granny, I'm so glad you had such a good time after all you've been through!
so glad your vaca was so wonderful, rose!
thanx jilli. we totally missed all the bush fires. one hit the outer suburbs of hobart the day after we left, and another was out before we went through to georgetown.
dee, jilli, the last two nights we spent at hawley house. i'm sure you can google it. all we had to do was walk down the drive and we were on the beach.
off to my pillows too -- only 90 tonight, finding it tough going
nbt/nbs
sounds like my kind of vacation. That is why we love the Outer Banks in North Carolina so much.
wtg jili
sounds wonderful, granny!
in bicheno, we had penguins nesting under our room. the noise!!!! when they left at 4:30am, all these squawks and carrying-ons.
Hi all :)
hi liz
hey liz. just gloating about my holiday. lol
That would have been a bit off-putting.
Hi jilli and rose. Your holiday sounds amazing - my hubby raves about the Bicheno oysters and for him, that would make up for any penguin noise! Will you post some pics?
i was quite put out...i sat up the second morning hoping for a glimpse as they went down to the sea....no such luck. they went right through to the other end of the building before coming out into the open.
Ohhhh! A shame to have missed them!
Think penguins are really cute
liz, still have to make my way through some 1200 pics. himself is a very prolific photographer.lol
awww
Only 1200?
the first night i thought the noise was a seagull having a nightmare, lol
lol :)
lol, liz, yeah, i know. but i took another 400
lol
That's the great thing about digital photography - as long as you have the memory cards!
sure is better than the old film method.
used to have to bring another suitcase, just for the photos
still missing one 7 :(
For me it was buying 14 or 15 rolls of film (36 pics each) and then having to think about the weight of those, when I flew!
Dee, vi 7/40?
that's it!!! ty diz!

Bet some people would like a clue for that one ..
love the definition: the residue left in a still after distilling spirits, esp brandy
Some people thank you ..
hi torg
Heyas kids ..
hi tor

Nurturing my love/hate relationship with sleep tonight ..
wow.. does that sound familiar, tor
ty diz looking
hello everyone
thanks diz
Hi flosey :)
hi flosey
hi Dee
hey Flos!!
and Liz
late tonight, was baking cookies
what kind?
Love the smell of baking in a house :)
hey flosey
lol, shortbread - didn't make them at Christmas so....
hi flosey -- what kind of cookies? (drool)
yum, one of my very favorites
came across a new recipe for them and was anxious to try it
dear granddaughter made lots for Christmas -- gave boxes of them as presents -- lovely
is it better than your old recipe?
that's a good idea, jilli
don't know yet Dee, haven't tried them, too hot
I'll be anxious to hear. You'll have to share the one you like the best :)
think I still prefer the whipped shortbread
I haven't made shortbread in years; I'd have to follow the recipe closely.
not much to them Dee
butter, sugar, flour - these have vanilla but don't know that it makes a difference
love the smell of vanilla... I have only made chocolate chip cookies since we moved.. and some frozen oatmeal cookies (dough from our church youth group). You are making me want to have a baking afternoon :)
I've always loved baking but now finding it hard on my back - have to sit down
Tor, I have been trying, for years, to get my sleeping habits turned around.....friends say, Just go to bed! It doesn't work that way for me.....do you have any suggestions that might work? Thanks.
Buttery shortbread cookies are what separates us from the lower animals ..
I sooo agree, tor!
doesn't for me either Peach, I have to wait until I know I'll sleep
pach, have you tried melatonin. you would need to tke 3-4 tabs each night.
I don't peach .. I don't sleep well even when I'm really tired .. I just go to bed and lay there sometimes ..
Someone did suggest it, Rose.....but I don't know if I can take it with my other meds. Thanks for suggesting iut.
over halfway and it's sleepytime for me -- goodnight all...*poof
gn jili
ooh rose was going to suggest melatonin - i started with two capsules and now only take 1 before bed and am sleeping well - only down is very vivid dreams
Niters jilli
peach, melatonin is a chemical which our bodies produce. some peeps don't, hence the insomnia.
an 6 x 3
melatonin tells our bodies it is time to sleep, it closes down other body systems, like the kidneys, so we can sleep without having to wake every couple of hours to piddle.
Yes, tor, I know. It seems that as soon as my head touches the pillow my brain signals that now is the time for me to remember everything (or people) that I have ever known. I wind up just getting back up. Very frustrating, as you know.
i don't produce melatonin, so i take it every night so that my body knows it's sleep time.
rose - is it safe to take for long periods of time ?
yes, urshy....it's part of the med i take for fibromyalgia
that's me too peach - hubby says when I take any sleep aid I have conversations - unfortunately he only hears one side
ok thanks rose - i read somewhere that one should only take melatonin for short periods of time
besides, urshy, you are down to only one tablet. i'm have to take the equivalent of 4.
hmmm mine comes in capsule form
ti 6/21
Flosey, I have to turn my phones off before I go to bed....if I answer the phone while I am asleep I won't remember what I've said or to whom......I just wouldn't make a good
CIA or FBI person. LOL
oh wow, that could get you into trouble, Peach
urshy, mine have 1mg in them.
ok checked capsules and 1 capsule has 3mg which is why one is enough
there you go....safe as houses.
good to know rose - was concerned about long term usage - do you have vivid dreams ?
It would be so much easier if we could just smoke some pot ..
i thought pot kept you awake and partying ??
I agree.
occasionally, urshy. once i caught up on my sleep, the dreams settled..
Pot kind of amplifies whatever you're feeling - If you're tired, pot will help you sleep ..
I wish the government would legalize it in all states.
It just makes sense, you know. they could tax it and it would be helpful for a lot of people.
It's safer than aspirin .. There is no logical reason for it to be a Schedule 1 drug .. It's totally political, and it totally bites ..
Yep.
not to mention the tax revenue it would generate
Not one single person has ever - EVER - died from smoking too much pot
My husband has a neuro muscular desease CMT - Pot is the only thing that eliviates the cramping because muscle relaxers cannot be used - but it is not legal here yet
Will his doctor prescribe it for him, saphyre?
they aren't allowed to yet
if he were in the states that do he would be able to get it
That is such a shame.
Would contacting your state politicans help?
Or, oh well, Obama?
We belong to Norml - but being so close to DC it is just a political mess
I am truly sorry for your husband's condition and the fact that our for-profit "health care" system cannot provide him even the most simple, basic pain relief that he needs - that would improve his quality of life .. It angers me greatly that this is the state of our society at the moment ..
Just had a silly thought.....wonder if Bill Clinton inhales now......?
LOL peach
Yews I agree torgone
yes*
The amount of money spent paying for courts and law enforcement over pot is crazy - they need to focus on more important things
Its just an easy target
It is .. And it's something that can profit big corporations .. The private prison industry .. police/military corporations .. We wouldn't need so many cops/border patrol/FBI guys etc. etc. etc. if pot were legal ..
exactly
Rant rant rant ..
Abe Lincoln smoked pot for crying out loud ..
:)
Good ole Abe.
Norml is a great group - if you have not joined you should
I haven't heard of it, saphyre.
norml.org
Thanks, I will look into it.
yw
It's such a simple, basic, stupid thing that could help so many people, it is just so insane that our politicians throw the entire weight of our national resources against it ..
they even stop the growing of hemp for rope etc - so crazy
I didn't know that, saphyre.
yeah feds going against states who want to farm hemp
The story of why hemp and coincidentally cannabis are illegal is an object lesson in what is wrong with our political system .. It is all controlled by big money interests
agreed
it would be such a good thing for farmers but as you stated - big business is in control
why not pay farmers to grow hemp/cannabis in a controlled way. australia pays her farmers to grow opium poppies.
At one time in the earliest history of our country, the cultivation of hemp was REQUIRED of all farmers because it was (is) so useful ..
because the pharmacuetical lobbyists prevent it
and the govt is too dumb to see that the hemp plant used for rope etc does not contain the htc that marijuana does
that's weird....they would gain so mu4. the drug would be available at a mu4 lower price, surely.
and hemp makes great clothes.
Well, dear peeps, I need to answer some emails.....will try to finish this later. Enjoyed the chat.
Drs overprescribe all kinds of habit forming drugs legally
nite peach
night peach
amen to that saph
night peach, sweet sleep
me, too, amen i mean. took me forever to get off the oxycodone whn i had my ankle surgery.
and some get so addicted and the drs just keep giving it to them
that is what should be outlawed
this time, i only allowed myself a few weeks of strong pain relief, then moved over to ibuprofen and paracetamol.
good
saph, over here we have a system in our pharmacies available on their computers. it alerts a chemist when someone comes in for an addictive drug too soon.
here also but it still gets through - and the drs are partially to blame

WTG SAPHYR!!!!
anyone need clues before i go?
oh, before you go, have to share with about our resident magpie(bird)
ok
he's just a young one, but in the midst of his warbling we have noticed he mimics rosellas, kookaburras, and even our local police/ambulance sirens.
lol thats funny
i have never heard the like before.
that must really be interesting to see and hear :)
hubby recorded him today. we are going to see if there have been other instances.
ohh please let me know what you find out
he sits on our front deck, right outside our open door. it's incredible!!!
i'm sorry. i'm keeping you from your bed.
oh no thats fine - love to hear stuff like this
so not too shy then huh?
lol, don't think so. a few years back we had one which used to follow me around when i was gardening. we called him dingbat. w reckon this one is probably his grandson.
wow that is awesome
he has adopted you :)
dingbat used to check out hubby when he was working on his motorbike in the garage. the bird would walk right through the garage and out the back door to check on what i was up to.
hehe
I will have to read more about them
i think they are really clever birds.will let you know what i find out about them.
are they all through Australia or just certain areas?
as far as i know, they are all over. i thought they were originally english.
Hi again. We have similar Rose. We have an amazing family of 5 butcher birds - 3 generations. They hand feed and what with them and the magpies, the song ( and mimicking!) is beautiful.
English magpies can't sing!
good stuff - ok i am off to bed - let me know what you find out
But I think they're prettier.
liz, this bird even mimics the cockatoos. and he has a set repertoire which he follows each tim.
sleep well saphyre.
night :)
They're amazing!
* time *
I love the magpie chortle here
oh, liz. didn't know that english maggies don't sing.
They squawk!
i, too, love their warbling.
Vic magpies have slightly different colouring - ours have more white on their backs, so I'm told!
Our magpies make an unpleasant noise and are predatory. I was upset last year to find 2 stalking a squirrel in my garden. They were gone before I could find out if the squirrel was hurt.
Hi Chrissie. Magpies here can also be vicious esp in breeding season but you should hear their song - so different from in the
Uk
So interesting, didn't know there were different types of magpies
Hi grannyrose. English magpies(member of crow family) got lot of different noises but I've never heard one mimic. But people keep them as pets sometimes so they might start copying. Love the YouTube videos of the Lyre Bird doing cameras and workmen etc.
I'm not sure that they are the same family but I think the uk settlers here named the black and white birds after the magpies at home.
hey scouser. yes the lyrebirds are great mimickers. but i didn't realise that magpies did also.
an
On radio not long along there was recording of starlings (Sturnidae) 15 years after a little island off Scotland was abandoned, making sounds of farming including sheep and hammering etc These sounds must have been handed down from beak to beak.
just had a look in wikipaedia. apparently the australian magpie is a member of the butcher-bird family. not related to english magpie at all.
I just did the same thing!!!
Aha grannyrose. We should communicate with lingua franca of biological names!
lol, liz....careful, people will start to think weird things about us.
Our local starlings in this street, however, for some reason are boring and do not mimic.
You mean they don't already, Rose?
Almost time for dinner, so I'll catch you all later. Enjoy your evening Rose and the rest of you, enjoy your days. :)
Bye Liz
you too, liz
Osea
scouser, strange about the starlings. i didn't know that they were mimickers.
Oops, not a word anyway
My pet rock is too shy to mimic.
Remember the first pree-preep phone-tone that completely divided the world into people who could and couldn't mimic that one,? starlings at our other home could do that perfectly
Hi BabbleRabble pet rocks - I have a zoo of them.
nearly time for my knock-out pills. see y'all tomorrow.
Cheers grannyrose
Bye rose

Hello everyone :)
Hi all :)
Hey Lizlin :)
Hey smores :)
lol...my last name is in the grid and yesterday panda was in the grid
That's funny. The grid's speaking to you! I could do with it speaking to me!!! Not easy today!
me either, haven't gotten to far
last name by the way is mu4/6
58 left - I just listed - was really struggling! Bit short on time tomorrow too! Mu 4 /6 - good name, good UK band!
:)
Strange words - and that's just the a's!!!
:) well that explains why I don't have many a's
:)
lol...just tried hussie, not accepted of course
I thought huss was a word!
enable needs to be more brazen!
Growl!!! The first ch 7, I'd've doubled the middle consonant!!!! Used to think I could spell!
hello, anybody still here?
Hi Ruby :)
hi lizlin
{{smsores?}}
This grid is fighting back tonight :(
I spent the whole morning on paperwork; so much for St. Valentine
Smores sometimes turns off chat if she doesn't want to see clues that people post.
Hope you feel that you've achieved something.
if you see her, tell her hello from old me
romantic lunch to follow, perhaps!
raofl!
I'll be in bed before long!!
:)
Not much Valentine romance here either! Hubby deliberately ignores occasions which TELL him what to do!!! Lots of romance at other times though!
you are lucky, lzlin, my husband reflexively does the "romantic" stuff, but doesn't really get it
thinks gifts are what's necessary
{{ Ruby }}
{{smores}}
I get flowers when I least expect them!!!
aww...that's nice liz :)
It's very cute actually!
Today is also my dogs 13th birthday :)
I get flowers every Wed, when he goes to the supermarket.....
HB to dog!
That's sweet ruby :)
Well, it may be routine, but I'm sure the thoughts are the right ones :)
Happy birthday Smoresdog - a very good age for a dog. What breed is it?
all-american mutt...lol
We had an all-Brit mutt when we were growing up. Love them!
she is shephard/chow, malamute/wolf mix
Quite a mix! Is she good tempered?
wonderful temperment
mongrels are much better off - stronger, healthier, smoarter -- than purebreds. We just happen to be smitten with the beauty of ch2ow chows, tragedies included.
she is the same age as my daughter now...and both have red hair and blue eyes...lol
What more could you want?
and the chow makes your dog beautiful, I'll bet!
red hair and blue eyes, lovely
Chows are lovely. That's a beautiful combination.
Ruby and I are the same age - 70!
That's wonderful :)
yes ruby, she has gets her coloring from her mother, the chow/shephard
lol...ruby
Have you posted any pics of her?
no..I should take some and post, may do that later
I'll look out for them tomorrow! No pressure!!!!
would love to see those pix, smores
:)
I'm off now. Hugs to both and enjoy your days :)
then you could fly over here and help me manage (and enter) my photos LOL
good morning my babble friends:)
{{lizlin}}
{{crossy}}
Hi and bye Crossy :)
Bye Lizlin :)
howdy crossy :)
((ruby)) ciao liz
howdy smores
seeking out the warmth of the fireplace -- see you later, kids
*woof*
hello babblers
((sprite))
crossy! *hugs* Just recovered some data for receiving my email, I have earned a babble break.
hi and bye sprite, gotta go :)
there is always time for babble;))
hi and bye smores :)
I have windows up and running again, office, and my email. I have internet connection and the email program back with the most important message rules. So there. Hard work. Babble time.
what happened? had to do a total reinstall?
yep, format drive and reinstall from nada. Grrrr.
you had no system restore in place?
did not work. And my backup with everything (all data, all install programs, and screenies of the settings) seems to be corrupt. I hope someone can retrieve the data for me.
the best thing in my opinion with win 7 is the ease of putting the entire system back a day,a week or even a month
ouch
I have windows XP pro still. Ah well, done is done. At least I am back to babble :D
STILL xp???! wow
zooz let me check something yesterday and he said the data on my external hard disk should be still there. So I am hopeful.
yep. Vista stank, to be honest. And I haven't tried Win7 yet.
though i should not tease.i held onto 98 se for many, many years
i went rigth from 98 se to win 7
smart. 98 was stable. So is xp. 96, 2000 and vista were not.
win me stank,vista stank
lol! Culture shock, I bet!
7 seems fine.i am told win 8 is ok for tablets but sucks as a lappy or tower os
ok, good to know. I will wait a little longer. I think best would be to start with win7 when I need a new pc.
windows of course knew they were doing their first tablet and were trying to cater to it
yes,if you have a choice,start with win 7
funny thing is win 7 has a grat clipping tool for when you wish a screen shot but i still do it the old fashoined way of print screen to windows paint
pfff yeah. It is a lovely example of how an inferior product can take over the world market. Windows is so full of bugs.
when google/android ships a stable home os i am gone
i love android os on my tablet
lol! I use a nifty program for that. I can snip shapes, pages, windows, desktop, everything. Or I will, once I have reinstalled it, sigh.
I am behind the times. Not even sure what android does.
most things windows does but easier.you actually have to retrain yourself with it as you often keep trying to do things the old fashioned windows way
can't believe enable doesn't know what seitan is
hi mael. What does it mean?
enable is strange and wonderous
so true.
it's a meat substitute, like tofu, but made out of wheat gluten
and hi sprite, cross! :)
ah ok, thanks. As soon as you realise our version of enable does not even recognise 'internet', you will understand better why most new things don't take ;)
hahaha
so true

oh he loves me lots. He is just awful at remembering dates.
I get to take Hubby to the eye doctor today for new glasses, so I suppose I'll gently hint around and see if he gets it - maybe if I pull up and park at the florist? ;)
lol rbud, good one :)
Alas, most men are complete rubes about Valentine's Day.
hi Molly, too true. Happy Valentine to you.
back soon
Hello Rbud! Hello Molly! HVD!
It always kind of makes me cringe when people refer to Valentine's Day as VD. : O
mine was always good about it, I could count on a rose or three every occasion (valentine's, mother's day, my bday) but that was when he worked and had a ride every day. now he's officially disabled and doesn't get out that much, so I'll have to help out, lol
Sorry!

as5 + mule + 2 vowels, Marc
Marc, it's an Italian musical notation, meaning "a lot" or "very"
back... reasonably good talk with Tim's school, followed by another row with him and now he has run off again. Darn stubborn kid.
hi sprite x
oh, sprite! How old is he?
got it thanks
hi sarah
he will be 17 in May
just wanna cry now and stop trying. I am so damn tired of him.
sarahlou going be 17 in april she being a pain to must be age sprite

thanks hun *hug* right back at you
she told me she was leaveing home as would not buy her satin bedding
(((sprite))) My son was a problem at that age too. They think they know it all and can be a giant pain; I hope he can find someone who will straighten him out soon.
oh sarah... isn't it incredible
carefull hugs think i have scarlet fever in a lot of pain going doctors tomorr
thanks Nef. I hope so too. He wants it all, he wants it now and he does not want to lift a finger to get it. And hates us for not handing him everything.
ou4 sarah... hope you heal up soon
like you it is hard as do not want her to leave home yet
don't give up; but don't give in either. Pick your battles wisely. Just keep reminding him that it only affects him in the long run.
he flipped me the finger today. I got so mad.
me to hun moveing is not good only place i do not hurt is when in bath but do not think that is helpping it :(
kh5, please?
ok Nef, will remember that. Thanks :)
rhymes with the meditation sound, Marc
17 was tough for us with our son.18 is better.here in canada,18 is age of majority and it seems to straighen them up a bit as they suddenly realize they are now responsible legally for everything they say and do
I ended up kicking our son out the day after he turned 18. we had peace and quiet for 3 weeks and thenhe called me to bail him out of jail. I didn't.
KH + fourth vowel + hesitation syllable
yeah, 18 is legal majority here as well. We can hope.
wow Nef. Good for you. How did that work out in the long run?
indeed,nef.he must pay his consequences
I SO want the peace and quiet back in our home... I really miss it.
thanks Erda got it
YW Marc -- that's a new one...
He did his thing for 2 years; ended up in big trouble and a record. He's now 33 and has found out that his record follows him. But he's 33 now and is a wonderful husband and dad
that makes me a little more hopeful, Nef. Thanks.
I wish someone would have been able to tell him that this would follow him for the rest of his life when he was going through all of that. We tried, counsellors tried, etc. But he didn't really respect them or what they told him (he now admits that).
the first na5/16, please?
and of our 2 kids; he's the one that is there for us most.
yes, we have a similar problem. He demands 'respect', which means he gets his way and we shut up. He still does not realise that respect is earned and not by badmouthing others.
sprite, is there someone your son idolizes or respects that might get through to him?
aw that is good to hear, Nef.
Marc, it is like the one after it, but switch the last 2 vowels
Latin plural of naevus, Marc. Just got it myself...
Um, what about the respect he is supposed to give Mom and Dad?
my son shows a bit more respect now.knowing that as a adult we can toss him out on his ear at any time now gives him pause and he thinks before he speaks
right, Molly. And his teachers etc as well. His mentor just made an appointment with him, on the first lesson hour of the day. And Tim got nasty because he does not like getting up early. So we had to remind him his mentor had to get up early too, especially for him.
I don't know, Molly. :-( I think when kids act out like that they can't see beyond the tip of their noses.
Sorry, it just kills me the way kids demand respect and then go around disrespecting anyone who gets in their way.
Nef, not really. He likes his friends, but they are easygoing. And he likes gaming and hardstyle music.
a mentor at the school was invaluable for us
Hi all. Sprite et al, I am with you all the way with the teen thing, My son started acting out and giving us real trouble at 14. He is now 17 and we are starting to see glimmers of the light at the end of the tunnel.
Molly, I couldn't agree more. That is what we keep telling him. Earn respect. And make sure you do what you plan, so you can have self respect as well. It is NOT freely given.
Hope everyone has a safe and happy valentine's day ♥♡
Michnick, that is SO good to hear.
we managed to get him graduated at high school but it was a close thing:)
hi Enigma, you too
I always want to blame it on the way society praises kids these days; but I don't know
We were very firm, but all the time letting him know we love him - unconditionally - but that privileges AND respect can only be earned.
Thanks, sprite....later
great advice, Mich!
We were told by all the "experts" not to be tough - just love and love some more. Boohissey- kids crave limits.
I think there is a problem with letting kids face the consequences of their behaviour nowadays. Grounding or other punishments are frowned upon. Well, too bad. I can tell you he won't be gaming much in the near future.
exactly, Mich. That's what we do too.
Love is absolutely necessary. And so are limits.
I have to say that having older kids is great. I will tell you it will pass. Be strong and patient but keep your own integrity. Don't let them walk all over you. But always, always let them know you love them no matter what. Then kick them out if they don't behave.
*delurking* you all are making me appreciate my hormonal girls (4 of them) more than I normally would ;-)
hehehe :) I love it how you put that, Marc. Thanks.
You've got it, the discipline pendulum has swung too far in the wrong direction. When I told my son the door gets locked at 9:30 (remember he was only 14) - he had quite a shock when he came home at 10:00 to a dark & locked house. We made him sweat it out, let him sleep at home - but the 2nd time - we never even opeened the door.
hi fruittart, that is a good thing :)
By the way Sprite, thanks for the clue on na5/16
We are not supposed to be their "buddies" we are supposed to be their parents. And kids who grow up with no consequences become adults who don't believe in consequences.
Our daughter-in-law gave me a bunch of nursery rhymes that I'm supposed to sing/say to our grandson. Her therapist took a bunch of old ones and changed them "to build self-esteem" in our 3 1/2 yr old grandson! SORRY!! I use the old words anyway. (what's wrong with Humpty Dumpty not being put back together again?)
fruittart try 6 girls aged 16 to 5 lol thats fun lol
true, Molly. I don't even want his buddie and I told him so. I am his mother. That is my job.
You are so right Nef - let them learn that when the egg breaks - it stays broke!!!
Oh Nef, I am gagging. Good for you for not watering down the nursery rhymes.
Sarah, I have 7 aged 13-23, 4 boys & 3 girls. we have seen it all.
Nef, you are so right! Children and fairytales go together. The witch dies, humptydumpty goes poof forever and so on.
yvw Marc ;)
As a teacher of young children, nursey rhymes are the best thing you can teach children because of the stance, rhymes, and flow of the pieces.
oh man... I am sending my son to you, Mich, lol! You know how to handle him.
i bet hard some days but we get thought it :)
I'm ready sprite!!
I am sad to see first graders in my class who don't know or haven't heard most nr
indeed, carpeve. It teaches them so much about language. But also the meaning.
:D Yay Mich! I sure could use a vacation from him :D
must be why I keep trying 'evict', grinnnn
Wow! There is some wonderful advice here today! We went through rough times with our son; we did our best to maintain a good relationship and it has paid off in the end.
The only one that truly freaks me out is Rock a bye Baby. When I thought about the meaning I just couldn't use it as a lullaby. Talk about giving a kid a nightmare!
lol,i keep hoping to find empty nest in the grid
carpeve: just like learning to string their laces. They teach it at school nowadays. I was baffled, back then... we taught it our kids and it was fun.
Hi again everyone :)
my6, please?
wb smores
Hi smore
looked up rockabye baby. Creepy, yes.
wb smores
Mich, I did change the words to rock a bye baby. The kid falling out of the tree was too gruesome for me too.
sprite, my daughter wouldn't let us teach her to tie her shoes. She was about 3 and went in her room and worked on her shoes til she did it herself. (she's 30 and still ties them very odd)
same as the other my, Marc, but ending in what Windows and Macintosh and Ubuntu are.
I just found other lullabies. The one all my kids remember is the one I made up.
aw that is sweet, Nef. A do it yourselver!
Carp, a lot of kids don't know nursery rhymes because a lot of parents don't bother to read to their kids anymore. Sad.
thanks got it
we used to read with our kids all the time. We even started with english and they are both fluent in it now.
smoresette is home sick, I thought she was resting, but she was babbling, soooo nbt/nbt 1/2 way done
my daughter in law reads them to her son in a normal voice. It freaks me out because I always sing them to him
good job, smorette
Oh I thought it was your daughter playing as you. Wasn't she doing that earlier?
Everything is pre-recorded with lots of bells and whistles. Kids need a quiet room and good book that Mom or Dad reads. If not every day, then as often as possible!
my bookcase was wide open for my son from age 11.i do not believe in changed versions to classic stories that have been homogonized to cater to current political correctness
singing is lovely with kids.
Hi everyone. Bright and sunny here today
howdy bichon
oh dear. Just looked at the time. I need to go now. BBL! Happy Babbling, everyone!
Yes, Molly, I told her to open her own account :)
hi bichon. Snowy here. And... what is it called? When everything freezes over with a slippery layer of ice?
Hi bichon :)
bye Nef!
Careful, some people have regretted opening up their "Babble world" to family members.
Bye nef...enjoy your day :)
I absoulutely hate the new DVDs that come in cars. So much of our special time with the kids was in the car, singing, games, talking. My kids opened up so much in the back seat when we DIDN"T have eye contact - all the hard stuff came out.
mu5/16, please?
black ice? a glaze?
true, Mich! Same for us.
I'll look it up, bichon, I don't know the english word
hi everyone can i have another easy clue for the to9 still dont get it
Families can live together and virtually never interact.
People don't talk to their kids in the car anymore. They just strap them in and plug in the cartoons. Sad.
glaced frost, sheet ice, says my dictionary
reach out and to*** someone
mu5/18= mu+consonant+**to the grid we plunge
we used to sing in the car, and play silly games. Last summer we still did, even.
Mu5/16 rather
lol...when mine were little we sang songs and played 20questions every morning to and from school
Ooo lookie, Jill came out of hiding. Hi Jill. : )
Thin layer of ice, a glazing of ice. Here we call ice that forms over the black asphalt, black ice. You can't see it, but it's slippery
thanks got the mu5
And the license plate game
We played a lot of games, sang songs. Parents do not know what they are missing today!
exactly, that is what I mean, bichon. I am gonna add that to my dictionary!
<----was expecting a Molly quip.. ;)
*Toss Valentine's Lindt to Jill*
License plate game is different in Israel all plates are the same. we used to have the kids look for a sequence of numbers
Hey Jilly :)
Tosses and off I go to the PB.
to 9 pleaseeeeeee
Fireworks, I have to go thanks for all the clues
I remember a trip we took in '81 out to Yellowstone and north to Alberta and back. We got all 50 states and all of the provinces. Great fun

hello ruby
oops

thought i typed on a word
<-- wouldn't mind
Stats for the O please?
It's supposed to be a challenging game. Not sure why people play if they think it's "easy".
you'll never hear me say it's easy. I try to get at least half and nbt and nbs and sometimes get close
whenif irst started playing it was the two week trial period and i did pretty well but thought it was going to stay that way but no such luck
the best part, for me, is when I first see the grid
NEVER MIND dont need the O
Me too Ruby. I enjoy playing when the grid is new and I have chat turned off so I can find words on my own.
I need the 2nd colum a for nbt, stats fould help

Ruby you still here?
our famous paralympian - blade runner - shot his girlfriend in the early hours of this morning and is being charged with murder !!
oh well
hi again all
I heard a little of that this morning ursh..terrible news
early reports thought he mistook her for a burglar but it seems he shot her during an argument - very tragic - one young life gone and one young life ruined
{smores} your name is in the grid!
ursh, I can never understand why anyone resorts to this...why don't people just walk away? Senseless and accomplishes nothing except more trouble.
Hint for the th8 pls
hello again
th 8 - pl of th 6, think gland, begins like an herb
Hey Mimi {{hugs}} sorry I had stepped off for a minute
Hi, flosey!
Hi flosey :)

Yes...lol...and pluraled too
Great clue, teach.

I miss my German Shepherd every day and she has been gone for 8 years. She got lymphoma at age 7 and was gone in six months. Fortunately, had a good vet and I don't believe she suffered much at all.
And, nope, not going to be nice because they DON'T deserve it!!

Just looked up the definition of that one....ick.
Frankly, at this point in time with our political and other troubles, flosey, I'd rather be Canadian.

Hi, bichon!
hi Mimi
What a cute puppy valentine!
ty, it's a bichon Valentine
I noticed that...I am so tempted to get a small dog but I think my cats would have heart attacks.
My dogs would go crazy. They don't mind a dog though
I just have a one-bedroom apt. with three cats....a dog might just send us all over the edge.
I have a small house and two dogs, but it's not a problem
thanks for reminder bichon, have changed my icon
I swore after my German shepherd died and the kids grew up and moved away I wasn't going to take care of anyone ever again...then these 3 strays found me....and cannot imagine my life without them.
down to last word and not finding it, sa6/18 - any clues? please
ah Mimi, lucky you, we had to have our dear old Misha put to sleep, a few years ago now, but just haven't been able to replace her
Flosey, that's exactly how I've felt about my dog. It has been 8 years and somehow having another dog just doesn't feel right....but cats are OK.
at our age now, we realize we'd end up with someone having to find a new home
I've raised and lost so many animals in my life but my Nikky was very special and irreplaceable...she truly was my fourth child. I only had her 7 years...lymphoma took her.
Yes, and two of my cats are feral to everyone but me so that wouldn't work well. And one of them has seizures periodically.
aha, finally found that silly sa6/18 and that's fireworks
now must rush, have a bridge game in less than 2 hours
yeah flosey
Have a great one, flosey!

hello again. I was here this AM and return with 88 left to find...
howdy nef.back myself with 84 to find...
peri, do you ever ask for clues and not find them before someone answers? :-) I get a kick out of how that always works for you: ask for a clue and you find the word yourself! :-D
that's why it is called a peri!:)
very true, crossy
there are times when I really cannot find a word, really.
sometimes I try morewords and cannot see the word until I have asked for a clue
LOL! That's good to know, peri. I've never once finished typing a clue for you before you find it yourself. (Which is probably a good thing for you!) :-)
I have been looking for the 2nd na627 and not seeing it
NM :)
at least I am pretty consistent
see? hehe
See?!?!! :-)
I really and truly did not see it in morewords until I asked for a clue
you are very consistent, peri. (That's why we love you!)
aww, thanks
:-)
and Happy Valentines Day too, BTW
Happy Valentines Day to you, too
anyone doing something special for VD (as my daughter calls it)?
not here :(
need another break, 17 left, bbs
My VD gift from my DH is a gift certificate for 3 hours of housecleaning by a cleaning company. Isn't that sweet? (I would like a flower too, but not happening)
bye peri
<------ Finds it a bit alarming to hear today being described as VD!! In my day VD was a sexually transmitted disease!!!! Hi all. :-)
clue for the to9/102 please
It was in my day too, Soodle; but you know the youth these days! :-)
and good day to you too
Lol Nef. Sorry Maj. Just got here. No idea, but looking.

Spooky music playing in background......... :-)
Ah! Half way now; I'm going to allow myself to list
Emmmm. I have a grand total of 25!! But on the plus side, one of them's a 9.
I have clues for the 8's if you'd like (I was here this AM when clues were flying fast)
Hi Soodle...Happy ♥ Valentine's Day ♥ my friend ♥
Thanks Nef, but I'll just puddle along for a bit longer.....
*Puts a soaky towel under Soodle's chair*
(((((((Molls)))))). Happy VD to you!!! (Never thought I would type those words!!!!)
the visual of Soodle "puddling" makes me want to recommend Depends.....
*Wishes people would not use VD for Valentine's Day* It conjures such icky images.
See mine @ 4.01 Molls. My sentiments entirely!
LOL, Molly! I'm sorry, my daughter has been using that term for years. (I wished that to Soodle first)
Happy Gonorrhea Everyone!!
And many happy syphallisses to you Molls. :-P
It's okay Nef. I'm one of the last vestiges that finds abbreviations abhorrent. Especially for things like Valentine's Day and thoughts and prayers. Some things should just be spelled out. But hey, I'm ancient.
And, I'm the person who has seen all of the STD's and even tertiary syphilis in a patient once..
(I had to look up how to spell that; my computer kept telling me I was wrong and spell check couldn't help)
Consternation Chez Soodle again today. 2 daughters, both with the first initial S. One whose birthday is tomorrow. 5 cards arrived in the post today, addressed to Ms S----------. I'm still picking up bits of skin and hair from the battle of the cards.
Ew Nef, what a claim to fame.
oh my, Soodle. That is hard to deal with I imagine!
She got CARDS IN THE MAIL? REAL LIVE CARDS IN THE MAIL?? Not e-wishes or e-greetings or just a dumb old thumbs up on Facebook? REAL...LIVE...BIRTHDAY CARDS???
what can I say, Molly. I doubt if anyone else on right now can say that unless they are in the medical profession
Oh and it's all your fault for naming them both with S names. I hope they told you that. : P
3 of them, Molls. Plus a Valentine Card for each of them. And Suzie got a bouquet of flowers as well!
Wow, Soodle. sounds like fun!
time to switch laundry loads. BBS
Arra, if the cat had kittens, t'would be my fault. I'm used to it!!!
Girlie is living the good life. I hope that continues. And Happy Birthday to her!
Yup. My baby ain't a baby anymore. 18 tomorrow!
Molls, I'll pass on your wishes. She still speaks VERY fondly of you!!
My youngest just turned 21. I am in complete denial.
Clearly we were both child brides Molly. Teen Moms. Heck!! Preteen Moms!!
Pure as the driven slush.
back. My youngest is now 30; but I always say I was a late bloomer.
Did Son of Molly celebrate the occasion in style, or is he as shy and retiring as his Mom?
Most of the time I don't believe what the years say my age is.
WB Nef.
TY, Soodle
He is not a party boy. More the old soul type. He had fun on his birthday though. : )
Well, thats what counts. Belated congratulations to him on reaching that milestone!
He's been 6' 4" since he was 17 so we kind of already hit the "man thing".
My son was a weed till he was 16. A growth spurt resulted in stretchmarks on his back. He's now 6'4" as well. Far too tall to give him the clip around the ear he sometimes deserves!
I can't imagine a 17 year old being that tall, Molly. My son is about 6'1-2" now; but he took after me and kept growing after he reached 21.
It must have been tricky for your lad, Molls, looking like a man, but still just being a young kid.
All my boys are over 6 feet. We grow 'em big down here on the ranch. : D
Hi Molly, Soodle
Lol!!! The good Irish Mammying they get from you, Molly!!
Not tricky at all. He is the "gentle giant" type. It's never occurred to him that his size is an advantage.
Hello ((((Bich)))))
My son was such a pain at that age; I'm glad he wasn't big and older-looking
th8?
hi bichon
Hi Bich. Are you over your Post Traumatic Snow Syndrome? : D
pl of th 6, a gland in the body
Yes Molly, all is good now
syb; th 8= it's pl of th 6/33; a gland in the neck that is necessary as a child but not so as an adult
Wonderful. May the sun shine and flowers bloom.
ti 6, pls
My older daughter is only 13 months younger than my son (Irish twins!). I often feel guilty that all her milestones went largely unnoticed, as I had seen her brother achieve them a year or so ago. Luckily, she learned to assert herself early in life!
I know of that. My older two are 18 months apart.
Bich, have I missed something important?
good for her, Soodle. My sisters and I are all about 15 months apart (I'm the middle of the 3).
We had 3 feet on snow [actually it was Fri-Sat].
<---Feels the need to burst into a chorus of "Every Sperm Is Sacred"
Oh good heavens!! On both counts... 3 feet of snow & 3 girls within 3 years.
We didn't get plowed out til Monday night. We were snowed in
ti 6
What you blow your nose in
I was the "good" child all of my aunts used to say. My 2 sisters were hellians; Mom would put me down somewhere and chase after the other 2 and when she got them; I'd still be right where she left me
and now it is time for crossy's quote of the day!!!
"Blessed are those who can give without remembering and take without forgetting." ~Elizabeth Bibesco
ty Molly
did you lose power too, bichon?
Did you have power & food & alcohol??
Nef, I so believe you were "the good one". You still are.
lol@ every sperm is sacred.crossy used to love monty python
Or, maybe the slow one, Molly? ;-)
Yes, to all three. We had plenty of warning [although a lot of people decided to go out Friday night to shop]. One family ran out of infant formula. How do you do that?
Bless your Mom, Nef. She deserved at least one 'goog' one!
'Good'
Everyone finds their way of achieving notoriety in the birth order Nef. You just chose the "good girl" route.
she miscarried twice between the boys; then had a set of premie twins and died the following year at the age of 32....
the formula couple would of been the ones i get in my station with frozen up gas lines because they spend their entire lives driving around with 5 dollars of gas slopping around in the bottom of the tank looking for a deal
God bless your Mom Nef. She earned her place in Heaven five times over.
LOL, crossy. I would see some people who'd come to our center and tell us that they ran out of formula for the baby; but they had their cigarettes!
omg
Like I said Nef, Bless her. What a tragically young age she was.
thanks, Molly. We were blessed in that she wanted us kids to have the kind of Christmas she'd had as a child (nice old-fashioned one) and she was in the hospital; so she asked my aunt and uncle to take us for Christmas and she died Jan. 9th. We were very lucky to have them to raise us.
i had one woman in her 60,s she had been coming to my station for years.four dollars in the morning and off she would go and 4 dollars in the evening on her way home.every.single.day rain or shine.one day after going out, prying off her frozen gas cap in minus 35 temps and trickling in her four dollars and standing there while she counted her pennies,i had an idea.i went inside and broke out the calculator and did a estimated time for each of her stops so i would be ready for her next time she came in. next day she comes in and it is a balmy minus 27 and whiteouts and the wind is wafting off the bay at 100 miles per hour.i dribble her four dollars in and go to the window and wait shuddering in the cold as she counts out her change from the sticky abyss of her coffee cup holder.i lean down and say "mam?.do you know that by buying fuel this way from me you spend over 940 hours per year at my station just buying gas?.first she looked distracted as 3 coffee congealed dimes stuck to her fingers then she looked at me shocked by the idea of it all.she paid me and off she went.next time she filled the tank:))
So, now that talked too much; does anyone have any of the I words? I have the peruvian coin and the vine and can't find any more (and yes; I know I listed already; but I still try to find things without Lickety
OMG, crossy! What was she thinking by buying such a small amount of gas?
she just did not like to buy gas
(did she have a "thing" for you?) ;-)
I was raised that you had to have over 1/2 tank of gas all winter so your gasline didn't freeze.
funny thing is,the fuel lines never, ever froze on her car as much as i prayed for it.cap would be so frozen on there with tank condensation that i would have to beat at it with the gas nozzle to break the seal and there would be stalgmites of ice on the underside, but the d**M thing would never freeze up
LOL! It figures, doesn't it?
Iv 5/16. Green growth on old buildings. (Don't know, maybe also peruvian coins....), and ic 4/4, the cold cubes you put in drinks, plural are my only I's.
ty soodles
nah! She fancied our Crossy!
thanks for the ic4, Soodle.
well, after years of hell,i did not have much fancy for her!
Peruvian coins????
tough the ritual of having to soak the congealed coffee off her coins every day did thaw out my hands nicely
old, antiquated form (in4/4)
Funny that! I spent the early part of this evening counting out the change from my coin jar. Without the pennies, I've got €360. Almost $500. Amazing.
our pennies are vanishing fast as the bank recalls them all to send for melting
Wow, Soodle! you are rich! :-) (we save our change all year for "mad money" on vacations; but we haven't had one for a while)
my coin collection is going up in value as we speak:))))))
isn't that sad, crossy?
That's a lot of change Soodle. I try to make a point of spending my change so it won't amass.
i am actually glad to se the demise of the one cent coin
Well I'm delighted. Suzie WILL be getting her XBox for her birthday after all!!!
yaa for suzie!!
crossy, why are you glad to see it go?
best to get an xbox now.i am told the new version of the machine will NOT play previously owned and used games
number one, first and foremost is it was costing a 1.6 cents to make each one
Yay for Susie, Soodle! Will she share with the other kids too?
nuber 2 is that it is devalued to such a point that it is just clutter.so much more sensible to round everything up or down to the nearest 5 cents
all stores now round up or down,if the sale is 2.21 to 2.24,it gets rounded to 2.20,if it is 2.26 to 2.29 it gets rounded to 2.30
nothing here costs exactly 5 cents; everything seems to be "a dollar three ninety eight" these days
and of course that is for cash only.all platic transations continue as normal
okay; glad to hear that part remains the same
the mint, therefore the government, there for mr and mrs takpayer will save 4 million a year by eliminating the penny
glad to see my mad typin skillz are still up to snuff! hehe
She will for sure Nef, if for no other reason than many of the games are two player. But she's been hankering after an XBox for ages, and now she'll get one, and it will be pain free for me, not having to dip into the ever decreasing savings. :-)
the mint estimates there is roughly 6 billion one cent coins in circulation and it will take 3 to 4 years to see the last of them vanish
Excellent, Soodle! (what about the games though? Will you buy her some of those too?)
we are also going to get an x-box for the house before the current model is discontinued
Leave it to a Mother to save up all that money and then spend it on her kid. You are golden Soodle. I hope girlie appreciates you.
We have a Wii; but our daughter has it at her place (DH and I didn't get hooked into playing games on it)
watch for those wimpy 4 gig models though soodles.get a 150-250 gig unit
I'm so glad to have left the days of video gaming and game consoles behind.
Apparently, and I'm no expert, you buy the console, and a 'bundle' of games. All her friends have consoles, so they all share games. I could be talking Chinese for all I understand of this, but seemingly it all makes sense.....
very true, Molly. ANd I agree: Susie should appreciate her Mom's thoughtfulness
hehe, wish i was there to shop with you when the time comes soodles
She's a very low maintenance kid, and a joy to be around. No sacrifice!!
well, may as well dive into the grid..sploosh
Never did understand the appeal of video games. But some adults seem as wrapped up on them as the kids are.
ch7's?
sorry, syb. I don't have it yet but am now looking
ch 7,33 just add a vowel towards the end of the 6 word
chitina
SO SORRY!!!!!!!!!!

It wasn't a word (but thanks for the "clue!) :-)
close but there is a herb for cooking after that.......
I remember one Christmas when Santa brought a playstation. I thought, 'If you can't beat them, join them' and had a shot at it..... All I remember is assorted Soodle offspring roaring PRESS X PRESS X. I bowed out of gaming there and then... C
sourcream and ch****
the 7 might be what you would call baby ones......
We had a game for the Wii called "Animal Crossing" that was fun; but the version we had was for 1 player. I don't know if they have that as a 2 person game now or not; but that was a game that DH could play (no shooting or violence and easy to do)
thx
strange word, Bugs.
glad you got something out of that syb. I was getting worried about my bad clues
monkeys found it. don't know what they are really
Speaking of your DH, Nef, how's he doing?
na7 is my last 7
another plural
got it
he's doing well, Soodle. He saw his Neurologist on Tues and his Neurosurgeon yesterday (today was PT) and they are both delighted with his progress finally.
Something weird here. My Lickety add box has shifted to the right. Help
Good news about Mr. Nef.
I found myself telling him about 2 weeks ago that he should eat and choke and die while I was at work because if he continued to choke around me he'd end up with aspiration pneumonia and it would be better if he'd die instead. He's now paying attention to his swallowing! :-D
Sorry Bich, I don't use expert.
nm, fixed it
(maybe I have caretaker fatigue or something? Do you think?
hi can not sleep so come on here
And you are right about that Nef. My Dad had aspiration pneumonia. 20 days in the ICU until his 02 levels went back up.
I think it is called a reality check Nef. It worked so don't worry
hi sarah
hi nef :)
< What Bugs said...
It did work. I don't regret saying that to him; but I didn't expect to say it. He seems to rely on me more than he should sometimes.
My dad had aspiration pneumonia aa lot. Ended up with a feeding tube
Nef, that is the understatement of the century. : D
it is so easy to slip into a dependency and it is not fair to the person who has to be the hero all the time
since DH has MS; he'd be in ICU on a vent for a long time and I'm afraid he'd end up with a trach.
bichon, did he ever get rid of the feeding tube?
Amen Bugs. Unfortunately, I have been the "leaned on one" all my life. I began to rebel against that some years ago. Best thing I ever did.
Sorry, but could you explain aspiration pneumonia in layman's terms? I never heard of it
It was removed once, but he just got pneumonia again. It eventually caused his death
You are eating too fast and you breathe some food particles into your lungs.
good for you Molly
How did you do that, Molly? I am the one everyone leans on and calls when things go wrong. I'd like to change that sometimes
There could be lots of causes, like GERD
You have to stop being the caretaker Nef. It becomes an addiction after a while.
Sorry, Soodle. I forget that not everyone knows medical terms like that
GERD = Gastroesophageal reflux disease
I think you just started Nef! Remind them that you can't be there for everyone at every moment and it is not fair to you for them to expect it.
basically, if your swallow reflex isn't working so well, the little flap (glottis) that covers the airway in your throat lets food or phlegm or stomach contents into the lungs. The lungs don't like stuff in there and the tiny alveoli (airsacks) plug up.
There you go Soodle. One brief and to the point lay person explanation and one nursie explanation.
My Dad was addicted to pain killers [opiates] and I think that contributed
That's too bad Bich. It must have been hard on your family.
kh 5 please?
I was going to go on some more! :-)
Thanks guys. I'm ashamed to say one of my brothers takes on a huge amount of the caring necessary for my aged parents. But its because he is geographically better placed than me & my siblings. But i'm guilty of allowing him to shoulder most of the day to day stuff, whilst I shimmy in once a week & allow myself to think I'm playing my part.
kh + meditation sound, Bugs
I really had an issue with the doctors who were prescribing it without any real reason for the pain. He said he had fibromyalgia
Soodle; if you go every week and give him the time off; that makes a huge diffeence for him.
got it, thanks Nef
how old was he, bichon?
He was 80 when he died. Not young.
sa 6, 18 please?
Oh Bich, addicts know how to work doctors. And many doctors will write prescriptions without any investigation into the "claim of pain".
I even went to a drs. appt. with them to speak my mind. Doctor didn't want to hear from me
fibromyalgia is a real disease process. But pain pills aren't the way to treat it
I don't have it yet, Bugs but am now looking for it
Nef, notice she said "he SAID he had fibromyalgia".
He went to so many different doctors. I saw one report from a pain management physician who thought he should explore mental health issues
Boys oh boys, is Molly right @ 5.55!
And my dear Mom was his enabler
That is how they work doctors Bich. Never stay with one for too long, so they don't get hip to the addiction.
Sad to say, but that's very true Molly
The doctors in Florida were really eager to give him Oxycontin
I used to work for a guy who was so addicted to Oxycodone that he was stealing prescription pads from doctors we did construction for.
Doctors who treat seniors are the worst. They rarely suspect addiction.
is oxycodone the same as oxycontin? I just assume they are the same
I would like to know why somew areas of the country are so keen to give drugs to patients. A friend went down to LA after Katrina and she said every patient came in to her (she's a Nurse Practioner) and they all claimed they were on Oxycontin and valium for pain.
Oxycontin is a brand name for oxycodone.
ty Molly
Just to lighten this conversation..... A man I work with began to feel very unwell. He deteriorated rapidly, and eventually went to the hospital. After numerous inconclusive tests, a very junior nurse noticed a patch on his backside. She asked him what it was for, and he said he had no idea. It seems that his wife's HRT patch had got detatched from her, stuck itself onto him, and played merry hell with his hormones!! (You gotta laugh)
I started to say no, Bugs; but checked and they are the same
I don't know Nef, but I'm guessing that the rotattion in med school on addiction is pretty short because most doctors are blind as a bat to it.
Or the rotation
poor man but how often did he bathe? Yikes
Said in my best "non medical person" voice: It's all poppy stuff.
I didn't go there , Bugs!!
Although here in MN OxyContin is different than Oxycodone because it's the same as OxyContin with Tylenol (Norco)
I want to know how it took a "junior nurse" to finally notice the patch.
She was probably the one who turned and bathed him, Molly
Hello again everyone :)
hi smores. (I need to go switch laundry loads again, BBS)
hmm...I changed my icon but my panda is still on here
Refresh
And if you are in Expert, forget it because Expert is not user friendly with icons.
Tried refreshing, oh well, guess it will change eventually.
And don't worry Molly, it's not a weemee. :)
Waaaay past my bed time. Good night friends, and enjoy whats left of St Valentine's Day.
Good night, Soodles! (back just in time!)
Night Soodle...sleep well :)
Hello just getting started after a slow day. I made a pumpkin pie and would like to cut you a slice. Do you prefer vanilla ice cream of whipping cream on top, Molly?
smores, your icon changed for me when I refreshed
Hi stidg :) sounds yummy
hi stidg!
*Hugs Gran Mere* Whipped cream please. : )
Very, well. One for Molly, one for Nef, one for Smores and Bugs are you there? I'll save one for you.
*Puts a pretty Valentine bouquet of red roses and baby's breath on Gran Mere's table*
Thank you stidg, I'll have whipped cream too. :)
And I made PB (peanut butter) kiss cookies this AM for the PB; I hope there's some left yet.
We are all prettied up. Peanut butter cookies make me want to wind up in the pb very much. Oh good. I'm there.
No toppings on mine please. I like my pumpkin pie "nekked" (as my daughter would say)
hi all, need help with my last two words pls. the sa6/18 and the sa5/20 after it
Okay nef. Scraping the whipped cream off. Piece looking like a bad plaster job. Cutting a fresh piece for Nef. Murphy getting the rejected piece.
don't have any s words, peri.
hi peri, sorry don't have them either....looking
sorry, peri, I don't have that one either (but am looking)
thank you stidg!
yw nef.
peri, is there a sa 5/20? I can't see it on Likety
meant sa5/10 sorry
and FW
(sorry, my spelling is bad tonight)
sa6/18 is alike a group of mentally healthy people
going to play WwF bye for now
But I guess she got them so never mind.
TY, Molly
WTG peri...once again you found it before it was clued..lol
Oh glad it helped you Nef. Peri just whooshed in here, found her words, and whooshed out.
Yes she did :)
and thank you
found the sa5/10 too :)
Oh and Smores, thanks for your icon not being a "you know what". (Can't talk about them anymore, people get huffy)
:) yw
It's a pic of my dog, she is 13 today.
Did you watch Touch yet?
No, not yet, I did get to watch Bones though.
You said it was a 2hours special, right?
Yes, Touch is two hours. Not really a special, they just aired two episodes in one night to kick it off.
Bones was okay. I'm still waiting for Pilant to come back and take Christine. Probably be the season finale.
Hopefully I will be able to watch it tomorrow
Yes, I have been thinking the same thing.
Is Mother still in the room? I am about to leave school and wondered if she needs me to stop by a store for her on the way home.
*waves at happy babblers*
<---waves back to stid :)
BRB....dog needs out, too much "cake" lol
:-) guess Mother's busy. I'll call her later... have a lovely evening, all! *poof*
You as well stid...bye :)
grr...craving coffee but it's too late
Time to hit the whiskey then.
:) many years too late for that one.
oh darn. I missed stid. I went to the bathroom then took out the trash and recycling. I took too long I guess
Nef, you need to lose the jargon of one who is "always available". You didn't "take too long" you just weren't here when she was here. It all starts with the way you think. : D
okay, Molly. I'll work at it. But I did want to ask if school is going better....
stats for the 8's & 9 please?

Hooray! The caretaker is cared for!
Bye for now Nef...enjoy your dinner :)
I think I'm done for the evening, leftovers put away, laundry finished, dog and cats taken care of, kids settled in watching a movie.
hi all!
Looks like my chill time came early :)
Hi Sue :)
hi smores!
How are you and frank doing?
cute pup, smores!
we are ok, smores, he has his pump on until tomorrow and that is always hard on him
You saw my dog? It's still showing the panda on my screen.
I had to refresh (since I was seeing my icon from yesterday) and when I did I see your dog.
Cool, I have refreshed a few times but still not showing here.
It's her birthday today, she is 13
how sweet!
So I have 3 teenage girls in the house now...lol
cute :-)
I thought this was the week Frank had the pump, I recall last week you saying it was his week off.
Bet he's looking forward to tomorrow.
he is indeed. It is a constant reminder of his condition; without it he can forget for a while.
So is he feeling well enough on his off weeks to forget? That is wonderful.
for the most part he feels ok; his worst side effect from the chemo now is really dry skin.
Have they given him a special lotion or cream? Make sure he takes care of that, I've heard that can cause infection.
Enable is not up on foods, I see; yesterday it wouldn't take bento and today it won't take seitan. Sigh.
Those are foods? Never heard of either of them.
yes, he has some medicated lotion for the rash, and then he uses regular lotion on the rest.
:)
a bento box is a Japanese lunch; seitan is wheat gluten, often used as a meat substitute by vegetarians (who don't have celiac disease)
I can get them both here in DeKalb; I figure they can't be all that weird
Oh okay, just your average run of the mill foods then. : P
I had heard of seitan, didn't know what bento was.
there are a few players here who are bento....
So bento isn't actually food, it is what they put thier food in?
harhar ruru
yes, I misspoke a bit earlier
That's okay, I learned something new :)
Bet the kid who shows up at school with seitan and tofu in his bento gets beat up on the playground.
lol
haha :-)
although there is a sizable Japanese community in the northwest Chicago suburbs, might not be so strange there
<---avoids making PIC comment
wow ruru, I'm shocked :)
shocked that I showed restraint?
yep :)
well.... don't get used to it... :D
lol...I wouldn't

Sorry, didn't see the not yet to clues.
LOL Molly :)
thanks molly

But you stubbled along until you found it.
I love this humour!
I beardly found it
Cutting edge!
I find it absolutely charming of Liz to ask if clues are needed instead of just blurting them out. : D
So "Englishly" polite!!!
yeah.. too bad you didn't read that before huh? :D

Oh lovely, sorrel and chopped egg. We can add that to the kid's bento box.
So we'll know what to look for in a grid full of "H"
*Waits for JMC to start slamming Jack and singing Hava Nagila*

Oa 5 Watering holes int he desert!
Hi again.
Hi Nef :)
syb; do you know about Lickety's Babble Clues yet?
and more words.com?
they really help when the going gets nasty.
Would be nowhere near completing this grid without morewords! Tough grid for me!
hi Lizlin
Did say hi earlier Nef but guess you were deep in grid!

back
Still nice to be cooked for!
Hi again jmc :)
hey, BR; how are you doing these days? Surviving the Antarctic weather?
blech
hi jmc; is that blech a comment about the weather or the grid?
both plus the fact that i have been sneezing all day
The weather may be challenging but I am doing fault work in plate tectonics
jmc; don't get sick!
i think it is allergies. . .
really, BR? related to the fracking or???
Being alive is the source of all allergies
LOL!
well i guess dying cured my hubby's allergies then
Looking at the results of plates colliding
earthquakes?
are you cognizant of any allergy complaints since his untimely demise?
I seriously wonder about the effect of fraking on plate tectonics myself.
he hasn't complained. . . .
interesting topic since i live on the west coast of the us
san andreas is very active
hi wyrd
Fracking is terrible.
i just wanna know how close i am to the bubbling pile of underground lava
The science channel is talking about the San Andreas fault right now
hi jmc :)
hi invictus
i watch the earthquakes every day
hello
and they do happen just about every day there too, don't they?
i think in cali they do, but not in oregon
Around 300 million years ago, the landmass of the Earth comprised of one supercontinent, Pangea. Because of tectonic forces pulling and pushing, Pangea broke up into smaller pieces and drifted away and formed what is now the present configuration of the Earth. From Pangea to what is now the seven continents of the Earth, there have been several upheavals. The continents drifted away, crashed into each other and some joined together.
they had them in nevada all day yesterday or the day before
invictus, I totally agree with you about the fracking. Yet I have relatives that are thrilled with it because it's "helping the economy!"
*comes in singing - the world is a mass of incandescent gasssssss*
hi again all!
At the cost of millions of people's health and the future of our planet.
too bad they export much of that oil, along with our food
nice welki
hi uu
hi sue and welki.
hi :)
i wonder if i live on western or eastern pangea
well we have to pay for our computers and cell phones someway
I live in North Dakota and fracking is a regular occurrence .... my congressional delegation understands where their campaign funds come from ... despite the seemingly disastrous environmental consequences
alberta has over 170,000 fracking wells - there are only about 175,000 in all of canada. it's a mess.
that is part of why i got interested in campaign finance reform BR
There are beginning to be earthquakes here in TX due to fracking.
and there are earthquakes in Ohio too from fracking.
That is in the middle of a tectonic plate!
Pangea: http://tinyurl.com/b8f3wqs
Between 1847 and 1994 there were more than 110 recorded earthquakes of magnitude three or greater in Texas.
...sounds like the country is fracking their brains out
earthquakes, contamination from fracking fluids - money, money, money
if it were only brains ru!
hi ru
hi welki
I actually felt an earthquake a few months ago. I thought I was just dizzy or losing my mind until I saw it later that day on the news!
hi ruru
heya nef
we had one here in northern Illinois a couple of years ago, didn't have anything to do with fracking, though
we don't need to frack in california to have earthquakes
BR; I remember being in 3rd or 4th grade and my aunt was going to night school for her Masters degree (80 miles away) and she cut up a map to show us kids how the different land masses fit together.
and there i am again, reminded of another song, "i feel the earth move under my feet..." happy 71st birthday, carole king!
They are crazy about oil here. I live right down the street from the site of the Lucas Gusher.
good god carol king cannot be 71! i reject that it would mean i was old
me too, jmc!
invictus have you ever gone to the babe ditrick zacharias museum on 10?
it would mean that we are finely matured
Carol King did a concert here in Margaret River West Australia only last weekend and she sure didn't look 71
I went to that museum every single year of elementary school!
i keep wanting to go there but they close at 5 pm and I am always late
lemme check - i'm sure that's what i heard *googling*
hi sandy
february 9, 1942 - so yes,, 71
dang!
hi jm long time no see
Atlantis (in Greek, Ἀτλαντὶς νῆσος, "island of Atlas") is a legendary island first mentioned in Plato's dialogues Timaeus and Critias, written about 360 BC. According to Plato, Atlantis was a naval power lying "in front of the Pillars of Hercules" that conquered many parts of Western Europe and Africa 9,000 years before the time of Solon, or approximately 9600 BC. After a failed attempt to invade Athens, Atlantis sank into the ocean "in a single day and night of misfortune"
i watched a program on tv - she performed with james taylor. was greaaaat!
how is the building coming sandy?
That isn't one of the best parts of town. There was at least one drive-by shooting DURING a high school football game at Babe Zaharias Stadium.
Hello again :)
ok jm, we have moved since I was last on here, and at the moment we have put down the sand pads for two chalets and our shed- LOL- we are sort of up market camping at the moment

hi dorens
hi j
what's going on with Welki (or ???)
uhm - let them figure out that a good roll in the hay may help - that's not my department :)
hahaha
LOL - just a few minutes more
aah! Sending new baby vibes to whomever, welki! :-)
nef, my daughter is due on the 22nd - has gone into premature labour twice already, but now the baby's a good size (a BRUISER! 8.5 estimated pounds) and his/her arrival is expected any time
Oh! Is it her first?
second
8.5 is a bruiser. . .
i've learned they come when they're ready. I had one three weeks late (and he was conceived using basal temperature chart, so I knew when he was really due
I always went into labor the morning after eating at Outback Steakhouse.
LOL!
I know, should we tell?
sure
you're right, dorens - when they're good and ready
Our son was conceived the same way, Dorens. He was 9# 12 oz. and 5 hours late!
the boy was 12 lbs and a month late
5 hours late??/ how can that be late, net? sounds like you timed that one right.
lol....when I was pregnant with my 1st an elder neighbor whom I didn't know very well as we had just moved, told me if I wanted to induce labor " .. sex is both the cause and cure for pregnancy"
My daughter was 5 lbs 10 oz 5 weeks early and my son, 8 lbs 3 oz 3 weeks early.
<--Mother of 9, 10 and 11 pound boys
that was what i said earlier smores
12 pounds, jmc!!!???!???!? holy mackaloney!
yow
both my boys were 8.3, daughter was 8.4- that was plenty big for me
molls and i make a complete set
we had a 10.5 lb boy, but 12 is .... big
set of what, j?
worth two of them. . .
Yeah, my son was a shoulder dystocia. I couldn't have had a bigger baby!

ty jmc. DONE
Do I hear 13? Anyone? 13? Anyone?
Dorens; my bag of waters broke 3 days earlier and where I was hospitalized they wanted him born earlier than he was. I was induced, drugged, etc. but he was born 5 AM on June 7th; (due on the 6th).
i love this game.. you ask for ih 5 and I know exactly what that is without even looking at the grid. been playaing too long
i heard that sammy davis jr was 13 . . . .
Nef they let you go THREE DAYS after your water broke?
okay - now it's time to say g'night. g'night. :)
g'night welki
g'night welki
glad it all worked out well nef
niters welki!
WTG Harry :)
Molly, they really tried to get him born before that; but they also thought he was only going to be a little less than 8 lb.

i don't know nothin' bout birthin' no babies
:) night jmc
good night Harry and jmc
haha i knew someone would catch on ty dorens
*poof*
LOL! Dorens, I used to say that before I got the job as director of the prenatal program in the pregnancy resource center I've been working in for the past 4 years. But I'm a quick learner and worked with some great people who taught me a lot
So Nef, they weren't worried about infection?
they were. They drugged me up with IV antibiotics. My delivery was mis-managed; but luckily, we survived in spite of them
Of course, my son was born with collapsed lungs and had to spend his first 5 days in NICU (he looked like a whale compared to all the premies there!
Glad it had a happy outcome. I know hospitals won't let a woman go longer than 24 hours. Midwives will sometimes let labor go on longer if there are no signs of fetal distress.
this was a teaching hospital and I was their guinea pig. They wouldn't listen to me or my DH. We had no say in any of it re: what we wanted. Never again! We moved out of that city and I refuse to go near there ever again
Poor baby, that is usually a premature baby's problem.
Can't say I blame you for that. Sounds terrible.
Sometimes I feel like that Joe Btfsplk character from Lil Abner....
But I've survived anyway! :-D
No!! No dark rain clouds over your head!
Not any more (I hope) :-)
Dorens, I remember that line from "Gone With the Wind". The lady that played Prissy lived here in Augusta. She died several years ago when the little house whe was living in caught fire. I can't remember her name right now though.
May I please have a clue for ih5-14? Thanks
Butterfly McQueen?
Butterfly McQueen ..

Yes, tor, thanks.

Need to make a phone call......bbl.
All of a sudden, smores. She was here under my chair begging for attention; then suddenly howling like a baby and took off for the basement. She threw up on the way down.... :-( DH couldn't "figure out how to clean it up!
Good night peach :)
ewww...possible just hair ball?
no; it looked like she'd gobbled her food down too fast.
sometimes my long haired cat will have trouble with one and throw up...disgusting
Firworks!
WTG!!! :)
well I am off to bed, good luck with the cat :)
I don't "DO" vomit. Never could handle it (even though I'm a nurse!). It's always been DH's job because he can't stand my retching.
(I used to tell my patients in the hospital that if they felt sick, let me know because I had drugs for that. I also told them I'd vomit if they did!
niters, smores.
yea, I don't do well with it either, got over it some when I had kids of course...lol
night :)
take care!
Okay, does anyone else need any clues? I'll be leaving soon.....
