this time we are driving straight to hobart, staying th5 for 3 nights, then slowly making our way up the east coast to hawley beach, for 2 nights before we come home.
rbud, this is our second time to the apple isle. th5 is so much to see and do. last year we did across the top and down the western tiers...most magnificent mountain range. still a lot in the middle we haven't seen.

just a getaway, hun. i try to arrange something similar twice a year. don gets so weighed down by the responsibility of caring for his mum. i have to break him out of the rut he finds himself in.

lol! we have a couple of new kitties - abandoned here, more or less, and I foolishly let them stay - but the little male is having a hard time getting along with the two older fixed males and our little dog.
he just came through here in a most circuitous way, over this and around that, across my lap and over the back of the chair - just to get to the next room, but carefully avoiding two cats and one dog. pretty funny to watch.

For washing windows I just put a very little in a bucket of water, wipe with a sponge and finish with a microfibre cloth for glass.
and the dishwashing machine stuff is good too?
I remembered the microfibre cloth and the bucket of water just couldn't remember the proportions
come to find out it is made by our very own Procter and Gamble :-)
I use fairy all in one tablets for my dishwasher and they are great
will have to look for Fairy tablets next time
You only ever need a tiny amount of Fairy liquid, it's so much better than other brands, I think.

I was raised in Cincinnati so I know about snow and ice. My first apt. was at the top of a steep hill and when the ice would hit, there was a guy who had a corvair (with the engine in the rear) that would wait at the bottom of the hill and drive everyone up to their homes.

he gets a treatment called Erbitux every week, smores, and then every other week he also gets a combination of three drugs called Folfiri
so every other week is the rough one.
How long?
right, on the long weeks he's at the cancer center for about 5-6 hours and then he wears a pump for another 48 hours
so the long treatments are all day Wednesday and then we go back Friday to get the pump off
wow..so glad he gets a week in between
indeed!
he will get a total of 12 long treatments and 12 short ones, so by my calculations this will go through the end of May

not as much as before, smores, but Frank has just about completely recovered from the surgery now so he is able to do things like walk the dog (except on long chemo weeks; Fridays of those weeks are pretty bad for him)
He is blessed to have you Sue :)
there are still a lot of people willing to help out but I figure I will wait to ask for more help as the chemo goes on; the effects tend to be cumulative, and he may be pretty wiped out by the end

oh I agree! This morning, we were driving over the highway and the sun came up. It was HUGE, and so deep deep red, and the sky was clear but over the lands was fog, and it all coloured from the sun... it was incredible. Haven't had a clear sky for ages, so ti was a real treat.

not really molly. some people wear hats, usually the mothers of the bride and groom, but it is more casual now.the men tend to wear either shirts open at the top or shirts and jacket or shirts and tie without jackets

It was actually up to 20F today; but the wind chill made it below zero feeling. I made the mistake of running out to the compost earlier without a jacket (the sun was shining so bright!) and haven't warmed up since then
the snow is still coming down hard here and they haven't griited the road today as the school that is opposite us is shut tomorrow, so that's going to be fun driving on..not!

Nef, give some thought to adhesive backed mesh strips---the kind that you push together and pull apart over and over....sorry, having a senior moment and can't for the life of me remember what they're actually called. Anyway, you could affix one adhesive side to the board and the other to the bottom of the track and mesh them together. Sounds good in theory anyway.

Hey, y'all, I had a bone density scan Monday....Wednesday the doctor told me I have severe osteoperosis (sp)....gave me some samples of Atelvia. I read the stuff inside the package....I have everything that I am told not to take...except I not pregnant. OK, well, do any of you have any suggestions of what foods or minerals I might try? Thanks

ok, not proper to give med advice. but for most of the drugs, which bulld bone, yo umust have calcium or your blood calcium will go down

Peach, definitely talk to your doctor. And make sure that nothing, not even your vitamin intake will interfere with your medication. Self-medicating even vitamins can have bad consequences when mixed with prescription medication.
Vitamin D3 is very important; have your blood level checked and see if you're taking the right dose though. My daughter is now on 50,000 units/week because her blood level was too low
i have a condition where i excrete my calcium, as did my father and my brother. so my bones are losing it. no one found it until it was too late.
Molly is right: for something as simple as a thyroid medication, you can't take vitamins or minerals within 4 hours of taking the synthyroid
OK, Nef. I have been with this doctor for about 30 years and if I had taken all of the med he has prescribed for me I would have been dead years ago.
for them, they got kidney stones. for me, my blood calcium gets too low because the med gobble it up and i don't have enough to feed it
are you seeing an internist? I'd strongly encourage you to see someone younger if he's not on top of your meds and such
Synthroid is a weird medication because you are supposed to have a clear system (of food and any other medication) before you take it. This I know, because I'm on it.

No Peach, Ateliva is osteo medication. Synthroid is thyroid medication.
BUT at the sasme time, when you're hospitalized, they give it with your regular 8 AM meds!

peach; up here in MN nearly everyone is on thyroid meds because we don't have the iodine intake that people along the coasts have.
Don't get me started on hospitalized medication dispensation. It breaks so many rules.

Molly, usually you don't have to hold foods for more than 1 hour; it gets through your stomach and into your system fast; so I think that Jilly is okay

Jilly, a lot of our Hmong gardens have lemon grass; they sell it in the farmers markets here all the time. You probably have a better climate than we do
Just googled it and it can be grown in a pot. And can be propogated right from the stalks you buy at at the market...

Yes, I tweaked it a bit...hang on...
