It worked pretty well for the Cardinals on Monday night...although the Bears found a way to win with 2 minutes and change left. Or should I say the Cardinals found a way to lose...
that was quite the game
the bears don't need an offense, they have multi-purpose defence
They were showing Dennis Green's tantrum on ESPN the next day, and I didn't realize Chicago had won. I was thinking to myself, "Hmm, for someone whose team won, he sure seems upset..."
I wish there were a g in this grid

dennis green is a prefect example of the problem with affirmative action - blames offensive coordinator for that loss & fires him ---- this all after screwing up majorly with the enormous talent pool he had with the vikings, robbed many of super bowl rings, i believe

I know - 150 is a nice length, this looks daunting especially when words aren't exactly leaping out.
hi fmitch
it goes fairly quickly then comes to a dead halt at leat for me
Think I will have to pass today as I won't have the time or patience for that many wowrds. Hi Taz
I'm going to do it with Lickety's initially to see how far I get. If I get into a tizz like Sunday evening, it'll not matter.

Not from this direction, oggy, sorry!

I have a 7 - si7/36 attaches to a motobike, covered seats. and that is the only 7 I have.

hi marso, bye Haz
bye jai have fun :)
If anyone's interested in recipes, check out Babbler's Anonymous--the Recipe section which is under Other Interests. I just finished putting up a bunch more spice/seasoning/herb mix recipes and about 125 fall/winter soup recipes
so far, the spice recipes are A-G. I'm working on the others and should have them up soon.
Good morning metal. My, you have been busy! Glad to see someone saying they tried and enjoyed a recipe. It's always nice to have feedback, isn't it?
it is indeed. kind of like seeing a child do well in school.
Good analogy, metal.
I was going to put some sauce recipes on but it'll have to wait until after my holiday next week.
hi all!
hi jac :)
hi Fran :)
I love collecting the recipes... they're my way of living/eating vicariously. (my fella is a very plain eater and doesn't tolerate spices well.)
hi Fran
why wait Jac? still sorting them out?
hi marso! hi ml! hi jac!
Hi Fran.
nice flamenco dancer jac!
ooh, i just noticed how many words today!
is it a good one?
it's a whopper today alright... not too sure about the good or bad yet. I'm not that far into it yet.
It'll have to wait, metal, because I don't have the time to type them up on computer before my holiday. (I usually only post my own recipes or ones I have tried.) Not even sure I'll have time to Babble today! Got the weekly shopping to do, a casserole to get going when I get back and the local amateur dramatic society's play to see tonight. Packing tomorrow, etc. LOL
of course i started anyway.
Fran - Thanks re the dancer. I've not committed myself to the grid other than on paper so far.
Hi all - just popping in -haven't had much time to chat this week. My son moved back home last week & have had decorating & 3 upset under 7s to deal with! Life has been a little fraught to say the least! To add insult to injury I looked up at my kitchen ceiling on Monday morning & spotted a suspicious looking stain which provrd to be a leaking bath waste pipe! Still not fixed as our insurers as the gas co. ^ the plumbers are unable to get synchronised! HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
oh no snowy!! i don't even know where to begin!
Aw, poor snowy! ((HUGS))
hi snowy. oh noooo!
LOL I think I may start with a vodka! It's not so bad. My son is away until Sunday so got some time to catch up! How id the muckiest teenager in UK turn into the neatest man you ever met! He's leaning up behind me!
you must have done something right snowy!
cleaning! LOL The R.A.F has certainly improved his housekeeping skills
Most teenagers turn into 'human beans' (sic) in the end!
our theme is a phantom today
The children are settling down too. I think that when they realise that very little will change certainly for the short term they will be better. They are still coming here while their mum is at work.
please say it's the same for stubborn three-year olds jac!
It is Fran! My son had terrible tantrums & was a picky eater until he was 18 -now he still has the occasional tantrum but he eats everything! LOL
Fran - I'm imagining a world of adults with 3-year olds' mentality... hmm... Parliament? Err... I'll shut up! LOL
lol!
Sounds like my husband Jac!
jac we both know they are out there! hopefully my son will be one that outgrows it!
Richard only had tantrums till he was 4! I used to be really worried about him but he has turned into an adult I reslly like - I'm very proud of him
that's great snowy!
snowy - I read your post as 'Richard only had tantrums until his was 41'. LOL
Off to tackle a sink full of dishes now. Have the childrens school Harvest Service this afternoon & then Rainbows so will be black tonight. LOL Jacula! He's 25!
ROFL jac!
Maybe I'd better go and put my new varifocals on? I forgot this morning & optician said to start from new on a morning.
I need a new keyboard or better controlled fingers!

woohoo I'm past the half way point
in+ a trap for animals-a noose-like device, also a trap of any kind can be called this- usually, the word starts with "en"
Thought you should work a bit for the 8 LOL
yes-but it was fun work
that's in 7/28
however did you know that ang?!
are you in the medical/science field?
This is a worry - got jair's clue but cant find it on the grid. Think its nearly time for bed.
inae
hi pida, sorry to be so slow, was lost in the grid
ang, try another "i"
No - found the ending and monkeyed the rest. And I have lots of those nasty pests here and there was scrtching in the ceiling - LOL
have you tried warfarin for the pesky things?(-:
I have the word OK jai - I just couldn't see it!
k
yay, got the ra8/50, thanks angb! i didn't know warfarin was a chemical, i thought you were doing a play on words and ra8/50 was another word for making war in the south!! duh
s ok metal, I think I'ss be lost in the grid a lot today.
fr 6/27 is strawberry color in French...
thanks jai!
With that ending I was trying to do that to mothers!
ce6/21 is also a colour
yw
i tried that too angb
thanks eva!
yw
thnx eva and jai
boy...is my spelling off the wall this morning nowonder I can't find meny words!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
it's funny that Enable doen't have "carne", but has everything around it.... (I'm thinking of chili con carne)
You aren't alone hodag!
it's funny how it allows a bunch of french words but not France
I feel a little better Odin TY
Add another vowel before the last and you get hmmm - a word I don't know what it is. Probably how you pronounce carne.
It doesn't allow proper names...
fu7/48
that ca is a person who works carnivals...
i found it, that is.
Fran - language! please!
lol lynxxx!
coffee break - back soon
be sure to p.t it, Fran for the 8
fran did you make it past tense for the 8?
thanks jai and kth!

G'nite, ang
Aren't you the wrong day though?
that's right, it's thursday here.
'night Ang
sleep tight Angb, it is time for me to start my day.
That crazy dateline!
Tis Thursday here but going into Friday soon.
And it is early Thurday morn here!
so you're actually a whole day ahead!
it is Thur. 6:50 am here.
Yep ... see why I get confused ... never know what day it is and which icon to wear.
yes angb, confusing!
Well, I'm going to try and sleep...have had insomnia all night...but I feel like sleeping now (of course, the sun is going to come up). See you all later!

Fireworks
yay arb!!!!!

WTG ARB !!!!!
it's okay sarj, we all see things sometimes when it comes to the grids! :-)
Fran, I'm not sure, I was looking for a specific pic I saw earlier, and I couldn't resist this one. It fit the theme really well
what is today's theme?
it's great pida! even better if it ended up that way naturally. :-)
Dance
127 to go and I'm stuck, going round in circles lol
i'm at that same point too kth
does anyone have the Us from the top tile?
not i
snarf is not in the dictionary? I use the word daily
lol great word bichon
there is us 6/24 and us 5/12
do you want more help Kthdsn?
yes please arb
us 6/24 -- us + today's theme without the first letter
us r/12 us + 3/4 of another word for tidy
us 5/12, that is
ty I would never have found those!
thanks arb! new ones for me.
what's today's theme?
check my profile bichon
the answer is at 6:00
i'm gonna have to finish tomorrow, good night all!
the theme is creatures from LOR?
Yoikes! Holy Cow! and things of that sort - big grid today - how is it?
bye fran
thanx fran, I thought it was "ents"
no, chacha, salsa and waltz are examples of the theme
bye fran
got it ARB. Ma shlom ech
hi wolvie, the first half was easy enough, but the second half I'm stuck
Hello Wolvie - it's a big grid and looking so unlikely to yield that number of words that I'm doing my words in Lickety's first.
shlomi b'seder bichon
yofi
whoa. Now I am worried. I usually break out lickety for the last few, think I'll break it out early. :-)
Hi wolvie -- dive in, the water's not freezing
I managed without a list for the first 160 words
It's just that I know that I have limited time today and would rather enjoy finding the words I can than fret too much about not finding the hidden ones.
I know that feeling, of trying to get everything in in less than enough time.
okay - will not do list right off - just changed my icon to go with today's theme...
Nice icon, Wolvie, was mine the one that made you think on ents.......
loved yours pida - so kept to my star trek theme - you did inspire me. :-)
You must be a longtime fan of Trek, Wolvie. My daughter just told me which episode your icon was from (the cage). I sure don't remember it......
I am and I do pida. I watched it when if first came out - admittedly, i was in early grade school, but still - I have been a fan for as long as it has been around. :-)
Well, back to the grid. The ur's are killing me
haven't started on those yet - decided to tackle the w's - have fun!
I have 5ur's so far
I am so impressed, that you are so methodical. I am more random, which probably explains why I am rubbish at this!!!!
Everybody has their own way of working. Do what feels comfortable for you.
is that for me spanner? I'm not usually this way - it's just I'm thinking I need to be today. I am also seeing other words and adding them as I go, of course.
I keep trying to find words beginning with that W in the bottom corner oops
The only things that really jump out at me are nonsense words, such as zitty (yesterday) which i still think sHOULD be a word!!!!
I've tried that a bit as well, kth. :-)
spanner keep trying, half the words usually are nonsense!
ooh some more ur's jumped out at me then :)
Anyone need any help before I get on with my other life?
can I have the c's from the bottom tile please?
appreciate the offer ARB, but I have only just gotten started, so I don't know what I need... hmm - maybe the u's from the top?
wolvie there's a us6/24 which sounds like something really annoying beginning with N, but missing a couple of letters
thanks kth - that sounds like the one I was looking for. :-)
the other one is us5/12, us + beginning of tidy
thanks. :-)
Hi ARB, Wolvie and anyone else who arrived while I was off icon hunting
how can snarf not be a word? ;-0
hi metal
ce 5/14 ce + 3/4 of Asian staple food

Hey everyone! Nasty Grid?
Hi lickety - a bit tough, but cool
very nasty, Lickety
hi lickety, it started off well but turned nasty
Hello lickety - reserving judgement, but it's not quite as bad as first feared.
not nasty, but not.... comfy and fluffy either
hi everyone
I'm gonna take a break, catch you all later
morning
hi annie!
bye kth
hi Annie, Dorens, bye kthdsn
The grid is driving me in**** or is it in*****? looks quite easy at first glance, but I'm struggling today.
Hi Dorens
morning annie, se ya later kthdsn, hi Dorens
hi wolvie and dorens, is it as tough as it looks at first
hi pida
a bit tricky today, fishbulb
certainly is
hi pida, metal, wolvie,annie...this isn't promising to be a quickie
not a quickie, not for me anyway
anyone have any clues for the ac 6&7's
not me wurdy, sorry
ace6 - unreturnable tennis serve combined with spanish day.
And plural for ac7
thanks haz!
haz, super clue as usual
You're welcome.
ty vm haz
Good morning Babblers. How is the grid?
thnx Haz, I'm not even working the a's, but I had to take your clue.......
hi scrabbler, not that easy
not my favorite, scrabbler
hey scrabbler - slow -ish for me
Morning, Scrabbler, I don't like it much.......
mornin' Scrabbler, I'm slogging through it slowly
I broke out the list at 86...alot of it had to do with Haz....alothough she doesn't have alot of time today she needs to be speedy...I figured that I would be here all day and never get finished
good morning!
hi charm
plus plugging it all in with 86 is a heck of a lot better than doing it with more...which I hate!
hi charm
hi charm
good morning all!!!
wurdy, I just hit 100 words, and I think I'm going to break out the list as well
Well, I'll dive in and find some words before I leave for work, then return to night. My goal with big grids = 50%.
It's really more that I don't want to start entering the words in the word list and then have to put myself under pressure to finish. Putting them in Lickety's gives you the 'pleasure' of the grid without the pressure of having to finish once you have started.
Hi WOlvie, Annie, Dorens!
hi remluc
hi remluc
hi remluc
hi all how many today please

wander
hi, sandr
arrgghhh - sorry
oh that is ok...I didnt have that one yet
right, with a grid like this I'll take whatever comes my way
TY, sandr--I just found several clues.
i just cant remember to click back on the add word box! sorry
i just cant remember to click back on the add word box! sorry
It happens to all of us, and all you can do is apologize and laugh. The really funny part is when you enter a non-word that is ridiculous and you end up embarrassed.
Good Evening Everyone
Howdy Tiny.
hi tiny
hi tiny
made 100 and now may be late for work....see you much later
Hi, Tiny

Good morning metal
don't let my icon fool you guys...my tigers are dancing their way to the pennat
okay - who has a list up and running? how many a's? i have 23
maybe that is my problem, I cant spell
Go Tigers! Detroit deserves a championship team.
39 sandr
38 a's arrrggghhhh
wurdy, they won the pennant--they beat the Yankees (*sob) and they are on their way to the World Series
ok I cant count or spell too much time with my kids i suppose
usar
I agree scrabbler - the last time they won, I lived in Michigan ( I was born there way before that!!)
Oh, my monkey did that. I would have never typed in that kind of word.
I know anniebrook..I am so excited! I used to go watch them with my dad back in the hey day...good memories
In the 70's I was a big baseball fan, mostly of the Reds and Johnny Bench, so I remember Sparky and the others.
Tonight is the deciding game for the National League ---I was not happy when the Tigers beat the Yankees (long time fan) but the Tigers deserve the Series...go Tigers!
I was extremely happy when they beat the yankees! we do want to play the mets though
Tigers vs. Mets would be a great series...hope it happens! have a doctor's appt. see you all later'
Bye Annie.
bye
bye annie - hope you are okay
bye Annie
bye annie
Bye Annie
anyone have that other a 6 &7?
Ah well, I am resigned to the fact that this is another grid that I will not complete
hi ExWren
au6/18 = pl of the stadium?
Scrabbler, was just reading the chat ... Our whole family were Reds fans in the 70's, seems like we spent most of the days at the ball park. I really like Johnny Bench, too. But those days are long gone. We still attend some games but not like we did growing up.
Hi Mom, ExWren
morning metal
Hi Mom
and everyone else
Hi, Mom
wurdy, the ac 6 starts like the ac 4/6 before it - but uses a hump consonant, then 1st vowel, then another consonant
hi mom - I love the icon.
Tony Perez, Don Gullett, Pete Rose, Bobby Tolan, ....I subscribed to Sports Illustrated for the 1st time in 7th grade. I played catcher in high school softball because I wanted to be like Johnny Bench.
This is my last grid for the next week, so I would have liked to finish with a flourish. We leave tomorrow morning for the North East - three days in Southport and four days in Blackpool
the ac 7 /32 - put an a in front of dried cranberries
he was an excellent catcher. I am sure you were a great catcher as well. Those were some great baseball years.
thank you wolvie
Exwren, I do hope you will finish. You will be missed while you are away
y/w
HAve a great trip, ExWren! Traveling is always fun.
my last one too, ExWren - I am off to Toronto tomorrow morning for the weekend
Travel safely ExWren, and bring us souvenirs
well, play time is over. :( always enjoy reading the chat. I'll be back later. Everyone have a great day.
bye Mom
Bye Mom.
Scrabbler, Annie, another Tiger fan here. I was born and raised in Detroit and with the Tigers.....love the Tiger icon....go team!!!!!
time for me to set the alarm clock and commence snoring. it's well past daylight and I must herd the boyfriend and the cat toward slumber. Happy Babbling All, have a wonderful arbitrary time unit designation of your choosing and check out the new recipes on BabAnon
Wolvie--I am still trying to figure out your 7:19 clue for another set of ac6 + 7--more help, please.
Sweet dreams, Metal.
bye metal
ooops, Wurdy, love the icon
ac 6 /21: ac +not out but i*,+ you exist minus the last letter
thanks Nancy
ac 7/32: a in front of dried cranberries - similar to dried grapes
just missing one i
Got them both now. TY
y/w
I would love to see a Mets, Tigers series, guess we will know after today.....
If the Tiger pitching is like the last two series, no way that anyone will beat them......
bless you wolvie...I have hair in clumps sitting around the puter
Nancy..Kenny Rogers is awesome...He knows when to hold em and knows when to fold em
LOL
and you bless me for this? wow. ;-0
the whole tiger pitching is awesome and deep...not one of them blow
Wurdy, Yes, he has funneled all that anger into showing some positive emotion...and I am really looking forward to watching all the pitchers in action.
wouldnt you be angry if lucielle left you with four hundred children (I used to think those were the words) plus, just when you get over lucielle, ruby starts taking her love to town
lol....yes, I guess I would be
you know he has never heard that before who names their kid that?
maybe someone who loves the singer Kenny so much.
LOL wurdygurl!! Mangled lyrics -- always fun! I interviewed Kenny one time when I worked in radio. Really charming fellow. He can't project though -- everything he sings has to be micced up.
Hey I'm back for some more
I grew up on him...my mother loved him
ch, however, he has had so many facelifts, he no longer resembles the original Kenny. I saw him on some show recently and he looks terrible.
hi kth
I worked in radio during his first major comeback, in the 80's. But I remember him with the Edition in the 70's.
I agree, Nancy. He was still the Silver Fox when I met him.
Yes, he was cool then
ch1212 I mangle all lyrics..I was in college once talking with this really cute guy in a band...we were at a party and the band had just finished playing an ozzy tune when I said "that song is really good but why do you sing about dog food?" yeah, the song was crazy train...that ended that
HAH!! LOL! That is great!
i have become something of a legend
wow wurdy, I can relate. Those rock band lyrics are not easy to decipher....
oh my wurdy - lol
guns and roses...thought it was tke me down to the very last city...I actually asked my husband where that wa
LOL - stop stop!!
fun times this morning
pathetic arent I
not pathetic, very amusing and entertaining
yeah I like to think it is part of my chrm
no no - amusing wurdy
Remember "Nobody's gonna break my stride"?.....I still tease my daughter about her singing "Nobody's gonna break my spine".
yup, girl after my own heart
LOL Chiley!
Wurdy, are you going to keep the Tiger icon through the series,,,,,I hope, I hope
It will be a good luck charm in the babble community
there is this christian hymn about the jericho road...I was a teenager (this is embarrasing) I loved that song. I would sing it at the top of my lungs once, the congration actually all stopped singing and started laughing..I thought it was the geritol road
yes, this icon is staying
Hooray......
LOL -- 'geritol road' !
still haven't lived that down
coffee now on puter screen...
seems you have been an entertainer for a long time now..with your singing abilities...
it is better to start the day with a guffaw
hehe, I'm laughing too. My husband used to sing about "There is a bomb in Gilead"...that's what they thought is was as kids
I don't have a tin ear....i have a mangled ear
Lets hope we can continue to guffaw through next week.....
Well, it's really hard to understand the words sometimes! I have a friend who thought the Who were singing about the Teenage Waistband
cant get to cocky but I am confident tht our support will guide them
good afternoon everybody:)
I have a de8, ra8, and in8...what am I missing please?
amen to that.....
I did too Inge...I thought it was an anthem for a diet company
fu8, Grace
fu8
haha, wurdy!
hi Jean
Hi grace
doh! thx... for that and I had the fu7 already too!
I dont have any of the 8's pls share...I have paid for the clues in laughter this morning
LAst night I was playing REM's, "Shiny, Happy People" and it reminded me that one of my nephews sang it as "Chinese Happy People."
in8 and de8... to make bigger and smaller.
fu7 and 8 are the the boiler thing that heats your home and past tense
That's a great one, scrabbler!
scrabbler...now I have coffee on my puter screen
LOL - scrabbler - now I have even more coffee on my screen
this chat's one for the books
Once I had my nephews at Mass, and the priest said, "This is the gospel according to Luke." And the 4 yr old shouted, "Luke Skywalker!"
;-)
that is cute
ROFL!!
"USE THE FORCE!"
I am a pediatrician so I hear hilarious things from kids on a daily basis. When I asked a 3 yr old boy about his soon-to be born baby sibling, and what he wanted to namel the baby, he replied, "I don't care, YOU can have the baby."
funny lol
oh my
Oh Scrabbler! You could write a book ala Ark Linkletter!
sure that's what we all want to say, lol
I sure could.
just to break in - anyone have a clue for the last ar 6? after the stadiums?
I was in the grocery store once with my then 2 year old. He was in love with trucks. There was a rather large woman in front of us in the line and her beeper went off. My son started to freak out screaming move move shes backing up...thankfully she had a good sense of humor and is now a good friend
ROFLMAO!
Funny!
sorry wolvie...I dont...I am not even there yet
ar is an old-fashioned remedy
monkey around the center
ROFLOL!!! Great story. Check-out line experiences are always embarrassing. Once, one of my nephews was helping me move items from the cart to the table and, as he placed my feminine products on the table, he said quite loudly, "And here are your lady diapers, Aunt Lynda."
rhymes with another word for mouthorgan
LOLOLOL thatis hysterical
thanks hootowl - got it. :-)
thati s beautiful
Another good one from one of the boys: "Boys have a pe--- and girls have a virginia."
hehehehe
!!!
I suppose I should be searching for words, huh?
whew - finished the a's
I just started looking again myself
OK, Babblers, I have to get ready for work. have a great day. I will return tonight.

ty wolvie - and thanks for the af!
hi all - oh dear a big one

hi ursh
hi ursh
meant to say TY!
these Us have me stumped.
they are terrible, grace - that is for sure
I've only got one U so far!!
be back in mo
thinking of the planet will apparently help with lots - not that I can find them!
lynx, that's what I keep thinking, but it does me noooo good.
I have 4 of the planet ones
grace, I only have 3 of the ur's
wow kth - good going
us5.12 us + close but drop last letter
found 1!!
Scrabbler and Wurdy, when my daughter was very little, we were in the checkout line at the grocery and she saw a tall African American man with a huge fro and proclaimed loudly, "Look Mommy, A CLOWN!"
they share the first 4 letters and all have pretty standard word endings
oh my, une - lol
oh no
I wanted the ground to just swallow me up
found 2 - obviously, this is going to take a bit
are 'the planet ones' ur words?
I wish there was a list of words I've already tried, I'm sure I keep repeating myself
the 3 I have are based on the first 4 letters of the planet, Van
yes van they are
wolvie can you hint out the two ar 6/21's pls
I've got ur6/24, 5/12, 4/5...
I understand, thank you
I wish that too kthdsn
first one - old stuff, or ar + ca 4
thanks
second one ar plus first 3 letters of another word for kind, then first vowel
does anyone know how many of the ur's are planet based?
for the ur's I have ur 6/21, 7/32, 6/24, 4/5, 5/12, 4/5
ah and ur4 and 5 having to do with pee...
wolvie I've got all those plus a 7/36
can you clue the U7s please?
looks like 8 maybe, kth - clue for the 7/36 please?
first u7 is the 6/21 plural
planet + beware the * of march
grrr...
same four letters + the last 3 letters of a laundry soap
thanks kth
that worked kth
well, got to go w/170 done. thx for the help!
bye grace
bye grace
don't think monkeys like planets, can't find anymore
the first 2 ur's are based on alt spelling of Pi** - swap the last 2 letters, then add another vowel, then plural
sorry wolvie that made no sense to me..
oh I caught up
4 letter spelling for a body excretion is ur**. reverse the last 2 letter.. good
another 2 I just found: ur plus ea4/4
and u+ra4/4
mornin babblers!

ac6/21 - ac plus the last part of the currency di5/12
ac + opp of out + to be minus last vowel
thanks
ty haz got 2 words from that clue
I'm good at giving bargains like that!
i got nothing from that clue - my brain is not set to babblemode today at all :(
not that it wasn't a good clue, but i'm rubbish at this today
Do you want me to try again, Fishbulb?
hehe... its ok haz, i'll try and monkey it - understood the first bit ac + opp of out but didn't get the + to be minus last vowel.
good afternoon again:)
to be - last vowel I am you ***
fish - think the meal after lunch only spelled differently
The last bit is the first two letters of Mr Garfunkel's first name.
good afternoon, jean - you've gone all professional on us!
hi jean
lol I certainly have Haz thought it was about time:)
And you've got a picture and everything. Are you finding the tile stats a help?
yes most certainly Haz, I think when we had the free trial and then they went that spurred me into going pro.
weeee got it - thanks guys x
lol wd fish :D
Sorry - was on the phone. Yes, I think there's something very satisfying about seeing those tiles going grey.
can I get a clue for the ca 6/24 pls
nm just found it
think burnt ashes wurdy
There is Haz, I must confess I was going to pro ages ago but had a problem with my computer so when I was at work last night I processed it then:)
d/n find it found something else...burnt ashes?
ca6/24 - disease (think of yesterday's icon theme regarding its awareness)
ty
ty haz another one I needed
rofl I miss read that wurdy sorry, I thought you said ci6/24 doh
it's ok jean, still appreciate the help
ac 7/32?
cauz - do you have the ac 6/24? if so then plural
ac7/32 - begin with the first three letters of the land measurement 9ac4/5), add a vowel and then biblical wrongdoing
ac = high/low card + day in spanish drop the last letter for the 6
sorry just clued the wrong one
i'll shut up now
thanks
no wurdy don't shut up I needed that one!
brilliant clue Haz thanx I jumped on the bandwagon with that one
ok, as long as i am useful
tytyty!
hi everyone. thanks for all the great clues today
wow look at the time already, 40 mins to go and still 76 words short
hi abe
third au 5/12?
ok gotta run my sons arrived for a quick cuppa bbl have a good day everyone:)
hi kthdsn, meaty grid today!
I need the last ca 5/12 please
later Jean
starts the same as above then add 2nd vowel and then 3rd vowel
the last ca5/12 I have is shortened ca6/21
thanks
last ca 5/12 is plural of the 4/6
Last one should be plural of previous 6/21
4/5 rather
duh...thanks and fish pls
yup - sorry. Loused up my own system!
This is not going to be pretty ..
i also need the third au 5/12 please and hello today
hello again babblers!
The third au4/5 begins like the others but ends in two vowels.
aurinid
hi torgone, magzel, evanadine
here we go again! *&%^&^$^%#
Hello torgone - I feared the worst this morning when I saw the grid. It's twisted.
abe -- i have a copy of that painting on my wall -- love the degas!
Twisted . . .swell . . .
The third au5/12 I should have said.
whats the other E from the bottom tile, I've got a colour
But with your experience, torgone, you can unravel it.
evanadine- i do too! i had trouble picking out my favorite for today's icon
thanks haz
second cr 6/21?
me too abe -- i decided to go non-degas this time... today im all about the howard schatz. :)
The second e from that tile is the proper term for heather - another woman's name
it's an er kt
The second cr6/21 is rendered obsolete by an iron
thanks
it's a beautiful photo, evanadine
ty haz
Glad to help.
can't get the er, and if that's the 2nd cr6/21 then what is the first?
firat is brain case
The first cr6/21 is latin plural skull, and the woman's name is a feminine version of Mr Clapton
ty haz
narea
thanks Haz
abe -- you should look him up...i discovered him doing a project on him back in college... he has this whole underwater series which is just breathtaking
You're welcome - hello abe, by the way!
underwater? i'm going to look him up right now! Hi Haz :)
how about the big des? either of the de 7/36s?
cauz you seem to be missing the same ones as me today
de7/36 - can either be plural edicts (de6/24)
evanadine- those underwater pics are wonderful
or de7/36 - as with the preceding de6/24 - but with a vowel inserted within the word
all of his work is breathtaking, but i tend to be most fond of the dance + underwaters series...
Good morning, ea5/10 the last one is driving me crazy, I even went to a2z and it wasn't there. Please help
de8/50 just gets smaller and less wrinkled
if you go to his webpage + look under "works in progress" hes got a really beautiful series focusing on pregnancy too
the colors are so vivid, i like the one with the clowns.
ea4/10 - plural French waters. Think of perfume (*** de cologne or toilette and tack a high scoring letter on the end)
thanks for the Ds
Is anyone using IE 7.0 yet? If so, is Babble okay?
OH I have been looking for ea5/10. Thanks Got it
So a2z is exonerated!
either of the en 6/21s?
en6/21 - en plus a vowel followed by a nervous twitch
looks at dr god. ie 7? hah. i refuse to use ie6! lol
don't think so
en6/21 - en plus the beginning of what you do with water, beer, etc.
mornin, Dr God
hello! how is the grid today. hi, God.
rias
heard there's already a security hole in ie7.
nice T shirt, god!
don't know what i'm using, dr., as my computer magically updates itself (which I hate), but things look fine.
I guess if no one has had problems, I'm guessing Babble is fine under IE 7. My fingers are crossed...
thanks
makes it tough to type w/crossed fingers ;)
dr god I heard that windows update won't send out ie7 until early next month, you might want to ask again then
Dr is there a final list of words found every day?
Cherrypop - if you look in the archives for any particular day, find the players at the top of the list, click on any of their profiles and a word list will appear.
Cherrypop- There is a link at the very top of an archived puzzle that lists all the words for that puzzle.
Thanks Haz
kthdsn- Good point. I'll ask again when it makes its way into Windows Update.
Great game! Best since Upwords! Thanks Dr
dr. God - you should make this into a book like those sodoku books...that way I can take them during my running around
I've never been able to see the archives properly
I click the date for a particular puzzle and Firefox gets an error
I don't think I'll have a problem with EI7, I'm still using Windows 98
lol pida thats funny
VanTheMan- Those are large, long pages, so I can see either a slower computer or a slower internet connection causing the page to crap out.
using IE7 right now. works fine.
:)
Afternoon all - still can't have my cran of herrings I see
Hello spellit - it's been a while! How are you?
Babies drive in England? Cute pic
OK Hazel - off on Sat for family holiday in Derbys - just the 19 of us!
Hi spellit - Millie is beautiful. Hope your wife is doing well.
spellit! nice to see you!
My wife starts her chemotherapy the day after we come back
I see, thanks Dr. God
Have a great time - and don't offer to pay for too many meals out! I've been wondering how you and your wife were getting along.
All scans seem clear after her op but she still has to go through chemo and radiotherapy
On my prayer list spellit
That probably won't be pleasant but at least you can be a big support to her. We'll be thinking about you.
Thanks Hazel - much appreciated
Thanks too cherrypop - prayer has been vital
hurrah for clear scans; boo for tx that can be awful but necessary.
best wishes to her, spellit, make sure you buy her some of the good kind of popsicles ;)
And now I must wish you all happy babbling - dog walk time. Bye for now.
Bye Hazel
time for me to go, be back later to finish
see ya enjoy your walkies!
is there only the one word that uses the X?
That's one more than I've found
need 3 frs...first fr 6/27, first fr 5/18, last fr 5/16
spellit -- plural of french water
Of course - thanks evanadine
fr 6.27: french for strawberry
bye Haz and kthhsn
cauzneffct - love the icon. My hubbie has "Wrigley" on his license plates.
got the strawberry one...theres a 6/27 before that
thanks remluc...it aint easy being a Cubs fan these days. Well or any days in the last 98 years
cauzneffct - try living with one! I think it's worse than actually being one! ha ha. At least he has his Bears although monday was quite stressful. :)
Cubs fans never die, no matter what happens with the team
forgive me, rem, but why can't you wear crocs on escalators?
but at least we got da Bears
raelite - they had some news report on Good Morning America that they can get "sucked"into the sides of the stairs - some little girl got injured.
I think she might have lost her whole toe.
oh...so my dad's size 12 clodhoppers should be ok...good to know!
raelite - I would think so. :) But it's better to be safe than sorry - so I'm glad you can pass on the warning. :)
lol...he wears those ugly things everywhere....
thanks for the warning remluc. i love my crocs, though they are homely
my dad does too! He actually wore out a pair and had to buy new ones.
oh no! I hope that dfoesn't happen....his are wearing out quickly...
I'm worried he might get psychedellic orange ones
celebrity chef Mario Batali is always photographed in his bright orange crocs
The orange ones are terrible! :) My dad wears the "stylish" tan ones. (my dad's an accountant so I use the term "stylish" loosely. I love giving him a bad time)
my mom has red ones ( i bought them, per her request) and she calls them her "clown s hoes"
rofl...my dad's are khaki green. I can't decide if it's a step up, down, or paralell to the birkenstocks he used to wear though
hmmm, i hadn't thought about that- the birkenstocks vs crocs issue...
ce5/14pls
ce + first three letters of Asian food
thank you
thanks ch1212
y/w
do you plural that somehow for the 6?
no. the 6 is ce + what the sun does each a.m.
again, I thank you
the way I see it is the birks made his toes visible (bad) but the crocs are just so big ... so where is the line, you know?
going out to garden....bbl unless it rains
hello rae! haven't seen you for a few days. hi all! how's the grid today?
hi stid :) are you enjoying the rain?
bye Wurdy. hi Stidmama
it's been lovely, rae! the air is a "full" color this morning -- you know how the yellow and orange leaves reflect back off the moisture in the air, and the clouds hold it all in? totally gorgeous.
ac 6/21 please?
rae - at least crocs can be "hosed" off to clean them up. Plus, my dad insists on wearing socks with sandals, so the Crocs are much better in that sense too. :)
it is pretty....very foggy this morning though, my ddrive to work was downright trecherous! it was a real pea-souper!
ac + opp of out + first to letters of to be
ok, I think you're rght, rem
i admit to wearing socs with crocs, but they can be hidden easier than with Birks
ch, you're a doll! thanks for all these words!
*how about socks
maybe they should make croc socs...
:) Just returning the favors, stidmama!
it gets that way here sometimes, but usually in the evening. Something about the way the air moves on the water.
they could be the same colour as the crocs
that was so poetic, stid
the color of the socs would match the crocs
LOL raelite, i think we have a great idea!
we're gonna be rich!!!!!!!
I think all croc socks should be neon orange. :)
ha. got an ra 6 on my own!
yay stid!!
Hi everybody. How y'all doing today?
the "Mario Batali" crocs socs
hi msree -- coping... you?
Hi msree
the same
gorgeous icon, btw, wasn't familiar with Zoffany -- how did you find him?
I bought the painting from an artist that worked with him.
Ty for the clue ch 1212
bbl -- have to go get mail
Abe - that's perfect. Celebrity endorsements always boost sales.
wow. way very cool! I like it!
later ch!
ok so we need a celebrity who likes wearing crocs.
later Ch. Now, to get Mario on board...
thanks stid. Tell the truth, can you do the Castle Walk?
bye ch.
too bad we couldn't do a croc soc saved by the bell reunion ad campaign...
no. I learned it once, but that was over 20 years ago.
LOL- "Belding Blue" crocs socs
good morning all.
hi smazing
Personally, I dance like Ally Sheedy's character in the Breakfast Club. A little spastic, but I have fun.
hi smazing!
yes...lol...but we couldn't have Jesse or Screech because they've ruined their reputations
morning smazing
Is it raining cats and dogs there stidmama. I thought I was going to be washed away last night.
Hello msree!
Raelite- v. true
Hi Abe79
I used to love dancing, but Tom doesn't really know how. We tried to take a class when the kids were little, but not enough places to practice in the small apartment.
hey, get out of here, Screech, this is a family ad!
I would love to learn to tango
not at the moment, smazing -- I can tell it did something overnight, but the dogs come in dry on top, so I know it's been a while. Not even dripping off the trees now.
me too mab
Great icon, Mab
tango is hard -- I learned both types, but have to rely on a good partner to get the rhythm right for me.
I am covered from head to toe with bruises today. I spent the last few days helping my boyfriend put insulation in the airplane hanger. I stupidly volunteered to go up in the rafters and do it!!! But it is done! Yeah
LOL -- I see the pink flamingo in the log, and then it switched to the lovely dancer in profile! what a transition!
I have been thinking of taking a latin class this winter. I have to left feet though!
That should be 'two' left feet!
good for you smazing! the hangar will be much more comfortable for the plane now... rofl
smazing, don't worry about the feet - take the class.
Yes, got to keep Ginger cozy this winte!!!
smazing, your boyfriend has a hangar? how exotic. is he goingto live in it?
Do it, smazing -- even if you don't feel like it, you will learn so much and find that it gets easier and easier (not all latin dances are crazy difficult -- chacha is fun and easy!)
I don't know yet! He hasn't been in the dog house yet!!!
I just might. I finally landed a job, so now i will have some extra funds to play with.
so, i *FINALLY* loaded some pictures of my new nephew!! please let me know if the link doesnt work. :) http://new.photos.yahoo.com/album? c=evanadine&aid=576460762326671196&pid =&wtok=9yFetkHXTlj3VNglT5lYkg--&ts=116 1271336&.src=ph#page1
Congratulations Auntie!!!
thanks smazing. :)
brb looking at pics
not many to look at just yet, but you guys know ill have more up there as soon as i can...hehe
WOW! he's adorable -- and you look rather pleased...
how's the mother doing? he looks like a nice size -- not too big or too small.
yeah, im a sucker for cute babies. ;)
especially when there in your own family and you get to spoil them!!!!
how's his big brother taking it so far?
I will have to wait until my nieces and nephews start having babies.
shes doing well -- had a c-section again this time. wasnt feeling so great while the anesthesia was wearing off, but i think shes supposed to be coming home today...
well i am off to do chores and then I am having a lump aspirated today. Oooh, sounds like fun! Later all.
I hate anesthesia -- the docs always get it wrong for me -- wrong type (allergic to some) or too much. hope she gets to go home.
i dont think Sid has realized it yet...right now, hes been hanging out with grandma + grandpa...hes only 1 1/2, so i think hes too young to really understand that hes got a little brother now...
later smazing -- hope you're okay.
Evanadine- he's SO SWEET
thanks, i'm find. ciao!
that's pretty young! I was 19 mos when my bro was born. Asked my grandmother when he was going home...
bye smazing
Evandine, he's beautiful. What's his name?
Patrick (still deciding on a middle name)
duh, it's right there on the pic
;)
Good luck, Smazing.
hi Ankh! when did you arrive?
hi all - ashamed to say just working through the list leave me with exactly 100 left - dog dinner time back later for clues and clue hi-jacking
hi Ursh
Hello, Stid, just got here, but not really here, running around doing other things, just add a word now and then! :)

Her punctuation needs work ..
Stop beating her bunny!!!LOL
YW majmom and Charm
Ah, come on, I almost had blood drawn. We have an old computer I let them play games on, her sister was on it, so I guess she figured she'd take over mine!

f + what sun did this morning
ty ch1212
sorry ch12 - i lied- it's a word relating to the 7th planet. but it looks like it could be what I said.
i think thats the second fr 6/27....french for strawberry. or am i off my rocker?
thanks, Fiz -- it's the ur6/24 (first one) right?
Fiz-- I got to the ur 6 (through the 4 and 5) from your clue!
cauz extend fr4/7 with a negative word but change the vowel
cauz, I only have one fr6/27 and that clue could well be for the second ... they are right together. Sorry
has anyone had trouble with bj's list today? lke it did not match the words in the grid?
hi Charm! didn't see you there, so engrossed was I in the words related to "pee"!
oui, oui, ch1212. (pun intended)
mp wprroes
or no worries
it's ok, stid. I tend to wander away from the computer quietly myself....

Bye TheFiz

Those u's were ugly.
this grid is hard. I want to reach 100 words without the list, but might break down.
af 6/30?
you can do it stid -- i have 128 so far!
I brought out the list earlier than I normally would, with 80 left to find.
nm found it
af 6/30 - to be scared
af6 = scared?
majmom you are not scared of it
Be af****. Be very af****
is that the 5 second rule? ask and find it right away lol
Oh i see DrG knew i was playing today ..wi4/8
majmom -- i think it is! happens to me ALL the time!
LOL Cait
well, need to take a break. Kid is home from school and hasn't emerged from his room yet. (not sick, just our little bit of civil disobedience regarding test practices at our school)
Bye Stid
anyway .... back later to stare at the screen some more. *poof*
bye stid
Hi stid, bunny and everyone. Anyone got clue for last fr word, the fr5/18?

Hi Hydra
Of course! Many thankyous, bunny. Got the french currency thanks, ursh.
Hello Caitlyn. Is it raining in Wales? It is in London. Just like April showers.
Finished with the ra 8/50, large rodents with a death wish, what a word.
???
It rained really heavy last night and early morning but showers now hydra
may i have a clue for the fr 6/27? i have the strawberry. thanks!
????
thanks for the clue bunny!

I mean 'tack' not take
Ha! I get it . .
aw come on , bunny! share please? clues not getting in!

: D
Tor, have you done teh Sudoku grid yet? Is it bad?
isn't fraticide to kill your brother?
clue please for ac6/21
can anyone help with si6/24
Duuno, but since frat means paternal, can it apply to father-in-law?
webs -- i think the word is actually fratricide
just to be difficult, osmspelled fratricide?
I started it .. but i'm stuck now .. I get stuck easily though . .
like the nature religion wi**** except with an si
ac 6/21 - ac + opp of out + a bend (**ch)
sorry, isn't it spelled .... (new computer and not used to the keyboard yet)
"fratricide" is to kill your brother
learn something new every day.
and apologies to any wi****s if my shorthand description is grossly inaccurate
ty
i have no clue ch1212
What is it called when you kill your sister
wi?????
ok ... si + double consonant + first vowel + n
sororicide ????
thanks
(my guess would be that sisters are SOOO beloved, they are killed less often than pesky, overbearing brothers)
Unless it is a sister in law....
sorry never heard of the wi****s
Can you tell I don't get along with my in laws?
how about in-laws?
sorry, bunny!
chj, they call themselves witches as well.
LOL Charm How about daughter in law?
It's okay, chj -- I took a World Religions class and the instructor was one

Bye to
Bye TO
How is renew not a word??
You can't get it from the grid.
letters are in the wrong place, tmcs
tmcs, it doesn't quite hook up letter wise
Oh. Duh. That might explain it. <blushing>
But as long as you're in the re section, could you start me off with the first re6/21 please?
re 6/21 - re + spanish for day, plural
re6/21 = re + walking stick (not sure if it's the 1st)
I'm not that organized. I find them randomly . . .
ch1212 to beat again with a stick
Sorry, that is the third (but the second is the same with the latin ending).
got those, caitlyn and bunny ... looking for the first re6/21
That is the 1st re 6/21
oh ... okay :) tanks, caitlyn!
and thanks, too
The first one is the beat iwth a stick, the second and third are re + spanish day, the fourth is r + opp of starter
The next one is re5/12 + a vowel
iyaa
thank you thank you thank you!
No problem
ch1212 were u sayin dat to me?

OK supper wont get itself ready (b..) see you all tomorrow..bye
Ooh, I don't suppose anyone has any hardy water lillies for a pond they would be willing to part with? I'm having the hardest time getting them in anything but seed form and I'm not ready to try growing from seed yet.
ye Cait
HELLO, ALL!
Hello klaurel
hey, klaurel
hi, klaurel
see ya later cait
the last ca6 please?
bye cait & ch1212. Hi klaurel
ca 6 - builds off of the ca 4/5 before it, like a worker at a traveling fair
bunny, I thought that's what it must be, but it's not accepting. thanks. will try again later.
anyone watch the Top Chef premiere?
Ends in two vowels, uses the "n" in the second row, not the third
klaurel, meant to, but fell asleep. lol
thanks bunny! must still be half alseep....
Watching it on TiVo and wanted to know if it was as good as Season 1, or did they go for cute and hot and snipeness versus good chefs (loike so many other reality shows, like Apprentice)
I've never seen it, but I like to watch Ace of Cakes on the food network (and Top Model, but don't repeat that!).
Only watched the 1st season of Apprentice. couldn't see any potential after that.... Did watch Project Runway this season, though. Oh, the cattiness....
Ever seen Bridezilla? It makes me ashamed to be a woman.
Bridezilla is one of the shows that I would gladly slap one of those brides.
oh, gosh, no! I had enough of that this year with my sis-in-law getting married and I only heard from his mom!
Of course, I can;t stand my sis in law
I'm gonna scat to Sudoku unless anyone needs another clue?
Those women have no sense of proportion or reality or priorities. jeez
bye bunny. thanks for the clues.
klaurel, I'm just starting to get along with mine after 12 years.
Bye now.
I have been married to my husband for 13 years and we have been together for 19 and we have two kids and she STILL snipes at me and LOVES my brother, but treats teh rest of us like chaf
including my kids (her neice and nephew)
I'm actually keeping notes in a book of what NOT to do when my son grows up and gets married and I find myself the out-law.
<LOL>
Charm, you are funny but it might be a good idea to do
Charm, do you have a daughter?
One son. (and he's convinced me that he's enough!)
My husband's loving mother actually told me she wants him to move back home with her. (of course, he supports her in EVERYthing, so it's useless speaking my mind)
My daughter has 2 wonderful boys and I feel that she will be the mother in law...and I had told her to be loving to her mother in law. It is kind of crummy to be the mother in law even to a son in law but mine is okay
I have a son and a princess . . . I mean daughter
Charm, tell your mother in law that the family travels with your husband...some mother in laws do stink
*mothers in law
Oh, heaven, no. She'd expect me to move in and then she'd control my life entirely!
my aunt;s mother in law is a doosy
Charm, she has nerve!
Ick, Charm!
Ok. I'm depressed now. going to make a cup of tea and eat lots of cheesecake and come back for the last 63. brb
:( SORRY Charn!
Charm, dont feel that way, you are giving her too much power
do what my aunt did! My mom - in law was living with her and she kicked HER out of the house. :)
how many words all?
283 Go

hi all
Heya TNC

arecahey tea

hi Tea
Be af6/30 . . .Be very af6/30 . .
hi all , back to see if I can finish this grid
ok, i have a "wish" icon (i hope tea is up to date or i have the wrong theme)
theme, as it was told to me, is dance. :-)
rats
hey - I like your icon anyway, hursh. keep it. :-)
It could be a dancing doggy . .
oh, tea is so out of date - I should fix that - sorry!
hey - no problems, tea - it's no big deal. :-)
ewvening everybody:)
hi Jean
hi jean
hi all, can someone clue the in8?
lol mean't evening
in8/45 - to make greater, or possible to wrinke!
afternoon babblers!
actually i do believe wishbone danced in the pride and prejudice episode.
hi evan
hi vic
what kind of word is sn 4/8. How bizarre
Hello, Wolvie, and everyone else.
hi Vicuna
It's another wee Scottishism.
afternoon everybody!!
hi charm!
ahhh - Scots
hello vicuna
hello charm
Hi, Wolvie.
that reminds me of that joke about the snewman
Hi, Vic, jean
Hello, Annie. Hello, jean.
Hello, Charm. Hello, Hello, to you and you and yoo-hoo!
Well, are you going to tell us about the snewman, or not, hurshy?
so what't the joke about the snewman
(someone has to say "what's a snewman?")
Okay, I'll do it. What's a snewman?
what's a snewman????????
not much, what's a-snew with you?
:)
*groan!*
snew
hey, i took it from one of the masters of modern comedy
Ouch ..
a snewman is what you make after it snew
hurshy, give it back, lol
oh those little scots...;-0
lol, Annie!
mr. fozzie bear
they spelled it wrong!!
he was doing a routine with a snowman at the time, so it fit better.
Wokka wokka.
(I think maybe "wocka" looks better.)
:)
What do you get when you cross an elephant with a rhino?
'ell if i know!
I don't think you want to be around either one when they're cross!
what, tor?
See hurshy-the-punchline-stealer's answer . .
Ooohhh...
oh... sorry :(
Usually we call a "stealer" a "thief".
S'okay ..that was a gimme . .
let's do more words where you spell 'em however the heck you want. i'm having a suaree this evening, who wants to come?
Yes, I deciar to come!
hursh, only if i can snarf some food
My boss is calling. I have to see what he wance ..
Yay for "snarf", smaller!
Tor, did you find out what he wanid?
lol, i have tried it way too many times
anyone got any rasins?
yeah, tor, wasi want?
no rasins, gives me diarau
I was trying to argue for snarf the other day, and met with an unenthusiastic reception.
yay snarf
Ha! I would have suported you, vic - I don't see why that's not a word... ;-)
How about candi?
*supported
mmm, i'll taic some candi!
I'm going to put my fut up his arce . .
sure, why not?
Obviously it was just the wrong crowd on when it came up last time! :)
(it's ok wolvie, we're playing the enable game, so spelling things alternative ways is ok)
vic, definitely!
LOL - thanks hurshy - I feel much better
Candi is farnewae my favorite!
icanseewi
i wish i could turn on a candi faucit
okay guys - someday I will learn to type. ;-0
lol!
ucan
That would be utterly disgusting!
forget ucan--ng
and drinc fur an ewer from the candi faucit
LOL - too much
well they do have those chocolate fondue fountains
NOOO, you used REAl word!!!
they are very fanci
oops! i even had it LOLOLOLOL
clue for the first se 6/21 please? I'm sure I'll also need fish...
i wasn't going to point that out, but vi is known for her cander
when you see dead people, wolvie
That's me!
(The cander, i mean, not the dead-people-seeing.)
Though I try not to be too rewd.
i have to go uranait. bye people.
bye smaller
Iwen on a ture ..
lol, seea smaller!
wair did you go, tor?
oh shoot, that's a real one too.
thanks hurshy
there is no way to spell that that isn't real! sheesh.
Hi there everyone, I have not had internet acceses for over a week. I am using marigold's computer
hello periwinkle
a frut canaree
The canaree islands?
hi peri - sorry to hear about your internet probs
i hear they are lovely this cecin
Or just up north to Canider?
I will be getting hi speed internet by this weekend., and a new e-mail address.
i hope we don't get too much rane today
very cool
For some reason I have not suffered from babble withdrawal. Have been getting lots of other things done. :)
Hi peri, wondered where you had got to
Let alone snew!
off for a while folks :)
at least it won't rane (or snew) enside
bye jean
jean you've gone pro!!!
phone, brb
Unless you have a hole in your ruf.
hi FM
that would not endir my builders to me.
Hey Wolvie, how's it going?
(rufe)
good FM - how's by you?
I don't think they'd snear at you!
bit crappy all round including the grid but tomorrow is Friday and another day :)
That wouldn't be cind!
i wish it wer friday, i could use one of my cats as my icon, she's in the grid (ci6)
Well, you could anyway, of course! You could draw a picture of her with crans.
this grid is fun - in a bad way. ;-)
It is driving me craesi!
she has grey fer, that's why i named her ci6
the ru's were bad, the u6 is still getting me
ur + at ----, soldier
us 6, I should say - I have all the ur's
Maybe if I spent as much time lookinf for real words as I did for fake ones, I would be closer to finished...
lol sorry vi :)
i need us6 too! and any and all ru's! thanks wolvie
ru 5 ru plus an 4/4 minus plural letter, ru 6 - ru plus an 4/4 entire
thanks!
ure the best!
yw
LOL - now I KNOW you must need something!!
Nah, she just wanted a chance to misspell "ure".
french speakers, note that waters and strawberry count.
vi knows me sew well.
please help with au's if have two with times sign but no others - they all belong in your game????
ahhhh - that's it, vic. ;-0
But "frau," of course, does not.
think of an imaginary halo around you ursh - or field
and neither does herr when it is here, enable hates german.
that will, by playing with endings, get you 4 more au's
oh good grief - totally ignoring u on the right
happens to me all the time. ALL the time. ;-)
four, really? wow, i only have 3 of those ones
yep - 4
what is there besides reg pl and latin pl?
lose the last a from the 4, and use two other vowels instead
how odd, ty
Enable strikes again!
wonder if quiddler takes that word too.
a babblet for sure
i wish i were feeling more cerine.
but i need one more c, and that ain't it.
ok, found it. it was my last four! 40 to go... NO FOURS... isn't that horrendous
Not as horrendous as 87 to go, all shapes and sizes!
go hurshy go!
May I please have clues for the 8's
hi again everyone...does anyone have the us 6?
I'm right there with you, vic
no, at least when you have fours, you can monkey more easily
hi abe - nope. my only missing u
Even when I've found all my fours, I'll have 74 others!
in 8- to add more. in8 dosage of medicine; de 8 is the opposite
well if you do, then you win the sad contest
thanks wolvie :)
(But you're right, that is really odd to have so many non-4's left at the end.)
thaks abe, got the in8 to add more - but stuck on the other in8
and what kills me is that i know i will still keep monkeying fours out of habit and wasting time.
only one in8
What is the point value for the us6?
us 6/24, Vicuna
abe, us6/24 us + d**** today's icon theme
us6/24
24
just found it :) :)
abe - what 8 letter words was the clue - dosage of medicine fore
too much info, but 283 words deserves some easy clues
aw, thanks msree :)
sooooo - clue please!
yw
de 8 was the opp of the in 8 peri
with n at the beginning it would fit our enable game nicely, as a word describing small children and mosquitos
peri- in 8. de 8 is the opposite
thanks Wolvie, got the de8
Thanks, hurshy!
thanks abe
thanks hurshy
yw :)
eusae potayto, isai potahto...
eusae enable, isai enobble...
lol
oh, peri, ra8 is the killing of rodents.
they kill them for sport down at the warf.
thanks hurshy, will look for it
got it, thanks hursh
they do it all different wase.
And if they let you put an f on the front, you'd get killing of college boys who drink too much...
i don't know why we can't have that. it would be a most worthy cause.
They do it to each other half the time...
this grid is fraut with rair werds
and if you put the f and another r after the t, then it would be a real word for killing your brother
clue for the last 8 letter word please
fu8, past tense of fu7, which heats your house.
I'm werid I'll never finish!
and it sux
lol
thanks so much hurshy
ac6/24 please
ac6/24 - ac + end of a set of volumes encompassing information on all subjects
pabtrek, do you have a counterpart called pabwars?
(But it means, of all things, sloth.)
ca6/21 please
i hope i accru a lot of interest this month... TOR!!
nope torgone, but i'll consider it
(The sin, not the mossy animal.)
=D
ca 6/21 is a person who works at a traveling fun fair type thingy
anyone have the last ur 6/24?
ca6/21 c***** Wilson - singer who lost a lot of weight with surgery
your upstairs alternatively spelled, abe
You might find some antiques in ur6/24
or er***** - not stable - spelled enable wise
great clue torgone, thanks
:) :) :)
Great clue, torgone! :)
thanks Wolvie and Torgone :)
hi! hey, snarf is a word in my house!
there you go vi
And another vote for "snarf!" Hooray!
lol melon - mine too
snarf is totally a word. i did it yesterday and it was painful
You should just SEE my brother snarf pancakes!
mine as well
hi melon
i think it does not mean what abe thinks it means
(Wait... painful? Maybe we don't all think it means the same thing???)
If you've ever seen my cats vacuum up their meals, you know that snarf is definitely a word... :)
lentil soup...nose...pain?
abe thinking of barf?
phantom 9it's an ugly one) fratricide
oh... snort...
fence
fenced
No noses need be involved in my definition.
oooooooooooooooh - my BBBBBAD!
snarf = eat a lot of food
Just gobbling.
snose = soup in nose?
snort is when you make a funny noise wehn you laugh. we do indeed have different snarfs
snarf is wolfing down food - snorting may or may not be involved....
snarf= food inadvertantly comes out of ones nose after laughing while eating
maybe we could call that something else
(sorry, i that's a gross visual)
like snew!
Abe, I think your def is not the commonly accepted one. But whatever it means, I wish the grid would accept it!
*spraying soup on computer screen* *hiccup* you guys are funny, made me snarf my soup!
or... snoodeeze
me too Vicuna!
snoodeeze would be lots of points and fun to clue!
and for the record, i'm with abe - we used to have snarfing competitions at camp, trying to get each other to laugh/spray any available liquid.
Only under abe's def, Fiz!
and yet we're all east coasters... how funny.
thank you Fiz! (i was beginning to question my memories of middle school)
there isn't a "snarf line" the same way there is a "pop/ soda" line
any time abe - happy to defend gross childhood behavior
A snarf line! Ha!
hi fiz
hi wolvie
I majored in linguistics. If I ever go to grad school, this shall be the subject of my dissertation.
why aren't my cats lying on the futan?
someone please give me a clue for the first re 6/21 - I must be blind
They're rather lie on some other fernider.
ac 6/21?
first i have is pl of re5 rhyming with TV, papers, mags, movies, music
Vicuna- you'd have plenty of people to interview
they want to be fanned with palm frands
hurshy - do you mean re show a TV episode?
ac7/32 please
nope. i mean re5 rhymes with a word me5
ac6/21 - some kinds of berries. Start with first 3 letters of high ph (or is it low?) and end with a ---row escape
afternoon again (had to feed the household monsters)
ahhh - I have that one - there are 2 before that
ac 7/32 a + dried cranberry by Ocean Spray, minus a vowel
hi Charm
i think the 1st re is how you might repair a chair seat
ac7/36 - pl of ac6/24, which ends like compendium of world knowledge
yikes.
hi, Age.
mmm, love those dried cranberries
sorry, let's try that again: Hi, Abe.
charm - help me! first re 6/21 please
no wonder i couldn't find a's.
re6/21 = re + walking stick.
oh i have that one that melon said
i just missed looking at it somehow.
thanks Vicuna and abe
but there is another re6/21 between that and the one i said?
abe, great clue for the ac7, thanks
nope - hmmm - is that the first?then I am missing the second. :-)
howrewe doing Wolvie?
yw pabtrek and Fiz. Hubby just sent this link, regarding snarf . http://www.webopedia.com/TERM/S/snarf. html
ty vicuna
re6/21 = take the re5/12 and make a latin pl.
badly, as you can see. ;-0
sigh.
usear
no, where is she?
soooo much less interesting, abe. *aiming with nostril*
that's ok, Wolvie, I'm waist deep in the DE's.
what is the first re 7, right after the re 6? I've done everything to that walking stick that I can think of
nothing to walking stick, get new soldiers instead.
same here wolvie
well, except break it. ;-0
unless i miss another one between those.
but i only need one more from that box.
I'm sure you are right hurshy - but i don't get that clue.
don't get your clue hurshy
you need more soldiers, you have to re7 them
oh duh - yes I do
thanks hurshy
:)
ditto wolvie, thanks hurshy
thanks Hurshy. it seems impossible to see real words at this point
i agree abe. luckily i saw that one a while ago before that annoying phenomenon set in.
re7 = Uncle Sam wants you! re*****ing poster
hello
Hi Lady
hi lady
hi lady
Hi, LadyN
Hiya Wolvie - boy things never are dull in Apex huh?
Hiya fiz
Hiya Abe
helicopters galore. :-)
hi all
never a moments peace
can you help me with that ac i dont know the cranberry
Hi taz
apex nc?
hi abe
tazpink = ac + dried grape minus one i.
one letter shy of correct spelling for a dried grape, taz - and put ac in front
brain....hurting
snap, charm
taz- sounds like what sunmaid makes, ingredient in trail mix. just lose a vowel in the middle
yep, that's where I am
*F*I*R*E*W*O*R*K*S*
dried grapes sounds good....
YAY ruthy!!
wolvie - is that the green lady that made it with cap't kirk? it just came to me.
yay ruthy!
WTG Ruthy

de7/36 please
Major congrats, ruthy!!
Fireworks.

yay, Angel
YAY Angelsong!
congrats angel
whats the word count today
283 words.
283, Lady
feels like a million
wow!
yay angel! sorry, was focused on the grid for a moment. don't worry, it's passed
sorry pab do not have that de here
imagine that, fiz. ;-0
1st de7/36 = prefix for 10 + 2nd person sing of to be.
thanks charm, got to go, storm here
bye
bye pab - be safe
actually, that orion lady danced for captain PIKE, not capt kirk.
good thing i came back in time to set y'all straight on that one.
true hurshy
phew, hursh. not being a trekkie/er myself, i gathered a great deal due to my father and uncle's obsession. thanks for the trivia booster shot.
Was she on Alderan?
=o
lalalalalala i can't hear you lalalalalalalala
tor you are an imp
she wasn't even REALLY an orion, she was a human, and she was on talos IV
Sometimes I'm just a pita ..
why was she green?
(Psst, Torgone, by even knowing the name "Alderaan," you kind of give away your supposed ignorance.)
the talosians were making her look different ways to try to entice capt pike so he'd be happy staying there.
LOL - true true - why green I never figured out tho
because in that scene she was supposed to be an orion.
orion women are known for hypersexuality.
No, I'm really ignorant - just ask my kids ..
And greenness.
forgot about the greenness
yes, and greenness. sometimes things are so obvious to me that i forget to state them.
Did Kirk ever say 'no' to a proposition?
*thinking*
headed out to class. will finish later. good luck everyone!
yes!
bye abe
that episode, "The Menagerie" was originally called "The Cage" and was supposed to be the series pilot, but was cut down for an episode instead
hello everyone
bye abe. (you're going to be sorry you missed this chat!)
I think he begrudgingly turned down a teenager once ..
(a two part episode).
Hi, Kalea
Charm, it would have been so selfish of Kirk to deny some poor soul his LUV.
hiya Charm
he turned down elaan of troyius
lol Charm
even though she had love-potion tears.
lol, Vic.
the enterprise had infected him long before she did *sniff, sniff*
i'm such a sucker for true love.
Miri was the teenager. And Janice was sorely P.O's by him noticing Miri and not her....
or at least true lust of the moment....
lol.........i sign on to play babble, and find a Star Trek convo instead
true love meaning kirk and the enterprise... not a lust situation.
you know janice was actually a teenager herself when she came aboard the enterprise, she lied about her age to get into starfleet.
That's the one, bj ..
He's married to his ship. So he just has to settle for a bimbo on every planet. poor kirk....
hursh, you don't know much about lust do you......
well ok, if we expand the definition of lust to include all forms of covetousness and desire...
Hello all. Clue for the last in7,28?
i'm such a star trek fenatic...
in7/28 = more crazy (not sure if it's the last)
mkl - trap.
hurshy, I would never have guessed....
you all have TOO MUCH TIME on your hands. couldn't you go read to some illiterate kids or serve a meal at a soup kitchen or something?
it's a toy. Warp 8, planet wrecking, rift ripping, bevy of beauties on the bridge, what planet (or single woman) can compare with a toy like that....
good morning all
edith keeler ran a soup kitchen :)
clue for ri 6/24?
Thanks hursh. Thought that word started with en
hi, lynxxx
hi lynxxx
*says fiz, as she babbles away the afternoon*
fix - this knowledge has accumulated over the course of 22 years...
(in my case)
I don't think you would want me reading Galactic Patrol, Galaxy Primes, or I Mudd to some tender youngster.....
and that is fiz, not fix, sorry!
LOL bj
r16.24 - used to decorate clothes - old fashioned - two parts repeating with a change of vowel only
lol brandy

no-no, Tor, this is why we have a penalty box.
fr7,40?
w00t
flower
*slinks to penalty box*
which bath and body works has made into a popular scent
don't worry, Tor - it's permanently stocked with chocolate and coffee....
*F*I*R*E*W*O*R*K*S
the flower, not the penalty box.
congrats sha
thanks, Hurshy
yay sha!
YAY sha!
ur6.24 - the third one pls
thanx bye all
Congrats Sha!
bye, sha
Clue for fr7,40?
where you would find antiques, lynx

ur+ loft minus the 2nd t
mkl - that is what dippnall and i were talking about.

Me likee hugs . .
yikes, an aracnid!
fu5/18 = fu + past tense of run. and pl.
in6.27 in + what you pay for public transport
fu+ walked, but faster
fu6/18 = add a vowel to the end of the 1st fu5/18.
TY CHarm

re + visage.
TY Charm again
lynxxx, I'm at the same point in the list that you are....
Both de7,36?
decane
*hugs mkl*
de7/36 = prefix for 10 + 2nd pers. sing. of to be.
*back to the box*
*and charm*
LOL tor - this is your day
de7/36 = pl of the de6/24 (an edict or declaration)
17 5's and 6's left!
ty, hursh (not sure why,s ince you've been clueing me all day)
de7.36 (first) add a vowel into the 3rd place of the word before
but that was my last seven!
Guess I'll just decan a craf of wi4/8 ..
it was also my last d
i need lots of f's and s's
Man, I can't monkey any of those de's
*snicre*
de6 = de + not discriminate based on race, sex, religion, ****d....
EVERY one of the de clues went over my head. Been at this too long today.
mkl, in olden days, the king de****d that the knight who killed the ogre would win the princess' hand.
which just shows you where his priorities were.
why not the knight who invented the best search engine?
daughters were a dime a dozen. Ogres and skilled knights were few and far between.
ha, i tricked you there. you thought it was a feminist argument, but i went a whole nother way
2nd en6.21 pls
i second lynxxx's motion
Got the last de 6 and 7. FINALLY. What a dope. Now, could someone walk me through the first de6,24 and de7,36?
de + i really **** about you, mkl
en6/21 = en + ****k water/ale/tea. pl.
de + gov't org + second note of octave

I need help with the fa's after the 3 about what holds your eyes in
(the lol was me laughing at myself)
take your fa that holds your eyes in and drop the last vowel... change it to the 3rd vowel, then add the first vowel.... then plural
you might go to a salon for a fa***l
another fa is a kind of play on stage, exaggerated satire. That word is also past tense and the ending that means 'more so'
ty
then change the last letter on your fa5/18 (3rd one) to the 3rd vowel
And the person performing the kind of play on stage...
and finally, think about the word that describes what you pay when you board a bus or train
And the past tense of the performing...

Suppan pitching to pinch hitter Michael Tucker to start bottom of 7th
Re's all done. They weren't so bad.
If rodents were to kill themselves, theywould be committing ra******
ra 8 - what you would use to knock off vermin that run in the sewers
greengeeny - ra8 - my favourite word of the grid so far... sounds like rodents killing themselves. Really, it's the poison that does it.
But Michael Jackson thought Ben was so cute...ewww
Thanks, Douglas - now I'm hearing the song! LOL
ra 8 is a great word.

hi Fiz -- I am knitting a scarf, the second one with bumpy yarn. Took a while to get used to knittiing with it, but now I rather like how it hides mistakes... :-)
lol stid, separated by months! :-) my mom used to sew all our clothes too and she would put it on.
stid - that's cheating! (with the wool) LOL
yep, same here.
my mom used to sew it on EVERYTHING - curtains, pillows, clothes, placemats, whatever
It's called "Galaxy" by Bernat. It cost me $1 a skein, usually close to $5, so I bought a bunch to make scarves and hats for our local homeless kids.
Eckstein grounds out to first, Spiezio pinch hits for Wilson with one out, no one on...Spiezio's red-dyed facial hair creeps me out...

jilli rhymes with a little alliterative mint
Good clue, The Fiz.
Jill -- short name for richard, then repeat w/ diff vowel
jilli - think of another name for noughts & crosses - ti*, ta* toe.
we have green onions, chives, two kinds of tomatoes, anaheim chiles, hawaiian chiles, thai basil, sweet basil and rosemary.
