You really get the break, Fran. I'm moving to Hawaii!
not sitting any more - are you!?!?!?!
oh sorry sorry sorry
hk, i already looked that up :)
*Applause* for Janie! yahooey!
we have an extra room judy, if you don't mind my son's toys all over the place. :-)
thx Jilli. *this log is moving way faster than I am*
cool beans, Helen! did CT throw it to her or did she actually win it?
janie Deserves to win the game
it was amazing - they had feeds off for 3 hours ( i asked) so i waited a bit before going to bed & then the feeds came on - they were all in the kitchen & when janiy walked by you could seen the pov around her neck - the chat room went utterly insane!!!!!
whats pov?
i'll be majorly bummed if she gets booted
chic - that i don
thanks for asking debb!
*yes indeedy, judy!*
hk has erika put someone else up yet?
oooh - is that big brother talk?
the talk is going towards dani i think
yes ma'am
yep :)
chic- that i don't know - what we could figure out- it was a face morph contest - timed, like in past seasons - so she had to go fast on her own
yes debb! I hope it's Dani!
ohh right. i heard george took 23 minutes - she did it like under 1 minute or something
ugh put up boogie he's a pig
pov - power of veto
what's a pov?
she rocks so hard. i luv her
oh good - while y'all babble about bb I can do some real babbling *dives*
Thank you!
No I can't wait to see Will backdoor his best friend when the time comes...
feat
will and janie for the final 2 - please
la - boog is a pig - but he is so sweetalking erika, it's pathetic - she keeps saying "i don't want to end up like diane, boog, you know, bros before hos" and he never gives her a straight answer - so you know he's taking will - she's such an idiot
then they can have cute little big brother babies
thanx, erda!
ooh thanks erda! ;)
she is an idiot! and she needs to eat something
lol
misplaced my head somewhere -- but you're welcome
do they show James getting to Mex on the feed?
no
la - were you here last night? whitewitch was talking about the german bb, where they stay for an entire year - seems a girl got preggers & had the baby while in the house- now that's crazy!! for $1 million euro
a YEAR???? omg
no - no sequester on the feeds :( - thats got to be hyterical though!
i thought the preggo girl was on dutch bb and she was that way before she got in the house
maybe they are different ones.
for only a Mil? it should be more for a year..
i sooooo think we should get sequester on the feeds - i mean, why not???
seriously, marcellas, howie and james in a house? i shudder just thinking about it
details, details LA!
well, they are not showing it on tv, but erika has been throwing up the last 4-5 days
lol fran
um from the look of her skeleton face she throws up everyday
on purpose or sick?
yes la - what a threesome!
no franny - sick
marcy got so snippy with howie, and then howie called him MarJealous. ROFL
that was hysterical!
omg la - they showed her getting ready for the nom ceremony - i don't know how to say it, she was just caking that crap all over her face forever, it went on & on & on - all in the mirror cam
i love howie's "No Fear" approach to life. :)
erika Does put on a lot of makeup, i've noticed before
finished Qs!
franny - i actually laughed out loud at the, "i don't have to be nice to you & my name is not marci, it's MARCELLASSSSS" howie cracks me up - i miss him
you guys crack me up - for someone who doesn't watch the show - it's really funny listening to you all
i did too - i Hooted helen! :) ya'll do know that marcy is a babbler, yes?
hmmm i guess we do get a bit catty ;)
yes - i heard that
what are you talking about anyway?
it's really fun! i'm into most other reality tv shows
he's who turned me onto babble, he talked about it on his blog, how he got hooked
la - not anymore so than they deserve, they act despicably so much of the time - i believe that's why jani's so loved
me too deb.
does he chat?
sometimes. he's Marquee Marc on here
erda - big brother, a 'reality' show
la - i don't know, BUT i would assume he does
ahhh -- thank you jilli
well, not now obviously but maybe sometime soon :)
i was just going to watch the first show to see what it was & it really hooked me fast - you're just waiting for that trainwreck to happen
phantom - hiatus (not that naybody cares about anything but bb)
i get really mad at reality tv when someone awful wins, though, and sometimes boycott them for a while
phantom - faience
ohhh *snap* jilli
lol franny
oh no she didnt! haha
ROFL
all right i'm obviously not getting anything done here tonight in the way of finding words, so i'm off to bed. good night all!
good nite la! :)
nite, LeslieAnn!
good night mary ellen
night LA!
goodnight, leslie
um?
time for bed. *yawns* enjoyed my first flip! good nite all. cu in the grid later today.
la - you now say "good nite john-boy"
la is a yung-un :)
thanks for 'getting me' helen. ;)
night, judy - here's to tomorrow
oooohhhh that whooshing sound was the reference going right over my 80s-child head. good night!
LOL
haha nite
anyone get an 8 yet?
nope
halfway! i can see the second half is going to be tough - 11 vowels & all squinched together!
negative. i'm finding this puzzle rather difficult
hello
No 8, and only one 7. 65 left to go and they don't look quick.
hi scv
only 2 7s & nno 8 so far, but i haven't seen lickety's clues yet - guess i'll take a peek.
hi scv
that;s a big 7 - i only have 7/28
ooh there's a party goin on.
No -- I meant I only had 65 more words to find - not a 7/65. That would be big
I do have a 7/44
oh okay - that makes much more sense now :))
ok well this puzzle is kicking my arse, and "somebody" killed my BB buzz, so i bid ya'll adieu for now. ciao
good nite franny :)
hasta luego hk
hasta luego hk
nite, st franny, sorry about bb
nite franny!
well, 35 left to go and I gotta get to bed. Work comes too quickly in the a.m. Nighters all.

i'd like to buy a consonant, kthx.
gee thx, debb, preciate that
wow. yo uguys are fast. I only have 1 6 letter word...
nice job, melon.
tx, pdb
i've only got a couple of 6s as well, walnut.. take it easy and figure 'em out later ;p
I have 3 grey tiles *patting self on back*
oh i loved going through the grid that way. i really have to go pro
Three of them started out grey, jill
thanks scv... Yeah, I'm getting kinda drowsy, so I am just seeing what I can find for now, and leave the rest of rlater.
HAHA
Oh? ;D
melon, tell us what the 8 starts with, please..
th
it's the last of a bungh of THs, so think alphabetic ordr-wise, it sounds like a chemical of some sort.
the re8 has me totallllly stumped. nite, all. laila tov.
night all!
laila tov melon and walnut
night, wondrous melon!
(i wasn't trying to be mean jilli - i hope ou didn't take it that way)

thanx for the 8's and it's time for me to hit the sheets.. Nite All!
nite chic - sweet dreams
nite chic!
funny how i could find that in 2 seconds but can't find 4's. really hilarious. i
m dying laughing here.
I'm the same way, scv
I'm absolutely the opposite
good nite chic :)
my brain only recognizes the small words :)
haha, perhaps that was misleading.. i usually spend a half hour finding nothing but small words. so this is odd for me.
This grid is awful. I'm not even halfway yet
it is a toughie samantha - me too
i was just goingi to say, these words get stranger every day
hello everyone! looks like a toughie again
hello mrp
hi mrp!
hiya mrp !
fran - now see - i would love to go to antarctica :)
a friend of mine did, but it's just a stop and get back on the boat thing
i would love to go too, but not stay for a visit
that's awesome. i didn't know people did that
Any hints on the ou 6/27?
ARB, power loss
i would like to stay a few days - did you ever see the special about the female doc there - diagnosed herself with breast cancer, had to take her own biopsy - that is a brave woman !!
power ou****
Pass the fish. ty
that was amazing helen
arb, halibutt or foul mouth bass
i read or watched something about that helen, but freezing cold is not my idea of fun.
nor mine, fran
scv, they take you on a boat as close as they can and then the ones that actually want to set foot can take a smaller boat to the ice cap.
hi mrp - just saw you were here, after staring at the grid hopelessly
i think the tour starts in argentina
or whichever country is the furthest south
I am down to the three et words -- my fingers are worn out trying to find them. Any hints?
furthest south
arb, one is a gas
that's the only one i have!
I'd swear that I typed that hours ago. ty
ARB, they all sound like chemicals.
i passed on the et's after a few minutes. no patience tonight :(
et - 6&7 highly toxic, liquid organophosphate pesticide
or i just found one, nm.
thanks mrp, those were in a grid not too long ago
the et6&7 end with a charged particles arb
morning all

MG - you're a whizzzzzzz! g'nite

goodnight debb
nite debb
hk - search 'iceberg' or something - it's interesting about that photo
jili - interesting - thanks!
i've somehow just reasoned that the or 5 & 6 cannot be related based on points.. is that true? of course, i couldn't begin to tell you how i came to that conclusion.. lol..
and ive just figured that it is possible but still doesnt look that way
im pretty bad with numbers, excuse me.
well, we're going to start a movie. i wont make it for the whole thing, but i'm out of here. goodnight all. have fun on your vacations!
goodnight wassup

hi sprite
*hugs right back* Hi dear gang! So many of you still awake :)
have to go 'cook' dinner. see you all shortly
Have fun 'cooking' mrP, whatever that means ;)
love that 'cook', mrp! What are you 'making'?
I found the fish :)
If your inborn abilities are better than mine, you outG4 me, right?
hi sprite!
Hey Fran! How is the grid coming along?
very well sprite! i've been on and off and have more than half
That sounds good. So far I am having loads of fun. Also with words that are not valid, by the way.
i saw that! alas that is not an ou word
Morning all Made it to 100 so feel I can pause for 5 mins and say hello
hi fmitch!
And for some completely obscure reason I keep seeing Saturn, which is A. a phantom and B. not valid anyway. But otherwise it is going great, lol. Hey FMitch!
Hi Fran and sprite I see the greek temple is back after a short absence
Greek temple?
hi fmitch
is that na4?
yes it is Fran. Hi Jilli
Oh yes, that one. And the female serf as well.
oh good, went for that right away
what's the first letter of that sprite?
Also a na4, Fran.
31 left.
hmm, don't have that one yet *searching*
136 felt like such a good number *before* i started
There is a bird in the grid that loves to eat fish
Sounds like something you use when eating dinner, Fran.
oh, i had that already! didn't know what it meant, i thought it was an alt spelling of the gullible person
got both birds fmitch
Fran, I think you are right. I may be confusing two words - not sure about the female serf now.
I have the re8, what is the other one?
no, you're right sprite, na is gullible person, ne is serf
i guess there's another bird, i have te4 and er4 birds
th8, not that i have it!
Ah, great, thanks Fran :)
oh, i see, the other 8
Thanks and Hi MVA
Fran it's a h5
thanks fmitch!
hi fmitch and all of you. been quietly trying words, some exist some dont!!
hi mva!
hi fran
eo?
I am doing great on the 6s, but nothing bigger yet!
heat
sorry.
got that one scv!!
i already had it as well! forgot
lol scv , a sign of desperation I know well.
More th4 halfway, time for breakfast. Back in a bit :)
later sprite!
i got the eo, nm!
later sprite
hi all, before i go, here's the th8 clue.... th + charged particle + consumed!
hi bambam!
have a good breakfast, sprite - and I'll be in dreamland when you get back so g'night
thanks!
I invited breakfast over to join me at the computer and it graciously accepted.
THANKS!
thanks and hi bambam!
hello MP was away last week hope you're well!
watch for crumbs sprite!
oohh thanks, bambam!
doing great bambam!
Great clue thanks bambam
Thanks, bambam :)
have a lovely day/night you all, CHEERS!
I am being biggieblind this morning.
maybe cookies will motivate me.
night bambam!
nite bambam
scv, i'm waiting for my kids to go to sleep so i can get the cookies out
ah. therein lies the beauty of being the kid!
cookies are good!
im the only one up so no one knows ive got the cookies!
LOL!
lol scv!
ok, so im a big kid. but ive still got the cookies.
still missing 26 and i'd say half of them are T's
there's a mad h6
scv - dont forget the 8th letter of the greek alphabet when hunting for t's
oh thanks!
im digging up some strange words now
49 left and need cookies!
haha;)
they're working.. down to 19
Is there a clue for the Re8? I am just NOT seeing it. I start feeling stupid.
i could use one too
re + at6/18 or to achieve again.
thanks fmitch!
Definitely biggieblind, how can I have missed that? Didn't have the at either. Thanks FMitch :)
same here!
glad to help :)
So... only 5 x 7 to go... and some smaller ones of course. Perhaps yoghurt as breakfast is just not enough. Maybe some bonbons... cookies...?
ive tried everything.. don't laugh! the second ta4
going to get breakfast now, bbl
any combination.. ive monkeytyped? i forget what you guys call that, searched, etc and im obviously missing something
sorry scv haven't got all the t's yet
i went with the cookies for a good middle of the night snack
My 2nd ta4 is colours from the sun. But I don't know if that is THE 2nd.
my second ta4/4 is worships the sun like sprite
I
Yes, you Samantha ;)
I'm missing an "e" and an "f" and I don't know what they are
I'm in hell
OH MY
Maybe not the best place to be, but hey, look at the company ;)
what word lengths do you need? (from word stats)
They're both fours
thats been right there for hours just sitting like that?
I should have started keeping track with Lickety's list a long time ago
i think so scv
Do you have the winey F4?
i refuse to believe that!
brb
svc, of course it wasn't there all the time. It hid behind some others.
Yes, I do
i know, im saying ;p
There's one
sam, do you have the fi4 that sounds like flaming thing?
And the scottish easy? (For the E4)
And there's fireworks!
Can I go to sleep now?
yay samanthajoy!!!
WTG Samantha!
of course!
Hee hee. Clues first? Anyone need clues?
Sure you can!
so6?
good morning everybody:)
For me please :) One of the starting letters of one of the 7s?
Hi jean!
hi jean
e7
I have So6, musical piece. But no 7s.
t7
w7
sprite look for a really really small w6 and related 7
Let's see--one of the sevens starts with "et", or did you want a specific one?
You guys are the best :)
h7
Morning jean and Dianne
Hi FMitch
thanks fmitch!! my last two Ws.
No, no specific one, I didn't have a single one yet. Have one now, thanks to FMitch, the W7 :) *goes hunting for the others*
Oh thats good Fran!
et7, he7, re8, ta7, th8, tr7, we7 and that's the lot
ohh sprite.. thanks for the so6. i lost it in the chat there, didnt realize!
Hi - just printing the List before I head off home - This loooks like a 'restful' grid - !?
Thanks :) That will help.
th8 - "th" + charged particle + eaten
yw scv ;)
he 7 - junk
lynxxx, this grid is actually pretty terrible
it's okay lynxxx. just okay
Hi lynxx
re 8 - "re" + at 6 (verb meaning "to get")
Mmmm - see you in about an hour then when I get home - bye!
i'll be here lynxxx!
The ta 7 I don't even begin to know how to clue. It's a Greek word with a Greek plural to the ta 6, though
anyone have the first he6?
Sure. HE6 is a female protagonist
naturally, cant find the words i actually know on my own :) thank you so much.
And I'm strictly too tired because I confused HE6 and HE7 in my clues *headdesk*
i knew what you meant, though!
actually, didnt realize until after i put in the 7 and then added in what i needed ;p
thanks SJ!
tr7 is related to the tr5
You're welcome Fran
Great help, Samantha, thanks :)
And now I'm off to bed. Good night all
night SJ!!
Oh darn, that Tr7 is almost screaming in my face now that I finally see it. But no luck on the Ta so far.
taretheia
Omg, sorry! (Do I have to post my stupidest try???)
lol!!
*hangs head in shame*
stupidest? theyre crazy words, i wouldn't worry about THAT try.
*cowardly points at monkey: it wasn't me, it was monkey!*
of course it was sprite!
oh i was just saying! they really are nutso!
Lol!
i'm missing 4's and 5's. sad. pathetic.
That looks as good a word as some in this grid sprite!! Morning everyone.
hi jfb!
Notwithstanding the brilliant clues I am still 2 7s short. Don't talk to me about pathetic ;)
i still need the ta also, what's the other one you need?
about 15 minutes ago i was going to ask how people could possibly go to bed with only a few left, but right now i'm glad i didn't. so close to fireworks but my bed seems closer!
Just found the et7. Now I only need that Ta.
do you have the 6?
That's a good thing, scv. You are not a real addict :) Sleep well, pleasant dreams!
I have no Ta's over 5 letters.
oh, i couldn't go to bed! just glad i didn't ask!
LOL!
its hard to clue, i think. though im not really any good at it to begin with.
Does it have a def?
pick a number, 1-4 and i'll give you that definition LOL
several :)
1
brb
7 - A narrow band or ribbon for the hair that was worn in ancient Greece.
Got it!
someone should just email me the last 11 so i can sleep
Start with a very english hot drink, invert vowels. Then not out, invert. Then a greek plural ending. Don't be shy with vowels on this one.
now that's creative!
Hey, my middle name, lol.
oooo I see our favourite tapeworm has reappeared! morning all :)
morning atalante
Hey Ata! *hug* This is an interesting grid. And I am having a very emptybrained day.
sprite thanks. I couln't believe tha ta7 as I typed it in.
yay, thanks sprite and scv!!
It is a real real stupidhead word.
its a nice biological wormy word!
Oh, and now I better not forget to enter the Ta6 as well...
i have to remember that one, it's been there before!
That's another way of putting it, lol.
:) i've got to change my name before i go pro, these initials are killing me.
I have seen worse, scv!
what's your real name scv?
sylvia
that's much better, the initials make me want to pronounce them as scivvie
That's pretty.
hah
sylvia, of the woods
Does any one know how to change you name? I only used my initials because I couldn't think of anything cleverer!
Lol, in dutch it would be short for super central heating, so works for me ;)
OH MY! i hadn't realized there was another initial person here ;p didn't mean anything by it
i think you need to write dr_g
I am not sure it is possible to change a name without loosing your ranking and all.
dr_g will do it for you if you ask v nicely
Try emailing Dr_G ifyou want to change your name I think he might be able to help.
lol, be sure to be nice :)
my ranks horrible anyway, seeing as how im horrible at this game
There's more than just us scv and thanks for the advice.
If you are not pro and don't care about rankings, it is easy. Just create another account.
Morning Atalante :)
oh yes, hi atalante!!
genie
yeah i think im gonna do that.
that's right jfb! :-)
That's a valid one!
Oooooops!
et 6?
first one ;\
That's dutch for genius. Is it the same in english or does it refer to the one in the bottle?
scv, it's a gas
Et6 singular for Et7.
bottle sprite
off for now bbl have a good day everybody:)
At least it wasn't one of my more optimistic monkeyed efforts!
starts like the second et6
any help with the 1st te5/10 please
then ends like a direction
Nothing to be ashamed of indeed, JFB. Not like my desperate Ta attempt, lol.
fmitch, i have the colorful fighting fish, but that may not be the first
the ta7 is beyond my brain capacity tonight
te+ water from the sky but drop the last letter
I don't know about first or second on lists :( My first is a plural for Te4/4.
oh wait, there is another one, a marshy lowland
what dianne said
Thanks :)
i keep wanting to put in tearoom :p
lol thanks guys, it's was Dianne's I was missing
Oh yes, Rlee!
or teatray
and I want some rooibos tea in the tearoom
Rlee: Ta7 Start with a very english hot drink, invert vowels. Then not out, invert. Then a greek plural ending. Don't be shy with vowels on this one.
someone mentioned there was an eo word, how long is it?
eo6/18
thanks fmitch!
Took me a very long time to find that eo :)
thanks sprite
i know that was a clue sprite, but it's not sinking in! still looking though
got it!
of course i thought i tried that earlier!
thanks sprite and fmitch!
the last tr 5,10?
my last one is a car word, tr***mission
don't know if that's the last for sure though
there are two after that unfortunately ;p
good to know, thanks!
last tr5 I think is the lovely fish, good to eat
which i just found!
ive got them all except the one right before the fish
ill find it, just need to keep looking
sorry juest ralised I clued the t5/12
pfft.. worked out for the best. fran got it after that!
scv, do you have trick or tr***?
sure do
The t5 you are looking for is - A natural vitreous gray or white mineral, Na2CO3·NaHCO3·2H2O
ah HA! ty
thanks fmitch!!
Done and fireworks!!
yay fmitch!!!!
wtg FMitch!!
yay fm!
i still need thirty and 20 of them are 4s!!
tahts what happened to me
WOO fmitch. ill.. hopefully.. be done soon. relieved? lol.
Never mind FranMag - I'm still looking for a meagre 63.
Can't believe the normal words I kept missing today and my last word was a pl
ugh, hate when that happens!
I can believe that - I put in he6.21 and 32 he5.12 and 6.21 about an hour before I put in he4.5. Doh!!
hey wait for me FM ! (Congrats!)
hi again lynxxx!
3 left
this is torture
gooo scv!!
JFB - it's that sort of grid today Hi lynxxx :)
is it just me, or is this grid more difficult than the last few? lol it's that or i'm really mind numb today.lol
i can forget about finishing, draw fireworks in paint and pretend!
The silly thing is I'm doing this as relaxation before working a shift on a Bank Holiday in a seaside town! I must be mad!
what do you need scv?
i still haven't come up with the gas that is the first et6,21
oliv - the words are quite good at hiding today
or
FMitch, that must be what it is.
sylvia, et 6, first three letters of the next one + direction that is opp of wsw
oh i dont know, whatever the first et is. its after 5 am now im going crazy ;p
thannnnnk you
e + th4/5 + vowel
yw!
hot tea anyone?
the last two will have to find me.
LOL!
after sprite's clue for the tapeworm i felt like having some
you can't give up with two left sylvia!!!
hello hello again
Why am I always so shaky after juridical telephone conversations?
i'm not, but i have to find them myself or i won't feel good about it. not that it's any different from asking clues on your first two words..
okay good!
what kind of phone call sprite?
Hey hey MrP
hi mrp!!
DONEEE
IM FREE
wtg scv!!
yay sylvia!!!!
Woohoo scv!!!!!
hello MRP - was today gorgeous for you too? (weather that is!)
WTG sylvia!
two words i could have SWORN i tried!!!!!
a juridical phone call... hmmmm, doesn't sound tasty
Congrats SCV !
oh lynxxx.... I got rained on, and hailed on and then rained on again!!
thanks guys :) my second finished grid.
sounds horrible mrp!
the more exciting the better. party time.
I had a truck bumping me from behind twice, because he did not see me earlier. Now the lawyer seems to think it is my fault, because I was changing lanes a few moments before he hit me.
good going scv!
tell them to FO sprite
Lol mrP. Would that help?
allegedly.... ;)
he hit you twice?
Probably not sprite but you might feel better :)
that doesn't sound like it would be your fault if he hit you twice!
I have to write the full account to my laywer now, and then they will start arguing about it. Yes, he ran into me from behind, thought it was something with his trailer, hit me again and only then noticed my car in front of him.
how awful sprite!
do you drive an invisible car!!
That is what I thought! Well, I am going to write that account, better get it done with. I am shaking all over, stupid me!
poor sprite!! have a whiskey darling... :0
I am driving a quite solid Mazda. Not even a small one :)
if you rearend anyone here its automatically your fault for not keeping your eyes open
hope things work out in your favor
and for not keeping enough distance between you and the car in front
I had a garbage truck back into me down a hill once... I was stopped and couldn't go anywhere... it was my fault allegedly... :(
Same here, I thought, sylvia. But now they say that you have to let the other guys go first if you are changing lanes (duh). Traffic was standing still, it was a stopup (or what is it called, a traffic jam) and I HAD to change lanes, mine ended.
That doesn't sound too good either, mrP :(
sprite! http://www.flickr.com/photos/29022965@ N00/226995051/
Wow Ata! Great work! It's him alright :)
he's getting there slowly!
do you mind if i take a look atal?
Now shall I finish the babble first or write that darn account first...
very nice atalante!
oh gfi! its just a charrie Sprite knows and loves :)
Finish babble first as then you will be calmer and objective to write the letter
Loves is the word :) A beautiful char in a beautiful series!
still very much work in progress
Good advice, FMitch, I'll do just that. Ata, I love those flowers! So powerfully drawn.
it's lovely ata! you are so talented.
((sprite))
I agree - finish babble, have some chocolate, then write
Chocolate. Now that is a thought. If all else fails...
chocolate with icecream
ty fran! it should be good when finished hopefully *crosses fingers* will keep you updated!
Darn, I can't stand it when I am all shaky from a single phonecall. WHy can't I be a calm and self assured person in these things???
stop!!
please do ata!
she did!
It is good already, Ata!
hi everyone, this does not look like fun
i meant stop talking about chocolate and ice cream!
Oh, it is, Andree. Lots of fun. Though a few words are real strange and stupid.
hi andree!
hi andree... it has hues of 'sucks' to it
LOL Fran!
sorry fran! :)
just reading about your ding Sprite, if your lane ends he HAS to let you in
sprite, you're upset because you know you're right, but because of some dumb rules you may not win!!
Thanks Andree, I will take that along in the account. And the stupid thing is, the truck driver did leave a big gap in the file before him, so I assumed he WAS letting me in. And he did. Only when I was almost there, he started bumping into me. Twice. I am positive he was not paying attention to the jam, but doing something else.
because these things *are* upsetting! bad memories and official phone calls are offputting ... and yes, you know you're right so why should you have to go through all this!
True Fran, that's what I am feeling. And what is making me shake. Argh.
see, you're already remembering important details that will be important in your account.
hope he doesn't get away with it, keep us posted
I will, thanks for the support, guys! That really helps to feel less shaky :)
ask for his mobile phone account and see if he was texting... ask for his blood alcohol reading and see if he was drinking... ask for his log books and see if he was resting periodically... ask for it all! he will back off
jot them down your lane ended traffic was bumper to bumper he appeared to leave you room he hit you twice!!
Hey, great tips. I am starting to feel stronger :D
good thinking MrP
in my experience with idiot drivers... they freak out when you ask for past details about their driving record...
and his tachygraph data - I presume they have to have those over there?
that is good mrp!
I am not sure, but I will ask!
go for it sprite!!
when I was alot younger and a bit gullible I was sideswiped by a woman in my brand new car, she was sooo sorry gave me all her details etc then when my usband rang hers he said his wife had been hme all day, I sure learnt a lesson, call police no matter hoe small
ha 4/8?
I should learn to type!!! or spel
spell!!
odin, ha + abbrev for armed forces in the air
she was a hoe, we get it andree :)
and hello odin!
Odin: deep-sea fishing grounds off the Shetland and Orkney Islands. A real babblet.
Morning all...Fran I tried what I think tou clued to no avail and sprite my geography is weaker than my word abilities...how's that for talent?
Got it Fran and sprite TY
It's not you, Odin, it is the stupid word. Do you remember the equally stupid scots word for fog? The hairy one?
oh good odin!
Ah, you got it already, wtg :)
hairy fog?
Yup. Another babblet.
mrp...you've never seen hairy fog? LOL
I have a hairy shetland dog! but the fog?
can you remind us of the word sprite, my mind is boggling
It is the deepsea word but ends in R.
oh, that hairy fog!
amazing. i was aching to go to bed and now i just want to hang.
*slaps forehead* of course!
it must be the scintillating conversation sylvia
Fmitch: to be precise, it is a fog; esp., a fog or mist with a chill wind. [Scot.]
of course
scv...it id s terminal afflicyion known as Babblitis.
Oh, all the things I learned from babble!
is there any other type of fog in scotland ;)
and one day we may be able to use it in a non-babble conversation
got it sprite, ws just looking at the def. How many of us will remember it for next time it appears?
I am pretty sure there are about 1000 words for fog in scottish!
I will hint: hairy fog with chilly wind, and you will all go: Oh, of course, I know that word!
Did you all get the Ta5/16 word? Italian mob with other first letter?
i have it now! thanks sprite!
That's another stupid one :)
It means a cheap type of rum made in Haiti from lower grades of molasses, refuse sugar, or the like
they're all stupid. stupid, stupid words.
of course, i'm off to do crosswords with more stupid words
so it's a kind of hooch
a few stupid words in this grid
LOL! Ohoh, sylvia, will you ever see your bed this night?
hah. goodnight. thanks everyone for all the help!
probably not
night sylvia!
Guess you will! Sleep well :)
well, no, never. its been morning for hours
Bye scv, see you next time
bye!
bye scv!
byescv
I am stupid tonight! I have been monkey typing the R like an idiot and I already have them all LOL!!
LOL!
Now, there's fireworks for me. Guess my excuse for not writing that account just evaporated into sparkles.
WTG sprite!!!
Congrats sprite
yay sprite!!!
yay sprite
Congrats Sprite
- nothing holds you down!
Clinging desperately to other reasons not to do the job. Anyone who needs clues?
sprite I'd love a clue for q
Now now sprite, the sooner you start on it, the sooner it will be done, go on it won't take that long :)
go adn get it over with sprite and then come back for fun :)
yeah sprite, we can clue the Qs
sorry I sounded like my Mother there!
The Q's go in pairs today, singular and plural. One is a faulty female royal ruler. The other pair is a primitive, hand-operated mill for grinding grain. Rhymes with what we do with money.
LOL FMitch!
I can always use motherly advice, won't get it from my mother anyway, lol. Okay, off to write the thing.
dear judge... I hereby submit this account.... 'the truck driver is a bl6/27 id5/10!'
good luck!
bye sprite!
rofl mrp!!
Thanks Sprite - you've saved me. Time to save u
bye sprite - thanks for the qs
bye sprite
bye sprite!
It's a holiday here in the UK today, good babble and Im sudokuing too - nice relaxing morning!
sounds lovely fmitch! love a holiday long weekend... whatcha celebrating?
i think i'm going to stop and do my last 17 tomorrow with the list
good night all!
nite Fran
night fran!
It's the August Bank Holiday - a left over from long ago and our last public holiday till Christmas Night Fran
Mailed first draft to my husband...
Well done!
now have a coffee for 10 minutes and have a 'fresh' look at it
Also remembered that the truck had the damage somewhere in the middle of his bumper. Guess that should prove that I was already on his lane when he bumped into me, not just starting changing lanes. Right?
*its bumper.
sounds v logical
Good idea, lynxxx :) And I will wait for my love's corrections. He is better in objective accounts anyway.
bbl
he 5/12 and 6/21 anyone?
Fish eating bird with a crest on it head & pl
TY as always FMitch
yw Odin :)
O dear, this is great. Just checked the sketch the truckdriver made on the damage form. He draws my car already completely on HIS lane, not halfway changing lanes. This is GOOD!
that is great news sprite, hows he gonna argue that one!
Right! My husband just asked me to look extra good at the drawing and it paid off. It is very clear. I think this will help a lot!
Do you have an insurance company that will handle this for you Sprite?
SOOOO nice I let HIM do the drawing! Yes lynxxx, and a Legal Assistance Office that handles the rest. Thank God for that :)
Good morning everyone! What an incredibly annoying little puzzle. Entirely too many vowels!
lol Morning Eva
and you've probably finished already, right FMitch?
sounds like you can now rest easy - just really annoyng - I missed how your car was -? - and did you get any 'injury?
Hello Eva
I have Eva but I was here at the flip
That's right...I'll blame it all on the time difference(-: Not yur vastly superior vocabulary.
I know it's only 3 letters but my favorite word in this grid is FEH!!!
Hope this will make clear how it really happened and that the truckdriver was to blame entirely. The traffic was going very slow, so the damage was manageable, lynxxx. Still 900 euros on our car though, which I would very much like to get back! And I was stiff and painful all over, but no injuries. My guardian angel was doing overtime on that one!
It's definitely the time dif Eva, give's me a head start :)
thats all sounds good then Sprite - I am sure you will recover your costs - AND not get any blame!
a clue for the he's - once you find the doer of good deeds there are another 5 words that follow
sprite - it really sonds like it will work out the right way
The doer of good deeds used some bad stuff to impress the lady superwoman, scared away a nice bird and was attacked by all the siblings of that bird. He was then removed from the list of doers of good deeds.
I really hope it will work out fine. Thanks for all the support, guys :) I really appreciate it.
good post on the he's sprite
hello! that almost sounded like a stid story !
I have reading to do there to catch up on stid's story
Have to get up, feed Merp and get ready for Qi Gong class. Maybe when I come back I'll be less irritated with the grid.
If you'd replace the clues with the actual words, you would get an unreadable story, lol.
Bye Eva and Merp too
bye Eva - enjoy
Bye Eva, cuddle Merp from me :)
fireworks for me bye everyone
Congrats Ruthy ! Bye for me too - 24 for tomorrow morning
WTG ruthy! I am off, thanks again, all of you, for the support and help. I just sent the account to the lawyer. Keep your fingers crossed for me!
Bye lynxx and sprite - good luck

thanks shorty, it was amazing being a part of it. thousands of women dressed in pink ponchos!
wow jg26! was that after a cricket match or something, or a day all on its own>
seriously jg26 - there was a contigent of about 12 people from my work on the MCG ground for that cause. Good one as there are way too many women have heir lives seriously effected by it.
It was done prior to an evening football match
that is so cool
oh yeah, wrong season for cricket *facepalm*
Were you there lynxxx?
hi all :) How many today?

have to go now, thanks for your company, happy babbling
bye jg26 !
are the 1st 3 letters of the ta5/16 the same as your phantom, lynxxx?
yes they are Atal. - sounds like a craft 'fabric' that starts with ra***
oooh ty!
re8.40 is one of those words that I can't actually see how it connects! it means to get/achieve - again
its all twisty turny :)
bye for now! getting sick of monkeying for my last 6, will get in morning. have fun.
bye, lynxxx!
byeee!
morning
hi dorens
afternoon all..
Afternoon all! Changeable weather here in UK today, but fairly typical for a Bank Holiday Monday! Ata - I love the cat haiku, it really does sum everything up in a nutshell.:)
hi jac, rolin
it certainly does with my kit :)
My Lucy stays out for days, but only in August..wonder what happens in August to her?
Dorens - maybe her holiday romance Tom comes a-visiting?:)
who knows with cats!
llike same time nextyear? (except having been spayed, don't know just how romantic cats can be)
oooh ya know...babble and jet lag dont mix...
One of my cats (hunting cat) will ask to be let in via the front door - when the back door is wide open - and then proceed to go straight back out through the back door. *sigh*
Rolin - where've you been?
cats do have their ways, don't they?
ive spent the last 3 weeks in australia
Rolin - back home for a while then! Did you have a good time?
I was about to say sorry, rolin (about the jet lag/ babble not mixiing?) but three weeks in Australia don't need sympathy....sure you had a great time
hmm..lotsa phantom words...
My phantom word is 'tearoom'.
definitely more phantom words than real words here
Oh, and a mixture of 'newt' and 'eft'.
i got home yesterday morning....and yeah..had the best time...we were in queensland most of the time...in winter....getting tanned...25..26 degrees...perfect blue skies
i wanna make.. hiatus
Don't rub it in, rolin! LOL.
I suppose I'd better start entering my 'on paper' words and see how I've done so far...
that's my favorite phantom so far! keep seeing it
you wait til i get some pics downloaded to this laptop... such sun sets
Rolin you're back!!!!
Afternoon all
hii fmitch
hey mitch....yeah..im back...a little jet lagged...but..back...how ya been?
Hi FMitch.
Hi Dorens and Jacs Good thanks rolin, hows the jet lag?
its ok really...just a little spacey... better than i thought....tho how im gonna analyse sats results tomorrow i dont know...lol
Will look forward to seeing yr photos lol re sats
Could someone please help me with the ET's? I must be Babble-blind.
there are et's??
Okay, I guess it won't be rolin
1st et6/21 = e + t4/5 = vowel
lol
brb...baby's stirring
2nd et6 and & pl - A highly toxic, liquid organophosphate pesticide, C9H22O4P2S3.
lol..i looked that up in google...and theres a babble archive with it in...
that is hilarious..."say what" says FranMag....
good morning everyone
hi Annie
we have made it as a community...we have google status..lol
Cool - another short grid. How is it? What's today's theme?
hi matty
it's real slow for me,matty, but that is probably just me
vacation places we'd rather not visit, matty..
nah dorens...im finding it a slog too
you have the jetlag excuse, tho, I am just slow today period...working on my first espesso, maybe will improve
hey my partner is playing golf at the moment... not the greatest player...and hes using jetlag to make his excuses today too...
use it while you can, right?
oh yeah...lol
and the celebes ox makes its appearance again
good morning curis
hi dorens
hello
hi chj and jane
hi harp
hi annie
thi is hard today....
bit of a challenge, yes
tricky little devil, this grid
Just been scrolling through the chatlog archives for May 6th. Saw a lot of names I haven't seen here lately... Movieman, smeltzdog, bunnyvicious....
and what about lola and anj?
how many words today?
Just out of interest, what's so special about May 6?\
you're right, jacula --- I wonder if people are on vacation or if there's a curve that eventually drops on babble addiction :)
136
136
136
136 words, Scampy
i would imagine there must be a curve.... I know I won
thx...gotta shell out the money for the pro account if i want to see for myself anymore...
morning, everyone
sorry-- won't be doing this once summer vacation is over
morning angelsong
morning, angel
Mornin' Angel
I don't mean I will quit, cold turkey, no...but couldn't possibly put the time into it when I'm working that I do now....impossible
withdrawal is awful, dorens -- I had to miss 3 weeks last Fall when we went to Italy... thought about babble everyday!
(Not that it stopped me from having a fabulous time!)
Got to go for a while - got tuna fish cakes to assemble for later and also going to sit and watch 'King Kong' with Paul. The old one with Fay Wray made me cry - dunno if the modern version will. Maybe we'll have a tissue fest. and watch 'Lassie', 'Bambi' and 'It's A Wonderful Life', too, then top it off with 'Ghost'!
I know, I was in Martha's Vineyard one week and loved it, but it was hard....I did tear away one day to play! And got home after seven hours driving and ran to the commputer, bags still in the car
Jac, have 2 boxes of tissues at the ready
ick...wasn't a fan of the new king kong myself...
Jacula, better make that a dozen boxes of tissue :)
i vote for bambi
happy monday everyone!
morning, abe!
hi abe!
hey abe
hiya, abe
TTFN all. Happy Babbling.
and une, how's the ankle?
later Jac
bye, jac!
bye Jacula. Hi Annie, Dorens, Ch, Une!
wasn't supposed to put any weight on it but have strayed from instructions . . . just so frustrating . . . I want this stupid cast OFF!
when is the darn cast coming off?
any clues for the re6/21?
will know Thursday when I go see the ankle orthopod
my sympathies, une...try to follow orders
une...make warm again
une, try to be patient...
patience . . . not my strong suit! :-)
sorry....that was for angel... warm again
rolin, LOL! I was wondering . . .
oooh how long can i play this jetlag card...lol
milk it, rolin!!
Earth is my phantom. Oooh, that sounds profound.
is it significant my phantom is ..hiatus??
The agent wearing taffeta pledged an oath to take a hiatus from earth.
The weird foreigner seizes neither leisure nor science at their heights.
off for more java . . . BBL
huh?
jet lag, rolin, it's all jet lag!
morning all. too many vowels....
Hey Charm
Hi Charm
hi charm
Hi Abe, Matty
Hey, Dorens
hokay....im gonna make a cuppa...and focus on staying awake..see you all later..
later, rolin
bye, rolin
hey, everyone
Hi Klaurel
Hi, klaurel (sorry, deep in the grid)
hi laurel, charm
sorry me too... it's deep hi charm
no, i mean hi klaurel!
Hi!
Hi, Annie
hi matty
Dorens, you *must* be deep in the grid! lol
Hi klaurel
Hi Mom!
This grid is heinous ..
anyone have the first ha4/5
trying to get as much done as I can before taking small and cute to her tumbling class
gotta get away from this for a while, I am getting cross-eyed.
that's it for me now, I'm down to 50 and I need a break. (i agree, torgone- an apt phantom)
i'm feeling "voweled" out
scampy -- I haven't looked at the list yet, but the first ha 4/5 I have is another word for a bunny
nope...got the bunny, the deer, and the loathing
why do I do this? why do I do this? I'm addicted!--that's why
sorry
scampy- try anagram of loathing
sorry, Mom there's another ha4/5 before the bunny - it's one of the babblets. reverse the final letters of the loathing.
ah...thanks!
thank you Charm
has anyone clued the 8s yet? please?
Annie, I;d help with an intervention, but I am unfortunately in teh same boat
lol
Charm - I have one 8
so long as we keep this hidden from the rest of the world, it's not an addiction. is it?
sorry Charm, I am without 8's
well, spill it mom! :)
it is 8/45
no 8s here yet
I am trying to think how to explain it. I got it by fiddling on the keyboard
I haven;t made it to an 8 yet
what are the 1st two letters, Mom?
no 8's here
(it feels weird calling you "Mom" - you're barely older than me!)
re and th
Good morning addicts all, I'm coming to join you with 58 words (including all the 8's) to find
ack - it *would* be an re!
take the th 4/5 add a vowel betwen the 4th and 5th letters and then add the past tense of eat
I had to get the list or throw the puter out the window
I am terrible at this, but hope it helps
Charm - I have been "mom" for so many years that seems to fit me
got the th = thanks, Mom!
sure thing - glad I could help
And I've been 'mom' for only 4 years, so it's still strange to my ears....
WHICH th 4/5?
re8 to achieve. again
opposite of fat
Between the fourth and fifth letters?
matty- there's a th4/5 after the th5/12 meaning your. use that....
thanks Mom
you're welcome abe
I'm painting some wicker furniture, second coat, be back soon
bye annie
later Annie
bye, Annie
I am off as well. Good luck everyone
bye Mom
bye, Mom and thanks....
Why oh why can I not find the th8?
dodge, thanks for the re clue, still working on it
136 words is taking me longer than to do 200!
th + charged particle + past of eat
th + small particle (pl is in the grid today) + past of eat.
That's the one - thanks abe!
or re+ at6
And charm!
ah, thanks, dodge!
thanks Dodge
i got it from an earlier clue!
thanks, charm
Got the re now as well. Thanks!
yw matty
thanks, dodge
and you remembered it!
could someone help me with both the at words?
at5/10 = at*** of roses?
at6/18 = to achieve (thanks, dodge)
at5 perfume or essential oil
Hi, Unea
at6 to reach, as a goal
hey charm
thanks!
athios
bless you
Fireworks.
yay, Angel!
phantom word: snafu
congrats, angel!!
Congrats Angel - you are truly a babble goddess - so fast!
what a crock! i have Max and Ruby, a kids show on, and hte older sister is out selling Bunny Scout brownies and her brother, in the wagon, keeps opening the packs and eating them! and she was SO patient, not even a raised voice
TOTAL bs, Klaurel. NO WAY that would happen...
my daughter TOUCHED the box of one of my son's Scout popcorn that he was selling and he freaked
thens
I don't like Max & Ruby because Max comes along and insists on doing something that Ruby doesn't want to. By the end of the show, it turns out that what Max wanted was right all along. don't like that. AND the program is totally gender specific (girls and cooking for the girls and rockets/cowboys etc for the boys)
Yes, but who said telly and real life bore any relation to each other?
i was the bossy older sister--would have KILLED my brother if he messed with my stuff
the problem, Matty, is that little ones take what's on tv as what should be and it's very hard to teach them otherwise.
Yep, but Riley loves bunnies. Fortunately, she is two and has no clue
I'm with you, Charm but.... Max and Ruby truly is one of the very few kid's shows on that contains absolutely no violence...
I was the bratty little sister that got my borother into trouble :)
we only let him play with us if he wore a skirt, little scarf, and purse, and let us call him Betsy!
anyone have ge5/14?
Bwaaaahhhhhhaaaaa
There are a couple of others - Maggie and the Ferocious Beast, George & Martha, Postman Pat, Miffy, Maisy. If you look around, you can find some things which keep away from violence. But it is tough
ge5/14 - I dream of ......
ge*** in a magic lantern
That's good to know, Charm. Thanks.
:) thanks
i'm almost 7 years older than my sister - if she wanted to play with me and my friends she had to be the "ragamuffin baby" and go basically panhandle my parents.
Good morning, Babblers. I will find some words before heading off to work soon.
morning scrabbler - i'm taking a few minutes to refresh my brain myself.
I'm 3years older than my sister, and I always got in trouble if things went wrong, no matter what she started. And I held on to that anger for a long time into our teens. bleah
phantom - which i've entered about 52 times - tuft
charm - i'm there with you, but i'm 4 years older
This has become my daily obsession, to the detriment of household cleaning.
both my parents were youngest siblings in their families also
Gosh, and who'd have thought there would be a word for The deepsea fishing for cod, ling, and tusk, off the Shetland Isles. Learn something new every day.
My parents did it right. I am 25 years older than my sister!
wow!
lol yo! no chance for childhood conflict, eh?
Wow, Yo Baby. Was your sister a surprise?
lol, YoBaby
Nope. She hates me for other reasons - mainly because i'm more like another mother to her, you know?
at 5/10 pls? that perfume and essential oil clue is over my head I'm afraid
Woah, Baby! I'm 24 years older than my daughter!
my brother had a surprise--when daughter #1 was 16, his wife got pregnant, altho the doc had said it was impossible!
What a hilarious way to think about that, Matty!
Yes, my son is only three years younger than my sister.
at5/10 = at + *** paper for the roof (*** baby that brer fox got stuck in)....
I'm just 13 years older than my stepson :)
I'm 35 and she's 10.
ty Charm; got it now :)
My daughter is turning 3 and son turning10. Miracle baby she was
I'm 13 years younger than my husband. I'm not 10 though.
lol matty! that would just be wrong....
I'm sure he appreciates that, Matty!
We met when I was 21. He said in a fit of romance (that I haven't seen since) "I wish I'd met you 15 years ago". I replied "Pete, I was 6..."
ROFLMAO.
rofl!
That's awesome. My husband and i were introduced when i was 16 - he was home for the weekend from the army. We wouldn't give each other the time of day.
Fast forward ten years, and the same girlfriend tries to set us up again. We went out on one date and have been together ever since.
Three children and eight years of marriage later, here we are, happy as clams!
I met my husband when he was 24 and I was 17. Been married for 13 years, been togetehr 19
my partner and I are similar, yo- we used to work together and couldn't stand each other. about 5 years later a friend hooked us up on a "blind date" and 6 years later we're still glad she did!
We've been married 18 years come October. I was a child bride.
How can their be 4 Q words when I cannot even find one?
hello everyone..............got a few minutes to get some words in
We met in a pub. In Isleworth.
Life is funny like that...
Hi Kalea.
matty if you were a child bride what were yo diong in a pub?!?!?

et7 please (don't have the 6 before it either)??
well ok then. you had me worried!
okay., my last 5, GE 5/14?
I'm old enough that on my 18th birthday my dad sent me out to buy the champagne for my party.
LOL! I reallly was a child though. I was in university, but not studying, and was very young.
ge5/14 = I dream of ***** with the light brown hair
ge5 ge*** in a magic lantern
e murderer or something
laurel, he comes out of a bottle, think alladin
BRB - laundry. And must awaken teenage daughter. It's after 11.00 here!
hmmm, thanks, Charm! I thought of that but for some reason, kept trying to spell it wrongh!
i met my husband in a pub too matty!
klaurel - you weren't spelling wrong, the monkeys were just hitting the wrong keys....
Y'all take care. I'm off to do laundry and balance the checkbook and what not (yuck). Happy Babbling!
thanks Charm, jsut catching up on recent clues
bye, yo!
A lot of things come out of a bottle after a night drinking from one.

I've finished the Q's, TY
Think of someone from the prestigeous English private (public, as the English say) school, and change the second consonent to a vowel?
Cana anyone help with the Os that aren't vegetables? I always struggle with vowels.

Good morning, Stids, how are you getting around?
good morning Stid and nrkii

morning all
much better today, Scrabbler, will use the crutches when we got help a teacher at the boys' school this morning, but no pain at all when I woke up! *dancing jig*
hi rae
:-) yes nrk, it was too pretty to leave in a box...
hi raelite!
stid, that's good to hear
hello :) :)
about you feeling better
so is the grid easier than yesterday?
hi stid, nrkii, raelite, chj
I 'm not having much luck :S
seems about the same
mornin', abe!
hi stid, i'm glad to hear you're feeling a little better today
hi abe :)
hey rae. feeling overwhelmed by vowels? i know i am!
I still dont' feel well. When I lose my appetite then I know I'm sick! But I start at 1:00 today.
Stid, happy to learn you are feeling better
Scrabbler, hope you feel better very soon
Sorry to hear that Scrabbler
It is an occupational hazard--being a pediatrician.
whenever I get like that scrabbler, I eat a couple of almonds...always makes me feel better :)
well, I hope you have been resting and all -- does fresh ginger tea help you? I often use it to settle my stomach when I have a digestive upset, not sure how effective it would be with enteroviruses...
I've got almonds--I'll have some before I shower
Good idea, I'll go make tea!
I don't know what it is about them...maybe the fat and protein combo...but it always works
advice I always heard for enteroviruses was nothing but white rice and water ... ugh
Tea is being nuked now
I am just glad I am neither a teacher nor a medical professional. I catch everything the kids bring home, and quite a few that never bother anyone else in the family -- and I am a "stay at home" person!
A germ-magnet, huh?
Hope it helps, Scrabbler.
Seems so. My mother (who has been teaching for thirty years or so) doesn't understand how I am always sick... :-)
in the winter i have a permanent cold thanks to the little ones!!
I used to be so paranoid in the pharmacy...I always washed my hands after waiting on customers...the last thing you need when you have an autoimmune disease is a cold!
stid, you have RA?
Schools are germ-factories
Oh raelite -- wow.
my dad has RA and he gets sick a lot, and stays sick longer than everyone in the family... I have psoriasis which looks suspiciously like psoriatic arthritis, and I get sick frequently too!
They sure are. I have anti-germ juice in the car... actually I need to pick up some more, I think we're almost out!
wheee fireworks, now I can go to bed 8-)
yay misu!!
Three left....TR5/10 x 2 and TE5/10. I have the birds (te...) the choo choo and the candy...

Charm, that's a charm - thanks! You're a star, y'all. I have ***** FIREWORKS *****
I don't think I've ever really had a bad vacation. Just the fact of getting away from 'real' life makes any trip good. (but then, I've not yet traveled with whiny kids....)

every spot I think of, I remember something there is to love about it
Niagara in winter is no fun, but it is absolutely beautiful with parts of the falls frozen but the water still flowing underneath and around.
the falls look so beautiful when they shine the lights on them at night
what about the inside of a volcano?
okay, I got one, even though it's arguable

rumple,re8 is the usual repeat of a verb meaning to get hold of--you may a***** great heights if you work hard
thanks guys, now only need the th8,45
take your th4/5 (last one) and add a consonant, then past tense of eat
the th8 builds from the th4 above it--simply add latin for born
rumple- th + charged particle + I *** three tacos for lunch

{{{ Miss Hetty }}} I'm done all -- Chiley, take care in Ernesto. Any clues needed before I go?
I know a whole lot of old ladies, rae, but not an Ishbel, sorry--she may have moved on to greener pastures; the only sad part about my hospice work is that they have a way of doing that
yes, it's true. That's ok...she might be on Galiano! :)
it's been awhile
Miss Hetty, I too have been (and continue on a briefer basis) involved in hospice -- a beautiful ministry. God bless you!

oooh, cleared the room with that one. sorry kids!
what happened to his dog.
HI all, clues for the 8's please
nutty's brother found this dog that she loved, but he couldn't take care of the dog - too disruptive on his farm, i think - so he called the dog catcher. my mom lives near her so i put her on the case - and her super sleuth skills came through.
et6/21 - starts the same as the gas, ends with a teeny little particle
It was inge2's gas that cleared the room ..
lol!

I love to get the fireworks, they are shooting away at this moment.

Congrats, ExWren.

Hooray for ExWren

That was a dumb word even by my standards ...
fe's are all 4s anyway
ExWren, when I think of Basingstoke, I remember Mad Margaret from Ruddigore...
hi all, can i get clues for the ao 5/10, 6/18?
Meaningless protest over the absence of fata from the dictionary
lmj - a large artery coming away from the he5
I don't have the he5/12 to clue the ao's

thanks fiz, does the 6/18 come off the 5/10
Better get a transplant, then.
yes, lmj - latin plural

i got it tor - nearly fell off my chair i was laughing so hard.
torgone, you are funny, but I don't always get your jokes
so 6,18...pleaseeeee
What an epitaph for you, torgone! :o
Douglas, I just had to go away and look up Mad margaret from Ruddigore, never heard of that before, but I think the word was Basingstroke!
My so6 mow the lawn ..
so6/18 - piece of music with solo instrument
If he won't, maybe your daughter will!
lol tor!
Mind you, I do know one or two Margaret's that it might apply to
Not a chance .. It's a fight just getting her to go outside ..
have i ever told you you're my he4/5, you're everything I wish I could be! I could fly higher than an eagle, you are the wind beneath my wings...
Shall I tell you one of poor Mad Margaret's odd thoughts? Well, then, when I am lying awake at night, and the pale moonlight streams through the latticed casement, strange fancies crowd upon my poor mad brain, and I sometimes think that if we could hit upon some word for you to use whenever I am about to relapse ? some word that teems with hidden meaning ? like "Basingstoke" ? it might recall me to my saner self. For, after all, I am only Mad Margaret! Daft Meg! Poor Meg! He! he! he!
i dont' get it tor
sorry - struck with the urge to sing and the coworkers look at me funny.
Is the internet great or what?
I love Ruddigore, Douglas! I played in the pit orchestra for a production in college.
nm...got it
thanks
You will when you get the word, bean .. So, as a clue, my offering was pretty useless ..
From time to time, gapers was a word in the grid, and I would use the duet "I Once Was a Very Abandoned Person" to clue it...
I'm weary wi' runnin'...
And I'm sure everyone got it right away.
One would hope so, but the non-Savoyard constituency of the Babbleverse just looked at me funny...
Amazing.
shame, really. people are so underaquinted with the finer things in life.
Need a clue for that ou word pls
phand - when there's no power - a power ou6
That's 'cause they're busy being aquainted with reality TV instead.
But I wish one day I could find the word "underaquainted" in the grid!
thnx Fiz, I hate when I miss the obious ones!
obvious!
i'm not sure it's really a word, vic, but it fit my purposes nicely. yw phand!
Helllo gang, I'm back
I would be happy if I could find nice simple words, like "soup"
hi lady
hi lady
sometimes those 4 letter words are the hardest
can i get a clue for eo6/18?
It's a splendid word, Fiz.
Ok, gang - I need some advice, counsel ... whatever you want to call it
lmj - a long period of time +boys name
long long time + sir mckellan
fire away lady
eo6/18 - start with long periods of time, end with man's name as in Mr Fleming.
(oh and ty, vic)
Mmmmm . . . soup . . .
thanks fiz,abe & vic
its a bit of a long story .. the gist of it is this - I've been morbidly obese for almost 15 years and very little has worked. My dr wants me to consider surgery
specifically, something called lap band surgery, not the gastric bypass
The latest series between the Yankees and Red Sox was a ****
Mind you, she asked me to "consider", ie, think about it, investigate, get some counselling, etc
what's that, lady? (and could they have a worse term for being severly overweight? do they have to call it "morbidly obese"? sounds so upsetting)
lady, someone on babble has had that surgery, i can't remember who
lady, if you trust your doc, i'd listen to him/her
After an ****** length of time, the nurse said the doctor would see me now...
its called morbid, because it will eventually kill you
well sure, and i suppose it has shock value for the folks who think, "it's not that bad", but most people i know who are that heavy have a pretty clear idea that it causes health problems.
However, I just found out I have low thyroid, and we're still trying to get my dosage worked out...
lady, how do u feel about having it done.
How do you feel about that op lady?
I also just started exercising regularly for the first time in about 20 years, so I think I want to wait a year, see how the exercise and medication work first
lady get that worked out before you do anything. and it may help - at least so you can keep your energy up and your weight off.
I'm really leery, as the surgery will require some lifechanging decisions and I"m not a big fan of surgery (I'm an RN, btw)
the thyroid medication will give you more energy to excercise, too, ladyN; so I would wait
lady- if you don't feel comfortable getting surgery, don't do it. go with your instincts b/c you know your body better than anyone
The other thing I have to consider is I have severe arthritis in all my weight bearing joints, which is getting worse
lady- no offense, but can you wait a year? how is your health?
My thoughts so far are: wait and see what the meds and exercise do, one more year at this point can't hurt too much more
My insurance won't cover the surgery as its still experimental - so I have that to consider as well
lady, everyone i know who's had some sort of weight loss surgery has suggested (either because they did it or because they didn't!) that people work hard on their diet and learning about how/why they eat beforehand, and work on getting into a healthier routine. it's tough to suddenly change your habits, and you don't feel so good after the surgery for a while.
i've also heard tell that water exercise is an amazing thing - that way you don't hurt your joints further.
I just don't want to do something permanent to my body thats going to make my enjoyment of life any less than it already is
Are you in the USA Lady?
Fiz, I"m looking into that - my gym has a pool
if you do decide to have surgery- i heard really good things about the band verses gastric, less complications, not as invasive, quicker healing, etc. but, i wish you luck in whatever you choose to do.
Yes, I'm in the US, FM
I'd much rather lose the weight conventionally - what I need to change are my habits, nutrionally and activity wise
walking is another good exercise if u can do it as well as swimming.
The lap band has good results and you can "reverse" it later - my problem with that is, if I have the surgery, lose the weight, then reverse the surgery, whats to say I won't gain it all back again?
I've heard good and bad about the op but there can be so many other things that could be done first with the right mind set and back up and support
best of luck on an exercise program lady. i lost 50 pounds a few years ago by making some lifestyle changes. good on you for wanting to be conventional
lady what does your dr. say about waiting a year?
Oggy, I love walking on the treadmill - its one of the few things I can do without a lot of pain (severe arthritis in knees)
Fiz, she's a great dr - she wants me to be happy and healthy - she also agrees with waiting on the meds a few more months
lady not being rude, but how old are u.
Its just so frustrating to see people lose hundreds of pounds and here I am, going nowhere, despite what I do
lol, Oggy, I'm 38
lady have u got any support.
do you have someone you can exercise with, lady?
oh yes, my husband and family are wonderful, and my friends have been very supportive
lady however you ultimately go about losing the weight you need to lose, keeping it off is a matter of major lifestyle shifts. sounds like you're making some smart and healthy choices for yourself, and if your dr. supports you then it makes sense to me to give it a little while.
Yup, hubby goes with me to the gym, he's my coach lol
lol. you can have 'gym dates' :)
Thanks Fiz - mostly I was just looking for "validation" as my psych prof used to say
Go lady - you got yr babble buddies here too around the world
Abe, oh yeah get all hot and sweaty together lol
Amen...
lady that's good all over exercise, too....
lady- have you tried any of the weight lose meds (adipex, merida, etc)maybe to help you along? i'm not sure of your health conditions nor am i an adovacate of meds but everyone needs a little help from time to time
lol
I was on Meridia for about a year, lost 50 lbs, but my new insurance won't cover it now
lady- that sucks- sorry
just lay in wait at the doctors til the drug reps come and beg for samples :)
know that whatever you choose to do we'll be here with you! insurance isn't so good at recognizing the value of intervening before something is a deadly problem - they'd rather have you hospitalized when you "really need it" than pay for nutrition, exercise, etc.
(sorry if any of you are insurance execs!)
Sadly Meridia is controlled, so no free samples
help on ag5/14??????
Yeah, tell me about it - the insurance will pay for gastric bypass but not Meridia
a+ piece of DNA (ge4)
Sharidan- a + DNA
ag5/14 - a + carrier of traints that get passed down from parents to children
we dont need health insurance here, we are very lucky.
no thanks
does the company offer any discounts? i know that adipex has a card the give out if your ins. won't cover it
there is a big push toward surgery these days, as they find newer and more innovative techniques
thank you Fiz and Abe!!!!!
yw sharidan
yw sharidan
how about at5/10?
I lost a friend in surgery for gastric bypass, she's about my age
a small forest buffalo, Bubalus (Anoa) depressicornis, of the island of Celebes, having a brown coat and straight, sharp-tipped horns: an endangered species.
at5/10=at+ burr rabbit and *** baby or *** and feather
at+gooey black substance sometimes used for roofing, sharidan
it's certainly not something to be taken lightly, lady.
I love these hints! Thanks
surgery is scary- even for the tiniest things- you never know the outcome, sorry about your friend lady that is sad
That's me done! I'll try to clue this pm
Hooray for phandmd!
yea phand
wtg phandmd
yay phand!
She had other underlying health issues, some heart problems, etc and went into arrest on the OR table
very sad. i think not uncommon, too. pls be careful!
lady, that's so sad, but common. i am sorry for your loss
oggy- why don't y'all need health ins.?
oh lord, work calls - be back soon guys!
hi
bye lady- hey luck
I will keep you all posted!!
wats up?
lady- good luck too you
bye lady
abe- your icon is making me hungry
sorry beebee. i made tacos for everyone in the chat earlier :)
im off bbl.
bye oggy
sorry i missed them- my 100 calorie doritio pack is def. not enough
bye oggy
beebee - oggy doesn't need health insurance because in the UK they have universal health care as we do in Canada too.
jilli- do you mean free health care- what a concept
yes, it's "free" but we pay taxes and depending on the province in Canada we may pay a small monthly premium. But it's the same for everybody.
No, uh-uh, nope, don't get started on single-payer...*holds bucket of cold water, ready to throw*
jilli- that sounds amazing- i think i need to relocate
i'm surprised you didn't know about it, beebee!
jilli- have y'all always had this health care system in place or is it relativly new?
hello Jill, Douglas, et al!
Hi Stidmama
no- i didn't- i hear that you can get cheaper drugs(my grandparents friends were talking about it) in canada
I don't remember when it started but I guess about 30 years ago - the British system is older - and many European countries have had the same sort of thing for ages
sounds like an interesting conversation ... but I am going to sit it out and dive into the grid. Would like to finish early today if I can.
beebee, lots of American politicians have been saying "Gosh, if only we could be just like Canada with regards to health-care, everything would be so hunky dory!"
the matter of drugs is another thing altogether. We do pay for those but there is help available.
but, i will be looking in to this and then i'll be harassing my elected officals about why we to can't have it
doug- i think it would be a wonderful thing
douglas, I know you're going to talk about waiting lists and so on, but I'll take it over the no-insurance thing. I have had surgeries and didn't have to wait - no problemo
jilli- thanks for the health lesson- i appreciate it- i learn more than new words on babble
Yes, I was getting to that...
oh phantom word soignee...
I'm glad it worked out well for you, jilli...
hi stid!
hey stid- didn't see you
it works out well for millions, douglas!
hi beebee. :-)
I'm no big fan of the New York Times, but they beg to differ... http://www.nytimes.com/2006/02/26/inte rnational/americas/26canada.html?ei=50 88&en=c2dd6e7e8f107208&ex=1298610000&a dxnnl=1&partner=rssnyt&emc=rss&adxnnlx =1156791781-Wd1/MJB+M/H7NyHkxzt2Mw
this dicussion could go on ad nauseam and usually does! So shall we drop it?
Consider it dropped...we need to focus and prioritize! How many words do you have? I have a paltry 48...
I have 46 words, need 90 more. Taking a break to check mail and get lunch.
oops, missed the health care discussion - my partner works for a community health center and i have lots of thoughts - but you're right, jilli, it's something that can be discussed forever and i've got just a few minutes and 30 to find...
i don't know exactly what ya'll(jilli and doug) are talking about, but i do know plenty of people with ins. who can't get the neccessary treatments due to a bunch of ins. bullsh**, and i know that i pay way to much a month for coverage and there are plenty of people who need medical attention, but can't afford it so they suffer. so whatever flaws jilli's system has, it seems way better than what we have in place
i'm dropping too, a little late- sorry
This candy bar has smooth, rich chocolate featuring little air bubbles, making it light yet satisfying for those chocolate lovers out there.
does anyone need a clue?
I have 18 left to find so...*dives*
I like that chocolate bar Douglas!
I haven't seen it lately in Minnesota, but I'm glad it's still around!
Cost Plus World Market carries them
i don' t need a clue, but a candy bar would be nice
Having a York Peppermint Pattie as I type abe79
When I have learnt what progress has been made in modern gunnery When I know more of tactics than a novice in a nunnery In short, when I've a smattering of elemental strategy (searching for rhyme for "strategy") You'll say a better Major-General had never sat ****
mmm, peppermint and dark chocolate is a beautiful thing.
Fiz -- just saw you were here. How's your hand today?
a yellow pungent volatile oil formerly used for bleaching and aging flour...pungent and volatile would make a great blog tagline...brb...
lupe- yum yum, i love to eat pretzel sticks with them
Beebee if you are still here...would like a clue for the TA 6 and 7 ..
hand's doing better, stid, thanks. i was good to it all weekend, and am braced up at the moment. someday i'll have to return to normal but i'm enjoying not having to carry the laundry basket up the stairs, do the dishes, etc.
beebee - never tried that before.
*trying to think of rhyme for "strategy"; coming up empty*
kkiln- ta6/18=ta+2nd vowel+o*e, two, three+3rd vowel +1st vowel/ 7 = 2nd vowel on end
startegy: battery (it's a cheap rhyme but it kind of works)
Fireworks! How sweet it is!
yay merk!
wtg merk
Congratulations, Merk!
Days go by now that I can't get here so it makes it all the sweeter when I can and I do finish.
lupe- am jealous of pepperment pattie, however, would prefer m & ms
yay Merk!
a small forest buffalo, Bubalus depressicornis, of the island of Celebes, having a brown coat and straight, sharp-tipped horns: an endangered species. The last time I put this up, I stupidly forgot to get rid of the word...
merk- i LOVE that panda
woohoo Merk! Hello fellow Babblers. Just mixed some cookie dough and need it to firm up in the frig. What better way to spend the time, then chatting with the babbling crew.
kkiln- did you get the ta's?
mmm, judy, save a hot cookie for me!
hey judy
Thanks Beebee --- I would never have gottenthat on my own.

i'm supposed to go to a baseball game fundraiser tonight but it's cold and rainy and i'd rather stay home and bake!
butter balls, Fiz. I'll put some aside for you. Hi beebee.
You dun stomped on my heart And you mashed that sucker flat You just sorta stomped on my ***** From the late John Denver...
=O
*swoons with excitement*
the cookies are for my 4 year old nephew's soccer team. Practice today and they need nourishment after all their hard work.
Did someone say cookies?
heya
cookies=nourishment? whole wheat flour i guess :)
You can have some too doug.
lol Fiz.
Hi, Tor and kkiln and scv.
woo-hoo!
damp, miserable and rainy here yesterday, Fiz. Guess it headed your way.
guess so, judy. poured all night and now just spitting.
super rainy today in chitown. yuk
The farmers need the rain here in Minnesota, but the State Fair doesn't need the rain...
we had major flooding here just a short time ago but everything was very dry again. we needed the rain.
Warm and sunny here . .
Is it ever anything but warm and sunny in San Diego, tor?
same here :)
trade ya Torgone!
in san diego?!?! no...i don't believe it.
Hi rae. beautiful icon.
thank you and hi :)
Sometimes it's hot and sunny . . .
lol tor
Sometimes I do miss certain aspects of having weather .. A nice thunderstorm, for example ..
you don't get thunderstorms? we get them occasionally
its been terrible in ny.. rainy, windy, dark, cold. though the cold part i like!
i have a good friend from SD who's in grad school in western MA - she had a hard time adjusting to things like snow and days of solid rain. and wearing a coat.
you're getting all the weather that went through PA over the weekend, scv
love it.
Attribute of polygons...
yeah, around 5 am the rain was actually scary
here too scv - i got up b/c it was so loud against the windows, and could have kayaked down my street
may I please have a clue for the ag 5/14? is it a strange plural?
fireworks!
a + DNA, raelite
wtg abe
Hi Tor, I would like a thunderstorm too but alas, I am in the direct hurricane watch area for Ernesto. Just when we thought it was safe to come out.....
a+piece of dna (ge4) rae. yay abe!
YAY abe!
woohoo Abe!
Hiya Stid.
i'm here for the next 1/2 hour for clueing
Hello, luv! Are you going to evacuate?
thanks everyone. Nancy are you in florida?
hi Judy, lurking in between reading news etc.
The English words otto and ***** are transliterations of the original Arabic word ‘itr.
Not at the present time but if things get really rough, maybe.
abe, yes on the east coast.
yay fireworks!
Any of several sea eagles, especially Haliaeetus albicilla, of Europe.
best of luck to you Nancy.
congrats to Fiz!
keep safe nancy!
YAY Fiz!
We were watching this storm headed for Texas and everyone sighed, thank heaven it isn't us again and then we are watching in horror as it is projected to move right over us. They have already moved or are in the process of moving the shuttle back into safety. Woe is me. If the electricity goes off (as it ALWAYS does), I will not only be hot, hot, hot but in major babble withdrawal.
woohoo Fiz!
Maybe he'll blow out over Cuba. Anyway, please be safe. I need someone to laugh at my lame jokes ..
Nancy, please keep us updated... as you can. PappouTed and someone else who was on last night are also on storm alert...
nancy we will be thinking of you. you can always make up your own grid and see what you can find!
my grandpa lives in s.e. florida, nancy, and he says that the loss of the electricity is the hardest part of a storm
Tor, lol, always
Or go back in the archives and print off some of the old grids... I am SURE paper and pencil is just as satisfying... *wicked grin*
i heard all this stuff about disaster preparedness on the radio this weekend and went and took a big wad of cash out of the machine. (not so big if you're a robber or catburglar, though!)
stid my mom found nut's dog friend!
*taking notes* and you're keeping it where, Fiz?
OH YESSSSS!!!!! in time, I hope? is it okay? is nut okay?
taped to the back door labeled "EMERGENCY CASH", stid.
If it weren't for the Scots, the dictionary would have a lot less words...
Thanks, Fiz, afraid I'll miss seeing you -- you're at work when I plan to call... ROFL
Your grandpa is right. Besides being stifling hot, you lose all the food in your freezer, can't sleep. Unfortunately, I do not happen to be independently wealthy and can't afford a generator.
great news about nut's dog!!!
How long does the power go out, Nancy? Can you just put lots of bags of ice in the freezer and cover it with blankets to help things stay cold?
The guy with the arrows making people fall in love...
he's fine - the dog warden took him to a no kill shelter - and said he told nut's brother that's what he was doing! so either the brother didn't understand or he
at6/18 any clues please
's a total jerk - either way dog's ok and waiting for nut.
Locutus, you are the nicest Borg ever!
Alas, majmom, I don't have that one either...
but i haven't heard from her yet so if you see her let her know. and stid - just leave a note - and help yourself to the meager offerings in the fridge
*sigh of relief* I am so glad the puppy's okay. That is the important thing.
I will let Nut or Ren know as soon as I see one of them.
Oh -- I was going to leave blackberry cake and some jelly behind... anything else you want stashed at your place, Fiz?
the dog warden said that he could tell this was a great dog and that he would find a good home somewhere. and my mom's feeling quite pleased with her sleuthing skills.
AT 6/18: to make one's goal, to AT*** the summit?
stid, the last two that we had, Frances and Jeanne, my electricity was out for 8 days the first time, and 9 the second. No fun. I stayed for Jeanne and believe me it is really scary watching parts of your house blow off.
mmm, sounds perfect, stid. i've got a bottle of sparkling cider in the fridge that should go well.
i keep staring at the grid like new words are going to form all of a sudden
Your mom SHOULD feel pleased. Bet she'd make a fine babbler... Please tell her she is blessed thrice for her kindness.
sounds awful, nancy! we just got our "evacuation map" in the mail this weekend - a completely inscrutable jumble of colored areas and double-pointed arrows.
lol scv!
Oh wow, Nancy, it would be scary. I am SO GLAD to live somewhere that the only thing I have to worry about is earthquakes. We just don't get the big storms I remember from the East Coast.
Hi all. Going to try to grab a few words.
*passes out warm butter cookies to fellow babblers*
nancy, my grandpa has a girlfriend on the gulf coast, so he usually flees. IF he has gas in the car. he says the gas pumps are also down for days
hi musicmom!
hi musicmom -- did your mother ever talk to you after you left? she popped up and said she was so busy in the grid she hadn't seen you talking at her! She's nice.
thanks Judy! Hi Musicmom
Yes - she emailed me later and said she ended up talking to you and someone else
mmmm, shudy, theeesh are delishoush!
Hey musicmom!
We had borrowed that movie from friends so I wanted to watch it and get it returned. We had kept it for over a week
Nancy, you are such a trooper for hanging in such conditions. I'm impressed!
abe, that is the trick, getting gas, because everyone who does have a generator is at the station buying gas as well. And the pumps go down because there is no electricity.
yes, I think it was kalea... I hope the movie was good.
Judy, I will assume the butter can be "virtualized" for me or I will end up looking like Doris did when the doctor came to visit!
4 to go but need lunch -- stid, that blackberry cake sounds good *hint*
Thanks Tor, you are so sweet to me......flutter, flutter....
well nancy, i will be thinking of you these next few days!
anyone have experience selling cookies?
*shakes head* oh lor' not again! LOL I think I'll go before Scarlet is all over Rhett... see you in few!
Please can anyone help with re6/21 and ta5/16? Thanks
i only have experience eating them, lupe :)
LOL
ty -finally got the right combo for at6/18
carp- to warm up food (re 6/21)
*tosses cake at jill* or you could always come down and sit on my dogs...
stid et. al, my parents are coming to visit this weekend and i'm hoping to introduce my mom to babble. i think she'd enjoy the game and the community - she's big on crosswords - but she's a little technophobic
Thank you all for your good thoughts....I will let you know what happens....maybe Ernesto will blow so far east that it will go out into the Atlantic (one can only hope)
mmmmm, stid, yummy - and I'm too heavy to sit on your dogs, sorry
UGH I can't post.
ta 5/16- sounds like a type of straw used to make scarecrows
ta5/16 sounds like a material that one could use to weave baskets.
just caught up with the chat. *whew* Be safe Nancy. Feel free to come to PA.
<synopsis> - the movie was good, I'm a GS of course I have sold cookies.
good luck, Nancy - I've been through a midwinter lack of pwer for 5 days in Quebec - no fun but at least we had a fireplace to keep warmish
Fiz, soooooo wonderful about the pup. I am thrilled. I was so upset when nut told us what happened. Bravo to your parents. Share the cookies with them.
O where have you been, Lord Randal, my son ? O where have you been, my bonny young man ? I've been with my sweetheart, mother make my bed soon For I'm sick to the ***** and I **** would lie down.
bfn
Thanks both. Only got 1 to go. Hunting na4/4
My mom loves babble now that I have her playing it.
Stid, I'll meet you at Fiz's place to make sure her cash is in a safe place! lol
took a while to get her to try it
lol warmish! not a great option to keep you coolish w/o power, though.
na + olive **l
It's such a sweet happy song about being poisoned by one's sweetie...
lol judy. like i said - large envelope marked "emergency cash" - can't miss it.
FIREWORKS!!!!! Thanks for the clues.
One in whom the property of an estate is vested, subject to the estate of a life renter. Oh, that really helps...
woohoo Carp!!!!!!
Hooray for carp!
just send a postcard from your carribean cruise, ok? actually - more like a motel 6 off the PA turnpike, when i think about how much is actually in there...
Bravo Carp
yay carp!
douglas what's that a clue for? i'm done and still have no idea!
Well, we can supplement the fund with sales of my cookies and Stid's cakes.
congrats to carp
they said on the radio that you should have enough cash for your family to live for a week with no credit - taking into account things like gassing the car and getting hotel rooms should you need to evacuate - and i
oops, i'm CHEAP, so i kept it low!
Hi all! Anyone have clues for the et's?
i'm off. good luck to all :)
bye abe, see you later
judi - et6/21 is a gas that arises from bodily functions
bye!
second et6/21 is same first 3 letters, ends in charged particle - et7 is the plural
by Abe. Hi Judi.
Smashing. Thanks, Fiz.
yw judy. and the grind calls - back to work. see you all later. thanks for the cookies judy!
cu later Fiz.
Many Babblers think President Bush thinks he rules by royal ****
wow ..how i am struggling tonight...just 10 left and i am cannot figure them!!!!
Look to the rock from which you were ****, to the pit from which you were quarried; (Isaiah 51)
Hi there mo, can Ihelp?
Hi Doug--ou remind me of therock that is higher than I, from which I waS HE**
hetty please ..how about the th8 for starters?
Indeed yes, hetty!
Shalom everyone
o'k' Mo, take your th4/4 and add the latin for born
Shalom, ARB
YAY Carp!
Shalom ARB, you're not usually here this time of day. Are you okay?
that should be th4/5, sorry-you can also add a hook and the past tense of to eat
Hi Stidmama. You're right -- this is after 11 p.m. for us. But we just came in from a party and I wanted to check in. Finished the grid earlier today.
Shalom ARB
hetty thank you ...still working on it...i am a bit slow tonight!!
or you could, Mo, take the th54/12, slip in a circle before the hook, and then add the past tense of "eat"
okay, YAY ARB for finishing the grid. Glad it was something fun that kept you out!
*th5/12
I was not an easy grid today, but I managed without a dictionary, so I was pretty pleased. Groaned a lot, though.
th 5/12 Greek alphabet letter
u4/8 sounds like tofu turned into alphabet soup
good morning all
*tu4/8
also thh 5/12
Hi, lynxxxxx
good morning, lynxxx... it's nearly midnight for ARB... LOL what better demonstration of the breadth of our community!
also th 5/12 common word (3 letters) + common preposition
Afternoon all! just checking to see if my Icon got changed OK!!
Afternoon all! just checking to see if my Icon got changed OK!!
A number of people have commented that this is not an easy grid, ARB
Hi Lynxx -- didn't we converse 15 hours ago?
and don't forget, ARB, to add an e"
hi rumple!
looks like purple bindweed to me, rumple!
My morning glories! They are beautiful today after the rain.
they are gorgeous! Do you have to plant them every year?
While I was writing about how it looked like CAPTAIN Jack Sparrow, I saw the morning glories...
No, and the multiply like crazy. I could send you some seed if you want.
Douglas, when I look at the words now, I don't see a lot of wierd words, but it seems that what is there is not easy to detect.
hi ARB - I thought that it was more like 30 hours -!? no matter - glad to see you between all the trips !
thanks rumple, but I spend a good bit of time pulling the white bindweed from the lilacs and other ornamentals... Not sure I need another one that "naturalizes readily"! :-)
I have 77 to go... 77 to find, grab a word, type it out, 76 more to search for....
lynxxx -- is that some sort of magnolia?
We have about 3 acres fenced in 6 foot chainlink for my Deerhound and it climbs all over it.
does anyone have the last he 6/21 and 5/12?
Anyone need any help before my eyes close permanently and my fingers curl up?
yes stid - leftover anyway
You have a deerhound? why am I not really surprised? Wish I could put up a fence just for our shepherd. He doesn't roam (thankfully) but he really can't just be let out.
oh ARB, I hope not "permanently"!
Rump, I still see the captain, alas. Stid, I'm here and wanting to help.
he 6/21 is the plural of the he 5/12 before it (large bird)
I am not far enough to ask for clues yet, ARB, but thanks.
hetty, just need to refresh for the pretty posies.
he 5/12 after that is the plural of he 4/5.
the 5,12 after the bird plural is the plural of the 4,5 above it
thanks for all your clues but i still cannot get the th8 perhaps it is an American word?
Not "permanently permanently, just permanently for tronight
eo6.18 (can't get that ending!) - TY
Thanks! Fireworks!
*sigh of relief* good thing, ARB! I hope you will have good dreams.
Alas, I don't have the th8 either, mo
YAY turtle!
Hooray for snppngtrtle!
th8 - th + charged particle + past tense to eat (TY for earlier clue)
the eo 6/18 ends like a geologic period tertian, permian...
th 8/45 = th + electrically charge atom + past tense of puting food in your mouth.
But I do have the eo6/18, lynxxx! After an ****** length of time, you might get an appointment with a Canadian doctor...
mo, try again. Take th**5/12--archaic form of "yours"rhyming with "mine" Slip a circle between the third and fourth letters. Now add past tense of "eat" --"I a** a peanut last night. . ."
You could get an apointment with me in a flash, Doug
The Brits, of course begin eo6/18 with an "a"--they are aeo**out of date
ARB thank you i have it now. Hetty...thank you for your help too
okay, this is really silly -- I monkeyed all around the "smelly vegetable" for the top O words... then finally got it... *sigh* need brain food.
Let me rephrase that...after an ****** length of time, the UN may do something about about Iran's nukes...
okay, my new phantom word is nougat
Mine is tearooms
After ARB mentioned a Greek letter in the grid, mine is theatre
heinous and fatuous
******ing nabobs of negativism
hi all.
hi shutter!
I could have sworn there was a word "theatron"
Stid, that is funny that you said you need brain food because my little sister takes fish oil and after she was taking it for a while she really started talking a lot more, so we call it brain food!
That's a very nice word, hetty, as in electronic theatre...a virtual reality viewer...
moving on (still can't get the end to the eo..) clue for the SO6.18 pls
what's the 8 other than the th8?
LOL shutter! There is a lot of truth to benefits of cod liver oil... my grandmother took most of her life. I do not think that the peppermint flavor was an improvement!
hello chris - re8.40
then other 8 is an "re"Chris
ours are lemon flavored and we also have some that are starwberry flavored (those are what my sister takes)
hello Chris, long time no see!
thanks lynxxx & hetty - will try to find it!
I'm sure you'll ge it again chris
It' a typical "redo" RE word; after it put the verb meaning reach the top--a*****the heights
hetty! great clue, I got it!
I'm sure you are capable of such an a****ment, Chris
that's a real 'groan' word!
Thanks!
nobody got the SO6.18 ? what about the TA5.10 near the root vegetable
lynxxx so6/16 moonlight so6/18
TY Frances
so6/18 is a musical form--piano or violin
lynxxx -- do you need a plural on the TA 5?
My so6/18 clean his room ..
I LOVE Mozart's So**** in C!
torg, I don't believe you would actually sound like that when talking about your son--
lynxxx You're welcome
TA5.10 - got the plural root vegetable
do you have the raw beefsteak, lynxxx? steak ta***?
the other ta5/10's are both plurals lynxxx
lynxx what about the sauce you make for fish, minus its hook?
Stid likes it with raw beefsteak (ugh) but like it with fish
TY - not australian spelling !
Of course, hetty knows I don't eat things from cows...
how many words today? I only have 48 and cant get anymore.
136 shutter
Are my posts going through?
HI Shutter
lynxx, our daughter has been making us go to bed nightly wearing our FREMANTLE DOCKER SCARVES; she swears it's what is making them win every game--
Well, gang, today has not been my day
I don't eat fur or wear meat...
Ok, there, I refreshed, now I see them.

sorry lynxxx, don't have those yet
I don't have those, lynxxx...
ta6b and ta7 (latin plural) buld on the archaic form oof "taken" (not in the grid, alas) by adding a third and then a first voel
ta7 - very Brit drink, reverse vowels, then not out, reversed, Latin plural ending (2 vowels). For the 6, remove last vowel
I need more than that, hetty, please?
Can you work through all the typos? TA**plus third plus first vowel
ah! that's what I was needing, thanks hetty
guess you didn't see mine, eh stid?
O'> Stid, jilli has it--keep reversing from teatime on
Clever jilli
TY hetty & jilli - that was in the grid over the last few days wasn't it?
can't take credit for that clue - it was given lst night
Jill's was even more confusinger to me than yours, hetty --- but thanks Jill!
I don't recall whether i saw it in an earlier grid or in my sleep--I frequently dream I'm playing babble
don't remember when it was there before - should write the silly thing down!

nut, it is a happy doggy ending
i'm going to offer to foster him for the shelter if they need the room, but i was only going to get him and give him away anyway, so he's a better chance of finding a home there
Glad to see someone has joined me at WEBoggle.

Hi andree
hi andree, hi stid
so i can feel very good in recommending 'the erie cafe' for absolutely fabulous steaks !
except anyone who used to watch saturday night live when Mike was on...
nah cioca - just my current workload has to be done all in house and have to stay till it's done, so i call it lock down

lol right stid - now talk among yourselves LOL
to acheive
we went to the red sox AAA team game tonight and they played the last out of the LLWS - lauren was reduced to tears as with most major sporting events.
to reach a goal
AT 6/18 is to achieve, to grasp, to take hold of one's goals.
haven't met anyone else who would know such words, but you live in Amish country Nutty
exactly ingy!
nutty put another tick mark in the jewish category right here....
I think my favorite jewish (yiddish?) word is Meshugga -- crazy. As in, you're ALL meshugga!

my tush is amish and my tongue is jewish

wow, look at the time! are we storying tonight?
yoder
my favorite film was vitness
my Jewish friends in Danbury referred to me as "vreschimmelter Yinge", no idea about the spelling
stid the nice think about yiddish is it's transliterated so you can't so much spell it wrong. but you have to tap your forehead with your pointer and middle fingers when you say it.
sorry to miss it stid, but i must make nice with the bed now
lol chj
woah...stepped away for a bit and inge, stid, chj and others come on in...hi there!

te 4,5 the last te before the game
Not that she had ever really had any doubts -- she had watched him grow up since his strange arrival in the village, and had often spent time with Adam and Ava's family (they were cousins after all) in the cold months when few people were out getting sick or injured.

Few people had ever been to her room, but Paul had helped build the bed cabinet when he was quite young.
night night Phan
Esmeralda remembered telling Adam of her need for a bed that would protect her better from drafts.
*hmm, do you think Esmeralda might have a little crush on Paul?*
They had walked out in the forest one autumnal day and found the perfect tree. It was tall and broad and straight, with limbs starting well above head height.
chj - ah- i went to a small, intimate 50th b-day dinner last night (at the erie cafe - where i repeat they had terrific steaks!!!) - 4 city lawyers, 2 police officers, 2 feds - lotsa great stories -very funny about idiot bad-guys
Adam and Paul worked through the day to bring it down and limb it up.

Paul had been tireless, working with the drawknife, taking the bark off in long sheets and rolling them up before placing them in a barrel of rainwater.
For a young boy, he had showed remarkable skill, patience and understanding.

Ava had thought long and hard about this, then agreed that Paul might spend some of the time during the winter months. She asked if Cathy might be able to sit in on the lessons, and Esmeralda readily agreed.

So for several years, when the weather grew too cold to work on the farm or in the yard, and the children were not at school all day, Paul and Cathy walked into town to take lessons.

Esmeralda offered to teach him the rest of what she knew, so that he could become the next doctor, but he declined. Even at a young age, he knew that the hours and the commitment to the community would keep him from successfully supporting a family.
Thanks, I should havbe seen that, sometimes I think I look to close and don't see the obvious
ta 6/18 anyone?
Doctors lived on what people paid, and what little they could earn in between the times they were needed. Esteem, they had in truck-loads. Comfort, and the ability to support a family, they did not.
Esmeralda understood, though she knew he had it in him to be a greater healer than she could ever be.

hello everyone - I am about to be bombarded at work so I would love your help on my last 2 - EO6.18 and TR5.10 (the last one before the fish) - TY TY
y=the ta5 before the potato looks much like it, but with first vowel in place of a second one--think sauce with fish minus the hook

Esmeralda crossed her arms in front of her and nodded at the group.
"Obviously, things in that family have not always happened in accordance with our traditions. Certainly, none of you would have taken in an orphan child!"
"But that family also has made more contributions to the well-being of this town than any other in recent years."
