yes, I'd welcome Lickety right now
found just
150 and really slowing down
I know, and I shouldn't butt in ... but I hate namecalling, especially when the person's not in a position to respond. Matter closed.
106 left but slowwwwwwwing
huh? Christine?
leave it, just
lots of name calling here when bush was in office, so why all of a sudden is it a crime to speak your mind... sorry I am tired of the one-sidedness
evidently my dry humour is more than too dry...we'll see y'all perhaps in the morrow...
ummm not in my nature, but okay jilli
sorry that sounded meaner in writing than it did in my head
Dee is that in reference to a word in the grid?
no a comment in the chat... sorry just
so you think calling the president is just fine?
a terrorist
well... it was a little over the top there pav
just, see PAV at 1:01 to see the source of this
sigh.....musta missed something which reinforces my braindeadedness (wow what a babble word that would be, eh? lol)
i don't
Okay - I think likening Obama to BinLaden is tacky. My opinion, and not necessarily that of others, but BinLaden isn't exactly someone you'd want yoyr family member likened to .... whoo, exhausted myself.
I think this is a free country and folks can speak their mind... at least my ancestors fought for the freedom to speak
i am no fan of our prime minister but he is no terrorist
I may not even agree with what they say, but they may speak
so you think our president is a terrorist
I think he is an inexperienced, socialist, and he is very scary... I personally wouldn't name him a terrorist
I believe in free speech as long as it doesn't hurt anyone
The latent Girl Guide in me hates namecalling.
i uh, got NBT
wtg josh
ok I'll hush...
well, yay, josh!
yay, josh
okay .....missed something and upon review am still missing something so I'll just 'ass' my way upstairs and visit the faciltites
wtg josh!
good luck with the butt crawl there just
I think we walk on eggs in here too much these days, sigh. There, I said it.
lucky you missed it just, it was pretty mean
I don't think politics has any place here
(yeah all pav has to do is keep that up and it is audit time baby) lol
I tend to agree that politics isn't usually a good subject, too.
lol I'm always up for a heated discussion about anything .... makes mind sharper, and I may even change my opinion ((((hugs)))
good evening everyone. How is the grid tonight? staying out of the poli talk. Mom always said never discuss politics and religion.
grid is pretty fun for first 150 book... then slow!
your mum and my mum must have been related book
I'm not finding this grid easy, but then I'm half asleep
how truly disappointing
First 150! I just started and feel I am struggling at 50
book, I started at grid-time but only have 52 words
I only have 56, just oozing along...
I still have two bt, upper n and the l. any clues?
it's the kind of grid where you think you've found a great word until the last letter isn't there
I'm more like snoozing along, better get to bed
anyone have any so words?
I is is 7/40
n is ni 4/4
not me, dee

lol jinx
lol dee thought that was a clue, looking for a flower!!!
lol
there is a ir flower in the grid. Mine are getting ready to bloom
still missing one s from top s... anymore than 7 sa?
dang deer ate my tulips already this year. :(
sp4/7 Dee
deer always eat tulips
ty dee have that one... other s... sorry
top left s
and possums come in and eat my beans and tomatoes, what to do?
only have 5 from that one
My Mom has found stinky soap like Irish spring keeps the deer away. We do not have any deer here.
first time I've tried tulips, guess I'll have to put up a big fence!
fence, andree
I tried Irish Spring and everything else
jilli it would have to be a complete enclosure to keep them out and so not possible as i rent
The deer here are very hungry
so grow daffodils!
the whole place is fenced , they just run along the top of the fence and laugh at me
deer fences have to be about 7 ft high
so far they've not nibbled on a little tree we planted last year, it's up front and the dog does her business all around it. I think it may keep them away.
i am addicted to growing veg jilli
wouldn't a twelve bore do the trick hehe!!!
do they not like daffodils, jilli? lol, sandr!!
Perhaps you could train your dog to mark her territory, all along the fence?
Hi everyone
missing one s... I have 7 sa's; 7 sc's; 1 si; 1 sp... anyone know what is missing?
Hi Huga
8 sa.
ty!
deer don't like daffodils or lavender or pieris or rhodos -- several other things.
hi huga!!
hi hugs
might be a good idea, Christine.
How many letters on the si, please?
there are lots of deer resistance plants. Just do a google search to find ones for your zone.
si 5/16
You can spray a solution of rotten eggs, but have to repat all those things after a rain
ty
which sa am I missing bro... I have sa 4, 4, 5, 4, 5, 4, 5
yw
another plant that deer won't eat are Hellebores. I just planted the whole north side of our house with them. they like the shade and are gorgeous when the bloom.
nm found it my missing s was sa 5/10
Also, you can build low fences as long as the area is small, less than 5 feet wide/deep. They wont' leap into small spaces. Lots of advice on the web.
another 5 at the end
ty
lots of things deer "don't eat" they do eat here
Rose6 - have you seen Park's catalog? Lots of plants that are deer resistant.
as 7 ag 6
now that's good to know, Roses - all my beds are prety narrow.
and yet tulips grew right across the road unmolested for years. maybe mine were special!
No, haven't seen it. but I'll check it out. We bought a cabin a few years ago, and it's in the wilds. when we're not there the deer eat everything, so it's been a real challenge figuring out how to garden there.
Maybe they're too young to cross the road
LOL
they don't eat daisies
thye don't eat bamboo.
or juniper
but I think they like all veggies
missing some a's: I have 2 ab's; 7 ag's; 5 ai; 2 ar; 1 as... missing?
4 ab - 4,5,4,5,
ty
so still missing 2 from bottom a middle column

No thanks, I'm still on my first run through.
okay, i see lickety is on line, so maybe the clues will be up soon. i'll look in later. time for dinner here
Enjoy your meal!
Good morning. Shame 'bumgas' isn't a word. It should be! :-)
Good morning, Jacula.
Nice to see you, Haz. It's been ages.
I know - a combination of factors.
How are you? I had a little look at your blog a few days ago.
Good Morning Haze so good to see you ,i miss seeing you
Good morning Yvo - nice to see you as well!
I'm fine thanks, Haz. Will be getting into the swing of gardening again soon. You?
PB for me. I said a word.
I'll make a pot of tea while I'm in there.:-)
It'll take a bit longer for things to be ready to head outdoors. We're in the midst of decorating so I'm permanently sticky with paste.
Oh no, Haz., you don't want to be covered with paste with soil and grass stuck to it.
Absolutely not.
So, Jac, is this you up to stay up for the day?
Is it just one room you're doing or are you going through the whole house?
I hope not to be at Babble all day, Haz. I have meatballs to make. LOL
... and ironing to do. :-(
Well, you know what it's like. You do one room, and then it makes others look bad. We took the head staggers and put in a new bathroom (or at least two nice bathroom men did) and we've been reforming our bedroom as well.
Oh, lucky you! I'd love a new bathroom suite.
Good morning Haz and Jacs!
We decided that the time was right and thankfully it was all done very efficiently - noisy, but efficient.
Oh look! Good morning FM.
Morning FM!:-)
Had to pop in and say hello :)
Hello all. Head staggers Haz, you were shaking your head at the cost or is that some sort of constuction thingy?
The interesting thing about bathroom suites is that you don't need to worry about colour. They're all white. After that, the choice is mind-blowing.
I'm glad it went well, Haz.
We still have an avocado suite - a faded and battered one.
Hello lynxxx. 'Taking the head staggers' is an expression we use to indicate doing something impulsively.
Hi lynxxx
Hi lynxxx.
Jacula, avocado may come back in style if you hold out long enough. Just call it vintage - it seems to work with clothes.
LOL Haz.
LOL my batroom was all pink when I moved in.
Which suggests that you changed it?
bathroom even!
hey all
Oh, poor you, FM. I've always hated pink b/room stuff.
Good morning bf
I see on all those UK 'house' shows people shuddering at the avocado suites...I quite like them. Nice with black and white
hi bfsog
Hi bfs.
Hi bf Yes it got changed pretty quickly.
no icon fm?
lynxx - our avocado suite's been in place since the 70s and is very battered.
Do you get lots of the UK house shows? The ones that show a house being transformed in a matter of minutes are all LIES.
No bf, I switched it off a while back, quite like being grey now.
The small 2nd bathroom has a 'champagne' suite (i.e. cream), but that's okay and was only built 8 years' ago.
one day we will all be grey
FM is the eminence grise around here.
I had our bath recoated...very successful - and cheap
Not if our hairdressers can stop it, bfs!
Heaps Haz
Our house has a grey suite and every spot of soap and toothpaste shows. Oh for white!
My hairdresser won't colour my hair
That works on cast iron baths but not plastic.
Change your hairdresser, FM. Or else offer to pay...
Sack your hairdresser, FM!
Hi Hydra.
hi Hydra
Same with the avocado, Hydra.
Hello hydra - white seems to be the way forward. I just hope we haven't put it in only for fashions to change straight away.
Haz - I don't think white will ever be out of fashion.
LOL Haz, actually I agree with him butI am getting so much grey now I may have to take some drastic action. Hi hydra
You reassure me, Jac.
FM, just how drastic is the action you might take?
You haven't had one of those square toilets have you, Haz? My friend had one back in the 70s, a royal blue suite, and it felt really weird to sit on. Bums aren't square.
No blue rinses. I'm begging you.
Is FM going for the bald look maybe?
No, 'tis not square.
Blue rinse! I think not *looks indignant*
Purple rinse?
There's a relief.
You could be like Phyllis from Corrie was and change your hair colour every week.
Hi Jac, Has, FMitch, lynxxx; it's a meeting of the old crowd. (Not as in age!) Anyone got a clue for the am5,16?
eeek!
Oh, I remember her! She used to flirt outrageously with the old man. What was his name?
Percy
Can't help you hydra, haven't even started the grid yet
Percy Sugden?
He was always complaining about something, wasn't he?
That's the fella.
Oh no! I was following Likety and it's Tuesday's list, not today's. Forget the am word then.
We're really going to show how old we are. I even remember the night Martha Longhurst died in the snug.
LOL Hydra. Dippy old hippy!
So do I, Haz.
So very true :-)
I was terribly impressed when they didn't play any music at the end.
I don't remember that and I am of a similar age.
... and when the train crashed on the viaduct. And when Harry Hewitt died on the day of Len's wedding.
Mr Grumpy went to the dump this morning only to find it had closed. He is now driving round with a carload of rubbish. Tee-hee!
You were probably practising your dance moves in your Greek tunic, FM.
Closed for good, Hydra, or just closed at the moment?
shhhh!
Have you seen the Victoria Wood Coronation Street sketch? It's brilliant - she plays Ena Sharples.
Don't watch Corrie any more, nor Emmerdale.
Closed for good. Part of the rail expansion to Heathrow.
Corrie's the only one I watch, but it's going downhill rapidly. Too many young things cavorting about.
Oh heck, Hydra. Is there another one to go to?
Well, having got a mere 64 words, I'd better b***** off and do some work.
I must away, lovely to have seen you. Toodles!
Has - No, I haven't seen the Victoria Wood sketch.
Bye FM - it's good to see you as well.
'Bye FM & Hydra.
bye Hydra & FM
We couldn't live without our local dump. It's all beautifully organised, woe betide you if you don't dump stuff in the right places.
Jac - it's on Youtube, well worth seeing.
Same as ours, Haz.
I'll take a look, Haz. What's it called.
Notices all over the place. 'Rubble only. No plasterboard'. 'Clean, flattened cardboard only'
If you type in Victoria Wood, Coronation Street it should bring it up.
I'll have a look later. Thanks.
Today's phantom - squirrel.
I think you'll enjoy it - Julie Walters as Martha, someone else as Minnie Caldwell.
I can imagine JW as Martha.
I love her Mrs. Overall character, the way she moves slowly across the room with a tray full of cups etc.
She's a brilliant actress.
She is.
The last thing I saw her in was about a woman's fight for voluntary euthanasia, it was very moving. She can make you cry tears of laughter or sorrow.
I had to miss that prog., Haz, as it was on our SKY+ box when Sky recently did their replacements.
Our box was one of the ones they thought might be faulty.
I'm sure it'll be on again, though.
It was very well done, so if it does come on again, take the chance to see it.
Have you got the new sky box sorted out?
She played my friend Deric's late wife Diana in Wide-eyed & Legless. (Thora Hird played his Mum). He was very pleased with the interpretation.
As in Deric Longsden?
Yes, Haz. They changed the box. The new one's failed to record when pre-set a couple of times, so we may have to get them back to look at it.
Deric Longden. Yes, Haz.
We have the video of 'Lost for words' - talk about wonderful acting from Thora Hird!
How interesting that you should know the people behind the story! He comes across as a very caring person.
That's a great film, too, Haz. Deric's Mum to a tee.
Have you read his books? Thermal the cat will have you in stitches.
Deric's a lovely man, Haz. So's his 'new' wife, Aileen.
No - never read any of his books, but I should look out for them.
a lovely woman, not man, that is. LOL.
I think you'd like his books, Haz.
I certainly got the impression of him being a real gentleman - and his new wife being lovely as well. I liked that his humour and his impatience came across so that he was very human. His mother was quite a character!
I'll look out for them, Jac. More to add to the reading list!
I got a surprise the other day. I'd ordered A McCall Smith's new book, Tea Time for the Traditionally Built and they sent me Miracle at Speedy Motors instead.
Is Miracle at Speedy Motors not an earlier one?
Yes. Fortunately, I haven't read it yet.
I tend to get a bit mixed up with the sequence of things. It's not as easy to keep track of the Katy books. What Katy did. What Katy did next. You can't go wrong with those sorts of titles.
I once gave husband one of the No 1 Ladies Detective stories to read. He handed it back 'Nothing happened.'
True, Haz, re the titles.
I suppose we can't all like the same things. Men tend to prefer mor action/blood/mayhem.
*more
Maybe his thinking is that you can read any of the books in isolation and not worry about the sequence.
Could be.
I have to say hi and I see chat is discussing McCall Smith and mysteries! I enjoy those books, just finished Blue shoes of happiness....
Hi red. Haven't read that one yet.
Hello red. Yes, they're very enjoyable, gentle books.
hi Red
Definitely gentle. and hi jacula, haz and lynxx.
Alexander McCall Smith was interviewed on TV recently and his explanation for the books not having complicated plots or dreadful things happening, was that enough horror was around us in real life, this was a way of escaping to a gentler place.
I read on his website that he's giving 44 Scotland Street a rest for a while. Will poor Bertie ever get past 6?
He's right, Haz.
ain't that the truth
I just want poor Bertie to be rid of Irene. Could she not run away with Dr Fairburn and leave the child to grow up happily?
Is the new baby's Dr. Fairburn's?
And why do they keep forgetting where they've parked their car?
Ulysses? That's the lovely thing, you're left wondering whether it could really be.
I sometimes forget where I've parked my car half an hour ago.
LOL, Haz.
The number of times I've been about to report a stolen car.
*grinning madly*
in the PB box again.:-(
Thankfully, I've always managed to restrain myself.
You'll have to tie something to the aerial so you can see it - like you do on a crowded beach so kids don't get lost.
The good thing is that it's a bright colour, but being small it tends to get hidden behind all these huge people carriers and jeeps people seem to need to drive.
Oh, don't start me off on that subject Haz!
So, Jac, what do you think of people driving people carriers and jeeps?
*claps hand firmly over mouth*
And have you always felt this way?
*nods*
(Knowing nod of recognition)
Will we change the subject?
*nods*
(Nodding back in understanding)
So, we've covered bathrooms, books and big cars. What's left?
*removes hand from mouth so she can type two-handed again*
Good morning. Things are getting slow and weird again.
Yes, I find typing when you're sitting on your hands really difficult.
Not you guys (-: the server
Yes. Stabbing at the keyboard with your nose is both painful and inaccurate.
hi Eva
Good morning, Eva. So glad you explained!
Hi Eva. Thanks for explaining.
Well, look at the time - I must get a move on and get something else done. Good to talk to you all and I'll be back later. Bye!
Enough for tonite, off to nurse this cold a bit more. Bye all - have a good day
'Bye Haz. Lovely to see you.
'Bye llynxx.
You too - bye!
60 left to find. They can wait until later. I'd better get some work done, too.
Is lickety deserting us today?

G'd morning sue
If you update your software and Anti Virus regularly, like you should do anyway, it'll be fine.
I use Avast, it is free and updated
Hackers waste their talents on this crap. Hard to believe.
Windows updates are important, as are your application updates like Adobe etc. A lot of people don't do their maintenance.
I just updated Windooze
G'day all! Did you ever have a grid where you just can't find words? Today's my day for that. I'm dumbstruck.
G'd morning gramma. I'm still at the optimistic stage.
In another hour, I'll be at your stage lol
two phantoms... there is a mirage of and oasis
hurble is too a word!
I think I need to do this later. This is not a stage, it's a blank.
I don't even have phantoms.
lol gramma, we've all been there, that's for sure.
***writes out a formal complaint about hurble not being a word in the grid***
oodle, use it in a sentence.
Hi Grama
We all have hurbles in our lives.
Hi herin 8)
Or my hurbles got loose.
See? It seems like a word...
i got my hurbles all in a bunch
***sneaking in hoping LoriP does not see me creaping up behind her***

hi kris
man..what a mess in London today for the G20
hello, Kristine; all
carleekat. Mostly peaceful, given the hoards of people there.
Can you imagine paying $10 000 for a race horse and now its nearly won half a mil in winnings.
I realise that..but..can u imagine IF there were a medical emergency....or a fire...
These gatherings always bring a few yobs.
what's G20
the G twenty.....20 countries...heads of state all meeting in london for economic solutions
oh ok
What Carlee said
Carleekat. oh yes. it would be terrible but I would guess the powers that be have plans afoot.
how did tea with the queen go?...or has it happened yet?
Obama will be there
yes Obama is there with other world leaders.
and so will stephen harper... the prime minister of australia too
bbs
Obama, plan to meet the Queen this morning it will be on the news later. Hope Philip behaves he usually makes some gaff.
hb peri
will phillip be there...I had heard last that his health was bad again...
Oh is he, well he is getting on now. But maybe he will be well enough to meet head of countries.
Rudd was also speaking in a church about our bushfire tragedy
they both are getting on ... any word yet about william and his girlfriend...I keep waiting for the engagement announcement
what happened herin?
No not yet Carleekat. Likely the world will know as soon as we know. Better later than sooner as once its in the press they will be living in gold fish bowl.
your cats are so pretty
The PM is over in the UK he attended a church service to honour the victims of the bushfire tragedy back on feb 7th
Oodle himself the black one has now eaten 3 mobile phone chargers and a laptop charger
omg ... bad puddy tat bod ol' puddy tat...
Police trying to protect the Bank of England. controlling flow of people... just in case.
i should put on BBC...am so sick of cnn
so there was a bush fire in austrailia... I never heard about that... next to what city or cities, herin
ok..bbc on... commercial... whatever...
its On BBC 1.
I only have BBC world
I am now addicted to BBC radio 1 now...bloody hillarious
It will be aired on that channel.
OODLE did you live under a rock in February? I dont mean to be rude but how could you not
Lol..
well they were serving mocha/hazelnut lattes there and I didn't want to miss it
Carleekat Radio 2 is good two at various times in the day. I like radio 4 also.
it wasn't much carried up here herin..it was...but we had a few economic issues happening up here.... and our news up here is flooded by USA media...and the ONLY thing happening there is economic....
i only get radio 1
Oodle http://tinyurl.com/dbjtyo
Sorry not meaning to be rude its like us with our USA news im forever getting ''would you like Aus Yahoo'' im forever saying no or i would never know what is going on in the states
i was very busy trying to get my documents in order to find a job... now that I have it is just a matter of going back and bugging the crap out of hotels to hire me.... been a very stressful time for me
AND....the b[art that drives me nuts..it "time delayed" to match our clock here...
good luck, oodle
Good luck Oodle.

Hi everybody. I guess Babble still works on April 1 Worm Day

oh yes...April 1st. It is my hammy's bday, he is one now! :)
Bye Carleekat. have a good day.
It never ceases to amaze me how 'not in touch' with world events people can be. Given the fact of Internet news and also general chat you would think you could keep up with significant events?
Just in time to say hello to elder.
Hello FMitch.
FM!!!! Haz!! *swooning with glee*
Hello Haz. how are you ?.
((Uni)) and Hello elder and Haz
And everyone else, of course! I can't stop, though, my lunch is waiting. I'll be back later. (Smelling salts for Uni!)
Haz and FMitch, I am working at home this afternoon.
I'm well, elder, I hope you are as well?
am fine thank you.
I depend on my trusty UK buds (birds?) to keep me in touch with the news overseas. You've done well so far!
Good. I'll be back later and maybe see you all then. Bye!
bye for now.
Tricky Haz. Enjoy the lunch and paper!
Great, Haz took chatwith her when she left.
she is the word lady:)
I never have time to read world news which is sad
ok i must depart enjoy
Bye for now Herin.
I get cranky because Canadian news is so rarely reported, even on Canadian outlets, so I skim. I can't take the depression, my life is busy enough with work and school.
Uni sometimes it's best to be selected. To protect oneself.
Canadians did well at the World Figure Skating Championships in LA last week. They won three silver medals
YAY CANADA!!!!
I am excited for the 2010 olympics...I get weepy at olympics always, let alone when they are at home.
As a team, the Canadians are the strongest in figure skating
good morning Babblers :)
Am away for a while. papers/ reports to sort out.
just heated up breakfast -- forgoing the yogurt today for a breakfast sammich or turkey sausage, egg white + cheese
hello Nono. and bye to everyone.
hi nono
am not too thrilled with this grid... the words just dont seem to jump out at me even at the start
the O was clued before but I didn't understand the clue... is it a 4? and is the rest of the word have to do with leg?
im right there with you, nono
hiya folks

le + a man can be well **ng + vowel
uni I was in your fair provence in may of 08... stayed very close to peggy's cove... the restaurant, wasn't impressed but the cove, beautiful.
It always seems more gentle to swear in another language. It's almost beautiful in Greek!

I have a lively 80. Whoopee
If we throw in Eva and Lori, we may well be nearly done!
i'm jealous Lori
50 now :)
i have 311 to go :D
Are these words left or words found?
thats quite a feat, oodle, since theres only 203 in the grid. ;)
found Haz
haz -- thats found...heh
Hah, that as 7 was my last a on the elft. Thanks kim
*shame* Found. You would know if you had stayed ;)
yw
That's good. I was just checking to see how smug I should feel.
Is...is....is... th th th that Haz?
It is I and no mistake, Lori.
Don't you go swooning as well.
Eva, your profile is wunderbar!
heheee only one re apparently and i just found it!
I feel like I'm watching the Discovery Channel. "and now, a glimpse at a sighting of the evry rare and endangered Haz...."
Thank you Nono! :) Got it
I found it too Nono. ***smug*** :D
All said in breathless, hushed tones...
my profile? *raises eyebrows questioningly*
Yes, with ultra close and somewhat alarming camera angles.
be back in a bit
You've always had a lovely profile, EvaN, that's why photographers flock round you.
Don't get that camera too close, Lori, not until I get the lighting right.
there is only one short for mater and that's it's two first letters when I put it in it doesn't accept it...
Are we still on the o word? Strikingly reminiscent of DEODAR!!!
haz -- the photographer who has done the majority of my pictures received a call yesterday from MTV's "True Life" -- they want to use her in one of their shows
oodle -- swap the letters round
Now I'm swooning. That de6/24 will haunt me forever.
ty
We need a Canadian How To Look Good Nakes. I wonder if Gok Wan would come over here and do an ep for me. I could use the help!
She must be good, EvaN. I hope she won't forget you when she makes it big.
Nakes = naked.
I still don't understand how those women, who profess hatred for their bodies, can strip off in front of cameras. Do they hypnotise them or something?
I love that show. He makes you love who you are, not who someone else thinks you should be.
oh, im sure shes already forgotten ME -- she has clients much more regular than lil ol me
ok later folks
Laters Nono, oodle
need help with the P's
Don't you believe it, EvaN. All her clients have helped make her successful.
2 pl's, 3 py's sm
shes been successful enough to quit her dayjob. i think thats awesome. :)
I want Gok to come here! Should start a protest. Yay for Eva's photographer though!
pl 4/7 pl 6/24, the py's are normal, and a 4/5 combo
thanks lori
For some reason, Ehva's profile won't open here. ***sigh***
YVW, sing out if ya' need a nudge
She's doing a ruru for April Fool's day - saying that she's leaving (EvaN that is)
Good morning!
doing a ruru?
doing a ruru?
G'd morning Merk
(pardon my hiccup!)
This grid is slow to open up tor me. I think I must need breakfast or coffee first
Rururocks announced that he was going to quit babble in the New Year to pursue other interests. It lasted 2 days before he was sucked back in again.
hah
Aha! If he had succeeded, he would have pulled a Uni. Only I didn't announce it, I just disappeared, lol.
lol, that's the evil of Babble.
*says Uni, who is here babbling right now*
He got lots of tributes and heartfelt pleadings not to go. It was quite touching and then hilarious when he didn't disappear at all.
Your issue was internet Uni, soon as it behaved, where did you jump back in????? <----- ***cough***
is anyone else struggling with this grid?
Well. I went from August 08 - jan/feb 09!
Merk, this grid is awful. Heinous and disgusting, oughtn't even exist at all.
Hello Merk. It needs a bit of work, very few sequences.
It's a hard slog Merk, you're not alone.
Good morning, Lori could you explain the py's are the 3 al pl4/5? Also could you give a clue on the pl6/24 I have the 4/7, thanks
That is so good to know. I thought it was just me.
im up to 65 words at the moment. :)
Missing 1 stoopid h, for hours now. Is there more than the 1 7?
pl 6 is the lining of the lung Marc
I am 44 in and tempted to list, as I can't think of anything.
Just one 7 and an 8
Go Ehva!
I expect that with short grids, but one of 194 should have some easy ones. Hitting the wall at 9 words? Yikes!
Keep going, Merk, they will emerge blnking into the sunlight.
feel free to share the H7 and H8 :)
py + opposite of out, then plural
An 8? Aha. Thanks Haz.
he8 - looks like a combination of a flavoursome plant and an operatic solo
he 7 is caused from lifting things sometimes EhVa, 6/7 combo
heh, thanks Haz. Wouldn't have found that
thanky. :) up to 71 words now!
You're welcome.
Tried to extend it in other unacceptable words though, that should have counted for something at elast. :)
Got the ps' now Marc?
Yes, I just doubled quickly to 18, but with some good clues and I peeked in on.
Yes Lori thanks, had to stop and get the he7 and 8
please help with the N
ni 4/4 sm
Seen after the first part of a divorce decree, before it's absolute. (ni4)

No problem.
My heavens. Only 56 words in and I have been trying for an hour.
Isn't it good that it isn't timed?
I have 2 7's from the d. Any more big ones?
This grid is poopy, isn't it.
So very good, it's true.
No, they're the biggest, Lori.
yes but I would like to go back and finish old grids like you can in Suduko. As anyone asked why that is not possible. Maybe get half credit for finishing late.
ive got the long-lasting DU7, hints on the other?
Why not suggest it to Dr-G? You'd have to do it on your own, no chat hints.
heh, you can add sometimes vowel to the 6/7 for another 7. wheeeeee
da 4/8 to smear? extend it like mad
guess i need to get the 6-7 :)
I'm missing a d, but that gave me the 4, a 5 a 6/7/7 Ehva
That second da7 would describe my attempts at painting.
lol Haz.
I have 11 da's and 8 du's. Any thoughts?
12 da words
theres a second 6 in there too, lori :)
thanks!
Ooh, thanks muchly Ehva!
Haz, not getting your clue
Gah. That one was stoopider. Thanks again Ehva. D is over with
Oops, and thanks Haz
da7/44 - describes those people who da4/8 (paint in rudimentary fashion), da7/52 replaces the last letter with sometimes vowel)
Missing 4 a's, so I'll continue to ignore that. To the M! I guess.
Thanks Haz!!
You're welcome, sm.
Good morning, Babblers. Happy Wednesday (Thursday for you Aussies).
Good morning Judi.
G'd morning Judi
good morning everyone
Good morning flosey.

le5/14 is the other le word
le + a picture is **ng on the wall + vowel
The m sucks. Gah
Thanks got it
Mmmmmmmm. Sucky.
Missing 3. Close enough. To the c!
Missing 4 c's. Close enough. To the g.
A clue for is7 please?
is + vowel + unit of weight
Well Lori that was easy, thanks
y v w
You should have held out and made it far more complicated, Lori.
lori, you and some of the others are throwing out some great clues.... I'm all the way up to 79 now :)
Yea Nono! Welcome back
Clues for dummies. Just my speed. Keep it up, Lori.
Hello Nono.
hi Haz!
Haz, perhaps like og + 2 other letters near the o?
d + Mixed up deer + backward king....
Always introduce something backwards, that helps to bamboozle.
DEODAR!
Somebody shoot Uni.
I don't get it
good morning
Good morning harpjane.
G'd morning harp
Stirring up controversy.
Does Camelot King help, Lori?
hi Jane
Hi, Harpjane.
sa5/14 please?
Camel who?
Darn, camelot king was the part I goofed.
sa + first 3 letters of the city in Latvia?
Camelot - it was a musical. Sigh. *humming score*
Uni's cluing sucks, she has me all confusitated now. :p
Oops! last 3 letters of the city in Latvia ***sigh***
Thanks LoriP seems like all I am doing is thanking you. Read your bio is it true
Sorry 'bout that! ***waits for admonishment from Uni, accepts it meekly***
Camelot: also a place to park your camels.
how many letters in the lone R please?
(Waiting for all to be revealed about Lori)
re5/14 comes from the lone r
5 letters on re in the grid
That's the re 5 I think Marc
Gah, meant harp. ***shutting up now***
yes I was very proud as I got it on my own
Can't get me out of your mind eh?
Thank You Marc for your comment on my bio.
Sorry, I was clipping Emma's talons.
No blood drawn, I hope?
You getto your room, Kim Basinger! She's my Mum :)
Only mine. She is fine.
lol Marc, yu've found me out. lol
And whoever has stlen my "o" if you just give it back, I won't ask any questions or press charges.
This ba 7/8 - is it normal?
Define normal? It's the one doing it....
Absolutely. Women look for them all the time.
thanks Lori
haaaaaaaz! lori! uni!!!!
Ata!
(Note the restraint - though glad, glad, glad to see you)
Ata Hari!!!!!!! <----extra!
**swooned at sight of glorious Dr Ata**
ata!
*hugs everyone madly*
Poor Uni. That blood loss to Emma has done for her again.
Haz, one of these days we'll lure you to the dark side of !!!!! abuse
Uni ba7/8 is a compound word and then pl
People will know it's not me when the punctuation goes into overdrive.
blood loss to Emma???!!!!
*waves at Ata* Don't mind me. Just chopped liver over here.
I can get the 7's and 8's but not the 5's need a clue for the second sa5/14, please
hi Ata!
hi nono! hi judi! hi eva!
No blood loss to Emma!! Slight claw loss (on purpose) and a bit of fur by accident.
Emma was having her claws clipped, only blood loss was Uni's.
Oooh Judi, you're paté? :D
ohhhhh ... that. dangerous, that.
sa 5/14 - like the long family story with a vowel inserted right in the middle.
At least I didn't shear her fur *snicker*
Anyone ever going to organize a babble convention?
No, nor post pictures of the indignity.
Several meet-ups have happened in various places, Marc, not sure about the logistics of getting people together from so many different places.
did I post the really really bad photo? seeing as you're all here, let me find it ...
Thanks got it haz
You're welcome, Marc.
Only if logistics is code for cost...
Don't forget to introduce the photo with a warning 'People of a dog-loving nature should avert their eyes'
We could all met on the internet, like in a chat room. Oh wait...... :D
That would be fun, Marc. We're global, so some of us are far flung from others. Perhaps a virtual convention - big screens, celebrity hosts, etc.
LOL Judi, maybe Jon Stewart could emcee?
there. note the zig-zag patterns ...
Oh, Ata, that's shameful.
LoriP could be the celebrity host
see why no-one saw till now??
We would need one celeb from each country. I vote Ed from BareNakedLadies for Canada. Or Leonard Cohen.
Oh my! Poor Hobbit. She needs many hugs...
It's perfectly understandable, Ata. Only pictures taken from the other side have been available up to now.
That poor dog looks like it just wants to hide it's head in shame.....Hello Babblers
Hello chiley.
I don't mind people seeing now cos her fur has grown a bit now and she looks almost respectable again!
Hi Haz...long time no see
Whereas Spangle, though forced to sleep in a kennel, is sporting a professional haircut.
hi chiley
I know, chiley, it's been a while. I just felt like chatting today, so here I am.
we should have an icon day for "the most famous person from your home town"
lucky Glitterata!
Emma still has a barren belly, but that was the vets fault. Made her a lady.
Is that even legal Ata?
I'd be able to put up Liam Neeson for that icon day.
I'd do either Allen VIzzutti or Mike Mansfield
G'd morning chiley
(or i suppose i could do the Unibomber)
Lori is the most famous person from my hometown. Although I've got several of those, so who knows?
poor Emma, is her fluff starting to grow back yet?
I'd have Bob Geldof
Hey, Bob Geldof! Yay Ata's hometown!
jane thats a good icon idea
K9 Dictionary: LEASH: A strap which attaches to your collar, enabling you to lead your person where you want him/her to go. DROOL: A liquid which, when combined with sad eyes, forces humans to give you their food. To do this properly you must sit as close as you can and get the drool on the human. SNIFF: A social custom used to greet other dogs, similar to the human exchange of business cards.
I could claim Mark Twain as he lived here for a time and is burried here
My Babble keeps locking up, Dammit. Have to keep exiting out and re-opening.
That K9 dictionary sounds about right, chiley.
DEAFNESS: This is a malady which affects dogs when their person wants them in and they want to stay out. Symptoms include staring blankly at the person, then running in the opposite direction, or lying down.
Ata - poor dog looks rather tragic. Perhaps professional groomers next time rather than sheep shearers?
yep, Bob shops in the local Tesco
lol Chiley and so true. How about WHINING, any definition of that.
i sent the idea to sprite
I just got the K9 dictionary email. I thought it was cute and certainly fits my fur kids
Definition of DOOR: something the dog is always on the wrong side of
I have to go. Getting ready to go to NY going to a concert. Just for the weekend.
then the right side ... then the wrong side ... then ...
bye bye Marc
BATH : If you find something especially good to roll in, humans get jealous, and they use this degrading form of torture to get even. Be sure to shake only when next to a person or a piece of furniture. LEAN: Every good dog's response to the command "sit!", especially if your person is dressed for an evening out. Incredibly effective before black-tie events. BUMP: The best way to get your human's attention when they are drinking a fresh cup of coffee or tea.
Have a good time, Marc, keep an eye out for Lori.
Before I do go need a clue for the last sc5/14
what concert, Marc?
sc + last 3 letters of prehistoric, extinct animals
PIDDLE: The perfect form of revenge when left behind in the house and humans go out in the car
sc5/14 - sc plus first letters of word describing anything to do with ears
Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, plus Donovan and Sheryl Crow, Jerry Seinfeld and Penelope Cruz. It is the David Lynch Foundation concert. First time Paul and Ringo have played together in 25 years. Go to www.davidlynchfoundation.org.
It sounds like whoever compiled the dictionary for dogs needs the Dog Whisperer!
Way cool, Marc. Enjoy. Where is the concert happening?
Hope you enjoy it, Marc. I'm old enough to remember Donovan and the Beatles first time around.
Radio City Music Hall
wearing down, need coffee brb
If our dogs didn't have these "charming" traits, what would we talk about?
Wow, that sounds awesome! I really like David Lynch. Glad to hear he does something like that!
Wow. Sounds like a once-in-a-lifetime event. *jealous*
cats!
Let's do talk about cats.
Twin Peaks episodes dictated my schedule in the 80's
cats are their own master
mine too, harp
Cats rule, dogs drool.
pl6?
He is trying to raise money to teach one million kids in the inner cities TM. They have done some test schools in SF with great results.
Not all dogs drool.
pl6 - think lungs and latin ending
Spangle would never drool. Far too ladylike
good cause!
huge Twin Peaks fan here too, harp!
I know. I love both dogs and cats. Twice the love and shedding.
do hamsters drool?
is he a TM practicer himself?
Never. I hated that Beethoven film because of all the drool.
Down to 31, need a mental health break. BBL have a good one all. "Specially Marc ***wink wink***
I hate to think that some of his ideas came to him during meditation!
See you later, Lori.
yes, but Haz did not get the sc5/14. Thought your clue was obvious and when I plugged in the three letter that it should of been it did not work
thanks for the pl
take care Lori
pl6- lung structures
bye lorikins!
sc5/14 - It's the same word as what you get with a wound, but put an extra vowel in towards the end.
I know Harp that is frightening. I almost used a word on the grid. But he did most of his stuff prior to meditation he says.
My hamster does not drool. He is one today, so getting on in life. I must make im a wee cane.
it's Jake's birthday? HAPPY BIRTHDAY HAMMY!!
Hamster birthday party for Uni's rodent!
*tosses cedar chips as confetti*
Glad to hear that, I think, Marc! ("my log has something to say....."
Thanks Haz had a different letter at the end.
He should have an extra helping of gr5/16 for his birthday.
You're welcome, Marc.
Poor guy is sleeping through all the celebrations.
I'll make him a carrot shaped like a cake. He'll go nuts for it. Maybe a bit of ice cream, lol.
awwwww
Do hamsters like ice cream?
What will you do for Emma's birthday? A cake shaped like a mouse?
Jake does. BIG fan. I have a pic of him and Emma (the cat) sharing ice cream drippings.
of course Haz with catnip frosting
Em doesn't like mice. Her birthday is two days after mine, I'll make us a cheesecake!
mouse cheesecake. haz will have a recipe
Today is the birthday of my precious springer -- no longer with us . . . I used to take him out for a cheeseburger every year on his special day! :-)
(trying to wrap my brain around a hamster birthday....)
I'm a very bad pet owner. I know Spangle was born in November but don't know what date.
(no, make the hamster dance stop!)
haz, I now have 3 rescue dogs -- your guess is as good as mine re bdays! LOL
I don't usually know when my pets are born, they just show up in my life and inform me that they are going to live here now
Haz, it helps when both of your pets are under one. Jake's I made up based on his age when I got him, and Emma I know since the was born in Lori's shed.
how long do hamsters live?
Our animals don't have recognized birthdays. For one, I have no idea when any of them were born (one adopted us and the other two are foundlings from shelters). Lord knows they get enough treats to make everyday a birthday.
hey, ruru!
exactly Jane, so we celebrate adoption dates
same here, judi LOL
days to years, Ruru. Average of 2-3 years. He's in middle hammy age now. :)
Here's ruru! You were mentioned in dispatches earlier.
I only know Hobbit's age because she arrived here with her ancestry papers including her birth date
hi une.. i pooped out soon after you last night
hi Ruru
I was.. what about?
still tired but at least we have SUN today!!!
good morning nono
*eyelids dragging on keyboard* Me need more coffeeeeeeee.
EvaNadine has an April fool's icon today claiming that she's leaving babble. I told her you had tried out the idea at New Year without success.
oh.. yeah.. didn't work out for me.. I am addicted and there isn't a chapter of Babblers Anon out here
ah, yes, I seem to remember that resolution LOLOLOL!!
si5?
plus I went cold wordy ... too hard to do..lol
I thought it was quite funny. All the goodbyes and fond farewells and suddenly, you're back.
every day is april fools day with my icons!
si5 greek letter
si5 - if it started st, it would be the sort of thing that's hard to live down.
I am a fool everyday...
last year on AF day I wore a HIDEOUS coat and waited to see if anyone would comment. It took four days....
thanks for the si
yw ;-)
BBL. Going on a caffeine run. More like a crawl, but you get the idea.
Did you have to wear the coat for four days to get any response?
Hello, Good People!
See you later, Judi.
this year i am thinking about buying a copy of "How to Profit from the Coming Rapture" and sneaking it onto the shelves of a bookstore that would NEVER carry a book like that!
Hello good Vicuna!
hi Viiii!111III!!!iiii!!!
later Judi
hi Vicuna
ANy joyful mayhem today?
Mayhem? In an orderly chat log like babble?
Oh, well, all right. I don't know what I can have been thinking.
*sigh*
Nothing too strange today, apart from the grid. People have been complaining about the grid.
my sister knows someons who got the A F virus
no new trolls or anything?
That's mayhem all right, harp, but not joyful.
When the Scots ba5/14 grows up, his ambition is to toss the ca5/14. He needs to take care to avoid getting a he6/21
does the A F virus automatically go away at noon?
lol flosey!
Hmmm... I'll have to figure out what they toss besides hammers and golf clubs.
lmao *says nothing8
they should have bagpipe tossing
You mean you're not up to speed with Highland games?
lol ru, as into the sea
yes
the most hideous instrument made
No, but I just learned that a burgeoning sport in Scandinavia is rabbit show jumping!
People, people, your Scots ancestors will be rolling in their graves.
Pops head round the door to say Hello!
bagpipes are torture
FMMMMMM!
HI FM
Hello FM!
FMMMMMMMMMMM!
hi FM
hello FM!
I find that bagpipes, like train whistles, are quite lovely and evocative when heard from a sufficient distance.
Husband and his sister once attended a bagpipe contest (lasted about 4 hours). They came crawling home begging never to hear another bagpipe.
Yeah like 20 miles
Hello all, lovely to see you
omg
I quite like them under the proper circumstances. Never have bagpipes play in a confined space, it'll blow your mind and your ears.
I went to a bagpipe and lute concert once... never heard the lute and hated the honking and sqeaking sounds that brought on a headache
hello
I agree Haz, my cousins are Scottish and had bagpipes at their weddings
my uncle composed a bagpipe *thing* for my wedding. It was lovely. But painful!
i was in a parade recently where for some unknown reason they decided to put the bagpipers right behind the horses! Lasted about 2 seconds!
Scottish horses must be made of stern stuff.
hi all
at the end of my dad's funeral, graveside, a lone bagpipe player stood quite apart from everyone, and played amazing grace - none of us knew he was there - it was beautiful
Hello jmc.
Hello, phaeton and jmcnrick.
morning jmc and phae
I listened to bagpipes at the Kirken of the Tartan at the National Cathedral in DC and liked it alot
"AS" word?
Yes, flosey, it can be wonderfully appropriate in the right setting. The Edinburgh Military tattoo always ends with the lone piper on the battlements and it's wonderfully atmospheric.
Ah now that is a different matter fosey and I can feel the hairs rise just at the thought of that
as7 - as , an auto, a verb form of 'to be'
Thanks, Haz. Didn't have that.
gm
You're welcome.
Good morning kje.
gm kje
thanks for as7
hello, kje.
morning kj, haven't seen you in a while
wow, what a group
been busy, flos, so on and off quickly... plus my Mac died a horrid death
Hey kje :)
*wonders nervously what kje means about the group*
hi FM, doing well?
ty has
hi kje
You're welcome, sue.
doing OK
it is a good group this morning, vi... no worries - LOL
A & B's done, now for a nap before school
*phew*
bye all
Bye, suefrad.
bye Sue
Bye sue.
bye sue
sorry to hear about your mac kje
Did somebody play bagpipes to close to it?
*too
so sad, jmc... bu get to pick it up today with my new hard drive installed! woohoo!!!
and.... a new system for backing up - LOL
If you can't play bagpipes for something named Mac, when can you play bagpipes?
woohoo indeed.
never
LOL vi
Back from coffee run. *shudders* Bagpipes. Arrgh. Sounds like someone squeezing a bag full of feral cats.
This is true, Vi.
Judi and ruru can bond over bagpipe aversion now!
I like bagpipes in the right setting - very mournful sound
I like bagpipes
You don't hear of many pieces written for bagpipes and solo voice, do you?
and bagpipes and drums are almost enough o get me to pick up a rifle and march
me too, jmc
That's really not true, Judi! When I squeezed a bag full of feral cats it sounded quite different.
in Texas they would beat bagpipe players to death
Props to the Scots for wrestling music out of that contraption.
In Texas they beat all kinds of people to death.
not true there are highland games in Texas too
the bag of ferals we did sounded just like bagpipes
a little frisky today, ru? up for a spat?
besides in TX there are tons of accordian players so they have no room to talk
Depends on how you sqeeze them, I suppose. (bagpipes or cats)
where are the highlands in Texas..lol
Don't forget that lots of people play variations of pipes, it's not just the Scots. The Breton pipes are more painful to my ears.
Good point, Judi!
if I squeeze Sily, she just vomits
funny, i have never heard an accordian player in TX... but have heard bagpipes
But she's not feral, Ata, so the comparison is moot.
you guys have got to stop squeezing your cats--its just mean
Is the highlands the same as the Hill Country?
LOL jmc
I can't imagine any parade without the bagpipe players in full regalia
there are lots of German and Mexican polka bands
IO can
I can athat is
ok, I need to go and find a feral cat now
Are you a sucker for a man in a kilt, flosey?
I love the polka bands too
there are lots of Scottish descent in TX--for example I am a six generation in the US and almost pure blooded Scot
lots of mexican mariarchi bands, but they do not usually have accordians
have ga8 and ma8......clue me the other two 8s plz
ata I think it is best to leave feral cats alone
Are you going to test the feral cat squeezing theory, Ata?
I love a man in a kilt, and hi, all!
*Requests the honor of this dance with flosey.*
no no haz, but I think the band looks very handsome in parade
no no the mexican polka is a big deal
ba8 - plural of ba7 - what you look for in the cut price shop
he and ba
there is a clan gathering yearly in Texas... all the kilts and bagpipes, etc
hi rbud
he8 - combine a flavoursome plant with an operatic solo.
thanks for ba7 and 8
As long as it's a clan gathering and not a klan gathering.
ty haz
You're welcome.
definitely Vicuna
ty haz
lol vic!
probably a few of those as well, vi, but nothing like western MD, the klan is huge there - scary as sh**
could I get a hint for the ca7? (my last 7)
klan is a more of a social club in some parts these days but still scary anywhere
sheets are at a premium in Texas
Social it may be, but of a very sick society.
why are you so down on TX today ruru?
ca7 - plural ca6/21 - sounds like but spelled differently to a woman's name (think Christmas songs)
I agree vic
just like to pick on kje..just kidding
ca7 - pl of ca6 where you study at the library
yep, ru is definitely spoiling for a fight..... hmmm, whether to take the bait
or actor in US version of "The Office"
I have your back kje (as a native Texan) *removing glasses and tightening belt*
thanks for ca6 and 7
aha! thanks, Haz and Vicuna! got them. :)
TY jmc : )
looks like I got out of Texas just in time!
puts on kilt
You're welcome.
*laughing at ru's skinny white legs*
My goodness, jmc! First picking up a gun and marching with the pipe and drums, and now getting ready for fisticuffs? What's come over you?
*closes eyes*
starting Alamo all over again?
now there's a sight to behold ru!
moons kje
I don't have must of a problem with virtual violence I guess--just the real kind
*blinded by the white*
oh dear, closes eyes
MOON! WOW WHAT A SIGHT!!
a full moon!
what's in ye sporran, ru? lol
its a FULL moon!
And ruru thinks bagpipes are anti-social.
That's no moon. That's a gas station.
lol torg
LOL haz - seriously, the boy needs medication
*shields eyes* Just say no to crack.
LOL tor
well he's ready for it kj
got your hypo handy
rofl judi
Oh dear. And I thought Babble was so refined.
*drawing up a syringe of throazine*
(Okay, I didn't really think that.)
what even gave you that idea vic?
go kje!
Well, you did ask expectantly for mayhem, Vi.
sits down
True enough, Haz! Wheeee!
Legs together, ruru.
you can sit, ru... thigh is just as good for the IM injection as the ass
Ankles crossed.
rofl, Haz!
Saucer in the left hand, teacup in the right.
need more coffee.. bbiam
Quick, let the polka band in while he's gone!
*thinking: ruru had enough stimulates*
You must have been playing Babble in an alternate universe, Vic. One lump or two?
woohoo *dancing polka*
does anyone else have a dog that likes climbing cliffs?
One, please, Judi. How kind of you to offer. Lovely weather we're having, isn't it.
*thinking...*
No.
No, I know of no cliff clmbing canines.
Quite. Quite. Finger sandwich?
always knew Hobbit was unique
ick eating fingers?
Only tender new fingers, jmcnrick. Judi would never serve inferior quality.
Scones? Clotted creme? Lemon curd?
oh in that case *looking over plate*
*adjusts monocle and applauds the polka band politely*
ah Judi, you got me there, love scones, clotted creme and lemon curd
Fix your hat, Vicuna, the bird appears to be tilting.
Only the finest fingers for my sandwiches.
I never saw a woman wear a monocle before! Very nice
The real question, Ata, is whether hobbit can rappel (abseil) back down.
Thank you, Haz. *adjusts hat, bird, and bird's monocle*
I knew you'd want to know.
there. check my pictuer!
lol, Vic.
Gosh that monocle on the bird is so small!
Your pictuer?
Well, women need to stare superciliously at things just as much as men do!
man, i keep getting dragged away by work, but every time i return, the chog just gets curioser and curioser!
Very nice, Ata!
I assume the funny black spot is hobbit?
picture as well!!!!!!
And are you complaining or approving, EvaN?
Impressive, Ata. I bit of moutain goat in that spaniel.
Cute, isn't it, jmc. My eccentric owl likes to peer superciliously at things, too.
She's probably just looking for somebody to take her to the groomers.
yep. I turned my back on her for about 10 seconds ...
*sporfles*
Eva, you are such a fraud. We know you're not going anywhere. No one ever leaves Babble. Ever. They may disappear, but they never leave willingly.
indeed. I wonder if the Rice Owl could get one? I think it would add to a school mascot
sporfles?
I'm telling you, you could raise some money for a proper haircut if you went to Canterbury, paraded Hobbit and threatened to play the bagpipes if people didn't contribute.
Ata does that on occasion, jmc. Don't worry; it appears to be harmless.
lol haz
Could someone clue the As7 please?
as7 - as plus an auto, then two letters of verb form 'to be'
oh *backing away from Ata* sure
Don't bother going to Canterbury. Just extort from ruru and Judi without ever leaving the comfort of your computer chair.
as+auto+form of to be
sigh must run off to bank--I am working from home today so will get to play more, but still have to work
bbl
much easier :)
See you later, jmc.
Bye, jmc!
I should go as well. It's time for Spangle's afternoon walk and I've been here for ages.
ba 7 anyone?
Farewell, Haz!
go collect her from the kennel
ba7 - purchase too cheap to pass up
Bye for now!
oh jeez
Ty for the As7.
Bye, Haz!
thanks vi
I am back, ba5/14 the first one, please?
You're welcome.
My first is a Scottish child.
hello all
Hi, Peri!
got the ba7 and as7 from clues, thanks. help with 8's pls
and the other 7's too pls
don't know how I missed the ba7. I am a great ba7 hunter.
ba5/14, the first one please?
Do you ever get more than one ba7?
sometimes, Vicuna
Can I assume that my first that I clued is not it, Marc?
Then you have one of the 8's.
I am not sure
duh, thanks Vicuna
oooh, kettle's whistling! Bye!
ba5 - the Scottish child - anagram of br5 (grey matter)
ba5/14 the 1st...scottish children
Oh, got it, thanks
thought I had nbt but am mising the i above the G pls
is7 = is + circle vowel + a small unit of weight
hi all!

Hello, all. I'm just taking a break from ironing and going to try this grid which some people have apparently taken to champagne because of the difficulty and they hate (not the champagne, the grid.) So far is that correct? I shall commence my word work now.
Yes, stidge, you got it right.
welcome stid
has us looking for things we didnt know we lost lol
good luck, stidgmere.. you should breeze through the first sweep... the newbies have been giving my monkeys a workout, but thanks to them and to Lickety's list, am almost done..
I sometimes think I don't even know English after working on the grid.
lol, and enable's English is interesting too
Aloyisius, you might mistake me for my daughter, who is amazing. I am the one who has two dictionaries at my right hand.
well, that's a good tactic for sure! I might grumble, but I think "newbies" are one of the attractions of this game.. (-:
like the one I just monkeyed, the last sa.... sa + transgression for sa5.10
" Tis a *** to tell a lie"
thank you monkeys, thank you Lickety.. done! Off to the kitchen for me too.. Happy Babbling all.. see you next grid.

One of our radio stations told people Barrak Obama was in town ..
I heard that Torg
it is addictive stuff, but if I write msgs I stop thinking, can't multitask
*wrings hands wickerly* we caught another one, bwahahaha
Do you listen to them DR?
no- my hubby does
he's in london having dinner with the G20 and a few friends!
that is what I said Jmc when hubby called all excited
I told him - watch CNN
did you hear it Torg?
Yes. It was pretty funny. I guess a lot of people went downtown ..
I am sure! us laid back californians...
I listen to that show a lot so I knew it was a joke after a few minutes .. They do something every AF Day ..
YEs, they have done some good ones
the best one was the space shuttle one
so the calendar wasn't a clue for all those people? I hope the radio had a van with some nice give aways there
That was genius
JMC_ A few years ago the same radio people reported that th espace shuttle was landing at one of San Diego's municipal airports..
It tied up freeways and caused major havoc...
People really believed it!
and people went? PT Barnum was correct a sucker is born every minute
people still say " remember the space shuttle ..."

I should be preparing for my French oral exam. Instead, I babble! Hello all
Goodmorning Uni and everyone
c'est terrible. Hi uni
I believe you are up early, Lynxxx! How are you?
No, I have actually slept in today. 7am here. I'm OK. French? did you speak French anyway?
Mon francais est tres terrible. I am in a first year course, and just barely learning.
And 7 am is early in my book, but I guess that is a luxury of student life.
I think I just assumed all Canadians spoke french and english fluently, obviously wrong
hello all!
Nope. Canada is bilingual, but only something like 1/3 of the population speaks both languages. The sad part is that I have acadian heritage, but my grandfather decided not to teach me French
hi TOwl!
Hi TO!
hey uni, lynxxx, and returning hi to others
du 7 clue please?
Hi Owl
hello all, back to find my last 22 words
hi Peri
my friend Micheline is canadian (acadian) and speaks fluent french...she says she still thinks + dreams en francais...
du7 is strong and longlasting
hi Eva
ty lynxxx
bonjour!
So is english the primary language used in schools in Canada?
please for the y words i have only either the male or the frmale part of the tao...( i forget! ) may i have clues for the other two please?
thanks lynxxx
yi4.6 uses dble cons
Lynxxx, in NS english isprimary language, but there are french language schools and french immersion programs. It varies province by province. I would assume Quebec teaches primarily in French, but most are largely English.
I had six years of (mandatory) French in elementary and junior high, but learned nothing. This course has taught me far more than all those other years combined which is silly. If I had been taught properly at a young age, science says it would have been easier.
never heard of acadian
ty lynxxx, i think i am all bableted out after the last two days...i can't believe there is one tat didn't make it in?! :/
like fir with double cons + pl
peri: did you never read "Evangeline"?
TY for all that info, very interesting
Is Acadian heritage not taught in US? The expulsion is taught here, as well as documentation of where they landed in Louisiana, etc.
for the l i have the word that sounds like it goes with lascivious - aclue for the other please?
I think in the English/French regard we are an unusual country. The languages are not fairly divvied, even though it would be very easy to teach them both properly at a young age. :)
le5.14 e & we are all **m*n beings

Nice, Kazzer - our garden's starting to sprout, too.

Hello, Une! :)

hi bab ty too
I am just making up silly words now think I'll go to bed with a good book. Goodnight all
nite, deeha :-)
be well, Deeha
Good night, Deeha . . .
is*late; and tele****
gn deeha have a wonderful trip
I got it right away and now NBT
I always think the vowel words are 4's
They often are, westford - but not always! ;)
I tend to think the same . . .
thank you JC for saying something I was beginning to think everyone had left
it was lonely lol
Oh, you're welcome westford but no - I think noses are in the grid! ;)
Awww . . .
having a list is nice
Hi guys
Yes westford, it certainly helps . . .
hi lind ltns
Hi, Lindrickway . . .
hey JC I see you live in Ashford.....do you like it there?
I am thinking of moving somewhere nearish!
Lindy doesn't live in England... *stern mama look* hello all.
hi stid
Yes, Lindrick - that's why I bought this property and moved here! ;)
hi Stid, how ya doin?
Stidmama!!! :)
What about her not living in England, stid?
And how *are* you??? Well, I hope? :)
oh cool thanks JC, I am looking at Ashford, Faversham & Canterbury at the moment!
I am P****D O**, actually... but somewhat relieved also. NOT going in to the college early because I am SO ANGRY.
Oh - never mind, I see now Lindy - you're thinking of moving over here?
I see . . . what makes you want to move here?
NO!!!! LINDY CAN'T MOVE FARTHER AWAY!!!!! *wail*
would you like to vent stid?
Oh no, stidmama - I'm sorry to hear it! :(
What's wrong???
LOL Stid, I'll be here for another year!
*stomps around chog in a huff*
Yes JC
oh. okay. well... maybe you'll change your mind in the meantime? *cleans house quickly and makes tea for Lindy to be enticed to stay*
make her some tea JC Hurry!
*Hugs* stidmama . . .
the woman at the college who hired me to do some part-time work this quarter and next is an old friend.
thanks Stid!
BUT she is a very poor communicator and didn't articulate her needs to me clearly.
Erm, have you any idea how much more expensive it is to live over here, Lindy? :P I know it's much worse than where you are now . . . it's worse than almost anywhere, I think! :P (I'm trying, stid!) ;)
WHEN I would do things for her I ALWAYS asked her to check and tell me what was accurate, and what needed to be changed.
Oh, I see, stid . . . and what's happened?
Yes, of course - that makes sense.
LOL I have always wanted to live near London and with the house prices dropping over there now might be my best chance!
You can't do anything without knowing that!
BUT she wasn't doing HER part... and now she is upset because things move so slowly. so she asked a woman at the college (professional programmer) to try to do the work that I was HIRED to do.
not very fair stid
Hmmm, but why Lindy? What's wrong with where you are? You would probably miss your homeland and famly and friends there terribly . . .
AND she is miffed that I am not at her "beck and call" 24/7 (I hate that expression), and surprised that I have classes to attend and study for, and children to take care of.
It's a very big adjustment, to go live in another country, where you don't know anyone - or do you have friends or family here?
(((((Stid))))))))
*grumble* and now she's on the phone.
I am English born & bred JC!
Oh goodness, stid - as if you're not supposed to have a life of your own???
Oh I SEE, Lindy - well, that makes more sense then!
oh, stid, that's SUCH an infuriating situation --- soooo sorry!
So you would be moving back here . . .
Coming home! ;)
*sigh* back later....
Yes but I am from North Yorkshire, so it would be an exciting adventure again!
Ahhh, just looked - north Yorkshire, yes!
bye Stid, keep your chin up (0:
Awww, OK stid . . .
*Hugs!*
There's some beautiful country up there . . .
just think lind yorkshire pudding every day!
lol west! you can buy frozen ones here!!
oh no
Ooh, I say - I like that funny story of yours, Lindy! ;) What a way to go . . .
there is but I like cities much better
they can't be as good
yeah my dad sent me it JC!
you haven't tasted my home made puds west! )0:
HAHAHA, I've lived in parts of London all my life, and it's such a lovely, welcome change to be out here now - and get away from the hustle and bustle and all that smog! ;)
I do spend a lot of time there still, though . . .
oh I just love London, makes me feel alive and Fullers is my favourite ale!
lind they must be good isn't that the law?
in that case I have broken the law!!
lol
I do love it as well, Lindy - it's just nice to be out here now, and not have to be there all the time! ;)
yeah best way to have it JC, near enough but far enough away!! lol
I'm enjoying the peace and quiet and cleaner air, out here. It's nice to take walks around here with the dog, and all that . . .
Yes, Lindy - exactly. It's a reasonable commute from here, but far enough away! ;)
JC how do you get to London?
where as for me it is a 7 hour flight )0:
Get in my little GT and drive . . .
on the Magic Roundabout?
GT?
HAHAHA, not quite . . .
Yes, my little car, Lindy.
is that a Midget?
Alfa Romeo GT.
aaahhhh
Midget, well - it's small enough.
I thought I had the as7 but enable says it's not there
I love cute little cars, I have a mini cooper s, it is great!
asiago is a cheese, yes?
as 7 is a parasitic roundworm inhabiting the intestine
Yes, they're the smart way to go these days.
hey BR, how ya doin?
ooh ty bab

And most of all....fun!

sometimes it helps to talk things out
well, I guess I am not "quit" or "fired" -- but still feeling a bit perturbed. we'll see.
I asked her to go through EVERYTHING and let me know in writing. That way we can all be clear.
She was okay with that.
better than you having to read her mind
thanks west. *sits down with tea* I think I deserve a half hour of babbling now...
you surely do !!
NashVegas is SUCH a classy city -- latest addition to downtown: Wild Bill’s Beignets & Bikes

supposedly delicious and authentic beignets and chicory coffee but what a name! LOL

clue, stid?
on he 7 it's a plural for he 6/21
brb phone again.
ty. don't have that yet, but will keep seeking
get it from heavy lifting fuqua
aha, ty, west!
yw
Welcome back, stid - and snow, in April? Is spring ever going to arrive where you are, I wonder? :/
I think she went to answer the phone, JC.
could someone please clue y words? I just have yi4 (opp of yangs)
Yes fuq - hopefully she'll see it when she returns.
yi 4/6 add a railroad
and plural for the 5
back now. yes, snow. spring? I doubt it. I think this will be the second time since the early 1800s that we don't get any summer to speak of.
thanks, west!
Hmmm . . . I think you'll have to get summer eventually?
yw !
I'll send some over to you! ;)
Only our rainy days though! :P HAHAHA . . .
thanks JC
HAHAHA, you're welcome! :P
You probably want to swat me right about now . . .

hello BR
oh, ty!
is 7
It's like a word for very angry, stid - only a different last consonant.
thanks BR and JC
You're welcome . . .
I could use a little more help on that is7, br
*thinking* very angry? like steamed? or more so?
oh! I GOT IT!
is + vowel and tele****
fuquay, it ends like a metric measurement for "ounce" (g4)
ty, br. was trying everything I could think of with that prefix
JC's word is from the other i
Oh good, stidmama - thought you had it already when you said think you. Must be how you've been feeling today? :/
Mine was from the other i ?
I didn't think so - but I still don't undestand how this all works, sorry! :(
I try . . .
down to 109. Will stop when I reach halfway.
yes, JC. the word that started with the middle row i was the is7 that br clued.
101.5
*now trying to get last i from JC's clue*
Oh, I'm lost . . .
LOL that is what Lucky's "normal" temp is!
Think of a 3-letter word for extreme anger, stid . . .
the way it works is that words are "attached" to the first letter in the grid (starting at top, reading left to right) that they could be made from
Then a 5-letter word meaning the state of having that feeling, only change the 2nd consonant.
Oh?
oh! got it JC, thanks!
You're very welcome, stidmama! :)
so your word could have started with the i in the 2nd row, or the i in the 3rd row, but because the 2nd row is first in the sequence it gets "credited" to that letter in the grid
Oh, OK - thanks for explaining that, fuq. :)
oh my. halfway!!!
yw. more than you wanted to know, probably
Well, no - I needed to know it! ;)
So thank you . . .
it does make cluing quite tricky at times
Yes, I can see that now . . .
clue for L? can't seem to see anything from there
another spelling for word that goes with lacivious
sorry all, got distracted again.
oh, interesting. didn't know you could spell it that way
barue
go tessa go!
creative, tessa, but is it a word?
That's fine, stid - I'm distracted too. By the grid! :P
well, I think I'll get the list and see how far I get in another 20 minutes...
Darn puzzle . . .

Dorens! are you having a stroke? ;)
dorens? you okay
oh my, told you i was tired.. right hand in the wrong place.. think it was smething like i wish i didn't (care)
ok. turned the light on. slapping my face!
Well dorens you are ahead of Jilli and i!
drunk women (in a group) are hard to handle
dpends on how you look at it. you are ahead of me in that you are evolved enough not to care if you finish a grid when it is in your best interests to give up and get to bed
so are a bunch of drunk guys for that matter
Drunk women are very very mean, whereas drunk guys are usually easily directable.
I was called a variety of choice names...
I toally agree, red *hic*
really? for what did you do?
I don
I RU
I told her she could not go home as 1. she had no ride, 2. she had no car, 3. her alcohol level was too high, and 4. she wasnt acting normal...
and she needed to sit down.
I don't get mean, I get sedimental
like silting jilli?
Jilli, you may come and be drunk in my ER any day.
or the bottom of a bottle of wine?
PARTY @ REDS
something like that...but not like the old lady in a wheel-chair who pulled a gun on people in her assisted-living residence near Vancouver today!
Hi jilli, how was your busy day at the Library
back for final 95 lol
nuts
hi flosey -- it was, ummm, interesting
ok, am sure it was
red, she shot two people and was then shot by the police. This was because she was being evicted -- don't know whay.
SOunds like she had an issue....very horrid.
wow
must be an interesting story there jilli - have never heard of a person being evicted from a nursing home
hi eveyrone... damn I thought I closed this... appearantly I didn't
I am going to be a cranky old bastard with guns when I get there too...
s

ust kidding
hey, oodle :-)

I will cook my way into their lives
I love to watch them jilli
Ok im back. Hi OSGm

yw
hi, shirlock :)
I am good I just sorted the house out to clean up. I swear himself drags more books out of our library than whats in there
how tiring reshelving them all, herin
that sounds productive
I reread my books all the time..
I don't reshelve anything. He is too anally retentive
good for you herin - same here, hubby is often working on multi tasks at one time - thus, piles of stuff here and there - and all over
I am currently reading Justice for Jamie. The Mistaken Incarceration of Jamie Koeleman. http://tinyurl.com/c8g7ac
I just go from room to room and get stuff set up
I'm currently reading Anathem by Neal Stephenson
I am ready "Of Wolves and Men" by Barry Lopez
reading
not getting the last da6 either
this is a hard grid
ruru is that the sequel to Of mice and men?
I don't have much time to read while at home - babble took over my reading time, now read when I'm back east,
no
i'm currently rereading the motorcycle diaries - hello, everyone
;-)

i cook with ag4.6
would someone be so kind as to clue me on the 2 ri words please

oh, wow, i totally misread that, west :">
made me look seain lol
Hawaiian tree with a red flower, Shirlock.
Hi, btw.
what the heck are the 8's
HI Jac
do you have the stats or do you need them?
ba8.60 - 'snips' when you're shopping
No idea what they are
ba8 if you buy a brand new care for 4000$ it is this
ga8/60 - those who waffle on.
do know the hawaiian tree
le + **m*nkind
don't know the hawaiian tree
he8/55 - flavoursome plants you cook with, in an arrangement or group.
hoo boy, thx dinok
hard grid with odd words
ma6/55 - those who made the Elgin statues.
thank you i totally missed the end
he4 - at lunch today i orderd must-o-museer as appetizer and they gave me a small plate of parsley and watercress and radish and onion with it, which was quite lovely.
I thought it a strangely familiar grid when I began it. It all seemed to fall into place and that's why I put the stats up when I finished before Lickety appeared.
and the last one Jac?
tyvm, jac :)
did it have sour cream with it seain?
I've done all 4, Herin.
ma 8?
no, west, as it's a yogurt and onion thing, ther was a small piece of feta with it, though
y/w dcs.
is that what you ment?
yogurt rather than sour cream then?
Yes, Herin. ma8 = the ones who made the (disputed) Elgin statues.
ok thank you
Sorry about typing a 6.
must-o-moseer is yogurt and onion as far as i know; never heard of sour cream in nor with it, though i'm sure there are regional variants
(extend the ma6, Herin - a good surface for making pasty on.)
reminds me of a plate my mother used to make for my dad in the summer
I believe it had cucumber slices in it as well
neat, west. Whence hales your mom?
oh goodness me thank you
is the AS7 a "normal" word?
oh, sort of like tadziki then?
she's french he was polish she might have just made it up
this is more like labne/lebne
try as + auto + to be
as7 is a type of roundworm.
une?? are you still here?
I had a much better as word that enable wouldn't take asiago
ty vm Dinok & fireworks
that's a name brand/region, so proper noun
congrats, pug!
I see seain still like it better lol
I make up recipes all the time. I write them down so I don't forget what I did and, if we like them, I keep them and, if we don't, I throw the notes away, or try another day to improve.
wel don pug!
Enable wouldn't take airbag/s either.
very good idea jac
I noticed
i make wonderful stuff and forget how i did it!
we still rave about your sweet and sour sauce jac
now i want biscuits
i don't make up recipes but i do experiment
ty again ,desperately tired & must flop.Happy Babbling all! poofters!
Harp - that's why you should write it down either as you're doing it (food all over the notepad) or just after you've done it. LOL
i don't write stuff down tho so makes it hard to redo -- it's always a surprise!
West - glad you like my sauce.:-)
it is wonderful jac
Hi Pug
Herin - I am NOT making you biscuits at this time of night! It's 3.40am here.
but muuuuuum :D
Did you try the cranberry & orange sauce, West?
we had biscuits for dinner but you mean 'cookies' don't you?
lol you guys are about as distant as two people can be anywhere in the world! UK and NZ
Herin - *stands with hands on hips* - you'll have to have the bought ones from the tin.
no, not yet jac but I will
I cook in spurts
Criminal Minds is good tonight
West - UK and Antipodes only call the fat things with choc or ginger of whatever in them 'cookies'. All the rest are biscuits.
hi all
West - all the spurting must make a real mess of the cooker.
hi harp nd jmc
is dinok here ag5?
hi jm
lol jac to say nothing of my cookbooks
46 to go
Hi Harp and jmc.
si5, pls?
a greek letter dc
hu 5/18 pls
duh. ty, jmc
hu5 and find it, jmc
rush, in a hu***
da4 welki fish me
I have noticed that any kind of tomato sauce spurts when you are heating it. Or rather splurts; it warms up, starts to bloop and then splurts all over the place if you don't cover the pan.
Do tomatoes have some kind of jumping beans in them?
seems like doesn't it?
lol jac I think it is just the cells bursting
Yes, West, it does.
jmc - I'm sure you're right.
fireworks (finally .. was a toughie) .. can i help before i sign off?
Well done, welki.
yay welki!!
I am not even going to start explaining biscuits and cookies..BUt jac I think i may make tomato soup for dnner
ty
<-- likes aussie tim tams :)
Cream of tomato or some other version, Herin?
Tims Tams are awesome
I made a lovely green soup the other day. If you want the recipe, Herin, check my blog.
Just plain tomoto.
wtg welkie
tim tams?
thanks .. g'night folks, happy babbling!
My daughter's new b/f, who is a chef, made her a lovely carrot and tomato soup the other day.
Tim Tams are biscuits.
yum jac
I'm making a batch of cream of tomato soup for me and my son to have for Monday and Tuesday. Will make it on Monday.
Other Half says he 'isn't a soupy person' so has never tried my home-made soups.
'Night Welki.
gosh, can't imagine why not try them, jac
i would
doesn't know what he's missing
I will try pretty much anything
we love a good home made soup
ok that's it brain cramps see you peoples tomorrow
I love homemade soups...have been craving a good minestrone
my brother is like that won't try anything new
and for you herin later on tonight
Dunno, dcs. He's very like my Dad was, e.g. 'I don't like *whatever*'. 'Have you ever tried it?' 'No. Don't like the look of it,' LOL
falling asleep at keyboard pini are you here?
does he cook at all jac?
'Night oodle.
my house rule was I would not go out of my way to cook something I knew you didn't like but you had to eat what I cooked
West - My Other Half? Yes, he does.
ah, circular logic :)
challenge him to make a soup that he will eat
it was funny when a new guy came among my son's friends and I cooked supper all of the others said to him -- try a little bit you might like it!
lol Jac- sounds like my ex and his uncle. They order hamburgers everywhere you go, because it "is the one thing no one can screw up"
or a stew
West - I might just do that when we're next on holiday and he's not stressed by work.
mmmm... stew
pini?
i must cook on in the near future
Oh, he likes stew and casseroles. It's my son who won't eat those.
always something lol
I kid you not, it's like working in a bloody restaurant sometimes...
i will try most things
we ought to have a virtual potluck here
Me too, except sushi.
screw them if they don't like it they can cook for themselves
My daughter loves sushi, and even my picky son likes some sushi.
ah, tamago :)
I am a little freaked out by some of the stuff that dude eats on "Bizarre Foods"....too bizarre for me
I admit I do not like sof shell crabs
bed for me
night all
and you're in the right place to get them
sa 5.14, pls?
night JMC
nite jm sleep well
night jmc
starts like a former city in vietnam
zzzzzzzzzzzzz*poof*
magMom - I don't know what programme that is, but have you seen some of the stuff Heston Blumenthal cooks? 'snail porridge', 'frog blancmange'. That stuff is beyond the pale!
sa5.14 or last sa5.10, pls?
'Night jmc.
wow, i just checked the scores, i have 1028 who's hot points! I think that's my record!
sounds right out of MacBeth
well done harp
Jac it is on the Travel Channel here in the US- the guy's name is Andrew Zimmern and the stuff is just unbelievably repulsive, although I guess if you were a native of some of the places he goes it wouldn't be
sa5/14 has a vowell insterted into the first sa4
sa5.24 kind of rhymes with the Indian big cat who's orange with black stripes.
I'm trying to get 1030, never have done that! It involves babbling 30 consecutive days, which I usually don't do
i guess i really should do shtuff
I once saw Bruce Parry (in the series 'Tribe') eat a large spider which had been cooked over a fire wrapped in a leaf and then pick his teeth with its fangs.
egads Jac.....YUCK!
The ultimate insult to the spider, I guess.
ty, jac
Any more clues needed?
hugs everyone by bye
Herin - you could do shtuff, but you might not want to.
'Bye Herin. I guess duty calls.
au5?
bye for a little while herin
woohoo! I finished! Nite all- happy babbling :-)
au5 = another word for 'ear', torg.
yay magmom!!
good for you mom
Hi Torg, btw.
hi again
Heyas kids
Well done MagMom and goodnight.
Hi sue.
hi sue
Thanks Jacs
hi torg an sue
y/w torg. I'm glad I didn't have to say au + first 3 letters of what you do when you get out of bed in the morning, or else everyone would have been looking for aupee.
LOL
lol jac and don't forget the middle of the night
ru5,12
Only if you've drunk too much or you're a male with prostate problems, west.
the last r
nah wait until you get older
nm
got it
BTW, I entered the blog earlier today by saying that I was disappointed that Enable doesn't accept the word 'bumgas'. I'm sure it *should* be a word.
lol jac
ma6 after the sculptors?
Oh Gawd, West - you're 11 years' older than me. Is that yet another 'delight' I have to look forward to, after stress incontinence and hot flushes?
students dread them torg
Torg - the blank space at the side of the page in your schoolbooks.
probably not I do drink a lot of coffee
Thanks again
Ah, West, that does irritate the bladder. I drink very little coffee, but lots of tea. Both have caffeine.
funny thing I didn't drink coffee until I was well into my 40's
not counting Irish coffee lol
I notice that the ma6/27 is ready drawn in schoolbooks now. Back in the 60s and 70s, one of the first tasks of the new school year after writing your name and form (class number) on the front cover, was drawing the 1" margins on each page with a ruler and a pencil.
West - I love Irish Coffee, but I don't often drink it.
and they'd better be straight too!
that's what I meant when I said students dread them
I drank coffee until I was 27 and into my first pregnancy. I drank tea more often after that.
we meant to have it on St. Pat's day but we never got around to it
EEEK! I said the word. Sorry!
I didn't get that clue west because we never did that
you are very young aren't you torg?
West, if you do have an Irish coffee make sure you use Jamesons whiskey in it.
No
oh yes jac have some in a Lismore decanter as we write
yes, what jac said!
Torg's 52, if his profile is true. He should have had to draw the ma6.27s.
All is well then, West.
ru5/16?
here's a good story our friend's new son is named Morgan Jameson after his father's 2 favorite libations
It is true, but I never did that ..
Torg - when did you reach 52? I don't get there until April 22nd.
jac, my mother was raised with notebook paper with ma6 preprinted, and she's older than torg by a bit.
Russian money
West - LOL!
Nov. 8 Jacs
his grandmother was mortified
thanks i thought i put that one in.... long grid today!
dcs - Ah, well I went to and old-fashioned, even back in the 60s/70s, all girls grammar school and NOTHING was made easy for us. Having said that, we found at the 25-year reunion, that though it had 'damaged a few' it had made most of us into feisty women.
Torg - 5 months older than me, then.
(Poor old sod!) LOL
Get off my lawn ..
sa5, not the first
fireworks finally!!
Stomps on Torg's lawn and kicks a few divots out.
Well done, West.
Whippersnapper!
thanks!
go west
Yay west!
sue - it rhymes with the big orange stripey cat from India.
I need that too sue
ty sue and torg
*dons Miss Whipper outfit' and lashes Torg.
jac do you go to Buckingham palace and share a birthday cake with the Queen ( hers is only 1 day before yours isn't it? )
Oh, my Other Half would be sooo jealous if he reads what I just did to you Torg. LOL
*Yowie*
West - it is, and St. Gorge's Day is the day after. I'm still waiting for my invitation. I guess it's been lost in the post for the past 50-odd years.
Whip me gently please ..
LOL, Torg. I think we should stop this now.
not getting the cat one
*George, not 'Gorge'
Yes .. A little goes a long way ..
when husband was in the Navy we always had British and Aussie exchange officers and the Queen's Birthday was a great party
It rhymes with a Bostonian's pronunciation of the cat
jac why not have a party and invite her?
sue - exercise system Ta* Chi + first 2 letters of a thing played in football, baseball, hockey eetc.
West - if she came, I'd be gobsmacked, but I'm not sure I could cope with all the security checks beforehand. I'm a rebel at heart.
I imagine they get tired of all the security too
My home is my castle, and if I had the money to buy up land and woodlands to stop the spread of building roads and housing estates, I'd do it.
a necessary evil
still building as much?
She does, West.
But how can she sidestep it in today's over-cautious society?
I remember hearing years ago that someone came in and was sitting on the side of her bed
bet heads rolled that day
How many staff did Obama's entourage have when visiting UK on Tuesday? Over 200, I think.
Michael somebody or other, that was, West.
She was very calm on the outside about that. Bet she was sh*tting herself inside. I would have been.
he told a story of wanting to walk 500 yards and the Secret Service said "No sir, you can not"
Whee .. Fireworks for me ..
oh me too jac
congrats, torg!
Well done, Torg.
yay torg!!
go torg!
I guess that's one case for sharing a bed with your husband. You can prod him and wake him up.
can I have the last sa5
sue - sa _ one of the 7 deadlies.
ty
he could brandish his vorpal sword
closed the s
sa + grocery chain
except sp
Oh, the Jabberwock. My favourite poem, West.
Oops that's the other one ..
nm
closed s
hu6 can be fun :)
I think he'd be more likely brandishing his police baton, and my son, if he was alerted, would be brandishinf a baseball bat.
I meant Prince Philip
I'd be the one with the knife. As a cook, I have some biggish knives, but I don't own a sword.
West, I know you did. He does own a sword or two, but I doubt he keeps them in his bedchambers.
his sword is around here somewhere part of his dress uniform
Weapons and uniforms are not kep in the Palace bedchambers.
(Unless they're from Anne Summers). LOL
lol
I'd sleep in the crown jewels
It must be hard (well, not *hard*, if you're a Royal male). How can you 'perform' when you know there are peope listening outside the door? I guess the only way to gt over that is to be or become one who enjoys flaunting.
in the Tower of London, west?
hello again
I was wondering that, jilli. (Hi again, btw.)
is?
Not very comfy, West.
wb, jill, nice dinner?
those outside the door must be trained never to hear anything
Sue, a small amount of weight
Heya jilli
A line on a map connecting like points, sue.
well....the crown jewels....family jewels...
just call me Ann Boleyn
how was dinner jilli?
Hello Anne Boleyn! LOL
quite nice, for a deli dinner, west
cold plate jilli?
the wine was the best part ;)
jilli, have you tried Bruce's take out? in Gasoline Alley?
no, Southern Fried chicken breast, scalloped spuds, fresh brussels sprouts
The problem with sleeping with your head on the crown jewels is that they gt rather hard to sleep on when morning comes, you will be shove=ed away so fast that yourhead might snap off, as the 'keeper' rushes off.
no -- flosey -- must do -- I thinkhe was in GVM the other day, buying a load of ham
sounds good jilli
Hi Flosey. You saying Gasoline Alley makes me think of the Rod Stewart song.
not getting it DC
he's a big boy!
nm, got it
Gasoline Alley is/was a comic strip
great icon jilli, I purposely didn't choose the jay, figuring you might
how big, flosey?
yes west, I remember it
your dinner sounds delish jilli
ir5 and le5
hmmmm, easily 300 + lbs
and Gasoline Alley here is a street behind a gas tation. We also have Tin Can Alley, on the way to the recycle depot.
It wasn't him, then, flosey!
great names jilli
ir5 - Muslim word, but try i plus sounds like police storming into a place.
he was a former student of George's and was very thin back in HS - since becoming a Chef guess he samples everything
le5 - Hawaiin tree with red flowers.
flosey -- how gracious of you not to pick our Jay! And if you had, I would have picked our quail!
lol
Jilli - my daughter's latest b/f is a chef. It's so nice to see someone of her own age looking after her and cooking for her.
also thought of the gulls, as hubby calls sh** hawks
west, that's one of the things I like about not livingin Quebec, where English names are illegal
lucky girl Jacula, my son does the cooking, his wife does the cleaning
FIREWORKS
ty all
wow jilli illegal?
YAY sue!!!
wtg sue
and didn't they just pass a law that woman must keep their maiden names?
well, here we have our ruru...
yes, west, on both counts
Women MUST keep thier maiden names? What if they don't want to?
who would you be in Quebec jilli?
they can hyphenate, I think
hmmmmmm, I'd have preferred my maiden name to Laundry!!!
Gillian Murray
that would be more sensible
so Gillian is French too?
I wanted to keep mine when I married, but couldn'd back in the 70s. However, should I choose or be chosen to marry again, I'd like to marry my own maiden surname with that of my partner.
hell no, wset, lol!!!
but you said English names were illegal
when my daughter came home from her honeymoon, she asked if she could have kept maiden name, I told her yes, just leave it the other for legal purposes
Mine is 'Sayle' an his is 'Aylett'. I thought 'Saylett' would be quite nce.
It incorporates both names.
nice combo Jac
i have friends, she was Love, he was King, now they are bothe LoveKing
several of my French Canadian women friends have used both their maiden and married names, un-hyphenated, but off and on. If they drop one, it's the married name.
how sweet
LOL, dcs, that's fun.
I had a friend named Kitty Love
sounds like a stripper
lol,
my grand-kids are Brown-Evans. If my GD married a Smikth-Jones, would their kids be Brown-Evans-Smith-Jones? It gets silly.
it does
at least they're short names jilli
can you imagine Steadman-Laundry
then Sandra's hubby's name is Koropatnick - a bit of a mouthful
But she is "in a relationship" with a Reid. Times have changed.
Hmm, I was forced to become a 'Brown'. who then lived next to a 'Smith' and who had many, many relatives called 'Jones'. sonce that was ma-in-law's maiden name.
ooh the ladies that owned our house were the Reids
Hello . . .
hi JC
hi there jc
Hello JC.
hi, JC! :D glad to see you
flosey, I can, but add another long hypenated name to it....
Aww thank you, Seain - and you too! :)
Hi JC :)
Hello, Jacula! :)
And flosey! :)
And westford! :)
on our street in Annapolis were the Christmases the Bells and the Snows
DC, did you finish the grid today?
And Jilli!!! :)
Winter wonderland
what fun, west!
On the net, at leastm I've gone back to my maiden name, but didn't do so in real life, as I didn't want to confuse my kids.
it was navy housing so they were probably placed there on purpose
no more winter flosey please
you confused me, Jac, with Brown and Sayle!
Does anyone need any more clues?
Sorry about that, jilli.
I need 126 more words, jac, but nuts to it
west, it snowed here in la-la land today
All I can say Jilli is that the stats are in my profile.
the little elves haven't come to clean my kitchen so I guess I'd better go do it bbs

Find them or not, I'm offto bed again soon.

little dusting here this morning -- more than that in Nanaimo etc.
ah, not here, we just had rain
west, this has been a really unusual winter/spring
West, can you send the elves over to clean my kitchen whilst I sleep? If so, that would be wonderful.

I love the Steller's Jay jilli - I put peanuts out for them and they really make an awful noise if I'm late
Hope you can finish, jilli!

Thx, jilli!
oh oh...bbl
G'night, all!
We outside all day enjoying the wonderful weather. Hoping tomorrow is not as bad as they are expecting.
We *were outside
flosey -- we do have lovely common birds here, don't wee -- like the dark-eyed juncos (as common as sparrows back east) -- the towhees, and the other sparrows like the white-crowned, chipping, and so on
for sure jilli - they're so beautiful
we have had some interesting ducks in the pond too
the little buffleheads are so cute
well, up here on the hill I don't get to see them! But oh! I should have picked the Black Oystercatcher, shouldn't I!!!!!!!
that's another but I don't believe I've ever seen one
at least, not to recognize it
have even had a blue heron on occasion
They're endangered. I saw a few on a beach ramble a few years ago. Their nesting places are easily disturbed and idiots violate them in spite of pleas to stay away
that's so sad,
They say "I have a right to go where I please..."
we had a creek behind our house back in Aurora, had a green heron hanging around for one summer
tsk. such disrespect for other life in that attude, jill :/
so cheeky!
selfish people
indeed dc.
yes, not cheeky, downright selfish
rights must be balanced with responsibilities
indeed so, jilli

In case any of you are wondering, the Driftwood is our local weekly paper. A front page headline today was "Bush buys island parcel" and goes on to say "The Driftwood has learned that former U.S. president George W. Bush and his wife Laura have purchased a property on Salt Spring Island..." and so on, including a visit by Bill Gates in his Microsoft yacht Octopus...
whew -- fireworks
