have one as 8, but don't see a connected 9 and 8
jilli, I have had 3 friends (one in her 80's and 2 in their 50's) who have had that done in this past year; 2 had a lot of skin and tissue removed and then skin grafted. You wouldn't notice it on any of them now. Sending healing thoughts and prayers your way.
change last vowel for other 8
then build onto it for the 9

thx peach!
my most vivid memory of Sunday School was walking there (in Shanghai) with a friend and seeing a beggar woman with a baby in her arms, all dressed in rags -- and then the baby's rags slipped a bit and underneath was a beautiful red silk cape. My introduction to the Beggar Kingdom there.
wow, jilli, sure opened your eyes in a hurry eh!
My introduction to cynicism too.

on my way home tonight I had to slow down to allow a couple of young deer cross the road
so, i have nbt (and thanks for the clues), and a bed that beckons me. Hope to bbl.
they don't even look
was there a deer crossing sign there, flosey? (hope you've seen that clip about the dough-headed woman)
sweet sleep jbp
I'm a couple of miles from open land, in the middle of Hollywood, but we often get ugly coyotes, and an occasional not-so-fragrant skunk.
gnight, jbp
we get enither here
*neither
saw that Jill! too funny...move it to a school zone!
Oh, and opossums - also ugly.
no jilli, might have been a mile or so out of Ganges
we don't get those either -- just the occasional cougar or bear
flosey, I was joking
I guess the clip was on FB
lol, not one on the island
No bears here..but lots o skunks
Those don't seem to come into Hollywood, but some of the outlying parts of LA see them - generally where ther's a large garden, pool, small animalsleft outside - and not something I wanat to find outside (or inside) my apartment. I'll stick with the fish, and an occasional sleepover with DD's cat.
the clip was about this dumb female who phoned a radio station to protest a deer crossing sign beside a busy highway. She thought it should be moved to s less busy place so that the deer would try to cross in such a heavily trafficked area.
Lol
*wouldn't try
We had a bear up the hill behind the house - hubby wondered why the dog was making a strange sound - it was huge and standing against a tree as if he was thinking of climbing(?)
and she was adamant.....wrote letters etc, but no-one wrote her back.
the radio person was so patient with her. Maybe it's on YouTube.
it is
oh jilli, I had not seen that, sounds like one of the "dumb blonde" jokes that circulate (sorry all natural blondes)
Pitiful. But, in the SD area, there are signs (a man, woman and child, holding hands and running) on the freeway, alerting drivers to people crossing the lanes on foot. Unfortunately, some people (thought to be undocumented) mistook the signs for a safe place to cross.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RFCrJle\nggrI
flosey -- there IS a deer crossing sign on Vesuvius Bay Road. Last Christmas someone put a red nose one the painted deer.
good for that someone - have never noticed the sign
Ok..past halfway..time for bed..nite everyone
wtg Jan -- happy snoozing
Thanks..nite
night Jan
<-- patting self on back for finding di8?50 (the first one)

ty for the funny clip, gn jill sleep well
hmmm, it wouldn't download for me
yw shall! I'm not quite gone yet
di8/50 x 2 ..
flosey, just go to YouTube and search deer crossing sign
tks, will do that now
it doesnt open without some fiddling - chog occasionally add \n to links in a random place, which you need to find an remove by hand to make the link work
thanks, shallow
lol, too much !
well, I guess I'll turn in now -- goodnight all...*poof (hope flosey finds that clip)
ah, I see you did, flo!
I did jilli, lol

just like our son - when he deigns to grace us with his presence, haha
it's looking pretty good for he and his buddy to be on schedule for a move to Iowa in late Nov, complete with jobs in a locomotive-making company. Will believe it when I see it.
21 and he's never lived away from home yet.
is iowa far from you?
not really, the next state over.
state line's about 60 miles away, they'll be able to run home on weekends if they want.
still, moving away from home is good - and the next state over is far enough to encourage independence! don't let him bring his washing home at the weekend though!
Good morning Babble Land! TGIF!!!!
hiya car :)
Morning car.eeyore - love the name - never said that before!
LOL! was just discussing that yesterday. The other kid's at least lived elsewhere for a few months, hoping they manage to get by.

hi mom
good morning Smores
goo d morning mom!
((TO)) good morning
i got up early to shop pre storm but now it is late
I hope you will stay safe. It looks nasty on the radar. You are talking about the hurricane, correct?
yes, but it will turn nor'easter then merge with the cold front. leaves still on trees, nasty.
oh dear, I didn't hear about the nor'easter
yes. not yet sure where it willl make landfall. i need to get some peanut butter, things i can eat without power.
that's true. Do you have a fireplace so you can heat water? Or a gas stove
no.
ugh
better get going, lines willbe long, and shelves empty
take care and be safe.
lots of us are going to get hit, just a question of how much
((TO))
((mom)) i want to get ready. then i going dancing tonight.

bye bye
I must scoot as well. Have a great day everyone
s'long, Mom, you have a good day, too
OK. Finally I am back!
me too car
hi again
Hi smores!
looks like TO came and left while we were gone
And mom.
had to let the dog out and grab a bite to eat
morning all!
Good morning uusue!
How is Frank? And how are YOU?
morning uu
hi car!
and hi smores!
Frank and I are both doing pretty well. He had pancakes last night, and is ok!
:) :) :)
that's great uu - it sucks that crohns is kinda hit and miss of what you can and can't have
I've started to do sort of a modified eat-every-other-day diet, where I alternate days of eating very little with days of eating normally, maybe I can get my weight down
Make sure your blood sugar stays even though.
that sounds like what crossy is doing
it does suck, smores, and he is still in mid-flare, so much more restricted than he probably will be once it calms down
well, my eating very little days aren't quite as restricted as what crossy's doing; I'm eating three times a day, just not very much each time
Just add in a fruit or veggie if you need a snack.
my niece has something similar ( forget what it's called) no dairy, nothing with tomatoes, lots of fruits affect her
yes, I've done that (college senate meeting yesterday morning had some fresh raspberries and blackberries - yum!!)
nice uu - good that meeting are turning to the fruits for morning meetings instead of the donuts and coffee
Nice choice! Super fruits!
just make sure on the days you aren't eating much to still eat a little something 1st thing in the morning
our dean is a bit of a health nut (although there are usually some muffins or something as well)
and Frank is ok with dairy, thank goodness, as long as it is low fat (yogurt ok, ice cream not)
if he likes ice cream, maybe try some of the frozen yogurts - I switched to that a while back trying to lose a little weight myself
I did get him some vanilla - he can't have the ones with chunky fruits right now - he seemed to like it
that's good, I had a bad ice cream habit :) mostly eat the frozen yogurt now - still have the occasional chocolate moose tracks :)
Y'all are making me hungry!
sorry car :)
It's really complicated with him because of the celiac - everything has to be gluten free - and right now he has to be on very low fiber, and nothing that has large pieces (so almost pureed) - the pancakes worked because they pretty much disintegrate.
I could talk about his symptoms and take your appetite right away, car :-)
Such a learning process for everyone.
boy, is it ever!
SQUEEEE!!!! OUr new bed is here!!!!! Bye for now!
yeah car !!!
bye car!
wow, new recliners for crossy and the Mrs., and a new bed for car - it's a banner day! :)
uu - have you checked this site? http://www.ccfacommunity.org/
and I have nbt (although all my words are 4 and 5 letters), better get my day started. I think Frank is well enough that I can walk to work (don't need to worry about dashing home).
thanks, smores! I haven't been on the site much myself but Frank has been reading it a lot.
see you all later!!
later, sue, have a good day
have a good day uu

also crossy pointed out we have to be careful in chat today as Ms Winkle is in the grid again
ms winkle?
OH
Good morning, all!
hiya judi
It's been ruled okay to say people's names to greet them, etc.
Hi Judi
okay, I 've accepted that alot of words aren't in the dictionary....but with all the bio, chem and medical words, you would think enable would allow petri
proper name again.
*fills petri dish with tequilla* Soldier on, smores.
?
lol Judi
Petri takes a capital P, it's named after a person, so it's a proper name, not a common one
lol...thanks Judi {slurp}
I think it was named after the inventor.
Yep. It's right there next to the Bunson burner. Damn self-promotional scientists anyway.
still seems odd to me
hah, you should see all the common british terms that aren't accepted
There's a lot of propper nouns that have become part of our daily lexicon... Kleenex, etc.
oreo
really Judi.. words like Kleenex are nothing to sneeze at
again, proper name ^^
doesn't accept poot either...lol
Tissue? I don't even know you.
what! no poot! lol
think you need tang after poot
tut tut
That would be "poon", ruru.
what the hell does poot mean
lol....slang for yesterdays fa4 word
Judi has her obscenities down.
nothing Ru, we're just kidding.
*nods* I yes. I speak fluent potty mouth.
I love you, Judi.
didn't know if it was an east coast thing or not
Well thanks, hego. Remind me to talk dirty to youl later.
It's a deal. lol
Judi are you coming to the De meet up?
I don't think so - not sure where poot originated
Yes, hego! I'm totally psyched for it!
YAY!!!! I'm thrilled!
High noon on the Riverfront. Sounds like a Gary Cooper movie.
I shall wear my stetson.
Hee hee. Aren't we all going to wear goofy matching t-shirts that say something like, "Babblers do it for More Points"??
lmao. good one Judi!
hello all. what is the ending on the as9?
latin plural
thanks! could have sworn I tried that
Know the feeling terri
What is the beginning of the as9? Oy.
as + the argh! guy.
Got it. Ty.
yw
and I'm back....last cat has now been fed
We returned from our walk around the block last night and our cat greeted us and proudly showed us the (still alive) mouse he had captured.
what a wonderful treat Judi
gotta love cat presents
Of course we were very impressed and lavished praise on him.
lol...of course
He batted it around and made sure it squeaked so we could hear it.
oh yuck
So today, I'm sure he'll be kind enough to barf it up somewhere in the house.
ughh
Yeah. That part I could really live without.
mine usually don't barf their catches back up...thankfully
one rarely catches anything ( too sophisticated for that) the other two leave me "presents" on the porch all the time
my cat brought me a snake
Good Morning All. Speaking of cats; if mine finds one, she delivers it to us and uses the very odd low pitched meowing sound, and it's usually fairly dead. Thank goodness we haven't ever found her vomiting them up somewhere!
and a squirrel. dead.
hiya Nef!!!!
wow - never got one of those hego
My husband would love it if our cat killed snakes. My husband is the biggest baby about snakes.
awww not a squirrel :( - you must have a large cat
that's impressive, hego! Can I borrow that one? We have these squirrels that keep destroying our bird feeders
she was a great hunter and she was small.
hi nef
hi hego, Judi, and smores!
she's long gone nef.
Hiya, nef!
It's pretty rare that our cat gets a kill now. He's gotten very fat and lazy.
yhis is gross -- my cat brings in lizards, swallowed head first with its tail wiggling away -- literally one tail wiggled across the floor. better than birdies though.
Darn, hego; I need a squirrel catching cat..
LOLOLOL. Oh that's awesom, saani!
oh, saani!
hello folks - only here for a few minutes
lol...cool
catching the tails is a must because they really smell bad after a few days
hi again River
Ewww, saanichcat! Thankfully, there aren't many lizards here!
If my husband saw that, he would scream like a girl.
must go. hagd All.
hi River. How are you?
we dont have lizards up our way - thank goodness
Seeya, Hego!
Hi, River.
bye hego
my daughter would freak if her cat ever caught a lizard - she also has a gecko
bye hego :)
bye, hego. HAGD
my mother's cat once brought home a duck; she had it by the scrff of its neck and pushed it through the cat door, both legs flapping away! My mother didn't know there was a cat behind it! too fuuny.
Gotta go heat up 2nd cup of coffee. Later, peeps! *POOF*
Coffee! THAT'S what I'm missing! I started a pot, now to pour a cup
wow - see must have a rather large cat
did the duck get loose in the house?
*she
she was huge and gentle ginger rescue cat. Loved to go clam-digging with my dad down on the beach. Dad would open them for her. what a cat. Miss her.
sounds like a very cool kitty
The duck got away with the aid of a broom. But once I brought over a box of crabs (lucky day) and they got loose from their box and scuttlrd sround the kitchen and bit the same cat.
ohhh, too funny
wow! I'm glad I don't have those types of stories
country life Nef - you either deal with it or turn up the stereo
true, saanichcat. And I love sea food, but wouldn't want it running around loose (and with my kids; I'm glad we lived here in MN when they were young! We'd have that type of stories then!
I clean the crabs at the beach now.
mmmmm......crabs
We live in a 1950's-type suburb within 10 minutes of both Minneapolis and St. Paul city centers. But we have deer that wander through here; mallard ducks that nest on our lawns, and rogue geese that can scare the dogs (they come through the yards in flocks in the spring)
setting the table for them is easy - newspaper, hammer, butter etc
I love crabs too.
don't forget the lemon :)
where do the deer come from? Are they city dwellers? We have that "problem" here too but we are taking away their homes.
a snow goose can break your arm with its wing.
There are about 5 lakes within 1-2 miles of us; then there is also a preserve just 2-3 blocks away and lots of wetland running through an area just a mile away that runs for about 3 miles
oooohhh I see.
nice place to live!
it is nice; except no sidewalks. :-( (I always think of sidewalks as neighbor-builders
Hint for the re10 pls. Driving me nuts.
poos
Back to grid - getting harder now. Nice chatting with you Nef! Later.
there's a bike path along all of the busy streets; but sidewalks encourage walking
later, saanichcat

hello all....
hi red
Good morning, all
Hi red
hi red
and hi trent
Hey Nef - I've flown through and been to Minneapolis many times. Have been surprised by all of the lakes and wildlife areas you can see from the air. I love it there.
hi trentsnana
Not to mention the Mall of America - lol
what part of Montana are you in, trentsnana?
(I'm not a shopper; I've been to the MOA about 3 times since it was built!
South central.
hi red, trent
I'm not a big shopper, either, but that place is fun to visit now and then.
I am about 50 miles south and west of Billings.
I have family in Helena and Missoula; I 've even been through Alzeda! :-)
I like the Bighorn Nat'l monument; is that near you?
hi guys- what does the 9 start with? thanks
I grew up in NW MN, and over the years I've thought I've been through most parts of MT that are on east-west roads. It's beautiful country too.
as9/60
ty Norma

it's an 8-9-8 combo, Wolvie
cool nef- i am just getting them ty. :-)
can I get the di7 that doesn't have the TNT in it?

thanks!
wow- that as combo was wild- ty again guys.
this isn't an easy grid forme
very twisty :-)
and a lot of words I'm not familiar with
that's ok, my monkeys are up to it :)
yeah- i agree with that too, lol
Down to last two and not seeing them - di 7/32 and ra 5/12 any clues please
I've been working on it for a couple of hours and still haven't gotten to half way. Must be time to get up and do some housework (SIGH...)

di7/32 di+ni5 or not cleaner
i am only 1/2 way gran, but the di 7/32 i have is filthier say. the ra i have is past tense of how folks like steak

oo4 sorry , wrong one
whew, lol- had me going there
add 2 voewls to the ni5 above it
okay- ty smores. :-)
too many ni's...lol
yes!! lol
I need to just put in some of my phantom words instead of trying to find them in the grid. It seems that so many of them are real words here and not phantoms; I'm just taking a wrong turn in trying to spell it out visually!
P's are pulverized !!!
niceeeee!
wtg, smores.
yeah Nef , I have gotten a few that I didn't were really there
still disappointed about poot :)
*didn't think
well, must get some lunch - brb
good griefous almightyious- those 2 di 8's took me forever and i should know them, lol
i am taking a break- have a good one folks
ah, there are 2 di8?
hi TO. I have 2 di7's but no di8's yet; still looking
the di8s only vary in last letter. one is a biological, the other one a theological term
when you live among beleivers of a different religion, you are in di8
are they related to the di 7's, Shallow One?
both start out di+snake
no
thanks
great clue!
if you prefer the more dircet clues di+snake + pray in latin

hiya Kate :)
suppose my inner conscience wanted to post a wry smile ;)
how's tricks sprite?
not so weird when you see me arrive, grin
they are a treat, Kate!
lol, do you celebrate hallowe'en with trick or treating sprite?
They were referring to snake as in what bit Cleopatra, not the snake letter.
no, alas we don't, Kate, I wish. We do have Sint Maarten on 11/11, but it is not the same.
hello Molly.
*puts bar of soap bak in cupboard int he PB*
is that when the children go out with candles in paper lanterns and sing after dark?
*eyes molly* young lady, do you want your mouth washed out as well? :P
lol TOwl... yeah, spelling out words is not much fun. But if that is the example one has seen, it isn't weird ne does it as well.
yes, exactly, Kate! It is for the very young. No scary dress-up trick or treat here, with decorated homes etc.
i remembered doing it as a kid in germany, but couldn't remember what time of year it was... kling klitchen, kling-a-ling-a-ling....sorry for the phoenitc spelling
any ps words?

hmmm...thought i tried the yiddish sorrow words....
gosh i am exhausted from storm shopping, i already have it
i thought you might get it - even thoiugh i can't carry a tune in a bucket ;)
it's a medical term
lol Kate. It is cute to see the little ones go. But I really wish we celebrated Hallowe'en.
looks as if no on on the east coast will be celebrating this year
how come, TOwl?
we will have to get it exported then... the world should all share in the very best holidays
big storm coming
I don't live there but am hoping and praying that it doesn't hit like they say that storm will go.
oh... oh my. *keeping fingers crossed that all will go well*
i hear it is catching on in the u.k., along with thanksgiving
nef, it appears the only thing that will save us is a turn to the west, against all models
I like those holidays.
up here they are saying that we could get a huge tropical storm - but it might be snow instead of rain !
the climate is really changing. I pray everyone will be safe.
yes. and our trees still have leaves. remember last year's halloween snow?
I know, TO. This mornings' weather report looked pretty dismal
and remember irene
The NE is going to be a grim place to be come late this weekend
yes. poor folks in north jersey, river flooding
ooh, they are showing where my bro's house is, he is going down tonight to secure things.
I hope he's going to be okay, TO. Is he going to evacuate?
it is his vacation home, nef. it is on a canal at the shore
:-( that's sounds beautiful; but probably not so safe now
scary place atm.
well, he just spent big bucks to redo his bulkhead. but ty ned, it is only property. those of us near rivers and streams have caution. this used to be beautiful farmland because fo all the small streams.
any help with the second di7? stumped

I need more 4 and 5 letter words than big words yet.
i need the 10, 1 x 8 and 2 x7
good grief, I only have 6x7 and 1x8. Biggies aren't my forte.
all the rest are smal - I always fird the 4s the hardest
most of the 7s and 8s here are extensions i think
yeah... there are so many of them and at a certain point you juts cannot remember which ones you haven't yet tried.
the 10 is an re
figures. An 'again' re or other?
the 10 isn't an extension of an 8; it's to come back to your country again
an again re, but the word it was derived from doesnt work - that threw me off track at first
I have been trying to find words like that. Thanks, will find them now :)
yes! Thanks for the 10. I already had the country lovers, should have seen this one.

hi hurshy - hows your kitty?
hi hi hi hurshy
hi Hurshy
and hi peri
tape
well, he's ok. i mean he doesn't eat enough, but he does eat. and then i found out from my sister that when her dog had this kind of issue they put her on a steroid which increased her appetite and she gained the weight back. so now i know that's an option i feel better.
what is wrong with your kitty, hursh?
good to hear
lost his ap7
nothing much peri, he lost some weight, but his blood and urine tests came back looking pretty good. we've switched him to wet food because some of his kidney levels were SLIGHTLY elevated, but it's hard to get him to eat enough of it, because he's never been very into food.
to5 has the same ending as the gladiator
oh, ok
i sometimes have been stressing about him more than may have been warranted...
you are allowed, hursh, he is your baby
and such a little love-bunny
food, he says, i can take or leave. but LOVE, i will DIE without.
hmm the top R's seem challenings.
Aww, hurshy. I hope it's just that he's fussy about what he's eating these days
yeah there doesn't seem to be anything particularly wrong, and like i said, now that i know he could potentially be given something to stimulate his appetite if necessary, i feel better.
if we could do a "freaky friday" sort of thing and trade appetites, he'd do fine...
*fireworks*
I've never had a cat that lost weight by being finicky about what they eat.
anybody want a clue before i go cook dinner?

very pretty nef
sorry; must be time to take a break for me
thanks. what are you having?
happy babbling all, not sure what i am having - salad was planned but it's too cold to njoy salad so i'll probably have pasta with tomato sauce
(just realized I need to go to the PB too
well, enjoy
see you tomorrow *poof*

bye, Glant. I'm going to leave too. BBL after some housework is done.
housework?
I can't believe I just bought an extendable swiffer to get rid of the dust bunnies under my bed. they are good company
housework is not my forte

name that proper noun! second largest island in the mediterranean
it's... um... i don't know that i'd say scary... just kinda... weird
sardinia
ding ding ding!
: D
weird is good. I have had the postcard for many years.
mistook that for a clue ...
Sounds rather fishy to me
hi br
hi there BR
name that proper noun is a game we play to get the proper nouns out of our system, since we can't enter them.
Just a little side game, Shallow.
i invented it. :)
yes you did.
you did, indeed, hursh
a phantom subset with a touch of realism ;)
Hey Matt. :)
proper nouns are okay as long as they are in the Enable dictionary
thanks for the heads-up

Hello, Wolvie
well ms. pe4, you are better off than i am. i don't have the 9 or 10 and only found 1 8. :)
the ex becomes an re when sent or returning to the country of first legal status
hmmm
oh i get it!
ty!
I don't get this ex and re word either. Clarify, pls
it's not an ex word that's in the grid
it's if you were an ex... well related to pa7
yes, but slightly different spelling
just think of the word that means someone going back to their own country (without the negative connotation of deport or extradite)
and verb-form
the ra turnip leaves word is ensconced
now that one i feel less hopeful about deciphering.
I got the pa 7, but what am I looking for with the re?
youre on the right track for the re 19, hurshy
re10 means exactly - someone returning to country of origin.
re10*
yeah i got it i was just tryin to splain
obviously not very successfully
you can't do re + pa 7, right?
how droll, hursh :)
no
End it with consumed food Bich

the 9 is as+freebooter + different endings
ra + homonym of not loose
is that the one you mean?
We didn't have power for a day during Irene and nothing went bad. But more than that, I don't know. During last year's Oct. snowstorm we didn't have power for 3 days, but it was much colder out

gone to list. pleased to say, first two not fish.
babble something about entering the country again is one of the RE words that could be an ex word?
it is re10, yes, and it could be ex10, if the grid were arranged differently.
In general terms, the ex (not in the grid) is a person who moved to another country, may renounce his citizenship, and became a citizen of the country he/she moved to. The re in the grid refers to a person who comes back to his/her country of origin
excellent defining.
oh for heaven's sake. among several other fish, my last word was a green, leafy, tr4.
crap, I am having a problem with my cell phone. I do not hear it ringing when someone calls me or when I call them. and I cannot access voice mail.

hi BabbleRabble, good to see you :)
fireflies. Bye all, have a good day and/or a peaceful night. *hugs*
Hi everybody :-). Greetings from a bitterly cold Ireland. I actually saw a couple of snow flurries this evening! Hope Hurricane Sandy is not affecting my Transatlantic friends too much!
*Passes Soodle a hot uiske*
hello all
Hey Cos
((((Molly)))). No need for the uiske. My needs have been well catered for this week!!
Hey Cos.
i have hot apple cider frothing in our hot drink maker
Sounds delish, Cos :-)
Yes but that whiskey, lemon, sugar and cloves thing that a fellow Irishman posted here is such warmth on a cold night.
Indeed. As you know, I am not a whiskey drinker, but, if one is feeling unwell, or if it is very cold outside, or if the day of the week has a 'Y' in it, a hot whiskey is always comforting!
People are in total freak out mode over this impending storm. State of emergencies have been declared in advance, the electric company is leaving "be prepared" voice mails and I'm sure people are at the grocery stores buying everything in site.
I heard an old man (80+) asking for a 'What Hiskey' in the pub a while ago. Clearly, it wasn't his first...........

Jeepers, even over here, we are getting news bulletins about the impending tempest.
thanks molly
My only concern is a tree out back that has the kind of branches that don't do well in high winds. It shouldn't cause much damage if it goes down, but I have deep affection for trees. Especially that one.
Great clue, thanks Molls.
i lost two and a half trees last October 28th. hope no more this year
I hope so too, Dorens.
Hi Dorens :-)
hi :)
i'm trying to ignore this, since last year i lost my electricity for 6 - 7 days in August and again in October. And still didn't get a generator
I'm not sure if its because of the rotten Summer we have had, or maybe I am just becoming a bit more observant in my old age, but the colours of the trees this Autumn (Fall) are the most spectacular I ever remember.
I would love to have a generator. It would take a lot of the worry out of big storms.
you had a lot of rain, right Soodle? that does make for great color
The amount of rain you have over the summer has a lot to do with the intensity of the fall trees.
Molly, i was so close to getting one... a pushbutton generator was on sale for a great price at Costco
Snap Dorens. : )
hi all! taking a break from work...
hi sue
How much could you expect to pay for a generator?
hi dorens, soodle, molly!
oh it runs the gamut.. the one i was look at was about $700... but they go much higher. particularly if you don't feel very mechanical and want one that will sort of start on its own
hi Ladies
hi hego!
hi hego. made storm preparations?
It also depends on how many things you want to keep running. They are priced by the electrical output they provide.
not much to do.
Hiya Sue & Hego :-)
have water have batteries, have food.
And the stores are a zoo.
yes, i guess that is about it
Hmm... $700 plus is a big outlay.
and I live 3 miles from the ocean
can I get the re 6/18 between the 10 and the first 8?
but I do wish I had a generator also.
After living through two long power outages, I keep a "storm kit" stocked. That way, I don't have to battle the last minute folks at the store.
it is soodle, and then there are other costs involved, unless you can just lug it up and down the steps, and they are heavy
good idea Molly
yup. i have my lantern andflashlights and batteries, etc all together and pull them out and have them ready whenever one threatens
oh my word, nevermind lol I found it
is it me or is this grid boring as hell?
it sure is Cos, been leaving it in frustration all day lol
it's not you.
I live on the west coast of Florida. we have been having gusts of about 50mph, but not expecting much. be safe all!
what? i found both as8 last night and now it says i only have 1
I agree, it's not you Cos. I've been doing it in dribs and drabs because I keep getting bored with it.
don't know how a grid can be boring... hard or easy, i enjoy them. if not, why would we be here?
ty Terri
good thing I remember which one it is :)
glad you're on the west coast terri... at least this time
I don't find them as enjoyable when I have to work hard to find dumb words.

Smores!!! Guess what I tasted for the first time this week.... SMORES!! A very very dear Babble friend sent me the all the ingredients, and myself and the kids had the most incredible feast imaginable.
aren't they great, soodle?
you don't have chocolate bars or graham crackers or marshmallows where u are?
and people wonder why Americans are fat...
YAY Soodle - they are quite yummy aren't they :)

They do? (Wonder why Americans are fat)

Soodle that's great! And i know who your s'mores fairy is too.

I will be having them tomorrow, going to a bon fire at a friends house
what state do you live in smores?
there are smores fairies?
I'm in Indiana Hego
only on Babble.
Yummy doen't even begin to describe them. And as for the S'mores fairy.... Bless her, bless her bless her. (My hips, thighs and belly are cursing her as I type.....)
no storm worries for you then.
she's a doll at heart, but don't put that around.
The s'mores fairy and I are going to clink glasses, eat s'mores together and have the craic one of these days. Of that I have no doubt.
let me know, I want to be there!
I could use some craic.
For sure, Hego!

Ha! Hurricane mania is in full frenzy. Now they are saying it could affect the election.
Romney bought a hurricane?
I am on the west Coast. WIll I be able to get back?
or people will think the hurricane is Obama's fault?
voter turnout, sue. early voting
No Kap. According to all panic reports, it's the end of the world as we know it.
yes, I actually thought of that, cos
and kap, hi, and you will be able to get back. Eventually.
Actually, the storm could affect last minute campaign travel and tv endorsements (no power, no voters seeing the ads)
.... and I feel fine"
ahhhh that makes sense too
first di7 please?
Ditching the chateau neuf to cross over to 'the other side'. And, for the record, the end of the world is not for another while yet.... Sometime in December, according to the mayans.

WTG Nancy!
hi all, back to find my last 15 - company has gone, supper went well and kitchen is clean.. aah, time to relax!
YAY NANCY! (((aloyisius))) hey all
howdy ((stid)) !
.. and congrats to Nancy!
how are you aloyisius? where are you? is storm Sandy going to cause you any problems?
stid, I'm still in Ohio for 10 more days.. yes, we are supposed to get the "backlash" and maybe 3+ inches of snow on Halloween, but not as bad as other areas .. just had a going away supper for neighbors who are headed for southern Texas tomorrow afternoon.. they are getting out in the nick of time
are you dressing up for Halloween?
well three inches isn't horrible, just more than I know you usually get this time of year. I hope the storm won't be as bad as feared.
I don't observe halloween, so -- no. :-)
me too! The power outages are the worst part, I think.. some trees still have leaves, ergo heavy snow snaps branches on top of power lines
Mother Nature knows what she is doing when trees shed their leaves
definitely -- the maples here are only just turning (WAY late) and I hope they finish and drop the leaves before we get a wind storm. Last time we had an early "blast" it was pretty bad.
are you doing anything special for the holiday? other than shoveling snow?
lol, no.. I bought some Snickers just in case kids come, but they haven't been by for years (sniff).. the neighborhood kids are all grown and gone
now, what AM I going to do with those Snickers, lol
sigh, guess petri is proper, as in petri dish
our neighborhood has a small resurgence in kids -- a family that moved in last year, one that moved into their recently vacated grandparents' home, grandparents parenting their grandkids... but it's a lot quieter now than it used to be. Snickers don't last long, do they. I suppose you can justify not letting them go to waste with all the extra calories burned because it's chilly when snow is being shoveled? And if you are the one shoveling the snow you can justify a few more...
well, ya know.. Snickers freeze well, but I don't know that
we have a contract with a snow "pusher".. if there is 4" or more, he comes.. otherwise, our circular driveway on an incline is impassable
not enough room in our freezer for snickers, with all the apple pie filling (I canned it, but a few of the jars didn't seal well), the frozen berries from summer, the ice cream...
2nd pi6/21 pls
hi everyone! clue for the ra6.21, the second one plz?
ooh, your freezer sounds like a storehouse of goodness..
second one, captain jack sparrow was one.
Guy with an eye patch and peg leg, Peri

oh my, yes one of grant's friends has a similar driveway, and the last big snowstorm I had to deliver Grant... I slowed down on the road, skidded past, pushed the kid out... *wicked mama grin* managed to slow enough to navigate the round end of the cul-de-sac and relied on the traction bit on the car to pull me out.
