32 to go but may have to leave soon - heading east tomorrow and still need to pack bags, finish organising food, visit mum, feed the troops tonight, freshen bed and so on...
entering chog very quietly, emotionally fragile today. PLEASE don't ask why, just accept. i will be better in a couple of days. but work wiped me out, physically as well.
wow... lots of chores
hi granny; gentle hugs for you
hugs rose
thanx dee and flosey
I love driving to the other side of the country (she says sarcastically) - other people think it is a holiday
*smiling* one could say i have been sn6ing for 3 days.
Hi rose - sorry to hear you are poorly
unless someone walks in our shoes; they just don't get it
hopefully you aren't in physical pain, rose
anike, would never call that a holiday....that word says you don't have to work, and i know how much it takes for you to ferry adam and the gear around.
ditto that
25 left.. stalled now
umm, dee, knee stiffened right up. am actually looking forward to hydro tomorrow, at least that will loosen it again. and how i am feeling doesn't really lend itself to getting on an exercise bike.
Thanks Rose. This could be the last trip of the year - unless we do historic nationals in November. Have just booked Phillip Island accommodation for world supers so the merry-go-round starts again (providing he can get some finance - has had some good support this year)
be patient; my cleaning helper has had both of her knees replaced; be patient but perseverant in your therapy, and you WILL get rid of all of that

morning everyone
sorry i mssed you anike. and 'morning katie
hope you are well granny
okay, i'm not being very good at this catch up game tonight. totally my fault...i keep meandering off and doing something else.
oh!!! you are there, katie. emotionally a little on the unstable side, just weepy. physically, knee stiff after doing 3 shifts this week.
have joined a support group, and found out all is 'normal' for following such major surgery. i just have to ride it out. Don is being so wonderfully supportive.
Oh no granny I'm sorry to hear that. I know what you mean about meandering off I'm always doing it. I just hope people don't think I am just rude, scatty but not deliberately rude.
nah, katie, never that.
can't sleep, back for a few more words
Hi Flosey
going to see my local doctor tomorrow, hopefully put an action plan in place, re work, analgesia, exercises, etc
I need to get ready for Church soon. I haven't been for 2 weeks as I was on holiday and I'm duty warden today so I need to put a bit of effort in
naughty flosey, now you get back in that lovely warm, comfy bed, and lie there and think of england. lol
Rose, and Katie, neither of you could be rude, we can all be a bit scattered at times,
Lets hope they can get something sorted which will help you granny
Thanks flosey :)
and Rose, we all do understand how your emotions can play on you with all you've been through
nice to have friends like flosey, isn't it katie?
you've supported so many of us over time rose
It certainly is :)
don't what i did without all you guys and gals. you have to be the most remarkable chog i have ever been in.
it is a great group of friends, isn't it, have never seen sugh support in computer games, etc
**such support
my own take on what is happening...the last of the anaesthetic drugs are leaving my liver...hence my weakened emotional state. as i said i just have to ride it out. and i can take the extra time off work...have the paid hours there.
years ago when I split with my long term partner and started to l**e on my own for the first time it was the chog which helped me through on many a late night. and then were with me through meeting hubby and the wedding, I feel like it has been a big part of mylife
Are work being supportive?
I think I joined about the time of your wedding, Katie
morning not here for long my imogens birthday today :)
Happy birthday to Imogen :)
if you have time you can take off, rose, sounds like a good time to take it
to my face they are....like my immediate colleagues are wonderful, more friends if you know what i mean. as for the hierarchy, well anything goes. but they aren't gonna get away with pushing me around..
Happy Birthday to imogen, and you enjoy too sarah
Yeah I used to be KatieW but Dr God managed to change it for me when I was on honeymoon :)
thank you she now 8 god know were time has gone
sarah, hugs, hun. and imogen is how old?
oh, i see, 8...such a vulnerable age, believe it or not, i remember 8 very well. hope she has a lovely day, sarah.
I think that is the best way Granny, when I went back my friends were great but some people at my level obviously thought that stress was catching and treated me like I was contagious where as the hierarchy were terrified of me and couldn't have been nicer
we waitting for mum to come :)
and hugs granny x
oohhh, a granny on the scene....that makes it so much more special.
yes and mum was with me when i had imogen :)
i remember my nanna being there for my birthdays...it ALWAYS made it extra special for me.
I'm really sorry to dash I'm going to be late if I don't make a move. Have a good day to sarah, hope you get some sleep soon flosey and let's hope the doctors help with you continued recovery granny
bye katie x
i'm fortunate, sarah, my work colleagues have been so supportive through the last 14 months per-op.
thanks Katie,
thanx katie, hope you have a wonderful day
how you feel today granny ?
hi and bye Katie
bye Mari, I'll let you know how the technology goes lol
sarah, emotionally unstable, but Don is such a wonderful hubby. just keeps hugging me, and wiping my tears away.
have a spare hymn book in case!!
bless him hugh hugs all way from uk hun xx
it's like a mini nervous breakdown. had one 10 years ago after my separation from hubby no. 1.
you are stong hun you will get thought this :) xxx
thanx for your vote of confidence, sarah.
you are hun :) you a very sweet person always will to help others on here xx
sarah, as i said earlier, am pretty sure this is the last of the drugs leaving my liver. our liver is a store-house. it stores unused drugs and releases them, a little bit at a time. this is the last of it as it is nearly 12 weeks.
i need go doctors monday :(
lol, you should have heard haz the other night. she was very firm with me, as urshy's daughter is going through a tough time at the moment...and i offered to help. haz was great, pulled me up, and said NO way, take care of yourself for once. i had to agree with her.
sarah, not well or a regular check-up?
i keep getting cyst and this one really hurts am bit sick of being told it becouse i am over weight so i want to know why keep getting them all the time
cysts??? may i ask where? and since when do cysts have anything to do with our weight?
this one on top of my leg but i get them on boobs and on my belly and sides to :( this one is the size of a small orange :(
cyst or boil/carbuncle? cysts don't have anything to do with weight....boils/carbuncles maybe. are they infected, sarah?
if they are cysts, have you had your hormone levels checked? hmmmm, now i'm gonna have to do some research.
this one is hurts like hell but am on pills that are ment to stop me keep getting them
i am tried all the time to
no mention of excess weight leading to formation of cysts, so far.
thats what i thought doctor give me doxycycline 100mg that i take every day
sarah, sebaceous cysts. google and see if it looks familiar.
ok brb
doxycycline an antibiotic. if not helping, no point in taking it.

{{ruby}}, my darling....
how is ruby going, ruby?
yes look and sound like that hun
just read through the chog, dear Rose, and your "tear storms" sound tough. Thank goodness your husband is coming through for you.
Ruby is still breathless from walking/running Mr. Rufie-crazy-boy, but I think/hope that the exercise is good for me although I saw a neighbor and she thought I looked extremely pale (and at the end of summer, too!)
not only thank goodness, i thank God, ruby. he is truly one in a million.
ruby, you take care of you, please, dearest friend. when is DIL due?
on the 26th or 27th. And I hope she sorts out this computer because, right now I can't see what I type when I type letters. Sometimes they go and others, not. Also, I can't open the files I've made of correspondence in my efforts to be neat.
oh, darn, ruby. i mean about the computer. not impending DIL's visit, lol.
I'm glad she's coming; hopefully she'll cheer up depressed Burt
and, for the moment, the weather is famulous! When she came in April, it rained every day
fingers, eyes and legs crossed for continued good weather for ruby.

qu6/7 grain and plural
There is a qu7 that is plural of the qu6 alternative grain
hooray
Hi HH :)
The word “pie†can be traced to the 13th century, but in the old days, the dessert was more commonly known as a “coffin" or "coffyn.†In fact, “coffin†was used in this context for 300 years before it was applied to a burial casket.
TY kje!
oh man..i have to think now too crossy?
cool crossy
Thanks, kje
pie will never be the same
Nice! I am now geared up for the day!
I'm going to offer some coffin to our guests next week
coffin and coffee
mom's apple coffin just doesnt sound right
Use COFFYN instead...it sounds more special!
indeed:)
as american as apple coffin? sounds odd
Hot dogs, baseball, apple coffyn, and Chevrolet!
hmm - not sure if would you like a coffin with your custard would go down well in our house - specially with my cooking skills - burnt the sausages on holiday so much that you could use them to draw with
There is another qu7 that is plural of a qu6 - First 6 letters of an antibiotic drug class (fluoroqu6ones) of which cipro is one
halfway!!! (but still missing the lowest i)
baseball, hot dogs and apple coffyn
<snap> ouwachita! Good morning!
Oh! Hi Annie1

Help for na5,16 -- the very first na word -- please
The first na5/16 is an anagram of the second (meaning unsophisticated, unworldly) - and it's a latin plural so that might help with the ending.
hawaiian for whitey
hawaiian for whitey

Thanks, Molly, I hope it works for Erda.

Internet gremlins
You're welcome, Erda.
This grid may -- just may -- make me abandon this game forever
good morning haz, erda and ms molly
You've said that before, Erda, but you always come through in the end.
Good morning, ruru.
Hello all. Haz--I haven't seen you in a while. Doing ok?
yes, but there's a point when you really have to ask yourself: is this really fun?
Ru, I got an email from my football loving son early this morning. He's jazzed about opening day. : )
I'm doing okay, indeed.
So true, Erda. Then it's time to say good-bye to the grid.
me too.. I have to work today but i'll be driving and listening on the radio
I agree. No point when it's no fun.
Well, I suppose if a particular grid isn't fun, then you can decide not to carry on with that one, but there'll always be delightful ones to make it a happier experience.
howdy scwabby
*brings out kleenex for erda*
*brings out kleenex for erda*
Haz still has her rose tinted spectacles on. : D
Would abandoning babble over one grid be the equivalent of throwing out the baby with the bathwater?
Today is our 2nd autumn-like day here. Won't get above 65 degrees.
(and her prozac)
:D
Nothing wrong with a bit of rose-tintedness now and again.
It was 54 degrees when I got up this morning. How gorgeous is that?
Some grids are more fun. The giant grids are the most fun because you can type, type, type.
I know what you mean, Erda, sometimes it's just exasperating. Tomorrow it might be great.
But I'll not know - I'm away for a few days on holiday.
Where are you going, Haz?
Good for you Haz. Have a great time.
Or will be - going tomorrow to Bath from Monday to Friday.
We enjoyed it last year and decided to go back again. It's very civilised - I'll be able to wear my twinset and pearls and blend right in.
And they'll not look twice when I put my tiara on for the evening.
Bath is lovely--I envy you, Haz. Their free walking tours are great--lots of information by folks who've lived their a long time.
I looked at a map. You will be somewhat close to Lizsark in Taunton/Somerset.
Yes, we took a walking tour last year and really enjoyed it.
"Royal Crescent and Circus" looks beautiful.
And Castle Coombe is in the vicinity--supposed to be the prettiest village in England.
We're hoping to vist Lacock where some Pride and Prejudice scenes were filmed.
Oh, Jan, Castle Combe looks magical! I want to be there!
I think what I like about older cities is that they're still living, breathing, working places. The buildings may be old but they're still used.
That's well worth a visit, especially the abbey there. We happened upon Lacock when there was a church sponsored jumble sale and I bought a nice little wooden bowl made by one of the elderly parishoners. Makes me think of Lacock whenever I put it out filled with nuts.
I envy the lengthy history and architecture of the UK and Europe.
throws in towel and lists now
What I like about England is that it is filled with the most interesting rural places that haven't been at all Disneyfied--they're real landscapes and real villages.
That's ok, Ruru. No shame in finding a way to save time and do other things with your day.
Exactly, jan, they're living places, not just to be looked at.
Yes, Jan, and I MUST visit the UK someday.
I"m not sure I'd want to be in London.. but the countryside sounds lovely
I must admit I had to laugh in Oxford one day when I heard a tourist remarking that they had made the place 'look' old with the cobbles. It IS old and the cobbles have always been there.
A couple of years ago, we did a walking tour through the Cotswolds. One of my favorite days was one where we rambled into the village of naughton--not on anyone's tourist map, but a fine little Cotswold village with a great pub, the Black Horse, where the food was good, the beer superb, and the locals friendly and engaging.
Oh they will look twice, and gasp in awe. "Who is that stylish woman in the twinset and pearls!!"
The Cotswolds are just magical - even the names like Lower Slaughter and Upper Slaughter, Stow-on-the-Wold.
... and tiara
Ruru, don't sell London short. You can think of it as a collection of villages, itself. And I could spend years wandering the halls of the British Museum. (And it's free!!)
London is intimidating if you look on it as a whole, but jan is right, break it down into smaller areas.
The folks on our street go out for dinner every other Friday evening and one woman grew up in London then moved here 25 yrs ago when she married a Texan.
Last time I was in the Slaughters, they were having an old fashioned car club parade. It was great to see old Stanley Steamers, etc. running through the lanes of the village.
Well Jan, with a pub like that, I would have just stayed put. : )
Molly, we did! Turned out they had a couole of rooms upstairs, we snagged one!
Sounds great Jan. I would love to see a village. They look so charming in pictures.
They're charming unless you happen to live in one of those Midsomer villages. That series makes me laugh, idyllic settings and mounting body counts.
We used to get to the UK almost every summer--my DH is British--but since so many of his relatives have passed on, we don't have as many reasons to go. Still, I have been asked ot be scholar in residence at Aston University in Birmingham this spring, so that may be an excuse to go back and visit some of our favorite haunts. (though I am guessing tha B'ham might not be one of them! Spent a couple of days there at a conference once--great Indian food but a group of us got relieved of our purses at knifepoint on the way back.)
Oh dear!
Yikes!
Sounds worse than it was. It was pretty clear that if we cooperated, no one would get hurt.
Even so, not a pleasant situation.
And if it was the US, it would have probably been gunpoint, which I think would be much, much scarier.
Sadly, knives seem to be much more prevalent these days than they used to be.
i've been robbed at gunpoint.. with a sweaty drug addict and I can tell you directly it is no fun
Well, I found 75. Now I must do shopping for my mother, bring everything to her and then take her for a late lunch.
by a sweaty drug addict
sorry
See you later, Scrabbler.
Bye scrabbler!
The memory knocked your grammar askew, ruru.
That sounds scary Ru.
With the epidemic of opiate addiction there are robberies within pharmacies commonly now
Alright, I must be off. Enjoy the day everyone. Ta-ta.
Ta-ta. See, you'll fit right in when you come to the UK, Scrabbler.
it was really surreal to be totally honest
I was waiting for Batman to take him out
I'm sure you've relived it many times and Batman never appeared.
yes.. exactly
30 to go.. i have to list .. i can't find anything else
You know it make sense.
Anyway, I must go. Happy babbling to all and I'll be back on Saturday. Bye for now!
Enjoy your holidays, Haz.
at least I have all the w's now.. I just can't find the in words everyone was talking about but one
bye haz.. have a nice vacation
They are nasty, twisty.
Thanks, bye!
Bye, Haz! Enjoy Bath and environs!
wouldn't it be Bath and Beyond jan?
Indeed...;-)
i can see why erda was getting frustrated
Me, too, ruru. I'm stuck at 60 to go and I think that's how it will stay for me. I don't mind not finishing (or even coming close) as long as I enjoyed the part of the grid I've worked. When it stops being fun, I'm out of here.
That is the way to go Jan. It is, after all, a game. Not a conquest.
wow.. I wish I had that attitude
wow.. I wish I had that attitude
would someone clue the in first one
The first in?
yes
Yup. A few years back I realized that I was seeing Babble as a chore to do. That was a shock to me. Also, it had become a thief of time. So I thought I needed to quit. But it turns out that I just needed to recalibrate my engagement with Babble. So now I Babble till it isn't fun anymore--meaning I finish probably one grid in 10. But it works for me.
Short for a disguised spy.
Ah, so many things on the internet are thieves of time. Good phrase Jan. I'm constantly amazed at how much time people spend on the computer.
Ain't it the truth. When I think about how much time I spend just dealing with email on the job, I am amazed at how we get anything done at all!
Good morning all!
I gave up babble for lent 3 years ago. Before that I had to finish every grid. Never really came back to it in the same way. Pop in for a chat and a quick play when I have time and have only finished one grid in a couple of years because i can't be bothered to list, I still love the game just in a different way

I forgot the name of the place that made it :(
and for those who have tried woah....
The OED lists woah as a variant of woa which is a variant of whoa, which is a variant of the interjection who (not to be confused with the pronoun who--the interjection is pronounced as wo--which is also a variant of all these), which came into the language as a variant of ho! Here are the dates of the OED's quotations for these spellings of the pronunciation /wo/ when it means 'stop!': who c.1450-1859 wo 1787-1894 woa 1840-1892 woah 1856 (one example--included under the headword woa) whoa 1843-1898 (but, of course, we know it's still used)

hi Katie & Jilly
hi sis!
hey lynxx,we now use polymer bills like you and all the material comes from your neck of the woods
howdy jilly
just watching the closing ceremony so thought I would get a few more words in
hi Katie -- I don't think they
i didnt know came from there....love the polymer bills...except they curl up when hot
Hi Katie -- I don't think they're showing that here
I think we sell to a lot of places Cross. They look pretty and pretty indestructible but don't fold and I always worry about them slipping out of a pocket
I haven't acquired a polymer bill yet
indeed carlee, sole source for the special rolls of polymer is australlia
i never carry in pocket
I hear they tear easily
they in the 100, 50 and 20 now yes?
if they tear,they are counterfeit
no - VERY hard to tear Jilli
they are next to impossible to tear
i have had many in business and personal, and never manages to tear one yet
great fireworks at the end
Hooray for Katie!
I must have misheard
( she's watching closing ceremony lynxxx)
and there are so many anti-counterfeit measures.i love them
I think Katie means at the closing ceremony of the Paralympics
from the stadium all up the Thames, London Bridge , Houses of Parliament just turned red white and blue with the message "Thank you London, thank you UK"
WooT WooT WooT Katie!
very cool katie
Honestly I'm talking about the closing ceremony
actually we have some $50 counterfeit ones going around at the moment (first i have heard for many many years) but you can tell that the white star usually impregnated into the clear are glued on.
The last words from the announcer in the stadium....thank you for the summer of our lives....what a fantastic ending
wish I'd been watching, katie!
sounds very emotional
(not in a bad way!)
it has been a great 6 weeks, not often the whole of our Nation gets proud but the Olympics and maybe more so the Paralymics
Son calling....bbl *poof*
made us all very proud of our Nation
we didnt get to see much of the paraylmics
had to watch online I think
I just checked the TV programmes -- no Paralympics. We do get little scraps in the regular news -- Canadians did pretty well, I think.
we did quite a good coverage down here. The Paralympics are very inspirational
They were amazing, what people can do in the face of barriers is amazing. It has gone a long way to change the way in which disability is viewed over here
damn shame they weren't shown here
ok...canadians in the room..a friend of mine has a cocktiel named jerry... and jerry has a fb page ( is just a means for my gf's hubby to vent his political humour)... this is what he just posted...too funny ( in the voice of the bird)
TheHuge Jer TheHuge® notes that he has received numerous questions from erstwhile & present friends that seek direction in their obviously misguided lives. TheHuge® has taken time off from his busy schedule to answer some of the most popular FAQS in the order & frequency received: 1. Yes, TheHuge® can neither confirm nor deny that he possesses nuclear weapons. 2. For TheHuge®'s American friends, #1 above can be read as "Nukular". 3. Anne, Lord TheHuge® is sufficient; "Jer" is inappropriate unless you upgrade your friendship subscription.. 4. Yes Virginia, there is TheHuge®. 5. No, Cynthia. Marriage between species never results in a good time. 6. Yes!!, TheHuge®'s body is composed entirely of Higg's Bosons, i.e., "God" particles. You are thus correct in assuming he is a "Polly" deity. 7.TheHuge® is not prepared to come out of the closet. In fact, TheHuge® has never been in the closet. He has a bevy of valets that manage his Armani® ties and business feathers. 8. No. Celery is best, but it can't be too limp. 9. In answer to Bo Peep! : Steven Harper's penis is about 3 cm. when erect. For our American friends, this is about 13 inches, i.e., about 6 inches below the Canadian "norm". TheHuge® also notes that Harper is a convicted fig plucker and during his undergraduate daze was convicted of molesting sheep. TheHuge® wouldn't want him as a neighbour or a P.M. 10. For TheHuge®'s questions from Japanese friends, Harper will go to great lengths to maintain his election. His testicles nevertheless remain on TheHuge®'s trophy wall.

yes my Morewords is getting a good workout too
er, 3 cm = about 1 ¼ inches. I think he meant 30 cm

My sis-in-law was an air traffic controller that day, out of Maryland. She had to tell all the planes in her airspace to put down or be shot down. She said they all put down. No reaction, just "Yes m'am, where do I go?"
Hey Jillius...and all!
hi Champ. What a day
People do behave well in real emergencies
I agree. I think you find the best/worst of people in crisis.
OMG Champ. Incredible!
But I have to say, I was APPALLED at the number of people who went to get their kids from school, to hunker down in fear. REALLY? I felt my children were safer in the big, brick school than at home.

That's the only I I have!
I think that was a panic reaction Champ. Especially here in the DC Metro area because the Pentagon had been targeted. There really was a feeling of "what's next" and people want their children close to them in a time of crisis.
I know it was, but I live in a small town outside of Houston TX. In my mind, making my kids fearful wasn't the best way to handle things.
Hello all. I have a z back, and well its so sad, there is no z in the grid.
fw and good riddance to this nasty grid. Last word was wo 4/8, an archaic one meaning dwells; abides; stays. Bah.
Hi red! Long time!
congrats on FW.
Thanks -- sorry to grump. The nice part was the chog.
yes, how have you been? How is the recovery gone? You seem to have done well, but I dislike presumption.
good for you! Happy FW!
And the easy availability of morewords via Babble Expert :-)
Oooh...Jilibus, can you send me the link to expert? I had it, but it's gone for some reason.
Oh I'me fine now, thanks, red -- running around as before.
this is excellent to hear!
It's in my profile now, champ -- but anyway, it's http://r46.me/BabbleExpert20110410.zip
TY! No clue why it went away from my computer. I try not to use it till the last minute, but it's lovely to have.
Why punish yourself, champ? Expert can be used all the time, and if you don't want the list you can hide it.
idk...I just like doing it alone as long as I can. It's too tempting the other way.
red -- what have you been up to lately? Your profile wishes us a happy Christmas, LOL!
You can still do it alone, champ -- you can hide the chog too. It's just so handy tohave that Lickety Add box where things go to the right place.
I know! It's just my weird way...I save it for later. Silly, but it works in my crazy mind. ;)
You said it, champ!
:)
Yes, I decided not to change my picture much. Mostly a lot of running, and work, and I am on a diet which is not very fun.
I miss having the icon themes, but it seems we have gottne away from them. so I stuck with the new years grabbing the bull by the horns.
people were not following the themes much and it was a nuisance for Sprite
I admired you all for doing it, but it's a bit of a pain for me. I'm so in and out.
Red...you didn't say what the diet is. What's the gist?
Well, I'm going to catch up with Corrie on my iPad -- toodleoo and see you back at the flip...*poof
bye! think I'm out too. see you all another day!

hello all, kje, you still on?
yes
sorry, in and out
searching on line for a rolling laundry hamper since I now wash my clothes in the bldg laundry room down on the first floor... such is life in SF
I've seen a few of them. Certainly feel for you...the best day in my life was when I had my first washing machine (mind you, no dryer at that time though). I'm sorta a type A and sitting in a laundromat is NOT something I can do...
kje, I found a rolling laundry hamper at wal-mart that is about six inches wide and two feet long. Seems narrow, but the bottom fills out to hold a lot of clothes. I roll it everywhere in the house. The sides are cloth and velcro. If that helpls.
I don't sit there. this is a small bldg, just 12 units.... I take my stuff down, throw 2 loads in at once, come back up, then go back down in 40 minutes and throw it in the dryers, come back up, etc
thanks deutsch
Plus, it fits between dressers and in tight spaces.
yw
and hello, I don't think I've seen you before...
That's better, I couldn't have done that in the complex we lived in in California..too large...
missed you in SF today kje
Hi, I'm back from a while away. I sneak in every so often.
Were you waiting in a coffe shop ruru?
why the heck didn't you say anything, doofus
well, welcome back deutsch
*coffee
i tried to catch you this morning.. but you signed off too quickly
: D Jilly
did you need something earlier, jill?
No, just saying hi....
no.. skipped coffee
too quickly - ha! - i did the whole grid so was on for a bit... you just lazed the morning away and signed on too late
hi
oh. that explains it
kje, ni was watchig the food channel and saw a program about brunch at a restaurnat named Brenda's
poor ruru....
sorry i missed you ru - next time use email.... or.... you could join the 21st century and text
did it look good, TO?
hi to
I don't really text.. email yes. text no
Texting much more efficient.
I guess you can't teach an old dog new tricks ; )
yes,it was brunch
seriously, jilly - it is so efficient and fast
woof
(emphasis on the old, not the dog)
Not sure I could live without texting...
c'mon now. even I text and i'm older than all of you
I don't text either.
just looked at it on line, TO - looks promising... will add it to the list
hi dorens!
Yay for Dorens!!
i text. it is great if you are in a public place that is too noisy for a call
but i only do it rarely and with people who are committed texters
It can get a little excessive....
anyone here experienced with slo cookers? am considering trying it for ratatouille... gorgeous vegetables at today's farmers' market
like everything, it has it's niche... but it feels its niche fabulously!
will be too wet, dorens
I use my slow cooker a lot.
ratatouille cooks quickly on it's own
Yesterday I attended a Diabetes HCP Conference. Sat midway back...lots of the people <35 were texting, FB, Scrabble...all during the education session.
ratatouille needs to cook off some of the liquid, slow cookers allow nothing to evaporate
i would be concerned that you would get mush
i made an eggplant mozzerella casserole the other day that was yummo
slow cookers are best for braising... Bittman had a good article on how best to use
i do have a friend who makes it in the oven
I really LOVE my slow cooker. Get things ready the night before, throw them in the pot as I leave for work and when I get home it smells like I was home cooking all day!
That's the best part, Jilly.
I made various veggies from the farmer's market last night, ru... fridge is full of fruits and veggies and I am falling behind!
:D
in the sl4 cooker? to the pb box you have enough for a party lol
this is all true. i always do ratatouille every summer and it just occurred to me that i haven't yet, so i have the makings.
Then I add in my bread maker on a timer and BOOM!! the best supper
(lots of explosions in Jilly's house)
hello everyone...what is ratatouille?
ouch...well, need to do some work so will pass through pb on the way out...bbl
eggplant tomato, pepper
mmm. eggplant, zucchini, peppers, tomatoes, garlic and anything else you think it could use
garlic, onions
fresh basil
mmmmmmmmmmmmmm
google is an awesome tool, river ; )
Ratatouille - an animated movie about a rat chef!
I'm not a fan of ratatouille... don't like bell peppers
no garlic in ratatouille
lol gwen..have actually seen that
oh yes, garlic onions basil of course! i also like a little jalapeno (i know, not very french)
but I like everything else in it, so sometimes make it sans peppers
I had my first gazpacho soup today - it was awesome
it doesn't have meat in it river
did you make it river?
oh, gazpacho IS awesome
whoa.. first gazpacho?
no garlic in ratatouille? blasphemy
it is truly pathetic when you have the first four letters of a six lette word and STIL cannot find it :/
<--Thinks cold soup is icky.
no I went to a tribute lunch with 10 other girl friends for a friend we lost last fall. Her parents invited us over for a day of memories, laughter...etc. They put on the most amazing display of food
<--likes hot tomato soup personally
i need to list... 42 left and find nothing!!
I would have liked it better warm but it was still very good
<----with Molly on this one
i used to hate tomato soup (cause i had only had campbell's). then a friend made "french" tomato soup with bacon and sherry. oooooh la la!
sorry about the occasion, river, but sounds like a nice time overall... gazpacho is great when well made
<--Makes a mean tomato soup
I've had a chilled apple soup that I LOVED once
i do eat canned soup but only progresso hearty tomato
<--- not with owl or molly. gazpacho! vichyssoise! cold blueberry soup with cinnamon! cucumber soup with dill and yoghurt!
they first had these turkey/fresh basil/cream cheese with chive/ raisin bread finger sandwiches; cucumber slices with dill and I dont know what else, a salmon cheese spread, parmesian cookies
I've had several chilled soups that are quite good... including a sorrel soup at a benefit dinner in the spring - quite delicious
then the gazpacho and hour later
<--Thinks Dorens likes anything with wine in it
a gazpacho virgin.. never heard such a thing
schav! (russian cold sorrel soup with a dollop of sour cream on top)
and then they had baby back ribs, corn, german potato salad...all yum
river, that food does sound great (note there is no mention of wine, molly)
Mom is from Germany so her german potato salad was out of this world
dren remembr top of the twos? I had a date there once with a professor and he ordered vichysoisse. i was mortified had to choke it down
lol, owl!!
my mom used to make the best german potato salad... good stuff
opps dinner bell ringing brb
Now that is food, River. Can't quite see how they paired it up with froo-froo gazpacho, but it sounds like you enjoyed your meal.
I dont dare say how many bottles we went through. First started with champayne for the toast to Nicola and then the wines came out.... thank goodness I was not driving. We spent 7 hours there - it was a terrific day with wonderful people sorely missing their daughter
the froo-froo was just the apetizers..
ruru - I am a virgin in many ways...hehe!
just hit my double nickels on Friday - where did the time go
wow, TMI
doren: I should have stuck with him, he was a biddle. i was such a child.
what's a biddle?
oh my! old old philly family. money! society! power!
maybe we should google it ruru
did you date him as a student?
Happy Belated Birthday, River : )
such a child, doren... really
thank you Molly
exactly river! lol
he was not MY professor. i worked in the department
professor to TO.. how old are you TO to professor (holding up hands) "This many!"
why a child owl? if he wasn't your type, who cares?
LOl that's about it ru
because i was sl4? because I was a late bloomer?
didnt have that word yet thanks TO...lol!
i think we all were then, weren't we? it was a different time
anyway i am sure he was one of the poorer relations. lots of that here. my friend is related to the bouviers and hasn't two nickled to rub together, as the saying goes
Late bloomers and virgins, what a chat full. : D
whew! couldn't have found some of those q's without the list to guid me
molly: :P
go dorens!
I only have 2 q's
hi all,help with sn6/27 pls
There are a lot of ridiculous words in this grid. And I don't care what anyone says about how we aren't supposed to disparage the grid words.
what your nose does when crying
who says that, Molls?
When you beg, you might sn6 and whine
ru?
ty Molls, that was my last word!
thanks River
going to play WwF. cu all later
WTG peri!
well thereisa school of thought that just because We don't know a word, that doesn't make it stupid. just an unknown word. but some definitely seem to be made up
:)
peri?
oh my. i ate but am still hungry, i wonder if it;s the cooler weather kicking in? And I was determined not to buy any dessert
But you did, right? : D

Hi jmc
i tried that a hunnerd times

My sad tail too often...

And so miserably dark....
yikes
If I wasn't wanting my garden longer I would do a snow dance...
hi all
I think that only snow will put out that Mustang complex fire
Hi nrkii
jilly just saw stage one evacuations for sawtooth!
Heading to look now on inci web
hi nrk
*looks for jilly's sad tail*
are all 3 i words in?
Damn...looking bad harp...
yes nrkii
your tail looks happy to me
gee, i was hoping you would not say that
ooh, found it
HI jmc, just the fire west of town that was heading away has turned. Stage One evacuations for areas around it...quite a few friends may be involved...
i only have one so far
sorry just making fun of your spelling
Oh no! A spelling Nazi! The clue Nazis can't be far behind! Run for your lives!
*puts on running shoes*
haha hardly . . . i would be the first put to death!
i will leave now. . .
jmc, I just got an email about the Seaside race for this March... was remembering how much fun that was to see you and kje and redturtlehead
I had a vague urge to suggest we do it again
oh shoot, did jmc really leave?
*Sigh* Packs up the jokes. I can see they aren't going over...again...
does the last in 6 add in to an existing grid word?
it adds in to the beginning of one, yes
ty.
Ack, Molly. No problem to joke, but maybe avoid the word "Nazi." ... And when in doubt, add an LOL. :)
Heading outside to check fire...brb
Sorry, not meaning to preach. Ignore me if you want.
Good evening to my fellow babblers! How is everyone?
By the way, congratulations to all the finishers! Hooray!
hiya Min
good here, but Temple Owl made me walk over 4 miles today, so I'm TIRED
hey min. don't you believe her! :p
Hi minv!
i am faster but you may have me for endurance
There's no way I could walk 4 miles.I'm so out of shape
No nrkii, think your comment is a good reminder for all of us...
I used that word because it's been used by others to complain about spelling critics. Yet those same people are critical of how people clue. I was poking fun at hypocrisy.
and nrkii i am toying with the idea of making that phone call now, i know the recipient is a night person
Walking here now would be akin to smoking a pack of cigarettes...
How is the grid? I am just getting here. Is it doable in an hour (with list)? Not sure if I should start this one or not
but may be too late, will do it tomorrow
Min, it's doable with list, I think. I haven't finished yet, but I'm down to 15 without list (with the kind help of the chog)
Not really too bad, lots of plurals
Hi Min!!
it has some fun words
TO, tomorrow, definitely, but DO IT.
Lots of strange words Min. Definitely use the list if you are short on time.
i will!
Yep, lots of foreign words today...we
we're here to clue if needed
<--Is not ignoring the TO is going to call a man conversation. : P
Okay, here I go *SPLASH*!
what makes you think that? I am behind about four calls as of today. :p
Min!! Your icon is hysterical!
min is that for real?
Speaking of minv..were you affected by the storms that hit NY?
Okay, I'm too tired and lazy to list, so I think I have to call it a night.
Happy babbling everyone!
NIters nrkii...sweet sleeps!

Are there any li4/7 vests in the penalty box MollyL?LOL

Hi dan2!! nice work!
Little miss dan2 is such a cutie!!
thanks Jilly - she's the best
She's adorable. It's been fun watching her grow up via photographs.
Especially with no grandchildren yet.. :'(
Okay,the list got me 56 words.Do I stop or do I continue
Hello dan2bit! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid.

WOW dan2!! Congrats!!
You can do it minv!!
yes my brother's wife - all going well so far
Whoops, gotta read more carefully....sorry dan2, but congrats on niece/hephew
np :-)
this just amazes me, each new generation of children. a cousin of mine has such a lovely family, three grown up daughters, who are now having children of their own. it's such a beautiful thing. i did not have children, which is possibly why it strikes me as such a surprise. All of a sudden beautiful children all over the place. And everyone is so happy. really lovely.
2Bit has a very prolific family.
we are blessed - my folks are still with us, and now awaiting grandchild #6 since 2005
i was just thinking today that we really must work to not leave these children a wrecked world.
indeed
agreed
we are already experiencing the effects of global warming, and that won't go away for a very long time, but at least we can try to slow things down.
stepping down from my soap box now
Totally agree, every summer now we are full of fires and end fall with smoke..yet there's no global warming..
*stepping onto mab's soap box*
greenland melted this summer.
seems like rather of a bad sign
a tornado touched down in queens yesterday - not normal. extra violent weather all over the place.
hi
hi herin! so nice to see you
Hi herin!
Howdy., Mab it is ok I have shared your soap boox today
oh yes?
Friend of mine supported a pet store that murdered 3 puppies to parvo and I get told I am agressive. Society as a whole are bent
oh that's very sad. is there a vaccine for parvo?
Yes there is. But the point is people as a collective whole suck,
hi everyone, could I please get a clue for the final ha 5/12? Thank-you
I have to ask what the heck is a tornado doing in suburbia?
