ah, my young Palawan apprentice, you have far to go..
quite a writeup jilli - are there skunks here? have not encountered one in 16 years on SSI
ty m9 & diz
No skunks here as far as I know -- no foxes either, who smell about the same
what do you mean "playing with hubby ?"
really, didn't know that jilli
don't get any funny ideas, ruru
lol
140 down and not seeing any more at the moment -- good night everyone :)
lol ru, we were talking about the game of bridge - you old rascal
*bets flosey "trumped" him good*
didn't know that either, flosey, until I went to an exhibit at McGill's Macdonald College years ago -- phew! Thought there was a skunk nearby but it was a fox's home.
are you a bridge player ru?
i'm studying a bit..my friends in Oregon sent me a couple of books to bone up on it
ruru, you don't trump your partner if you want to stay alive
I only trump him when playing against him
Study Audrey Grant's books, ruru.
gotta watch out for friends in Oregon...
yes, they're excellent books ru
that was all I could think of for a joke
trumps when stumped
to trump him would be a bridge over troubled waters
NICE one!
:)
lol good 1 flosey
haha flo
I always get bridge confused with garfunkel.. er I mean peanuckle
or however that game is spelled
you mean pinochle?
to 7/48

beyond precious!!!
so glad I hadn't left yet
thanks Dee, was afraid I had taken too long getting it resized
how old?
28 months
such a sweet age; Christmas will be sooo much fun for you!
He looks ready to tackle the world...full of energy and sparkle
yes, it will be fun
thanks for sharing!
and thank you for you kind words,
you are so welcome... I can't wait to have grandkids some day!
incidentally, when I was in Toronto, took a pic of 13 yr old grandson with gramma - he is exactly same height as I am
I waited a long time Dee
bet that was a huge shock
did you?
I am so glad you enjoyed your trip and were able to see them.
yes, to more than I! his mom is philippino but he has taken his height from his dad
that is great for a boy
both dtr and dil were over 40 - dil didn't think there would be any
but they were very pleasaantly surprised - and HAPPTY
HAPPY
great encouragement! Our daughter will be 29 when she gets married in Jan., so think it will be a while for grandkids. I bet they were. I waited 10 years for my daughter.
had endometriosis, so was really blessed to "get" her :)
definitely makes you appreciate them
eldest dtr had/has endo and has been blessed with a pigeon pair (6 and 4 yrs old)
interesting, I too was 29 when I married and we had two more years of college before hubby started to teach
sweet!
neat flosey!
made it, had first month before he started teaching
what did he teach?
physics
must have been extremely smart!
he use to read everything the travelling library brought through here
great minds are like sponges; have a brother like that... also remembers everything he reads
from a very young age
how long did he teach?
I think about 37 years
amazing

helloooo from down under
COOOOOEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!
jeez you're loud...I can hear you from down here!
LOLOL, hey lyn
How are you Rose
lyn, absolutely marvellous...have new herbal remedy for my fibromyalgia from the usa.....watch me go, girl
and you?
I'm very very well.
yay, lyn....i'm about 75% thru a bottle of brown brothers lexia...don't care who killed the cat....sleep is a wonderful thing, and i've had lots of it over the last few nights
are you serious about the cat?!
AND...........tomorrow i am 13 weeks without a cigarette!!!!!!!!
well....don't have a cat at the mo'....himself is allergic to the dander
very well done!!! no going back now....are you still dieting too?
that's starts tomorrow, whenever that is *grin*...off the champix for 2 weeks now....have to arrange a visit to my gp, see what he has to say about helping me wi4 the weight problem....mind you, i lost 10 kg due to the nausea from the champix
what do you think the GP will suggest?
*shrug* not sure, but he did say that WE would work together re my weight...suggests to me he has something in mind
Mine just says lose some weight - not exactly helpful. Bring back the 'diet pills' I say!
maybe i can convince a dentist to wire my teeth together....hmmmm...how do you vitamise a mars bar?
My daughter did the hypnosis/lapband operation thing yesterday...will be interesting to see if it has any effect
why isn't "yoyo" a word?
because dieting isn't in the grid
ouweachita.....should be by my account, but it ain't....enable can be very me4
lyn did you see the article on 'current affair' ? about the guy who was hypnotised into thinking he had lap band surgery?
That is what my daughter did yesterday - but no, I didn't see that article/program
did it work for him?
*sigh* looked very interesting, but was working....do so hope it works for your daughter. does she have much to lose?
yes, lyn, apparently he lost 70kg? i think
She has a LOT to lose.
hopes and prayers for lyn's daughter....just let it work, Lord
Moderately expensive but she picked up initial session on Scoopon so it only cost her $80 for initial session...down in Frankston.
hmmm, not so far wi4 ea4 link nowadays
Yeah, was easy train trip from here for her. Let me know if you want more details. I might try it myself if it works for her
*giggle* discount for bulk billings?
oh my!!!! didn't me4 to be so punny?
lol - perhaps 'bulk' is a good choice of word in this instance
do you look at Scoopon? sometimes have quite good deals on
oops - need to look at chicken - BBS
no, must check it out....think i did once a long time ago, will get himself to look, actually.
okey dokey, lyn, i'm off to chihuahua now, nice seeing you. have a good one, my friend
m
morning all
good morning :)
hiya deb :D
that Y in the left corner should have been a G!
I'm having trouble with the r in the second row and the o's in the third and last row...
:( I have just started, am still in the random typing phase. If I see one, I'll help!
I'm always in the random typing phase :)
*giggles*
super cute profile pic!
thank you :) Makes me wanna cuddle that little tummy.
last col O om 5 and 6
hi dizzie :)
hey sprite
thanks for the Os
bottom row is oa4/4
thank you :)
every time I find an R it is from the top row, lol
try re 4:5 for 2nd row r
I found ry4/6 from there though. Still looking for your re, dizzie.
thanks for the ry, Sprite
so far I have 3 ry 4, but dunno from which R..lol
yvw :)
catcher in the ***- is from the left one, the unrest in the streets is from the right. Don't know the other, lol. yet.
don't forget the 'jolly' pirate flag and pl (but from top R)
ah I see, the things a car rides on. Thanks for the pirates!
Rs removed
things a car rides on?
wtg dizzie
yeah. The bottom things of a car. The rubber stuff.
oh, the ty. I thought you were talking about R's ;)
oh dear. I seriously need coffee. I thought I was talking about the Rs.
oh that reminds me.... my coffee is ready !!!!!
oh please bring me a cuppa!
just fixed it. I like two little scoops of hot chocolate in mine. I have enough to share !
I would love that. I usually drink wiener melange instant anyway, lol.
I might lol if I knew what that was :)
hahahaha sorry I thought that was common stuff, it is here. Coffee from Vienna, it has chocolate in it.
cool.
usually hot, but I know what you me4 ;)
lol
did you find the second R from the second row yet?
I can drive my son crazy with remarks like that, and of course he has hundreds of them, as a true blue teenager.
A young co-worker of mine asked "what are you up to, Debbie?" I answered 5'3" - he didn't get it - hee hee
roflollllll. My son said: 'wazzup' and I said nothing much except my blood pressure. He groaned.
:) :)
I love silliness like that
so do I. And so does my husband. The kids hate us sometimes, lol.
I picked up old phrases that my 85 year old mom says like "heavens to betsy" people ask where that came from and what does it mean...... I have no idea :)
the other r from the 2nd row is another ry4.
yayayayayay I got it - ty!!
lollll I love it. The fun thing is, usually when you use a phrase like that, the meaning will be clear from the context.
yvw :)
halfway, and slowing down.
just googled the origin of "heavens to betsy" - it said the origin was completely unsolvable
oh wonderful :D
do you have clues for the bottom N? I have na4,6
I have that one and ni4
just got the ni4 :0
good :)
oh, na5 of course.
of course !! hee hee
sometimes you just can't see them
oh I know! Happens to me all the time. Babble blindness.
the coffee was delicious, btw
yes, I think I'll have a second cup :)
yummy :)
one more H........ have all the "easy" ones
the southern drawl one?
i mean from the first column
hi4/5 for the southern drawl word
got hi4,5
two are 'clue' words, then the southern one, then slap and its anagram
"slaps" I mean.
*happy dance* I found the 8! All by me ol' lonesome.
yay for you ! I love when I do that
same here. I usually need clues or at least a first letter.
ok, got the southern one and greyed that H
wtg!
hi all
hi carlee
morning car!
oops need to change icon
good morning
hi ruby !
hey rubyfoo :)
no, carlee, let's keep Halloween as long as possible to forestall (early) Christmas!
{{sprite}}
hi debjed
what does that 8 start with, sprite?
well..i have my black cat "boo" up now...
we do animals today, ruby... I have this sweet little kitten
on the way to lunch today, we'll stop t the cemetery so that I can take pix of the wonderful memorial flowers
it starts Wa, deb
must be pretty there, ruby
<----- waking up
they really do lovely things but I don't understand why they don't just plant the chrysanthtemums instead of buying new pots every year.....
I wanted to walk down there yesterday, but lacked the energy, even tho it's not far
<-- sending rRuby to woof carlee up!
I was up at 5am. But am not complaining, because I totally crashed yesterday afternoon, went to bed, slept till supper, went back to bed and slept till 5.
they would need a lot of watering through summer, ruby. That might be the reason?
i crashed early too ( 10 ) was a busy day... its 5:30 am here now... i have a long morning at work then school...staying in london..hoping i have my 2 deferred date tomorrow evening..but i lso start tutoring tomorrow too
thank you sprite!! got that 8 :)
wtg deb!
busy schedule, carlee
we didn't have to water the flowers even once this summer, except for the baby lila
woot deb
lilac* the rain seemed to come just often enough but maybe the cemetery is too limited
well..i opted for tutoring ...1 b/c going into teaching and 2 i have 6 1/2 hours to fill
lol... yeah ok, this summer. Which summer? Oh the one last month :D
we were very lucky with the weather. Our punishment will probably be a long, cold, wet winter....
well friends, 88 left. I better get to the gym. Thank you for the company and the help - be back soon
I opt for a very cold, freezing winter with lots of sun.
bye deb, have a great workout!!!!
bye deb, have a grand day :)
I'd like a repeat of last year -- all the snow in Dec and then warm, sunny and dry
Makes these old bones feel better
my bones don't mind freezing temps, but they hate the wet.
as for snow... I love it, at Christmas or on New Year's Day. When nobody needs to travel. For the rest... nah. Overrated.
although I love the snow, it is a major inconvenience as we live on a hillside and it becomes virtually inaccessible
yes, I can imagine. I will hope then that no snow will visit you this year.
we were only snowed in for 2 days last year, so I shouldn't complain, especially considering what went on in the US!
indeed. We had a lot of snow last year too. But then, we are used to it.
when we first came here (OMG, almost 15 yrs ago), there was much more snow
it seems global warming is local ;)
I think what's scary is the widespread "odd" weather
too much here, not enough there, etc
but that is from all times too. It's just that you hear more about it nowadays.
maybe, but the amount of snow and wind, etc, in NY was really strange. My poor sister!
yes, weather has been odd there
I must say, we have had 2 lovely days. Coldish, but sunny and clear. This morning we are deep in the mist. We couldn't see the other side of the street early this morning.
my head is deep in the mist, but more than half without nbt. see you later (in lex, cass, I hope)
*poof*
would be nice :) Have a grand day, ruby, and see you later.
it has been really weird weather here in Aus, one day we are sweltering although twas only October, the next we are looking for our winter woolies.
ok..back...
we are supposed to have a LOVELy day here today..highs of 16
wb carlee

Oops. I meant to say: Good day to all. LOL!!
Quite the entrance and good day to you too, Scrabbs...LOL
How was your hike with your sister?
Sorry, Annie. That was not the best word to accidentally put in the chat. But it sure is making me laugh.
It made me laugh also
We had a wonderful hike in the Erie County Forest. There was still some snow deep in the woods. It had snowed last Thursday. I work this morning then she + I will hike again. Tomorrow she leaves.
It sounds like a great visit
We have fun--Scrabble, hiking and lots of laughing--when we are together.
Good morning Bobby! What sport do you follow when baseball is done? Hockey?
Scrabbs, Bobby is shaving. I went into the bathroom and asked him and he said college and professional football. He says "hi"
Does he have favorite teams? My father went to Purdue, my mother to Syracuse. And in the NFL I root for our Buffalo Bills.
The Jets, that even I know (myself not a football fan)
In baseball he loves the Mets and he like Boston. I cannot believe him because I am a devout Yankee fan. We have a New Years party every year and he always get a gift. This year he asked for a Youkilis T shirt. Can you imagine wearing that in a New York household. I shudder.
Haha.
118 to go. I must get ready for work. Enjoy the day!
you too, scrabbs, bye
Annie, I have the same problem in my family. I'm a devout Redskins fan and one of my sons went traitor on me and likes the Cowboys. Kids.
Molly, it makes for some interesting games tho.
That it does. : )

any one need a clue before I leave?
congrats Ouwachita
chita, would like a clue for or6 please
Mr p u here
and congrats
either the ey7 or the he7 would be great
plural of last Greek letter
I am right for the time being chita
pigeon, what you see with and using soap and water
Or6 is stubborn
oops...you wanted or6....compound phrase with me4/5
hate it when they're such a simple word. thanks though
Tha nks Molly, I always miss that one
ey7 is rinsing your orb
he7...add a couple of letter onto the bird
Right I need sleep later gators.
wow. thanks ouwa.
pigeon didn't like my clue?? thanks man!! :)
sorry. didn't see it.
i worked tonight... 3 hours of reffing... and had to red card two players in girls comp.... i was so upset about it!!
they have put the y's to good use in this grid
but I don't make the rules, I just enforce them... both girls (from different teams) handballed in the penalty box during a goal scoring opportunity... I really don't like to red card for that... but it is the rules. The girls cry when they get red cards. The men just yell and throw their handbags.
and last night, I had to sinbin a couple of team mates from the SAME team for fighting!! holy moly!! they need to readdress their team dynamics!
what's sinbin
?
in summer football... we play small fields in darn hot conditions at night... so only 5 players on the field. Because of the heat... it was decided that people can get 'heated' and the sinbin was created as a way to 'cool off'.
oh.like a penalty box in hockey?
if players get cranky and carry on and it isn't quite a yellow card, I can put them in the 'Sin Bin' for a period of up to 2 to 5 minutes... helps them cool their heals and come back with a 'nicer' persona... rather than anger them further with an official caution. If they do it again, they are off!
i had to laugh. sounds like putting children in a time out.
indeed pigeon... I sent two players off from both teams yesterday for being arses and they came back on nice as pie!!
it is!! these guys were 40 years old!!! LOL
we should be able to do the same to our political leaders. (don't want to start a political discussion though)
Done. Nice grid. anyone like a clue before i leave?
how is yoyo not a word?
I was wondering that myself, beth
if I caution a player officially with a card, it is because it is deserved... but being hot and bothered is really due to the conditions of our summer, so they get 'discretion' from me.
have a great day/night everyone, bye dear babblers
and if the 12 year olds do something that is 'red card' worthy, I sin bin them for 5 minutes and let them back on... I am not a biyaitch!
night annie!! :))
yoyo is a brand!! i thought it would have been introduced into English myself!
and yo-yo is the official way of spelling too
but, what do I know... I am chatting football, watching football, breathing football, and trying to overcome my horrid day. blessed be anyway
if yo-yo is just the brand name, then what are those little buggers called?
will go look it up pigeon... brb
(They're called yo-yos. The brand name has passed into the generic word. But it's spelt with hyphen.)
ball bearing axle with a string!
still it has a hyphen so is not considered in babble
as vicuna said :)
hi vicuna :) long time no see
Hello. =)
fireworks
on ya pigeon!
Yay for pigeonman!
ok, as it is thursday, i need to go sleep as I have a 5km run in the morning and then a day of packing. joy. night all :)

Phooey, why am I still a pumpkin. I changed it.
YES! flowers. Hi again
I see flowers.
you're in the grid!
Hi Molly!
I'm in the grid!
Hi Hurshy
hi
Hego, I see your lovely lilies when I click on your pumpkin
good morning everyone
Hi Flosey
Hi Flosey. What a cute little monkey.
thanks Molly, that is William, my Vancouver grandson
He's a cutie for sure
thanks Hego
: )
Good Morning Everybody. How are you all today? (NBT)
Hi Nef!
good morning Nef, great thanks, and you?
howdy nef
Crossy has a new wolf!
doing well so far today! :-)
Flosey, it's funny because I was reading the text in your profile and I thought "that's not an owl, it's a monkey." : )
indeed hego! likemy new woofie?
Yup! : )
Everyone has really nice pictures today.
lol Molly, I did start off with the owl but changed to show William's costume last night - but also animal
guess I should change writeup
4 times a year i offer a new wolf
Oh, I see the new one when I click on your icon crossy
seasonally?
never thought ofit that way hego, but it works;0
I hope that you change your socks more often than your icon, crossy! ;-)
lol
i do indeed! once every 2 weeks or when they stand on thier own
( knew an old man who said he changed his socks with the season; he was in the nursing home when I was a teenager working there)
You know how these north woods types are.
:) hehe
hmmm Crossy, just when you have them so nicely broken in - can just step into them
LOL!! I do1
Ohhh. so wrong. lol
Can you imagine the smell?
ugh!
wellwhat you do is only buy those thick wooly hunting socks, and you wear themtillyou getholes on the bottom, then you turn them so the holes are on top, then when that is all the way through, you can use it as a sweat band
Did the nsg home really let him do that?
Gross! Crossy.
no, they didn't let him do that. He was protesting the fact that he HAD to change his clothes every day!
So funny.
could I have the stats for the 8 please?
wa8/70
Hmmm...
thanks, flosey
starts with 5, 7, 8
LOTS of W's today!
as in a bet?
no crossy, another wa5/22 though
use the same first 3 letters crossy - and good morning everyone
hi river
Hi River
howdy rivfer
GOT IT with the stats! Thanks Flosey! :-)
hego you are in the grid today.....its hego day
yw Nef
tx for the clues
flo
*Puts apple pie and ice cream in the PB for Hego Day*

Wait up Flo!
Of course it's still warm. Who eats cold apple pie?
when I click on apostrophe, often miss and hit enter
wonderful Molly, love it
me too
<---eats cold apple pie
Now we know.
we have a small orchard here, one of the trees is around 100 years old, gravenstein - not a good keeper but I slice and freeze them for winter baking
crossy offersup a hot dutch apple crumble pie, with a wedgeof wensleydale cheese and a scoop of french vanillia ice cream
Ooo, I would love to have an apple tree.
that darn O in the right column is beating me...
oooooo Crossy
be right there crossy
Happy Hego Day!
last letter of greek alphabet river
River, the greek letter
me too rive
hello everybody
Okay, we'll just junk my pie. : (
<<<< loves hot dutch apple crumble pie
Hi folks. Am back. We had no power for 3 days due to the Halloween snowstorm here in CT
no no Molly, never
We already finished your pie Molly
how spooky is that?
We don't have internet at home due to the land line being out
I love apple pie..send it over here molly
Hi Ruby and Bichon
<-- wants pie!
It was hellish. But, lots of folks have it much worse
Give Ruby pie!!
jeez bichon.. i know dorens power has been out too
<-- doesn't want snow!
we use cable internet as the 3/4 G is waaay too expensive here
Fortunately it wasn't bitterly cold. We camped in our kitchen with the fireplace going
I was asking about you bichon yesterday if anyone had heard from you
we were lucky - power only out 18 hours but did get 23 inches of snow
when power goes off here (usually due to high winds, occasional snow storm) I love the silence, it's almost eerie. But, if it stays off too long, we do have generator that hooks up essentials
it got much colder here yesterday.. it dropped from 78 to 72
that remindscrossy to digout the "seeners" andclean and fill them and have themin place
you New Englanders have certainly had a miserable year of weather!!!
we didn't get much snow, but as the leaves were still on the trees, they knocked down the power lines. Some towns are totally without power and will be for a week.
ah, poor ru, chilling out?
Some towns have trees and live wires blocking roads.
we still have alot of folks in my state without power too
we get power outages (many short ones) for no apparent reason
wires are below ground
Some places won't have school all week. We have no phone so I am here at Wesleyan's library for the day.
what a mess bichon, sounds like it will take a few days to clean up
we also have wires below ground.
when we were re-modeling the house, especially the kitchen, a French friend said that I must get gas for the stove top. Was she ever right!
Has to be big to knock us out.
Our community's wires are below ground, but that doesn't really mean anything if the wires which come here are above ground
aaah, didn't think of that
We were so bored, we played Boggle
crossy misses hisoldgas range!!!
I have gotten much better at it now that I play Babble
here it's annoying because phone and everything else is electric (except the burners lol)
<....Got to have a gas range.
I prefer gas oven, too, but am afraid of them, so put in electric
I wish we had gas too
nothing like cooking on a proper flame
we used our camp stove out in the garage
many people here have those glass stove tops
I like having a flame for things like roasting peppers or sauteing things quickly
we werent out long enough to get our out....went out for dinner on Sunday - that was a bonus
or making Crepes Suzettes!!!
hego is in the grid today.. yeah!
iloveit forflambe cooking
: )
ymmm ruby
yippee! doc cleared my Bear to have a shot of Adequan (pain killer) he's been off his Rimadyl since the stroke, and I hate for him to hurt
mmmm crepes....
Out for dinner, every place was blacked out, including gas stations. We went to our daughter's house Mon. night to take showers and see the grand daughter
I promise any babbler who visits, crepes, crepes, crepes!!!!
thanks for the idea ruby, haven't had crepes since moving here! too long, must make them again
My DH would be there tomorrow Ruby
who is your Bear, shy?
we travelled up to Concord - the city had power - 30 minutes away
shady,when didhe have the stroke?
oh shdy...
how do people in France not get obese?
only if you come along; one husband is plenty (more than)
Thursday it will be 2 weeks
doggie Ruby
and did he get treatment in that 3 hour "magicwindow"
they smoke, bichon
lol ruby
they drink a lot of wine bichon
lots of boozeand smokes
for me, the secret is eat whatever I want but don't eat, if I don't feel like it. The calories seem to be steady that way
yes, it took abut 10 minutes for me to decide we were going to doc, he started high dose iv prednisone and some diuretic the name of which is lost to me
drinking and smoking make you thin?
what kind of dog, shy?
well, yeah, bichon!
shdy*
good, iamgladthey gottohimfast..makes all the difference during rehab
it seems that everybody who quits smoking gains 20 lbs within 5 minutes!
and gladyou actedsoquickly
he's some kind of newfie mix, but only about 90 pounds at his max, the brown one in the pic, but that's about 7 years ago
hi again, all!
having trouble with the space bar crossy?
i gained 30when i quit ruby
<-- loves Newfies!
Since i've been taking Ritalin I have been losing weight
indeed ru
I gained 20
are you skinny, bichon?
hehe, bichon, ritalin is speed lite
watch that ritalin bichon..notgoodforkidneys
*calls dr for ritalin prescription*
no way ruby, I could lose 20 more
speaking of alcohol, guess who wants his martini.....
see you later
Bye Ruby
believeme,iknow
if you do, send it over here, please!
I must go too. BBL
isn't that a chow?
Ritalin does have it's side affects. BP goes up a bit. And, can't take it too close to bed time
ritalin is horrid stuff, you are better off with dexadrine or adderal
can't take it then
last 2 are timerelease
Interaction at the beginning of today's class: Student: When is our test? Me: It was on Monday. Student: We had a test on Monday? Me: *quietly pounds head on wall*
poorsue
i'll stick with the wellbutrin and xanax, thank you
My doctor doesn't think that way.
welbutrin alsohas it bad side
iusedthat toquit the smokes, but itmakeone feelfunny
I can feel funny without drugs
I used to take Welbutrin, but didn't think it helped me
personally, I don't think ritalin is a bad med if monitored closely. Crossy, I've never heard of kidney problems with it before (but will check that out
typical student: "do we have to buy the book?" Me: "No." Student: "Do we have to come to class?" Me: "no, you have to pay tuition, beyond that, it's between you and your parents!! go away, please!"
I started antidepressants about 3 months ago but am thinking of quitting them - I'm not depressed, there's just a lot of stuff going on in my life that I need to deal with
lol, shdy! Works for me :-)
my son was on ritalin for a few years before it hit his kidneys, but we were forced at the time as the school refused to take himunless drugged..then dexadrine and finally adderall
I haven't had any real problems with Ritalin, and now I can concentrate on what I am reading
funny, i started the wellbutrin for the never leaving the house thing, but now only smoke about twice a day, seems it works for that!
try the time release onesbichon
but each to thier own
they are way more expensive than generic Ritalin. I take one in the morning and one in the early afternoon
babblepharmacy.com
okay; I've been on Ritalin for 42 years for Narcolepsy. Just checked and it doesn't cause kidny problems but can cause necrotizing vasculitis
necrotizing vasculits sounds bad Nef
a kidney operation is more expensive still
but iwillleave it at that
my grad student tutees love me, i make the material make sense. My undergrad real students hate me, i cannot tolerate their laziness and don't hide it!
crossy, what happened to your son?
i'm thinkin' swollen and rotting veins is probably a bad thing?
necortizing vasculitis is not pretty
necrotizing
i think i'd rather randomly fall asleep, especially since i don't do that without meds, ever
I'll have to ask my doctor Nef.
wow, in a big circle, back to last night, huh?
shdy, one semester I was teaching both Physics 1 and Physics 3 (both calculus-based courses for engineers). On my student evaluations, the Physics 1 students said I was absolutely terrible and should be fired; the Physics 3 students said I was the best teacher they'd ever had. (They had already had Physics 1 and 2, from other people, and knew how hard they are!)
shdy, falling asleep while driving or working just isn't a safe thing to do. I've fallen asleep on a stepstool, while making spaghetti sauce, etc. Not good.
sue, totally get it! i was a physics 2nd major as an undergrad, some profs made it easy, others made it hard. Now that I've taught for a while, i would have shot me as an undergrad, or maybe adored me for my independence - nothing in between
my favorite physics cartoon - hold on, finding a link
I was raised by an Aunt who was a teacher and county superintendant of schools. None of the 6 of us kids chose teaching as a profession
most of the physics 1 students don't realize that physics is complicated and tend to blame the professor when they don't understand it, sigh
nef, my mother was a kindergarten teacher, and I swore I would never teach - I originally started working at a university because I wanted to do research. It took several years of teaching before I was really comfortable with it, and a few more before I really started to like it a lot. Now I really love to teach, although I am still not fond of grading.
I loved physics in high school and would have like to take it in college; but that wasn't in my nursing courses and I never took it when I did have the chance
here's the haha: http://bottomoftheclass.com/wp-content /uploads/2010/05/elephant.png
I've seen that one, shdy, very cute!
what a hoot, shdy! :-D
my other favorite, i' such a dork, i bought the shirt, and wear it in public, lmao: http://www.cafepress.com/+find_x_dark_ dark_tshirt,476062651
sue, i would have given that kid full credit for making grading fun
er
alright, enough fun, i think i should probably work, it is a weekday! have a great day everyone!
brb, need to check on DH
crossy likethe "find x" toon ..lol here itis!
back. I heard a loud thump and thought he'd fallen; turns out the cats knocked over a full packing box (balanced on the edge of a bed)
I love that shirt too
stats for the right o, please
om 5/16 and pl
ty nef
there is a good book by that title "The Om*** Man
in physics, om5 stands for angular velocity :-)
aka "iamlegand"
funny how a word ascociated with finality and endings and aloneness can be velocity in other areas
physicists are weird, crossy
also, that's lower case; the upper case letter stands for, among other things, the average density of the universe
that is why we lock themin classrooms
:)
<--- has the key to the classroom
acck! crossy runs!...brbsemi-poink!
poink? with did i miss?
apparently crossy has the runs, jane :-)
um, been there, done that (desparately trying to find common ground...)
(I am joking, of course, he had to run off for some reason; I am sure he will be back shortly and tell us what is up)
either that or I chased him off talking about physics...
hi Harp long time no see!
you probably out-did him, sue; I was laughing when I read that! :-)
ok, back to writing lectures. Will keep one eye on the chat in case any clues show up :-)
ts
Help, please, for go6,33 -- I'm truly stuck!!
haven't got it yet, erda; but will look
Thanks, Nef
Got a go6,24 but no lick finding the 33
go6/33 - rhymes with like a male child
i have the go 6/30 and 6/24
Got it! it's a term for someone who's sort of not Jewish?
Great clue. Thanks
That gives me the first 3 letters -- then???
Figured it out!!!
"sort of like" is the clue
Thank you, Nef
LOL! Just read back and I didn't use those words! Poor erda!
back for a couple while dinner is cooking -- leftover choucroute grani!
what is that, ruby?
garni* sauerkraut cooked with beer, caraway seeds and pepper corns plus a large variety of pork meats and sausages, served with hot english mustard and boiled potatoes
Strasbourg specialty but I make it as a winter dish
it is very yummy!
and pretty easy, as the ingredients are all available locally (except the caraway seeds which I had to buy in Switzerland)
I used to make it with white wine, but beer is better
although I always found the name a bit odd - it seems to imply that it is sauerkraut with accompaniments, whereas I found it to be typically sausages and pork with some sauerkraut mixed in.
I cook the potatoes and sausages separately, just put the various pieces of pork and lardons (impossible to translate, sort of a bacon but less tasty) in with the cabbage
hmmm. Sounds good. Here I was thinking it was some sort of chocolate granola stuff (just from the name --which I didn't understand).. Wonder if the beer brauts and sauerkraut in Wisconsin is from that?
my family makes it with onions , white wine and apples(Sauerkraut).
lardons are fattier than bacon, usually, aren't they, ruby?
for sure, it is really a German dish but, for a change, I think the French have actually improved it
unfortunately, not the lardons here which are too meaty for my taste
where are they from, aeb? I'm sure that every region has its own way of preparing
Sourkraut...isn't that an unhappy german?
My mother used to put a whole pork loin into saurerkraut without the beer or wine and it was fabulous!
hahah
My Family comes from Alsace on one side and Ireland and Scotland on the other side.
I've heard that kind of sauerkraut referred to as Bavarian sauerkraut, aeb
but the meat in the US is so much better
ahah, so that schoucroute is probably more authentic than mine
mine is just tasty
no.. Bavarian has carroways in it.
I used caraways and no apples
kummel, in Switzerland
it's a lovely dish and good enough for company
when i come for dinner, i'll bring my own apple ruby.
the apples from my garden are all given away, sorry aeb!
they were lovely this year
i' ll bring my own USA apple , ruby
and we do nothing to the tree, no feeding, insecticides, pruning -- nothing
sold, aeb!
Ruby, have you ever made choucroute salade?
this is my first garden, so it's largely experimental (and accident-prone)
no, what goes into it, AEB?
Sauerkraut salad, this is
as long as YOU don't have the accidents
sue: if you're still here, my first love was my physics teacher in HS but I still only got 75 on my Regents' exam!
do you eat it cold?
nef: yesterday I slammed my hand into a closing door, talk about stupid accidents!
Sauerkraut, red and green peppers, onions spices and vinegar and oil(sauerkraut is rised three times before using it) and it it severed cold on hot summer days. YUM YUM
btw, I think go6 is a hoot!
that sounds wonderful: I'm writing it down
I'm not sure if your can get sauerkraut in summer here
and it is yummy...not like the french saying....Salade, salade, je suis malade.
my typing is terrible, sorry
do you speak French, aeb, or maybe gaelic?
ruby ... you can used canned sauerkraut if your in a fix....just remember to rinse it alot.
Oui...je parle francais and i compose Irish music.
I'll have to look for it, don't know if they have it here (we're in the sticks!)
<== loves Irish music, once taught step dancing to a friend's gym class
frnch cities don't have any sticks at leat not the four times i've been there.
using the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band
no city here, in a tiny village outside of a big town :(
ruby.. and you think your typing is bad!
ou est la?
looked up your profile, aeb, and your roomies sound scary to me!
Howdy Ladies and Gents 8)
outside of Annecy, in Veyrier du Lac
ne of my first sogs i learned as a wee lass was "Petit Papa Noel".
hello gramma, are you still in a grumble-mood?
Yes I am. ty for asking.
I don't want to monopolize the chog, aeb, but send me an e-mail while I'm serving my choucroute, and I'll be back later!
I don't want to monopolize the chog, aeb, but send me an e-mail while I'm serving my choucroute, and I'll be back later!

I know how it goes, but not how to spell
ty molls
Bollywood, fun
Yep!!!!
molly has it right (within transliteration error)
It was a 3D sci-fi film
got to love all the blatant sex with zero touching
wow that sounds interesting
what fun is blatant sex without touching?
And I loved it!!!!!!
bollywood grows up!
ask the Indian censors
it is fun to watch anyway
lots of fun1
I'm sure it is, jmc, just struck me as being funny

YAY! India
wtg india!
hi all
hego, you are in the grid today!
Hi Peri, yes I am.
time to cook the chicken. Bye All!!
?? Transliteration error?? I'm not even sure I can pronounce that. : )
well, what I meant is that the original is in Hebrew, and there is more than one way to write that phonetically in English
Oh yeah, been there done that with French. It seems there is more than one way to translate just about everything.
Hi all, need clue pls for the go6/33
Like a non-Jew, Mary
Sounds like "a young male has ****** charm"
French is bad but Hebrew (and Arabic) are worse, as it is a totally different alphabet and not all the letters have English equivalents
I remember back in the 1980s when we were bombing Libya, and some students complained about the different spellings of Gaddafi's name - "doesn't he know how to spell his name?" they sneered - of course, he does, but he spells it in Arabic!
anyway time for University council meeting, sigh, be back later!
ty Molly but still cannot figure the go6 any other clue?
there is a 3-letter word starting with go that is Yiddish for a non-Jew, then add a 3-letter ending that means "sort of" or "like"
OMG ty Molly just got it
and uusue ty
great word, great clue sue
hI ALL
Why isn't yoyo a word? Is it yo yo?
no, I believe it is two words
Shalom Michnick
yo-yo?
Yo-yo is hyphenated (not acceptable) and a brand name (not acceptable)
Ah, Hi Bichon, UU, Mary et al
did you get the go 6/33?
Hee hee, I did, but the plural doesn't work. (The 3 letter word + em at the end)
the four letter plural works, english-ized not Yiddish ending.
I thought it ended in im
oh, maybe you're right.
like yodh mem
that's it, you are right.
I am over halfway with NBT, I may go to bed soon.
I send my DH to the pharmacy so I guess I have to wait up for him, but then - to bed!
Hubby's back, bye all!!
77 left? Woe is me.
hi again. I've packed up 2 boxes of Aunty's clothes and did a bunch of phone business; DH was off with a group of men for lunch and got back at 3 -ish; I'm taking a Babble break now! :-)
oh; I also gave DH a couple of chores to do too! That feels good: he's working; I'm playing! :-)
hi again, all!
Works done. 1 word left NA5, anybody? please.
hi, gramma! let me see if I can find it.
m Got it
what are the stats?
na5 is Na*** like the song Na888 Boy
NEF!!!! WAY TO GO!!!
I got it thanks anyway
I better start dinner. BBL
??? I didn't finish yet, Molly; and I can't type right now either.
ah, me too thanks nef!
bye, gramma!
WTG, gramma!!! YAY for you!!!
Nef, I'm talking about giving your husband some chores to do so you can play.
That'
is much better than finishing the grid.
Oh; yeah; that was fun! :-)
<--- is all in favor of giving chores to husbands
hey all! ((((Hugs and choclits))))
it's so much more fun when they actually DO the chores though (especially if you are goofing off at the same time!)
hi stid!
hi, stid!
I got an automated call today from a company that they were going to schedule an appt. to come out a service something *AND THE APPT> was already set up for tomorrow but the auto call wouldn't schedule it til Friday! I spent about 10 minutes trying to get it straightend out; and the appt for tomorrow is cancelled now--wether I wanted it to be or not
sorry for the typos; my BP is still up because of that call
roomey
**Offers tea to Nef and puts soothing music on**
no E, I think Nef...
sorry, not a word. I need to get away from the keyboard til I settle down a bit
I hear you, nef!
was just on the phone with my insurance company, they approved my thyroid biopsy but the valid dates are from 11/26/11 to 11/26/11 (which is NOT when it is scheduled and which is a Saturday anyway)
however this is apparently an artifact of how they do business, and it is actually approved. Weird notice, though.
Okay; I think I'm calmed down. That call occurred at 4:30; so I was still upset by it. The company had made the appt. for tomorrow yesterday (when I 1st called them); I'd cleared the times etc.so that's why I was upset.
(((((nef)))))
and sue; that is really weird!
I hate insurance companies.
Sometimes I wonder how I'd get things like this done if I was working
fortunately I have a flexible schedule!
although now I am working on getting tomorrow's lecture done...
I hate dealing with automated systems!
...which I should probably get back to. Active galactic nuclei, quasars, and the intergalactic medium, here I come!
bye sue! good luck!
oh, automated systems really suck, nef. I especially hate these new ones that insist you talk to them instead of pushing buttons. They never know what I am saying.
have fun, sue!
Nef, I hope the rest of your evening goes well. Lucky is begging to go out again, so I will refill my tea and then start getting ready for tomorrow's sub job.
Have a wonderful evening, all! *poof*
(I'm on another automated call right now; but at least this one will connect me with a person after I finish holding!
Hello...
hi (on phone)
*whispers* Hi, Nef...
off phone now! YUK! I'm tired of phones today!
hi (in library)
hi Dorens! Are you okay? (I take it your power isn't back yet?)
Hi, Dorens
no idea when it will be either
i'm okay, but not sure how much longer i can do this pioneer gal stuff! stayed at a friend's last night, but missed my cats.
(((Dorens))) Are you staying in your house? Is it warm enough?
(and she doesn't know her wireless password, she went down to visit a friend, so I can't use HER computer... so babble is out). and no nef, not nearly warm enough
did you lose trees? Is the whole area out of power? (I'm so glad you are okay otherwise
there is some way to figure out from her computer what the pass word is--ask one of the geeks when they come on
hi all
Hi, jmc
hi jmc
my boy did it when i lost my wireless password
good question jmc. but she took her computer with her... would be good to know for next time. I used hers when I was out of power for 6 days after irene
yes i lost 4 trees.. one is leaning on my house and i suppose we better do something about that. two were blocking my driveway and one blocked the road in front of my house. should put that pic as my icon
oh, dear! It sounds like you should move here to MN where the weather is better! ;-)
brb i am messing with my internet connection out in the hinterlands
haha nef. my sister lived in st cloud years ago and i did visit during the winter. once!
well, it isn't winter here yet! :-)
but it's coming....
I'm just feeling bad for you; the longest power outage I've ever had to deal with was overnight and that was in the summer; so I can't imagine what it's like for you
well i have been conditioned... six days after irene, so if it is five this time i'll feel better. Unfortunately am losing some of my frozen food, etc
Dorems, do you have power yet? We just got it last evening
no dry ice?
no bichon. doesn't look like i'll have it tomorrow either
I have a friend who lives 2 miles away and her suburb has a lot of power outages. She's never lost food because she uses dry ice
dorens, good to see you -- sooo sorry for what you've been dealing with -- jeezomeez!!
well, it could be worse! i do have water... and HOT water too.. only problem is that when i get in the shower i never ever want to get out
we camped out in the kitchen with the fireplace going
is there such a thing as a sterno heater?
i slept at a friend's last nite. might again tonight. not sure yet.
Dorens! I hope you get power back soon!! (and that the tree gets off your house!)
I called my dad and he is doing fine, only lost power for about 1/2 hour, but I see that it is warm enough now that your frozen stuff is thawing. Bummer.
thanks. doesn't seem to have damaged the roof, and so it is low priority... so many others in streets, on roofs, etc
anyone want some nice sockeye wildsalmon from my freezer come and get it!!
hmmm how far away are you again?
we were out for three days and none of the food went bad and we still had hot water
half way between the GW bridge and the Delaware Water Gap
just don't open the freezer dorens and if it is relatively packed it should stay for 3 or 4 days
by yesterday it still had ice crystals in it bichon. not now. I've brought some of the food to my friend's. It's been four days already jm. saturday 2 pm
bbs i must reboot
Dorens; you can get some dry ice and keep the freezer door closed and it should keep it for 2-3 days
oh dear then all you can do is eat salmon
O in the fifth column, please?
honestly nef. that sounds like a good idea but on top of all that i'm also working 9 hours a day with no lunch break. not going shopping for nothing (except a generator if i could find one)
greek letter om5/16 jellen
last letter of Greek alphabet, Jellen (in yesterdays grid too)
Thanks!
(((Dorens)))
and pl, Jellen
I swear that the grid box is eating my words that I enter! Or, maybe I can't spell tonight?
well, I just typed in an utterly random string of characters that turned out to be a word! (aw4/10)
it's been here before sue
I'm sure it has, doren, but it sure looks strange!
right now everything looks strange to me
put a g in front and it's what my cousins called their grandmother :-)
wow . . .l that seems to have killed the chog
sorry, still writing lectures, une!
:-D
nahh. just trying to finish up so i can leave the library and bring my thawed out salmon to my friends house to cook. getting late to call it dinner by the time i get there
poor dorens . . . think you'll have power in a couple of days??
started the grid yesterday and got to the point where i was less than 30 away and couldn't finish from my friend's house so blew my ranking. oh well
love your icon Une
thanks, peri -- it's an oldie I resurrected :-)
Hi, peri
Geez, Dorens glad you have someplace to stay
hey Jellen, hi all
he7 pls
hey, jellen :-)
yup, but it isn't home and it doesn't feel right. beggars cant be choosers
peri: bird + **e bread
He7 is a place where the he5 birds live.
have you always had problems with power outages in storms
hey, molly :-)
ty Une and Molly
yw :-)
not like this peri, not until irene~! Actually once before, i think it was floyd
two times so close, I would go nuts
<---Is glad that she never looks at rankings since she rarely has time to finish grids. : D
going nuts doesn't really serve me well
it would not serve me well either
why is the second go4/8 a word but not goyem?
I was claiming it would be goyim (which Enable would apparently accept)
believe there was a whole goy discussion earlier . . .
i'm sure there was. shiksas and goys... great topics
indeed there was, une :-)
:-D
uh oh,. send me to the pb. i'm hungry enough
na5 pls
<---Irish Shiksa : )
Janet Jackson song...Oh you na5 boys
perfect clue, molly! :-)
most irish are, molly
ty Molly
he 6/27 please
Whew. Anymore, I'm wondering if someone will say "Who is Janet Jackson?"
more than one king
he6/27 is plural of the above name, odd looking word
that's silly
it's been in the grid before . . . and yes, really weird!
monkeys found that one for me, it is silly
mo 7/40?
Lunar object + what you see with
wow, molly's on a roll!!!!!!!
clue for the go6.33?
Molly is a fast typer
ty . silly again
Silly? It's a great word. "Hello boss, I stared at the mo4 too long last night. I can't come into work today. I have mo7". : P
haha Dorens
clue for the go6.33 plz?
uh, haha Molly, gotta use that one some day
go6/33...like a non Jew
like the non-jew lbd
yiddish puts another syllable at the end, actually
s
hey, inge :-)
to 6/7 combo please?
pull a boat + how old your are
and plural
*you
makes sense, thanks. am asking rather than morewords, etc. just want to get out of here!

(and yes, i tried eyemoon earlier!!)
*gasp* *coming up for air*
well that didn't work :-(
I have a problem with SA 6 The dictionary word which fits will not work in this puzzle. Was ist los?\
tears?
drops?
wa4/9 my dear
i know inge it is enough to make you lose your sa6 or go crazy
hmm, non-jew isn't working for me, another clue please?
oooh ty i was just too bummed my new wireless isn't working
sort of like a non-jew lbd
:-D
ty, dorens and jmc.
that sort of ending is making stupid words, IMHO
i agree, peri
agreed, peri
hi peri and indeedaleedoo!
hey jmc
What is teh last letter in SA 6''
Y inge
Y
Clearly, I am not communicating well today. It seems there is a difference between "like a non-Jew" and "sort of like a non-Jew".
your periwinkle balloon makes me so happy
I am glad, jmc, it makes me happy too
alas there is molls
I finally got off my bro in laws cell phone plan and got a new phone, just a basic one but new nonetheless
so i am thinking about concrete counter tops any one have any experience?
are you happy about that peri?
yes I am, jmc, do not have to worry about any extra charges, the bill will come to me
no - but they look very nice. What about the lovely soap stone you have in the States (or is it Canada) that looks brilliant
will use it as my main phone, kept same number
there is a deal to be said for having the bill to come directly if you are paying it
I waws not paying hhim anything. he had a family plan
rather be responsible for my own calls
hi, lynxxx!
it will cost me more but worth it
it is certainly in canada lynxxx but it is in the US in lesser amounts. but i think concrete is cheaper and more durable
hi Une and all
i understand peri -- i keep wa**ing for the boy to decide that. . .but i won't say anything until he gets a job i think
hi again. jmc, I love the look of concrete countertops but haven't had any experience with it and don't know anyone who has them
i was just wondering if it was hard on dishes. . . am i going to be gritting my teeth all the time
LOL!
sure you can laugh it won't be your glasses shattering
;-
Thanks . now I have firewris
whoo hoo inge!!
I don't think it would be any harder than a stone countertop. I have heard that you need someone who has experience do them or they could look bad
I got one of the granite look-a-like composites about 15 years ago - Have been very happy with it. Great color choice. More $ than wood but cheaper than natural stone.
me too! whooo hoooo Inge!
yay, inge!!!!!!!!!!
Congrats Inge!
YAY, inge!!! WTG!!!
did you get FW, lbd? or a countertop???
whoo hoo lbd!
fireworks...lol i'd love a new countertop tho
Congrats Dawg!
YAY, lbd!!! WTG!!!!
i was looking at a portion for a breakfast bar in marble and the rest in concrete
sounds very cool, jmc
i could get a grey green counter top out of concrete and a dark marble with green streaks for the breakfast bar above
my mom had coreane...or something like that put in. it's been here for over 20 years and still looks like new.
Got a girlfriend who has just done a large duplex with granite and marble everywhere. Really regreting marble in the kitchen as stains and marks badly
hey this is the last time i will be remodeling my kitchen so i want it to look good and to hold up
that sounds really pretty, jmc!
hmmm good to know lynxxx is that true for a dark marble?
bbl, gotta go burn something for dinner.
evening all
i was also looking at a green and grey composite with shiny flecks
bye lbd have a nice dinner
hi gal n
er glan
We wouldn't do well with marble or granite; I'd like some of the synthetic stone though
stats for the bottom o please
evening, glan :-)
maybe i could do the breakfast bar with that composite then
she has white/grey with very large black veining in it....not that you can see it anymore a it is constantly covered with cloths to stop the staining and marking
oa4/4
jmc - i have a black granite hearth and it is terrible for showing dust and marks - they do clean up easily but if I want it to look good I have to wipe with a microcloth more than once a day - never again. I suspect dark marble would be as high maintennce
the dark green granite looking composite is exactly what I have
Glant, I hear you on the black granite hearth. I have the same thing and it is a pain in the ass to keep clean.
and how has the composite worked for you lynxxx
ty nef
stats for the last column O please
It has been fantastic - still gleaming after 15 years - just wipe with Windex (not sure if you have that spray in the States). No stains. Just a little dull and a few v. small chips where my husband insists on cutting without any board. Doesn't scorch. Softer than stone so no smashed glasses etc.
om 5/16 (in grid yesterday)
Yes, we have Windex in the States.
BBS
yes we have windex and since i will be using this above the sink for a breakfast bar that sounds ideal
bye lynxxx
hardly did the grid yesterday but ty nef
Om5...means the end in Greek?
last letter of the Greek alphabet
Snap Nef. : )
oh haha that!
ty both
nbt
wtg, jmc! Keep going!
i have some things to do but i would like to get nbs before i take a break from babble
stats for the 8?
wa 7/8 should help then
wa 5/22, wa7/52, wa 8/70
(series)
okay *looking*
nbs!
ty ty
okay i must do a little of this and that and will be back later
YAY, jmc! WTG! But keep going to finish!
can anyone clue the go 6/33?
Sort of like a non-Jew
can't muster it ..
Three letter word for non-Jew + put your meal on the dinner d***
rhymes with what you'd call a male child's haircut on a girl
boy, that word has been giving everyone fits today!!
thanks molly
wow.. I was waaaaaaaaaay off... thank you
It's one of the dumber ones I've ever seen in these grids. But that isn't saying much.
huh, doesn't work as a ga word, though
However, re 5/18 and re 6/30 are just ridiculous.
that gives me a lot to look forward to molly..lol
are those about cutting wood again, molly?
Good evening Babbleonia. How fare friends tonight?
hi, wht!
you're not in the part of MA that got buried in snow, are you?
We only got 5 inches or so. We lost power for a few hours but it was at night.
ah, good. Mount Holyoke (where I went to college) was without power for a good two days.
But Lexington, the next town over, had no school for two days because there were so many people without light and the High School was being used as a shelter.
My boss is still without power and they are saying tomorrow or Friday before it comes back.
dorens is in the same boat. What a mess!
the mo7 is a little weird too
Fireworks.
yay, wht!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
YAY, wht!!! WTG!!!
lots of unchatty people here tonight
well, I am just happy I got half way!
will go watch TV and grade papers in a few minutes
PBS has a special on Nova tonight; coming on in 5 minutes here....
"The Fabric of the Cosmos" with Bryan Greene
oh, right, I forgot about that! coming on at 9 here.
I definitely want to watch that!!
I'm going to be watching it too
he 7 pls
bird + mer** Christmas, big red
thanks Nef
3 1/2 columns blackened
Yay Nef!
Hi all, any clues needed ?
ok, I am off to grade and watch TV (although maybe not in that order). See you all later!
who killed colonel mustard?
hi beth; I'm watching a show on TV
lady peacock in the library with a candlestick
i am watching a miniseries on netflix from england
dorens, how are you doing with power?
Miss Scarlett, with the rope, in the Conservatory
I'm pretty sure it was a candlestick
I am also wildly swatting at seedmoths, trying to get the population to a manageable level
I'm sure it was. I haven't been right about anything else today.
you must have teenagers : /
what's a seedmoth?
if you have a bird, and you buy fresh seed/fruit mix, sometimes when you open the bag a moth will fly out. if you dont get that first one and it is female ready to lay eggs, you then become home to moths up the wazoo :(
YUK! Glad I don't have birds, then!
we have pheremone traps, and i empty the pantry and clorox everything, but it is a neverending battle
How big are they?
I hate fruit flies myself
i bought the seed from a new source... i would like to trap some and send them back to her
st
they are bigger than fruitflies, but smaller than the common moths you see outside near your porch light
HAH ! I got the little bugger
YAY!
I am always scanning for them, anyone looking in my window would think I am nuts looking at the ceiling ....
Time flies like an arrow, fruit flies like a banana.
na 5 pls
like the song "Na*** Boy"
Red, not nice
thanks Wht & Nef
As the crow flies, no flies on me
Okay someone please explain how the second set of gy 5, 6 can count. I can't see those letters in those positions!
NM; NOW I see it (wrong Y)
Two y's Neff
3, wht
Yes, but the one that is 0/0 doesn't count. : P
But only two by the g.
It took me a while to see that as well.
you guys are right. :-)
Me, I kept trying gyno. : D
hi all
hi jes
Hi Jes
hi jess
Good evening to my fellow babblers! How is everyone?
By the way, congratulations to all the finishers! YAY!
Hi Min
hi min
hi
hi harp
hi Min and harp. I've been watching a program on PBS; the 1st of a 4 series program on "the Fabric of the Cosmos" and wasn't concentrating on the grid
was it good nef?
hi everyone
hi ibd
excellent! But I have lots of questions now (and will be watching the next episodes!)
hi beth, hi nef
so, is this the beginning of the cosmos or what it is made of?
hi lbd. How's things going for you these days?
things are kinda hectic right now. I'm in Denver trying to get stuff in my jeep to take back to Montana
it talked about how empty space can be bent and twisted,
How full is the jeep, lbd? Have yor sisters decided to help?
<picturing lbd with her jeep as full as the pictures from the Deression....>
just call him tom joad...
for those that wish it i can offermy babble buddies a e-oub readercoy of "full dark,no stars" by Mr king
my letter afterois gone as well as my sace bar:(
hi crossy!
time for a kb tomorrow
howdy beth
evening all
howdy feni
my parrot had eaten my b and t keys, friends thought i had started drinking when we chatted
hi pini
lol Nef. yup if you only knew my Hubz and his packing abilities
my letter after o is gone on this kb
hi crossy, hi PINI!!
howdy lbd
* smile *
...and how is everyone? :)
what happened to it crossy? damage or old age?
damageby offsring
a keyboard lasts me max 6 moinths
damn teenagers...
indeed
Mine last quite awhile...the letters just wear off...so, 'type by touch' is a must ;)
PINI!!! Where have you been?
uh ... here?
fairly unhappy pini, a young man rand into the back of my new car while it was stopped in traffic- not much cosmetic damage, but it seems to have wrecked the transmission
at work or home
It's been one heck of a last several months...
so sorry to hear bethn!!!
I hear you (((Pini)))
we go thru several a year here the bird is fascinated with the keyboard and will fly to it and remove keys laughing hysterically as he throws them on the floor
yes, he would like us to tell the insurance people his mother was driving - we respectfully declined
I would have declined, too, bethn!
I just haven't seen you for so long, Pini; and when I was looking for someone in the rankings last night it looked like you had resigned or something
oh, not resigned, nef...just been "off" for awhile...miss everyone. Just when I think I'm 'coming back', it all breaks loose again...know what I mean?
btw...has anyone said that it's impossible to have 210 words in this grid...I have 10 words so far!
I have 26 words left to find.
nice, nef!
give it a while pini, the words come out after a while
yay nef! I've dug 92 out of the mess so far.
uh huh...sure they do!
Sometimes I think that they come out after I have gone to bed.
Pini, if you check the rankings, you are in the middle column with something like 2,224, 778 or something but you aren't pink anymore; your name is black (like a non-member)
ACK!! I'll peek, nef!
well yes they are all hiding behind the m and w, ( they are the fattest letters)
That is why people like Gremlinn can finish the grid so fast at the flip. The words are nocturnal.
LOL, wht; I think you have a very plausible theory there!
can i help anyone before i go?
you're right, nef...I'm not pink anymore (not sure what makes one pink); but it's nice to know I've not totally tanked the "who's hot" list...there's a very short list below me on that one! *sigh of relief*
stats on the o in the right column?
I'd say, "Yes, bethn," but I'm afraid you'd be here all night...
Hey all :) Can I get a clue for the go 6/33? It's my last g.
om 5/16 + pl
om5/6
om5,16 om6,27
boa, it's a "sort of like" non Jew
ah, thankee, thankee. nbt
christian like boa
rhymes with what you'd call a male child's haircut (or whatever) on a girl)
could I please have a clue for the go 6/33?
that's what they're cluing, luv
oh, if I can't finish this grid (which is highly unlikely), I still have some good news (in my eyes anyway)...
that's what I just clued 2 different ways Luv
thanks, got the go and the to6 from that :)
yiddish for non jew + suffix meaning like luv
whats the news pini
I broke 60K in my family tree! :)
?????? huh?
60 k members??
how far back?
60K names in my family tree database :)
thanks all! Fireworks for me
wtg luv! :)
woot Luv!
YAY, LUV!!!! WTG!!!
How are you going to send that many Christmas cards, Pini. :^)
wtg luv
Are there any yi words? (hi)
wow pini, is this thru ancestry.com?
no harp
no yi words, harp
nope, harp
whooo hooo luv
I do have a copy of it there, bethn...but have also been working on it for the past *cough* 30 years :)
half way :)
That is pretty impressive Pini.
* grin * thanks! :)
git'r dun, jes :)
impressive pini :) my daughter has done a fairly lengthy one on both sides of our family
yay jes!
So have you started figuring out how you are related to all the Babblers?
what about ya words?
what about ya words?
* giggle * right, wht...not yet, but jillibus and I share a common family name from the same general area in Scotland...so we call each other cuz here in babble! :)
any surprises/scandals in your tree?
3 ya words
3 ya's
Thanks all for the clue. I figured it the go 6/33 was close to the go 4/8 (which I have) but I'm not getting it. I don't get the haircut clue. I do get the non-Jew clue.
no scandals..but 2 names of note: Lawrence Welk and Red Pollard (both married in-law types)
what about ya words?
thats neat, pini. how far back do you date them to?
Evening all.
3 ya words harp
3 ya words, harp
I have 1 ya4 ;)
ya 4/10 what you do with your mouth when you are tired, and its contagious.
Pini, I'm very impressed, That sounds like one heck of a family treee!
thanks, nef...it's been fun going on a "treasure hunt" all these years :)
ya 5, 6 I connect with beer names
The other ya is the person who first broke the sound barrier, and pl.
How many are alive right now, Pini?
that beer clue did it for me; have all 3 ya's :)
that's a good question, nef...that would be a number that is the moving target
we found that my grandfather, my mom's dad, who was thought to have abandoned the family and died actually just moved across the river to his "real" wife and had his 3rd child with her within months that his 4th child with my grama was born...we made contact with the other family they say he was a miserable man. PLUS we are italian, not french as we had been led to believe
true, Pini. It's a moving number for all of us, isn't it? Personal question: are you from a large Irish Catholic family? (I am; I had 54 first cousins on my Mom's side growing up
wow, bethn...that's gotta be pretty interesting...to know that you've got more kin than you thought!
nbt/nbs
<-- 1/2 German (from Russia), 1/4 Italian, 1/8 French, 1/8 Scot and a recovering Catholic... How's that!?! :)
i have 30 first cousins on my mom's side.
we always thought they were out there, but the name was odd, and spelled differendly in my family than in the other one so it was very hard to trace
Any other clues for the go 6/33 por favor?
go + sometimes a vowel + plenty of f*** int he sea
go3 rhymes with male child + suffix that means like
clue for the ey7 please
Well, past my bedtime folks. So happy babbling.
Ah, got it!
a friend I know was always told by her Dad that they were Italian and that his parents had died young. It turned out that he was biracial and his mother was white and a single mother (who worked as a prostitute) and died just a year or 2 before my friend found this out
Thanks guys :)

I still have 15 to go....so tired. Thanks for all the help.

I have 5 left; but am very distractable tonight
I am wa??ing on a phone call
Exciting/important call, heron?
Yes., It is a friends birthday and I offered to cook her dinner but she is not answering her phone
ergh! Don't you hate it when you have your day planned around someone elses' day and they don't call?
well nothing is planned but if she doesn't call she gets no cake
I have a short fuse today on messed up schedules
I don't have anything planed but if she doesn't ring soon there will be a sorry no because I will be starting the meat at 330pm and then it will be too late for cake as I will not be farting about
I guess I am also a tad over doing things for others and getting screwed in the process
that's what happens a lot
Fireworks
Ok so we have no car. If you lived around the corner (quite litterally around the corner) and were going to the store wouldn't you offer to pick up something for me at the store if you were going to drop stuff off at my house?
Yah and FW
some people are extremely self-centered and need to be asked before they see someone else has any needs?
Yep. Honestly somethimes I wonder why I bother with some people
if you know that this person is like that; it's important to let them know you need rides right now
Or just remember it and keep it in the not helping you unless it is dire
yep; that too
Take the Mentality of ''I am busy you are stupid'' works.
I can't stay awake any longer; my be is calling me; so Good Night Everybody! Happy Babbling!
