thats good to hear herin - i couldnt live without my net anymore
i have no idea wot i did before i had the web
we had the worst storm in many many years in Holland yesterday, but I don't think it made it to the international news.
i saw something earlier about massive storms in europe causing several deaths, but havent caught the news yet sprite
yes it did, sprite, and earlier (before she went to bed) stid said to pass along her concern to all affected
the UK was badly hit with lots still without electricity
It was really bad for this part of the world. No trains at all, most major roads blocked for safety and several deaths.
things rarely make the news unless there are numerous deaths
I saw there were winds up to 91 mph
same in UK Sprite with still a lot of disruption today
Usually the Netherlands are too small to be of concern for american news, unless it is really desastrous. I was so incredibly relieved when my kids and love made it home yesterday.
we had major power losses here on tuesday too
good grief ! hope you guys in the North weren't directly affected.
That sounds awful guys. Stay home and stay safe
its too hot her its about 70 degrees humidity her its horrible
I was really shocked when I saw at the news that a father took his 6yo son on the dike in Harlingen, to see the storm and feel it. The kid was scared stiff, you could see that.
At least there is rain around Infernal - lets be grateful for that
yeah precious little of it in oz lately lynxxx
nope no rain here just humidity and spattering that makes it worse.
Sprites some people are to stupid to bread
and im off
see ya her
bye herin
If begat is a word - why can't you have misgat. - get pregnant by accident?
lol ang - you would need some antigat to prevent that
because it would be begatoops
LOL
I do try everything you must admit!
which is why you are good at this!
I am off, bye
see ya sprite
gotta run - c yas later
And the pull the other one lynxxx
bye Sprite - hope no more bad weather hits you

I suppose Fran has come, conquered and gone
Not sure Ang - only been on for half hour
Ah well - I was only going to stir her.

Yep, and you are one point behind.

www.quote-puzzler.com babrab
ty
another word game site.
Don't knock yourself Fran you consistently beat me! Not that says much
Gee - think that wasn't totally flattering, but I am truly in awe of your abilities (hope that's better)
lol angb! i got what you meant.
now that you've pointed that out angb, i'm probably going to crash and burn the rest of the week!
You can't be too careful in chatlogs, often meaning is misconstrued as we see once in a while here
Right - on to trying to grey boxes.
QP is humbling, every time i think i've done pretty good the rest of the players just blow my score away.
I know what you mean - I wish I hadn't looked now
10 to go
go jilli go!
go jilli. I'm still looking for 24
Nope, not looking anymore.
Oh, jilli thnx for the icon clue

I am stumped on a 4 letter word - the first le4/4 - I'd swear I've tried every possible way - obviously not

i forgot that great clue!
co7/32 please
I'm depressed - lost it on QP LOL. Sob sob
never mind angb there is always tomorrow
angb, remind me not to look at the weekly stats again! :-)
found the co = could be a little co 6/21
co 7 actual definition - a woman's lightweight foundation garment combining a brassiere and girdle in one piece.
i went to morewords for that one angb, i didn't get the clue that was given at the flip, but now that i know the word, it makes sense.
Wasn't at the flip - monkeyed that one.
cool
doesn't happen that often so yes it is
thx angb
Andree, think of the Mr Ed theme
that's another good clue. Got me singing again tonite
LOL
Good morning/evening all. This puzzle looks like a challenge. Why is it that 'challenging' and 'interesting' strike fear rather than cheer?
hi haz!
that's fireworks for me!
used list for last 16
hi haz - not too bad
hi haz, I am finding it difficult
Just in time to say congratulations!
Yay fran - great going
yay fran
thanks all!
would anyone like a clue before i go? haz you can close your eyes!
Just to make the grid even more challenging, Fran? That could be the new aim for those seeking to make babble as hard as possible - don't look at the grid!
Dont know what I'm missing Fran - but thanks for the offer
here's more of a challenge, have someone read the grid to you and find words that way...not!
sh/4 pooped
okay then, going to do QP and go to bed then. night!
hi6/21 please, have niether
Goodnight FranMag - sleep well when you go.
bye fran
I'm thinking andree how to clue it
hi 6 = ends with the french for salt. Starts with a syllable that sounds like the female possessive word (whatever you call it in grammar)
Sorry - not up to that page in my son's English workbook
perfect angb
Cool
Possessive pronoun is the technical term but you've got the hardest word to spell correct!
It's the sort of word I usually hope someone else clues LOL
got hi 6!
Thanks Haz - must get son to work so I figure the proper names out
You've clued it perfectly. No dictionary definition given but we would use it here to describe a type of cough.
We did homophones today!
I have forgotten all those terms years ago am reduced to saying thingy, lol
I'm delighted to hear he's being taught grammar. It's the skeleton that holds a language together.
computers are the end for grammar
Morning all This grid makes you work for the points!!
I agree eg.
Morning FMitch
Good morning FMitch - has the wind eased overnight at all?
hi fmitch, it sure does
Yes very much and the sun is out too Haz. Hi Andree I have changed my icon incase it's not showing.
That post-Christmas diet has done the trick, FMitch.
my son is studying for the SAT's. That get the grammar focussed on!
LOL Haz
Good luck to him - when are the exams eg?
good morning everybody:)
Hi jean
Good morning jean - haven't seen you for a while.
hi jean
Morning jean
I have been around just on here at odd times Haz:)
exams are next month, I think
Ah, that explains it. For a moment I thought you might have broken free from the addiction, but I should have known better....
I have been altering my times Haz as I gave up smoking last week and it was a kind of association of playing babble and having a quick cigarette, but I can safely say I can play now without that happening lol
Well done jean!!!!
congrats jean
Well done on giving up smoking! Bunny is also giving up - she was rewarded for a while the other day by sitting triumphantly at the top of 'who's hot' while all the star players were deprived of their normal place.
good one jean
Thank you FMitch and Andree its been tough but Im on day 7 today whey hey lol
hey today all
I'm munching on Ritz toasted chips and staying awake
well done to Bunny:)

It nearly sounds like an item of clothing but has a double cons at the end
sh5/12 - a sewing technique similar to smocking
sh 5/12 - what is not germaine is ***elevent
thx cait and haz, used to sh*** a lot for the kids
Andree - my knowledge of the technique is purely theoretical!
my guy use to raise and show them.

that word for form of snow is in this list!
thx babble and haz, thought I had tried that
You're welcome, Andree.

bye jean
hi everyone, and thanks for the great clue, babrab
ta 4/6- you're it!
You're welcome, eva.
hi sugar
will someone please tell Merp that 5:30 is much too early for breakfast?
hi andre, nasty little grid today, don't you think
merp waits for no man (or woman)!
well he's going to have to!
who's the little critter sugar?
horrid grid sugar
12 left
13 here
Okay, Eva, Merp can wait a bit longer lol
Just a cute pic, I couldn't resist!
the critter and don king have the same do
lol babrab!
59 left
hit the wall at 27 left, any clues for the left a, I only have ag 5/14?
11 now. Maybe I'll leave the rest for later.
eek
don't feel like using the list now
eek?
ah4/7 - greeting beloved of seafarers
you want to feed merp, you know you do!
ah6/21 - add the equine
thanks haz!
at7/32 - finely trained runners, jumpers, throwers
no sugar, if I feed him now then he'll want dinner at 4pm, and then breakfast will keep getting earlier and earlier. It's sort of like keeping th baby up so it will sleep through the night.
tx haz!
except that babies don't usually bite you in the process
the rh7 is nice
s/7/18?
lol eva, I know, I had 3 (cats, not babies)!
Check your s request again, egbokmom?
thanks again haz, just one more to go....
I'm missing one from that tile as well - no idea about points or values.

yw

bye haz

mi 6 -- ushers get people to their ****s
wow, tx eva, what a strange word! tx babrab and andre, I have now!
later andre

sleep well
night eva, thanks for your help
back soon, caffeine break!
Mornin' All!
I'm back. hi Odin
Hey sug
I am working on a caffeine buzz myself...main food group for me!
me too, Odin! tx for the clues in your icon, greyed out the i's for me!
My pleasure...it is a great grid today.
that's a matter of opinion!
I hate z's..............
LOL...it is great if it is small and interesting...seems it may be both today.
I also am not found of the z's...any idea how many are in this one?
3
The less the better.
Those of us with z in our name COULD take offence....
no haz, only words beginning with!
You dug yourself out of that one well!
Mornin' to you Miss Haz...no offence intended. If I see you name in a grid I find it quite simply. However, there are z words the nuns never told me about!
why is zois not a word? it has a nice ring to it.....
Wise nuns.
Indeed...I must say I like your icon .. good clue.
naughty z's ? hmmmmm
Thanks Odin - have you seen FMitch's wasp waist courtesy of her diet/co6/21?
I believe I mossed it as I got into the grid after she was gone.
But I got the clue...thanks Haz
It's worth seeing if she comes back. The nuns might not approve though.
I expect you are noticing my typing skills are atrocious today...mind is fine fingers are on their own.
You're doing pretty well, no desperate spelling errors anyway. Our local paper carried a story where guests at a reception were treated to champagne and canopies.
LOL...if have seen a few in the papers. Tough getting the awning poles down from the canopies, huh?
lol haz! I cannot believe the amount of typos in newspapers - you'd think with spellcheck....???
The problem with spellcheck is that it doesn't know anything about context.
Exactly.
true, true
And I felt sorry for a young football team whose exploits as Carniny Clots just didn't sound as good as Carniny Colts.
I give up on the z's, only got ze4/4, somebody help, please!!!!
any clue for the 8 please?
Okay - zo4/10 - relating to animal life (add part of the frozen water)
Obviously spellcheck would have had no problem with clots...but where the hell are the editors and proof readers?
Don't have it yet spanner
zo4/9 - zo plus two vowels (ending of the popular beverage)
extension of mi6/21, spanner
TY Haz
tx haz, I feel better now!
Thanks sug
ty sugar, but I dont have mi 6/21 yet LOL
I don't think editors can be bothered any more - certainly our local newspaper editor claimed that he couldn't read every part of the newspaper and that he was depending on young journalists who hadn't a very good grounding in English. Why employ them??
My point exactly, Odin, these people are writing for a living, for Pete's sake!
what about the ea5/10 - to have ingested food
Some time ago a headline in my mothers local rag read 'vicar rapes parishoners' it was supposed to say 'vicar raps parishoners'....
Oh spanner!!!!
Thats hysterical, spanner - bet the vicar loved it, and Odins nuns went a whiter shade of pale!!!!
my mothers reaction to the headline was..'what? ALL of them?
your mother should be on the stage, LOL
She took me to see Sons and lovers some years ago, and when they were wrestling naked i the firelight she said (very loudly) oohhhh! Nice carpet
What a woman!
go MOM!!!!!
what a nutter...she has always been eccentric
Anyway, much as I hate to go, I have places I need to be. Back later!
later haz
see ya haz, have a great day
Thanks - bye!
did yu get the mi/8, spanner?
no i am rubbish at this LOL
*you*, seeing as we're being very correct with our spelling today!
makes a change for me..
i have 43 words so far....
okay, yell if you need further clues, I'm battling with the last 16..........
im battling with the last 48.
bbl, going into Licketys for help.........
i cant do that I am on a hotel computer and it will open only 1 page at a time...
later sugar

haz, how did you fare in lthose windstorms yesterday? Any British babblers affected that you know of?
congrats merk
Bravo Merk
Congrats, Merk.....
inge - I'm in Northern Ireland and we didn't suffer anything like the winds on the mainland. I haven't heard of any babblers being directly affected. 10 people have lost their lives though.
I dont think Jacula was in the chat last night, that's what made me ask
wow - lots of problems here with ice and such - hope the uk fares better
It's possible that her power might have been affected. I'll let her know if Isee her on later that you were concerned.
so No. Carolina got it bad??!! Our part of Michigan is ok again, got their power back, though we never lost ours
I am going to check earlier chat, to see whether our British friends were there
no no - we are okay - I'm just speaking in general - way bad in midwest/ssouth and NE, so I hear
Hi, Wolvie. Asheville, NC didn't get the ice that was ballyhooed for two days... not that we're complaining, but Raleigh and Charlotte were hit kind of hard. We were lucky.
I'm near raleigh - it really wasn't that bad - more messy than anything. I live about 10 minutes from there. TG we didn't get the ice that OKLA got
ooh... fellow NCers...
inge, Haz. I'm here. I was on the 'phone.
hi jac - good to know
It's not that we are unaccustomed to bad weather... we came from NE Pa., and winter starts at the end of August until May. LOL.
hi spec - yep, the NC contingent is here. :-)
afternoon, folks
Hey, specificity, good to see another NC-er!
The only 'casualty' here from the storms was the cat. He came in soaked with mud and had to be bathed. See icon pic of Paul washing him.
I hear you scarlet - i'm orignally from Michigan. nuff said
hi movieman
will have to check with our son in Charlotte, how he fared
I'm in southern England and seem to have got off very lightly. There are still a lot of homes without power near me but no local fatalities luckily
OOOOH, then you have been "broken in" to the bad weather. It's not the weather, it's how others on the road deal with it. :-(
jac, your icon pic is priceless!!
Just saw you r post jacula, glad to read you are ok
Our news this morning is full of photos and news about the storms in Europe . . . hope everyone is OK . . .
well behave cat there jac - no bandages needed!

FIREWORKS
wow, congrats wolvie!
for a trip such as this kate, I think you will need them all. A bit everyday is good - trust me, I've done similar trips, and as well as I plan, I always feel rushed towards the end
took me an hour - used lickety for the last 30 or so
any clues before I toodle off?
Wolvie, how about the co6/21 clue? Thanks.
good afternoon everybody:)
cohath
there's just so much to do, and I've suddenly acquired a social life which I'm also trying to cram in before I go
scarlet - a victorian girdle
hi jean
I hear you kate. :-)
I thought that was the 7/32... I'll keep pecking away
take the L out of the 7/32, and you have the 6/21
the 7 I clued as a small girdle. :-)
hi everyone! :) wolive, is that your backyard?
I need the first 6/21... have the torture clothing
ahh - that one sounds just like the co 4/7 - a man's name - double consonant in the middle
owllery!
I can't believe how quickly time is going, and yet everything that's happened feels like it was years ago
I'm glad that you are doing better kate. :-)
Good news Kate. Don't forget you will need plenty of warm clothes, last time I was in Toronto in April, it was well below freezing
Thanks, Wolvie, that was the one.
okay then - I am off - happy babbling to all! *poof*
wren I think it's around -20 at the moment, I can't even imagine how cold that feels

Does anyone else get a sore ear from being on the phone? Just had an hour long conversation with a friend, but we've sorted the world out.
hah, yeah, sometimes haz!
totally.
lol yes it happens to me sometimes Haz:)
I'm always reluctant to shift the earpiece to the other side in case I miss something vital!
rofl know that one
AZ 5/22 is doing my head in, any clues please?
az 5 is a plus zo4/10
zo4/10 - add partially frozen water - means relating to animal life
TYVM !!
You're welcome!
"mosh" should totally be a word -- hasnt the enable dictionary every gotten caught in a mosh pit?! *ugh*
I'm so old and square that I had never heard of a mosh pit before babblers told me what it meant.
haz, does the 8 have to do with roots?
not much fun, if you ask me -- injuries abound!
smallie today, huh?
mi8 - is what happens when my husband has consumed food intended for others
It extends from mi6/21
thanks haz!!
You're welcome!
I got 9 words out of that clue
A bargain basement clue!
heh that's good cause I haven't gotten anything so far....
9 words? man, i got the words being clued, but hat was it...heh
I just got looking at the puzzle from another perspective
Looking south to north, do you mean?
yes
I've been working from the top corner and gettignnothing
hints for the O on the left?
double consonent down and then up
It's a type of root, I think. or5
Alas, poor Yoric. He's not a word in this puzzle.
It's another term for iris, having a fragrant rootstock
did you know him well?
I knew him for a "spell".
lol
thanks haz -- my eyes didnt wanna see that second R in the grid!
LOL
HA finally got t he mi's!
Glad you got it evanadine!
ah6, haz?
The actor's nickname is in again today... portrays Denny Crane on Boston Legal. LOL :-)

The other 7 is at - a trained runner or jumper or thrower

Hi Peri :)
Thanks FMitch, got to run happy babbling everbody:)
mi6/21 - extends to mi8/45 - when husband consumes food intended for others, I deem him to have mi8 it.
thanks hurshy, and Haz
but peri, i don't have the ones you have... are they weird or normal?
Bye Jean, have a good day - and a smoke-free one. Your lungs are very grateful....
words that start with mis and non really annoy me!
rh7 - botanical term
I bet you do more than that though Haz!! re m8
hurshy co7 is in FMitch's icon, the rh7 I think is a chemical word, BabbleRabble gave a great clue earlier today
ugh, why do there have to be so many words to do with plants, birds, and fish
the rh7 ends in the so4/5
ooops botanical term like Haz said :)
mmm, i get co6 but, is the 7 some alt sp or what/
Add one consonant hurshy, to get a neater version of the female underpinning.
hurshy drop a stick letter in the middle
thanks
YW hurshy
Husband was doing a talk for a nursery class today about looking after animals etc. He took a nurse's dog in as well as some of our daughters' cuddly toys. They have returned bandaged and looking as if they have been in a war zone!
lol
How sweet, I bet they came out with some classics.
i can't believe they haven't got mosh in enable (this is probably the 500th time someone has said this today...)
Bandages for animals come in really bright colours now. One teddy is sporting a particularly livid shade of pink on a leg wound.
Well I hope teddy feels better soon LOL
What !! No MOSH!! 501st time :))
Teddy's home to recuperate.
i have captured a fierce and ferocious bear
I have 1 ag, 2 ah and 1 at, what am I missing
there are 2 ag and 2 at
these are from the far left, just realized I don't have any from the right hand column :)
thanks Hurshy
i need one of your ah's, i have the sailor one
(and i need one from the right, so there could be 3 at)
hurshy it is a babblet, on top of a riding animal
ohhhh, i should have thought of that.
I still need one a from the right column
the other a that comes from that side is an az5/22
me too
how many words today?
I can't believe mosh doesn't work . .
Just 91
thanks fmitch
ty haz
*kiss kiss* how are you, my love?
You're welcome.
It sounds so simple when you say "just 91"
hey everyone just reached halfway point
Fat and sassy, lassie ..
What, no CORS either, about time the dictionary was updated!
lol
sometimes i dont know wether to fear or embrace smaller grids
i think the puzzles this size - 75 to 100 words - are the hardest for some reason
what's wrong with both?
Et Fireworks!
woot klaurel
fireworks for me too!!
its a double
congrats, klaurel!
yay rae!
Congratulations to the finishers!
woohoo, raelite!
and I have ten minutes to spare!
FIREWORKS!
WoW Klauret, you did it really fast, even with time to spare!
anyone need a clue?
yes, i have a ze4 and zo4, need 3rd z

Catherine ****-Jones
i am stuuuuuuuuuuuuuuupid

there is only one ZE
We've often remarked on how stupid you are. Talk of the log, hurshy.
2 ZOs
A grid like this is kind of like a good woman - small enough to get your arms around, but complex enough to keep you interested ..
hmm, tor, so, what I was 10 years ago, BK
you rang? LOL
HA! great analogy tor.
oh ok i need the other zo i have the zo in the az
sounds like i'm talking like snoop dog
I have long arms ..
zo + what you put in your drink to make it cold - drop the last letter
lol @ everyone
zo plus two vowels, the ending for a beverage
got that one
lol wurdygurl
maybe not
bbl
zo + frozen water (minus last letter)
ok i am throughly disgusted with myself i cant get it
zo + stuff your face with food (minus last letter)
I have the zo** (the *** tea
now use the other part of that beverage
then, it is zo + stuff your face with food (minus last letter)
the other spelling for the number

Hi Stid--we are "wintry"--a foot of snow expected by tomorrow!
Yucky darn viruses!
ya must have sent it my way then stid! lol...i'm a bit under the weather myself
We are having that virus up here, too. Hospitals are telling people not to come visit!

*handing out vitamin C and echincea* have some tea, friends!
We're expecting 6"-8" of snow tonight.
sorry to hear that Cathy and BGL --

Hospitals are loaded with germs, and some very dangerous ones too.

Yes, but as a pastor it makes it difficult to do hospital visit for your parishioners when teh hospitals don't want visitors! :)
Anyone need clues?

It is NOT Othello. Othello would be like checkers compared to chess

As far as comparing Othello to Go
Stidmama got a phone call---she should return soon

we used to have only red squirrels, then the grays started moving in. They're cute too, but way more aggressive, and not native (unlike the reds)

co6 like a girdle
hi K.E.! *popping out to see icon*
I see an occasional black squirrel too, Peri.
excellent! K.E.!

I don't think I ever saw a black squirrel unless when I was a kid and we went to Maine -- but that was over 30 years ago.
co6==nickname for a girl perhaps, if her name were Co***ne
There is a double consonant in there, Peri

The first time I saw a black squirrel I thought it was another animal, like a weasel or something--it was so different

ri6/21 please
and on the other end of the spectrum, it is the middle of January and the snow plows and sanders have only been out 2 or 3 times so far here in New England. The guys that make their livings every winter doing the plowing and sanding are all suffering big time and the some of the smaller local ski areas have decided not to open up at all this year. Odd.
are you mousey or Inge 3???
hello mousey! no school today? or home already?

I refreshed a bunch of times, to no avail. Stid.. how would I do that?
10 left off to get the list.
or maybe try rebooting your computer. is anything else not working correctly?
Depends what browser, but generally you go to the Tools-Options section and look through until you find the setting for what gets shown...
in my version of firefox, it's on the first little popup screen "load images automatically"
well, the wireless light on the router won't come on, so I can't use the laptop... but the desktop is not wireless. ty, stidmama.. I will try that. No firefox on this computer... it is IE..
My cat's name is in the grid again :)
*looking for a kitty cat's name...*
I would turn off your computer for a slow count to 10 and then turn it back on again. don't just restart it.
peri, does it start with z?
ty, minski... I will try that too..
Yes inge
When all else fails.....reboot
inge, did you peek at my profile ?
I wonder if stid will guess it , too

Hello, Janiece
I Babble, feather, and all!
Should have been in the chat earlier. There was evidently a young new babbler and he seemed very impatient waiting for the clues he requested.
interesting juxtapositon of icons, between janiece and babblerabble
They just had a guy on the news who climbed up to change the lightbulbs in the jack in the box sign and got stuck in the box. He was stuck up there in the box for 6 hours. Can you imagine.

Hurshy-just looking at your blurb again and think I may have said this before, but don't know if I've run into anyone else who appreicated Cold Comfort Fram, although the book was much, much better than the moie. then why did you say eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeekkkkkkkkkkk
lol eva. i have to get around to reading the book.
looks like a guy on runescape who try`s to robb you when you are trying to get to varrok
It has, of course, much more detail. But there are certainly times when I wouldn't mind shutting myself in my room , getting room service and simply muttering, every once in a while "I saw something nasty in the woodshed".
lol
i love when the hollywood guy goes, "but did it see you, baby?"
the man in black!!!!!! the dread pirate roberts!!!!!
i admit it - with pride
im not mousey anymore
2 Left. Embarrassingly enough, one of them is a LE4. Not the pre-easter season. The other is the RH. Help is appreciated.
who did he say that to?
"i do not think him is what you think him is"
buttercup. and he said "what can i do for you?" and she said "you can die slowly, cut into a thousand pieces"
lol, gotta stop now, or i'll be quoting all night
and she said "tch-tch, hardly complimentary, your highness. why loose your venom on me?"
you killed my love
oops, i mean, he said.
it's possible, i kill a lot of people.
possible, i killed a lot of people.
lol!
who was this love of yours? another prince like this one? ugly, rich, and scabby?
no, poor, poor and perfect
Quote me a hint please
with eyes like the sea after a storm
rh = rh + l**ard (reptile that likes to bask in the sun) + your h*** is where your heart is
no, a farm boy... poor. poor and perfect. with eyes like the sea after a storm
on the high seas your ship attacked, and the dread pirate roberts never takes prisoners
*forcing self to stop*
Mooch, God bless you!
i can hardly afford to make exceptions - i mean once word gets out that a pirate has gone soft, then people begin to disobey you and it's nothing but work, work, work all the time
weeee, was waiting for that! ok, i know what i'm going to blog about tonight...favorite quotes from princess bride
you mock my pain!
yw, le4 is one of the g words minus the g
life is pain!
le 4.4 last two letters is southern past tense of ate!!
anyone who says differently is selling something.
...can't think of the lead in to the push down the hill
i think i remember this love of yours. this would be, what, five years ago?
oh, wait
"i remember this farm boy...
Mooch - that was very good clueing on the RH!!
something something....he simply said please. twas the please that something....i'm rusty on this part for some reason
SMDNJV, ty. Done! I'm coming down w/a cold. Actually I have a cold. Anyway I'm glad to put this puzzle and myself to bed ;)
please, i need to live. twas the please that caught my memory
congrats gramma!
i asked him what was so important
true love, he said
and then he spoke of a girl of surpassing beauty and faithfulness
bye all, happy babbling! For being rusty you sure are good. When I hear it I remember it but I sure couldn't quote it myself!
i can only assume he meant you
I hope you feel better soon gramma!
Bye Mooch!
faithfulness he talked of, your enduring faithfulness...tell me true, when you found out your love was dead, did you get engaged to the prince the same day or did you wait a week out of respect for the dead?
you mocked me once, never do it again! i died that day! and you can die too for all i care!
you mocked me once, never do it again! aaaaasssss youuuuuuu wiiiiiiiisssssshhhhhhhh
oh my sweet westley, what have i done?
*ooof, oww, tumble roll roll*
we stop now. :)
lol, my hubby just rolled his eyes at me, and called us both pathetic! said most lovingly of course
lol, it was very hard for me to stop when you were throwing new lines out there!
i know :)
lol, you're terrible!
i can't help it, it all flows
ok, off to work on the blog post of favorite quotes now while it's running in my head
hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die! (Sorry, couldnt resist!)
ahaha, Janiece...I was thinking the same :)
My favorite movie! I was quoting right along!
Question please! How many times do you watch a movie to be able to quote so eloquently?
I can only answer for myself, and I would say 10 - 15 times. And I loved each time.
LOL Janiece!!
I can't quote like that no matter how many times I watch a movie!
Now feather and Hurshy really are eloquent! I wonder how many times they have watched it?...
I can't either. I watch "To Kill a Mockingbird" and Primal Fear every time I hear of them playing somewhere....but I can barely quote the titles!!
It would be interesting to know!!
i don't remember. i haven't watched it in several years. i should remedy that.
I have a hard time remembering the character's names...but I still love watching a good movie over again.
i just got the DVD for christmas to replace my old VHS copy.
I love a good movie. My best friend and I often go to the movies on Saturday afternoon and watch at least two.
I can't remember the last time I saw anything but a "G" movie!
ah, I'm a cheap-o. I wait for them to be released.
princess bride is PG. it has just one swear word.
I fell in love with movies after viewing "Friendly Persuasion" as a child. I was so infatuated with all the characters in that movie...especially that mischievious little boy!!
see, I can't even tell you what the swear word is lol
I can, but I wont!
Lo)
inigo as he kills count rugen, "i want my father back you son of a ...."
Oh, yeah. That's the one w/Andre the Giant. We have watched that.
ah, ok hurshy
I believe Hurshy can quote the whole movie!!
Imma thinkin so!
well, i am a little rusty, cause, as i said, it's been several years since my last viewing.
I wish I had that great a memory...but alas, I can barely recall my children's names.
but, i also have the script handy in my file cabinet, which i typed up myself in high school.
LOL!
so i could use it if necessary
lol smd
maybe that is your problem - children. i don't have any, so my memory space is free for princess bride.
what was the rh clue from earlier, I missed it.
how do you get balloons off the ground? you rh7!
that wasn't the clue from before... but... it's a clue...
LOL hurshey!!
huh?
rh 7 is part of the root system of a plant i thing
think
it's just silly egbo, and it's not even grammatically correct
lost me
came back for a second.....i used to have first a copy i taped of the movie off tv in high school....then i had made a tape recording of that so i could listen to it on the bus. i eventually got a real vhs tape of it, and then a few years ago got the dvd. i can't possibly count how many times i've seen it! i used to quote lines in my head at night to help fall asleep.
it has the 6 point letter in it
Rh + vowel + H*** is where the heart is.
rh + l**ard + h*** run in baseball
i maybe saw it once this past year, maybe once in the 2 or 3 years before that. it's been quite a while, but once it's stuck, it's stuck for good.
Oooh forgot that middle part feather!!
hi heather - what are you talking about?
hmm?
as mousey would say... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
the princess bride! hurshy and i were having fun quoting lines back and forth
he must have liked this grid, his favorite letter being here
scuse me feather I meant Nonnie!
i used to twirl saber in the winterguard....a friend and i would try to act out the sword fight.
what can i say, i had no life in high school!
now the sword fight music is in my head
check the log, around 6:00 log time i think, or maybe later
i've never seen that one
aaack!!! *gasp* never seen it?
travesty.
oh Ping, do yourself a favor and watch it at least once! Good movie!
Man! We gotta get hurshy & featherbee out of the house! Want to come up to IL & hit a gin mill? My punk's spending the night at a friends.
punk?
lol, can't diane, i'm preggers
Yep, the 8 year old boy-child.
ahh, congrats feather!
wow. go to youtube, there are tons of clips of it on there
Is "punk" a term of endearment?
did you do the grid today, heather?
Of course it is. He doesn't really sport a mohawk and multiple facail piercings.
I am sure it is short for Punkin!
i have 40 left still
not yet
No, I was thinking maybe short for "punkin" or something like that...
isn't mosh a word?
I thought it was ping
:)
I've dunnit - got the Fireworks!
He does kind of look like a Punkin right now. Teeth are falling out left & right. Tooth Fairy's going broke!
yahoo! congrats exwren

good for you smdnjv!
Mr. Ed is ......!!
thanks, sm - got it
yw!!
a + equine
thanks phan - how are you tonight?
hurshy, if you ever feel rusty and need a refresher in the lines: http://www.geocities.com/Hollywood/Hil ls/6665/script.htm
good, you?
i'm using it to copy and paste quotes in my blog
the hard part is paring the number of lines i like down
(did i break the chat?)
az, please?
I STILL can't get the rhy?word. Help, please
Just popping in to say Hi, finsihed earlier today
hi peri

rh + l**ard (reptile) + h***work (what your teacher assigns)
rh+3rd vowel+last letter +4th vowel and not you but **
Nonnie I like your clue better :)

Nonnie!! Would a clue like z + Oh I see! be acceptible for that word??
what's the reptile?
bye everyone see you tomorrow
Bye Peri!
has anyone tried playing weboggle today, i tried to get on but apparently its not working
Reptile rhymes with Gizzard...
aha--yes! smd
i was on weboggle about an hour ago
I did not know if you would be sent to the penalty box for that clue or not.
bak to see if i can get the past 12 woids within three hours 8-)
and it worked okay grace
can anyone clue one of the ag words please
grace, i play weboggle too! what's your screen name, if i may ask?
both are 5's - go straight across for 1
weboggle hangs up a lot during evening hours (US time) so best to play in the wee hours
and the other drop the last letter and change it to a vowel
ty phan i have been looking for those forever, my fingers were getting tired
when weboggle hangs up i wait a few rounds, and if it remains stuck, i refresh. don't refresh a lot though since that is probably partly why it hangs up a lot
i couldn't even get to the grid though gwen, i've never had that problem before
at7 anyone?
A + happy, full of G***
pab, you've been lucky if you've never had that before! LOL
AT 7 is a sporty person
at7 one who is good at sports!
phand, TY

good evening everyone!
yw
Hi dawg!

yw
rh7,56 anyone?
a kind of Root Book
it's my icon clue gwen. iris, some grasses, clover are of this type of root system
(hmmm, no one wants to share their weboggle name -- must be <scl> who always seems to win!)
rh-all-one-piece? that's not working LOL
(knows nothing about plants or roots)
lbd -- here's another clue like yours (I picked it right after the flip)
My Webboggle name is the same as my Babble name. I just don't boggle much since I found Babble!!
first part sounds like a grain, then add the alternate snake sounding letter and h*** on the range
ok rhymes with rye+ area but change the n to m
jilli and a lovely clue that is too!

silence here -- no clues needed? Guess I'll go get my supper -- bbl
Jillibus, the town is either poughquag or Beekman. It is near Hopewell Junction and it's in Dutchess County
Min -- I know the area well! My aunt had a summer place near Hopewell Junction and my cousins and I used to visit there. So lovely and so handy to NYC!
Apparently my monkeys only know real words. Hi everyone, and 'bye--guess I'll go and do some work or something.
hi and bye, frog!
hi everyone!
darn, i missed feather
sl 6/33, please?
hi gran
hi nonnie! what you might call a dirtbag, ends with a vowel
oops, gran = fran
lol, figured that nonnie, it's not the worst thing i've been called! :-)
lol, fran and thanks for the clue--I thought I tried every form of the word!
hi fran
yw nonnie!
hi jilli! i thought you headed out for dinner
Wow, Fran, I was just looking for that, who knew it was a word!
relarion, nothing surprises me anymore with this game.
shah
Sorry sorry
someone is probably thanking you relarion! no need to be sorry.
well, fran, I was going to and then heard from Minveryork that she was pleased with a house right near where my aunt used to live and I used to vidit -- plus I knew the area very well even in dog-show years.
You're too kind, Fran :=)
so I got all excited and had to look at my Road Atlas and reminisce!
you just can't resist a good conversation can you jilli? :-)
shahzam! ;o)
jilli, do you still watch the dog shows? the westminster dog show is this weekend i think on USA network.
Right -- and with Minver there are so many coincidences -- she now lives right near where my parents and three aunts used to live -- one of them being the one with the summer place we all went to.
i might be wrong about the dates, but i know it's on USA.
I love to watch the dog shows but it's hard to get Westminster live here
that's cool jilli! next you'll find out you two are actually cousins!
We don't get USA network
darn
yes indeed, fran!
the AKC/Eukanuba show is on Animal Planet/Discovery, do you get either of those channels?
it's not on this weekend though.
and it's definitely not as big as the westminster
Yes, but I forget the dates of that show -- it didn't exist when I was really active in the game
yes, it's only in it's 3rd or 4th year.
when you owned great danes did you show them yourself?
Westminster is also known as The Garden because it's held at Madison Square Garden. I went to several of them and met some Great Dane icons from England there, as well as well known US breeders who became good friends.
*peeks in one last time before bed*
hey heather!
hiya fran!
how are you feeling? i saw your post that said you weren't 100%
i think it's a cold actually more than pregnancy, but it's got me run down
mom took daniel this afternoon, and i slept right after school
Hubby Trev and I handled our own Danes in Canada and youngsters in the States, but used pro handlers for adults. When asked why, I used to ask people if they would ride their own horses in the Kentucky Derby.
take care of yourself feather and the little tyke inside!
sounds like a good nap!!!!!
yeah, i was always sniffly when i was pregnant, something about the mucus membranes being inflamed from hormones.
it was heavenly. i've been sneezing all day, which is unusual for me
good comeback jilli!
now i've got a post nasal drip thing going on. lovely.
yuck, glad your mom could help out though.
hi lbd!
and probably not much you can take to help dry some of that yuckiness up. (((hugs)))
Hi Frannie
me too. i was soooo glad she offered to take him for a bit. which is a sign of how sick i truly felt, i usually don't like to send him off on school days
not really, though i usually don't do much in the way of cold meds anyway, so i'm not missing out at least on that
pregnancy with a toddler is hard when you're so tired, but you still have to take care of the little guy.
well if it's a cold drink lots of liquids and try to flush it out.
Take care, feather -- and now I'm going to warm up some chicken breast, sugar-snap peas, sliced carrots rice, and sauce made from chicken stock...back after that :)
yup, drained my cranapple juice a few minutes ago. my plan is to rest this weekend.
just not 2 gallons of water at a time.
mmmm, sounds yummy jilli!
later jilli!
lol, no! my bladder couldn't take that
later, jilli
at least you have an appetite, feather! And fran -- are you referring to that woman who overdrank water?
oh, i saw that, the radio contest?
she wanted to wei
yes jilli, hard to place blame in that situation really.
ghastly
*F*I*R*E*W*O*R*K*S*
now I' GONE!!!
good word for it jilli
yay nonnie!!!!
yay nonnie!
lol, bye again jilli!
YAY Nonnie!

hello again ping
languages are a great love of mine as well... I've also dabbled in korean and arabic... but those will take a deeper commitment than I have now
hi nonnie

button, what the brits call a truck change first letter to c
CO6 = female garment
that's right lbd, the cutie in your icon yesterday.
there's a jewish tradition of waiting until the child turns 3 to give them their first haircut, but pearl has crazy curly hair, and i think her first haircut was at about that age
I have the female garmet, it is the other CO6
carrie has so little hair, though, it may be no problem waiting until her 3rd birthday
are you jewish ping?
yes, you?
ping, we had to trim her bangs so they would stay out of her eyes. she won't let me put pins or elastics in her hair
button, did you see my clue?
nah... norwegian and irish... relgiously, I lean towards eastern orthodox
does your new job start next week, smooth?
yes FRAn, i don't read Stephen King, so I don't get it
sort of... I am the only one who does the night shift, so until they replace me, I will start the first couple hours of the day training, and then finish the evening in my old podt
co 7.32?
Filipinos won't cut a baby's hair until they turn 1, not sure why, they have superstitions about everything
I've got 2 weeks, though to get fully trained before I have to really jump in for prep in our new catalogue
relarion, a smaller girdle
diminutive form of the co 6 before it, relarion

A dirty old man might be called a SL**** ball... but change the last vowel
someone who is a scumbag is a sl***e change last letter to 4th vowel
smooth, if the scumbag is a female would that make her a sl***a?
lol quite possibly dawg.
actually, I think that would make them most of my ex girlfreinds. ;)
!!! rofl
man! my latest ex... my ex fiancee... I still love her... like a sister now, but before her I made some DUMB choices. lol

I still love a good beer, mind you... I'm a wisconsinite... can't deny that. ;) but I really watch myself now
clue for the last ta 4 please (it is my last word)
I like myself... of course, as with all of us, there are things I would change... but I'm always looking... you can't grow if you stop

None of us had a fever, just stuffy noses, and the adults had extreme fatigue
me too, I knew when I heard the V8 comment
laughed at that commercial
HA!
My kiddos keep passing an odd flu around, just can't seem to get over it. And a tummy bug to boot.
a friend i swa yesterday had a case of the flu - the real flu - i hadn't heard of any in PA

I'm one word away... Then I have to go finish my taxes. They are stumping me a little this year, I refuse to fork over cash for someone else to do them though.
I only just turned on the computer 2 minutes ago

ah........you are good then - this wasn't an easy one
rime
Oatmeal raisin please.
mine is chocolate chip
no!!!
gee bunny i don't even have all of my forms yet...at least i don't remember getting bank statements yet
It was tricky, but when I was on before, a lot of clues were flying through the log, so I was able to benefit. I don't chat at work so they don't have a reason to lock out the site
tell: you owe jean one dollar - her address is in the log about 11:00 AM
I'm completely self employed last year, no W2's.
what sort of work do you do woulf?
hey i saw a good concert last week and got to review two great groups yesterday...anyone ever heard of the readiators, mofro, or ollabelle?
Yay me (in Cosmo voice)!! All done.
TO - so you saw the radiator? where? & how were they? (old?)
pappa -- I work for a company called Enersys -- they manufacture and repair forklift batteries and chargers
yay, bunny! nice wrk matey!
Yayyyy for bunny!!!!
wd bunny!
no kidding! in the suite next to my company's is a forklift battery manufacturerr. lol
No, but that's no big suprise. I only drive to the "big city" for our annual Chucky Cheese visit.

Hi Fran

Bunny How is the no smoking going??
hi dorens hey kanga
hi smooth! hi vicious! hi wolfie! hi kanga! hi TO! hi dorens (thanks!)! hi hk!
and I also work one day a week at Lenscrafter's as a lab tech, though after this past week, whether they will give me any hours is in definite doubt
hi helen, sorry was distracted when you arrived... hi dorens
Excellent! Think I'm over the worst of the cravings, not wanting them near as much.
yes she is! hi dorens!
thanks TO!
too bad, woulf, but at least you've got the other job
where are all our brit friends? think they got blown away?
good going bunny.... i've been there...it's hard but certainly worth it!
lol hk
Quitting was one of the hardest things I have ever done. My thoughts have been with you during this.
yes the last time i quit it was awful
hmm, since it's about 5 am in the UK, not many of them would be up right now.
I saw the wind over there on the news, unreal! Hope they are okay.
The cold I just got rid of had me so distracted that I failed to call to let them know I couldn't work my shift until only 15 mins before it started -- hopefully a written apology will help mollify my boss
hi helen, kanga, owl smooth and all others.. i'm here for my final two and my eyes are barely open
oops, there goes the glasses in an hour guarantee! :-)
I quit everytime I got pregnant, don't know why I even picked em back up. I found a cig in my 10 year old daughter purse and decided it was time to put a STUPID and expensive habit to rest.
ouch! here, weather related abcenses are generally mroe tolerated
oh the sickness cold, not temperature. lol nevermind
Dorens, need a clue or two?
But, I have made it clear at every job I have ever worked that my family is my first priority, and if they can't deal with that, I don't really need them -- there are always other places to work
bunny, you can never let your guard down .NEVER
going to try to tough it out firs, tthanks bunny
that's true wolf
is that the first time you failed to show? and at least you gave them a few minutes. not much, but it's not like you failed to show completely
hey dorens - going up to NJ for my father's birthday in two weeks
I know, I just didn't realize. I think they are getting older faster, sigh. I told her I was dissapointed. What more could I say? Mommy does it.
sorry, the kids turned off the internet connection there, hi to helen and dorens1
that
that
s the first weekend in february? i should be around. let me know
my father told me it was one of the great guils of his life when he found out i had taken up smoking, because we had alwsya been after him to quit when we were kids
pappa -- the prob is that my LC store is run more like an extended clique than as a professional business, therefore my failure was seen as a personal betrayal -- especially since we are short staffed and that night they had noone else to work in the lab
lol kanga! that used to happen to me all the time, my daughter finally lost interest in the on/off switch on the power strip.
ahhh... I'm sorry to hear that, sounds like a wierd work environment
mine was being energy conscious and making the main computer sleep... they're very ecology minded at her school
i guess you can't get upset at that kanga! :-)
Anyway, as a result of last weekend, I am not on the schedule for the next three weeks, which means that next week I will not be working on Sebastian's 1st birthday :)
noooo... guess not...
GW, walk in crying, tell them they don't care about your feeling or personal problems. Make a scene. It works, promise.
It is, pappa -- I have been trying to figure out if I could do without them for months, but the money is helpful
Bunny My son was about 5 yrs older when i caught him smoking. It is disappointing and i think it hurts a little also. Fortunately, it was just a phase for him. My entire family is smokefree now.
I empathize about he environment, woulfe... I love my company, I love working in the arts, but sometimes it's run like yours as well... the idea of culture is behind every new hire... not "culture" like music or anything like that, but how well the personality would fit in the comapny, and work environment
got my fireworks... would love to chat with you good people, but it's been a long day and tomorrow will be even longer. howvever, i will make time for babble (natch--- a day is not complete without it, right?) g'night all and sleep well.
night dorens!
go dorens!
That's great, trying to get the hubby to quit to. He's right behind me, doing well. She hadn't lit the cig, maybe it was just to awe her friends with. At least I cought it in time.
and goodnight, dorens...
yeah dorens, good night!
Yay Dorens!!
LOL, bunny -- I don't operate that way, if my work ethic and quality isn't enough for them, then I don't really need them
goodnight, dorens...i'll let you know. see you tomorrow!
Yayyy for Dorens... and g'night -- sleep well
Hello all again
h jili
Don't get me wrong, I have a great work ethic. You get those employers who are just so intolerable, it's fun to make em squirm. I'm petty, I know.
hey jilli! hope dinner was good
Hey jilli!
Hi Jilli
hi jilli
hi jili!
not petty, bunny -- human ;-)
hiya jili
woulfie -- is Sebastian about to be One? It seems like yesterday when you were expecting him!
FIREWORKS! VERY EXCELLENT!
8 days away, jilli
Dinner was lovely, thanks, fran, and now I'm enjoying a humbug
well done nuuk... I mean Gothaab. ;)
i have 5 left, 3 are 4's & i can
WTG godthaab
t seem to monkey them
Yayyy for godthaab!!
YAY godthaab!!!
I think the cig was for show also. She is way too young to even want to smoke. I had to pick my battles so I did not make a scene over him smoking..just told him I was disappointed. Fortumately his desire was to please and not rebel against his parents.
What do they start with HK?
any i can help with helen? (unlikely, tho)
Smooth Papa, you are the first person to get Godthaab!
I didn't make a scene either, hoping I did the right thing. Either way, they aren't as available.
lol got... I'm in wisconsin... I've been infatuatied with areas colder than here for a long time... that means I know a lot about greenalnd, alsaka, cnada, and siberia. lol
g,r,s,m
I was in the unlucky genration when the thing was our kids rebelled against their parents and though trying to please them was unacceptable
the g4 that turns, hk?
if there was a city of a quarter million or half million around the qaanaq area, that would be my mecca
ie gy4, hk
got that one
hey, smooth -- parts of Canada are much warmer than wisconsin
i should just go get the list
some parts are... my areas of interst are the yukon NW terr. and nunavut.
there are two g4 that turn, diff ending vowel
the gh + to be, hk?
although I did enjoy a good say ini wooland caribou Prov. park in norhtern ontarion... near red lake
Well, I am in Canada right now, and I am not a big fan of the cold. Give me Hell any day!
jilibus that was certainly my philosophy. I don't know how my sons turned out to be such good kids. Or maybe I just don't know all they did get into!!
ty kanga - that's the one!
lol... I remember a day we had -40 F.... which coincuidentially is the exact same as -40 C.... I loved it!
I get it, smooth, but US people tend to generalise and arrive in steaming Montreal in July with skis
Hi jilli andbabblers--- first one I havefinished all week - sooo FIREWORKS!!
I've been to Alaska, but only in the summer. I think they had a heat wave when I was in Juneau.
absolutely my pleasure, helen
woohoo, d8illy!
hehe jili... I've been there too... but i prefer the barren arctic regions. lol
YAYAYAY dilly!!!
If I could find a good job in fairbanks, I'd move there, gothaab, just to enjoy the winters
I was in St. Petersburg last year when it got down to about - 30. That was cold!
or whitehorse or yellowknife
Ugh to cold and winters
mi + do, re, mi, fa, **, la
How long does it take to be good at this
I spent a few months in russia as well in the winter... a city called nizhni novgorod... used to be gorki.... about 6 hours east of moscow.. great winters there
ditto, jili!!
I'm with Jilibus on that.
i need the last mi5
Joe, been here awhile, and I still stink :)
not me! bring em on!
I have 22 left
I enjoy the "cold" winter, but ours are few and far between.
me too jilli - nix to snow and cold
from Ezra Pound -- Winter is icumen in, Lhude sing Goddamm, Raineth drop and staineth slop, And how the wind doth ramm! Sing: Goddamm.
Joemammy -- it all depends on how you define good -- if you mean having fun while hunting and chatting then you can be a master in no time
2nd game
i think it's a nautical term (a mast, maybe?) mi + last letter + printers measure
tried yesterday but ran out of time
tx kanga
But if you mean being able to locate all the words in a grid in a ridiculously short period of time like some of our more obsessed and talented fellow Babblers, then it could take a lifetime ;-D
Need clues Joe??
what happened to" loudly sing cuckoo"?
firewords !!! yay!
didn't take me long woulf ;)
I've been to Russia a few times, but never out that way. I would like to see that part of the country.
Yayyy for helen
rh?
!!!
yes helenk!
dilly -- that was sumer is icumen in...
rh + l**ard (reptile) + h***work
ty
YAY Helen!!!
wtg helen!
Nizhni is just where the volga and oko rivers meet... I'd like to actually head out into siberia, but nizhni was great! 3rd largest city in russia, but i was closed to foreigners, and most russians during the cold war, due to sensitive industry there... a city that many peole died trying to get into... now it's comparable to somehwere like cleveland or milwaukee... bu t it is a fun city :)
go, helen!!!!
So it was, but I don.t remember your winter song!!
yw??
SMDNJV do you need to have the pay version to play this
Dilly -- you'll see it again in Bridge Tricks next week
Are you Russian? How did you get into the city?
nah joe... you get a couple of exra benifis, ut you can always play for free
Sorry, put on coffee. Congrats HK!!
does anyone need a clue?
Joe -- paying for pro gives you a few perks, but with the help of the log, you don't NEED it
No....you have two weeks free trial which allow you to see the tile stats. after that you just see the grid.
az?
I got in first through a school exchange program... I'm only 26, so I was there in 2000. things have changed much since the cold war ended... its' open now, but still retains a bit of mystery
Hey Woulf noticed you are from Lansdale
Dilly -- it's not MY winter song, but Ezra Pound's, and he was considered persona non grata for many years
Are you local to me, Joe?
a + z4/10
just moved from Hatfield to PGH in July
spent the millenium new year in red square... what a blast is that!!!
a + z4/10
Lot more perks with going Pro. well worth the one time payment.
I swear I tried that. TY.
z4/10 +zo + n**k at nite
Gaoing pro (a one-time small fee) helps maintain this site -- well worth it for no other reason IMHO
I remember bits - will look up on net.
I agree jilli, only reason I went pro in Sudoku.
sorry, Joe -- I am a relative new import to PA --- have only lived here just over 2 years and have not had much opportunity to explore, what with having two small kids and lots of bills
so I don't recognise PGH -- Hatfield, I know
Same here that is why I move to PGH. Much more affordable plus the traffic there was getting on my nerves
I got snowed into PA in 95 with the in-laws for almost a month, bad blizzard. Will never return. It is beautiful though.
Pittsburgh
thank you --- I thought so, but needed the confirmation
I bet! I think travel has opened up greatly in the last little while. I was there a couple of times in the early 90s and foreigners couldn't go anywhere. I was staying with a Russian family, so I had some perks. I remember standing in a train station and an American came up to me. He was completely lost because he couldn't read Cryllic. They didn't make travel easy in those days.
hey, I got fireworks1
where were you, bunny? if on 95 then close to us
Yay kanga!
Bloomsburg
heh.. it's still not a breeze! I did have to learn the cyrillic alphabet, and a bit of russian.
Yaaaayy Kanga!!
but it is easier than the when the cia tried to get in in the 70s. lo
Yayyyy for Kanga!!
YAY kanga!!!
Been to PItts too, Stephen had some contract work there so I'd drive up to see him.
really like it here
brb
Yes, I've heard stories about Isvistia (sic) and people being followed.
much different than it was 20 years ago when I went to school at Pitt
lol I did have a runin with russian mafia, but not the government. lol
then you were on the pa tpke or maybe rte 80
I bet that's a great story!
Lived on the PA turnpike for 9 months till the house sold
I'm not real sure, was only 16. I just remember our flight being canceled, it was a little after Thanksgiving I think, roads were closed down. Only time I've ever seen more than an inch of snow at once!
whoo hoo fireworks
back on forth through the mountains in the winter..ugh
Yay danbit!
gonna watch some tv - see you all at the flip
Bye Helen
Yay danbit
comcast cut us off for a few hours, I wasn't sure I would get back on under the wire :)
It was the first imte I had ever met the in-laws, Stephen and I had only been married a month or so. I was trapped, lol.
heh... yeah... I was flying into domodedovo airport in moscow... I was talking with another american on the plane, who metnioned something about mob influence at the airport... ijoked about "what isn't under mob influence" in russia... after i get off the plane, I'm having a ciggarette, and two gorillas come up to me and aski if I am Paul from Amrica... I am... and they asked if I was Paul (we'll say) johnson. I responded... "no.. not johnson my name is "******* " Pulled my passport out and sounded out my last name. they verifify..... "you are paul from america... bu not paul johnson..." Yes, I said... Paul *******.... "ok," they say" enjoy your stay in moscow."
Howdy!
it is a beautiful day here, so i'm off to enjoy outside with the kids... see you all later, guys
danbit nothing is more maddening for the internet of the cable to go out when your are enjoying something.
is ren or nut still here?
can someone help me with the ag5/14, but not the happy one?
swv, they are the same with the exception of the last letter.
ag 5 fill in straigt across the line
swv, change the last letter, it's the plastic thing on the end of your shoelaces
it is the plastic tip to a shoelace, swviola
Thanks!!
I guess not TO, musta scared em off.
sorry guys, disappeared without saying anything earlier.
I never knew what that was called...
bad babble chat log ettiquette
woulf, maybe lit tomorrow?
you learn something every day in babble swv! :-)
hi swv!
Well, I give up for today. Maybe I will get better the next time. Leaving with 21 on the board
Thanks for the help

bye joemammy!
Hey Pappa!
night vicious!
did everyone finish?
yup, nan
you definitely will get better with practice, Joe -- Welcome to the fold and have a good night
Bye Bunny
Wow! I can believe it. Once I was on Arbat Street and I saw a Russian trying to buy something with US dollars. This was in the early 90s. Out of nowhere, two KGB officers grabbed him, and took him away while he was screaming "I'm sorry. I'll rubles!! Help!" They carted him off down the street; nobody intervened
G'night bunny -- dream deep
i saw the word "eramitic" used on a blog today and i was so pleased that i actually knew what it meant.
lol gothaab, same now... but with mafia, not kgb. lol
Hi Grey Woulf -- did you have a good holiday season?
gothaab, where in canada are you?
bye bunny hi nan
Toronto
Hi temple
Not too bad, c-nan -- father in law was in hospital just before Xmas, but was home for the holiday -- no other drama so I count it among one of the good memories
wb nan!
you know, got... I've been to 14 other countries most of the states, and a few provinces, but I've never been to toronto. lol
we played travel musical chairs with our family this season, but managed to have at least a 2-day visit with everyone.
please, please help--clues for the hi6--both. They're driving me nuts!
It's a great place. Lots to do.
which provinces, smooth?
That sounds exhausting, but fun, nan :)
hi+hook+french salt -- scramble for the second one
gothaab, great talking eoth you... hopefully i'll see you here another time. SWV, woulf, everyone else, I've gotta run off... good night all...
the only dif between the HI's is the positions of the last two letters
nan, quebec, ontario, nova scotia, and maitoba
night smooth!
ah -- as a photographer, you must visit BC sometime!
Farewell, pappa -- see you soon
aloha, nan.. buens noches, bon soir, shalom, guten nacht, a Spakoynigh noch!
that's the one province i've been to, BC.

russia, nan... followed by slovenia
Fran's was chinese, right?
Same here. See you later.
ahhh.... gottccha!
never been there --- keep going back to France -- we like it so much!
slovenia, and croatia area absolute gems! but I love russia
id've been lousey durnig mccarthyism. lol
*poof*
must go change my icon -- back at the flip :)
Poland was gorgeous...at least out in the country
i thought the same about Germany swv.
I am getting jealous -- it seems like everyone has been out of the country at least once except me :(
me too! I had the greatest time out in Erding which is about an hour outside of Munich
back again -- just noticed your icon, fran -- adorable little girl! Also googled Kosraea -- sounds so unspoiled...
hi all!
Don't worry Woulf...I am embarassed to admit that I have only been to 8 states and have been out west only once!
I don't remember all the names swv, but my friends were stationed at Rose Barracks, which was a bit of a drive from Munich.
hi kier!
thanks jilli! yes, Kosrae is still very much a tropical paradise.
Hi Kier
even that beats me, swv -- but not by as much, so I feel a little better :)
Is Kosraean a derivative of an asian language?
kier love your clue!
no, Kosrae is a little island in Micronesia.
Hi Kier
smooth -- during McCarthyism I was living in Canada but often visited my family in NY -- crossing the border into the States we had to say where we were born (not our citizenship) and because I was born in China (but of British parents) I lied and said "Montreal" or I might have been detained as an enemy alien.
wolfie, i was born on an island, to go anywhere was out of the country!!
LOL, Fran!
jilli, smooth left already.
oh well
very interesting jilli.
i am so ready for the flip... and i only have 39 words
very horrible and unreasonable, I thought
lol kier! do you want clues for more?
very boring to everyone else, I guess
hi everyone!
hi flyndog!
well, off to fix my icon for tomorrow
later jilli
hey o2!
Hi flyndog!
swv, have you always lived in New York?
the reason i ask, you would fit right in in Guam.
no...NJ originally...my mom is Korean
I'm watching the news and we are about to get our 5th snowfall in 5 weeks, separate storms on Sat and Sun. sigh.
interesting conversation about countries... I can't decide what my favorite non-US country is... I like all the ones I've been to!
no fran, i am doing this and watching a movie and dealing with a squirmy 4 year old and and and
aah, you could pass for Filipino
i get it kier!
Fran...people always ask me if I am from the Philippines or from Hawaii or Mexico...
i love Italy flyndog
haven't been there yet, but it sounds wonderful
i'm sure swv!
I want to do Italy, France and Spain
so far I have been to Germany, Switzerland and Holland, with a layover in Britain, so I saw the inside of Heathrow =)
i'd like to go to France and Spain also, as well as the UK since that's where my dad's ancestors are from.
I have yet to see Italy...I am saving it for my future honeymoon....whenever that may be ;-)
and on this continent, Mexico and Canada
and lived in Hawaii for a while
sounds like a great honeymoon! what if he's always wanted to go to Antarctica??? =)
well, that will affect your choice of husband too, if they don't want to go to Italy, then no deal
Before I had kids I had a dream of taking a year off to tour of the world to visit various sites of spiritual importance -- however that is now on hold, most likely indefinitely
agreed, Fran!!
GW, your kids would probably benefit greatly from such a tour
JK
true, but unfortunately, I don't have the income to consider it
flyndog, when did you live in Hawaii?
1973 and 1974, Fran
wolfie, we'll cross our fingers for a lottery win in your future
of course I was just a KID!!! =0
that reminds me -- Powerball is over 200 mill -- I need to get a ticket tomorrow!
hee hee, of course flyndog!
GW, my hubby has plans for that money... he wants to buy a submarine
crazy man
woulf...what states does your powerball cover??
were your parents in the military flyndog? (that's the first thing people ask me when i say i was born in Guam)
I am not sure, smv -- I barely remember that we have it
I did see the pearl harbor memorial when I was there, it was pretty new then
when does the new puzzle come on?
oops - -sorry swv :)
heh, no my mom and dad were divorced and my mom was following a dream
brb
I always get asked if my parents were missionaries when I tell them I was born in China
how did you happen to be born in China, jilli?
no prob woulf. :-)
They were not -- dad was in banking and my mother was a language teacher
adhd flip is midnite central time.
hey adhd!
flyndog -- a long story!
there's a countdown upper right corner of the grid ADHD.
nice icon, fran!
yes, fran, very cute!
and so calm for her haircut!
oh yeah, my parents weren't military either, dad was a professor of anthropology and met my mom while he was researching his thesis in Kosrae.
flyndog -- refresh for the new icon(s)
thanks jilli! i think you're still seeing the older icon flyndog, but thanks also!
jilli, what's yours? is it just a mosaic?
hmmm, I refreshed and it is still the cute kid
oh, unless I click on it, nm
can anyone help me with the HI 6's??
swv, hi + consonant + ***l things on ebay
the other one just transposes the last two letters
great clue, fran
first three letters sound like feminine pronoun
thanks jilli, i tried the rhymes with practice session earlier and it didn't work
sweet! Thanks Fran!
yw swv!
I'll see folks at the flip -- ttfn
bye wolfie!
cul8r woulf!
later woulf
is viola part of your name or your instrument? i ask because my best friend's name is Viola.
bye GW
bye woulf
it's my instrument...my name is actually Sara
I wish I had a cool name like Viola!!
yeah, isn't it a nice name?
who will strangle Tom for me? *grrrrrrr*
Sara is a lovely name
oh sorry, hi....
Oh, why, stid???
just say the word stid, we know people.
um...i mean, what ever for stid?
He said that he needed to pick kid#1 up from the school dance "between 9:30 and ten" -- kid calls in tears at 9:30 saying he was supposed to be picked up at nine!!!!!
(Sara is a lovely name)
thanks Jilli! I was named after my great-grandmother, she was the one who got me into music in the first place
*grrrrrrr* <---- mama growl
Hi Stid!
oh! well then it's an awesome name.
I also love the sound of the viola
oooh, stid... beatings are in order
I guess it is, Fran
okay, that's strangle worthy stid, send address and 2K in unmarked bills to.....
awww, poor stidmatt! {{{hugs}}}
I had an elderly cousin (died a few years back) named Viola -- she was as sweet as the flower!
thanks everyone. Stid-Tom is definitely sleeping on the couch tonight. *folds arms for emphasis*
fran!!!!
lol stid
LOL fran... and thanks. I was almost in tears, too. :-(
public beatings, and rotten vegetable throwing
FIREWORKS!!! finally.
thanks 02, don't suppose you can train the dogs to go after things other than frisbees? *wicked look*
That happened to me once Stid...I was the kid...my mom was more upset than I was, I think. My dad did sleep on the couch for several days!!
How about a pillory?
i'm sure you were stid! i've been left places past pick-up time and it's not fun, one time i was waiting with my best friend Viola. (how's that for a tie-in)
Well done slippers!!
yeeha ballerina!
YAY balletslippers!!!
yay slippers!!!
YAY balletslippers!!!!!
lol Fran
my parents forgot me while i was in time-out one time. kind of traumatic as a few hours later i came out crying and they TOLD ME they had forgotten about me...
I am most impressed... 37 left here, and obviously, I have given up =)
awww, that's sad slippers.
oh -- awful, ballet!
don't give up! (of course I have been babbling for hours here since i was feeling sick today)
oh ballet slippers {{{hug}}}
I forgot to tell my mom there was no school once, and she didn't believe me, dropped me off anyway...
they're here. I'll go give kiddo a hug. brb
I had to walk about 15 blocks to her office building...
not that big a deal. i have fabulous parents. I believe that is the worst thing they ever did to me.
I was 6.
aww baflyn! that's terrible!
aw, doggie!!!
flyndog, that is awful! how long were you there alone?
yep, I was not a happy camper
haven't thought about that in a long time! =)
what a brave 6-year old!
it probably only took me about an hour to find her building, fran
anyone need clues and such before i head off to bed?
yes *pats little 6 year old self on the head*
oh my, i hope that hasn't stirred some repressed memories.
I was very brave
hi all. I need the r6/21; and the first co6/21
i hadn't thought about my mom not picking me up on time either.
LOL, I've been dealing pretty successfully with my repressed memories for years now =)
that is so sad O2!!
autumn, edge of a mug + n*** on your face
co 6/21 is a like a girl's name but with a different first vowel.
character-building, viola
I hear ya!!
co6/21 is like a unisex name, think stephen king's ill-fated prom queen, change A to O
its also a bit spinny in the grid. all close together.
I have tons of character! =)
hithcock's ca*** -- change a to an o
arghghgh i just put one chlid to bed, put laundry in dryer/folded another load of laundry, picked up misc stuff around the house, etc etc. while my husband held down the couch with my 8 year old. I WISH I WERE A MAN!!
at least he took care of one of the kids...
oh no, kier, be careful what you wish for!
don't you just want to strangle them sometimes kier?
ty, ty, ty ,ty I didn't think i would finish before the flip. I am quite proud of myself....no list until the last 6
back. {{{kierlex}}} no you don't, you don't like sports that much...
hi again nan!
awesome autumn!
yeah, kierlex, Fran has "contacts" and for 2K and...
YAY autumn moon!
yay autumn!! good job not using the list too!!
Congrats Autumn
yeeha autumn!
hi fran -- you ain't seen nothin' yet --- grumpier old men isn't fiction ;)
i'm off to bed. night all! happy babbling!
thanks nan, something to look forward to?
I almost never use the list... too much trouble flipping back and forth AND watching tv AND keeping up with the chat! =0
nite ballerina
thanks fran. Well, I am off to watch TV now. See y'all tomorrow. ni-night *waving buh-bye*
sweet dreams ballet!
bye autumn!
10 minutes -- guess for tomorrow? -- 162
nite autumn
148

{{{O2}}} when I was six, the school was at the end of the block and turn left... or through the gate at the corner of the school yard and through the hedge at the back of the neighbors'!
lucky you, stid!
197 tomorrow, three S, one D, no E or I...
234
Rodents of unusual...
it could have been worse, I lived in a relatively small town, no crime to speak of, I was safe, just scared
well, there were hornets in the hedge...
I'm really just waiting for the flip...
As you wish, Douglas...
oh yeah, and no 9s, 10s, 11s, 12s or 13s.
hey douglas!
oooh hornets in the hedge...
HMMM. I think i could scratch up $2k... or i could just do it myself. i think it would be justifiable, haha.
Hello Fran!
yep. I think I only tried the "shortcut" once...
my grandmother had rats in the dining room, or so I convinced myself! =)
I always RAN through the dining room as fast as possible, leaping high with every step
you'n'me both kierlex!
oh my! *funny mental image of O2 walking in mid-air*
There was a Zippy the Pinhead cartoon discussing the little shoelace thingies...
lol flyndog!
trying, anyway =)
was that today douglas?
maybe that's why you like your dogs to fly?
and then they have NO CLUE why we get mad. whatEVER!
anyone want actual clues any more?
LOL maybe!
great picture btw douglas, or is that the miniature from "Spinal Tap"?
actual clues... hmmm... it's a concept
Not today...Shelf Life was commenting that most of the buttons in the world were made in one Chinese city...
i know kier, i have to explain to my husband why i'm upset.
well, I have all day tomorrow to clean house. I took today off and watched an old Fred Astaire movie this afternoon!
It's a leftover from the day when stones were the theme...
i see.
kier, i thought i was just being sensitive because i was used to having my own way for 35 years, but i guess it's not just me.
Fran the icon for the Muslim New Year is beautiful -- is that the new theme?
How was Fred Stid - love those old movies
He (Shelf Life) thought they should go into business making a5/14s, and corner the world's market, but Zippy was still hung up on people in Cincinnati being unable to button their pocket flaps if anything happened to that city in China
no fran, it's not just you =)
hi OHJ!
hi Fran
oh, he was marvelous, of course -- corny as all get-out and gorgeous to watch. I saw "Royal Wedding" (yet again) and loved it even more than the last ten times...
that sounds pretty funny douglas.
i'll be right back, kids want soybeans
Sounds better than my day Stid...... maybe tomorrow an oldie but goodie in my future - hmmmm
no fran, i think they do it on purpose. it's like a game. kind of like 'wind her up and watch her go'
