scrabbler, my mom and I went over to her old office on friday, to collect up the rest of her things, now that the building has sold. Tragedy - the cleaning people threw away ALL her old textbooks, PDR, the whole lot. All gone!

dont know how my doc does it,he will get to the hospital at 7 a.m..check on his patienst,then spend 6 or 7 hours seeing patients at his office,the 3 times a week he does the walk in clinic from 6 pm to 9 pm
But I think she did feel some closure, just walking around the place. I figured out that she would have done more than 96.000 office visits in just that building over her career. That was a big deal. And we stood in her office and said a prayer, and then we talked about all the good work she had done, the people she had helped. I think it was good for her.

it was pretty sucky. my mom just wanted to practice, and kept her head down about the biz end of things. A cautionary tale for us all.
I actually worked for a practice years ago and one of the docs had a drug problem, so we had some of those issues, as well. He was a good guy, just made some very bad choices. He has been in recovery for some time, got his license back, and is doing well, but there were some financial and trust issues for quite some time.
You hire a business manager to take care of the money end and he or she winds up to be a crook, dammm
This guy, and his lovely partner in crime, got away with it. My sisters and I have already sworn a pact - when he dies, we are all wearing red dresses to the funeral.
The other docs were like your mom, did not want to deal with the money stuff, so he had always done it.
We knew something was "up" when the paychecks started bouncing!

the term pop comes from a type of bottle that was used here widdly just before and at the turn of the last century they were called "codd stoppers" and there was a marble in the neck of the bottle and was held in place at the top of the neck by the carbonation and a rubber seal.to ipen it they used to use a pencil or a stick and hit the marble and it make a very identifiable "pop" sound.hence the name
