What? All this finishing in 3 minutes?
Oh wait -- one hour and 3 minutes -- I'm a wee bit late.
Very tired after a busy day and infuriating problems with credit card.

I agree

Hello Jilly - Yay you!
hi lyn! It's been lonely here
How is your poor face - all healed now?
Yes...the time changes make a real difference at this time of year
hardly noticeable at all now, thanks, lyn -- well, from a distance.
I think this small grid caused everyone to finish and leave quickly. I was late arriving.
most of the US now tucked up in bed - only leaving night-owls like you around
Just come back for a short while. Hi Lyn and Jilli
hello liz
hi Liz
it's only 11:37 pm here
Have to say, I'm not finding this easy!
so does Canada have the same sort of Daylight Saving time changes as the US?
exactly the same with the excepton of Saskatchewan, which stays on Standard time all year.
Some of the Us states do too -- not sure which ones.
That must be confusing - more so that QLD - it's right in the middle isn't it?
I'm here, but spending way too much time in morewords with all these silly unwords. :P
hi Rosebud
Hi Rbud
And that's why I'm content to call it quite with 38 left, rbud (and hello/gdbye)
might be the smallest grid I ever give up on in disgust, lol
Sleep well Jilli
*quits, not quite
Goodnight Jilli - sweet dreams
I'm down to 34 left now, nite, jilli
goodnight all and happy babbling haha...*poof
wow, even the small words aren't normal, what an odd grid
well, lots of them, anyway, more than usual

thank you Glan for the su7,the composite words always elude me...by the way where in Wales are you? (I'm in Cardiff)
just realised that I'm talking to myself!!
hello
anybody home?
What's up Ruby? : )
my computer is driving me crazy (crazier?)
trying to print an easyJet ticket, not easy!
how are you, molly?
Isn't it brand new?
brand new in 2000~
I need more coffee. For some reason, I thought you just got a new computer. When is your weekend away?
14-17 dec
You must be so excited.
happy, but not excited. Too much to do between now and then.
but I am relaly looking forward to it and have made good arrangements for help for husband and dogs
It will do you a world of good to get away.
am** to that!
mane
whoops, sorry
maybe I am excited....
: )
When was the last time you took a trip?
1 1/2 or 2 yrs, I can't remember exactly, but it was also to London
we used to travel a lot, but DH can't any more and it's very hard to leave the dogs
the big problem will be airport walking. I may use a wheel chair (which I've done in the past)
Oh, get a segueway. I can just see you whizzing through the airport on a segueway.
what's a segueway?
Those things you stand on with two wheels. Airport security uses them.
too funny
I've never seen one
Good Morning Ruby, Molly :)

hello smores; it's "post-lunch" here

I thought segue was just a musical term, lol
Make me think of that Kevin James movie
Kevn James? I think I've been gone too long
very stupid, yet funny, movie called Paul Blart, Mall Cop
sometimes I like silly movies, e.g. last week I saw Ted.
This week I saw Amour, the antithesis of silly -- terribly sad movie about getting old
Hello
hiya BR
helloBR
Hi all - on a very warm QLD evening!
warm sounds good to me, liz
I guess from a November day in France, it would!
Hello Liz - on a very cold, sun aint up yet Indiana morning
it is cold and damp and foggy; the lake is invisible
You both have my sympathy about the weather!
It's one of the things that made QLD such an attractive place to live!
Heatwave here again: 32°F
I made this choice, however, and it beats Miami's 2 seasons: hot and hot & humid
wow, that is very hot indeed
Yeuch! F not C ruby!!!!
It's funny how quickly you adapt to climate change.
aaah, didn't see the F
I still don't like humidity though.
I don't mind humidity so much, but Miami had terrible mosquitos
We have them too and I react nastily. So in summer, lots of anti-mosi cream!
But still, wouldn't move back to London (except to see family and friends)
so far, unless it warms up more, we haven't had mosquitos here
hope it stays that way
People will soon need to do more than adapt to climate change ... survival depends on change. Humans must colonize planets in other solar systems — traveling there using "Star Trek"-style propulsion — or face extinction, renowned British cosmologist Stephen Hawking said Thursday.
we have much less snow now than we did 15 yrs ago when we moved here
no hard frost these past two years
Thats an exciting thought BR - but not in the lifetimes of most of us.
I see human adaptation to texting happening - stronger elongated thumb and first finger!!!!!!!
I'd be a great texter with very long thumbs but, unfortunately, no phone
But then I guess texting will be superceded before long!
And your sentiments are those of the vast majority. I fear many will die before the urgency of change is accepted.
many are scared of change
:) BR
When purported leaders play politics with lives it is wrong but all too common.
agreed...definately wrong
True :)
stats for the 7's, pls, for nbs?
" :) BR" was for the Stephen Hawking comment, chat seems to be delayed

Bye Ruby. Enjoy your day. Keep warm!
Be well, Ruby.
bye and tks
And with 25 left for tomorrow, I think I'll give up for tonight. Too many weird words in this grid!!!! Enjoy your days :)
and I'm back
ok nbt/nbs - got both 7's - be back later

NICE one BR!!!! LOLOLOL
hehe
cancer sucks. I hate it so much right now. It is kicking the ass of some very good friends of mine right now, and I'm FURIOUS. Daughter was diagnosed about 4 months ago, mother diagnosed 4 weeks ago.
clue for ru6/21 please
oh, that is awful, trif!
wow, I am not seeing the words today. am I still asleep, or are they "fake" words I don't know? btw, 'morning, y'all.
it BLOWS. my poor friend was fighting to save her daughter, and now is in a fight and a half for her own life.
i am so sorry trif seems everyone i know has friends or family with cancer.i hope it is just better diagnosis and the medical teams cathing things earlier and thus more treatable and not a general upswing in cancer cases
love and hugs and light and hope to your friends, trif
I must admit - we did get to laughing when medical marijuana passed here last week. You have to find the humor where you can, right? We were all "oooh, Amy, it's about to get WIDE at your house!" and teasing her about the constant "brownie" deliveries
ru + a trig function
thanks, BR!
switch the first two letters for a bear ur6
ty babble
trif, one of the very elderly ladies from my church came to visit Frank the other day, and asked if marijuana would help him :-)
I thought that said "big function" and I was looking for fete, gala, etc. DUH
ROCK ON old church lady! what, she could score him a dime bag? hahaha
we have had legal medical mary-jane here for years, but most doctors do not approve so they bottle neck it at the source so what we did was decriminalize one ounce or less in a single bag for personable use.it is now just technically a ticketable offense
medical marihuana? not sure I want to get treated by medical personnel on pot
old church ladies KILL ME - I had one, right after my divorce, tell me "the best way to get over a man is to get under another" and then continued to tell me how she tried "the other side" and that didn't work either.....sweet JESUS!
she might, trif, I have learned not to sell them short!
have to watch those church ladies.why do you think all us guys used to kill ourselves to date the parsons daughter hehe
I want to be one when I grow up. remind me, okay?
suicide does not seem a particularly appropriate date activity
uh.....no
in all seriousness,i wish i had medical weed when i had my cancers.it stops nausea, increaSES appitite, relieves pain and is a whole lot better than the chemical cocktails they forced down my throat
well, when we get to that point we may very well try it (although I don't think Illinois is one of the states where it's legal)
(((((crossy))))))
i still pay the price for cisplatin chemotherapy
okay, work beckons. have a great day all. the weather here today looks to be positively FOUL, so my hour commute to the off site student should be a real treat!
(9trif))
Be safe, Trifioso
big kisses
Sorry about Frank, Sue. Did his diet change?
the fish and rice were too soon maybe?
eggs and hash browns yesterday morning too
anyway surgeon just came in, they will repeat last night's x ray. right now there are several possibilities
could be that he's just not ready to eat yet
could be that one of the places where his intestine is sewed together is leaking
could be Crohn's again
but we will probably be here for another couple of days at least
morning all and how many words today and thanks

(((Annie))) I got it and I will write back this today. I was just thrilled to get your email.

I made a post on Facebook in the babble community that you were home. So many were asking about you.
I bet you are and I bet Bobby is too
can only imagine, Annie!
good morning babblers!
Bobby cannot wait to go to work today. He is getting ready to leave.

Hi car and crossy
Good morning Darling!!!!!
Owl, yes, I was in CT
oh boy, i;d bet et movin though I don't want to
upshot is he still can't eat, may just be part of normal healing process (which can be slow) or there may be something else going on, which they are investigating
well i have never been where dinner will be. i think it is norwalk
Are you feeling better, car?
I am praying for their wisdom uusue.
((car.)) that is so nice of you. I have friends here who will help out but thanks very much.
Hi BR! About the same, but not as sleepy.
annie how is your nj daughter?
thanks, car! the surgeon is quite excellent, and he listens to me too, which is nice
Ok, Annie. If anything comes up short, you let me know.
okay, (((car.))) I will.
and now it is time for crossy,s tidbit of the day!!
The black pirate flag known as the "Jolly Roger" was originally a bright red French "surrender-or-die" banner known as the "Jolie Rouge."
Owl, my daughter lives in ct. not nj.
LOL! That is awesome!
sorry, i thought you had nj as well
time to go
Bye TO! Glad to see you! Have a great day!
Bye bye ((TO))
I would have asked the pirates for more options
Oh uusue, I am so sorry to hear of his set back.
They had rum...what options do they really need?
mmm..rum....
Owl, When I got to CT. my daughter lost power and we all moved to Norwalk to her motherinlaw's house for 5 days and then back to Wilton where she lives. I was a nomad. Her inlaws were in AZ so the house was empty.
Wow...what luck that the house was empty.
when do they think your grid will be fully restored annie?
time for breakfast - must go for now - have a great day everyone
bye bye ((River))
annie, my brother had his inlaws who as of tueday still do not have power. his beach home and the cook's beach homes were badly flooded
Bye River!!! Have a wonderful day!
norwalk is very nice from what i hear
Annie...not to sound stalker-ish...what area are you in?
TO, how awful for your brother and his in laws
hi crossy, the notice that was sent around said the timeline is "indefinite".
...And how bad is it?
Doren wrote me day before yesterday I think it was that she finally has electric after 12 days
nice of them to narrow it down for you:(
yes. wonder if she got her tree off the roof yet?
I asked her but she hasn't answered yet
Thank goodness for the generators, Annie
Owl, Yes, CT was hit pretty hard. Homes near the shore were destroyed. I feel badly for them/
Tree is off
wow but you are near the shoreline as well, no?
Poor Dorens. If anyone hears from her and she needs anything, please let me know.
oh good ty br
Oh that is good to know, BR.
alas poor ur**,i knew him well lol

Crossy, how is Elegant?
Owl, yes but I am on the 23rd floor so no damage to me. Glad Dorens has power.
I will Car. I plays some games with her on FB
and we email
she is doing ok.the worst of the legalities are past now and she is grieving in her way
Give her my love, please, Crossy.
((Elegant))
give her a hug for me, Crossy and let her know I am thinking of her please
good to hear our little corner of the east is returning to normal
I am glad that everyone is accounted for an safe in our little babble world. :-)
All our NJ/NY Babblers are accounted for then, correct?

oh no you don't!!!
TO, after my brother died, my dad said that some people at work would avoid him, probably because they had no idea what to say - was difficult for him
OK, guys, now I'm really frustrated. Can't get more than 24 words right now. Hey, I don't need this game to make me feel stupid....I can do that all by myself.
Hi mimicat!
sue - exactly.
Hi, car!
Mom, I agree!! Babble has become a wonderful support community for me, and I have now met quite a few lovely babblers in person
hello mimicat
LOL!
they think it makes you feel bad to ive condolences, but it is the opposite
hi mimi!
Mimi...these little ones can be buggers! Hang in there! We can help you!
Hi, Mom and everyone! Am really having a DUH morning.
however, if the people who say nothing are people who would be likely to say the wrong thing, perhaps it all works out for the best
it isn't you, mimi cat, it is the grid
exactly, TO - even saying "I don't know what to say" would be better
lol there is a traffic jam on the turnpike and they attribute it to a woman giving birth!
woohoo
Oh Mimi! That was totally me yesterday!
well, that would slow things down, TO!
b rinier
a woman giving birth on the turnpike? poor thing
thanks Tanja and hello
well i don't think she is in the middle of the road but still.... oh my!
Hi Mimi :)
That woman might as well get used to it....her life will be just like a turnpike from now on with a new baby.
but if she is in the car, brrrr
LOL! Good point mimi!
lol, mimi!
is that an attempt to avoid the PB?
Hi, smores!
lol mimi
lol...kid causing problems right from the start
actually i feel a little bad for the kid too - probably will never hear the end of it.
Yep---wonder if this is a preview of the way that child is going to be.

Oh my goodness, Judi!!!1 LOL!
maybe you are right judi
ru _ trig function
I believe in that, too, crossy. I just want to come back as the child of one of my children and get even! Wow, sounds mean, huh? Deserved, though
TY WV!

yvw
oh but mimi then you wouldn't get to enjoy your grandchildren, cause you'd BE them
Wooohooo!!! Congrats Hurshy!
mimi, you are thinking outside the box today! i love it..coming back as my sons child hehe
Now, as a sea turtle, you would get to swim the oceans at your leisure, eat all the jellyfish you can find, and live a nice long life.
Just found ur 6/21...bear like
Actually, I'm not keen on coming back at all. Saw "the other side" when I nearly died and it's much more pleasant there. The haunting would be good, though!
I want to drink from the River Lethe
Wow Mimi!
Lethe is more (so they say).

The real one or the mythological one BR?
mythological .... then I could write my amnesia chronicles
I've told my family when I go to donate whatever anybody can use (including for whatever research might be useful) and then cremate the rest.
I am with you uusue!
amnesia chronicles would be rather brief, I would think...
LOL!
Ditto, sue.
OK--enough death talk. I saw a great movie over the weekend---Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close. Got the whole first season of Homeland coming today. Have carried a donor card for years, sue. Just makes sense.
how was that movie mimi? i have heard good things about it
As a judge told me, you never want to be caught with your brief's down
*snort*
It's one you want to attentively watch. The child actor is fabulous and it's his first movie. I also watched The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and Bridesmaids and found both disappointing. Netflix has a free month of DVD's so I'm taking advantage of it and getting 3 at a time.
I told the judge with remarks like that he would lose his appeal
OK...I need to get going with my day. I wish you all a wonderful day! {[hugs}} all around!
Be well, Car
BR, oh, no!!
tc car
Bye, car and hugs right back!
there ARE words in this grid right?
I'm not even trying to find words anymore, crossy. Just enjoy chatting with everyone. But leaving for now. Maybe I'll feel smarter later....hehe, right.
red box of doom here
uh oh....red boxes of doom
Besides, I have a cat that wants attention and he keeps getting on my head.

tough little grid
I put the cats outside by a sign that said, "Mouse Crossing."
I have 3 and this particular one periodically has seizures. But his personality is amazing. They were all strays but now they're mine.
I also have 3
We're practically twins, smores! OK--definitely leaving now. Good day, all.
Bye Mimi, enjoy your day :) - see ya soon
hard to believe there are more M's than anything else
very odd little grid today
Good morning all

yaa for sprite!! i also had a miracle and got 5 and a half solid hours:)

Hi everyone

howdy seaspray
hi Sea

managed to not nap today... hope for a longer night tonight. *fingers crossed* Full therapy day tomorrow, so it would be nice.
hi dobie
morning all - was excited to see a small grid today - but I am struggling
it is a toughie
the smaller ones are often nasty
worst of the tiny toughies is I always end up with all the biggies missing. Can't even imagine any 7 in this little beast.
Fireworks, but my brain is now tied in knots.
the first day in two weeks that I can actually enjoy a grid and it's a small one...go figure
wtg Judi!
yaa for judi!
congrats Judi
it might keep you occupied for a bit though, SSpray
I humbly offer clues.
wd judi
ur 5 12 seems to be present often of late
so I understand sprite
ok,can i have a clue for everything except su 7/44 please/ lol
indeed
lol crossy
I was thinking the same thing jmb
Ha, Crossy. How about the br7: more salty.

Hi sue

M's mutilated!!
is anyone familiar with chemo in the pill form?
I hate this grid
*twiddles thumbs* Now what should I do with the rest of my day?
well, at this point I don't think he really wants breakfast
any food for Frank today?
not yet, sea
not personally, no. Friends of mine have it.
i have heard of it,but they always stuck me full of iv,s for my chemos
hi mael, it is a toughie indeed
or is back on liquids?
Judi: clean da house! Do da laundry! Read a book! Take a walk!
poor Frank :(
nothing by mouth, smores
my dad is too weak for the iv...pill is a possibility, I will find out for sure today
hi sprite, hi all
((((sea))))
It seems odd that they would consider pill form chemo, given that Frank has intestinal problems.
I am at work, Sprite. Not a whole lot to do. I could bust up the cardboard for recycling.
no, that's sea's dad, judi, we haven't really started thinking about chemo yet
is Frank doing better?
I was looking for some mindless entertainment before I have to leave to go to PT, and I get this grid instead :)
sorry for the confusion
i am sorry about your da ((seaspray))
Oh! Sorry, sue. Color me confused.
Judi, try this: http://www.eastoftheweb.com/game\ns/Eight1.html
ty crossy...he is very ill...hoping for the best
lol mael!
but they will be installing a port so at least some will be IV, I just don't know if they will do some oral as well (just me being aware of what I don't know, which is pretty much everything at this point)
((((sea))))
best wishes, sea and sue
Thanks, spritey. I'll give it a try. Later, kids! *POOF*
:) mael, chat is always good mindless entertainment...lol
sorry to hear about your dad, SSpray. A husband of a friend of mine is treated with pills. Has had several treatments. So far good results.
I apologise for not tinyURLling that...
Sue...they did install a port in my dad in hopes that he would be able to do the iv...
Bye Judi - enjoy your day :)
Thank you sprite...that is encouraging
well, all the best to him, sea!
friend's husband is also too weak for IV. Last check the growth had stopped completely and there was even a little bit of remission visible.
ty sprite and sue...all my best to you and Frank as well
now, back to this nasty grid lol
yvw, and *grin* I still have zero 6s! But thanks to you guys at least I have the 7s.
five minutes before I have to bail, the bus schedule is ridiculous so I have to leave 45 minuted before my appointment for a ten minute bus ride

hi jes :)
how goes, kate?
just got here - it's not a very friendly grid today... or i'm blind!
hi again all!
hey sue!
kate, I think you were right the first time (it's the grid, not you)
hi sue, frank feeling any better today?
thanks, it's pretty quiet in babbleland, figured everyone's finished
well, jes, it's been a hell of a trip today
he was getting sicker and sicker (nausea and gas) and they took him for emergency surgery this morning
that sounds.... mixed.
another surgery? no fun. hope they found what was causing the pain though
turned out to be a problem with the end of his colon near the ostomy site (it had died, although not much of it)
ah. yeah, that'd do it
but the other end of his colon had healed just fine, so they reversed the ostomy!
(since it was there to protect the healing of the other end). So he will need a few days to recover, but no bag and assuming no further problems he should be fine.
well that's good :)
he is pretty out of it still but is excited by the news.
The surgeon had a big grin on his face when he came into the room.
always a promising sign :)
nbt
sorry, things keep happening here...
no worries. i've just hit the point where i'm staring at the grid hoping for more words to fall out :)
:-)
Well, I must say, I am impressed with how fast they can get someone into emergency surgery when they decide that's what needs to happen!
that's what you're supposed to do in an emergency :D
well, I know, but it still seemed pretty fast. It was less than half an hour between when the surgeon came in and explained what he wanted to do (operate now rather than doing a wait-and-see) and when Frank was wheeled out.
nice to have a surgeon that's "on it".
I am very impressed with him.
His instincts were spot on.
big relief to have a doctor you like :)
indeed. He also is the type who likes to explain things (with diagrams), which I like a lot.
A smiling communicative surgeon. There's nothing more you could ask. Happy thoughts for Frank. It sounds like he's going to be fine.
I hope so, Sally! He's by no means out of the woods yet, but he is a lot better now than we thought he might be
The vast majority of clients i have that come here from another clinic are dissatisfied because of lack of communication. It's very important to talk to your clients!
Indeed. I am the same way with the students in our department (I am the chair)
does anyone have the su 7/44? i'm down to the last 12 words (ty lickety!), but am running out of time and must shamelessly beg for clues now
speaking of clients, looks like my lunch break is over...
hope Frank has a fast recovery from surgery, sue :)

hi sue!

Was very heartened by the ostomy reversal! And glad he has a central line and will get nutrition. That will help his body heal and prepare for chemo!
He has a lot more healing to do, and there is still a risk of infection, but SOOO much better than this morning!
and yes, reversing the ostomy is going to do wonders for him psychologically.
woo hoo uu sue!
nbt and nbs...now for the other 52,,,
great news, sue!
I'll tell you, though, if I never again have a day like today I will be perfectly happy.

How about we erase the last 24 hours?
cani havesome aclues please
Well, 24 hours ago he was pretty sick...I like where we are now, just not the way we got here!
hi cool, what do you need?
gah, I keep typing rubric
hi most of them
am6 is the goofy one. am + vowel + brand of ballpoint pen (3 letters)
nice one, gwen! like little single-celled animals.
finally firewords. These small ones can be tough
ty
And from the nurse..am6= am**** dysentary...
woo hoo bw!
yay book!
that am 6 was my last word
WooT WooT WooT bookwomen!
wtg book women !!!!!!!! @@ !!!!!!!!

su7,44 and br7,36
br7/36
tx all!
good night everyone. enjoy the grid
it was the same am6, cool
yep, the am6 is an adjective for little one-celled critters, alternate spelling
Niters bookwomen
okaytys
night, bookwomen!
I think putting ONLY in capital letters is the ONLY way to get stats ONLY : P
Hi molly, how are you today?
Eh, okay Jilly, and you?
hi molly!
unfortunately, i ONLY monkeyed the br7, and now must ask for a su clue
ray of light the cat sleeps in, dan
Hi Sue, I read about Frank's surgery today. Glad that seems to be helping.
i have typed in "anemic" like 34 times already
oh duh. ty sue
yes, it was another one of those lifesaving things. What a roller coaster today was!
Meh here too Molly, of course as usual, I get a cold bug post-airline trip....
Oh, sorry you're sick Jilly. I did my first shopping of the silly season today and that usually gets me humbug-y.
su is a bright shaft of light, compund word
Wow, easy once you have a clue...twisty little thing..ty BDgwen!
Well, not feeling horrible or anything, just runny nose and blah...and cursing airflight air!
uusue, just read Frank's update and am so happy you are here! What wonderful news that the dreaded bag is gone and that healing is going on inspite of yesterday. I am glad the surgeons did not stall around like they did before.

go BDG go
and things are exploding over here!
WooT WooT WooT Gwen!
woo hoo! uno here
hi bugs, they didn't really stall around much before either, we got the diagnosis a week ago Monday and he was in surgery on Friday. I feel like I've been on some kind of insane roller coaster.
by last word was a sneaky little be4,7, not a common word
yay gwen!
I thot they were stalling around when they wouldn't see him to make a diagnoses, not after the diagnoses was made
suddenly i feel hungry enough to eat a horse. a really really small one
*biting tongue on American health system*
firewords! me6 the 2nd one was my last. tx all cluers
american health care in 2 steps: *open wallet, extract bills*
wtg dan2bit !!!!!! @@ !!!!!!
(35 year veteran of the system) Make that no insurance...no care
WooT WooT WooT dan2!!
I don't want to stir things up but I wish there was less resistance to universal health care. It is not perfect here with waits for surgury sometimes, but everyone can see a doctor at any time with ease.
YAY dan2
I agree bugsaw, my brother-in-law is a Canadian...
And, let's mention the low cost...
i'd be happy to take a system with some wait time in it over one we have now (in which one simply avoids getting sick, no medical, no dental, no optical, apart from pay as you go)
oh.. we're talking about universal health care?
I quit
*hugs ruru*
*cues up dramatic violin music*
we do have to pay but most employers pay half of the monthly premium because they want healthy workers. It helps
back from LALA land and glad for a small grid
ok, sorry, went away a bit. Most of the stalling was done by Frank. I had to find a GI doctor who would see him but that didn't slow us down; it happened in parallel with getting him into the emergency room.
Bugsaw, I am paying $865 a month to cover myself and my spouse...and the employer pays 1/2 (not full time)
LaLa land?
Los Angeles
..Los Angeles...
The $865 is on top of what my employer pays..to be clear
What in the world were you doing there??!!
jilly, holy CRAP!
A dinner in santa Monica
And the only good news is that with his disability, he will qualify for medicare in 10 more months...
i can't wait to get me some obamacare . . .
$865 a month is huge
WHAT?!! Jilly that is ridiculous. I live on less than that
Tell me about it! I cannot wait for the 10 months, then to cover me it will drop $600
Thankfully, I have been here 23 years and am top of scale for RN's, work about 30/week, so we are able to make it...but I do have two jobs for the 30 hr plus a 3rd job in youth ministry with monthly stipend that helps..
The people who don't want universal health care are the people with cush jobs, where their health care benefits are all paid for.
I just retired and have to pay $87/month for the 2 of us each month. If I had worked for one more year I wud only pay $58/ month
Or our legislators....
I'm not sure I'll ever get to retire..
$87 per month for health care is nothing. Oh I wish
well, to those people who don't want universal health care, i say a pox upon you!
*heavy sigh* me too....
LOL BDG!
uusue I did not realise that Frank was balking. I am not suprised but with all that pain I thot he wud be more willing much sooner. I am so sorry he had to suffer so long
<--Trying to figure out where I could live on less than $865 per month.
*googling that for molly*
<--Scared of the answer
the trick is to have your house paid off Molly. It is one of the perks of old age
10...
We did that years ago. Now all we have to worry about is taxes rising
* real estate mainly
I know exactly two people who have their houses paid off. Neither of them have kids. Without all the expenses that kids would have laid on them, they were able to pay their mortgages off early. It's a trade off I guess.
We had two kids, sent them to college. But, we lived very frugally to pay off the mortgage
Oh, and one of them has a six figure salary.
We certainly never had that. We just like living simply
exactly bichon. I have a small house and have always lively carefully
<---FW!! ur6/21 was my last
keep the faith Molly. it gets better as your kids get older and take on more responsibility for themselves
YAY Jilly
Well, my kids are all over 20.
I wouldn't even elaborate here how we live so frugally, but let's just say, we take out the maximum in Roth IRA's every year. Hubby still working
Well, am VERY anxious to see what happens to Medicare, Social Security. I am in that group that isn't supposedly "close to retirment"...I'm 54...
We had kids young and after college, they were on their own. We both worked and focused on saving for our retirement
Exactly what can I do within 10-13 years!
Well Bichon, we were doing the exact same thing...until hubby got sick..
That is the problem. You can live carefully for years and something unexpected can toss you right over the cliff.
there cud be a cultural difference too Molly. Canadian parents expect their kids to help with their college education expenses. It seems that the US kids expect everything they had at home to be paid for by parents.
That is not true. Everyone I know who has college age kids, the kids are working to help pay for their college. Not all American kids are spoon fed.
I am glad to hear that Molly. So much that we see on tv is not accurate but unless you have it explained, we might never know that. Thanks
Not in my case, our oldest is being paid by GI bill, the youngest got grants, scholarships and loans. We have had to help only once with youngest repayment in 2009 when he was under-employed, and may have to help oldest with his last semester.
Well, must drag my sick bottom off couch and begin to fix something for dinner...
*poof*
That is how the people I know here help their kids too. I am happy to have that misconception vanquished
hope you feel better soon Jilly
Hi Bugs. Just starting but also cooking oatmeal cookies. Nice day to have spices in the air.
Good morning. Come to have a go at my last 15! Def need lickety's list though!
hope you are moving around gingerly in the kitchen stidg
Hi liz. Just evening here. Still light although it will be black as a witches heart in an hour.
Actually no ginger in the cookies. The spices are vanilla, lemon, and cinnamon.
hi all. how is the grid today?
It's 10.19 am here - Just left some bread to prove before it goes into the oven in 45 mins! Obviously time to cook! Lovely sounding spicing for your cookies.
why are the e's where the words arent doable? hmm looks like a tough grid.
The cookies sound good, Gran Mere. I bet it smells wonderful in your house.
hi again - back for my last few
I'm finding it hard! Lots of odd words - def need list
mmm....cookies
Yes, Molly and we could put a kettle on for tea. Always ready to visit (not really but it sounds very hospitable.)
This recipe is based on one my Grandmother used. I've transitioned it to ingredients I prefer. The original recipe calls for mace. I don't use enough of that to buy a bottle.
I love oatmeal cookies
Could you use nutmeg instead of mace? But I love vanilla and lemon.
Actually I did put in a springkle of nutmeg because my husband loves that flavor.
Bet your house smells lovely right now!
What is better than Gran Mere's kitchen with warm cookies and hot tea? : D
They say bake brownies if you have a house for sale. It makes people think the house is more homey.
you're really making me want some cookies :)
lol...when I was about 8 we sold our house and I remember my Mom making fresh cinnamon bread every time someone was coming to look at it
any clues for the two 7s?
br7/36, more salty
su7 = rays of light
baking yummy things that smell good is super when selling a house.
HIya Sue :)
hi smores!
Hi Sue - glad Frank's latest surgery seems to have helped.
It did, liz.
but it was scary.
pop popcorn and it is also good. bake bread and it smells great. boil cinnamin and it smells heavenly. i imagine it would work with fried onions, vanilla, hazelnut etc.
I bet - you must be exhaused too!
I am still full from dinner, but now I want dessert...lol
I really am, liz, I should sleep well tonight!
Go with it Sue - you need the rest!
ty for super clues for the 7s. got them both.
I bet sue - how is Frank today?

later lizlin, enjoy your day!
Bye Liz, have a great day :)
sort of smores, my first professional conference! The national social studies convention is in Seattle, which is in striking distance for me. So I decided to increase our family's debt burden and go now, since usually they are places like D.C. and New Orleans...
you have both my praise and sympathy stid...also include teachers in my prayers
Oh yes, I think you mentioned it before.
thanks smores. I love teaching. Hoping going to this conference will give me more confidence if I ever get another job interview (I do poorly on interviews). Also, it will be FUN to geek out with other history nerds! :-)
*meant always not also
and my HERO Sandra Day O'Connor will be there Saturday to do a nationalization ceremony. I will be SO there!
Well, I wish you a enjoyable and safe journey :)
thanks smores, leaving at 5:30 tomorrow to drive up. First workshop 9 am!
Oh that is wonderful
how far a drive is it?
at rush hour it could take 4 hours, leaving at 5:30 probably about 2.
so you'll have a little time to get checked in before the 1st workshop, that's good
that's my plan. reconnoiter, plan, maybe meet a few other early birds.
Do you have a full schedule of workshops or will you have some chill time?
I didn't pay for the opening breakfast, Sort of blew my wad on the basic conference cost and then had to borrow a bit to afford a hotel. LOL I wasn't organized enough to try for a scholarship to attend!
oh! that's NBT and up to 50. :-D
YAY!!!
I have marked at least two workshops I want to attend for every hour of conference time, but there are a couple of long breaks each day. The exhibitor hall should be a lot of fun.
I sort of "tagged along" when a friend was at the MLA conference in SEattle last January, so I have a small idea what to expet.
That sounds nice.
or expect.
I am wondering if ruru is going to share any more wonderful clues... maybe a 7? *hopeful mama look*
simean: a cranky chimp
discribes my monkeys after this grid :)

And Good Evening Everybody! How are you this evening?
Hi Nef. I'm okay, how about you?
I'm okay too
mire
Oops; off to PB for me
There you go, 5 points. : )
darn phones! Both my cell phone and the house phone are keeping me from chatting here tonight!
Hello all! Quick entrance to post my story of clues. I'll BBL!
The na4/5 of this story is "Going to the Movies". I do not go to the movie theater very often and when I do,it is a pain to get there. I live in an ar 4/4 where the ci6/24 is a half hour away.I drive like a ma5/12c so I do not miss the previews. If it's ra4/4ing it takes even longer to get there. Then when I get there I have to deal with the me 4/5 ticket person who has an attitude. By the time I sit down, my mood is ru4/5ed and I do not want to see the movie anymore. Therefore,I watch most of my movies at home on NetFlix.Speaking of which,I'm going to get off my an4/5 & go watch the movie State and Ma4/5.Adios
