Flying shoes? In here, viajes?
Hi flosey.
Did they have wings on them?
Yup. And Mexican hats.
I can see how those could fly... like flying saucers.
Or frisbees even.
they only flew briefly. because of the lack of wings, I suppose.
i am not morally up this earlier but I wanted to have a soak in the tub this morning before work rather than a shower so I thought I triy and make some inroads into the grid before I go to work etc

ye gods, west! Megagroan!
ditto jill
And I see that's your icon too
Copying it to punster son & bro-in-law
glad you like it jilli lol
the icon is from It's a Small World
on Friday our granddaughter will be 9 so among other things I got her 2 puzzles..one of the US and one of the world
the pieces are magnetic and can be done on the sheet that comes with or on the refrigerator
the funny thing is the disclaimer on the world map..due to the changing names
said they can't guarantee they'll always be correct
I'm talking too much..Frank Sinatra is on PBS..I'll shut up now and enjoy
I wish that was on here, west!
he really was talented
I actually saw him at the Paramount in NYC when I was a bobby-soxer. Swoon!
I've always loved his voice
I liked him best when he was young and dreamy
But he didn't just sing beautifully, he acted the songs
I'm watching Michael Feinstein's American Songbook..this episode is Sa6/18 Singers
didn't he though?
jilli..been so long..have you seen the latest Cumberbatch?
Oh yes -- and was baffled by the finale!
me too..he has to come back
this fall there will be a new series called Elementary with Luci Liu as Watson !! I'm not watching it.
Ugh!
I'm not watching much on TV these days, other than news and MSNBC and Jeopardy -- and Coronation Street again, I hope, now that %$*& hockey is over.
And Doc Martin and such
we just love Martin Clunes
we watch Doc Martin, William and Mary and Reggie Perrin..all old episodes but so good
We get other Brit things on our Knowledge network -- like a BC PBS
oh and guess what? I have been wanting to tell you my friend from Surrey sent me a Spode commemorative plate of Queen Elizabeth's Jubilee.
Such as Heartbeat, Inspector Lewis.
love Inspector Lewis..loved Inspector Morse too
Oh, lovely! I stupidly sold my such things for a pittance when I moved out here, including a George V Silver Jubilee mug, and an Elizabeth II Coronation cup and saucer.
I have to go to bed -- droopy.
oh too bad..that's what happens when we move
it was lovely visiting with you..I will be heading out shortly too
sleep well and no phone calls
I hope -- but gardener plans to come in the early morning, sigh. Goodnight!
over halfway, btw...*poof
good job jilli !!
wow, dozed off, better get to bed
I wondered where you were flosey..sleep well
have always been a night owl - love the silence at this hour
it is nice
big doings for William's birthday?..is he going to be 3 ?
they're all coming over for the weekend - it is also my 80th (day before William's 3rd) we gals are going to have a girlie day in Victoria - pedicures, and afternoon tea, the boys are making supper
that sounds like so much fun !!
sons are talking about coming but not sure when - and if yes
we so seldom get this kind of time together, I'm really looking forward to it
that would make it perfect
we have never had all 4 kids under this roof at one time, had 3 a couple of times
two of our girls now live on the west coast need to get out there to visit
if all came at once, we'd have to use a B&B for sleeping - only have two guest rooms here
where are they west?
one in San Diego the other in Seattle
ah, so SD would have to come to Seattle wouldn't that be lovely - and if you get to Seattle, it isn't far from SSI
I know. And you can bet I'd be out to see you and jilli
that would be wonderful
it seems like such a peaceful place
I'd love to meet you
it is west
and I'd love to meet you too
as soon as husband retires we'll be going places
sooper, how soon does he retire?
he has a brother in Colorado and a sister in Michigan so we'll make our way cross country
there's talk of Canada raising retirement age - isn't that the pits
he'll probably work another few years
I'm not sure he'll know what to do..but gentleman farmer comes to mind
one thing I think you'd really love, in Victoria, is the Butchard Gardens - absolutely gorgeous, whatever time of year.
our three girls were there when they took their grandfather on an Alaskan cruise
we are seriously thinking of spending half the year out west..since two are still here
that's what hubby did, but is cutting back this year, really feeling the work
he was an engineer too wasn't he?
no, taught physics
Jon would have loved that..he's a physics nut
bet they'd get along famously
ah,interesting. daughter as married to an emgineer, other one is dating one
they're a good group..the unseen wind that blows the sails
West, am really going to have to get to bed, very tired, - just killed a mosquito that's been bugging me
okay flosey..at least it won't bite you now
lovely talking to you.
lol, goodnight and sweet dreams
you too
good night all I'm gone as well
sj

all battened down. got out early to get all the errands done?
so snugged in, just waiting. sure hope it passes right over you
lost some of my post - why the long day?
started work at 8:30am, means i leave home at 7:45am, means i have to take my pain meds by 5am....so a long day. now almost 7pm here
Wow - it takes a long time for those meds to kick it.
sure does, dianne, at work i have to be able to hit the floor running
sorry, dianne, dinner ready, already, bbl
and "hitting the floor running" is just what you don't need right now. What time do you get home from wor?
hello Babble friends :)
Hi sprite. How you doing?
tonight was a bit later than usual, about 6pm, that's 3am babble time
quick hello tp sprite before dinner.
I have two dear friends over who are cleaning for me... something I cannot do for myself anymore. It is wonderful!
hiya rose *hugs* Sorry you are having a tough day.
Nice friends - lucky you.
yes they are a blessing. I never got any help from family. Never happened to me before! I am really grateful for having them as friends.
how are you, Dianne?
I'm good. just me and the cat until the end of next week so things are quiet.
quiet can be very nice. Do you enjoy it?
Actually I do. I do the things I need to do and then I have the time to do some things I want to do.
sounds lovely :)

ohhhh my most favorite babble word ever is in this grid.
so6/18
I like that one too - and always remember it.
:D It is really special. I learned it in Babble and will never forget either.
i've never "used" it anywhere but here.
once, in Scrabble. But otherwise no. It's scots, isn't it?
I don't know it's origin.
just checked, and it is scots AND irish!
I have la x 10 and lo x 14. Missing one more L word.
another LO
thanks - will look....
stupid me - I have the plural of an lo4 - but didn't enter the lo4.
oh that happens to me all the time. When I get near the end, I always check my word list for forgotten plurals and singulars and verb forms etc... and I always feel kinda silly for forgetting so many.
fireflies! Anything I may cluu for you?
or clue, even
Ok have fun, good luck and enjoy your day *hugs*
I'm missing an o from the middle o - I have the foreboding ones.

Not seeing Sue's PB violation. Must need more coffee. fe4 doesn't count.
Oh fe5 does, duh.
moving is tough annie - good and stressful at teh same time
Molly, It was part of the lab name...it was not PB worthy..name of a scientist
I'm too old to move but the change would be very hard on Bobby
that is quite a move, KJE. I hope you will enjoy it
a friend of our oldest, moved to SF. They pay $1200.00/mo. just for two rooms
"too old to move" no such thing!
SF is a beautiful place to live...I am sure you will be very happy living there.
but so many hills...
I hear it is beautiful there
hi Hurshy
kje, thanks for the encouragement..right now it is in the talking stage
hi all.
it is beautiful - and has the advantage of being a true city (walking friendly) as well as minutes from wonderful natuer... I am looking forward to the location, though not the cost of living
it is stressful to move but once you get settled it is very nice.
hi hurshy..did you have your second interview?
on the other hand, I will have to downsize and simplify - not necessarily a bad thing
no KJE, that is a very refreshing feeling.
yes, and i thought it went well... we'll find out today - if i am still in the running i will be contacted to go meet the other staff tomorrow, so if i hear nothing i guess i'm out.
best of luck, hursh!
I wish you the best, Hurshy and hope you get the call

did i tell you all the story of when we were first married(the ass thing reminded me of this) she was 20 and i was 27 or thereabouts and we had friends the same age also newly married.well both the ladies were walking dynamite, legs that went on forever and buns of steel and everything we take for granted at that age. well were were over at their house for a fondue and a few drinks and the talk got around between the ladies over whose tushie was firmer, well my friend and i had to jump in on this one so we proposed a little contest, each of the ladies put on a skin tight pair of spandex pants and out to the kitchen we went,my buddy grabbed 2 eggs from the fridge and gave me one and kept one for himself,we had the ladies hold onto the kitchen counter with both hands facing the window away from us and we each placed the egg in the butt crack of our wives tushies and they gripped the egg while still wearing these tight spandex pants.now the rules are simple the woman who can hold the egg the longest will be crowed buns of steel champion.my buddy and i left them there and went to the closet and quietly got a pair of ping pong paddles and back into the kitchen we went where the ladies were still holding onto the raw eggs with supreme concentration. my buddy and i positioned ourselves and using hand singnals i gave a 3 count ..1...2....3 and whammo! we gave each one a good spank on the butt and broke the eggs:)
sorry long tale
hahahah
or even long tail

Anyone have a clue for the Fe8?
Name that proper noun: One of Santa's reindeer.
f + hesitation sound + charged particle/s
Ty, Tor. Between your clue and my monkies, I found it.
Am I the only one who found the J's completely nonsensical?
No Judi, you are not.
And Donner
Poor Donner. Forever linked to the cannibals at the Pass.
Is that where donner kabob got it's name?

Got it Peri? Trifecta cluing.
should just stop embarrassing myself by asking for hints, and go ahead and list. Have 35 left, a good run listless.
need a break, bbs
the list is actually really helpful for this one
there! I've given in and listed now. thanks for hints, all - got good help from back chog. :)
gosh, now I'm embarrassing myself by seeing how many I should have seen already, hmph! ;p
yep
that is the trouble with listing! it is a humbling exercise
back to work - see ya later
KJE, Just read your question about drop box. I signed on for the minimum. A friend had pictures of a trip and he sent me the invite.

So how is everyone today?
... the sun is shining ... all is right with the world ...
it's cloudy here, but tha's okay too.
grumble - wish it was here, could do with a bit of warmth
I just picked a quart bowl of berries: strawberries, raspberries and mullberries
... you're in the middle of winter ... it's not supposed to be warm ... but you gotta have a foot of snow before you can complain ...
yum Nef...I have been making a light chocolate cake lately with berries in the top. Very nice.
dose,
whoops! tried to erase that and entered instead!
sorry Dos...never have snow so guess no grumbling from down here
... where I am we missed it this past winter too .. ... which means we'll get a double dose this year ... ... not looking forward to it ... ... so I'm keeping all the sunshine to myself today and saving it up ...
You read like you have had a 'busy' year Nef
my grandson was here this past weekend (as usual) and he would run out a pick 3-4 berries several times a day as they ripened. They are so much better tasting than store-bought berries!
ummm, that's one way of putting it lynxxx
brb
You are one amazing woman Nef, you manage so much
Nef busy? Never. She sits around in the recliner all day eating bon bons and watching soaps. : D
back. I see you're talking behind my back,? ;-) I haven't updated in nearly 2 weeks. Since then DH has had 4 more MRI's , another 8 hr ER visit, and I can't count the doctor appts.
See? Like I said. A life of leisure. : P
he had 3 hrs for MRI's on Monday eve (brain, cervical and thorasic MRI's a 2 hr neuro appt. yesterday and an hour with the neurosurgeon today. It seems he's having an M.S. flare-up on top of the pain; he needs to have surgery on his spine in the neck region in about a month
Anyone want to take over the cab service to doctor appts.? "See MPLS and St. Paul MN medical facilities...."
any chance of clues for is 9/60 and is 5/10?

interesting word, Molly.
lynxxx I'm hoping and praying so too. It just HAS to get better
"Interesting" is a nice word. I had a different one for it earlier.
:-)
It's good that you keep a positive attitude Nef. So many in your situation would not.
DH is depressed about all of this; I *get* that he's down about it; but I also know that being depressed doesn't help. So I aim for the stars...
(I really need a nap this after noon. Falling asleep in the chair again here)
With you on his side Nef, things will get better.
thanks, lynxxx. I hope so too.
...now go and have a nap
thanks. I think I willl.

good afternoon dear Babblers
Hi Bich
hi Bicon
finally stopped raining here. What a depressing day
hi lynxxx, Molly, jdd
JDD, I don't think I've seen you here before. Welcome to Babble. : )

o
Hi JDD, you're from one of my favorite places
ja6.36 = leafhopper - hmmpph!
the ja's in the grid are really obscure
<---Did not like the ja's, not one little bit
If it weren't for More Words....
Thanks Bichon - This is not a happy place at the moment but many have gone to Poland to cheer on the Irish team at the European Football Finals.
We loved Ireland and Dublin in particular.
Molly - have become addicted since my daughter told me of this game a few weeks ago. Down to my last 2 words on this grid. Clues are great from the chug participants.
Ireland is a fun place to visit. We hiked the Kerry Way
That's it. I am officially renaming this place. I LOVE chug. So much better than chog. Glad you are having fun with the puzzle, JDD.
The mountains and lakes of Kerry are beautiful when the weather is good but when the mist descends it's time for a nice pub!
howdy all:) back for a few more.howdy jdd44 i see you are a new player and bid you welcome to the club, though i must warn you babble may be addictive
hi Cross
howdy lynxx
that felt like a 300 word grid....bye all
can I impose once again. final word so 6/18 - any clues?
Put two vowels at the end of the word before it.
Very dumb word.
... two of them ... earlier ... or put two vowels on previous so4 to make it like a baby word
ty Molly. Fireworks. Off to bed.
Well done JDD : )
Hello everyone. Here's your shoe, Molly.
Why thank you Via.
Hellofa mess in here this morning. JMC was right. The flip people didn't even notice.
well, it got really quiet, just a bunch of well-behaved cluing -- I think everyone else must have passed out.
They did. And there were sticky Margarita stains all over, confetti hither, thither and yon and one drunk pervert hiding under the bar, reading 50 Shades Of Gray while panting and sweating. Rough clean up.
Wow. Good thing the PB has Mary Poppins cleaning-powers.
Again! What a time to enter. You guys are killing me.
Okay, I for one, really enjoying the frivolity last night!!
Has anybody read 50 shades?
*enjoyed
I never heard of it until these bad-influence people started talking last night...
brb...must restart due to a downloaded update....
It's not my style Gramma.
I don't know why but I don't want to read it.
I can't really say it's not my style because I've never even picked it up. But from what I've heard I don't want to.
sn5?!?!?! wtf? Sounds like a Dr. Suess word.
Yeah, there are a lot of those in this grid.
No sn's here yet but I'll look.
Gramma, unless you are into poorly written trash, I would skip the 50 Shades books.
Got it!
I just monkeyed it; it's just a crazy word that doesn't sound real and isn't in the dictionary.
ty Molly.
Via, there are sooo many Babble words you could say that about.
I know, but this one in particular sounds like one that was invented to rhyme with a real word or something
Most just seem like "not English" whereas this one seems distinctly "made up to make children laugh"
Or maybe I just like to think that every new crazy word is "special." And then I forget about it once the next particularly not-a-word word comes along.
I never took typing so when I enter words I always have to look at the keyboard. Disadvantage when you aren't in the correct spot and you go on a tear. Finding words at super-human speed, only to realize you haven't entered them and now you can't remember half of them.
Gramma quit reading my mind! :-)
Oops sorry Cherrypop. If I had a mind I'd read my own
sa 5/22? please
sa + high point letter + get **t of here
Cripes...that took forever....guess I'll dive into grid...

yw
<--Thinks sa5/22 is the dumbest word in the grid
there are many dumb words in this grid Molly, like all of the ja's
sa5 is not the dumbest word in the grid! sn5 is way dumber!
I was waiting for someone to clue it as "capuchin monkey" so I could laugh and laugh.
I will stick up for my words to the end!
mo8 is singular what? please.
Singular + not lives
Really? ok ty I think
Yep..ty
<--Will not come to fisticuffs with Via over dumb words
<-- thinks mo8 is the second dumbest word in the grid
Keep going you two. It's a grid FULL of them.
4 left, must think, think, think.
sn5/10 is definitely a winner...snagged me for awhile...now nbt
da6/21 definition hydrax. Since I don't know what that means either, I'm giving it the dumbest word award
So many dumb words, so little time.
2 left. Wait for it....both ja's! Surprise.
I think I'll pop the chicken in the oven and come back refreshed with a freshie in hand.
okay, add fe5/18 to the list...
*Wonders if Gramma is making drunken chicken*
nbs...taking a break..bbs

ahhh, ty
<--Knew Via was bright enough to get that one
Gramma made curry chicken. Easiest 4 ingredient deliciousness. Unfortunately the chicken was not cut properly. It took a little extra effort

I just love the sea.

are you really 7?
I agree, the sea is very calming. And yes, I am 7 at heart. : )
why 7?
Because I consider it the age where kids still remember magic.
hi again all!
Hi Sue
Evening all. May I please have a clue for fe7-44? Thanks
I love it Molly!!
hi Mollly!
and hi peach!
How are you sue?
hi uusue and peach!!
peach, add "not off" to the fe5/18
Hey there, heron.
Thanks so much, sue.
I am good, peach, although I have been doing an awful lot of physics problems (work for hire), now I have to write a bunch of them
hi, blue!
Wouldn't it be wonderful if we had been born rich instead of beautiful?
fe7/44 was a new addition to my physics babblets list today!
Yes Peach, that would help a lot. : )
ty, Peach. With my dictionary, I was successful.
hi, quail!
Hey there, quail.
Nice icon. A quail is a bird that can help you learn your soul name.
Molly, how?
The quail is associated with naming because the bob-white is in the quail family and bob-white speaks it's name. It's Native American folklore that meditating on quail can help you learn your soul name.
Cool, Molly.
brb
Hello all, back to work on this again...have 80 left...how is everyone?

hello HJ!
don't be too sure about that Jilly
hello all! ((harp)) haven't seen you in a while...

Is someone quitting, or are we just expecting to have more accidents in the vicinity?
Hi everyone...
Didn't have time to run down and check on it today though...
two fish, got the e's thanks
hey leigh!
Hi mama
Our ER is growing by leaps and bounds. When I worked in it there wasn't even an MD except on weekends. Now there are 3-4 RNS and during certain periods 2 MD's plus all the EMT's...it isn't little Hamilton any longer
A CUTE MD Jilly, don't forget the CUTE part. : )
first do5/12 pls
that's a shame, jilly -- probably nice for some of the old-timers in terms of job growth... but not nice for what was a small town.
nm, stupid plural
First do5/12 sounds like the plural of what you wear outside in the winter.
LOL molly, thought Nef and I had explained we were too old to much bother with an MD's looks....
Dammit! Forgot the Peri rule.

Hi minv...how are you?
I'm well. Had a long day and did not get home 'til 7:30.
May I ask what your career is?
Well, have some things to do, so that'll be it for tonight... *poof*

Goodnight Jillyjill! I'll see you tomorrow in the chat log

And good night all. I need to be off as well

Goodbye wht! I will see you tomorrow in the chat log.
nice mab - my cousin runs the literacy program in New Haven and it is so rewarding
mab - check your local library - I volunteer through ours.
i have a passion for human rights, and language. and i think everyone has a right to learn to read. maybe i can make something work. new haven isn't terribly far from me.
I have passion for fine food, wine, art, and love.
ok, i'll try to dig up the info she gave me. funny thing is i just got an email from her today, so if i'll get it for you soon. If you just google literacy/esl in new haven you'll probably find it. Her name is Linda Klipper and she coordinates the volunteers, trains etc.
and puns, ru, don't forget the puns
oh.. right after food
oh, thank you dorens. i definitely will look it up.
oh yes, i nearly forgot = the right to pun.

i have to buy a new tv, new kitchen stereo, and a couple of other things since I had a power surge knock everything out last week
no.. 33 left.. i guess you are ru?
speaking of puns
Not me! I have ten more words left and it's a struggle
you power company will pay for those doren if you file a claim
your
oh. my insurance company said they would. didn't think about the power company, that's even better,... they won't raise my premium
we had one at our house and it fried everything
oh no. do you have insurance for that? wow.
you need to let them know every item
oh yes, you do.
it's weird.. the computer was ok, internet, but the phone part of the modem was gone
a fan in the bedroom,... stereo, one of two tv's and something in the hottub.
it melted our surge protector
such protection, eh? (my modem was on one too)
they paid $1500 towards a new TV
that's amazing. I've never heard of such a thing happening. I'd have to lie down with a cold cloth on my head for several weeks.
i am hoping for total replacement. old tv wsn't 1500..
is that how much televisions cost? wow
why mab? insurance doesn't pay for damage to your household items?
I had to use a metal spatula to pry up the surge protector
i rent. but i'd still be prostrate.

mine is flatscreen new, but just a 32 inch from costco that doesn't connect to computer, etc. it is the one down in the "exercise room"
but maybe i should upgrade
oh yes. i'm just very easily distressed. i love my electric appliances. if they died it would be like camping.
where do you plug in camping?
i'm such a ditz ru.. didn't occur to me i guess i need a new surge protector by the computer. (as well as the other items that burned out)
that's my point.
