hi gw

Hi GW :)
the ultimate rude awakenings often have to do with pets
HAPPY ST. PATTY'S DAY TO ALL MY AMERICAN BABBLE BUDS
that is the thing about cats, ADHD -- they are not afraid to let you know when they are unhappy with your performance :-D
Hey there, c-nan!
and harp
true jane. hey, anyone remember the annoying troll we had with the 485 grid called Ghostbustah?
grey, long time!!! good to see you!
but she is not a male Grey
no i pay very little attention to trolls
howya been wolf?
su7
my favorite rude awakening was when a stray cat came into the room where my husband, myself, and our two cats were sleeping
ADHD -- I have never had a male cat -- my girls do the same thing -- we actually had to throw out my daughter's Winnie the Pooh sofa because of the cats
literally fur flying
so many of us couldn't get that grid done . it just held a finger on a letter and filled the chat so much that we had to leave w/out finishing... couldn't give/get clues
Hi Nat! it has been quite some time, eh?
been busy, got a new job and don't do the late nights much anymore
jane... that EXACT same thing happened to me over ten yrs ago. don't even know where this orange tiger came from, but it wasn't pee that it did on my white down comforter... i had to throw away my fav. cover
on a more refreshing note... this is the perfect size grid, no?
we've been pretty good here, ADHD -- Seb had a virus this past week, but he is over it now -- so we are all healthy again
glad y'all r well agn. woulf
do7
i see my fav. dog in your icon woulf
:-)
So what's the new job, Nat?
I am working for Catholic Charities doing family preservation, in the form of teaching parenting, doing family therapy and linking people to community services available
stressful, but rewarding
sounds like it is demanding but rewarding, Nat -- Good Luck!
thanks grey, it has been pretty good so far
never heard of that su7 before...strange one
all of my clients are DCFS referred, so it can be heartbreaking
sound cool nat, what sort of education/expereience do you bring to the job?
I have a BA in psyc (minor in buis) and I am about a smester away from a masters in marriage and family therapy
pending my thesis
cool
not strange at all if you have anything to do with a theater, Jee
has anybody used the x yet?
luck to you nat in your job.
d5/22 has the x
so i see thanks
guess that is why I don't know that one...good one to learn though Erda
thanks ADHD, I have been there since July, but I am still learnign
Clues are uP!

therre's a girl on Letterman that can put her fist in her mouth
now THAT's something that could come in handy
Letterman just said: "Is that good news or bad news for your boyfriend?" gimme a break
Well, what else could you say?
really woulf... i guess that's her claim to fame lol
Not much if your hand is in your mouth!
lololol nonnie
LOL
tr7
now there's a girl who can jumprope using her arms as the "rope"
7's called: do, ri, su, to, tr
I think a person who goes on national tv with that as a talent is sort of setting themselves up for whatever letterman has to say.
i like letterman... funny guy
that matches what I have, cnan
me too, nan
the jumprope girl was creepy to watch. you could see her arms dislocating at the shoulders
there aren't many letters in this grid
I was thinking the same thing AD
ae7
oh because of the repeats? It took me a moment to figure out what you meant...I was thinking "5 x 5" as always! lol
ty jee
as usual, I envy and admire all you peeps who see the 7 + words so quickly

hi stid, nice to hear from you, the house is alot smaller than our forces one, three bedroom, my daughter has moved back in with a bun in the oven, a shock too us both, but everything has calmed down now, she is 22 yrs old and had to make her own choices in life. once the bun is out of the oven we are going to start to have problems as there isn't enough room in the house to accommidate a cot or even moses basket, so we wil have to see what happens in sept
hey stid... i took a potty break and missed you. i got up cuz my cat peed on my bed, tylenolkeeping fever at bay. i'm actually quite miserrable and hope it goes quickly.

bye fran
it was a sacrifice i was willing to make :)
my line is on my back verandah under cover, its great, gave drier to my daughter afer i moved here
would love to give away the drier. but i just try to use it as little as possible.
after i ran away from home i spent 18months in an apartment, no line, just a drier, i so hated it
when did you run away from home? i often think of it...
good evening boggle
nearly 4 years ago, was married 38 years, big decision
will stop being facetious... a very big decision and congratulations on being brave enough1
i only think about running away when the kids are even louder than usual.
probably the best decision i ever made, although i would not recommend it to the faint hearted
sounds a lot like committing to jumping from a plane to me. terrifying but liberating.
mine are grown up with ids of their own and now complaint their kids are loud, seves them right, you will get the last laugh
kids even
just have to live through my parents laughing at me, andree.
was just thinking my kids are all id at the moment :)
it is quite funny watching my kids complaining of the same things i did
i know my kids are complaining about the same things too. it's just me they complain about! they call me the meanest mother on the planet (with affection of course)
breakfast calls back later
my eldest grandaughter spent last weekend with me because her parents are so mean, lol
enjoy, iain.
alas, my parents are not able to take the kids. sigh.
i have the little ones to mind all at one time but the older kids i take one at a time as they fight and ofcourse are mean, lol
how many grandkids to you have, andree? sounds like a tribe!
o7nly
just read your profile. seven is a tribe!
being a parent is hard, trying to do the best you can to bring up good decent people ,it is not easy, being a grandparent is a joy
i am so glad you find it so. i think my mother finds it a source of stress most of the time.
altho she loves all the kids!
ok, these last seven words are going to make me go even greyer.
so does my daughter in laws mother everyone is different
hey all..just been rwading the log...brought a smile to my face...i miss haviong a washing line too..
got to love the smell of line dried sheets, rolin.
morning all
*long sigh*...gawd i havent smelled that since i moved here...
there is nothing like the smell of clean sheets of a line is there rolin
hi sprite
i dont even possess a washing line..even tho i have a garden now
hey sprite
hi sprite.
and andree...like you i ran away from home too..tho i left a 28 year marriage...you make me feel like a piker...lol
funny kanga we both thought of sheets
i have the line, but not the garden, rolin :)
one of life's cheapest luxuries, andree.
oh my garden is onlt little...but its enough for me to handle...my partner is not a gardener at all
black thumbs all around in our household.
why a piker rolin
someone who runs out too early..
now ya see ...i thought that was an aussie term...
it is rolin. made me think you were an aussie expat
your timing was exactly right i should have gone 10 years before when my last child got married so you were smarter than me
yeah i am kanga...a victorian...i used to live in warrnambool...s.s.vic
lol...andree i wanted til my last child had got his uni done
one of many places i still haven't been.
my icon is spot on for a change , bridge's 75th birthday tomorrow
kanga....its beautiful..im noit much enamoured with the great ocean road...cant see the fuss really...but the town at the end are great...
if my family cooperates by not having a crisis, we're hoping to head down that way later this year.
ooohh. dinner just got called. see you later, all.
morning Babblers :)
we must me from the old school rolin, noone waits these days, so many marriages over with small children, must be hard
I am not sporting a Ghostbuster's icon today, but I put some quotes in my profile :) One of the most quoted movies in my time.
hi sherb!
celebrating 22 years together in a week, andree. and still going...
bye kanga, hi sherb
yeah....maybe we were instilled with sufficient guilt by our parents ...lol
bye kanga
how right you are rolin
lol..sprite i LOVE the second quote..i shall borrow that if you dont mind
nice medium size grid... no excuses not to do other things today...
Of course I don't mind :) They are for general use and none the worse for wear!
morning all!
morning MVA :)
let me think, sherb - having to stay around here for clues... doing the sudoku... trying out quote puzzler...
hey MVA :)
those are valid reasons, sprite... not excuses... ;)
hahahahaha! Right you are, sherb, right you are!
im off to do morning stuff...then we're off for the weekend..so ill see everyone....much later....bye all
bye rolin
bye rolin, have a nice weekend!
have a good weekend rolin, bye!
bye rolin :)

I want what the IRS levies on spanish coins to be a word!
ok, just made it up myself, but still I want it to be a word
we all make up words, well i do !
phantom: axolotl. Like atlatl, such beautiful words!
axolotl is a *wonderful* word
i didn't know that the ox5/20 & ox6/33 can connect like that...
Hello all - nice grid
hello ursh
quetzel would be a good word to have
morning ursh :)
hello ursh
oh all the things we learn from babble... so totally useless yet irresistable...
hi ursh
Anyone watching the cricket??

hi again everyone!
Was sorry England lost but poor Holland got an awful beating

6 6's ursh - brilliant
hi fran
hi mva!
hi sherb!
that will teach them, playing games that are out of their league :)
Do you think those sort of records are valid when playing a much weaker team??
hi ata, ursh, sprite and anyone else i missed!
well - it would be if i was playing ha ha
hey Fran! *hug*
yes, I think so, ursh
especially when it resulted in $1m being given to charity
eeerik, thanks for pointing out those ox words, would never have tried that!
nice icon, Fran! See my profile for some related quotes :)
oh Atalante i didnt know that
yeah, Johnnie Walker years and years and years ago promised $1m to a charity of the player's choice for whoever got the first 6 6s in 1 day cricket
nice sprite!
my husband will be away for almost 2 weeks around easter this year. I am planning on watching Ghostbusters with my kids then :)
it's a fun movie, a little silly, but good for family viewing
it is silly, but the dialogues are so great
at least i remember it to be, it's been a while since i watched it.
that scene where they must convince the mayor of the crisis, and one of them starts with "Mr Dickless here..." and then goes on explaining that the threath is real and not faked as that gentleman thinks... and then after all the explaining the mayor asks: "Is this true?" And another ghostbuster answers: "Yes. This man has no dick." The timing is SO perfect.
i'm so bad at remembering dialogue, but that is very funny
i would have to watch it several more times to actually quote from it.
i'm amazed when people can remember details like that
or when they totally demolish a dining room while chasing a ghost, and Bill tries to do the trick with pulling away the tablecloth from under the plates and all. Which of course ends in an utter mess, but he radiantly says: "The flowers are still standing!"
It is terrible, I could quote half this movie. Like I can quote almost the whole "Hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy" as well. I am a sucker for witty dialogues and wordplay.
now i want to watch it again!
what's so funny, I play GuildWars and there are lots of quotes in the game of many movies. I don't recognise most of them, but from this movie I do :) As they explain to the mayor that the end of the world is coming... "Human sacrifice, cats and dogs living together... mass hysteria!!"
hi all. back again and tearing hair out. can anyone clue the oo?
Ok, I'll stop, lol. *pulls zipper over mouth*
ooo you play Guild Wars?
hi kanga, don't do that to that beautiful hair :) Will go help looking for it.
I do, Ata - pretty addicted even :)
kanga, it's like an ee word that means creepy
oo is the normal oo5
Hi Everyone
hi lynxxx!

hi lynxxx and ty for the oo
yay kanga, go!
*pulls thinking hat on*

well okay, just a little bit longer then
specially if you have any hints on the last so5/10 (sobs)
phamtom: strep
i still need a lot of Ss kanga, my last so5/10 is plural of pustule
i think i have that one, fran...

need any clues? happy to help...
i think i found it, so + for whom the bell ***ls
ohhhh, fran. i was so sure i'd tried that. but.... fireworks!
thanks kanga, still torturing myself for now, not ready to ask for clues.
yay kanga!!!
Yay Kanga!
*collapses*
YAY kanga!
:-)
*picks self up and dusts off* anyone need a clue?
Goodnite everyone - think I might save my rest for the morning and have a v. early nite - bye!
night lynxxx!
sleep well, lynxxx.
i'm thinking the same thing. i got up early today (for me at least) to prove to my husband that i actually could and now i'm very tired.
how early is that fran?
7:15
night lynxxx :)
early enough. assuming you are, like me, not a morning person.
all the morning people are laughing right now, but it was early for me. :-)
exactly kanga!
lol, I am a morning person. I am a night person. Just count me out for the afternoons. I am totally useless in the afternoons.
lol Fran... I'm usually at work not much later than 7.15...
love afternoons. specially for naps.
see, i told you they'd be laughing! :-)
that´s about all they are good for, kanga ±D
never understood that strange air of superiority morning people have :p
i don't know if you all get the new McDonald's commercial where they show "Bob" that strange creature called a morning person...he's all cheerful and smiling while everyone else (the normal ones) need McDonald's coffee to get going.
we're only superior in the morning, kanga... by 9.00pm, I'm falling asleep on the sofa...
alas sherb, so am i. i am superior at no time.
but right now the kids need wrangling. so good night, or good morning, and see you all later!
kanga, you're pretty special here, you make me laugh all the time.
night kanga!
nite kanga :)
okay, i'm off too, 21 left for tomorrow
good night/morning/day to all of you! (hugs)
nite Fran {{hugs}} :)
night Fran *hug*

Shalom!
Hi, scrabbler buddy
G'd morning Scrabbler.
G'd morning ARB
Given these letter combinations, I find it hard to believe there are 159 words.... :)
Hello Scrabbler, LoriP
I was just reviewing the chat to find clues---9 words without even looking at the grid much
I have a long day of work ahead, so I have about 30 min to relax in Babble Land
Enjoy your Babble Scrabbler. I have the day off. Yea!
Hi again, everyone.....Hey Scrabbler, is that your Irish rabbit?
G'd morning pida
Sure it is, Pida---Patrick the Rabbit.
I can't find a single Irish word in the grid today... But Happy St Pat's day to all
I am going to wear my green turtleneck shirt to work, and give the kids St Patrick Day stickers.
And Monday is the lesser known (among non-Italians) St Joseph Day--wear red.
got to go aswimming, i.e. aquacising. BBL. Stuck on the lo's anyway. *poof*
Have fun, Inge!
Later inge.
see ya, inge

hiya Wolvie
Any strooplewafflers?
oh yes! fully cooked english stuff.... eggs, tomatoes, bacon, mushroom.... tea
G'd morning Con. Hey, I am in there, not mentally though.... :)
lol! no, no stroopwafels. I've just been to UK and eaten loads of sticky toffee pudding with cream and crunchy bars. The body is now complaning and I need to turn on the savoury stuff....
Hi Scrabbler I guess grandma is the last to know,I'll have to find out!!
I see "oreo" and I would love a cupful with milk!

Good Morning Scrabble...how are the widdle bunny foo-foos
One bunny is right near me--she follows me everywhere downstairs, which is her territory. The boys are upstairs in their rooms.
Hey! Where did these re's come from?
Jaime is a lot better! She has learned to ignore us...and makes a game of it! Guess she is preparing for her teen years.
they are here for you, Lori. ;-)
Lori, I figured you noticed them immediately, barfed, then dove in.

re's are stoopid......
yahoo Broony
The re's are usually stoopid....
And co's, de's and un's as well, and I could think of more
I think the stoopidest word of all time, is "unthaw". The hub and I had a huge Scrabbler argument some years ago, but it's a word. heh heh heh
that would rank right up there
Unthaw = refreeze, LOL
what a nasty day! couldn't let the dog out without getting 2 feet of drifted snow in the house. yuck!
Exactly Scrabbler!

Hi cliffopa,I was just reading your pro. I used to help run the animal shelter here some years ago,a very rewarding job!!

good morning
hey, smiley
I thought we were singing :=)
hiya smiley
going to be a reporter? clerk? registrar?
Judge?
well I am going to start the day now, bye everyone!
well i applied for 2 diff things. one is clerical. the other would involve family court. you would find out things about people's income and living situations and stuff and make recommendations about visitation rights and that sort of thing
those were the 2 jobs they had available. most of the jobs are only available to people who already work there. so if i could get in, there is a lot of opportunity to move around.
the factfinders and recommenders play a big role in domestics
you likely would have to testify
yes
you have to report your findings
it pays pretty well, but that's a lot of pressure.
you see the trouble is i really have no idea what i want to do. so i'm just applying to various things.
there aren't many jobs around here.
and when parents are fighting for custody, they can be mean
hopefully whoever offers me one, it will turn out i like whatever the job is!
yes - i saw dr. phil's "anatomy of a divorce"
Babblerabble
but, you would be good at it because you are fastidious and persnickety
i would? well that is encouraging.
yes, EspritdJean?
yes, EspritdJean?
sorry
just wanted to say a most excellent prayer in your profile
hiccups?

and my grandsons 5 th birthday
hi temple
good morning babblers
hi abe
the nice thing about the reporting in a custody case is being able to go to bat to get the best for the children. the children too often are used as pawns by the parents
Hi GrammaT :)
hmm, good point.
hi abe!
i'm trying not to visualize myself in any one job that i've applied for too much, because i got so excited about this one with a construction company and then it turned out they'd already hired someone.
so i'm trying to wait to get interested until i actually get interviews or something.
Hey Temple. Did you get blasted with snow?
yes, but you can never lose your sense of wonder and when you have an opportunity to dance, dance!
lee ann womack
i have a sense of wonder - i wonder if ANYONE will hire me! lol
great song
yep
yes abe. i am trying to figure out how i will get this drivewasy cleared..actually all sleet
well, I don't think negative chatter qualifies
how about you?
sorry, sorry.
Yes! The ice is halfway up my wheel-wells. Wish I had a snow blower
nah .... just put yourself in a position to succeed ... not too much too quickly
how about a flame thrower?
yes it is rather weathery, isn't it
well, that is what i am trying to do (i think)
it's an...OWLNATION
we were going to go to the parade today but it seems like too much effort to dig out the car first
good for you...... it is so wonderful to see people succeed!!
aw abe - that's tough
well, don't get ahead of yourself, i haven't succeeded yet.
hey nut! doyo have a snowblower? snowplow?
more nc, tsk tsk tsk
nope, but i have a forecast above freezing
at least babble is an indoor activity :)
that's not negative, it's just a fact
i need to be rescued!
morning all.
no need to gloat, evanonut. :)
Hi Grace
I can't see the A word, do I need a fish?
okay, kicks soapbox to the corner
I just shoveled VERY heavy snow!
fraid i'm not your girl then owl...my car is parked at the neighbors cause i couldn't get up the drive.
i think my childhood just did not prepare me for adulthood. they told me what to do, and i did it. and it came very easily. and then when college was over, and they were like, do what you want, i was like, but i have no idea what i want!
how far is your neighbor? thought you lived in the boonies
and now i've spent 5 years out of the working world, basically, and have to get into it, figure out what i enjoy, and learn to cope with actually having to struggle to get something, all at the same time!
far enough to call my husband and his 4x4
can you get corollas with four wheel drive?
hurshy, are you saying you don't know what you enjoy?
LOL Hurshy. my corolla looks very sad today in all t he snow
doubtful hursh, but you can get a vibe with all wheel
or a subaru
but vibes are cooler, and hurshy wants to be cool.
yes nut. i mean, other than word games and playing with cats and things that people don't pay you for...
why not find a job working with animals?\
If only one could get paid for teaching cats to read.
cost less i'll bet, too
finding what you like will be an adventure.
finding what you like will be an adventure.
evanonut- do you have a vibe? I rented one last summer and i found it enjoyable to drive
grace: have you discovered that they can?
lol grace
hursh, could you be an editor?
I want to give you a link, hurshy...just a sec please
will you pay me to find out?
no abe, but it's on my consideration list, along with the caliber.
i idrove a rental caliber and i loved it. a little gas miser, too
Just teach 'em to monkey-type and you could make a fortune from babble-players. At least, you could if Babble-players HAD fortunes.
i could, TO... there are lots of things i COULD do. but that's the trouble, i don't like any one thing enough to do it ALL the time. i like to have a variety of things to do.
the vibe is on my consideration list as well
yes, vi...as if half of us are not in danger of being jobless if hte boss catchies us babbling one more time...LOL
the journeyof a thousand miles, hursh...as youhave seen, nothing is permanent
no danger of that here'
this a link to an online career manual ... many do not care to spend the time to go through the process. I found it to be very good: http://www.cdm.uwaterloo.ca/ind ex.asp
thank you brabs, i'll check it out
wish you luck in your job quest, hurshy. i just finished up 2nd week of being retired. not a bad gig!
good morning all
hurdhy: do SOMETHING. it's much easier to wrok from a position of strength. then you begin to see tasks you do and don't like, and it is eaasier. i am a liberal arts person who found by chance she has a head for busiess and data. tha took many jobs and many years
congrats on your retirement, mom!
Well, but think. If your cat did all the monkey-typing for you, and you had only to type in the REAL words, you'd be that much more productive at work, and your boss would love yoU!
tks, nonnie!
Hi Nonnie
yep, i'm just trying to get some sort of job right now, TO, and then go from there :)
A problem: I have 7 O words typed in. 1 for the left column O and six for the fourth column. It shows on my Word List. It shows me as missing 2 "O" words in the fourth column. I reloaded the page. Nothing helps. Any ideas?
Hursh, I didn't get the job I wanted out of college, and took something else as a stop-gap, and the something else turned out to be the vocational love of my life. Job's are not permanent, you can always switch if it turns out to be a bad fit.
refresh
especially now, vi....there is not the stigma that used to be attached to job hopping, it's expected that people will move on
FIREWORKS!
yep. i just hope it doesn't hurt me that i spent 5 years only working part time.
congrats merk!
congrats, Merk
Yes, my elderly father-in-law gets terribly worried when his sons are constantly switching jobs, but they're all doing just fine!
O'Charm wishes all of y'all a fine St. Paddy's day.
TY
yay merk, hello O Charm
yay merk! top o the monin o'charm
lol, ty o'charm and the same to you!
what's irish and sits outside?
Yay Merk! Hi O'Charm! Same to you
Well, hursh, even if it hurts you in this round, once you land SOMETHING you'll have that building up your resume, and the next time you could get something that eluded you this time around.
Hey, grammaterri, TO, Nonnie, Abe!!
would that be Paddy O'Furniture?
lol yep mom
lol mom
argh.
go for the postive. many people who will interview you can relate to a divorce situation
lol mom and gramma!
hi vic
lol mom and gramma t
Hello, grammat!
yeah hursh, and in ten years, if they don't hire you, you can claim age discrimination
not that they can ASK - better forget that last comment
or that you should tell them
i just hope i can land something, lol... there are really so few jobs around here.
There's positive thinking, evanonut! lol
you have to be 40 or above to claim that
oh, i don't mind being candid about things, TO. as you probably know. :)
I can't seem to monkey the ae7 - I know it starts with the ae4 - some help with the ending?
candid is diffferent than buseiness like and bringing up the personal at that stage is not business like
i don't mind candy either hurshy, i like candy
it's a law they can't ask so don't tell
But "Candide" was never my favorite.
ae7 ae4+took a seat
i have been involved in EEO council at work for years
pe7--does it start with the spanish money word?
nonnie- pe 7- beginning of money + estimated time of arrival + plural
LOL
gee, owl, so what does it say about not promoting better qualified employees who use fmla in favor of less qualified???
fmia? *she asks hesitantly*
ty abe!
oh fmLa
yw, Nonnie :)
you could not get it?
fmLA...yes sweetie ppooo pooerie
youare kidding me
i got it owl, i can't get a promotion because i use it
sorry i need to clean these glasses
good morning
morning momof3
HI Mom
off line discussion, sweetie poo
naw, that was more of a gripey remark
before i look..is this grid scary,,...like yesterday's 107???
what is fmla? or do i not want to know
atour place , people sued because they were away at desert storm and were not considered for promotion. they wonthe case
well honey, they pretended to consider me
more enjoyable than yesterdays, momof3--I think!
they were still employess and had not been given the opportunity to apply
i hope so nonnie
and same for people on maternity leave
Good morning and Happy St. Patrick's Day to all
not that i can't see it from the companies point of view
Family Medidal Leave Act, hursy
Morning, Babblers! Happy St. Paddy's day.
Good morning Mom
Morning Judi, same to you
Good morning Abe
medidal = medical
hi shamrock judi
Hi Judi
good morning judi!
does anyone know the story about the border patrol agents in jail in texas??? ramon and compean?
sometimes, nut - it's the unfair part of life. nut, osomeone i work with is a 13 and constantly sick - has not hurt her
judi - when did you sneak in
you mean gs?
no momof3--I have not
yes maam - sometimes she works from home if she is well enough. she is asthmastic
9:26 a.m., TO. But, I've been lurking for about 1/2 hour.
I have not heard about it, Momof3
she is whip smart
yes well, i image the more important you are the easier it is to make a case. but i image that since they're paying 5,000 a year to educate me, they'll reconsider.
nonnie..it is appalling...we have two agents, in jail for shooting a drug dealer trying to cross our border, illegally, for the 2nd time...and the agents are in jail..and the dealer got granted immunity by our govt to testify against them...and he is suing us for $5 mil..and we offered him means to become a citizen!!!
i knew a prof who felt she did not get tenure because she'd had breast cancer and thus didn't publish as much... :(
if they have any sense they will. that's alot are they college credit courses?
apparently i can't type imagine
yes owl
wow, mom of 3
when you get a chance..go to www.youtube.com, go under glenn beck, 2/7/07 and 2/8/07.. they are only a few minutes long....you will be sickened.
thanks mom of 3
well good for you! and they are stupid not to see it that wasy. human resources must be managed just like other resources. if not take them for allit's worth till you are marketable enough to go elsewhere.
then thumb your nose at them
could owl, then i'd have to pay them back
private companies do what you do i worked for a private security/alarm firm that did that also
did you sign anything?
ty momof3--I'll check that out. Why do you think our gov. is trying to sell them out?
if so it should have a limit like you can't leave for X years without repayment
because we have gutless politicians ... who can't stand up without fear of losing votes..and i am sure money and conspirancy are involved...greed is killing us.
yes owl, two years, but it doesn't say per course, per year...so i imagine most of it would be difficult to act on. don't really plan to leave anyway, plan to torture them.
Gutren MOrgen, Babblers, I am back for my last 67 words. They want me to relog in.
as only you can. nut!
how many words this grid, by the way?
hello anyas!
hello anyas

my kids clean....that isn't fair of me tosay they don't but they are slobs..they wouldn't have to clean half as much if they would just put things away when they were done...

i understand they are kids adhd..but the thing that drives me NUTS NUTS NUTS..is , for example.. they are playnig video games...please explain why they feel the need to pull all the blankets/ sheets off the bed and throw ALL THE GAMES, not just the one they are playing..but all of them, out of the containers?? iw ould die happy if i had an answer to that
pe 5/12 pe + just out of ***ch
yw mac
funny you say that mom... i was at their house the other day and every game was out lol
hi guys how are you all doing today!
so...what is up with that??? these are $50 plus games...they get destroyed..and the dvd's too...drives me nuts.
the trick is to try not to lose your cool.... the second you raise your voice, you've lost the battle and they effectively tune you out.
hey pink
have you calmed down now momof3boys?
they tune me out...but then i take everything away..i literally unplug the game unit and put it in my room...they have gone as long as a week without it.
calmed down, pink??/ i am fine, why?
my 8 yr old grandson had to go without it all last summer
se6? i asked a while ago, but i don't think anyone clued it?
it won't kill them
last night you was quite passionate about the man and the 10 week old baby
wow...tough one..all summer, huh??? i fixed the solution about buying games though...i don't buy them. they earn allowance...if and when they save up enough money..then (if i am in a good mood) they can buy a game. i refuse to use my money anymore.
we have unplugged day every now and then. don't even turn the computer or tv on.
se + the parks lady who wouldn't sit in the back of the bus..
jm
thanks
hi all.. a bit of babble time for me.. Happy St. Patty's day to everyone thinkin green today
ooohhh..pink..thought you were talking about the kid convo me and adhd are having??? lol...no..the man with the 10 wk old baby should be strung up by his crotch and left to die slow and painful.
good for you m om. in the end it will teach them to respect their stuff if they have to pay for it. that's the way my dad taught me.
heard on the radio this morning, that if a child repeatedly offends, YOU say nothing but stare him down, take his hand walk him to his room and then say qietly: becasue you contineud hitting your sister (or wahtever) you willnow stay in your room for a while. They will then know that your look without words means business
what man with a baby
ingy,,,i say smack up side the head
been there, done that inge...it does work...but a few days go by and they transgress again..but i do find now that they are getting a little older, they do police themselves..i have resorted to punishing EVERYONE when one offends....this way i get the right one..LOL...i don't hear he did it anymore.. LOL
nutty buddy, I have been listening all along, jobs and kids, and I am not involved any more, no more kids at home and retired
adhd...a man beat his 10 wk old baby to death
inge..you are involved..we could benefit from your experience :)
#] when i was growing up all my mum had to was give me the look that meant she was serious even at the age of 22 she still does and it still unnerves me (i have always had a health fear of my mum)
nut, might be illegal in some countries... but a smack on the backside never killed a kid
then HE should be beaten to death sloooooooowly
who broke babble?
hey, guys, my caht log disappeared below Mr. Pres. entry,
i say, spare the rod, spoil the child, as well.
mine too
de6?
sorry about that guys daughter pressed a button that made a huge gap in the log
hello, I think Babble is a really great game
well I will dive back on for 36 more words then
spoil the rod and spare the child... depends on the child too
ADH, I'm in favor of peeling the skin off inch by inch, then smearing with honey and unleashing red fire ants
de 5 is that sand space with the oasis in the middle
what happened pink? a million spaces

from the French 'gratuit' = free...
oh.... gratuities sounds a lot grander than tips.... I htought it had to do with investment stuff aswell...
this was just a followup
ORIGIN late 15th cent.(denoting graciousness or favor): from Old French gratuité or medieval Latin gratuitas ‘gift,’ from Latin gratus ‘pleasing, thankful.’

I walk the pup there sometimes :)

Old Forest? where's that? I know the New Forest... I love woods and hills and old trees. That's where I'd love to live - all of that and a babbling brook next to the house... ****sigh****
Back again. A well-balanced breakfast does not seem to be helping me find many words. Down to 53
its a Tolkien thing, sorry! oh yes, babbling brooks are essential
got 5 words by adding RE to my list! lol
LOL! oh ok! as in NZ :))) Also a place I'd love to visit. And babbling brooks sound like home to me. I grew up in Lincolnshire (S. Humberside) where there was one next to the house - it's now programmed in as sounding like home...
I grew up with one too ...
good tip feather!
where did you grow up ata?
i only do the ones that might connect on the third letter.
Feel priviliged to have a babbling brook next to my house. Even has a little bridge across. All the tykes in the neighborhood come to splash about and catch minnows.

It is that, Atalante. Even the cat enjoys going down there to hunt in the grasses and bat at the little fishes.
Hello, all. Judi, why the lovely array of snakes?
i'm guessing for st. patrick's day?
Oooohhh.
I don't know the COtswolds very well - although we went to gloucestershire for our honey moon. I climed a very steep high hill....
St. Patrick's Day, Vicuna. Waiting for them to be driven out.
St Patrick had many virtues, but kindness to snakes was not among them.

ro5,10
yay, down to 29, mostly on my own! probably stole about a dozen clues or so

wow judi, where abouts in usa?
sounds great Judi :)
the cotswolds are beyond beautiful, and I can see why the whole world wants to visit, but when you can't actually get into your own village because the roads are blocked by tour coaches ...

really Ata. would you help me?
no problem peri... email me your objective for seeking a "career change" and i will work on it. i believe i can help.
I've helped lots of friends move. Does that count as a a transferable skill? or just as a transferring skill?
Oh yes, I forgot you have a grove. Still, do they express their hunger by tapping on your windows, or grabbing you as you walk by?
great atlante... you put together the cv and i'll make it look pretty
of course, peri. my email's in my profile!
peri my friend began in your feild and changed many times would be great if you got that kind of help

like I said, I am not working from a list, so I am not sure if that is what you need. To have carried something is to have to 5/12
out of the three you said i was missing before, i got the 4/5 and the p/t for the 6/24
I think you're missing the following do 4/5
do you have the person who accomplishes things?
grr hit backspace instead of return and entire box disappeared
agggh, Minski
oo 5/10 plz
it's a babblet, prism - oo + pirate letter + two vowels
I have TO6: members of British Gov't, plural of yummy desserts, carriers, walker. what am I missing?
i never do get those oo words
and hello folks. what's the theme today?
this is what i have..in order.... 4/5, rhymes with boat, and p/t....person who accom. yes...and pl, that adverb, the 4/5 that sounds like door, to cater to someone 4/5, the p/t of that, the person who does that 5/12, pl....and pl of the act of catering to someone 5/12.....then i have 6/24 i do++++ all my "i"'s, and the person who does the do++ing, and the pl...6/21 and 7/32 respectively
Hi Leslie Ann

lol, stid. And justly so!

What a sweet picture, Stid
nan...what was the clue about knowledge, for the lo's
later nan!
Bye bye Cybernan
Bye, cyber.
so Vi -- why do you have a renaissance cardinal for your icon?
mom of 3, folk lo**

He's a doge, stidmama. It was yesterday's clue.
i got that one...ty
sorry - i had a phone call - add one more person now
oh. *grin* doge, of course!
scrolled back - yeah vic!! great idea - i'll get right on that soda bread - brb
momof3, and the plural also
got that...can't figure out what i am missing.
so it's a typical irish feast is it? "Always room for one more" *elbows kid further down the bench*
But he's been looking disapprovingly at everything I've typed in the log all day, so I'll have to get rid of him.
1st pe 5/12 plz
got not win,
Sorry, Prismmgc, I can't help
sorry, not listing yet...
my husband is 1/2 irish... yet we're having eggs for dinner.
though I may go early, I seem to have hit a wall.
didn't someone just post a soda bread recipe here (or somewhere) & said it takes a week to 'ferment' or something like that, or am i confusing that with stollen?
cubschick, what an adorable picture!!
i never made soda bread helen..sorry
the stollen tastes best after a week, for sure, but soda bread wouldn't!
cubsc - no one here is irish - we are O' ******skis today :))
ok..bbl...i have company..don't want to be rude.
later mom!
pe 5/12 - is that the one that rhymes with a line of poetry?
bye momof3
i am definitely not making any soda bread now - that was just a joke, come on people, i'm only human (on my good days)
google: soda bread recipe & see what you come up with
see you before the flip....
bye mom
uper
No clue Nonnie
oh geez, I'm so sorry
I could have at least given you a real word. :(
didn't work anyway... LOL
i made some soda bread the other day, hk, it did take a while but not a week - for a first time maker, i agree not a good idea right now
pris - actually - i still have to google corned beef & cabbage to know what to do with the cabbage - any hints? do i cut it up into wedges before i boil it? do i boil it in the same pot as the corned beef - in the icky corned beef water?
Mom, put an ess in front of the word in the chat
tx - LA - off the hook on the soda bread now! whew!
I usually take the cornde beef out & then put the cabbage in. it only takes mins for it to boil
bye momof3
no no helen, cabbage in its own pot! cut it in quarters or eights before you put it in the water, core out of course!
pris - in that same water? do you cut it up first?
otherwise the corned beef tastes cabbage-y... (personal experience, yes)
I cut it in wedges. I do it in the same pot so it gets the good taste going thru it
Thanks Annie, off to fix the word
hk, the cabbage is usually wedged and cooked in the icky water....you could add a tablespoon of sugar about 1 hour before everything is done
crap - now dissention between stid & pris - what's a non-irish girl to do???
flip a coin, helen
lol... well Helen... You want to make sure you have the core of the cabbage left on the wedges. that way it won't fall apart
rut-roh - this may be as bad as arguing religion or politics here
ah pris - i wouldn't have thought of that - thanks!
if you take the beef out before putting the cabbage in it, the beef won't have that cabbage taste
annie - do i take the corned beef out before i add the sugar?
Good afternoon/evening all.
i've never had corned beef and cabbage so i certainly can't help.
hi everyone ... I am here to get my last 2 words and assist with clues (if I can!!!)
hey haz
Annie, I don't have two s's together
no, just add it with the cabbage
hello mo
Hi Haz
Hi Mo
Can I just say that it would probably shock most people living in Ireland to think that you're serving corned beef and cabbage as a festive St Patrick's meal!
mo! Help me with the 1st pe 5 plz
okay - let me get this straight - now - i cook the corned beef til it's done, then put in the cabbage & a tablespoon of sugar - yes?
I like pris' idea of doing the cabbage in the water AFTER the beef comes out...
haz, i think hk has bigger problems than that now ;)
I like the cabbage to still be a little crisp so I don't boil it for hours with the corned beef
well Haz, we've been so long removed that for us it IS a treat! what about you? what do you serve today?
on the bright side, being polish, i'm a whiz with the potatoes
Mom, just add one ess to the U word you had typed before, I meant put it in front
pris ... pe + the back of minus last letter.
mo... <scratching head> huh??
haz - WHAT ???? now you tell me - what's the deal with that?
Well, to be honest, there isn't anything special associated with St Patrick's day food here! At least, not in this house.
mom, did you have it?
haz - um, & you're irish are you?
actually, we can't eat beef because of my allergies, so today it is clam stew... :-(
helen - the first time I heard about the American custom of serving corned beef and cabbage on St Patrick's day, I nearly had a fit. We had American visitors who told us and I could hardly credit it.
Annie, (face reddened with embarrassment), I have the word for dinner. I am confused on the "ess" part.
someone last night said there was an ox6? is this true?
my english has flown away...Mom, do you have it?
yes.. there's an ox 5/6 combo
Well, good political question there, helen. I'm British, living in Northern Ireland, so a bit of both. Have a look at my icon. I'm probably closer to where St Patrick worked than anyone else here.....
pris ... pe + not pretend, minus last letter.
I have a su word for dinner. I am not getting the ess
hm. okay, so thinking...
ty mo... that one I got
geee - i wish we had this conversation a few days ago & i would have used that irish purity excuse - lenny wanted to order pizzas - *hk regrets inherent celebratory nature*
ah, ty mo
i didn't! thanks mo
yw Nonnie.
well, i think the folks will still eat it, hk!!
glad to help.
If I wanted to serve a typical Irish menu, it would be something like local smoked salmon, lamb with seasonal vegetables and a Bailey's cheesecake.
We've been invited to 3 parties starting at 4 this afternoon (I'm west coast time). Last one is a costume contest
Mom, I'm sorry, i meant put the S in front of the up** word you typed in the grid>>>like su***man
haz - now, excuse my ignorance, but i thought northern ireland was where the brits don't live - or are you in the minority?
hubby tie-dyed a kilt
I have ancestors from County Down... those are the ones I can pinpoint. the others were from the south, last name "Murphy" -- no chance ever finding them!
other way round helen...
bailey cheesecake - brilliant !!! again, wish we had spoken days ago! :(
leslieann...my son LOVES your icon! HI EVERYONE!!!
yay slimer! :)
help please with the 1st lo5/10 and lo6/18, thank you.
haz- that sounds delicious. make sure you invite us to that feast!
prism what's your costume?
Annie, I am so brain fried, I can't even spell the word for dinner properly. I meant su***man. THank you for your help. I didn't mean to be so much trouble
hi chatty cathy!
Quick history lesson, helen - between 1701 and 1922 Ireland was governed by Britain. In 1922, the 26 counties of the south became self-governing (Eire), 6 counties of Ulster became Northern Ireland and remained British.
lol...no one's called me that in YEARS!!!!!!!!
HK.. there's an irish casino here. they take regular cheese cake & pour irish cream over it
Mom. thanks for that last comment, I was so at a loss!
lol, Stid, you are welcome. I am so fried.
i read 'trinity' by leon uris ages ago & that made me aware of the catholic/protestant problem - specifics, i forget, sorry
my mom's here for a visit...so won't be here long
just thought I'd pop in
Mom, you are not trouble, it is not possible, glad you got it
Not a problem, helen - the divisions in Ireland have been going on for a long time, but things seem to be getting better.
{{Hugs}} Annie, that you
thanks haz - have you ever read 'trinity' - i loved it, too bad i have crs now
thank you*
glad you did cathy. {{{hugs}}}
{{{hugs bk}}}
and with that ... I am going away. Can't even type correctly. Bye for now
No, I haven't read it helen - sometimes it's difficult to read other people's views of your history....
bye Mom.
Later, {{{{Mom}}}}
bye mom! see you later
bye Mom.
You all are so sweet. Thank you for being here.
bye mom
it's a historical novel, he's a great writer - but i know what you mean - same thing for me with movies - didn't see sophie's choice until just a couple of years ago & will probably never see schindler's list
hi, all!
cu l8r mom
hi pianoman
on the other hand, it's hard for people who aren't "from" somewhere to understand it without things like the novels...
1st lo5/10 and 6/18 pleeeease anyone?
hello piano
hey pianoman
Strangely enough, Schindler's List stars Liam Neeson - from this town!
helen, have a wonderful time at your dinner
Haz ... love your view.
I am going to start dinner so bye till later
Later annie!
Isn't it nice? If I walk five minutes from the house I can see it clearly. Sheep are still grazed there.
bye annie
I am just not able to find the OX 5 and 6. help please?
any help on the oo?
ox + consonant + thursday night nbc hospital show
i agree stid. especially when the people who lived through so much of our histories aren't around to tell the stories anymore.
ox5 and 6 - great Scottish word for armpits....
ooh...i just monkey'd them stid...ox + an exam, minus the last letter

Bye helen - hope it goes well.
this grid makes me want cookies. "Oreo" is staring me in the face right now.
mmmm... oreos
Evening all - love the icon Haz. Did you climb it today?
oreos????
back.
hi
hello candy, karissa
No, candy, I didn't (shame upon me). The last time I climbed Slemish was not a happy occasion....
go prism go...
doat
no oreos where you are mo?
oops
I got stuck on the way down. I tend to admire hills from afar.
Hi everyone
*grin* and thanks for the other O... fish please!
hey lbdQ
or lbd.... *sigh* dumb figners.
England ... northish.
hi lb, great minds think alike
I was just wondering if the Q was a babblet for honorary Irish
I live at the foot of it and haven't climbed it for years but a man was horrified when I told him that this morning.
LA! yup we are on the same track!
must be an american thing. they are little chocolate sandwich cookies with frosting in between. terrible for you, but strangely delicious.
Candy, were you here for the discussion about the traditional St Patrick's Day menu in America (corned beef and cabbage)
i'm sure they're just called something else there: http://www.flatrock.org.nz/topics/educ ation/assets/oreos.jpg
No Haz I must have missed that
corned beef, cabbage, red taters, and green beer
So, reassure me, would you ever serve corned beef and cabbage as a festive meal?
CubsChick ... so a kind of biscuit then? sounds great.
I can't even lift a tin of corned beef without my stomach heaving!
mmmm red taters....
(our corned beef is different to their corned beef)
here you go mo... http://www.nabiscoworld.com/oreo/
Candy, i never liked the stuff before. i've since learned how to cook it so it is palitable.
It would have to be a lot different before I could eat it
CubsC ... thanks i will look at that.
candy, it's a brined brisket
theirs is proper beef :P
the potatoes suck the salt out of the meat... and the corned beef here often has a sugar glaze which is quite nice.
what do use over across the pond?
never knew corned beef might be canned!
evening all :)
hello sherb!
hello sherb
hello sherb
Hello sherb!
Atalante, what is English corned beef like?
hi sherb. stid, maybe what they use is potted meat. which is definitely different depending on region
besides the obvious "disgusting" answer...
...did anyone see Catherine Tate meet Tony Blair?
That sounds a bit better. My granny always cooked coddle on St Paddy's day. It is bacon, cabbage and potatoes layered and baked in the oven. It was alright
I think potted meat is "spam"?
http://tinyurl.com/2v8xc3
ooh that sounds wonderful, candy! yeah granny!
thats our corned beef
ewww. yuck. icky icky icky ptang gag!
Guten Tag, Babblers. Fihished this morning but am listening to the chat. Love your latest chapter, stid
wait a second. your corned beef is the same as our spam??
Yes, I would saute onion and bacon cubes, and cook the cabbage with that, but cooked lightly, not boiled to mush...
here are the fellows home. back in a couple. thanks inge, I got your email! :-)
spam is even worse
urgh, that looks more like spam to me.
No, spam is a ham 'replacement'.
I would also add carrots and onions
Hi Inge
they used to put spam in our UNRA packages in post WWII Germany
if there wasn't that gelatinous gunk in it, it might be tolerable...might be.
since I was still a vegetarian I never ate that stuff
In Korea, American spam is considered a delicacy...sells for big bucks
gross. Husband and I work with Middle School kids, and we make them eat spam for games, as a cruel joke. We would never eat it seriously. I can't even handle the smell.
i need to go put the cabbage and taters on so they will be done with the corned beef. bbl
Don't start boiling cabbage at the same time as potatoes! It's death to flavour!
DrWed, so are dogs
only half the cabbage gets done to death. other half likes soggy veggies...me, i'll have mine barely blanched.
That's reassuring to know....
really gone now...*poof*
well, I am going to finish baking cookies (chocolate cookies, green frosting when they're done) and then run out to get some potatoes for my clam stew. later all!
hi all ... ae 7 clue please
That's what I hear...Vietnam especially likes to serve dog
cookies!! save me one stid!
bye stid, and lb
spam and corned beef are totally different ..... try a corned beef and picallili sandwich! Spam is like eating soft plastic.
It is all cultural...eating beef is considered gross in India
ae 4/4 + past tense to sit
the ae 4, plus past tense of sit
ty kindly
just talked to our dasughter in Las Vegas, she attends UNVL as a Russian history masters student

having p word issues, any clues about?
pe + *** the table for dinner + first vowel?
pe5/12 - structured like a ladies bag, but different vowel
and plural
pe6 - Spanish money and plural.
pe4/5 - description given to all young heroine' chests..
pe4 - Mexican money.
lol at the chest clue
I'm too refined to be more specific...
and pe + pirate letter + two vowels
how do you plural the hand bag?
You don't - it's structured the same way as what you call your handbag in the States, or what you do with lips to show disapproval. Just use a different vowel at the start.
you don't
there isnt a plural for that one.
now i get it
The other pe5/12 is pe plus to begin to peruse a book.
2nd lo6/18 anybody?
p's complete ty
It adds a vowel to the lo5/10 before it to make it rhyme with plural fairy tale.
dan - lo6 .... large vehicles minus the doule letter.
tx
sorry double!!
any more clues before i go and relax with a rather large Scotch?
have fun with the scotch, mo... thanks for the clues
yw Leslie and thank you too for your help.
Good afternoon/evening Babble Team!
Have a nice evening, mo.
hello scrabbler
Hello Scrabbler, nice to see you!
thanks Haz and you too.
hi, scrabbler
Hi LeslieAnn (my youngest sister = Leslie Christine)
terd
hello and bye Scrabbler.
And fyberart returns! Fully addicted, right?
no, no, I was monkeying in the wrong box! yes, it's fatal.
Hi Hazel--cool icon and story--it looks idyllic where you live.
but I'm stuck on stupid te4,4 word
Well, if you must call me a terd, so be it.. Sticks and stones may hurt my bones, but words will never hurt me. LOL
I should point out that it's about five miles from where I live, but I can see it from the top of the road.
I have multiple beverages, and multiple fredericks
Yesterday I was a fart. Fair is fair.
on the contrary, scrabbler, some of these words have been quite painful for me
te 4/4 = another word for a nipple
I agree, Leslie--I am trying to finish the lo's. I was here this Am, before work, and I have 52 to go

um....27 r's..that enough.
It's always time to eat in my book!
please say that is enough r's...27 sounds like enough, don't you think?
27 from the middle r... but also five from the left-hand r

oh..must sort them out then...ty les
re 6/24 past tense of re 5/12 - reduce, re***, recycle

haven't gotten to the s's..sorry scrab
I just found se5
Hello pam! How are you doing? Welcome to the puzzle
se5 - relates to the se4 before it. The se6 and 7 are a combo, beginning with the same first three letters as the se5, otherwise, quite different.
Hi, Min!
Congratulations dan2bit on fireworks! Good for you!
Goodbye dan2bit! I will see you tomorrow in the chat
anyone else watching BC v Georgetown?
thanks--I've recycled
I want to watch B-ball, but I want to Babble too...
9 re's enough?
Am doing both equally badly, Scrabbler!
nope, am watching Ireland vs Pakistan
that's why hurshy put her computer and tv in the same room now
i am watching house, recorded from last night
But, I am leaving soon to hang out with friends for the alter games...
? alter games?
me too hursh..problem is..when the kids want to watch it, and i don't want to hear it while i am on the computer LOL
Well, there's an unequal pairing. Ireland is not great at cricket....
Oh, Hursh, I watched thatearlier today---LOVED it and did not see it when it first aired
*later games, scrabbler...
how many re words are there? i have 9
ireland is WINNING haz!
I can't believe that I lived without a DVR for all the time I did. Now, i make such good use of it!!!
LOL, Pam--I wondered if there was some new type of game involving altered states or something
pam, i'm seeing the louisville/ a&m game here
hi everyone, happy st.p's day
see mom, i have the solution for that - i don't have kids
Seriously? It must be our lucky day.
there are 11, momof3
yup, they should win unless anything dramatic happens
hello rae
lol, scrab
will tell you when they do. should be soon
I want louisville.....
Hello raelite! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid
There are games at the HSBC Arena here in Buffalo--14,00 people came into town Thurs and yest. I saw lots of busy-ness around the arena a few hrs ago when I made rounds at the children's hospital
Well, that's amazing. Of course, they did once beat the West Indies - back in the 1960's or something.
Hi Atalante! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid!
it *looks* - maybe - as if they will get through to the quarter-finals. big big upset
Buffalo is certainly benefitting, Scrabbler!
scrabbler, you guys had the best game in the tournament so far - vcu upsetting duke
They are predicting $4 million aded to the economy here from hosting the games for 4 days
If Ireland wins, is that huge? I am cricket ignorant
GOod, scrabbler, the area needs it
Yes, I have a tennis buddy that was at that game, Leslie
pretty big news for cricket, yeah. think outer mongolia beating the USA at baseball
it's a close one, pam - 68-67 a&m at the moment, but louisville has the ball
true, leslie
It would be highly unusual. Cricket needs dry weather conditions. Hence the lack of opportunity to play it much....
wow, atalante
I found se6 and se7--anatomy words
1 to go!
sorry..jumping from here to messaging a friend.. well, someone i hope to be a friend LOL....ty to whoever answered me....

Oh, I am going to the LR to watch the end of that game, Leslie

oohhh no scrab..no sonny....santino it is... and yes, believe it or not..i did test them for holler ability...someone suggested paul as a middle name for vincent..there was no flow..it fell flat..try it, you will see LOL
Fyberart--people that "do" things are called do***
names have to have a good rhythm. sort of like the meter in poetry
I have the accomplishers
I have seen so many naming trends for kids, and some pretty awful choices too, and awful spellings
Then, fyberart, there are a total of 5 words starting with dot

li4 and li5 = French words, in li** of something (substitution)
AHA!!! thank you!
lo5 and lo6 = rhyme with Donald Duck's 3 nephews, Huey, Dewey and Louie <----that one
li5= li + to spoil (like food)
*mwah!* that was a big wet sloppy kiss on your cheek!
only missing one LO now
i had a feeling it was the vowels that were throwing me off, as i think i've tried everything else
lo6=multiples of our our Nova Scotia friend, Lo**
have that one
Or maybe you need lo5= lo + Greek guy Pla** + snake
i have 3 lo4, 4 lo5, 2 lo6
that was it!
you're a great mind reader scrabbler
Aha, yeah!
that's brought me down to 12

I do have a gift of intuition--it scares me.

Hi, Scrabbler and Mom... no, Scrabs... I'm home at night, sober and warm...and Babbling my little brains out! LOL
Hello Andree! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid
I am too, just got back from my parents house. The boys are out and my sweetie is sitting looking on the computer for electrical stuff.
Babble, basketball on TV, maybe watch a movie, hang out with my bunnies...and I am on-call, so I will get paged occasionally, or not at all if I am lucky
Hi Andree
Hi, Andree! Hi, Minveryork!
Hi Minveryork

LOL, Mom!
I'm surprised nobody else has a shamrock as an icon!
LOL

I looked at some, then went with an Italian theme.
Hi everyone. My mom (inge) wanted me to type a message since she just upgraded me to pro.
the party happening in Sydney today is the harbour bridge's 75th birthday, closed to traffic so approx 300,000 peorle can walk across
hi anyas
Hi Inge's daughter! Guten abend, wie geht's?
Hi Anyas
That is a BIG party, Andree!
Hello anyas_wrath! How are you?Welcome to the grid
r5/20 please
gut, danke.
Hello, anyas_wrath... lucky lady to have such a wonderful mother...she's setting you on the right path!
why can't Rold be a word?? We have Rold Gold Pretzels here!
gracias...

thanks, scarlet, but I actually turned her on to Babble! I just could never afford to upgrade.
LOL Mom! I agree with you! I love Rold Gold Pretzels!
thx scrabbler, knew it must use that letter but too blind to see
They are by far the best pretzel around, Snyder's sourdough hard pretzels, a close second
I have Rold Gold pretzels too--I like to snack on the big sourdough ones, for a salt fix
The salt-free Rolds make for incredible, chocolate-dipped pretzels...white or dark... a daughter favorite.
I have never had a chocolate covered pretzel
They are huge in the tri-state area of NY, PA and NJ... I don't really like them much, but the kids and grandchildren go nutzo!
first re5,10?
sorry, Scrabbler :( wish I could help
My sister-in-law makes the white chocolate covered pretzels. I have to say that they are pretty delicious
Is it the old newspaper term or re+*** type?
re 5/10 word is to grease something again Scrabbler.
What kind of type?
Thank you Minver
That's the one, Min-TY
Linotype... they used to be called type-***ters
I have that re5, but TY
YW
Thank you Scarlet

chocolate covered pretzels!!! that used to be my pms craving in college. covered the chocolate and the salt needs in one shot.
lol, featherbee
Wow, feather, I never had the salt/chocolate combo.
close to heaven, i tell you
Oh geez, just looked at the tile stats ... no a or r words from the first column ... off to search
Didn't think I would like them myself, but I actually do
then there are gertrude hawk's peanut butter dipped, chocolate covered pretzels. bliss
There's an insane chocolate following here in
love Hershey's chocolate
yeah, that's my current pms fix, a hershey bar
Asheville, and some of the favorites are cayenne and Dead Sea Salt chocolates... Gertrude Hawks was just down the road from my sisters' home in Scranton... Ooooo
I like dark chocolate, and with almonds ro peanuts----mmmmm
never had pms, but anytime is a good time for a Hershey bar
Take5 candy bars cover the chocolate/pretzel/carmel
You never had PMS???? Oh my gosh!
i'm about an hour from scranton...must by why GH is big here. i'm also not too far from Hershey, PA. forget how many hours. no wonder we love chocolate over here!
Scrabbler... you and my beloved would get along just fine... he loves dark and almond and peanuts... Oh, my, do I have any chocolate in the house??!!
no, I never did
I do not like chocolate as much as I used to, but I do like any kind of chocolate w/nuts him in. Like M&M's with peanuts in them or chocolate with almonds in it.
**getting paged** Calling Dr Scrabbler. Dr Scrabbler, we need you...
hi babblers!
mmmm, the smell of a freshly opened bag of M&Ms....scuse me, must wipe off drool
so sorry to hear that, Scrabbler. Be careful going out
Mcurl... you're talking my language.. butter caramels and more.... and chocolate...

I have TO6/18: members of British Gov't, plural of yummy desserts, carriers, walker. what am I missing?
Hi, hillary, Hi, FranMag, Hi, Stid.
hi scarlet!
hey scarlet!
minski, "walked"
whatever it is, i'm missing it too minski
before "walker"
okay, off to be on phone again. later!
Stid... clam stew... oooohhhh, so good!
isn't that a 6/21 fran?
bye stid!
bye Stid
oh duh!
Later, Stid!
oh wait! it's up higher, first to6/18, to + flower
yay, i was missing that one!
i skipped right over it.
one T word left
I have eight to words that begin with the same three letters
make that second to6/18, after members of government
Ok, I am back--reassured a mom about a fever in her 5 yr old--I saw the kid in the office earlier
That was it to+flower. Thanks Fran.
Scarlet, I have nine
Only one more a TO5/10 but I'm not sure which one.
kid ok scrabbler?
oh good scrabbler.
Scrabbler... you are a rare doctor... You remind me of beloved physician, Luke.
minski, do you have the one that is almost a fortune telling card? to + spoil?
fran, want to help me narrow down which T word I'm missing?
Yes--she sounds fine. Most of pediatrics = parent psychology. We spend most of our time reassuring parents.
Minski, Trick or Tr***??
sure heather
I counted again, Mom... it's eight.
TO5/10 right under TO+flower please for fireworks.
Great Saint Luke! Amen!
minski, check my clue below
Nope that was it MOm
Are you talking the tor words?
it's a TO, i know that much. i have (get your glasses on to count!) 12 to4......
*****FIREWORKS!!!!!*****
Congrats Minski
But most doctors don't take the time anymore... my father was a country doctor and would take five pounds of potatoes or a freshly-slaughtered chicken as payment... or nothing at all. Yea! Minski!!
congrats minski
and 8 to5. it has to be one or the other.
Yippeeeeeee Minksi! Great work!
it's not a to4
I got all but the last 2 this afternoon then we had to go out. I just now got back to my computer to finish.
yay minski!
9 TO5s heather, so it's to5 you're missing
When I was a country doc we accepted items from the Amish instead of money--I miss the Amish--simple, honorable people!
12 to 4 is correct
yup
Its a to5 that you are missing
7 to5/10 and one to5/12
I have spent at least 15 min trying to find the second re4,5 and it shouldn't be this tough!
Scrabbler, have you ever considered writing a book about country doctoring? Some of the young upstarts could learn a thing or two...
can anyone help with the oo?
8 to5/10s heeather
hillary, if it were an ee it would be "creepy"
think of our gov't system. there is the senate and the house of .........
do you mean the ones who are in the house, as opposed to the senate? abbreviated form
I want to write a book about what I have learned so far, from all of my experiences
OO + what you control the horses with... ***n (s)
ok fran....monkeying!
oo5 is spelled like ee5 would be
Scrabbler, I would love to read it
gotta go see yhou on the flupside
thanks, i would never have hit that combination
You must really think about the contribution it would make to those who feel the vocation...
I have notes, and most of it is in my head---I have so many kids' stories to share
Bye bye Minski
YW hillary
bye minski!
RE's are done, on to the RO's for my last 9
got it! 7 left
Please don't wait until "some day"... you have a gift Scrabbler... people need to touch that somehow.
go heather!
i'll be back in a bit, have to make something for daughter to eat.
I know, I really want to get typing! TY for the encouragement, Scarlet!
Bye Fran
later fran
missing an O word. i have 2 oa, 1 oo, 1 or, 2 ot and 2 ox. can anyone help me figure out which two letter combo i'm missing?
I'll ask every time I see you, Scrabbler... once you get started it will flow like lava... there won't be any more hours in the day... oops, maybe Babble will sugger! LOL
ol4
or 4/4
*suffer*... like my keyboarding!!
ol 4, almost like the margarine
got it, it was the ol, ty!
husband and daughter are wtching Harry Potter I on TV, I get computer back
yay inge
any help... i tried the oo clue about oo + horse's ***ns, but it didn't work. did i miss something?
i'm down to 6 left, but am getting tired of the guessing game, thinking of getting the list
Hot Ham, oo + Santa's ***ndeer
oo + you t***d to guess it from the horse clue, but it didn't work
Hotham think of the Grat Lake that starts with e. drop e and put two oo
ooh ok, i was doing the vowels backwards
transpose the last two letters. My spelling is the pits today
Mom and feathebee's clues are much better Hot Ham!
I should go, it is 8:30 and I still need to practice my crocheting. I have had so much fun today with you all. Thanks so much. Bye for now and good luck to all of you.
Mom, lift a cup 'o cheer for your loved ones, and have a quiet, wonderful evening!
drink up your mug, MOM and your crocheting will go much better
{{Scarlet}}, thank you
LOL, inge!
Hugs, back, Mom.
first pe5/12 please? gave up and got the list!
{{Inge}}, thanks I hope so. Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone
pe + ***lity is opp. of fantasy
pe+ ostrich-like bird minus the 'h'
ty!
Back--I just talked parents through fxing their 3 yr old's "nursemaid's elbow"--the parents did it! the kid was screaming the whole time!
bye Mom,
Bye Mom!
Bye Inge and Bye Scrabbler.
See, Scrabs... tele-medicine!
G'night, Mom.
what's that scrabbler?
This is about my 6th or 7th time talking parents through this--it saves a ER visit and co-pay.
The technical term is subluxation of the radial head---a dislocation that is common in little kids when their arm gets yanked
owie!
Is that common, S? Or, does it mean an overemotional parent sometimes?
i know i've been holding daniel's hand at times, and he's decided to go another way that the way we're going, i could see how it could happen not in anger
than* the way we're going
That makes perfect sense, feather.
It is not uncommon, in kids under about 4 yrs--when walking pr playing with a parent, when the hand is held, and then the kid trips, there is traction on the arm and the radial head slips out
Again, perfect sense. Thank you both.
*shudder*
Uno!
done! so glad i got the list for the last few. much less painful!
Fini!
Does anyone have a clue for the lone a on the right, and the third d in the second row? I have Gobi and getting cleaned up from bad stuff! One left Scrabbler. Yahoo feather!
yay! i'm too late to help
A is like eating, it's a 4 letter plural
We finished at the same time, featherbee! Good work! Some of those ro's and to's were annoying!
i'm missing an so4 and it's driving me crazy. I think it comes between the plural lesions and the putting in order. can anyone help?
lol, yay that you're too late, or yay i finished?
Way to go, Scrabbler and feather... I have 31 left and basketball is calling me....
my last 6 were P, R and S words. got tired of trying to narrow it down!
the lone a on the right is past tense of consume with a plural ending.
FranMag... I need help... don't go... please stay...
scarlet, that last d is de4/5, anagram of a doe
like the order one, but a vowel on the end
hillary have u got the so that is dirt?
Thank you very much, hillary! And, thank you very much FranMag!!
i should say, same first 3 letters as the two you said you had, but a different vowel on the end
please tell me more about the dirt... and i think i have the one you mean fran, sign of leprosy?
i've decided i want to redo daniel's room in a fish theme, and i think i'm going to do teddy bears for ?christopher douglas?
its so +o**, u use in cooking
hillary, you need good top so** for a garden
found it... i think...
wd
cool heather
is that the name you've decided on?
any help on the r on the far left hand side 4th column down?
don't know....i like it a lot right now though!
how about the last so5/10?
Feather... are you going to do it now, before the summer heat hits your ankles... August, right?
douglas is a good name and christopher is great too, my friends call their son topher
hillary, so + for whom the bell ***ls
I just talked to the Mom of the little girl, and the kid is fine now, and the Mom is so grateful and crying. A success story!
douglas is my hubby's name, and i like christopher
tks
check out this bedding: http://tinyurl.com/ys6jcm
awwww, yay scrabbler!
Another chapter...
How about bunnies? Peter Rabbit?
swa, that R has words that go in mechanical engines
Yes, Scarlet!
daniel had a peter rabbit theme! i took pictures from a big peter rabbit book and framed them
LOL
thanks fran!
yw swa
phantom word... loiter
Cute set, feather!
That was a laugh for you Scrabbler! You sound ready. Feather... you can do whatever you feel like doing!
heather, the teddy bears are cute, i like that it's green and not blue
i saw it today in the store, i like it a lot. plus it will go with the icky green rug that we can't replace right now
i love green
now to find toddler-ish fish stuff!
Alright, off to watch basketball and unwind with the NY Times crossword puzzle (our paper carries it on Saturday). Bye folks! See you tomorrow!
bye scrabbler!
Lowe's and Home Depot have amazing suggestions for children's rooms... and inexpensive borders that spruce up the room. Good night, Scrabbler... that reminds me, our NYT must be here by now, too!
night scrabbler!
the green in the teddy bears set looks like it would go with the green you have in the living room.
lol, you're right fran! can you tell what my favorite decorating color is?
last li5?
li + spoil (like fruit)
many thanks
i saw a decorating tip on my favorite decorating show of the minute (Get Color) that said green on the wall makes time seem to move faster.
hmm, is that good or bad i wonder
FranMag... like Babble?? LOL
lol, i guess so scarlet!
if you haven't seen that show (on HGTV) it's really great
oh sweet, toysrus has nemo comforters
he loves nemo
first lo5?
why don't they just cover the walls with fast clocks
hillary, hock a lo***, or sounds like a king of France
lol hursh, that would work too
or wallpaper that has clocks printed on it, all showing different times
i think their "expert" just didn't have anything creative to say about green, so he/she just made it up
tks
oh
yw hillary
hi everyone!
hi TO!
hi and bye scrabs hi fran
ok, i'm heading outta here. night!
night heather!
my hair dryer just gave up the ghost! i swear conair is the worst qualit ever made
bye feather
it's true
i wll look like a poodle
*wails* my hair willcurl up and be unruly!
when i was researching some appliance i was going to buy, years ago, for my mom, i remember one thing: the note i made the the margin that said "do NOT get a conair"
TO, calm, calm, you can get a new one at pharmacy or whereever
TO, just go with it...after you wash, put in a gel and scrunch
i can't get out - i'm iced in
brb i need a valium
if you can't get out who cares what your hair does
hurshy, i have to care. if i stop then i will just have given up
you can't care EVERY day. you need some days off.
snowstorms are God's way of telling everyone to take a day off.
i'll be back later, have to take advantage of sun and breeze and get some laundry hung up.
i took a day off caring today and ate three donuts!
well god already gave me SEVEN days off for illness this year. more than the pred=ceding five years put together
bye fran - enjoy your ice less day
but everyone knows sick days are separate
bye!
here is a marty on my lap
days like this i miss a cat
he neither knows nor cares whether my hair curls or frizzes, whether i have a zit or three heads. he just loves his mama.
it's all about having the perspective of a cat.
they know what is truly important: sleep, food, love, play.
i hear that valium calling...
you should write a song based on that - good lyrics
did you all take a valiuim? Well, I am just signing off. Gute Nacht, Babblers , bis morgen
last lo5 anyone?
like a chinese flower, but different last vowel
tks
hi there
1st re5/21?
that should be re6/21
Anyone have the second re6/21 please
i have an re6/21 that is to relate a story again, past tens.
tense that is
I have that one. I need the one after to place something again.
Never mind. Got it.
there's a sell something again, past tense
tks niamh
Thanks Niamh. That was the one. Thanks also hillary.
you're welcome
i still need the one that comes after to put in a chair again.
the 5/10? that's what I do with the alarm clock every morning
no it's a 6, re6/21
hillary, do you have the re6/21? change the last letter of put in a chair again to a vowel
niamh, that's a beautiful photo in your icon!
that puts three vowels in a row... unusual in english and not working for me...
thank you
there were a lot of ocnfused robins hopping inour street today
hillary, it goes up to the left corner of the grid, opp direction of the re6/18
thanks fran, I needed that too!
confused because it's supposed to be Spring already?
i can't find anything
any help with the first two lo's?
niamh, hock a lo*** (rhymes with king of France or jazz great armstrong)
then plural
thanks again fran
yw
lol,ty
Hi, everyone!
my husband used to perform as a clown, his clown name was silly gilly
hi judy!
tks fran... i actually had worked it out by clueing myself ('unusual in english'... didn't think of french til then!) then my computer crashed and I've had to re-boot and re-load lickety. very frustrating!
I want to live in Hawaii Fran!!!!! NOW!!!!!
okay judy, you can stay in our spare bedroom while you househunt.
thx, Fran. Spent 3 hours with my snowblower and shovel this morning. grrrrr
ok, 1 more lo... the other 6/18 please?
oh yeah, bring at least 700K for a decent house
niamh, plural of a type of bird, lo**keet, called lory for short
I know the cost of living is high in Hawaii, Fran. Everything was so costly the last time I was there and that's about 25 years ago!
thanks again
Hi....!!
i moved here from Guam so it wasn't too shocking, coming from the mainland though would be a big change i think, unless you live in Manhattan or other high-cost area
hi smd!
Hi SMD!
Hi SMDNJV! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid!
Fran, where do the people get that kind of money? Didn't seem that there were many high paying jobs there when I was there.
hi min!
Hey, Min. Nice shamrock!
Hi Fran and Judy...and Min!!
hi cj
hi smd
Hello niamh!!
finally! fireworks. there are not words for how frustrating i found this puzzle.
i have no idea judy, we don't own our own home. i think normal folks live with a lot of extended family.
{{{TO}}} Ice or snow?
yay hillary! but you beat it!
and TO, and Ciocia, and Min, and everyone else too
woohoo Hillary!!!!
congrats Hillary
Hello all!Just came back from having a few drinks. So Happy Saint Patrick's Day to all. I am surprised that no one else has a shamrock as their icon. How come?
Congratulations hillary on fireworks! Hooray for you!
sleet that has now frozen - worked all day and could only do half the driveway
not irish
congrats fran
Hi to you Niamh!
cuz i don'y want to but happy st. patricks day to u
i went with today's theme of ghostbusters.
Hey all
OMG TO. We had that on Valentine's Day. A little sleet here yesterday afternoon and then all snow--about 12" of it!!!
I can't seem to give up my dragonfly... I am Irish, I'm wearing green and even had corned beef and cabbage for dinner
hi lbd!
Hiya lbd!
I'm not Irish either, but thought I would get into the spirit of things. I don't even drink green beer either.
I went with the ghostbusters theme! Never have really celebrated st pat's day!
anyway, it's not st pat's day here, it's the day after.
i;ll trade you cj.
Hi Dawg!!
I hear ya TO. That ice is a bitch!
any clues before i go do sunday stuff?
Hi lbdawger! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid
Well I'm new, how do you do this?
I was just enjoying smd's icon. quite the entertainment!
I don't like corned beef and cabbage either, but I am wearing a little green today&I have a shamrock icon.
froggyz, there's a help link above and friends of babble links below that can help, try angelsong's and lickety's links
cj, i just wanted to finish before my back got hurt again. i could stand it if at least i were done. now i have to shovel the rest after it softens tomrrow, bad back and all
I'm still working on Saturday stuff here in PA, Hillary! LOL It's amazing how many countries are represented here in Babbleland.
to7/28 amd tr7/32 please
thank you dawg!!
I like your shamrock, are you a true Irish like me? I love corned beef and cabbage.
*hands TO a martini* sounds like you need a drink, TO.
BA, to7/28, tee***-to**** (see-saw)
tr7/32 past tense of a horse's gait
to7/28 goes with to6 before it, to walk in a wobbly way. tr7 is similar but is a horse's gait.
I love corned beef, I'm a frog lover... and my maiden name was McKenna
no thanks cj. i took a valium. and if my neighbors who borrrowed my shovel bu tsis not help me, slam their car dorrs one more time i am going to go postal
Thanks hillary and Espritd & FranMag. Helpful as always.
I am talking to you Minveryork
I should have used an icon pertaining to GREASE!! My granddaughter performed her gymnastics performance tonight to the musical!
we had this discussion earlier about corned beef and the Irish.
*massages TO's shoulders* ok TO. calming breaths, in, out, in, out.
Who are you talking to?
Who are you talking to?
this room is right next to their driveway. they never use their garage. in cluster housing that penumatic sound of a car doors or lift gate slamming is very louad. 0 you can hear the air pressure.
what was your conclusion lbd?
realio trulio irish would have a lasting deeply ingrained race memory of beef or any food for that matter being way beyond reach.
i thinkit;s time to go . happy babbling all
nite TO. Hang in there!!
I don't want to listen to all your teenager talk!! Happy St. Patrick's Day kids!!!!!!!!!!
Those who live in Ireland do not eat corned beef, as to the fact that their corned beef is more like our spam
froggyz, I posted before before that I am not Irish.I don't really like corned beef and cabbage.I just have a shamrock to get into the spirit of St. Patrick's Day
So who cares lets stop talking about that now
yuck! if it wren't for mc donalds i would starve in ireland
It was an interesting conversation explaining the differences between countries and cultures
well then I probably wouldn't eat it either, but if you go camping and didn't catch any fish, then spam on a stick over the fire isn't horrible
please don't say starve in ireland.
Bye 72 Temple Owl! I will see you tomorrow in the log!
lol Niamh
Oh well, your a disgrace to my religion I am a true Irish
missmonkeyz are you on
so true Hillary. it's not a laughing matter, well, except for Niamh image of spam on a stick.
who died and left you lord oor lady of babbleland, froggy?
SMDNJV, that is the coolest icon I have ever seen! I didn't know you could get icons that are mini movies.

when my son was in first grade he asked me if he could have a pet monkey. i told him no over and over again.
This daughter and teh one in Vegas got me interested in Babble in the winter of 2005. I went pro in Jan 06, and the girsl rarely babbled. Perhaps this one will bable more often now
we were outside one day on the front porch and he asked again, "Can we get a monkey?" again i said NO. to which he said: "But why not? Those people across the street have one!"
it was a baby with brown skin

Hi GT.
it's one of them.
the four ltr one is mexican
pe + snake ltr + Katherin Z*** Jones, then plural
pe5/12 - there are 2. The 2nd one sound like a British money holder or what those in US call what we in UK call a handbag.
The 1st pe5/12 = an amount pe* capita + 2 vowels.
thx word and jac
2 left
Believe me, it's the ordinary words that might escape you in this grid - though it doesn't take long to do. My last word found was tr4/5 (walked upon). *sigh*
the last ro word? Anyone?
DRWE - ro6/18 - change last consonant of word before it to a snake one. Think of black and tan, quite stout, puppies.
I'm off to bed. More snow shoveling tomorrow. nite all. thx for the help.
ro6/21 before ro6/18 = decayed, btw.
Hi and 'bye, Judy.
Cold here in UK but no snow... so far.

Night, ADHD. Sleep well.

OH, I always thought it was a little "person". Hmm..I wonder what the blue handbag signifies for the males?
A heavy handbag is a useful weapon. LOL.
clue for the first pe,5 please - making me bang head against wall. Thanks
thx for to clue
A heavy wallet is a useful weapon too. It keeps the ladies distracted while we watch the ball game.
DRWED - Don't worry. They are meant to be people. It's just that I wsa in here when Dr_God (who runs the site) first tried the signs out.... many of us thought they were handbags. LOL.
DRWED - ROFLOL.
Oh, I see
Only if we can sneak them out of your back pocket whilst you are sitting on them. *grins*
All you need to do is remember the credit card numbers and you won't have to disturb your gent.

I guess that's the first ro 6/18 I need
RO 6/18 is plural
1st ro6/18 are the blades on a helicopter.
Ahhh...I was going the other way. Thanks!
2nd ro6/18 might describe ro***weiler pups.
may I have a clue for the 2nd so6/21?
3 left and I want help. the first re 6/21 and the last 2 re words, please
so 6/21 - Drunk
I need a clue for su 7,40. I can't get there .....
Shannon - 1st re6/21 sounds like 'to stitch again' but make it more French watery ending.
past tense of the one above
ok computer is driving me nuts. screen keeps blacking out so night now
su7/40 is an active past tense of the smashing/great su5/14 before it.
thx phandmd
Now just the last 2 and they are driving me nuts!
Or, for su7/40 - think of a newspaper or magazine boss who is the very best.
Thanks, phandmd, it's a weird word but it works!
got them! Sometimes I'm a real dork!
See you tomorrow!
Lol, Shannon. Happens to us all. See you later.

Well done, dr!
so messenger is becoming a bad thing?
congrats dr9397!!!!!
Seems it might be, Cath.
I tend never to download a new MSN until I'm about 3 lots behind.
Wish I hadn't this time!
ewwww...not good... what o/s do u use jacula?
i'm still on win98, but no more upgrades for us oldtimers
Never mind! PC is about to be trashed and all we want/need put into a new one.
ahh...u have an oldie too huh?
win98 - bloody hell! Oops! Sorry for swearing, Cath.
mines messes up lots.
PC is only 'old' in the sense that I've had it about 4 years in this form.
lol...yeah...i totally need upgrading...one day soon i hope
I need clue for li4,5 and the next one, li5,12, please?
But that IS old by PC standards.
lol jacula...mine's about oh 8 years old!!!
sewell - li4/5 = in li*** of (when you sign for someone who is not there).
scan disc/defrag...too much...tons of freezing up and bad video
li5/10 is the normal plural for that.
Too much defragging kills computer.
really???? i didn't know that!
Cathyar = 98 though??? Jeeze! No wonder!
Thanks alot, Jacula
yeah...got it when my son was still in diapers and he's almost 10
y/w sewell.
tks for the advice re defrag...scan disc is ok though?
Cath - yes. Defragging kills the hard drive's right wrist in the end, I believe.
guess i'm kinda lucky then to be hangin in as long as we HAVE been!
*prays to make it last till we can get a new puter*
Scan is fine, as is disk cleanup and spybot, virus scan etc. But the defrag does shorten the hard drive's life.
wow...go figure...i used to always be told to defrag at least once week!!!!!!!!
i always thought defrags helped keep the files "in order"
Me, too, Cath. But maybe it was the manufacturers of the hard drives that perpetuated that myth?
Defrag once per month or 3 months. Do all the rest daily or weekly.
yeah...well...i'm glad to know it now though...may give me a few more weeks of life on mine!
jacs...i'm forever indebted to u for that advice! ;)
help with the to 6/18s please: I have tales - the s, legal things, person who hauls things, and teeter/______. Clue for what I'm missing, please?
how about the do6?
Clue for pe6,21?
(if i may be so bold)
Cath - I'm right as far as I know. Son (aka computer expert) is asleep for once at present and BJ, our resident Babble computer expert is also away travelling through work.
hmmm...i think the pe6 is spanish maybe.... pe + se4/4
do6/24 - do45 before it in past tense. d + porrige ingredient.
i often wonder if babblin causes me troubles too :( i have no virus scan or even spyware protection
pe6/21 = Spanish currency.
ty yet again jacula :)
Cath - there's no spyware or anything else malicious on Babble, believe me.
my norton ran out ... too old
but i do antivirus.com lots
get avg if you can, cathyar- its probably the best you can get for free.
Cath - if you don't mind paying to be kept virsus free, get NOD32.
oh, my, I still can't get pe6,21 -- partly because I couldn't get the last two "se's". Sorry
avg??? do i search avg to find it?
Ment virus free.
ahhh...se4/4 = se + what u say to a small child when u don't want them to touch something.
pe + put something down + first vowel
great clue nonnie!!!!!!
Hi Nonnie.
grisoft.com - not a very user friendly site i'm afraid, but the latest free edition is there somewhere...
ty cathy and hello jac!
i'll certainly be checking into more freebie virus scans til i get a new puter
Thanks for coming to the rescue, Nonnie!
Ahh, thanks all!
ahh....k...i'll check it out mask and see what i can find...ty! and jacs...i'll check your recommendation too!
it's worth it- some of the free ones are as good as most of the products you can buy anyway
I could use some help with that blasted to, please. I have 3 left--4/5/6!
Hi everyone.... I downloaded my updated version of AVG antivirus at www.free.grisoft.com
I'm just trying to think what free one I refused but my son is trying now. Onlyn free for about 3 months though. I'd rather pay for a year or 5 years and forget it.
hello muse
Hi Nonnie
Hi Muse.
to 6/18:
to + 2 vowels
avg is free indefinately, but you have to download updates periodically to keep it up to date
yeah...that's what i was doing with norton...go figure...had norton free when i got my puter...but they gotta still get yer $$$
to + red flower is one 6/18
updates are fine...don't mind doing that mask
hi Jacula
hi Cathy
to6/18 opposing party of Whigs
I have that one, muse...I think the 4/4 I;m missing is after the to + two cononants
Nothing is free forever! I've been on t'internet too long to believe anything comes for free now.
hi muse!!! i always forget about that to4 u just clued...a common grid word too!!!!!
Mind you, I was one of the very first in the 1970s!:-(
of the 6/18s I have: the whigs, legal things, person who hauls things, and teeter/______.
tru nuff jacula
hey, thats not true... there is loads of open source and otherwise free stuff that'll practically replace any applications you can buy. openoffice.org, the GiMP, etc

mask & mirror - if you really do believe you can get something for nothing for ever you must be very young.
i know muse! i'm so excited for you
Not an accusation, jut a statement made from experience.
hey jac!
Hi FranMag. How are you?
maybe mask means there are alway replacement sites that let u get things free for awhile...till they got good enuff to make u pay
well... it is the point of open source applications really... though i suppose it depends on what you mean by 'forever'
Nonnie did you get all the to's you needed?
doing great jac! how about you? missed seeing you here for a long time.
that was it, Nonnie - Fireworks! Thanks for clues all! Does anyone need some help?!
yay babbz!
eww...i've still 43 words left...babysat my mom, then watched (For the 40th time) Titanic....
not long til flippin either
they are generally ongoing projects built by the users themselves and improved by the same- they are not owned by anyone per se, so they could not suddenly begin to charge for them
hip hip - I always feel like it's a total struggle for me to finish these grids, where you pros seem to polish one off in a jiffy!
yay babbz
free has a price - always....:)
hi de 6/21 please?
same is by no means true of other things however- most things incur a cost in the end, when they become popular and such.
dorens, sahara
lol...u R pro though babbz

Fran - we've been busy in the garden when weather allowed, also gone off and joined the British Legion at last (3 years after we had my Dad's funeral 'do' there after the BL standard bearers had done their stuff for him.

I was going to go on to say that I am kind of glad I have to be 'interviewed' by the 'females' commitee'. The place is in the worst decorative order and needs building maintenance. Evidence of leaks from ceiling all around, you can smell the underleaks also. So, what's going on here? Dunno yet! Should we not work out what skills we and our other halves have and put on some events to pay for the materials so that we can revamp the place ourselves?
Should I say that??? First time out?
i think you should jac
Fran - I think I will!
in a way that doesn't offend the current committee somehow
although that may be hard since the place is in such a mess now, they let it get that way.
What place are you speaking of, jac...if you don't mind me asking.
ty, I finally got it.
No, Fran, how could it... I know many of the past male members fought wars and their females did too (though only JUST and I do mean JUST got credit for that - 2002 - female branch approved)
sounds like they need a go-getter like you to help them out jac!
wtg sewwell, congrats!
cool sewwell
Nonnie - I am speaking of any Royal British Legion Club in UK. It was originally a club for the armed forces.
sounds like our USO clubs here in the US.
That is what I was thinking, fran. Sounds interesting, Jac.
The Royal British Legion provides financial, social and emotional support to millions who have served and are currently serving in the Armed Forces, and their dependants. Currently, nearly 10.5 million people are eligible for our support and we receive thousands of calls for help every year. The Legion was founded in 1921 as a voice for the ex-Service community and over 450,000 members continue to ensure that this voice does not go unheard. Although the needs of ex-Service people have changed over the years, we are still there to safeguard their welfare, interests and memory. British service people are in action around the world every day of the year. They know that if they need our support - now or in the future - the Legion is always on active duty for them.
yup, sounds like USO.
or a combination of the USO and the VA.
They didn't led my Dad down at his funeral. The insisted on pal-bearing, the flag over his coffin and their part of the service. I'm forever in their debt for that.
They also asked my Mum and me if we needed financial help. Thanks to Dad's care, neither of us did. That won't stop us helping those who do, though.
if they're like the USO club we had in Guam, not much money goes to maintaining facilities, so a volunteer fund-raising effort would probably be very appreciated Jac.
brb
Fran - I saw that from my latest visit. I guess they just need galavnising into action in some way. When I first realised that I'd have to appear before the women's committee to get membership, I though, 'Oh sh*t!' However, now I've got my bearings, so to speal, I'm quite glad of that.
good evening, all :)
