some therapy form that works with eye movements, it is supposed to disconnect traumatic memories from their emotional context.
just googled it -- very interesting -- sorry you need it, sprite
I have a friend whose counselor used that after her brother died...
to help treat panic attacks
I am totally freaked out because I cannot find that "one single image" to start with!
did it help, Dee?
it sounded so bizarre, but, yes, it did help her
The current issue of TIME has a fascinating feature on how the brain works, including what meditation does...
that is good to hear, it sounds so bizarre to me too
accompanied by an antidepressant med and counseling
oh, I prefer meditation!
she had tried meditation and some conventional counseling.... they didn't work
I don't want the medication, but I get counseling together with the EMDR. O dear, got to go... don't want to. Scared. Let me rephrase that in the style of Ghostbusters. Paralysed beyond the capacity for rational thought.
flip, i should't be here, good luck sprite, and bye all!!
bye mva good luck sprite
the Buddhist form of meditation apparently actually changes some parts of the brain
really off now - thanks :)

Good luck Sprite - maybe you can talk it through before anything starts

to big...think like quite a few I can only spare 1/2 hour here and there...if the puzzles are going to be this large I need a different site
jil said the 10 starts with re
i started on jan. 14 and this is the first one this large since i started (which was a lg one then too)
Love the puzzles usually great way to spend my tea breaks..but this large would have to sit here for hours..no good for me

bye jilli and Fran:)
There was an answer in the New York Times Sunday Crossword, where the clue was "solve logical proofs while dining out" and the answer was "derive in restaurants"
Hell hath no fury...
Did you figure the clue out Douglas?
Indeed yes! It was part of a puzzle titled "Kareem of the Crop" where the themed answers were things where an extra vowel was added between some consonant and an r, to get a new expression
That's rather clever and fun by the sounds of it
F'rinstance, one clue was "terse account of what happened at the raptor petting zoo?" and the answer was "Falcon caressed"
I was thinking it would be lacerations and hospitalizations myself
That is great - or falcon creast?
right got to dash bbl happy babbling everyone:)
It was a play on Falcon Crest, a US soap opera from the 1980's
Nite (morning) jean - have a good day
thanks angh will do:)
Unfortunately we did get Falconcrest in the colonies Douglas
See you later jean...
Somehow our cultural output gives people the impression that America is a wretched hive of scum and villainy
It's not? Now you have disappointed me
At the moment I think that your "cultural" output suggests there are so many murders to solve ... CSI, CSI Miami, NY etc tect
Oh Bones, Numbers, what's those other ones ... LOL
got the pe 9
easy for me.... an anatomy term
Good morning/evening all.
anyone need a clue for it?

+ word meaning bone
Got it, thanks...
Hi haz
Hello Angb - how are you doing?
Not bad, haven't been at this long.
It looks like a nice puzzle, not too many late alphabet lettters.
I don't usually have too many problems with these biggies, however that is oftne an illusion. But I am finding this one a little sticky - maybe my head today.
I'm still in first look fever...
The stuff one puts on a bow before playing the violin...
hello everyone....why can't I have re + co4/5...the roadwork engineers are always doing it around here !!
Hi karys - same in NZ - it's a sport to knock them down!
Good morning Karys. They dig up, they fill in, they dig up, they fill in.
That's why the roads are so good in the UK
that's it Haz....and they re co4/5 !
Hi all. There is a re + co4.5 though
hi lynxx....thats the one that made me want the other one !
re8/50... cash
I have tried another re + co4.5 about 10 times --- when you rec**** a product cause theres no margin!
Robert Heinlein said...A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, **** a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects.
just tried that myself
hi lynxxx
u guys r losing me w/the road and the margins
lol ADHD... it's just nonsense anyway !
When Harriet Miers was nominated for the Supreme Court, there was a cartoon in the Star-Tribune of President Bush playing with a "My Little *****," brushing Harriet's hair, etc.
Douglas - very wise (except for the last 2 should be able tos)
Hi Ang
hello
Hi her
how are we all
Just read through your job description - glad to see nothing there about being able to sew.
It was from "The Notebooks of Lazarus Long," the main character in "Time Enough for Love"
I give that quote to my children when we cook something together...
wha??? dozed off......it's after 4am.... i think i am exhibiting signs of being an addict
The fighting Uruk-Hai is in the grid...

It's a Lord of the Rings reference, herin...
i'm half way. time for a couple hourssleep
i know but my brain is dribbled of somewhere
And yes, it's utterly stupid that these evil critters are in the dictionary, while Treebeard and his kind are not...

Bye Karys.

bye karys
Don't know - she does use icing sugar though - is that normal?
larlie, yes they are both fine.
Bye karys

Some recipes for shortbread do specify icing sugar, Ang.
sonic
sorry
There are lots of variations possible - some use semolina.
It's lovely - and she makes a banana chiffon cake as well which I try to hide.
rice flour is the standed scottish variety that i got to use, i havent heard of semolina or icing sugar

pe9.60 - starts with the babbler pe** and the rest relates to bones
herin, she's a very large, very black, very furry thing. she like to lean against the side of the tub and let her feet slide sideways. ithink it is her kittie version of a ride at the park. then she wriggles around and rolls about on the cool, smooth surface.
oh is th tub empty or full?
wow lynxxx, thanks, found it right away from that clue. Strange word!
omg someone i used to work with is still mental enough to be working there, it was just on tv

pe** - 2 of the 3 un8s extend on the un5.12 which is something that workers may join
Movie you stole snooch
ac8/55 past tense of ac6/25 (ac + money you have to pay for something) ac8/50 biological word, grow together, 3rd person singl.

ac8.50 ends like a building material - con*****
movie: Ac7/36 = ac + consonant + Re4/4, the 8 is 3rd person singl. And please, a little more patience? Can't type any faster.
ee5/10 it is
ac 8 - ac + price (co 4) past tense

can't see the se8
Quite the grid!
70 c's? I'm glad I have the day off. A perfecr grid challenge for my day. Awesome!
I can't see 231 more words.
Lori: 2x a combo of verb and past tense (think thing to fixate hat with and needle tree) 1x combo coming back together with your old classmates now & person doing it 1x stood up again 1x educated again The rest is not re- in the sense of 'again'.
LOl Scrabbler
woot! just finished knotwork from hell! now I can start the grid!
wtg Ata!
Thank ye Sprite! That just made my re phobia a little less daunting. :-)
70 Cs .... urf
yw Lori :)
correction: it is educate again (not past tense)
Darn, I am just revving up here and now I have to get ready for work. I will return tonight. Good luck with the grid everyone! TY for clues--only 222 words left to find.
good day at work, Scrabbler!

Have a good one Scrabbler.
clue for the right hand d plz
See you, Scrabbler.
just got it, forget it
may I have another clue for the se8 don't have the se6 that it builds on
pe4, it means to discriminate or distinguish in thought.
peri - se6 = se + the ending of a word meaning to worry about, i.e. show some con**** for your safety.
funny pic, Jac!
thanks ever so much sprite and Jacula
y/w, pe**winkle.
yw :)
sprite - Yes, found the little chap in my veg drawer. Couldn't resist dressing him up a bit.:D
it is so funny :) Inspires a whole children's story!
down to 3 and one of them must be a 7!
re's done! Thank ye once again sprite. Made it a lot less painful for me. Now I can enjoy the grid.

G'd morning pink
mm - r/h e yields some words associated with what an audience may shout at the end of a show.
Later Bonkler.
last one is en5/12: a feeling of utter weariness and discontent resulting from satiety or lack of interest; boredom
mm - Also, a word which would refer to something surrounded by a cover, i.e. a conker.
Thanks, sprite - I hadn't spotted that one.

good morning, *slurp*
hi, annie
hey, annie :-)
hiya Une
G'd morning Annie
and lori p
...and a typo gives me my last c.
aloy, i see you're a "bird nerd" . . . looks to me like the cardinals, wrens, titmice, finches, doves, and woodpecker at my feeders this morning are joining in a chorus of . . . brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!
Une, I wish I could see the birds at your feeder
currently sunny and a sizzling 12 dgrees!
*degrees
it is hot here by comparison, 27 degrees but very windy
yes, i am , une.. and I miss such a lovely display at my feeder here in FL... but I sure don't miss the brrrr... tho we are having a cold snap here. 44 degrees this morning.. we had to mist the grove and create a fog night before last to avoid losing the crop to 20 something degrees.. not fun, but looks like everything is ok, whew
We're a balmy 7 degrees (Farenheit), but a beautifully sunny morn.
glad you were able to protect the grove, aloy
where are you, lori?
unaturally cold for Florida...it is semi-tropical , odd
Nova Scotia
aahhh, ok, no wonder it's brisk!
We live directly on the ocean, but for a change, there is no wind today.
wow, i bet it's beautiful there
I live accross the street from the ocean, hence, the winds too
Winter is the price we pay for summer here...LOL :)
exactly, lorip
It's a trade off that I'm fine with. :)
Lori, I say that in the summertime but right now I am not so sure :)
Yah, I know what you mean....
Annie, I remember being in Manhattan on a very windy raw day in March and saw an elderly lady seemingly walking backward, the wind was blowing so hard!
good morning, nice biggie to follow the smallie i see
hey, eva
Une, that must have been me....it does get nasty
G'd morning nut.
hi nutsy!
hi, evanonut!
speaking of living across the street from, i live across the street from horses, and next to cows...no ocean
evan, sounds peaceful...moooo
sounds nice, eva--kinda like where my mom lives
hi everyone!
annie sounds like my neighbors
hi temple!
my coffee cup is empty.. brb.. need a refill.. Hi TO!
morning your owlness
G'd morning TO
hey, TO!
: )
how are you feeling your nuttiness?
much better with a dry throat...told ya i was kicking it
you'd think percoset would make the grid if heroin and meth do
Temple, Barbaro was a beautiful horse...I used to work in the horse racing business... I was the lady who punched out your bets....they let Barbaro suffer too long...stud money and I dont care what any of the trainers or owners say...sleep well, Barbaro
hell i woudl settle for completing the w's....is there a list today?
Does anyone have the ac 7/32? Can't see it for looking....
oh, annie, that was such a sad story . . . unbearable to think of an animal suffering like that
still, poor barbaro, he was set up for a life of luxury and he didn't get to have it.
yes, there's a lickety list
Barbaro was a very sad ending. :(
ac + island in the mediterranean
no, nut, he didnt
oh man, I'm back for more torture - but 275 words? NO WAY!!
annie, do you really think he was suffering all of that time? no reputable vet would allow that for any amount of $
key word owl is reputable
are there more we than 4/8, 6/30, and 4/8?
morning all
hi wolv
we7/44
hi wolvie
and another we6/30 that sounds kinda elmer fuddish
ty une!
morning, wolvie
temple, perhaps not the entire time but any other horse would have been euthanized on the spot but Barbaro was worth too much money so they allowed him to go on and have many many a bad day
Une, I have that one, it's the ac 7/32 I don't have, or did I let my caffeine level dip too low... :)
course, if barbaro were human, we would be allow to be humane and put an end to it.
G'd morning asgreen, Wolvie.
i'd like to think not, annie..i mean more than one would normally allow discomfort to the level of hoping the result would be good.
oh, sorry . . . that one is ac + vowel + what you breathe with
evan, I hope so and to Barbaro, rest in peace
Thank ye muchly Une.
oh! sorry asgreen, missed ya there
yw :-)

I feel like I need to shower now.....
i'd like to to cancel the whole grid, for the same reason : p
LOL Babble
hear, hear
Okay, so now that the de's have been cancelled, I'm moving on.
Lori, I agree :-D
Honestly, I know it's happened to everyone here at some point. I looked at them, ans saw 1 stinkin' word.
pe9 starts with one of our Babblers . . .
I like grids with Bs, Gs, Hs Ws in them. This grid does not satisfy
i got that far, but am still stuck
Babbler + a bone-sounding ending
44 C words????
ty une
i will keep trying, ty
whoa, didn't even notice how many C words yet....!
pe 9 --- add what happenend in Watts and Harlem: ***ts + settlers in the American West were called Home****ders ( Congress granted 160 arce parcels)
I object .. perc, short for percolate.. not acceptable, rats
ok, dictionary says it's a membrane covering bones
70 c's kids.....heh heh heh
wow, Babble, whatta clue!
so, here's the thing...it's 8:50 in the morning - I've got 30 words. I can surrender now, and have a great productive day - or I can be here for the next 16 hours and still come up short... hmmm
Hang tight asgreen. Build it, and they will come.... :)

hi arwennn
hi inge
pe
no wrong clue, its re
Hi BIltong!!
hi biltong
tx Annie.
I don't get BR's clue for the pe9. Is that because I am not American, or is it because I am dumb? :(
Neither did I biltong - glad u admitted it first!
Bilt - pe** (fairy word) + a word to do with bones. (pe9)
neither of those bilt - some things just strike some don't
lol, asgreen. I've also done plenty of lurking
good clue jac

Jacula, will look for them, I like your little fellow in your icon
Drat! Thought I was going to find the 10-letter word by adding 're' to the front of u8/45. No such luck though.

i think it is time i *gasp* use the list, for i have a very busy day which begins in half an hour, and of my 24 remaining words, only one is a 4.
hello, mbh... are you new to Babble?
yeah, lol
i have managed to get 181 listless...only ecause i can't get it at work
Some people call it the greengrocer's apostrophe--like in potato's or banana's. I never could figure out how a surplus punctuation mark caught on though.
helps to know what you're missing, Hurshy.. (-:
i saw a grocery use quotation marks instead of asterisks to very ill effect once: "FRESH" produce!
it's everywhere....it has become acceptable by majority use
well WELCOME to Babble, myblue!
Time to go - bye all.
*shudder * they're everywhere, too?
bye, Haz..
bye haz!

mejum-large, pappa
good morning!
mejum? I don't know that. lol
hiya charm!
lol
good afternoon!!
well... ok, I've seen bigger, but it's pretty massive to start out a babble carreer with
Hey, TO!
true dat
hey charm
Hi, smooth....
howdy charm! ea4.6 time I look at the grid, I see another fish
Hey, Aloyisius. This looks like a much more fun grid than yesterday's.
its like when the sun comes up in the ea7.28 sky, light shineth on the ones I missed... yup, charm.. LOTS more fun!
this little light of mine...
<raise a bic lighter> <sniff sniff>
lol, hurshy... you know, you are the reason that I have all these songs running through my head.. you start them off!
:)
speaking of sniff... this doggone pooch must have eaten something weird because he is gassing me out of here
unicorn is almost there ....
gotta love it, FOUR trig functions in the grid!
spoken like a math tutor, lol
hideous. too much maths
and ty because I just spotted co5.14... missed it first go round
hmm, you may like to know folks, there is a second cr7
OOOH! Holst's Mars: the bringer of war just came on my cd player... nothing for good inspiration like that piece! lol
that does not fill me with great joy, it has to be said, hurshy dear :P
and mars and ares both count as babble words....
I have the Scottish-sounding spelling of unnerving. Is the other a "normal" word?
holy cow I don't have the first cr7... back to the hunt
it doesnt accept terd. tsk tsk tsk
anyone got the in7? is combo with a 6...
turd, not terd, that's why...
oh. woops.lol.ive been spelling it wrong my whole life.
but its nerd, not nurd
I didn't have it, Hurshy. But I do now...Thanks!
hmm, can you give me a clue then, lol
A toothy thing to do the in/6 with
oh man, just saw the gambling house, ca6.21... where are my brains today?
what do u mean by the /6?
well don't i just feel fishy.
thanks, Aloy!
oh no. there's a pe7 and it could be anything, ack
yw, a fun discovery
good morning, everyone --- DrB posted a list of the 8's before leaving last night -- anyone interested?
i dont understand u ppl!!!
also a pe 9
pe6/24 = past tense of the pe4/5? pe6/21 = fr for father + opp of off.
sock it to us, nan!
myblueheaven - welcome?
howdy nan..
yeah but there is a 7 between those charm :(
thanks, hursh - no list yet....
somebody explain the cluing system, i haven't the time
is there no time limit on this?
pe6/24 means a 6 letter word which starts with PE and is worth 24 points. check out the 'help' button above. And no time limit. you have till midnight EST.
MBH, it's shorthand for cluing words. Pe/6/24 means a word starting with pe, 6 letters long and worth 24 points. Click on angelson's page at the bottom of the Babble page for more useful Babble info
the 8's: ac, ac, re, re, se, un, un, un, wa
that is a time limit charm lol
myblueheaven - something will click, you will understand and then become addicted like we are
thanks nan!
also there is pe 9 and re 10
lol, hursh
ok.. the first number is how many letters in the word and the second is the point value of all the letters in the word, so ac4.8 means a word that starts with ac, has 4 letters in it and adds up to 8 points
ill look forward to it
oh i see
italian for dry (if i remember correctly from the summer)... is in the grid
yup, i even missed ei5..12, the duck.. geez
ei6, too, Aloy
how many words have u found
sorry, Aloy - wrong place....
How is it possible I still have 12 c's to get?? Arghhh...Time for the list...
huh? you mean ee6, charm
there are 275 today, blue, and i have 4 to go...
Thanks, Aloy - looking in the wrong place.
(which i don't have, lol)
more spooky
go, go, go Hurshy go!!!
listless, hurshy?
of course, Charm... ty. i really am blind today..
no cnan, i have a very busy day, must leave in 10 mins, so went to list with 24 to go
200 down, 75 to go... but I must leave in a few minutes... I think I'll be finishing later. lol
whats list?
see you, smooth..
pe7 french father positively charged.

hunting and pecking, hurshy
myblue: look at the links below. Brandyjack's list is under "General" in babblers anonymous, or use Lickety's list
lol

Good morning all. Taking a break and trying to get some words.
well, i'm beginning to feel wacco... lol
LOL Alo
Thanks for the reminder, Scarlet -- I knew I was forgetting something
LOL, TS
Much better...
this is hard
That's why we're here, mbh ;)
it gets easier after you do a couple of grids, heaven. you begin to see the patterns....
Finally got the dreaded c's...my last one was an alternate spelling for the drug that I hadn't seen before.
just go for the short words first, mbh.. lots of words build from the shorter ones
still carrying on without a list, but have 109 to go
lol, I've been doing this for a few years, charm; I'm still waiting to see patterns in the grids ;)
MBH, stick around and you'll learn all kinds of weird words. Soon you'll be typing etna, naoi, and toea with the rest of us...
not sure if thats a good thing
Nor are we, MBH, nor are we...
lol
nan, I like to get 3/4 of the grid done, a goal I set for myself.. so I divide the number by 4, so today I "had" to reach 69 before hitting the list... and on days when I go past that, I know the grid is not too hard.
i prefer boggle, its less time consuming
wested
before I leave, any clue for the RE 6/18?
lol, keep typin rubbish in here
Got up again.

Ata hope you can translate my typing :)
I want to know why you are never in your pictures, Atalante?
tricksiness :) I always have the camera!
We're used to deciphering typing.

The eo words add wrongdoing and a maths term.
Good for you. i am so glad, you were so tense.
nm tx found them
Thank heavens, finally found an 8 letter word by myself. Feell better now
haven't even hit half way!
Hello all, just returned from doctors appt. He confirmed what I thought: I have a rotator cuff injury. He actually called it Impingment Syndrome which also includes bursitis which I also have. He gave me an 2 injections in the shoulder which hurt like hell and told me to ice it several times today. He also gave me a script for PT
That's sounds dreadful peri,
I hope the injection works to relieve your pain, peri.
sorry peri - better soon
thanks Haz, hopefully I will be able to sleep on my right side again.
:( *hugs peri*
hope you get better peri!!!!
sounds awful, peri--take care and I hope you feel much better soon . . .
I'm off to the doc today as well. Have dreadful pain in hip and knee. Hope there's an easier answer than 2 injections
I had the same injections 2 weeks ago peri...shoulder isnt perfect but more or less painfree now
thanks everyone
So are you taking the risk of babbling today, or just doing it in short bursts?
hi7 please
I am babbling as usual but not staying at the computer for long periods of time
In England treatment also included pysio
nothing will keep me from babble and my babble friends
hi7 past tense of the sound a horse makes, minus the first letter
hi7 was in the grid recently - past tense of a word, with an addition of a w, hear the horse noise...
tx une got it
Thats real dedication peri
:-D
dedication or addiction that is the question
They used to talk about Dr Theatre (for poorly actors) - there must be Dr Babble in existence as well.
sshhhh go for dedication lol
8-)
Haz, we have Dr_God and the power of ZZ Top, what more could you want? OK, OK, I'll go and take my medication . :)

I would like my own love God...
I didn't spot him until you mentioned it just now, doh!!!
still need 119 including lots of C's, taking a break to ice my shoulder
in7 is a tooth

You're obviously still under the influence of the medication!
tx haz normally enjoy hunting for leftovers but tired tonight on finding it tough to find 44
You're welcome ursh - maybe take a break and come back to it? And if you're not enjoying it, don't force yourself.
half way! off to lunch. later kids.
Bye redshoes.
ty Haz! didn't see FM's favourite god
Ladies, you surprise me!
afternoon all!!
HOw long do you let a 2 year old scream her head off before you give up the ghost on her napping?
Hello Charm!
Paige has been screaming for about 1/2 hour. what do you think?
Do you mean she doesn't want to nap?
yepper
Hi, Haz.
in her crib wailing
last two un's, please?
minski have you thought of ether...?
Minski, Have you tried just letting her not take her nap? I think she may just be very sleepy earlier in the evening.
She may not need to sleep. I'd pick her up.
Minski, shut her inthe bedroom and put the vacuum on - it will drown out the screaming - worked for me many years ago!
I was thinking of tossing a bottle of milk laced with a nice rum in her crib to see if that would help.
got them
un5 - tear open, un6 - not ready for eating
ooohhh quiet...........dare Ihope she's fallen asleep?
good idea Minksi!
yes, the milk laced with rum will work for you too!
She's probably scared of the collective advice of the Babble ladies - safer to be quiet.
still quiet........maybe....fingers crossed.....she's been tough today. I could use alittle break.
My youngest was the child from hell with regard to sleeping....i was advised to "let him cry" but i was too much of a softie to let him do it..consequently i had 7 years without sleep....
wa 8?
cybernan - add a couple of vowels to the wa6/30 - the non-recycler
Okay, time to go - have a good day all, and see you tomorrow!
bye Haz.
thanks, haz -- who would have thunk it!

ac7.36 = ac + greek island
bbbbrrrrrr. hope you're well and staying inside because you can... ??
stid - we have had some fog too, but not much frost
sorry ALOY, ac 7/36, thank you
pe6/21 please, the first one
yw, on to find my missing s's....
stid - it's the morning sickness keeping me on the couch most of the day...i have a prescription anti-nausea med that keeps me drowsy
oh firefly! *happy and concerned* I was really sick with my babies, too.
first one I have is a past tense to pe 4/5 - like a lord
thanks Wolvie, will work with that
this puzzle makes me want to take a PERCOSET!
looked at flosey
stid - i was worse with my daughter, no meds, lost 8 pounds the first trimester, but i lived! This may be our second and last - I just don't do well being sick for so long :(
that's pe6/24 I think Wolvie, I need pe6/21
joym - haha! i tried that one :)
pe6/21 = p + spooky
good luck firefly
oops - I was cluing a pe 6/24 - sorry flosey - tor is right
thanks torgone, that did it
thx Wolvie! i'm gonna make it, just as soon as i hit about 14 weeks (in another 6 weeks) i should be right as rain :)
I was the same. two live babies and I was done. Couldn't deal with the thought of being sick for so long again (and then I got really awful post-partum depression with each pregnancy).
if this game were scored so that you got points off every time you entered a word that didn't exist, we'd all get no points at all.
lol joy, indeed
good news firefly. :-)
firefly -- have you tried acupuncture...it's proven to help a lot w/ morning sickness
I was sick for 3 months with all 4 but after that it was a breeze
if the game were scored that way, my typos would keep me from getting points even if I was aiming for the right words (which I often don't....)
stid - my husband isn't too happy...he wanted four children, but i think he's starting to see how bad it is for me, and I too had some PP but not to the point of needing meds
my partner is 8 months pregnant...she's been having acupuncture the whole time, and almost no morning sickness!
si6/27 please
lol...me too, stid...I think this game has given me finger dyslexia
I was sick my entire pregnancy each time. TEN months with stidmatt... blah.
yikes, stid!
joym - never tried that or heard of it for m/s, but sounds fun - not sure if there's one around here or if insurance covers it...
oh joy, that is good for her (and for you) -- will this be your first?
oh stid, how terribly depressing that must have been
yep, our first! I am one half excited and one half terrified!
stid - luckily my sickness fades after the first trimester, but my mother-in-law was the same way with all 3 of her kids
si6/27 I set my dog on my neighbor
commited an evil act is my first one ursh
firefly -- no, insurance doesn't usually cover it, unfortunately
you see what a pansy I am? that si 6/27 krissyk just clued would NEVER have occurred to me!
joym - hmmm, that'd be a downfall then
any clues for the eo words please
joym - i forgot to say congrats to you and yours!
well I know "eonic" ISN'T one of them flosey! LOL
yes, this child is emptying out our savings even before she's born!
yes, tried that stid
thanks, firefly! and to you, too!
tx kriss
*look of amazement* you still have savings???? LOL
eo + a trig function, knock off the end vowel for another eo word
thanks aloyisius! I bet you're enjoying all our talk of cold fingers and toes and noses...
thanks Aloy
well, stid... now I'm ok, but night before last was NO sleep as we had to mist the grove all night.. down in the 20's.. bad time, but everything is ok
oh no! not you, too -- were you able to save much? oranges or lemons?
clue for the r word at bottom left please?
wow aloy - glad all is well
yes, happy to say the oranges are fine. Only lost some sensitive plants in the landscaping
nm - got it
whew aloy!
spent a lot of time throwing blankets over stuff.. not fun
aloy -- where are you?
hi again - can't believe some of you are still (???) here! lol...so, with 208 to go, I've got a long aft/evening ahead of me, right?
sw Fla. now.. just north of Ft. Myers
good for the oranges, hope the rest gets better fast! I gave up this year on trying to mollycoddle things. If they made it good, if they didn't then we need hardier plants. Ten years ago this was unusual weather, with it happening frequently now I think I just need to adjust my plantings.
I just got back a few minutes ago asgreen - still lots left. :-)
just asking because that's happening here in CA, too
first so5/12 please
bad year for citrus farmers, unfortunately
good thinking, stid.. am doing native plants now, gave up planting "pretty" stuff that was not salt tolerant, drought or frost resistant.. silly
gotta go back to work...nice chatting w/ you all
bye, joym..
later joy, be well! {{{hugs to partner}}}
bye joym!
bye joy

ci 4/5 is another name for a boil or wart on the skin
*pulling my hair out* just like and si 4, didn't think to try that ty
which leads to ci+back of a ship for the ci7

HI, I am new and need a bit of help. Is there a way that you can you type your words in on the lickety site and have them show up on the babble site?
hi there angb! and many thanks...
Hi salmo - no there's not.
HI kanaga yw
thanks Angb
boy, i'm learning some new words today.
Salmo - I don't type all the words at once anyway - does my head in. Find all the words I can in the grid, then concentrate on 1 letter with the list - see what I'm missing. You can just tick the entries not write the words
hi salmo welcome to babble!
kanga will you every use them tho
next time i am fretfully impatient, absolutely!
Abgb, that is basically what I am doing. Thanx
lol kanga
Just ask a question salmo - plenty of helpful people on the site 24/7
96 left - time for the list I think. You guys aren't cluing enough LOL
anything i have, you can have angb
Sorry, Ang. I'm between here and a site I've been a member of for 5 years. That site, or 'our' part of it is being closed down in a week. We're not very happy about it!

S'posed to be my day off, I went to do an errand, got called in to work, etc, etc, etc you know the deal. :(
ok, yep, i've been around daniel too long.....
Last co5/14 is like a child's magazine but with a different consonant in the middle, as it has to do with things 'dunce hat' shaped.
hiya stiddy! i'm not doing the grid today, don't feel like starting something i can't finish.
Got the kids to bed, read stories, then #1 pm'd me.... I told her she'd have to wait a bit. LOL
co6/24 - a variant spelling of the drug
*grin* way to go Lori!

co 6/24 and co 7/36? second pair of em?

co 7/36 - not the long version...
co = to force someone to do something, then plural
Wangs4, to force someone into doing something they didn
thanks Lori!
hi everyone
A million useless cyber bucks for the so 6/18 please
wow - nice...
cr7/36 = cr + round vowel + a type of camera or film (****mascope).
cr 7/36 alligator + not out+ 2nd vowel
thanks scarlet and lorip
G'd evening saphyre

26 torturous words left to go. Been all day in the making....
'S okay Dorens, I get like that sometimes. Well done on finishing! See you again.x
Later Dorens. Good things to ya'.
{{{Dorens}}} YAY and hope tomorrow is better for you. *more hugs*

cr 7/36 - confused..any help there?
Go pida!
wangs - co 5/14 & 6/24 are... erm,do you still need them?
one after that, lori.
Go Lori!!
cr + weird feeling, spelled with 2 vowels at the end
cr7/36 = scarie! LOL
herro
yes please jacula
hi lady
herro herein! :-)
LOL Jacula, nice cluing
love that clue jacula....now those co's?
oh - and the last cr 5/12 when one gets a chance
waves back, no pouncing in today im a bit ti ti
wangs - OK. co5 = a child's magazine with a different consonant in the middle. co6 = the plural. They really refer to 'dunce hat' shaped things.
herin - a bit tiddley?
old lady, wangs.
what kids mag is that???
co 5/16 pls.....
cr5/14, after the weeping? please
thanks jac hadnt got that no ti ti is tired
tipsy? tired? :)
cr + rhymes with tr*** (drivel)
for cr***s sake
tired just tired, i am sick and was cold all night and the other half ended up on the floor as i pused him out of bed again
Last co5/12 = co + a grou of people or things, ***. Not *** in stone.
think a shell, pida. or a sofa with the middle consonant changed.
thank you, thank you, thank you!
*realizing it's close to a full mooon...* I wonder if I can't find words because things are so weird in my life right now?
done kanga?
now onto the te and un words... sigh
kid's magazine clue refers to co***s, like 'Superman', 'Beano', 'Dandy' etc.
thanx, kanga
oh, full moon! cool.
so confused now jacula..
a pleasure, pida
conie
Yes, it's a full moon and there was the most wonderful late afternoon deep pink and black cloud sky today.
may I have the R from the bottom left corner?
we have a window view of the full moon last night
wangs - try this - a funny person is a co***.
mmmm sounds lovely, Jacula!
tx jacula
oh man i have 45 c words
I tookk a pic of it, Stid, on my phone. It won't seem to transfer to PC though.;(
(thanks because it's a full moon Jacula, wait four days and I bet there won't be any trouble!)
the 2 COs before "to force/and to force plural)
hmm, wonder if i can do any good shots of the moon this weekend.
thanks word
co + the bottom of your face
stid - ri4/5? Think horses?
heading to the 50 mark for words
co + **ucate
Go herein!
ri5/12 - one who ri4's a horse?
no, those come off the other R again.... *sigh* it's a toughie.
tx kanga lots
5 to go. sweat pours.
im getting there and stil no lickety list just pinching clues from here
Must be one of the re's then, stid.
goooo kanga!
de 6/21 ???
I am just waiting for Tom to get home and give me a hand with dinner. It'll be simple today... long day, very tired
go kanga go!
the 3 COs below to force and to force plural
i got the choccie one
that's what I was afraid of, Jacula!
herin said a word!
Go kanga!
i did? choccie
adhd - think hard money. and grass matting.
stid, try re+ red flower you get from your lover.
{{{Katy}}} that was it! :-) 107 to go!
Take the word she said with a pi*** of salt! If you don't like it, ball your fist and pu5/18 her. No, not really! Just giving clues!
Jac what did i say?
de = the one who says "I did not"
thanks jac
104 now, thanks Jacula!
Hiya, Stid! How goes?
what is with Dr Phil bitching to a couple complaining about their 4yr asking if hes gay? um hes 4 who cares
grass matting?? astroturf???
herin - you got 2 words out of that, I guess? LOL
yep
hi riemann! It goes... glad the month is over! stidkid#2 was EXCELLENT in the school play!
who's ready for idol??
ADHD - grass matting must be a rope word, co4?
co + **is (a purple flower, or part of your eye)
Nut - never watch it. Sorry.
now I need one or more E from the right hand column and I will have met my tertiary goal for the day! (hint, please?)
i am, i am!!!!!! i've been impatiently waiting and cringing through bones
i get so pissed when people worry that their 4 year old or little kid is gay as they play with girl toys, i used to play with toy guns and boy toys and im not gay
Glad to hear it!
in new guinea, we sat on squares of it instead of chairs at school
hiya, nutteroo!
The wa 8 is a stoopid word....
Oh, if it's an E you want ....
stid, do you have any of those e's?
*sings an E*
yes, it is Lori!
jeez guys, someone has to watch it with m e
no, I don't have any of the E from that specific tile, though I have several E words.
i'm here for ya nut!
runs screaming from the room
i commented below about waiting through bones
they all begin with en, if that helps
So what does one think about parents complaining about boys playing with girl toys?
en6/21, stid. To enclose something.
thanks Katy, that's the clue I needed! and Jacula!
en6/21 and past tense en7/36 - what audiences cry at the end of a performance.
te 7/28? please...
the hard one for me was en 5/12, means boredom
i don't like the label "boy toys" or "girl toys". daniel has a dollhouse and baby doll to play with, all in the name of imaginative play.
or indeed te5/12 or te 6/21....
Herein, that's silly, IMO. I have 4 kids, they all played with each genders toys. Non issue here. :)
btw, that wasn't directed at you personally labelling them herin, just that they get labelled at all
feather this couple was bitching that their 4 year old is gay? ffs i was a tom boy and got everything
sry kanga, don't have any of those yet
te = the te 4 + on***s make me cry
I think they have their heads up their ar**s, lady. orientation and gender expression are two separate issues, neither of which are necessarily obvious or set before puberty. Kids experiment. Besides, if it's okay for me to drive a truck and swing a hammer, it's okay for a little boy to have baby dolls.
I think children will naturally play with whatever toys they want to play with. If the toys they want are not available, they will make them, i.e. boys will use sticks etc., to make guns, if so inclined.
thank you lori! just two to go...
ac6/24 anyone?
ok, idol's starting out weird already
i love it!
yep
ac + the price of something
he thinks he's a cat
te 5 = brute fo*** is used sometimes to break things, then plural
me thinks he's weird
i used to look after kids we had no set rules except no gun play of any sort
oooh! down below 100. going to get the rice cooker going. back if I can.
thansk Lori
oh, lori!
herin - a good rule, but, as I said, boys WILL make the guns if they want to, even if it's just pointing and index finger and saying 'bang!'
herein, we had that rule, until we realized the futility of it all. Straws, sticks, fingers, they all became guns....
i have hit the list at half way there. im still in my pjs andits 1pm
yay!!!!!
kanga, what?
Boys are warlike creatures. That's life!
fireworks...
yay kanga!!!!
Whoo. Congrats kanga!
Well done, kanga!
and yes, jac, they are. you should see the delight with which daniel has his toy animals attack each other. of course, he also has them give hugs and kisses, so i figure he's balanced out.
*slumps to floor* anyone need a clue?
yep but jac no gun play was funny considering one of the minders grabbed a child by the wrist and dumped her in a corner and called her bad for wetting herself, i was horrifed
feather thats cute
I'm having trouble with my last three six letter words. Can someone clue me? They are pe 6,21, the first one. sc 6,24, the last one. And si 6,21.

The theme today, as far as I know, was 'paperweights'. I'd got one of the many stones my dear, late Dad painted all ready for it. I put my potato man on just to show you all but didn't bother changing when no one did the theme.

I'm back. Stupid cat was outside the front porch door as I put the key in. Now, he is somewhere on other side of road growling something that sounds like, 'Ill 'ave you!' Thing is, his opponent is evenly matched to him (not more vet's fees, I hope!) and I am in my nightclothes and so cannot really go marching over neighbour's gardens with no knickers on!;(
oh no jac! you need the garden hose, not a squirt gun!
no knickers?? Jac you loose woman
ooooh, no knickers!
lol
be a bit drafty i imagine
Good idea, feather. No, maybe not, not in a middle class English avenue.
feather, do you remember a guy from bethlehem pa who made it through?
Feather known calla for many a year helping her through msn
I somehow picture Jacula wearing jammies, chasing cats with a garden, and saying to the neighbors "what are you looking at"?
can you lob a water balloon at them? hee, if you had one that was
Jac jump the fence anyway doubt anyone will see its dark
hell hath no fury like a sc7/36 woman
ah, ok, that's good lady
umm, i don't pay a lot of attention to where they're from, so from just that description, nope
Hi everyone! Where is that 10? Is it straightforward, or stupidword?
Lori - not jammies in the sense of a top and shorts or trousers! I prefer my 'bits' to be untrammelled in the night. LOL.
lord, he's cute
Naturally, Jacula wouln't be chasing cats with a garden, but more likely a garden HOSE... (sigh)
oh ok - i have the name written somewhre - he has participated in the str of betjlehem contest at musikfest the last few years and come in third....and he made it
K. E- one who arranges get-togethers with alumni.

*already crying*
pretty good?
oh, how could you not cry...
touching
like the girl with the hair down to her ankles?
herin - 'jump the fence'?? I never liked high jump or long jump when I was at school! Why the hell would I attempt to jump a fence now I'm nearly 50? LOL.
Well, I am off to bed, secure in the knowledge that the glow of finishing this grid will be replaced by 35 re words in tomorrow's. :(
that made my night
Jac, are you still a knickerless lass? Thanks,by the way, for posting a list yesterday--made it possible for me to complete despite missing Lickety
ok - only came back on to tell you all (and esp herinfernallady) that thanks for the offers of advice - feather at al - but this isn't a game for me. It involves thinking laterally and well.. I'll just throw the monitor through the roof
Have a great evening everyone!
lol night lori
Good night, LoriP
Lori - I'd never chase anything with a garden in hand. Garden's take so long to blossom, and they are heavy.

(A former Sheffield gas fitter, as he was, wgho wasn't sure how he should move on stage) - I thought he was what we used to call 'a spastic' in those days, when I first saw him. ADHD - I was coming back fro my corner shop yesterday and crossinf the road as a group of mixed raace teens from the local school were crossing the other way. I heard one black youth laughingly call another black youth a 'black bastard'. Then I heard another youth, a white one, say, 'But you're black, so how can you say that?' 'I wanna know that, too!' said a Chinese lad. The first black youth smiled at them, and at me, since he'd seen me looking, 'It's a bro thing!' he said.
Go figure!

Why is everyone in USA so afraid of talking about colour and cultural differences? Not being confrontational, just wondering! In UK and The Antipodes, they are daily discussions betweenn friends.

re6/7 - re + p4 (tree)

sorry for typing that twice, my compy is all sorts of screwed up
Hi all -- back for a few minutes
hi jilil
hi jili!
The 'PC' brigade are trying to rob all of us of sense of humour, fun, joshing, loving, caring.. and much more.
jilli i meant to say
Hi Jilli
Thank you Abe79, that helped a great deal.
yeah, it's so easy for someone to complain about something and say "omg! it's cause I'm black! it's cause I'm a woman! it's cause I'm jewish!" and then they sue sue sue
yw Scarlet
ok, heading to bed, night all!
goodnight featherbee
Good night, featherbee
I read today in a UK newspaper that the number of people going to Church has risen. I'll bet it has! They are all going there to pray for reason and a miracle that will elease us from the PC brigade before the world explodes.
goodnight feather
night feather - see you tomorrow
nite feather
jac -- about the colour sensitivity thing in the USA -- there's still a residual feeling about the years of slavery and the dreadful treatment blacks got there for so long
anyone have the last re 7/36? thanks!
hell then don't come here - it is out of control
Jac i have this thing where we need to be responsible for our actions
jili makes a good point
jille, no one alive in the us today owned a slave
To instruct again, ave
nut it doesn't matter....we try to understand one by one
i tripped over my feet thus its the pavements fault? or i live next to the boom gates on a train line ths its the boom gates fault that its loud
no, but jim crow isn't too far behind us
need last sc6 and sc5
The US still has slaves
what is the IR 4.5 after "angered"
quite so nut, but the memory and resentment linger.
thanks Scarlet :)
yea and i drankt he coffe in a moving car but it's mcdonald's fault it was too hot
herin - slavery was abolished in 1833.
ir4 - change middle vowel
YW, abe.
sorry but any country that pays adults money below the povety line forcing people to work 2 or 3 jobs is a disgrace
en 5/12 please
well, i'm not keen on racist actions against me because i'm white when i have not, nor have any of my ancestors, ever owned slaves
sorry i class that as a form of slavery
and herin is correct too
Doxy, that one has driven me to the edge. THANK YOU.
herein: where are you from?
I am australian
yw scarlet
herin - forgive me for being so forthright, but I think you need to go out into the big, wide world and see the sun, breathe in the air, even smell the coffee if you must.
your ocuntry runs very differently
slavery may have been abolished but the bad treatment continued and was only beginning to be overcome in the 1960s -- emphasise beginning.
My fathers parents in the 40s lived in africa and had black house boys and in aus my gran was a minder of aboriginals in a camp in redfern so i have a very bad background from that point of view
and it takes an act of god to get in you can afford to be picky
Jac i think my problem is i have to much cofee
lol herin that may very well be lol
Lol, herin. Maybe. Start drinking tea instad.
We still class homosexuals as not real people with real rights. I find the concept of paying anyone below wages abhorent and im so glad i live in aus
herin, how is the problem addressed there then?
Temple have you seen "Black Hawk Down'
Um with what?
yes i have, herin - why do you ask?
I am down to the last word on this fun grid, and hang my head that I have to ask for a 4-letter word: re4/5. I have the thin, grassy one. Thank you.
wages
Evan usually ignoring the problem
Hah! Women are paid less than men for doing the same jobs even up to university professorships, never mind race!!!
You know Mogadishu and how its all war torn at the start?"
because our minimum wage is in the process of being raised
true jilli...i get that all the time at work.
re4 - re + third letter + plural
scarlet -- think of the round red button on the vcr player. shorten it to the first 3 letters, and then pluralize it.
scarlet- short for vinyl album
here, here, jili! so true!
i think ours is still crap in some areas and then there is the 'we dont use sweat shop' issues too
women's work is still identifed and put into a lower class
i think tax reform could fix that issue
SOrry temple do you remember how Mogadishu is all war torn at the start?
yes
re4/5 (not the marsh gras) - re*ords. short form, if you were writing it.
yes owl, and women who work are usually exptected to run the household still as well
I have these amazing fotos from 1945 ish of down town Mogadishu and it was bueatiful
nut -- where di you find that creepy paperweight??? - LOL!
not to mentio that men EXPECT theiir wives to do paid work as well
just luck jilli, wish renni had got to see it
Hey Jac we have a prime minister here that thinks women should be barefoot and pregnant in a kitchen plus work
That was the one, abe79. Thank you. Fireworks, at last! Thanks to everyone for letting me go to bed. LOL ;-)
nut -- email it to her!
Fireworks
jilli - paperweight? Someone actually has one as anic4 now? Time for me to change mine to one of my Dad's painted stones.

Yay, Anike, and thank you jili, abe79, TO and all!
careful herin, that's a fiesty horse!

ty dawg...engery is flagging
yw TO
this was not an easy grid on top of being a big one!
oh hell - we have the king tut exhibit and already over 400,000tickets have been ordered....i hate plannin gahead but i will have to to see it
abe - en5/12 is either he first part of your feather-filled bed cover (no, not the duvet, think older than that!) or en5/12 meaning boredom.
oooh, sounds like a great exhibit to see. i'm so envious!
*listeniing to the news as i babble*
i saw that when i was a little girl temple owl..in a chicago museum

If so, why?

Hi Stid. sorry you're not well

The museum also has the most comprehensive collection of pre-Raphaelite paintings and works to be found.
hi stid ..i take it you mean personally, not computer wise
si6 - the 1st one
hi stid
hi lbd -- wet noodle standing by... (drooping?)
i saw a mummy on tv last night and i gagged
ADHD...e+double consonant + not me but yo* and 3rd vowel.
doxy, did wrong?
Doxy, what you say to a dog to attack someone.
tx dawg i totally misread that clue
if the tut exhibit is the one we saw a couple years ago it's not worth travelling really far to see... the tutian (?) artifacts are much in the minority, a lot of space devoted to his family's history (which was fascinating in itself...)
si6/21, 'Forgive me, father, for I have si****.'
yes stid i do believe that is it but i thought that was the way they expanded the orginal show
thx dawg
yw doxy
when it was in LA there was a lot of standing and waiting around and not enough bench space in the exhibit. I recommend taking something you can sit on -- one of those cane things with a seat attached...
I'm off to bed now. Goodnight, all!

It is unfortunate on the days that there are only 2 hours left when you start the grid, that there are 275 huge words to find.
I am enjoying a nice Zin myself tonight, waiting for the ice storm/snow that is supposed to hit tonight, so far nothing by crazy weather people telling us its coming.
may i have a clue pkease fo rro6/18?

un 6/24 un+U.S. intelligence group+ 2nd vowel
i'm in Alabama, where snow and ice through everyone in a tizzy, i grew up in chicago so we find this behavior while warrented rather funny. hubby just went to check the skies.
*throw
It is very funny isn't it, how stressed people can get with such a small amount? I do love it when we get snow days though. My friend and I always go out for a nice lunch.
un 4/6 beginning of your mothers, brother, to you+3rd vowel, the next one same letters, 4th vowel
hey thanks pida!
un 6/24 un + suit****

Good morning all - you are all checking for snow and getting ready for bed - i am just up and thinking oh gosh its going to be another hot day and its month end and lots of work to be done

Hello!
I bet you could google him and find out
hi chic
Equus. If you're talking about Daniel Radcliff (Harry Potter). It's a play about a boy who get's "off" on horses.
hi Helen, I don't think it's a movie, I think I heard it's a Broadway show in NY
word score is 4690
ooh - when i was in college, equus was the premiere movie of the chicago film festival, i got to go on opening night cause my boyfriend at the time was an usher - the young star was there - peter firth, at least i think that was his name
Hi Jee!
richard burton was his shrink
hiya chic!
It was just here in Edmonton, AB a few months ago (obviously not with Daniel). Good play, but a bit creepy as well.
um google Equus its a rather old play
hiya helen!
I'm just creeped out it's Harry
Its a west end revival and if that upsets you then Dikato Fanning in a graphic rape scene is worse
okay, I'm trying deperately to finish...can anyone help with what is probably dum-dum words?
hi btw!
thx gottem....15 to go...don't think I will make it. I am brain dead!!
okay, that one upsets me too. I don't know why her parents let her do that.
41 to go here
83 left here...full steam ahead
Because its just a role and its important to put out there, does the Cate Blanchete movie suduceing a 15 student upset you?
well at least we're all in it together...66 here (was hoping there were some cluers lurking though)
calling all cluers, calling all cluers
im by the way equus has nothing to do with um unnatural acts with a horse but mutilation
I don't like that idea either. Too many true stories about teacher seducing kids.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Equus_(pl ay)
SI 6.27 pls!!
si 6/27 - past tense of setting your dog on the burglar
missing that one SMD :(
