seriously, my dear hubby snored himself to death, I think. Sleep apnea --> congestive heart failure.
jilli, research does show the two are linked. hence i use my CPAP every night, without fail.
It was just before that was recognised, and before the gadgets to prevent it.
He died in his sleep, granny, in February 1996.
how frustrating, and so sad. a few years earlier, and it may have been a completely different story.
what is CPAC? son has that problem, sleep apnea
and I'll bet he's never seen a doc about it
what a blessed way to go, jilli. when you here of all the horrible stories about death, to go in your sleep....it only happens to the good people....he must have been a wonderful guy.

You mean a few years later, granny? He might still be alive if he'd had a CPAP when he needed it -- if he could have tolerated it. I have a friend whose hubby has apnea but con't tolerate the CPAP, now has dementia from lack of oxygen.

Granny, I have an aged friend who is having aknee replacedment in the next few days. I don't think she's aware of the aftercare needed, and all the rhab and pain you've been through.
I wish, Liz! But ruru is, so maybe that will spill over ;-)
A friend of mine had her first partial knee replacement in january and is having the other knee done next month! it takes quite a while to recover and she was very dependent on people for the first few weeks after surgery.

Granny, I didn't want to scare her -- I hope her positive thinking will help her. I don't know her all that well, and I don't know just how old she is, but I think although she may be younger than I am, the years don't count and she seems much frailer.
jilli, there is a web site...delphi forum....it is for people who have had or about to have total knee replacement. your friend could talk to others who have been through this procedure. i found it very informative and supportive.
But she's a wee Scots lassie, and we Scots can endure.
Granny, as far as I know she doesn't even have a computer.
She's in the hospital now, having pre-surgery tests.
Funny how dependent you become on technology! When we were without power I was lost with no computer!!!
could you invite her over, and sit with her, on your computer? she might find it a comfort.
And the ospital is in Victoria -- not close to here at all.
Has she got friends and family who'll visit her?
Liz, I'm not sure, but I think she has family in Vancouver, an hour and a half ferry ride away. And a few very elderly friends here.
jilli, please don't let her go into this uninformed. she may well turn around afterwards and say, why didn't anyone tell me?
Well, I hope her family will make the effort to look after her - 90 minutes isn't that far!
Granny, it's too late! She may be undergoing the surgery tomoorw for all I know, or even had it today. I'm sure her doctors will tell her what she needs to know about rehab and such. I think she had a hip done a few years ago.

It has been a great winter. We had two brief thaws and the snow was replenished quickly after those. I was able to cross-country ski/snowshoe 3-4 days weekly.

today, i decided to uninstall pc-cillin which was factory installed but expired. it took six tired 6 calls and then everything uninstalled but the firewall driver stayed.
i am trying to remove/turn off firewalls so the POS wireless prineter can be used.
the driver remained and i had no internet access. the company rep did me the FAVOR of finally finding that driver since the producet was no longer supported. They never told ne that when they blithely otld me how to uninstall it.
