if they do not agree with the compliment given to them that they know how to take a compliment well.
Uh, well I said that with a :P after it... so don't know what that says about me?
Just that I thought you had a lot of patience in helping me when you thought I needed it and I appreciate it.
Well thanks boat... and you're welcome. :)
:)
Words aren't coming out anymore so I think I'm gonna do some reading and hit the hay. Thanks for the clues and conversation. Night neil :) Night all :)

yw Jenny, hi sue
hi, city! nice to start off my day with a 9 and 10 :-)
this grid could use a kick-start ... I thought it looked nice and easy when I jumped in, but I'm gaining a new respect for it's stickiness.

oh une please don't use the word cooties--i was terrorized with that word for 8 years when i was growing up and it still brings back bad memories
Ty! My babes!
hi river
My hubby took care of everything last night (supper, homework, getting the boys to bed) so I could just crawl into bed. I didn't sleep too well, but I do feel a bit better today.
thanks for the po m..didn't even have the singular
poor car!
nice guy
cooties? my mom always used it to refer to germs . . .
i swear that snee is a word
Morning All
It is. It is an English blade.
as in 'I drew my snicker snee"?
i know but the kids said i had them and they would '''spray" any thing i touched and run away from me screaming cooties
thanks car for that ob
yes m a snee is a sword
Oh jmc. That is horrible.
good grief! why, jmc???
it still practically brings tears to my eyes to thing about how tortured i was by those kids
now they want to be my face book friends
oh, well, then I'm sorry!!!!!!!!!!
Kids suck.
so i know i over react about the word (and the game) but . . .
no no une you didn't know just please in the future
amazing what things stay with us forever, eh?
I have a bandaid on my finger and it is totally screwing up my typing.
indeed i could go on about all the things they did -- even into hs but without the words cooties but lets talk about happier things
ok . . .
do you need your finger kissed to make it better car?
<3
Whoo hoo! Got the 9 and 10!!!!
wtg car!
happy thing . . . our drought was helped greatly by the rain we got yesterday . . . and wow, temps dropped from 86 to 46 in 2 days!
go, car!!
gj car
yay car
Oh good Une!
I know what you mean, jmc - I went to one high school reunion (35th or 40th, I forget); someone wanted to write a brouchure with all our memories - I wrote what I thought. The brochure never appeared.
wonder if Ruby's son was affected by that huge dust storm in TX . . .
how wonderful une! nothing like rain in a drought
sue LOL!!
anyway, good morning, all!
hi sue
Oh good for you uusue!
hello sue
Good morning dear!
the axed the whole brochure?! haha
howdy, river :-)
(being the smartest kid in the class, and a dork besides, did not make for the best school experience)
hi uu
lol, thinking back to school bullies.i was also a target, seems all bookworms were, till one day i had enough and just lost it on 3 of them.not like today though, after i beat each one up,i picked them up off the ground, dusted them off and walked each one to thier own door
is Lubbock near Austin?
lol
Crossy...you rock.
not really
I just went on to get my PhD in physics from Yale, and never looked back. So there :-)
that's where the dust storm was and Ruby's son is in Austin
the best revenge is living well suze
oh, sue, I empathize -- was in a small group of nerd girls and we were mocked relentlessly . . .
at the last hs reunion i went to everyone was real impressed that i was a washington dc lawyer
i kept saying, no, i am a lawyer in washington, dc
i can well imagine, jmc!!!
:-)
Yeah, I think they were impressed too (and I won the prize for having the most marriages, which I think took them aback as well :-)
Yes, but if they picked on you they are clearly too stupid to figure out the difference!
lol sue
Sue!?!?!?!
lol sue,a man killer or are you a black widow?
Too funny!
lubbock is near the panhandle and austin is sort of east middle
Well, they're all still alive, crossy, I guess I'm just better at some things than others
ahh i see;)
how nerd can you be if you keep getting someone to marry? ;-D
and shall we ask how many? or is that too personal?
thanks jmc TX geography is not my strong point but I do know Beevilee
Beeville*
well, I think I finally have it figured out with Frank - should have married him back where we were engaged in 1969!
haha how do you know beeville?
lived there for 7 glorious months
three, river, and Frank will be the fourth (and last!)
well if you had you would have been a different person and it may not have worked out uu
ok, now I REALLY have to run - class in 30 minutes and it's a 20 minute walk!
first daughter was born there..she's very proud that she's a Texan
bbl!!!
wow that is not a sentence i connect to beeville west!
Bye!
thats not bad - for some reason I thought it was going to be much more....old sweethearts - I love it
well tell her the story my grandmother used to tell me west
bye sue
bye sue
my boy is very proud that he was born where the Vulcans make first contact with humans. :-)
I was being sarcastic about Beeville but truth be told it had the nicest people you'd ever want to meet
the young lady was leaving for a fancy school east of texas and her grandmother said now hun when you get with those other young women do you go bragging about being from texas. the right people will already know it and you don't want the others to feel bad because they were not
: ) m9f9l!
great story !! I will tell her
lol m9 is that hewho?
stats please for the 2nd column E?
en5/10
yup.. in 2063 on MY birthday!
is it a fish? darned if I can see it
i will put it on my calendar m9
so that's a little Star Trek connection between me and my hewho!
Nice!
West...want a clue?
it IS nice with a guy who used to make sense of the world through Star Trek.
lots of strange words in this grid but monkeys are holding their own
He's branched out. :-)
i do if west doesn't but not until west is ready
And did we ever find the O on the right?
yes please car
You en*** in a class you would like to take.
ob4/6 I think
ty car
thank you so much car ...nbt
wtg west!
and I swear I tried that
TY River! Got it! NBT for me!
would you like a clue for the ob?
lo
good job car!!
several vowels between me and nbt :-( but i will persevere
OK...time for me to get to work. I will have to remove this bandaid though!
yay car
wtg car!
Have a great day everyone!
feel better car
bye car hgd
{{hugs}} to any and all who may need one today.
good day car
have a good one.
Bye!
I really can't believe there are 25 off that b
we hardly ever have a b in the grid..making up for it
so I been playing this other word game for many years and one of the players in her retirement is travelling cross country and is in NH today. We are meeting for lunch. I am very excited. A small version of your babble meet ups
eek, the time. I have nbt/nbs.. but not 1/2way..and it's time to go pick up E and I haven't done any homework! LOL
how nice river!
glad to help you avoid homework m9! lol
that's great river
she is from Oregon - has taken 3 weeks to get this far. Cant wait to meet her.
*poof*!!!!
what's the other word game?
wordsplay.net
there are a few babblers that play as well
is it a boggle person, River?
and it has a chog?
a babble meet up would be interesting, but other than carlee, everyone else is far,far away from crossy:(
others here have mentioned it
I used to play tangleword..made a very close friend from that one who lives in England
its a timed game - you have 3 minutes to get as many words as you can against all other players
is welki too far crossy?
ah i am no good at timed games they make me anxious
where is she?
flosey is sort of in your neighborhood now crossy
I think welki is in Alberta but not sure
I like this one better and the of course the chat and folks are much much better. But when I finish babble I need something else to do...lol
yes in alberta i think
who are you meeting, River
she loves fishing..even ice fishing..brrr
hi poodle
hi poodletoes....I am meeting celtic rose
hi, jmc
remember river, when dr_g finishes the new build,i have asked for a supplimentary 10x10 3000 word monthy grid to keep every one busy tween flips lol
river are you in concord?
she goes by a couple other names too but I cant remember what they are
my phantom is oolong
yes I am in Concord
she really travels. doesnt she. that is great that you get to meet her. I dont think she is ever home!
I was only an hour away when I lived in Westford
that would be nice (i think) crossy i wonder how the logistic would work with a supplemental grid and the chog
they are travelling in their 33 foot trailer...campgrounds around here are all closed for the season so they are staying in the walmart parking lot ....will be leaving again after we meet for lunch
notsurejmc,butit would bevery interesting indeed
westford Mass
yes
my friends with trailers say that walmart lots are the best places to stay
I would like that too crossy
i have heard that people use the walmart parking lot like that - and use their facilities.
been to Westford for seminars
he'd have to start a new game..called Babble Gigunda
correct me if i am wrong, but do you not have to be a greeter for a bit,to pay off the space?
okay i give up stats for the third and fourth column Os please
you should have stopped in river..we lived on Boston Road
no haha crossy that is so not true
lol crossy
if I had only known westford
ob 4/6 and or 5/14
ob4/6
I wish you had known
I am picking her up at walmart...too hard for them to meet me at a restaurant and park their huge trailer
there are 2 ob4/6 then?
I need to get back to work now - have a great day everyone
tc river
bye river

I'm here just don't want to put in wrong box again
yum! yes please!
and some capers and red onion
*drool*
Add another vowel to that o for a 5
now I'm hungry
not a big deal hoot and thanks for the 5!
Dam the only place around here that made edible bagels is gone and lox is &10 for 3 oz and came from the same store!
thanks from me too
you are both welcome - tit 4 tat
that is a sad sad story hoot
$10
my father used to bring home bagels from a Jewish bakery..they were to die for
Tell me - One of the many things I miss about NY! Anyone have a good recipe for those big, soft pretzels?
we have the same problem hoots, the new bagels are small rock hard things that look like they were in the freezer for a month right before they were thawed and dumped in the bin
the nice thing about dc is that i can get a pretty good version of pretty much anything
But this is Memphis. Been here 7 years and just found a halfway decent pizza!
Good Morning Everybody. Hoot, are you doing a bait and switch on jmc? Offering her bagels and lox, then give her a bowl of cereal? ;-)
crossy - here - like all bakery items they are ostly air and tasteless!
isn't Memphis famous for BBQ?
haha i will brb must start coffee! maybe the E word i am looking for will be here when i come back
crossy has been eyeing a breadmaker...
I would never do that! Just quietly salivating!
there is this new aussie breadmaker that is supposed to be amazing
:-)
what's her name crossy?
has a auto retract agitator that retracts during the last rise.so your finished bread dos not look like it was hit with a shotgun
The BBQ I've tried is either very, very hot or tastes like Krafts! I am slowly evolving my own recipe start ing w/KC Masterpiece
KC masterpiece is really good
lol, west, iwill have you knowi do allmy own baking hehe
you are a gem that's for sure
let mesee if i can find the right one...
I do usually but this is the first time here I've had a gas stove and it turning iut to be as good as CR said
i am not a fan of memphis bbq but then i am from texas
here is is,i have heard many good thing bout thismodel....
crossy breadmakers are for dolts like me
http://www.productreview.com.au/p/brev ille-bbm600-ikon-baker-s-oven.html
haha hoot when i was shopping for a house i told the real estate agent not to even show me a house that didn't have a gas stove!
I like the kneading, I can release a lot of frustrations that way!
stats for the left hand e please
I love the gas stove top; the ovens have always scared me (I once had a gas oven blow up on me; I can't ever get that out of my head)
crossy misses gas stoveburners...
en 4/6
i can understand your nervousness then nef
i am thinking about an electric oven but i love gas
BF apt and the 3 houses we've been in had electric which I haven't used in 60 yrs! None had been maintained and the last one was downright dangerous! Was relieved when they said we'd need to buy our own this time around.
ty nef
nbt finally
that looks good crossy..laughed at the first review though
hoots, look up the AGA companion model of ranges...they are amazing!!
wtg jmc !!
first review is funny
my English friend has an Aga
my English friend has an Aga
We just bought a nice gas stove from Sears last fall. We couldn't afford the ones with the gas tops and electric ovens though; those things are really pricey!
the place i stay during the week in the shenandoah valley has an electric stove that scares me--sparks flew out when some water went down the side
she doesn't have 2
we have an electric stove in the kitchen and a gas stove in the basement
Sears around here sucks. We went to an appliance store. Never again. Would have better off w/Lowes
we had the gas disconnected because we never use it
wish it was the other way around
I had that arrangement growing up
Morning from Mr. Bob using my wife's account
why don'y you swap the stoves west?
hi MrBob
if i had gas, everything would be on it except the lights! stove, dryer, hot water everything i couldmanage!
my husband is afraid of gas stoves
yep! Much more efficient!
and if you use propane,as long as your tank is full, you are self sufficient, and not so dependant on the electric lines
Why? I lived with them for 60 yrs and I can remember 2 stories about houses blowing up. And both were because they had done something stupid!
asmall genniefor the furnace and hot water tank blowerfans and yer all set
I'd shopped around and used a lot of reviews (Consumer Reports, etc.) and this is a Kenmore, the price was good and we all like it. I can actually do decent wok cooking over the high power burner too
I know hoot it's not reasonable and sure would have been handy when we lost power for a week during Irene
they even makepropane fridges still:)
We lost power in the spring. Just had to use a sparker and hot food or coffee, tea - no sweat. I think we were the only ones in the neighborhood!
that's interesting crossy..are they mostly for campers?
Could I have stats for the 2nd row I and the 2nd column E please? I just can't find words there
with all the new electronic lighters and such can you get the gas stove working with the electric off?
they are now for the most part westford, but we had a fullupright one for the cottage
io4/4
I is what you use on your clothes
en5/10
thanks, jmc
i think thats the frencj? one
french
the upright one would run for almost 2 sweeks on a 20 pound cylinder;) so it was very handy
the e
dam you've made me hungry and I'm not concentrating
wow crossy that sounds good
bbl
bye hoot
coffee is almost ready
me too going to see if we have any bagels
nbt finally; thanks to jmc!
bye for now..
*curstsies*
now my special bagel toaster sit unused:((( sniff....
bye west
sell it crossy
nope, new breadmaker and makemy own bagel dough
the problem with specialty gadgets is you have to use them or they just clutter up the house (DH LOVES kitchen gadgets; they now spill into 2 extra rooms in the house here!)
i will measure the special extra large toaster slots and make my bagels exactly that size:)
come to think of it; they clutter up the house even if you DO use them!
we only have one gadget atm a foreman grill and it gets used all the time
but you are correct, great care must be taken when selecting kitchen appliances
breadmaker, foreman grill, 3 mixers, 2 blenders (one is also a food processor), 2 crock pots (different sizes), 3 juicers (each "better than the last one!"), mandolins; etc. I just want to get rid of most of them
french peas are in here
wow!
??? what's a french pea?
smiles at my american friends..french word for peas nef
I could go on, crossy; I don't even know how many different things he has to brew coffee! (and all we use is the old Melita caraffe!)
LOL! I thought you were talking about a food I'd never heard of!
i love my old stove top perkulator have a metal basket and never wears out and the little glass dome so you know it is doing its job
i grind the coffee coarse and it is all set
pinch of salt or chickory
i love my foreman grill but can't use it well without a kitchen
lol, yes,i imagine it is tough to use when balanced on the television set:(
poor jmc
back - frozen quiche in the micro - at least this fridge has a BIG freezer. That's been in there a while
i spend my life fighting for freezer space..mrs is a food pack rat
And I bought a stovetop coffee pot about a mobth ago. My coffee maker is too big for my counter so I was lugging it back & forth from one end of the room to the other & back agian
lol, when i was a single guy,all i needed was a bottle of champagne,a few take out packs of ketchup and half a loaf of bread and i was set for 2 days lol
Me too crossy. We also have one of those small freezers and both are full
i had to go to a flea market to find the stove top coffee pot we have as they are not made anymore,or at least i cannot find a new one
And I use every square inch of meat or veggies!
I bought mine from a catalog
nothing finer when the power goes out than to thunk that old girl down on top of the wood stove and have hot coffee in 5 minutes
woohoo! got the 9 and 10!
yaa for hoy!
:)
wtg hoya
good morning, clue for the O 5th column and the E 2nd column for nbt?
wtg, hoya!
o+most of a string tie
you en5 in class
hi lbd
ty, JMC!!
NBT!
no classes today, Jmc?
no, no classes today
wtg lbd
but i have to write 2 papers
and finish the reading to write one of the papers
that should keep you busy for a while
and make a power point thing with a group
glad its my day off!
urgh, don't like doing power point. i'm not creative for that
these are very close to fill in the blank power points--no creativity required
that shouldn't take you too long to do then.
but i have to drive to campus i think to meet with the group
so that is 2 hours right there
*sigh*
bummer, can't get them to skype conference?
is it a good group, jmc? If so, that usually helps
What do the 9 and 10 start with pls?
no not really--although i am having a telephone conference for another group
that one is a good group nef--and i really need to go buy some groceries anyway
gosh it is almost 11 -- i need to get going on this stuff so i don't do it all tonight bbl
later, JMC
sorry, sheila; I don't have them yet
bye, jmc

annie, you're a phantom
How are you doing, dawg?
Nonnie is in the grid
how do you take the excess gorut off tiles?
i'm hanging in there, annie. job hunting and generally trying to keep busy. nothing exciting.
The tiler said to take a dry towel and just rub over the tiles and it will come off. I have to wait a few hours to do that.
dawg, I keep thinking about you and I sure will miss Borders. It was a great book store.
Hmm, what if you try to do it much later
I miss Borders too. I'm running low on reading material! lol
bichon, should I wait until this evening then?
i don't think you want to wait too long, the stuff can be like cement when it dries completely
that's what i mean. How dod you do it when it's like cement
ugh, I am going back to the bathroom and see how dry the excess it. Maybe I can do it now. See you later.
Annie as soon as the toles haze rub it off. Just avoid the grount lines.

i can do punctuationless wednesday!
Social Security recioients are getting a COLA in 2012. Hooray. But, it's only 3.6%
the kind I like is glutinous but not slimy
that's me, bichon, good news!
3.6 is better than nothing!
me too. And I only have Medicare A. Those with B are going to have to pay steep premium increases
we got nothing in 2011, I think

I have no health insurance in France which is scary
I thought there was great health insurance for non citizens in France. Isn't that what Michael Moore's film Sicko said?
I think that's only if you're working here, not just retired
Ok, so what do you do if you're sick, just pay it all
yes
That's the main reason I wouldn't want to retire outside the US.
or die, I guess
but if DH had let me keep my old work-related insurance, I'd still be covered. He thought it was too expensive
There was an article in the paper listing great countries to retire. The first one was Ecuador. What if you needed Open Heart Surgary? Would you have it done there?
have you ever been in Ecuador? That's a scary idea
I've been reading articles lately about over-treatment and too much testing. Very interesting
could you work a while and pay into the french system to be covered?
I'm too old, ibd! (also, too lazy)
whats wrong with ecuador?
I don't think I'd want to have to be treated for something really serious there
why?
I loved Ecuador as a tourist, but can't imagine getting cut open there
although hospital-related infections seem to be everywhere.....
go to cuba.... great medical there.
Having serious medical attention is limited to certain countries and Ecuador is not one of them
uh oh, dinner looms....
see you later
I'd love to retire somewhere else, but Cuba is not one of them
bye, ruby, enjoy dinner
Hello lbdawger - love your cartoon in your profile!
I've been getting all kinds of promos from private SS suppliers and one sent a list of hospitals with it. The one close to me is the WORST hospital for secondary infections! Too many indigents from oo many states.
cuba is pretty poor but the people are fantastic...vlimate is great. medical is best in the world
ONLT energency hospital in the area.
Don't that just make you want to switch?
I don't know if medical care is the best in the world in Cuba, but it is inexpensive.
hi scouser!
That's worst in the whole country!
Isn't Ecuador where that big shot thug goes for his treatment
I lived in Israel. The level of medical care there is pretty high, but it is socialized medicine. I prefer the US version
medical is pretty good here....
yes it is India, but I wouldn't want to have to wait months for an operation
bichon: re Cuba - wouldn't one have to fully emigrate to Cuba in order to benefit from any service there?
I have to go - need to shop before noon and already 10:45! bbl
it depends where you are and what it is...i waited 3 days for elective surgery...emerency surgery is immediate of course..
I don't think so scouser. I'm remembering what I saw in the Michael Moore movie.
broil
oops. sorry
India, I've heard too many stories about long waits for services. It might not always be true, but i'd prefer the US system. Of course my husband is still working and we get health insurance from his job
finito!
b's are done
congrat lbd
woot lbd
Hi and ty, mixi
and ty to all the cluers!
ty bichon
been lurking and getting my words done. 4 left.
i suppose it would depend what it is..may wait awhile for some elective procedures and MRI lineups used to be long...much better in the last couple years

we get a lot of canadians crossing the border to come here for various surgeries, i guess they'd be elective, i don't know for sure, but we love canadians!

eye and knee surgies are faster if you go to the US i think
whooooo hoooooo MIXI!!
hubby waking up.

i can see a lot of the bone surgeries, we've had two new clinics open up in the last couple of years specializing in legs and feet

just curioius as to what the grid looks like as compared to words with friends and lexulous
I have Peri, two ladies from our library started games.

howdy GE
hi good
hello goodenough

good no pop up ads, which are driving me nuts
maybe we should try scrabble, Mom, after these rounds are over
I want to invest in a scrabble dictionary :)
I keep checking the two letter list which has been helpful

gd evening whoever is h ere
peri, are you still here?
hi ruby
hi Goodie!
my dog has started ordering me around! She has developed a new, special bark, just for me. It's too funny
what does she want you to do ??
different things -- usually it's just "get up and cuddle"
the sick part is that I not only know what she wants, but I do it
ah true love
I used to play Scrabble fanatically. I played so much on line, i lost interest
I guess
I've been playing scrabble since the beginning. Still have my mother's original scrabble dictionary
now I play in lexulous and on FB
I think my father sold the game in our store
if you ever feel like it again, bichon, I'm always available
i used to play on a special on line game. Forgot the name
I play in www.lexulous.com, I think as nelliekelley, but will have to check
I forgot my name LOL
as I play so much I don't notice
bingo is a phantom!
i need to leave in a couple minutes. i'm feeling sick. i was to go spend the afternoon with my mother (she has cancer) we were going to watch movies, etc.....
sick, how, GE?
I played on Internet Srabble Club
my mom called a bit ago and said we have an appt at the funeral home today and i am not ready.
{{Good Enough}} thaty is very sad
hospice said its better to talk to them early and plan things out and we prob wouldnt want to do it during the holidays
i agree i just didn't know it would be today :(
GE, that is too bad. Luckily my parents made their plans and paid for them way in advance
this is more like what to do if she passes in the middle of the night etc...
I just read your profile, GE, you have a great attitude and sound very strong
my parents did what yours did, bichon, and when I moved to France, I had to sell "my" plot
My Mom has had cancer so many times and still has. She's going on 88
i have a great family and brothers and sisters to share the burden so we hang out and have fun every weekend for that i am thankful
How old is your Mom GE?
I've been reading articles lately about overtreatment and it's very interesting
Mom has had a radical mastectom, a lumpectomy and radiation on her lungs. Now she has it in her other lung
she is 85 and still lives at home with my 87 year old father!
my mother had breast cancer in her late 60's but died of stroke when she was 86
oh my bichon! you are carrying quite a burden too!
My mother had the radical mastectiomy in '59. They had no chemo then, just radiation.
what stage was her original breast cancer, bichon
asked and answered
In adition to her cancers, she has bloked arteries in her heart and lung obstruction. I don't know how she has the strength
it sounds like the lung C is a separate issue then
sshe sounds amazing!
It was an "early" cancere. They didn't have stages then, that i know of. They removed all of her lymph nodes. She's had lymphedema for years
well the time has come. prayers and hugs all 'round!
when I had it, almost 21 years ago, they took 32 lymph nodes (I was stage 2A) but I've been lucky not having lymphedema
{{will be thinking of you GE}}
you are a very luck woman. My Mom's arm is all balooned up and she has not use of it.
well my babble buddies, i must head to work, but before i go i give you the staggeringly, hugely popular crossys tid bit of the day!!!!
yes, I agree, very lucky
If she gets a scratch in the arm, it can get infected with cellulitis

Hi people.
any clues for the second E?
hello neil..I was wondering if the chog was broken
hi phae
Oh? Don't think so westford... and hi.
hi west
hi neil
en4,4 -- en + vowel + consonant, phaeton.
been having some lag
Oh, I see.
hello everyone, I just came in, typed a word and got a red box, anyone else have that happen?
And that goes up the middle, phaeton.
Hi flosey.
only one and everything is fine now, but it has been happening a lot while I'm here on son's computer
en 6/27, messenger
hi Neil
en **d people are over thirty is from the othr E
hi flosey no red boxes but no responses either
Nope. But I signed in then went off to do something for a while. So must've missed that.
how much longer do you have in TO?
I fly home next Thursday
cute pictures neil
Probably because some people had that error, westford. Could affect some and not all, maybe?
ty amelu..will look
have you been having nice weather?
Fly home from where?
so will have my sewing machine icon for another week!
Woops... thanks, westford.
my mother had one like that
I'm in Toronto Neil, both sons live here - at opposite ends of the citgy
**city
You have internet, so why can't you google image search for another one and put it in your profile, flosey?
Oh I see. I've been there... nice city, from what we saw of it. People we dealt with were very nice.
I don't spend that much time on the computer here neil, sometimes son steps in and finds a few words though
I see.
has Nathan grown a foot since you last saw him flosey?
Friday I am meeting up with some cousins I haven't seen for more years than I want to remember - it's too bad this happens
West, Nathan is about 1" shorter than I am now
I love my cousins we always have such fun together
Do I have the wrong icon for today's theme? Was mine for yesterday?
at that age they just spring right up
Oh yeah, guess it was. I'll change it back.
not sure neil..you can check Sprite's profile
I love your icon Neil, are 2 of them you?
are you going to try to follow the themes neil?
Jill had her young pic in last night
(or maybe it was yesterday)
I missed it. Did she say how old she was?
I was in very briefly last night - had been playing Yahoo bridge with hubby
her age is in her bio west
I mean in her young picture lol
oh, wondered why you'd be asking!
when you play bridge on Yahoo can you just play with 2 or do you join a table?
she was about 3 in her icon pic
and adorable
aww so it would have been taken when she lived in China
hi all
hi, all! finally have a minute or two to babble...
Yes flosey, the dark, curly haired kid obviously. The ginger haired kid with me in the bottom photo is my brother. Or was... changed it back already.
hi hursh
Hi Sue!
hi, neil!
so, help with the right O?
Probably, westford. But I need to organize something in Flickr first. I'll get to it eventually.
and hi to hurshy, west, flosey...
Hi Sue
and I could use help with that one too, hurshy!
(actually I am nowhere near nbt or nbs or anything else...)
or5,14 -- a space shuttle is in or*** sometimes.
oh i got one, ob4/6.
that is from the left, neil :)
Oh sorry, so it is. :(
Geez. I'm bad with that still... knowing which tiles words come off.
how about the 9 and 10 - what do they start with?
should have seen that one, neil, I talked to a group of teenagers about a book with that title (ending in -er) last night!
they just come from the first one they can, left to right, top to bottom.
in, hurshy (they were serendipically in the chat when I logged on this morning)
in10,70
in9,54
thanks neil and sue
i can't believe i didn't see them before.
They were, Sue?
ob4,6 and ob5,14
They start with that O in the right column.
I know they do! :P lol
the in9 and 10 - when I logged on earlier this morning someone had just clued them (and I am not shy about using clues from the chat, especially when I don't have time to finish the grid anyway)
Yeah, I see.
I need help with is6, please?
kind of like a piece of wood that is all by itself, flosey
is6,24 -- is + vowel again + portion of tree trunk, or a journal.
thanks sue, looking
or what neil said :-)
is7,36 -- plural of that.
is6,24 -- is + vowel again + portion of tree trunk, or a journal.
tyty got it
and I still think etrog should be a word...
well, I don't know what that would be Sue
used by Jews during Sukkot - there is a whole industry that provides etrogs of the finest quality
ah, thanks for that info
I mean, it's not exactly in common everyday use, but then how many words in the grids fall into that category anyway?
all too many imho
Haha, of course it should, Sue.
It's a citrus fruit, flosey... similar to a lemon.
It's a common word to us, Sue.
And like you say, there are many grid words not in common use.
oh, is it as bitter?
or I should say sour, not really bitter
Tastes very similar to a lemon, flosey.
hi all. can anyone clue the bo7?
But it's bigger... it's a medium-sized fruit.
thanks neil, will keep an eye out for that - easier to remember when you can identify it
bo7,36 -- arrive in this world + slang spelling of not day but n***.
don't have it, pigeonman
ty
thx, neil, tried it without the n
yw
not that they are in this particular grid, but "tech," "fest," and "internet" are not words, either - I think it's high time to update enable, lol
I agree rbud, I'd be lost without tech support
Hi again. Just got back from DH's doctor app't. and it looks like he needs 1 but more likely 2 surgeries in the near future. <Wondering if it's time for a trade-in?> ;-)
And I totally agree about an enable update too!
wow, that's pretty heavy Nef
when I turned 40, my hubby threatened to trade me in on two 20's
sorry for your DH, though, sounds rough
funny I didn't hear a similar threat at 50, hmmm
he went to the docotr without me about 2 weeks ago for knee pain; they decided it was his back (I couldn't go with him to that or the next app't.) The surgeon showed us his X-rays and MRI; he needs a laminectomy; but his knee problem is probably his ACL
so7? the second one?
To tell the truth; I couldn't handle a replacement! It takes too long to break them in! :-)
insert a T in previous so6
ty
yw
I hear that, Nef! :)
they wanted to do something like that to my hubby a while back, but he dawdled around about it...
now he's just been approved for disability because he can't work any more. MD - runs in his family. But - he had broken his back when he was young, and they thought they could operate to improve the aftereffects of that.
worried I'll be wheelchairing him in the near future, but for now, a cane seems to be enough.
will someone please clue oo6, I'd swear I've tried every possible combination - last word!
my DH was told 1 1/2 yrs ago he'd be in a wheelchair from then on (he has MS -runs in His family) and he's been walking again for the past year. But this past month has been tough again
oo6,18 -- oo + slang spelling of "not heavy".
thanks neil
yw
and that's fireworks
thanks, neil
Congrats. :)
yw, Nef.
yay, flosey!!
YAY, flosey!!! WTG!!!
thanks neil, rbud, Nef
yw again, flosey.
not must see if there's anything I can help with - may be in late tomorrow, brother is taking me up to our old stomping grounds to visit a dear friend
sounds like fun, flosey. I hope you have a good time
**now, not not
thanks Nef - she was one of many bridge partners over the years
are you planning to play a game or 2 with her?
Oh, always nice to see people again who you haven't seen in a long time.
bye for now
Take care flosey.
As usual; I know more non-words than real words right now
bbs; can't find any words right now
this is challenging!
Hi everybody... anybody?
Shucks.
hi all
soodle you still here?
i recon not i guess it is back to homework for me
*wonders if it is too early in the day for a jack*
9.30 pm here - have one for me jmc
heehee
Jmc...I'm back now. ....
(Jackless)
The sun is well and truly over the yardarm round these here parts, so a jack, a gin or a whiskey is perfectly allowable..
*Sound of Irish hitting shot glass*
Oh, Molls. to see a friendly face.
I had the worst news today. My brother has been diagnosed with gastric cancer.
Oh Soodle, I'm so sorry. What's his prognosis?
Gastric? Is that stomach cancer?
Well, they are still at the testing stages, Moll, but a tumor has been identified. More tests, then a meeting with all the boffins on Friday morning to discuss the treatment & ongong care. I'm stll a bit shell shocked
I lit a candle for him Soodle and I will keep your whole clan in my prayers.
Soodle, I am so sorry for your brother
Yeah, Sam, stomach cancer. Not a pleasant thought.
Oh lord. That's awful and terrifying. I
I'm so sorry.
So sorry Soodle...Father in law was diagnosed with cancer last week also.
Soodle, if I see Peach later tonight I will ask her to send healing his way.
Sea, sorry to hear about your father in law. I will keep your clan in my prayers as well.
ty Molly
Will there be surgery, chemo?
Oh thank you Molly, and thank you Bichon, Samantha & Seaspray. Positive thoughts are most welcome.
Its all a bit bizzare for us. My parents are both in their 80's. We are all in our 40's ot 50's. Never has a serious illness touched any one of us. It takes a bit of getting used to, I guess.
Not for FIL, at first they gave him a 50/50 chance of surviving surgery, now they say surgery is not an option and they don't think he is stron enough to survive treatment either. Meeting with doc tomorrow to find out how advanced it actually is.
How old is your FIL seaspray?
He is 88 Soodle but very active, until now.
Well then Soodle, you are a hearty lot and that gives your brother something to fight with. Sea, I'm sorry that your father in law's prognosis isn't better.
Major illness is hard to deal with Soodle, you just take it a day at a time. I found that out when my Dad had a severe heart attack and had triple by pass surgery.
Sea, I am so sorry to hear that about your IL. My thoughts and prayers are with him. and all of you. Its a terribly difficult time.
Soodle, is there an option to have him treated at a teaching hospital
ty Soodle and ours with you and your family. It is especially difficult when illness strikes a younger person.
We live near Yale university, one of the foremost teaching hospitals in the US. They have a big cancer treatment center. I would go there if i needed cancer treatment
I also found out today a friend of mine who has brain cancer has had a reoccurrence and must go for more treatment. He is in his late 50"s. Very sad.
thanks Bich.... he is in a teaching hsopital in Dublin. I have no fears about the care or treatment he is receiving. It is second to none. But all I can think about is Steve Jobs.... if money could have saved him, he would be alive today. I am sorry to be dragging down the mood of the chog, but I'm awful sad.
It's okay to be sad Soodle. You have to work through it.
((((Thanks Moll))))).
No Soodle. That's what we are here for. ruby and i were discussing breast cancer earlier. I'm glad he's at a big research center. Sometimes new leads in chemo can be found there
It's ok Soodle...we are here to chat with any time
And. I wou
I would jsut ask all of you to pray to whoever your God is, to think of him. Thanks.
What's his name Soodle?
Louis.
Louis O' Carroll.
Louis just went in my prayer jar.
Yay. Thank you ((((((((((Molly)))))))))
will do Soodle
Unfortunately Soodle I do not pray to God. But Louis will be in my thoughts
LOL, Bich... thats OK.., Your thoughts are much appreciated. ((((((Bichon))))))))0
I am utterly exhausted, and am going to bed. Ladies, from the bottom of my heart (and the heart of my bottom!!) thank you all. (((((Group Hug))))))))
Rest well Soodle
later Soodle. Rest is good
What's going on here in Babbleonia? My passport was revoked! I couldn't get in the country. I had to log-in. How do they expect me to remember who I am and what password I used? Anyone else have troubles?
No problem here gramma
I wonder if my puter is playing nasty games with me,
hello my dear babble friends
Quiet in here. Hello Trifioso
hello habes. Is that you in your profile pic?
I wish! It's my daughter, who was married on Saturday.
she is absolutely lovely! congratulations!
Thanks. It was really nice. Supposed to rain but it didn't.
what part of the country are you in?
Pittsburgh
I wonder if the system we are under now started in your area? it has been POURING here (Boston area) all day. But hey -- you don't have to shovel rain!
Habes, your daughter is gorgeous. What a beautiful bride she was.
We had some pretty heavy rain last week and I was really happy when it dried up long enough for the wedding. It rained again today. It's starting to feel like winter.
Thank you Molly. That's my name too.
Ah, a fellow Molly. : )
Yep
Mostly I get, "Oh my dog's name is Molly". : )
I know. I'm happy with my name though.
I really like the name molly. It always makes me think of a happy sort of person

OK, so that's 2 REALLY WEIRD words tonight, for me. And I thought things were going pretty well. Guess not!
Hello Babbleonia. How are things tonight?
Peach, Soodle was on earlier saying that she has just found out that her brother, Louis, has been diagnosed with gastric cancer. I told her if I saw you, I would ask you to send some healing his way.
Hi wht!
Oh...that
's awful Molly.
i'm sorry to hear that molly, i will add him to my prayers
That's good of you Beth. I'm sure all prayers and good thoughts will be appreciated.
i'm not really "churchy", but i have read studies where people who were included in prayer chains etc, fared better than those who did not. Every little bit of comfort helps
molly, what does your icon say? when i click on it I get a beautiful baby, not red words ...
That is an old icon you are seeing Beth. Today's theme is baby pictures, so that is baby me.
And I believe in the power of prayer and good thoughts too.
Thanks Molly, I just emailed her. There are all kinds of ways to ask a higher power (whatever or whomever) for healing, and if it not that soul's time to travel on, then good thoughts and all really work.
I'm so glad that we are all here together.
still can`t figure the 2nd so8 any other clues/
Good Peach, I know she will be glad to hear from you.
single fish catchers mom
I've seen it happen...and I was involved....well I was the conduit.
so8/40...so + The **** Ranger + place your be** (gambling term)
Peach, I think there is great power in the collective soul.
ty so much got it now
Yes, Molly, you are so right.
Cute clue for the so8 Beth. : )
: P thanks molly
i am busily searching for an easy baklava cookie recipe to bring to my mom tomorrow, i think i have found one useing a sugar cookie base and crumbled filo on top, not anywhere near as time consuming as my traditional baklava and my mom always appreciates the fact that i bring her something homemade
And well she should Beth. Those cookies sound delicious.
I hope so, if they are a hit i will put the recipe in my profile this weekend.
back again- with need for clue for so7 the2nd one -couldn`t figure the last clue i was given rather thick tonite i guess
May I please have a clue for pr5-12 the 1st? Thanks

that is the en5/16 beth. Maybe it is a French diplomat.
We speak the ***lish language, plural.
glad to help even if i am slightly misguidded
ty Molly
i think it is some kind of poetry term
most of what you speak with?
aha!
Do any Babblers teach English as a second language?
Minveryork does
I was just wondering about the possibility of teaching Enable to speak English.
That is not a possibility Wht, it would be more like a miracle.
i don't think that is within anyone's scope of ability wht. enable is uneducable
hi everyone! read Jillibus' profile for the explanation of enable and babble. :-)
en most of what you speak with, has me muttering to myself....help please? Thanks
tere is an explanation tobabble?? lol,it is the un-dictionary of the word game world
enable i mean
was rushed there..had a cat crisis
I don't see anything in Jilli's profile about explaining Enable or Babble.
she has it mostly right ibd, she just left out a tendency to use crude sexual and ethnic references :)
Hope it wasn't as bad as the cat crisis in Ohio, crossy
enable is kind of like murphys law in that "anything that can happen-will"
scroll down Molly, it is a brief paragraph explaining enables author :)
Found it Beth. Accurate to a tee.
hi crossy, long time no see. Thought of you yesterday, i was compiling my christmas cookie recipe list for this year, and came across a recipe for choc. covered bacon.
en + 3/5 of your speaking *****
Oh, thanks much, wht.
there is also a maple an nougut coated bacon
anbd there is a maple -pepper bacon that kate and will enjoy
bacon..it crosses all continents and joins all royals and commoners alike:))
maple nougat?? mmmmm i will have to look for a recipe for that as well
evening all
that makes me a commoner colonist bacon fiend
howdy jes
how's everyone?
Happy and grateful Jes, how are you?
hi jes
glad to be on this side of the dirt for yet another day:)
good thing too,i still have 20 or so books backlogged to read:/
can't die until you read all of them. and we'll keep adding to your reading list :)
i'm well, molly. though i had to make collections calls today at work, and that's no fun.
I hear you Jes, I have had to do that too. I much prefer collection letters. But sometimes phone calls are all that will work.
i start with calls. if i don't get a response, i send a letter
sigh..so many books,so little time ,i figured out once that at and average of 2 books a week we are limited to10,000 or so in our lifetiume;((
life time
I have to do them for our company, I always start as if possibly i have not posted their payments so as not to sound hostile. I am the only person in the office so i have some kind of relationship with most of our clients usually we come to some kind of payment schedule
did a couple letters today too; for people who've disconnected or changed their phone numbers
Jes, it gets hard when you have to start mentioning denying services for unpaid invoices, but that sometimes gets people to take notice.
have only had to do that a few times, molly. will usually still provide services, on condition that they pay in advance for everything we plan to do.
of course there are always a few that just dont pay. I have had to stop services on a few accts over the years. Some have called back some months later and asked to be restarted and then become abusive when i said we could but that it would be on a "payment must be received at the time of service" I was actually a little afraid of that loon
very small here too, beth... if possible, i'd like to keep most of these people as clients. i don't like sending people to collections, and generally only do so as a last resort after multiple warnings.
though, frankly, the number of warnings varies based on the amount of bs they fling me.
It's a fair deal, Beth and Jen. If someone has taken advantage of the credit you've given them, "pay up front" should be their only option.
some people are just so clueless though... we've actually had people that we've sent to collections come back later and ask if they could make payments on a new bill. HAH right, I'm that stupid.
Jes, the number of clueless in the world frightens me most days.
our "collections" is sending my boss to collect a check. We are very tiny, me 2 bosses, and 4 men on crew
i don't have time to go to peoples' houses and ask for money in person beth. some of these people are an hour's drive away, and I have things to do.
it's bad enough that i have to call people every month. if i can't get them by phone, i send a letter. if they still don't pay, a collections agency can call them. if the collections agency collects, they take a chunk, but whatever i get is more than i was going to get if they didn't pay anything.
Putting accounts into collection is a marginal win. The collection agency takes a big chunk of the payment for their "services".
Snap Jes.
most of our clients have been with us for many years - some as many as 30yrs. I couln't possibly make the personal visit but my boss doesn't mind
That is the benefit of a small company with long term business Beth. It's nice you have that option.
phone calls are as personal as i can afford, beth. if i started visiting houses to ask for money, i'd never be in the office to do my actual job. doesn't mean that i'm trying to be impersonal, just that it isn't physically feasible.
yes,i have been on both sides of sending in the hounds, and being the one hunted down..there are no winners
and some of the people i'm calling have been clients for ages--i try to work with them as much as possible, but i've gotta stay in business. there're a couple i'm letting pay in firewood, for instance.
yes, jes,i extend much credit, but one can only do so much once it goes past 90 days
Hi. Jess you do good
That is very nice of you Jes. I'm sure those people appreciate that.
got one guy that is 6 months from his last payment, and owes over $800. i'm trying to work with him, because i know he's not just dicking me around--wife's been seriously sick all year, and the 10 year old is a diabetic, but for craps sake, send $10 to keep the account current!
in my own business,i end up sitting on over 5 thousand dollars of recipts..itis hard
I'm not saying you should, just how it is for us. there is not enough time in the day to do it all, I limit my "personal" appearances to the occasional times a check has to be delivered for damages our crew incurred - like the time our crew dropped a cleaning cloth in the godiva chocolate strawberry melting station. that needed a very apologetic, sincere person
he keeps saying he's trying to get a couple hundred to come in with all at once, and he hasn't managed it in 6 months, so he keeps getting late fees, and at some point i HAVE to send it to collections or i can't anymore...
Jes, it's amazing how many people don't understand how much a small good faith payment will keep them afloat.
Hi
what kind of business jes?
Hi Herin.
a good faith payment would be a blessing molly!
hii herin!
Howdy
veterinary clinic
so part of the monthly phone call schtick is explaining that to a bunch of people.
service station here..i sell a product that people ahte to buy in the first place
But Jess also rescues cute furry things too :D
hate
do you run tabs crossy?
i used to,,but it got too crazy
service station? like fuel? how do people accrue debt there? I thought that was strictly a pay-as-you-go deal?
people would tab their smoke habbit and that would add up too fast
ah. yeah... i'd consider that "elective" and not allow payments on it anyway, crossy :)
i'm more lenient on emergency things
i am a softie jes..just 20dollars till our diability cheque comes in...
Crossie there was a service station around the corner from my house and that was our local place we were really good with them. My ex's Brother in law gave them our number as he had no money. We knew nothing about it. So I told them that we were good with them and send the cops after him as we had no idea.
i need gas to get to littlebillys chemo treatments..and on it goes
yeah... i will not charge someone who's not present unless they give me specific authorization for it, lady.
but enough of me whining..i amcarrying over 5grand of other peoplesdebt, and times are hard foreveryone
Hi all. I run a bar and we do not do credit at all! The people who used to run the place allowed long term tabs but we are pay as you go.
Hi Pint
we have one woman who's constantly paying her kids' bills, because her kids are losers. and every time the kid comes in and says "phyllis is paying" i call and ask her.
i think my accounts receivable right now is around $20,000.
our co used to run a tab with one of our small gas stations,we paid in full every week, we have 4 vehicles that we gas up daily. it was a good deal for him, we never filled up anywherre else, and our men did'nt have to carry cash. when he sold, the new owner wasnt interested in that arrangement so now we pay cash dailly at a different station
that is sad jes
most of that is current/in payment accounts, thankfully.
at 4 cents a litre here bethn, yopu would need to run 5000 litres for it to be wothwhile to us now
We just had our old vet retire. I have to go to them for Pandora's injections. I now have to make a choice as to whether or not we stay with the clinic based on how she is with the vet
masrgins are too tight
5000 litres a week**
2.2 lit to gallon
Jes, you are doing something right with only $20,000 in accounts receivable.
should be zero, molly. officially, we don't take payments!
we told them we were willing to give them a large sum up front so they would always be ahead, i think it was too much bookkeeping for them. I love the word "bookkeeping" 3 sets of double letters in a row : )
and our fuel when droppedi n our tanks must be paid in full within 24 hours sitting one 500 lotres for credit does not do us any favours
and that's gonna get more official if the state keeps on with trying to classify anybody that takes payments as a lender, and makes us do all the credit checks and "red flag" crap that banks have to go through.
anyways i am done with this grid,,good night all.poink!!
Night Crossies
sleep sweet, crossy!
Jen, if that happens, I guess you will have to go the route of many physicians and ask for payment at the time services are rendered.
we do, molly. and the bulk of our clients pay at the time...
I really do not want to take brat cat to the vet
but there's always someone who wants to do hold checks, or "can't I pay half next month?", and then I end up with a pile of bad/bounced checks and a list of phone calls because they never did send a payment.
nite crossy sleep tight
what's wrong with the brat?
It's really unfortunate this happens to you jessdragon. I know you perform the services because you care what happens to the animals but if this keeps up you won't have the luxury of that choice. It sucks that people don't understand that.
She needs her annual check up but the vet Dr Roach retired. He was really good with her. As she was badly neglected we have to be very selective of who we go to as she gets all pissy and then takes it out on bags by wizzzing on them
hi all

the high profile lawyer believes the parents did not do anything to the baby
indeed sue
The high profile - WELL PAID - lawyer ...
i used to play myst back in the day
Jen I can't say either way on that but it just sounds sus. I feel that some of the comments made by the parents seem off.
the story sounded off from the beginning to me
Jen, from what I've read about that story, the parents seem guilty as sin.
if he's the parents' lawyer that's basically his job, jen, he has to defend them
thought i'd come back to finish but i'm not even near halfway. oh well.
oh i know, but who knows, they got a warrant to search inside and outside the house
Hi Good
it just seems that there wasn
To me it doesn't make sense the part about the lights being on and she or the kids didn't stir
Ah well, he is a lawyer who likes to defend the seemingly guilty. He defended Jordan VanDersloot. Need I say more?
wasn't enough time to kill and bury her somewhere
Gods if this was me and you have nothing to hide I would have let the police strip the house bare trying to find her
you are all welcome sorry trying to get this grid done just started a few ago

don't worry, mel, I don't have much time now that the semester is well underway, and will be happy to get half way

bi + canadian provence ***ario
how many bi words? I have one, lol
4 bi's
I have 2 4 letter ones
Ok. Here is my thought. Husband goes to work. The other kids didn't stir right? and the little one goes missing? Wouldn't you test the other kids for drugs and alcohol to make sure they were not drugged to sleep through everything.
considering the Mom said she was drunk
hhmmmmm....
bo + b*** me!
LOL- ty Dawger
thank you strange word
bo4.6 string tie
Sorry it is just the way my brain thinks. If someone moves in my house I have to be off my face on cold drugs or booze not to sense movement
Mountain Man, danial bo**ne
oops

Besides if you are alone and you have young kids why would you be drinking? Small kids can wake during the night. Seems damn irresponsible to me
