haha!

well done nan
okay.. i have 19 d's now
nj ru
in utah lately ruru?
no
but I love the national parks there
not crazy about the drivers in Utal
great parks
I've been to Zion.. incredible
I've lived in Utah for 15 years and I'm still not used to the drivers either
zion bryce arches
I have NEVER seen worse drivers in my life than Utal
Utah
why do they even put up Stoplights.. no one pays attention to them
phant absentee
I guess you haven't been to Montreal, ru
getting to be that way all over
I was at a stoplight (red) and the ass behind me was beeping his horn
pulled around me and went right through the red light
my gripe is the complete lack of turn signals. and not letting you in on the freeway
oh that too
love the ones that put on their signal after they've almost started the turn....we've all figured you are turning by then
Try driving in and around Rome
in Oakland the police would kill you for a smaller offense
Paris is terrifying too.
i would never drive in paris.. or NYC
so many s's in this grid...may try to not list
I figured out the 10 all by myself! Never happened before... :)

hey melon
hi dart
ru! I think I found a place!
With a view of the Golden Gate bridge?
OMG.. what great news
where..?
on Funston between lake and California
oh..
nice park near there on Lake
really spacious, well kept, great kitchen, separate dining - I can still entertain!
and you're fairly near Laurelwood shopping center
and Mai's vegetarian rolls on 4th
really pretty neighborhood
lots of interesting looking restaurants on clement
nice.. is it affordable?
reasonable
you should have windy weather there in the winter
nbt
but it's a start
Maybe when we buy a loft in the city.. we'll loan it to you
yes, windy, but that whole area is, so is pacific heights where I was looking
Hope you like fog
does it get foggy in SFO? :)
oh yes
very
almost as foggy as the financial district on friday night
starting at 5PM?
5:30
Hey ru. Long time no see! ;)
And hi Erda. :)
hi neil
Hi ru... again.
Or is that "re-hi" maybe?
maybe
Nice sized grid!
thought your new name for him was RuPaul?
nbs
hi, neil.
hi Neil
wtg melon
Hi melon and flosey.
OH you're right dart... how could I forget? lol
I'm sure ruru is the spitting image of him too.
I have to imagine what he looks like anyway because he's never shown me a photo of himself... so ok, that's how I'll picture him.
i'm afraid of heights and can't wear heels
Haha!
:D
Safe to say no elevator platform shoes or boots in your life then?
Or stilts... or ladders?
nope.. I am 6 feet tall
I'm just a little over that so we're about the same height.
in heels or flats? :)
Haha!
He said he doesn't wear heels.
I weigh probably as much as you and dart
that would be a lot ruru
I am sort of football player built
checking out. have a good evening/morning/day :) {poof}
You too melon.
Me, ru? I'm not football player built.
there'll be room service charges melon
he said both of us combined
Oh, wasn't sure if you meant that or not ru? And I dout that somehow.
Haha... checking out.
Nope, sorry. This is "Hotel California."
I figure dart to be 150 lbs and 5.7
Well... you can check out any time you like but you can never leave. :P
with a BIG head
Haha. dart is super tall.
ruru must weigh 400 if his statements before is true
:P
I wasn't weighing your head yet
probably have to don those heels to get up that high lol
I clock in at 240 +/-
235 +/-...so neil must be about 5 lbs lol
soaking wet with batteries in your pockest
neil is ethiopian
lol
Haha flosey.
Oh yeah, I'm only 5 lbs. :P
do you guys know what an ethiopian in a dinner jacket is?
hates
I am not Ethiopian. I'm of Israeli/Ashkenazi and Norwegian background.
What do you ha4,5 flosey?
it's not me Neil, it's my son Gord
typed in wrong box
think he's typing in the wrong box
gordon does a lot of that
Huh flosey? So this isn't you here in the chog?
yes, I'm here too Neil, he's on the laptop
not hers...haha
both logged in?
You're both logged into your account from different computers?
I started using babble expert, but Lickety's clues wont update on it. Am I doing something wrong?
yes
Why doesn't he just make his own account?
Much less confusing.
wow, didn't know 2 could be logged into same account at once
didn't know you could do that
Probably not, Uncover.. I don't know what you can do about that though.
Hi kje.
hi kj
hello all
hey ursh
hmm, kk, thanx , I guess maybe I will just log off and see if that will fix it
hi flos
hi nn
Hi ursh.
it's 0130 dallas time and I'm awake!
Neil, he lives in Ontario, flip time there comes in at 1: a.m. - hopefully he's sleeping
it's only 11;30 sf time.. you're changing already
kje?
well, when I am working here, I'll be back to bed by 9 - 10 again ; )
what ru?
i liked that 10 pm flip time when i was out there...better than midnight here
indeed dart
you'll have to take the gun racks out of your car when you move to SF.. unless you end up in Oakland ..then it's okay
lol
Sleeping? I saw him type in here flosey.
I'll give up my gun racks when you get a toupee for that bald head of yours
At least it looked like it was probably him?
ROFL
Huh? What's this about gun racks now? Haha.
Damn I need a gun... to shoot out the alarm in one of our neighbor's cars that keeps going off in the middle of the night. So annoying.
but Neil, he's here with us in BC now, going back to Ontario Saturday
def nn
Ok flosey. But it looked like he typed something in here. And you told me he was logged in here too? Confuse me why don't you, geez. :P
probably did neil
Just came up for air -- nbt/nbs, nowhere near halfway. Hello Gordon.
Neil, he's working on the laptop, I'm at the desk
Ok flosey... nm. It's just getting too confusing. :P
Hi jillibus.
he just went to bed Jilli
oh man.... just hit the wall, all of a sudden super sleepy
hi neil
I guess my adrenalin from finding a place can only last so long
Hope you had a crash helmet on kje?
oh well, you can hello him for me in the morning, flosey.
Finding a place? You're moving huh?
I may be beyond that nn
yes jilli, I will do that
What's beyond moving?
yep, moving, have been looking for a place for several days, seen 10, I think the 10th is home
beyond finding
Oh good.
texts crossed, beyond the help of a helmet
I was pretty excited to find this place.
you'll be only a few minutes from UCSF too kje
and near a great wine shop
few mins from ruru
one and a half hours
yes, ideal location - right between the 2 places I will need to get to quickly
kje, is this a permanent move?
dart - ruru will finally be within smacking ramge
range
we'll all have to call you to do our dirty work then
yes, jilli, though not permanent until end of month, just visiting right now
oh.. I feeeeeel the love
will be happy to
slap that is
oh wow, you're almost within reach!
Sounds great, kje.
may ne4 you to cut off either power, cable or dsl to his house for about a month or so
I'M GONNA BE A CALIFORNIA GIRL
lol
yeah.. except.> I ain't waiting at any more coffee shops
Welcome to California, kje!
if you would learn to follow directions....
thanks nn!
...look who's talking
Welcome to the west coast
Haha. Is it your mission in life to give ruru a hard time, kje? Someone should.
.. you just need a new piercing and some tatts kje
I have one tattoo.
What a wild man huh?
I've wanted a belly ring...
woooweee
you animal
I know.
haven't done it though - they have an extremely high infection rate the first couple of months
I am just a little too sane
just dont do the tongue
what does one do with a belly ring
never, dart... I make a living talking to people
that gets infected...swells up and you choke to death
Tongue piercings are just nasty.
LA is the land of pierced anything
not a fan of tats either.... they don't age well
Mine won't be so bad kje... it's thin. Kind of hard to explain so let me show you, hang on.
I almost ended up with a tatt.. it's a long story and a fair amount of tequilla
can't understand them either kj......don't age well and better be something you really really like...and not someone's name etc
http://tinyurl.com/6slnvd4
tattooed hair?
that looks painful, nn
and that hair remark was for ru
ot nn
not nn
if I ever meet you.. I'm wearing a rubberized bald cap

I dare ya
oh.. you don't know me
you'll find him easier
You can see it in this photo too... just don't mind the stupid face I'm making: http://tinyurl.com/NJL-ELM-06
short, bald....
And before you say it... yeah, yeah. I know I look like Mr. Bean there, ok? :P
cool, nn
Cool? Total dork, haha.
not the face, the tat - lol
kje is an equal opportunity abuser
perry
como?
I didn't give her the chance ru. I said it first.
but you're special ru, I'll always save my best abuse for you
i'm flattered .. believe me....NOT
He really is isn't he?
assed is not a word?
You're not flattered to be SPECIAL ru?
"special"
It should be. Like fat-assed. :P
you need Big in front of it kje
Or flat-assed. Or hairy-assed or pimply-assed. Eww that's attractive... NOT.
ooo.. eweeeewwwwwwwwwwwww
Haha. I grossed ruru out. I win.
*loses dinner*
well, no one wants to see that
Aww poor ru.
i'm sure neil will have a picture of one of those
Sorry! Now I fell really bad. :(
Why would I have a picture of one, dart?
Why would I WANT a picture of one? :P
you have a picture of everything at your fingertips
Nope. Not everything.
def poof this time, gn all

I am not using the list yet peach, so I can't help. but did not want you to feel ignored -- hate that feeeling!
Thanks anyway, Trif. I am down to 92 but must quit soon....getting very sleepy.
i am not the least bit sleepy, which does not bode well for my work day tomorrow....sigh
Oh, my. What time do you have to go in?
I have to be there at 8. and this is NOT a good week for me to be anything but stellar. things have....well....been weird lately
I'm sorry. I remember when I'd have to get about an hour of sleep and it made for a very rough day. I do hope you can get more that a couple of hours of sleep. I'll send you some energy.
thanks!!!
The energy is there now.....just try to relax and know that you will have the strength necessary to go through the day.

It's grey, very very wet here and I feel half asleep. Soon it will be winter and maybe a touchbetter weather hahaha!
it is 6 am,80f and humidex is nasty.hot and muggy
I live in Oxford, England and we have a forecast of 1 months rain in the next 24 hours! we have not had any summer yet
i have the air conditioner roaring already
tbh,i miss the cooler spring/fall weather
We very rarely need air conditioners just central heating,
i was born there jenny.crossy has treacle thick welsh blood in his veins ,and when it gets over 80f i am done for
I can't type correctly, maybe I have wetrot in my fingers!
70f with a bit of sun,a bit of cloud and a gentle breeze works for me
that means i have had finger rot for ten years!
i would love some clues for the 9s if poss

But, Glantarell, you did use the ne4/4, hmm?
Did you tell us, once, what your name means?
i have the ne4/4, but hadn't ued it as an ending yet
my name is the name of the house I lived in for 11 years (moved February) - glan is welsh for bank (river or sea) and tarell is the name of the river that ran along near the house - i.e. 'on the bank of the Tarell'
try ir9
all Welsh house names tell you somehting about thir location
very pretty.
I hadn't got to ir9 but vcan see it's a state of angriness
very pretty..i just learned the other day that glenfidditch means valley of the deer:) well lets have a wee drop of valley of the deer please;)
As annihilated
I was thinking about changing my name here but then nobody would know who I was LOL
dont change it now!
Well, I guess all over the world, before we had street signs, we needed to direct people to our homes/markets/castles.
took me two years to get used to riverdance from momneedshelp
yes, i think it's sad that our streets will confuse the historians of the future
they seem to name new developments in 'themes' here - ash street, oak street, elm street etc
not ours.all our streets that run east to west are tree, birch, elm, poplar, cedar etc and all and run north-south are numbered first through tenth
Especially street names that once indicated the business - Bread Lane, or Pudding Lane or Milk Street. In my part of London, we have Cable Stree, where cables for shipping were made.
yes but ikt still doesn't tell you anything about the place crossy
no,there is no history in the steet names except for on maned after our only officer who was killed in the line of duty
named
one of my favourites is 'load of hay lane' - I can just imagine it got named because somebody lost a load of hay and then peple startied saying - oh, you know, the lane where X lost his load of hay
oh and we have a "old mail road" that was used by the stage coaches that ran the mail back in the day
the street I live on is called Tyn-y-Coed - smallholding in the woods - which describes what was here before the houses were built 50 yrs ago
love it
you guys get the best names for stuff
hello again
Yes. In the east end of London, we have a lot of streets named for battles, those losst or won. But now there's a push to change them, so as not to offend newcomers, from the countries where we fought those wars.
after lunch and pre-Tour
We have a village called Halfway - it was half way between Fishguard & Gloucester, and the coach (and Horses) used to break the journey there
hi Rub y
towns you hear about like puddleby on the wye
Ruby - it's NOT RAINING here!!!!
((ruby))
Crosshair - we have one in N.England, called Ashby-de-la-Zouche - I think it must;ve been settled by the Dutch.
Ashby-de-la-Zouch is also in Leicestershire
we have one up the road called craigleithe
It's so long since I lived in England, I forget where places are -- and I guess there's been a lot of restructuring the counties since I left.
The de la Zouche family descended from Alan de la Zouche, sometimes called Alan de Porhoët and Alan la Coche (c. 1136–1190), a Breton who settled in England during the reign of Henry II. He was the son of Vicomte Geoffrey I de Porhoët and Hawisa of Brittany. He married Adeline (Alice) de Belmeis, daughter of Phillip de Belmeis and Maud la Meschine and died at North Molton in North Devon. He obtained Ashby in Leicestershire (called after him Ashby-de-la-Zouch) by his marriage.
I guess Leicestershire isn't northern England. My son-in-law is from Leics, and gets mad when I call it Northeern.
East Midlands
Thank you, for the info.

these place names are so interesting! Neither in the US or in France are place names so interesting.

I'm impressed crossy, nothing is named for me (exzcept maybe my son....)
so what is this name Crossy?
Of the cities
Melbourne
there is the aussie one, there is one in florida and there is a third but the locale escapes me now
thanks glan
Ah, there is a Melbourne in Derbyshire, England, and the more famous one in Australia - where's the third?
Florida!
Melbourne in Derbyshire, England, used to be one of those really pretty villages
florida, glant, but you need a police record to move there (only kidding)
thats the one derbyshire
Now, why did I think he was Dutch? I must've been dozing in class, because I remember a discussion of the town's name. And later there was a song, about Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Castle Abbey.
Melbourne is a Georgian market town in South Derbyshire, England. It is about 8 miles south of Derby and 2 miles from the River Trent.[1] In 1837 a then tiny settlement in Australia was named after William Lamb, 2nd Viscount Melbourne, Queen Victoria's first Prime Minister, and thus indirectly takes its name from Melbourne Hall, seat of the Lamb family, and the village.
sounds like a wonderful place the one in florida:( but it kind of fitsas you kind of need a police record to be part of this family as well
So are you a lamb, Crossy???
there is a thread of relationship,he was boinking queen vic whist she was a princess, shocking! since he was her ;advisor: ad 54 at the time
naughty man...
so who's criticizing police records? Had a colleague from SA who, when he went to Australia, was asked if he had a police record. He repliead,"Oh, is it still necessary?"
and she was but 18-19
lol ruby!!
bet thta made him popular Ruby
he was a hoot!
the aussies are a bit touchy about the nations criminal heriatge
bet he got the private search room
i am sure it was a honor,to have a town named after us..in a prison colony..guess vic and lamb had a falling out:))
if we got touchy about our immigrant pasts, many of us would be in big trouble!
true, but many who were sent to ausrralia n prison ships were not real criminals
they were poor people sent off for stealing food to eat
indeed
starvation or prison?
at least you got SOME food in prison
my grandmother, arriving in Ellis Island in about 1903, got sent back to Russia, at least once
australlia was used as a catch-all for what were considered dregs, out of sight, out of mind
my family never made it to Ellis Island, they got off the ship in Liverpool and never got back on
and my mother (from the other side), when she arrived as an infant, had head lice (travelling in steerage), but they shaved her head and let her stay
I think thye were travelling in a group of about 10, and they realised one person wouldn;t get through Ellis Island (sickness?)
we came over here in 1966(i think the U.K asked us to leave) lol
the family name still haunted....
but my uncle and his brood still reside in london
morning all!

The Flatfish is born with one eye on each side of its head, giving it a grotesque appearance. As it grows, one eye begins to move until both are on the same side, allowing the fish to lie on the ocean floor and scan above for food.

wow!
yay, Hurshy
how are you today, Annie? Is your power staying on okay?
Nef, It came back on after 2 PM and still on :)
oh, good. I kept picturing you trying to go up and down all those stairs in the dark! Have you ever had to walk it before?
Nef, yes, a few times over the years. When I was young I carried my daughter up wearing heels. I laugh now when I think of it.
Bye mom!
OMG! I wouldn't have done that in 1000 years! (you didn't take off the shoes?
I was worried about Bobby (my down syndrome) son walking up 23 floors in pitch black so I was going walk down and walk up with him. I was not look forward to that but thank goodness the power came bac.
TWENTY THREE FLOORS? good heavens
Yes, hurshy did it more than once
See, I'm the lazy sort. I would have stayed downstairs til the power was back on....
i would have not moved to NYC
as in fact, i have not
I have done that too...the backside of living up here
Afternoon all - back for some more
hurshy, I've lived in NY all my life
Hi Glant :)
hi hursh and Glant
Hi Nef, Annie
and Hurshy
There are pros and cons to living anywhere; I just think that the fact you would consider walking up 23 flights (after going DOWN them!) in the dark says something about your fortitude and strength, Annie! I'm impressed!
LOL, Nef...life in the big city
*refrains from expressing pity for annie, because she knows that her hatred of NY, Chicago, and Vegas is clearly not universal*
I hate cities, and could never live in a building with lots of floors, or lots of other people.
hurshy, do you live in a large or small city?
small.
hurshy, no pity required. I love living in the big city.
<---Couldn't walk up 23 flights in my best shape ever
i thought i hated all cities, but after visiting europe, i realized i don't hate ALL cities, just ones with skyscrapers and that sort of closed-in feeling.
Did you grow up in a city Annie?
Mollly, yes you could if you had no other choice.
I have lived in NYC all my life
The city I grew up knowing is DC and we have no skyscrapers (nothing can be taller than The Washington Monument). When I am in cities with skyscrapers, I get claustraphobic.
That's probably why you lov it - I grew up in a large village, and I don;t like places which are much bigger for long
I quite like cities in Europe for a few days - Barcelona, Prague, and others, but a few days is my limit
I love Washington,
I would also have qualms living above the 6th floor, knowing what I know about fire and rescue.
but in washington i think i would feel conscious of all the corruption around me.
there is corruption everywhere Hursh
I'm more conscious of the history Hursh.
hi, y'all. looks like a big one today.
it's particularly concentrated in washington though. :)
hi carla - and it is big
but mostly not difficult
I'm wondering how long it would take to walk up 23 flights? I have found through the years that my limit for standing is about 2 hours -which is what the ortho surgeon told me years ago. I think I'd be stuck about half way up!
I am not a city person. I like to visit them, but I need trees and grass and nature around me.
Morning everyone
Hi Meg
There a young woman who lives in my apartment building who walked down 82 floors on 9/11 on that horrible day
hi hokie and megs and Molly and whomever else I missed
wow - you'd never get me up 82 floors at all
Wow, Annie. I was thinking about that yesterday after we'd chatted....
We also lost a fireman that day who lived in the building
Hi Megsy
Good morning, Babblers!
Hi Judi
hi Judi. Your icon reminds me of the vacation I took with my sisters in April. There was a scrabble game there with 1 board and probably close to 3 games worth of letters. (It wasn't fun to play with too many letters)
Hmm. Bet all those vowels were a bit problematic after a few rounds.
yes, that and ending up with 2z's and someone else with 3x'x
3 x's
Right. And there's never a Q when you need one.
LOL! very true
Find that proper noun: Famous Star Trek Captain.
Eek, what kind of sadist thinks it's fun to play Scrabble with three games worth of letters?
REALLY bored sadists.
hmm, kirk, picard, sisko, janeway, pike...
oh you mean the ACTOR
shatner
Real name, not character name.
I knew I could count on Hurshy! Ding! Ding! Ding!
i'm the type of fan who likes to pretend that it's real and therefore ignores all the behind the scenes real life stuff :)
there were 6 of us there; but even adding 2 more players didn't work (we thought that adding more players might work. It didn't). and it took too long to sort out the letters for a single game
anyway, BBL. I need to do some house work for a change! :-)
93 left for later, bye
Well, I made it to halfway on my own. The words seem to be slowing down now.
49 left, all S & T - tedious - see you later
yeah if you do multi packs of letters you have to also do multi boards.
Another proper noun search: One of the Marx brothers.
harpo!
Correct!
free clue: old crone + small yummy fruit
Well, with 164 left, I'm going to have to hit the list.
I hate it when I see words right away from the list that I know and should have gotten.
yep, that is the downside
of course it's usually words that start with vowels. it's like I'm blind to them.
with me it's P words.
any clues for the lower A in the second column or any stats?
ar5/6
well, as far as consonants go, P's are tough to see, too., esp. when the 2nd letter is a consonant.
to help with a crime and pl
ty ruru and hurshy
Hey ruru.
I sent you another file.
Belfast, IE. Check your email.
And this one's much smaller than the others.
oh.. okay.. thanks.. after i wrap up some words here
Ok, I'll log into GTalk.
free clue: te6 rhymes with country next to croatia
and the african fly is in here!
that's it for me, bye all!
That was one of the first words I found... run into that one a lot in boggle games.
really.. I never see it in boggle
No ru? I've seen it on Weboggle in the 5x5 grid pretty often... but you only play on 4x4.
Also see it someimes in Word Racer.
no.. I've been playing 6's lately too..
Which is another boggle game.
I'm just not good at it yet
Playing sixes on 4x4?
or do you mean on 5x5?
anyone play scramble?
Not me.
yea.. teh 5 x 5 but only 6 letter words or larger
I play here: http://weboggle.info/
http://tinyurl.com/NN-Weboggle
okay, I will write that down and check it out later. gotta get the kids moving right now!
Yes. I play sixes there too sometimes.
And fives in Word Racer.
Just copy and paste it... easier.
Actually I have the link on profile.
oh, don't go trying to make my life easier with your newfangled copy/paste. ;-)
Well, if anyone does ever start playing Scramble, my name is CJHokie (I'm not very creative.).
I think feather peri and kje play scrabble somewhere
I do also play Scrabble through the EA app. The ipad one only goes through Facebook, but the iPhone one you can play other people with EA accounts.
Afteroon all p just a brief dip in before the tennis
has anyone played phonetic scrabble?
hello everyone :)
are you playing tennis or watching tennis? Oh, I guess you're going to be watching Andy Murray.
no, aeb. I don't think I would like that.
watching - but only as a peripheral thing - will prob stay here - Federer match was good
BBL. Down to 90 at least!
alright, I gotta get outside. will probably be back later.
it is only difficult if you play it with both regular spellings and phonetic spellings.
did Federer win I guess? He was up by 2 sets the last time I checked. We are at a house with no TV this week. Noooo!
wait, just saw a picture that looked like Djokovic celebrating.
Who was he playing?
i thin he did got distracted by the thunderstorm - and when I came back it was over
never mind, just saw the score. Federer won.
the other one that begins with DJ - can say but can't spell it
okay, this time I'm really out.
oh.. they've already met in the semi finals?
djokavic
yep - thats it now - finals on Sunday - hopefully `murray and federer but you never now
thats the one ruru
Phonetic Scrabble, aebmusica?
Murray is the likely one
his game is so greatly improved
Is that online or off? I'm assuming it could only be offline... but you can set a challenge-enabled game up on Yahoo, so you could play it that way there.
he appeared to struggle at time though. I can't believe the amount of tennis I have watched - i loathe it
it's a great sport. I wish I could still play it

good for you Nan
determined to finish this one -- rolling blackouts zapped my web access last nite and wasn't able to finish . . .grumble grumble grumble
Hi Une.
not good une:(
hey, neil :-)
You'll need vodka to endure watching it, crossy? Haha, come on. He's not THAT bad. :P
100+ day after day after day is really rough on local power grids . . . sheesh
I hope it's good Russian vodka.
Wow... that's HOT.
Hotter than here = hotter than Hell.
recordbreaking heat . . . and BAD drought . . . ugh
indeed, neil!
Actually while we get some brutal heat waves, most of the time it's not too bad here compared with other parts of the country. We get ocean breezes and they definitely help a lot.
no,the vodka is to wash that diet popcorn down..crossy is not allowed potato chips
feel so sorry for the farmers . . . they're suffering . . .
I'll never forget a conversation with 2 ladies on the bus from our hotel to D'Orly in Paris... they hated France, the people were rude and the food was terrible. Did you try to speak a little French (hello, please, thankyou) "No. If they want tourists they should speak English" Which restaurants did you go to? "MacDonalds"!
Yeah I'm shocked at how hot it is elsewhere... even up in Canada they have temps like yours.
Well I'm talking Toronto area... friends there are telling us how hot it is.
typical, nan
maybe i'll stay in and work on this puzzle
a large part of the time i was in France i pretended to be Canadian :-)
we are cooking here today
I would, Pickles... avoid the heat.
Haha, Une.
it is 30c but the hmidex is way up there
Which makes it feel even hotter than it is.
Ay carumba! Its hot... 36c
Fun stuff.
why did you do that une?
Where are you, IndiaJan?
The only country in which I don't wear my Canadian maple leaf pin is the USA -- they all know we're Canadians anyway, eh?
Americans in general . . . and specifically it was during the Vietnam war
Where are "Lambton Shores"?
100 left. bye!
hi and bye, harry!
Just north of detroit
i wear my pin/patch everywhere.if someone does not care for it..touigh
Unless you're one of those Canadians who don't say "eh", nan. Not all do. And people in Toronto have pretty generic sounding N. American accents not too unlike ours. We don't have much of one here.
but we seem to be liked most everywhere,so it has never been an issue
so true, crossy
My husband is from the prairies, where "eh" is used all the time --- a dead giveaway
I dont say eh...at least i dont think so anyway
and une,you would be busted as american the first time you said "toronto" because it is often pronounced "toronno" or "torrana" buy us locals eh?
can I get a clue for the lower A in the 2nd column for NBT please?
trawna
I lived in Oakville for 7 years and still don't say torrona

i have a customs friend who uses that bit of info as a guide
ty Flosey!
Well crossy... when we were in Toronto we heard natives there pronounce it properly.
ai5/10...one who ventilates
Or the big smoke ot T.dot
tx flosey -- had the shelter one . . .
like i said,a lot,not all
my point was that not all who say Toronto are Americans
up here we just call it the pimple of ontario lol home of the citiots
i get it cyybernan
honest
thats why i did not say all
No they're not, nan... we heard Toronto natives say "Toronto" very clearly.
lol

i have made such a burger pat
my son was talking aboput candied bacon
It's from Slaters50/50 in California. The ‘Merica, the restaurant’s July burger of the month, is a 100 percent ground bacon burger topped with more bacon, a sunny-side-up egg, bacon island dressing and bacon cheddar cheese.
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Nope. Not happening.

Hello. Just minding my own grid here. Sounds like crossy could use a griddle to help with tomorrow's breakfast. Did we say roadtrip?
one day i looked at my stove top and saw i have 4 twelve inch pans going at one,one for eggs, one for sausages, one for potato pancakes and one for bacon and decided that as of that moment i was a lost cause
how is mrs cross? And "baby" cross? I took Grant for his third time behind the wheel this morning. Let him drive on our road. He only had to stop and kick neighbor's driveway gravel smooth a couple times.
Hello mother!
Hello mama.
On the road again, how I love to be on the road again.
mrs crossy is doing well, her eye disease limits her but i help her enjoy life as much as i can and baby crossy is now 18 6 feet tall and weighs 175 pounds
I need/want to do some shopping this afternoon as it warms up -- would you love to come with me? *expectant daughter look*
lol,how are the nerves after the driver training?
YIKES!!! he takes after you, does he? LOL TALL. Actually Grant is about 6 ft too, but only about 130 pounds. I can't feed him enough. *sigh*
he must be a bean pole!
Dad is being Steadfast this morning. He will be home this afternoon I think depending on winds. I'll be glad to run errands with you.
The nerves aren't bad. This kid has excellent reflexes and instincts. Starting and stopping a clutch on gravel was the big lesson today... it's tougher than it looks! LOL
Super! about 1:30, Mother?
Doesn't get the bean pole look from my side of the family.
Good time. I'll be ready.
AND -- he passed the written exam first go. So when he's ready for his actual license he won't have to do that again.
i find at this age16-20,proper meal times help: breakfast, elevenses, lunch, afternoon snack, dinner, after dinner snack, and before bed snack lol
Great. see you then. Meantime, I am down to 240.
You have the same feeding schedule planned as the Hobbits do, crossy.
LOL definitely! He eats every chance he gets. For breakfast, he had leftover lemongrass chicken. And also for lunch.
hehe
oh! forgot second breakfast!
breakfast,second breakfast then elevenses;)
yep. and one should always carry an apple or something just in case you get nibble-ish in between.
Time for my first lunch. We have some leftovers which will be fine heated up. Enjoy your afternoon crossy. I always enjoy chatting when you are online.

Poof for me.

hey peri -- want to come help me clean out my garden? *sigh* Have worked for two hours already and it looks like I barely touched it. Grant worked for an hour and did three times as much.

not sure which would be easier, cleaning the house or blowing it up
*hastily cleans extra room for peri*
:)

i nedd a tornado to come through here and do $20,000 worth of improvements

When I en5/10ed Babbleland today,I deba5/16 starting the grid knowing I would not finish it.I did start and was able to find 177 words sa4/4 clues. Then I stopped. Now here is a story of clues. I'm so unhappy that I am hell be 4/6 on leaving my husband.Things have gotten really te 5/10 between us and they only get te6/18 every day.At first, I was not sure if I should leave him because he has no health be4/6fits.However,my therapist has st5/10ed me into the right direction. He told me that since I have all of this anger&rese 4/4ment built up inside me that I should not be with him anymore. Now I'm de5/12mined to be free of him. I ha4/5 being with him. He drives me insa4/4!I know I will not be able to divorce him with ea 4/4. I know that he will not he4/5 of it.We will get into several he6/24 arguments over it.My first step is to find an apartment to re4/4. Husband ne 4/5s the computer. If I do not give computer to him,he will go into a ra4/6. I am going to go watch the movie "The Untouchables",a movie about gangster Eliot Ne 4/4. I'll be back later on to clue and socialize for the re 4/4 of the evening.

Im going to start to think about dinner. Bye everyone and have a good, cool evening.
It is half and half. I am unhappy in my marriage but I'm not in going to therapy, which I probably should be I'm still not sure what to do. My hubby can't afford to live on his own.
Goodbye Anniebrook! I'll see you tomorrow in the chat log.
Min, I hope you can get some help with this. It's a lot to deal with on your own.
:(
Min, I will be thinking about you and praying that the situation becomes more livable.
if you left him who would you write about?
Hello Picklesny! How are you doing? Welcome to the puzzle
bye dear babblers
bye annie
i am good, min you?
That is true Picklesny! I would have to find some other jerk to write about.
Its national ice cream month
Today is National Fried Chicken day.Look at my profile pic
that's what made me think of it. lets put both in the pb
Fried chicken and ice cream in the PB? *Runs there*
National Public Radio announced at NAD today their radio programs will be captioned. Start this October. Another milestone reached.
That is great Cos. And it's taken WAY too long.
Netflix just lost a major case against NAD --- the court ruled website based business have to comply with ADA
As they should.
interesting tidbit for today.as you all know,we have a new kitten and while our 3 year old make had no problems with the kitten, our 6 year old female has been attacking to injure and she has regressed somewhat and hides and has started shying away from us. a tip from the shelter sent us to the health food asile at the grocers and in the section where you find tea tree oil and the like there is a product for human and animal consumption called "rescue remedy" it is a all natural calming agent and is working wonders in combination with a dab of liquid lavander on her favorite toy
cos, what does that change in the way netflix operates on a daily basis?
subtitles on their streaming movies
good!
my mrs often needs subtitle for her bad eyes
they have a lot ofmovies subtitles but not 100%
I don't understand about NPR. Radio captioned?
we have been debating netflix for us even though it is severly chopped for canada
we have big brother CRTC telling us what to watch:((
when they run their programs online, pickles
ty
the U.s is a open nirvana of television wonder by comparison lol
whee at long last - i have got my fireworks!!!
That is a real breakthrough for the deaf and hard of hearing community Cos. I'm glad Netflix lost their case.
they're appealing though
Congratulations Kazzer99 on your fireworks! Hooray for U!
Hello everyone!
Well, here's hoping they lose the appeal.
I'm shooting for 1/2 way through
howdy red
Hi Red.
Hello redturtlehead! How are you doing? Welcome to chog
Hi again everybody.
Hi Nef
Hello Nef, Molly Cross, Pickles, Minver, Molly and cos!
hi red
and nef
Crossy, we used to use Rescur Remedy to calm my daughter-in-law. It actually worked for a while when she had post partum depression. Not sure if it would help now.... haven't tried it for a while
S's done
hi, red
I may need to use if for the dog...he has really been getting worse and worse with the thunder storms..
How is all?
Rescue Remedy Geez! I can't type today!
red, get a Thunder Coat for your dog. They really work (kind of like swaddling a baby helps calm them)
i saw a commercial for that nef!
one of these extended commercials on late night tv
I have been thinking about it as well...just wonder if he would wear it.
would rescue remedy work on a dog scared of tstorms and fireworks
Stupendous cosdem!
I found a 9 nice one.
my friend has a 6 yr old Cavalier that is petrified by thunderstorms. Now when one happens that dog is calm and stays on the bed (not cowereing and whinning underneath it)
Hi Nef! How are you doing? Welcome back to the chat log.
hi Min. (((Min)))
ta7 please
Nef do they use rescue remedy
My King Charles Cavalier is also petrified of thunderstorms.
I need to invest in the thundercoat. It seems expensive, BUT.. all that pacing is driving me nuts.
Hello speedfreak! How are you doing? Welcome to the chog
speed, I'm not sure about if it would work on a dog scared of thunder. It worked on my D-I-L for her anxiety attacks after she had her baby though
nef, red, the rescue remedy is working really well for the cat atm.it was to the point where she was regressing badly and now she is much calmer, not a ball of tension and is not lashing out at the kitten
this grid has been really nice and fun.
I sure wish I was close to finishing.
I wonder if you could sort of swaddle the dog and see if it calms down first to see if you think it would do okay with the thunder coat?
hi min doing good, maybe I should look into the thundercoat my poor shepherd gets so upset that I feel I cannot go out if there is going to be a storm and this time of year with fireworks she is just a mess
Actually a friend of mine says they used to use Ace bandages.
I think it would work.
On the fourth this year dog had a triple whammy:fireworks lightening and thunder all at the same time.He was a mess
(trying to imagine wrapping a shepherd with ace bandages during a storm....)
lol, would rather 2 sprays of rescue remedy
same here min
your poor dog, Min
My dog did the oddest thig. We had a thunder storm, and he freaked out, but then 2 hours later all the loud FW went off, and he was snooing all comfortbly. darn I forgot I have not last letter of the alphabet.
he didn't have a problem with the fireworks, red? That's interesting
swaddling was magic for my son but it wasn't always easy wrapping him up
yeah, I know what you mean Pickles
yes, I thought it was biarre, he could have cared less about the Fireworks.
BUt he always get pacy and nervous about an hour before a storm hits...so he senses something, which is odd hes not a particularly bright animal.
it doesn't take brains to sense things though....
(or shall I say much intelligence?)
my rottie does not like fireworks but could care less about thunderstorms
I wish thats how teulu was, because we get a lot more t storms than fireworks..
Hi people.
hi neil.
our dog gets very clingy before a thunderstorm and is ok as long as he has someone to cuddle with
Hi red.
dang. on a roll with words and keep trying to chat in the wrong box again. Hi neil
Hi Nef.
red, how did you name your dog teulu, and how do you say that?
te6 before the first te8?
never mind
even though I hold the shepherd during the storms she is still shaking and panting and uncomfortable so I don't even know if it is worth it to spend money on something
if crossy says the Rescue Remedy works onhis cat; check at the health food store and see if it can be used on a dog. They have small bottles of it
and maybe try wrapping it us in an old blanket to swaddle it?
the rescue remedy was ok,d by the vet for cat and dog use
would not of used it otherwise:)
1-2 spritzes(i got the aerosol) and two to 3 for large breed dogs
there is aerolsol,drops and pills

Way to go Cos. Hey, did you hear they are doing a stage show of The Exorcist? That should be interesting.
Morning everyone
lol,get my mrs to play the little girl..seems she is capable of spinning her head around a gull 360 degrees today:))
TY Cross, found that Rescue Remedy for animals here - might try that for Stew
howdy lynxx
np lynxx
crossy, I didn't mean that you'd use something not safe; it's just that some things are safe for cats but not dogs (and vice versa)
i cannot believe how it is calming our 6 year old female kitty, not stoned, just calm..perhaps i should add a spritz to the wifes coffee....
it should work, crossy, but it will take more than 1 or 2 spritz
They seem to make it Rescue Remedy for Pets - Cats/Dogs/Horses/birds - looks like all plant ingredients
Oh I should never have waited until i was hungry to try to get dinner together...
Are you eating the ingredients faster than you're cooking them Red? : )
down to 100 left
I am hungry too. have no idea what to eat tho
too hot to go out
Well done Peri.

I really wish I had my own kitchen
It's sounds like you are ready to move on.
I am looking but no luck as yet
it is less expensive here but lot of trade offs
It has to be more difficult with three more people living there.
97,yay below 100

Good Job Peri!!!! I wish I was under 100!
I get angry with myself when I go to the list and see words that I should have found

Yes, I tried it. : D
storm is OVER, whoo hoo.
Red, what is the connection between the TV, the dog and thunderstorms?
the power had some issues, I thought the TV had died, and the dog was unhappy, no real connection.
I actually did at the mid point wrap him in the ace wraps, never tried it before. He is much calmer. So I think I need a thunder jacket thing
Shoot, I wanted to get closer to being done...but I'm getting tired...
Ah, I get it now.
57 left. help pls with pe7
NM
po5/16 is a funny word
just got to less than 100 left
I've never heard it used, Peri.
me neither. will try to incorporate it into a sentence sometime soon :)
OMG, way too many re words
It might be Bostonese. As in you get ho5 when you watch a po5.
hahaha
Hey there, Molly.....I sent you an email. Made me cry and misery loves company. No, just kidding.
LOLOL
ho5 and po5 with Boston accents are great words. : )
Peach, I love that quote from Hebrews. "Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by this, some have entertained angels without knowing it."
So true.
Need food....bbl.
I love the quote find your own beach.. oh.. that's brew.. not hebrew
Hey Ru, this brew's for you. *Clink*

Send up a flare if you get lost Peri. We will send help. : )
hi ru. you're ahead of me, peri
mrs. ru didn't like either of those jokes
thanks, Molls
and hi Doren
oh, i'm sorry to hear that. hope it doesn't give her a bad impression of me... they're not really characteristic of my "elegant" personality, right?
I didn't credit you on the jokes
<---took the brunt of it
LOOL
oh good. but did you tell her that they did come from a jewish girl
Perhaps Mrs. Ru is suffering from Babble Nosenseofhumoritis.
well.. molly .. any jokes about princesses are off to a bad start at the get go
can't tell if she resents the time he spends here or is appreciative of being left alone... i mean, how many puns can one girl stand in a given day?
oh i totally agree ru... unless they are made by one. like jersey jokes, molly understnds
oh I don't pun with mrs ru
I do make her laugh though
she really married me for the cappuchinos anyway
oh what a good husband you are
I can't fix hot tubs though
we pay people for that!
well this is something that would be important.
she had a funny story yesterday
It's the men who buy us hot tubs we're interested in, not the ones who can fix them.
one of her swimming buddies was going on and on about a local restaurant.. and mrs Ru said.. um.. I don't go out to dinner. Paul cooks for me every day
actually, i bought my own,but i appreciated Louie being able to do the maintenance on it... they need to be cleaned out and refilled and "dealt with" which i don't like doing
yes, she does have it made. and you don't just cook, you cook well!
I am jealous. wish I had someone to cook for me everyday
so my time here is ALLOWED
and you know what kind of wine to serve with meals too, ruru!
good trade off
I gave her a nail file the other day to check
:D
So...did she drop it?
oh you are evil
LOL
FIREWORKS!
LOL how appropriate
*Sounds buzzer* The correct answer would be "3 times".
haha... good job peri
TY

his orangeness?

*drops joke line*
:D I dont mind, but people get so unhappy. We seem to be doing better this election season, so far...
Asshat is a word Red. There are so many of them, it's almost epidemic.
oh come on red... boehner isn't politics, really... is he? i just think he is one colossal joke who no one can take seriously. how did he get to be speaker anyway
thank you molly... and I kind of agree Dorens!
definition: (noun) one who has their head up their ass, thus wearing their ass as a hat.

Goodbye Dorens! I'll see you tomorrow in the chog maybe.
Shirl, I'm like the kid in The Sixth Sense. I see stupid people. Walking around like regular people. They don't see each other. They only see what they want to see. They don't know they're stupid.
so true, molly
ha8/75 - Is the third letter the second letter?

i'm falling asleep ..
so early on a friday, ru?
that is my line
i didn't mean to be a line stealer!
well the chat certainly isn't keeping me awake
sorry ru. i could complain about people at work if that would help entertain you?
yes..
no, ru stole my line
hi again all!
ok. well, there was the woman who called at 5 after 5, and wanted to know why the doctor who is away on vacation isn't answering his home number...
sorry we are not entertaining enough for you.... can strip if that will help
Hello uusue2!How are you doing?Welcome back to the grid
.. now it's getting interesting
hi min!
when told he's out of town, she >supposed< she could talk to me instead. when told that I was helping a client right now, she said "well, this won't take but a minute"
hi sue :)
...... sock 1
*twirls pom-poms for kje*
oh.. geez.. I see that all the time at our vets too jes
receptionist politely informed her that i would call her back when i was done helping the client i was with. turns out, she's calling about a critter that's been having issues for 2 days. so she waits until 5 after 5 on a friday? what?
ba..da da.. ba.. deee daaa daa
.... sock 2
*sticks a dollar bill in kje's waistband*
yes.. I see it all the time
(needs more than jsut ones here, people!)
....sock 3
are you in San Francisco, kje? too hot for socks here!
yeah.. she's got rent to pay
exactly!
hmm. similarly, there was a woman with a bunch of lambs with diarrhea (for a week) who wants to know what she can give over the counter. She also asked my receptionist to interrupt me during an exam so she could talk to me. So sorry, but the person who is physically here, (and paying me money!) gets priority over the one who just wants me to tell her what to go buy at the feed store.
wait, what? 3 socks?
I bet she felt sheepish after that
ha, I have a funny story about my mom, my dad, and 3 socks
... wind breaker
oh no, sue... that sounds like a bad punch line!
hey, i made it past half way! :)
during the war (WWII) my mom (who has never knitted anything before or since) decided to knit my dad some argyle socks, since that's what all the girls were doing for their guys who were off at war
and apparently got nbt in there somewhere too...
so she knitted a pair, and then thought, suppose one got a hole in it?
Jes, I refer to that as Pay Attention To Me Syndrome. As in people who think they, what they want, and what they say is ALWAYS the most important thing to deal with. There needs to be meds for it.
so he gets this nice package, his buddies gather around to see what his girl has sent him, and he pulls out -
i wish i could medicate the humans, molly!
three socks. Took a long time to live that down!
hehehe
she was just thinking ahead, sue :)
funny sue!!!
lessee. what else happened today. oh, well there's this woman who has been in a few times... always frustrating to deal with, because her husband works in a human medical lab.
well, that's what she thought. I think his buddies had a few suggestions about what to do with the third sock :-)
<---Keeps "third leg" jokes to herself
instead of this meaning he's knowledgable about labwork, what this actually translates to is that he's convinced somehow that my offering blood work to check kidney values on an elderly dog prior to anesthesia is just me trying to gouge them for extra cash.
but he married her anyway after he got out of the Army, and here I am!
these folks flatly refused to tell me where their dog had been vaccinated or when, just assured me that he was current.
informed me that they have "another vet at some distance from here" where they go for "certain things" and they come here for other things.
does he still have those socks?
She got exceedingly offended when I asked who the other clinic was so that we could consolidate records.
Jes, I think you should euthanize all the owners and set their animals free.
well, turns out that the other clinic is one that closed earlier this year, and i got all their records. Hah!
so anyway, today, she called and was giving my receptionist a bitch of a time about her records. She demanded that we send her the original records, all of them. She wanted absolutely no records kept here, wanted it to be as if her animals had never come here.
I don't think so, kje, although I should ask him!
would be fun
i wonder if the owners "shop" around for human medical care in the same manner?
it's been almost 70 years now, I don't know that socks last that long...
we lost ru again... sad to know my stripping was so boring
granted, I do dress in layers out here
I think we lost him at the third sock, kje :-)
ru may be trying to figure out what the third sock was for
now, 1 that's illegal. and 2 that's stupid - if i keep no records what do i say when she comes back and sues me? and 3 that's mighty rude of her. she didn't have any explanation as to why she wanted us to pretend we'd never se4 her, and brusquely refused the offer of tranfering records to her new clinic.
I couldn't wear a sock there
can munchausen be transferred to animals?
when informed that it is required by law that we keep the originals of the records but we'd be happy to make copies, she insisted that the records are HER property and demanded that we send them.
so we copied her records, and printed out the relevant administrative code stating that original records are the property of the clinic and must be retained at the clinic, and sent those with the copies of her records.
wonder where she got the idea that the records were hers?
i think that'd by munchausen's by proxy, dawger
I love our vets
Lots of people think medical records are theirs.
on the other hand, I was told today that I have excellent bedside manner and that it's absolutely great how I interact with the animals. so that's good. :)
ok, we have to get up early for yet another parade tomorrow, so I am going to bed. see you later!
i haven't had a vet that i or the animals didn't like.
sleep sweet, sue
hagn sue
sweet sleeps, UU
wouldn't that be cushion side manner?
That is all that matters, Jes. The rest of it is just superfluous BS.
medical records are... sort of... yours. in that clinics are required to provide copies of records at request. we are allowed to charge for making copies and shipping records out, but we don't.
Yep, I meant the originals, not copies. : D
well, technically for that dog it'd be floorside manner, ru... he weighs more than i do!
i can't remember ever being charged for copies of records or certificates. I know my sister has for the certificates to travel by air, but none of my vets ever did. small town vets are different than big city vets. just like human doctors, for the most part.
some vets do charge for them
we just give ours wine and they waive the charges
welp, i best be getting my heinie off to the pillows. see you all tomorrow.
ru, that's bartering! :-)
the only person i've ever told i would charge for records was one who repeatedly requested copies of the same records. about the 4th time she requested them (some 18 months after the dog died!) i sent a letter with them saying that we would be charging for any further copies she requested...
sleep sweet, dawg
poof
actually lbd that is bartendereing
*waves to pam and nrkii

thanks for the de9 and 10, nrkii
hey jes hope all is well in crittertown?
pretty well, stid
ir9 ... if you are angry, you have anger... if you are ir5, you have ir9
mkg, the ir 9 ends with the Loch monster name
still no takers for the diabetic cat, but a possibility for one of the lame horses, maybe.
ntkii i must be spelling it wrong. i have a seven. not a nine
I am daunted by the fact that I have 100 words left to find and 20 of them are seven letters.
Congratulations kje on your fireworks display!Good for you
ty stid. ty nrkii. got it.
I have 113 and 6 9 letter words, 22 7 letter words... and 7 8 letter words. *sigh*

there is an ea9 which might be someone from Maine, Massachusetts, etc....
ty nrkii. got it. i am an ea 9
the ye7 is similar to ea7 meaning from the ea4
ty got the ye 7.
thanks, nrkii. that finishes the y's for me
looking for the te 6/14 and 6/18 that come before the te 4/4 sea bird please?
te6/18 more stressed?
(haven't listed yet, don't know if there's one between those)
that's a lot before the one I need, these two come right after a te 5/10 babblet
and they come from the lower-down T
(just figured that out)
te6 18... use same vowel every other letter
ah! shipworm, I think
thanks nrk
one more T word...
what is the other one you're looking for?
te?
the TE 6/14 right before the one you clued
oops. 6/24. sorry

hi, all. Just want to let all of you know my dad came home from the hospital yesterday afternoon, and he is feeling much better. He is completely coherent, and is not having as much difficulty walking, nor is he falling. His sodium level was very low, which caused much of the issues he was having. I appreciate your prayers, also.
hey angelsong! so glad he is on the mend!
Hello Angelsong! How are you? Great news about your Dad!
yes, me, too, Stid. it was very scary.
I am making solid progress with the first draft of my new book, which is fun.
So easy for elderly people to get dehydrated and then drink too much plain water and not get enough sodium.
oh, that is marvelous, angelsong!
i feel silly asking, but as7,28? I know it has to be an add-on to the flower... but can't see it
my first book was fewer than 200 pages, in finished form. I'm planning for 350 or so for this one in draft form
I don't have that one yet jes
HELLO
how are my Babblers tonight?
howdy, yd
yad
Hello YadNivek! How are you doing? Welcome to the puzzle

thanks for the AS 7
aaaaarrgh. THAT r. thankee, angelsong :)
the new book is a collection of household organizing tips and tricks , plus more on saving money
I nearly dumped the whole manuscript at 45 pages, Stid. it was just not coming together at all, but I persevered
a's arrested and b's bashed
go jes go!
funny how that happens sometimes, Angelsong -- how suddenly things start to come together.
