I live 15 mins out of perth on 8 acres andree- it's gorgeous

and so close to perth so it's like the middle of the country but all city conveniences - we also have a house in Crawley which is about 8 mins from the city and we rent it to my son and 3 girls
His housekeeping skills have improved out of site- he is scared of them Lol
my only visit to perth was a stop in fremantle in the ship that brought us to Australia 55 years ago, lol
He used to get his friends to share but they were such slobs he couldn't bear it (he was a slob too) so the girls were much better
i was dissapointed not to see kangaroos in the street
Andree, my eldest daughter used to live in Surry Hills so we went to sydney a lot I LOVE Sydney and the shops in Oxford Street - Lol about the kangaroos
my oldest son before he was married rented with females mostly and he married one of them

herin we have a paper called Quokka and it has lots of free things like that
my love at the moment is my compost heap
Sometimes people are demolishing a wall or what ever and the bricks need to be recut to be made usable for a wall but if you are using it for paving somewhere were it doesn't need to look pretty who cares

herin we have a lot of things from 'Bring out your dead" and the quokka that are amazing
weed spray works well

Yes, in many senses. But he had a good life, lots of toys, caring staff to spend time with him, and he could do some things for himself. He couldn't play or fight with the other monkeys but he got a LOT of contact and love.

Hi again. Just talked to my grandfather. He was working with a mosaic set of bamboo tiles I got him when we visited in May and I realized he had nothing directly creative to be doing with his hands (important for him). the one thing I've found that helps on bad flare-ups is zinc oxide bandages. Wrap zinc oxide bandages on the area and fasten it down somehow. It itches like crap so take antihistamines or something at the same time. Leave the bandages on for a few days / as long as possible. and that takes sooo much out of the flare-up

I have degenerating discs - some are essentially gone. of course, I'm 20 years older than you
there were about 4 diffferent ones on the paper they gave me
that's on top of a back injury - fracture & other damage at L4/5 when I was 15

had an epidural injection in my spine about a week ago
I've joked over the years about if I could just get them to unwrap me from this skeleton and install a new one :P
definitely not something that I want to do again

that was a pretty drastic first step, in my opinion
the epidural, I mean
have been to 2 ortho surgeons
have head some PT on back earlier this summer
but didn't do much either
still have numbness and tingling/burning in right leg
and lower back pain
ask your "primary care physician" to refer you to one, if pain is very much of a problem. there are MANY less drastic ways to help your back than an epidural!!!!
it's not excruciating--but I definitely know that it is there
I would NOT see an ortho for a back problem
are you in/near a big city?

if so, there should be several pain specialists near you. failing that, see a neurologist

guess I just didn't think to do them after the surgery
they leave that to the physical therapists - who also rarely remember to mention it. they just lecture you about doing the exercises, without explaining why they're important
well I just don't think of exercising with the back the way that it is I guess
I was really scared for years before I had the knee replacement - knowing I was going to have one - because just about everybody I talked to who had had one couldn't bend their knee past 90 degrees
heel slides shouldn't hurt your back, so long as you put the other foot on the bed/floor/whatever while you're doing the heel slide with one foot

we went to the pumpkin farm and cider mill with relatives today, so had to skip the nap. he slept 20 minutes upright in the car, which doesn't cut it.

when he does get them, he doesn't even realize it's happening or that i'm there. i just mostly lay beside him, and put a hand on his back when i can. after a bit, i'll ask him questions..."do you want a tissue?" etc. if he starts to answer me, i know he's coming out of it.

You're handling it just fine, Feather. It's rougher on you than it is on him, though, like me, he may remember some of the 'horrors' in later life. However, he'll be able to deal with them then and know that you were looking out for him when he was younger and more vulnerable.

I'm big on goat cheeses, myself. California cheesemaker (Cyrpus Grove, I believe) makes a cheese called "Humbolt Fog." Heaven, pure heaven.

kje, we prowled the Saturday Market (an institution here) on its last day, and prowled all the art shows, visited the photography gallery where he had an exhibition a couple of years ago and the proprietor went to son's website (http://www.davidevansphotography.com/ ) and asked permission to use his "Coincidences" in classes he teaches...had a wonderful dinner at a new bistro and yes, just hung out a lot. He gave me some photoshop lessons too :)
