yes, always enjoyed doing them many years ago
I have never tried one online... not sure how I would do without "touching" the pieces lol
wh 7 x 2 so far
ty for the ba7, Dee.. thought that was a proper name
I do find the space small for sorting the pieces
so did I; yw

dunno, but clues are up, so he must have.
sweet dreams. i'll turn in now too. *poof*
good morning
hello sweetie. how are things today?
((rose))
in a holding pattern. How about you? Have the meds kicked in?
what is the disability payment system there? In France, I think people make as much money working as not
{{{ruby}}} the meds kicked in last night..i slept for 8 hours straight. and lasted until 4:30pm before muscles started to spasm. so, am doing really well.
ruby....have been thinking about that. i need to make an appointment with the appropriate people to discuss my options. today was really busy at work. had my first taste of 5 theatres running, and only 3 staff to recover the patients. got a bit ha4y, i can tell you.
if the economics would allow it, I would think you'd be better off at home, fully recovering for a while, before tackling those insanely long days on your feet!
hi rose and ruby, good to hear you are feeling positive results from meds, rose, I'm off now, just finished, last words, ar6 and 7
*smiling at you* yeah, i know...but i still have the investment property to pay off.
goodnight and hugs
WTG FLOSEY!!!!
sleep well, dear friend. see you on the morrow
yay flosey! jut started
tks rose and ruby, I found it moves along nicely ruby - along with Lickety's help
if you took home "cases" for a while, at only a few hrs/week, could you collect disability?
yay, DH has just fixed the vacuum cleaner...the stupid woman who comes to clean mother mac's rooms, yanked on the power cord so hard she broke the wires inside the cord.
FWs night all
WTG DIZ!!!!
hell and bye and grats, dizgrannie!
hello* whoops
and done. ruby, that is an option....i did do home nursing for a while. but the income is very variable.
my grandmother used to work "baby cases", but that's many many years ago
the home nurses here make as much money as the MD.s
when Burt was bitten y the dog, a nurse visited for months
and I learned a lot from her (can give shots now, can change deep dressings, et)
of course. the MD's don't make very much. less than the vets!
lol, isn't that just the way....i mean an animal doctor earns more than a human doctor...if you see what i mean....
we are Lucky with out vet. she mKES HOUSE CALLS AND ONLY CHARGES 25 EUROS BECAUSE IT'S ON HER WY HOME (AT EAST THAT WAS FOR rUBY)
whoops, didn't mean to shourt
or even shout*
s'okay....can't hear you over here, anyway.
smll voice, even shouting
and dinner is ready. i think i had better go. have fun with the grid, dearest. see you tomorrow?
yes, enjoy your dinner
love and hugs, hun.
((rose))

I seem to have hit a wall with 103 left. Guess I will hit the list.
I have started on my first run..started with the B and am onto the first S...have 73 words so far.
hello everyone :)
thanks for the br8
Hello, Annie!
Hi zooz, weather here is gorgeous today, hurray
well, so far the list is not helping with the A's.
Im still on the B\
Sunny day here too..still a nip in the air though..good to hear you are having nice weather too, Annie.
B
36F and sunny here right now. Supposed to get up to 55.
nice!
was 60 something yesterday, and I suspect my husband either turned off the heat or turned the AC on because it's freezing in here this a.m.!
can you turn the heat back on?
yes, but I'm too busy babbling. ;-)
I'm drinking coffee, so that should help.
first things first, I always say
and of course my kids still wore shorts to school. there were days when it was like 25 out and off they went to the bus stop in shorts.
my grandkids do that. Im in a winter coat and there they are in shorts.
You get that here too, Hokie..people with t-shirts on and it was like 1c outside...they must be mad..lol
This grid looked easy at first.
wassup folks
Hi River!
Hello, River.
I used to have a rule that if it got below a certain temp they had to wear pants, but I got tired of arguing with them. If they want to freeze, they're old enough.
my son is 16 and wears shorts every day to school....i have bigger battles to take on than that one
wassup, River!
Annie I totally agree about the grid - looked easy and then came to a grinding halt with 101 to go
River, even when there was snow on the ground?
through every storm Annie - cute at the bus stop in shorts and a winter jacket - at least he wore a jacket
Hi again :)
mine consider a hoodie a jacket. So, shorts & hoodie with a T-shirt underneath everyday.
They are all the same. When I saw my grands (on a visit) I almost fell down. In the twenties, shorts and a hoodie. I said Im coming back in the summer.
and if it's raining, they think the hood is an umbrella.
LOL , youre right~
lol...seems t be a lot of that going around. My two both wear pants, but consider a hoodie a coat
Clue please for tr 7/48
mine will take the umbrella and leave it on the ground at the bus stop and pick it up in the afternoon
that's funny, river
sorry gran...don't have it yet...looking
me either
looking also, but I found tr 6/18, sad in french
mine has done that once, but I picked it up on my way out.
I am already gone by the time the bus comes

ah thanks for that one river. i don't like it either, but it's not as bad as the indian ritual in which a widow throws herself on her husband's funeral pyre.

argh, if i could just get 2 more words, that would bring me to 90%
i have a recipe question. i have a reipe someone once gave me, alling it irish soda bread, but it is unlike any i have seen. i love it it is a buttermilk loaf baked in a pan, sort of like scone.
aha i got one...
what exactly is the question, TO?
aha i got two!!!!!
list time
i love it but for some reason it came out cakelike. i think it needs to be more biscuitlike. not sure what i did this time.
I knew you would
No clue about Irish soda bread, TO
make sure the butter is cold and cut it in like a biscuit
ty, kje! i really love the recipe, easy and economical. not muh butter or sugar
hmm, maybe you should share it. ;-)
the top came out weird as well, a dry matte looking top
well i know in brownies the more eggs the more cakelike but i assume there aren't eggs in the bread.
lol carla, maybe i should! how can you help me if you don't see and taste it?
yes, there are two. makes two loaves.
i have several reliable soda bread recipes if you want to just ditch that one
finally made it through the SH's, and now the ST's are causing problems.
clue for tr7?
i would be glad to do so in person, but can only do so vitually. kje, thank you.
from someone earlier, three prefix + george bernard ****
i will never dith this one, just rename it.
ty hokie
ty hokie
2nd ST6/21?
two loaves from two eggs, 3/4 stick butter and 1/2 c sugar is relatively healthy bread.
nm
any hints for the 9, pls
this is a delish sweet breakfast bread (soda bread) that I make for company - best warm out of the oven... amazingly easy, but my fave flavors of orange and chocolate http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food\n/views/Soda-Bread-with-Dark-Chocolate-\nand-Candied-Orange-Peel-231866

wow, that sounds like quite the organizational feat, une!
i have heard there are tons of pets in nj displaced after the storm. it is surprising that nj would take more. but that looks like a perfect doggie for nrkii!

hi all :)
and i am off to walk to the bank and then work . . .bbl
first half was really easy - now to get down to work!
hi and bye cyber. . .
183 left. . . *poof*
good afternoon babblers :)
hello kate
hi there teach, how's the grid today?
just starting - but lots of good suffixes to use
Wow. Did I miss Babble. Hi, y'all!
i'm just getting started myself, scooped a few good hints from a few minutes ago in the chog - was able to find some of the longer words all by myself <look of smug ssatisfaction> searching out the st 8/50 now with no luck though. will leave it until i have fished out the easy ones :)
hi judi!
have the su 8 - anyone know what the other one is?
oyh - no - that is an su 9 - have the br 8
molly said st 8/50
have a BR 8/55
hi all, help with the st8 pls
back and eating lunch while babbling
looking for that one too, peri
st 7 -- first day a company is in business; pl
have a couple of st 7's but not seeing the 8
ty babrab
thanks BR!
thanks BR! and hello :)
Hmm. Methinks there should be a hyphen on that one,
ty BR
airpen should be a word too -- I have one for drawing with glazes on ceramics
98 left and listing - have other things to do today
Wassup? Must be a word. I hear it all the time.
;)
shaw
oops
ba 7, please?
one more r and we'd have barrister
ohhhh monkeys found it -- almost deceased dictator
(Cuba)
have no idea who was before castro
just change final vowel
rhymes with ar7/28
some of these words are bull shit like posh and teat
troll?
it's been awhile . . .
most likely
BBL *poof*
hi all- not long enough. :D
looks like a good puzzle today
hi wolvie
ah - ty une
Une's favorite word is in the grid today...pu4. : D
lol
i'm not seeing it nan - but i don't have the ar 7/28 either
trader- ba 7 like the religion, only remove the p, and add a vowel at the End. :-)
ar 7- some one in the ar 4. or an actor maybe. big maybe, lol
and the penny drops... jtanks sue
yw- i signed on at the right time- 2 good words to get going with
ahhh, thanks wolvie - forgot to add the hoit-toity vowel on the end of the ar 6/18
in here,peri?
*The French all gasp*
i think peri poofed crossy gonna make a bevvie, bbs lol @ molly ( hope i haven't offended ;)
os
sorry for the random shout out...
was just trying to get a few words before studying.
mm,peri is acting odd.oh well.howdy peeps:)
I think some people poofed thinking there was a troll. False alarm, I guess.
we have a troll in here today?
bbl doggie walk time. hagd
objecting to words does not a troll make
indeed,i object to un-wrds all the time.howdy jmc
exactly. . . i think people are getting skittish since it has been such a long time between trolls
a good troll once a month would keep things level:))
Except a) those are not un-words and b) most people don't use bull shit when they object. I can see why people thought troll.
glad you replied, jmc, thought my type was not getting out;)
that might be a little too often crossy!

hi again all!
Great news - Frank's PET scan came back completely clean!!!
must not like cardinals much..
suze!!
YAAAAA FOR FRANK!!
Every time the Cardinals take a vote, they send a smoke signal. Black smoke means no decision yet. White smoke means Pope has been selected.
so, does anyone have a clue for the 3rd st 7/32
think they would use the phone....
no crossy they have been doing this since before most forms of communication than writing so a puff of white smoke means a new pope

remember, our sister site at foldit dot com hat a hit just last year!!
Apparently he's not a big fan of the pope.

wtg crossy
thanks, river, now I have two st7 :-)
st 7/32= id-d-d-dont kn-n-n-ow how t-t-o clue this
There are 6 st 7's

With a different vowel.

;) my pleasure, nice to return the favur oncein a while, though i think i must learn how to spell playrite??? neither spelling looks right to me
ty kate
spelling has never stopped me from playing a word game, kate:))
what are toast soldiers
yummmy, haven't had a soft boiled egg and soldiers in ages
playwright
(just being helpful :-)
regular toast, cut width ways into 4 pieces to when you pop the top off your soft boiled egg, you can dip with them
thanks sue - that's it... just like a wheelwright etc.
ah...thanks for the explanation
my mum always used to call them toast soldiers when i was small
it's more of a british expression river.
since my mum and da are both welsh, that would explain that:))
we came over in 66 and some expressions never die
I think it is cute
really crossy?
indeed,kate
i was born in watford materinty home U.K was a wee barin of 2 pounds 2 oz
Toast soldiers, bangers, the British breakfast plate is interesting.
i was sure that you were native, i guess because of where you are and your icon? welsh are way cool, love the lilting accent
and look at you now - you brute
:P
holy cow, crossy, you were lucky to survive! That was very tiny for back then.
i am not a brute,i am..husky..woof
gosh, you were tiny!
was indeed suze
my dad has pics of me in a face cloth for a diaper
brute is a compliment in my opinion
:))
triss
... a compliment like you big ol' teddy beaar
oops sorry - thank goodness it is not a real word
I am so stuck with 54 to go

I know. I hope so too but my computer is 8 years old.
hagd nan
ahhh, so if you get a new one you will be very very up to date... windows 8 and everything!
I windows 8 very different from windows 7?
Is
Windows 8 is strange. If you can get Windows 7 I'd suggest doing it.
apparently it is much more intuitive, but i have not seen it first hand
on my little lappie, i'm still running xp pro
sue, I am not computer savvy so thanks for telling me that.
I will go to Best Buy and look at windows 7 and 8 but I am sure I will stay with what I know.
I have heard that Windows 8 works best with a touch screen; the keyboard/mouse interface apparently has some issues.
windows 8 works best with touch screen yes.
Windows 7 it is. I use my computer for mail, information (I love Google Chrome) and games. That's about it. Purely recreational. I dont want to start with something I dont know anything about.
I have windows 8 on this computer but we installed win 7 on it to use instead
yeah stay with W7 for now Annie. stiill a lot of bugs in W8
thanks cosdem
very nifty though W8 is.. maybe in 5 years we'll all be using it like W7 :)
anyway. Hi all! just here for a few. its 60 outside. 70 tomorrow. gonna enjoy it!
any clue wanted before I leave?
My dad (who would very much prefer to still be using DOS) got a new computer with Windows 8 on it, and he is not happy.
Go outside and play, cos!
itll be mid 60s for at least the next 8 days
nice cos! we've got crap weather here today thnks annie

hi and bye ivesy!
and hi nanette!
Okay this is WAY too soon. Something is not right at The Vatican.
well, they did make it clear they wanted the new guy in place and up to speed for easwter...
idk. this is the 5th vote. most popes have been elected on 4th or 5th vote. from what articles are saying
theyre pre-empting my game shows :(
poor monty hall...
Who's behind door number one? Is it Cardinal Scola?
;))
Benedict has changed his mind.
Cool. There are do-overs at The Vatican. : D
really? there willbe another vote?
lol I was kidding. idk if benedict really changed his mind or not :P
if its peter turkson itll make things very interesting. the last pope is prohesised to be a Peter lol
ah, but just like royalty, they change their names upon taking the throne
Surprise! It's a woman. Pope Peter Paul Mary.
from what I understand it would be his christian name that was Peter
lol molly
when i was a kid i thought that was an actual pope
peter paul mary :/
they're allowing the poope to marry?
Are there Vegas odds on this?
theres vegas odds on everything
google says yes lol.
lemon tr 4/4 very pretty, and the lemon flower is sweet, but the fruit of the poor lemon is impossible to eat :)
The crowd is killing me. WE WANT POPPA!!
just announce already so i can go outside
I need to go and make dinner soon!
let's hope the band means something
I didn't know The Vatican had a marching band : )
i have a friend on FB bitching like hell about bold and beautiful being pre-empted lol
if they start tossing their batons I'm giving up lol
lol katie
fire batons!
Will The Swiss Guard do a 21 spear salute?
on BBC news "God knows who the new Pope is....... unfortunately we don't yet"
the pause made it lol
Oh, here comes the B-band.
lmao
does anyone know a web site to watch live?
You can bet Cardoza High School is not there. : P
the view on ABC of the band reminds me of the winkies in the wizard of oz marching into the witch's castle
cnn.com has a live feed
Oh we love, the POH-OH-OPE.
yep I see where you are coming from. I assume all the feed is the same as bloomberg, bbc and sky all have the same
just bobble heads on most channels right now
we like to have the pictures with people twittering on over them but not on camera
this is quite a spectacle to see
Get comfy Cos. They just said it could be 20 to 25 more minutes.
I'm getting really hungry though lol
if I go and start dinner it will happen
ABC said 10-15 lol nbc said 15-20
probably annie
been on a diet forever so mealtimes are very important lol
do u have a small laptop or tablet u can take to kitchen?
or a smart phone. maybe a radio?
I lose signal in the kitchen unfortunately. I could do the radio but really wanted to see it
News flash: New Pope already a problem. Interfering with meal times.
New pope chosen but we don't know who, eh?
I wouldn't mind but I'm a protestant lol
#firstworldproblems lol yeah seeing it is more fun i guess
I'm usually a really big radio fan but who knows when this will happen again so I did want to watch it
I like to put pictures to everything so I can visualize it so I like seeing it happen live.
Theyre all putting visine in their eyes ;-)
abc news: we will know if the new pope will be warm or stern soon.
Wassup, folks?
Perhaps, Molly, the Swiss Guard could muster a 21 -harquebus salute! That would be very exciting, if only to see if any of the guns blow up.
were waiting with anticipation Jan
Me,
achht..this keyboard wil kill me
arent they tired of waving their hands screaming yet?
i only have 98 words is anyone almost done hat can give me some hints?
tried to get the cnn feed, there is sound that cuts in and out, but no video... probably the computer? (at internet cafe)
that's a lot of waiting around for a man in a funny hat
:)
I wonder if there are street vendors selling POPE QUEST 2013 t-shirts.
abc, cbs and nbc all have news feed too if that helps?
okay, got constant video, audio still cutting out?
abc interviewing americans wearing US flags as a cape
i have captions on so idk about audio :P
CBS as well, cos.
good evening all
I'm watching the Italian feed, which is quiet besides the murmurs of the crowd freaking out
oops I am watching cbs not abc lol
I thought it was odd they were both doing the same interview. =)
... and I can hear the journalists off screen talking technicalities with the feed
the cnn seems to be the italian feed, no americans talking -italians translating to english - so no commentary
yeah bea thats why i double checked lol
sorry davids, have bout the same as you. i come in and find afew words at aatme to escape the pain
People waving their rosaries at the camera is not striking me as particularly religious.
*tries again* Good evening, all!
hi sprite
hiya cos!
david - do you know about lickety's list?
hi ((sprite))
hi sprite
hi sprite!
hi Kate, Nanette and mael :)
we are all waiting with ba 4/6d breath...
jeez during presidential election results the network goes on commercial breaks.. not today!
Oh enough about The Room of Te4s already.
cbs talking about st. peter and how he died lol
I'm assuming that no one in Rome is working today.
half waiting for tom hanks to show up with the atom bomb
:)
i guess we lost david the not-a-troll.....
Well, I doubt the new Pope will parachute into St. Peter's square, like the Queen. : D
looks like it
lights atre on!
took him long enough to get dressed! sure it's not a woman????
the cardinals needed to each kiss his ring too. and he has to pray as well lol
pope-in-drag??
i think they just want to make sure they have time to get as many eyes as possible on a screeen
The people on Twitter are truly twits.
mid afternoon in the states where the media is? yeah.. that would make sense actually
before the 6pm news too!
here we go
my confirmation name is francis
my screen on cnn is static, no audio either :(
I am stunned. An argerntian pope
pope francis?
Francis de Assai was a great man. prob not the same one he choe the name from
He was not expected at all. Soodle is going to faint that they elected a Jesuit.
I am stunned. Wow.
There's a new Pope?
Pope Francis. Yes.
so the dark horse won?
From Argentina. Wow.
The twits are already calling him Pope Super Mario
lol why?
Francis Pope is an actor/writer
So what does this all mean? Is he going to modernize the church or is it the same old
same old same older, I think, bichon
Mario is his middle name.
Excited. I have something to do tonight now. I get to research the new pope :)
This was a very conservative choice.
Oh well, secular me will return to babbling
is he close to the curia?
will read your findings on FB, as usual, cos :)
count on it sprite :)
good!
hi bichon, can you give me that skating web site again? i forgot to write it down
he looks cold.
does not look friendly at all.
cold and old, that Jorge Mario Bergoglio.
http://tinyurl.com/kt6xyj
He looks grim
sure does
ok i take it back. he looks better now that hes talking
Why does the Catholic Church nearly always elect Popes who are at least in their 70s?
It takes a long time to get very set in your ways
he looks friendler than Benedict :P
cos: He has affirmed church teaching on homosexuality, though he teaches the importance of respecting individuals who are homosexual. He strongly opposed legislation introduced in 2010 by the Argentine Government to allow same-sex marriage. In a letter to the monasteries of Buenos Aires, he wrote: "Let's not be naive, we're not talking about a simple political battle; it is a destructive pretension against the plan of God. We are not talking about a mere bill, but rather a machination of the Father of Lies that seeks to confuse and deceive the children of God." He has also insisted that adoption by homosexuals is a form of discrimination against children.
lol bichon... too true
What about birth control, female priests?
so same old same old.
and hi again all!
hi sue
no way, I think, bichon. Back to the kitchen with the women, and let's have big families again.
yep same old same old then
hi mael, bichon, sprite!
hi double U sue, that was great news I read on FB :)
So fewer and fewer Catholics in the US and Europe will follow the teachings of the church and the church won't see that there's a problem
hi sue
im more concerned about the sex abuse scandals than the churchs postiton on gay people actually. one thing at a time.
yes, we are thrilled, sprite!
yes sue! so happy for u two

Hi sue, glad to read your good news

news?
it has indeed, chrissie!
Frank had a PET scan yesterday and it was completely clean - no sign of cancer
wow - thats fantastic!
I must get going - BBL
it's only 3 months since he started chemo, so seeing tumors at this point would have been a very bad sign

it wasn't yiou it was someone else and lots of jewish friends gave advice, and an rc, and a muslim, and I ended the o poem with you, sue, giving some wise words on late dissertations.(I'm a uu from Spfld IL)
thanks BR! new one for me!
oh, cool, RoundBarn! Late dissertations, eh? The students in my department probably have a few things to say about that...
to what does name roundbarn refer to, if i may ask?
hi all, finished the right column, weee
of course...BR beat me to it...
hi roundbarn, i'm a UU too!
uusue--you did. you said give them slack.
hi gwen :)
Ah. Well, I don't remember, but that sounds like me :-)
on the other hand we have people who have been at dissertation stage for over 20 years - probably that is a little too much slack
two seconds for crass commercialism : http://www.tomfolio.com/bookdetailssu.\nasp?b=222&m=518

TraderKate: I grew up in a round barn and I write really really good books (see the last TriQuarterly for a review)
ooh, i'm a bookdealer (used) -- what books? and i also publish a booklet of noteworthy UUs, maybe you are in it 8-)
and I meant to finish, look at roundbarnstories.com. My daughter #3 is rastopopous--from Tintin. She learned to read on Tintin, at age 4. (Is this an ad on babble chat? Shall I write out the poem to be publisjed, featuring uusue?)

BDGwen: My daughter #2 designed it and maintains it--if any of you need a website, I'll post her name. She's good but got out of the artist biz to raise kids and it's hard to get back in. Tnaks for looking at the site, BDGwen.
roundbarn, you can send it to me at uusuzanne at yahoo dot com
i can figure out how to find licketys i dont know how to use it can anyone help?
just gave you the url for it
david at the bottom left of this page you will see a list for "friends of babble" one of them is lickety's babble clues - just click on that and it will open to the list of words
how do you know you cannot use it,if you have not found it yet? lol
and i see crossy gave a link, lol. how bad am i.
david, you can add words in the add word box at the top of lickety's list
or if you scroll down you will see a box labeled "add bulk"
and i should read a bit better, lol. i am off my game today- don't feel well
you can copy your whole word list from this page and paste the whole thing there and it will populate the lickety list, then you can see what you are missing
sorry you are feeling punk, wolvie!
poor wolvie;((
ah well- rarely happens - but it does cloud the old brain, lol
is this a tough grid or is it me?
I only have 12 of the 7's

sister has sent me a thing on them.. don t know if you remember i mentioned that she has ben battling ca for 30 years
what do you think of their work? They are qute different
once again.do not know the names
Wayne Dwyer is very good Sammysmom.
anyone going to enlighten ole crossy?
i am not sure if i truly believe it all.. but i DO believe in self help and mental projection.so..................
Then you are almost there, s'mom.
when i was younger i tried experimenting with "taking the pain" from my husband who suffered from gastric ulcers and practised it for a while before i cured him of the damned things
guess not lol
check them out crossy and see what you think
if you mean my outlook and the way i attacked my cancers, well that is just the way crossy rolls.outlook on the part of the patient is KEY
and hitting the drs for info till they squeal and a good family support system
yup.. yup
if that is what this is:) never, ever,EVER SURRENDER
that is sis' approach too... also the neiden clinic in germany and a visit to lourdes.... she left no stone unturned and at the age of 78 is stll working on her projects and doing good for the world and its children
SMom, I am familiar with all of them and think a great deal of their work. I think we are both physical and mental and that our thoughts direct our physical outcome.
some chemo days when i was down in the city,i was litteraly on my hands and knees in the corner of a washroom puking my guts out and dragging myself back to the chair.got to the point where the dr,s themselves would come and get me,but never give up
my arms looked like a junkie road map,but you think on a goal and grind to it
as you may or may not know, many cancer centres here and in the us have a ships bell in the lobby that patients ring when all the treatment was over and i swore,i promised my wife and son that i would ring that god damned bell
yup molly and cross... i am a believer in that, and because of that i can still walk an use my hands to crochet.. oa and ra are a bitch, but so is ca and other things that attack us but old age ain't for wimps and i will fiight to the death ( aand beyiond for others if i can)
unfortunately if you are stage 4 your treatment is never really over, but at least you might be able to pause every now and then
cancer is never over, suze,i stand a 10% chance for the rest of my like of developing a new cancer totally unrelated to my others.it is the price you pay.you are never over it,you just have clean periods.2 year,3,5,10 we live for those laspses when cancer cannot find us and live for today and our famlies
life
we are still early in the journey, crossy
and always learning
i have a mri, bloodwork and ct scan this may.you are never finished but yes, suze, stage 4 needs extra care
as i have learned from sis... she is again in battle and i have faith in hr and her faith in herself and she will triumoph again
i have had more radiation in the past ten years due to scans that drs advise me to take the pat down when i travel and not use the airport scanner
prayers go out for your sis, sammysmom
Having faith and confidence in a person is a wonderful gift. And it bolsters their faith and confidence in themselves.
crossy, uu, and all survivors -- do you think the courage is something you had deep down going in, or did it surprise you?
I is the home.
reminds me of one of my favorite songs
You is the home Cos : D
its so beautiful out.. i had on a long sleeve shirt from Abercrombie and a light coat and i was pretty much sweating
wow- was just pounding out the s's and came back to all this info in chat- you are an amazing bunch. hugs and prayers to you guys.
Which song SMom?
you develop it,ch1212.it has always been in you,but you face the affron of cancer and say "HOW DARE YOU?" AND YOU FIGHT.YOU SAY"THIS WILL NOT TAKE ME FROM MY FAMILY,WILL NOT END MY LIFE BEFORE IT HAS BEEN FULLY LIVED sorry caps
affrotery
*Notices how Cos has to interject his fashion statement* : P
and you put your head down and push

. the highwayman by johnny cash and willie nelson..... it- we - are newver over................. it gives me a lift every time i hear it.. (google it) or you tube it
I know that one, it's very inspirational.
lol molly ;)
you do not get scared of cancer.you get angry at it.think of cancer as a slimeball taking your purse but you have a baseball bat and that is your will and determination.now go and bonk it on the head
Thanks, crossy. Pretty much my whole family passed from it (mom, dad, grandparents, brother, aunts) and I'm now the average age of them all, so I wonder how I will do. They all fought -- very hard -- and were heroes to me.
hi ch1212, what crossy said - I've been through a lot in my life (mostly not me but family) and you just keep on going.
Frank is calling on his inner wolf :-)
my grandfather died of cancer,my mum died of cancer,my da has had it three times and i have had it three times
crossy, uusue, sammy- i hope you know that statement was for you and all babblers fighting the good fight, I had no idea.
yes!!! use your innder wolf!!
inner
ty wolvie, but i am not amazing,i am just a husband and a father.i wanted to see my son graduate and see my 20 aniversary.i was not about to get that taken from me
my son graduated this march and out 20th is this october;))
can i have a clue for the ha7 please
well congrats all the same- lost my dad years ago to lung cancer- but he fought it well for a year. the advances made since then (89) are amazing- and many families are grateful. :-)
nice going crossy!!
also bellruth naoperstek.. she is a behavioral psychologist who has made tapes for self awareness and healing and she is a wonderful motivational speaker on that subject.. interesting thing... she is from my town and i have had several conversations with her shen she was just starting
ha + What Ohio and Iowa are
boy- what a pair to choose, lmao
wolvie,my first cancer,seminoma,had a 90% mortality rate in the 70,s by the time i got it 6 years ago,it had a 90% cure rate
I love Bellruth, SMom. I have several of her guided meditation CDs.
wow crossy- that is what i mean- so great!
anyhthing you can do to focus healing thoughts is a good thing
thanks molly
ok, finally done at the cancer center for the day, bbl!
tc suze
sammsmom, I have a couple of those guided imagery tapes! I bought some for my bro when he was going through radiation and chemo, and I listen to them too.
yes,as sue says "summoning your inner wolf" i could not put it better
Sue, I saw your FB post. I couldn't be happier for you & that handsome Frank of yours. Yay to both of ye!!!
And Diane Tusek -- love her guided mediations too.
Soodle, I thought you would still be passed out in a faint due to our new Jesuit Pope. : )
lol,by the end my wolf had mange, but the hair came back:)
how old is this pope,molly?
76
Lol Molls! I watched the 'performance'. Crossy, he is 76!
gads..going to have to go through it all again ina few yers.they should give it to a 30 year old
In order to "get where you need to be" to become Pope, you have to be well into your sixties.
A thirty year old WOMAN Cross!
Actually Soodle, I find him quite charismatic. I hope he will be good for the church.
soodle has the right idea. :-)
Hey y'all......I misspelled Dr. Wayne Dyer's name. I have been a fan of his forever. I have a live lecture 2 cd set, if anyone needs it, I will be glad to send it.
yup and she should be black, and jewish and have a wife
:D
bust ope that vatican city:)
He certainly has a friendly, benign countenance. I don't know what his politics are. The Soodle Jury is out!
Um yeah, a Jewish Pope.
The lecture is on the Power of Intention.]
That is a good one Peach. I have heard excerpts from it.
lol,sorry got carried away there,molly
Hello (((Gape))))
The jillyjill jury out also, a little concerned at how quickly the decision was made and very concerned Ratzinger still in the game...
Would you like me to send it to you, Molly?
((((((SOODLE)))))))
Thank you Jill. I am concerned at how quickly it happened as well.
molly, i ccould not believe the olks most networks shipped over to do commentary.
Uncharted territory, Jilly!
How are you, dear Soodle.
well, not going to give my 2 cents on the church, as i am certain it would offend some babblers. :-)
Yes, and they still botched the translation in several parts.
they had not a clue. i guess it is a slow news day, since they have covered it so heavily.
must eat now....bbl
clue for the tr7?
Jilly, I agree. My beloved studied in Roma and met Ratz before he became pontiff.
Hey Gapeach!!:-). :-) things ok ish here. And you,my dear?
i was getting ome pizza and the guys were clued to the tv, so i did get to see him
The new one is pegged as a theological conservative, so it's doubtful any big changes forthcoming.
Can't help, at my age, recalling what was said after Vatican II "It'll take 40 years to undo this."
the whispers in the loggia blogger calls him paparatzi. he is a scholar, that is the gist of it
I've been under the weather a bit., Soodle. Need your prayers please......need to find food.....bbl
well jully, there is a devotional group out of long island who claim there was a vision saying basically the same thing re the V2 changes
So no married priests then ... or at least, none officially.
Gapeach... My prayers ( for what they are worth) are with you, honey!
those olks scare the crap out of me, with their dire predictions if the changes are not undone.
We simply cannot return to pre-Vatican II. They'll find a large amount of American Catholics will leave the church.
Can I ask again for clue on tr7?
Just read Jorge was one of the more liberal cardinals voting. Thats scary considering hes a pretty strict social conservative
jilly that is the word i am stuck on.
ii frankly have come to think of us as a breakaway sect a la the rothodox church.
Jilly, I have a growing sense that the RC Church is headed for another great schism.
;) nice to have company wolvie!
tr7: three george bernard's?
lol- it stands between fireworks and me
three sh4/9s
tuss is a word!
ok, time to get ready for dance class, happy babbling to all.

Prayers and positive thoughts out for Peach.
WooT WooT Woot wolvie!!
Amen molly, feel better soon peach!
is peach ok?
About a million years ago, when I was in school, I challenged a priest with all my doubts etc... He just said to me,Mary, PTLA. Praise The Lord Anyway. Sincethen, thats what I've done, rightly or wrongly. Right now, with a very close family member unwell, I am still trying to praise the Lord. Its tricky
She said she had been feeling under the weather.
hate to play and run all, but i have to go fix supper- thanks for all your help- and may all babblers have better health and easy days. ttffn!
And Soodle, your prayers are worth a lot. Quit berating yourself.
So true, soodle. I rejoice in my faith, even as I struggle with my church.
There is nothing wrong with any religion. They all seek to know God. What is wrong is the people who "interpret" them.
Hello all. The world turns. Hope springs and when there is a possibility, show love. That's all from the great Northwest where I got my hair cut today and the furniture got a nice polish.
I hope Gapeach is OK.
I am actually starting Bible Class so I can interpret it eventually tomorrow.
ah, I like that stidgmere!
always remember, that faith is not limited to the walls of a perticular church or sect.what is the saying "whenever 2 or more are gathered in his name" , never feel constricted by a particular church.if you are unhappy, change it
Ty ch1212. One tries to land on the side of angels.
New haircuts can be life-changing. :-)
i was debating a mid life crisis mohawk
photos please, crossy! ;)
*bites tongue and exits*
if i get wt done,i will post
No crisis here, just hair in my face and I don't need the stuff in my eyes.
it
actually have to change things up.not that i am losing my hair mind you, just that i can feel the wind up by the crown of my head a tad more these days
have fun at dance class, TO. And thanks to all of you for illuminating the day, as always. I need to take care of the annoying buzzer on the dryer. bbl.
babble chat is nothing if not interesting.tc chch
Sorry...stepped away for a phone call...what did I miss?
not much, same ole same old, well except for the mohawk i want to get
Hey Jill. I had an interesting conversation/disagreement with a Non-Catholic today who did not believe me when I said that The Immaculate Conception has nothing to do with virgin birth.
LOL...or anything to do with Jesus' conception.
The church hubby and I were married in was the Immaculate Conception...
My good friend and former Catholic school compadre..."So what do you think of Pope Frank?"
ba 7/36 clue please?
Sounds like John who poured water on people. DItch the p and add a vowel at the end.
ba + Fr. word for sad minus a letter
BIblical John.
I will give the new Pope a chance, but am heading into this a bit jaded...
wow.. great clue molly.. thanks
I understand Jill. I am still at a loss about a Pope "retiring".
and i should have know it because i r4ecall making a blouse of that whtn i was a girl...
Oh rats SMom. The one person for whom the fabric clue would have worked. : )
lol
By the way, I think it's very cool that you know Bellruth.

All 7's done...will do what I can for more in the time I have...

I said it before, but I think Ratzinger and cronies are still pulling strings...
hi 7, pls
Hi7 means lots of what grows on your head.

The Pope is about as individual an office as The President. Lots of string pulling behind the scenes, I think.

Lilliann, you know this is the stuff nightmares are made of, right? : D
this grid seems to be neverending. i'm putting loads of words in and i'm still not anywhere near finishing! it's like that film, which i can't remember which they go over and over things?

Just getting old, TO. No, the last couple of months has been rough. Going to see a new doctor tomorrow. Thanks so much for asking.

This was a fun grid today.
peach, i hope this new doctor helps - you're right, getting old is the pits, but i'm not sure i want to test out the alternative
Congrats, wht!
Thanks TO.
(besides, i don't think there are any take-backs or do-overs :)
welk, do you fly out tomorrow?
-- unless you're shirley maclaine
yes - very conflicted right now, owl. miss my husband, hate to leave the kids
Thanks welki, I just keep on keeping on. Please remember me in your prayers.
I think the Hindu's are into the do-over thing.
aw. that is hard.
Yes, that might be the way, wht.

It's eeking out it's last breath Cos.
anybody watching idol this time?
Anjelica needs to find a show she'd be a good fit in. She'd have been great as Cora.
Hello to my fellow babblers! How is everybody doing today?
I'm not sure how much more I can take of McPhee and her dull, lifeless eyes.
By the way, congratulations to all the finishers! Way to go!
up6/7pls? i am tired of this grid

Hi Min.

hi min
up+salty water from eye
I read that Idol ratings are at an all time low.
ty welk
hi book
up + rip and plural
Idol is done. The premise is over.
TO, it is actually pretty big news. I was texting with a co-worker in Sao Paolo just after it was announced. We had a good chat but I never got my work questions answered.
tadone! finito
2 more stinking words and i WILL need clues.
hello, I am tired of this grid too. still 36 left
have at it, owl - we're ready
A new Pope is huge news.
And to be fair, they were having to move pretty fast at that point.
it is, wht, but there are so many misconceptions and sterotypes perpetuated.
What surprised me was I saw the announcement on TV, went to my desk and the wikipedia article for the archbishop from Venezuela already had him listed as the new pope.
and fw and i bid you adieu.
i might have been less surprised at who was chosen if i knew more about the past process and where Pope Francis stood in the last papal election
wtg TO
g'night, owl
i was hoping for a capuchin but a jesuit is just too much. rome ouldn't survive a capuchin!
wiki editors are fast to dot hat. they want their names on the page as last edited... dont get me started on wiki editors
i understand he and the former pope were the top contenders
According to unnamed sources, Francis came in 2nd in the 2005 conclave. about 40 votes behind ratzinger
as a child of italian parents living in argentia, it was probably a compromise choice.. an italian but not really.
night all
hi everyone
well, like the presidency, i respect the position - no small thing to be the big cheese
Flowers are popping up everywhere.
and safe truip, welk
could I please have a clue for ar6 and ar7
thanks, owl - 'see' you tomorrow
Well having a Pope who has taken a vow of poverty and appears to be serious about it will be an interesting cultural change for the Vatican.
And that part is being a little underplayed, Cos. That he is from a Latin American country but not really Latin American.
van gogh, matisse, rembrandt - and then their feminine counterpart
News calling him the first latino pope makes me laugh
for sure, wht
that, wht, is interesting to me. we'll see if it continues in the vatican
Bye 72 Temple Owl! I will see you tomorrow in the chat log
This will sound weird, but this man looks like a Pope to me. Ratzinger never did.
Hello LuwandaHL!How are you doing? Welcome to chat log
I thought the same Molly
Maybe because I find Ratzinger scary looking.
Ratzinger looked pure evil.
Of course they wouldn't let him see the secret report on the scandals in the Vatican until he had already taken the job.
last sp5 please?
figures wht
plural of latin spit?
sp spitting
thanks
Well, time for me to be going. Good night all.

ty welki and jmc
bye welki and safe travels .. .come back soon
bye welki and tc
Goodbye welki! I will see you tomorrow in the chog maybe
night welki, safe travels! Thanks JMC for skyping with my class. They were rather subdued tonight.
that was subdued? haha!
Hmm, I step away for a moment and when I come back, JMC is in the park with Mary Poppins and Bert flying a kite.
well girls just want to have fun
tu6/24 the first pelase
tu + double consonant + open up and say **
mary poppins is one of my favoutites along with chitty chitty bang bang. probably because i grew up on those
JMC is feeling Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!
i am more of a south pacific and showboat fan
*Bets a hundred bucks Cos copied and pasted that*
uh oh i broke the chat
hardly cosd
i do like south pacific, but i've never seen showboat. i love the king of i and the sound of music
Rogers and Hammerstein wrote the best musicals. No one seems to have been able to even come close since those two.
Yeah, subdued. Jim is usually in the corner talking to himself, Jerry is usually cussing at the computer and growling for his wife to help him. Bob and Pat are usually cracking jokes and teasing each other, and Randy is usually working on an English paper. Yeah, we get a lot done in class! lol
showboat is wonderful. . .lots of racial issues like south pacific. . .and again without rose colored glasses. . . ol'man river alone is worth the price of the ticket
well at least they all looked at the kindle for a few minutes. . .which one was the guy who was hitting on me?
Rogers and Hammerstein and Lerner and Lowe were amazing co-writers and creators of wonderful musicals. I love Showboat!
Ol'Man River is one of the best show tunes ever. But it MUST be done with the proper voice. I've heard horrible renditions of it.
that was Pat!
trixie is jerry's wife?
i was brought up watching musicals as my mam loves them and when i was younger we lived in 15 minutes on a train away from london city and my parents would regularly take my brother and i to see musicals and plays
well i was happy to do it and to get to "meet" you as well
yes, She's a nice lady, a bit domineering but that seems to work for them.
Brigadoon is my favorite Lerner and Lowe musical.
heather on the hill ...
We met once before. short visit on skype, i still have your other contact info
I didn't get to sp 5/12 a lot of time babbling today. I en 5/10ed Babbleland at 9:00 and st 5/10ed the grid. My ir 5/10 hubby is hi 4/5ing at me to get off the laptop. He's such a br 4/6! So much for my story! I really wi 4/6 we had 2 computers. Goodnight to my fellow babblers!
at 16 years i was blue and sad, 'til pa said go out and get a lad ...
i never liked brigadoon but that is probably because i saw it with robert goulet who i thought was terribly overrated.
Lilliann, my Dad took me to musicals too. It's a great childhood memory.
love Brigadoon!
ty min
i really enjoyed cats and miss saigon, but i will say about 17 years ago i went and saw oliver on stage and that was just brilliant

ru!!!
Hi Pinikula! How are you doing? Welcome to this chat log!
hi pini
Min!
I've heard a lot of people say that about Les Miserables, Shirl.
les miserables (the movie) sucked big time
lillian!
it was a suckarama
i want to see the new movie, i loved the older rendition of les Mis.
I actually thought it was good (Les Mis)
too bad i never saw the stage version then. . .
horrible.. horrible.. terrible singing
compare to the stage version with colm wilkinson, i was quite disappointed
I never saw the stage version either...
for actors not known for their singing voices, they did a pretty good job
but that's just me
hi all. would love clues for the 8s please.
i've never seen the stage version of les miserable.i would like to though
The best (and most critical) review I read of Les Miserables (the movie) began "It will be a good day when Hollywood finally gets over it's crush on Anne Hathaway..."
the film, was that nicole kidman?
thankfully her part in the movie was short lived
nicole kidman is miss le miserable
if it were that would explain why it was no good. . . talk about overrated!
i thought anne hathaway did the best job actually, hugh was a disappointment -- mainly cause i kept hearing is parts in a diff. key
and i can see his face, the scottish actor who was in star wars and i can't remember his blooming nbame
*name
scottish?
liam neison (sp?)
aye, he's scottish
no not liam neeson
sean connery?

there are several st7s
st7 = begin + not down + pl
(that's one of 'em)
the one to plural means a beginning business

it's all the others in between those that I'm missing! LOL
another one is way up in the sky where you fly a kite. . .up in the st*****phere
which is what got us talking about musicals in the first place
danke !
and i forgot there's a st7 that's pl of the st6 = mental fog
ty got it jmc
yes jmc, it was your fault :) but it bought back lovely childhood memories and adult :0
I never understood the appeal of Moulin Rouge.
that one didn't catch me, molly...could never get past the credits
(opening credits, that is)
However, I am not a Kidman fan.
So long, farewell, auf Wiedersehen, good night ...
dont know mental fog.....
stunned?????mental fog?
i watched it once on tv molly, but i don't know if i enjoyed it or not.i was just surprised that nicole and ewan were in a musical
i flit, i float....
sometimes i am in a st***

How about a drunken st6?
nicole was in moulan rouge. . .a really really terrible excuse for a musical
clue for the ra7 please
And yet, people rave about it.
i don't think you can beat the sound of music and i don't care what anyone says
i fleetly flee, i fly ... good bye ...
May I please have a clue for st7-32 the 1st? Thanks
bye shirl
a beginning business peach
bye shirl, tc
I've lost track of how many times I have seen The Sound Of Music.
no sorry . . . a law passed by congress
ditto, molly
still cant get the mental fog.
exactly, it is a musical that you can watch over and over and never get bored
At least a dozen as a kid, and then my kids got into it, so add a dozen more.
st + not down + either **
st5 sounds like the front porch steps or st***
mental fog = nickname for Stewart + the holes in your skin - e
ty got it. how did i miss it. sorry. but ty for clue.
ra7 please
i'm the same with oliver and my bairn loves it.i was bought up on the wizard of oz and it was on every christmas.that is one film i cannot watch now
ra7 = br8 - b
i do like charlie and the chocolate factory though.i think i prefer the older one
Thanks, jmc, I have beginning business as st7-36. Is there another beginning business for st7-32 the 1st? Thanks
The Wizard Of Oz and Mary Martin's Peter Pan were my two "TV events" of the year as a kid.
yes, i loved peter pan
no i gave the wrong clue peach. . . try a law passed by congress becomes a st7/32
Also Cinderella with Leslie Ann Warren.
Fiddler on the Roof!
oh and i loved bedknobs and broomsticks
i believe!
*jumps up and down to get everyones attention*
clue for the ra7 please

yentl(sp) with babrbara streisand. i wsa brought up on her as she was one of my mam's favourite actresses and singers
yentl was very good. . .
I need one more st7 (before the atmosphere, after the law)
I don't think Pini has seen Mary Martin's Peter Pan.
likewise, lilliann
although i thought the song father can you hear me was rather overblown
I think it was before my time, Molly...but I've seen snippets
sorry jmc :)
haven't gotten there yet pini
That was the whole "jumping up and down" thing. it's the scene where we have to believe in faeries to save Tink's life.
oooooh, guess I need to watch the whole thing, Molly...
i'm singing what i can remeber of that song now jmc
st7...past tense the st4 before it.
singing in the rain and american in paris are fabulous too. . . not to mention an million cole porter movies
I rather enjoy Tevia as he shakes as he walks and sings, "If I were a rich man....."
the thing is, there are so many great musical...far too many to mention, but we remember our favourites and what we grew up seeing.there are loads i haven't seen
anyway i think i am fading fast. . . a long day of returns and such. . . see you all later. . .
*leaves the chog singing good night my someone from the music man*
i did like singing in the rain though

i don't know the music man, i will have to look that one up to watch
Molly, was that for me? I do have the 2nd st32....it is the 1st st7-32, right after st6-21. Thanks
Goodnight My Someone makes me cry. It was my Dad's lullaby for me. Sniff.
lol molly, but you also sound like scooby doo :0
in order st7/36 = new business st7/32 = law related st7/32 = (still missing) st7/32 = St*****phere st7/36 = mental fogs st7/32 = trip over words
oh molly, but atleast it is a good memory.better than no memories
st4, printers direction for "let it stand" Past tense that for the st7
thx molly
Thanks much, Pini.
It's a great memory Lillliann. My Dad absolutely loved The Music Man.
hope it helped, peach
Yes, thanks much.
*running through tons-o-musicals in my head now*
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang!
chitty chitty bang bang, chitty chitty bang bang, chitty chitty bang bang, we love you
i was always frightened of the child catcher in the film.i use to go to bed and have nightmares of him and his ling nose :0
our fine four fendered friend!
*ling nose? long even
my younger dau (now 25) won't watch it just for that one character
he was scary
for the 2-3 minutes he appeared...I kept telling her she didn't have to watch that part...
He scared the crap out of a lot of kids.
...but the puppet and the music box were fun: What do you see? You people looking at me? Truly Scrumptious...
That reminds me of my kids, always closing their eyes at the "dead kid" part of Stand By Me.
...and "Hushabye Mountain" to the kids in the caves.
I always wanted a Toot Sweet.
the worst parts for me when he went singing through the street and then when they were hiding in the boxes and he put his head upside down outside the window
and Gpa...
yeah, I have to admit, the child catcher was annoying...
and the whistles with the dogs...
good one!
humming: Toot Sweet Toot Sweet
and when the grandad goes up in the air in his telephone box
I can picture him singing, but don't recall the words of his song...*thinking*
that's it now...i have so many different songs from musicals going through my head!!
ROFL (likewise)
i can see him but can't think of it either pini
So, how's the weather, lilliann?
"The traveler's life for me..."
was snowing earlier, but stopped now pini
(sorry...back to weather update...LOL)
that's it :0
it's not too bad up north where i live
I haven't had snow yet...
do you want some?
...we've been in the high 40's, low 50's (F)...but toda hit 68F
*today even
I'd love some, lillian!
pffft, thanks for that pini...you really know how how to put people off you eh! lol
Great photo, Pini.
thx, peach :) those are my grands
it was only today, lilliann....and I didn't get to enjoy it either since I was in my office all day :(
i agree with peach,it is a lovely photo.that's a shame pini but hopefully it will stay like that
Adorable.
this time last year we had summer weather but come our summer we diddn't so hopefully it is a good omen for us to actually have a good summer for a change
Camo Boy is growing up fast, eh? I remember announcing his arrival 3 yrs ago!
...and I've been told my gdau looks like me more and more every day
Watchng World Figure Skating championships on CBC and trying to stay awake after too much Mélange à Trois with dinner -- not easy
I'm good with light sweater weather, lillian...especially since I need to get out and shake off the winter insulation I've gathered around the middle
hey jilli-cuz
Jilli, you know I read that wrong and was like WHOA JILLI!!!
* apparently read it wrong, but didn't want to touch it *
hi jilli.i love the figure skating but we don't get to see it much on our tv, unless we have sky sports
i wasn't going anywhere near the 3 way :)
*giggle*
i think your grand daughter does look like you pini
That is a dinner to remember!
thx, lilliann
i really need to get my last 9 and go to bed :)
I need another 130...not going to make it...
...should go find something light for dinner...
Pini, those are your grandkids? You look way too young for that. They are so cute.
Yes, Molly, they are...
it certainly would be molly :)
...*grinning from ear to ear*
my oldest dau will be 30 in May
Good Evening All! I got all of 26 words this AM; just now returned home from my day and I don't think I'm going to finish this grid! :-)
i thought the same as molly, you do look young for being their nan, nana, grandmother?
hiya Nef
They call me "Nonna" (I'm German/Italian)
Well then, you are lucky. My older two are older than that and I still remain grandchild-less. Sniff.
hi nef
hey, Pini! Good to see you again! :-D
ditto, Nef ;)
Long day, Nef.
it's good to be back :)
well, from your icon molly, you look very young too :) i'm sure you'll be a gran someday when thay are ready
Nef, how are you?
I just brought my grandson over; his Mom is having sinus and nose surgery tomorrow AM. He'll be with us through the weekend. (I love being a Gramma!)
and my spelling has gone to pot as usual
*Koda-moment* brb
doing well, peach. How are you? (I seem to miss a lot of people these days)
Good to hear, Nef. Enjoy your grandson, he will be grown before you know it. They all do, as you know.
I got to babysit for my "adopted" grandkids this past week too. My former neighbor (the one from Iran) got to go to NYC for a long weekend; it was the first time she was away from her kids.
And (as usual) Nef, you are the good soul who made that happen. I'm sure it was a rare treat for your friend.
that's great for her and good for you too nef
Molly, I love kids. I would have had 6 of my own if it would have been possible. My dau says she's never going to have any and my son and DIL say they won't have anymore (due to her psych problems). What's a person to do?????
*back*
Those kids call me "Gramma Jenny," but 3 1/2 yr old girl started calling me just plain old Gramma on Monday. She said "I know your really Gramma Jenny; but when it's just us I'm going to call you Gramma instead" My heart melted. :-)
i would have had atleast one other if i could have done.i'm just waiting for my daughter to get older so i can have grand bairns
how sweet!!! :)
Awwww!
awww, that is so sweet nef
it just shows how much they care about you
Their grandparents are all dead; and even if they were alive, they'd be half a world away. SO they "need" a Gramma!
my next door neighbours are like adopted grandparents to my bairn as my mam and dad don't get to see her much
That
...and you "need" them, too, Nef! :)
That's it. I need to adopt some grandkids.
that is so sad but atleast they have you and you ahve them nef
(and I got to play with dolls and color and water paint and make pipe cleaner dollys and, and, and>>>!)
oh, Nef...you're just a kid at heart!! LOL
(just like the rest of us....right?)
i miss doing all of that stuff now that my daughter is 13
Yeah, Pini; but laying on the floor and getting up again isn't as easy as it used to be! :-)
I hear ya there!
It's so boring when they get to be teenagers.
i use to have more fun playing with plastercene and making all sorts of things than my daughter
gimme a box of legos or lincoln logs and I'll be a happy camper for hours!
isn't it just molly, plus their mouths run away with them
or tinker toys even!
i love lego
Ooo, Tinker Toys.
that depends, Molly. I was the car pool mom for after school activities for my kids and their friendsand up til they were old enough to drive; they thought I was cool
Oh I was too Nef. I drove a van full of kids everywhere until they all got to be driving age. My son's friends all call me Mom.
I play Duplo with my grandson all the time. I guess he told his parents the other night that the reason he likes to come here is that I play with him all day.
i wish i could drive my daughter and her friends all over
and i loved mechano, my brother always got it and we'd build it together
I'm sure people were confused at my son's wedding when he and 12 of his friends kept calling me Mom. : D
saying that, mechano has certainly changed since we were bairns
We fostered a friend of our daughters with us her junior year; a lot of daughter's friend still call me Mom.
what's mechano, lilliann?
that is so nice though molly.it means that you were special to them
It's what we call Tinker Toys Nef.
No, erector sets.
that's great that you fostered nef.more foster parents need to be found throughout the world
it is metal and you put it together using nuts and bolts nef
Oh! How has it changed, lillian? Ronnie is still a bit too young for them (he broke 2 long sticks trying to sword fight with the dog); but we have our son's set that he will usesomeday
actually, i spelt it wrong, it is meccano
Oh! Erector sets! Yes; I haven't seen any since I was young (I'd wanted to get a set for our son when he was 10 or so but couldn't find it)
BRB
<---Laughing at Nef's grandson sword fighting with the dog.
wel, the meccano sets or erector sets now are more up to date as in are battery operated when built and look more up to date as in planes ,cars etc
(sorry...distracted for a few)
my dau posted a vid on a Swiss Drum Corps...pretty impressive...I also saw a note that a cousin accepted my invite to view my tree on ancestry...hope he doesn't faint! LOL
Molly, the dog bit the stick and broke it in half and when it happened the 2nd time, he nipped Ronnie and -- there's been no more sword fighting with dogs since then!
thankfully, he didn't need "3rd time's a charm!"
Apparently the dog let someone know he is not to be messed with. : D
I'm going to have to lok for some good erector sets in a couple of years then, lilliann. Thanks for the info!
Ebay is a treasure trove for stuff like that.
can probably "make" one, too...from pieces at the hardward store :)
The dog claims Ronnie as HIS; right from the start, he'd guard that child and has been with him every minute he's here. The dog is now 14 yrs old and tiny schitz-poo and thinks he's a puppy around kids.
too cute!
yw nef,as molly says, ebay, amazon even other shops.i didn't realize how many different types of meccano were out there until last night when i was looking to buy something for my bairn's friend
that's like my Koda...he "protects" me...guarding me by sitting my lap when I'm relaxing...
to thode of you talking abt erector sets: my brother inherited one from an older cousin in the early thirties--metal, nuts, bolts, a small motor--we all played with it. He's just died at 83, I need to write the family to watch out for the erecror set. It will be somewhere, he never threw away anything. They must be all modern, now, and not as creative.
And he gives nips as necessary when Ronnie gets too rough. (He's never injured him or even left a mark; but it startles Ronnie enough that he stops whatever he's doing
what a nice keepsake, roundbarn...keep it in the family for all the following children! :)
i definitely would round. that woul;d be a great thing to keep in the family and pass it down
RoundBarn, that sounds wonderful! My older sister is the one who got the Erector set; the rest of us only got to play with it once she wasn't interested in it anymore
You could probaably find an old one on ebay. Our two sets of lincoln logs have disappeared. I should query the various families as to who has them.
but it may be that as it is that old that it is not as safe as todays kits so can't be played with but great to show and keep and may well be worth some money
my parents kept my siblings' Fisher Price toys...looked for some replacement pieces on ebay...they should never get rid of them...they're worth some bank!
as now health and safety comes in alot.so what we played with when we were younger can now be hurtful to children
hello again
do have a cow drinking cup and a stanchion in my living room, and a nose leader and trocar (for bloat) and a dorn husking tool. Maybe I should open a museum.
they always say, if you buy one of something, but 2 and keep it in it's box as it is worth more, but we can't all afford to buy 2 of something
There is BIG money in vintage toys.
sounds interesting, roundbarn (where are you from?)
wb cos
WOW! I just was on eBay checking for erector sets and there are lots of them; including some that look like my sisiters. :-) Thanks, guys!
wb cos
Told you Nef, it's a treasure trove. I have found some great stuff on Ebay. Most of it from years gone by.
hi cos!
i haven't got a clue what you are talking about round :)
Sounds like antique farming stuff Lilliann.
that's what I was thinking, molly
round, are these used for animals on farms/ranches?
i think we lost him/her
pinikula I'm from southern wisconsin we had the 2nd artificial breeding co-0p in the country, 3 months after NJ
i like to buy toys from the 80s on ebay :)
gotcha...makes a bit more sense now...so, your museum would be a tribute to old farming gear?
I know what they are and they are used on farm animals (I was giving DH his shot when Round Barn posted) . A trocar was used for bloat on cows; but we use trocars to insert chest tubes on pts. who develop pneumothoraxes too
sorry round, i'm from england so i don't quite understand what your'e talking about.i take it your from a ranch? bulls? can you tell me what those things you said about earlier are used for as i'm interested
Cos, isn't it amazing how many people have the originals, still in their boxes? I think Lilliann is right. People buy two and save one.
With the name Round Barn I wondered if you were from southern MN or that area
oh ok ty nef
Isn't the word trocar in grids sometimes?
I'm new here, I forgot to enter. Yes, farm stuff--did you know that all the advances for women--dirth control, in vitro, fri osen semen, came from cow research? (See, I'm shpwong you how interesting my book is--see roundbarnstories.com)
yep
yes i think it is molly.
actually it was in just recently i think
nice segway, RoundBarn! :)
Although I have no clue what "bloat on cows" is.
I think it's like "press on nails" ..
cows eat alfalfa and they get a lot of gas in their rumen stomachs
i didn't know that round.i will go and have a look late as it is nearly dawn here and i should go to bed
and cows have 3 stomachs
they poke a trocar into their side and let the air out
Oh gross, it lets out cow gas.
is it 3 or 4 stomachs? (I can't remember; I was a "townie" girl)
nef, my first cousin is adr in Mnpls. He played in the round barn with us all. Bloat is what cows get when they can't burp--I have a whole chapter about bloat in my book--you need to puncture them fast or they die. If you get to them soon enough you can put a hose down their throat. Cows can burp and not fart, horses can fart and not burp. Maybe you don't want me on chat.
well as long as you're not too near you'll be alright molly :)
Hi Tor : D
You're a wealth of information, RB...welcome to the Grid!!! LOL
omg, round, that is really interesting about the farting and burping. i never knew
Kind of hard not to be near when you are piercing the cow Lilliann. Nasty job.
it's four stomachs. I tell it in my story when I travel with the vet at 12. lilliann, my first child was born in England. Dual citizen.
LOL! This is better than talking about chin hairs in "women of a certain age", RoundBarn! :-)
touche', Nef!
mm, not good molly
Cows can't fart, who knew?
I think that most people would poke a hole to get rid of the gas rather than have a huge cow worth lots of $$$ die.
All those stomachs to digest and no way to alleviate the gas. Seems like a defect in the "making process".
4 stomachs round? i always thought it was 3 off tv programmes and my hubby as he worked on a farm when he was younger.one is enough, nevermind four
i definitely have to read your book round
I wouldn't want to be the one who has to ram a hose down a cow's throat either. Not fun.
wow. not sure if I want to know :)
they usually don't get gas unless they get into something very different to eat.
Yes, the lord seems to have made a mistake, doubling the stomachs. Like our useless appendix. God probably said, "oh oh."
it's not good putting your arm up the back end end either to see if thery are pregnant or not molly
tr 7/28?
So, no refried beans for cows. Got it.
(my sister is a vet up in NW Minnesota. She loves her job as much as I love mine)
Nef, you know a whole lot. They shouldn't eat new, fresh growing grass in the spring except in moderation.
sorry, no clue, maggiej
Can I come see you when I get to Mlps in June?
np
tr7...prefix for three + movie - ****shank Redemption
tr7, triple george bernard, or tr
sure, RoundBarn!
thx molly and lilliann!
tyvm
better clue molly
And Lilliann, thank you (not) for that graphic description of "cow checking".
We call that a meet-up (in Babble terms)
we've reduced chat from musicals to cow gas....will wonders never cease! ROFL
Cows must be really grumpy with all that poking and prodding and ramming.
Not to mention the bulls doing their business.
by the way as i shorten names and i might upset people doing this as i seem to upset alot lately including my visiting parents but can people call me lil or lilli as it makes me think i'm in trouble and getting told off wehen people say the whole name, even though that is not my real name :)
well, it wasn't that graphic molly, i could be more so :)
Okay L.
Sorry, I hadn't finished talking to Nef. Oh, she got it. I lived there for a while a couple years ago. Lng story. Wonderful cousins. I like how so many of the Mlps buildings are painted--all sorts of murals. Our town could take a lesson but we seem to learn little, keep getting in expensive commitees to tell us what to do and then we don't do it. We are Lincoln's home town. I'm halfway through Team of Rivals. It is riveting.
I know what you mean, lil!
LOL, lilli! Will do! :-)
i must admit i wouldn't want to be a cow or the person with their arm up to their elbow molly :) lol
L, have you forgotten what childbirth is like? : D
Don't worry, lil and Molly. Vets have very LONG gloves!
l is fine too, no need for capitals, takes too much energy to press the caps lock down :)
OMG it's gonna be Rafa and Federer tomorrow in the quarterfinals!!!!!!!!!
sooooo exciting!!!!!
hi une...and gl to them!
Actually, Round, we live in an older north suburb of St. Paul (not too far from the State Fair ground
Look, I don't abbreviate. I am only doing that for you. Don't ask me to type in lower case. It's against my thing for proper writing.
hey pini!
Une, did you design today's grid? Pups and pee are both in it. : D
LOL
hi Une! That's exciting!
egads, I didn't have the baby doggies!!!! (only 87 more to go)
i certainly haven't molly, i ended up having a consultant with his arm up inside me trying to get the placenta that was stuck inside of me out and midwives looking on and all the theatre staff and all i wanted to do after 25 hours of labour was to sleep but also hold my daughter
(only 201 left for me now, Pini. Want to race? ;-)
oh, alright then molly.i'll let you off :0
*cough* not a chance, Nef!!!!
I love how you folks across the pond call an operating room a theatre. It's like there is a little performance going on in there. : D
<-- afraid I'd lose!! LOL
well there was that morning :0
i'll race,,
it used to be that way, Molly...
LOL! Not a chance, Pini! :-D
Are you done, ru?
ruru; I bet you're done already; right?

:D
GMTA, eh, Nef? :)
Yes, a theater is where we go to see shows.
yep, lil
true, Pini.
yes, lil...no audiences anymore
Oh there are still audiences. But they are med students or interns.
i must admit, it would have been great if i could have seen loads of my favourite shows perform infront of me whilst some man's arm ws deep inside of my stomach :)
junior mints anyone? (seinfeld reference)

true, Molly, but not as many as there used to be

nobody commented on how all advances for women came thru cow research--maybe I didn't get it posted. I'll shut up abt cows and get back to taxes unless called back by popular demand some day. You haven't heard about garget and heel worm and lotsa things yet. Many of my stories are sweet---
*faints* MOllys still here?
keep going, RB....after the flip!
