Morning all! Another smallish one today, is it any good?
hi sprite!
personally, sprite, i think it's evil, but ...
the biggies are fairly common
there are 6 Ks sprite!!
so far not so bad.. but then, I like K's :)
Hi Sprite
hi sprite -- good words krys!
btw ((sprite))
I don't like it very much, so far.
I have to find 6 Ks before I can play! ;)
halfway
got 70 - going to get my icon now - hit a little wall
I've got 59.. still only 2 K's
It must be something psychological. I have entered about 25 K-words. NONE was valid.
3 K's
one is a currency and one is a ruler, those are the only ones i have.
think 'aga', sprite!
ooh, one K!
kh4: = A prince
i have K words also that mean a small hill and a bump on a tree
I love you to bits, sfneil. That's one. I tried king kong, but to no avail!
khir
oh crap, sorry
kmon, it can't be that hard...
I wouldn't mind if it were valid, sfneil ;)
that is not the right box sfneil
the founder of MacDonalds is in the grid.
i love you, too, sprite, just don't pay attention when I random-type in the wrong box
he's not a word melon!
and they dare say its not a word melon?? :-)
hi, tiny!
wait...he's not a word, he's an institution.
lol fran!!
Yeah, got the currency. That is 2 down, 4 to go.
4 Ks!
kn 4:9 + the first half of name for bag worn on back
how many words today please
that's the one i just got tiny!
hey thanks, tiny!
Thanks!
kn4/8, like gn**led
i just got a really strange K from mistyping - it's from teh greek, means an ornament. one to go
Just found it as you typed it :) Now 2 more and it is play time :)
and its plural. have all the K's
Errr, that was for Fran, not for Krys. Ornament hm...?
it's a kn5
yes krys, pleasce share
got my icon !
lol helen!!!
krys, what are the points?
debb - there
kh4 - prince kn4 - a small hill kn4 - a bump on a tree
I know that word. I know I know that word. *kicks brain in 4th gear*
kn5 - an ornament (greek) kn6 - plural of above kr5 - a currency
Yeah! Kn5/20
thanks sprite
looks like a typo, no?
Krys, you're the best. Got the Ks, now it is time for fun!
debb- there's a site - of course i don't remember the name, have it written down somewhere -you have an idea for a t-shirt (mug, mouse pad, etc) & they will print it up, take, fill & mail orders & you get a cut of each shirt sold - that's where i first saw one of these - very popular with the reality show contestants, lol
strange word, thanks krys!
thats funny helen! i like the idea
brb
yeah - it's a great idea - if only i could think of something clever now
finally found something
okay I am too sleepy now to do the k's, but it was fun hanging out on babbler and seeing friends from old times... i hope i'll be back soon, but i don't know... goodnight, babblers, wherever you are!
I have always wanted a T-shirt stating: "You have to kiss a lot of frogs before you meet a prince"
'night neil! sleep well.
by sfneil! hope to see u soon
(((sfneil))) it was good to see you again!
where the heck are the G's?
i still cant get those last two kn's

thankyouthankyouthankyou!!!
LOL lickety! *hug*
aaaaah - lickety the great!!! thank you thank you!
You're the best lickety!!!!!!!!!!!
debbinia - the kn5 is like the things you use to turn on the burners of your stove... only different last letter, then misspelled
mispelled
whatever
Your Welcome! Have fun, and don't push around the newbies ok
oh clever cluey Lickety!!! Thanks!
ty lickety
i'm going investigate the G's
i understood krys - thanks!!!
Krys: greek plural of knowledge of spiritual matters; mystical knowledge.
have a great day lickety

Lickety you are truly awesome
hi sprite - I thought of you when I saw the k's!
now i'm blushing!

Hey jilli *hug* That is sweet of you! Our fellow babblers helped me along and I found them all :)
grey k! :) one more & i pass halfway. then - beddy-bye!
you deserve a great deal of credit I would not finish most of the time without your clues
phantom: comparison. Don't ask me why.
i would NEVER EVER finish without lickety
I saw the k clues but only have 3 - too tired to think tonight
the g's are escaping me!
99% of the time I wouldn't without lickety!
I want gnome
OK, my 51st word is all that jazz! my F square is grey! 'nite - laila tov.
Hiya kiddies! Anybody watch Rockstar?
cybernan - none of them are in dictionary.com - would you like a breakdown of the G's by letters/points etc?
me too jilli!
hello chic!!
nite melon
love rockstar - not thrilled with ending i must admit
nite melon
yes please, krys
One G is greek plural of knowledge of spiritual matters; mystical knowledge. The other two are a pair, look Jewish.
ah, that's what you were cluing before.
yeah got all the 6's thanks to Krys
hey debb! sorry about that but my boy won! Yay Lucas!
LOL. Yes Krys, it was.
to go wtih sprite's more excellent clues: gn6/24 go5/20 go6/33 (pl)
i wanted toby - but to be honest - lucas is a great match for them
I meant K's
YW
I like K words
i liked dalana
Have to go got 32 words
BYE ALL
but everyone seemed to really love lucas
i liked her in the beginning - but then she got really mean i thought
bye tiny -- see you tomorrow
you see, I get things like knoll for the little hill, goniff for something that looks Jewish, gnomon for something Greek, and so on. Hopeless
jilli, you are very close with the Jewish word. Work with the vowels you have and realise there is no double but a single.... :)
Dilana was awesome but I knew the guys wouldn't have the cajones to pick a chick...
dilana did seem mean, but i saw that as rocker chick attitude.
thanks, sprite - whoda thunkit!
at least she's going to go on tour with them and they're going to play on her single
the celebes ox is in the building
true - she's really talented
Arent they also going to do backup on Storm's single too?
i'm watching the end of the show right now.
I taped it, haven't watched yet
oooh nooooooo we ruined it for you!!! sorrrrrry!!!

sprite - it's an old friend -- google it
morning, MVA
okay, I will if I can't find it, jilli :)
Oh wait, I already have it, lol. So that is what it means!
my cat is insisting on sitting on me which is slowing me down!
cool, got all the Gs, thanks sprite and krys!
at least she's not trying to type for me
I was just so excited; we have a Bose system hooked up to tv and the sound is just like being inthe front row of a concert. Cat doesn't care for it tho...
lol chic!
Now now Krys, you forget to tell you were only allowed to play babble as long as it didn't hinder your cat in any way!

hi nrkii

I keep seeing anchor.
Lol nrkii, give us a clue as to which one you want a clue...
I am stuck on either the first or the second ac5... I have one that is what falls from oak trees
yeah, me too
ac , has an automobile in the middle, followed by a vowel
THANK YOU
it's a type of mite
yvw
ac + Onassis to friends
kept wanting to make it an ACO word
I really love those clues, they are so smart :)

yay nrkii!!!
congrats nrkii!!!!!
congrats nrkii!
congrats nrkii!!!
wtg nrkii

i can't believe "kong" isn't a word!
That was the very first one I tried!
great minds think alike sprite
nite everyone
Night muse

And fireworks. Any clues needed before I run off?
congrats sprite!!!!!
Night debbs
and yet mo5/16 IS a word... go figure...
congrats sprite!
The only logic in the enable is that there is no logic.
night sprite - have a good day!
good to know :)
Stuck on the go's
Night muse, debb, anyone else leaving - I'm going too...
Mayne, when I have left, I have go5 (sounds like it, anyway)
nite jilli - i hope everyone is lovely to you tomorrow!
(((jilli))) sweet dreams!
thanks, debb!
Is it your birthday tomorrow?
ty Sprite! Have a good day:)
no, sprite - I had a bit of a nasty encounter at the library today, with a very rude young man shouting at me
grrrr
hi maynegirl - ok - REALLY leaving now
Oh jilli! How awful for you :(
bye debb!
Darn! How dare he. They'd better start being very kind to you very fast, or they'll be handling lots of angry babblers!
well, these things happen rarely, thank goodness
i see froelica...
They better. You deserve kind gentlemen ;)
They shouldn't happen at all - I agree with debb grrrrrr
the rest of the library workers were very kind and solicitous - a great group - all volunteers like me.
does anyone need cluing - I need to have a shower soon - for all our sakes :)
Have you finished already MG?
I am off, have a great day/night/whatever all of you and happy babbling :)
Yes - sprite helped with her clues - also - we're a twosome here!
{{{{{sprite}}}}}
YAY MG!!!!!
{{{{{{{jilli}}}}}}}} and says goodnite.
I'm leaving this for tomorrow when my brain will be working again (I hope!)
sarah!!! i found you :)
hello falcor... :)
*sounds all noble* i'm a luck dragon
like marty dog. how you feeling?
man, i want "mongoose" to work..
i didn't see mongoose, but i was trying goose
i saw another couple of dr's today, they think the problem i was having was stress related or fixable, so they're testing me, but feel confidant its nothing serious
still reaaaaalllllly freaked out though.
well good. i keep thinking about you. :)
*tries to relax* *sips wine* thanks :) i keep getting a lot of support and it makes all the difference :)
we have taken over the chat!
that's a glorious sight!
i actually need to go to sleep. gotta get up in 7 hours to take the kid to kindergarten
ouch! sleep well then!
you too. i'll talk to you later. let's get together soon!
sure thing, babe
night
night
sleep? whats that?
i think its this thing that weird people do when they get bored with babbling. i'm not personally familiar with it though
i get maybe 3 hours of sleep a night
good nite everyone :)
yowzas! my friend tried to teach himself to live off of 4 hours per night, he became verrrry ill
night helen
froelica - have you ever heard of sensory deprivation tanks?
yes, and it scares the tar out of me. why?
Another phantom word - escape - the thing I need to do now. Bye
a friend of mine used to manage a floating place when we were in college - so we would sleep there, in sep. tanks of course, & 3-4 hours was better than a full night's sleep - amamzing!
wow, i guess i can see how that would work!
fro- are you claustrophobic? ( or just scared of yourself, lol)
hi all! and yes, helen, those tanks are amazing!
a little of column "a", a little of column "b"....
that was the best sleep i've ever had - but unless you own a tank - welll, it would get every expensive to sleep there
i haven't floated in a long time, but that's what i'm asking for my birthday from everyone this year - gift certs for floating
haha
hi ata!! is floating popular in britain?
not mainstream popular, but definitely loved by some
hey ata
froe- i recommend it - it takes some getting used to - varies alot for people, but you can always get out, whenever you want, it's not like they lock you in there
ah ata - just like here
the tanks remind me of a very funny simpsons episode
and there's a light switch in there so you can get light instantly if you want. at least the ones I've been in have
yeah, i would definately try it some time, helen, i think i'd just have to mentally prepare for it!
not only is it really calming, but body pressure is redistributed so you end up feeling both mentally & physically relaxed :)
i think that might be what i desperately need right npw
now*
I thought I'd hate it, and fought against liking it for about 10 minutes then just went *floof* and loved it
wow ata - now that's new to me - what a great idea! like i said - it's been a long time since i floated
don't you get all soggy and pruney?
I think they are trying to allay anyone's fears about claustrophobia!
froe - the first time or 2 most people spend goofing around, getting used to the environment, bouncing off the sides, back & forth :) after you get that out of your system then you can relax - i almost always fall asleep right away
sounds great to me right now!! i think it would take me a little while, but i'd get there
well yes, you DO get wet - it is salt water & after an hour you do get pruney - but that goes away - just be sure to shower really well afterwards, cause dried salt can be irritating, annoying
http://www.floatworks.com/float.htm <- the place I go to
spacetime tanks is the palce i used to go to
okay - i must go get some regular sleep in my normal bed now :)
good nite ata & fro :)
night!
night!
i need to stop trying "person"!!!
I need to stop seeing pessary, because not only isn't it there, but its a horrid word too!
i've never even heard of it!
its a way to take medications - in a big capsule thing you have to stick up your bottom, to be blunt!
oh dear, I think I broke the chat log lol
Morning Atalante, how are you?
morning! glad to see another small grid ...
Yes, me too. There are some babblesque words though.
and nice normal 7s!
lol I found the c7 when mistyping k words.
same here!
Oh how funny!
Have you got any more of your work to share, what are you working on at the moment?
ohhhh well, give me 20 mins and I'll show you something new :)
Morning all. How is everyone? What's the theme today?
ooo lovely Ata. Morning matty - grid has lots of real words but some very very strange ones too.
oh dear, haven't found any of the strange ones yet
OK, I think the theme is T-shirt Art - have changed my icon accordingly.
Morning all! How many are we trying to sqeeze out of the grid today?
101, Amanda
Well it might be they are strange to me. The g's are and a couple of m's plus the kn5 & 6
well, I guess that's doable - although I'm sure there will be some bizarre ones, given the letters we're working with!
ahhhh well I haven't got any of them yet :P
got those kn's mitch was talking about - means 'bud' in German (I tend to try German words, just in the hopes that for some strange reason they'll take)
morning peeps :)
I looked up bud (my German's so rusty) and can't find that kn...I have one kn relating to fabric
good going amanda
try www.leo.org - deutch/englisches wörterbuch - it's the best online dic. I've found. 1st enty, drop the last letter
I thought I knew the German for bud, but obviously I don't lol *looks up*
Ich kann ein bisschen Deutsch, aber nicht das Wort fuer Bud! LOL
is there anything better than leaning really deep into a comfy chair? i just did that and i feel marvelous!
Ahhh...I didn't realise I needed to drop the e. Thanks
Just had a phone call and need to have a winge. I worked till 7pm last night printing training course material for a client, just got a call this morning they forgot to tell me their logo has been changed and I have to do the whole lot again. Had already planned my day with other clients work Boo hoo!!!!!
NO! how ANNOYING!
yipes mitch
Good morning all. You're entitled to be cross, FMitch.
i'd tell them "tough cookies"
boo client! don't they know how to cut and paste?
thanks guys, just felt really fed up but I will get paid twice so
I guess I had better press on and make a start
well thats ok then, i suppose
Morning Haz
falling asleep.... deep in comfy chair.... *gurgle* z.....
Good morning FMitch - soggy here today again.
hi
soggy here too ...
Here too we had thunderstorms most of the night with very hearvy rain
urk so did we. soooo heavy rain
And thunder n lightning!
Did anybody else try 'gonk'? I have a vague memory of them being toys, but we're talking a long time ago. Anyone with stronger memories?
on your own there Haz!
yes, very vaguely Haz ...
Id did Haz and was disapointed when it didn't take
that, along with fonk - no idea what they might mean, but ya never know!
I am not alone then!
Absoluetly not!
Just googled it - 'a small, soft furry creature popular as a toy in the 1980's' - I thought it was longer ago than that.
here we go FM - http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/39 773171/ (from last night) and http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/39 669345/ (from a few days ago)
Thanks Ata will go take a look
hello everyone....is it me or has the fo word for enemies been in every day for weeks !!!
Hello Karys - yes, it is appearing with regularity.
guess 'Canossa' hasn't made it's way to a non-proper noun...
its taking over from tent as the ever-present word
u guyz r soooooo wierd
I was thinking of feta and etna !
I was thinking of feta and etna !
that happens sometimes - there was a week when 'seton' was in there almost every day. I think the grid is trying to tell us something, but we just can't quite figure it out....
what's canossa?
twice ....by the looks of things !
aahh.....a hidden message you think ?
Canossa is a somewhere in Italy - 'to go to Canossa' means to humble yourself, based on the story of some Holy Roman Emporer who went to Canossa to bow before the Pope after pissing him off for one reason or another
oooo ty. thats my new bit of knowledge for the day!
morning folks..
only 101 today.. not bad
yeah Karys, a hidden message. Makes me feel sorry for the poor Babble-ghost who's trying to get through to us and just can't make itself understood!
obviously needs to try harder for us !
morning phil
hi phil!
Ata - love the frog border, such fun!. I saw Joscelin earlier as a pencil sketch, the colour has given it a gentle depth.
thank you :) the frog border just appeared on my sketchpad last night from somewhere or other! and I'm really pleased with the Joscelin pic - I feel I'm getting used to watercolour now
morning all, this grid looks horrid. how's everyone finding it?
I'm finding it difficult....
Hi M3 - have gotten about half-way and have resorted to making up words - sogom = what Sodom and Gomorrah would be called today if they still existed
oh haz if you find it hard then i have no chance !
I'm slowing down a bit after 60 words
its taken me 10 mins only to find 26 words!!!
Maybe the words are just being stubborn or something.
fucku, bitches
oh well i dont have much else to to do today so i may have a chance to finish !!
anyone else have thunderstorms last night?
yes very much so M3
lots of heavy rain here M3 but I didn't hear any thunder
yes to the thunder
We've only had a bit of drizzle here in Cornwall but like everywhere else the gardens could do with a lot more rain
loads
oh, we had several stroms the lightning was great
i was please with all the rain i have just reseeded the larg patch of dead lawn where the pool once stood, it nice and sunny today
just what you need then M3
thinking about it i should of chucked some fairy liquid on the car and got a free car wash, i know ppl who do that !!
LOL...could give it try !
We're hoping for a fine weekend - off to Wales to meet up with daughter and my 2 sisters one of whom is abseiling down the Newport transporter bridge!
oh dear....how brave !!
jfb nice, not sure abou the abseiling ewww
We hope there's no wind - she's very petite and I have this picture of her blowing away!
anything bigger than a 7 in there today?
no amanda
nope
No 7s the longest
There are just 2 seven letter words.
thanks haz - that was my next question. Have one of them...
Ditto.
cr7 and ra7
have the other if you want it
Thanks FMitch.
had the ra, and shoulda had the cr - thanks!
My phantom today - mongoose
it won't let me have a fish !!
oh crap lol
no Ata ...lol....not that one !
there's one with the same name as the statuette given at film awards
oh yes!
if it won't let me have I'm going to go out now and sulk.... ( got to hit the shops with a friend)...back later
have fun Karys!
Have fun Karys
thanks both ( she is a fun friend )
alright, I'm stuck - any i's? how many o's?
Best kind
7 o words, no i words
have fun!
cors should count!
Bye Karys have a good day
hmmm - I really dislike o-words....
mo5/16 reminds me of a 70's pop group 'In the summertime when the weather is fine'
good clue Haz
Oh Haz we are showing our age today I remember that one too.
The younger generation will be saying 'Huh'?
You get used to the pitying look and the 'who?' don't you?
lol JFB
Yes - don't forget the rolling of the eyes.
you'd think I'd have all the o-words in the language memorized by now....
Missed that bit!
who?? <rolls eyes> ;-)
Oh hardi ha ha!! Hi seano
:-) Hi fmitch et al
Hi seano
Well done seano! Prepare yourself - your son will grow up!
It won't let me have 'gonk'...not fair
we used to win gonks at the fair!
I know - we've tried as well sapphie
whatever happened to gonks?
I don't know - they didn't make any noise or demand batteries, so they were probably regarded as old-fashioned and consigned to the home for redundant toys.
check out the dictionary.com def for gonk - never heard of it in either language
I have 3 in the attic - my daughter can't bear to throw her cuddly toys out!
ahhh just got the 'mo' that reminded you of in the summertime!
What a deprived childhood you had, amanda. Never heard of gonks....
were gonks the same as trolls?
yes...just been on ebay and they have gonk/trolls for sale
No, trolls have a plastic element to them, gonks were just a mass of fake fur.
I want gnostic and gnomon
did they have eyes...can't remember
Carry on with the 1st 3 letters Atalante
Looking up google images to remind myself...
ahhh that's right i remember gonks now....i think i vaguely remember combing them a la trolls though, thats where the confusion came in
g + n5/10
Trolls had long hair - I think gonks had eyes although google images has trolls and gonks labelled as the same thing.
Thanks FMitch.
yw Haz, such a strange word
ah well, I was nearly there!
Right - time I was doing other things. I've crawled to 67 and will come back later to see what other memories can be evoked by the grid. See you all later!
maybe it was a british thing? *goes to google pics to see if stirs some brain cells*
Make your own gonk! You will need: 1 x toilet roll 2 x plastic eyes (the kind that rattle) 400 cm2 piece of shaggy polyester fur 100 cm2 piece of card Adhesive (a strong one, suitable for paper and plastic) or a stapler Scissors (ask your parents first) (european standard toilet roll size is 12.5mm long by 5.5mm diameter, which gives us a outside area of 12.5mm x 3.14mm x 5.5mm *. American toilet rolls are slightly longer **) four easy Steps to a gonk: 1. Staple or glue the fur to the toilet roll 2. Cut feet shape from card 3. Glue on the feet 4. Glue on the eyes
are the other 2 Gs gns too?
Bye Haz see you later Ata - they are go's
ty seano lol
seano - I've said it before, you're the right sort of man for this log.
oh! those little troll-thingies? I think we just called them trolls...?
Thats the only gn Atalante
seano - I bet they showed us how to make them on Bule Peter!
thx JFB
why thankyou Haz....i have come home from work, i trwisted my ankle (an old injury) so i get to babble a little earlier!
Time to make a move - I've managed just over hlfway [thank you cluers] bbl - Hey the suns come out!

thanks, lynx - I'll check it out.
they were great, as you said - I would have monkeyed those forever. :-)
ra7.32 - word not used v. much now - long-held resentment - rhymes with what you can do to a boat to keep it still
lynx, I have that for Novak, LOL - can't stand that guy

hi eva ! guess who?
at 62 words it is no longer taking the monkey words so its off to the list I go!
I just went to the list at 65 word, lynx - still looking for the last 2 kn's.. along with many others.:-)
If you need a clue just shout :)
shout!! ;-) those last 2 kn's fmitch - I should get them, but...
lol I gues you mean the kn5 & 6 Def is a budlike ornament, aparently the word is very close to the german version. Failing that kn + a vowel and end up in the top left hand corner
thanks much - I would NEVER have gotten those. wow
Those kn5 and 6 words are a figment of someone's imagination.
Hi folks. My icon pic is the tee-shirt I am wearing today.
yw Wolvie Afternoon Haz, back to find some more words or are you done?
Hi Jac!
Hi Haz
I've 10 to go - I hit the list at 72 and surprise, surprise, I'm making much more rapid progress now!
Hello Wolvie!
Hey Jacs - love yr T-shirt, that's how I felt this morning
45 to go here. No list.... yet.
TY FM - I wasn't getting anywhere with knogn! Hello Haz
and Jac - Hi
FMitch - I've a number of these tee-shirts. They're from Rosie Nieper.
Good morning all, Fireworks
lynxx knogn should so be a word!

Well done, flosey!
Yay Flosey!

phand - g +n5/10

The dictionary gives no meaning but I reckon it refers to the state you get in when you've got a cold and you can't talk properly because of nasal congestion.
happy sleepy
bye, flosey
Bye flosey.
lol!
We still have a hose pipe ban and Thames Water is wasting 1 billion litres of water a day, where is the logic?
Sorry was just listening to the news.
man - there are some weird p words today - at least to me
now for the go's?
Still a hose-pipe ban? That's gone on for months!
Yes Gail I saw Fireworks
phandmad - don't look for any sensible words in the go section.
gn = intuitive knowledge of spiritual truth said to have been possessed by the ancient Gn**tics. (Comes from the Greek word for knowledge.)
does the go use an f?
Why isn't 'gonk' a word? I distinctly remember gonk and glook (the hairy version of a gonk) toys in the 60s and 70s.
It does indeed.
yes, ph
clue for ps word?
in the 3rd position?
Jacula - we were talking about gonks earlier. Maybe it's a trademark - seano has passed on instructions on how to make your own!
4th
Not in the third position.
ra5, 6, 7??
sorry - 5th
Were you, Haz? I used to make them!
so it is the last letter?
yes, ph - then plural
lol Jacs we did have quite a discussion about them this morning
The instructions seano found seemed to be simple enough - toilet rolls, fake fur, cardboard, googly eyes. Maybe you could start a revival.
ra 6 - a term forresentment, then plural
I'll have to look in the archives later and read the discussion.
no one has the ps word?? please?
Some people were either too young or too American to remember. WE are of the chosen generation.
ps , two vowels and plural.
wolvie anagarm of what you use to wash yourself with
Good morning Babblers. Is this another grid full of bizarre words?
LOL, Haz.
I can't figure these go's
thanks haz and ph :-)
Bursting with them Scrabbler.
Hi Scrabbler.
ps is a muscle in the pelvis--an anatomy word
sour milk is said to have go****, just leave out the second vowel, and the end of not on
Morning Haz and Jac
phand - sounds like when food is not fit to eat any more but spelt wrongly
Good morning Scrabbler!
or think not hear, but go**, plus not on but o**, ph
morning scrabbler!
jeez - not HERE - I need to take typing 101

yes, yo - I did. :-)
i can't get it. It's ps plus two vowels, correct?
to me, scrabbler - man - typing is off today!!
Thats good to hear MrP
Yes, and there are lots of others like it, Scrabbler. Suspend all the rules you've learnt about the English language.
Hi to anyone who arrived while I was up the garden.
2 vowels plus a plural, yo
pseos
shoot. sorry!
ps + circle vowel + 1st vowel + snake
ps, 4th, 1st, then plural

the plural of it
Apparently, to go5 is Vietnamese for 'burglar'.
got it. Thanks for the clues!
alrighty then!
kr?
Oh, let me get my Vietnamese dictionary out.
*the 'go', I meant.
LOL, Scrabbler.
So why do Vietnamese burglars get in and gonks are locked out?
that sounded very sarcastic
kr = Swedish monetary unit.
sorta like the hawaii coffee, ph
Y'all have fun. I'm going to make coffee - obviously can't do this without it! BBL
cos the burglars have got the keys?
Haz - that's Enable for you!
Imagine how boring the grid would be with a decent database behind it.
bye Yo
thnx Jacula
My phantom for the day, so far, is 'stork'.

Nighty night lynxxx
'Night, lynxxx. Sleep well.

Goodnight lynxxx.
Damn! No Oscars to be won in this grid.
duh - that is the first, the second is o plus s snakes, then first vowel. sorry ph
got the 2nd one, thnx, no worries
Time for lunch. No oscar, but different vowel at the front gives you a word.
Got that one Haz. Lunch sounds a good idea. Think I'll have a couple of those lovely free-range eggs. Off to boil them now.... bbl.

what do you mean by "themes" -- tshirt art, etc??
I've gotten too lazy to shop for icons. I lost my original bunny, so if found...
Words from the grid today, I thought someone said.

google images rules for finding icos
bunny - 1 x kh, 4 x kn 1 x kr
ps5 anyone?
Cal -- grid words is tomorrow (always on a friday) today is T-shirt art
where do you find the theme list, pls?
oooh, ok then
rae, I know. just goes to show exactly HOW lazy I am...
Babbler keeps it on her profile... i think its linked through one of the links listed below.
lol...you can find it by opening lickety's then following the link on her page
txs, Evanadine, but I am pretty stultified, icon-wise. :)
TY mitch, I nailed em'. Some off the wall ones in there. Now in search of h.
OK thns
I need a gentle hint on kr-whatever. :(
The kr reminds me of a mexican beer.
txs, bunny...hmmm.
Ok, now i've changed it to TODAY'S theme :)
Oh, BOY... I was doing wrong R in kr...doh!
the kr is or was currency for Denmark and Sweden I think
thanks bunny -- took ma sec to get that -- i was thinking of Dos Equis...heh
That's it! Krosequis, can't see it?
something about that missing QU ;)
No, the missing XX...

Ooh, isn't one of today's Rs a Star Wars creature?
probably an r i'm missing! lol
still 59 here...todays a toughie!
trying to change my icon but not having any luck...don't know where I'm going wrong :(
i see a shirt sapphie
RA6/21 - Malice or resentment
go to my account, click your picture to edit, then upload a pic from your files by clicking browse at the bottom of the screen
your icon is changed, Sapphie, I think you just need to refresh your browser window
Hmmm, I don't remember that on in the movie...
once you have a file, click upload and the file will be uploaded to babble and it will give you a message that you have changed your icon
ahhh good idea lol
that did the trick inge ty
you're welcome. I should change my icon now and then myself...so lazy :-)
is it just me or are the G's tough to find today?
yeah...and I had a tough time with the Ks
they are, the two I have are off the wall and I've been looking for the other for some time.
yeah, the whole grid is a bit of a struggle today!
it is!
I have no Gs, and can't find last two Ks
i came in thinking "101 words? thats do-able..." now im thinking "dang! why did i start this one?!"
G 5/20 & 6/6/33 - no def., go + opp of yes + cons (use the scoring to figure), plural for 6
yeah, bunny, definitely odd ones!
oh, yeah, I use that word daily. ;-) Thanks, Bunny!
The kn 5 & 6 - splet similar to a flying insect that stigs (not a bee, but in the family), use a different vowel
according to encarta: Definition: crime Same as ganef
Sounds more like a monster on Lord of the Rings.
haha, Gandalf's nemesis!
Can't type yet, sorry, still on first cup o' joe - spelt similar to a flying insect that stings- .
I was thinking Gollums long lost sister.
Inge, I really like your icon. Do you have it larger? Did you draw it? My One&Only likes newts, salamanders, etc. :)
thanks Ankhorite! I do draw salamanders occasionally, but this pic I just stole from the 'net. I like them too! They have such gorgeous colors. (and cute hamster...your pet?)
I hope not, it's been decapitated!
Only just found the T-shirt for my icon!
One hamster in college, another who died about five years ago. Miss them both! Good little pets for apartment dwellers or dorms.
bunny!
its a great one wren!
Inge, you wouldn't happen to recall where you swiped yours?
like the t shirt wren!
It was so long ago, no; but I just used Google Images and entered "salamander" I think.
I bought the kids a hamster once and it escaped. Of all the places for it to be, it ws under my tire when I left for work the next morning. Until I find a cage they can't escape, no more!
Welcome Wibbled, love the icon (as one who cannot put her face under water!)
Thanks, Inge. Oooh, awful, Bunny.
can anyone tell me what the go5 and 6 mean? that is a babblet word if I ever heard of one. :)
thanks Wren.
bunnyvicious, thnx for the go clues, I'd been monkeying typing with no luck

thanx sappie, hey lara
Ankhorite, are you crafty? This is a Gecko, but awesome if you can pull it off for a cake! www.coolest-birthday-cakes.com, go under animals, then lizard.
ypsi, gn6 is religious, I think... hmm... and a plural, I'm sure.
I've had the same bunny for almost a year and I "lost" her yesterday when I was messing around...sniff. So, this is my new vicious bunny, but I've had her since I logged on.
Bunny, what a GREAT site! No, I do not cook, but he does. Poor guy gets stuck making his own cakes. That's got some wonderful animals on it.
must be my refresh only just appeared. I try not to mess around known for breaking anything!
I keep turning my cakes into them, but have only gotten one Bratz cake on there so far. I thought my Yoda cake was awesome!
what amazing cakes!
I like the Monster Inc. , gonna give it a whirl for my sons b-day.

Don't know if this is the right one, I'm still short one "c", but add a vowel to the co 4/5, like what is in the middle of your face
thanks bunny that was the one I needed, what do you need
co 5/12replace first letter of r 5/10
Good morning, everyone :) -- back for the 14 I didn't get last night
HI nan
Therapy, no, I need that pesky "n" on the fourth row.
evanadine, what does it say under your sheep?
kn 5 and 6 replace first two letters of strippy flying insect with the negative and add the k in front of that
kn 5-6: think of first part of where really sick people are - replace first letter
ICU - intensive care unit? :)
missing a p from the top corner -- have mexican money (s) and labourer -- clues for the missing?
where is the icu, peri?
In a hospital, that is where very sick people are
muscle
ps 5/12 Cyber
right!
Oh I see you were asking me a question, duh
Yea I got them, thanks so much cybernan and sappie
take the first part for the kn words and replace the h
kn 5/20, try a backpack, change the 1st vowel, and reverse the last to consonants
ps5/12 is a muscle?
what odd words the kn5 and kn6
yes
I hate ps words -- almost as much as those beginning with "a"
kr5 please
it's absolutely bucketing it down here

the ps, that is
still looking for that ps
monkeyed it!
spelled kinda like a plural of snakes
Oh, someone used this clue earlier, anagram of what you wash with in shower, ps 5/12.
anyone got the e from the first row?
could I have an alpha numeric clue?
Ram, eeeew, too deep for this site: http://www.gwc.maricopa.edu/class/bio2 01/muscle/musc14.htm don't look unless you have strong stomach!
es 5/12 - es + vehicle
its the e + s 4/5
the second one
nan, the "e" adds what happens to your skin after a cut--rhymes with "star'
thanks, bunny -- seems to me we had that one yesterday, too!
All I remember from yesterday are the "owie's" and "ozie's"!

Thanks again, Ram. Can anyone push me on that first O? I haven't anything for it.
I have no excuse for not being able to type, I'm three cups of coffee in and still oopsin'... I can't believe I've missed some of these words, down to two and crying.
Oa 5/10, spell like and island oa***, use different vowel
it's a plural
All but one of the o's are plural.
Got it! Thanks. But I meant that top O, between s and g
os 4/4 ends like what you water your garden with pluraled, the other, os 4/4 - os + Uncle **m
Oh I feel like such a dunce, Bunny... I had that one before with a terminal S (which is wrong) and didn't try it without it. The one like Uncle **m, I mean.
I think those are in every other puzzle and I still forget them all the time.
Anyway, thanks, have 'em both now.
-steppin' out to smoke, brb-
Well, this is only my second puzzle so I know I'm missing out on the "old reliables" :)
this is a hard grid today. i need ac 5/12 and 4/5 please
Hey, no, bunny, wait!
ac5/12 is a nut
That word that sounds like a garden watering device... does it MEAN anything, other than the acronym?
the other ac 5/12 please, have the nut
Phantom: nacre
magzel a+auto+vowel

pa 5&6 - spell like the word for a brooch or a short role in a movie, use different cons in middle
isn't that a pa 4, pida?

pa 6/21 - p + more than one butt]
Magzel - did you get the ac 4 yet?

Darth Tater!! Just noticed, now if I can find a Yoda Tater... my hubby would be tickled pink at Christmas!
2 of the 3 sentient species from malacandra are in this grid! but only one of them counts.
Need a clue for go5/20, please
I have never seen a Star Wars movie, but my boys and husband love it. They played with Mr. Potato Head when they were young and I couldn't resist getting them each one for Christmas. I would love a Yoda Tater too.
crosse
Marc, think yiddish... crook... spelled strangely.
sorry, wrong place
other box, magzel...
that sounds like star trek talk, hurshy?
In English, hurshy??
hi all, not really here, just getting ready to leave. nice to see you again Ankhorite.
Your missin' out, should watch the movies, I cried three times in revenge of the Sith (I know, I'm sad).
actually, not trek. cs lewis's space trilogy, first book, "out of the silent planet"
Hiya, StidMama!
g+plus item in middle of face+snake letter
Hi Stidmama
Thanks Ankhorite, that did it and I am done, half to go to work.
Glad to help, seeya :)
congrats, marc
I cried during Sith too ....
and what is your other half going to do, marc?
YAH!!! ankhorite
I meant Marc
what was the 2nd one called? I remember all the others...
hey, anyone know the ac6,21? cant figure it out..
Attack of the Clones
yes, thank you
Sera, think about crossword puzzles.
I'm getting a whole package together for my brother for christmas
Gotta go get ready... see you for a bit mid-day.
ac 6/21 - in puzzles, you have down and ac****
I just ordered the orignial 3 Star Wars on DVD for them
ac 6/21: when you sit opposite from someone you are ac 6 the table
Bye Stidmama
bye stidmama
can someone clue me on the T's that are not food? or religious philosophies?
I'm so glad I'm not the only one doing my christmas shopping in the summer!
bye, stid
They have two trilogy sets, but no set that includes all six. I'm hoping they remake the final three...
aaah, thanks so much!
ankhorite, sim to pa4 5 and 6
can you buy all six together?
I start shopping in February, pick a present up every time I go grocery shopping.
Christmas shopping!!!!!!!! -- haven't even thought about it -- still have 2 birthdays to get through first.
yw, Sera. Thanks, Hurshy, let me try...
Rae, not that I know of.
oh...that would be far too convienient...
I do the same, if I wait until the holidays everything is picked over
Hurshy, got two that way but NEVER heard the word before in my long life!
I"ve managed to get the original release on betamax of one of the movies...the 4th one...lord of the jedi?
Yeah, but with five kids... It's so much easier this way. I hit the clearance racks. We have a huge family on either side, it's alot of shopping!
betamax?
the fourth one is "a new hope"
I wait until mid November -- the grandkids are still changing their minds about what they want until then!
that is a lot of shopping. You can be almost finished when most people are just starting
there isn't a movie called "lord of the jedi"
it's the one that came out in the 70s...
Oh, Hurshy, there should be.
Anyone want a clue before I leave?
it was really old. and the guy told me it was one of the first that came out. but he could have been lying
Your thinking Lord of the Rings...and I'm peeved that they didn't shell out to do the The Hobbit with the other three.
Is that the one where Spock died? . . . .
50 left, but have to run out. Take care everyone.
i don't think so, really, ankhorite. i don't think it fits the whole philosophy. what do you think ata?
No, Spock didn't die in The Hobbit. :)
It hought jackson was doing the hobbit...he just wanted to do KK first
TORGONE YOU IMP
I hope so, and I hope he does a better job than he did with King Kong.
I gotta be me ..
I thought Spock died in the Wrath of Khan
there's recent news about The Hobbit ...
LOL!
Nah, Hurshy, I was just teasing about Lord of the Jedi, you're right, it wouldn't fit.
cyber used a word!!
he did cnan, tor just knows it drives me crazy when people mix up star trek and star wars, so he tortures me on purpose
wasn't khan spock's father?
so I did -- sorry tor, but nobody would have notice if you hadn't pointed it out!
ACK
rae used a word!
:P
and Leia Spock's sister??
lol
Cy'nan, yes, I need F clues for things that are not eating utensils, bones, or enemies, or weird tools.
got to run -- looks like nobody wants any clues -- back at the flip :)
Atalante, no Vulcan would wear her hair in poufs!
Yeah, and Luke was Captain Kirk's illigetimate child...
No no C'nan heeeelp....
kh4 was in cryogenic sleep when spock was born, for crying out loud, why do people love to torment me so
msree, are you on yet? Do you have fireworks? I do
how about to and fr**?
Because we love you, dear . . .
so...luke and picard are brothers then???!!!!
Cybernan, I need F clues for things that are not eating utensils, bones, or enemies, or weird tools.
and Vader and Q are brothers too
*crying now*
No, to and fr** is in the "weird tools" definition, I think...?
woah.
Nope, you were right, I didn't have the singular, thanks, Cybernan.
ank -- see 10:06 post
I thought morpheus and q were related...is that true?
fo Bob Fo**** designer clother
Neo is a Highlander...
Cybernan, got 10:06, thanks, only one F left for me now.
fo4/7 ditch, trench, canal and the following 4 words build on that
but he doesn't have a sassy accent
and change the vowel on end for 1st 5/15
I thought you had to have a sassy accent to be the highlander
Nope, all done with F now! Thanks, all... :)
fo words: think of what archeaologists dig up -- whole group starts with those first 4 letters
It's a ploy to fool you.
boy my fingers don't know how to spell today
those highlanders...they are so aloof!
Pida, I thought Bob Fo was a choreographer? Had a movie starring guy from "Jaws" -- Roy Scheider?
Cybernan, you were great, thanks.
Bye, everyone :)
yep, "All That Jazz"
Bye Cyber.
And I guess my brain is out there in the galaxy somewhere. I won't be giving anymore clues today, I don't think
Phantom: I've entered "norse" so many times, I should have a Viking ship in my driveway. Bye, C'Nan!
what archeologist dig up? is that an item they find or a trench?
help me please with the kn's, i need 8, 20, and 33, i have looked at the other clues but just can't seem to get them
the petrified stuff they dig up starts with fo**
kn5 rhymes with like a bee or a hornet
another clue for that fo: she worked with apes in africa...there's a movie about her with sigourney : dian fo***
which is the french word for ditch or trench
kn4/8 rhymes with paving material
Magz, the kn 20 & 33 are sing/plural and they're very weird words.
kn Try for backpack, change the vowel, and rearrange the last 2 consonants
the kn 5/20 & 6/33- spell like an insect with stinger (think bees), use a different vowel in center, then plural
kn 8, wonder if that's where gnarly comes from...
foca
focat
Bichon! Freeze!
bichon, go up rather than down "-)
clearly these people don't have cats
if they did they would know the importance of a catpan
and that a cat who takes a catnap is a napcat
I know! that's what I call my...catpan...catpan!
bichon - fo 4 - Like Who's the Bo**, add on two different vowels for the fo 5,s, then plural for the 6
i don't know the name of that insect
The live in little honeycomb looking nests, Yellow Jackets...
Anyone with a cat feels like Capn Catpan from time to tome.
Er, time to TIME.
no, I have those words
Magzel, what's a White Anglo-Saxon Protestant?
my at never uses his pan...he likes his privacy and goes outside.
asses
Where the whole world can watch him?
so I built him a little private area so he wont poop on people's gardens...it's got catnip around it
my cats are not allowed outside. i'm getting a cat genie soon, it will be great!
a cat genie??!! what's that?
Mine like to go under the porch, I sprinkled cayanne and black pepper around the edges, then proccessed orange peels yesterday and sprinkled them under there...sigh.
www.catgenie.com
it's the greatest invention in the history of the world.
wow that is nifty
Bunny, "Repel-Away" blue gel, PetSmart mail order if not in the shop.
well finally i got them, thanks so much
y/w, Magzel.
Does it work? I was about to waste alot of coffe grounds or crawl around and stick 100 plastic forks in the ground..
Can't get the kn 6, 6 or 8 can someone give me another clue please?
I think that rocky wouldn't like it though...our problem is that the dogs think the itter box is a drive by snack bar
so it's better that rocky goes outside...
there is a forum i am on where people discuss litterboxes
Well isn't that nifty. What, you hook it up in the bathroom like a toilet?
it's getting rave reviews, even the most finicky cats seem to like the cat genie
yes bunny, either bathroom or laundry area
maybe because it's always clean...I know they like clean pans
hurshy, the litterbox lady
Thanks, all... gotta go for a whlie.. 20 left! BBL
rae - they are supposed to come out with a hood within the next year, so if you got one with a hood, maybe your dogs wouldn't be able to... you know...
home sick today, so I might even finish the grid early today
Morning, all. :)
i am semi-obsessed with litterboxes, it is true.
lol...they are smaller than the cat so they used to just follow him in there...let's say he was not thrilled by that!
and rocky spens all night outside, rain or shine...he loves to be outdoors. maybe my next cat though...
Mary, take kn 4/9, change the vowel and add the snake letter before the last consonant
Not able to get on here much. This is funny. Cat boxes. The last time I was on we were writing a play about toilet seat lids for Broadway.!
What an entertaining video, $300.00 litter box. Pay a plumber to put it in, refill the cleaning solutions, seems a little expensive...
ty pida, worked on it forever
yesterday rocky was chasing a squirrel. Now, he's been after these two squirrels for a long time and they love to torture him
so yesterday one squirrel was leading rocky around the yard n a frenzy while the other was on the neighbour's roof telling squirrel #1 where the cat was
you don't need to pay a plumber to put it in, they send you the hardware you need and it's real easy to install yourself.
thats just amazing hurshy, I am sending the url to all my kitty loving friends
Morning, all. Intersting chat Hurshy. I have 3 cats. You'll have to let us know how it works out for you.
Hi everyone
hi chj

yw, plural that for the cr 7 if you don't have it already
need the last 3 ta words too please
They end just like the cr's you were after.
nono bunny, my husband demanded the car in the am and then in the p.m it rained so hard I floated home, no chance of shopping. I finally did what I intended to do yesterday
looks like i gave a wrong clue..I gave it for the co..ack. Sorry

Ank, look ahead! Do you see the light at the end of your tunnel??? go go go
18 to go!
So Atalante and Ankhorite are practically neck and neck.....
Okay, I have one OSS+ are there more?
go atalante go!
Brace yourself Atalante - there are two os words
I just don't get how to work the clue sheet at Lickety -- you have to print it out and fill it by hand? or at least, fill each word in online??
you can print it and fill it in by hand (which I do sometimes), or type the words in the top block and they will automatically appear in the proper block below.
Ankhorite - bring up Lickety's list in a separate window, reduce it in size and place it so that you can see the words you have entered. Now enter them in lickety's list, it will place them, and you will see what you lack. It has saved my sanity.
Aha, Haz, Judy, NOW I get it! hmmm.
There will be no stopping you now!
LOL
am I the only person here who doesn't fill in lickety's page LOL
course not, i'm here too :)
better to fill it in online...that way it shows you where the word fits alphabetically...for example there may be 5 da4/5's and you have two of them...by entering them in the top box and scrolling down you will know where they fit in
woot! didn't know you were still here :)
been chatting on IM with someone. 4 to go. :)
got your last 6?
Atalante, this will be my first time using the page. Trying to fill it in now.
how many words in this one?
pa4/5 & pa5/12, anyone help?
ank...i dont know how you have your screen set up...do you have licketys list and the grid side by side

afternoon babblers!
Hi, Evanadine!
ooh good, ata, how many A6 and how many P6?
or 5/12 is plural of or 4/5 - whales, Ankh
i usually resize licketys in to a very narrow column just wide enough to see the words in the list
lizmac... you your 5/12 is the model of car from a hyndai
evandine, what does it say under the sheep?
*ugh* its the icky kinda rain outside today -- the kind where its not really raining down on you, but the air is just WET.
also oc4,5
then i can expand the babble window and see the grid, the word list and also most of the chat log
Judy, I had one whale, just not more! duh!
msree -- it says "Baaaaaaaaaaa mean sNooooooooooooo!"
same here, evanadine. very gloomy. :(

an4/9, Peri. I didn't realize that I was actually using one of the words in the grid when I was cluing An4/9horite
oh, okay, very confusing to me :)
still dry Judy -- but I NEED rain! the rhodie is close gone, if it isn't already dead, several other shrubs and small trees didn't make it through the summer's drought at all, and most of the other plants are not at all happy!
Judy, I don't have the pa5,12 above the pa6,12
pa 5/12 - pa + ***ul, Korea
2nd pa5 & 6 means something that is not fashionable any more (and the pl)
Ankhorite, just read your comment about something being a German word -- there are words from all over the world that show up here regularly. lehr, nona, nene, zlote... LOL knowing English is a start, but not necessarily an advantage!
we've been going through that here, too, Stid. It's raining now and yesterday.
Well, hope the rains are gentle and moderate, Judy -- the last thing anyone needs after a long dry spell is flooding!
hi stid!
CJ the Korea clue gave me what I needed
man, work is really getting in the way of my babbling today!

LOL caitlyn... I should grab my tea, it's probably steeped long enough (only 10 am here...)
go ankh
brb
still stuck! co** and it adds up to 9 and I should be able to get it myself, right? Just by looking for two letters which add up to six?
FIREWORKS! my first!
co** sounds like a shell, but isn't.
Yeah for Ankhorite!!!
just came back Ankh, I knew you could make it, Bravo, bravo, bravissimo
I blush, I bow! I slaver with gratitude!
chj have you thought about putting your memoirs in a book ..great episode today lol
YAY ank!
Thank you, StidMama. :) And Inge, and Caitlyn. Everyone has been very nice to the newbie.
Inge said a word!
Hey, Caitlyn, is "pimble" a Welsh word?
inge said a NAME.... LOL
Anyway I didn't need it, I have the fireworks
Yeah, I'm a bundle of trouble today, LOL!
Not a bad grid today, I even had time to make a batch of Apple Chutney
YAY ExWren!
names in the grid that below to babblers dont count :)
inge, did you just get here?
mmmm apple chutney...
Ankh I dont speak Welsh im a LondonerLOL Yeah for ExWren!!
yes, I just returned, I was here this morning and finished at 11 am CT, now it is 1;15 in Northville
YAY inge!
My Welshman husband doesn't speak Welsh
well, there was sad news about Renfield's mother passing away. I started a thread for her at BabAnon under "Other Interests"
and that word was supposed to be *belong*
afternoon kids - how's everyone today?
Darn, Caitlyn. Oh, well. :)
hi Fiz -- sitting here eating stale herb bread with goat cheese on top... perfect!
yes, I heard from chj, will add my thoughts in BabAon
Nor mine ExWren..Although our friends in West Wales struggle to speak English
can someone please help me on the go5 & 6? ty! :)
Well, I trust the name issue won't come up that often. I'd hate to be a pariah more than once a week or so. :)
Ank -- go to the BBC Welsh pages, I think there is a dictionary there.
Hi Fiz
Oh, Inge, I accidentally read your profile as a dachshund-bromeliad mix...
What a savage plant that would be!
nvm, got em :)
Thanks for the BBC ref, S'Mama.
Efor, think Yiddish, think thief or bad guy, and then spell it funny.
Ankh I forgot to say welcome to Babble....you will be sorry!!LOL
a hint for the GO words please? I am down to four...
I don't know enough Yiddish to use your clue ank...
I'm looking for same as Efor, but can't get clue about Yiddish at all!!
stid how a child might say and spell something that doesnt smell nice!!
Okay, forget the yiddish... go*** and its plural... let me think a second.
thanks caitlyn *thinking*
*YAWN*
evanadine? tired?
nonono, not at all!!
Are we keeping you up evan?
*Pouring coffee for evanadine* this always helps me...
LOL!
caitlin -- WORK is keeping me up... you guys are just making it possible...hehe
*holds out own cup*
go5 - ***e with the Wind + East ** Eden
are you done with the election, Fiz?
*pouring for stid* anyone else need a warm-up?
I'm not sure what's polite in clues, don't want to go too far, but let's say the first syllable rhymes with moan, and the second is kind of "not on"
Thanks Bugsy! that's firewords for me.
Oooh, Bugzy, nice clue! What election, Fiz?
yes, stid - mixed bag, some of my candidates one and some lost - but there were some ugly politics and bullying tactics, and that alwaysmakes me mad.
and thanks Ank!
Eh, mine weren't very good. :(
YW! And Hi everyone BTW...
RI primary, ankh- i fancy myself a bit of a politico.
hi bugz!
Heard there were hot contests there.
that is why I don't "do" politics any more except to write letters to people once they are elected (for all the good it does) and vote in every election that doesn't require me to indicate a political party preference.
Any primary is exhausting.
I do what I can; I know by the time they're elected, it's too late. :(
true. hot republican senate primary - weird in such a democratic state, had record turnout of 25,000 votes. not bad in a state of a million that is over 75% democrat....
Ank -- the cluing gets better (usually) over time. Your clue was a good one, and you will figure out the sorts of clues that work quickly!
A primary is hard because instead of the us v. them feeling of a football, it's us v. us, like a fight at Thanksgiving dinner...
Thanks, Stid!
I lost the internet !!Yeah for stid!!!
hey, voting is key, as is holding those we elect accountable. keep up the letter writing!
an5/10 anyone? I'm getting within sight of fireworks at last!!!
Yay Stid!
I'd say, write letters to the editor if you want to get a Congressperson's attention... lesser offices than that, you can write directly to the officeholder and probably get a response. :)
(ankhorite - you're in the grid!) primary politics always get ugly, and then you're supposed to turn around and support the guy you've spend months skewering as dishonest, uncommitted, opposed to your values, whatever. it's a sick setup.
In the grid?
BRAVO, sTID . wAS AWAY at Babanon and the chatterbox was going top speed
liz do you have an 4/4? an5/10 is plural
Lizmac, it's a tropical buffalo... weird name. Need more?
ank, we call the puzzle the GRID
Or wait, Liz, depending on which an5,10 you want, it's one buffalo or a bunch of donkeys. :)
OOPS, silly me! I've been stressing over that one for ages!!!!!
Oh! Yes, Inge, I am! I think I'm proud of myself. Heh!
i need more clues for the an4/4!
any help with ps?
<---stoopid
an + two vowels, fourth and first
I often do that liz
thank you, i've seen those words before here!

Okay, dropping out for a while, gotta eat, thanks all!
Bye Ankh

sorry all, I drifted away for a bit. I am going to work on today's chapter for the story and post it directly to BabAnon since I won't be here this evening. I'll pop back in when I have finished and let you know.
See, you don't have to be a geek to know Lord of the Rings! :)
Bye stid i will catch you tomorrow
(I AM a geek, as it happens. But I wouldn't HAVE to be...)
*looks down at fashionable jump drive necklace* but it helps.
co4,9 have you got bottle stopper
co4/9 - change out the 1-point consonant on the bottle stopper

ty, pida. got a shirt like this for a birthday. :-)
thanks and good bye
ac5/12 - Latin pl of some kind of mite, a + auto + vowel
ty vic
Pls excuse this newbie enquiry but...how do your codes (eg ac 5/12) work?
thanks vicuna
Anyone care to clue the co5/12 that has the plural??
Jemmywemmy, ac5/12 means a 5 letter word starting with ac and having a total point value of 12. Have you checked out Angelsongs Babble Page, linked down below? It's full of useful info.below the grid
eg: ac (1st 2 letters of word) 5 (no. of letters in word) 12 (point total of letters)
co5/12 - archaic word for dead body. Just leave out the -p-
Thanks y'all. I KNEW there was sense there!
so that's what that means, Vicuna. Anyone give me a clue for gn6?
thought it had to do w/ greek word "know", but can't get it.
anyone got gn 6,24 please.
Ahh TY vicuna... or should I say, of co**** that's what the word is!
oh snap
got the gn anyway thanks.

GFY frogface, its a hard one to monkeytype
Share the GN please!
gn6/24 - Greek word for knowledge as inge said, but use the same pl as the oa5

I was right, but couldn't find it! tx
sorry g and no5,10
anyone help with any of the pa 5,12,s?
Hello to the evening shift. How is everyone.
one pa5/12 is pl of a pa4/6 meaning agouti
hiya matty. i'm struggling; my brain has all the acuity of pudding. lol
Well, gail, the proof is in the pudding!
hello, matty. frog, the two pa5/12s start with the same 4 letters. Like a pa**maker for your heart
good evening mattygroves

thanks. I actually do need to do dishes
okay, the chapter is up at BabAnon. I am going to eat my lunch and then head out I think. Later all!
bye stid
bye stid, have a nice day
Bye, stidmama.
pida, you can't change the vowel in kn4/9 to anything else and keep the rest of the letters. YOu mean one of the consanents
or do you mean the kn4/8
think of a backpack, and change the vowel, and rearrange the last 2 consonants
kn5/20 - means a budlike ornament, think ofthe first 4 letters of where you go for an operation, then replace the first letter with kn
got the CR7, whats the other 7?
Yeah vicuna, like your clue better!!! actually, its the bud of an almond
ra7
ra 7/32 is the plural of the 6/21 before it
pl of ra 6
..resentment ..
It's not a word I've ever used in conversation, i must confess. (The kn5, I mean. The ra6 comes up every time I discuss when Jabba the Hutt tried to execute Luke Skywalker.)
nice clue, vic
That was my favorite Star Trek . . . . *waits*
still clueless about the kn5
ra 6 ra**** single hump, + ran the ****e
inge2, did you try my clue at 1:13?
i'm still not getting the ra6
don't understand it, vic
Ha, not falling for it this time, torgone! :)
okay, Inge2, try kn + Operating System + green veggie that comes in a pod
help with the ac 6/21?
(and the first ac 5/12 while I'm at it, I suppose)
Rats ..
ac6/21 - "right ac6/21 the river to the other side"
got it now, vic, thanks. Thought you wrote "where you go for an operation" first time, which gave me OR.
ac5/12 - Latin pl of some kind of mite, a + auto + vowel
oops. thanks, vic
on both
I meant hospital, Inge2! Oh well. :)
... I'm not getting the ra6... help??
past tense of to r** a race, + what's left of an apple after you eat it, - e
trade you for the ra5/12, bugz ;-)
nm, got it
Lovely, thanks Inge... the ra5/12 is ra + guy in prison

** Fireworks! **
Yay for Bugzy!
TY Vicuna :)
congrats!
Hooray Bugzy!
*takes a bow, accepts large bouquet of roses*
help on the ps 5/12?
never mind
can I ask someone a really stupid question?
Good thing you got it 'cause I was having a hard time trying to find some way to clue it...
ps 5/12: just start monkeytyping
(I don't know if I should say this, but...) Ask away, jnfr...
Only if you want a stupid answer . .
Ooh, I got lots of those, tor!
how do you guys figure out the "clue" I understand what the mean (ps 5/12) but how are you getting the first 2 letters of the word?
same here!
and the # of points?
should we let jnfr217 in on the secret to getting the first 2 letters?
hmmm....?!?
i feel like I'm losing my mind...I can't seem to monkey this silly ac4/5!
c'mon ya big meanie
Of course walnut!! I'll be nice..
fireworks!
anyone know the total number of words?
hehehee. just kidding! scroll down on the page, click on Angelsong's babble page...
101
whew...got it.
On the bottom left of the page, under "Friends of Babble," go to "Lickety's Babble Clues"...
ps5.12 = p + anotherword for ocean - then change the second letter of that word from the 2nd vowel to the 4th vowel
... Or "Angelsong's Babble Page"...
Congrats Shade!
or Babblers ANonymous for BJ's stats
Or "Babbler's Anonymous." You'll find a second letter/poionts list for today's grid, along with other helpful stuff!
Yay for ShadeEagle!
yeah, what bugzy said.
thanks
and click on 2nd letter list.
Also, if you join as a pro member, you get the cool stats feature, which shows how many words from each tile!
I went pro today.. thanks guys for the direction
maybe someday I will finish a grid
today's a good day to finish! short grid, easily done with the list in no time!
Also jnfr, try scanning back thru the chat log. Lots of good clues given today. And congrats on going Pro!
you'll soon get to the stage when you can finish the grid jnfr - but then you get into the trap that you feel 'compelled' to finish every day - even when the grid may have over 400 words!
jnfr - lets us know about you! Go up to My Account and cook up a profile and an icon!
Hi all - 26 left
hey jilli! 34 left for me
Hi jilli :)
Hi Jilli - 16 here - but using Lickety
oh, I'm using Lickety - always do - I need all the help I can get!
i just starting listing myself...
Am I a loser or is it confusing using Licketys clues? I can't figure out how to do it....
actually did 2 days of the short ones listless last weekend - which I had only veer done once before!
I think I figured it out.. nevermind..
jnfr - you can type in the words at the top as you get them, then they'll be in order so you know exactly where your missing words are.
I'm just a loser
awww, i'm sure you're just a newbie is all -don't be so hard on yourself!
last word...a g6 anyone?
Jnfr - Lickety is great (although I don't enter into it). The 2 letters of each word are listed alphabetically which means as you get more more you can work out what letters of the alphabet will probably come next.
You're not a loser, you're a Babbler! (At least that's what I keep telling myself!!) :)
jnfr - st up another window and click on Lickety, then shrink it sideways. Enter the words from your Word List and they will appear in the correct boxes so you can see what you're missing - the length of the word and its point value.
fireworks!
g6 - g+ what is on the front of your face. (silly word)
Grace - plural of the g5
gn6, maybe? g + what you smell with

talking about Brit cryptic crosswords, lbd, and obscure words. The Times uses quite a few -- obsoletes and dialects - which I don't like, but at least their definitions can be found, unlike some we know!
and does anyone know what Sundra Oakley looks like as a competitor? I have her in the pool and am hoping she looks like an Amazon, tough bad ass woman.

But the best part is that you get to demonstrate your individuality by being able to pick an icon to represent yourself in the log instead of the grey profile currently next to your comments
helen it must be the number chj left on the mens room wall lol
I have been thinking about going pro.I'll go pro after I have a good working computer.First have to spend money on a brand new computer before I can go pro.

bye.hi helen!
I have missed your stories stidmama! My computer is on the way out and crashes about every 20 minutes.
{{{Ren}}}
Oh Min, that's horrible! HAve people been giving you good advice? Remember my Tom just installed a new hard drive on mine...
If my computer ever really went down, I would become a regular at the public libraries around town!
Hi, folks! Nice to see everyone! I hear rumors of a ps/???, but I'm psonked if I can find it... any help?
nice icon, stidmama
hi again sf!
It's not all that bad, Ping - what really drives me nuts is that when he wakes up around midnight it is the shrieky time -- he ramps up to full cries to the point that I have difficulty dealing with him cos the volume rattles me
Hi stidmama!
ps + midnight at the ***is
LOL, never heered of psonked!
hey, sfneil -- haven't seen you in awhile!
gw, i've read that they sound of a baby crying is one of the most unpleasant sounds for adults - and when it's your own baby....
Woulf -- it is OKAY to set a child who is screaming down and walk away briefly to regain your composure. The first time I did it I felt awful, but when I returned, I was much more able to be effective.
vince lombardi waas born iin NJ and coached football at st cecelia's high school in Kearney
hi TO!
hey, GreyWoulf! Yeah, I've been way to busy with unpleasant stuff to babble much lately, but it's nice to be back!
i am very ready for uninterupted sleep again, gw
there you go helen
oh I know that too, stid -- the prob is that now that he is mobile he follows me!!
welcome back TO...hair still wet?
Also Woulf, I have hyper-sensitive ears. I invested in earplugs early on... ;-)
I have been to the library to check my mail, but they kick you off the computer after a half hour. No time to babble at all. This is the first grid I've been able to finish without computer crashing. I need a new hard drive also. l'd rather just get a new computer though
sorry to hear that, sfneil --- hopefully not too depressingly unpleasant
for a while - hi woulfie!
stid -- I just may try that tonight -- if he wakes up (Why didn't I think if that on my own?)
Do you know there are "external" hard drives that can plug into a USB port? Sometimes they go on sale at the big Geek stores around here. It's easier than tearing the box apart.
Nah, GreyWoulf, nothing too serious... just one of those periods when I can't stand up for falling down, y'know?
first ra5/12 please anyone
hi stid
I hear you, sf -- been there myself a time or two -- glad you are back :
Because, dear younger-than-me father, you are in the middle of it and some days it's hard to see past the end of your petite little wolfish nose, let alone look for ideas! {{{hug}}} you will both survive this.
No,I didn't know that stidmama, but I'll check into it.
Well I am off to take a shower. Will be back to clue if my computer does not crash. Thanks again for clues!
Later Min!
:D {{stid}}

ac 5/12 please?
ac 5/12: what squirrels eat
at this point I am indifferent, Owl -- I feel it just confirms my perception that I no longer need to be there -- I am trying to figure out when I am gonna have the time to go there to turn in my key to the store

YAY MILLER
ugh - the yanks
yanks won?
yes TO
of course they did
yanks 7-4
well im very competitive so there has to be a wager
oops
lets wager on yanks v mets TO
i think theyll both get to the series
not another subway series
ugh - ui really hope not
mets beat us soundly last time, but i haven;t seen muchof either team here..nl city so mets more than yanks i hate the phillies
yes i hope so
well, fiddle. I got trapped in the vortex of homework and missed telling Woulf g'night. oh well. YAY Millerhead!
hi debb. Was the cooler weather nice today?
hi stid!! it was so nice - even sprinkly this morning - it was real weather!!! how're you doing??
well what is this wager?
very good for you -- not a drop. not a dribble. not a dubious mist even! I am waiting for the rains... but it was definitely chilly enough to wear a jacket today!
are the rains coming?
you can have ours i am sick of rain
we need it out here temple - bad fires
They were supposed to be here LAST night... then they said this afternoon.... now they think we might get something tomorrow... *sigh* I put off watering the garden, but will need to go ahead tomorrow unless a miracle happens.
and you know the minute you water ...... it'll start getting cloudy....
yes near you? i
or does that only happen to me?
'zactly, debb! Feeling dumb for not going ahead and watering on Tuesday when I was home all day! LOL
not to close
well usually the mayors of the two cities involved wager something thats a specialty of their respective cities
hi
hi Cisco
lol - i hope the rain does come stid -- we're supposed to get santa ana winds -- winds and fires -- not a good mix
yes i'm acquainted with the custom
hello cisco
oh no! Will keep my fingers crossed for the Santa Anas to stay away from the LA basin and surrounds...
me too stid!
so we could wager a nathans dog against a philly cheese steak
okay, time to change for tomorrow. brb
altho i prefer papaya king dogs
mmmm nathan's - i've never had papaya king
but the wager is?
well maybe we first better see if they both make it
but we could wager that if the yanks win you get a hot dog dinner of your choice
and if the mets win, i get the best philly cheese steak
and debb ..what are you wagering
ok you're on
hmm --
i'll supply the sourkraut/relish/mustard....
sauerkraut
another good wager would be to have the loser have to wear the winners hat at a game next season
oooooh - that would be cruel
and root for that team
i'm buying my brother a "jews for jeter" shirt - he's the black sheep of the family and llikes the yanks
there is really such a thing?!
ren had a yankee hat in hebrew
yes 0 i thought it was funy
i have a met hat in yiddish
I could root for the mets attended many a game since shea is so much easier to get to - as long as it's not vs. the yanks
Good Evening, Everyone -- anyone want to talk about golf?! :)
maybe hers is yiddish too
in a baseball cap - it's basically the same thing
ill talk golf cnan
hi, nan! i want to go to sleep - just stying up for my hair's sake!

not as much as i used to
hi pgr
Big date tomorrow, temple?
i belonged to a great country club for many years
nite ot TO's hair
; )
My problem is that I was too old when I took the game up -- that's my excuse and I'm sticking by it ;)
and maybe we should add face painting to the wager
to
to's hair is wide awake. to unfortunately is barely awake
where do you play cnan
Are you going to wait for the flip temple?
well leave your hair to chat with us and you go to bed
goodenss no! is it that late already? i have already caught hell for one flagrant misstep at work and i had to spennd a few hours undoing it - too much workload for one person . they keep promising me help
I got the fireworks yesterday but today I only have half the words.
At a local club chj -- we are fortunate in that we have 11 courses of varying difficulty for a population of about 150,000. We are members at Kelowna Springs -- google for the website if you are interested.

ive been very fortunate to play at a lot of the great courses
why TO
I used to play putt-putt golf, don't suppose that counts? *grin*
Which ones?
well five or six us open courses for instance
i gave up my golfing partner
If you held a golf club in your hand, it counts :)
:-D Then I count!!! *woo-hoo*
shinnecock, bethpage black, winged foot, olympic, pinehurst no.2
wow! -- impressive! My husband has played St. Andrews Old Course -- I went shopping instead.
theres lots of other golfers out there TO
You must have a really low handicap!
CAMEEEEEEE!!!
and my father stopped playing and my brother got a bbrother in law whoh plays
good swing but needed to work on power - choice of clubs would have helped
the club i belonged to has an lpga event every year
so it's on TV every year
which club is that?
we have commonwealth here supposed to be champoinsip caliber
wykagyl country club in new rochelle
When does the lpga go there?
great course..in fact i like it better than winged foot but it's not long enough for a pga event
well folks, I was trying to stay up for the flip, but feel called to explore dessert and my blog before bed. So I bid you all bon nuit, buona notte, gute nacht, good night!
they used to play the same week as the mens british open...middle of july...but this year they moved it to may
