I'm thinking of making a new puzzle for jigidi - a collage of some of the animals from the wildlife sanctuary.

Yes - kangaroos, koalas, water dragons etc. The sanctuary mainly has indigenous animals - often rehabilitates sick animals.

Water dragons are like lizards - all different sizes but mainly about half a metre in length.
There were loads of them about today.

They are quite colourful themselves but mainly greenish - often have red bellies. Lots were shedding their old skins today and the new skins were quite bright.
Actually more of a yellowish green and a bit stripy!

They all over here - not near our house though. See lots of them when we drive about though. You can google Australian Water Dragon and then look at the images. There are some good pics.
We do have small lizards in our garden and geckos which are outside and in the house too! But they eat flies and mosquitos, so I don't mind them.

why we gather milk, eggs, & bread when it snows: Yes, we make fun of each other for rushing to the store at the first mention of snow or ice and buying all the milk, eggs and bread we can get our hands on. But do you know WHY we do it? Way back in the day, when NC and other states were true agriculture states, the farmers knew if a bad winter storm came in, they may not be able to get to the barns and chicken coops to milk the cows and collect the eggs. Both items are needed for making bread (remember, no wonder bread back then, LOL) So before the storm they would do all of the chores with fervor, trying to gather enough of the supplies to last them awhile- just in case, they couldn't get to the animals to tend to it, and to feed their family. See, there is a reason for our madness, you just have to look back a couple generations. sue, our Mennonite communities still hold to the old tradition of keeping 6 months of food on hand at all times(that which can be home canned or dry stored or root cellared) and rotate it accordingly
I love that. I keep about 3 months but I get it from the store. Times are bad and I want to know the kids are cared for
but rotation is key. My beloved used to clean for a lady who slipped into hoarding mode and there were all these exploded cans of soup and stew in the cellar

it is indeed! I did some when I lived in New Mexico (back in the 1970s)
i tossed my scale out two years ago, scrabby. I exercise the best i can doing activities i love. i try to eat foods that are good for me (and cut back on the bacon) i quit the smokes in 2002 and drink in moderation, so, for me, the number is what it is. i just try and be the healthiest me i can be without sweating the numbers. life is too darn short for that

I find the flu remedies that include phenahydrin make my tinnitus and vertigo worse. So bad indeed the doc thought it was Menieres. Try stopping the flu meds and make honey and lemon drinks instead.

i suffer from tinnitus and vertigo alot anyway jax,it's not the tablets bringing it on, it's do do with my head cold/flu. the tablets just don't seem to work so i have been drinking hot lemon and manuka honey and just taking paracetemol which doesn't seem to be getting rid of the headaches either, but hey, life is tough, so am i and i'll get through it.i'm use to lying down anyway :)

I have classic migraine with auras and blind spots which developed into hemiplegic migraines once I had the kids. the kids themselves didn't help.
I had vertigo for a couple of years. It was awful. It still comes back every how and then, but just for a couple of days.
though we do need to make an apt for the x-ray and ct results next week

i had migraines when i was younger jax but the normal ones and i out grew them in my early 30's but occassionally i get the odd one a year but this is a different type and i don't get any pains, i just pass out.ithey found out i had both crossy because i had electrodes put on my head and flashy lights and with one of the tests i actually fell asleep!

Has your good lady had the treatment that consists of lying down on a trolley with the head over the end. The doctor holds the head up and then lets it drop - fairly gently. It is supposed to 'cure' 95% of vertigo sufferers. Something to with the nerves in the neck and ears.
i go the other way, molly. i leave a beer or 2 for my 19 year old in the fridge. that way he leaves my 15 year old whiskey alone;)
all i can say crossy, is just tell your doctor everything that your wife suffers from, even if you don't think it'll mean anything

Sounds as if it could be arthritis of the vertebrae in her neck. It traps the nerves leaving the cervical vertebrae and causes vertigo and other problems.

Hello all. Just getting started today. My husband and I went to a large sporting goods store and bought a new pair of binoculars for bird watching. The old pair was never the same after my husband cleaned them to get moisture out.

Landscaping a steep slope, which is a total heat trap in the summer. Using driftwood to create terraces. Slow process because it's too hot to work down there at this time of year. Also struggle to find plants, even indigenous, which can tolerate the heat.
I have seen a couple of really nice, raised bed gardens L. I hope yours turns out just the way you want it.

i'm loving the driftwood, i was thinking of railway sleepers but not so easy or cheap to get here as they were
it will either be on 2 or 3 levels with ramps and then i will have raised beds on the outside hopefully(that's what i want) and then either one or two raised beds as in square shaped in the middle so i can get all the way around them
At least the driftwood here is free - there are a couple of places that we go every so often to find it. Love railway sleepers but agree they're expensive.

Ours is getting overgrown with stuff growing from dropped birdseed! Our fault for feeding the birds!
it is but i would like some shade, but to be quite truthful i like to be in the front yard int he summer as the school is out and it is quieter in the front than the back but it's on a slope so not so good
we do the same liz with the birds and i'm going to have to get rid of a hedge which the small birds love as i put lard balls in it so the big birds can't get it
Now, showing how out of touch I've become with England over 5 years! Can you get shade-cloth / sail cloth over there? It's a big thing here for providing shade in back gardens or over drives.
Our neighbours got rid of loads of trees a couple of weeks ago, including a mango tree, which overhung our garden :(

for me molly.where the trees are over hang our patio at the moment so i need it built up to our patio doors and he thinks that they'll need to be chopped down so i can have a wall built around the patio but i don't.all that will be needed is, that a few of the bottom branches that are dead anyway can be lobbed off and so more trunk will be shown but the majority of the tree will be saved and the birds can remain and i cvan still have a retaining wall for me to plant in and so i don't fall over the patio :)
