and since the city has decided to sell every inch of land to developers to build houses , that no one can afford to live in.... and stores that we do not need or want and run ther wild life population out into the open.... THOSE are the people who should personally foot the bill for the removal or upkeep of the said wildlife
This morning's bunch looked pretty skinny and unhealthy -- it's been an unusually dry season (53 days with no rain now) and we have had a few fires in the interface areas - this trio may have been driven in by a fire a mile or so up the road.

we've expanded into "prime ravine/ wooded areas... " well..that deer turf...my dad fed them....he bought the fuel corn for burning in mini stoves...and fed the deer..guess what..they didnt touch his plants...now that dad passed...everyone complaining that the deer are eating their precious gardens...he had them so stuffed on corn....they didnt bother .
upo north we used to plant a secondary garden JUST for the deer away from the main one that we used chicken wire to protect..worked well
and everyone LOVED seeing the herd of deer in the back woods behind the properties
we used to fill the secondary garden with romaine lettuce.cheap and easy
2 hours with a tiller and a pack or 2 of seeds is all it takes
there you go... everyone happy and living in harmony...fight em..or join them and live and learn... the kids get to see these fab animals that ordinarily they wouldnt get to

oh, it's easier to not hit kids that aren't your own. *wicked mama grin* but of course I don't tell the students that! LOL On the other hand, subbing is brutal, not usually because of the kids (who really generally like their routines and regular teachers) but because everything is new each time and I have to suddenly understand another teacher's expectations and instructions. Other than that, I like teaching. It's fun. :-)

But teaching/tutoring is something I have always done, and I have always enjoyed watching that spark when someone finally "gets it" -- it doesn't happen often, but it's like those experiments that if something wonderful happens 1% of the time it encourages more lever-pushing by rats than if it happens all the time!
