very surprised we had lickety on a Friday, and didn't use it :)
think the ones with a lot of vowels are harder to see
definitely; and I still struggle with words starting with vowels... no clue why that is
asea and euro for me 3 vowels i cons...starts with a vowel
1 cons. that is
getting better with asea
ahorse

how much longer are your golf courses open?

last year..we played thru the winter...it was a mild one..but they close if snow is in the fairway...might not be great golfing when the high is 40 and windy...but some folks have the cart covers and hheaters and are hard-core
that IS hard core; I always thought winters there were rougher
we get ice storms...and on average 15 inches of snow
last year 3 inches,....and lowest temp whole winter was 12
I don't like winter, but I think we need a good hard one this year... kill off pests; kill off viruses; hydrate the ground
surprise! i hit halfway! off to bed
nice job pav; sleep well
had so many bad winters...think i might like a few mild ones...but know what you mean
Does MN have the worst winter in the US?
other than Alaska?
minus alaska...would say northern minnesota and north dakota
one of our daughter's friends just recently moved to Minneapolis area... think she might be in for a rude awakening
people there know it is coming and live with it...everything still goes on...not like when chicago or NY get a big storm and its shuts everything down
conditioned for it; makes sense
well, I am off til the flip; have fun golfing; try not to blow away
Hello Everyone. Dart, do you live here in MN?
not much of a choice not to be
bye volley...hi nef..lived there for 52 yrs...just moved to KS
Where did you live? I'm from northwestern MN and moved south for the warmer climate; so I've now been living in the Twin Cities for over 40 years
born st paul..grew up maplewood...then st louis park...maplewood..burnsville...then 22 in lakeville
we've lived insouth shorview for 20 years; lived in south MPLS for 20 before that
where in northern minn.?
50 miles east of ND and 70 miles so. of Manitoba
(by Thief River)
that is where the real cold i was telling volley about is
you want cold.. it gets down to 50 here in November
LOL! Yeah, it doesn't get to -40 down here in the Cities like it does up there!
ooooooo
I know.. I have to put pants on. not shorts..
poor ruru; 50 degrees (F) is still tee shirt and short weather here! ;-)
when the cold hits...you were at least 10 degrees colder than we were...and we were at least 10-15 colder than chicago...and they think they see cold
yep. But I really think the weather here isn't too bad at all most of the time. My sister is a vet and still lives up in that area; I'm so glad I chose an indoor career and moved south! :-D
my last winter there was 2010-11...snow was up to my waist by 2nd week of december.....last year was first one down here...and minneapolis had 15 inches total all winter
and winters have been on the wimpy side for about 10 yrs now minus that 2010-11 one
I know! We had been snowed in a couple of times that winter (2010-11) and luckily had friends who helped dig us out of our driveway. Last year we'd hired someone to clear our driveway whenever it snowed an inch or more; and that didn't really pay either
had neighbors move in from boston....dont think they have seen a bad one yet
(DH has MS and I had a hip replaced last year; neither of us can shovel or snowblow our short drive; it's a slight hill too
see ruru..if you lived in MN you would have to get yours knees done
oops..heleft
you don't want to mess with having to shovel snow...for sure
Jeez, just saw the time! Our grandson is spending the weekend here and he gets up early; I better get my butt to bed!
me too...golfing in about 8 hrs...nice chatting with you nef
we must have scaared him off talking about the cold....
bye, dart! hope you have a good game!
and good night to everybody else. Happy Babbling!
hope i dont blow away...winds will be 25-35..gusting to almost 50
cya later all
(just don't take an umbrella then; that might help)
no hat ..no umbrella
poooof
can anyone clue the 8 please
ra8 cut back in availability
bit of a struggle but got there in the end thank you Shallow One
yw. dont like to get the overly obvious clues myself for a first try, i think one could always ask for more specific ones :) so if im too cloudy .... dont hesitate
I agree, I don't look at those that spell it out unless I am completely stuck - which is probab;y why I never finish the grid. My target is NBS and NBT and halfway.
oh, i like to finish all right. i give the grid several workings, and when i'm absolutely stuck, theres always morewords. but since that never fails me, i try to avoid it.
but about 9 out of 10 times i consult morewords, i didnt know the word anyway
just a question for Jenny and Shallow.....if one was to say - for example from yesterdays grid, Di 8,you need insulin (diabetes)...would that be a clue or what?...just like opinions...Thnx
hello diz - to me that would be a good clue, but if you said di+b** on a horse 2nd vowel and plural - that's a bit too much
I know a lot of people like the clues spelt out for them but that, to me, defeats the object of a challenge.
TY Jenny.
for me it was a clue that worked well. the word is fairly common, so the clue is a bit obvious but would know how to hide it even more. I remember it was in an awkward position on the grid - with a turnable grid, i pretty sure i'd have found it sooner or later on my own
*i wouldn't know
Jenny, thats one of the reasons I don't look at Lickety's clues until the very last.
after all that - I'm stuck on the E in the rh column
en 5, en 7
not related
it were nice if lickety's clues came in stages like stage one only first letters, stage 2 first letters and wordlength, stage 3 adding wordcount and stage 4 as it is now. But i don't know if that were hard to program, wether someone would do, if enough people would share my view, and I'm very very thankful for lickety as it is right now -I'd be lost without it. I just limit myself not to open it until i atleast have half the grid, when i feel a grid is easy i try to carry on beyond that
agreed, Shallow.
Those who clue cannot win. Some want more info; others less or none. That is why I do not clue like I did years ago.
how do you "win" at babble? first finisher?
That is not what I said
WIN at Babble????
then please clarify, must have got you wrong
Another reason to not clue.... people cannot read
sorry BR, just re read your post.
migthy harsh response, BR, but i think i got you now
hello all - I just appreciate all clues and lickety too - have worked my own system of stages - finding all the words I can - then using lickety then using lickety and the dictionary and then when really stuck ask for clues :) and really I think it rude of poeple to complain if others have the deency to clue them - it is not like they have to do it - woops hobby horsing - I am bit bored - eldes sick hubby sick daughter bad shoulder and ti has got wet and rainy here and I shouold be working so play babble instead :)
Harsh? Your response was simply wrong
but wether reducing communication is a step towards 'winning'as never being able to get it right for everyone is a possible consequence, that for me would be even more unsatisfying than the occasional misunderstanding
i agree with u tanja i appreciate all clues. i pretty much work the grid same as you..
Amazing
Hello, ivesy and Tanja
my mother taught me thank you costs nothing but a few seconds :)
Hello Babble and Ivesy:)
hi babble, tanja.. . some people want clues, some dont.. and you cant win with some of them.. cant please all the people all the time !. if u want a clue take it, if u dont, dont look at it
and i dont mean win the grid. i mean u cant win with some people.. just to clarify
i finally did get that:)
ok :)
exactly Ivesy but ufortunately the mentality of the social networks has people say things and write things that have no tone or context or thought of context (are faceless ) and becasue they don't many people don'trealise there actions or manners are lacking
Back again for a little while! Just read the stuff below - I also appreciate whatever is given. People are helpful and that's one of the ways that friendliness is shown. So, in whatever format help comes, if asked for, it's really appreciated. Thanks

agreed..
Hello, Lyn
I must admit i have been finding it more doable than i normally do..lol
hi BabRab
Hello, BR
Hello, zoom
Yeah, seems pretty fast. I didn't have time to enjoy the one yesterday
Hi BR :)
Hello, smores
small yet odd grid today
Poetry readers might see the archaic word for silver
mmm and what letter might that start with?
a
I'll let you know when I find it - poetry reading is not a pursuit of mine
morning all~
ah yes...now I remember seeing it before TY BR
Hello, Sue
Morning, Sue
hi, BR!
hi Sue...I heard Frank was already having his operation. How is everything?
hi, zooz!
thank BR
long update in my profile, lynxxx
Hi uu, hope things are well for you
he is doing ok, the cancer is out, chemo to come, we are scared
have a quick read, back in a sec
hi smores!
{Frank and Sue} stay strong
we are struggling, smores, but we have lots of support
Wow Sue - what a lot to go through in such a short time. You heads must n]=be swimming. Fantastic you have such a strong support time. A lot of people tend to back away when they hear the word cancer - but your friends don't.
it has been pretty intense, lynxxx
Has to be somewhat frustrating not to know to the extent possible what Frank has to deal with.
it is, BR, but we will have answers soon.
Just take each step one-by-one. It will all happen so quickly you won't have time to dwell too much on it all anyway. I know when I was going through it I didn't truly realise what was happening...it was actually much worse for those around me than it was for me. Looked like shit - death warmed up - but truly I just felt out of it. Hopefully Fran k will be a bit oblivious to it all as well. Really tough time for you - but he does have you by his side which means so much. He will get through it Sue - you gotta trust in that. XX
thanks, lynxxx, it is really hard to watch
I know, I know...hang in there girl
what I want to watch out for now is that he doesn't slide into depression
He has a history of that?
yes
That is very important Sue, just stay strong, he will need your strength
OK.
partly it was a side effect of undiagnosed celiac disease
There will be times when you will want to lose it, make time for yourself away from him for this
You know there are all these stages that you go through when you are told you have cancer....You know the Anger/Denial etc. I am sure they will have physc support services there in the hospital for caner patients...maybe that is something positive you can do/find out about
Just stay as positive as possible
If not within the hospital...there are probably phone cancer support services. I used them a lot for me - I also used them a lot when my Mum was dying
yes - I am told the cancer center here is quite good - I am sure we will find out all about it over the next few days
Great to talk to people who have an intimate and similar experience with what you are going through.
yes, cancer is certainly common, and a lot of my friends have already shared their experiences - I lost my mom to ovarian cancer but that was almost 40 years ago and I was not actively involved in her care
There are always things you forget to ask the Doctor too...or may feel stupid asking him. Those support services are great for that too. Knowing &/or information is really helpful coping mechanism
that was one of the reasons I was glad to have several friends with me when talking to the surgeon - I knew I wouldn't remember everything. One of them even took notes.
Talking talking - something we women do a lot and is really useful for coping. Something I don't think men do enough to get them through stuff. (personal observation in my own family this week)
yes - he's talking to me but I think it would be good for him to talk to a professional too
smart girl Sue
talked to my dad yesterday, he still has no power from the storm on October 30, and it is starting to get cold
Where is he again? I was listening to a program the other day where they were interviewing a power company trying to fix all the lines. Sounds like a nightmare
Found the 8 - yeah!
he's in New Jersey, not near the shore so no water problems, just a bazillion trees down
oh jeez
yay smores!
Yeah, the guy was saying in a lot of instances they had to cut through/down 2 trees to get to the problem ones. Had quite a few thousand linesmen coming in to work on it.
yes, they have been coming from all over the country
at least it is not a repeat of New Orleans, god forbid
Mayo Clinic ... resilience: http://tinyurl.com/acad5m5
what a simple insightful guide BR...bookmarked that one
me too
Going to make myself a late supper then off to bed. Goodnight everyone. keep babbling Sue, good place to come and 'dump' during times like this. Will be thinking of you both. xx
Be well, lyn
thanks, lynxxx!
This one has helped me when I feel down and helpless: http://tinyurl.com/ah7ftzd
that one looks good too, BR. Thanks!
hi, all. I have incontrovertible proof that I am NOT addicted to Babble. This past week, we have had two fairly large grids, and I have completed them, despite having an abrasion to my right eye that has led to a trip to the ER and to an eye doctor, with medication required to prevent infection/promote healing, and for pain. Nope, not addicted to Babble at all... :)
going to go lie down a bit, bbl. And I hear you, angel!
bye uu, get some rest and Try to have a good day
Hi Angel

i've looked at the rivefront website and it appears to be a large conglomeration of several shops and restaurants. where exactly are you meting?
good morning everyone:)
Riverfront Restaurant. 3 South Orange St. even tho the post on FB says Market st.
I know what you look like so I will look for you. How tall are you? (odd question but it is hard to tell how tall someone is in a picture) you know what I look like, right. I am 5/8" blonde
the riverfront market lists several restaurants. none of them have that name
I will probably get there early. have never been before
i'm 5'4"
well that is what Brookie put in the invitation. I do not have her phone number. do you want to meet at a particular restaurant. just give me a name and I wlll find it.
Have a great time at the meet up!!!!
Good morning Crossy!
we could exchange cell phone numbers if you want.
car!!! golod morning.though my browser was acting up!
maybe there is a main entrance somewhere
good
harry's fish market and grill, a deli, cheesecake factory, pizza place, sushi place, no restaurant called riverfront. that is the name of the "mall'
morning crossy, car, etc
well maybe the main entrance to the mall?
Hi Dorens! Hi Peri!
howdy dorens
who chose the place? perhaps they had an idea?
everyone going get a helium baloon and draw a babble tile on it and tie it round yer hand on a long string hehe
That's a good idea, Crossy!
and now it is time for crossys tidbit of the day!!!
Two-digit Interstate numbers are designed to let drivers know the general direction of the highway. If the Interstate has an odd number, it runs north-south. Interstates with even numbers run east-west.
Brookie chose the place cause there are lots of places to choose from.
I tried locating her on zaba search but no luck
there must be a main entrance of some sort
Nice one, Crossy
I knew this one Crossy! We have big I-95 that runs the length of the eastern seaboard!
:))
well, good thing the weather is so nice... hanging out at the main entrance will have to do.. then we can decide what sort of place we want --thai, seafood, etc

sorry
ok, I will look for you. bye for now
it is going to be almost summer here for sunday.thank god for that because traditionally nov 11 is cold, miserable half rain half snow and our war vets suffer every year.year before last we organized a group of school children with umbrellas to make our ww2 vets a little more comfortable
I am so glad to hear that Crossy!
was nice.they would keep the rain off of them and in turn hear amazing stories that will not be found in a book and right from those who where there

Cross, I still have my father's WWII photo/story album from the 101st Airborne. He was a paratrooper. Asked him to tell stories but he wouldn't talk about it. Bless his memory and his spirit.
many keep it to themselves as is their right
my grandfather also never spoke much of it,but did write a book of poems about it
he was a firewatcher in london during the blitz among other things he would stand post of tall building and report rocket/bomb strikes throughout the city and he lost his m8 on one watch
I can only imagine the trauma all our military face when deployed. When I turned 16 and wanted a car he refused to let me buy German or Japanese....remnants of the trauma. I'm glad we finally are supportive of our military and not like things were for Vietnam vets. Bless all who serve and those who keep vigil for their return.
he was also part of the flotilla to dunkirk and back
indeed mimi
And good for your community for actually doing something.
i meet gen rohmer almost every day.the man is a marvel and highly active in everything listed in that wiki page
he oranized the new war museum and also did alll the work for the 60th aniversary return to holland i think it was
and quietly paid for airline seats for any local vets who were still fit to go
Greetings Babblers.
but i ramble on.time to find some words
howdy scrabby
Just looked at your profile and we have something in common. I haven't had cancer but I've nearly died 3 times. Actually was allowed to see the other side the last time and it was amazing. I'm not religious but am spiritual and now am not afraid to die but not in a hurry either. What a terrific thing for your friend to do for others. My father has a small display in a museum in York, Pennsylvania that is a museum exclusively for the 101st. Makes me feel good knowing there is a type of memorial to him.
I'll relax here for a bit then must clean and vacuum.
((Mimicat))--glad you are here to tell us your story. My Dad died in April and I would like to believe he is happy and in peace.
lol mimi,on top of the cancers i have gone through the ice on frozen lakes twice, been run over by a car and was chewed up in an industrial mishap..death? i laugh at death mwahahaha!
i am sure your da is at peace scrabby
My mother would so wish for a message from him, that he is ok.
and is now immortal because of you.whenever you tell a story,or smile in rememberance of a time in your lives together or share him with us he lives on and with all the best of his life
Wow!! Maybe God feels the same way about you as He seems to about me: "Let's leave 'em down there a long time 'cause I don't' need the grief of 'em up here telling me how to run things and all the mistakes I've made!
TY, Crossy
Funny, Mimicat
you never know what road life will give you.we have a local lady who just set the guiness world record for the worlds oldest yoga instructor..she is 97
and still teaches
though she says of late she feels a tad stiff most morning and it takes her longer to do her loosening up exercises before class
Good morning all
howdy bob
Good for her!
Hi Bob
Scrab, when my mother died (she was actually my grandmother) I honestly felt he with me for several years. One day while I was in the shower and very pregnant with my first child I felt her kiss me on the cheek and leave. I never felt her with me again. She had her own destiny to fulfill and was satisfied I was OK on my own. I believe they are very well cared for on the other side and suffer no pain of any kind. The love I felt when I was allowed to briefly enter that space was unlike anything I've ever experienced. Take comfort in that, please.
Your words do comfort me because of your experiences!
my lady often feels her departed father
BTW, welcome to Babble, Mimicat. Please go pro. Where do you live?
and with her mother joining him this last month i am sure both are at peace and together again
yes mimi welcome to the insanity
I'm so glad I could be useful this morning. Life is hard for me right now and this helps me, too. What a wonderful community we have here. So glad all are willing to share. We are all in this together and should be helping each other. I live in Phoenix. Where are you, Scrab? And, cross, where do you live in Canada?
I live in a rural area southeast of Buffalo, NY.
i am in central ontario in a little place called collingwood at the base of blue mountain right on the shores of georgian bay
I hiked down into the Grand Canyon 16 mo ago--wow!
hello
I live in Sun City!!!
How Owl and Mubner
the american store chain that is taking over all our zellers stores is in the grid and a valid word.good hunting!
Yes, the canyon is amazing. I adore Canada as well. Wow, Mub---right next door! I've been in every state in this county except far New England and lived all over as well. Would like to travel abroad but am happy I've seen so much of this incredibly beautiful and diverse country. Good to connect with everyone.
Hi Scrabbler - thanks for uplifting chatter
scrabs, did you get snow this week?
Chatter, chatter, chatter. That's what we do here.
Owl, we had minor amounts of snow last Fri, Sat, Sun, and Mon. Now we are in the midst of a few warmer day.
we had a dusting. it will be 60 on monday.
hello chatterers
Kind of wish I lived somewhere cold since these days I look so much better with MORE clothes on!
scrabs, did leslie get her power back yet?
Hey, Doren. Any power at your home yet?
Leslie got power back Wed PM.
no, but hope springs eternal. I'm in Baltimore now... but should get a call when it happens. and i'll be back sunday evening... my friend MIGHT still let me back
hey doren! heading up to nj shortly
beginning to wonder about thanksgiving. hey owl, good luck with all that
Did you get a lot of snow in NJ?
four inches, but fortunately no more trees down. Friend in freehold got 18 " yes, eighteen! and lost the rest of his trees. so sad
So much devastation in NY and NJ
it is beyond imagination, really
a firend in harrington park got power wednesday, as well as so hackensack
and long island seems to be worse
morning all!
Sue, how is Frank this morning?
that's good. slowly but surely, normalcy returns. some day it will just be a memory. Yes, my sister in law in long island hasn't been home yet either
mornng sue
Yes--how are you doing?
hi sue, how are things?!
I've put a long(ish) description in my profile
good morning! miss2bit enjoys "the little green bunny rabbits" Scrabbs :-)
suze!
we just finished talking to the surgeon (profile doesn't reflect that), it may be Wednesday before we get the pathology report since the thing they took out was rather large and complex
Frank is feeling sort of ok, obviously our emotions are all over the place. He is going to get some blood soon, lost about 500 ml during surgery
i wish you strength for the next few days, and peace
This surgery will require a long time for recovery, so remind Frank to take baby steps toward wellness.
thank you, Doren! Oh, as of yesterday my dad still didn't have power, but he says he's fine. The library has power so he's spending a lot of time there.
just read your update sue.i am sorry,it seems to be much more complex than first thought!
Hi Little Miss2Bit!
es continual wishes for a seed recovery. I have a friend who had to have temporary ostomy, right as rain after healing chemo etc and was reconnected
she's now distracted by Curious George. thoughts & prayers for you and Frank, uu
he's been sleeping at home, sue? does he have any source of heat, wood stove? Most folks from Mountain Lakes are sleeping at the High school where they've set up shelter. Fortunately the weather seems to be warming up, but it was desperately cold for a few nights there
speed. sorr sue, at least it did not become seedy! :/
we really won't know exactly what's going on until we see the pathology report, and I will let you all know when we do
Doren, he has been sleeping at home, he has large east-facing windows so the house heats up during the day. He's been wearing a knit hat I got him as well as some thick down booties, and says he is fine. His living room is in the 50s at night, 60 during the day
I asked him if he had somewhere to go if it got too cold and he said the weather was getting warmer. Sigh. But he did say he would go somewhere if it got too cold.
that's terrific sue... one thing you don't need to worry about. My house was 43 the last day i was there, and that was at 3:30.
Sue, you have a lot of us sending good thoughts and prayers your way. Will hold a good thought for Wed.
yes, that is good to hear.
thank you all!
So glad to have found this site. You are all wonderful people. Am leaving chat now. Back tomorrow. My best to all.

trying to think of a way to externd sympathies and possibly help our neighbors of 30 years
what happened sammy?
ty
ask them what they need at this time
a neighbors tree fell on thier house during the storm last week- damaging roof and chimney.... a few days later . her father died.. funeral was yesterday............. last night, her daughters mother and father in law were overcome with carbon monoxide in thier home and died,,,,,,,..... talk about a week from hell !!
my god!
sounds like our last 2 months:(
wow
the trr is being removed as i speak and they are not there.. my son is over there her kids and my kids , of course grew up together and my grand daughter... all are rallying to give the family services such as cooking meals, baby sitting etc
maybe a nice note and something homemade that you made and tell them you're sorry for all the grief they're under
just be there for them and offer any aid you can in doing daily life chores so they can deal with it all
or maybe offer to run errands for them if their plate is loaded
something simple as having meals pre cooked for them
yes,run errands etc
take care of the small things for them so they are free to take care of the large things
I did that for a neighbor who needed help and she told me it was the greatest gift
yes, we will do that and offer accomadations for out of town guests of theirs... i am already cooking
casseroles, meat pies, lasagne.stuff they can whip out of the freezer and have instant dinners
sounds good sammysmom
we can easily handle 4 guests and more if needed......we have an extra car if they need it
that's the best you can do sammy
i'd like you for a neighbor
guest accomodation will be very handy indeed
as would i
and i am perfectly willing to cry and pray with whomever give hugs and pats and cups of tea
have just replentished my tea stash... i have about 30 types of tea blends-flavors etc
her daughter's in laws didn't have a carbon monoxide detector?
when i was down for 6 months with my second cancer, donated pre made meals were a godsend and the offers for errands and store runs were vital and most appreciated
not that i ate much lol

anyone have the le 6/27?
hi, ruru
I Am Le6 was a recent movie.
that's the 6/24
a le627 may be true -- like the story of Persephone
let me think about that one for a bit
He is a le6 in his own mind. The le6 of Zelda.
ah
*i'm a dummy
Or The le6 of Sleepy Hollow, for those without kids who played video games.
thank you both.. i missed it
all good. we all miss plenty :)
I refused to type in pe4/9 the second because Enable says it doesn't accept abbreviations. Then I remembered that Enable is a big fat liar. : P
yes, le5.14 and sysop are among things it takes that surprise me.
Especially sysop since it is so oblivious to other computer terminology.
yep. :)
well, the 8 was easy once i found the 6
Hi everyone, dc, Molly, ruru
what is the 6? le 6/27?
... an ancient tale ... a story from the dim and distant past ... usually heroic
so the 8 comes from that word? dose?
... that was le6.27
... the 8 comes from ra6/18 ...
I have the le 6/27: Sleepy Hollow. Does the 8 come from that word?
... usually done with food in war time when shortages abound
TY, I was confused. Thought the 8 was from the le 6.
The go 5 for 16 is kiscking my butt
it is a technical term to do woith clothing I think
waiting for, onyx?
... the deity consumed food in the past
oh with a different last vowel
it means an extra bit of fabric inserted into a grament to add flare
hi again all!
Hi sue
all great clues but i am dense
hi glant!
go + you might ***ermine thta you like choclate or be ***ermined to stop smoking
start with a deity, onyx, and monkey from there
Leslieann thanks and everyone else.

hi Stid. I'm afraid I have some bad news. Hetty Clews just died.
I know, Saanich, link to obit in my profile and at babanon
Her obit even mentioned Babble and how much she enjoyed it.
:-)
I have it here. I'll be attending the service and will say a prayer from you.
Thank you. no way I can come up for something mid-week. I have a three-day conference starting Friday in Seattle.
And no one there would know or care if I am missing.
How are you doing, Saanich? Making beautiful art?
I would!
I am thinking of making a solo run north in December, when I have a bit of time the schools are closed.
Stid I am just clearing iust clearing out...all this misery caused by some goof DIY who installed the downstairs loo without a gasket. Actually the clear-out is amost through. It's like building a house! I put in a 'secret room' just for fun!
secret room + fun!
missing gasket = NOT fun...
That's great Stid, see you then, tou can stay here for a bit if you like.
Now back to finish up grid...later

Hello uusue, just sent a little note to Frank on Caring Bridge...how are you holding up?
thanks, GE, the support we have been receiving is wonderful!
Hi Sue and Jilly. Congrats teach.
I am ok, jilly, tired and emotionally all over the map. We have had a lot of visitors and that really helps.
I hope the hospital is close to home for your sake.
crossy is back for more (((suze!))
Sue - just read your updates from today - hope Frank feels a bit better this morning (afternoon or evening - whenever). Your both still in my thoughts.
Hi Crossy
Hang in there uusue and you take care of yourself well..Frank will need you!
thanks liz! and yes, GE, the hospital is in town
howdy liz
yes suze, eat, sleep relax if you can.take care of yourself.frank will need your strngth when he is released
Positive effects of laughter - difficult if you're not feeling like laughing but try!
do not forget to call community care access, they can at leat get you in the files if any in-home nursing is warranted
I can laugh but right now Frank can't, it hurts him too much
I guess it would do post-op!!!! Lol!!!
poor frank, all stitches from stem to stern
and we are lucky that everything is right in town here; both the the hospital and the cancer center are excellent, and are maybe 5-10 minutes from my house.

LOL..good nurse...bad crossy...
i am glad everything is close for you suze
Brave nurse!
(chuckling none the less)
it's convenient for our friends to visit, too, which is really nice
it is ok my hand was being crushed to a pulp by the wife anyways, was glad to let the nurse take over
I know others have said it but support of family and friends is great!
As I said, brave nurse!!!
support is critical:) oh and maybe a nice strip-o-gram if he is looking perky
like your thinking!
might have to wait a couple of days for that, crossy :-)
she can give him the after lunch sponge bath;)))
I already helped him out a bit with some strategically placed talcum powder on some itchy bits :-)
suze, without a word of a lie we have this specialty talc power for sports athletes who sweat a lot and get friction issues it has a nice talc/lannolin combination..you ready for what it is called???
it is called anti-monkey butt talc and anti-friction powder!
love it!
you can get it at the pharmacy here
http://www.antimonkeybutt.com/
pretty funny :-)
works amazing
we have Butt Paste for diaper rash. not quite as good as anti-monkey butt...but close
i used to use it all the time when snowshoing
hello again
wow - almost afraid to read back through chog...lol
just in time smores,we were just discussing butt paste
and anit monkey butt powder
hi smores! it was all my fault :-)
do I even want to know why?
frank has friction....
or i had friction..cannot remember now
really uu? I would have guessed crossy
actually it's more a combination of sweat and anesthesia, which causes itching
oh, okay, makes a little more sense now...lol
lol, stuff really works though and wanted to make suze smile
you think buying condoms as a teen is rough, ttry going up to the pharmacy counter with a bottle of anit money butt talc
lol
butt does it work? butt, get it LOL
well, apparently crossy swears by it
it works
lol
at 6 foot 2 and 250 pounds crossy gets friction hehe especially when snowshoeing

wow crossy that is very cool
one your best tidbits yet
I didn't mean to kill the chog
SeaSpray, I'm so sorry to hear about your dad.
ty nrkii..it's been very hard
How old is he?
We went through this with my father in law exactly one year ago...My Dad is 79
so sad... my thoughts and prayers are with you
Thank you so much....I am hoping he is feeling well enought tomorrow that I can take him out and take him to his beloved farm...he was born there and he loves it
Oh, that sounds like a good plan. I hope he feels well enough! When my dad passed away 2 years ago, I was glad that I had a chance a few months before that to take him to the Marine Corps Museum in Quantico. We didn't know he would leave us so quickly after that, so it was just luck that we managed to make the trip in time.
That is wonderful...My dad owns the farm and went there everyday...My 4 year old granddaughter has been there every weekend since she was 4 weeks old...She went to visit him last night, he was so happy
bbl...going to grab something to eat
be well SeaSpray
ty nrkii...you too
okay, kids and cats are taken care of, time to finish this

hiya jes
hello babblers
TO! how are you? were you okay in the storm?
Hi TO
Hello tO
hi smore, sea, stid. i lost power for 2 ngihts bit ok. famiily not so much
sorry about family
Oh no TO, is your family safe?
they will be ok. they are alive
still no power?
That's what matters
so glad they are alive, the rest they can make it...
those with issues were back on wednesday. doren is still without power though
what happened, TO?
were they able to get gas for generators?
yes, I know she is, but she is with the princess and prince this weekend... :-) hope she's having fun.
stid, sorry about hetty. it is nearly the anniversary of fiona's passing.
yes, I know, and she was one of the first I thought of. Hetty so enjoyed FM's conversations.
((stid))
thanks nrk
Am calling it a night, has been an exhausting 10 days Happy babbling everyone
he nrk. I had not seen hetty for a while, but then again i haven't been around much
sleep sweet, sea
Take care, SeaSpray. Keeping you and your family in my thoughts.
she was mostly lurking the last couple years, her arthritis was so painful
sweet dreams sea, be well.
sea, good wishes. get some rest
Hi TO and Jes too.
Take care Sea, hope things go well tomorrow
evening, nrkii, how goes it?
Prayers are with you and your family
pretty good Jes, thanks... you?
hope you are well nrk, the zombie project this year was fascinating.
not too shabby, though I'm very frustrated with a client, and may end up taking her cat by next week.
oh oh, another one of those, eh jes?
thanks Stid... I picked up 19 more dolls on Thursday, so I will work on them through the year
she is a zombie making machine :)
well at least you have a hobby -- which is oddly and scarily appropriate for the icon in your profile...
ha!!
you make zombie dolls? cool...lol
cat had a really bad anesthetic reaction, tried to die... we got her back, but now she acts like she is blind. I keep telling the owner that I expect improvement for up to 2 weeks, and I can't tell yet how much she will or will no improve, but despite the strikingly obvious changes just since yesterday, the woman is focused on the cat being permanently blind
and apparently thinks that blind = should be euthanized.
oh man, jes... how sad. Poor kitty!
i guess she is in shock. can an animal really go blind in reaction to the anesthetic alone?
Which makes me wonder if she's never met a blind person...
tha's sad jes
Oh jes, that's awful.
My grandmother was blind
well, it's more the concerted attempt at dying that did it, TO. Kitty stopped breathing and had to be respirated for about half an hour before she was breathing steadily on her own again.
smores, yes, started last year with turning perfectly dreadful porcelain dolls into perfectly wonderful zombies
and one of the most amazing women I have ever met
do you have pictures of your dolls, nrkii?
oh no. that is sad.
blind animals can get along okay, I have heard
you have to post some pics nrk
indeed, stid - i've driven a blind cart horse.
i am drifting off... long drive in perfectly awful traffic today
Let me see if I can add pics here
ogion and ged are both in the grid today...
I have a ton up on facebook
oh gee TO. not fun to drive in traffic.
so is Loki
I suppose that's better than driving a cart horse blind...
yeah.. who'd need carrots then
i suppose so, stid :)
do you sell them nrkii?
hi, ru
hey ruru and good
or is your home a museum?
*waves to jes*
my daughter collects the little zombie voodoo dolls
i think i will get read y in case i fall asleep over this half eaten dinner
hi stid
yes jammies to!
which smelled a lot better than it tasted :(
I have one of those smores.. the Karl Rove one
lol...TO
lol ruru...surprised they didn't make a bunch of political ones
yay for jammies!
oh. down to 50 now...
i think i will join the pg crew. went to see a movie but it was sold out :(
PG?
no movies for us... have to recover from whatever hit our bank account last month!
pj. oops.
time to go. nice to see you stiddy
oh
pg makes me sound pregnant
or appropriate for the young crowd
added a few zombie doll pictures
lol
((TO)) same here. Hope I get to see you again soon.
in my profile
I have 39 total dolls now, so these are just a few of the most recent photos I took
those are hideous
as horrifying as i expected.
do you lock them up before you go to sleep?
I'm adding 2 more... should be there in a min
Oh my..they do look scary.
those are pretty seriously creepy, nrkii
hey zoom! *scatters choclits with wild abandon* how are you doing?
The last 2 I added are of the last doll I did. She is the only one with a name: Buffy the Bunny Slayer
i have a friend that would ADORE them though.
how many muffins does your recipe make nrk?
12 muffins, TO... full-size
lol....Love it nrk
i wish i had one now
I have not tried doing mini-muffins or bread yet with that recipe
but i would fall asleep chewing it
I wish I had one too... I almost made some today
and ou could amear them with chocolate cream cheese
I packed away all my zombie kids to go up to the attic yesterday. It's sad, but needs to be done.
well i do have everything including the ghirardelli
Well, I just hope that they stay up there, nrk! *imagining thumps in the attic at 1 in the morning*
sounds yummy
People kept asking, how do you sleep with those in the house? I kept laughing about it, till my vacuum cleaner spontaneously fell over at 3:30 in the morning one night. I was not laughing then.
nrk since the bitter is melted wondering if i could sub oil?
TO, you could try, but I stay very true to the recipe.
Plus, I do love butter. But the consistency would be the same, so I don't see why there'd be any issue.
oh nrk, that is EXACTLY what I would be nervous about! I would sleep with my fish whacking stick under my pillow!
yes. i need to refersh myself on the chemistry. i know it for cookies but i forget about cakes.
And the taste is going to be overpowering spice and chocolate, so I don't think you will notice the diff between oil and butter.
subbing oil for butter can be tricky -- when the butter cools it re-solidifies in recipes, and oil would not.
LOL, stid, it was a high-adrenaline few minutes.
help on the no 6 please?
fish whacking stick? sitid do you have those walking catfish?!
not the id
nbt
An no6/24 word is negative prefix plus Freudian term nrkii
thanks to
no, actually I don't even know when or where I got it. It's like a billy club for conking the fish after you catch them. Works on most fish, but dogfish are really hard to kill. (speaking of gross zombie things)
thanks Min and hello harp!
lol...stid
i am watching dinner at 8 and i am disappointed. except i love hearing billy burke
one more word for fw, and then I'm going to go watch a movie
Harp, I was actually thinking of you today. Introduced Grant to the Koto and he was so intrigued with it! Have you ever attempted to play one?
Hello to my fellow babblers! How is everybody doing today?

hm. ogion, ged AND gont. I wonder if Ms. LeGuin babbles...
i just love the lathe of heaven
Saddest lost tree story I've seen was up in Castine Maine. When Dutch Elm disease hit the east coast, this town went through a huge effort to save their elm trees. They succeeded, and they had a gorgeous tree-filled town. A few years ago, a microburst hit there, and took out a ton of trees. I was up nearby for vacation, and saw them during the cleanup. :(
nbs
