you can do it, Firefly.

locks of love firefly?
lillian - yes, it's a place to donate ponytails of 10 inches or longer and they make hair pieces (prostheses, not wigs, they stay on better than wigs) for kids with hair loss, usually due to alopecia (sp)
what a brilliant idea, and how lovely of your daughter to donate her hair
my daughter has never had more than an eensy trim to her hair, and only two of those, since birth! She's finally tired of the long hair, despite being a fan of "mermaid hair" (french braiding while wet, sleeping on it, then undoing it for the waves the next morning).
i've never heard of anything like that here
thank you lillian - it was my idea really, when she said it was time to cut it short
what fun, firefly -- well, she can grow it long again, it only takes a couple years.
it is a US based business, but I'm not sure if they would care or not about a long distance donation ;) you just would pay more in shipping it to them I suppose
yes Stid, I am hoping she isn't upset when it's done, but she's been begging to cut it for months, so maybe it's a sign she understands (like I said, her whole life she's had this long hair, never had it cut).
when my friends and i were about 14 we'd plait our hair in tiny plaits and then sleep on them and have frizzy hair the next day
Her older sister has short hair, and has always preferred it that way since about 3.
as long as you don't make a big deal of how short it is, your daughter will love the short hair. remind her how fast it will dry and how much fun it will be to watch it grow again.
When my hair is long and I braid it, it stays wet for days. *sigh* I don't mind long hair, but in our climate it's just so hard to keep clean.
lillian, indeed! We just do two french braids so it isn't too tight of a wave. :)
so. I am NBT, NBS and halfway. I should get my sorry posterior in gear and get some more work done.
lbd - her biggest concern with it long was the tangles, so hopefully that is abated with the shorter cut :)
it's pouring down with rain here and my road is now a river, i'm hoping i'm not going to get flooded.i'll have to go and put a compost bag infront of the front door.i could do with my daughter's help but she is horse riding and then stoppiong at her grandad's for the night.bbs
must go shred some taters, be back this evening to chat some more.
congrats stid, good work on the grid
bye lbd
Later LBD and all, hope you stay high and dry, lilliann
*poof*

We hardly ever go to the movies, SMom. I agree, it's too expensive. And the movies out these days are awful.

i have borrowed a few from the library to watch on tv , but don''t watch a lot of that either.. i like jeoopardy and the big bang theory and monk... but if there is a baseball game or football on, thern i go without

no, luckily. A lot of sun and the occasional flash thunder storm / rain

which sounds lovely but I seem to spend my life having eternal sunburn at the momrnt!
TO!
sometimes i wish i still lived down south, better weather normally
nice to see you! and hi all
hi TO
how are yo TO dear?
you have been having some adventures, i see
((((((ATA))))))
KATIE!!
it is SO good to see you :)
you too! how are you and your menagerie?
I don't seem to get through any week without adventures at the moment
We are all good, they are on hunger strike at the moment because I changed their bowls to match the new kitchen but I'm working on the principle they will break before me :)
How is your menagerie?
How could you!! The trauma! All well. Just changed pic to how Hobbit looks nearly every day at the moment!
still as happy a dog? and what about Sily, hoping she is still just as aloof?
nbt! and got an 8 :)
wtg Harry
yay harry
Hobbit is just as darling as ever, such a lovely dog, just getting a bit old and creaky. Sily - OMG - has turned - wait for it - into a lapcat
things are fine, ata. having a great summer, just finished the festival
yay Harry!
Hi Lillian :)
hi katie
and TO, wow it's like a reunion
*gasps* A LAP CAT!!!!!!
not long until your next holiday katie
I know!!! She sits on laps for hours!
a week tomorrow Lilliann, so excited
ooo where are you off to?
Crete Ata, still can't get my head round going to somewhere it doesn't rain ALL the time
57 left bbl :)
i could do with one, as we have to wait until boxing day. can i squeeze into your case? :)
how lovely :)
I'm sure you could Lilliann, where are you going on boxing day?
I have to wait till November
where are you going in November Ata?
never speak to soon katie, you may take the rain with you:)
back to Kenya. hurray!
true lilliann
dominican katie, we've been to jamica twice but tnever there so we thought we'd try it
fantstic :)
hey katie! shhh, i am cheating on babble at the moment
Lovely lillian, I've been a few times and loved it. We are spending Christmas in Mexico this year :)
ata...wow, we always wanted to go there and a few years ago we were going to book and then because of the trouble we went to jamaica instead
hey all! atalante???? *faint*
*whispers* I won't tell anyone TO
we were thinking about mexico and cuba but dominican was cheaper overall with the premium flight
KENYA????
See Ata you have been missed :)
hey TO
kenya is gorgeous, a friend of mine has a house by mombasa and we go over there once a year for a week of diving
hi stid :)
hi stiddy!!
sounds fantastic ata
hmph. Seems like a long way to go for a swim. But I suppose it's warm and lovely, right? :-D I am SO GLAD to see you here!
We got a great buy Lilliann but booked in January, our friends booked two days later and had to pay £1,000 more and it has now gone up another £1,000. We love the permium seats
except this year we're managing to get over there twice :)
i me4. not cheating in babble cheating on babble playing boggle bash
wow. you traveling people! I am all excited just to drive a few hours north! LOL
I first snorkled in Kenya, second only to the maldives in the places I have done it.
Twice, wow I'm having competition on the holiday stakes, mind you we have had a good year :)
I used to snorkle in the Caribbean... that was 40 years ago now. *sigh* I miss it.
we could live in jamaica katie.with hubby being self employed and working majority of the year, we can't always book early.we never get a summer holiday now because that is his busiest time. we always had 2-3 holidays a year now it's every christmas
ahhh good job you clarified, I was trying to work out how you could cheat
aye, you can't complain about my 2 trips to jamaica with all the hols you're having this year katie..lol
i can't believe a holiday went up £1000 in 2 days...it's disgusting!
lol lillian it was Ata's 2 Kenyas I was referring to but you are right we are very lucky
you can come in my suitcase stid
oh ok...lol
*packs self very very small to fit in suitcase*
but it was in Feb, and then in Nov :)
ok where is kaite going?
i wish i could go to kenya once :)
I know I felt awful, they are still coming. Seemingly we had a discount of £1000 rather than it going up, not sure how that is any different though
ata, how long is the flight for you?
Crete in a week for 10 days then Mexico for 2 weeks at Christmas
i'll take a bigger suitcase stid so you are more comfortable and pack your snorkel :)
it's about 11 hours
i wish i could snorkel now. i use to love it when i was younger
and this is after the trip to Niagara and NYC, katie!
I bet you could, lilliann -- we'll put waterwings on your wheelchair, and instead of racing stripes we'll attach little under-water propellers.
lmao stid
there are lots of diving centres who specialise foe people with disabilities, water is great and floaty
i can just imagine it now :)
I know stid. We do the pay the price in other ways because we have just had to replace the kitchen as the oven died and had to do the whole thing ourselves as we couldn't afford to get anyone in. It took us 4 weeks of evening and weekends and nearly killed us
i can swim, but i can't go under water as i can't get water in my ears as i get dizzy.ear plugs help but aren't great
Loving the image of waterwings and under-water propellers
what about a diving helmet, lilliann?
wow kaite! it seems for US travel is sky high right now if you are flying
I did want to come over to Oregon, but the flight prices are ridiculous
I know Katie -- I read of your troubles... I am dreading re-doing our kitchen. It needs it now, but I need to earn serious money before we can afford to do that.
Yes Atalante, it's crazy at the moment. Well, the next time you come, REALLY want to see you -- missed you twice in a row!
that wouldn't help as i would get pressure in my ears and head. i get dizzy flying when we take off and land because of the pressure in the plane.it is fine once we even out.
Mexico seems to have come down in price but everywhere else has gone up we do very little else other than pay for holidays lol
definitely! I'm just waiting for the stupid prices to come down!
Hi there Ata, so nice to see you!!
hi peri :) actually you're the reason I popped in today!
oh, I understand, lilliann -- unless it's a really really long way, I don't even use elevators.
I haven't checked the US prices for a while as we are not coming back until 2013
hey peri!
they make me dizzy too :)
hi peri
45 left and finding it slow going
Okay, Grant is going to help me with this first person shooter game. I am really good at moving around and finding things, but I am really awful at actually doing the shooting bits. LOL So he sits with me and when I get too flustered, he takes over.
Hi Peri
lol Stid, have a good time
back later tonight. (((Atalante))) I hope to see you again soon! *leaves lots of choclits for snacking on* *poof*
awww,Ata.
Ata,have you been to the US lately?
bye stid, tc hin
I have missed you, Ata.
I dreamt last night that you sent me a message saying to come onto Babble cos you missed me, so I thought I should :D
I would love to visit London.
:)
London has been lovely but chaotic over the last few weeks
when is the best time of year to visit Londo?
I will look into a group tour kind of thing
would need to put Zoe-Anne at the vets since no one here will look after her properly :(
not July or August as its full of Italian and French students!
is fall or spring better?
I really need a vacation.
and I just got my passport recently!!
Hmmm. I'd say either really. It's lovely at all times. Spring is gorgeous
what do you think Katie?
I will look into the company that hego has been using for travel.
you could do a trafalgar coach tour peri. if you like coaches
you see london but also other places
is a coach car or bus?
bus
ok
I'd say May or June
is that what your husband does, lil?
ok,Katie, will look into May of next year
what we call buses are different to our coaches.buses are different shapes and they are local to areas. coaches are more luxurious and travel around the country and abroad
yes peri,he drives up in scotland, sometimes london and ireland
will look into that lil
i would have said spring, as it is prettier
We could all come down and meet up :)
that would be wonderful
and Haz too
oh yes!
that would be fantastic
very!
crossy looks sadly at his dusty, hardly used U.K passport:((
have you been down for the olympics, katie?
hi crossy
howdy ata
oo 2 8s!
you'll have to come out of london so other babblers can meet you too peri. i'd love to meet you and i can't get down to london.
I will keep you posted. lil. don't know how much things will cost
hi crossy. do you still have a uk passport? i would have thought it was a canadian one now as you've lived there so long, or can you still get a british one as you were born here
We couldn't get tickets Ata, I can't get them for the paraolympics either. Hubby can't take time off in the week so we are very restricted *sigh* Did you go?
No, I didn't. Tried to avoid London to be honest, though it looked amazing
ata, is that really you?!! HELLO!! :-)
UNE :):)
yes, lillian,as i was born there,i can still renew it
I'm off to bed, don't be a stranger Ata!! Night all x
what time is it where you are Ata?
it is 4;45 pm on Wed here
sleep well, katie
sleep well katie!
its nearly 10pm
ok
goodnight kateie, sleep well and tc
*katie

My mom read to us when we were young but I was so excited when I could read by myself. I have many childhood favorites.
I submitted a book title. I think it's a great donation.
my mother told me one of her saddest days was when I told her "thank you, but now I'll read it myself" :-)
so can we do it from here une, or do you just have to live in the U.S
aww
I moved to Oregon for a few minutes :)
lilliann, i assume it doesn't make any difference . . .
ata LOL
I forgot about that Ata
you must visit the east coast next time, Ata
i know that feeling une, i was the same.i use to love reading to my daughter and she loved it when i changed my voices :)
I was one of those reading-under-the-covers- by flashlight-after- lights-out kids LOL
It asks for a city and state. I think you can just do what Ata did and put any city and state in.
me too
ooohhh, ok, yeah, surely they're not checking addresses . . .
me too une and i still do with my phone so i don't have to get out of bed and turn the light out.lol
oh ok thanks molly
LOL!!
i know cities and i know states, lets hope i can remember the city in the right state!
and I was standing at the door of our little local bookstore waiting impatiently every time a new Nancy Drew book was released! LOL
so do I Lili!
my Mom got lots of our books from a great used book store not far from our house. I cried when the stored closed.
I love the smell of old book stores

I went back to that store when I was grown. think it closed when I was in my 20'sor 30's . A very sad day. Leary's Book Store. I still have some of the books from there :)

Good evening everyone :) I managed to forget my login email today! Had to make a new account. I'm feeling silly right now!
think a perfume would sell that smelled of old books, I guess not
hey andrew, you are silly.

andre windrag lol

I will indeed, Zta
hi andrew, i did that when i went off here for a year and then opened anotherone and as soon as i opened it i remembered my old one! my daughter now uses my other one
LOL Peri!
Hopefully that'll happen to me, Lil - would be nice to have my paid account back!
en7/32 sounds like scars left in the palm of one's hands after an unpleasant procedure :-)
my favourite books were beatrix potter when i was young, were they about in the late 60's ,early 70's in the U.S?
before that, lilliann
me too andrew.the problem is, the more you think about it, you can't
loved them too :-)
great clue Une
Exactly, Lil!
and was thrilled when I found a picture of her holding her springer spaniel!
tx ata LOL
(grew up with cockers and springers)
do you like my muddy pic of holly?
mud brings such canine joy!!
I have a copy of Sylvia Plath's 'The Colossus' that has the price on it in shillings. To me, that's archaic!
i still have my box set of them all une.my favourites were mrs tiggy winkle and jemima puddle duck and now i can make cards using her pictures as a craft company near me have many craft cd roms and decoupage.i think they sell them in the US aswell now too

am off to live in the US for a few minutes :)
later, lilliann! LOL
hey all, back again.
hey, stiddy! :-)
Walked kiddo through the garden, he knows what to water while I am gone. I am just not managing to get my head around things in the office at the moment, though -- it's hot!
it is indeed HOT!
How's the hip, Stid? :)
walked the dogs about an hour ago and we got home ALL panting! LOL
It still hurts, andrew -- it's better though so I am not panicking. Whatever I tweaked when I tried to run is really angry.
aawww, sorry, stid
I just need to let it "cool down" -- and being away from home for a few days will help me do that.
Well, glad to hear it's on the mend!
me too -- why are you invisible today andrew?
um... warum bist du nicht versehen?
I don't know the word for "visible"
une, i can't get into the soar with reading, it tells me there isn't a site.
Because I'm silly - I forgot my login email! I ended up making a new account. My memory is bad!
you are far too young for that, andrew!
ooh, very nice, Stid :)
you can write to DrG and he can help you get back into your account, too.
wb stid :)
That's exactly what I said!! If I'm like this at 22, I won't have a clue of my own name by the time I'm 30.
and visible would be erkennbar ;)
:-) danke!
lilliann, is this the link you used: http://www.soarwithreading.com/donate. aspx
Lilliann...try this link... http://soarwithreading.com/

don't know why the aspx keeps rolling down to the next line
ty molly, i'll try that

:)
Gosh, sounds like you are all after such intellectual pursuits...I am sitting here watching the Celebrity Big Brother launch.
andrew, i take it you are english/british?
hardly, andrew LOL
omg, i know you are..now i remember lol i loved your icon pic
German originally, but I moved to the UK five years ago, so now I consider myself 'European' ;)
oh, thank you! :)
I am watching Grant kill (and be killed) -- he is further along in that game than I am. AND I just finished eating a large lemon muffin. I feel much calmer now...
i thought of montana because my daughter use to love hannah from montanna...miley cyrus
So, intellectual? No. fat and happy? Yes.
:-D
lol stid
aw hobbit's come to say hi
haha!
aw, is that a pet, Atalante? What an adorable name
yep, she's my silly little dog - see my pic
Oh, she's sweet! I love dogs. I have a little chihuahua, personally - just about the only dog tiny enough to fit in my little apartment!
yep. feed the birds, andrew... but don't let the dog get too close! *wicked mama grin*
aww, bless her ata
I used to be so worried when our little dog was out in the yard and the eagles were nearby. She was smart enough to hide under the front steps if need be, but I worried anyway. She was the smallest dog I ever owned, and still a lot bigger than yours.
shes a gorgeous girl, very affectionate and loyal
and muddy....
very muddy!
do eagles actually take small dogs? i remember seeing a film with ...brain freeze..her out of miss congeniality and speed and she pretended she was engaged to someone as she was canadian and didn't want to get sent back and his mam's dog got picked up by an eagle...i can see the whole film in my head but i can't remember the name
my computer is acting up I think
a hawk tried to snatch my brother-in-law's dog out of his van, so yeah, i imagine that can happen!
Yes, bald eagles will take small animals if they can.
Sandra Bullock
hey PastorJ
omg pastor j. what breed was the dog
hi stid
she was a pug
that's her stid. i always forget her name but i love her films
me too, lilliann
smallish, but fat - i don't know that the bird could have picked her up
silly dog never noticed, but steve about had a cow!
they're not that little, but bulky and hi pastor j
hi liliann
oh, it's...sandra bullock?
anyway... I should probably go think about what I am taking with me tomorrow. I still need to go into town and pick up some food that is safe for me to eat on the trip. Will be back later. ((lilliann)) see you-all again soon! *poof*
how the hell can birds carry dogs like that in their beaks and fly? saying that, i've seen the size of wild rabbits my male cat carries back in his mouth
bye stiddy!
larger birds would carry their prey in their talons
((stid)) big hugs and tc hin
still, i don't know how they could fly!
duh, memory lapse again pastor j, you're quite right
yes andrew
whoo hoo i finished my paper!
good for you jmc :)
ata is here?!?!?!
i think she's still here
i had until midnight so turning it in at 5:30 makes me feel like i am super-grad student
you'll know in a minute when she pops up for air! :)
hopes she has her oxygen tank with her
haha, well done, Jmc! I'm an awful student in that respect - essays in ten minutes before they're due, for me :)
how way jmc, you couldn't be any the worst than a super grad :)
she'll have her snorkel atleast jmc
that is usually what i do andrew because i know i can write fast. . . but the basis for this one came to me on monday so i was way ahead of the game
I'm here!
haha lill i am not very good at being a student. . .but i must admit being 60 helps the process
*boing boing boing*
I never get to see you any more ata! but i do so enjoy your pictures and stories on fb
even if i don't always understand them *giggle*
my FB has got rather marine-oriented!
haha i love it and i love the pics of the critters
what do you study, Jmc?
I do like showing people the range of stuff that's out there!
i am getting a master's in conflict transformation with a focus on advocacy
are you in school now too andrew?

a master's! you're a step ahead of me - I'm studying for a degree in literature at the moment. doing it via distance learning, because I kind of missed the boat on uni the first time round. I love it!
that reminds me i need to start on my bread n butter pickles. . . maybe tonight
lol, know what conflict transformation is andrew?? when my wife yells and me long enough and loud enough that ill admit i am wrong to anything! lol
jmc*
well i am even more than a step i confess since i already have a law degree. . . but i am enjoying going back to school with so little on the line that i can learn what i want
no that is not it crossy :-P
hehe
just messing with ya:)
that is conflict resolution because there is a result but it was not transformed! :-PP
i know crossy
yes,no pressure this time around eh jmc?
ata, my next door neighbours have their 2 granddaughters here for a few weeks and they went to a beach today and the youngest who is about 6/7 cmae over this evening to show me a dead crab that they had found in a rock pool, and it was already dead then, but she wanted it so her grandparents put it into a coffee cup. she didn't want to part with it, but it was smelling so i don't know how long it had already been dead
sounds like you're a smart lady, Jmc!
not really but it is a lot more expensive than even the prestigious private college i went to undergrad
so conflict transformation is when mrs crossy normally throws bread at him but starts throwing ballistic missiles instead?
nice grandparents
lol
awwww lili. stick it in vinegar / detergent for a day and it should stop smelling!
haha no atalante transformation is when you take the source of the conflict to a point of growth and community
it is a delicate balance ata,no winnders,no loasers, just stalemates and skirmishes over the same mound of scorched earth:) give a bbit here, take a bit there
[blush] andrew just am A personality
wow,now that is spelling at it,s finest!
your platter sounds nice crossy
andrew,we are lucky here, babble is just stuffed with smart ladies like this
ty lillian
professors,doctors,lawlers...
if i am so smart why can't i find words that start with vowels?
lawyers
everything under the sun
sounds familiar :)
lol jmc
crossy hates vowel words..think that is why gaelic appeals to me,all those cons
oh ok, thanks ata, i will tell them tomorrow.i asked her what she was going to do with it, and she said,"i'm going to put it in the bin". if i were the grand parents, i would have told her to leave it where she found it
stats for the second row 0 and i please
small kids love taking dead crabs home for some reason
crossy used to bring frogs and snakes home
but i don't know polish sausage crossy and i can see peoples minds working overtime here as in smut!! lol
they are interestingly shaped and they were alive but they don't pinch or run away. . . it help instill a sense of curiosity and a love of learning
i prefer it over kobasa because i do not like the gristle that kolbasa often has
oa5/10 and oa4/5
my pockets were always full when my boy was little and i look forward to them being full again in the no-too-near future
ty molls
oa 4 is what obama said when sworn in
my pockets and my car seem to always be full of dead marine things
*looks in mirror for crown*
Mind working overtime? Smut? Me? Never. : P
and the other is oa+ a number
i must admit ata, when i was younger we'd go to france camping every year and normally it was raining but my brother, cousins and i would always love finding crabs, dead or alive and put them in our buckets and the dead crabs we always called them dead fred
You're welcome for the stats, JMC.
if i had your job ata mine would be too. . . as it is the workers here think i am crazy because i keep pulling large rose quartz stones out of the dirt as they work
how about the i please?
today i found pieces of a willow plate and some iron and some coal
i hope they were dead crossy, not the frogs but snakes
you are right about that, Crossy...and hopefully soon I'll be able to join the ranks of babble's incredible women!
2 in 4/4's, in6/18 and in7/28
depends on the snake. . . a little grass snake never hurt anyone
mmm, ok molly, lol
ty molls
all kids at the end of marine events want to take home dead crabs and stones. saying that, most "dead crabs" arent actually dead, just bits that have been moulted
we had lots of horseshoe crab shells at the house when the boy was young. . . the drive home was sometimes a challenge
oooooo wow
they are common at rehobeth beach. . .
nbt
i use to love snakes jmc.when i was in the infants and about5/6 i had a female python around my neck,we were told she was 20 foot long and she wrapped herself around my little body with the two zoo people holding her and she was lovely and i stroked her, but when my ex husband found snakes in our compost heap and chased me arounfd the garden with one, i've never liked them since.it had a red v on its head and when a friend went through our compost heap we hads some with black and some with red v's....if i see a snake now i'm doing wheelies and leaving dust in my wake..lol
really ata,as in no bodies in the shell?
I'd dislike your exhusband, not the snake!
that was very mean of exhubby. . .i am particular about the snakes i fear. . .i fear rattlers and cottonmouths
i agree ata!
quite often, yep. They moult a full carapace so they look like dead crabs, they even moult their gills
why do you think he is my ex?? lol
good choice lill!
oh i have nbs too!
there's an nu8 and a ti8 - whats the other, does anyone know?
ac8
that is really interesting ata, i'm going to have to look crabs...the shelled variety that is :)
ac7/8
oh joy. ty!
so it is
i only got it quickly ata as i'm into crafting and card making
yw
i'd been trying to make it before and thought it was a phantom
artificial but real
Good morning everyone. We have a newcomer?
lyn!!
did you know ankhorite on babble, jmc?
:-D
hi lyn
Hello - how lovely to see you. How is everything?
lol lillian, snakes were alive and kicking, big pale milk snakes and 2-3 foot garter snakes..i think i aged my mother 5 years with them
i met ankhorite once or twice. . but didn't know well

Hobbit is constantly muddy and Sily is very snuggly :) And Stewart?
Hi everyone

howdy seaspray
hi seaspray
very flattering ata. . .she was clearly a brilliant woman
hi sea
and so young!
I think more than most of us realised
she was still fairly young:(
Stew is fairly well...arthritis (already!) has slowed him down but are able to keep on top of it. Sily snuggly, thats a bit of a change isn't it?
she's turned into a lapkitty!
very forward of her
aw. . . lapkitties can be nice. . .
she does lapkitty then jumps off and pretends she hasn't done any such thing :)
haha
oh lord i gots to go to the pb . . . see comment at 5:20 re lill's ex
*everyone looks back*
'cottonmouths' - no thats OK
no-one noticed jmc...you should have kept quiet..lol
although i have to say i noticed when i was looking for the time of the message lots of people including crossy used that word and didn't fess up!
*polishes halo*
I never notice 4s
i have to since it is so hard for me to find anything longer! haha
i don't even know what word you've used and i've looked back :)

ty lynx

thanks for the mob word
poo - just found fa6.30
oh ty lynxxx
hiya Stid
ty lynx
53
:)
hey lynxxx!
this is how bad my memory is and how sad my life is, i now have to tell my 12 year old bairn what my passwords are on certain things, as in games, not private stuff as i'd more mortified forgetting them than my personal things! how bad is that!
latin poop even:)
well, I am not sure why I wandered back in, though I am glad to see andrew properly attired... ;-)
haha, thanks Stid! does feel good to be nicely dressed again...
wb stid :)
lillian, put all your passwords on a flash key and keep it on a string round your neck or on your key fob
and password the flash key with a easy to remember pw
i created a list in yahoo under my name in contacts. . . it all runs together and most is in a code only i would understand like homeaa so that no matter where i am and how long it has been i can find my password
the list has gotten really long
anyway, down to 45 and for some reason feeling all at the same time restless and lazy. Maybe I need protein. I think I'll wander off again and try to find something substantial. I STILL have to pack for tomorrow... *sigh*
i use the same password for everything, but add a dynamic number at the end
50. off to list.
aye ok crossy.i won 't sleep with anything around my neck as when i was 17 i got strangled and i put the keys in a certtain place every day but then the bairn will move them and put them somewhere different and when hubby is home he moves keys and can't remember where he put them
I'll see you all again in a little bit, I am sure. I am using Babble as an excuse to avoid everything else. *poof*
flash key - good idea - I am sick of forgetting password
bye stid.x
lol lillian, tie the flash key to a cinder block and keep it by your desk
bye Stiddy
i have three different password basic passwords with variations
bye stid
cinder block, is that a brick?
I keep all my passwords written down on my computer - good luck if anyone wants to steal from me, because I have noooothing :D
i have 3 different passwords for things but i can't always remember which one i have for what account :(
so i end up having to change them all
it is larger and has a hole in the middle http://tinyurl.com/8f94y4x
flash key?
a large brick:)
oh my,
usually you are only frozen out on the third try so having 3 should work
it is a "key" that you can load stuff on that plugs into your computers usb ports
no, because sometimes i get them all back to front and mixed up!
also called a usb or flash drive
oh a usb
indeed
think of a name and put a number in the middle and a punctuation mark at the end and then use it
well why couldn't you say that in the fiorst place crossy...being english/canadian :)
then when a pw escapes you just plug the key in c+p the one you need and you are all set
so like: eloise=>elo9ise!
i call them flash keys,my bad
omg, jmc, that, i definitely wouldn't remember
you do, it becomes easy after a while! I do a simialr thing
but make it a name you would remember but other's would think about like your mother's name
lillian, wish i was there for you,in 30 min i would have you using that computer like a pro, have it all tuned up and all your pw,s set up for you
Help with ex6 please
or your childhood best friend
hi luv
luvb - directions in a play script
Hello
it has to be something personal to me and then a number i will remember...i won't ata, i have problems with my memory which is why i play this and other word games to try and keep my memory healthy..if you like

I'm off too. 20 left. not too bad!
bye jmc, tc hin
it is vastly improved.sadly as any chemo patient will tell you,the mind is never qui8te the same afterwards, especially if you hard intense chemo
Bye Ata!
ata, 1st time in a year and you're going to leave 20?
it's been great to see you again ata and hobbit.sweet dreams and tc
but, believe it or not,i am a beter person.i used to be a overwound type a,5 espresso a day asshole.during my cancers i learned what is really important and also learned not to sweat the small stuff, because it can all be taken away in a heartbeat and one bad blood test
but i will not rehash that old tale
my wife and i are closer than ever and she is the staff that i lean on when i falter and my son is the best part of me;)
i take my hat off to you crossy. i've never had cancer,my cousin who is 18 months younger than me had breast cancer so i can't say i know what it's like.i have different problems which isn't an illness so i feel guilty saying the problems i have as i've never had to fight for my life
i best dive in and find some words..sploosh
i'm glad you have such a loving and caring family crossy, from all the stories, you all deserve eachother
never feel guilty,we all have mountains to climg and deamons to wrestle with,my pain or happiness is not any more or less than yours..we adapt we overcome and we are tempered and stronger than we were before
climb
i've also learnt, life is not what i expected it to be, and i live one day at a time and never look too far ahead as life can change at a blink of an eye
we live for today and love for today and try not to agonize ove tomorrow as a millin things can happen between now and then and we must wring all the joy out of the now that we can and to let the past be as it is finished,it can teach us but it is done
snap
:)
you are channeling me or i am channeling you:)
and done - See you all later, bye
your mind is not dull,it is sharp and see,s the important things in life lillian
tc laynxx
wtg lyn! bye and tc
the problem is i remember the important things in life but forget what they have said/done
i see you are young 43,we must train our minds, exercise them, read more, watch tv less, explore life learn all those tidbits..that reminds me..brb
and now it is time for crossys tidbit of the day!!!
The Taj Mahal was orignally called the Rauza-I Munavvara which means "Tomb of Light."
i never knew that crossy :) i'll forget in 5 minutes :)
then i will be here every day to give you a tidbit to enjoy for the moment and to have fun with
i read loads crossy but then i have to re-read a book as i forget alot of it.when people here say it's a babblet, and i know the 1st two letters, i still can't get it.theres times i'll say ty but i haven't got the word, but i'm embarrassed because i know i should know it
that way you will be delighted every day without having to worry about remembering details;0
i do that loads of times through my life
i have read books many, many times over
i like your tidbits every day if i see them when i'm on crossy but truthfully i can't remember any of them :(
then you are fortunate lillina, put a posative spin on it,every books is a new adventure, every sunset a new wonder.your loved ones will fill in the blanks and then you are content
people will say things to me on here from things i've said and i can't remember what i've said, and that could be 10 minutes ago to a day, a few days, weeks, months etc, i write things down to hwlp me but then i forget where i've put them. i normally put them in one place and then the bairn and hubby when he's home movves them and complains about all the paper :)
i also am not destined to be the library of the details of my family
I am very similar Lilli! But oh well..
i keep a pad on the desk and a pad on the fridge to write reminder notes, and have a special folder outlining all household paperwork and appts
my family get annoyed with me, as they are sick of repeating things or i've lost things and it's like "give us a clue with me"
hi red, i think you are alot better than me.you've got a great job and a fantastic nurse
there is a free program for the computer lillian.it is post it note for the computer, they may help
i had a pad by the computor but then it gets used and moved by the bairn
it will remind you of all sorts of things
oh god, i'm noit good with computors and will forget how to use it crossy
Can't be organised with young ones around, Lil :)
well then we will all be here to help you as much as you need;) the babble family
i get embarrassed and when i can't clue on here because i can't remember a word i don't clue and then there are times i start chatting and forget words and then delete it all.
there are times that i feel really thick, but know i'm not and i get upset as i'm not the person i was, mentally and physically!
ty crossy.tomorrow, i'll forget that we had this conversation...i'll remember bits but not everything you said or i said
you will never be ridiculed here, ever
does any1 please have a clue for the te6/7?
not yet harry, sorry
sorry harry
will look now
Lilli, none of us are really the people we were at one point, or the people we recall being, which may or may not be an accurate memory!
too true, Red. Personally, I live a real double life, so I think it's very important to be the person you are, rather than the person you were.
yes...and really no one wants to hear all about how great you used to be, they want to enjoy you for how great you are now..
hear hear! as we all do enjoy you :)
we do indeed
live for the now
I like you all as well!
Oh its a big love fest in here tonight.
caannnn you feeel the lovve tonight....
yes, we're certainly all special snowflakes tonight :P
Well, what can I say. I did have a very nice date this week, and then work went nuts.
got them. done!
CONGRATS Harry Hood.
Well, over half done and time to fix a quick supper. Tomorrow morning stidmama and I head North for the Babblefest with our BC friends (that's British Colombia, not BC as in older than dirt.)
Hello stidgm..
Hi redturtle, crossy and harry who has fireworks, Congrats.
Ooo, zeroes in on chat mention of interest. Red, you had a nice date? Wonderful.
ty all, that is so sweet, but i still feel guilty for my daughter as i can't do so many things with her now and i wanted to show her how to do many things.i will never get over the guilt for that as i chose to have the ? from the doctors at the hospital

red, you had a date. how did it go?
hi christine, ty, just a shame i have those words :)
13 left and monkeys have given up :(
Awww, how ya doin' Liliann?
fine thanks christine.you?
how long have you lived in LA ?
52 years i January, although for about ten months (in 1962) I lived in San Francisco - weather was too much like London.
you obviously like LA then :) so you lived in london? tell me to mind my own business if i'm asking too many questions
Hi Molly, sorry I got distracted, I had a very nice date. Kind of a surprise.
I was born in London, and lived there until afortnight after my 24th birthday. I came to US for a year (had a job waiting in Australia) and just loved it here. My kind of weather.
clue for the X word???
XE 5/20 - flower
thanks!
good evening all
hi teach
Good for you Red. Surprises are nice. : )
hi lilli
yes, well, we will see.
xe flower ends like the zin flower does
ahhh, got it now!
i'm glad you you settled where you were happy christine:)
i gre up in south london
*grew
i hope things go well with you red
apparently xe is also a city in west ohio, not that i would know it :)
I grew up in Clapton, then we moved to Hackney. I miss London, but not the weather. I have two sisters, one with her family in London, the other with her family in NZ, so we're blessed to have the computers.
can i ask all my american/canadian friends, what is a chicken pot pie? is it chicken with pastry on top?
yumm .. yes it is, with some veggies - peas and such, and a creamy white gravy. Just what would hit the spot, right now.
i lived near croydon.do you get to see your sisters much christine or their familiess?
so do they cook it in one big pot christine as in deep and then pastry on top(short crust)?
Judith, in NZ sometimes visits, on her way to or from London. My sister in London I last saw when I went home for my Mum's funeral. I'm hoping to have a hip replacement, and another knee replacement, in the next year, then I hope to be mobile, enough to go home in 2014.
sounds lovely, i could just eat some now with some home grown new potatoes, asparagus, green beans and carrots
sorry about your mam and i hope all goes well with your knee and hip replacements so you can visit your sister.
Chicken pot pie is prepared in a pie pan. Crust on the bottom, chicken, peas, carrots, potatoes and chicken gravy inside and crust on the top. It's considered comfort food by many.
oh ok thanks molly. we would just call that a chicken pie.we cook pies on plates with the pastrie top and bottom or in foil trays.if i was cooking a puff pastry pie then i have deep ceramic dishes and cook the filling and then place the puff pastry on top and put ion oven to puff. i like cheese, onion and bacon pie(short crust pastry) my mam always cooked it for us when we were younger. it's nice hot or cold
yummy!! #1 son has requested my home-made mac and cheese tonight. :-)
we wouldn't normally put potatoes in pies. peas and sweetcorn we do
sound nice jill, now i'm hungry and it has gone 1am here, so i can't eat :(
don't use potatoes either - also i don't like a bottom crust, just use a top crust and make it in a casserole dish - also make it with dumplings on top (#1 sons favorite)
do you just have one type of pastry, as in short crust or do you use puff pasty aswell?
i must admit teach, i prefer just pastry top whatever pastry. i love stew and dumplings, i must admit i make a wicked stew
maybe because i don't think i make good crusts i only like one crust - but even with fruit pies i will scrape the fruit off the bottom crust and leave it
The term "pot pie" actually came from the British and was continued here by American colonists. It's generally made from standard pie crust and not puff pastry, but as you can see from responses here, people improvise.
what do you do with your stew
if i have dumplings i have to make a stew, which is cubed beef, pearl barley, dried peas and lentils, sprouts, chopped carrots, cubed swede,(hubby) likes cubed potatoes and i add a big spoonful of marmite, balsamic vinegar, worcester sauce ,beef oxo cubes and water
do you use all three - dried peas, barley and lentils (i have used one or the other but not all three) - and what is marmite may i ask
let it cook in oven or on top of hobb for a couple of hours until the meat is falling apart and then put dumplings ontop for 20 minutes until cooked.you might havr to keep adding water as the pearl barley soaks it up, but then i'll add a bit more worcester sauce, water and some more marmite
yes, i use all 3, we get them in a pack here, it's called a broth mix, which up north where i live the broth mix is used with gammon and cooked slowly for a couple of hours
marmite is similar to vegemite
*Wonders if Lilliann thinks I forgot about mushy peas*
it's a beefy yeast extract
i hate mushy peas
pffftttt molly :)
bovril is similar, and i hate that too
teach, it will be the same as pot pie, people will cook and add different things to their stews
i'm throwing mushy peas at molly as we speak :)
Ooo, it's like The Exorcist in here.
Oh wow, we wanted our chapliain to exorcise a patient today.
lol molly, carrots and dried lentils are following
really red?
Well, yes, if it would have worked.
hi all...back for a bit...
Massive doses of Thorazine weren't working?
i take it, it didn't then
hi champ
Hi. I see we're cooking...sounds yummy!
Could not give that pt any meds...yo know we dont use thorasine too much any more, if at all ! LOL....
I had a friend tell me just the other day that he thought he had been in the presence of a demon. he was still freaked about it.
I have 54 left and am struggling, am I having a problem?
I have 60
Really? You don't sedate over agitated patients?
not surprising champ, why did he think there was a demon by him?
with certain heart conditions, we can not sedate because it will exacerbate the heart problem, so the pt got to be agitated, its rare, but it does happen...
I didn't get to hear the whole story. We have a date to catch up. He went and prayed with some friends, and felt better after that. Sounds scary!
that does sound scary Champ. I can not even imagine.
I know!
well, aslong as he feels safer now, that's the main thing
Agreed. he's a great guy. He "died" of a heart attack, saw the light, the whole nine yards, several years ago. He didn't get spiritual till a few years after that. So I believe he's sincere.
Is anyone having any better luck with the bottom N than I am? I have a whopping 1/4.
I have No N.
have 4/4 - but will need to sort out where the Ns came from - will check
when i worked in a pychiatric hospital when i was 17 one of our porters died and came back and he said the same, he saw a light and fields of flowers and wanted to go further in but chose to come back
Terry just told me that he has no fear of dying at all. So nice!
nu6 is a brazil or almond and consumed
I think anyone who would share that seriously would be afraid and not kidding because we know people will think that you are nuts.
thanks lillian! I also have one that has to do with a number....

Hello all....dawg, stiddy,champfit..
Oh..and RED!!
Hi jillyjill!
hi jilly.
maybe WT too?
I'm trying to go to bed..very tired and really stuck on Shark week!
we're recording it
i dont do any recording, just been a very hectic week...and theres more left!
but I will go in a few mins...
Actually have had a slow week for once. One doc had surgery, several cancelles...worked Monday nothing last two days, but busy next two..
jealous. 2 big meetings, one angry MD, a CDC sumission deadline that involves reimbursement and that was a bit "iffy"....and my "hot date" man, Next week will seem easier.
Hi Everybody. How are you today?
hello nef, how are you?
Hi there, Nef. Are you doing well?
hi Jilly, Nef and peach
Hey (((NEF)))
Hey there, lbdawger.
And Jilly jill.
Hi there GA!
peach has returned!
I'm having a rare evening to myself today. We've had our grandson for over a month now and my daughter took him tonight down to her college roommate's place to play with roomie;'s slittle boy (who's about 6-8 months younger).
Nice! How is DH?
Hi peach; red, jilly, lbd and all.
Tis I, indeed. Ifeel so much better now.
sounds great..
Yay, good to hear GA
Red, how you doin?
DH is "stable" but he hit a "temporary sign" today with the car and scraped the side of it up (including the roof side!)
oh no!
Ouch.....
sorry, phone...brb
Aw, sorry to hear that.
DIL is not doing well at all. She needs in-patient long term treatment for her mental issues; that's why we have the grandson.
(she's not in the hospital yet; has had 4 admissions to psych units in 7 weeks; but hospitals seem to just stabilize and discharge mental health patients these days.....
very good of you to have your grandson Nef.
Oh, Nef. I am sorry. I will put her on my prayer list.
is she getting the help she needs, Nef?
oh, slow to respond, must read all chat before hitting enter.
that's so difficult. sorry to hear of it Nef.
not much for long term care any more. pill them and get them out since insurance doesn't cover much of the bill.
thanks peach. Lbd, she isn't getting the help she needs yet; but at least she IS trying to get help now. (She was supposed to see her psychiatrist today; I haven't asked yet how that went
How are all of YOU doing these days? I don't go online when Ronnie's here and awake, and I fall asleep after a day of chasing him so haven't been around much
Sorry to hear Nef...we're dealing with a s-i-l dealing with mental health issues....
and back one. more. time. *determined mama look*
back
here to clue if needed stid
(((Jilly)))
hi nef! *waves*
hi stid and jmc!
*waves back at jmc*
need to check blood sugar.....bbs
(((Nef))) read chog my heart goes to you and your family
BTW, I've tried to play Words with Friends today and it won't work for me; Igot 1 word in all day.
words has been temperamental the last couple times I tried to play
red do tell about hot man date
i was just playing words with friends and it was okay except my computer freezes from time to time with it and other games
mental health is still seen as distinct from physical health - this somewhat amazes me as a MDD person myself.
good to know, stid; I thought it was just me.
MDD?
major depressive disorder
nef you are a saint. . . first your DH and then the aunt and now the grandson? when does Nef had time for herself?
hot man date? who where when? deets!
i'm a bit behind the conversation here as my connection went down briefly
ah ty and pardon if it was rude of me to ask. . .i suffer from depression but i suspect it is not major since i taught myself coping mechanism
HI shirl!
hi shirl that is what i want to know! red fess up please
mine doesn't work that way. oh yes, hot men!
hi shirl, hi JMC and hi MAB
i have no shame -- i live vicariously thru others
i'd be satisfied with just one.
omg, are you my doppleganger, shirl?
hot men???? WHERE?????
oh no! I feel a riot about to break out!
*starts looking in cupboard for red* yohoooooo reeeeed!
i'm too tired to have to chase anything
Hot men do nothing for me .... may a bag of ice?
she better not have gone to bed and left us hanging here waiting on this!
i would stand still if a hot man chased after me
it's a sad world out there for single women
hiya BR! posted a new rose in my profile.
Reeeeeeeeee-eeeed, oh Reeeee-eeeed
*gives BR a 10 # bag of ice* will that do?
Red, calling Red....details...
brb
who can look at who's online? i have been blocked from it for about a year now
and done...
she's not online anymore! :-(
I am not a hot man .... was thinking of cooling down the ones the women here have hormonal overload for
alas, Red not online
Nef, prayers out for your daughter and grandson.
blocked? how very odd. or did you abuse the who's online feature, jmc?
how does one get blocked from that, jmc?
how about a lukewarm guy?
dang! that's no fair sneaking in a comment about a hot date and then leaving
no clue. . . i can't go to who's online or my friends.
a warm, tender, lovely man would be nice.
my mistake BR. . . you can pass the ice around the room and i will pour some cold earl gray tea. . .
actually JM ..we're not really here...
with a sense of humor, or course.
well that lets out ru. . .
bible: So, because you are lukewarm--neither hot nor cold--I am about to spit you out of my mouth.
i've done the online thing
besides the fact he's married
a great quote for explaining passion
well if you are not really here then i have a wonderful imagination!
and they all want to chat/email before meeting in person -- call me shallow, but i want to get the meeting over with BEFORE i invest the online time
that you do jm... run with it
i just think you can talk/chat online forever and if there's no chemistry, then why bother?
I agree, mine time is valuable
i did it a few times too. . . but i spend so much time making things up in the chog i really don't have time to make chit-chat with someone on a dating service
If one has no passion for life, why bother?
well think of it this way shirl. . . think of the relationships you built here. . .was that a waste of time?
right, so why should i invest the time with you virtually if in the end we have no chemistry? which we'd know ONLY if we meet face to face
i would say you should bother because sometimes passion will return. i am reminded of the all the bleak times in mother teresa's diaries
you don't feel like you know any of us well enough?
I loved that book jmc...really helped me through dark time to know she struggled too..
the few times i did, invest the time online, have been burned as the person in person was NOT what he said online
i ought to read that.
*giggles*
what
what giggles
Scoop...earlier, Red said it was a nice date, that she was surprised by that and "we'll see where it goes". That is all I know.
well when i first became a quaker i read a diary of a well-known quaker woman who talked about all the times she felt nothing and spoke anyway. . . she talked about how after time the passion came back
Oh, maybe I should hire mother teresa. My treatment team tells me maybe I need to accept I will not get better.
shirl's comment mab.. not yours
ty molls
well BR i spend a lot of time in meeting for worship meditating over the serenity prayer
i think she is dead, br.
i suppose i am not as much fun in person as i rarely wear foil caps and shake my booty in the nude
I like being agitated
I'm more creative that way
dead .... could do worse
how odd of a tx team.
I agree with Shirl, people should be very careful about meeting people in person that they have "met" on line. A brief meeting at first to test the water is the best way. Never, ever, make a first meeting any longer than that.
i was referring to her diaries which were published after her death
coffee in starbucks that's the best first meeting
I don't meet people at coffee houses anymore...for good reason
what happened ruru?
well i flew out to portland and stayed with a woman i met on line doing counseling for returned PTSD vets and got picked up by pinikula and drove to olympia and stayed in a hotel with jilli pini and who? flosey?
hahahahaha ru has coffeehouseaphobia
lattephobia
I want to know who he met in one! ;-)
Always be sure if you are going to meet in a coffee house that it's with someone who knows how to dial your phone number.
ROFL LMAO
Gotta be a good story there ru...
<---gasping for breath
lattevillaphobia
ru and kje were suppose to meet at a coffee house and depending on who you believe one of them screwed it up or both of them did
ruru must be down for the count!
he stood KJE up at a coffee house, didn't he?
villalattephobia has a better ring
uh.. jmc.. and who was AT the coffee shop and WHO wasn't?
villattephobia?
Oh man, HE stood HER up? Since when is that the story?
i am not taking sides ru. . . i want to meet you both next time i am in SF
lbd is delusional..
oh, got it wrong, he got left behind at the coffee house
take it from me jm.. let's not do a coffee shop.. or it will just be us twp
two
now a good donut shop or pie shop! i'd be sure to be there.
screw.. that..we'll meet at a bar.. I'll buy the Jack
twp? the washington post? township?
have you still not met kje, ru?
we have lousy donut shops here
How about gin?
no Mab.. not yet..
see shirl there is a man that knows me already! hahaha
should be simpler -- donuts or pie and I'd be tempted to linger
and a bad meeting would ruin the pastry
can't have ruined pastry experience
or sushi...a good sushi place with all you can eat...i'd be there forever!
i do eclair you're right shirl
well after her orientation meeting maybe y'all can get together
lol ruru
and it wouldn't matter if he didn't show up or it turned out bad.
i do nut want bad donuts
sushi is good fish bait
terrible to have a tart conversation you can't leave
I wouldn't show up at a sushi place either.
a sushi place could be fishy
I would like to have my cake and eat it too however
*sigh* i may never meet ruru. :-(
I hate sushi.. (sides with BR)
lbd you will have to retire some day! then i will drive to your town and pick you up and we will go to SF together
Love sushi!!
I will never understand why people eat raw fish.
raw fish in cerviche is my favorite fish
i do like sushi too
First sushi nearly 40 years ago....
I imagine they flounder around it
good sushi isn't fishy, and the texture is buttery. but it is an acquired taste and sensation.
Beautiful roses, lbd
then lbd if we are having a good time we will drive north to oregon and olympia and maybe even canada
yeah if you're a grizzly bear
these food puns are making me hungry
holy makeral ru!
i have another one i want to take a picture of, but today the sun was in the wrong position. will try again tomorrow. hopefully it wont be dead.
<--- imagines LBD smacking a raw salmon on the rocks
A grizzly bear, or Gollum.
if i ever return to dc to live, as i intend to do, we must meet, jmc. maybe i could do volunteer work for your organization.
*hoping jmc and lbd will pick me up on their way*
ROFL molly
i love salmon sushi!
you'd be on the way, Jilly
sure jilly the more the merrier (and the more people to share the gasoline tab!)
favorite is unagi...second maguro
i love salmon anyway
love maguro! had the best in Denver last november.
salmon is good almost any way it's prepared.
We could take my hybrid Fusion jmc...
that would be great mab! that assumes, of course, i get this thing really up and running. . .this week i sent the forms to the irs
my brother used to give me unagi's all the time when we were kids
i don't like smoked salmon. at least the stuff i've had was too salty and couldn't taste the salmon.
that is probably the responsible thing to do jilly but my saab is more fun
lox? oh my, i love lox.
I agree...except for cream cheese and lox!!
nooooo a saaaab?
I like rutabaga, horseradish and peanut butter on wafers
properly smoked salmon is great. . . too bad yours was overly smoked and salty
<leaves to puke
lox is different. it's not salty nor is it smokey. thinly sliced with a slice of bagel.
over the saab?
that actually sounds good BR i am very found of lettuce, tomato, mayonnaise and peanut butter sandwiches
Stuffed to the gills from dinner and this conversation is making me HUNGRY!!
lox, smoked salmon - same, no!
no, mab.
ru you know i have a saab. . . it was my icon for a while and i call it my ticket me red car
i meant to use ?
what about a jewish deli.. that also trades in the market and has wine.. Lox, stocks, and barrels
Is lox something goldie left behind?
my fav is peanutbutter/grilled cheese on rye. Comfort food......
haha
ROFL..ruru you outdid yourself
how do you get a ticket in the saab when they have to be towed all the time to the repair shop?
nice pida i have never tried that . . . now i have two different things to try
mine has not been repaired for more than 3 years. . . only oils changes
oh dear, ru has opinions on everything.
LOL
sorry
well to be fair i could have had it repaired. . .
my wife had a saab.. and it spent more time in the shop than on the road
but i used binder clips to hold up the underplate and saved a fortune
the saab is of scandinavian origin?
i had a friend who had a jag like that
all the tow truck drivers new her by her first name
knew
the saab is a scandinavian car that has sadly gone out of business
i have no car at all. it's terribly sad.
(for good reason)
Okay, my time for unusual combos....I love taking garden fresh tomatoes, and onions, chop them up and mix them in cottage cheese....
I had my favorite car for 21 years and would have kept it longer if I had not had to search salvage yards for parts ..... 70,000 miles on it
it has gone out of business for the same reason it is safe from being stolen. . . no one knows how to drive a stick anymore
she got it repaired once and got it 3 minutes from the repair shop and it blew up again
only 70,000 miles???? in 21 years?
my car was about that old when I donated it to charity.
I can drive a stick jmc....I can help drive!!
what kind of car was it?
whoa BR
yay jilly!
my car has 140,000 in 5 years
i prefer manual over automatic hugely
P would rather drive a car than a stick
BR is a clutch hitter
well i do have a broom that's not a bad ride, br
oldsmobile toronada trofeo
when i was in texas i did about 1,000 per week if i didnt go anywhere. . . now i only do about 1,000 a month even going to school
very cool BR . . . a bit of a gas guzzler these days but if you drove it that little it probably didn't matter
i wouldn
*thinks about looking for a word in the grid*
I wouldn't turn down any car actually. if someone wanted to give me one, that is
i love manual shifts. I wish the jeep had a stick. save on gas!
my sister says all the studies show that automatics are more cost effective but i don't believe it
Just heard from uusue, she's about 6 hours out and myself and harp should be able to meet up tomorrow!!
my jeep is a 98 got it off the lot with 6 miles on it. it now has 75+k miles on it.
that's so neat jj...
I'd love to meet more babble people
yay! give her a wave from all of us
Got over twenty on the highway about fourteen in town and averaged less than 3,400 a year
All the cars and trucks we've owned were sticks up until the Fusion hybrid
give her my best, Jilly. wish i could be with you all tomorrow.
i don't think that's true today jmc.
which mab?
So do I dawg!
that manuals are more cost effective
i prefer them, but i think the technology on either kind of transmission is roughly comparable
well when the transmission is shot it is cheaper to fix a manual if nothing else. . .and in an emergency you have more control over the car. . .AND (and to me most important) they are more fun to drive
i quite agree
definitley more fun to drive! had a 64 mustang and boy howdy, that baby was fun!
when i can't drive a stick anymore i will quit driving
dang i would have given my eye teeth for a 64 1/2 mustang
somewhat tiresome in city driving however
but had about 8 miles per gallon mileage
I had a '68 Fiat spider...used to clutch start it...lived on a hill...lol brings back memories
Bankrate says, "No." For the average driver under the average conditions, there is little difference. For drivers in everyday situations, a manual transmission is not likely to provide any difference in fuel economy over an automatic transmission. The reason is that to achieve the optimum fuel efficiency a driver has to execute shifts at precise engine rpms (revolutions per minute). Given the challenges of city driving conditions, most drivers won't be able to realize greater fuel economy with a manual gearbox. One consideration, however, is that usually an automatic transmission costs extra, which could factor into the buying decision. On the flip side, the majority of new vehicles aren't even offered with a manual transmission.
i cried when my dad sold it. practically gave it away! boooo hooooo
mustangs are worth a fortune now
it doesn't bother me to drive in the city
ty BR that means my sister is wrong. . .she said that automatics are more fuel efficient so i can drive my manual guilt free
the ones that escape the glue factory?
that's because your license plate says DIE!.. and people get out of your way jm...lol
taught my boy to drive a stick on a hideous 1983 baby blue convertible mustang
I think manuals last longer...my 92 Blazer had 200,000 miles on it!
my license plate says taxation without representation!
One son can drive manual and has one, second son just couldn't get the hang of it...he could drive one in an emergency...but I doubt he ever owns one...
my toyota corolla had over 100,000 on it. loved that little beasty. didn't know it was a 4 cylander, and could go places 4 wheelers couldn't get to.
the olds has an automatic that I never had a problem with over the 21 years
I've even driven in left side of the road countries - manual
so often it is the driver with that lbd. . . my boy was using his jeep to tow ambulances out of snow drift during one blizzard
i bet you treated that olds like a cherished lover, BR
that probably had more to do with maintaining it and not driving more than 100,000 miles BR
the engine had many more miles to give
its good when you find a car that suits you. . .
BRB...
I know a bit about cars ..... am ignoring the naysayers
time to adios
keeping good maintenance on a vehicle is imperative to it running well. I hate to spend the mega bucks, but I also can't afford to buy a new car.
have a good night, BR
bye br
bye BR. . . good to have you around tonight
1/2 way. . .i think i am going to go read anita loos. . . gentlemen marry brunettes
night all
sweet sleeps, jmc. i'm off to the pillows too. hope to see you all tomorrow!
Niters jmc...
well, the time is late for me getting up early...will depart for pillow time...BIG exciting day tomorrow!!
Dawg, sure wish you could join us... *poof*
