Oh, you need clues for those?
Hi all :)
hi Liz
ca7,36 -- Latin plural of ca6,24: a surgical tool.
Hi Lizlin. :)
guess I now know why I couldn't find it!
only surgical tools I know are clamps and scalpels
ca7,32 = Latin plural of ca6,12: a series of writings of the fathers of the Christian church.
Well not a clamp or scalpel... but a kind of tube for draining fluid.
Not helpful!!!!!! LOL!
ca + word for zero, minus one "L", + vowel
agreed liz!
Well sorry. I'm trying. :/
Wow. Maybe I should give up. :/
ty neil -- got that
Now that last one was good!!!! :) Just not up on Christian writings!

That's in my mom's apartment when we were visiting her one day... that's Charlie's favorite spot when I'm over there, haha.
Here most dogs are outdoor dogs, which I find strange
Charlie obviously knows a soft touch!!!!
Yeah. Why have dogs just to leave them outside?
All the time, like.
They need to be outside some of the time.
And yeah, he sure does.
I don't understand it! Yes of course they need to walk and run and investigate smells!
Yep.
But they're also there as pets, in my opinion to be spoilt!!!!
And pee on stuff. :P
He's gotta mark his territory.
:(
Yeah but outdoors!!!!
And yes... in my opinion too.
Aren't they family members? He sure is.
over halfway
So it's kind of appropriate I guess, that he looks like a little lamb. Haha!
Knew I liked you! They're people aren't they?
Of course.
Innocent look of guilty dog - who me? I didn't grab the meat of the kitchen table when you weren't there!!!!
Yeah. It just jumped off the table by itself.
As our dog did one shabbat, when I was growing up!
Oh you're Jewish too?
You noticed!
Well duh. :P
Kinda hard to miss with me isn't it? Hanukkah/latke photos aside... I think it's pretty obvious.
But I can't see any photos of you.
OK - got to go. Just back from the gym but couldn't resist peeking at the grid before showering! Yuck!
Well - with chanukah greetings and not celebrating Christmas ...
Oh ok... enjoy your shower.
I post them on facebook
Well I've never seen any of that.
I probably wasn't here if/when you posted Hanukkah greetings or mentioned not doing Christmas.
Even when I am here I'm often not at the computer.
We're off to bed now... work in the am. So good night/day and take care.
I tend to leave my computer on when I'm not here too. Really must go now - sleep well :)

Hi ((ruby))
makes me think of spring!
Is your building still on generators, annie?
Yes, ruby, sadly to say
the wheels have come off here, too, the hot water heater, the fridge, the new car, (me). Fortunately, I've been able to get various repairmen, even on this holiday long weekend\
at least you were able to get them all repaired, I hope
not the fridge, though
at least it's so cold that I can empty it tomorrow and put stuff outside
It is very cold here too. I bundle up so that I barely fit into my compact car.
it's hard to do all this stuff myself as Burt is no help. He does his finite chores (food shopping, bird and fish feeding and dog walking -- and i TRULY appreciate that -- but the rest is all on me
that's a funny image, annie, like one of those little kids in a snowsuit whose arms and legs won't bend!
ruby, I know it is hard to be a caretaker but the food shopping is a big help. The picture you painted..that's me.
or is the word caregiver. Either way, it is not easy.
it's true, if I had to shop as well as cook, it would be too much -- and most of the food is for him and the pups anyway. I'd be happy with an egg sandwich!
so would I. I do a lot of cooking because Bobby has to eat too but I don't mind.
Morning Ruby. I'm lucky, my son is a big help with the chores. : )
there is a very big book, just out, which makes me think of you. It is called "Far From the Tree" by Andrew Solomon and is about horizontal identities in families, whether through color, disability, sexual preference or anomaly. It is fascinating and adds totally new insights into those questions for me
you've trained him well, molly. When my son is here, he, too, helps, but unfortunately he's rather far away.....
I'm not sure I agree with a lot of Solomon's points in that book. But it's an interesting read nonetheless.
for nbt, may I have stats for the y and the a and n underneath it
have you finished it? I just started it yesterday as it was my Christmas present to me

I got an Amazon gift card for $150 from one of the internet people I work for and I was like a kid in the candy store.
and I got a Barnes and Noble gift card and I cant wait to go. I much prefer Amazon as the books are less in cost.
those are great gifts!
good morning my babble friends:)
I got a Barnes & Noble gift card from one of my sons. I have already spent it. : D
I didn't buy gifts this year but sent Jung's Red Book to my niece in London for her birthday. She's a psychologist and was knocked out. I used Amazon.uk
{{crossy}}
((ruby))
Hi crossy :)
howdy annie:))
Amazon is my go to for internet shopping. And I have a prime membership so most things are free two day shipping.
what they're not so good for is food; international shipping is too expensive and things can arrive broken with very difficult recourse
The only place I order food from is Harry & David.
they use a lot of different distributors, alll over the place. I hd American stuff arrive from South Africa. Go figure!
Oh, and Omaha Steaks.
I used to order from Omaha steaks when I lived in Miami, what a pleasure!
What is Harry & David?
If you catch their specials with free shipping, it's a very nice gift for someone. Harry & David is another food distributor. They do a lot of fruit and it's very good.
couldn't find the na4 and don't have an 8 or any 7's, but otherwise, cranking out the words

please pray for my cat marty. he won't eat at all this morning. i am taking him for xrays and stuff soon.
hope the exam turns out ok
what other symtoms is he showing?
good day to you all
((sprite))
crossy :) *hug* hursh, am holding him close in my thoughts... poor cat. I hope it will be minor and he will be fine soon
morning Babblers :)
hi Nanette :)
I also hope its nothing serious for Marty, Hurshy
I recently had to give up my cat and have decided not to try with another one although I do miss him terribly
give yourself at least time to mourn him. Having to let go a pet is really painful.
Sprite he did not pass but I had to give him to someone who could keep him as an outdoor cat as he developed some very nasty habits
aw that is nasty! So sorry to hear that.
getting another cat anytime soon would only revisit those habits I think
if you feel the habits were a reaction to set circumstances, I think you are right.
possibly but the fact that scents stay around for a very long time especially to another cat is not a welcome thought
no, indeed :(
Was he neutered, Nono?
yes he was
hi Bea
Morning all.
I find the best cats to be spayed females.
I had adopted him as an older cat. He developed a urninary infection which I later found out he had a long history of
We tried all sorts of things but nothing worked so was advised by the vet that perhaps he should be an outdoor cat
but we are not allowed to have outdoor cats where we live
so sad to learn that only later :(
yes sprite I was very upset about the whole thing and a bit angry that I hadnt been informed of previous health issues even tho I had asked
they should have told you. Now they only created more problems, for the cat and for you.
I agree! I feel so bad about the cat as he had never been an outside cat and I still worry about him
I would too. You can give him away, but you cannot rip him from your heart. *hug*
stats for the top e in last column please
el4/4 I think
ty! I could not see that
nbs and nbt
with all those Es, it is a miracle we can see words at all ;)
gratz
Nan, I have found that neutered males are excellent. If you get a cat as a kitten you can discourage bad habits when they start. Don't deprive yourself of the love of a cat just because of this one bad experience. Another cat should benefit from all the love you have to give and they can be such wonderful companions.
hi Mimi :)
((sprite))
Hi Mimi
Neutered males generally do not have a spraying problem either.
so... why no elfmen? I could do with a nice Legalas.
The vet advised against it for a period of time Mimi
*Legolas
I'm with you, sprite! Though, Aragorn would be most welcome also!
ah yes, him especially. With his kind eyes... I can watch Aragorn for hours :D
I haven't seen the new Hobbit movie yet but will be doing so. Will miss these guys, however. My favorite of the trilogy was the last one.
was just checking... promised my family we would go see it this vacation. No Aragorn though :(
I have booked tickets to see it tomorrrow, very excited
we find neutered male kitties the best.if you are not adverse to black kitties,i highly recommend the black bombay breed as they are redily available at your local shelter and have amazing personalities but be warned, they fast become a one person cat and must curl up tight with you when you sleep
No, since it is a prequel. I love finding movie that enable me to get into fantasy....don't have much use for "reality" TV either since I have enough reality in my life already and now am searching for a good fantasy! Exciting, xe!
Crossy that almost perfectly describes my Shadow but SHE was not male LOL
like i always say mimi "i want to be entertained in a movie, take my mind off of like.if i want reality,i can always open a window"
life
I have two black short-haired and a big gray striped. Two males, one female. My black male has soooo much personality. He even "argues" with me.
I'm with you, crossy!
yup,they will
my 10 month old black kitty was helping me shave this morning
All three of mine were strays and they are incredibly affectionate. The rotate getting into my lap so I'm rarely without a lovely creature close to me. Males me feel less alone for sure.
and he loves bendy straws and will play fetch with them
very nice mimi
Boy, am I mis-typing things today! Trying to wake up.
both our black kitties are indoor kitties but we trained them to harness and leash,so we can take them for walkies
not to worry mimi,i am no grammar nazi
All three of mine are strictly indoors....too dangerous to allow them out. But I have a balcony that I'm working on fixing up with planters and greenery for them. Can't allow them out there until I get it so they can't jump up on the wall since my Dodger cat has seizures and I'm afraid he'd fall off.
i automatically just read around spelling errors,as i make so many myself
ahh ,yes, a cattery.it is good idea for balcony
So do I, crossy. I find that perfection in life is merely a concept with no basis in reality.
you are a wise woman mimi.common over for crossy breakfast
Would love that, crossy!
leave your calorie counter at home!
“Life’s but a walking shadow, a poor player, that struts and frets his hour upon the stage and then is heard no more; it is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.†Act V, Scene V, Macbeth, William Shakespeare
Always do these days, crossy....I figure that ship has sailed and at this point I'm just going to enjoy and not worry about it!
reminds me,i best go see how the bacon and egg suppiles are holding out..brb
Thanks for the cultural uplift, BR!!
You were doing quite well without my help.
I appreciate a Shakespeare reference ANY time. I spent the summer between my freshman and sophomore years in high school reading his works. My peers thought I was NUTS---but I loved it.
Half the time I need a translator.
I had a couple of compilation books that reworded them all so it was much easier.
I was more of David and Ann find sand on the beach
I was fortunate (especially in a small rural Ohio school) to have an English teacher my senior year who spent most of the time reading and discussing "The Prophet." Changed my life.
Sprite and Nan, are you still here? How do you like my new icon for the new year?
I read The Prophet. Donated it to the library.
sorry! Got sidetracked, ordered tickets for The Hobbit online.
Even named a woolly monkey I had Gibran...no hidden meaning there.
Good for you, sprite! Wish we could go together!
Mimi, I love it! A road ahead with lots of promise.
aw yeah, that would be lovely. Alas...
hi BabbleRabble, good to see you! I am reading that article you referred me to. A long read, but worth it.
I had such a terrible 2012...a dear friend told me 2013 will be my year....hope he's right.
I did not know Gibran was wooly
No, but the monkey was!
I love Gibran. We even used one of his texts as wedding text.
*hugs Mimi* 2013 is gonna be grand. Promise. We will make it so.
I gave a copy to my daughter when she turned 18....she has yet to appreciate it, alas.
From your mouth..........
So far, 2013 is just a number
Sometimes I don't know where my kids came from. It's like aliens came and took the kids I was supposed to have a replaced them with these people.
Sounds terrible, but there are reasons for my feelings.
My new icon is Monument Valley here in Arizona on Navajo land. It is a very spiritual place and starkly beautiful.
Imagine a man who doesn't believe in anything, hope for anything, doesn't love anyone. This is a description of a dead or paralyzed soul. This happens from great grief, or from an unhappy upbringing when parents make from their children's souls paralytics. ~Simon Soloveychik
I am sorry that is the way it is with your kids :(
may I please give you a hug, BabbleRabble?
I am grateful every day for my resilient spirit that never gives up even in the face of terrible pain.
That is why that memory article is so special
Could I get the link for that, BR?
it certainly is. Am reading it with concentration, a bit at a time. Thank you for sharing it.
One who shows signs of mental aberration is, inevitably, perhaps, but cruelly, shut off from familiar, thoughtless intercourse, partly excommunicated; his isolation is unwittingly proclaimed to him on every countenance by curiosity, indifference, aversion, or pity, and in so far as he is human enough to need free and equal communication and feel the lack of it, he suffers pain and loss of a kind and degree which others can only faintly imagine, and for the most part ignore. ~Charles Horton Cooley
Mimi: http://tinyurl.com/azqvzk8
I still had it open.
also absolutely true.
This is why I play brain games and word games, in part, to keep my mind alert and active. Staying open to others and to possibility is important also. I always wonder what's just around the bend, even now.
one of the reasons I play as well. But that 'familiar, thoughtless intercourse' is far beyond my reach indeed.
I'm hoping to visit rubyfoo in the Spring...never been to Europe before and hoping it will happen....Paris in the springtime!
What I'd really love is to take a culinary tour of Italy---drooling just thinking about it!
“We find that people's beliefs about their efficacy affect the sorts of choices they make in very significant ways. In particular, it affects their levels of motivation and perseverance in the face of obstacles. Most success requires persistent effort, so low self-efficacy becomes a self-limiting process. In order to succeed, people need a sense of self-efficacy, strung together with resilience to meet the inevitable obstacles and inequities of life.†~Albert Bandura
Mimi, that would be so cool! Oh, keep me posted? Perhaps we can meet somehow.
I was hoping you'd say that, sprite!
:D
BR, I've always had a greater confidence in my abilities than my competence justified...but kept me going and exploring.
That the birds of worry and care fly about your head This you cannot change But that they build nests in your hair This you can prevent. -- Chinese Proverb
Another good quote. I usually feel like a total loser. It takes a lot of effort for me to even recognise the things I AM succeeding in. But I can truly say that for me it is going better. Step by step.
Sprite, you are anything but a loser! Your spirit and kindness shine through and that makes you a valuable and wonderful friend.
hehehe, that is one of my favorites. The one thing I am really good at is that I never give up. Something I admire in you too, BabbleRabble.
Mimi, those are sweet and lovely words. I can read them, but not really feel them.
Absorb them, sprite...you deserve it.
oh... and that is MY shortcoming, not any lack in your words!
I am always so happy to see you here, sprite. ((hug))
and vice versa, Mimi :) *hug right back at ya* And I am always happy to see you too, BabbleRabble. I always say so, because I mean it very much.
Happy 2nd day of the New Year to all
hello Aloy! Thank you. To you too, and a waggle from Terra.
Hi, Aloy!! Right back at ya!
(-: ty sprite.. so far, the New Year has gone well
hi Mimi - just opened chat.. down to 37, haven't seen the 8, but starting on my second cuppa
Did you see my post about my new icon?
I am doing lousy in the biggies department, as usual. No 7s and no 8, with only 48 left.
looks like I missed BabbleRabble.. no, Mimi.. scrolling back
It is Monument Valley here in Arizona on Navajo land....very spiritual and starkly beautiful.
ooh, you are in AZ? so is my daughter and sil
I have the 8 and one 7 if any one wants stats.
Where are they, Aloy?
Phoenix, building new home, south mountain
hi Bzzn
Hello
Hello
I'd love stats, Bea, please.
To abuse or neglect a child, to deprive the child of his or her own identity and ability to experience joy in life, is to commit soul murder. Soul murder is the perpetration of brutal or subtle acts against children that result in their emotional bondage to the abuser and, finally, in their psychic and spiritual annihilation.
Know exactly where they are. I'm in north Phoenix but when I first moved here lived in Tempe. Also, I'm originally from Cincinnati, Ohio! Small world.
Mimi, you inspired me. I also changed my icon into my new year wish.
Hi, Bea!
Pax, Aloy
Pax, BabbleRabble.. (-:
Soul murder. It should be punishable by law.
I think it gets taken care of in the afterlife...at least that is my belief.
I shall stop.
I appreciate your sharing these quotes, BabbleRabble. They help me. You must spend a lot of time investigating to find such 'right' ones.
I think Bea has a chog bug :(
Why?
Mimi, I don't know about the afterlife. But I do think that life is about learning, on soul level, so I guess there must be some kind of reviewing, some kind of balancing and learning afterwards.
Karma at work.
I seek oblivion ... a sip from the river Lethe ... not even trace of what passed for existence
oh, because I saw you repeating 'hello', and you didn't react to my asking for stats, so I thought the chog was acting up at your side.
Not even a trace of the things you learned, BabbleRabble?
Sorry. Missed you asking.
I could tell you stories about that, sprite. If you like, contact me at my email: catjdesigns@yahoo.com. Ruby and I email often and it's so rewarding.
no problem, just happy you don't have a chog bug :)

The only certainty I learned is I did not have the answer.

I don't do so well with change, but am learning...
1. who would want to create a rotating sphere inhabited by life ... who have no idea why we are here
my father always said, "I don't talk so good-lookin, but I do the best I am"

he was sweet and funny too (-:
Hi ivesy!
i have to learn that i cant solve my sons problems.heck i cant solve my own lol.. hi mimi
Hi, jmc!
that's a good way to look at it ivesy; his problems belong to him

took me a long time to realize tht ruby. how are u and the pups?
lol.. i like that mimi
thanks for the clues, got the 8 and 2 7s.
i have to learn to be more gracious :-) babble has helped with that
hiya hego!
: )
we love you, gracious jmc!
*curtsies* ty sprite
i need patience... and i need to quit smoking..... still.
the pups are my greatest joy. and Ruby is almost 10, so this past 6 months' of ministrations have really helped her. I wish somebody would give me and hour and a half massage every day!
My "grace" comes and goes---like Mexican food.
Sorry, could I ask how many words there are today?
*giggle*
hi frank, 147 today
147
2. Because of misadventures blamed on beings who likely could not change their behavior we are deemed sinners who must repent ... included a sin none of us were around to commit that a god saved us from ... when the save god set the stage for the downfall
147
147 frank and hello
ohhh that sounds like heaven.. a nice massage.
146 Frank
hi frank.. 147
lol 147
hello and thank you :)
I think you are both cool and very gracious, jmc
*hands hego reading glasses*
hi frank, of course, 147 today
ty JMC. needed those.
i have been criticized in noncyber life for being too blunt
did someone say 147? lol
ok, I am lost in cyberspace. If you guys can see this: I am closing and restartihg the game
Ruby, if I'm able to visit in the Spring, sprite might meet up with us....too cool.
np hego
I often am a belligerent bobo
what! You! No!
they tell me i need to duct tape my mouth..hmm
on4 if you both want me to, Mimi and ruby... don't wanna intrude upon Mimi's visit!
mimi, we have to see how Burt is doing in the next couple of months. At the moment, I am just hoping he'll get through the cold months without another pneumonia
JMC I prefer to think of you as honest and forthcoming.
well my persona in babble is more a concilator and that has helped me in noncyber life. . .
bluntness can be very liberating. I take straightforward over polite anytime.
noncyber life? what's that? lol
I often just open my mouth to change feet. If it's in my brain, it generally comes out my mouth!
I'm inclined to agree with you there, Sprite.
ivesy, I aften forget to turn on my filter as well.
I agree Sprite.
ty hego and sprite. . . i like people being blunt with me but i think you can be blunt and polite and that is what i am going for
any way that is my new years resolution. . .
I think blunt as an excuse for cruel is inexcusable. and jmc is NEVER cruel
dont make too many friends that way, but at least i know the ones i hve like me for who i am
Sometimes "killing" with kindness is more effective.
I got banned from a site for telling the owner he epitomizes all that is evil and enjoys being the meanest dude in cyberspace.
I'm trying to take lessons from the southern ladies I am around. So far, not much luck.
ok coffee time bbl. have a good day/nite all
awww ty ruby [blush]
any sentence that starts with "To be brutally frank...." should be unheard
favorite Dr Suess quote: Be who you are and say what you mean.
perhaps you could have rephrased it more politely BR haha
ah, true, ruby. Bluntness is fine, but being deliberately hurtful is not. What I try, is to say 'I' and not 'you'... telling how I feel about things and not what the other person does/thinks/is etc. It seems to help ;)
and I thought the truth shall set you free?
bye ivesy
The people who mind don't matter and the people who matter don't mind.
because those who matter don't mind and those who mind don't matter :D
snap
snap to sprite and hego
well it set you free from that site
There you go! Sprite reads Dr Suess too!
ouch, BabbleRabble... I think that particular truth set you free from that site, lol
snap
<-- avid Dr Suess fan.
snap, jmc :D
me too
yes i say beft go left all the time myself
me three
Are there words in this grid?
I suppose I could of said, dear owner you are to be commended ... you are the exemplar of Neanderthal who should not venture from your cave.
no big ones that I can find, that's for sure
Um, I don't think that would have been better BR.
mwah I don't think that would have helped much, BabbleRabble :D
what grid?
hmmmm i don't think that is quite it either BR. . .
words... yeah, hego. Must be. I found some.
lol Aloy.
think he would have seen the hairy ape analogy
Dear boss, can you come again when you don't have so long to stay?
hahahaha
better. . .
You're getting there.
please don't slam the door on your way out
It's been a long time since we saw you last... let's keep it that way in future
Famous Clapton song in the grid.
layla
yup
holy cow, need to cl7 my act
I always thought it was spelled like Mohammed's wife....
that's one word?
you, Aloy? Never.
ty snuffy. . .who'd have thought that was one word?
morning all
surprised me too, hego..
Love ru acoustic version ofo that Clapton song!

What on earth did I type???!!!
hi JMC :)
who is playing hockey?
you typed: What on earth did I type???!!!
lol, BR.. we actually had a bit of frost before Christmas - that cold front swooped on down
haha
Time to go feed the cats and try to wake up more. Good day, all, and hugs all around!!
i was ice skating in my car new years eve. . .
mimi, you're in here!
ooh, hate black ice, the worst!
bye mimi
byebye mimi
bye Mimi.. hagd!
bye Mimi *hugs*
. . . backwards down a steep hill. . .
eeeeeeeeek.. horrors
was not the new years eve of my dreams
oy vey, whatever that means!
I am trying to join land of living..this cold has knocked me on my kiester
used to fall once every winter on black ice when I lived in Binghamton
it means oh, woe.
that is whay kept me away from babble until today. . .
who was skating downhill backwards?
*sends healing vibes to all sufferers from the cold*
<----- hopped up on cold meds
stats for the 8, pls, I'll try one more time
Oy vey (Yiddish: ××± װײ), oy vay, or just oy — or even more elaborately oy vey iz mir — is an exclamation of dismay or exasperation meaning something like "oh, pain" or "woe is me".
You would have missed the black ice this year. England's been practically afloat this winter.
thanks sprite { hugging from within her hazmat suit}
me in my car carlee. . . i had gone about halfway up this hill andt then when i turned the corner found out they had quite plowing
woe is me. That is what I was thinking as translation. Wee mij, in dutch.
oh dear JMC but you are ok?
*makes warm brandy and milk for carlee*
just as the Netherlands, frank. Incredibly wet, even for us.
hmmm yummy..thanks JMC
yes but it screwed up my nye plans . . . ended up in a hotel in a small town. . .
we have about a foot of snow
The horse would likely say, whoa is me
how do you keep the milk from curdling, jmc?
bummer jmc
but you are safe JMC
lol BabbleRabble
best thing for a cold carlee
groan, that is funny BR
i zap it in a microwave ruby
you don't boil it just get it hot
aaah, don't have a microwave
sugar?
well then heat it slowly in a pan . . .
Oh dear, that must be a bigger problem for you. I hope you don't have our floods! At least here we have a little higher ground to clamber up to ;)
warm it gently in a pan Ruby
my friend who first made it for me put in sugar. . .but i don't have much of a sweet tooth so i don't
I boil my breakfast milk, but this sounds like more of an afternoon treat
hmmm..i have some crap brandy in the cupboard....
Good morning!
if I started my day with brandy, I'd get even less done
so far so good, frank. We are used to the threat of floods, so the defences are pretty good. I have seen some of the flooding (jacula posted pictures) at your side of the ca5. Awful.
morning car.
if you add sugar you won't notice how crappy the brandy is haha
Hi Car!
ruby, it is for a cold! If you are that ill, you don't have to get anything done ;)
that kind of brandy is a good base for sangria
hi car!
true enough... so...do I add white or brown sugar???
Hego!!!! What a cute weemee!
I would add brown
ty ty
sangria... I have a lovely recipe for sangria :D Given to me by the owner of a restaurant we used to frequent.
Hi jmc! Hi Ruby!
Not as good as your, though.
Hello carlee!
hmmm if i had a choice i would pick brown for the richer taste. . .
I'm not sick, just like the idea of brandy and milk. Used to drink scotch and milk, but sometimes it curdled
I take it you are not feeling much better today, carlee?
I perceive a microwave as a friendly acknowledgement of a micro
Yes it is, hego! Adorable!
that is what I was thinking... my schedule is all messed up...is almost 10 am...I want leftover turkey dinner...
how do you find a weemee?
hi car. I'll let you know if I last through dinner.....
back from store:)) snowing like crazy yet again
Hi Aloy! It is an app on my phone.
google images, Aloy?
nope... I am hopped up on cold meds atm...

she and beloved are doing fine... she got tired of some of the backstabbing and now life is busy for her...she found other ways to occupy her time
aww, well, I'm glad she and beloved are fine.. enjoyed chatting with her so much
yeap....kids and grandkids are good.. she was cooking up a storm for xmas just like scarlet does
yes, I remember that!
oops... brb
Car, did you find the time to read those articles about the girls taking over the world?
So funny you should mention those! I was starting to read them yesterday, but, of course, was interrupted...so they are on my "to do" list today!
and now it is time for crossy's tidbit of the day!!!
O'Hare Airport is named after Al Capone's laywer's son, Lt. Cmdr. Butch O'Hare.

Jump to: navigation, search The world's busiest airports by passenger traffic are measured by total passengers (data from Airports Council International), defined as passengers enplaned plus passengers deplaned plus direct-transit passengers. Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta has been the world's busiest airport every year since 2000; with all airports combined London has the world's busiest city airport system by passenger count.
I heard Atlanta was busy....
crossy why does my computer keep telling me i have a something or another conflict with the ipo (maybe) being used by another computer when i only have one computer workign?

tell crossy:)
kindle fire
yaaaa! wish it had been a barns and noble or sony or kobo product though..i have over 500 books in epub format to share but sadly kindle is pretty proprietary with the ole file formats but all in all it is a good machine
if you wish you can e mail me and i will send you my book listings and you can pick some and give it a try
that's what i wanted to know more about, epub and how to download to read on the kindle...
and do not forget to hit www.gutenberg.com for all your free classics
start there,it is good practice when getting to know your first reader
can i use adobe to download?
go to gutenberg first to get a feel for it
okay. i knew you'd be able to help me thru this.
Try Calibre. Its a free program that will reformat just about any ebook format.
http://www.gutenberg.org/
and calbire is amazing for file conversions
then there is www.epubbud.com
but once you get used to things, calibre is a must have as it also backs up all your books for you
calibre dot org, dot com?
per the earlier chog, junk brandy and milk is not bad, and I didn[t even heat the milk!
if the new kindles can use them, always use e-pub files.i find they format better, and use less space
I book my Mom a Nook for Christmas. She hasnt tried it yet - hopefully it wont be too complicated for her. She is not technology savvy.
now if your book has lots of pictures i would use pdg file format
crossy and the mrs love their nooks
pdf*
You can download Calibre from http://calibre-ebook.com
I charged it and downloaded several books for her - changed the font to large so she can see - I showed her how to turn it on and find the book
i have a first gen nook riverdance and it is still going strong
I downloaded the books directly onto the Nook - is it better to download on computer first?
I use it for my Nook all the time.
once she gets used to it,she will love it river
River I don't think it matters. I do download books both ways. (laptop or nook)
She doesnt own a computer so I will have to keep putting books on for her.
Does she have access to wifi? Most Nooks will download that way.
Think Starbucks or your local library.
I dont know if her friends have wifi or they are directly hooked to a modem. I registered the nook in my name and have my credit card info in it. She can order whenever she wants but she needs computer access. My Mom is 84. I doubt she will go to those sources on her own. She has 7 books on it right now so that will keep her busy for a while. And she did tell me she has several friends with e-readers and they love them, so I am sure they willl help her get started.
You're lucky. My Mom won't even try a ebook reader.
I didnt ask her, I just got it for christmas. she has trouble reading now unless it is large print because of her macular degeneration. She loves to read so I thought this would be a good idea.
She needs nothing so it is always hard to figure out what to get for gifts.
I got my Mom a record player so that she can play all her old vinyl LPs.
my mrs first e-book reader was her salvation.with her degenerative eye disease,it had been ten years since she had last been able to read
thats a great idea
I guess its hard to learn all this new techie stuff.
She tells me she has no interest in computers although she has friends that have them. She is certainly smart enough but just doesnt have the desire.
I couldnt live without my computer
and my kids are even worse than me - they carry around their laptops everywhere. At least I am not that bad.
stats for the 8 please
but, lbd, next time you get the e-reader off of her,go to gutenber.org.you can load dozens of classics in munites and that will keep her going between purchaces
pe8,50
river, your mom is probably intimidated by the computer. i know, mine was, and refused to be even in the same room with one, al6 she'd peek over shoulders to see what was going on.
thanks for the al6 lbd
got the 8 - thanks Erda
thats NBT and NBS - will leave my last 37 for letter - must get to back to work now - have a great day all
YW, River
*later
when i bought a e-reader for my father i just opened it first and without registering it,wont to gutenberg and downloaded about 50 cassics, trolled through epubbud.com and found 30 or 40 title he would like, then culled 100 e pubs out of my own files,he likes historical non-fictions,so even though he hates computers,he will have years of reading
damn typos
yeah, how dare they...
i am sure you are correct erda, they must be setient
LOL
gm babblers, on for a few!

Well i am glad you both did somthing at least, Sue :-)
we did, and it was good to be with friends, zooz. We missed a couple of them but got to two Christmas open houses (eve and day) and a game night last night.

hello lilliann! How is daughter and any word on rescheduling your holiday?
I do have some narrow escapes
hi lilliann!
she is doing really well jill.still a bit battered and bruised and tired more than normal but that is to be expected. we met the lady and her husband today to hit her and we all hugged and had a good chat.it was just a tragic accident but noe hopefully something will be done to the road where the bairn and other children cross. there should be lights so the drivers can see them as they are all dressed in black uniforms.we are now going to mexico next week, which will be great to just relax.than ks for asking :)
hi nrkii
sounds like good news all around
definitely nrkii.we wanted to meet her and her us and just let her know that there was no ill will and let her see how well the bairn is and to now get on with her life with her children and husband and not feel guilty anymore
that is wonderfully generous of you
who are your
apparently there is a petition for a crossing, so we will see what comes of that.in the summer it's not so bad as cars and pedestrians can see eachother but in the winter when it is dark it is very difficult for both to see
I had a woman treat me that way once, on a much smaller scale. I dropped a 12-pack of coke cans on her foot, and she filed an accident report at the store. They told her to sue me. She called me to tell me that she had no intention of suing me, and that I should not worry about it for one more minute. (She was outraged at the store for dealing with it that way.)
wow, nrkii, not a decent way for a store to react to such situation
Lilliann, very happy that things are going well now and you'll have a lovely holiday
i don't know if it's generous. it happens.she just didn't see her.she wasn't speeding or drunk and at the end of the day she's been through hell too.
Lilliann, it is my worst driving nightmare that I might hit someone some day.
that's the problem with today's society nrkii, it's all about suing people and ambulance chasers!!
It is nice that there are still good people on this planet. Also glad you will holiday in Mexico lilliann!!
Well, must *poof* bbl
i think we all feel like that nrkii, but if we think about it too much we'd never drive.the lady still hasn't driven yet but we told her she needs to get back in a car as soon as possible as it will only get worse as the time goes by
bye jill.thanks hin.tc
FW!
ty flosey.we will :)
wtg nrkii!!
anyone need any clues before I run off to do laundry?
i still need 48 nrkii, so i'll plod on.thanks any way.enjoy your laundry :)

Hello just starting. Today was hair cut day so I got a little morning outing. Very beautiful sunny day so far with high pressure and freezing temperatures.
hi stidgemere.glad you got out with nice weather :)
hi gmere!
found the en6/30, ty jess
Hi lilliann. It is invigorating. Murphy, the dog, likes to go out to chace squirrels. He has no chance of catching one but he feels duty bound to make the effort.
lol, gmere! We've gotten Sera to the point where she pretty much ignores the squirrels. Rabbits, on the other hand.....
lol.well it keeps him active :)
Hi uu. Best to you in this New Year. Tonight our orchestra group begins the new term. My grandson is taking classes at that time so cannot attend this time.
Our rabbits seem to have gone into their burrows for the winter. We have not seen them for a couple of weeks.
oh, too bad. music means a lot in my life, and I miss it when I can't do it
I hope he can make some adjustment and attend some of the sessions. We'll see. Meanwhile we Babble on.
hello Mother, Matthew and I will be over soon. He's out back playing with Lucky in the sun.
indeed :-)
hi stid!
hi stid
hey all
Hi mama. Nice to see you on the Grid. I'm glad Matthew got over.
fw!!
Congrats lilliann. This grid seems trickier than the past few days' offerings.

Ask For It/Get It Syndrome strikes again. : D
hi everyone, back for a bit
I don't have a driver. Too poor for a butler too.
Downton Abbey next week!
It seems to be working.
Good morning all :)
Hi Liz, just back again, too many interruptions!
hi flosey - hope all's well with you :)
yes thanks Liz, back to just the 2 of us, daughter, sil and grandson just left at noon, they had been with us for 2 wonderful weeks, house is very quiet
I hope the quiet house is a good thing! Guests are lovely but I know that we enjoy the peace and quiet afterwards
it's nice, I believe there's a reason we are unable to have children past a certain age, time to enjoy grandchildren who come to visit
hello all!
Hi cos :)
hi cos
our landlord just gave us a couppon for free pizza.. the third time in less thn a week
Yum! He must hate pizza!
wow, great landlord, cos - seems to have been a good move?
nah today was a reward for paying our rent a week before it was due. it helped that we signed the lease last week lol
I want some free pizza.
Or perhaps he thinks you look hungry!
Or maybe he is a part owner of the pizza place?
well move went well except the therm. is broken. it is like a furnace here and we have the a/c on and its 20 degrees out. still hotter than hot. theyre fixing it tomorrow. a/c is on, all windows is on. heat off., still very hot
*windows open, not on lol
So ice cream more necessary than pizza!
but soon remedied, hope it's more comfortable then
Hope they sort it early tomorrow :)
its not that hot with the windows open. its just right. so its comfortable..
not too early Liz ;)
20 C is pleasant - it's 30 C here today!
the cold front has seemed to leave us but its only the beginning of Jan *sigh*
I would agree with not too early! Can't believe that workmen start here at 7.00 am! Now I'd've liked that when I was working in the UK - but not a hope!
Anytime after 10am is fine ;)
Mr. Stay Up All Night And Do The Grid needs his beauty sleep. : P
Had to take time off work to get things fixed in UK - not a problem here. I'm with you on after 10 am!
Leisurely start to a day is very good :)
lol yes i do.. but i stop the grid at 11:30pm now to save for the next day ... so i just stay up all night and watch west wing on netflix :)
That is a good show to stay up watching.
Just finished the entire series of The Office, so moved onto West Wing. Netflix added it the day I finished Office. Perfect timing.
la 5/18 please?
I'm currently in the midst of a Grey's Anatomy marathon. : D
Basketball shot. Dumb word.
Me too - Grey's that is!
ahh tyvm
greys is on my list of the next 5 shows to do a marathon with. i tried brothers and sisters... not too bad.. gotta watch a few more to get into it.
I loved Brothers & Sisters. It gets better in the second season.
May I please have a clue for ca6-24? Thanks
Haven't heard of Brothers and Sisters - I'll look out for it. Also doing ER at the moment!
c + cancel a marriage is to *n**l it + vowel
ER is good. Havent seen the last few seasons of the show though
last time I saw was when this one character got killed by something ridiculous
Thanks much,
cos. Sorry, hit the enter key too soon.
I followed it through to the end but recently they started a rerun from the first series - I saw that so long ago that I'd not remembered too much of it!
Yeah I always enjoy the earlier shows since I barely remember them
does anyone have a clue for en6/30 please?

Have to think way back for that! Can see here but don't remember the name!
Yeah I had a feeling it wasnt right...
It's also a kind of alcohol.

That's right. We were last
Hi flosey and all. Still have about half of the words to find. Unfriendly grid to me.
hi gmere, good to see you
I've found this grid same gmere, have been in and out, 11 to go
Today is a good day for doing Babble and watching the gloaming gloam.
I've been finding this one tough, too. I'm a novice, though.
hi frank, don't believe we've met?
I'm getting better at this game, Frank C but some days are really difficult.
Hi, Flosey. I don't think we have met, but I've heard about you - good things, don't worry. I was Jesse's partner. He was Nancy Boy here, if you remember him at all. So there are a lot of familiar names to me here!
oh yes, now I remember you frank, the name did ring a bell but couldn't place you
Of course we remember Nancy Boy. Glad you are trying Babble.
good to see you here, we certainly do remember dear Nancy Boy, such a lovely, dear young man
Well with this icon, I have a rather forgettable face :)
Ah, thank you both.
lol, but please join and become a regular
Lots of Babbler change their icons according to a theme. I always manage to slow down the chat and people naturally get upset and I get flustered and have to get Stidmama to fix things. So, my icon is my puppy, Murphy.
I'll have to see if I can keep up with the game! It's easy to look over somebody's shoulder and pick out a few words, but completing it for myself is pretty challenging!
it'll come with time frank
We set goals. Sometimes it is 100 words. Sometimes just leaving no tile blank (NTB), sometimes it is what you can do in 15 minutes. Nobody has to finish a grid.
I've finally reached the time where I can just say, that's enough for this grid and walk away - but I did complete the 744! that was grim determination
and quite a challenge - certainly didn't do much else that day
Being able to walk away is the sign of a STRONG Babbler. Many are not happy with unfinished grids. Speaking of which, I need two more words for 100 so excuse me while I do those and then fix dinner. Best wishes to all.
That's a good idea. I can be a bit competitive, so I need to try not to compete with myself!
Hi folks. I only have 46 words so far.
hi bichon
I need to get moving here
4 to go, my online partner is looking for a game of bridge, bbl
diggory and Frank , hope to see you again
Thank you, Flosey :) take care
anyone able to clue the an 6?
Ruru...just like en6, un6, and re6.
thank you jee
You are welcome...did you get it?
yes... right away
Good Evening Everybody. How are you all this brisk and cold evening?
hi nef.. fine ..how are you
doing well; ruru staying inside and warm tonight :-)
I'm trying to wrap up this bad boy
I'm just starting; it sounds like a tough grid by what you said?
seems to be
darn! I should have started earlier then...
Over abundance of freaky words.
hi Molly. How are you tonight?
Not bad Nef, and you?
la 6/18 help please?
scrolling down in chat; I see that frank c. is here. I hope you like playing, frank.
doing okay, Molly
sorry, ruru, I don't have it but will look
la + short for Mr. Hawthorn
thank you
You are most welcome.
it is kind of a freaky grid
lots of babblets?
not entirely.. just some words really well hidden
evening all!
so I guess a yantl isn't a male yentl, then?
Just a lot of weird words. I can't bring myself to use the B word as it is so over used here.
hi dan2! I tried that too!
No such thing as a yantl, you meshuggenah : P
well the th 5./18 sure isn't normal or a babblet
I had to look up definitions for way too many words today.
sadly, I don't know any Yiddish; so I'll pretend you called me beautiful, Molly! ;-)
I was teasing 2Bit Nef. : D
hi all, back to find my last 18
/me plotzes
the yu 5/18 isn't a normal word or a babblet either
Like I said, an abundance of weird words.
op6 pls
Hi again - back to find some more weird words :)
If a gay person comes out, they are then op6 gay.
I can't find a single word for that middle column A. Could someone give me the stats on it please?

I'm not sure the come out thing is PC anymore Molly
thank you Molly. I tried it already but it didn't work; now it did. (I think sometimes the game won't let me play some words too early or something)
I live under a rock. I have no idea what is politically correct and mostly don't care.
HA
I live one hour North of PC -ville
... Berkeley
even the Movie theaters are PC
It used to be Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and in Berkeley it is " A woman of no Color and 7 Vertically Challenged individuals"
FW bye for now
:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
Congrats Peri :)
Molly---love the new icon. Mine is new as well.
bye peri
YAY, peri!! WTG!!!
thanks ruru. i needed a laugh tonight :)
:D GE
Am sending your joke to my godson---he graduated from Berkeley.
I've also been told it's inappropriate to refer to my southern neighbors as rednecks. They prefer "necks of color"
real rednecks don't give a flying flip about all that PC stuff
Hello to myfellow babblers! How is everybody doing today?
By the way, congratulations to all the finishers! Way to go!
hi Min. How are you tonight?
you won't find any red necks in Berkeley eieieos
maybe one or two. Berkeley's a pretty diverse place
you haven't been there lately bichon
do visit the Bay Area often
Berkeley is it's own country nowadays
Hello Nef! I am well. I am saving my last word for later on.
there are parts of austin that probably come close. lol
That's what some Berkeleyites would like to think
it's actually really sad.. used to be a nice place to go... now it's sort of dirty, grungy, un-friendly, and weird
<---you can tell I'll not be moving there soon
and all the cars only turn to the left in Berkeley
a lot of people have to go around the block to get to where they're going
:D :D :D :D :D :D
Bah dum ching
I'll shut up now
It's like a zen question...does a bird with only a left wing fly around in circles?
wow.. Molly.. that's deep...
there are some very nice areas in Berkeley. I love the Monteray Market
yes.. the Monterey market is nice.. but I wish one thing
they wouldn't Zucchini ... Phallic squash
wouldn't call
No it hops
ruru, did you know that UPS trucks can never turn left? Company rules. I guess left turns use more gas and cause more accidents than anything else....
(for thier drivers when they studied it)
clue for pe8/50
The pe8/50 is as *** your request + me 5/12 word majmom
tx minveryork
UPS is fanatical about safety, and good for them.
hint for a 7, pls
Go cl7 your mess. *I know you think it's two words, but Enable thinks it's one*
How weird, ty Molly
It's that kind of grid, Bich. Just go with the flow.
Hi too
Hello herinfernallady! How are you doing? Welcome to grid
Thanks on that 8 i swear I tried that
Hi Mini.
ca 7/36 word is ca 6/24 word plus a vowel. cl 7/40 word is store announcement: cl 7/40 in aisle four! fr 7/44 word is fr plus a vowel plus anagram of that ul 4/5 word bichon.
hi again all!
Hello uusue! How are you doing today? Welcome to puzzle.
Wow, min, Jack Hanna is only 66? He looks much older to me (of course that may have something to do with my own age...)
hi
hi, herin!
I op4/5ed up Babble website la4/4 this afternoon.I was el 5/10d to see that grid was not too big and not too pu 4/8.I ho4/5d in on grid and found most of the words.Th 4/5 I had to re 4/6 on a list to get most of my words. Al 5/12ough I'm not done yet, I on4/6 have one word left. Now here is a story of clues to help you hu4/6 for words I do not cl 5/12 my house very often. I am ha 5/14ed at the thought of cl 5/12ing. I ca 4/5 bring myself to do it once a week like I should. I hate doing it so I do a big cl 7/40 twice a year. This drives hubby crazy because he is extremely an 5/10 about having an immaculate house. When I finally do cl 5/12, he checks afterward to make sure I vacuumed undernea4/5 the beds and couches. It puts a smile on his fa 4/7 if my cl 5/12ing job meets his standards. Hubby, who's pe4/6anently op 6/27 opposed to Babble, wants computer. If I do not give it to him, he will become very me 4/5. I am going to le 4/5 into bed and watch Nicole Kidman in the film Dead Ca 4/6. I ho 4/5 you have found more words with my story.Goodnite
thanks for the story, min. I hope you'll sleep well!
I did get a few more words with your story, min! Thanks!
yw
Hello stidmama! How are you doing? Welcome to the chog
Just starting the grid, hoping halfway is a reasonable goal today!
How did your day with the middle school students go today
had today off, working tomorrow, Min -- nervous ALL day long today, very unusual for me.
how was your day?
Thanks Mini
yw
well, past halfway now...
Should I wait for U to enter last word or should I do it now?

Hope to find the final 11 before lunch!
Min, go for it -- just got another 10 words with your story, but need to go to sleep soon -- have to get up extra early to allow for slippery roads.

I am following Lizlin out the exit door. Goodnight babblers
Hi Jilly. I am going to wander off too.
Well, I will check in periodically if anyone needs clue...bye herin and minv!
Bye
any clues for the pe 8 would sure be appreciated
pe8, pe**afrost + vowel + picnic pest.
and i'm out of here too. off to the pillows and my book. good luck with the grid.
thanks so much lbd! have a good read
Niters dawg and stay warm!!
bugsaw, you need me to hang around for awhile?
don't worry about me Jilly Jill unless you want to chat. I still have 28 more, just tired
Just watching tv..., I can hang for awhile...how are you and how has 2013 treated you so far?
so far, very well. I have done nothing but sleep and eat this year hahaha
how about you?
LOL, well, my work load has significantly decreased. I guess no one wants procedures during the holidays! Have been enjoying #1 son being home for awhile!
it is always fun to have son's home for the holidays. None of mine come to me because I live too far away but I go to where they are cos they are close together. I love my boys
can you offer a clue for the ha 5, 16 please? I am blind
Me too, both my boys live on the east coast, but #1 is in college and can come home for break. Makes up for the years he was in the Coast Guard and missed many holidays.
add a double hump consonant to the ha4/6(to carry away)
that is another stupid word.............. heavy sigh
this grid is full of them...
th5 was really odd for sure
this one is a clump of hops...where ever does enable find these...
and the th5 refers to a part of the hand that connects to the thumb...
I wish it would stay away from the scientific words and just try to increase my vocabulary
Like one would ever use these in a sentence!
when I looked it up it was a tree....
whoops, I was thinking of the th6, not the 5...
oh yes, it was dumb too but I just extended the one it front and monkeys were ok with it
LOL, some days those monkeys really get a workout!
my monkeys do every day. I get as far as I can past 50% on my own, then list and then monkey. If all fails I ask for clues or use More Words for the last few.
I asdmire those who can do this listless so much. Their vocabularies much be huge
I use the list to get nbt, not listing, just giving me a fighting chance to monkey the nbt
I have done a few listless, the really short ones at least...

Hi all -- I've rented a Ford Focus but can't find the gizmo or button for popping the gas tank lid. I've studied the User Manual but can't find it there either. Anyone know where it is?
ruru, we about to have a string of hot days, tonight's low is supposed to be 23deg. celsius...that's about 73deg fahrenheit.
jilli, try on the floor, between the drivers seat and the door.
There is no release, jilli...just press on the flap/door...
73? that
is perfect granny
that isn't hot at all
Google is useful sometimes...
we get to 110 F here
Actually, frequently...
nah, not if there isn't a breeze with it...
you just need to Focus jilli
73 as a low is awesome... I would so much rather be hot than cold. But, that is just the SE TX in me.
I have my heat set to 73.
plus, you may have forgotten i have an internal combustion heater which keeps jacking my body temp. up....
what?
yeah well .. I have a heater too granny.. but it doesn't jack up my body
i have a reaction to the metal which was used to fuse my ankle. i am febrile most days....makes for very uncomfortable.
73 invictus wow.. that is too warm
I can barely take 60
what's the metal granny?
have tried everything...anti-pyretics, anti-inflammatories...nothing makes a difference. i just keep on burning up.
I don't want my feet to be cold.
i think he used titanium.
that's what men are for invictus
lol, invictus, neither do i. if the metal gets cold, it takes foreverto warm up my left foot.
My boyfriend would kill me if I touched him with my feet at night.
hello all - hey rose my sympathy - also very hot here and Durban is very humid as well - very tiring and very grumpy making
Thanks, Jellen -- just had to lift it. Nothing on the floor, granny -- that's where it was on my deceased Toyota.
We actually got a peek at the sun today!
Yay, jilli!
