Hi all :)
hi liz
Hi Jilli - quiet here today!
phant -- adapt
I think lots went to bed
Fair enough - I'm a bit later than usual but haven't got too long now.
Does that mean it's an easy grid?
ru -- are you still here?
good morning all
Wow! Didn't realise the time. Got to go. Enjoy the rest of the evening Jilli :)
hi sprite!
hi jilli :) Am having a lot of fun on Jigidi!
bye liz!
hi and bye, Liz, have a nice evening
Hi and bye sprite. Don't know if you saw on jigidi. I loved the fire horses! The large version. Such an evil jigsaw!!!! But loved it anyway :) I'll be back later tonight. Hugs
Have you made some more puzzles, sprite? I've been so busy with Xmas I haven't had much time for them.
saw it and am glad :) Yeah, it is pretty evil, but I had fun doing it too.
quite a few, jilli, enjoying making them as much as solving them.
Fire horses? Is this one of yours, sprite?
yes jilli
Oh, I must look asap.
no hurry, they will be there whenever you are ready for them :)
liz, if you have time, please send me an email, so I have your addy? I have a couple more links for fantasy puzzles for you.
GREETINGS FRIENDS :)
hiya pug :) *hugs*
hugs back Sprite--how did it go yesterday
wonderful, pug. I had such a lovely day. Gained a lot of insights in myself as well.
hi pug
Hi Jilli----thats wonderful Sprite
Gradyn sent me a card yesterday with his school picture in it and wrote me a nice little note along with it
oh that is so sweet, pug!
then in the evening our well pump switch froze up and hubby had to call a friend out and they got it going just at dark
omg... how uncomfortable :( Glad they got it back to work themselves.
yeah me too! The temps were so cold I was afraid the lines would freeze and cause more of a problem
that would be a real risk indeed. So glad they got it back going before that happened
guess we lost jilli to jigidi, grin
that or she fell asleep on ;us
*giggles* Poor jilli, with a keyboard print in her cheek
no, I've been word-hunting, and now have nbt/nbs
even better! Good job, jilli!
Ruby's dogs are in the grid today
they were my first word, pug :)
think it was mine too--seems to just pop right out at ya
sure does. Though I have to say, that doesn't go for the rest of the grid. Not getting up any speed here.
I need 2 more to make it to the half way point
nice going, pug! Still need 5 more for that
Just done it
wtg pug!
Iam feeling really bad this morning due to what I told you in my last email
poor pug :( So very very unpleasant. I hope it goes away soon.
there should be a t down there by the ch
so do I Sprite
ok, 100 words found, too sleepy for more -- will look for your puzzle to do next tiem, sprite.
night Jilli
*time
lovely, jilli. Good job, and enjoy the puzzles later on. Sleep well *hug*
So goodnight/day all...*poof
hello everyone.last hurdle done with, well penultimate hurdle done with. just have to clean out MIL's rooms. funeral was almost a pleasure...
Nite jilli
hi ruru
hi rose! *hugs* Well done you.
Hi sprite
Hi Rose, good to have it done with I bet---I bet you are worn out though
Shouldn't you be resting gr...
hey pugs, ruru, sprite. and goodnight jilli.
am doing so, sir ruru. just sitting here chatting to some great friends.
with your leg up, I hope
ummmmm. ah, honey, sprite says with leg up....
good.
* leg up * happy now, sprite?
Does honey have them both up?
happy now :)
over his shoulders, yes
Lol
not how you, or him, would like them...
sigh, another illusion shattered...
besides the cold pack might be a tad off-putting...lolol
Lol
lolol rose
sprite, what's with the rabby bunnit?
tiger bunny hear me roar!
oh yeah, girl...you rock
* groan * this not being able to drive is for the pixies. i so need to go to the bank...and will my head full of drugs allow me to remember whenever we are out...noooo!!!
Rose after you left Crossy came on and gave you some good advice on the honey-do list-lol
aw poor rose :( So very frustrating, all of it. But time is on your side now, hun. Soon, you will be able to do all that again.
oh, and i learned yesterday, no full on physio for 6 weeks...apparently, although the skin will have healed, underneath takes that much longer...
ok rose... so take your time... easy does it.
thanx pugs, will go and check the chog for yesterday
advice like: Once your husband has promised to do something, there is no reason to nag him and remind him every 6 months?
Not sure if he put it quite like that--lol
poor DIL just dropped in. she and dear son had a tiff last night. she wanted a hand to help with the baking she had to do. he was outside, drinking with his mate. she tried the approach...honey you know how i look out for you when you may need a hand doing something? well i need a hand now.
;)
didn't work?
and did that work
son blew up...i told her men are from completely different planet to women. they need to be asked straight out. no pussy-footing around.
great advice, rose. He probably felt manipulated.
I am staying out of this one
nah, your insight would be much appreciated, ruru
good place to be, ruru. out of it totally
rose couldn't be in that place, got dragged in kicking and screaming
I would have asked him before his mate came over
don has told me on several occasions, just tell/ask me. i don't know when you need help.
even better, ruru
ummm, said mate lives with them.
Oh weird
my love and I both ask eachother straight up. Much better. No mindreading included.
Then she should have asked both of them to help
would have asked them both then
yah, think, ruru? not sure if/how i am to address that situation. i think DIL is a champ to put up with a third wheel around 24/7
She learned from you
and i just wonder...what is going to happen when a baby comes along?
wham! Good one, ruru.
awww, shucks, ruru
for the first part, mostly crying, drinking and sleeping, rose
but third wheel is sleeping in future nursery...
Hi again. Showered and ready to go out with 15 mins to spare. Not a bad effort!
And that's just the mate sprite
even better. He can do the nightly stuff.
Sniffs liz...
Rose - how are you? How did it go today - I've been thinking of you!
Hi Liz
lol ruru
yay, liz. where are you off to, hun?
Yep. You are good to go
good job, liz.! Could you please send me an email so I have your email addy? I will send you some more links to fantasy puzzles.
Nothing I particularly want to go to - more of a duty thing. But hopefully some friends will be there too.
Sure Sprite - is yours in your profile.
Ruru did you get to watch the bronco and chargers game last night
thanx, liz. went very well. i was touched when BIL came up and thanked me for taking care of his mum.
yes, it is, Liz
Yes pugs
Oh! That's so nice.
aw, that is a good thing, rose.
And yes, Ru - smell good - my fav perfume.
La Perla?
No, White Musk.
Just emailed you sprite!
lovely, Liz :)
<-- loves white musk
Surprised! Not! lol.
Never smelled a musk
Only the white ones!
My hubby went to buy it for me once and didn't because he said it smelled different in the shop to the way it does on me! Again, surprise!
my fave is green tea by elizabeth arden. ruru, what do you use? brut???
don't know that one but like Elizabeth Arden.
or old spice??....lololol
lol, indeed Liz
Do you have a sense of relief now the funeral's over, Rose?
That's pretty common
my favorite is Cristobal by Balenciaga.
liz, it's very dependent on the person. my boss uses it and it doesn't smell the same.
liz, it's like a sort of closure. although still lot's to do.
Of course! The way a perfume smells depends on our bodies - surprising how many people don't know that.
Mrs ru likes mitsuka..
mitsuka, lovely scent...but on me smells too heavy...
Of course, Rose. We're (sadly) still sorting stuff from when my dad died in 2010 - hopefully getting to the end of it now. The solicitors are really dragging stuff.
I don't wear cologne gr...
You have a wife Ruru
Apart from the physical sorting of belongings.
Smells good enough :)
what about after-shave, ruru?
Yes pugs... I do although we are now separated
No after shave either gr..
okay, so ruru smells au naturale...that could be a good thing..
Stats for the 8's please - they're not jumping out at me today.
he8, plural of he7, he + short thank-you + a long period of time
ty Rose - we've had that before but I'd forgotten it.
po8, po + att***, affix to + more so ending using 2 vowels
REALLY!!!! That's a word!!!! Thanks again, though!
lol, yes, really!!!
did sprite leave?? i didn't see her go.. :-(
hi all!! shaking my he4 here as I still have 4 BT's! it never takes me this long to get nbt!
g'day rbud
Me neither. Perhaps she's deep in the grid.
Hi rbud
hiya rbud, it isn't a very friendly grid for sure
OK - I've got to go. Will be back later. Thanks again for the clues, Rose. Hugs to all.
my namesake...which tiles are you stuck on, dear?
no, was copying some links for Liz. Email sent, Liz!
xoxox liz
It isn't too bad sprite
bye Liz, good luck *hugs*
bye Liz
ah, got one. still need the lower E, the lone A above it, and the top A last column.
*holds sprite tightly* don't you ever leave me, you hear?
You were surprised I was married pugs?
rbud, ep4, a long story
I won't, rose, I promise. Love you way too much!
fish me, how blind am I, ty!
kinda Ruru cause you always talk about going to bed with the dog---sorry for your break up though
Ah..
ad6, ad + ***al, to do with birth + vowel
pug, hate to break it to you, but ruru doesn't mean that in a sexual way...
aj6, aj + exclamation of pain + **t, picnic pest
I'm happily hitched myself, and sleep with a tomcat or two, (wink wink) but not with hubs - he only sleeps in his recliner these days.
It is fine pugs..Mrs ru and I are still good friends
once in a town near us a bank put on this contest on where this cow would make her co6 in a pen with squares painted in it and each square was numberd and the winner won 500. dollars--lol
that aj is new for me
thats good Ruru. Do you have kids too
lol pug!
No kids...
Being alone is kind of sad though
are you sorry not to have kids, ruru?
No ..not really. .. I don't think I would have been a very good parent
I dont have any and Iam not sad about it at all. Not with all I see others go through with theirs
am glad. It is hard to have a longing for children and not an opportunity to have them and raise them.
I didn't have an easy childhood..and didn't want to repeat those mistakes
good thinking, ruru. It is hard not to repeat them. We tried our very bests here and still didn't avoid them all.
of course my tomcats are fixed, lol... but anyway, thanks for the hints, g'rose, was momentarily distracted by son looking for clean clothes
Iam like Ruru, I dont think I would be a good parent--I would probally be behind bars for child abuse
pugs and ruru, it's okay not to want children. truly it is. if everyone had their 2.whatever kids, we would need to find another planet. trust me, i have had 3, my son has 5..
lol rbud. Ain't they precious... "Mum, where are my black trousers? Haven't you washed them?" "Didn't see them. Aren't they still in your room?" "Oh yeah, right."
these days things seem to be different, too, kids just don't leave home like they used to, at least not around here.
never, pug. You have such a gentle heart, you couldn't hurt your children on purpose.
hahaha, yep, that sounds about right, sprite!
here neither, rbud. Too expensive.
I had one Rose and she passed and never had another, so it may have been a sign that that wasent for me
That is true be
hey husbands aren't much better...had to remind himself to get the trousers dry-cleaned, and put out the shirt to have it pressed.
finally got son to do some of his own laundry, yahoo! it only took 22 years...
maybe not on purpose but I would want them to mind like my dogs---when I say sit, I want em to sit--lol
I am sorry pugs
he's starting to behave somewhat more humanlike since his beloved ALSO lives here now.
thanks Ru
pugs, and just how would you be taking care of your sister with children demanding your time.
so that's both kids and their significant others, living with us. *facepalm*
yeah I know, thats why I say it must of just not meant for me to have my own
((((pug))))
oy, rbud...*hands out humanitarian award * congratulations or commiserations, take your pick...lol
I have took in several of my sisters during their pre-marriges and then like Gradyn
gotta get busy on the new kitchen, it slowed to a halt lately - son and his gf are camped out in it since his summer home is too cold.
lol, rbud, the mind pictures are hilarious..
but once the new kitchen is in, the old one will be a small bedroom, much better setup.
you guys are amazing, all of you, for taking in your loved ones in need.
Is there a chance you and your wife might get back together Ruru
hubs, of course, hates it all, grumps constantly that they all just need to leave... I say just go with the flow and hope for the best, I don't let it eat at me like he does.
No pugs...
Well I was the oldest and the first to leave and living with my dad was no picnic so as my sisters one by one wanted to fly from the coop they stayed with me until they got jobs and could make it out on their own
I moved out when I was 16
thats too bad Ruru --maybe someone real special will come along for you, I hope
i moved out when i was 17. my dad thanked me years later. he had 4 sons to put through university.
do you have any sisters or brothers Ru
ruru deserves a wonderful, warm, witty wife
We will see ...I am a long way from looking for a relationship
I've put up mom more than once, my sis more than once, (both between relationships, jobs, and homes) an old friend and both her little sons... hubs has really put up with a lot, I suppose. but then there were a couple of his buddies, too, over the years.
*hugs ruru*
poor ruru, and here i am well and truly hitched to don...
One brother
cute icon, rbud
I ran away from home in my teens and hitch hiked all over(it a wonder I didnt get killed) but thats all along time ago and Ive survived
ty! pretty small to read, though.
Is your brother older or younger Ru and are you guys close
I ran away one afternoon when I was 17, myself. borrowed a car and packed it up, moved in with cousins of "fiance" at the time. never asked for another dime from parents. I keep asking our kids why they can't be more like that, hahaha!
I have an older brother. ...we are friendly. .but not too close
DH has given me an early christmas pressie. dvd of elysium. planning on watching it later.
moved out at 16, had to move back in at 18 to take care of my mother, then was kicked out when she sold her house from under us and moved to a tiny cottage with my sister.
sounds like a plan, rose
I hope you dont have to be alone for x-mas Ru, thats very sad to think about
ouch, sprite. how rude!!!
very. Not the kindest of people, my mother ;)
sounds like we've all have had a hunky-dory life--lol
I will be okay pugs...I am happy. ..it is peaceful here
(really fixing up that new small bedroom with Mom in mind, figure the son and gf will go soon, they want to. and mom's at that age, 84, getting tottery and forgetful.)
don and i were planning on just the 2 of us as usual...but with MIL's passing, i am softening, and thinking of spending chrissy day with SIL.
peaceful is a very good thing. I like peaceful.
FANG???
are you outaya mind, rose? What did SIL do to deserve that?
yeah, pugs..fang
It is for me now...A very good thing
okay, okay, so i'm a soft-touch...
I hear ya, ruru, mate. Peaceful is good. I wish you peace of mind to enjoy it in.
do you remember, rose, when you asked us, if you would be thinking of doing something with SIL, to tell you NO? Telling you NO now :)
Is your peace from above Ru(if you believe and if you dont mind me asking)
maybe i'll get lost between the cranberry sauce and the plum pudding...i can live in hope...also trying to think of don.
Does Don want this Rose
No pugs.. I am not religious
Don doesn't like her company any better than you do, I think, or he wouldn't name her Fang.
alright, i hear you, sprite...will stick to my guns...no fang until after christmas...
does it bother you Ru if we or I pray for you
*hugs rose* Good girl. You will enjoy a lovely Christmas with Don.
I feel right now Rose is going to have Fang there and not tell us
see I said the other day they would become good friends--lol
lolol
Rose what is SIL's name so we dont keep calling her fang and hurting your feelings over your new friend
what happen to everyone?
am still here
and rose got squirreled away, probably
did I say too much Sprite? I didnt mean to step on anyones toes :(
nah, silly. If that were the case, they would tell you. Sometimes real life get in between babble and the babblers, don't worry about it.
sorry, potty break taken. SIL is also known as merrilyn
yeah but Ru and Rose at the same time
well now... there, you see? Potty squirrel. And wow, beautiful name for a less than beautiful lady.
you know Dee has not been on for 3 days now
yeah, that happens often too, pug. I suspect they have something going on the side, together :D
no way is fang gonna be here. value the peace of my home too much.
good decision, rose
why dosent she want to have xmas with her own family anyway
really, pugs?? i sure hope she is okay...
me too cause thats not like her at all
Ruru, Iam sorry if I spoke out of the way to you or was being too nosy
she does, pugs, and every year she invites don and i also...but she has charity cases at her table..and whilst i applaud her for her generosity, said charity cases have no belief in the reason for the celebration. and sit at the table cussing and talking 'dirty'.
am off for a bit, have to check BSL and I might go lie down for a while, am very tired from yesterday's great program.
okay, sprite. hope you rest well, and that the BSL's are all good.
bye Sprite and hugs--hope you recover soon
*hugs* to you all and in case you aren't here when I come back, have a peaceful evening and a lovely night and a blessed day, all.
I dont blame you then Rose
Rose does your church have a get together on x-mas day
pugs, dear. have to go. dinner will be here soon. tonight is friday, and tonight we are having pizza. and yes pugs we do, also midnight christmas eve, for carols.
okay Rose, enjoy and hugs and Iam heading off too
xoxox dear
good morning
Hello. The chatters left.
I think it's just us mice, o-o
Grid is not so bad.
it's always hard for me. I like jumping in, meeting my small goals and coming back occasionally during the day, to say hello
my pups are I here!
They may be pups, but are hard to miss.
the "baby" is as big as the adult male. She is a moose but very sweet
Friday the thirteenth ... wonder if any babblers are superstitious
diet
oooo thank you dianne lmao
sorry about that
hi Dianne and worzel
It is so cold here that even in my studi, where it's usually warm, it is too cold
ruby - do you have space heaers?
*heaters
we put in a couple of radiators, but the in-floor heating went out after about a year with a short-circuit and the firelace doesn't do much, even though we enclosed it Fortunately, the bathrooms have radiators
the bedroom is less than 60F at night, so we sleep under mounds of blankets and duvets and I put an old fur coat on top
We look like homeless people sleeping under a bridge
Americans don't think of central heating
We don't have heat in our flat. So when it is cold
I move my space heaters where I need them. Wherever I move them the cat follows so he can nap in fornt of them.
my crazy dogs are running around in the frozen garden, jumping over each other and looking like huge balls of brown fluff
paar
whoops
half and see you later. How cold is it there, Dianne?
(I miss the deli, too, and there's no decent Chinese or Japanase food here)
Hi Ruby & Dianne. We have portable oil-column heaters here , they are terrific for single rooms and have thermostat controls. Both my kids use them in their apartments.
I also have one of those (no thermostat though) but it doesn't do as much as my little electric space heater.
It isn't cold enough for the heaters yet but we are supposed to get into the 40's F by next week.
I'm surprised it gets down so low there
That is about as cold as it gets but it feels colder because we are surrounded by water.
Does the colder weather affect the pollution?
I would guess that it would - there would be a lot more coal being burned on the mainland.
a ta6.21 from Hong Kong
also a ta 7
Hi, everyone. Don't want to think about the weather, especially cool weather. We are having a heat wave here in Perth, Western Aust. - up in the high 30's = 100F. I hate it!
hi Dofith..and if you could just keep it over there and not send it here it would be much appreciated
Are you getting any rain there, Lynxxx? You're in Melb, aren't you?
Its been a pretty wet Spring and dams are 85% full which is great. Just a few really hot days but it has been cooling down after a couple of days. We are supposed to be 38 next Thursday but 25 the next day. Thats bearable
BBL
Hi all - if there's anyone out there :)
i'm "out there" - Hi, Liz
good morning everyone:))
hi crossy - hope you're doing better
((ruby)) there are a wide variety of portable heater choices so you do not have to freeze in your bedroom. like someone else said here, there are these nice mini oil filled electric radiators you can get now and I think they have setting for 700 or 100 watts of heat. then there is my favorite for portable heat, ceramic micro furnaces. theses are units that are abou 8 inches square and very portable and they actually use ceramic disks to generate heat.they are very safe even if big shaggy dogs were inclined to tip them over
doing better, bojazz. teeth are stable for now and I go back on the 23rd
700 or 1100 watts*
glad
glad to hear that - some progress, better than none?
hi all. I am finally in the grid again. it has been a very long time
yup:) at that time they will remove the retaining band from around the broken molar, clean the left side of my teeth and give a final assesment
howdy, peri
it'll be good to see that in your rearview mirror...
been two years for me peri, though in that case i was in the grid no less than three different ways so am content
hi peri - see you in the puzzle...
It has been at least 6 months for me but I was not actually keeping count. I now for a time there I was in the grid almost every day
you bet it will.have to move onto the next thing..a neurosurgeon apt for my damn herniated disk in my neck:) but so it goes
:)
oh dear, crossy, it seems to never end with you
lol,i have an oncology apt today:)
good luck crossy for today
crossy laughs iin the face of danger(now that I have teeth to laugh with) hahaha
and good luck always for any appoint ment in the future in case I am not on Babble :)
not leaving us,are you peri?
lol
no, I am not going anywhere
you cannot go,you will be assimilated, resistance is futile:)
haha
good morning all
good mornigh ,teach
Good day to all.
nice little ep 5/16 and one we do not see often. means a specific period of time ,usually related to geology and archeology
howdy,scrabby
TY for the clue, Crossy. How are you? We have gotten well over 2 feet of snow since Tuesday and will get lots more today, tomorrow, and Sunday. The ski resort across the valley is still MAKING snow too.
hello scrabs and crossy
Hi wv
we have a good solid foot on the ground and it is minus 14c and we have squall warning forecast for today
we start making it this weekend
but they are already up there skiing
the hill has twice that.2-3 feet of natural stuff
The ski resort here opened on Nov 27.
just cold here - light duisting still on the ground
your resort will be much like ours in that they buy a "block" of time for heavy hydro usage for the snow guns, so once it starts, they will run them non stop to make the base as deep as they can ,then they will stop and coast through march break and into spring
Yes, they are building up the base now while the weather cooperates.
our hill even "stores" snow for each run in massive mounds, and use the groomers to put a layer on the runs on bad days with no natural snow
Yes, I see those mounds here too.
phantom: deadpan
they have it down to a fine science
help with A in right column pls
By Sunday our snowfall total should be about 40 inches.
Lower A = bodily pain-related
I meant the upper A. ty
Schools here are closed for a 3rd day in a row. Kids are elated. Parents have become crazy.
lol,we will not close them until there is 3 feet on the roads
and the lower A pls in the second column
I have no 7's or 8's
aj6 and 7, per list, but I don't have the words
snow, we can handle, freezing rain on the side roads is chaos however
School superintendents are ultra-cautious here with snowstorms, fearing criticism from parents.
aj 6/45 and aj 7/64
aj6, the fruit of an Egyptian plant. now you all should get the words from that :) I found it in my scrabble dictionary
new words for me
ty Scrabbs
Monkey found them, knowing second word ended in S.
good monkeys
ah more good news another storm has started ..schools closed...now waiting for boss to close library lol
Yes, ivesy, more of our local schools are closed today than the last 2 days.
after a bit with the snow, scrabby,we do not even try to bring it down to bare road. it is better to actually make a hardpack out of it,stop using salt ,give it a scraPE EACH MORNIGN AND A DUSTING OF SAND.MAKE A GREAT DRIVING SURFACE FOR ROADS THAT ARE 80KPH OR LESS
damn caps
help with either 8 pls
first day they closed our scrab..which is surprising.they have closed other times just becuz it was cold
Out here in the country sand is used, not salt, and we stop seeing pavement.
best way
Springville schools are closed for 3rd day in a row, ivesy.
are streets are horrible and have to walk in road .sidewalks not plowed
wow scrab.. think u have more snow than we do..
I will take photos later. I worked the last 2 days so had no opportunity.
just did a monkey on ja 5/28 and ja 6/45
Our hamlet officially got 24 inches as of yesterday and Colden, just a few miles north, got 35 inches.
Yay for our monkeys!
:))
How are your teeth, Crossy?
well guess i better face fact i have to work. so best get ready... i dont plan on seeing my car til spring.
Be careful ivesy.
teeth are stable, scrabby. i go back on the 23rd to get band removed from broken molar then he will asses how the filling took in the break and finish cleaning on the left side
crossy is loving his jeep;))) it frolics in da snow
Is your pain gone?
My nephew has a Wrangler and it is like a tank.
yes, pain is gone, but now teeth do not mesh the way they used to with metal band around that molar.eating and chewing things up is difficult but not painfull
I love my wrangler sahara.it goes anywhere
My new Subaru is coping well.
i do not even wait for plows,i just drive overtop of it all
good,good,is a good looking subaru
Show-off!
nbs, just need the lower A in second column pls
my beloved amost neets a step stool to get in it
needs
ta7 = type of pudding. I found it by myself.
ty scrabby
I once stumbled when exiting my nephew's Wrangler, then said, "Yes, I stuck the landing." as a man walked by. He was quite amused.
crossy hates ta7:(
hehe
I love it, but avoid carbs whenever possible.
mine came with extra grab handles to put on the roll bars over the doors.i may install them to make life easier for her
I don't like it either crossy, it is too lumpy
I would, Crossy.
last week,i ran it up one of the roads on the mountain that is closed during the winter months, just for a lark
Fun!
had to see what its limit is.4 feet of snow on a 30 degree inline is not it apparently:))
incline
hehe.mrs had ahold of the "OH SH**"" bar in front of the passanger seat.it was a death grip:))
You took her along? Poor, Mrs Elegant!
lol.her colour was high and her eyes were sparkling at the end of it all,no matter what she says
Whoa.
will not do it again though, since in Ontario, you void your insurance if you go on roads closed for winter or roads closed by police due to conditions
I was wondering about that.
lol,as a guy,i just had to know its limits of course:))
x-country trails are wide open as well;))
good morning friends
howdy,riverdance
Our Thanksgiving week snow had melted before last weekend so I couldn't ski, but today, tomorrow, and Sunday I will be on the trails!
Hi River
had my epidural steriod injection yesterday - not as bad as I thought it would be - now fingers crossed it will work
For sciatica? That is brutal pain.
yes - have a herniated disk at L 4-5 pressing on the nerve root - this is my only other option short of surgery
sadly, scrabby, i am now officially sidelined until i see the neurosurgeon about those three herniated disks on my neck.the MRI came back and we have heavy arthritis,a severe narrowing of where the nerves pass through and some kind of odd birth defect where there is an extra vertical column fillied with spinal fluid running the length of my spine
I have had 3 bad episodes in my life.
poor river:((
It is called a syrinx, Crossy.
it may be of no import, but the severe narrowing is as well as this damn arthritis.
tired of my arms going numb
guess i have to weigh the pros and cons of letting them go in,but is most certainly not going to go away on its own
Yikes.
((gentle hugs)) to all this morning.
poor crossy
Hi Car
if they cough at the wrong time while in there,i end up on a walker for the rest of my life. so, i need to know the true risks
car!!!
my degeneration is all in my lumbar spine - have 3 disks showing signs but only one is sever
hi car
poor river:((
Getting old is not for sissies.
My current issue is pelvic adhesions from 5 prior operations, chronic RLQ pain, and now nerve pain around hip and into thigh.
Hello everyone!
I see teenagers with sciatica. Those discs can herniate even in the young and fit.
poor scrabbs
Hi Bea
The nerve pain is worst when sleeping in certain positions.
Good morning, all.
and now it is time for crossy,s tidbit of the day!!!
Before scientists were able to genetically engineer bacteria to produce human insulin, those who were afflicted with insulin dependent diabetes often used insulin from pigs.
i sleep with pillow tween my legs to ease sciatica nerve pain
That one I knew!
yaaa for car!!
Pig insulin is used for dogs.
I knew that one.
cool:))
W is grey. Yippee.
yaaa for scwabby!
mine is as well:)
Back in a bit. Take care and have a great day all!

Bye, Crossy
Need some oats...
May I have a clue for ad6 please?
ad + consonant + PT of consume food.
Crap! Forgot my microwave doesn't work!
I would be lost without my microwave oven.
Or AD + *** king cole + vowel
TY, zooz
I am lost without a microwave.
Hope Ruby saw her dogs in the grid!
Bea, microwaves are really inexpensive these days...treat yourself to a new one!
I know they are cheap. Just didn't want to spend the money right now.
But, it looks like we will get one for Christmas.
I bought a new microwave in Aug for just $39 at Target.
I'm like you....really need the microwave. My son gave me an old one he was going to give away and the power is low so I must cook everything a lot longer but as long as it works, I'm keeping it!
I never use a microwave
Whoa, ((ruru))---you are here early today!
How do you reheat left overs?
Hello, Ruru.
On the stove or in the oven
Hi zooz...
Strange icon, ruru....what IS it?
It is a bowser bang..ON called me one yesterday
00 that is. He was in a mood last night
Big surprise....
Ya think?
How did you find this creature, though? I just searched and nothing came up.
I think he meant bowser bag. But said bang..so I Googled..bowser bang
Are o-o and crossy having a tiff?
Done with phone call.
I don't know bea
Not that I know of, Bea.
I was getting ready to tell both of them to play nice the other day.
I no longer enter chat if oo is here...too potentially unpleasant. Sorry...shouldn't speak ill of anyone.
Chats create difficulty of not knowing mood of words, e.g. sarcasm.
BRB, must get breakfast.
Would you look at that! An almost perfect bowl of oatmeal from the stovetop... Who knew!
LOL, Bea!
Lol bea
Enjoy ,Bea lol
How did it go with your daughter mimi
Oh yes..well remembered, Ru!
Very well, ruru...thanks for asking. We seem to be reconciled. So glad...I missed my baby girl.
Keep working on it, Mimi.
That is nice. The more time the more difficult
Good news, Mimi.
Did you make her that food you said you were going to make?
She emailed me yesterday that she went to get paprikash to take for lunch at work and found her boyfriend had eaten it all. I asked to what hospital we should sent flowers....you don't take my paprikash from her! Especially since she hadn't eaten it in over a year.
What is paprikash?
hahaha us men never learn lol
At dinner she just opened up and talked about what she had been doing and it was great. I missed my daughter but I also missed her as my girl friend...we were always great buddies.
Sounds like the relationship is well on the road of being mended.
It's a Hungarian dish originally, ruru, but I have modified it to something quite different. It's basically a tomato and sour cream sauce with onions, mushrooms, bay leaves and paprika served over fettucine.
Excellent. Makes for a better holiday for you
Oh
You know zooz, I simply decided that the past is the past and just to move forward. No matter how hard we may try, we cannot change the past, so best to just let it go. I hope she feels the same.
Never heard of it before
Sounds like good advice, Mimi.
Mornin' folks and brrrr from the NOrtheast
Clue for oa5 please?
Her dad (my ex) is coming over this weekend and I'm putting him to work helping me with some household stuff. He's having a difficult time with his girlfriend (don't EVEN get me started on THAT woman) and I serve as a sounding board and a sympathetic ear for him. His birthday is today, so I'm going to take him to dinner this weekend.

Bye, Mimi. Hello all new entrants.
noun a spice originating in the middle east and now grown in certain areas of Asia, used in cookery and traditionally as a digestive aid and antiemetic
It is something Egyptian.
I thought it is a seed..but i could be wrong.
hi scrabbs
I have the word, found them in More Words, but there is no definition
sounds Middle-eastern
oh lol
An antiemetic is a drug that is effective against vomiting and nausea.
Wonder what the spice smells like and what dishes contain it.
I must get ready for a snowshoeing adventure.
Bye, kids.
Enjoy, Scrabs.
How does that work for breakfast?

hello everyone :)
I just remembered why I don't like tangerines. There's more seeds than edible fruit.
and precisely why i do like clementines... no (or very few) seeds and even sweeter than tangerines and Hello Annie
Hello dorens and Judi
Eating a comice pear right now
eating a salad with too much dressing on it. yucch
goopy
and nasty in my mouth, even tho the dressing would be fine if not too much
Well, that paints a pretty picture (lol), throw it away
what kind of dressing?
that would have been smart. it is some champagne vinaigrette from trader joe's that my daughter recommended. I usually make my own, and prefer my own, but in a pinch this works. i'm at work and forgot to bring my own in
I usually make my own vinaigrette. I play with the ingredients and everyone says they like it
it really does taste better... i vary the vinegar.. sometimes balsamic, sometimes, sherry, sometimes white wine, red wine... and the amount of garlic and mustard..
yummy
i make it every week and bring some in to school, but it's sitting on my kitchen counter at home right now. been too busy to remember what i usually do by rote
has the weather affected the school openings?
made rum cake for teacher's luncheon on wednesday.. brownies for bake sale today.
we had a delayed opening last week, other than that normal school here..
rum cake sounds wonderful...so does brownies
are they still calling for more tomorrow? I'm supposed to meet my daughter and sister-in-law in the city and don't want to call it off, but...........
another case for buying olive oil and vinegars by the gallon............. my son , walter, makes salad dressing. he has been doing it for 20 years...... each family member has their favorite of his blends of ingredients . he started writing down what he used and numbering it. all our glass jars are saved for his numbered blends .. another added fun thing for family gatherings
they say snow for friday night-maybe into saturday. see what happens tomorrow. are you driving into the city?
yup/ and that sounds look a good idea sm
Where do you park? Garage or are you lucky to find something on the street?
depends on the area... W. 34th st tomorrow.... won't find anything on the street there. I've learned to print coupons before I go and the garages are much cheaper that way. there's a website
yep dorens .. and we make our own of everything that we can... no added preservatives or chemicals.. makes us feel so virtuous and tastes better too.. heh heh
dorens, what is the website?
absolutely ... i make my own vegetable broth.. my kids think i'm crazy but i save all the peelings, skins, etc and keep them in the freezer... once a week or so i put them in a pot with water, maybe more celery, onion, carrots, crushed red pepper and voila
that's smart, I might start that too and I bet it is a delicious broth too, as broths go
nyc.bestparking.com i think, and icon and central each have their own too. i usually check all three of them.. there's a search engine. you put in the neighborhood, the date, and hours in and out that you expect. they give you choices and some good prices
oh yes it is so much better. (mushrooms give it an earthiness.... i've heard that you can add a bit of soy sauce too). red onion skins make it such a nice color
thanks for the websites, wrote them down. will use them.
kay. stay warm annie... gotta go work now
you stay warm too, dorens, bye
ha

All for now. Have lovely afternoons or evenings.
Good evening!
Guys. I don't want to be cluttering up the chog, so I have just changed my profile blog. If people have the time to have a read of it & get back to me.... I would be most appreciative.
Oh Sweetheart....be thankful and enjoy! Someone is passing on God's grace to you for all you and your children have been through. If it would help, take 10% of that and donate it to a cause you wish to support.
I think it is lovely!
It renews my faith that there are still "angels" out there!
Soodle, if this person chooses to be kind to you, it is a win-win situation. That person gets to feel good and so do you. Please....ENJOY IT!!
Hi MimiCat!
((car))
One thing I have learned is that most of us deserve much more than we get, so when we get a little extra in any way, it's time to celebrate!
Soodle.. I had no idea what you were going through. I thought you were amazing before, but no even more so!
What Mimi said. You can pass on some of it if you feel really guilty but I don't think you need to.
Can someone please help me with the AJ's?
I have no idea, car!
I guess "ajar" was just too easy!
Got 'em!!!!!
You're just too clever, car!
aj + vowel + looking ill
How about the AD?
Thanks for your input guys. As I said, we are not on the bread line, so I donated the money to a charity who helps the homeless. But my faith in the goodness of random humans has been restored. I am humbled.

Good morning all :)
Hi Crossy - how was your appointment today?
went well, liz.oncology gave me the all clear for 6 more months:))))
everythinbg looks great,cancer wise
Really pleased to hear that :)
as am i:))) brought home some beverages of an adult nature to celebrate.join me in a nice glass of fresh Ontario mulled apple cider with a cinnamon stick in it? (it is minus 17c here and blowing a blizzard) lol
Sounds very yummy! I'll join you in a toast to that big C remaining far far away!
I started typing that drink out and suddenly thought that you must be in hot weather now and would rather have one of my famous long island iced teas
That also sounds good - of course it's 10.28 am here - a bit early for alcohol! Also 30 C right now, so an iced tea would be lovely! But I do like the sound of mulled cider too!
And a special toast to continuing good health can be made at any time of day!
full winter mode here.had to help a few people while out today.their cars went spinning off the road and into ditches and fields
Personally I will drink adult beverages hot or cold in any weather. GREAT news Crossy.
it can indeed!!

spanish priest...
pen, I have that for pa5-14 the 1st. Is there another spelling for it? Thanks
pa5.12 (1st) is a Latin or Greek song of praise to Apollo.
pa6.21 that follows is the plural.
the song of praise is probably the one you need...
Thanks so much, Jacula and pen.
Y/w gapeach.
Any moe clues needed?
*moRe
Pen, the Chinese bear with another vowel in the middle, has me stumped.....can you maybe reword it. Thanks
it is like the country to the north but starts with p...
gapeach - Are you talking about pa6.24? If so, it's the black and white bear with one extra vowel inside, and it rhymes with a country associated with maple leaves.
It's a thich bread sauce, btw.
Thanks, have it now..pen and Jacula.
thicK. Sighs! Must clean keyboard.
y/w gapeach.
I like clueing in tandem. It's fun seeing how we both approach it.
yes...
It's gone very quiet. Perhaps it's time to wander off.
May I please have a clue for ta6-21? Thanks
gap - ta6.21 is a venomous snake from Australia.
ta7.32 is the plural.
it's also the name of a James Clavell novel set in Japan...
It sounds like an item of male neckwear + something you'd cook on the hob in.
animals often have ***ls but humans don't + a cooking container is a ***.....
:)
The coccyx is the vestige of the human ta**.
Thanks much, Jacula and pen.

y/w gapeach. We had fun with that one, didn't we pen?
yes!
I really am going to have to go now, so I'll leave things in your capable hands, pen. If gapeach needs the aj words, don't forget to tell her it's an Indian herb (caraway/carom).

decorating

how are you doing lately?
good, marveling at how fast time goes now that I'm over 60
doesn't it though? but it seems there still isn't time for all those things I was going to do "once I retire…."
good evening, all :)
In 1977 my union was picketing a new movie theater. I fell and broke my elbow on the way to the picket line. I heard tonight that this movie theater is closing. My elbow still hurts.
