it was my impression that the people in eastern europe were the 'stomped on' sort - my parents always talked about what a beautiful country poland is & i grew up here witha strong sense of heritage but when i went there is was very disappointed with the people - attitude - outlook on life - of course, when i stayed with relatives it was completely different, warm, accepting, loving

i think the two bow styles come from the fact that the bass is related to both the violin and the gamba family - which is more than anyone may need to know - but who knows, maybe "gamba" will be in the grid one day :)
