Monkey, I had my portacath removed... I have to put micropore over my scar for three months, but that is on my breast... different type of skin to the face. Still, ask about covering the scar so that it minimizes the scarring

No, will NOT be scrubbing it! It's just that he is a little pale. I'm not tring to make him sit still or anything, but I did decide to skip the daily trip to jump off tree stumps and generally raise havoic in the woods with the dog. We can all survive skipping one day.
dad's wound was on the top of his head. he's old and quite fragile but it healed very well with just the one glue application

surgery these days is amazing, other than not being able to do any lifting for a couple of months and making sure he doesn't bump his nose he looked pefectly normal christmas day, 5 days after surgery
i can remember patients from my nusing days looking like they were beaten up

that is incredible, Andree. And don't feel bad about not noticing, broken noses are hard to diagnose. Mine was broken by bumping into a glass wall at work and I worked almost all day before the company doctor came over and said it was broken. I had instinctively put it back straight on after the collision and he said that was all there could be done anyway, it had to heal by itself.

No, it is difficult to read without a lot aof ambient light. The lights on the reader just light up the side. My Mother - in - Law has macular degeneration and she had a hard time with it yesterday; it was very cloudy here.

Also, why do they just make the fonts enlargeable (sic) with the pages of the book. She has problems finding the book on the opening page - the font size doesn't change there.

god,my lady never uses the bottom row buttons she just has it go right to the option page and all the selections are large there,and each book i download has a cover page(and yes the fonts can be small) so she just skips forward to page one and starts reading.dont forget to rotate the page as that helps also

i agree with TO - I have been using our library a LOT more in the past few years. we have an online service too, whereby 20 or so local libraries are linked, and I can search online for a book, and check it out from any of the member libraries, and they deliver it to my local, where I pick it up. it's BRILLIANT
whereas i revel in my addiction to books, so to speak
however, i do plan a trip to our taj mahal library this week, i have been keeping a list of book reviews.

The paramedic said he lost enough blood to be a little on the tired side but nowhere enough to be considered even slightly dangerous. He ate like a pig ALL DAY, and perked up enough to want to go out with the dog (in -2 weather!) this afternoon. No concussion, no headache, no complications.

Walter is a highly active boy of 4 so I have just been waiting for our accident. We got off lightly in my opinion, what with no concussion, scar will be high up by the hair, no teeth through a lip or anything. Glad they could glue it. We were in the ER a total of ten minutes... plus a 45 minute wait for the neighbor to come pick us up.
my nephews are totally injury-prone...i rarely see them without a bandage, bruise, or scrape...
Oh, I was a concussion expert and split two lips and all that stuff. Skinned a knee once badly enough for the ER and lots of bandaging. So I know this isn't the end.
He also has excellent coordination and balance most of the time but of course Knows No Fear. It helps that I remember every detaiul of my really big head injury, when I was exactly this age. I remember thinking that I could certainly climb onto that metal railing over the rocks along the stairs and slide down it, easiest thing in the world...
my younger nephew seems to get the brunt of it... over the summer, he had a bandage on the top of his head, where the detachable shower head fell + clunked him while he was in the shower with my brother... then, on christmas, he had a huge bandage on his chin -- seems he slipped + fell in the tub + smashed his chin on the side...they really thought that was gonna turn out to be an ER trip, but thankfully, it wasnt...
So I keep an eye on what he might try. So of course last night he just turned around too fast and tripped over his ownfeet.
My older dau is familiar with the ER for things like being brushed by an RV, stung by an unidentified bug, locked for 5 hours in a football stadium bathroom, etc.

I was locked in a bathroom stall for about three hours in an unheated building in the dead of winter with the window stuck open... of course, this was about ten years ago. I tried to crawl under the door and had a VERY scary few minutes when I thought I would ALSO be pinned to a marble floor... had to get back into the stall (walls to ceiling, couldn';t climb). Finally took the whole lock apart with my Swiss army knife and when that didn't work just threw myself against the door until the damage done by the lock taking aprt thing finally made the pin fall out... I have seen less well made doors on high security buildings! That's when I decided to get a cell phone.
